Latest / The Mark Simone Show / Hour 2: What is Dot cake?
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simon Show, Live from ther Life Back studios.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Well, hey, look at that. Suddenly it's June first, it's June.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Now a lot to get to this hour. Do you
- 0:13Speaker 2: know what dot cake is? This is the hottest thing
- 0:17Speaker 2: to eat in America. Dot cake is the hottest thing
- 0:20Speaker 2: on Instagram. It's also the stupidest thing. We'll get to
- 0:24Speaker 2: that later in the hour. We'll explain it all to you. Now,
- 0:27Speaker 2: the big news of the day, CBS puts out an
- 0:30Speaker 2: official statement confirming Colbert was losing forty million dollars a year.
- 0:36Speaker 2: The show a disaster, losing forty million a year. Don't
- 0:39Speaker 2: let anybody tell you otherwise. Absolutely confirmed by CBS official statement.
- 0:44Speaker 2: So you know, in Maine, they got this crazy race.
- 0:49Speaker 2: They got this guy Platiner running, and first it comes
- 0:54Speaker 2: out that he has a big, huge Nazi tattoo right
- 0:57Speaker 2: on his chest. And it turns out it's not even
- 1:01Speaker 2: just a regular Nazi tattoo. It's a special SS tattoo.
- 1:07Speaker 2: It's a division of the SS that ran the death camps.
- 1:10Speaker 2: It's like the most evil tattoo you could possibly have
- 1:14Speaker 2: on yourself. And it's not a little one on his arm.
- 1:16Speaker 2: It's a big, huge one in the middle of his chest.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Apparently he spent a lot of money trying to get
- 1:21Speaker 2: it off his chest, but for eighteen years he loved
- 1:24Speaker 2: having it there. Again, it's a big tattoo in the
- 1:28Speaker 2: middle of his chest. You can't miss it. I assume
- 1:30Speaker 2: the guy takes a shower every now and then it
- 1:32Speaker 2: looks in the mirror. It's right there. You can't miss it.
- 1:34Speaker 2: So he had it there. When asked to explain why
- 1:37Speaker 2: he got such an evil tattoo, he came up with
- 1:40Speaker 2: some ridiculous explanation. He's got all kinds of problems. This Platiner.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Maine is kind of a different place nowadays. It's not
- 1:49Speaker 2: a big population in Maine, so enough New Yorkers are
- 1:52Speaker 2: enough outsiders moving there that are left wing cooks. It
- 1:55Speaker 2: can change the balance of the voting pretty so he
- 2:02Speaker 2: looked like he had a chance to when he's got
- 2:03Speaker 2: the Democratic nomination. Although there's so many things coming out
- 2:08Speaker 2: against this guy. I hear that behind the scenes, major
- 2:12Speaker 2: Democrats are trying to get him out. It is possible.
- 2:16Speaker 2: You have until sometime in July to replace him as
- 2:19Speaker 2: the nominee. Don't be surprised if that happens in the
- 2:22Speaker 2: next couple of weeks if they get him out. He's
- 2:24Speaker 2: now trying hard to stay in the race. The other thing,
- 2:27Speaker 2: he's got caught on some hookup site texting sexting with
- 2:33Speaker 2: six different women while he's married. Now, it's not a
- 2:38Speaker 2: crime if you want to sex with a bunch of women.
- 2:41Speaker 2: In fact, if I had a choice between being a
- 2:43Speaker 2: senator and sexting with women, I'd rather do that. It
- 2:46Speaker 2: sounds like more fun. Who wants to sit in the
- 2:48Speaker 2: Senate all day and go through bills and legislation. But
- 2:53Speaker 2: it's pretty bad now. Even Dave Portnoy has jumped in
- 2:55Speaker 2: on this Portnite writing, not caring about him wheeling six
- 3:01Speaker 2: chicks at once when he was married, that's your choice.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Not caring that he pretends to be a populace when
- 3:07Speaker 2: he went to one of the richest private prep schools
- 3:09Speaker 2: in America, that's your choice. Not caring that he went
- 3:13Speaker 2: to war, saying he always wanted to kill people, and
- 3:16Speaker 2: that's your choice. Not caring he went to work for
- 3:19Speaker 2: Blackwater after serving and now calls the army very dumb.
- 3:23Speaker 2: That's your choice. Not caring that he made fun of
- 3:27Speaker 2: Purple Heart recipients. That's your choice. Not caring that he
- 3:31Speaker 2: masturbates in porta potties, that's your choice. Oh I didn't
- 3:36Speaker 2: know about that one, all right. Not caring I'm editing
- 3:41Speaker 2: out words here, Not caring that he's put awful things
- 3:45Speaker 2: on line that he had to delete horrible, horrible comments
- 3:48Speaker 2: in the past. That's your choice, but that important noise is.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Not caring that he is a Nazi is your choice.
- 3:57Speaker 2: But if you support him and promote him, don't ever
- 3:59Speaker 2: lecture anybody about the moral high ground again, because you're
- 4:02Speaker 2: a blank blank blank blank. Yeah, the Nazi part should
- 4:06Speaker 2: have wiped him out. That's what today's Democratic Party has become.
- 4:10Speaker 2: The Nazi tattoo didn't wipe him out. And again it's
- 4:14Speaker 2: not a little Nazi tattoo on its arm. It's an
- 4:16Speaker 2: SS death Camp tattoo about five inches in diameter right
- 4:23Speaker 2: in the middle of his chest. That didn't disqualify him.
