Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_02: Welcome to Planet Butter,
- 0:01my world where I hopefully inspire you to build yours by being
- 0:05into-centric.
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: I'm Jordan Alexandra Blizzard Planet.
- 0:10SPEAKER_02: This is from my planet to yours.
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: Today we're with Connor Milstein of ISO Movements.
- 0:16SPEAKER_02: What is the name of your world?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Well, Jordan just hit the perfect intro.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: ISO movement stands for inside out movements.
- 0:25This is a very similar world to Jordan's where universal
- 0:29principles are the mission
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: to be moving through at all times.
- 0:33The only way anything organic in this entire world grows is
- 0:36from the inside out.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: So in this world, that's exactly what we do with bodies.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Hey, buddy.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: What's your world?
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: You like that one?
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: You like that one?
- 0:46So today we're going to be teaching Jordan a couple of very
- 0:49important things that
- 0:50she can be doing to ensure that her internal world is moving in
- 0:54as close alignment
- 0:55as possible with the universal principles that she likes to
- 0:59teach herself.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: So Jordan.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: Thanks for coming on, Connor.
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: Let's do it.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Let's do it.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: Where do I go?
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Lay down, buddy.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: You're front and center, your model today.
- 1:09All right,
- 1:10so Jordan has graciously volunteered herself for a couple of
- 1:15demos.
- 1:15What we're going to do is we're going to make sure that we
- 1:17teach Jordan the most
- 1:19essential principles that she needs to utilize in her
- 1:21day-to-day in order to ensure
- 1:23her internal environment is aligned with universal principles
- 1:28and what she would
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: like to be living on the outside world.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: Very into-centric.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Very into-centric, yes.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Very into-centric to use her words.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: I'm sure we'll do later episodes where we go into vocabulary.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: I've also made up my own world of words.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: Throw it in here.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: We're in your world today.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: You're already seeing them.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: You're already seeing them.
- 1:49And then she did request we do one crazy thing because once we
- 1:52get really good at
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: the essentials,
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: we gain freedom.
- 1:56We gain freedom to express those same essential principles in
- 1:59many different ways
- 2:00and they do look pretty crazy relative to what you see in your
- 2:03day-to-day or your
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: average,
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: say,
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: fitness industry content.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And very quickly you'll realize this goes much deeper than that.
- 2:11So first and most importantly,
- 2:13we have to understand your number one modality of
- 2:16communication.
- 2:18Number one modality of communication is how you're going to
- 2:21hold yourself and how
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: you're going to move about this planet.
- 2:24That's going to communicate so much more and so much faster
- 2:27than we could in words.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Hence the made up words.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: It's easier that way.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: Made up words, it is easier that way.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: Everybody, all words are made up, so.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: So we go universal language.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: So we go universal language.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: So we go universal language to the body.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: When we walk, we have a couple of things we want to be watching out for.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Number one is how light or how buoyant your steps are.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: All right, so literally the act of being, yes, exactly.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Very bouncy, very springy.
- 2:58All right,
- 2:59so when we walk,
- 3:00start by taking,
- 3:01let's model one step forward.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Take your right foot, other right foot.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: One step forward.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: And then what we're going to do is... No, I'm overthinking it.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Just one little baby step.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: That's all you have to do.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: That's all you have to do.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: No need for thinking here.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: No thinking.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 3:16what we want to do is we want to utilize a couple of simple
- 3:19cues to make this back
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: leg,
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: this left foot here,
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: come off the floor for you.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: So you don't have to actually produce the energy to create your step,
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: but instead you recycle energy to create your step.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: All right,
- 3:31the first thing that we have to get is where your weight is and
- 3:34then we have to go
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: where your hips are.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Okay, so your weight.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: I want it to be creeping forward towards the front half of your foot.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:42And then your hips,
- 3:43we want them to be creeping forward over your front foot.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:46And then finally,
- 3:47right behind your heart is going to be called your thoracic
- 3:50spine.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: That's going to be creeping forward over your foot.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: And as all three of those keep increasing,
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: very good,
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: you'll feel his back foot automatically get lifted.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: And then that foot plants and the process repeats all over again.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Amazing.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: From your feet to your hips to your spine.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Don't even worry about it.
