- 3:13another episode, and let's talk about it. I am your host, Shenette
- 3:16Johnson. How you guys are doing today? Today we're gonna be talking to
- 3:25Christopher Taylor again. Christopher is currently serving a life sentence plus sixty four year
- 3:36sentence. He was sentenced as a juvenile in the state of Denver. He
- 3:43is thirty eight years old and come June he will be incarcerated for nineteen years.
- 3:51So welcome Christopher. Hey, Chris, Hey, how you doing.
- 3:55It's a pleasure to be back. Oh I'm doing good. How you doing?
- 4:01I'm maintaining man, doing the best that I can. Absolutely, that's
- 4:04just so let's catch some of the dewers dealers up on the last time we
- 4:15had our discussion, our first discussion. Could you give them just a little
- 4:24brief inside uh the situation. Absolutely so, as you said, I've been
- 4:35incarcerated almost like teen years, and it was since I had just turned twenty.
- 4:43Growing up, I grew up in Northeast Rivers in the Marbello neighborhood,
- 4:46and you know, young African American mal I had all of the same lures
- 4:53that that most of us have, you know, just growing up in the
- 4:56in the hood basically, you know what I mean. Growing up, I
- 5:00had originally had both of my parents, but then ended up having a broken
- 5:04home and that affected me largely. But you know, looking outside in the
- 5:09early nineties and just seeing how gang culture had really cemented to itself in my
- 5:14neighborhood, and my dad family did the best that they could to protect me.
- 5:18However, just growing up poor, I found myself running to the streets,
- 5:23chasing money, learning how to hustle, and that eventually led me on
- 5:28the path to where I began game taking at a very young age. At
- 5:31the age of nineteen turning twenty, I had just been released from prison and
- 5:38you know, I did twenty two months in another state. I hadn't been
- 5:41home but less than a couple of months, and I found myself face to
- 5:45face with a rival gang member that I had a lot of animosity in different
- 5:49situations were growing up, and we ended up having an altercation where he shot
- 5:56my house up multiple times in a response that. A week later, I
- 6:00had another situation with him and I ended up shooting, unfortunately, shooting him
- 6:06in the mall, and I accidentally killed an innitid bystander. I did shoot
- 6:12him unfortunately, extremely unfortunately, and I accidentally shot and won't be another innocent
- 6:17bystander. And because of that, because of my actions, because of poor
- 6:21lifestyle, because of poor decision making, I ended up with a very poor
- 6:26result, and that in somebody losing their life and multiple families, my community,
- 6:30my family, and law affected dramatically, life changing effects. And that
- 6:38was something that I'm still living with, literally living in the consequence of and
- 6:42then also carrying that with me as I've just wanted to grow and to be
- 6:48better, to do better. I'm still living in the consequences of those poor
- 6:51decisions. So that's that's pretty much brings us from childhood to day. Yes,
- 6:59you did up real fast. Okay, So tell us about tell us
- 7:05who is Christopher Thomas? Who is he today compared to who he was years
- 7:15ago? Well, Christopher Taylor today is who understands. No, you're fine,
- 7:23You're fine. I'm a man who understands life just a whole lot differently
- 7:30than the boy that I was, you know, almost almost two decades ago.
- 7:33You Know, when I was young, I had a lot of emotions
- 7:39that I had no idea how to articulate. I didn't know how to process,
- 7:43I didn't know how to deal with. And life was presenting me with
- 7:46poor opportunities, and life was presenting me with a poor perspective and that I
- 7:51had just come to and I made poor decision as a poor decision, not
- 7:56really knowing and understanding that these were life decisions and these were gonna affect lize
- 8:01mind included. And today I understand the value of life like this, this
- 8:07thing is not it's not for play. Like what happens happened, and you
- 8:11have to room with that. And it's the trip. Because as I as
- 8:16I stand in this position today, I've earned an opportunity to talk to people
- 8:26black, white, young old men women like to really tell them and not
- 8:31just talk at them and say you need to do better or else, you
- 8:35know what I mean, Not to stand like I'm holaying now, but to
- 8:39really come down and be very very olden and transparent and vulnerable about who I
- 8:45am, how I got here, and how I'm no different than than anybody
- 8:50else in the room. And so that's that's who I am. And more
- 8:54specifically, I'm gonna tell you exactly how I've both earned and to gifted opportunity
- 9:00to do that right like I'm a part of the mentorship team. It's called
- 9:03the Search movement, the different complant surge movement. Search is an acronym.
