- 1:02Speaker 5: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:04Speaker 6: I am Brian.
- 1:05Speaker 1: And I am Misty.
- 1:06Speaker 5: This week we're doing a nice little split up. For now,
- 1:10Speaker 5: we're doing it in portions.
- 1:12Speaker 7: It's, you know, always a challenge to get people together
- 1:15Speaker 7: in one spot. So now I've decided sometimes we don't
- 1:17Speaker 7: even have to.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Jay's off doing manly stuff. He's a thought like, car
- 1:22Speaker 1: parts store or something.
- 1:24Speaker 7: There's nothing manlier than looking at hot girls in little
- 1:27Speaker 7: red skirts.
- 1:28Speaker 1: He's been building implements of doom all.
- 1:30Speaker 7: Week that part is awesome and I still want to
- 1:32Speaker 7: put my order in for a zombie head basher.
- 1:35Speaker 1: After you posted your thing about the what was the
- 1:38Speaker 1: thing you posted with this fucking Star Wars guy oh.
- 1:43Speaker 7: The Tusken Raider yeah he's like why didn't I build
- 1:45Speaker 7: one of those can I get one of those I
- 1:47Speaker 7: want to put my order in now for a gaffy
- 1:49Speaker 7: stick alright that's all I'm saying I don't know what
- 1:52Speaker 7: I need to give him or bribe him or however
- 1:55Speaker 7: I need to go about it, but I definitely need
- 1:57Speaker 7: a gaffy stick, and odds are Greg will be right
- 1:59Speaker 7: behind me on that.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Well, the first one he built, he decided it was
- 2:03Speaker 1: too heavy, so he had to go.
- 2:04Speaker 8: Back to the drawing board, because he wasn't even done yet, and, like,
- 2:07Speaker 8: it was fucking massive.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It's like, I could barely pick it up with two hands,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and I've been throwing boxes for 13 years, so it's like,
- 2:14Speaker 1: that's going to be a fucking fortune to ship, so
- 2:17Speaker 1: it was another option, so.
- 2:18Speaker 5: I still don't know why I didn't think Randy could
- 2:20Speaker 5: just fly home on the plane with this battle mace.
- 2:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I didn't think it would go over very well, but whatever.
- 2:27Speaker 7: Can't he just explain to the airline it's only for zombies?
- 2:31Speaker 7: Unless this is that flight of the dead where it
- 2:33Speaker 7: breaks out, I'm not going to use it on anybody
- 2:36Speaker 7: on the plane. I'm sure they're fine with the honor
- 2:38Speaker 7: system at this point.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah, uh-huh.
- 2:41Speaker 8: You can't even take fucking shampoo on a plane.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I mean, if I think of mace.
- 2:44Speaker 5: I might kill people with shampoo.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 2:47Speaker 7: So, yeah, we're doing a broken up into segments this week.
- 2:50Speaker 7: So we've roped Misty into this half.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Drug me out of big lots for this.
- 2:54Speaker 6: It's not my fault you were in there.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Didn't even make it to the pots and pans section
- 2:59Speaker 1: where I was hidden. So I need a new cookie sheet.
- 3:03Speaker 6: Oh, a little red writing.
- 3:05Speaker 5: It's more important.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yes, it is.
- 3:06Speaker 6: But before that, we can do a abbreviated geek week.
- 3:11Speaker 7: Actually, this, well, kind of this morning, I had something,
- 3:15Speaker 7: and it's not our normal Geek Week, but it's a
- 3:18Speaker 7: weird reaction, and it's directly from the show.
- 3:22Speaker 6: It's directly related to the show.
- 3:25Speaker 7: I'm sitting there, and the news comes on when I
- 3:27Speaker 7: wake up, and it's showing footage, and you know, this,
- 3:31Speaker 7: as of yesterday, Japan is like ravaged by an earthquake
- 3:35Speaker 7: and a tsunami, and all this stuff's going on and
- 3:38Speaker 7: I hadn't really paid attention because I don't watch the news.
- 3:41Speaker 6: That involves being conscious and paying attention to the world
- 3:44Speaker 6: around me.
- 3:45Speaker 7: I don't really do that normally, but it just happened
- 3:47Speaker 7: to come on and I saw the footage of it
- 3:49Speaker 7: and my first thought was, oh man, I hope Sanae's okay.
- 3:54Speaker 6: I was like, it was really weird. It was like
- 3:57Speaker 6: all of a sudden, and.
- 3:58Speaker 7: You know, if you've been listening, she's a listener we
- 4:00Speaker 7: found in the last six, eight months or so.
- 4:03Speaker 5: She wrote us an email and.
- 4:04Speaker 7: I've talked to her online a couple of times and
- 4:07Speaker 7: I just still kind of barely know her. But there
- 4:09Speaker 7: was that second of, like, all of a sudden I was, like,
- 4:12Speaker 7: personally attached to this catastrophe going on halfway around the world.
- 4:17Speaker 5: And it's kind of weird.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I was worried about Maru, the cat, who has a
- 4:20Speaker 1: lot of YouTube videos. But from the posts I saw today,
- 4:22Speaker 1: he's okay. So he likes boxes. Lord.
- 4:27Speaker 6: Does he live in Japan?
- 4:29Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure he does.
- 4:31Speaker 6: Those bunnies in a cup were in Japan, too.
- 4:32Speaker 5: I hope they're okay.
- 4:34Speaker 8: I hope so.
- 4:35Speaker 5: No, I don't know.
- 4:35Speaker 6: I mean, it's not to make.
- 4:36Speaker 7: Light of any of it because it really is like
- 4:39Speaker 7: a tragedy. There's hundreds of people dead at this point,
- 4:41Speaker 7: I believe. So she did email me back. That was
- 4:44Speaker 7: my first thing. And I emailed her and was like, hey, actually,
- 4:47Speaker 7: she'd already posted on there that they made it through.
- 4:50Speaker 7: So I sent her a letter that was like, glad
- 4:51Speaker 7: to know you're OK. And so, I mean, she she
- 4:54Speaker 7: wrote back and seems like genuinely touched that I was concerned.
- 4:57Speaker 7: But I was like, it's it's weird. I mean, it really,
- 5:00Speaker 7: you know, up until recently, we could have never had that.
- 5:03Speaker 7: connection really unless you like met someone and knew them
- 5:07Speaker 7: and wrote letters i guess but in the last like
- 5:09Speaker 7: 20 years like the world has changed so phenomenally that
- 5:12Speaker 7: you can have a personal connection to someone halfway around
- 5:15Speaker 7: the world that you've never physically met before i.
- 5:18Speaker 8: Don't want to have physical connections people that.
- 5:20Speaker 7: Fear me normally that's true too i that's what's kind
- 5:24Speaker 7: of awesome i guess about this you know opening up
- 5:27Speaker 7: your your group of people to the world and It
- 5:30Speaker 7: gives you a lot more to choose from. So you
- 5:32Speaker 7: can weed through the losers and you can actually find
- 5:34Speaker 7: the cool people. People are cool in the further away
- 5:36Speaker 7: they are.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Kind of.
- 5:37Speaker 7: It's like then you can find the cool people in
- 5:39Speaker 7: Japan or the cool people in Indonesia or, you know, Boston.
- 5:42Speaker 7: So it's like you can pick and choose. You've got
- 5:45Speaker 7: a much wider group of people because the people that
- 5:48Speaker 7: I come in contact with around here, there's only a
- 5:50Speaker 7: handful of them that don't suck.
- 5:51Speaker 6: Yeah, pretty much.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Yeah, but I don't know.
- 5:54Speaker 7: That was kind of weird. And I went through this
- 5:57Speaker 7: whole thing of, Basically, I guess that's how we as
- 6:00Speaker 7: people should respond. Like we probably should be personally affected
- 6:04Speaker 7: by the fact that there's all these people getting killed,
- 6:06Speaker 7: but we've disconnected ourselves so much over the years that like,
- 6:10Speaker 7: I don't know, it's weird, especially in this country.
- 6:13Speaker 6: If it doesn't happen here, we don't care about it.
- 6:15Speaker 7: So it's, I think that's almost the only way that
- 6:18Speaker 7: you have a connect to something like that is, is
- 6:20Speaker 7: knowing someone who's, you know, in danger or, you.
- 6:23Speaker 6: Know, affected by it. So it's, I don't know. It
- 6:26Speaker 6: was just really weird. It was a weird reaction this morning.
- 6:28Speaker 6: It was just like.
- 6:30Speaker 7: That was the first thing I thought of, that all
- 6:32Speaker 7: of a sudden I had a face to put with
- 6:33Speaker 7: this tragedy. And so it was just good to find
- 6:36Speaker 7: out that her, you know, her family's OK.
- 6:39Speaker 6: She's OK. They're kind of dealing with aftershocks.
- 6:42Speaker 7: Now there's, you know, the extra one, two and three
- 6:46Speaker 7: punch now of a meltdown potentially happening. Which is, yeah,
- 6:51Speaker 7: it's knocked out the power at the power plant, and
- 6:53Speaker 7: they've had.
- 6:54Speaker 6: Some sort of horrible disaster and explosion there. So it's like, Jesus,
- 6:58Speaker 6: lay off these people for a little while, okay?
- 7:01Speaker 1: But at least Maru still has his box.
- 7:03Speaker 6: There you go.
- 7:04Speaker 5: So, yeah, if nothing else, you know, just, you know,
- 7:08Speaker 5: our thoughts go out to you, Sanai.
- 7:09Speaker 6: We're glad you made it through.
- 7:10Speaker 7: And to anybody else actually dealing with that right now,
- 7:15Speaker 7: our thoughts are with you. I don't know what else
- 7:16Speaker 7: we can do, but it's, yeah, it kind of sucks, so.
- 7:19Speaker 5: Yeah, that was weird this morning.
- 7:21Speaker 1: That's the one good thing about not living that close
- 7:22Speaker 1: to the ocean.
- 7:24Speaker 6: Well, I mean, we still had a hurricane here, technically.
- 7:26Speaker 8: Yeah, but we don't get, like, washed away.
- 7:28Speaker 7: We don't normally, but, you know, I'm still waiting for
- 7:31Speaker 7: the massive earthquake to hit us.
- 7:32Speaker 1: We still get tornadoes. We can get floods, you know.
- 7:36Speaker 6: We're also, we don't get all the.
- 7:37Speaker 1: We don't get an earthquake.
- 7:38Speaker 7: We don't get all the publicity of, like, the San
- 7:40Speaker 7: Andreas Fault, but we're also sitting on the largest fault
- 7:43Speaker 7: in this part.
- 7:44Speaker 6: Of the world.
- 7:45Speaker 7: It's just been dormant for a while, but when it
- 7:46Speaker 7: goes off again, it's going to take out... This entire
- 7:50Speaker 7: part of the world. So, yeah, it's just a matter
- 7:52Speaker 7: of time for us, too, guys.
- 7:53Speaker 1: That's why I try not to talk too much shit
- 7:55Speaker 1: about those disasters, because it's karma.
- 7:57Speaker 8: I figure as soon as I say something bad.
- 7:59Speaker 1: About Japan or Haiti or any of those places that
- 8:01Speaker 1: got struck horribly or... Make fun of them like I
- 8:04Speaker 1: would normally do any other, you know, situation. Yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 6: That's normally how we operate.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I ain't going to make fun of this shit
- 8:10Speaker 1: because it's serious. It's fucking tragic. And I don't want
- 8:13Speaker 1: that shit happening to me.
- 8:14Speaker 8: So, you know, I'm glad.
- 8:16Speaker 1: We're blessed. Nothing that bad has happened to us in
- 8:18Speaker 1: our lifetime.
- 8:19Speaker 8: Knock on, I'm assuming your table's real wooden.
- 8:21Speaker 5: Sure it is. This is fancy.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I can see the scratches in it.
- 8:24Speaker 6: That was where Roger's at.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Roger's an ass.
- 8:28Speaker 5: Nice.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You know, listen, he's not here or whatever.
- 8:30Speaker 6: He has disappeared.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Maybe he fell in an earthquake hole. Fell in a sinkhole.
- 8:36Speaker 7: He's down there right now working on the fault. Trying
- 8:38Speaker 7: to make it go off.
- 8:40Speaker 1: He's kicking it.
- 8:41Speaker 8: That's something he would do.
- 8:42Speaker 1: But I'm just joking. Roger's not much of an ass. Usually. But,
- 8:48Speaker 1: you know, it's serious.
- 8:49Speaker 8: And, you know, I wouldn't wish that on.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Actually, I would wish that on my worst enemies.
- 8:53Speaker 6: Yeah, I probably would too. I'm a jerk.
- 8:56Speaker 9: But.
- 8:57Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, it's just kind of weird, and it's,
- 8:59Speaker 7: I think, how we've come to deal with things. Like,
- 9:02Speaker 7: for the most part, like I was saying, the disconnect.
- 9:04Speaker 7: I think, again, I don't know if human minds are
- 9:06Speaker 7: made to deal with that much. I mean, you went,
- 9:10Speaker 7: you know, go back hundreds of years, all you had
- 9:11Speaker 7: to deal with was your little neighborhood, you know? And
- 9:13Speaker 7: unless something horrible happened there, you only dealt with, you know,
- 9:17Speaker 7: people dying one at a time, or, you know, that's
- 9:19Speaker 7: all you ever dealt with as a human being. And
- 9:22Speaker 7: then now, we've opened up this entire, like, now you...
- 9:25Speaker 7: not only know what's going on around the world, but
- 9:28Speaker 7: you can experience it almost firsthand. I mean, you've got
- 9:30Speaker 7: people taking videos from the tragedy. So it's like you
- 9:34Speaker 7: really almost do have to disconnect to some point because
- 9:37Speaker 7: I don't know if the human brain is meant to
- 9:39Speaker 7: deal with that much horror and trauma that goes on
- 9:42Speaker 7: in the world at any given moment. Right now, horrible
- 9:45Speaker 7: things are happening around the world. And it's like if
- 9:47Speaker 7: you have to experience all of that at once, it's overwhelming.
- 9:51Speaker 7: I think that's kind of why we– distance ourselves mentally
- 9:54Speaker 7: from that sort of thing I.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Don't know all I can say is at least at
- 9:58Speaker 1: least with the thing in Japan, there's not quite so
- 10:01Speaker 1: much coverage on Charlie Sheen.
- 10:04Speaker 7: If there's a blessing in disguise, it's that for a
- 10:08Speaker 7: few minutes, we stopped talking about Charlie Sheen.
- 10:10Speaker 5: So there you go.
- 10:12Speaker 6: That's all we have. So it's good to know you're okay.
- 10:14Speaker 7: And I, and I hope everything else goes as well
- 10:17Speaker 7: as it can from this point on for you guys. Cause, Yeah,
- 10:20Speaker 7: that whole country has kind of been screwed this week, so, yeah.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's something that always happens. There's always countries
- 10:27Speaker 1: getting screwed, and it's like, how long will this play
- 10:28Speaker 1: in our media? How long until the next thing that,
- 10:31Speaker 1: you know.
- 10:32Speaker 6: Until another celebrity gets busted.
- 10:34Speaker 7: I mean, that's usually how it really works, is what
- 10:37Speaker 7: comes along to take it out, and it's usually not
- 10:39Speaker 7: even something of equal importance. it's usually something stupid and
- 10:44Speaker 7: Lindsay O'Hannell get arrested again.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Not even like shock value. It's just entertainment at some point,
- 10:49Speaker 1: you know?
- 10:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:50Speaker 7: Well, I mean, news is definitely entertainment on many levels
- 10:53Speaker 7: now and is addressed that way. So it's a different
- 10:57Speaker 7: world than it used to be.
- 11:00Speaker 5: So with the.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I don't think I heard anything about this until Olivia
- 11:03Speaker 1: Munn posted something about it on Facebook.
- 11:06Speaker 8: That's how I got this news. Olivia Munn.
- 11:09Speaker 5: Oh, she should deliver all the news. Then I would
- 11:12Speaker 5: actually want to watch the news.
- 11:14Speaker 6: That would, yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I'm so oblivious. I live in my own little misty bubble.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I don't hear about most things.
- 11:20Speaker 6: I'm like that too.
- 11:21Speaker 7: I mean, it had happened hours and hours before. And I, yeah,
- 11:25Speaker 7: I just, I kind of heard that something happened. I
- 11:27Speaker 7: still didn't know it was of that scale. I mean,
- 11:29Speaker 7: there's always earthquakes going on everywhere.
- 11:31Speaker 6: I didn't realize that. the epic scale that it had
- 11:33Speaker 6: kind of hit there.
- 11:34Speaker 1: That's sad that that's where I'm getting my main, my
- 11:37Speaker 1: main information is from Facebook. Cause I hadn't, I hadn't,
- 11:40Speaker 1: I hadn't heard nothing about it. And then Olivia Munn
- 11:42Speaker 1: posted something. I, all my prayers go out to people
- 11:44Speaker 1: in Japan. I'm like, the fuck happened in Japan?
- 11:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I didn't know.
- 11:48Speaker 7: I think that's how I've always operated. I mean, even
- 11:51Speaker 7: in my younger years, it's like I never watched the news.
- 11:53Speaker 5: The only way I ever heard about current events was
- 11:55Speaker 5: whatever Letterman was making.
- 11:56Speaker 6: Fun of that night. Like, that was my newscast for me.
- 11:59Speaker 8: The news is too damn depressing. I don't watch that shit.
- 12:01Speaker 6: I'm telling you.
- 12:04Speaker 7: So, on that cheery note, to go into the other
- 12:08Speaker 7: fun activities this week. The only other thing I've watched,
- 12:11Speaker 7: you know, pretty much this weekend. Actually, that's not true.
- 12:14Speaker 7: And I'll go ahead and mention the first one since
- 12:15Speaker 7: you're here because you'll want to bitch about it. Last night,
- 12:18Speaker 7: I watched the Sorority Row remake.
- 12:21Speaker 10: Oh, Lord.
- 12:23Speaker 6: I almost messaged you midway into the movie.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Potato Head.
- 12:26Speaker 6: Which one is Ceiling Eyes?
- 12:28Speaker 8: That's Audrina.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Is it the blonde chick?
- 12:30Speaker 1: She's the one who always looks like this.
- 12:32Speaker 7: I know that, but I was trying to pick her
- 12:34Speaker 7: out of the lineup. Which of the bitchy crew of
- 12:37Speaker 7: girls was she?
- 12:38Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I've never seen the movie.
- 12:40Speaker 5: I thought you watched that one.
- 12:41Speaker 1: No, I bitched about it, but I haven't watched it
- 12:43Speaker 1: because it had Ceiling Eyes and Potato Head in it,
- 12:45Speaker 1: so I haven't seen it, but.
- 12:47Speaker 8: She was the one who.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Was on the hills.
- 12:49Speaker 5: I know, but I don't watch the hills. Her eyes look.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Like this all the time. She's always looking up, no
- 12:54Speaker 1: matter what.
- 12:54Speaker 5: But she's not the girl that was in, because then
- 12:57Speaker 5: I went looking.
- 12:57Speaker 7: As the other main girl comes in, I was like, wait,
- 13:00Speaker 7: isn't that the chick from Es Darko, who I actually
- 13:02Speaker 7: kind of like, or is one of the few redeeming
- 13:04Speaker 7: things in Es Darko?
- 13:05Speaker 8: I'm assuming that's not Celina.
- 13:08Speaker 6: Is she the girl in Burning Bright?
- 13:11Speaker 11: No.
- 13:11Speaker 5: Because that's the other main... You might want to watch
- 13:14Speaker 5: it just for her.
- 13:15Speaker 6: I love Burning Bright.
- 13:16Speaker 7: The other main girl is then I went to look
- 13:18Speaker 7: and make sure she was the girl in Estarco. And
- 13:19Speaker 7: then since then, she's done Burning Bright.
- 13:21Speaker 6: She's the main girl in that. So now I kind
- 13:22Speaker 6: of want to watch.
- 13:23Speaker 5: I almost bought Burning Bright.
- 13:24Speaker 1: For $ 5 because they had it on sale at Blockbuster
- 13:27Speaker 1: because they're going out of business because.
- 13:28Speaker 6: It's... Because they suck and their time has passed.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Then I realized I wanted to pay $ 5 for it.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I would, but I was only going to do it
- 13:35Speaker 1: if I was paying $ 5 for Eclipse too.
- 13:40Speaker 8: And I wasn't sure if it was... Full frame.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Because it said standard on the DVD case.
- 13:44Speaker 6: I get worried. Yeah, that's not good. I wouldn't go
- 13:47Speaker 6: with that one. Or Eclipse.
- 13:49Speaker 1: The only reason I buy the Twilight movies is so
- 13:51Speaker 1: that we can watch the Rift Tracks.
- 13:53Speaker 6: Sadly, I knew why you were buying it.
- 13:55Speaker 1: That's fucking hilarious.
- 13:56Speaker 6: Just to clarify for everyone else.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Rift Tracks.
- 13:58Speaker 8: Fucking awesome.
- 13:59Speaker 1: It's like Mystery Science Theater, but you can put it
- 14:01Speaker 1: with new movies. You go to it at RiftTracks.com. I'm
- 14:03Speaker 1: pretty sure.
- 14:03Speaker 8: I'm not getting any.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Money for this.
- 14:05Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure you are.
- 14:06Speaker 6: But they should sponsor us.
- 14:07Speaker 8: Fucking awesome. Research tracks with an X, too, because they're cool.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Tracks. I think.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So, yeah. That's really nice.
- 14:14Speaker 7: I watched that, yeah, I watched that last night. You know,
- 14:16Speaker 7: I didn't hate it as much as, I mean, that's
- 14:19Speaker 7: the thing, it's just, it's dumb. I mean, it's just
- 14:22Speaker 7: a dumb horror movie, but I'm watching it like, you know,
- 14:25Speaker 7: it's kind of like all of these remakes and all
- 14:27Speaker 7: of the, like.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Did you watch the original? I don't even know if I've.
- 14:30Speaker 6: Watched the original. Maybe that's the one you were talking about.
- 14:32Speaker 6: I watched the original.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:34Speaker 7: I have not watched that in my recent memory. I
- 14:37Speaker 7: may have seen it years ago and forgotten about it, but.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I don't remember it all that well, but I remember
- 14:40Speaker 1: sort of liking it.
- 14:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:42Speaker 7: This, I mean, this one is just, it's like all
- 14:43Speaker 7: of the new shiny, glossy people from the hills.
- 14:46Speaker 5: Kind of horror movies. And I'm watching it.
- 14:48Speaker 7: I'm like, I don't, I'm sort of enjoying the experience,
- 14:51Speaker 7: but it really, if ever you can use the term
- 14:53Speaker 7: brain candy, I mean, it's like, that's what it was.
- 14:55Speaker 6: It's dumb and shiny. And I'm watching people get killed.
- 14:58Speaker 7: It's, it's like, All of these genre-type movies, it's like
- 15:01Speaker 7: you can have good ones and you can have ones
- 15:03Speaker 7: that just play the lowest common denominator.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I kind of like... Oh, it depends on what mood
- 15:07Speaker 1: I'm in. I kind of like stuff like that.
- 15:09Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 15:09Speaker 1: It's brainless fun.
- 15:11Speaker 5: You know, you can go.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Into it and not get a life lesson.
- 15:14Speaker 5: I mean, that's what this was.
- 15:15Speaker 7: It's like there's nothing really redeeming in it. Other than,
- 15:18Speaker 7: you know, that girl is okay.
- 15:20Speaker 6: Again, she doesn't do anything amazing, but.
- 15:21Speaker 8: Hot potato head, dude. You know.
- 15:25Speaker 6: I haven't watched her in much stuff.
- 15:27Speaker 7: I think I've seen, again, on Letterman, I think I
- 15:29Speaker 7: saw her one night, and that's the only reason I
- 15:31Speaker 7: probably would know what she looks like anymore.