- 4:06Jordan has a little bit of background,
- 4:07so she's starting to go into later principles.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: But for now, pretend like these don't exist.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: My arms are off.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: So we don't confuse anyone in a 10-minute video.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
- 4:18all right so let me see you produce that same lightness that
- 4:21buoyancy of your back
- 4:22leg is what we want to be stepping through all of the time okay
- 4:25all right so in
- 4:27your feet in your hips and in your spine all three of them
- 4:30increasing to let there
- 4:32you go let that back leg pull off the floor good it looks like
- 4:37you have an easier
- 4:37time with one leg than the other we'll go into the asymmetry of
- 4:41it later very good
- 4:42that was a better step turn it around come towards me it's hard
- 4:46to slow down
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you don't have to go slow necessarily.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm like trying to go slow.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: The cool part about these essential cues,
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: the harder,
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: more aggressively you run them,
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: the faster you'll walk.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: So the harder you drive your hips.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Yes, very good.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: All right, so walking, very important.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: And this is completely off the cuff and live, guys.
- 5:07So we get the chance for some feedback from Jordan's mouth and
- 5:11body immediately.
- 5:12The first and most important question,
- 5:14Jordan,
- 5:14that I want you to be able to reflect on.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 5:17is how light can you get that back foot should i be moving
- 5:21faster you would
- 5:22absolutely like now to see or you're what you're allowing like
- 5:26i'm going slow on
- 5:27purpose that lightness to tell you how much faster how much
- 5:32room you have for speed
- 5:33okay okay so the the lighter you get that back foot the faster
- 5:38you'll end up
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: walking yeah there we go very good very good
- 5:43One,
- 5:43do you feel that back leg pop off the floor or invited to pop
- 5:47off the floor?
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's seamless.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Very good.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Two, the correlation between how hard you're cueing it.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it works backwards too.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: How hard you're running your cues and the speed.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: That's the next, the follow up question.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Just like you like to pose your thoughts in order to create reflection.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: What I do is I teach people targets and indicators.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: These indicators.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 6:12are what we want to be reflecting on the questions we want to
- 6:14be asking ourselves
- 6:15at all times to make sure that we're staying literally living
- 6:20in these universal
- 6:21principles sure it's like one word i never use often enough is
- 6:26embodiment because i
- 6:28don't really see any other option embodiment is the only it
- 6:33just is exactly so we
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: don't want to be worried about
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: are we embodying this thing?
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: We want to be able to have immediate feedback.
- 6:42SPEAKER_02: So when you're teaching,
- 6:45how do you encourage the focus on micro-movements without
- 6:48overthinking into the
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: embodiment of students?
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: That's a great question.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: So you have to start by learning exactly as you are right now.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: We have to get the process rolling.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Once you get really solid at this process,
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: or we condition these targets and indicators into your DNA,
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: You don't need to think about it.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: You can read it immediately.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Your brain will be, oh, that's not buoyant.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Change up.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: So would buoyancy be equivalent to alignment then?
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: With the body?
- 7:18Because when we move with alignment,
- 7:20we're passing energy as efficiently as we possibly can.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: And that efficiency has a feel to it.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Just like when you throw a football well, there's a sound.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: When you swish a basketball, there's a sound, right?
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: There's qualities.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: If you know how to play music, which I do not.
- 7:35If you know how to play music,
- 7:36there's sound quality associated with optimal.
- 7:41And that quality,
- 7:42there's touch,
- 7:43there's taste,
- 7:43there's sound,
- 7:44there's smell.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: And we want to download those.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, go ahead.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: Excuse me.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: It's just,
- 7:51I think this concept of efficiency in relation to alignment and
- 7:54obviously the
- 7:55physical body is such a beautiful way to ground our day to day
- 8:03way of being because
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: this idea of efficiency,
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: not in terms of the way society
- 8:09often refers to it in terms of like optimizing your like speed
- 8:13speed speed not that
- 8:14type of speed but speed in terms of your actual existence of
- 8:19flow for your unique
- 8:20timeline to use my words but you're saying the same thing
- 8:25through your bodily
- 8:26movements it's your alignment is your most efficient way of
- 8:31operating so that you
- 8:32SPEAKER_02: can grow and evolve and expand yourself
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Immediately.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Immediately.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: To me, there is no other option.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: I want to get it to a point where it's black and white.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: Because otherwise we get caught up.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: Thinking, wondering, or more likely compensating.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: Totally.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: More likely living.
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: Which creates friction, right?
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 8:53And so what about the friction that you find with your clients
- 8:56that you know
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: there's friction in their life,
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: their alignment,
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: because you see how they physically move.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: It surfaces.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: How does that communicate between you and the client, I guess?
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: How do we work through that?