- 9:07It stands for seeking, understanding, reaching goals every day. Now I often
- 9:13tell people, you know you think about it like, oh, it's cool,
- 9:16you got a program, Like, no, this isn't a program.
- 9:20Programs have beginnings and end. This is a lifestyle. This is not what
- 9:24I do. This is who I have become. And search that whole acronym
- 9:28that seeking understand the root from goal and every day it's like a formula to
- 9:31problem solving. It's really about decision making. We are accountable to four core
- 9:37pillars, and everything that we do as a team we filter through those four
- 9:41things. And primarily we want to repair citizenship and just think about that.
- 9:45We afforfeited our citizenship because of committing clients right, right, and so in
- 9:52repairing it, what does that even look like? First of all, we
- 9:54have to understand what citizenship is. It's a relationship. It's all right to
- 9:58the law, to our community primarily our community is our family, right,
- 10:03right, and we've broken we've broken that relationship. I don't care if you
- 10:09if you just I don't care if you're just abandoned and just made a decision
- 10:11that takes you away from your kids like you abandoned. You've broken that relation.
- 10:16You hurt that relationship, You've damaged it, right, And so from
- 10:20from substance abuse to the game bang into locked into domestic point, whatever it
- 10:30is, you're damaging your relationship with your community, right, and you forfeit
- 10:35citizenship because of it. We want to promote that you can repair that citizenship.
- 10:39And if you think about that, that line that lines up with what
- 10:43I think I believe a public right, our communities, the public right.
- 10:50You want people to come in here and repair their citizenship unless I mean,
- 10:54in essence, learn how to be a citizen right like right deals, your
- 10:58relationship, earn your role, Understand that you have to take care of your
- 11:03environment, to people around you, Understand that you make decisions that have ripple
- 11:07of sex on people like Looly. That's what we want to do when we
- 11:11promote that by encouraging our population, first of all, to predeem the space
- 11:13and time to the proper use of energy. Then it don't come up here
- 11:16here playing cards and playing dominos all day passing your time. I put a
- 11:20new value on it. Write and use your time. Read the books you
- 11:22should read, have the conversations you should have, address the issues that have
- 11:26been bringing you back. You want to redeem the space and time even sentenced
- 11:31to due time. We promote using it to your benefit right and to your
- 11:33family. We also improve our community to empowerment, meaning that any and everything
- 11:39that I do, I offer myself as a resource to not just you know,
- 11:43not just staff because sometimes they call on us and say, hey,
- 11:46now I need you to talk to a guy, but to my peers like,
- 11:48hey, I'm here, and if I know something that you need young
- 11:52withy, there you go, right, I got you whatever you need.
- 11:56If I know somebody that can help you, and there you go. I
- 11:58offer myself as a resource, and then I also uh you know, kind
- 12:01of pouring into people so that they can learn how to be resourceful and few
- 12:05each other as resources, and that just puts value on people and I don't
- 12:09even want to be a better people instead of better prisoners. I know,
- 12:13a kind of uh yeah, because you you you off to the horses.
- 12:16I'm like, I need to jump in. Oh yeah, you you you
- 12:26really just don't see you man, you speaking the zales. But anyway,
- 12:31do you have a chance to mentor young people that come in there? Do
- 12:39you have a chance to get when they come in there, have a chance
- 12:46to sit down one on one and talk to them? Absolutely? Absolutely?
