Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: It's media podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only
- 0:12Speaker 1: game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer
- 0:16Speaker 1: new Arth, and today we're joined by Jannis Poutellis, Brody Henderson,
- 0:20Speaker 1: Randall Williams, Hillary byrne Alyssa Smith, and Colin Fapma. Colin,
- 0:26Speaker 1: this is your first time on the show. Tell folks
- 0:28Speaker 1: what you do here at Meat Eater.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm calling.
- 0:31Speaker 3: I'm on the merchandising team, so I focus primarily on
- 0:36Speaker 3: strategy and day to day efforts for the med Eater store,
- 0:39Speaker 3: and then collaborate with our partners on special and unique products.
- 0:43Speaker 1: In one of our only Iwegians here at Meat Eater.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Do you know any other Iwegians at work here?
- 0:48Speaker 2: What the hell is an iwe Yeah?
- 0:50Speaker 1: I want to explain what an Nowegian is.
- 0:53Speaker 4: I mean, if you're from Iowa, you're important, so that's
- 0:55Speaker 4: what Nightwegien.
- 0:56Speaker 5: Is now and you shoot bigger bucks.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Iwegian would be a derogatory term that if you're from
- 1:00Speaker 1: South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, you'd refer to someone they would
- 1:06Speaker 1: call themselves an Iowan, right, we call them Awegians.
- 1:09Speaker 5: How do I go my whole life without hearing stuff
- 1:11Speaker 5: like that.
- 1:12Speaker 2: And what what.
- 1:14Speaker 6: I mean is there?
- 1:15Speaker 2: Is it come from anything like the words put together
- 1:19Speaker 2: to make it derogatory. No, it's just colin.
- 1:21Speaker 1: If I said Iwegian fish finder, do you know what
- 1:24Speaker 1: that means?
- 1:25Speaker 7: No?
- 1:25Speaker 6: Clube?
- 1:26Speaker 1: Okay, South Dakota we would because you guys like to
- 1:28Speaker 1: come fish our waters a lot. We have significantly better
- 1:31Speaker 1: Walleye waters and Dakota. And and if you saw somebody
- 1:36Speaker 1: with binoculars, that's called an Iwegian fish finder. They see
- 1:39Speaker 1: somebody catch a fish, pull up their binos. This isn't
- 1:42Speaker 1: real obviously right, Probably somebody saw this happen once and
- 1:45Speaker 1: from therefoth it was the Iwegian fish finder. But binoculars
- 1:49Speaker 1: in a boat so you can see their color, see
- 1:51Speaker 1: what depth they're at. Things like that are binoculars.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Man, I always carry binoculars in the boat.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Really do you use them for that reason?
- 1:58Speaker 6: No?
- 1:59Speaker 1: Okay, well what are you doing them?
- 2:00Speaker 8: Then?
- 2:00Speaker 5: Whatever you can see? You never know.
- 2:02Speaker 2: We carry him in North Carolina to scan the horizon
- 2:05Speaker 2: for birds.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Well, now you know, I weegan fish fine, I was
- 2:08Speaker 1: just looking at whales through mind.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I feel like this is the first time meter trivia
- 2:12Speaker 2: that you're not wearing a hat. You wear a hat
- 2:14Speaker 2: so often that we don't, it's surprising. Is there a
- 2:18Speaker 2: reason for that?
- 2:19Speaker 6: Today?
- 2:20Speaker 5: Recently, I just got a haircut. I say, you're looking
- 2:23Speaker 5: for you. You get that beard trimmed when you got
- 2:27Speaker 5: a haircut, I always do.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I'm not very good at trimming my beard, so I
- 2:32Speaker 1: pay somebody who does a much better job than but
- 2:35Speaker 1: I'm capable. It looks like it.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I have no idea, and I want to know how
- 2:39Speaker 2: much does it cost to have someone else trim your beard.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I don't know. It's like it's like a tack on.
- 2:43Speaker 1: So I think if a haircut is like thirty bucks,
- 2:45Speaker 1: it's like another fifteen or twenty for a beard trim.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I don't remember for certain. I get my money's worth.
- 2:51Speaker 1: O Yannie. I'll go like a home ont without shaving,
- 2:53Speaker 1: and then let them just get in there and hack away.
- 2:56Speaker 1: This is a ten round quiz show with questions for
- 2:58Speaker 1: me Deater's four vertical which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and there is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five
- 3:04Speaker 1: hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing
- 3:09Speaker 1: and for the stat of the Week. This week, we're
- 3:10Speaker 1: looking at the history of the perfect game. There have
- 3:14Speaker 1: been three perfect games in Meat Eater Trivia. Those were
- 3:17Speaker 1: Brody in episode three oh five, Brody in episode three
- 3:21Speaker 1: point fifty five, and Steve in episode three ninety eight.
- 3:25Speaker 1: In twenty twenty two, on average, there was a perfect
- 3:28Speaker 1: game once every nineteen episodes. However, in twenty twenty three,
- 3:33Speaker 1: we've had thirty episodes without a perfect game. Yet there
- 3:36Speaker 1: have been some close calls. Five times this year a
- 3:39Speaker 1: player has ended with nine correct answers, but we're still
- 3:43Speaker 1: waiting for twenty twenty three's first perfect game.
- 3:47Speaker 2: So we've only had, uh, we've played less than sixty
- 3:50Speaker 2: Trivia games.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Total. Yeah, well we've we've done thirty this year. We
- 3:57Speaker 1: probably did twenty two.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Well, there's one perfect game every nineteen games.
- 4:02Speaker 1: It's a good question, Yanni. I feel like our numerical
- 4:05Speaker 1: thing is up close to seventy or something like that,
- 4:09Speaker 1: but I'm a little bit behind in stants, so I
- 4:12Speaker 1: don't know for certain, but I think we're around like
- 4:14Speaker 1: in sixty or seventy range for the amount of games
- 4:17Speaker 1: that we've done. Now here's our zero percenter question of
- 4:20Speaker 1: the Week, which tests how much knowledge players have retained
- 4:23Speaker 1: from previous games. This question was from episode four to eighteen.
- 4:27Speaker 1: The topic was hunting, and nobody got it right. Name
- 4:31Speaker 1: three of the four animals with the most entries in
- 4:34Speaker 1: the Boone and Crockett record book. Name three of the four.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Go ahead. If you think you know them, shout them out.