- 4:25Speaker 2: But it's just the drip drip drip of scandals coming
- 4:29Speaker 2: out more and more. But these Democrats are crazy, you
- 4:33Speaker 2: know that Roe Kanna. He's like the Indian Adam Schiff,
- 4:36Speaker 2: I mean, just the crazy. Listen. I understand if you
- 4:40Speaker 2: got to support this guy. He's the nominee. So Bernie
- 4:42Speaker 2: Sanders supports him, Elizabeth Warren supports them. But they're fellow
- 4:46Speaker 2: New England, you know, politicians. But Conna, No, Conna's from California,
- 4:51Speaker 2: no reason he had to jump in there. He not
- 4:53Speaker 2: only supported him, he announced he's proudly supporting him. Proudly
- 4:58Speaker 2: supporting a Nazi, a actual Nazi who has posted the
- 5:03Speaker 2: worst evil things online, who's masturbating in porta parties, who's
- 5:07Speaker 2: sexting and texting, he proudly supports him. It's a little crazy,
- 5:13Speaker 2: all right. We're hearing that Josh Shapiro, governor Pennsylvania's a
- 5:16Speaker 2: pretty good guy, pretty common sense, reasonable Democrat. A lot
- 5:20Speaker 2: of people think all this craziness will die down by
- 5:23Speaker 2: the time twenty twenty eight rolls around, and that they'll
- 5:26Speaker 2: be looking for a common sense Bill Clinton type of
- 5:29Speaker 2: a Democrat and that Josh Shapiro could be high on
- 5:31Speaker 2: that list. But apparently, and he's kind of, you know,
- 5:36Speaker 2: quietly making moves for twenty twenty eight. But apparently he's
- 5:39Speaker 2: been told by Democratic leaders, real party leaders, you're never
- 5:45Speaker 2: going to get elected because you're Jewish. It can't happen.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Now that's quite a bigoted, ugly thing to say, but
- 5:51Speaker 2: that's the Democrats and apparently they've been telling them that privately.
- 5:56Speaker 2: So in Los Angeles where you got this kooky left
- 6:00Speaker 2: wing horrible mayor who's helped destroy Los Angeles. It's an
- 6:04Speaker 2: absolute disaster zone. But it's democratic stuff. So you know,
- 6:10Speaker 2: she's fill the front runner everything, but Spencer Pratt comes along,
- 6:14Speaker 2: brilliant social media. Now there's public polls that show one
- 6:19Speaker 2: thing or another, but don't go buy those public poles.
- 6:21Speaker 2: The real polls, the serious, behind the scenes internal polls
- 6:24Speaker 2: McLaughlin and other show Pratt has now taken the lead,
- 6:29Speaker 2: only by a point or two, but he's taken the lead.
- 6:32Speaker 2: It's razor thin. The primary is tomorrow. A close third
- 6:38Speaker 2: place is the socialist nit Ya Rama. That's la all right,
- 6:45Speaker 2: that's what happens. Now, the World Cup is coming and
- 6:51Speaker 2: if you look online, the cheapest ticket he gets like
- 6:53Speaker 2: forty five hundred bucks. I mean, it's absolutely ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Prices are through the roof for the World Cup. However,
- 7:03Speaker 2: I don't know this is going to hold up. You
- 7:05Speaker 2: know a lot of people love soccer, well, not a
- 7:08Speaker 2: lot of people plenty of people love soccer. But if
- 7:11Speaker 2: you'll notice, it's mostly immigrants, people from other countries because
- 7:14Speaker 2: they grew up with soccer. It's not an American thing. Soccer.
- 7:18Speaker 2: I know kids are now playing it in school, but
- 7:20Speaker 2: it's not in America. It's not football. It's not the NFL,
- 7:23Speaker 2: it's not the Knicks, it's not the Yankees, it's not
- 7:26Speaker 2: mainstream is popular. So if I'm looking at this survey
- 7:32Speaker 2: for the World Cup, fifty four percent of New York
- 7:35Speaker 2: has no interest. Fifty four the majority of New Yorkers
- 7:38Speaker 2: have no interest in the World Cup. It's mostly and
- 7:42Speaker 2: you see all these people spending a ton of money
- 7:44Speaker 2: for the tickets, the hotels, but these are mostly foreign people.
- 7:47Speaker 2: The World Cup is like the Olympics, wherever it is
- 7:50Speaker 2: big money. People from all over the world show up.
- 7:52Speaker 2: So you'll get that, and that's good. They'll come to
- 7:54Speaker 2: New York and throw a lot of cash around, but
- 7:58Speaker 2: they may not get their ratings. They think they're gonna
- 8:00Speaker 2: at the mint, the viewership they think they're going to get. Now,
- 8:02Speaker 2: one thing that one group that is thrilled about this
- 8:06Speaker 2: the hooker industry. The escorts say demand has surged through
- 8:11Speaker 2: the roof that they're already being booked for World Cup days.
- 8:17Speaker 2: These big high rollers are coming from all over the place.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Many of the escorts are going to be charging ten
- 8:23Speaker 2: thousand a day because there's such demand for the top
- 8:26Speaker 2: escorts ten thousand a day. Some say, many of these
- 8:33Speaker 2: foreign chics and whatever, these foreign high rollers that are
- 8:39Speaker 2: coming in, they not only are hiring them, they want
- 8:42Speaker 2: what's called full kink, full kink centered services. What is
- 8:47Speaker 2: that exactly? Hey, don't ask, don't ask ten thousand a
- 8:55Speaker 2: day New Jersey based escort. So she's already pocketed several
- 9:01Speaker 2: three thousand dollars deposits. You got to give a deposit
- 9:04Speaker 2: for this from soccer fans. June is filling up quickly.
- 9:08Speaker 2: It's gonna be a very, very very busy month. He
- 9:12Speaker 2: watched at ABC Sunday Show. I'm the only one that
- 9:14Speaker 2: still watches it. But they got this panel of Trump
- 9:19Speaker 2: Arrangement syndrome characters, Donna Brazil, Chris Christie, and they say
- 9:25Speaker 2: the craziest things. You know, they try to act like
- 9:27Speaker 2: they're not total hypocrites, but they look ridiculous. So they're
- 9:32Speaker 2: asking Christy about Donald Trump's planning these massive fourth of
- 9:36Speaker 2: July parties celebrations for Washington for the two hundred and
- 9:40Speaker 2: fiftieth anniversary, and Christy goes to this whole nonsense about
- 9:44Speaker 2: that that's done. No, he should not be doing that.