- 12:52You know. That's that's one of the things that that is so attractive about
- 12:58uh mentorship and being at an intax facility is that you can catch people when
- 13:03they're young and impressionable and make a good impression on them, right, And
- 13:09so being able to sit down with people who are eighteen nineteen with long and
- 13:16short sentences and then maybe plan to see that that may grow into a treat
- 13:20right, instead of sitting down with them and teaching them how to be a
- 13:26better hustler, game ever player or pimps, like let's let's talk about the
- 13:31kids us, like what his fatherhood look like like? Really pour into people
- 13:35and talk about you know you, oh you got a baby, mama,
- 13:39Is that right? What did you how did you treat her? How valuable
- 13:43is you now that you locked up? Well? Come, you can't demonstrate
- 13:45that same value for you know? All right? We so important. We
- 13:50have a I don't mean to cut you off, but we have a question.
- 13:54Do you think that these programs are in play, like in school or
- 14:03you know, like the after school program or something. If these programs like
- 14:07the service program are in place, do you think that will kind of keep
- 14:13the young men and the young women from intern into the prison system. You
- 14:22know, I definitely believe so, because because if you think about what's being
- 14:26taught in schools, it's it's general education. It's not necessarily character development,
- 14:35you know what I mean? And a lot of times, a lot of
- 14:37times, like there's not very many curriculums for grade school level for fifth,
- 14:43sixth, seventh, eighth grade that's gonna teach people about character that focuses on
- 14:48character development. And a lot of times it's not until kids begin to show
- 14:52bad behavior that now they need some attention. But if we if we make
- 14:56if we make character development right, if we make that care element general education,
- 15:03then what happens? What happens then, is is kids grow up and
- 15:07learn how to care for each other. We wouldn't have so many people who
- 15:13don't who lack care, right, Like, I think it's simple. It's
- 15:18unfortunate that it takes people. It's taking so many of us right to lose
- 15:22so much to realize it's importance. And it feels as if there's too late.
- 15:26However, it's programs like this, and there are a lot of beautiful
- 15:30programs that really you know, noble, there are a lot of beautiful programs
- 15:33that pour it to the young people. But if if was like mandate that
- 15:39you have to have something that's going to teach young people how to care for
- 15:43other people and teach young people just just how far their decision making will affect
- 15:50their future and other people, you know what I mean, Like, I
- 15:52think that's super beneficial. We start talking about predisions. Yeah, because right
- 15:58now I was reading where Denver is actually funding more money into the prison system
- 16:07instead into education, and you know, and I think that's kind of crazy
- 16:14because I would think that the money would want to go you would want to
- 16:18put your money, the money into education instead into the prison system. You're
- 16:26gonna put the money into education to prevent them from coming there, you know,
- 16:32to you know, just educate them on on life in general. If
- 16:38they're not getting it at home, if their parents is not you know,
- 16:41around to teach them anything, maybe they can get it from a teacher.
- 16:51You know, that's spot on. That's about just what message does that send
- 16:56If I'm more focused on, uh, people up for their poor decision than
- 17:00I am on educating and the form of their decision making, right, it's
- 17:06a very clear message of where uh, you know, whoever's doing the Sunday
- 17:11like, whoever we're not going to, whoever's saying, hey, let's put
- 17:12some money into this. It's telling me what you think is important, right
- 17:17right, holding people accountable instead of preventing poor decisions, and that is extremely
- 17:21backward. So I agree with you wholeheartedly. Yeah. So also, you
- 17:26know, we talked about the Surge. You let us know about the Surge
- 17:29program, and you are with the Catch Project. What is with the what's
- 17:34the Catch project? Is that still? Is that something like the Surge movement?