- 4:41Speaker 5: White tail, mule deer, elk, white tail pronghorn, horn, white tail, mule, deer, pronghorn.
- 4:49Speaker 1: You're missing one elk, elk is not it? I remember
- 4:54Speaker 1: black bear? Black bear would be next. The incorrect answers
- 4:58Speaker 1: given were big horn, l American elk, and rocky mountain elk. Again,
- 5:02Speaker 1: the four correct answers are white tail, black bear, mule deer,
- 5:06Speaker 1: and pronghorn. Now we have some housekeeping to get to.
- 5:09Speaker 1: In a previous game of trivia, we had a question
- 5:12Speaker 1: about what takes the longest to decompose between a glass jar,
- 5:16Speaker 1: plastic bottle, aluminum can, and leather shoe. The correct answer
- 5:21Speaker 1: was glass jar, which takes about one million years to decompose.
- 5:25Speaker 1: The other three materials take less than five thousand years
- 5:28Speaker 1: to decompose. Now, cal seem to think this answer was subjective, though,
- 5:32Speaker 1: and vehemently argued that plastic never decomposes, saying it just
- 5:37Speaker 1: breaks down into microplastics. While it's true that plastic just
- 5:40Speaker 1: gets smaller and smaller, it does eventually reach a size
- 5:44Speaker 1: that can be broken down by bacteria. The bacterium Rhodococcus ruber,
- 5:49Speaker 1: which is found worldwide, has been proven to eat and
- 5:53Speaker 1: digest plastic. As recently as this year, scientists have observed
- 5:57Speaker 1: the bacteria turning microplastics into CO two and other harmless substances. Now,
- 6:03Speaker 1: Cal was supposed to be on this episode, and at
- 6:05Speaker 1: this point I would have thrown it to him and
- 6:06Speaker 1: I said, Cal, the floor is yours to continue arguing
- 6:10Speaker 1: with this scientific fact. But Cal is not here, so
- 6:14Speaker 1: we'll just have tragic silence.
- 6:15Speaker 8: I would have really enjoyed it, because he felt quite
- 6:18Speaker 8: strongly about that, very strongly. He really enjoyed his reaction
- 6:21Speaker 8: to this.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Spent multiple questions arguing about it. But we have it
- 6:25Speaker 1: right here in front.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Of us this episode.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Now the Shelby and Expert Today's round is a three,
- 6:33Speaker 1: so our winner should get six correct answers, and with
- 6:36Speaker 1: that we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil, Look,
- 6:42Speaker 1: I need to know what I stand and win.
- 6:44Speaker 7: Everything how's that just tend to win everything game on Suckers?
- 6:58Speaker 1: Brody, that's your first time seeing Phil's light show.
- 7:00Speaker 5: I kind of wish it was dark the whole time.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I did like it.
- 7:06Speaker 2: So does would give the game show feeling all the
- 7:09Speaker 2: whole time. Let's do it, Phil, Can we still see
- 7:12Speaker 2: our faces?
- 7:15Speaker 1: I don't would happened if we had the lighting like this?
- 7:17Speaker 1: For example?
- 7:18Speaker 4: Oh, I'm sure no one would complain about the.
- 7:24Speaker 8: Be quite frustrated.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Question one, the topic is cooking. Which of these liquids
- 7:31Speaker 1: has the lowest boiling point? Is it fresh water in Denver,
- 7:36Speaker 1: salt water in Denver, fresh water in Miami, or salt
- 7:41Speaker 1: water in Miami. Again, which of these liquids has the
- 7:47Speaker 1: lowest boiling point? Fresh water in Denver, salt water in Denver,
- 7:53Speaker 1: fresh water in Miami, salt water in Miami. For this
- 7:57Speaker 1: side of the room, the question is behind you want
- 8:00Speaker 1: Phil's TV if you ever need to reference this, Phil,
- 8:05Speaker 1: I saw you doing a lot of playing with this
- 8:07Speaker 1: camera over here. What was going on?
- 8:09Speaker 4: Oh, the aperture was just a little too open, So
- 8:11Speaker 4: I Yanni had a little some glow on his sport
- 8:13Speaker 4: and I'm trying to help you out yees.
- 8:14Speaker 1: So it's all good. Now, it's all good, Yanni. Without
- 8:19Speaker 1: an answer yet, Randall, do you think you have this
- 8:25Speaker 1: one right?
- 8:25Speaker 8: No, No, I don't. It's uh, it's a mystery.
- 8:30Speaker 1: To me looking for the one with the lowest boiling point.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Freshwater in Denver. Saltwater in Denver, fresh water in Miami,
- 8:39Speaker 1: saltwater in Miami. Hillary, how do you feel about this question?
- 8:48Speaker 2: I mean, probably wrong, but using logic.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So Hillary came in sporting an enormous scar on her arm. Hillary,
- 9:00Speaker 1: show that to the camera. God, really that is wicked familiar. Well,
- 9:06Speaker 1: how did that happen?
- 9:10Speaker 8: I like to ride my mountain Mike downhill and sometimes
- 9:13Speaker 8: crash it.
- 9:14Speaker 1: It's not humiliating because that's badass. And you didn't even
- 9:18Speaker 1: wreck your bike. You said you stayed on both wheels.
- 9:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 9:22Speaker 8: I just kind of had to run in with a tree.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Very impressive tree.
- 9:27Speaker 8: A tree did that? They're vicious, those trees.
- 9:29Speaker 2: They don't move.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 9:36Speaker 1: We have Brody saying fresh water in Denver, Yiannis saying
- 9:40Speaker 1: saltwater in Miami, Randall saying fresh water in Denver. Colin
- 9:45Speaker 1: saying salt water in Denver, Hillary saying Miami saltwater, Alyssa
- 9:50Speaker 1: saying salt water in Denver.
- 9:52Speaker 6: Someone's gonna get it right.
- 9:54Speaker 1: The correct answer is fresh water in Denver. I think
- 9:58Speaker 1: we had Randall and Brody at that one right. The
- 10:01Speaker 1: boiling point of water will rise when you add salt
- 10:05Speaker 1: and will lower when you gain elevation. That means freshwater
- 10:09Speaker 1: in Denver has the lowest boiling point at two hundred
- 10:12Speaker 1: and two degrees fahrenheit, and saltwater in Miami has the
- 10:16Speaker 1: highest boiling point at two hundred and twelve point one
- 10:19Speaker 1: degrees fahrenheit.