- 15:32Speaker 6: But in this movie, I almost couldn't watch her.
- 15:37Speaker 5: Like, she, her head really.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Is shaped odd. I'm sorry. It's like, how do you
- 15:42Speaker 1: have someone, I mean... Demi Moore back in the day,
- 15:44Speaker 1: she was an attractive young lady.
- 15:45Speaker 5: Even now, I mean, she's held up relatively well for
- 15:48Speaker 5: her age. Yeah, that too.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Bruce Willis has never been a pretty man, but he's,
- 15:51Speaker 1: you know, somewhat, I'm sure somebody would consider him a
- 15:54Speaker 1: somewhat handsome man, possibly.
- 15:57Speaker 5: I think, you know, even back in the day.
- 15:58Speaker 8: How the hell did Potato Head come out of that?
- 16:01Speaker 5: I don't know. Because that's the thing, it's like, and
- 16:02Speaker 5: I'm not going to talk smack about your kid, because
- 16:05Speaker 5: Bruce is awesome. I'd like to hang out with Bruce.
- 16:07Speaker 6: He seems like a really good guy.
- 16:09Speaker 7: But she just looks strange the entire time. I was
- 16:12Speaker 7: just like something odd about her i don't know what
- 16:15Speaker 7: it is and and she her acting is just kind
- 16:18Speaker 7: of it's like all the girls on there i mean
- 16:20Speaker 7: none of them do anything amazing they just sort of
- 16:22Speaker 7: stand there and she's actually the more hysterical one of
- 16:25Speaker 7: the bunch so she just gets to like scream and
- 16:27Speaker 7: run around and be have enough fit most of the
- 16:29Speaker 7: movie so i'm sure also that i'll.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Watch it at some point is it like did it
- 16:33Speaker 1: fronted or was it on.
- 16:34Speaker 7: Netflix um watch it on tv it was on tv
- 16:36Speaker 7: it's on cable it's on i don't.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Have cable i can't i have this channel now.
- 16:41Speaker 7: That This is awesome. As we've said many a time,
- 16:44Speaker 7: this is pretty damn awesome. Yeah, I got distracted. Other
- 16:49Speaker 7: than that, I did watch.
- 16:51Speaker 5: I finally caught up with the rest of the world, what, nine,
- 16:54Speaker 5: ten months later.
- 16:54Speaker 6: I watched Inception.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I have no real desire to see that movie.
- 16:58Speaker 7: I just put it off. I kind of wanted to initially,
- 17:02Speaker 7: and then I just... Again, I hardly ever get to
- 17:04Speaker 7: the theater, so I just hadn't gotten around to it,
- 17:06Speaker 7: and I finally sat down and watched it.
- 17:08Speaker 1: It.
- 17:10Speaker 6: kind of deserves a lot of the attention that it's gotten. It's,
- 17:13Speaker 6: it's impressive.
- 17:14Speaker 7: And I mean, it, again, almost for the Christopher Nolan element,
- 17:17Speaker 7: it's like, you've got to be on board with him. I,
- 17:20Speaker 7: I so wanted, you know, again, it's way too late,
- 17:22Speaker 7: I suppose, but in general, like my personal feelings, I
- 17:25Speaker 7: feel like we really need to support this kind of
- 17:27Speaker 7: stuff because it's, it's written and directed by him. He
- 17:31Speaker 7: came up with this concept. It's an original movie. It's them,
- 17:33Speaker 7: you know, the studios, not only backing this idea, granted,
- 17:37Speaker 7: because he made them a ton of money the year before, but, Still,
- 17:40Speaker 7: it's like studios got behind him and let him do
- 17:42Speaker 7: his own thing. It's not a comic book movie. It's
- 17:45Speaker 7: not a sequel. It's not a remake of another terrible
- 17:48Speaker 7: horror movie.
- 17:49Speaker 5: It looks like it.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Would make my head hurt, and I don't know.
- 17:52Speaker 7: That's the other thing I have to give it credit for,
- 17:54Speaker 7: and it deserved, like, all the attention it got on
- 17:56Speaker 7: the technical end.
- 17:57Speaker 5: I mean, it won cinematography. I can't remember if it won.
- 17:59Speaker 7: Editing, but it deserves it for editing because editing is
- 18:03Speaker 7: amazing because it really does have, like, three or four
- 18:07Speaker 7: at times storylines sort of going simultaneously and it finds
- 18:11Speaker 7: a way to edit them together like amazingly well. Like
- 18:14Speaker 7: it really is not confusing. And something like that, I
- 18:18Speaker 7: was like going in knowing what it was about. I
- 18:20Speaker 7: was like, this is going to be such a muddled
- 18:22Speaker 7: mess that you're just... Most people, even if the people
- 18:26Speaker 7: who listen to us are probably a little more skilled
- 18:28Speaker 7: at paying attention to movies and watching.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Are they more sophisticated than us?
- 18:33Speaker 5: As film watchers, yes.
- 18:34Speaker 6: I'm sure not on all levels because they listen to us.
- 18:37Speaker 5: So obviously they have a guttural sense of humor based
- 18:40Speaker 5: on many of our comments.
- 18:42Speaker 1: It's called taste.
- 18:43Speaker 5: But I think just people who pay attention to movies more,
- 18:48Speaker 5: I can see maybe getting on board. But I was like,
- 18:49Speaker 5: this made a ton of money.
- 18:51Speaker 7: This did good across the board with even mainstream people.
- 18:54Speaker 7: So how is it that they followed this story? And
- 18:57Speaker 7: now watching it, I'm like, it's because they... Again, writing-wise,
- 19:01Speaker 7: it found a way to... Explain it without totally beating
- 19:06Speaker 7: you over the head with the rules. Granted, I know
- 19:08Speaker 7: it's gotten called out for making all these rules and
- 19:10Speaker 7: then breaking them midway through. That's an issue that I
- 19:12Speaker 7: didn't have as much problem with going in. I think
- 19:15Speaker 7: more impressively is that once you get to that last
- 19:17Speaker 7: half of the movie, it finds a way to keep
- 19:19Speaker 7: it from getting massively confusing. It's... It just keeps everything straight.
- 19:23Speaker 7: It edits it and sets everything up so that it's
- 19:26Speaker 7: not overall... I mean, granted, it's still a lot of crazy,
- 19:29Speaker 7: heady thinking involved if you want to, but... I don't
- 19:32Speaker 7: like one of their things.
- 19:33Speaker 6: That's what I figured. So, if you don't want to
- 19:35Speaker 6: do that, you can kind of just watch it.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I like my brainless fun.
- 19:37Speaker 7: And watch the basic little stories and follow those and
- 19:41Speaker 7: not think about it too much.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Is DiCaprio tolerable in this movie?
- 19:44Speaker 5: Again, I think I liked him better. Maybe he's coming
- 19:47Speaker 5: into his own.
- 19:48Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 19:48Speaker 8: He's finally fitting into his big old head. He's got
- 19:50Speaker 8: a big old swollen ass head.
- 19:51Speaker 6: He still kind of looks like a kid. Actually, Joseph
- 19:53Speaker 6: Gordon-Levitt is awesome.
- 19:54Speaker 11: Oh, he's adorable.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I love him.
- 19:55Speaker 7: He almost doesn't have enough screen time is my complaint.
- 19:58Speaker 7: It's like tons of Leo, but I'm just like, man,
- 20:01Speaker 7: he's just so good in that. And he actually is
- 20:03Speaker 7: starting to look a little... Again, they're both wearing grown-up
- 20:07Speaker 7: clothes the whole time, so... I didn't have much faith in.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Him when he was about to do third rock from
- 20:10Speaker 1: the song he was on.
- 20:11Speaker 6: Well, I did, but he was good at that. I
- 20:13Speaker 6: was afraid he was never.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Goofy looking kid.
- 20:15Speaker 7: I figured he was never going to be anything but
- 20:17Speaker 7: that long haired, goofy looking kid. And he was just,
- 20:20Speaker 7: I mean, he was so good at delivering those lines
- 20:21Speaker 7: that I was afraid that was all he was ever
- 20:23Speaker 7: going to do.
- 20:23Speaker 6: So I'm, again, impressed that he's broken out of that.
- 20:26Speaker 6: He is one hell of a singer.
- 20:28Speaker 7: He's now turning in amazing performances in all these movies.
- 20:35Speaker 7: There's a reason they keep giving him all these properties
- 20:37Speaker 7: in the last couple of years. It's because he's freaking talented.
- 20:41Speaker 7: It's worth watching it for him.
- 20:42Speaker 5: But yeah, just direction-wise and editing and writing, it's all impressive.
- 20:48Speaker 7: Granted, I realize a lot of people still have issues
- 20:49Speaker 7: with it. I'm not going to say it's my favorite
- 20:51Speaker 7: movie ever, but it's an impressive movie.
- 20:53Speaker 6: I think it kind of did deserve.
- 20:56Speaker 7: to be up there with, with the big movies of
- 20:58Speaker 7: last year, especially, you know, it got sort of snubbed
- 21:01Speaker 7: on everything at the Oscars because people acted like it
- 21:03Speaker 7: was just a big dumb action type movie, which it's
- 21:07Speaker 7: not that much action really.
- 21:09Speaker 1: It's so, I quit listening. I'm still picturing him singing.
- 21:13Speaker 1: You make me feel like a natural.
- 21:14Speaker 6: Woman, whatever it takes for you to get through the day.
- 21:19Speaker 11: Yeah, that's it.
- 21:20Speaker 1: All right.
- 21:21Speaker 6: So yeah, that was about all I've watched this week. So, um,
- 21:24Speaker 6: What have you been up to?
- 21:25Speaker 8: Not a goddamn thing.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I watched a boyfriend spend hours upon hours of playing Castlevania,
- 21:31Speaker 1: which is fucking awesome.
- 21:33Speaker 6: He's obsessed with this now, isn't he?
- 21:34Speaker 1: Dude, for serious. If he hadn't had to have been
- 21:37Speaker 1: at work at like 5 o'clock this morning, he probably
- 21:39Speaker 1: would have been up all night last night. I'm sure
- 21:40Speaker 1: that's what he'll probably do tonight.
- 21:41Speaker 9: Nice.
- 21:42Speaker 1: But, yeah, we watched The Lost Boys, which me, him,
- 21:47Speaker 1: and the kid watched The Lost Boys because she'd never
- 21:49Speaker 1: seen it, and I don't really think she gave her access.
- 21:51Speaker 5: You got to pass these classics on to that next generation.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I don't think she cared. I think she would have,
- 21:56Speaker 1: you know, she was like, I like Monster School.
- 21:59Speaker 6: Okay, that's fun, too. But I'm a little, I've always
- 22:02Speaker 6: been a little more partial to the Lost Boys.
- 22:04Speaker 1: It's fucking awesome. It's probably still one of my favorite
- 22:06Speaker 1: movies of all time, but I don't care what anybody says.
- 22:08Speaker 6: Because it kicks ass.
- 22:09Speaker 11: It really is.
- 22:09Speaker 6: It's fucking awesome. It's just damn entertaining, and it's fun
- 22:13Speaker 6: as a horror movie.
- 22:15Speaker 1: And got the hottest damn vampires. I mean, Kiefer Sutherland,
- 22:17Speaker 1: I don't give a shit about him now. He's kind
- 22:18Speaker 1: of weird looking, but goddamn, he was handsome in that movie.
- 22:21Speaker 6: Alex Winter.
- 22:22Speaker 1: He was the only un-hot vampire in that movie.
- 22:25Speaker 7: Well, if it helps to him, you know, because he's
- 22:28Speaker 7: kind of awesome now, and the other ones got old
- 22:31Speaker 7: and are not hot anymore.
- 22:32Speaker 1: And his mullet in that movie, that fucking curly mullet,
- 22:35Speaker 1: that's the worst fucking hair I've ever seen.
- 22:37Speaker 6: Yeah, mullets are bad, but curly mullets are the worst.
- 22:40Speaker 1: That was horrible. But yeah, the other guys, I don't
- 22:43Speaker 1: know their names because.
- 22:44Speaker 6: They're all pretty boys. You know one, Billy Worth?
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a dark hair one. Yeah. And the other
- 22:48Speaker 1: one's something, something, something.
- 22:50Speaker 6: The blonde dude.
- 22:51Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Brooke McC... Not Brooke McC... I don't know. Dude, he's hot.
- 22:56Speaker 1: But yeah, the dark hair guy was fucking hot.
- 22:58Speaker 6: But now they just got old, and old guys aren't
- 23:00Speaker 6: hot anymore.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Yeah, not so much.
- 23:02Speaker 6: Alex Winter, you're awesomer. So there, take that.
- 23:04Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 1: But then... Because when they put the Lost Boys, the first,
- 23:10Speaker 1: which I think is the third movie... I told boyfriend
- 23:13Speaker 1: that I wanted to watch it. You know, he's like, okay, well,
- 23:16Speaker 1: I watched the second one first.
- 23:17Speaker 8: Cause I haven't watched the tribe.
- 23:19Speaker 6: You don't want to be lost.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:21Speaker 6: You know, complicated plot.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Yeah. I was like, dude, it's going to be, it's horrible.
- 23:25Speaker 1: As I watched it before. It's, it's, it's fucking bad.
- 23:29Speaker 1: So we got maybe 20 minutes into it, and I
- 23:31Speaker 1: looked over, and he has just this look of dumbfounded,
- 23:34Speaker 1: just fucking boredom. I was like, can we turn this
- 23:37Speaker 1: off so we can play some Castlevania? He's like, yes,
- 23:40Speaker 1: for the love of God, please turn this off. So yeah,
- 23:42Speaker 1: we got about 20 minutes in. He hadn't even gotten
- 23:45Speaker 1: to the Felden part of it yet, and he was
- 23:47Speaker 1: ready to turn this shit off.
- 23:48Speaker 6: That's further than I've gotten so far. I haven't even attempted.
- 23:50Speaker 7: I kind of want to, I feel like, just as
- 23:52Speaker 7: a geek, as a horror fan, I'm going to have
- 23:55Speaker 7: to watch them just to cross them off the list, but.
- 23:58Speaker 6: I know they're going.
- 23:58Speaker 5: To be bad.
- 23:59Speaker 1: He got through the Tom Savini part of the movie,
- 24:01Speaker 1: and that's pretty much it.
- 24:05Speaker 5: Well, that's all he wanted.
- 24:06Speaker 6: He loves him some Tom Savini.
- 24:07Speaker 8: He loves him some Feldman, too, and he didn't even
- 24:09Speaker 8: get to the Feldman part, you know.
- 24:11Speaker 1: And Feldman is just atrocious in this movie because he
- 24:13Speaker 1: talks like he knows what's going on.
- 24:15Speaker 5: Well, he kind of did that in the first one, too.
- 24:17Speaker 1: This is horrible erg. Wow. This is horrible.
- 24:20Speaker 8: It's horrendous. It's just, it's laughable is what it is.
- 24:23Speaker 1: It's regot damn diculous.
- 24:25Speaker 6: Is he going to grab him and shake him when
- 24:26Speaker 6: he sees him next time?
- 24:27Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 24:28Speaker 6: That's only like a couple weeks off.
- 24:29Speaker 1: No, he's pretty excited about seeing Feldman though.
- 24:31Speaker 5: I told you. I'm putting him in charge of talking
- 24:33Speaker 5: to Feldman. He's going to hang in the mic and
- 24:35Speaker 5: be like, go have some Feldman time.
- 24:37Speaker 1: He'll only want to talk about his favorite Feldman movie
- 24:39Speaker 1: and that's all it'll be. It'll just be an hour
- 24:40Speaker 1: long discussion on the burbs.
- 24:42Speaker 7: I'm fine with that actually. We already did one of
- 24:45Speaker 7: those but we can return to it. We can get
- 24:46Speaker 7: Feldman's take on the burbs so. That's one of his
- 24:51Speaker 7: more entertaining performances in his life, as far as I'm concerned.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I never gave a rat's ass about Feldman. I was
- 24:56Speaker 1: always a Haim fan.
- 24:57Speaker 5: It was good for me.
- 24:59Speaker 6: I was never, you know, that big either way.
- 25:01Speaker 7: But, yeah, if I was going to pick one, I think,
- 25:04Speaker 7: you know, you had more promise with young Haim. Even
- 25:07Speaker 7: young Feldman was kind of cheesy and pretty over. I mean,
- 25:10Speaker 7: he's in some good movies when he's young.
- 25:13Speaker 1: The best Feldman movies, to me, still stand by me.
- 25:17Speaker 5: It's a good movie.
- 25:18Speaker 7: And he's not overwhelmingly Feldman-y. But, I mean, some of
- 25:22Speaker 7: the other ones he gets cheesy. Well, he definitely, as
- 25:24Speaker 7: he gets older, gets cheesier. But that's a pretty decent performance,
- 25:27Speaker 7: and it's very reined in. Again, maybe Rob Reiner kind
- 25:30Speaker 7: of kept him under control.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I think it's his mouth that bothers me the most.
- 25:33Speaker 1: He has no lips. I don't like lipless dudes. It's weird.
- 25:37Speaker 1: He's like a lizard. Oh, God. He does. Is that
- 25:41Speaker 1: going to offend our lizard listeners?
- 25:43Speaker 6: Oh, sorry, lizards. There goes our Geico commercials. We've totally
- 25:50Speaker 6: lost our geico.
- 25:52Speaker 1: My brain's dead. The green thing from Star Trek. You know.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I should know what it's called.
- 26:01Speaker 7: I don't remember what it's called. Randy's going to call
- 26:03Speaker 7: you out for not knowing that you know.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Damn you, Brandy.
- 26:07Speaker 5: Yeah, because we saw that guy, actually. He was in
- 26:12Speaker 5: Chicago last year.
- 26:13Speaker 1: It's like right in my head. I can picture it.
- 26:14Speaker 8: I know what the hell it's called.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Like a gorn or something.
- 26:18Speaker 6: I guess it's just gorn.
- 26:20Speaker 8: Did I get it right?
- 26:21Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 26:22Speaker 13: Huh?
- 26:23Speaker 14: I don't know.
- 26:23Speaker 5: What did you say?
- 26:24Speaker 6: I said gorn.
- 26:25Speaker 5: Okay, it says gorn green lizard alien.
- 26:27Speaker 13: Oh, hell yeah.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I got that shit right.
- 26:29Speaker 5: Whatever.
- 26:29Speaker 8: I'm awesome.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 26:31Speaker 7: So, if there's any gorn-like creatures out there listening, you know.
- 26:35Speaker 7: She's totally comfortable.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Are we transmitting into space? Is that what we're doing?
- 26:38Speaker 6: I believe so.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 26:40Speaker 8: But yeah, Feldman always.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Rubbed me the wrong way and not in a good way.
- 26:42Speaker 1: He just creeped me.
- 26:44Speaker 6: Haim rubs you in a good way.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Yes. I love, I've always been, I love me some Haim.
- 26:50Speaker 1: And Jay's like, so are you going to show Feldman
- 26:52Speaker 1: your Haim tattoo? And I'm like, nope.
- 26:55Speaker 6: You should, and then point and laugh at him.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Be like, you know what? Screw you guys. You are
- 27:00Speaker 1: nowhere on me. Haim's right there. Ha ha.
- 27:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I think you should, actually. Just to taunt him.
- 27:08Speaker 1: He's got a Haim tattoo, but it's nowhere near as
- 27:10Speaker 1: cool as mine. He's just got, like, a number 22 something,
- 27:13Speaker 1: or 222, or something that makes no fucking sense. Mine's
- 27:17Speaker 1: way more awesomer.
- 27:18Speaker 6: Many things he does fall on that cat car.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Jay's waiting for fake Feldman to be at the convention.
- 27:21Speaker 1: He wants to get a picture of him together.
- 27:22Speaker 5: It's gonna be so awesome.
- 27:23Speaker 1: It's gonna be, like, divided by zero. Like, the world's
- 27:25Speaker 1: gonna collapse on itself.
- 27:26Speaker 6: Hit very mild line, actually.
- 27:29Speaker 1: He saw him at the hill. There was another spotting.
- 27:30Speaker 8: He saw him in the neighborhood the other day walking through.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Jay was working on his motorcycle out in the driveway.
- 27:35Speaker 1: He was trying to call me.
- 27:36Speaker 6: He's like the Bigfoot of your neighborhood.
- 27:37Speaker 1: He is, dude.
- 27:39Speaker 8: He's our local Sasquatch.
- 27:40Speaker 6: Jay's going to have blurry 8mm footage.
- 27:43Speaker 1: He saw the picture. Did you see the picture?
- 27:46Speaker 7: I think he posted it, yeah. Once again, like Sasquatch,
- 27:49Speaker 7: you can't see what the hell it is.
- 27:51Speaker 1: He walked by the other day. Jay was trying to
- 27:53Speaker 1: call me. He couldn't get his phone out fast enough.
- 27:55Speaker 1: By the time he got his phone out, he was
- 27:56Speaker 1: already gone. I'm like, dude, why don't you just fucking
- 27:59Speaker 1: talk to him? He's like, dude, come here.
- 28:01Speaker 6: Just give him a flyer for horn. You're like, dude,
- 28:03Speaker 6: you have to be there.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I'm like, this time he was wearing his hat and
- 28:07Speaker 1: a letterman's jacket, which I'm not sure which era of
- 28:09Speaker 1: Feldman that would have been.
- 28:11Speaker 7: Well, that's more of like an early part of Thriller
- 28:14Speaker 7: for Michael since he's ripping off Michael. That's what he's
- 28:17Speaker 7: wearing in the opening part of Thriller, isn't it?
- 28:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I've only seen this guy once. I'm beginning to think,
- 28:21Speaker 1: you know, that maybe Jay just got this weird thing
- 28:23Speaker 1: in his head. I don't know. I've only seen him
- 28:25Speaker 1: once and I saw him in a Target and I'm like,
- 28:27Speaker 1: I think it's when we saw.
- 28:28Speaker 8: Him in his full-on outfit. We saw him, like, the
- 28:31Speaker 8: whole outfit. We saw him. We could walk right past him.
- 28:33Speaker 8: We followed him around Target. I think I went to
- 28:35Speaker 8: the toy department. And through every other department.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I don't know why we didn't.
- 28:39Speaker 8: Get a picture then. So I think it's become, like,
- 28:41Speaker 8: an obsession with Jay.
- 28:42Speaker 5: It really has, actually.
- 28:44Speaker 1: I'm wondering if he's just making it up.
- 28:46Speaker 8: If I hadn't seen, like, a blurry picture, which.
- 28:48Speaker 6: Doesn't put him in anybody for all I know. Once again,
- 28:50Speaker 6: this could be a hoax.
- 28:51Speaker 8: I'm beginning to wonder.
- 28:52Speaker 5: He's the new.
- 28:54Speaker 8: It's a figment of Jay's imagination.
- 28:56Speaker 6: He's the new cryptid that's thrown into our mix here.
- 28:58Speaker 8: It's like he's Fred or something.
- 29:02Speaker 6: Hold on, drop dead Fred, our imaginary friend. I was like,
- 29:04Speaker 6: our occasional co-host?
- 29:06Speaker 8: No, drop dead Fred, our imaginary friend.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Except for him to be Jason's imaginary friend, they might
- 29:12Speaker 1: actually have to talk or something.
- 29:14Speaker 6: Maybe he does talk to you. Maybe he just doesn't
- 29:17Speaker 6: tell you that part.
- 29:19Speaker 8: Maybe he keeps him locked in the garage. That's why
- 29:22Speaker 8: I don't ever go out there.
- 29:24Speaker 5: Could be.
- 29:25Speaker 8: Alright, what else?