- 17:41It's actually something that's closely connected to it. It actually lives up under
- 17:45our umbrella. The Catch Project is something that I created some years ago,
- 17:52like twenty nineteen, and it stands for changing attitudes through cognitive healing. And
- 17:56what we do is we focus on some things that I personally missed out on
- 18:03when I was incarcerated at a very young age, and they are relationship building
- 18:07and understanding, Like how important is that a lot of times we just don't
- 18:11know how to relate, We don't know how to be in relationship, We
- 18:15don't know how to value things and how does it benefit me instead of mutual
- 18:21reciprocity. So it's just important that we talk about that, I believe,
- 18:25especially at a young age and group dynamics from prison, right, Like how
- 18:30easy is it's solved victim to something because you don't understand the messages you're sending
- 18:36and you don't understand how to control or influence your dynamic. And you know,
- 18:40it's something that I believe that people are only going to treat you how
- 18:42you allow them to. Right. Definitely, type of strong focal point on
- 18:47understanding and establishing boundaries. You also talk about knowing yourself, and that not
- 18:52just knowing my life and my dislikes, but knowing my traumas, know of
- 18:56my tuggers, knowing where they come from. And then having to develop the
- 19:00toolkits to address core issues. That that's where change comes from at its core
- 19:07is being able to notice that, hey, man, I got some things
- 19:11I need to work on, and then learning how to work on them,
- 19:14and being implementing what you've learned. And finally we talk a little bit about
- 19:18credit repair and savings and budgetings because financial literacy is extremely important. It's it's
- 19:26always taught at the grade level, but it's it's something that every human being
- 19:30in order to really manage your money correctly right to be successful in that endeavor,
- 19:34you need to know and everybody has to have credit, good credit if
- 19:37you want to be able to avoid high interest rates and if you want to
- 19:41purchase a core get you an apartment, that's important. So I think about
- 19:45a person who gets out of Prinson doesn't know how to build credit or maintain
- 19:49the credit, then how do you get to replace if you don't understand this
- 19:53basic principle and all people should know, but most of us don't. So
- 19:59those are the fo ormes that we talk about in the catch project is divined
- 20:03to to catch a person right, whether or at and have one more right
- 20:07to catch a person right where they're at. And not leave them there.
- 20:11Okay, So what we're going to do right now? I want you to
- 20:18call me back because you have a book, and I want to get into
- 20:25your book. I want to talk about your book a little, a little,
- 20:29So Angela, could you send us to a commercial real quick please.
- 20:37At Wings of Transformation Publishing, we are committed to helping our authors reach their
- 20:42goals and pursue their dreams of becoming published authors. We work closely with each
- 20:48author to ensure a successful publishing experience, and we are dedicated to helping them
- 20:53tell their stories in the most meaningful and impactful ways. We look forward to
- 20:59putting you on the path to writing your book. A person persia all things
- 21:12and what things do? Stupid? Where did all the blue sky's? But
- 21:21all as mister bloats from the law something one person, all things and what
- 21:33they used to be Call is not private. It will be recorded, and
- 21:44if you believe this would be a private call, please hang up and follow
- 21:47the facility instructions to register this number as a private number, to accept charges,
- 21:52and thank you for using to purists. You may start the conversation now.
- 21:56We welcome back, Chris, Welcome back. I'm glad to be here.
- 22:03Yes. Yes, So when we don't talked about the surge, we
- 22:07talked about catch the Catch program. You gave us a brief description of what
- 22:19happened that got that got you that sentence I just have. But I know
- 22:26we talked about this the other day and I just wanted to know, do
- 22:34you before we get into your book, do you think the sentence that they
- 22:41gave you as a juvenile, what's excessive? Well, let let me be
- 22:53like one and affair. I believe that while while technically like legally in the
- 23:02state at that time, I was not a juvenile. However, new legislation
- 23:08just supports what we all know that at nineteen twenty twenty one, you are
- 23:15just as young, underdeveloped an imagery tour as a juvenile. And so to
- 23:22answer that question, I think that it was excessive. It's very hard.