- 9:47Speaker 2: He said, every town is having a Fourth of July celebration,
- 9:51Speaker 2: every town. There's no reason for it to be in Washington. Well,
- 9:53Speaker 2: that's insane. Every town also has Fourth of July fireworks.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Every town, every small town, every suburb, they all get
- 10:01Speaker 2: their Fourth of July fireworks. That doesn't mean you don't
- 10:03Speaker 2: do them in Washington. It's a big event every year,
- 10:07Speaker 2: the Washington d C. Fire So, of course it's Washington,
- 10:09Speaker 2: d C. The nation's capital. Of course you have to
- 10:12Speaker 2: have a two hundred and fiftieth birthday celebration. So then
- 10:16Speaker 2: yesterday the other panel was down in Brazil. They're talking
- 10:19Speaker 2: about Joe Biden, who looks absolutely ridiculous with her crazy, lying, rotten,
- 10:27Speaker 2: lying comments about it. She's got a book out, she's
- 10:30Speaker 2: trying to promote the book, so that's why she's out
- 10:33Speaker 2: there all of a sudden. What'd you think when you
- 10:35Speaker 2: saw the debate and he didn't know what he was saying,
- 10:36Speaker 2: and he was sounded like a frozen vegetable and she's said, oh,
- 10:40Speaker 2: I thought he was having and this is it.
- 10:41Speaker 3: I wasn't horrified. I was frightened because I had never
- 10:46Speaker 3: ever seen Joe like that before or since, never since, yes,
- 10:54Speaker 3: or he's never seen never now, this.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Is, of course, is a total lie. Anybody was around him.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I tell you he was like that every day and
- 11:02Speaker 2: there were many days where he was much worse. She
- 11:04Speaker 2: was married to him, So if everybody else saw it
- 11:07Speaker 2: behind the scenes, obviously she saw. So she's just out
- 11:09Speaker 2: and outline. So on the Sunday Show, they asked Donna
- 11:12Speaker 2: Brazil what about that. She said, quote, I don't want
- 11:16Speaker 2: to talk about Jill Biden right now. This is a
- 11:20Speaker 2: Donna Brazil, A nice woman, but a big mouth, a blabbermouth,
- 11:23Speaker 2: talk about anything. Suddenly she didn't. She said, I do
- 11:27Speaker 2: not want to talk about Jill Biden right now. She said,
- 11:30Speaker 2: Donna Brazil will not focus on the past. Donna Brazil
- 11:34Speaker 2: wants to focus on the future. Donna Brazil will never
- 11:37Speaker 2: focus on the past. Meantime, when they ask her a
- 11:39Speaker 2: Trump question, she'll rattle off everything he ever did for
- 11:42Speaker 2: thirty years, everything in the past. Hey, the Knicks, When
- 11:46Speaker 2: is it Thursday night. Opening a game is Thursday. It's Wednesday. Oh,
- 11:50Speaker 2: Wednesday night the Knicks. Is it in New York? Yeah,
- 11:54Speaker 2: it's in the oh, San Antonio. See how much I followed.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I'm right on top of everything. So San Antonio. And
- 12:01Speaker 2: then the next week it comes to New York. Next
- 12:04Speaker 2: week it comes to New York. There'll be games in
- 12:06Speaker 2: New York. Mayor Mom Donnie says he'll be there. Can't
- 12:09Speaker 2: go to the Israel Day Parade, of course, if you're
- 12:12Speaker 2: such an anti Semit. But he will go. He he
- 12:16Speaker 2: has been the Knicks games. President Trump said he'll fly
- 12:19Speaker 2: in for it. Most likely he'll be in the private
- 12:22Speaker 2: suite there, but probably next to Mom Donnie and Kathy Hoakle,
- 12:28Speaker 2: of course, ridiculously tried to claim Trump is not a
- 12:31Speaker 2: Knicks fan, that he's just saying that. Well, thousands of
- 12:35Speaker 2: pictures of him sitting at Knicks games are coming up.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Videos are coming up. In fact, there's one you can
- 12:40Speaker 2: see up on my Twitter. I forgot about this. Remember
- 12:42Speaker 2: in one game years ago, Charles Oakley is running and
- 12:46Speaker 2: he accidentally falls into the seats and falls on top
- 12:49Speaker 2: of Donald Trumps. It was a classic moment. Then they
- 12:52Speaker 2: interview him afterwards. So he's always been around the Knicks
- 12:56Speaker 2: Hocal looking absolutely ridiculous. Hey, do you ever put those
- 13:00Speaker 2: air tags in your suitcase or you know, it's a
- 13:03Speaker 2: little disc, it's like the size of a quarter. Apple
- 13:07Speaker 2: makes them. It's an air tag. It's got a GPS
- 13:10Speaker 2: in it. So let's say you put it in your suitcase.
- 13:13Speaker 2: On your iPhone, you can see where your suitcase is
- 13:15Speaker 2: at all times. So people are putting them in their
- 13:18Speaker 2: luggage now when they travel. So look at this guy.
- 13:22Speaker 2: He got in a big fight with Delta and they
- 13:26Speaker 2: tried to claim his suitcase was one place, but he
- 13:28Speaker 2: looked at the air tag and showed him where it
- 13:29Speaker 2: really was, and it turned out Delta was lying to him,
- 13:33Speaker 2: just out and out lying to him. So because he
- 13:37Speaker 2: had that air tag, he was able to find it.
- 13:39Speaker 2: And then there's other people have posting these things about.
- 13:43Speaker 2: In fact, one guy, they lost his luggage, so he's
- 13:46Speaker 2: watching it on the air tag. It went to five
- 13:47Speaker 2: different cities until he was able to tell the airline
- 13:51Speaker 2: where it was and they got it back from him.