- 29:26Speaker 1: I didn't do anything. I bought some pop-up books used,
- 29:32Speaker 1: which means I had to spend a lot of time
- 29:33Speaker 1: fixing pop-up books. Motherfuckers don't try to fix pop-up books
- 29:38Speaker 1: by taping them down to the goddamn page that's not
- 29:40Speaker 1: gonna fix a fucking pop-up book and it's going to
- 29:43Speaker 1: make it worse moron so I bought my book it's
- 29:47Speaker 1: movies I forget what the exact title of it but
- 29:49Speaker 1: it's got different pages for movies and I get to
- 29:51Speaker 1: the page this is the Casablanca page and I fold
- 29:53Speaker 1: it up and everything pops up except for the piano
- 29:56Speaker 1: player and his piano which is taped to the fucking.
- 29:59Speaker 6: Page believe that would be Sam.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Anyways, I had to get some tape and some super
- 30:04Speaker 1: glue and I had to fix that shit. I do
- 30:05Speaker 1: not like broke-ass pop-up books. That's the second one that
- 30:09Speaker 1: I bought that I had to... That's the third one
- 30:11Speaker 1: that I bought that I had to fucking fix. My
- 30:13Speaker 1: Star Trek one, I had to fix that shit. I
- 30:15Speaker 1: bought my Hitchcock one, which was fucking new. I shouldn't
- 30:18Speaker 1: have had to fucking fix that shit. People will fucking
- 30:22Speaker 1: abuse their pop-up books. There's something wrong with America. You
- 30:25Speaker 1: can't take care of a goddamn pop-up book. What?
- 30:28Speaker 11: What?
- 30:29Speaker 5: Jay's not here this week, so your rant is, what's
- 30:32Speaker 5: wrong with the world?
- 30:34Speaker 8: People that abuse pop-up books. Fuckers. If anybody out there
- 30:38Speaker 8: has any.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Suggestions for good pop-up books, I'm looking for some awesome ones.
- 30:42Speaker 6: Misty's Pop-Up Book Club.
- 30:43Speaker 1: I'm telling you. First one I remember having was my
- 30:46Speaker 1: pop-up book of nightmares, which is fucking awesome.
- 30:48Speaker 8: I need the phobias. I don't have the phobia one yet.
- 30:51Speaker 6: I have a fold-out book of skeletons.
- 30:54Speaker 8: I forget which ones I have.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I have some of the Nightmare ones, but I don't
- 30:56Speaker 1: remember what they were. But they're fucking on some skeletons,
- 30:59Speaker 1: and there's a monster. I don't have the Mommy one either.
- 31:00Speaker 1: That one's pretty awesome. I want the Mommy one. You
- 31:03Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about?
- 31:04Speaker 8: There's Dracula, and there's Frankenstein. It's fucking awesome.
- 31:07Speaker 1: That's all they did, I think. All right. That's all
- 31:11Speaker 1: the new Conan the Barbarian trailer. It looks fucking stupid.
- 31:14Speaker 5: I think I'm glad I haven't seen it, but now
- 31:16Speaker 5: I'm going to have to watch it.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I'm retarded.
- 31:18Speaker 7: Everything we heard about it last year made it sound
- 31:20Speaker 7: worse and worse as it went on.
- 31:22Speaker 8: This ain't helping.
- 31:23Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm not surprised. It looks really bad.
- 31:26Speaker 7: So, if nothing else, we can use this as a
- 31:30Speaker 7: good time to tell people about a new development with
- 31:32Speaker 7: the show.
- 31:33Speaker 5: We are now.
- 31:33Speaker 8: What about pop-ups?
- 31:35Speaker 6: I don't know. Do you have, like, audio pop-ups?
- 31:37Speaker 1: That would be awesome.
- 31:40Speaker 6: That popped into your ears.
- 31:41Speaker 1: That might hurt.
- 31:43Speaker 6: Probably.
- 31:44Speaker 5: So don't do that. But instead, we are now sponsored
- 31:48Speaker 5: by Tweaked Audio.
- 31:50Speaker 8: Hell yeah!
- 31:51Speaker 7: And we've now got a nice, cool little setup going
- 31:55Speaker 7: with them. And we not only are going to tell
- 31:58Speaker 7: you about Tweaked Audio, but we can actually give you.
- 32:00Speaker 5: A special deal because you're Movie Meltdown listeners.
- 32:04Speaker 1: I like deals. He'll jail.
- 32:05Speaker 7: So, I mean, this is just sort of the basic kickoff.
- 32:07Speaker 7: We'll continue to pass the word as we go on.
- 32:10Speaker 7: But just their rundown, you know, go to tweakedaudio.com. They
- 32:15Speaker 7: have at least three different styles. They're varying colors. And yeah,
- 32:21Speaker 7: it's actually I mean, looking at them, the quality on
- 32:25Speaker 7: them is I'm still getting mine.
- 32:27Speaker 6: I just kind of came across them and we set
- 32:29Speaker 6: this up. So I'm getting my pair as we speak.
- 32:31Speaker 5: But it's just like the price wise is about the
- 32:36Speaker 5: same as what I bought at cheesy stores over the years.
- 32:38Speaker 5: And certainly once you use the discount, it will be.
- 32:42Speaker 5: And just quality-wise, it's, you know, supposedly a lot better.
- 32:46Speaker 7: It comes with a warranty, which good luck getting that
- 32:49Speaker 7: for most of the crappy ones that I just threw
- 32:50Speaker 7: away on a regular basis.
- 32:53Speaker 6: And, yeah, if nothing else, free shipping around the world.
- 32:56Speaker 5: I love free shipping.
- 32:58Speaker 7: And, you know, even to our friends in other countries
- 33:00Speaker 7: who are going through horrible, horrible situations.
- 33:03Speaker 5: Free shipping. So, I mean, can that brighten your day?
- 33:06Speaker 12: Anyways.
- 33:07Speaker 7: So, yeah, if nothing else, we do have a new
- 33:10Speaker 7: setup going with them now. So go to tweakedaudio.com, and
- 33:14Speaker 7: if you enter in the special code, we have our
- 33:17Speaker 7: own code. So when it asks you for the discount code,
- 33:20Speaker 7: put Meltdown.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Oh, hell yeah. We are so fucking awesome.
- 33:24Speaker 5: You will get a 33% discount. Oh, hell yeah.
- 33:28Speaker 7: Knocking a third off of the price of these just
- 33:30Speaker 7: because you are an awesome movie meltdown listener.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Are you spitting numerologies at me?
- 33:34Speaker 5: Yes, I am.
- 33:34Speaker 7: I have numbers and shit.
- 33:38Speaker 5: Yep, 33% off. So, I mean, the more I thought
- 33:41Speaker 5: about it, I mean, I threw it out there to
- 33:43Speaker 5: them and was talking to them about it, and I
- 33:44Speaker 5: was like, is there any better tie-in for a podcast?
- 33:48Speaker 6: I mean, short of the player itself, it's like, what
- 33:50Speaker 6: else do you use?
- 33:52Speaker 5: And in my case, I'm assuming you guys go through
- 33:54Speaker 5: the same thing, I end up buying them.
- 33:56Speaker 6: Pretty regularly because they're usually crappy and I don't. The
- 34:01Speaker 6: ones that you get at the stores are kind of cheap.
- 34:03Speaker 7: And so as often as I go through them, it
- 34:06Speaker 7: would be nice to have a good pair and, you know,
- 34:08Speaker 7: not have that issue.
- 34:09Speaker 1: So hopefully you won't have that problem with our sponsor's
- 34:12Speaker 1: product and it will be awesome and last you forever.
- 34:15Speaker 5: Oh, you'll find out when you go to tweakedaudio.com.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Tweet. Tweet.
- 34:21Speaker 7: So, yep, go to Tweaked Audio, enter the discount code Meltdown,
- 34:24Speaker 7: and get a third off of the price and free shipping.
- 34:27Speaker 1: You can't beat that with a goddamn stick.
- 34:29Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying.
- 34:30Speaker 6: All right, on that little advertisement, we'll take our.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Tweaked is fun to say.
- 34:35Speaker 6: It is pretty fun to say. Go ahead, one more time.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Tweaked. Tweaked, tweaked.
- 34:40Speaker 6: Say that to yourself as you're ordering your pair.
- 34:43Speaker 7: So, we will take a break and be back with
- 34:46Speaker 7: the first stage here in our little special tribute this week.
- 34:51Speaker 1: I don't know. This has already stretched out kind of
- 34:52Speaker 1: long enough to be almost a whole episode.
- 34:53Speaker 6: Yeah, it kind of is.
- 34:55Speaker 8: I ramble and rant about pop-up books.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Still, I'm serious. If anybody has any suggestions, I want
- 35:00Speaker 1: to know of good pop-up books because I'm fucking running
- 35:02Speaker 1: into a wall. I'm going to watch a fucking kiddie-fat shit.
- 35:05Speaker 1: I want something fucking awesome. I don't want the pop-up
- 35:07Speaker 1: book of sex because that just seems kind of creepy.
- 35:09Speaker 6: It's out there.
- 35:10Speaker 11: No, really, dude.
- 35:11Speaker 1: It's out there. I've seen pictures. Yikes. I don't want
- 35:14Speaker 1: that shit coming at me in 3D.
- 35:17Speaker 5: That's what the real world's for.
- 35:18Speaker 8: That's what she's for.
- 35:20Speaker 1: It's pretty bad to do my own that's what she
- 35:21Speaker 1: said once but whatever there's nobody else here and if
- 35:23Speaker 1: I can do it Marlena would have.
- 35:25Speaker 7: Said it yes she probably somewhere right now just said
- 35:27Speaker 7: it anyway about god knows what Marlena.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Should have been too busy texting on her phone and
- 35:31Speaker 1: noticed I said it.
- 35:34Speaker 5: Hello, little red riding hood. I heard about you, and
- 35:39Speaker 5: it's all been good. I want to meet you, so I'm.
- 35:41Speaker 15: Standing at your door. I better knock until my knuckles
- 35:45Speaker 15: are sore.
- 35:46Speaker 5: Baby, let me in.
- 35:47Speaker 15: I want to be your friend. Bang, bang, biddly-bang, baby,
- 35:50Speaker 15: let me in. I better talk into the three little pigs.
- 35:56Speaker 15: I heard they saw your man and flipped their wings.
- 35:59Speaker 15: Said you're the swinginest, and that's no lie. I dig you, baby,
- 36:03Speaker 15: for for you I got a Please replace the speaker
- 36:06Speaker 15: on its rack when you're ready to leave. Failure to
- 36:09Speaker 15: do so will damage.
- 36:11Speaker 5: Both the speaker and your car.
- 36:13Speaker 15: We'll be grateful and so will the patrons who follow you.
- 36:38Speaker 3: A family pet. A bedtime story. The familiar landscape of childhood.
- 36:45Speaker 1: You have to come out sometime.
- 36:46Speaker 11: You can't sulk in there forever.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Where witches and wolves are the forces of evil. Where
- 36:58Speaker 3: good will triumph and all will end happily.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Your granny spoils you. She makes you think you're something special.
- 37:05Speaker 1: That red show.
- 37:06Speaker 3: But this is no fairy tale. This is where legend
- 37:15Speaker 3: ends and survival begins. Where the dreams of childhood hold
- 37:19Speaker 3: no promise of a happy ending.
- 37:21Speaker 11: Big eyes you have.
- 37:23Speaker 1: The worst kind of wolves are hairy on the inside.
- 37:27Speaker 11: And when they bite you, they drag you with them
- 37:29Speaker 11: to hell.
- 37:38Speaker 5: When I killed it, it was a wolf.
- 37:40Speaker 1: And then before my very eyes....
- 37:47Speaker 3: Neither child nor adult.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Wolf nor human.
- 37:51Speaker 3: This is the twilight world, which lies between the pages
- 37:55Speaker 3: of any fairy tale.
- 37:56Speaker 11: My, what big arms do you have?
- 37:58Speaker 5: To deny it.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Is to kill the child that lives within us all.
- 38:02Speaker 3: To enter it. is to kill the dreams of childhood.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Jesus, what big teeth you have! No! Where did.
- 38:12Speaker 5: You hear a story like that?
- 38:14Speaker 11: Not a story, but God's honest truth. Granny told.
- 38:24Speaker 6: Me.
- 38:25Speaker 3: The company of wolves. They are all the company we keep,
- 38:29Speaker 3: even in our dreams.
- 38:36Speaker 11: But I have proof, and tonight I'm going to show
- 38:41Speaker 11: you something.
- 38:44Speaker 5: Make you believe. Hi, I'm Dee Wallace, and you're listening
- 38:55Speaker 5: to Movie Meltdown.
- 38:56Speaker 16: Movie Meltdown Wow.
- 39:02Speaker 11: What are you kids watching? The newsletters turned into a werewolf.
- 39:06Speaker 1: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 39:12Speaker 3: Once there was a girl who went to take some
- 39:14Speaker 3: bread and milk to her granny.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Who's that I see walking in these woods?
- 39:25Speaker 5: Why is it a red riding hood?
- 39:32Speaker 12: Hey there little red riding hood You sure are looking.
- 39:39Speaker 17: Good Everything a big bad wolf could want Now listen to.
- 39:47Speaker 5: Me Are we ready? I'm ready and I'm not going
- 39:51Speaker 5: to be.
- 39:51Speaker 6: Me too.
- 39:54Speaker 5: All right, well. That was an experience.
- 39:57Speaker 7: Yeah, we just watched our feature. I guess this would
- 40:00Speaker 7: be the sofa theater feature. It's a short film, the
- 40:04Speaker 7: sofa theater feature.
- 40:05Speaker 6: But, yeah, we... Short?
- 40:07Speaker 1: Clocked in at, what, 11 minutes or so?
- 40:09Speaker 6: It's a little over 11 minutes, but... 11.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Minutes of what the fuck just happened?
- 40:14Speaker 5: We'll get to that.
- 40:15Speaker 7: For a long time now, and I guess I've been
- 40:18Speaker 7: slightly obsessed with the little red theme over the years.
- 40:22Speaker 7: I'd say it definitely kicked off with Freeway.
- 40:25Speaker 1: It was fucking awesome.
- 40:26Speaker 7: And I think we both watched Freeway together. We both
- 40:30Speaker 7: were really sold on that one. If there's any reason
- 40:34Speaker 7: we both liked Reese for a couple years there, it's
- 40:36Speaker 7: because she's so fucking awesome.
- 40:38Speaker 1: You shot a whole bunch of times.
- 40:39Speaker 6: She's awesome in that movie. So that sort of kicked
- 40:43Speaker 6: off a weird fascination.
- 40:44Speaker 7: And then since then, I've been watching all these, like,
- 40:47Speaker 7: you can almost trace it going through other movies. And
- 40:50Speaker 7: the Little Red Riding Hood theme is just a weird
- 40:53Speaker 7: thing that keeps popping up. And now, you know, so
- 40:56Speaker 7: I've wanted to track down a lot of different versions
- 40:59Speaker 7: of it and just sort of look at them all.
- 41:01Speaker 7: So I thought it would be an interesting series to
- 41:04Speaker 7: go through here. Our Little Red series that just kind
- 41:07Speaker 7: of looks at all the different Little Red Riding Hood movies.
- 41:10Speaker 7: variations and adaptions and all this stuff.
- 41:13Speaker 1: And I found this one.
- 41:15Speaker 7: Yeah, this was one that did, you know, the new
- 41:17Speaker 7: movie coming out, it sort of put it back on
- 41:20Speaker 7: the list of stuff I wanted to do.
- 41:21Speaker 5: But then Misty, this past week, brought up this film
- 41:26Speaker 5: that she had heard of.
- 41:27Speaker 7: And I don't think I'd heard of it. So I thought, okay, well,
- 41:31Speaker 7: let's see if we can track it down. So this
- 41:34Speaker 7: week's short film stuff we need to feature is.
- 41:37Speaker 6: Is it 1997 movie?
- 41:39Speaker 5: It is just entitled Little Red Riding Hood.
- 41:42Speaker 7: It is 1997. The director is David Kaplan, also the
- 41:47Speaker 7: writer on this one, so now we.
- 41:48Speaker 6: Know who to blame.
- 41:51Speaker 5: Spoiler alert, go seek this out.
- 41:54Speaker 6: It's fucked up.
- 41:57Speaker 7: I feel like you need to see it to fully
- 42:00Speaker 7: appreciate what we're about to ruin, so full-on spoiler alert.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 42:05Speaker 5: All right.
- 42:06Speaker 7: The main reason I wanted to see it when she
- 42:08Speaker 7: told me about it, other than the Little Red theme,
- 42:10Speaker 7: was the fact that Little Red is played by Christina Ricci.
- 42:14Speaker 5: A 16-year-old Christina Ricci. A 16-year-old.
- 42:17Speaker 6: Wait, maybe I shouldn't say that in that fashion.
- 42:20Speaker 5: I can't help it.
- 42:21Speaker 6: Even at 16, she was hot.
- 42:22Speaker 1: And she got big old boobies.
- 42:24Speaker 5: Yeah, they kicked in early and quite hard. Because, you know,
- 42:27Speaker 5: you go back and look at, you know, Casper.
- 42:29Speaker 6: She's a normal girl.
- 42:30Speaker 5: Even the Addams Family stuff.
- 42:33Speaker 6: She's still a kid.
- 42:34Speaker 5: But, like, she hit 16.
- 42:36Speaker 12: Damn.
- 42:38Speaker 7: She became womanly very quickly. So, yeah, the plot, according
- 42:43Speaker 7: to this.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Is a.
- 42:45Speaker 5: There was a plot to this piece of shit? Well,
- 42:47Speaker 5: it doesn't even give a plot synopsis. It says, a
- 42:50Speaker 5: black comedy version of this classic tale. which I disagree
- 42:54Speaker 5: with on several levels. I will say it's a version
- 42:57Speaker 5: of the classic tale.
- 42:58Speaker 1: And it's black as in it's black and white.
- 43:00Speaker 6: Black as in the way, yeah, it's jacked up.
- 43:03Speaker 5: I don't know, whatever.
- 43:04Speaker 6: So, all right, where would you like to begin with this?
- 43:07Speaker 8: I don't even know where to fucking start. It's such
- 43:09Speaker 8: a big old mess.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Let's start with the wolf.
- 43:11Speaker 5: All right. The wolf.
- 43:12Speaker 1: His ballerina moves. He's like a fucking cast member.
- 43:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I did not.
- 43:18Speaker 7: Of all this stuff, granted, I didn't even watch the
- 43:20Speaker 7: trailer going into it. I just saw some stills from it,
- 43:23Speaker 7: and from that, I really wanted to see it because
- 43:25Speaker 7: it's shot in black and white. It's got Christina Ricci
- 43:28Speaker 7: in the outfit and doing the full little red thing, so.
- 43:33Speaker 5: I kind of took it a very different way. I
- 43:34Speaker 5: expected it to be.
- 43:35Speaker 7: You know, a cool indie short film and have like
- 43:39Speaker 7: really cool visuals and be like kind of creepy because
- 43:42Speaker 7: they're playing on the classic Little Red Story.
- 43:45Speaker 8: It was more what the fuck than creepy.
- 43:47Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a lot what the fuck.
- 43:49Speaker 1: I think it was like 11 minutes and I think
- 43:51Speaker 1: I said what the fuck like 12 times.
- 43:53Speaker 6: I think I just kind of.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Went what the fuck.
- 43:57Speaker 6: Yeah, there was a lot of just throwing my hands
- 43:59Speaker 6: over my eyes and Oh, the goat.
- 44:01Speaker 8: We forgot the goat.
- 44:02Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, we start off.
- 44:04Speaker 6: Our first image is Christina Ricci.
- 44:06Speaker 1: By the river.
- 44:07Speaker 5: And a goat.
- 44:08Speaker 11: And a goat.
- 44:09Speaker 1: Sometimes, not often, but sometimes. I like the idea of
- 44:12Speaker 1: a girl and a goat.
- 44:14Speaker 8: It's not like she's just sitting there petting a goat.
- 44:16Speaker 1: There's nothing going on with a goat.
- 44:18Speaker 5: Yeah, it doesn't get creepy.
- 44:19Speaker 1: There's nothing weird about the goat.
- 44:20Speaker 6: It doesn't get creepy in that way until a few
- 44:22Speaker 6: minutes later.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's even creepier.
- 44:25Speaker 6: It gets way creepier. So, yeah, you get the shot
- 44:28Speaker 6: of her with the goat.
- 44:29Speaker 5: And again, at this point, it's promising.
- 44:30Speaker 7: It's well shot visually. It's got cool black and white
- 44:35Speaker 7: action going on. It's Christina Ricci in the outfit. Everything's
- 44:38Speaker 7: good at that point.
- 44:39Speaker 8: And then you get the wolf.
- 44:40Speaker 6: Enter the wolf. Now, once again.
- 44:42Speaker 1: It manages to be even less manly than any character
- 44:45Speaker 1: in Twilight.
- 44:45Speaker 7: I expected it to be... Again, I didn't expect it
- 44:49Speaker 7: to even be an actor. I thought at best it
- 44:51Speaker 7: would be sort of like... either well i was hoping
- 44:54Speaker 7: like originally i think i thought more of like an
- 44:56Speaker 7: actual wolf and they were going to work in like
- 44:58Speaker 7: you know.
- 44:59Speaker 6: Maybe not make it so fairy tale.
- 45:01Speaker 7: Like but make it more of a realistic version and
- 45:04Speaker 7: then i thought maybe it would be more like costumed
- 45:06Speaker 7: you know more like a a special effects filled you
- 45:10Speaker 7: know sam winston version of the.
- 45:12Speaker 5: Wolf but no no no this is the most Swan
- 45:17Speaker 5: Lake version of a wolf.
- 45:18Speaker 1: He looks like a reject from fucking the Cats.
- 45:20Speaker 5: Kind of.
- 45:21Speaker 7: But, I mean, his moves are more Swan Lake. Like,
- 45:23Speaker 7: the whole thing takes on this very... Now, granted, the
- 45:26Speaker 7: wolf is played by.
- 45:28Speaker 5: Well, I'll go with.
- 45:29Speaker 7: My visual is we just made fun of this last week,
- 45:31Speaker 7: but I was like, what is that, Russell.
- 45:32Speaker 6: Brand playing the wolf?
- 45:35Speaker 5: He had that, like, dark Tiny Tim look that we
- 45:37Speaker 5: made fun of Russell Brand for having last week. That's
- 45:40Speaker 5: kind of what he looks like.
- 45:41Speaker 6: Only in a furry suit. If he wasn't wearing, like,
- 45:43Speaker 6: a bad suit. Ballerina.
- 45:45Speaker 1: I went out with a ballerina once. Once. He took
- 45:48Speaker 1: me to see Kenny Rogers.
- 45:51Speaker 6: This is a weird story all.
- 45:52Speaker 8: On its own.
- 45:54Speaker 1: I would not go see Kenny Rogers with the ballerina
- 45:57Speaker 1: wolf from this movie. He freaks me the fuck out.
- 45:59Speaker 6: Yeah, he really does.
- 46:00Speaker 1: And not in a good way. It's in a ugh
- 46:02Speaker 1: kind of way. Yes.
- 46:04Speaker 6: His name is Timber... Timber? Timbor... Bortek.
- 46:10Speaker 5: Bortesinkov. I'm going to take a wild guess that he's Russian.
- 46:17Speaker 5: Are you okay?
- 46:21Speaker 6: Are you turning into an animal.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Of some sort?
- 46:29Speaker 5: Here's a surprise. He's an international dancer.
- 46:31Speaker 1: What the hell are you saying?
- 46:33Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 46:33Speaker 8: I wonder if he likes Kenny Rogers.
- 46:35Speaker 7: Once again, he began his career and education at the
- 46:39Speaker 7: Moldovan Opera House in the Burshkov Ballet.