- 23:26It's very hard to say what's writing was fair when you're responsible to somebody not
- 23:33having any opportunity that will live right. He's very hard to sit there and
- 23:37say, oh, I don't think this is fair, or hey, this
- 23:40is excessive. You know, it's just hard. You know. The young
- 23:44lady, her name was christmaher Martine. She was nineteen and she hasn't had
- 23:47an opportunity to live, so it's so hard to say it. At the
- 23:52very same time, my prayer is that God, the universe, whoever that
- 24:00makes the decision, can understand that that I am a different person completely like
- 24:07I was a boy, right, and I don't deserve anything. But I
- 24:11feel that could be sentenced to die in prison to say that I just don't
- 24:17I don't fit in society, that I'm a thread, I'm a danger to
- 24:21public safety. I feel that that is unfair. I'm not saying I shouldn't
- 24:27be held accountable. I definitely feel right. I'm supposed to be a You
- 24:32make a poor decision, you cast somebody that you got to pay the price.
- 24:34Bottom line, I just don't believe that you honor a life by taking
- 24:41a life, especially if that person shows that they can't be rehabilitated and has
- 24:48value in this society of bad society. I feel like that person, hopefully
- 24:56with get another opportunity to get things right. That's fair, That's quite fair.
- 25:03And you know Pete Lee did said that, you know, certain age
- 25:11groups wasn't redeemable, but we all know, you know what the Bible that
- 25:18that Jesus died for us, and how can man say we're not redeemable?
- 25:25But Jesus said that we are redeemable. But you know that's a whole nother
- 25:30subject. And but as long as you believe, believe, believe his word,
- 25:40you know you're a forgiven and he all we have to do is ask
- 25:42for forgiveness. So let's let's get into your book, Chris. And your
- 25:56book is called change the Uh you know I've been having a herdor. Go
- 26:03ahead. Uh, this book is called Change the Inhabitable. Yeah, yeah,
- 26:11okay, yeah, and you guys can find it on Amazon. Is
- 26:18on Amazon. So all right, let's let's talk about it. You know,
- 26:25I did order it, but it haven't got here. It haven't reached
- 26:30me as a today, so I am going to I am going to read
- 26:37it, and but just to let you know, I did order it.
- 26:42So let's talk about your book. Give us my outline of what your book
- 26:48is about. Well, what's to day. Let me first say thank you
- 26:53for your support. I want I want everybody to know. I want everybody
- 26:57to know that what I what I've done with this with this project is I've
- 27:03donated. I'm honored. I've committed to donating uh ten percent of each book
- 27:10to nonprofit organizations in honor of and in the names of the three individuals that
- 27:15that are harmed and their families. Right. So, uh, that's just
- 27:23it's important. It's important to note that and the percentage of this book goes
- 27:29to those go to organizations in the honor of those people. Right. No,
- 27:33people, Crystal Market, cow Boards and system holds Field. I just
- 27:37think it's important that you know that as you support me. It's not just
- 27:41like, hey, we line in Christmas, but no, this is a
- 27:42project where we're also doing our best to give back, to maintain restern processing
- 27:48and discipline and so change the inevitable. It's it's about so what I want
- 27:55to you know, I think that that's amazing. You know you you you
- 28:03took a kind of ability for your actions and now you've given ten percent of
- 28:11your book sells to a nonprofit in the three names of the of the victim.
- 28:23I commend you. My hat's off to you. I appreciate it.
- 28:30And you know, there's nothing that I can do that's gonna make things better.
- 28:33But I've committed my life to living a little bit differently, and it's
- 28:40public service from here on out. That's just the way it has to be.