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah,
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: because you see it instantly in terms of the physical movement,
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: but that tells you so much more about their day-to-day.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: So what I label it as in the ISO world is restriction.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: All right,
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: so any imbalance from pain to asymmetry to what you feel,
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: so literally what pops up in your body.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Really cool thing I learned over the years,
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: when we use the human body,
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: it doesn't matter,
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: man,
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: woman,
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: old,
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: young,
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: athletic,
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: unathletic,
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: it does not matter,
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: the same tissues end up operating.
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: So we have to identify the restrictions to getting to those tissues.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: And what's really crazy is we have very common restrictions.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: It's unbelievably un-unique.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: It blows my mind.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: Not cool, but fascinating.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: There's layers of biology,
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: basically,
- 10:06un-uniqueness that we have to work through in order to get to
- 10:09our individual case.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: And why,
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: I mean this is a huge question,
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: so you don't necessarily need an answer,
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: but why do you think it is that humans have so aggressively
- 10:22driven themselves out of this natural operating nature of
- 10:27rotation because
- 10:28basically what you're doing it's rotational movement we live on
- 10:30an earth that is
- 10:31round whatever rotating regardless of the exact shape it's
- 10:36rotating we're on it
- 10:38we're part of it time moves through spirals everything is
- 10:43rotating which means the
- 10:44SPEAKER_02: physical body should move rotation and rotation so
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: why do we move away from that?
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: Why did we move away from that?
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: It goes into a long explanation of post-industrialism basically,
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: but to shorten it into a little snippet,
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: we as a society have left
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: The demand of nature to survive.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: We are existing in an unparalleled,
- 11:14unbelievable level of comfort that our nervous system did not
- 11:18evolve into.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: Our nervous system evolved having a need for survival.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: We have removed its number one point.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: We've removed the entire goal of the nervous system.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 11:29And now we have this operating system in a completely
- 11:32different,
- 11:33it doesn't know where it is.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: Right, so it translated into bodily movements.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Which, our nervous system builds our body.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: Nervous system, top dog.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: Musculoskeletal system, bottom of the rung here.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: But still on the ladder.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 11:49So our nervous system is now dictating to our body in a
- 11:52language that doesn't exist
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: to our bodies.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: There's no need for us to be any good at moving anymore.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: It costs energy.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: It costs presence.
- 12:04It costs all these lovely...
- 12:06I'm sure all of these characteristics are probably in your
- 12:08book.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: It costs leadership.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: It costs awareness.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: It costs self-love.
- 12:12It costs all these things that people don't want to give or
- 12:15aren't very trained to
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: give right now.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: So it's this lack of necessity to... Survive.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: To survive.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: Sustain.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: That's fucked up, guys.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: So we become unsustainable, yes.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: And that translates all the way out through our movements.
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: So give us another movement.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: What do we do after walking?
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: So walking, most important, because you take... I call it land swimming.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Land swimming.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: That's hilarious.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: Land swimming.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: I love this world.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: This is a fun world.
- 12:46so because that really you know it's really crazy this is a
- 12:50program what i ended up
- 12:52building it's a good one what i ended up building by accident
- 12:56yeah was a program
- 12:57that works for vertebrates so explain dog fish you bird for
- 13:03land swimmers yes
- 13:05exactly because it comes from we come from fish and then over a
- 13:11couple yeah
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: You didn't know this?
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: Tell me more.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: We evolved from fish.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: No, I thought the whole monkeys.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, you have a fun documentary to watch tonight.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: It's called Find Your Inner Fish.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: Find your inner fish.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: It was a PBS documentary.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: My mind's blown for like the 15th time in 10 minutes.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: It was like, I think it was 2004.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 13:29That we found the fish,
- 13:30like we actually discovered which fish we evolved from.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: It's called the Tiktaalik.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Tiktaalik?
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Oh my God.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: This little thing waddled into land.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 13:39So we as vertebrates are no longer existing how a vertebrate
- 13:44evolved to exist.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: Okay, which is why land swimming has a real, it's grounded.
- 13:50It's grounded and it's silly,
- 13:52which is aligned with Planet Butter,
- 13:54if I may.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: Fair enough.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: Walking, very important because you take so many strides in a day.
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: That is so many opportunities, ideally.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: That is so many opportunities to get into your embodied state.
- 14:08SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 14:09SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: And every single stride.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:12is a make or break chance because you're either in that buoyant
- 14:16state or you're not.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: And every second that you're not, the nervous system is occupied.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: And if the nervous system is occupied, you can't possibly be present.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: You can't be present.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Lots of things crumble.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: And so here's something I'll project from my recent personal practice.