- 46:43Speaker 6: Yeah, so I'd say a whole lot of Russian going
- 46:45Speaker 6: on in this guy.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Yeah, whatever. He's fucking weird.
- 46:47Speaker 6: He's pretty fucking weird.
- 46:49Speaker 5: And his filmography entails Little Red Riding Hood, and that's it.
- 46:55Speaker 5: So his career didn't pan out after this.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Oh, God. What else weird was there?
- 47:01Speaker 5: Only on film.
- 47:01Speaker 7: Maybe he is a phenomenal star on stage.
- 47:04Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 47:05Speaker 7: I'm not going to knock you as your stage performance.
- 47:07Speaker 7: Haven't seen it and don't really care to. But as
- 47:11Speaker 7: a film actor, let me just say, dude is creepy
- 47:15Speaker 7: in a bad way, and I don't understand why. It's
- 47:19Speaker 7: just a weird mixture. It's like I don't understand. Again,
- 47:21Speaker 7: I went in expecting a cool, creepy take on Little Red.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Me too. I'm sorry, dude.
- 47:26Speaker 5: And it doesn't... Well, no, I'm glad I've seen it.
- 47:28Speaker 7: Like, I wanted to see this, but I didn't expect
- 47:30Speaker 7: this because it doesn't match. Like, if the entire thing
- 47:33Speaker 7: was done as, like, a Swan Lake version of Little
- 47:36Speaker 7: Red Riding Hood, I think I'd be okay with that.
- 47:39Speaker 7: It probably wouldn't be, like, top of my list of
- 47:41Speaker 7: favorite versions, but.
- 47:42Speaker 5: What about just, like, with.
- 47:42Speaker 1: The creepy factor, which there was some creepy.
- 47:44Speaker 6: It's like one or the other.
- 47:45Speaker 7: It's like if it went with the cool, gothy, dark,
- 47:48Speaker 7: you know, black and white version of, you know, just
- 47:50Speaker 7: doing a creepy version of Little Red, that would be awesome. Or, again,
- 47:54Speaker 7: if they wanted to take it as an entire ballet
- 47:57Speaker 7: version of it, again, I'm sure that's out there. That's
- 47:59Speaker 7: not that unheard of for them to do that sort
- 48:01Speaker 7: of take on something.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Don't throw that shit together.
- 48:04Speaker 5: Yeah, you don't make a mashup out of it.
- 48:06Speaker 7: You don't take a weird indie film and jam in
- 48:09Speaker 7: ballet and then expect it to come out okay because
- 48:12Speaker 7: it doesn't.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Or a damn bit of sense because it doesn't.
- 48:15Speaker 7: So, I mean, that right off the bat, when you
- 48:17Speaker 7: get this two-minute intro of him like, swirling around and
- 48:21Speaker 7: doing flips and spinning in circles.
- 48:25Speaker 5: But this is just his introduction.
- 48:26Speaker 7: This is him, like when we, the reveal of the
- 48:28Speaker 7: wolf is him in a meadow dancing around and doing all.
- 48:32Speaker 6: These crazy moves.
- 48:33Speaker 7: And all of a sudden I'm already like, okay, this
- 48:35Speaker 7: movie's taking a weird turn. And then, I don't know,
- 48:40Speaker 7: do we want to get to anything before we get
- 48:42Speaker 7: to the house? I mean, then he just prances off
- 48:44Speaker 7: down a different... A lot of prancing. I mean, at
- 48:46Speaker 7: that point, it doesn't veer too far from the original story.
- 48:49Speaker 7: It's which path are you going to take, and he
- 48:51Speaker 7: takes the other one to get ahead of her and
- 48:53Speaker 7: get to grandmother's house first.
- 48:54Speaker 1: There's the path of pins and the path of needles,
- 48:55Speaker 1: which is.
- 48:56Speaker 7: Which is all pretty standard, I suppose. So, do we
- 49:00Speaker 7: even get the grandmother? I mean, then he enters them
- 49:03Speaker 7: and the grandmother's there, but we don't even see the.
- 49:06Speaker 5: Attack.
- 49:06Speaker 6: We don't see him take out Grandma.
- 49:08Speaker 1: No, we just see him putting her bloods in a
- 49:10Speaker 1: bottle and then her flesh in a bowl.
- 49:13Speaker 7: Yeah, that's pretty much it. And we assume she's gone.
- 49:16Speaker 7: I like him like the disneyer versions they like he
- 49:19Speaker 7: like ties her up and puts her in the cellar
- 49:21Speaker 7: or something but no this one we he definitely takes
- 49:24Speaker 7: her out but we don't see any of that once
- 49:26Speaker 7: again you miss you miss the horror end of it
- 49:28Speaker 7: if you were gonna do a creepy gothic version of
- 49:30Speaker 7: this you know let's see a big bloody version of
- 49:33Speaker 7: him taking out grandma but no we don't get that
- 49:35Speaker 7: either But.
- 49:36Speaker 1: You get to the house, which looks just like a
- 49:38Speaker 1: fucking prop out of the cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Yes.
- 49:42Speaker 1: I'm probably saying that shit wrong.
- 49:43Speaker 6: I mean, it very much does.
- 49:45Speaker 7: The entire interior, once again, most people of this generation
- 49:50Speaker 7: would be like, wow, it looks just like they ripped off.
- 49:52Speaker 6: Tim Burton, but.
- 49:53Speaker 7: Anybody who knows, Tim Burton ripped it all off from
- 49:56Speaker 7: German Expressionism.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Once they were in the house, I'm like, hey, is
- 49:58Speaker 1: that the same fucking fireplace from Beetlejuice? Yep.
- 50:02Speaker 7: Once again, Tim Burton has been ripping that stuff off
- 50:04Speaker 7: for years. So, again, I like that visual. And it
- 50:08Speaker 7: also looks very cheap. Like, from the outside, it felt
- 50:11Speaker 7: like it was a prop.
- 50:11Speaker 11: A cardboard box.
- 50:12Speaker 6: It looked, yeah, it looked like it was just a
- 50:14Speaker 6: scene from a.
- 50:15Speaker 5: Stage play almost. And again, I'm like, that's fine.
- 50:18Speaker 7: Like, if you can kind of make that the overall
- 50:20Speaker 7: theme and make it, you know, that's how you're doing
- 50:23Speaker 7: this is just a very minimal version of it, that's fine.
- 50:26Speaker 6: But no, then he goes inside and it becomes an
- 50:27Speaker 6: actual house.
- 50:28Speaker 5: It becomes a set again. So I'm like, nothing matches
- 50:31Speaker 5: in this. Like, nothing goes together. And then we have
- 50:34Speaker 5: it right off the bat when he, when she goes
- 50:35Speaker 5: in the house, we have a.
- 50:38Speaker 1: It sounds like, is that Miss Henrietta?
- 50:40Speaker 6: It kind of looked like Tootsies.
- 50:42Speaker 5: I was like, what?
- 50:43Speaker 1: Henrietta Pussycat, what are you talking about?
- 50:45Speaker 5: I was like, what?
- 50:46Speaker 6: Why is there a puppet all of a sudden?
- 50:48Speaker 5: Once again.
- 50:49Speaker 1: There's got to be a puppet. They're thinking it's time
- 50:51Speaker 1: that sluts eat the flesh of their grandparents.
- 50:54Speaker 6: Yeah, as soon as she walks in the door, the
- 50:56Speaker 6: puppet calls her a slut.
- 50:57Speaker 1: I'm like, what?
- 50:58Speaker 6: And I actually said out loud, oh, so you've seen
- 51:00Speaker 6: Black Snake Moan.
- 51:02Speaker 5: So, yeah, I.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:07Speaker 6: It's so weird.
- 51:08Speaker 7: There's a weird puppet talking to her. She sits down
- 51:10Speaker 7: and starts eating the flesh of her grandmother.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Which makes her a slut.
- 51:12Speaker 5: Which makes her a slut, which I'm sure, you know,
- 51:15Speaker 5: you've seen her outfit. I'm sure it would happen anyway.
- 51:18Speaker 6: And it does kind of immediately.
- 51:20Speaker 5: So then.
- 51:23Speaker 5: I guess the next weird thing is Grandma tells her
- 51:25Speaker 5: to take her clothes off.
- 51:26Speaker 1: And throw them in the fireplace.
- 51:28Speaker 5: And she's okay with this.
- 51:29Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but if my grandmother ever told me to
- 51:31Speaker 1: take my clothes off and get in bed with her,
- 51:33Speaker 1: that's not what I'm going to be doing.
- 51:34Speaker 7: Yeah, I like your grandma, but I would be massively
- 51:36Speaker 7: creeped out if she asked you to do that.
- 51:38Speaker 5: Dude, seriously.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Why?
- 51:40Speaker 5: Is it okay? And again, she's still supposed to be
- 51:43Speaker 5: a little girl. Which doesn't make it any better. Well,
- 51:46Speaker 5: I mean, is Little Red supposed to be 16?
- 51:48Speaker 15: I don't know.
- 51:48Speaker 7: I mean, I don't know what take they're doing on this.
- 51:51Speaker 7: But either way, if it's a little girl, it's creepy.
- 51:53Speaker 1: I don't know the look she was giving her grandma.
- 51:54Speaker 1: I'm assuming that she was at least supposed to be 16.
- 51:56Speaker 7: That's the part that's really weird is that the Christina
- 51:59Speaker 7: Ricci version of this Little Red, she doesn't have a
- 52:03Speaker 7: problem with this. She kind of alluringly starts taking it.
- 52:06Speaker 7: Where do I put these clothes then? And, you know,
- 52:09Speaker 7: so you're already kind of creeped out by the fact
- 52:12Speaker 7: that she's okay with this. Then Grandma slash Wolf tells
- 52:15Speaker 7: her to throw her clothes in the fire.
- 52:17Speaker 6: You're not going to need them anymore. Wouldn't you be
- 52:20Speaker 6: weirded out by that, too?
- 52:21Speaker 1: I do not like my clothes.
- 52:23Speaker 5: I think it's like I'm burning myself.
- 52:24Speaker 7: Yeah, and you won't need them anymore? Like, isn't that weird?
- 52:28Speaker 7: Where am I? A, if I'm going home later, I'm
- 52:32Speaker 7: going to be naked. Or B, you're going to kill me.
- 52:34Speaker 7: There's no good angle there. There's no upside to this plan.
- 52:39Speaker 7: Creepy as fuck. Then she gets in bed.
- 52:43Speaker 1: And the look she's giving her grandma as she gets
- 52:45Speaker 1: into bed, that's because she pulls like a little scream,
- 52:47Speaker 1: Courtney thing.
- 52:48Speaker 7: And the worst part, I guess, if there's a worst part,
- 52:51Speaker 7: is this, the narrator. We don't even have any, I mean,
- 52:54Speaker 7: you don't even get Christina delivering these lines. It's all
- 52:58Speaker 7: done with narration and the narrator saying Little Red's lines instead.
- 53:03Speaker 7: And it's done very cheesily. I guess this is the
- 53:06Speaker 7: angle that they're pretending like it's a comedy is that the.
- 53:10Speaker 1: He's narrating any kid's story.
- 53:12Speaker 7: Quentin Crisp is the narrator on this one, and I
- 53:15Speaker 7: think he does a really hammy job of it. I'm like,
- 53:17Speaker 7: once again, it's butting heads with what this wants to be,
- 53:21Speaker 7: because it's coming off like it wants to be kind
- 53:23Speaker 7: of creepy, but then his narration is really just, it
- 53:27Speaker 7: is playing it kind of like it's a kiddie story.
- 53:29Speaker 7: And I'm like, well, that doesn't match what we're looking at,
- 53:31Speaker 7: because She looks like she's ready to get it on.
- 53:33Speaker 1: With her grandmother.
- 53:34Speaker 7: And, you know, we've got creepy visuals here, but now
- 53:39Speaker 7: we're going to get into a weird comedy angle.
- 53:42Speaker 6: In a second that makes no damn sense.
- 53:44Speaker 5: So, yeah, at this point she's still just getting naked,
- 53:47Speaker 5: which here's the real downside.
- 53:49Speaker 6: We don't see any of this.
- 53:50Speaker 1: You see her feet. Granted, I guess. If you've got
- 53:52Speaker 1: a foot fetish.
- 53:53Speaker 5: She was 16.
- 53:53Speaker 6: I guess we shouldn't have seen anything.
- 53:55Speaker 5: But still.
- 53:56Speaker 1: You don't see her 16-year-old naked feet.
- 53:59Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 54:00Speaker 7: That's, you know, kind of a letdown. I was pretty
- 54:02Speaker 7: sure that wasn't going to happen. But still, you know,
- 54:05Speaker 7: Christina Ricci starts getting naked. You know, you want to
- 54:07Speaker 7: see that action.
- 54:08Speaker 6: But no, we don't get that either. So then, okay.
- 54:13Speaker 1: I don't even know if I want to talk about
- 54:14Speaker 1: the next part.
- 54:14Speaker 5: It's so fucking weird. It's so fucking weird.
- 54:17Speaker 6: That was the part where I just kind of started
- 54:18Speaker 6: screaming to myself because I.
- 54:20Speaker 8: We were sitting there together screaming.
- 54:22Speaker 5: Ah, what? No, no, no. What? So she gets in
- 54:28Speaker 5: bed naked with Grandma. And.
- 54:31Speaker 8: Notice how hairy she is.
- 54:32Speaker 6: Yeah, she immediately says, how hairy you are.
- 54:35Speaker 5: And I'm just like, oh, the jokes don't stop. I
- 54:39Speaker 5: don't even feel like making them.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I kept waiting for worse things for her to say.
- 54:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I kind of did too. Really, and again, if
- 54:43Speaker 5: you're going to do this, like, either do it, like,
- 54:46Speaker 5: a legitimately cool way, or if you're going to take
- 54:49Speaker 5: this down that road, because that's kind of what I
- 54:51Speaker 5: went to, you know, sort of examine in this series,
- 54:55Speaker 5: is just how sexualized this fairy tale is.
- 54:58Speaker 6: I mean, it's a massively... Not even very veiled sexual story.
- 55:04Speaker 7: Especially as a lot of the other versions that go along,
- 55:07Speaker 7: there's a very sexual aspect to this fairy tale. So
- 55:11Speaker 7: I'm like, if you want to take it down that road,
- 55:12Speaker 7: then go ahead and grandma what big you have and
- 55:15Speaker 7: just go ahead and do it and take it down
- 55:17Speaker 7: that road and make it a very.
- 55:19Speaker 6: Weird sexual story.
- 55:20Speaker 5: But they don't do that either.
- 55:21Speaker 7: They pull that punch, and they stop at the usual,
- 55:23Speaker 7: what big teeth you have, what a big mouth you have.
- 55:26Speaker 1: There was no teeth mentioned.
- 55:27Speaker 6: The better to eat you with.
- 55:29Speaker 5: Yeah, there's your joke.
- 55:29Speaker 1: I was waiting for that one, too. I'm like, oh,
- 55:31Speaker 1: it's going to be that kind.
- 55:32Speaker 6: Oh, no. But no, we don't get it. Once again,
- 55:35Speaker 6: kind of a letdown. We don't get that.
- 55:37Speaker 1: No, what we do get, in fact, is.
- 55:39Speaker 5: Ten times weirder. Okay, what does she say next?
- 55:43Speaker 1: I need to go pee-pee.
- 55:46Speaker 6: That's weird enough. I was really not expecting his answer,
- 55:50Speaker 6: which is.
- 55:51Speaker 5: Go pee-pee here.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Go pee-pee in the bed.
- 55:55Speaker 5: And her response is, I gotta go caca.
- 55:58Speaker 6: I have to go caca.
- 56:00Speaker 5: And even weirder, he continues with, just go caca here.
- 56:04Speaker 1: Ew.
- 56:06Speaker 6: We were just, we're screaming at this point.
- 56:08Speaker 5: What?
- 56:09Speaker 11: What?
- 56:10Speaker 1: What? She's like, no, it'll be smelly.
- 56:14Speaker 5: Yeah, it will smell.
- 56:15Speaker 7: Okay, well, at least she's got common sense, unlike the wolf.
- 56:19Speaker 7: Or maybe he's just into some scat action.
- 56:21Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Gross!
- 56:23Speaker 5: Maybe he wanted some golden showers going on. But, well, no, again,
- 56:28Speaker 5: what else makes sense? Why would you tell her to
- 56:30Speaker 5: just do it here? You freak.
- 56:33Speaker 1: I guess he realizes that if she leaves, she's going
- 56:35Speaker 1: to fucking get away.
- 56:36Speaker 6: I guess, but at that point, just eat her now.
- 56:38Speaker 6: Quit delivering fucking dialogue.
- 56:41Speaker 1: I don't want to eat her when she's full of shit.
- 56:44Speaker 5: Is that really what's holding them back?
- 56:48Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 56:49Speaker 5: I don't know. This makes no sense at this point.
- 56:52Speaker 5: So then he lets her go outside.
- 56:55Speaker 1: She's tied with a rope.
- 56:57Speaker 7: He ties a little piece of string to her and then,
- 57:00Speaker 7: you know, keeps a line on her like it's Cool
- 57:02Speaker 7: Hand Luke.
- 57:03Speaker 6: I was going to say, yeah, she.
- 57:04Speaker 1: Throws Cool Hand Luke on his ass.
- 57:07Speaker 5: Going caca here, boss. Going caca.
- 57:10Speaker 17: So.
- 57:11Speaker 6: It's pretty much that same thing.
- 57:12Speaker 7: He lets her go out the door, and then he
- 57:14Speaker 7: keeps pulling it to make sure she's there, and eventually realizes, hey, it's.
- 57:17Speaker 5: Been a while.
- 57:18Speaker 6: I think Luke done run off on me.
- 57:20Speaker 1: No, it wasn't young. The pigeon off a loaf out there. Oh, God. Then, yeah.
- 57:27Speaker 7: As if it couldn't get dumber, he says, like, What
- 57:29Speaker 7: are you, dropping a big load? Yeah, I mean, he says, like,
- 57:33Speaker 7: both of those lines.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Squeezing out a deuce or something.
- 57:35Speaker 11: I was like, yeah.
- 57:36Speaker 1: This is actually in this fucking movie.
- 57:38Speaker 6: Yeah, we're not making jokes on that part. These lines
- 57:41Speaker 6: are actually in.
- 57:41Speaker 5: The narrator says them as the wolf.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Pinching off a loaf.
- 57:45Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 57:47Speaker 1: From the ballerina wolf.
- 57:48Speaker 6: Yeah, from ballerina wolf. I'm like, this movie is weird.
- 57:53Speaker 5: So then he... He prances outside and, like, looks at
- 57:58Speaker 5: the tree.
- 57:58Speaker 1: For, like, half the movie, he's staring at the tree.
- 58:01Speaker 5: She, yeah, the entire second half of the movie is
- 58:04Speaker 5: him deciding that, wait, I think she's untied it and
- 58:08Speaker 5: tied it to a plum tree.
- 58:09Speaker 1: And then he sits and stares at the damn tree.
- 58:11Speaker 5: So he swan lakes his way up to the tree. Like,
- 58:14Speaker 5: it's the most slow, drawn out, and then, like... expressive
- 58:20Speaker 5: way of looking at the tree with his hands and
- 58:23Speaker 5: his face and his dancing and it's yeah it's a
- 58:26Speaker 5: very swan licky way to look at the tree and
- 58:29Speaker 5: go just look out the door and go oh my
- 58:31Speaker 5: god she screwed me over she ran away just realize
- 58:33Speaker 5: that so yeah he does this and the entire rest
- 58:38Speaker 5: of the movie christina ricci's naked but once again we
- 58:40Speaker 5: don't get to see anything because she's got a sheet
- 58:42Speaker 5: on once again what version of the story is little
- 58:45Speaker 5: red naked half of the story Half of the running.
- 58:48Speaker 6: Time of the movie is Little Red Naked.
- 58:50Speaker 7: Not enough, I suppose. That one that I saw, but
- 58:53Speaker 7: I had to rent that one in the special room. So, again,
- 58:56Speaker 7: we don't get any of that, though.
- 58:58Speaker 5: So then it's just her running through the woods naked
- 59:01Speaker 5: in a sheet.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Well, she's taunting him first.
- 59:02Speaker 8: She's sitting there watching him.
- 59:04Speaker 6: She's looking at him.
- 59:05Speaker 1: She's watching him by the tree.
- 59:06Speaker 5: I'm like, really?
- 59:07Speaker 1: This is your whole point?
- 59:09Speaker 5: I like your question.
- 59:09Speaker 6: Is she actually going poop? She was just like looking
- 59:12Speaker 6: at him from behind a tree. I'm like, what is
- 59:15Speaker 6: she doing over there?
- 59:16Speaker 1: You could have made it home by now by the
- 59:17Speaker 1: time it took him to look at this fucking tree.
- 59:18Speaker 5: I know.
- 59:19Speaker 7: I'm like, if you're going to trick him, then go
- 59:21Speaker 7: home in this time that he's still waiting for. That's
- 59:23Speaker 7: the whole point of like tricking him is to be
- 59:26Speaker 7: making a break for it while he's still inside thinking
- 59:28Speaker 7: you're Making a douche. So instead, she sits there and
- 59:33Speaker 7: watches him the whole time.
- 59:34Speaker 1: And she gets his attention.
- 59:36Speaker 5: That defeats the purpose of this.
- 59:38Speaker 6: It makes no sense at all.
- 59:40Speaker 5: So then she runs home. The inn?
- 59:44Speaker 6: That's not how any of the stories I've ever heard
- 59:47Speaker 6: have gone.
- 59:47Speaker 1: There's no woodsman.
- 59:49Speaker 5: There's no woodsman. There's no taking care of the wolf.
- 59:52Speaker 7: There's no eating of anybody, which many versions of this
- 59:56Speaker 7: have entailed.
- 59:57Speaker 5: But no, in this one, she runs home to her house,
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: and she closes the door just as he gets to
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: the door.
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: The inn.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: What?
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: What?
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: How is that a story? How is that the rest
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: of the story?
- 1:00:12Speaker 11: Well, except for the.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Brief glimpse of his claw going down her face and
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: their sensual grandma wolf action.
- 1:00:18Speaker 7: Again, that's like the arty part of it. I mean,
- 1:00:21Speaker 7: it wants to be an arty movie, but it doesn't
- 1:00:24Speaker 7: know how to because it's busy talking about pooping.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Like a two-year-old. Yeah.
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: I mean, we have.
- 1:00:32Speaker 7: A juvenile sense of humor on this show, but... Even
- 1:00:35Speaker 7: I'm just like, really?
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: This is just dumb.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Like, I'm just like, this is.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: Just so taking you down the few notches you had
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: with the, you know, the cool black and white shots
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: and the, you know, the basic idea.
- 1:00:47Speaker 7: Of doing this is what seemed cool for a minute.
- 1:00:50Speaker 7: And then the goat left and it all went downhill.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: I would have rather just watched a movie about the goat.
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: I think so.
- 1:00:56Speaker 7: Just like her and the goat playing in a field
- 1:01:00Speaker 7: for 11 minutes. That would have been awesome compared to
- 1:01:03Speaker 7: the Swan Lake wolf that we get here.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Her and the goat pooping together.
- 1:01:08Speaker 6: That would have been more entertaining than this wolf.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: It's all a bunch of caca.
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: Yeah, it kind of is. Where's shirtless Taylor Loudon when
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: you need him?
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Dude, I would have rather had him.
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: I would have, too, is the sad part. At least
- 1:01:22Speaker 7: he doesn't dance around. He just takes his shirt off
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: at every chance he gets. But, yeah, he doesn't dance
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: and swan lake his way up to a tree when
- 1:01:31Speaker 7: he knows she's not even there anymore.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: He's not wetting his ass about.