- 28:42And that's how I feel what happens when you take from society, you
- 28:48have to learn how to give back. And so whatever I do is it's
- 28:52gonna always, in one way or another, be for somebody else's benefit and
- 28:56support. And I just think that destinate like you just talked about with Jesus
- 29:00did he was the number one servant people certain and these serves the people that
- 29:07needed it. And so anything that I can do when you find an organization
- 29:11that give my first world you check out. I didn't get a lot of
- 29:14money I gave. I gave fifty dollars of one hundred dollars check to kids,
- 29:19these causes out here in Colorado. And what she does is she gives
- 29:23to kids, school supplies for kids, toy dorage for kids, and a
- 29:29sponsorship for kids. Right. And so while here you are with somebody who's
- 29:33just giving doing organizing a system that's gonna support at risk kids locally. So
- 29:38while would I, hey, let me let me see if I can give
- 29:41you something to you know what I mean? And that's the way I think
- 29:45that we have to live. And if you if you're familiar with her story.
- 29:48It comes from a position of trauma. She went through something and that's
- 29:52what put her on that path. And so I think that that's the motto,
- 29:56like if you go through something, if you're responsible to something, when
- 29:59you do something, and those are the those are those uncomfortable moments that start
- 30:03change and good to develop its change be inevitable, which, if you think
- 30:08about it, change is inevitable. What's gonna happen. That's universe wealth.
- 30:12So you might as well change what's inevitable, meaning you might as well get
- 30:17behind your own change, embrace your own comfort, right and coach your own
- 30:22growth, and from from my perspectives, from my experiences and from having to
- 30:30grow up in prison and watch people come in here and continue making poor decisions
- 30:37right. Continue in an addition, continue in game band, stay and committed
- 30:41to the old lifestyle, and all they do is create a worse life than
- 30:45they had hopeless poor uh sad you know, wrongly destructure that they just continue
- 30:53on doing exactly what they've been doing, and they do it in comfort.
- 30:57And from me, my growth is so uncomfortable, like having conversations with people
- 31:03when I thought I was a good dude, because I had to compromise certain
- 31:07morals and then to have somebody say, no, you shot three people.
- 31:11You think because you didn't do A, B and C that you're good And
- 31:15having those conversations when I was young, like whoa, I've been looking at
- 31:18this thing different right when you when you sit in here, I mean,
- 31:23it's just it's it's so much that goes into it. However, let me
- 31:26back up what it is. This book right here is more or less about
- 31:30a personal journey through the thing we go through. Right We utilize hindsight to
- 31:37learn our lesson sides, gentify trauma, to figure out what our traders got,
- 31:40to figure out why we are the way we are, while we responding
- 31:44people to respond to people, we utilize foresight foresight to say, hey,
- 31:48if I can, if I can learn from what I did before and how
- 31:51I respond to reacted before. But then when I see a situation similar to
- 31:56it, I can make them to you educated guess and on how this thing
- 31:57is going to turn out, and I can make an informed decision because my
- 32:00experience it's an important Then we talk a little bit about insight, where you
- 32:05begin to have this I don't know if the right world is clairvoyance, but
- 32:08it's just being able to be in the moment and understand what's at play,
- 32:13understand what's at stake, and understand that, hey, if I make this
- 32:16type of decision to get this type of result, because let me make my
- 32:21next move my best move. And then I elaborate once we once we walk
- 32:25through that past, like that personal journey of like identifying and learning and become
- 32:30a self aware and then figuring out what the next step is. I think
- 32:34it's important that we talk about dreams and vision because we all have, right
- 32:40when we're young, we have dreams, and if you think about it,
- 32:44when you were young, probably like, oh, I want to be a
- 32:45firefighter, I want to be an astronaut, I want to be superman,