- 14:34SPEAKER_02: When I catch myself overthinking, but my body is relaxed,
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: For me, I know I'm like, okay, my body's relaxed.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: So I'm actually in alignment because my body is relaxed.
- 14:48My mind is overthinking because my body is actually ahead of my
- 14:50mind in this instant.
- 14:53What would you say to other people who maybe aren't as tuned
- 14:58into their body the
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: way I am in terms of,
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: I know my body's relaxed.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I am fine.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: Like I'm relaxed.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: My body is safe.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: I'm in alignment.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: There's no problems here.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: My mind is the one making shit up.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: but my body's fine.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: So the world advice of movement systems is built for beginners.
- 15:18It's built for people that,
- 15:19that are just trying to learn how to get into their body.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:24Even the word relaxed is a tricky one because it's something
- 15:29that we're taught is a
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: good thing and we would think it's a good thing.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: And it ends up, we end up finding these practices of relaxation.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 15:38which you might understand a little bit more deeply is actually
- 15:41not very still.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: It's not as still as you would think it is.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: And that's where people get mixed up.
- 15:47So what's important is being in motion and being capable,
- 15:53accessible in motion.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: Question though, then.
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: Because my mind obviously immediately goes to people practice meditation,
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: people practice all these kind of,
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: for lack of a better word,
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: but there's also truth to it,
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: contrived practices of relaxation.
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: That is what I'm interpreting as,
- 16:12SPEAKER_02: it's forced,
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: which makes it unnatural,
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: which means you're actually not as relaxed as you think you are.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: Correct.
- 16:18SPEAKER_02: whether it's your mind racing,
- 16:19SPEAKER_02: your body's actually not as relaxed as,
- 16:21SPEAKER_02: like I said,
- 16:22SPEAKER_02: I'm like,
- 16:22SPEAKER_02: I'm very practiced in this,
- 16:24so it's hard for me to actually effectively communicate the
- 16:26question that I was
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: going for,
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: because I know my body outrageously well,
- 16:31and I know what is in alignment for my life versus what's not
- 16:34extremely well,
- 16:35SPEAKER_02: because that's my profession,
- 16:36SPEAKER_02: is being in D-centric,
- 16:39knowing these things about myself and perpetually practicing it
- 16:41and then sharing it
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: in the best of my ability.
- 16:44but to teach other people what is relaxed versus not relaxed is
- 16:51so complex so
- 16:52that's why i'm i don't i don't know what i'm trying to ask but
- 16:55what can you play
- 16:56with here you have to there's it's so deep you can only rely on
- 17:01feeling okay you
- 17:02can't rely on on knowing or learning it from a book yeah
- 17:06because then then you're
- 17:08just going to be thinking through it at all times and it's
- 17:10impossible to relax sure
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: so the the
- 17:15way that I teach it is I break it down into layers so that
- 17:19people have entry points
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: and no scaffolding to grow on.
- 17:23This first,
- 17:23the first set of cues that I gave you to walk,
- 17:26I call that essential.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Those are must-haves.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Essential.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: Essential.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: Essential.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: It's like another new word.
- 17:32essential because those are the only ones that we absolutely
- 17:37must have to have our
- 17:38foot in the door sure to be moving force efficiently that's the
- 17:43only ones that we
- 17:44must have so then question if somebody's just watching the show
- 17:50and doesn't
- 17:51necessarily work with you and they want to implement something
- 17:55could could they
- 17:56literally just practice literally walking in that's why we did
- 17:59that cool 100
- 18:00So it's like,
- 18:02if somebody,
- 18:03to attempt to tie it to the attempt at a question that I had.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was about to tie that together.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: Cool, oh, go ahead.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: So that is why we went to walking right away.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: Not how you stand, right?
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: Not like correcting posture, not sitting well, nothing like that.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: Not like chest up, shoulders back, none of that.
- 18:20Because I would rather you be trying,
- 18:23and even if you're inaccurate,
- 18:25you're in motion.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: Which is going to provide you...
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: so much relaxation, which is where we get healing.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: And that's what we want to get to.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: Beautiful.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: I don't want to just walk in a circle.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Whether or not you are doing it well, you are starting.
- 18:44totally okay and that that concept of it's just creating
- 18:49consciousness then for the
- 18:50individual that is exactly like paying more attention to how
- 18:53you walk more than
- 18:54which breeds more emotion cool and that's why we started with
- 18:57that and does the
- 18:58absolute most important thing that we're going to take away
- 19:01because then we get to
- 19:02climb the layers a little bit and when jordan jordan watches on
- 19:06instagram and she
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: sees me do some wild looking shit yeah so i want to play so
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: All that is is those same principles being extrapolated to layer usage,
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: to the outermost layers of my ability.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: Same principles.