- 10:21Speaker 5: Doesn't salt water lower freezing point two?
- 10:25Speaker 1: That sounds right?
- 10:26Speaker 6: I think it might.
- 10:27Speaker 1: It will raise your boiling point temperature just slightly. So
- 10:31Speaker 1: the correct answer with the lowest boiling point fresh water
- 10:34Speaker 1: in Denver.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Hillary and I were the wrongest.
- 10:37Speaker 8: We were the wrongest.
- 10:39Speaker 1: That's okay.
- 10:40Speaker 5: See how hot the water is in Miami right now.
- 10:42Speaker 5: It's almost one hundred degrees degree.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Doesn't it already started? Then?
- 10:49Speaker 1: Thinks? So question two the topic is hunting. This next
- 10:53Speaker 1: great question comes to his VA Nicholas Clay. If you
- 10:56Speaker 1: have a question you think is right for meat eat
- 10:58Speaker 1: to trivia. You can send it to trivia at the
- 11:00Speaker 1: medeater dot com. What white bird is featured on the
- 11:04Speaker 1: federal duck stamp that expires in twenty twenty four? What
- 11:11Speaker 1: white bird is featured on the federal duck stamp that
- 11:14Speaker 1: expires in twenty twenty four. This stamp just came out
- 11:19Speaker 1: a few weeks ago. Seems as though nobody knows this
- 11:27Speaker 1: for certain. Just taking some guesses. What white bird is
- 11:33Speaker 1: featured on the federal duck stamp that expires in twenty
- 11:36Speaker 1: twenty four. Brody, have you bought your duck stamp yet?
- 11:44Speaker 6: No?
- 11:47Speaker 1: Night before?
- 11:49Speaker 8: I think we're all just writing down white birds.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answered? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 12:00Speaker 1: We have Brody saying tundra swan. You're honest, saying snow goose.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Randall's saying swan, Colin saying swan, Hillary saying snow goose,
- 12:09Speaker 1: Alysa saying crane. The correct answer is tundra swan. I
- 12:13Speaker 1: don't think we're going to give it to just the swan. Oh,
- 12:16Speaker 1: it's not good enough. It could have been a trumpeter swan,
- 12:19Speaker 1: could be a tundra swan. Oh, we didn't specify.
- 12:23Speaker 5: Which one can you hunt. Both of them are just
- 12:25Speaker 5: the tundr swan.
- 12:26Speaker 1: You can definitely hunt the tundra swan. I don't know
- 12:28Speaker 1: about a trumpet.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I don't think the trumpeters are huntable.
- 12:32Speaker 1: The only other time a tundra swan was featured on
- 12:34Speaker 1: the Federal duck stamp was in nineteen sixty six. The
- 12:37Speaker 1: winning painting was created by Joseph Hoptman, who is brothers
- 12:41Speaker 1: with the winner of last year's contest. Joe also painted
- 12:45Speaker 1: the trumpeter swan that won in twenty sixteen.
- 12:49Speaker 8: I almost asked for clarification.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I should have given it.
- 12:54Speaker 5: I almost did too, but I didn't want to think then.
- 12:57Speaker 8: Yeah, I was thinking tundra swan in my head, and
- 13:00Speaker 8: then I was like, I don't want to get too
- 13:01Speaker 8: particular about it. I'll just say swan. It's white.
- 13:04Speaker 5: Usually i'll give credit to Spencer. He usually clarifies, yeah, well,
- 13:13Speaker 5: it would have.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I think it would have been like if you wrote
- 13:14Speaker 1: down goose goose, would.
- 13:15Speaker 8: Have not been no goose goose, and that is not
- 13:19Speaker 8: the same at all.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Question three, the topic is fishing. Merriam Webster defines this
- 13:26Speaker 1: water body as quote a crescent shaped lake formed in
- 13:30Speaker 1: the abandoned channel of a river's meander. Merriam Webster defines
- 13:38Speaker 1: this water body as quote a crescent shaped lake formed
- 13:43Speaker 1: in the abandoned channel of a rivers meander. Quick answers
- 13:47Speaker 1: from Colin Randall, Giannis Brody, You boys all have this
- 13:52Speaker 1: one right, Yeah, buddy, I hope so, Alyssa and Hillary
- 13:59Speaker 1: not as certain. Is anything coming to mind?
- 14:06Speaker 5: Fill that sticker on your back your computer monitor is
- 14:09Speaker 5: very distracting.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Oh, I'm sorry, that's our that's our guy Keith at
- 14:13Speaker 4: the First Light Flagship store in Hailey, Idaho.
- 14:15Speaker 1: How did that become a sticker?
- 14:17Speaker 4: Don't ask me. He handed it to me when I
- 14:19Speaker 4: was walking out the door, and I thought it was a.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Good sticker of himself.
- 14:23Speaker 5: That's that's correct. Okay, that's great.
- 14:25Speaker 8: That's the power moves right.
- 14:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Are you gonna do a mullet? You're pretty hip, dude.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Mullets are getting hip.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Don't pull off a mullet.
- 14:33Speaker 5: All the kids on my baseball team, my kids baseball
- 14:35Speaker 5: team were rocking them this year. It's coming back, man,
- 14:38Speaker 5: do you coach one?
- 14:39Speaker 2: Was it ever in?
- 14:41Speaker 5: Oh yeah, in the eighties, man, for sure.
- 14:44Speaker 2: But I thought I was only in with like a
- 14:46Speaker 2: very small group of people. No, no, no, it was
- 14:48Speaker 2: big time.
- 14:49Speaker 8: Yeah. I mean my dad had one. Patrick Swayzee didn't
- 14:53Speaker 8: He had a mullet ish Yeah. I feel like there
- 14:56Speaker 8: are a lot of heart throbs.
- 14:57Speaker 6: That had those count on his mullets.
- 15:01Speaker 8: I think, I think, I think a mullet has become
- 15:04Speaker 8: sort of this this caricature of itself.
- 15:07Speaker 2: But like right, because now.
- 15:12Speaker 8: I feel like, yeah, yeah, that's the thing is they're
- 15:14Speaker 8: taking it to the extreme.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Hi, how are we doing on this question?
- 15:19Speaker 2: We're giving you time.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Got an answer, Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 15:24Speaker 1: have Brody saying Oxbow, Jannis saying Oxbow, Randall and Colin
- 15:31Speaker 1: and Hillary saying ox Bow, Alissa saying brook. The correct
- 15:36Speaker 1: answer is Oxbow Lake or for our Australian listeners, a billabong.