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: Oh, God, it's so ridiculous.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: So, yeah.
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: Yeah, this one, not really a full....
- 1:01:42Speaker 8: We've talked about it like three times longer.
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: Yeah, pretty much. But again, you still have to go
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: watch it. You can't fully experience it without sitting there.
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: Just so you realize, we didn't fucking make this shit up.
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: Yeah, I would have assumed we were just lying about
- 1:01:54Speaker 6: most of this.
- 1:01:54Speaker 7: But no, it's equally as ridiculous and a little more
- 1:01:58Speaker 7: when you actually have to see it.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: We could make up something and have it make more
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: sense than this did.
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: I couldn't have made up.
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: I would have never.
- 1:02:05Speaker 7: ever been able to make up i need to go
- 1:02:07Speaker 7: caca i did not see that coming nor did i
- 1:02:12Speaker 7: expect it to be said in this movie so yeah
- 1:02:17Speaker 7: this is an odd entry into this series you're.
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: Welcome Didn't know... Wait, again? I totally appreciate the 16-year-old
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: version of Christina Ricci.
- 1:02:27Speaker 6: That I got to see.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: My eyes are bleeding.
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: But it doesn't make up for the fact that I
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: had to deal with the.
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: The rest of this movie?
- 1:02:34Speaker 7: The rest of the caca in this movie, because it
- 1:02:36Speaker 7: makes no sense. It doesn't know what it wants to be.
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: It's just badly thrown together in the rest of it.
- 1:02:44Speaker 7: I'm like, if you were going to bother to not
- 1:02:46Speaker 7: only do a version of this, but to get Christina
- 1:02:49Speaker 7: Ricci involved and get, I guess, this... talented ballet performer
- 1:02:55Speaker 7: I mean if you're gonna go to all this trouble
- 1:02:56Speaker 7: at least do something cool with it and Not just
- 1:02:59Speaker 7: do something dumb.
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: Not just do this. Not just take it down to the.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Caca level.
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: Yeah. It becomes potty humor in the last half of it.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: I was just blown away. I'm like, really?
- 1:03:11Speaker 8: They just said that?
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:13Speaker 7: I was like, at least make it a bad sexual overtones.
- 1:03:16Speaker 7: But no, it doesn't even go there after the look
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: she gives her grandmother. Then it just becomes potty humor.
- 1:03:22Speaker 6: And I'm like, yeah. I don't get it. I just
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: don't get it.
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: So.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: See, I had assumed the movie was like a series
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: of short stories, because from what I heard, it was
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Little Red Riding Hood and other tales.
- 1:03:34Speaker 7: Well, that's, I mean, that's even how it's billed if
- 1:03:36Speaker 7: you bring up the visual on it. Little Red Riding
- 1:03:39Speaker 7: Hood and other stories is what it's credited.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: So have they planned on making a series of this shit?
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: Maybe there are other stories out there, and, you know,
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: we just watched this.
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:03:47Speaker 7: We just narrowed it down and found this version, and
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: that's all we've watched. I don't know if there are
- 1:03:51Speaker 7: other versions that go along with this.
- 1:03:54Speaker 6: Let's see.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: Is there like a Cinderella where instead of midnight, she
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: has to go poop? That's why she leaves the castle.
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: She poops in a glass slipper.
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Is there like Goldilocks where one toilet's too soft and
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: one toilet's too hard?
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: This toilet seat's too hard.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I can't use this one. Or her poop is too hard.
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: Oh, I was trying to look up the director and
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: see if maybe he did other things in this series.
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: Now, right before this, he does The Frog King.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: But it's not a short.
- 1:04:30Speaker 7: And it's 94, so I'm assuming this is just a
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: pre-existing thing that he did. Afterwards, he did a short
- 1:04:39Speaker 7: called Love Death. I don't know exactly what any of
- 1:04:42Speaker 7: these are, but... Can't be as bad as this.
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, he does.
- 1:04:47Speaker 6: Again, this is listed as a dark and provocative adaptation
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: of the classic tale.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: It was dark in that you couldn't see what was
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: going on.
- 1:04:54Speaker 6: Half the time.
- 1:04:55Speaker 7: It was dark in the fact that it became potty humor. That's...
- 1:04:59Speaker 7: Dark and burn.
- 1:05:00Speaker 6: But, yeah, so I guess it either was.
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: An unfinished idea or other directors may have took it over.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: I hope that it was unfinished.
- 1:05:10Speaker 7: I hope, yeah, I really kind of hope that it
- 1:05:12Speaker 7: didn't go any further if this is what they were
- 1:05:14Speaker 7: going to do with all.
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: Of them, so.
- 1:05:16Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm just kind of discussing this one as a standalone,
- 1:05:20Speaker 7: and as a standalone epic fail, dude.
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: Seriously.
- 1:05:26Speaker 7: I have issues with David Kaplan, because not only did
- 1:05:30Speaker 7: you shoot this and decide to take it down that road,
- 1:05:33Speaker 7: but you wrote that dialogue, or that narrator-log.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Wowzers.
- 1:05:39Speaker 8: I've got nothing else to say about this.
- 1:05:40Speaker 6: I'm done with this movie. I'm kind of done with
- 1:05:43Speaker 6: it myself. I got to pee-pee.
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: I'm not going to ask you to do it here.
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: That's what bathrooms are for, damn it. Or at least
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: go outside with a string attached to you.
- 1:05:54Speaker 7: Yeah, go out with the dogs in the yard. At
- 1:05:56Speaker 7: least they have sense enough to not do it here.
- 1:05:59Speaker 6: Dumbass wolf.
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: So yeah we will wrap up this first installment of
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: our little.
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: Red series and.
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: Hopefully the second keep it straight hopefully the next entry
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: will at least be a little better a little more
- 1:06:19Speaker 5: entertaining because outside of seeing Christina Ricci in black and
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: white and her in the.
- 1:06:24Speaker 6: Little costume that's pretty much all you have to go
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: on this.
- 1:06:27Speaker 8: Black and white so it wasn't even a red costume.
- 1:06:28Speaker 6: Yeah we don't even know if it was red it
- 1:06:30Speaker 6: might have been.
- 1:06:30Speaker 7: Blue hell if we know so Yeah, I think that
- 1:06:35Speaker 7: will be it for Misty this episode, so you can
- 1:06:37Speaker 7: tell them goodbye.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: Bye.
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: I will be back with the rest of the show.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: Lady y'all.
- 1:06:44Speaker 5: Oh, what the fuck? Caca.
- 1:06:47Speaker 6: This is a bunch of caca.
- 1:06:48Speaker 11: Yo, yo, yo, check it.
- 1:06:51Speaker 19: This is a story you might remember.
- 1:06:53Speaker 14: From your childhood.
- 1:06:55Speaker 19: A little story called Little Red Riding Hood.
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: Yo, yo, yo.
- 1:07:03Speaker 19: I was walking through the woods to go to see
- 1:07:05Speaker 19: my granny. Wasn't gonna see my boyfriend or my teacher.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: Or my nanny. For my granny, I had cookies. I
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: was bringing chicken soup.
- 1:07:10Speaker 19: But when I walked through the door, I was thrown
- 1:07:12Speaker 19: for a loop.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Because my granny wasn't looking right.
- 1:07:13Speaker 19: She was looking kind of scary with her big teeth
- 1:07:15Speaker 19: and glasses.
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: She was really very hairy. But oh no, no, it was.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: The woman granny's bed.
- 1:07:19Speaker 6: I said, oh, beep.
- 1:07:20Speaker 19: And the big wolf said, hey there little girl, come
- 1:07:22Speaker 19: on closer to me. Show me some lovin' cause I'm
- 1:07:24Speaker 19: feeling kinda hungry. So he swallowed me whole to his
- 1:07:26Speaker 19: stomach I fell. It was ooey and gooey, it was
- 1:07:29Speaker 19: hot as hell. I was shocked to see Granny was
- 1:07:31Speaker 19: there too. So I said to my Granny, I'm gonna
- 1:07:33Speaker 19: see you. So I got out my lunch, I got
- 1:07:35Speaker 19: out my knife. Wasn't gonna be his mother or his
- 1:07:37Speaker 19: lover or his wife. So I stabbed him good and
- 1:07:39Speaker 19: I set us free. And there was the woodsman waiting
- 1:07:42Speaker 19: for me.
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: I killed a wolf, but you know it's a shame.
- 1:07:45Speaker 19: It was a silly woodsman that got all the fame.
- 1:07:47Speaker 19: Now he is living the life of the rich, but
- 1:07:49Speaker 19: you know I'm always going to be the little red bitch.
- 1:07:51Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:07:52Speaker 10: Peace out.

- 1:09:02Speaker 5: It killed again.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: The wolf.
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: In daytime, the werewolf returns to its human form.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: The wolf is someone in this village.
- 1:09:23Speaker 12: I'm wrong for you.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 1:09:34Speaker 11: You will be happy again.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Come away with me.
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: You better watch yourself.
- 1:09:52Speaker 11: The wolf is coming.
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: You're going to get where you deserve.
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: And now it's time for a parking lot review.
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: I love the kids going to this showing of SLC
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: Punk getting out of their parents' Beamer car. SUV.
- 1:10:09Speaker 16: Wow.
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: Really, I mean, that shouldn't surprise me. Isn't that kind
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: of how punk always was?
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: You're right.
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: That's sort of how it became.
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: Mom, I need some Doc Martens.
- 1:10:19Speaker 14: I mean, I'm, you know, like, the punkest person I know,
- 1:10:22Speaker 14: his parents are millionaires for.
- 1:10:25Speaker 11: Sure, so.
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: Yeah, fuck off.
- 1:10:27Speaker 12: I mean.
- 1:10:28Speaker 11: punk is but in his.
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: You're not really punk unless you pick up some random
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: british accent like this you know.
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: Like madonna madonna is so punk no i'm talking.
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: About the i'm talking about the you know the trash
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: british british accent not the cockney yeah the cockney.
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: Dick van dyke is totally punk That's right. Who is?
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: Oh, Mary Poppins. He was the original punk.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: Totally fucking punk. He was.
- 1:10:59Speaker 11: I think he started the movement.
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: I think so. You saw his shabby-ass clothes and his attitude.
- 1:11:04Speaker 5: I know, I know, yeah.
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: He was a chimney sweep one day and a street
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: hustler the next day and a street artist. Yeah, that's
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: what he was. That's it.
- 1:11:13Speaker 11: Totally punk.
- 1:11:14Speaker 14: I mean, I really think you're onto it. You know,
- 1:11:16Speaker 14: they try to trace it back to the exact moment.
- 1:11:20Speaker 14: The movement started in, I think you're right, it was
- 1:11:22Speaker 14: Dick Van Dyke and Mary Poppins.
- 1:11:24Speaker 5: They tried to pin it on all these bands, but really?
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: Walt Disney.
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: Walt Disney.
- 1:11:28Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: Oh, Lord.
- 1:11:33Speaker 6: Oh, Lord.
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: By the way, the mother in Mary Poppins, the women's
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: suffragist mother, is the best character in that movie. She's hilarious.
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: I didn't really get an appreciation for that movie until
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: after my kid's. Started watching it.
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: I don't know if I've watched it. I don't even
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: remember sitting down to watch all of it. I've seen
- 1:11:55Speaker 5: so many pieces of it. Again, like so many movies
- 1:11:58Speaker 5: at that point.
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: Well, it goes on forever.
- 1:11:59Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: I don't remember the entirety of it. I just remember, like,
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: the scenes that you always remember out of those things.
- 1:12:06Speaker 14: I think that's one of those movies that I absolutely
- 1:12:09Speaker 14: hated as a child.
- 1:12:10Speaker 11: I don't know why. Like, Mary Poppins.
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: I was never big on it even as a kid.
- 1:12:13Speaker 5: Charlotte's Web.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: I really.
- 1:12:14Speaker 11: I like Charlotte's Web.
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: I hate... I.
- 1:12:18Speaker 11: violently hated charlotte's web i.
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: Remember once it's because it has to do with pigs.
- 1:12:25Speaker 11: I think that i think that might be what it is.
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: But but you know the rat was awesome the.
- 1:12:29Speaker 14: Rat templeton is awesome um but uh that may have
- 1:12:35Speaker 14: even been before my my pig phobia that may have
- 1:12:38Speaker 14: been before that potbelly pig attacked me.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: But it planted the seeds of pig phobia it did
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: oh wow.
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:12:48Speaker 11: I mean, I don't know why. I just always hated it.
- 1:12:50Speaker 11: I always hated it. My aunt got me a.
- 1:12:54Speaker 14: VHS copy of it when I was younger, and I
- 1:12:57Speaker 14: was really mad at her for that for.
- 1:12:58Speaker 11: Like a week, which is a really dumb thing.
- 1:13:02Speaker 14: But then, you know, once for Easter, someone got me
- 1:13:03Speaker 14: a John Mellencamp CD, and I was also mad about
- 1:13:06Speaker 14: that for like several months.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: Why?
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: Well, if it's John Mellencamp instead of John Cougar.
- 1:13:10Speaker 11: It wasn't John Cougar Mellencamp?
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13:12Speaker 11: Anyway, I was like seven years old.
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: And you should have been loving that.
- 1:13:17Speaker 14: They're like, you know that song. It was the Dance
- 1:13:19Speaker 14: Naked album, actually.
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: Well, that was sort of a turning point.
- 1:13:23Speaker 14: Which is like, I mean, I can't explain to you
- 1:13:26Speaker 14: how extremely strange it was to get John Mellencamp's Dance
- 1:13:30Speaker 14: Naked in my Easter basket when I was a small child.
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: Hey, that's what the Easter Bunny wanted you to do,
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: and you don't argue with the Easter Bunny.
- 1:13:41Speaker 14: I mean, it would be understandable if, as a child,
- 1:13:43Speaker 14: I was a huge John Mellencamp fan.
- 1:13:45Speaker 11: You know, I wasn't.
- 1:13:47Speaker 14: You know, I like that song Jack and Diane, Don't
- 1:13:50Speaker 14: Get Me Wrong. But, you know, it's not like every
- 1:13:53Speaker 14: day I was like.
- 1:13:55Speaker 11: Oh, John Mellencamp. Mom, Mom, buy me this John Mellencamp CD.
- 1:13:59Speaker 11: It just randomly appeared in my Easter basket.
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: They're probably like, we got this John Mellencamp CD.
- 1:14:05Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: I gave this to me free at work. What do
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: I do with it? I don't know where.
- 1:14:11Speaker 11: It came from. I don't know why I received it.
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: Was it still wrapped in cellophane? It was. Okay, just checking.
- 1:14:17Speaker 11: Yeah, it was new.
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: Sounded like a re-gift to me.
- 1:14:20Speaker 11: I'm sure it was, but it was just the weirdest.
- 1:14:23Speaker 14: Of all the things my family's ever given me that
- 1:14:25Speaker 14: were inappropriate and just stupid and, like, thanks for giving
- 1:14:29Speaker 14: me this big bag full of garbage that I'm going
- 1:14:32Speaker 14: to have to, like, not throw away in front of you.
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: This and this every holiday.
- 1:14:37Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: It is.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: It is.
- 1:14:40Speaker 11: But, yeah, that's sidetracked, but anyway.
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: Sidetracked? We haven't even started the track yet. Sidetracked the sidetrack.
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: Alright, so we are back, and not only this time
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: did we go out on the town, but it's time
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: for another parking lot review. Once again, I am Brian.
- 1:14:59Speaker 14: I'm Marlena.
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: I'm Greg.
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: And, yeah, we're ready to attack this movie, I suppose.
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: This week's feature, or at least the second in the
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: Little Red series we've got going here, is Red Riding Hood.
- 1:15:15Speaker 5: The year, since we're sitting in the parking lot of
- 1:15:17Speaker 5: the theater, is 2011. They direct in Catherine Hardwick. They
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: plot according to IMDb. And once again, worded perfectly as
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: IMDb always does. Set in a medieval village that is
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: haunted by a werewolf.
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: Haunted?
- 1:15:34Speaker 11: Haunted.
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: A young girl falls for an orphan woodcutter.
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: Did they even get into that?
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: I know, I was like, did they get into his
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: parents at all? Much to her family's displeasure. So with that,
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: spoiler alert, obviously this is a brand new movie and
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: we don't want to ruin it for you.
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: Ruin it.
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: Anyway, so, yeah, we're about to get into it. Where
- 1:16:02Speaker 5: would you like to begin? Other than this is a
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: tale set in spiky town.
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 1:16:09Speaker 11: Yeah, that was strange.
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: Everything had spikes.
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: Everything is spiky at this point, so... Yeah, I don't
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: know what else to do with that.
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: I will say, I even thought to myself, I want
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: to remember to say something about the spiky trees on
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: the way to Grandma's house. You could actually see the
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: tar that the spikes were held on with, you know,
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: around the spikes. These are massive, you know... 18 inch
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: long spikes growing thorns growing yeah they're like giant thorns
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: you have you know you'll have like a an oak
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: tree next to a a beech tree and they both
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: have the same spikes growing out of them you can
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: just see this like well let's go stick these cones
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: all over with.
- 1:16:53Speaker 7: And when he was, like, chopping down trees, none of
- 1:16:55Speaker 7: those had spikes, right? Like, that whole first part of
- 1:16:58Speaker 7: them running around in the woods, it was just woods.
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: Well, they take those spikes off first. That's the trade.
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: That's stage one. I'm just not a woodcutter. I don't
- 1:17:06Speaker 5: understand the methods involved.
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: Maybe that's why they were cutting those down. They didn't
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: want none.
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: Yeah, these are defective trees. They don't grow thorns. Fuck
- 1:17:13Speaker 5: these trees.
- 1:17:14Speaker 11: These trees are broken. I mean, it would have just
- 1:17:16Speaker 11: made more sense for the.
- 1:17:18Speaker 14: spikes to not have been made to look like they
- 1:17:20Speaker 14: grew from the trees, like they were put there intentionally.
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: At first I thought that's what, because they almost didn't,
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: because they were almost badly stuck on there, as you said.
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: So I thought maybe they were actually like metal spikes
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: that they put in there to like keep out giant wolves.
- 1:17:34Speaker 5: I thought maybe they had some sort of protection value
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: to them, but no, it just grows giant spikes and
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: then you get into the village and everything is spiky
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: and it's like they were almost going for some sort
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: of look. And I don't know if it was like, again,
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: it's sad that I constantly use this as a visual reference,
- 1:17:52Speaker 5: but a Tim Burton-y look.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: Like, was it trying to be like, look at everything
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: has this crazy look to it. And I don't know.
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: It just looked like they purposefully almost forced spikes into everything.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: I think they were going, it's that we want to
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: go for a look, but we don't know what it
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: is and we don't know how to pull it off.
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: That's part of what it is, I think. I mean,
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: I think it is one of those that they want
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: to go for this. I mean, at least, you know,
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: as hacky as Tim Burton has gotten over the years,
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: he still, and a lot of this is probably because
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: now he has, like, a visual team that does all this, really.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: But I'm sure he sketches something out and gives it
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: to him and says, here, something like this. So, I mean,
- 1:18:34Speaker 5: there's still sort of a, like, flow to what he does.
- 1:18:38Speaker 5: There is sort of an organic feel to the way
- 1:18:40Speaker 5: his stuff is. It doesn't feel near as forced as
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: what this seems like it was going for. I think
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: it was also just, I guess they were trying to
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: establish this, this is a fairy tale world. Like it's
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: not regular world. Look at these giant spikes on trees.
- 1:18:57Speaker 13: Right.
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: A fairy tale world where it's snowing all the time.
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: But everyone goes around in short sleeves and their shirts open.
- 1:19:05Speaker 11: It's not that cold.
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: The fact that you said that.
- 1:19:07Speaker 11: It's not that cold.
- 1:19:08Speaker 7: I could not laugh at that the rest of the movie.
- 1:19:11Speaker 7: That was like 10 minutes in you said that. And
- 1:19:14Speaker 7: by the end, and this is no spoiler, she just
- 1:19:17Speaker 7: delivers a line like, that was the coldest winter ever.
- 1:19:20Speaker 7: And our character is standing there in a shawl with giant.
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: Half dollar size openings in this thing.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: I'm just like, oh.
- 1:19:33Speaker 7: Actually, I wanted to finish the line of, it's the
- 1:19:35Speaker 7: coldest winter ever. It's a shame I didn't have a
- 1:19:38Speaker 7: fucking coat.
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: They're climbing out the manor on the hunt for the wolf,
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: and they're climbing up on the mountain, and you've got
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: the bald guy with basically a t-shirt on, no hat,
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: no gloves, supposedly dead of winter, winds howling, but he's
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: not even showing signs of cold.
- 1:19:58Speaker 14: I think people were just a lot tougher back then.
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: I guess so. But, I mean, that was the thing.
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: They were all walking around like that.
- 1:20:05Speaker 7: And I was just like, if you live in that
- 1:20:07Speaker 7: part of the world, like, you should have in your
- 1:20:11Speaker 7: wardrobe wintry clothing. Like, nobody even had coats at all. Like,
- 1:20:16Speaker 7: most they had was, you know, they were wearing the cloaks.
- 1:20:18Speaker 7: And I'm like, yeah, those look cool and all, but
- 1:20:21Speaker 7: they still don't really keep you warm.
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: They're on your back and flowing off of you. Yeah,
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: I was like, most of their stuff. I was like,
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: this is just bad design for warmth purposes. Right.
- 1:20:31Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:20:32Speaker 14: I couldn't get over the fact that the scenery was
- 1:20:36Speaker 14: just so, I mean, I couldn't get past the fact
- 1:20:42Speaker 14: like knowing that it was fake I think that bothered
- 1:20:44Speaker 14: me right that really hindered me a little bit in
- 1:20:47Speaker 14: watching the movie or in enjoying it not that that
- 1:20:50Speaker 14: was really possible but.
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: It clearly looked like the city clearly looked like a
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: set yeah it did not look like a natural place.
- 1:20:59Speaker 14: And it's weird I mean I don't normally have that
- 1:21:01Speaker 14: problem with scenery you know because I mean I watch
- 1:21:05Speaker 14: a lot of plays and of course plays the set
- 1:21:09Speaker 14: is always terrible but it was just like Watching a
- 1:21:12Speaker 14: Leonardo DiCaprio movie where he's trying to have an accent
- 1:21:15Speaker 14: or something like that. I just didn't buy it. And
- 1:21:17Speaker 14: it made it really hard for me.
- 1:21:20Speaker 11: To get into it.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: A slam on Leonardo out of the blue.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: He's not even in this movie.
- 1:21:25Speaker 11: Right.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: What did he do today to deserve that?
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: I was trying to defend him earlier. Never mind. You
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: know what he did?
- 1:21:32Speaker 14: I went to the Redbox the other day to get
- 1:21:34Speaker 14: a movie, and he was in.
- 1:21:35Speaker 11: Like, five movies.
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: That's his job, man. See how many movies I can
- 1:21:38Speaker 5: be in this year.
- 1:21:39Speaker 11: And my friend was like, you want to get this movie?
- 1:21:41Speaker 11: I'm like, eh, Leonardo DiCaprio.
- 1:21:43Speaker 14: He's like, oh, look at, no, Leonardo DiCaprio's in this one.
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: Kick-ass. Ah, no, they inserted Leonardo DiCaprio.
- 1:21:52Speaker 11: I did watch it.
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: Dammit.
- 1:21:55Speaker 7: So, I don't know. I mean, the other visuals, like,
- 1:21:58Speaker 7: went back and forth. Like, there were times when I
- 1:22:01Speaker 7: was like, that actually looked good. You know, like some
- 1:22:04Speaker 7: of the weird dreamy shots of the countryside or whatever.