- 19:22My brain is able to relax the most at the highest levels of
- 19:26chaos now after 10 years.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: And that's what we want to be good at, finding that same stillness.
- 19:33SPEAKER_02: So then define stillness more in this context.
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: That would be stability from a molecular standpoint where...
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: What provides a molecule stability is electrons moving around it.
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: And that's what stabilizes that molecule.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: And as soon as those break, that motion stops.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: The molecule is unstable and breaks down.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: Another simple way to explain that is a fan.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: Take a ceiling fan.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: When the fan is still, it's very susceptible.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: You can break it.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: Really, you can just...
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: Break it.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 20:08But when a fan's in motion,
- 20:10not only do you not even want to touch it,
- 20:12it's safer.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: So if you hit that fan, what's it do?
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: It just goes like this.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: And keeps its motion going.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: Oh, interesting.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: Keeps its shape, keeps its structure, keeps its function.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: And so when you're referring to chaos for,
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: like,
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: it could be,
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: could it be as simple as somebody's anything?
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: Any adversity.
- 20:28From being tired to being hungover to having a bad day to being
- 20:33in a plate.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: You're still relaxed, meaning you're centered within yourself.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: All right, shall we pivot to the cool trick?
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, to the toy chest.
- 20:42SPEAKER_02: To the toy chest.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: Those listening, we're in the toy chest.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: He's got a lot of stuff going on here.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: So you'll want this toy, probably.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: This toy here is called the Rotational Movement Training Club.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: This one right here.
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: Okay, we picked out one toy.
- 20:57All right,
- 20:58and then do you want to learn,
- 21:00hmm,
- 21:02which toy would you really like?
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: I think you would like the rope.
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: Rope sounds fun.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: I want to do a handstand situation.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: Because I'd practice them, but I can't hold it very well.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: That'll be your body weight.
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: Okay, perfect.
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: We got a body weight thingamajig coming up and a toy thing coming up.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: And Connor's going to tell us the name of these toys.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: All right, so Jordan requested a couple crazy things while she's in town.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: So, of course, I had to get some of my favorite toys out.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: Right here, we have the Rotational Movement Training Club.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: This one right here has,
- 21:38I would definitely charge with rebuilding my entire shoulder
- 21:43from scratch after
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: years of lifting,
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: American football,
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: every bit of damage that you could imagine.
- 21:50And then it opens up a whole world of opportunity that has
- 21:54provided me with
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: Unbelievable changes in athletic ability,
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: mobility,
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: postural endurance,
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: so many running techniques,
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: so many different pieces.
- 22:05SPEAKER_02: Running techniques.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: Throwing techniques.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: Sick.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: So many different things.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: And then right here,
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: This is what the creator would call the Rosetta Stone of toys.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 22:16This is how you learn the language that your body's speaking
- 22:21because the rope
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: provides you a tangible,
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: visible piece of feedback for what's going on in here.
- 22:28cool yes so we'll definitely learn a bit of each and then she
- 22:32also requested one
- 22:33body weight based crazy thing i like showing that because
- 22:37everyone can do it you
- 22:38don't need the toy and we'll go handstands definitely like you
- 22:43know a heralded a
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: heralded untouchable
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Movement pattern.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: That's literally handstands.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: I end the all levels curriculum with handstands for this exact reason.
- 22:56That's the very last class in the curriculum before you go to
- 22:59the advanced or
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: graduate curriculum.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: And are the toys more in the graduate?
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: The foundational courses are in the first steps.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: All body weight.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: It's all body weight,
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: and then you take the foundational tool courses,
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: and then you move into the graduate level courses.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: We start going wild like we're going to do today.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: We grow fast because of all that alignment.
- 23:23So we're going to start with,
- 23:25we're going to start with,
- 23:27get this off the screen.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: We're going to start with the rope.
- 23:29SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: The first thing that we're going to learn with the rope.
- 23:32SPEAKER_02: Can you rename it?
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: On the spot.
- 23:35SPEAKER_02: Ready, go.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: I would, what would I call this?
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we're in ISO world, not Rosetta Stone, whatever.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: You need a new name.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: So people call it, people call it a flow rope.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: I call it, I call it the treadmill.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: It's like, um,
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: Come on.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: It's hard to think.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: Don't think.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: This is a posture changing treadmill is what this is.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: Less silly than I hoped, but okay.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: The guy that makes these, he calls these octo ropes.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: Octo ropes.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: There's no creativity in this one because the creativity is all inside.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: This is just a simple rope.