- 13:52Speaker 2: But that air tag, it's they're about, I don't know,
- 13:54Speaker 2: thirty forty dollars, great, thing to have. Also, so you
- 14:00Speaker 2: don't trust your husband, you open up the trunk of
- 14:04Speaker 2: his car, you throw the air tag in there, or
- 14:06Speaker 2: you stick it under the seat or something, and that
- 14:08Speaker 2: way you can see where that car is at all
- 14:10Speaker 2: that kind of stuff. It sounded crazy, this air tag,
- 14:13Speaker 2: this little disc go why would they come out with that?
- 14:16Speaker 2: They sell millions of them, millions of them. There's so
- 14:20Speaker 2: many uses for it. You can put it in It's
- 14:21Speaker 2: a little thick, but you could. You could put it
- 14:24Speaker 2: in your wallet. If that way you'll always know where
- 14:25Speaker 2: it is. You can put in your purse, you'll always
- 14:27Speaker 2: know where it is. I think you ever go to
- 14:32Speaker 2: the coat room you're leaving the restaurant. I don't mean
- 14:35Speaker 2: to sound sexist, but a man reaches in his pocket,
- 14:39Speaker 2: here's my checkout, you know, my claim ticket for the
- 14:41Speaker 2: coat room. But a lot of times a woman will
- 14:44Speaker 2: be looking through that purse for forty minutes and can't
- 14:46Speaker 2: find that. So maybe that's what Apple should invent next
- 14:52Speaker 2: coat room claim checks that have air tags built into
- 14:55Speaker 2: them so they can find that ticket faster. Hey, you
- 15:00Speaker 2: know Bill Gates with that look, you know the sweater,
- 15:04Speaker 2: the rumpled look, all of that. It looks like, yeah,
- 15:07Speaker 2: that's Bill Gates. Well, it turns out this guy, a
- 15:10Speaker 2: lot of these guys are just secretly plotting. Everything's everything's
- 15:15Speaker 2: a plot, Everything's a scheme. So apparently that look was
- 15:18Speaker 2: designed by a team of consultants. People that used to
- 15:22Speaker 2: work there are revealing a team of consultants designed his look.
- 15:26Speaker 2: They had special customized mannequins where they tested out the outfits.
- 15:31Speaker 2: They were looking deliberately for the most boring outfits. He
- 15:35Speaker 2: thought originally that he should look like mister Rogers. That's
- 15:38Speaker 2: why the sweater. You never see him in a jacket
- 15:40Speaker 2: unless he has to, but in day to day left
- 15:42Speaker 2: always a sweater, a little rumpled, certain type of sweater, drab,
- 15:46Speaker 2: boring color. But apparently wanted to look like mister Rogers.
- 15:49Speaker 2: He felt that that would make him look kind and
- 15:52Speaker 2: approachable instead of a guy secretly trying to maneuver the
- 15:56Speaker 2: whole world all over the place. But Gates team toiled
- 15:59Speaker 2: away on the nerdy image, working with stylists and trying
- 16:03Speaker 2: out different outfits and went to great links to come
- 16:06Speaker 2: up with the exact tone and v neck sweaters and
- 16:09Speaker 2: button down shirts to make him look as friendly and
- 16:12Speaker 2: as kind as possible while he's secretly buying up our
- 16:15Speaker 2: food supply, screwing around with all kinds of germs and
- 16:20Speaker 2: viruses and all sorts of Anyway, we'll take some calls
- 16:23Speaker 2: next eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten
- 16:27Speaker 2: is the number eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 16:32Speaker 4: The Mark Simon Show on seventen WI.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to uh Norman
- 16:41Speaker 2: and Long Island, Norman. How you doing?
- 16:44Speaker 5: Yeah, Hi, Mark, how are you good? I have a
- 16:49Speaker 5: question for you. I really love everything that Trump does,
- 16:53Speaker 5: but I don't understand why he keeps saying he wants
- 16:56Speaker 5: to make a deal. He's not buying a hotel. We
- 16:59Speaker 5: didn't make a deal with the Japanese at the end
- 17:02Speaker 5: of World War Two.
- 17:03Speaker 2: We actually we did, Actually we did.
- 17:06Speaker 5: Just we ended the warm and that's it. Well, it's
- 17:11Speaker 5: not like you're buying a store or something with a deal.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Okay, Well that's the point. But a better way to
- 17:18Speaker 2: do it, I mean, we could just go in there,
- 17:19Speaker 2: wipe out the whole country. And you know, remember in
- 17:21Speaker 2: Japan you had to drop bombs on here a Seama,
- 17:24Speaker 2: kill millions of Ye, this is a better way to
- 17:27Speaker 2: do it in this situation, and he's a deal maker.
- 17:30Speaker 2: This is what he does best. Let's go to Mike
- 17:32Speaker 2: in Florida. Mike, how you doing, Good morning?
- 17:35Speaker 1: Mark, Yes, Mike, I think Republican experts can learn from
- 17:39Speaker 1: the Democrat experts like Donna Brazil. Just don't answer, just
- 17:44Speaker 1: keep you know, change the conversation, move on, Mickey. Cheryl
- 17:47Speaker 1: did that in her press conference. You know, if I
- 17:50Speaker 1: was a Republican on that panel, they would have done
- 17:52Speaker 1: a ten minute dissertation about how perception is a matter
- 17:56Speaker 1: of opinion and then they would sit there and suck
- 17:58Speaker 1: their thumb.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Well, but wait a minute. You remember these are all
- 18:02Speaker 2: left wing fake news shows. So if the Democrat doesn't answer,
- 18:05Speaker 2: the host will say okay, thank you and move to
- 18:07Speaker 2: the next question. If they're apart, they will bang on
- 18:11Speaker 2: their head for ten minutes to get into the answers. So,
- 18:14Speaker 2: all right, thanks for colling. Let's go to uh Paul
- 18:17Speaker 2: and Whitestone. Paul, how you doing?