- 32:49a superwoman, and then you know, you realize that life might got something
- 32:53a little bit different for you, right, so your dreams don't necessarily become
- 32:59your reality become older. And I believe that, you know, dreams are
- 33:05one of those things that come from young people. And I think their vision,
- 33:08like men, women, like adults, like people who are mature and
- 33:13understand who they are on this planet. They walk in vision because vision is
- 33:19who you know you can be if you'll das either go after it, it's
- 33:22not understanding if reality can hold it right. The difference between the dream and
- 33:27the vision is the work you put into it. It's just one of those
- 33:30things. And so in the book I outlined on a few people that have
- 33:35demonstrated is whether they do it or not. They demonstrated exactly what it looks
- 33:38like to go after what you believe is coming to you and then to be
- 33:43successful. That's for lentit and then you can you can look at the opposite
- 33:46of that. You can see people who know big for anybody, but it
- 33:52is just the truth. Some people go and get a student law. I
- 33:55mean, some people go and do things that they think are uh what they
- 34:00want to do early on, and then they end up, you know,
- 34:04not following through and now you've made some decisions that you've gotten off of your
- 34:07task and you still are dealing with those consequences. So I was just going
- 34:10to encourage people to clearly identify what you want to do, who you are,
- 34:15operate on passion, but what's real to you, and then have discipline
- 34:22commitment to see you do Because if if if Bill Gates is Beyonce, if
- 34:27anybody successful can attain it right, and they are just as humans as we
- 34:34are. That we can have when we're after we just have to follow us.
- 34:38Yeah, follow a few flipsteps, so to speak, right, follow
- 34:42a few examples, and we can have things just like just like you know
- 34:46we can. So anyway, I think it's important. I think this book
- 34:52is important. I wrote it because again, I just found myself serving and
- 34:58a large part of what I do day in day out, A lot of
- 35:00who I am is really speaking to people and just trying to redirectly say reform
- 35:07at perspective. So if I can articulate my way, if I can articulate
- 35:12my experiences, if I could say something that you've probably heard before but I
- 35:15ain't heard it like I said it, then maybe you know, we can
- 35:19we can say somebody so I can get the decision or life change and decisions
- 35:23start making something. So Yeah, it's a it's a you know, if
- 35:29you ask me, it's a much read. Please go out and get this
- 35:31Brook. Yeah, that's not for me, for you, for just to
- 35:39your daughters or anybody that makes struggling to get to that next step. It
- 35:44may be something in here for them. Yes, And you know what Chris,
- 35:49uh, you know what I'm just said in awe and what you do
- 35:54every time I see you, you have this big old smile on your face.
- 36:00You had a big old smile on your face and all that you dealing
- 36:07with just to see and then here here your you know, what advice would
- 36:19you give to you if you had children, or even your nephews or nieces
- 36:25or what advice would you give to them. That's a good question. That's
- 36:34a good question. I would definitely tell them first and foremost, begin with
- 36:40the end in mind. If you make a decision and think about what it's
- 36:45going to do for you, and what it's going to do for your family,
- 36:49what it's going to do to somebody else. You know, always exercise
- 36:52hympathies. Might put yourself in somebody else's shoes. And if you don't want
- 36:57nobody still in your tennis shoes, better not still nobody's shoes. Right,
- 37:00If you want somebody to help your mom carry the groceries, you need to
- 37:04help somebody else's mom, like exer so, I operate from some sencere laws,
- 37:08and for the for the life of me, right, don't follow what
- 37:15what pop culture? Don't follow what rap video don't follow with social media,
- 37:22don't follow with your friends going on, don't follow those trends, because as
- 37:30long as you are focusing on what God is doing for somebody else, you're
- 37:34gonna miss what God is gonna do for you. You have to focus on
- 37:37your blessing, and your blessing is gonna look fundamentally different than everybody else's.