- 1:22:08Speaker 5: I don't know. There were times when I was like, okay, that,
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: that's kind of making use of this weird fictional world and,
- 1:22:15Speaker 5: and giving it this very like fairytale look to it,
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: but it actually is shot.
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: And then there are other times that I'm like, Oh
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: my God, what was that? Right. It was, it was consistent.
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: The, um, the shot at the beginning, you know, where
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: you're setting up the place, um, Uh, they show, you know,
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: buildings and town, you know, the town and all that
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: kind of stuff, which the town was never anywhere as
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: big to the scale that they showed. That's beside the point,
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: but they showed a mill, uh, and the wheel next
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: to the mill. And this wheel was, you know, one
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: of those gargantuan Ferris wheel sizes and, and it just
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: looked so out of place. The scale was off and it,
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: it really took, took me off guard. I was like, wow.
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: that looks like crap you know i'm like that's a
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: very important shot when you're showing when you're establishing where
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: you are and you're getting you know you're gonna zoom
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: in and get the the viewer the feel of where
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: you are and then all of a sudden this massive
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: almost cartoonish looking uh wheel wheel is there that you
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: know they never could build and probably was you know
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: incapable of Of handling, well, that's beside the point. I'm
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: not going to talk about that.
- 1:23:27Speaker 5: Well, I kind of think that with most of that town, really.
- 1:23:29Speaker 5: I was like, truthfully, it was all more impressive than
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: I give these people. Even though you said it looked shoddy,
- 1:23:34Speaker 5: I still think it looked more impressive. These seem like
- 1:23:36Speaker 5: the dumbest group of people I've ever seen.
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: They were dumb for townsfolk.
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: Even for... In medieval times? What did they refer to
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: it in that little synopsis there?
- 1:23:48Speaker 11: I think it was medieval times.
- 1:23:50Speaker 5: Yeah, even for those types, they were pretty dumb.
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: You know, nothing was dirty. You know, everything was clean
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: and brand new. Again, very fairytale-y, I suppose. Yeah, and,
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: you know, it wasn't a lived-in world. It was like, okay,
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: we all just bought this brand new, and now we're
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: going to start this tale. Everything looked, like I said,
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: brand new, and You know, they're dancing around in this
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: snow next to fires in town, and the snow is
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: still pristine white and thick.
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: And there's no footprints in a town center.
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: It's clearly like this fake sand type, white sand material
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: and not snow. It just didn't have an authentic... You know,
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: those people lived in mud. Everyone lived in mud. You
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: know that's the case, and if you have that much... Precipitation,
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: it's not going to be that clean. I'm sorry. And
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: I know you're going for a fairy tale theme, but
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: I've got to believe somehow it's somewhat realistic. Virginia Madsen
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: wearing more makeup than she would nowadays.
- 1:24:58Speaker 5: I know.
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: I didn't know they had eyeliner back then, but apparently
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: they did.
- 1:25:03Speaker 11: That's what I was thinking.
- 1:25:06Speaker 14: I'm like, oh, I'm pretty sure women didn't wear eyeliner.
- 1:25:08Speaker 14: That much eyeliner and mascara in medieval times.
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: If we're going to get on that one, then before
- 1:25:15Speaker 5: I even saw her, almost my very first thought as
- 1:25:18Speaker 5: the people came into frame and started talking is, what
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: year did they make her, Joe?
- 1:25:23Speaker 14: Right.
- 1:25:24Speaker 7: Because Peter, our semi-male co-lead, whatever you want to call
- 1:25:29Speaker 7: these guys, has so much fucking hair gel in, it's ridiculous.
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: Like, if he worked at the mall now, I'd still
- 1:25:36Speaker 5: be like, dude, back off.
- 1:25:38Speaker 14: He just used goat semen.
- 1:25:39Speaker 11: That's what they used.
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: That's what he was doing with that goat in that
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: one scene. I thought I just really liked him.
- 1:25:47Speaker 14: You proposed a question, and I gave you a completely
- 1:25:50Speaker 14: logical answer.
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: When they tied up the pigs and the goats, that's
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: what really was happening.
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: And that also explains where moose comes from.
- 1:26:00Speaker 7: I always kind of wondered why they called it that,
- 1:26:03Speaker 7: but wow.
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: I'm so glad I don't.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: Use that now.
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: I'm never going to be able to see a jar
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: of moose and not think of that. And that's why
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: something about Mary, why everything held.
- 1:26:19Speaker 5: Yeah, see? That stuff has a purpose.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 1:26:24Speaker 16: Oh, wow.
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:26:27Speaker 7: So, yeah, while we're on those two, I mean, Amanda
- 1:26:31Speaker 7: Seyfried's fun. You've got to like her. She's likable, if
- 1:26:34Speaker 7: nothing else. I don't know that I buy her in
- 1:26:36Speaker 7: this or most roles, really.
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:26:39Speaker 11: I loved her in Mean Girls.
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, she's fun in Mean Girls, and she's,
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: you know, she was actually really good on Veronica. On
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: Veronica Mars, she's... Barely on it. But she also plays
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: somebody that I never expected from her. Like, she's so, like,
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: ditzy and nice and everything else, and, like, Veronica Mars,
- 1:26:54Speaker 5: she's kind of a bitch, like, almost all the time,
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: and I'm totally, like, buying into it. Like, she plays
- 1:27:00Speaker 5: something that I never saw coming from her. So, once again,
- 1:27:03Speaker 5: I kind of think... She's got a little more range
- 1:27:05Speaker 5: than they ever give her credit in these stupid romance comedy,
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: you know, any of those stupid things that they keep
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: jamming her into. I think she's got more potential than that.
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: She doesn't make use of a lot of it in
- 1:27:17Speaker 5: this movie.
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: They didn't offer her any room for range in this movie.
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: That was not her fault or anyone else's. Well, maybe
- 1:27:26Speaker 4: Virginia Madsen. She couldn't act her way out of a
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: paper bag in this film.
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: But again, all of these people we were mentioning are
- 1:27:35Speaker 5: just head and shoulders better than either of the two
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: male leads. Both of her suitors, if you'd like to
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: call them that, just... dumb as a post.
- 1:27:47Speaker 7: Seriously, I can't look at either of them without just
- 1:27:50Speaker 7: hearing duh.
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: I mean, really.
- 1:27:55Speaker 5: I just cannot. I couldn't even look at them after
- 1:27:59Speaker 5: a while. Especially Peter. Peter just reeked of UPN.
- 1:28:05Speaker 7: He had bad UPN 9 o'clock TV show written.
- 1:28:10Speaker 5: All over him.
- 1:28:11Speaker 11: Were you on One Tree Hill?
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:28:13Speaker 5: The later years when it really started to suck.
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:28:17Speaker 5: Either way. Yeah, he just, or maybe he's the lead
- 1:28:20Speaker 5: in Vampire Diary. I don't know. I'm like, he seems
- 1:28:22Speaker 5: like he could be in any one of these shows.
- 1:28:25Speaker 5: Those guys wear a lot of hair gel, too.
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: But, you know, speaking of vampires, they definitely show that
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: at least the actors in Twilight can act somewhat.
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: I guess.
- 1:28:39Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: Better than yeah at some point i was like yeah
- 1:28:43Speaker 5: even the even the guys in twilight are better than these.
- 1:28:45Speaker 18: Two yeah i could really watch twilight after that i
- 1:28:48Speaker 18: know and well and you definitely can tell that someone
- 1:28:52Speaker 18: was sitting around a boardroom and said okay We've got
- 1:28:55Speaker 18: to have something like Twilight.
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: What are we going to do?
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: Well, I mean, the first time I saw the trailer,
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: I believe my comment was, man, they're really twilighting this
- 1:29:04Speaker 5: bitch up. And the thing is, I was just playing
- 1:29:08Speaker 5: on the fact that I thought they were sort of
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: ripping it off and trying to tap into that market.
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: It wasn't until today. It was this morning that I
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: found out that Hardwick directed this. She's the director of Twilight.
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, I was like, I did not know that.
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: I'd just been making that because it looks like they're
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: ripping it off. I didn't know they went so far
- 1:29:27Speaker 5: as to get the same director.
- 1:29:29Speaker 14: And I mean, like, I thought, I've only seen the
- 1:29:31Speaker 14: first Twilight movie, and I thought it was awful and
- 1:29:33Speaker 14: plotless and just terrible.
- 1:29:35Speaker 11: But, um.
- 1:29:37Speaker 14: God damn, she did a much better job with Twilight
- 1:29:39Speaker 14: than she did with this.
- 1:29:40Speaker 5: Piece of shit. Now, here's the thing I will say
- 1:29:43Speaker 5: between the two, and I know that's the thing. The
- 1:29:46Speaker 5: people behind this movie are just, from what little I've
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: seen today, are already just bitching because nobody will address
- 1:29:53Speaker 5: it as anything, but let's compare it to Twilight. Well,
- 1:29:56Speaker 5: you know, I mean, it's pretty obvious that's what you're doing,
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: and you brought in the same director, so what do
- 1:30:00Speaker 5: you expect? It's your own fault. But between the.
- 1:30:03Speaker 7: Two, watching these, I at least can say, like, Amanda
- 1:30:07Speaker 7: Seyfried at least has some character to her. She is
- 1:30:11Speaker 7: almost like a real person, and she's sort of her
- 1:30:14Speaker 7: own woman, if you want to call her that. Whereas
- 1:30:16Speaker 7: our female lead in Twilight, at least the one that
- 1:30:20Speaker 7: I've seen, she's the most devoid of personality, and she
- 1:30:24Speaker 7: doesn't really do anything on her own, it seems. She
- 1:30:27Speaker 7: just sort of is led through the plot, where at
- 1:30:29Speaker 7: least there's times in this where she's like, No, fuck it,
- 1:30:32Speaker 7: here's what I'm going to do, you know? So, I mean,
- 1:30:34Speaker 7: at least I feel like this has a little more
- 1:30:35Speaker 7: of a useful female role model, if you want to
- 1:30:39Speaker 7: call it that. Not much of one, but certainly better
- 1:30:42Speaker 7: than Twilight.
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: Is the father from Twilight the same father from this movie?
- 1:30:48Speaker 5: I don't think so, is it?
- 1:30:50Speaker 13: I don't know.
- 1:30:50Speaker 11: What is that guy from?
- 1:30:52Speaker 4: They sure do look an awful lot alike.
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, I know the
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: dad's name. Let's see. Billy Burke is the dad.
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I just kind of got that feel all of
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: a sudden.
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I blocked out most of what I
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: remember of Twilight. No, he is. Is it?
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:31:14Speaker 5: That's just weird.
- 1:31:16Speaker 4: Why would you do that?
- 1:31:19Speaker 7: Again, and how can they be complaining that people won't
- 1:31:21Speaker 7: give this a fair break?
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: There's two male love interest, the same dad, the same look,
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: the same director. Yeah, talk about a formula. And even
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: the music had that....
- 1:31:36Speaker 5: I was going to bring that up, what your thoughts
- 1:31:40Speaker 5: were on the music, because it is a very... Modern
- 1:31:43Speaker 5: soundtrack jammed in the middle of this medieval tale.
- 1:31:47Speaker 4: Like Knight's Tale?
- 1:31:48Speaker 5: Kind of, but at least Knight's Tale did it almost tongue-in-cheek.
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: We will rock you at a joust.
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: I didn't mind. Well, with the exception of the one
- 1:31:57Speaker 5: or two shots of them singing along to We Will
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: Rock You, that was ridiculous, and they should have edited
- 1:32:02Speaker 5: that out.
- 1:32:03Speaker 7: But with the exception of that, the rest of it
- 1:32:05Speaker 7: was all very background, and it could have just been
- 1:32:08Speaker 7: placed in, and everything about A Knight's Tale was sort of,
- 1:32:11Speaker 7: you know, tongue in cheek. Anyway, it was kind of
- 1:32:13Speaker 7: winking at the camera going, you know.
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: We realize this isn't really the medieval times, you know,
- 1:32:18Speaker 5: we're just playing with this whole thing where here it's
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: like they were playing it straight, but then they like
- 1:32:23Speaker 5: very heavy handedly, like layered this like, look how modern
- 1:32:28Speaker 5: this music is, kids.
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: You can dance around to this. It's got a good
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: beat and you can dance to it. All the teenagers
- 1:32:35Speaker 5: love this stuff. I don't know. It was just like
- 1:32:37Speaker 5: they were trying so hard to be like, look, we're cool.
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: We're still cool. I know this is medieval times, but look,
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: we're cool. We're playing music.
- 1:32:44Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: I don't know. It just seemed very forced.
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: Yeah, the dancing, the choreography during that, you know, the
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: festival or whatever they were.
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: Having it went back and forth like they started out
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: kind of grinding on each other oh yeah I'm like
- 1:32:58Speaker 5: okay now you're just doing random like you know hip
- 1:33:01Speaker 5: hop dancing right and then they opted off to do
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: weird like voguing that was I guess tied to some
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: sort of medieval dance sort.
- 1:33:10Speaker 4: Of that whatever maybe square.
- 1:33:13Speaker 7: Dance yeah whatever they used to do I mean but
- 1:33:16Speaker 7: it went back and forth again like they do they
- 1:33:18Speaker 7: couldn't really make up their mind what the hell was
- 1:33:20Speaker 7: going on in this movie.
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: No No, but they sure had spikes and snow that
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: didn't melt.
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: And, okay, here's another question.
- 1:33:28Speaker 7: At what point did the tale of the three little
- 1:33:30Speaker 7: pigs happen?
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: Because they're referencing it.
- 1:33:35Speaker 7: Like, they're delivering specific lines from the story.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:33:39Speaker 11: Oh, yeah.
- 1:33:40Speaker 5: The three little pigs. What'd they say?
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: They're acting out the three little pigs during the festival.
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: Yeah, in play form, basically. I'm just like... I didn't
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: even notice that. At first, you know, I thought if
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: you just worked in the visual, I'd be like, okay,
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: that's clever. That's the joke. Again, a wink to the
- 1:33:54Speaker 5: audience there going, ha ha, look, big bad wolf. See this?
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: Look what we're doing.
- 1:33:57Speaker 7: But when he starts screaming out, all huff and puff
- 1:34:00Speaker 7: and blow your.
- 1:34:01Speaker 5: I was just like... I think.
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: He even says, little pig, let me in.
- 1:34:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm just like, it's not subtle anymore. Thanks for
- 1:34:08Speaker 5: assuming that every kid watching this is dumb, and you
- 1:34:11Speaker 5: just had to hit them over the head with it.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: The thing is, is they really are marketing this towards
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: the teenagers.
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: Towards dumb teenagers?
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: You know, there's some of those you're going to have
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: to bash it over their head to get any kind
- 1:34:21Speaker 4: of symbolism.
- 1:34:22Speaker 7: But I'm pretty sure those stories probably came about a
- 1:34:25Speaker 7: little later than this.
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: I could be wrong. You know what? I don't know.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: Um....
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: There's a lot of stuff that was out of time
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: that they were referencing technologies.
- 1:34:37Speaker 14: Yeah, those iPods that.
- 1:34:39Speaker 11: They all had.
- 1:34:40Speaker 5: No, no. According to Apple, they've been there since the
- 1:34:43Speaker 5: dawn of time. Right. On the eighth day, they created Apple.
- 1:34:50Speaker 4: I loved how the blacksmith was making that fine jewelry.
- 1:34:55Speaker 4: He wasn't just pounding metal to use for axes or,
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: you know... Whatever, but he was making fine jewelry.
- 1:35:03Speaker 11: Here's what I don't understand.
- 1:35:05Speaker 14: So Peter is a lumberjack, and Henry is like a blacksmith.
- 1:35:12Speaker 11: What's the difference in pay?
- 1:35:14Speaker 14: Like, they're acting like Henry's like this loaded dude. I mean, like,
- 1:35:18Speaker 14: he's a blacksmith. I mean, how much more can a
- 1:35:20Speaker 14: blacksmith make than a lumberjack?
- 1:35:22Speaker 5: That was the thing. Like, at the beginning, I was like,
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: all right. He's a woodchopper. He's not making anything. I
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: can see her mom wanting her to get out of
- 1:35:29Speaker 5: that and get off. And they bring that guy in
- 1:35:31Speaker 5: and I'm like, okay, he's like, you know, from a
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: rich family. He really is like, maybe he's royalty or something.
- 1:35:36Speaker 4: A merchant or something.
- 1:35:37Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: And, you know, then all of a sudden he's hammering
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: on Shin. I was just like, really?
- 1:35:42Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:35:43Speaker 5: It's like, okay, you.
- 1:35:44Speaker 7: Probably should have given him a little more high class
- 1:35:47Speaker 7: job than that.
- 1:35:48Speaker 18: I agree.
- 1:35:48Speaker 4: Job yeah a sweating nasty yeah yeah.
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: Just sitting next to a fire for 12 hours a day.
- 1:35:55Speaker 4: A man and also both of both of these kids
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: a wood chopper and a blacksmith by trade are gonna
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: be massive strong men not scrawny you being pretty boys
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: motherfuckers i i have no well yeah.
- 1:36:13Speaker 5: All right, we've done a lot of talking smack. I
- 1:36:16Speaker 5: will say, if I'm going to like anything in this, hey,
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: I like the wolf. There's a surprise.
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:36:22Speaker 11: I didn't like the wolf at all. I thought it
- 1:36:23Speaker 11: looked terrible.
- 1:36:24Speaker 5: Well, I mean, it's bad CGI.
- 1:36:26Speaker 12: Right.
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: But, I mean, the scene where he attacks in the
- 1:36:29Speaker 5: village square, whatever the hell that is, during the little
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: festival there is kind of cool.
- 1:36:34Speaker 7: Maybe it's just because I didn't like any of those people,
- 1:36:36Speaker 7: so I was glad when he was tearing the hell
- 1:36:38Speaker 7: out of them.
- 1:36:40Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: I kind of like the idea of them bringing him
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: in and having it not just be... I don't know.
- 1:36:46Speaker 5: The fact that he was just a badass and, like,
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: they couldn't do anything to him for a good majority
- 1:36:50Speaker 5: of the movie. Right. And then they sort of enter
- 1:36:54Speaker 5: into the weird, I guess, again, more fairytale-like, the fact
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: that she can talk to him.
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:36:59Speaker 5: Now, I decided it's because she has ESPN.
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: ESPN? Okay.
- 1:37:04Speaker 11: I have ESPN.
- 1:37:07Speaker 5: She can also tell the weather. But, I don't know,
- 1:37:10Speaker 5: what to.
- 1:37:11Speaker 11: I thought that.
- 1:37:12Speaker 14: When he was, like, unlacing her corset, and I was like, oh.
- 1:37:15Speaker 11: Oh, is it going to tell the weather?
- 1:37:16Speaker 5: It's going to rain now. There goes the snow.
- 1:37:23Speaker 11: Forecast, snow.
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: Tomorrow, snow. Somebody must be feeling Amanda up again. So.
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:37:33Speaker 5: I don't know, what was your take on the wolf?
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: You were not a fan then at all?
- 1:37:37Speaker 14: I thought it looked ridiculous, and I was kind of like...
- 1:37:40Speaker 14: I mean, I guess by the end it made a
- 1:37:42Speaker 14: little bit more sense, but when he started talking, I'm
- 1:37:44Speaker 14: just like, oh, God, it just got worse.
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: I thought that was at least interesting. Again, they could
- 1:37:50Speaker 5: have done it.
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:37:52Speaker 5: I'm not really sure what they could have done with
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: that middle part of the story that would have made
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: it work. The end I'll get back around to, but... They.
- 1:38:00Speaker 4: Needed a reason for her to be... Red Riding Hood.
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: It wasn't, you know, there wasn't anything that she was different.
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: There wasn't any, it did move it along. It did,
- 1:38:10Speaker 4: you know, the whole play of, you know, yes, she
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: could be a witch kind of thing. That, that, that's realistic.
- 1:38:17Speaker 4: I mean, realistic for what would have, probably the most
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: realistic thing from it is if somebody did something weird,
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: she instantly was a witch.
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: So.
- 1:38:27Speaker 7: And they do bring in what, I mean, I guess
- 1:38:29Speaker 7: in a lot, of, a lot of movies in general,
- 1:38:31Speaker 7: I was thinking as this went on, but especially in,
- 1:38:34Speaker 7: in these type of movies that the, I mean, the
- 1:38:37Speaker 7: most evil character you can have isn't even like the
- 1:38:40Speaker 7: beast of It's the religious, all-powerful leader.
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: And that's what usually comes into play in these kind
- 1:38:46Speaker 5: of movies. There's always a cardinal or a bishop or
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: just a priest that comes in and is just drunk
- 1:38:53Speaker 5: with power and does whatever the fuck he wants.
- 1:38:55Speaker 11: Here's my problem with that. I'm just like, that's not
- 1:38:57Speaker 11: his town. Like, make him get the fuck out.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: That's like.
- 1:39:00Speaker 14: calling an exterminator. And then the exterminator's just like, oh,
- 1:39:05Speaker 14: you know what? I can't get rid of this problem,
- 1:39:06Speaker 14: but I'm just going to trash your house and fuck.
- 1:39:08Speaker 11: Your wife and slap your kids. And you're just going
- 1:39:11Speaker 11: to be okay with it.
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: They roll up pointing crossbows at you.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: We're welcoming you to town. And we're pointing crossbows at you.
- 1:39:19Speaker 5: And that guy seemed like he was on coke. Like
- 1:39:22Speaker 5: he was just snapping back and forth.
- 1:39:23Speaker 4: Like, don't you fucking move.
- 1:39:24Speaker 5: What are you looking at?
- 1:39:25Speaker 4: He seemed like he was in like some kind of,
- 1:39:27Speaker 4: you know, Mexican.
- 1:39:28Speaker 5: Yeah. And I was like, it's a bunch of boring
- 1:39:31Speaker 5: townspeople who don't even have coats. Calm down.
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: They don't even have a pitchfork.
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: I mean, even their knives look like they made it
- 1:39:38Speaker 5: out of a rock. They sharpened a fucking rock.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: And they ride up in a big elephant.
- 1:39:45Speaker 14: Right.
- 1:39:46Speaker 15: What the hell was that?
- 1:39:47Speaker 11: I was like, what? That's stupid.
- 1:39:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: Somebody had that elephant sitting around going, man, I got
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: to get this in a movie somehow.
- 1:39:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I think you're right.
- 1:39:56Speaker 4: That thing.
- 1:39:57Speaker 14: And everything in this movie was on fire. There were
- 1:40:00Speaker 14: just random fires everywhere.
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: In buildings. In a town made of wood.
- 1:40:05Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:40:06Speaker 5: Pointy wood.
- 1:40:07Speaker 20: Right.
- 1:40:07Speaker 7: Let's set fires as often as possible and then leave
- 1:40:11Speaker 7: them unchecked.
- 1:40:11Speaker 11: There's just fires in the middle of the floor, inside buildings,
- 1:40:15Speaker 11: like everywhere.
- 1:40:15Speaker 7: That's so you can see when you're making out with
- 1:40:17Speaker 7: your hot woodsman friends.
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: Well, that's the thing. They go off to go fool
- 1:40:21Speaker 4: around in the hay and five feet from them is
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: a fire on the ground. No one's attending to it,
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: you know, in a town made of wood next to
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: hay that can burn. And they don't think a second
- 1:40:35Speaker 4: thought about it.
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: It was, yeah.
- 1:40:36Speaker 5: Why would you?
- 1:40:37Speaker 11: It's a fairy tale.
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a fairy tale where fire only burns in
- 1:40:41Speaker 5: that one little spot or in torches. And it only
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: does what you want it to do.
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: Well, it might be that magic snow that probably keeps
- 1:40:46Speaker 4: it from spreading.