- 18:19Speaker 6: All right?
- 18:20Speaker 5: Mark?
- 18:20Speaker 7: They doing correctly stated that Cotch tried to close the
- 18:23Speaker 7: gay bath houses. Well, the Jim Howls Democratic Club is
- 18:27Speaker 7: quoted in the post story. Jim Howls himself and his
- 18:30Speaker 7: partner Alan Roscoff, who was quoted in the story, actively
- 18:34Speaker 7: opposed the closing of the gay bath houses. So what
- 18:37Speaker 7: they're doing now blaming Kotch is classic projection. It's what
- 18:42Speaker 7: they did at the time.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Yeah, now, why are you such an expert in gay
- 18:45Speaker 2: bath houses?
- 18:48Speaker 7: Good question. I remember back in the day when you know,
- 18:52Speaker 7: it was infuriating. Now we're trying to fight this the
- 18:55Speaker 7: spread of age, and the gay community was against it.
- 19:00Speaker 7: A member of the gay community, but I wanted it
- 19:02Speaker 7: to end, and I'm sorry so many people died and
- 19:05Speaker 7: were harmed by it.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good point. If you just tuned in,
- 19:08Speaker 2: thanks for calling. If you just tuned in, uh Mondani
- 19:11Speaker 2: and another crazy left We just want to take conscious
- 19:13Speaker 2: name off the bridge, claiming he mishandled the AIDS crisis,
- 19:16Speaker 2: which he didn't. I mean, it wasn't the best response immediately,
- 19:21Speaker 2: but this is the same thing with the pandemic this time.
- 19:24Speaker 2: The government never knows what it's doing immediately. Let's go
- 19:28Speaker 2: to Joe and Elmwood. Joe, how you doing, Good morning.
- 19:31Speaker 7: Market morning bets and I have the news for mixture.
- 19:34Speaker 7: The sound you hear is the job sucking out of
- 19:37Speaker 7: New Jersey.
- 19:38Speaker 5: We lost another company, Silk Milk, we lost the Budweiser,
- 19:42Speaker 5: we lost Exxon should yeah, yeah, I don't know so
- 19:48Speaker 5: much money.
- 19:53Speaker 7: I'm not a member of the gay community.
- 19:56Speaker 2: You can admit it. Don't worry. No, I'm kidding.
- 20:00Speaker 7: No.
- 20:00Speaker 2: I think I accidentally hit two lines and we got
- 20:02Speaker 2: two lines open. Sorry about that shoe. Now you got
- 20:05Speaker 2: a good point. Yeah, costing a lot of jobs New Jersey.
- 20:08Speaker 7: Let me hear the end of the phone call.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Is there you go.
- 20:14Speaker 4: Too?
- 20:15Speaker 2: It's too complicated to explain. We got this digital phone
- 20:18Speaker 2: system and if you hit the wrong thing, you lock
- 20:21Speaker 2: in a line. So apparently I locked in the other
- 20:23Speaker 2: call and couldn't get rid of them. Let's go to
- 20:25Speaker 2: Pat in Scarsdale. Pat, how you.
- 20:27Speaker 8: Doing very well?
- 20:29Speaker 7: Mark?
- 20:29Speaker 8: How about yourself?
- 20:30Speaker 2: Good?
- 20:31Speaker 8: I know you touched on Joe Biden, but I just
- 20:33Speaker 8: wanted to bring up Riada Braver the interview. You know,
- 20:36Speaker 8: she's a confirmed liberal, and the follow up question. Right
- 20:40Speaker 8: after the debate, she staged a rally and she was saying, Joe,
- 20:45Speaker 8: you answered all of the questions, and he's standing there
- 20:48Speaker 8: like completely in a fog, and then she started this
- 20:52Speaker 8: chant and old Trump did was live.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Yeah, no, no, but you got to remember it's CBS
- 20:57Speaker 2: and it's fake news. That's why they're cleaning house over there.
- 21:00Speaker 2: When Jill Biden said I never saw him like that before,
- 21:03Speaker 2: any normal person would say, well, wait a minute, we
- 21:05Speaker 2: saw ten thousand clips of him like that, I can
- 21:07Speaker 2: say that, and then a normal interviewer, So you thought
- 21:09Speaker 2: he was having a struggle, why did you take him
- 21:11Speaker 2: from there to the waffle house to a party? But again,
- 21:14Speaker 2: it's CBS, it's fake news. Sixteen minutes anything CBS, fake news.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Republican million follow up questions. Democrat no follow up questions.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Let's go to Vincent and Brooklyn. Vincent, how you doing.
- 21:27Speaker 9: Good morning Mark, Good morning Mara Mark. I shouldn't be
- 21:31Speaker 9: surprised by the makeup of the modern Democrat Party, But
- 21:36Speaker 9: the Democrats in New York City and even elsewhere use
- 21:39Speaker 9: such derogatory terms to describe their own supporters, like Mandami
- 21:46Speaker 9: and these other nutjobs call gay people queiz. The gay
- 21:52Speaker 9: community and the lesbian community were fighting for the longest
- 21:55Speaker 9: time to stop people from using the derogatory terms like that,
- 22:02Speaker 9: and yet my Mandami and all these jerks us use
- 22:06Speaker 9: this language. Mandami recently hired the guy's African American, but
- 22:12Speaker 9: he's uh, I don't know what he was hired for,
- 22:15Speaker 9: but he like a million dollars or half a million
- 22:17Speaker 9: dollar job. But the guy refers to he says, oh,
- 22:21Speaker 9: we gotta fight against No, we gotta have to fight
- 22:24Speaker 9: for black queer liberation. Who speaks like that? No use
- 22:29Speaker 9: such derogatory.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Terms Democrats now, l G B T q X. Can
- 22:34Speaker 2: you tell us what the q's. Oh, that's for queer,
- 22:36Speaker 2: what's the T for?