- 24:10SPEAKER_02: Good answer.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: This is just a simple rope.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: It's literally... It's from within.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: You can go to Home Depot and make one of these.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: Oh, good to know.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: Or you can spend 80 bucks from a guy from Lithuania.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 24:20SPEAKER_02: Whatever makes your heart sing.
- 24:21The point is...
- 24:22I'm going to add it to my two suitcases I travel the world
- 24:24with.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: This has been all over the world.
- 24:27SPEAKER_02: Cool.
- 24:28All right,
- 24:28so what we're going to learn with the rope is your dragon roll.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: Here's a name for you.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: A little sushi.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: Dragon roll.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: That's what everyone goes to.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: But it's actually like D-R-A-G apostrophe N apostrophe roll.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Dragon.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: So it could be sushi,
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: could be dragon,
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: but really it's because you drag and roll and drag and roll.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, drag and roll.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 24:53SPEAKER_02: Ah, okay.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: So it looks like this.
- 24:55SPEAKER_02: So we can call it the sushi rope for fun.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: Yes, this is the sushi flow.
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: Yay.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 25:00So what you're going to learn is...
- 25:01For all that walking,
- 25:02the walking,
- 25:02what was it?
- 25:03SPEAKER_02: Swimming wall, this walking...
- 25:07land swimming land swimming land swimming and sushi ropes
- 25:10exactly all right so what
- 25:11you're gonna do is i want to you're gonna start you're gonna
- 25:14start with little okay
- 25:16signs right around the yeah sure you're gonna start with little
- 25:19okay signs right
- 25:20around the top of the rope so you're not squeezing it and
- 25:23choking it top below the
- 25:25knots right at the knot at the knot yes here all right and then
- 25:28you're gonna start
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: sweeping the floor in front of you side to side
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: Good.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: Now you're going to bend your knees a little bit.
- 25:37And what we're going to start to do is pick any side you want
- 25:40to start to.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: You're going to drag it towards that side.
- 25:42SPEAKER_02: Should it be touching the floor?
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: I'm going to cheat for you.
- 25:46SPEAKER_02: No cheating.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: You're going to drag it across the floor.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: Just the first one.
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: You're going to drag it across the floor and then hold.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: These are always going to be on separate sides.
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: Oh, because the rope will move, not me.
- 25:59SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: And then
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: Like you're pulling a huge blanket over your head.
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: You're going to flip this over your head.
- 26:05SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: Now, hold on, hold on.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: That automatically your brain wants to bring both hands, right?
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: But you don't need to move your arms actually at all.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: These can chill right by your side.
- 26:17SPEAKER_02: And should it stay loose, the okay?
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it'll stay pretty loose.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: You're just guiding it with your hands.
- 26:21Try not to squeeze it because a lot of people do that when you
- 26:24first start.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: I think the association is like a jump rope where you're like, okay.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 26:31SPEAKER_02: Muscle memory is a problem.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: So then it's going to drag behind you.
- 26:35SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: And then you're going to flip it back over your head.
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: But what about my hands?
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: They're going to stay.
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: So it's a big trick.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: The hands never actually leave the same exact spot.
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: Ever.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: The whole time.
- 26:47SPEAKER_02: No flicks of the wrist.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: It's only going to be.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: Your feet...
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: Your feet.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm a watcher.
- 26:55SPEAKER_02: Go.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: Ready?
- 26:56Go.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: First things first, we sweep the floor like this.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: We drag, drag, drag.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: But the hands are staying.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: Hands are staying.
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: And then whatever side you want to start to, it doesn't matter.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: We can go both ways.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: Whichever side you want to start to, you're going to turn and flip.
- 27:13SPEAKER_02: Do it again.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: Turn, flip.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: Drag turn.
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: So your arms are lifting but they're staying in the same vicinity.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: If I drop the rope.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: That's so fun.
- 27:31So the wrist,
- 27:32there's like a little bit of like,
- 27:33it's like a little buggy.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 27:35SPEAKER_02: A little buggy.
- 27:36SPEAKER_02: We're perspective dancing.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: So it's an easy, light motion.
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'm excited.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: With your hands.
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: So count it out to yourself so that your brain doesn't get confused.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: Say, drag, turn, flip.
- 27:50SPEAKER_02: Drag, turn, flip.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: And then you execute.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: Did I do that?
