K-9 Santi Lost in Firework Tragedy | Annapolis News
A heroic K-9 named Santi, a five-year-old Belgian Malinois with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, lost his life after being terrified by illegal fireworks on July 4th. Spooked by a loud aerial mortar, Santi bolted over a fence and was struck by a fleeing car. Despite his deputy’s frantic efforts to retrieve him, Santi was found injured and later died. Authorities are investigating the hit-and-run and urge witnesses to come forward — a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers illegal fireworks pose to both people and their loyal partners.