- 15:43Speaker 8: I was I was gonna make a joke as to
- 15:46Speaker 8: whether or not if it's a do you need to
- 15:49Speaker 8: include the lake? But I didn't do that because I'm
- 15:52Speaker 8: fine what happened on the previous question.
- 15:55Speaker 1: The largest ox Bow lake in North America is Lake Sheiko,
- 15:59Speaker 1: which is a jason into the Mississippi River in Arkansas.
- 16:02Speaker 1: The lake was formed about seven hundred years ago when
- 16:05Speaker 1: the river channel changed its course. Here's an aerial image
- 16:09Speaker 1: of that five thousand acre lake, which you can see
- 16:12Speaker 1: on this episode on YouTube.
- 16:14Speaker 2: That's one of the coolest things about when you fly
- 16:17Speaker 2: over the Alaskan Tundra. If you're near any rivers that
- 16:21Speaker 2: those things are, you see a lot of them. I
- 16:23Speaker 2: don't want to say dimond dozen, but yes, they're very evident, like, oh,
- 16:26Speaker 2: look at that river changes courts.
- 16:28Speaker 6: There's an oxbow lake.
- 16:29Speaker 1: It's pretty cool and it's fun how recent they can
- 16:31Speaker 1: show up, like things that are geologically seven hundred years old,
- 16:35Speaker 1: like this entire five thousand acre lake that man had
- 16:38Speaker 1: nothing to do with. It's a lot of fun. Question
- 16:41Speaker 1: four the topic is woodsmanship. This next great question comes
- 16:46Speaker 1: to is via Chase well Vart. If you have a
- 16:48Speaker 1: question you think is right for Meat Eater Trivia, you
- 16:50Speaker 1: can send it to trivia at the medeater dot com.
- 16:53Speaker 1: This semi aquatic pit viper was responsible for the last
- 16:57Speaker 1: fatal snake bite in Missouri and Louisiana. This semi aquatic
- 17:06Speaker 1: pit viper was responsible for the last fatal snake bite
- 17:10Speaker 1: in Missouri and Louisiana. Again, one side of the table
- 17:18Speaker 1: is confident, the other side not so much. How do
- 17:26Speaker 1: you feel about your answer, Yanni?
- 17:29Speaker 2: I don't know if this thing is known as a
- 17:32Speaker 2: pit viper, but you know, just picking like a deadly,
- 17:37Speaker 2: poisonous snake from that part of the country.
- 17:41Speaker 6: Can you ask that question? But I can't.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I can't define a pit viper. It was responsible for
- 17:48Speaker 1: the last fatal snake bite in Missouri and Louisiana.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Man, I want to ask a question, do it?
- 17:59Speaker 6: Brodie? I can't ask a question.
- 18:02Speaker 5: Is it'll just give too much away?
- 18:03Speaker 1: Randall? How do you feel about your answer?
- 18:05Speaker 5: I feel pretty good.
- 18:07Speaker 8: Going back and forth wondering whether these were snake bites
- 18:12Speaker 8: that occurred in nature or during religious services. I remember
- 18:20Speaker 8: that in a recent well, not in not a recent episode,
- 18:23Speaker 8: but in a past episode, that quite a few of
- 18:27Speaker 8: the snake bites in the South occur indoors.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Is everybody ready that's at That could be a hot tip.
- 18:36Speaker 2: I'm sticking with my answer, Hillary.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Are you ready?
- 18:39Speaker 8: I'm not, but my snake game is not very strong.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Are you going with an outdoor your answers?
- 18:50Speaker 1: We have Brody saying cotton mouth or water moccasin, yan
- 18:53Speaker 1: is saying cotton mouth Randall saying water moccasin, Colin saying
- 18:58Speaker 1: cotton mouth, Hillary's saying trickel, Melyssa saying copperhead. The correct
- 19:04Speaker 1: answer is water moccasin or cotton mouth. The last fatal
- 19:09Speaker 1: snake bite in Missouri happened in twenty fifteen, when a
- 19:12Speaker 1: thirty seven year old man was bit by a cotton
- 19:15Speaker 1: mouth while waiting in the James River. The last fatal
- 19:19Speaker 1: snake bite in Louisiana happened in nineteen seventy one, when
- 19:22Speaker 1: a twenty eight year old was struck while collecting reptiles.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Some sources say the water moccasin is the only semi
- 19:29Speaker 1: aquatic pit viper in the world. Has anybody in this
- 19:32Speaker 1: room encountered when I have snakes? We're at down in.
- 19:36Speaker 5: Texas with my buddy alvin Ado the what river is it?
- 19:41Speaker 5: Colorado River down there?
- 19:42Speaker 1: So you were in water when this happened.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Something swam right up to the boat.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Did it try to get in?
- 19:48Speaker 5: They tried, they'll try to, like you gotta whack them
- 19:50Speaker 5: with the paddle, and.
- 19:51Speaker 1: So you did that really yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:55Speaker 5: We saw we were in these once in a python
- 19:57Speaker 5: tried to crawl on the boat, swimming around the mangroves,
- 20:01Speaker 5: whatever they got python our constrictors. I don't know which
- 20:04Speaker 5: ones are down there.
- 20:05Speaker 2: You've seen one, Yanni, Yeah, a couple on a cattle
- 20:09Speaker 2: ranch in Florida this past spring we were turkey hunting.
- 20:12Speaker 1: That was in water on dry land, dry land, close
- 20:15Speaker 1: to a canal. I don't know what would be more scary.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Probably in water.
- 20:21Speaker 6: Yeah, they probably seem like they're quicker. Yeah.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Three Actually, because one actually I didn't quite step on it.
- 20:27Speaker 2: But then when we decided to go our separate ways,
- 20:29Speaker 2: he's sort of he or she paralleled me for a
- 20:33Speaker 2: while and it was giving me that feeling like I
- 20:36Speaker 2: was gonna crawl on the boat with me.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Question five. The topic gear. This firearm, which passed the
- 20:43Speaker 1: ten million made mark in two thousand and nine, was
- 20:46Speaker 1: declared America's pump gun by Field and Stream.
- 20:52Speaker 6: Well and the number.