- 37:43So I would I would stress that, and of course I would say it
- 37:45in a way that I that they can comprehend it, of course, but
- 37:50that would be the gist of like the advice I would give. It's like
- 37:53the authentical with yourself. Find confidence that you know what I mean, who
- 38:00you are, so that God got something good for you and it raised your
- 38:02own comfort. Yeah, when it gets uncomfortable, know you all, you're
- 38:07on the custom change. Notice you're on the custom change, So they break
- 38:12your own comfort. Yes, yes, definitely. So you know our time
- 38:17is is winding down. I don't know how much time time you have on
- 38:22your end, and I know that you've written a poem. I have,
- 38:28so I want you to go ahead and go ahead and read your poem because
- 38:37this month is National Poet Treatment. So on Friday, if you guys missed
- 38:45it. Please go back and watch the the read there. I believe that
- 38:52the read the relay. Go back and watch the the podcast on Friday.
- 39:00You will be blessed. You damn women really really brong it. Go Please
- 39:07go back and watch the replay on the Crew podcast. Go ahead, Chris
- 39:14Well, I definitely appreciate the poems is untitled, and I'm gonna just express
- 39:20it. I said, there's levels to be mentioned when you speak of my
- 39:23ascension. Royalty is born with kings truly built within this value of adversity,
- 39:30a love of call that hurts to be transm to the diamonds and impression so
- 39:35perfectly. I'm purposeful be pushed past my limits. Glam God sin the Atlantic,
- 39:39back to the land of Kimmids. We are descended to teams. They
- 39:44should bow in our presences. There may be just down in oppress us.
- 39:46We're getting reckless. I'm tired of stilling selfless, like I lost myself,
- 39:51Like I'm marching to the beat and I'm off one step, stepped off of
- 39:53this Porsche, off in the streets where the homies is harboring beats and officers
- 39:58office with heaths. Said that obvious that the lack of knowledge is holding a
- 40:01stagnant. Remember, we would do the meding over this planet. You've been
- 40:06hand in the gampit to take advantage or forever stranded wherever you stand and stand
- 40:10tall like Marcus can't be, but don't stand it all. Then you got
- 40:14the juice. Now if you can't handle it, hand it off. It's
- 40:16nothing to prove. Now to whom much is given, much is expected,
- 40:20much as invested. So we move the noose from the next and the next
- 40:23generations, the blessed generation, young and ext on. They come first,
- 40:28women and children into the middle, will fight to the destiny, herbs and
- 40:32fighting. But every rest that's my sect section. So homey, it ain't
- 40:36no questions. Well, I'm reaping my section. It's a blessing just to
- 40:38be standing. So I stand on my square in one hand across my off
- 40:43chest, the other raised in the air. I solemnly swear that's that's the
- 40:47end of it. I have to go. We're running very low. They're
- 40:50doing the merchant account. Okay, situation for the man, thank you.
- 40:55I have to go. Okay, okay, the caller has hould up.
- 41:00That was Christopher Taylor. He's currently in Denver, Colorado. He had to
- 41:06get off the phone because they had to do an emergency count. Wow.
- 41:10While every time I see him, he just had this big old smile on
- 41:15his face and he's doing Life plus sixty four years. There's life plus sixty
- 41:27four years and he still smiles. Thank you guys for joining in with me
- 41:34tonight. Like I said, if you guys didn't, if you miss Friday
- 41:42the Poetry, please go back and watch the replay on the Crew podcast.
- 41:51Them women, those queens, they really, I mean, they really put
- 41:58it out there and they all touched my heart. They are they The first
- 42:05three had me over here crying. Trebda she's on the podcast. She's a
- 42:12I forgot the name of her her podcast, but she really had me crying.
- 42:17And man, your tributa you touched touched my heart. But I'm going
- 42:23to end. I'm in. I'm gonna end this. I'm gonna show you
- 42:27a picture of Chris. He sent me a picture and I was going to
- 42:30put it up while he was doing his his poem. This is Christopher Thomas
- 42:38Taylor. This is Christopher that big. He has that big old smile and
- 42:44this is how he is. Every time I seen you guys, you can

- 43:09me. All things ain't what they do stupid Where in all the blue sky's
- 43:21book boys and the thought blows from the north