- 22:39Speaker 9: I don't know. The Postmark on Saturday did a whole
- 22:43Speaker 9: expose on one of these nut jobs that Mandami and
- 22:47Speaker 9: AOC is back. And her name is Dotti Alitzia ave
- 22:51Speaker 9: La Chevalier and some of the things she is. She
- 22:55Speaker 9: says like, I'm looking at the paper right now and
- 22:57Speaker 9: it says I won't say it. It says I have
- 23:00Speaker 9: no one wants to wear f Kamala Harris. And then
- 23:04Speaker 9: she talks about our interracial marriages and she says, ugly
- 23:10Speaker 9: about women who marry black men, Ugly colonize of women
- 23:14Speaker 9: who'll I.
- 23:14Speaker 6: Mean these people around today's demograph, the followers, Today's Democrat, Vincent,
- 23:19Speaker 6: great call, thanks for colling.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Imagine if JFK came back and looked at this, He'd say,
- 23:23Speaker 2: what the hell did you do with my party? Hey,
- 23:26Speaker 2: when we come back, the great food writer real estate
- 23:29Speaker 2: expert Steve Cuzo will be with us. Now. The hottest
- 23:32Speaker 2: thing food wise, people wait in line for three hours
- 23:35Speaker 2: for this is dot cake. It's also the stupidest fat
- 23:39Speaker 2: ever on Instagram. But we'll get to that and a
- 23:40Speaker 2: whole lot more house New York doing real estate, all
- 23:43Speaker 2: that coming up on seven to ten WORE. If you're
- 23:47Speaker 2: listening to Mark on the iHeartRadio app, save time and
- 23:50Speaker 2: dap the breset button.
- 23:51Speaker 6: Now now back to the Mark Simone Show on wor.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Well. Steve Cuzo is the Great York Post columnist nobody
- 24:01Speaker 2: better on real estate, restaurants, on New York, on What's
- 24:04Speaker 2: going on. All of his columns are up on the
- 24:06Speaker 2: New York Post website. Stevequzo, How you doing.
- 24:10Speaker 6: Hey, good morning, I'm great, Thanks, welcome back your way.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, first thing I want to talk about the
- 24:16Speaker 2: biggest phenomenon in food. The biggest Instagram hottest thing is
- 24:20Speaker 2: dot cake, which is basically cake and a little cup
- 24:24Speaker 2: covered with sprinkles, but they're actually dots and somehow they
- 24:27Speaker 2: are like embedded in there so that don't come out.
- 24:29Speaker 2: People wait in line. Look at Butterfield's Market for three hours.
- 24:33Speaker 2: You actually did it? How what does it taste like?
- 24:38Speaker 6: Tastes like well, as the kids would say, I'm not
- 24:42Speaker 6: a kid anymore.
- 24:43Speaker 4: It tastes like ass. All right, that's not a compliment.
- 24:47Speaker 6: That's not a compliment in any way says something tastes
- 24:50Speaker 6: like ass. But anyway, So yeah, at butterfield Market, really
- 24:55Speaker 6: good store. I shopping them all the time, two of
- 24:57Speaker 6: them on the Upper east Side. They're the only ones.
- 25:00Speaker 6: I now have these dot cakes that are made in
- 25:02Speaker 6: a bakery and Roslyn, Long Islands, and it became a
- 25:08Speaker 6: viral thing, you know, some bunch of influencers who claim
- 25:11Speaker 6: to have millions of followers.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Maybe they do, maybe they don't.
- 25:15Speaker 6: Said one of them said that it was the best
- 25:18Speaker 6: thing she's ever had in her entire life, which if true.
- 25:21Speaker 4: I pity her. I don't know what you've been eating.
- 25:25Speaker 6: So, as I wrote, the sludgy confections are unspeakably awful.
- 25:31Speaker 4: You know, the top with the little tiny non perile sprinkles,
- 25:37Speaker 4: it looks cute.
- 25:38Speaker 6: You know, they're rainbow colors and it's what's beneath that
- 25:43Speaker 6: that is dreadful.
- 25:45Speaker 4: So there's the thin layer of icing made.
- 25:47Speaker 6: From palm oil and anything hardly anything natural, and then
- 25:52Speaker 6: below that is the cake itself.
- 25:53Speaker 4: The cake itself tastes exactly like so for example, the
- 25:58Speaker 4: white one.
- 25:59Speaker 6: Which I tried, uh, which they don't call vanilla because
- 26:03Speaker 6: it has no vanilla. If you look at the list
- 26:05Speaker 6: of ingredients, you say, wait a minute, what's what planet
- 26:09Speaker 6: are we on here? What laboratory? What science fiction nightmare.
- 26:14Speaker 4: Did these come from? And I'll give you a few examples.
- 26:18Speaker 6: I'm not going to get this right because they're impossible
- 26:20Speaker 6: to pronounce, but something sodiums silly colluminate, mono calcium.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Phosphate, sort the tan monosteroid.
- 26:31Speaker 6: And here's my favorite terror tetra sodium prothose fate, oh.
- 26:39Speaker 2: My favorite, my favorite food.
- 26:40Speaker 6: That word is the fact that word is so long
- 26:43Speaker 6: that we had a problem fitting in our computer system
- 26:46Speaker 6: almost along the line.
- 26:48Speaker 4: So and that's not all. There's more stuff. So the
- 26:51Speaker 4: result is that you know, and of.
- 26:53Speaker 6: Course there's some basic flowering age or uh, egg white.
- 26:59Speaker 6: If you're going to any like convenience store of bodega,
- 27:02Speaker 6: your corner.
- 27:03Speaker 4: Candy store and you look at the you know, they're
- 27:06Speaker 4: the stand.