- 20:53Speaker 1: The topic is gear. This firearm, which passed the ten
- 20:57Speaker 1: million made mark in two thousand and nine, was declared
- 21:00Speaker 1: America's pump gun by Field and Stream. Confident Brody and
- 21:07Speaker 1: Randall and Jannie and Colin.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I'm playing from behind, Bud. It's not looking good.
- 21:14Speaker 1: And this is question five. We'll get a scoreboard update
- 21:17Speaker 1: from Phil After this, Randall is definitely not still thinking
- 21:21Speaker 1: about the tundra Swan.
- 21:23Speaker 8: No, not at all. I've moved on. I've made peace
- 21:25Speaker 8: with it.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Maybe maybe what's cool about the cotton Mouth I want
- 21:31Speaker 2: to add is that the biggest one we saw was
- 21:35Speaker 2: coiled up, and then their head is like right in
- 21:38Speaker 2: the middle of the coil, and they spread their jaws
- 21:41Speaker 2: wide open to almost like where it's a flat plane,
- 21:45Speaker 2: and the whole inside is bright white and so very clearly. Well, no,
- 21:50Speaker 2: I think that's when you're a vehicle. They're like, yeah,
- 21:54Speaker 2: don't mess with me, but you can clearly see how
- 21:56Speaker 2: they got their name.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Hillary Alyssa, are you going to come up with an
- 22:01Speaker 1: answer for this question?
- 22:03Speaker 2: Unlikely?
- 22:04Speaker 1: Bro? Do you think you have this one? Right? I better?
- 22:07Speaker 1: Do you think you have this gun in your gun case?
- 22:10Speaker 5: Not anymore?
- 22:11Speaker 2: Okay, I want to do your regrets in my life.
- 22:14Speaker 2: But I bought this gun as the first gun I
- 22:16Speaker 2: ever bought myself from old man Dixon at his Dixon
- 22:21Speaker 2: Sporting Goods. And uh, you know I don't have.
- 22:26Speaker 1: The best person is you didn't even grow up near
- 22:28Speaker 1: each other.
- 22:29Speaker 6: Yeah, I've twenty five years now.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, sorry, Yanni carry on.
- 22:33Speaker 2: And anyways, Uh yeah, I sold that gun away and
- 22:37Speaker 2: I kind of wish I still had a.
- 22:39Speaker 5: Good Turkey guns.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Randall, do you have one of these in your gun cabinet?
- 22:43Speaker 8: If I'm getting this answer right, then I do indeed
- 22:46Speaker 8: about you.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Colin, Yeah, if I'm right, I don't think I do.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Okay, it's surprising he doesn't know he does or doesn't. Well,
- 22:54Speaker 5: I'm just.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Saying I don't think I got I don't know if
- 22:56Speaker 3: I got the question right.
- 22:57Speaker 1: What if I did get right, I don't have the
- 22:59Speaker 1: if you guys were confident your answer that it'd be
- 23:01Speaker 1: four for four. Alyssa, Hillary, are you going to come
- 23:04Speaker 1: up with an answer? I think we're going to turn
- 23:08Speaker 1: over the boards. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 23:11Speaker 1: have Brody saying Remington eight seventy Yiannis saying Remington eight seventy,
- 23:16Speaker 1: Randall and Colin saying Remington eight seventy, Hillary, and Alyssa
- 23:22Speaker 1: without an answer. The correct answer is the Remington eight seventy.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Remington has been producing the eight seventy for over seventy
- 23:30Speaker 1: years and still makes them today in their New York factory.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Some say the name was created because the first version
- 23:36Speaker 1: of the shotgun use materials that cost eight dollars and
- 23:40Speaker 1: seventy cents. The eight to seventy made Phil borges Ley's
- 23:44Speaker 1: list of the four waterfowl shotguns that have stood the
- 23:47Speaker 1: test of time, which you can read on the medeater
- 23:50Speaker 1: dot com fail. We're halfway through our game of trivia.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Give us a scoreboard update.
- 23:56Speaker 4: We have Alyssa with zero points, Hillary with one, Jannis
- 24:00Speaker 4: and Colin are tied up with three points apiece, Randall
- 24:03Speaker 4: has four, and in first place with a perfect game
- 24:06Speaker 4: is Brody Henderson with five points.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Good job, Brody, a lot of game left, kil.
- 24:12Speaker 8: Could you do a second update as if we had counted.
- 24:19Speaker 4: And looks like Randall and Brody are tied up with five.
- 24:25Speaker 1: He could litigate it out later. Maybe Brody is feeling generous.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Remember when I had to feel generous? One time I was,
- 24:33Speaker 2: and then I think it cost me the game.
- 24:36Speaker 6: That ship's over.
- 24:39Speaker 2: That was two times once. We once we accepted that
- 24:42Speaker 2: in the in the in the communists, the communist, But
- 24:47Speaker 2: there was another one where it was a question like this,
- 24:49Speaker 2: and you benefited me give it to him.
- 24:51Speaker 1: I said, sure, too generous, Ye, but he's learned his lesson.
- 24:56Speaker 6: Yeah, that's right.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Question six. The topic is biology. This next great question
- 25:11Speaker 1: comes to us via meat Eater's own Christine siwiki. If
- 25:14Speaker 1: you have a question you think is right for meat
- 25:15Speaker 1: Eater Trivia, you can send it to trivia at the
- 25:18Speaker 1: medeater dot com. A baby Sandhill crane goes by this
- 25:23Speaker 1: Ford letter name. Mmmm, a baby sand Hill crane this
- 25:32Speaker 1: Ford letter name.
- 25:33Speaker 6: I'm sticking with.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Yanni is confidence. Has a lot of confidence. The rest
- 25:38Speaker 1: of the room not so much. Hillary was looking for
- 25:42Speaker 1: a scoreboard update for cal Cal has zero right now.
- 25:48Speaker 8: Nicely played.
- 25:53Speaker 7: That mean.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Yanni and uh Colin and has not come up with
- 26:00Speaker 1: an answer. Colin, do you think you have this one right?
- 26:03Speaker 4: I think they have it right.
- 26:05Speaker 8: Maybe part of it's right.
- 26:08Speaker 1: As we learned on a recent episode, they passed through
- 26:12Speaker 1: Nebraska heavily. I don't know about Iowa. I imagine they
- 26:15Speaker 1: get into Iowa.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not too sure.
- 26:18Speaker 2: This also was an Iowegian du They crane poach it.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Probably.