- 1:40:47Speaker 5: Magic fire, magic snow. This is, yeah, they have their
- 1:40:50Speaker 5: own set of rules here.
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: I have a major bone to pick before we go
- 1:40:55Speaker 4: too far into this with this movie. First of all,
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: it definitely felt a whole hell of a lot like
- 1:41:02Speaker 4: The Village.
- 1:41:03Speaker 11: I thought that too.
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: You can't get around that. There's the fairy tale. There's
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: the we've got a pact with it. It's not going
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: to come get us. It can't cross into this lines.
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: You know, we've been doing it for years. But then
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: you throw in the Adrian Brody retard.
- 1:41:18Speaker 11: Yes, yes, I thought that too.
- 1:41:21Speaker 4: And it could be him. He's going to have to die.
- 1:41:24Speaker 4: We're going to play. What the fuck? You did not
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: need that in this film. It's like, well, this worked
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: in the village, so we're just going to rip it
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: right out of this. And why did they get that
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: Ron Weasley looking kid?
- 1:41:37Speaker 5: Well, and then his sister with the red hair kind
- 1:41:41Speaker 5: of had the, it's like she was trying to steal from.
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: The Howard, what's her name? Bryce Dallas Howard.
- 1:41:46Speaker 5: She kind of looked like Bryce, yeah.
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 1:41:47Speaker 7: She looked like a not as cute version of Bryce.
- 1:41:49Speaker 11: I was going to say, no way Bryce Dallas Howard
- 1:41:51Speaker 11: is that big.
- 1:41:51Speaker 5: She's not near as cute, but she was, I mean,
- 1:41:53Speaker 5: it was kind of playing on the same look for
- 1:41:55Speaker 5: all of these people.
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: Right. So either it was, I mean, you can say
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: it was an homage, but good God.
- 1:42:00Speaker 14: No, I thought that too.
- 1:42:02Speaker 11: I'm just like, oh, look, it's Adrian Brody, but it's.
- 1:42:05Speaker 11: Ron Weasley.
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: It's Ron Weasley.
- 1:42:06Speaker 7: And why would you do an homage to a movie
- 1:42:08Speaker 7: everyone hated except the.
- 1:42:10Speaker 5: People in this car right now? We just a week
- 1:42:14Speaker 5: ago decided we all liked it. But other than that,
- 1:42:16Speaker 5: it was like everyone I know hates that movie. So
- 1:42:19Speaker 5: I don't know that anybody with a brain would do
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: an homage to.
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: It.
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:42:25Speaker 11: Right.
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: But it definitely was straight out of the village.
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: Next I'm going to do an homage to The Happening.
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:42:31Speaker 14: Didn't he do card tricks or something or magic tricks
- 1:42:34Speaker 14: or something like that?
- 1:42:35Speaker 4: I think you're right.
- 1:42:36Speaker 5: He does do it. Look, I pulled a card out
- 1:42:38Speaker 5: of your hair. I don't know.
- 1:42:40Speaker 11: A coin. I think it was a coin. He pulled
- 1:42:43Speaker 11: a coin.
- 1:42:43Speaker 7: And then he found the card when he got there
- 1:42:44Speaker 7: because that's how he knew he was up to the
- 1:42:46Speaker 7: devil's business.
- 1:42:47Speaker 5: He had a magical card.
- 1:42:49Speaker 11: I mean, in the village, Adrian Brody had a card.
- 1:42:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I was talking about this one. He's got cards. Well,
- 1:42:54Speaker 4: both of them are playing tricks. Well, that's because magic
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: is retarded.
- 1:42:58Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:43:00Speaker 5: As we previously stated. Touche. Touche. Issues with magic.
- 1:43:09Speaker 14: That's the most beautiful and highest truth I've ever come
- 1:43:14Speaker 14: to know.
- 1:43:15Speaker 4: We've got two movies that prove it. Magic is retarded
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: and should be killed.
- 1:43:28Speaker 11: Oh, God. Composure.
- 1:43:33Speaker 5: Okay, so my question is... Who did Gary Oldman lose
- 1:43:39Speaker 5: a bet to that he had to be in this movie?
- 1:43:42Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: Because I'm like, Gary Oldman is a phenomenal actor.
- 1:43:47Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:43:48Speaker 5: How the hell did he end up in this?
- 1:43:50Speaker 4: And what kind of... dialect was he supposed to have
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: in this i mean uh gary oldman ish right it
- 1:43:58Speaker 4: was like it was probably the worst gary oldman he's
- 1:44:01Speaker 4: ever done he could have just i don't know what
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: he was doing i don't know what he was thinking
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: maybe he thought i'm gonna give them the worst thing
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: i've got because i don't you know i know.
- 1:44:10Speaker 5: This is this is gonna suck right so am i
- 1:44:14Speaker 5: I mean, they actually pulled it. Yeah, it's Julie Christie
- 1:44:17Speaker 5: is the grandmother and Virginia Madsen. I mean, they're bringing it.
- 1:44:20Speaker 5: Even Lucas Haas is a real actor.
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:44:23Speaker 7: Not in this movie. But I'm just like, they bring
- 1:44:25Speaker 7: in some pretty big names. I'm like, is it just
- 1:44:28Speaker 7: the Hardwick?
- 1:44:29Speaker 5: I mean, was it just because she opened with a
- 1:44:31Speaker 5: huge movie and now she has a little bit of power?
- 1:44:34Speaker 5: But still, I'm just like. This movie is pretty low budget.
- 1:44:38Speaker 5: I'm like, did they spend it all on just those
- 1:44:41Speaker 5: names and that was it?
- 1:44:42Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:44:43Speaker 5: I guess.
- 1:44:43Speaker 4: They didn't spend it on the set.
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: Yeah, it doesn't look like the set and the bad
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: CGI wolf.
- 1:44:47Speaker 14: And I mean, their craft food person was also their
- 1:44:50Speaker 14: first agent.
- 1:44:51Speaker 5: That's true, actually. That was the funniest thing that we
- 1:44:54Speaker 5: decided on the credits was the... The craft service person
- 1:44:58Speaker 5: was also in charge of first aid.
- 1:44:59Speaker 7: I was like, that's a bad sign for one or
- 1:45:03Speaker 7: the other of those. I don't know which, but it
- 1:45:07Speaker 7: can't be good.
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: Either you know the food's bad or you're going to die.
- 1:45:14Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 1:45:16Speaker 14: You know, I kept thinking that the grandma looked like
- 1:45:21Speaker 14: Amy Sedaris a lot.
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: Playing an old person, yeah.
- 1:45:26Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:45:27Speaker 11: And I just kept, like, expecting her to do something wacky.
- 1:45:29Speaker 11: I mean, like.
- 1:45:32Speaker 4: I loved the obvious. They were obviously trying to make
- 1:45:36Speaker 4: you think it was for the grandma from earlier.
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: And it was like, well, I know it's not her.
- 1:45:40Speaker 5: Well, and then they worked in the... Once she sat
- 1:45:43Speaker 5: there and talked to the wolf... Then they worked in
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: the whole brown eyes thing and like, okay, well, here's
- 1:45:48Speaker 5: how we keep people guessing. Cast nothing but people with
- 1:45:52Speaker 5: brown eyes. The entire rest of the cast has brown eyes.
- 1:45:56Speaker 5: It's like, so yeah, that kind of screwed over anybody else.
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: And the dad's eyes weren't that color.
- 1:46:02Speaker 5: Yeah, well, they changed as he did, I suppose.
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:46:08Speaker 4: Well, and I know the woodcutter was too stupid to
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: be there.
- 1:46:11Speaker 5: Yeah, really?
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: That was the other thing.
- 1:46:12Speaker 5: It's like he would not have covered his tracks very
- 1:46:14Speaker 5: well because he's an idiot. As is the blacksmith. They're
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: both dumb.
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:46:20Speaker 5: Oh, God.
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:46:23Speaker 14: And the guy that plays the dad, what did we
- 1:46:27Speaker 14: decide his name is?
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: Burke. Billy Burke.
- 1:46:29Speaker 11: Billy Burke.
- 1:46:31Speaker 5: Yeah, Billy Burke.
- 1:46:32Speaker 14: He was drunk through most of the movie. And he
- 1:46:35Speaker 14: just looks like someone who's... He just looks drunk. Like,
- 1:46:38Speaker 14: he just looks like he'd be drunk all the time.
- 1:46:40Speaker 14: I don't... Just something about his face. It's like fetal
- 1:46:43Speaker 14: alcohol syndrome or something.
- 1:46:44Speaker 5: He kind of looked like a pedophile to me, too.
- 1:46:46Speaker 4: He looked a little bit like a pedophile.
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: Nice.
- 1:46:49Speaker 5: So... I mean.
- 1:46:51Speaker 11: Well.
- 1:46:52Speaker 5: All right. Keep your kids away. From the big bad wolf.
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: Maybe that was acting. Maybe he did a fantastic job.
- 1:47:00Speaker 11: At looking like an alcoholic.
- 1:47:01Speaker 14: He's such a great actor. He made himself be born
- 1:47:05Speaker 14: to look like an alcoholic pedophile.
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: How did Virginia Madsen's face heal? She had deep gashes
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: in her face. And then the next day it seemed like,
- 1:47:17Speaker 4: I know it was supposed to be maybe that winter.
- 1:47:20Speaker 4: But those were deep scars.
- 1:47:22Speaker 5: I don't think it's... I mean, to me, none of
- 1:47:24Speaker 5: it felt like time moved very far. It all seemed
- 1:47:26Speaker 5: like it happened in about a week, really.
- 1:47:29Speaker 4: And Red Riding Hood miraculously went from about ankle length
- 1:47:35Speaker 4: to about... the longest train you've ever seen when they're
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: up on the mountain.
- 1:47:40Speaker 5: I don't know what happened there. It's like Spawn's cape
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: is what it is.
- 1:47:45Speaker 11: Well, you start with knitting needles.
- 1:47:46Speaker 14: She wasn't actually knitting, but she was holding them, so
- 1:47:48Speaker 14: maybe she just threw out the wintertime.
- 1:47:50Speaker 5: Those were kind of dream sequence-y. I assumed those were
- 1:47:56Speaker 5: not in reality. Not that anything is based in reality
- 1:47:59Speaker 5: in this movie.
- 1:47:59Speaker 4: It looked like a Depeche Mode video.
- 1:48:02Speaker 5: I'm telling you, she was Spawn for a second. Well, yeah. So, yeah,
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: that's a whole other issue. But, again, I was giving,
- 1:48:09Speaker 5: you know, again, they were going for a very dreamy,
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: gothy romance thing, so most of those were those cutaways
- 1:48:16Speaker 5: into her dreaminess.
- 1:48:17Speaker 16: I guess.
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: I suppose.
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: Um.
- 1:48:20Speaker 4: Were they seriously setting that up for a sequel?
- 1:48:25Speaker 5: Oh, I'm sure.
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: I mean, you know, it definitely... He's going to go
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: off until he figures out how to... Sorry, I'm spoiling this.
- 1:48:34Speaker 5: Well, we're going to get to the rest of the
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: end here in a minute. But, I mean, well, I mean,
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: look at the last time out. I mean, the last
- 1:48:40Speaker 5: time she directed the first in a series, it's now
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: gone on to make billions of dollars. And they're doing
- 1:48:47Speaker 5: five movies in the series. Five? Yeah. There's four books,
- 1:48:51Speaker 5: and they're breaking the last book up into two movies.
- 1:48:53Speaker 20: Why?
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: Thank you. Yeah, so.
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: Blaming it on Harry Potter.
- 1:48:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm blaming it on Harry Potter, too. And I'm
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: blaming it on the fact that they realized they ran
- 1:49:02Speaker 5: out of books. Like, shit, we can't make another movie. Oh,
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: what if we just drag this one out for two movies?
- 1:49:07Speaker 11: I'm just glad they didn't do that.
- 1:49:08Speaker 14: They didn't decide that when Lord of the Rings was
- 1:49:11Speaker 14: being made.
- 1:49:11Speaker 16: Oh, wow.
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: That would have gone on forever.
- 1:49:12Speaker 4: They made eight movies for that.
- 1:49:14Speaker 5: Yeah, they kind of did if you buy the box set.
- 1:49:17Speaker 5: He had sense enough to cut it down a little bit.
- 1:49:19Speaker 5: Not that much. Could have cut out the second movie.
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: But those were good books. Yeah, and those were good movies.
- 1:49:26Speaker 5: That's an entirely different thing than what we saw today.
- 1:49:30Speaker 4: Yeah, why did we say this?
- 1:49:32Speaker 5: Well, then we'll go to that. Okay, what is your
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: thoughts on the little red angle?
- 1:49:37Speaker 7: Because, I mean, they definitely work all that in, but
- 1:49:40Speaker 7: for the most part, it mostly just feels like a
- 1:49:43Speaker 7: werewolf movie.
- 1:49:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:49:44Speaker 7: I mean, by the end, and I guess we can
- 1:49:47Speaker 7: get into that final wrap-up, but I mean... It definitely,
- 1:49:50Speaker 7: it's not just like in the beginning, I thought they
- 1:49:52Speaker 7: were just sort of like once they give her the
- 1:49:54Speaker 7: cloak and it's like, okay, they're using the visuals. They've
- 1:49:57Speaker 7: got her as the little red, you know, they've got
- 1:49:59Speaker 7: a grandmother, they've got the wolf image.
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: They give you a recognizable name to get you in
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: the theater.
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: So, I mean, well, I mean, there's plenty of other
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: movies that, you know, somewhere down the line we may
- 1:50:08Speaker 5: address that just kind of play with the basic setup
- 1:50:12Speaker 5: of that. And they use the visuals, but they don't
- 1:50:14Speaker 5: ever get like super, you know, specific about it.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: But when she has the, once again, dream sequence where
- 1:50:21Speaker 5: she delivers the lines, the big eyes you have, I mean,
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: they actually, like, specifically give you the lines.
- 1:50:29Speaker 4: That was well done because it's cheesy if it really
- 1:50:33Speaker 4: happens in the movie.
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:50:35Speaker 4: But since it's a dream sequence, she, you know, it
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: pulls it off. that you can really get that in
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: the tail without actually getting it.
- 1:50:42Speaker 5: See, I thought it was a cop-out. I kind of
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: went the other way. I was like, you know, if
- 1:50:45Speaker 5: you're not going to work it in for real, just
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: don't bother putting it in. That was my take. It
- 1:50:51Speaker 5: just felt like, okay, how can we cram this in there,
- 1:50:54Speaker 5: even though it's going to be stupid if we do
- 1:50:55Speaker 5: it in the real world. Oh, dream sequence. It just
- 1:50:57Speaker 5: felt like an easy way to hammer in what we
- 1:51:01Speaker 5: have to do for this to be a, Little red story,
- 1:51:04Speaker 5: but at the same time, it really would be awkward
- 1:51:07Speaker 5: if it really happened like that, and it would screw
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: up the way the end of the movie is, so... Oh, yeah. Hmm,
- 1:51:12Speaker 5: what is... I don't know, I just.
- 1:51:14Speaker 20: It just seemed like a cheap way to go about it, but...
- 1:51:16Speaker 20: I did like the scene where they were using the
- 1:51:21Speaker 20: stones and sewing... You know, that's straight out of the book.
- 1:51:25Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: That's what I was going to give them credit. Even
- 1:51:28Speaker 5: in the story. I'm not sure what the hell was
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: the reason. Like in the original, in this movie, I
- 1:51:32Speaker 5: understand why they do it. And the original story, why
- 1:51:35Speaker 5: the hell did they do that? I don't know. It
- 1:51:37Speaker 5: makes no sense. It's just creepy.
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:51:40Speaker 4: That's exactly what they do in the story.
- 1:51:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll give them that. By the time it got
- 1:51:45Speaker 5: to the end wrap up and she's like, okay, I'm
- 1:51:47Speaker 5: going to grandmother's house.
- 1:51:48Speaker 7: I'm like, all right, here's the cheesy finale. So she
- 1:51:51Speaker 7: goes to grandmother's house and they work in all of it.
- 1:51:53Speaker 7: It's like the wolf is there and it just killed grandmother.
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:51:57Speaker 5: Then you've got the woodsman shows up to save her.
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: They did at least semi-modernize it and made her kind
- 1:52:04Speaker 5: of save herself and finish the job.
- 1:52:07Speaker 4: Her, the feminist.
- 1:52:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:52:08Speaker 7: So, I mean, it gives a little modernization to it,
- 1:52:11Speaker 7: I guess. But, I mean, for the most part, the
- 1:52:13Speaker 7: woodsman comes up to save her.
- 1:52:14Speaker 5: You know, I mean, it still follows very much the
- 1:52:18Speaker 5: basic story of Little Red.
- 1:52:19Speaker 11: But only at the end.
- 1:52:23Speaker 4: It did work in the necessity to sink the body
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: and fill it with stones and sink the body. That was,
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: oh yeah, she does have to get rid of him
- 1:52:34Speaker 4: or else they will kill her. So that's actually pretty good. Again,
- 1:52:39Speaker 4: within this movie, that part actually makes sense.
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:52:42Speaker 5: I remember hearing that in the fairy tale and going, God,
- 1:52:45Speaker 5: that's creepy.
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:52:46Speaker 5: And what's the point of that?
- 1:52:47Speaker 4: But now they took something that was awkward and made
- 1:52:49Speaker 4: it a plot point.
- 1:52:50Speaker 5: Yeah. So if there's a plus here and there in
- 1:52:53Speaker 5: this movie, that's one. They actually did take something legitimately
- 1:52:57Speaker 5: in the story and find an interesting and good way
- 1:53:00Speaker 5: to work it into this movie.
- 1:53:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:53:02Speaker 5: If only there was more of that.
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:53:04Speaker 11: I like that.
- 1:53:06Speaker 14: She decided that she could never forgive her father for
- 1:53:09Speaker 14: what he's done, and she doesn't want anything to do
- 1:53:12Speaker 14: with him because he's a beast. But it's okay when
- 1:53:15Speaker 14: it happens to her boyfriend.
- 1:53:16Speaker 5: Well, he's hot, so that makes it all right. Yeah,
- 1:53:20Speaker 5: I thought that, too.
- 1:53:21Speaker 7: I was like, she went very quickly from, I love you, Dad.
- 1:53:24Speaker 7: Thanks for looking out for us, to, oh, I've got
- 1:53:26Speaker 7: to kill this motherfucker.
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:53:28Speaker 5: And then, you know, a few minutes later, it's just like,
- 1:53:30Speaker 5: don't leave.
- 1:53:31Speaker 11: I'll wait for you.
- 1:53:33Speaker 14: And then, like, Gary Oldman's severed hand stabbed through him.
- 1:53:37Speaker 11: Like, really? Really?
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: That's retarded.
- 1:53:40Speaker 5: Silver.
- 1:53:41Speaker 4: The silver-tipped fingernails.
- 1:53:44Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:53:45Speaker 5: I'm getting me some of those. What are you talking about?
- 1:53:47Speaker 4: Those are sporty.
- 1:53:47Speaker 14: Got some silver nail polish, I think, somewhere in this car.
- 1:53:50Speaker 5: No. More than cheesy. You gotta have Lee Press on
- 1:53:52Speaker 5: silver nails.
- 1:53:56Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:53:56Speaker 11: I don't know. It was just kind of like.
- 1:53:59Speaker 5: I mean, here was... There were two things I want
- 1:54:02Speaker 5: to say. Number one, I was like halfway away from
- 1:54:06Speaker 5: a snicker through about half of this movie. Like I
- 1:54:08Speaker 5: could never take it seriously. And I don't even know
- 1:54:11Speaker 5: what it was sometimes. Sometimes it was just the look
- 1:54:13Speaker 5: of it. Anytime that Peter was on the screen, I
- 1:54:16Speaker 5: couldn't help but almost snicker. Everything was just one shade
- 1:54:20Speaker 5: away from, God, this is funny. But it wasn't. I mean,
- 1:54:24Speaker 5: it wasn't a comedy. It wasn't made to be funny.
- 1:54:26Speaker 5: It was just something about it was just you could
- 1:54:29Speaker 5: not take it seriously. And I don't know what it
- 1:54:31Speaker 5: was exactly.
- 1:54:33Speaker 11: There was a.
- 1:54:33Speaker 14: Total lack of comedy in this movie. There wasn't really
- 1:54:35Speaker 14: anything that was funny, like intentionally funny.
- 1:54:38Speaker 5: Sometimes they shove that into stuff that it doesn't need
- 1:54:42Speaker 5: to be, so I don't really have to have that, but...
- 1:54:45Speaker 5: In this, that already is, I mean, a pretty cheesy story.
- 1:54:49Speaker 5: You almost could have lightened it up a little bit
- 1:54:52Speaker 5: because it takes itself so seriously. And we're not is
- 1:54:56Speaker 5: the downside of that. It's like if we were buying
- 1:54:58Speaker 5: into it, and I'm pretty sure nobody in that theater
- 1:55:01Speaker 5: bought into it. So, yeah, I don't know.
- 1:55:04Speaker 4: There was never really anything at stake. I mean, it
- 1:55:07Speaker 4: never felt like you were, she was in peril.
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: No.
- 1:55:12Speaker 4: It never felt like, because, well, it wasn't going to
- 1:55:14Speaker 4: kill her.
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: It wasn't, no. So she was never, ever really in danger.
- 1:55:20Speaker 4: And the rest of the people you didn't give a
- 1:55:23Speaker 4: shit about.
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: No, not really.
- 1:55:24Speaker 4: So what's, you know, she's your protagonist. Why do we
- 1:55:27Speaker 4: care anymore? You know, the wolf's not going to get her. Oh,
- 1:55:30Speaker 4: fuck it. When's Gary Oldman going to die? That's pretty
- 1:55:32Speaker 4: much all that's going to happen.
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: Well, from the beginning, it was kind of like that. Well,
- 1:55:36Speaker 5: like in the very first couple of scenes there together,
- 1:55:39Speaker 5: it's just like, that's it, let's run away. And I
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: was just like, okay. I'm like, go ahead. I was like,
- 1:55:44Speaker 5: what do you have in this town? It's not like now,
- 1:55:47Speaker 5: you know, what do you, bought a house, you know,
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: you got a car, you got to deal with. It's like,
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: in that town, you probably had a knapsack full of
- 1:55:54Speaker 5: crap and you could be gone and you could set
- 1:55:56Speaker 5: up shop in a whole new area and be right
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: where you were when you left. I was like, it really,
- 1:56:01Speaker 5: you don't have to cut anywhere. Aside from her family,
- 1:56:04Speaker 5: you know, that's her roots, I suppose. But other than that,
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: what roots do you have in those kind of lives?
- 1:56:08Speaker 5: I mean, you could pick up and move and do
- 1:56:11Speaker 5: whatever you want. So, you know, they really should have
- 1:56:13Speaker 5: just gotten the hell out of there in the beginning
- 1:56:15Speaker 5: and gotten away from this whole story.
- 1:56:16Speaker 14: I don't know if it was the acting or just
- 1:56:18Speaker 14: because I only touched on these subjects briefly, but nothing
- 1:56:21Speaker 14: seemed serious. Her sister died, and everyone was kind of
- 1:56:25Speaker 14: sad for a minute, but it wasn't, like, a huge deal,
- 1:56:27Speaker 14: you know? Like, her mother admitted to her that her
- 1:56:31Speaker 14: sister was only her half-sister, that she'd been banging her
- 1:56:35Speaker 14: fiancé' s dad. And it wasn't a huge deal. It was
- 1:56:40Speaker 14: just kind of like, I'm going to go to the
- 1:56:43Speaker 14: grocery store and buy some bananas.
- 1:56:45Speaker 11: Not like someone... Something serious happened.
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: She comes upon mom and dad standing over the body
- 1:56:53Speaker 4: of their sister, and they're just like, hey, how's it going?