- 27:06Speaker 6: In the front with the cheap sweet treats, you know,
- 27:10Speaker 6: funny bones and posts, cupcakes and you know, banan of fingers,
- 27:17Speaker 6: all these different things, and they're in these cellophane wrappers. Uh,
- 27:23Speaker 6: this is what the dot cakes taste like and what
- 27:27Speaker 6: they feel like on the tongue. They're spongy, they're they're
- 27:31Speaker 6: not pleasant. They're dry, and that's because they're made out
- 27:37Speaker 6: of mainly chemical ingredients, stabilizers whatnot and to bind the
- 27:44Speaker 6: thing together, and they are it's absolutely awful. And yeah,
- 27:48Speaker 6: you've got people standing online. I waited online.
- 27:53Speaker 4: An hour basically at the Madison and Avenue.
- 27:56Speaker 6: On eighty fifth streets and to get they'll only sell
- 27:59Speaker 6: you two at a time, which makes sense. They get
- 28:03Speaker 6: I think six hundred on Wednesday and six hundred more
- 28:07Speaker 6: on Saturday.
- 28:08Speaker 4: And obviously they.
- 28:09Speaker 6: Don't excuse me, so they'll tell they don't want people
- 28:13Speaker 6: hoarding them the one I want to ward them. And
- 28:17Speaker 6: so it takes an hour from this line to you know,
- 28:20Speaker 6: for you to get to the front.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Uh.
- 28:22Speaker 6: And uh, you know, the people I spoke to a
- 28:26Speaker 6: lot of the people I spoke to online hadn't tried
- 28:28Speaker 6: them yet, but they were excited because they saw these
- 28:31Speaker 6: viral TikTok posting Instagram, especially TikTok, which is scary to
- 28:37Speaker 6: think about it, but TikTok, which is still owned by
- 28:40Speaker 6: a Chinese algorithm uh is a main engine.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Of our current economy, believe it or not. So they
- 28:49Speaker 4: hadn't tasted them.
- 28:50Speaker 6: They were a little skeptical, but you know, nobody wants,
- 28:53Speaker 6: you know, what is the fomo ear missing out? They
- 28:55Speaker 6: don't want to the only ones among their friends who
- 28:58Speaker 6: hadn't tried it, so they later an hour and then
- 29:00Speaker 6: when they got them. I talked to several people and
- 29:03Speaker 6: they had basically the same reaction that I did, like, well,
- 29:07Speaker 6: you know they're okay. I mean, nobody wanted to say
- 29:09Speaker 6: I got suckered. They're a hundred dollars each. By the way,
- 29:13Speaker 6: these little eight ounce cups.
- 29:14Speaker 4: Are eleven dollars each.
- 29:16Speaker 6: You go into the bodega or the grocery store and
- 29:19Speaker 6: you get one of these chocolate covered tweets like snowballs
- 29:25Speaker 6: or bunnybones whatever, they're three dollars.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Hey, So if I went over there to Morton Williams
- 29:33Speaker 2: and bought you know, just a vanilla cake, and I
- 29:35Speaker 2: bought a bag of sprinkles and packed it down on top.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Wouldn't I have the same thing.
- 29:40Speaker 4: It would be much.
- 29:41Speaker 6: Better if you got real you know, vanilla keg or
- 29:44Speaker 6: vanilla ice cream, excuse me, and you put the sprinkled
- 29:48Speaker 6: Montreal sprinkles on top.
- 29:51Speaker 4: Of course it would be better.
- 29:52Speaker 6: And in fact, you know, it's interesting because Butterfield Market,
- 29:57Speaker 6: in their regular bakery section, they a product.
- 30:00Speaker 4: I don't know what it's called, but I almost.
- 30:03Speaker 6: Bought one by mistake, thinking that this was the dock Pikes,
- 30:07Speaker 6: a cake that looks a lot like a dot cake,
- 30:10Speaker 6: except that dot cakes around and these are rectangular, and
- 30:14Speaker 6: I'm sure that they would have been ten times better
- 30:17Speaker 6: had I bought one.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Yeah, Butterfield is one of the finest sup markets. It
- 30:20Speaker 2: is probably the finest super market New York, run by
- 30:22Speaker 2: a really nice family, Joelle and her film. Anything in
- 30:25Speaker 2: their bakery is going to be better than that dot cake,
- 30:28Speaker 2: so exactly.
- 30:29Speaker 6: And they have an exclusive arrangement with this bakery and Maslin,
- 30:33Speaker 6: which is called Dot Cakes with Dog Dot Cakes to
- 30:38Speaker 6: sell these things in Manhattan. And I don't know how
- 30:41Speaker 6: or why it came about that they got that kind
- 30:44Speaker 6: of that kind of exclusive arrangement. And I walked by
- 30:48Speaker 6: the one yesterday on Madison Navy. They don't have the
- 30:51Speaker 6: dot cakes on Sunday, but there's excuse me, it's a
- 30:55Speaker 6: very popular story.
- 30:56Speaker 4: There was a long line on the sidewalk.
- 30:58Speaker 6: For their frozen yogurt and things like that, which they
- 31:01Speaker 6: sell to a window. A great store, awful product, and
- 31:08Speaker 6: I don't know what anybody's thinking anymore.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Yeah, Hey, you also wrote a comms. We're talking to
- 31:14Speaker 2: Steve Cuzo, the Great New York Post Commas. Madison Avenue
- 31:18Speaker 2: fifty to fifty. It used to be the Sony Building
- 31:19Speaker 2: and the Sony Store was the whole first floor. I
- 31:22Speaker 2: love that. Now it's like a very expensive bars restaurant.
- 31:25Speaker 2: And did you say McLaren is opening a dealership in there?
- 31:29Speaker 4: Yeah, in Fax.
- 31:30Speaker 6: Since I wrote that last week, I was told just
- 31:32Speaker 6: this morning that they had actually signed the least but
- 31:36Speaker 6: it's probably true.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Excuse.