- 26:23Speaker 5: There's also a question that pro.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Well. He had argued that the Platte River was also
- 26:31Speaker 1: in Colorado, but it wasn't. There were qualifiers on the question,
- 26:36Speaker 1: like you know this is where they put on a
- 26:38Speaker 1: pound of weight. It's where twenty percent stop or something.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Cow was not right. I also think it was the
- 26:44Speaker 1: South Platte that's in Colorado, not actually the Platte.
- 26:48Speaker 5: River, South Platte.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer for the four letter name
- 26:53Speaker 1: for a baby sand hill crane? Randall's looking to use
- 26:58Speaker 1: his cheek.
- 27:00Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 27:02Speaker 1: He disagrees with whatever Yanni's answer is.
- 27:04Speaker 8: I'm just hoping that Yanni's answer is incorrect.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Hillary, Alyssa, do you have an answer?
- 27:09Speaker 5: No, Janni's jumped on it. He's gotta have it right.
- 27:13Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Are you confident, Yanni?
- 27:15Speaker 2: No, No, but somewhere way back in there, yeah, I.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Think we're going to turn over the boards. Go ahead
- 27:27Speaker 1: and reveal your answers.
- 27:28Speaker 2: We have baby.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Yannis is saying fool, Randall saying rook, Colin saying bird,
- 27:36Speaker 1: Alyssa and Hillary without an answer. Nobody got it. The
- 27:41Speaker 1: correct answer is colt. Oh close, Yanni.
- 27:47Speaker 2: In my head, I just thought, not a colt's older,
- 27:49Speaker 2: so the baby's got to be the.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Full sand Hill cranes share terminalogy with horses. The babies
- 27:55Speaker 1: are called colts. Males are called roan's. Females are called mares,
- 28:01Speaker 1: and groups are called a flock, siege, or herd. These
- 28:05Speaker 1: labels were born out of observations that sandhill cranes gallop
- 28:09Speaker 1: like horses. There goes, But I think that is that
- 28:14Speaker 1: sex specific to a male. Maybe we're looking for colt.
- 28:20Speaker 2: We got to watch the dance the other day at
- 28:24Speaker 2: our house.
- 28:24Speaker 6: Which was very, very cool.
- 28:26Speaker 2: They're right at your place while they're in that meadow
- 28:28Speaker 2: across the way.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Question seven. The topic is cooking. What dish roughly translates
- 28:35Speaker 1: to ranch style eggs in Spanish? What dish does not matter,
- 28:46Speaker 1: Spelling does not matter. What dish roughly translates to ranch
- 28:49Speaker 1: style eggs in Spanish. The Yanni it says that a
- 28:58Speaker 1: fole is the term used for baby horses. Male fols
- 29:02Speaker 1: are called colts and female fols are called phillies. I
- 29:06Speaker 1: will now look for you to see if I don't
- 29:09Speaker 1: think a fool is called a baby sand hill crane.
- 29:13Speaker 1: But you had the right line of thinking. The question
- 29:16Speaker 1: we're on though, is what dish roughly translates to ranch
- 29:19Speaker 1: style eggs in Spanish?
- 29:21Speaker 2: What does one get for the right line of thinking?
- 29:24Speaker 8: Phil for a sense of self satisfaction. I can't tell
- 29:33Speaker 8: if this is a trick question or not.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I'm not seeing any results, Yanni for a baby Sandhill Crane.
- 29:39Speaker 5: I'm not going to criticize this question until I.
- 29:41Speaker 8: Know I got it right. I know I'm not either.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Is everybody ready go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 29:49Speaker 1: have Brody and Jannis and Randalls saying juevos Ranchero's Colin
- 29:55Speaker 1: without an answer, Hillary and Alyssa saying huevos Rancho's. They
- 29:59Speaker 1: got it. The correct answer was Huevos Ranchero's.
- 30:03Speaker 5: Not one of your best questions.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Now I can say that, well, it wasn't one hundred percent.
- 30:08Speaker 1: We still had colin. Is that familiar? And you heard that?
- 30:11Speaker 4: I mean I ordered that all the time, but I
- 30:12Speaker 4: was not thinking that.
- 30:14Speaker 8: You must have been up late working on the kids
- 30:17Speaker 8: trivia and the regular trivia at the same time I
- 30:19Speaker 8: got in your card switched around.
- 30:21Speaker 1: This dish was created on the ranches and farmlands of
- 30:24Speaker 1: central Mexico in the sixteenth century. A traditional version of
- 30:28Speaker 1: Huevos Ranchero's features fried eggs on tortillas and topped with
- 30:32Speaker 1: picode Gaio's, commonly served with refried beans, rice, guacamole, and charizo.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Question eight, the topic is conservation. This is our listener
- 30:42Speaker 1: question of the Week, which was won by Hayley Adams
- 30:45Speaker 1: for sending this great question. Hayley is going to get
- 30:47Speaker 1: a book signed by Steve. This hallucinogenic cactus that's native
- 30:53Speaker 1: to the southwestern United States has been classified as a
- 30:57Speaker 1: vulnerable species since twenty third teen. This hallucinogenic cactus that's
- 31:05Speaker 1: been that's native to the I'm gonna start that over.
- 31:08Speaker 1: This hallucinogenic cactus that's native to the southwestern United States
- 31:13Speaker 1: has been classified as a vulnerable species since twenty thirteen.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Confident Randall Jannis Brody, Janni, you got this one right,
- 31:27Speaker 1: got good, guess Brody had the confidence of someone who
- 31:30Speaker 1: intimately knows this cactus. Brody, you have this one.
- 31:35Speaker 5: No, but there's something else I'll tell you about.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Okay, does this side of the table have answers? I
- 31:42Speaker 1: have one, Melissa Colin, are you going to come up
- 31:46Speaker 1: with one? I don't think I didn't even think of
- 31:48Speaker 1: one name of.
- 31:48Speaker 8: A last time I was on there was a cactus question,
- 31:52Speaker 8: and I don't know cactus to worrow?
- 31:58Speaker 1: What what if that's the answer. It could be it's
- 32:02Speaker 1: everybody ready.
- 32:03Speaker 2: There's a name of a cactus for you.
- 32:04Speaker 6: We just gave.
- 32:05Speaker 1: You go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody
- 32:10Speaker 1: saying Paoti, Giannis and Randall's saying payoti, Colin without an answer,
- 32:15Speaker 1: Hillary's saying A gave, Alyssa is saying A gave. The
- 32:19Speaker 1: correct answer is peyote.