- 1:56:56Speaker 4: And she goes over and cries, but they're just like, yeah,
- 1:56:58Speaker 4: it sucks, doesn't it?
- 1:56:59Speaker 5: Well, and that's what I thought. I was like, let's
- 1:57:01Speaker 5: all just stand around the body and stare at it
- 1:57:04Speaker 5: like the whole town was, but especially mom and dad
- 1:57:06Speaker 5: just kind of looking at it like it was fireworks
- 1:57:09Speaker 5: or something. Oh, look at that. Hey, look at that.
- 1:57:12Speaker 5: It's a dead person. I was like, what are you doing?
- 1:57:16Speaker 5: it's like go put a sheet over and drag her
- 1:57:20Speaker 5: away and go bury her don't stand there for hours
- 1:57:22Speaker 5: and stare at her you weirdos yeah.
- 1:57:27Speaker 4: Yeah and I love I love how when a when
- 1:57:29Speaker 4: a A wolf scratches you across the chest, you're dead.
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: It does. Yeah.
- 1:57:35Speaker 4: You know, I mean, a wolf is going to rip
- 1:57:37Speaker 4: the shit out of you, but if it scratches you
- 1:57:39Speaker 4: across the chest, you're dead.
- 1:57:41Speaker 5: That's it.
- 1:57:43Speaker 14: I would think you might get, like, a staph infection
- 1:57:45Speaker 14: and eventually die from it after a couple of months.
- 1:57:48Speaker 5: Not there, because everything there is clean. There are no germs.
- 1:57:52Speaker 4: But if it scratches you on the face like it
- 1:57:54Speaker 4: does with Virginia Madsen, it heals in, like, three days. Oh,
- 1:57:56Speaker 4: it heals instantly.
- 1:57:57Speaker 5: Yeah. I think that's because she was a vampire. That's
- 1:58:04Speaker 5: a whole different spinoff movie they're working on.
- 1:58:06Speaker 4: It was the makeup that helped her.
- 1:58:07Speaker 5: Well, that too. She had like four pounds of makeup.
- 1:58:10Speaker 5: it couldn't get through.
- 1:58:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that wasn't scars. That was just concealer.
- 1:58:17Speaker 5: Once I chiseled off the rest of my makeup, I
- 1:58:19Speaker 5: was fine.
- 1:58:21Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:58:24Speaker 14: If you want to watch this movie, don't. Watch Twilight
- 1:58:28Speaker 14: and The Village.
- 1:58:30Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:58:30Speaker 4: They're both good movies.
- 1:58:32Speaker 11: And get drunk.
- 1:58:32Speaker 5: Get drunk. I don't know if I can get behind
- 1:58:35Speaker 5: Twilight being a good movie, but.
- 1:58:37Speaker 4: At least you got vampire baseball.
- 1:58:39Speaker 5: I know I bring it up a lot.
- 1:58:41Speaker 4: I don't like that either. Oh, come on. You gotta
- 1:58:44Speaker 4: love vampire baseball.
- 1:58:45Speaker 5: No, I don't.
- 1:58:47Speaker 11: I mean.
- 1:58:51Speaker 14: At least in Twilight they lived in a really cool house.
- 1:58:55Speaker 14: Like all the vampires lived in a really cool house.
- 1:58:58Speaker 11: I mean.
- 1:58:59Speaker 4: And why would you have beds if you're vampires that
- 1:59:01Speaker 4: never sleeped? Just pointing that out.
- 1:59:02Speaker 11: I don't think they did have beds, did they?
- 1:59:04Speaker 4: I don't know. I thought she had a bed in
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: his room. Maybe I'm wrong. I ain't going back to
- 1:59:09Speaker 4: watch it.
- 1:59:10Speaker 5: How do they make that baby then?
- 1:59:12Speaker 4: Yeah, really.
- 1:59:13Speaker 11: How is that even possible? You're dead.
- 1:59:15Speaker 14: I mean, do vampires still have sperm?
- 1:59:18Speaker 5: Do they sparkle? I mean, there's a lot of loopholes
- 1:59:22Speaker 5: in this plot line.
- 1:59:23Speaker 11: I just know in True Blood, when vampires cry, they
- 1:59:25Speaker 11: cry blood.
- 1:59:26Speaker 5: Alright, that's hot then. Hot, bloody sperm.
- 1:59:32Speaker 14: Yeah, so that's what we were trying to decide when
- 1:59:35Speaker 14: we were watching it.
- 1:59:36Speaker 11: We're like, so... Because that's all.
- 1:59:38Speaker 14: They do in True Blood is bang each other. It's
- 1:59:40Speaker 14: just like, so do, you know, is it like blood too?
- 1:59:43Speaker 11: I mean.
- 1:59:44Speaker 5: I'm going to blood all over you, honey. Gross. Gross. So,
- 1:59:49Speaker 5: you brought it up. Don't start it if you don't
- 1:59:51Speaker 5: want me to finish it.
- 1:59:52Speaker 4: Maybe it's sparkle spur.
- 1:59:53Speaker 5: There you go. Wait, doesn't that kind of.
- 1:59:57Speaker 11: It's sparkles.
- 1:59:58Speaker 5: You just kind of, yeah, you got to give it
- 2:00:00Speaker 5: a few hours. So, all right. And that was it.
- 2:00:06Speaker 5: The other thing I was going to say, the other
- 2:00:07Speaker 5: main thing that I. I was thinking in the middle
- 2:00:10Speaker 5: of this movie, and it's funny because as soon as
- 2:00:12Speaker 5: you got to the car, I think you kind of
- 2:00:14Speaker 5: were probably thinking the same thing. I was maybe 20
- 2:00:18Speaker 5: minutes into this movie, and I was like, okay, this
- 2:00:20Speaker 5: needs to hurry up and end because I got things
- 2:00:21Speaker 5: I want to talk about.
- 2:00:23Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:00:24Speaker 7: That's a bad sign in a movie when you can't
- 2:00:26Speaker 7: wait until it's over so you can talk shit about it.
- 2:00:29Speaker 4: Talk shit about it, yeah.
- 2:00:30Speaker 5: I was like, oh, hurry up. I've got to make
- 2:00:32Speaker 5: fun of Peter's face. Come on.
- 2:00:34Speaker 4: I was just praying that for some reason one of
- 2:00:36Speaker 4: you two didn't like it. I was like, what? It
- 2:00:38Speaker 4: was good. I might have to just quit the show altogether.
- 2:00:43Speaker 14: I mean, I just don't think they should... it just
- 2:00:47Speaker 14: felt like a sci-fi.
- 2:00:48Speaker 13: Channel movie oh no it's like it's better than that
- 2:00:52Speaker 13: i won't go so far as to say that because
- 2:00:54Speaker 13: those are those are pretty bad yeah but those aren't
- 2:00:57Speaker 13: even trying but like this one they were trying and
- 2:01:00Speaker 13: they just failed but they.
- 2:01:02Speaker 5: At least put effort into this one where they don't
- 2:01:04Speaker 5: even do that with sci-fi anymore it's just a joke
- 2:01:07Speaker 5: and they know it's a joke this one it's like
- 2:01:09Speaker 5: they weren't even in on the joke in this movie
- 2:01:12Speaker 5: They were just like showing up and thinking this was like,
- 2:01:14Speaker 5: you know, Oscar caliber work. But sadly, we all disagree.
- 2:01:18Speaker 4: What religion was Gary Oldman supposed to be?
- 2:01:23Speaker 5: A father, but he can knock out a couple of kids.
- 2:01:26Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:01:27Speaker 5: Maybe the rules were different back then in fairytale times.
- 2:01:30Speaker 4: And Lucas Haas looked and acted nothing like clergy.
- 2:01:34Speaker 5: Was he clergy? Yeah. I thought he was just like
- 2:01:36Speaker 5: a religious fanboy. He was just ready to blow.
- 2:01:39Speaker 4: I think he was supposed to be the priest.
- 2:01:42Speaker 5: Was he? I had no idea that's what he.
- 2:01:44Speaker 4: Was supposed to be. He was the only one that
- 2:01:45Speaker 4: had the cross on. He always looked like he was
- 2:01:48Speaker 4: living or going back into the church.
- 2:01:51Speaker 5: You know, once again, they didn't really make that quite
- 2:01:55Speaker 5: evident in the story enough because... He.
- 2:01:58Speaker 14: Played an excellent Amish person, so we know he has
- 2:02:01Speaker 14: the talent to play someone with religious conviction.
- 2:02:04Speaker 5: I mean, again, that one's another letdown because, I mean,
- 2:02:07Speaker 5: he's actually a really good actor now, but he has
- 2:02:10Speaker 5: nothing to do in this. He just stands there looking
- 2:02:12Speaker 5: at Gary Oldman the whole time going, oh, my God,
- 2:02:15Speaker 5: you're so awesome. Oh, like he's just.
- 2:02:17Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:02:18Speaker 5: Every few seconds they get his voice to crack again.
- 2:02:21Speaker 5: And I'm like, you know, he's not 14 anymore. Right.
- 2:02:23Speaker 5: He still looks young, but you know what? He's like
- 2:02:26Speaker 5: 35 or 40 now. I'm like, quit giving him these roles.
- 2:02:29Speaker 4: He played, he played, what was that, in Brick.
- 2:02:32Speaker 5: Yeah. He's amazing in that. He's fantastic in that movie.
- 2:02:35Speaker 5: And I just, he just saw him in Inception. He
- 2:02:37Speaker 5: doesn't have a big role, but he's good in it.
- 2:02:39Speaker 5: I'm just like, give him good roles and he can
- 2:02:41Speaker 5: do it. But this, he has nothing to do in
- 2:02:44Speaker 5: this movie. Absolutely nothing.
- 2:02:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:02:47Speaker 5: So, yeah, if you can't wait to get through this
- 2:02:49Speaker 5: movie to make fun of it, feel free to watch it.
- 2:02:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:02:52Speaker 4: There's got to be a drinking game hidden in this
- 2:02:54Speaker 4: movie somewhere.
- 2:02:57Speaker 5: Every time somebody needs a Coke, take a drink. You'll
- 2:03:00Speaker 5: be dead by the end of the movie.
- 2:03:02Speaker 14: You know what bothered me most about this movie, I think,
- 2:03:05Speaker 14: was her little dreamy sequence.
- 2:03:07Speaker 11: Like, talking over things, explaining things.
- 2:03:10Speaker 14: You know, like, I still have my mother and my father.
- 2:03:14Speaker 14: But they're not really that important. Peter's the only one
- 2:03:16Speaker 14: I actually care about.
- 2:03:19Speaker 5: Because they have to sum things up again for dumb kids.
- 2:03:22Speaker 4: Because they can't show emotion. They have to tell you.
- 2:03:25Speaker 11: Exactly, yeah. I would do anything for him.
- 2:03:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:03:29Speaker 1: Okay, that's nice.
- 2:03:30Speaker 5: Thanks for letting us know about that.
- 2:03:33Speaker 4: There's another, there's the drinking game. There are so many
- 2:03:36Speaker 4: cliches that are actually spoken in this movie. And you're like, oh, well,
- 2:03:41Speaker 4: where'd they get that good line from? Yeah, it's pretty sad.
- 2:03:49Speaker 11: Thank you.
- 2:03:49Speaker 5: All right. I'm assuming that rounds out Red Riding Hood. Yeah.
- 2:03:57Speaker 3: Great.
- 2:03:57Speaker 4: Isn't a riding hood supposed to be The hood that
- 2:04:01Speaker 4: a woman would wear when she goes riding on a horse.
- 2:04:04Speaker 4: Isn't that right?
- 2:04:06Speaker 5: I guess that's probably where the title came from.
- 2:04:09Speaker 4: In no Red Riding Hood story do they ever mention
- 2:04:11Speaker 4: anything about riding.
- 2:04:13Speaker 5: It's because she's busy riding the wolf or the woodsman.
- 2:04:17Speaker 5: In all of these, it's all very... This is probably
- 2:04:19Speaker 5: the least sexual of any Red Riding Hood stories I've seen. So, yeah,
- 2:04:24Speaker 5: they really don't deliver on that angle.
- 2:04:25Speaker 4: And was Grandma in the pot of soup? At the end.
- 2:04:29Speaker 4: Is that what that was supposed to be?
- 2:04:31Speaker 14: I think they were just implying that dad's an awful cook.
- 2:04:34Speaker 5: I mean, again, in the actual story, that's what happens.
- 2:04:38Speaker 11: She gets put in the soup.
- 2:04:40Speaker 21: I don't really remember yeah i don't know that's in
- 2:04:43Speaker 21: the a bottle of her blood and like a piece
- 2:04:46Speaker 21: of her flesh on the plate or that's yeah earlier
- 2:04:49Speaker 21: today unfortunately i.
- 2:04:50Speaker 5: Watched that the other version yeah so yeah there's they're
- 2:04:54Speaker 5: more graphic than again they kind of just didn't deliver
- 2:04:57Speaker 5: on that either we don't get a lot of blood
- 2:04:59Speaker 5: and gore in this we don't get a lot of
- 2:05:01Speaker 5: acting you don't get a lot of things no the.
- 2:05:03Speaker 4: Gore is a scratch across your chest and that kills
- 2:05:06Speaker 4: you for I.
- 2:05:07Speaker 5: Mean the closest thing I guess would be more the
- 2:05:10Speaker 5: action I do like you know the wolf running around
- 2:05:12Speaker 5: killing people but again you don't see much of it
- 2:05:14Speaker 5: it's just a flash a blur of CGI wolf and
- 2:05:17Speaker 5: then like he just somebody falls into something so.
- 2:05:21Speaker 4: Come to think of it It's PG-13, isn't it?
- 2:05:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:05:24Speaker 4: That's why. They're going for.
- 2:05:27Speaker 5: 13, 14, 15. That's also why we didn't get to
- 2:05:29Speaker 5: see the weathermakers, but, you know, whatever.
- 2:05:31Speaker 4: I thought we were going to get to see some weathermakers, too.
- 2:05:35Speaker 1: I know.
- 2:05:35Speaker 5: Yeah, they PG-13 the hell.
- 2:05:36Speaker 1: Out of it.
- 2:05:37Speaker 14: I didn't know what you were talking about.
- 2:05:38Speaker 11: And then I was like, ah.
- 2:05:40Speaker 4: Whatever those kids were doing that they needed help with
- 2:05:43Speaker 4: were some cock blockers. That's all I gotta say.
- 2:05:45Speaker 5: Yeah, what the hell's that about?
- 2:05:47Speaker 4: Come here, we need some help. And he's like, okay.
- 2:05:49Speaker 1: Hell no.
- 2:05:50Speaker 4: He's not gonna pay for that.
- 2:05:52Speaker 5: I'm kinda in the middle of something right now.
- 2:05:54Speaker 4: I've been working on this since I was ten. What
- 2:05:55Speaker 4: are you doing? I had to kill that bunny for
- 2:05:59Speaker 4: this bitch. Oh, wow.
- 2:06:05Speaker 5: Alright, so that pretty much rounds out the Red Frighting Hood, so.
- 2:06:10Speaker 5: With that, let's see. To round out the rest of
- 2:06:12Speaker 5: the episode here, number one, as we mentioned last week,
- 2:06:15Speaker 5: we are nominated for a Rondo Award. So while you

- 2:06:36Speaker 5: I mean, who else would take the bullet of Red
- 2:06:38Speaker 5: Riding Hood for you? Come on now.
- 2:06:40Speaker 4: Right. That was horror.
- 2:06:42Speaker 5: It was horror. It was nothing but a werewolf movie
- 2:06:44Speaker 5: if you ask me. So it was horror. So, yep,
- 2:06:48Speaker 5: go to rondoaward.com and vote for Movie Mountain.
- 2:06:51Speaker 4: And you'll get another Hotmail account or something like that

- 2:07:29Speaker 5: All right, and to round it out, I played a
- 2:07:32Speaker 5: little of it earlier, but this is just going to
- 2:07:34Speaker 5: be the running theme for this entire Little Red series here.
- 2:07:38Speaker 5: But I thought this first inaugural edition, which we've had
- 2:07:43Speaker 5: two classy movies, but since it's the first one, I'm
- 2:07:47Speaker 5: going to give you the entire song from one of
- 2:07:49Speaker 5: my favorite bands of all time. Marlena, I'm pretty sure
- 2:07:52Speaker 5: it's one of yours, too.
- 2:07:53Speaker 11: Johnny-O and the Jerks.
- 2:07:54Speaker 5: Johnny-O and the Jerks. Little Red Riding Hood. I'm sure
- 2:07:57Speaker 5: we'll do many variations of this song, but there's... probably
- 2:08:00Speaker 5: my favorite so yep it's sad that they have as
- 2:08:04Speaker 5: a band passed on they are no more but their music.
- 2:08:07Speaker 11: Lifts on between me and brian and.
- 2:08:10Speaker 5: Misty that's about it yeah.
- 2:08:13Speaker 14: Jessica although on a side note It is my lifelong
- 2:08:18Speaker 14: goal to marry Ryan Koenig, who was not in Johnny
- 2:08:21Speaker 14: and the Jerks, but he was good friends with them.
- 2:08:23Speaker 5: He sometimes played with them. A good portion of the time, actually.
- 2:08:27Speaker 5: He was sort of like the alternate fourth member of
- 2:08:29Speaker 5: the band for most of the run.
- 2:08:31Speaker 4: Ex-officio.
- 2:08:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:08:33Speaker 5: He sat in a good portion of their existence.
- 2:08:35Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 2:08:36Speaker 14: Not to jinx things, because, I mean, you know, I
- 2:08:40Speaker 14: know him and he knows I exist and stuff like that,
- 2:08:43Speaker 14: but I'm sure he doesn't. Think of me on a
- 2:08:45Speaker 14: regular basis.
- 2:08:46Speaker 11: Look at you, man.
- 2:08:47Speaker 5: Well, if it'll help get the foot in the door,
- 2:08:50Speaker 5: I know his best friend in the world.
- 2:08:54Speaker 1: Shut up.
- 2:08:57Speaker 5: And I can probably get her to put a good
- 2:08:59Speaker 5: word in for you. Nobody else gets that joke, but.
- 2:09:04Speaker 11: Yeah, no, it's cool. I'll see him.
- 2:09:06Speaker 5: Misty has referenced that before. For some reason, Ryan went
- 2:09:09Speaker 5: on a fit one night, I think, because he was
- 2:09:10Speaker 5: massively drunk. that Misty was his best friend. And that
- 2:09:14Speaker 5: she now, like, anytime she hears about him, will be like,
- 2:09:17Speaker 5: you mean my best friend Ryan?
- 2:09:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:09:20Speaker 7: So I don't know if he realizes that he's her
- 2:09:22Speaker 7: best friend anymore, now that he's sober.
- 2:09:24Speaker 5: Well, maybe he's not sober that often. I don't really
- 2:09:26Speaker 5: know him that well.
- 2:09:28Speaker 4: Maybe he gets drunk and tells everybody that Misty's his
- 2:09:30Speaker 4: best friend in the world.
- 2:09:32Speaker 5: I think he did. He certainly was that night.
- 2:09:34Speaker 11: Yeah. He wasn't drunk last time I talked to him.
- 2:09:38Speaker 4: Good for him.
- 2:09:38Speaker 14: You know.
- 2:09:39Speaker 5: But, like I said, I appreciate sober people. I wish
- 2:09:43Speaker 5: there were more of them in the world.
- 2:09:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:09:46Speaker 5: Oh, but yes. We're going out with their song. I'm
- 2:09:50Speaker 5: sure we'll play more because that whole album is phenomenal.
- 2:09:52Speaker 5: So I'll work in as many as I can as
- 2:09:54Speaker 5: we go on. Otherwise, anything else this week?
- 2:09:56Speaker 1: Mm-mm.
- 2:09:58Speaker 5: Round out your... Go see Red Riding Hood. Go see
- 2:10:00Speaker 5: Red Riding Hood. You're right. Exactly what you said.
- 2:10:03Speaker 4: Are we getting paid by them? No, don't see Red
- 2:10:05Speaker 4: Riding Hood.
- 2:10:06Speaker 5: Damn it. Just trying to sucker these bastards in.
- 2:10:10Speaker 16: Yeah, no.
- 2:10:12Speaker 11: Don't do it.
- 2:10:13Speaker 4: Don't do it. We did it. We took the bullet
- 2:10:15Speaker 4: for you.
- 2:10:17Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 2:10:18Speaker 14: Yeah, my friend, I was talking to her on the
- 2:10:21Speaker 14: way into the theater, and she's like, oh, I want
- 2:10:23Speaker 14: to see it.
- 2:10:23Speaker 11: Let me know how it is. I'm going to tell
- 2:10:25Speaker 11: her it was awesome.
- 2:10:26Speaker 5: I'm telling you. That's what I was trying to do.
- 2:10:28Speaker 5: Let's rope some people in just for the hell of it. Yeah,
- 2:10:31Speaker 5: it was great. Go see it.
- 2:10:33Speaker 4: Let's help make this movie successful so there's more shit
- 2:10:36Speaker 4: like this out there.
- 2:10:37Speaker 11: Exactly.
- 2:10:38Speaker 5: Okay, maybe not. I'm changing the plan. Otherwise, that about
- 2:10:42Speaker 5: does it. We will return next week. Same geek time,
- 2:10:44Speaker 5: same geek feed.
- 2:10:45Speaker 4: Thanks for listening.
- 2:10:47Speaker 5: Bye.
- 2:10:48Speaker 11: Bye.
- 2:10:50Speaker 4: Holy shit.
- 2:10:51Speaker 12: Hey there, little red riding hood.
- 2:10:56Speaker 1: You sure are looking good.
- 2:10:59Speaker 17: You're everything a big bad wolf could want.
- 2:11:05Speaker 16: Now listen to me, little red riding hood.
- 2:11:12Speaker 9: I don't think that big girl should go Walking in
- 2:11:18Speaker 9: the spooky.
- 2:11:19Speaker 1: Old woods alone.
- 2:11:25Speaker 17: What big eyes you have, and other eyes that drive old.
- 2:11:32Speaker 9: Man So see that you don't get chased, I think
- 2:11:35Speaker 9: I ought to walk with you for a ways out What.
- 2:11:41Speaker 10: Four lips you have, could sure love some old man
- 2:11:47Speaker 10: Build a gate to grandma's place I think I ought
- 2:11:51Speaker 10: to walk with.
- 2:11:53Speaker 1: You to be saved I'm.
- 2:11:55Speaker 9: Gonna keep my sheep suit on.
- 2:11:59Speaker 5: Until I'm sure that you've.
- 2:12:01Speaker 16: Been shown That I can be just, just one with
- 2:12:06Speaker 16: you alone Little Red Riding Hood I'd like.
- 2:12:16Speaker 9: To hold you if I could But you might think
- 2:12:20Speaker 9: I'm a big bad wolf So I won't What.
- 2:12:25Speaker 16: A big heart I have All the.
- 2:12:31Speaker 10: Better just to love you with Little.
- 2:12:37Speaker 1: Red Riding Hood Even.
- 2:12:39Speaker 5: Bad wolves.
- 2:12:46Speaker 10: Just walk on by my side.
- 2:12:49Speaker 9: Before we get to Grandma's place. You ought to see
- 2:12:54Speaker 9: things just my way.
- 2:12:58Speaker 17: Little Red Riding Hood. You sure are looking good. You're
- 2:13:06Speaker 17: everything a big bad wolf could want.
- 2:13:40Speaker 16: Thank you.
- 2:14:04Speaker 6: Oh, wow.
- 2:14:05Speaker 5: This is so weird.
- 2:14:06Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 2:14:07Speaker 1: What?
- 2:14:08Speaker 5: What?
- 2:14:10Speaker 9: What?
- 2:14:10Speaker 6: What?