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: But you went two turns.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, you went two flips.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: Give me one drag, one turn, one flip, and let it pause behind you.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: It's okay if it hits you in the leg at first.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: Right there, right there.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: Why do I want to go back?
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: Stay here.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: It's a natural thing that we all want to do.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Because we go, we can see it.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: And it's easier to control things with your hands.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: Than it is to be vulnerable.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: And control your spine.
- 28:18SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: Now we're tapping into the emotional territory.
- 28:21SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: So all we're going to do from here.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: You're going to pivot towards your right leg like this.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: Oh, stay, stay, stay.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: And then like you're putting a hood on.
- 28:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: Good job.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: Good job.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: And now you're right back here for drag, turn.
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: Drag, turn.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: Flip.
- 28:40SPEAKER_02: Flip.
- 28:41SPEAKER_02: Sort of.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, keep going.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: Now you can't combine it.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: That's going around your head.
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: Okay, okay.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: This is the vicinity.
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: This is home.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: Home base is right here.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: Home.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: So it's like, it's that.
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: But there's momentum because of the drag.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: And my legs.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: Well, everything.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: You're bringing your whole body behind the motion.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: Your hands are doing as little as possible.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: Just get to that point.
- 29:09The way I like to teach it,
- 29:11get to that point so your brain can recognize a new landmark.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: You get to that point and hold.
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: Do you see how badly you don't want to hold at that point?
- 29:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: So I just want you to flip and freeze.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: Flip, freeze.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: Turn.
- 29:25flip drag what yes and that's how that's how easy it can be but
- 29:33we like to way over
- 29:35complicate things so it's stay here but you're not really
- 29:38eventually you don't stay
- 29:40correct but and the it's just the it's a flip it just becomes
- 29:43it becomes one motion
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: you do it so easily it took a
- 29:48while no i wish i did this for a decade oh i lost a lot of time
- 29:54that's for another
- 29:54podcast okay episode next episode with goner yes okay yeah wait
- 30:00guys this is really
- 30:01hard i usually pick things up quickly i'm like i'm kind of
- 30:06pissed okay it's not
- 30:07easy yeah it's gonna make you a little competitive that's we
- 30:10want that yeah we want
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: that go ahead
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 30:13Why do I,
- 30:14like,
- 30:14is that...
- 30:15Yeah,
- 30:15you can bring a little bit of hip into it.
- 30:17SPEAKER_02: Because, like, everything wants to move if I'm not supposed to... Yep.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: You're not supposed to use your hands to do it.
- 30:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: So you use your body to do it.
- 30:25SPEAKER_02: You have to, like, jump a little bit.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: I kind of want to go the other way just for shits.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're getting crazy.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: It's already a little too crazy.
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: You're getting crazy.
- 30:33Okay,
- 30:33like this,
- 30:34when I see you doing it,
- 30:36I'm like...
- 30:36Yep,
- 30:36that's the figure eight.
- 30:37SPEAKER_02: That, okay...
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 30:39SPEAKER_02: Let me feel confident for a second.
- 30:41SPEAKER_02: Go ahead, go ahead.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: Okay, so we can do here.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: And then it's...
- 30:47that but i went out backwards so you're starting to go you're
- 30:50starting to go way
- 30:51crazy you're starting to put together you're starting to put
- 30:54together tell me
- 30:55what's called cardinal directions so okay so that i can show
- 30:58everyone on the camera
- 30:59what jordan's trying to do here there's four cardinal
- 31:02directions of movement right
- 31:04just like a compass north south east west okay once we learn
- 31:07those we can start
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: getting fancy and breaking all those rules
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: So I was being fancy too soon.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 31:12So what you're doing was your figure eight and that's a north
- 31:15and south facing roll.
- 31:16So if I'm facing straight ahead north,
- 31:19pick a random angle,
- 31:20call it north.
- 31:20SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: That's north now.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: This is north now.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: We're on ISO world.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: And south.
- 31:25SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: So if I go north and south, I can stay in this figure eight.
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: That is so cool.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: But if I go to east and west, that's where the dragon roll lives.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: Whoa.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: A little hop and just skip it.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: So, north.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: A little land swim.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: East.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: South.
- 31:46west north okay west south east sick so you can go all the way
- 31:54around the compass
- 31:56wow but we had to start with learning a roll first okay okay
- 32:02how cool though i'm
- 32:03glad okay we're both doing it you guys can see how freaking
- 32:06hard this is then no
- 32:08one will understand on the camera how difficult this is right
- 32:11but the polarity of
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: you doing it versus me already
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: That's a little more tangible.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: You can tell.