- 32:21Speaker 3: You REALI that was the only thing I kept thinking of, Spencer.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Go ahead, what do you got for us?
- 32:29Speaker 5: Whenever I hear that word, I think of the movie
- 32:31Speaker 5: Young Guns. Remember that scene in Young Guns, I do
- 32:33Speaker 5: not throw me in They get all stoned on Paoti
- 32:37Speaker 5: and it's one of the greatest movies ever.
- 32:38Speaker 6: Man.
- 32:38Speaker 1: I think of Fear and Loathing where they take pot peyote,
- 32:43Speaker 1: and maybe even Hunter S. Thompson was on Peyoti when
- 32:46Speaker 1: he created that. I don't remember.
- 32:47Speaker 5: For certain, Young Guns is better than that movie.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Payote is a small button shaped cactus that produces yellow, pink,
- 32:55Speaker 1: and white flowers. The psychoactive plant has been used by
- 32:58Speaker 1: humans for at least five thousand years and still serves
- 33:02Speaker 1: an important role in the Native American church, which is
- 33:04Speaker 1: sometimes called the peyote religion. Besides giving visions. Peyote is
- 33:09Speaker 1: said to heal scorpion stings, fevers, toothaches, and joint pain.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Phil we have two questions left. Where does the leader
- 33:18Speaker 1: board stand?
- 33:19Speaker 4: Well, I think I know Colin, Hillary, Alyssa, and yes,
- 33:24Speaker 4: Ryan Callahan have been eliminated from the game, but we've
- 33:28Speaker 4: got Giannis with five points, Randall was six, and still
- 33:31Speaker 4: in first place is Brody Henderson with seven points.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Question nine, the topic is fishing. This brand, whose logo
- 33:40Speaker 1: shows a bird with a trout in its talents, claims
- 33:44Speaker 1: to sell the only fishing hook that's made in America.
- 33:51Speaker 1: This brand, whose logo shows a bird with a trout
- 33:54Speaker 1: in its talons, claims to sell the only fishing hook
- 33:58Speaker 1: that's made in America?
- 34:01Speaker 8: Is that right?
- 34:03Speaker 1: That's what they say. I couldn't verify it on my own,
- 34:06Speaker 1: but I imagine that they wouldn't say that if it
- 34:09Speaker 1: wasn't true. Giannis, Randall, Brody think they have it right? Colin,
- 34:16Speaker 1: are you confident your answer?
- 34:17Speaker 2: No?
- 34:19Speaker 1: About you? Hillary?
- 34:20Speaker 6: Are you an angler?
- 34:21Speaker 5: Do you angle?
- 34:23Speaker 1: Oh?
- 34:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I try to Dakota to fish.
- 34:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:26Speaker 8: I usually just stick to trolling with like a cooler
- 34:28Speaker 8: bush light fantastic.
- 34:34Speaker 1: This brand whose logo is a bird with a trout
- 34:37Speaker 1: in its talons, claims to sell the only fishing hook
- 34:40Speaker 1: that's made in America. MM, it's everybody ready, Melissa Hillary.
- 34:52Speaker 3: I don't know anything about hi.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody saying
- 34:56Speaker 1: eagle Claw, Yannis saying eagle Claw, Randall saying eg Claw.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Colin sang American eagle Hillary without an answer, Elica without
- 35:05Speaker 1: an answer. The correct answer was eagle Claw.
- 35:07Speaker 8: Knew it was eagle something.
- 35:08Speaker 1: The brand was born after its founder, Drew McGill encountered
- 35:13Speaker 1: a bird of prey while fishing in the nineteen twenties.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Getting a good view of its talents made him rethink
- 35:19Speaker 1: the shape of a fishing hook and thus create the
- 35:22Speaker 1: eagle Claw Company. Eagle Claw now owns other brands like
- 35:26Speaker 1: Laser Sharp, Trocar, Wright and McGill and Chappelle Phil. We
- 35:31Speaker 1: have one question left. Give us a final leaderboard update.
- 35:36Speaker 4: Brody and Randall. Brody's got eight, Randall's got seven points.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Question ten. The topic is hunting. Which of the six
- 35:45Speaker 1: New England states has the highest population of white tailed deer?
- 35:51Speaker 1: We would need Brody to get this wrong and Randall
- 35:55Speaker 1: to get this right to go to overtime.
- 35:57Speaker 2: You're not gonna tell us what the six England states are.
- 36:01Speaker 1: For you to figure out, Yanni, which of the six
- 36:04Speaker 1: New England states has the highest population of white tailed deer? Hillary,
- 36:16Speaker 1: I think you're the only New Englander in the room
- 36:19Speaker 1: to give you an advantage. Don't don't help out some
- 36:23Speaker 1: of our competitors.
- 36:24Speaker 2: That gives us a tip one of the New England
- 36:27Speaker 2: states that.
- 36:29Speaker 5: I've already I've said too much.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Now, where are you from? Hillary, Hillary? It's your choice.
- 36:36Speaker 1: You can tell them or you can't tell them to you.
- 36:39Speaker 2: I think you should guess.
- 36:42Speaker 1: That's all my answers are, Randel, How do you feel
- 36:43Speaker 1: about your answer?
- 36:46Speaker 8: You know, I feel okay about it. My initial plan
- 36:49Speaker 8: was to just write Tundraswan and then.
- 36:51Speaker 6: Flip it over.
- 36:51Speaker 8: But I thought this question was like open ended enough,
- 36:54Speaker 8: but I had a chance of tying Brody on it.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I see Brody making a list of states. I think
- 36:59Speaker 1: he's trying to can't see his bored and I think
- 37:01Speaker 1: he's trying to figure out what these six are. Then
- 37:04Speaker 1: he's going to go from there.
- 37:05Speaker 8: I'm glad you specified six.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Felt important specify that. I'm sorry, Randall no, I should
- 37:13Speaker 1: have I should have said the analogy, the like if
- 37:16Speaker 1: you know the answer extremely torn, but you think the
- 37:18Speaker 1: answer is bass, you need to say largemouth bass.
- 37:21Speaker 8: I thought about asking for clarification, but I thought I'll
- 37:24Speaker 8: just ride it out. I'll just ride it out. I mean,
- 37:27Speaker 8: a swan's a swan, right, swans a swan? And which
- 37:30Speaker 8: of these six days told me that the highest population
- 37:35Speaker 8: of white tailed deer?