- 31:38Speaker 6: So the Formers Tony Building five poin fifteen Madison, which
- 31:42Speaker 6: was redesigned by the owner's company.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Called ole On America.
- 31:48Speaker 6: So it's one hund filled with offices great companies like
- 31:52Speaker 6: Chubb and Hedge Funds and all that at very high rents.
- 31:56Speaker 6: And at the north end there is the restaurant complex,
- 32:01Speaker 6: Simon Kim's hospitality company.
- 32:04Speaker 4: It's a complex of.
- 32:06Speaker 6: The Korean barbecue restaurants and three bars, and there's a
- 32:13Speaker 6: third element coming in the fall, a Japanese sushi bar
- 32:20Speaker 6: run by a three micheline star chef. The south end
- 32:23Speaker 6: has been vacant, and Simon Kim signed the leads for
- 32:26Speaker 6: the restaurants space like four years ago, but it took
- 32:29Speaker 6: the build out took forever, all kinds of issues, Landmarks,
- 32:33Speaker 6: Buildings Department, et cetera. But the similar sized space at
- 32:39Speaker 6: the south end of the building behind those tall windows
- 32:42Speaker 6: has been empty ever since. The temporary art exhibition now
- 32:46Speaker 6: from the Museum of the City of New York, I believe.
- 32:49Speaker 6: But they've signed the lease, or they're very close to
- 32:51Speaker 6: signing the lease with McLaren Automotive, which is the that's
- 32:55Speaker 6: the Street Clark division of McLaren, the legendary race car
- 33:02Speaker 6: company British, which was named for founder Bruce McLaren, who
- 33:08Speaker 6: tragically perished in a driving accident way back when at
- 33:13Speaker 6: age twenty eight. And anyway, this will be a terrific
- 33:17Speaker 6: addition to the Madison Avenue.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Will but only twelve guys driving mcclarence, the guy on
- 33:23Speaker 2: Billions who drives them.
- 33:24Speaker 6: Yeah, but you can go yet, of course you're right,
- 33:26Speaker 6: but you can go in and look at them. The
- 33:30Speaker 6: luxury image, you know, fits perfectly with Madison Avenue in
- 33:35Speaker 6: the forties and East forties, fifties and sixties, the city's premiere,
- 33:41Speaker 6: you know, high end shopping district.
- 33:43Speaker 4: Notwithstanding soho and you know Ferrari, there's a train.
- 33:48Speaker 6: Ferrari is moving into a much larger space on Park
- 33:52Speaker 6: Avenue at the five twenty Park Avenue. It's been for
- 33:58Speaker 6: years in a much smaller space with a low ceiling
- 34:01Speaker 6: across the avenue, and now they're moving into a very
- 34:04Speaker 6: large space.
- 34:05Speaker 4: That will Uh, it's going to be a hit people.
- 34:08Speaker 4: You're not going to buy the Frari. You're just going
- 34:09Speaker 4: to go in and look at them.
- 34:10Speaker 2: So Queen, can we take it? Can we take it?
- 34:12Speaker 4: From?
- 34:12Speaker 7: All?
- 34:13Speaker 6: This in New York is not dying, not quite, not
- 34:17Speaker 6: quite yet, anything but mark anything.
- 34:20Speaker 2: But yeah, well you got them Claren dealer, a Ferrari
- 34:23Speaker 2: dealer down the block. You got expensive restaurant.
- 34:26Speaker 6: Austin Martin, Aiston Martin too. Really just around the corner. Yeah,
- 34:30Speaker 6: Auson Martin has a huge showroom on I think it's
- 34:33Speaker 6: Park and fifty seven.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Well, these are pretty smart people. They wouldn't be opening
- 34:37Speaker 2: these things here if they didn't think New York had
- 34:39Speaker 2: a big future and that things were going well here
- 34:41Speaker 2: despite got it, despite our politicians. Well, great stuff. Everybody
- 34:45Speaker 2: read Steve Cuzo's columns in the New York Post. If
- 34:48Speaker 2: you go to the website, all of his columns are
- 34:50Speaker 2: up there. Just go to the opinion section, look up
- 34:52Speaker 2: Steve Cuzo. You'll find his columns there. Great stuff. And
- 34:56Speaker 2: Steve Cuze thanks for being with us.
- 34:59Speaker 4: Thank you, Thanks again.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Mark, all right, take care, Hey, don't forget coming up
- 35:03Speaker 2: at noon, Buck and Clay. And you know that Curtis
- 35:07Speaker 2: Sliwa is on every morning here. It's curtisiwa Larry Menti
- 35:11Speaker 2: every morning six to ten on seven ten WR.
- 35:16Speaker 6: It's more mister New York on seven ten WR.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Well, Delady Hall. That's that detention facility Ice Newark, New
- 35:28Speaker 2: Jersey's still a mess there, caused by Mikey Cheryl and
- 35:31Speaker 2: the Democrats. There were some protests. They went and weaponized it.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Gin did up and now antifas in their violent paid agitators.
- 35:39Speaker 2: They've discovered that they have bases with storage equipment, with
- 35:43Speaker 2: anti riot equipment. These are all paid professional protesters. It's
- 35:46Speaker 2: an absolute mess, this anti ICE stuff. You know, if
- 35:49Speaker 2: you look at the track record of ICE, you can
- 35:52Speaker 2: find some controversial arrests or some bad moments. You can
- 35:55Speaker 2: name five or six of them, but they've now arrested
- 35:58Speaker 2: about seven hundred thousand people. If you check their track record,
- 36:03Speaker 2: successful peaceful arrests all the time. The bad incidents are
- 36:07Speaker 2: like zero point zero zero zero one percent. Hard to
- 36:11Speaker 2: beat that record. Well, I'll be back tomorrow ten to noon.
- 36:15Speaker 2: I'll talk to you then, have a great day seven
- 36:18Speaker 2: to ten. WR