- 37:38Speaker 2: Just remember, Randall, swans a swan.
- 37:42Speaker 8: You're you know, You're only as good as your word.
- 37:44Speaker 8: And the swan's a swan.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Brody, how do you feel about your answer?
- 37:50Speaker 6: I don't have one yet.
- 37:52Speaker 5: I'm torn between two states.
- 37:56Speaker 1: So I googled if you can hunt trumpeter swans and
- 37:59Speaker 1: this is what it says. This is from the Montana
- 38:02Speaker 1: FWP website. It is also legal to hunt both tundraus
- 38:06Speaker 1: swans and trumpeter swans in the Central Flyway part of
- 38:10Speaker 1: the state. I think that means Randall that we are
- 38:13Speaker 1: still not going to accept just swan.
- 38:16Speaker 8: But if you're gonna shoot a tundra swan or a
- 38:19Speaker 8: trumpeter swan, what do you shoot it with?
- 38:22Speaker 1: I'm not sure what you're getting at here.
- 38:25Speaker 8: You shoot it with a swan tag.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Is that true?
- 38:28Speaker 8: I don't know it is a swan tag. You apply
- 38:31Speaker 8: for swantag in the Central Flyway or the Pacific Flyway.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Brody, how are we doing with your answer over here? Oh?
- 38:41Speaker 5: How much time you got?
- 38:43Speaker 8: I feel like I got some momentum. You did, you did,
- 38:48Speaker 8: But Spencer's chair just and slowly away from the table.
- 38:52Speaker 5: I can't.
- 38:52Speaker 1: I can't argue with you now. Is that true?
- 38:54Speaker 5: It is true? It is true.
- 38:56Speaker 8: Last year I last year I had said swan tag
- 38:59Speaker 8: and I really wanted to shoot one, but I just
- 39:01Speaker 8: never never pulled it off.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Brody, are you still litigating out? Which? Okay? I think
- 39:08Speaker 1: we're only waiting on you right now? All right, you
- 39:12Speaker 1: read I.
- 39:13Speaker 5: Do not want to tie with Randall. Oh I want
- 39:15Speaker 5: to tie with Brody so badly.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Your answers we have Brody saying Maine he crossed out
- 39:22Speaker 1: New York, Giannis saying New Jerseys said New York, Randall's
- 39:26Speaker 1: saying Maine, Colin saying Maine, Hillary saying Maine. Alyssa saying Massachusetts.
- 39:32Speaker 1: We have a correct answer in the room. It's Maine,
- 39:37Speaker 1: making Brody.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Why need you guys to do stacks? I feel all,
- 39:42Speaker 2: I hear about how Maine's got very few deer.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Maine has the most deer in New England at two
- 39:48Speaker 1: hundred ninety thousand. That's followed by Vermont at one hundred
- 39:51Speaker 1: thirty three thousand, Connecticut at one hundred one thousand, New
- 39:55Speaker 1: Hampshire at one hundred thousand, Massachusetts at ninety five thousand,
- 39:59Speaker 1: and Rhode Island at eighteen thousand. Maine actually has more
- 40:03Speaker 1: deer than New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island combined. So
- 40:08Speaker 1: I think if you were going by size Yannie, that's
- 40:10Speaker 1: probably how well.
- 40:11Speaker 2: I honestly don't know. I always say this, I don't
- 40:13Speaker 2: know my Eastern Seaboard geography because I wrote down two
- 40:16Speaker 2: states that aren't to New England states.
- 40:19Speaker 1: That is part of the fun of the question. Brody
- 40:21Speaker 1: wins with nine correct answers. He's not going to give
- 40:25Speaker 1: Randall the the ninth point to force the tie bread fine.
- 40:28Speaker 8: I don't want it.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I thought I made that clear out right, Brody, waere
- 40:33Speaker 1: is the five hundred dollars donation from me Deeter going
- 40:36Speaker 1: to go.
- 40:37Speaker 5: On the crayfish book tour. I met someone from Outdoor Buddies,
- 40:41Speaker 5: which is a group that organizes camping and fishing, hunting
- 40:46Speaker 5: trips for kids and vets. So we're going to send
- 40:49Speaker 5: it to outdoor buddies.
- 40:50Speaker 1: What part of the tour did you learn about that?
- 40:53Speaker 6: Look like, where were we?
- 40:55Speaker 5: I think it was Denver?
- 40:57Speaker 1: How much feedback did you get on these Steve Brody rivalry?
- 41:02Speaker 5: Constant?
- 41:02Speaker 1: Constant? Did seem like there were more Steve fans or
- 41:05Speaker 1: Brody fans out there?
- 41:07Speaker 8: You know you're not gonna make a man.
- 41:10Speaker 5: You can come to your.
- 41:12Speaker 1: Maybe there's more like it's not even you're a fan
- 41:15Speaker 1: of one of them, you're more anti the other, because
- 41:17Speaker 1: it seems like that sentiment gets shared as much.
- 41:21Speaker 5: Big big fan.
- 41:22Speaker 2: Okay, I mean Especier, Who are you a bigger fan of?
- 41:26Speaker 1: Everybody's partial conservation always wins a true professional. Now, next

- 42:08Speaker 2: I can tell you that since I've had to start
- 42:09Speaker 2: thinking about trivia, the questions start to come, which is
- 42:13Speaker 2: just interesting. Or maybe you're just sort of open to
- 42:16Speaker 2: the universe bringing you those questions. But it took me
- 42:20Speaker 2: a more time than I thought it would to write
- 42:23Speaker 2: up a script for a game of trivia. So now
- 42:25Speaker 2: ivery excited to you that you put a lot of
- 42:27Speaker 2: effort into this.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Thank you. You're gonna do great. Here's how I know

- 42:36Speaker 1: and he said it's a good batch of questions. It's
- 42:39Speaker 1: gonna be fun.
- 42:40Speaker 5: Did you pick all the questions or you curate? And
- 42:42Speaker 5: I'm like Spencer over.
- 42:44Speaker 6: Here, I.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Took well, yeah, I didn't come up with all of them. No,
- 42:50Speaker 2: I definitely was, you know, just out and about and
- 42:53Speaker 2: then i'd hear something, i'd snag it or I grabbed
- 42:56Speaker 2: one from the inbox.
- 42:58Speaker 8: I'm just looking forward to seeing your if you if
- 43:01Speaker 8: you follow Spencer's model of the voice inflection and your