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: That's a little more tangible.
- 32:18SPEAKER_02: And if you can't, get your eyes checked out.
- 32:21SPEAKER_02: Wait, what did I just do?
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: You want to try for dragon roll or you want to try figure eight?
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: I want to try the first thing again.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: Dragon roll.
- 32:30SPEAKER_02: So here's where... Yes.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: And then turn and flip.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that was it.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: That was it.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: Do it again.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: There it is.
- 32:36SPEAKER_00: Just a bigger hoodie.
- 32:37SPEAKER_02: Bigger hoodie.
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: Yes, the heaviest hoodie, the heaviest hoodie in the world.
- 32:40SPEAKER_02: The heaviest hoodie, but with my body.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: Yep, because it's stuck under you and you're just like, get up.
- 32:45SPEAKER_02: It's kind of like, I feel my abs working.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 32:47SPEAKER_02: This is great.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: You'll end up with a lot of core work.
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: What you don't want to end up with is a lot of wrist, hand, and forearm.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: You don't want to be squeezing.
- 32:54SPEAKER_02: I feel loose here.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 32:55SPEAKER_02: I feel it all literally here.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: That's where we want to be.
- 32:59SPEAKER_02: Good form?
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: So that's your essential target number one.
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: Your core.
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: Essential target number one.
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: That's so cool.
- 33:07SPEAKER_02: This is meditation.
- 33:08SPEAKER_02: Did I do it too soon?
- 33:09SPEAKER_02: No.
- 33:09SPEAKER_00: Too soon.
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: Drag, turn, flip, freeze.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: Flip?
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 33:14SPEAKER_02: And then it's, is it a twist?
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: That pivot was perfect.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: The pivot, okay.
- 33:18SPEAKER_02: And then.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 33:23SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 33:23SPEAKER_02: Wait, no, no, no.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: Your brain's starting to catch it though.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: I saw your brain catch that one.
- 33:28SPEAKER_00: You did?
- 33:29SPEAKER_02: Cool.
- 33:29Your brain's starting to catch it,
- 33:30which is the first little flicker we need.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: So does the speed just pick up?
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: You're about 10 reps away from putting it together.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: Don't get my hopes.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: If you can stay focused, then it's less than 10 reps.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: But if you let your brain start going, it'll take you another 100.
- 33:51SPEAKER_02: Brain, you're taking the back seat, honey.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: Just relax.
- 33:55SPEAKER_02: And then it's like, but that was not it.
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: You have it.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: You have it.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: We're going to put one little combining piece.
- 34:02SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: One little combining piece right here.
- 34:06SPEAKER_02: Oh, this, this, it's more of a drag.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: It's more of a drag.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: Oh, cause wait, would it be like, well, no, but this hand stays.
- 34:13SPEAKER_02: So it's like, if I, can I start?
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: Do you find starting here?
- 34:17SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 34:19SPEAKER_02: And then hands go here.
- 34:21SPEAKER_02: So those need to stay.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 34:26SPEAKER_02: This makes sense.
- 34:29SPEAKER_02: Like my brain start, like I am starting to catch it.
- 34:31SPEAKER_02: At first I was just throwing myself into the fire,
- 34:33SPEAKER_02: but now I'm actually seeing the mechanics in a sense.
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: So, and then flip.
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: but with momentum.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: Now all you have to do is put that together.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: So you're gonna go flip right into your drag.
- 34:48SPEAKER_02: And is it not, it's not fast?
- 34:51SPEAKER_02: Like you're not necessarily moving fast, but the rope looks fast.
- 34:53SPEAKER_00: You can do it super slow or super fast.
- 34:57right so the the deeper your cues get what you learned in
- 35:01walking yeah the deeper
- 35:03your cues get the faster the rope rolls i don't have to move my
- 35:06arms faster i
- 35:07tension my body more that's and that tension moves the rope so
- 35:12i can also go very
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: slow
- 35:14SPEAKER_02: So there's tension throughout your body, but it's not tightness.
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: It's just like activation.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: Taught.
- 35:20SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 35:20SPEAKER_00: Taught.
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: Taught, not tight.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: Taught, not tight.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: Think about playing defense in basketball.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: What's a defensive position?
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: Well, here.
- 35:30SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: Let's apply that.
- 35:31SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 35:32SPEAKER_02: Let's go.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: We try again.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: The harder defense you play, the faster the rope will roll.
- 35:41SPEAKER_00: It's a much better position.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: Good job.
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: Good job.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: Wait, that was like a good one.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: That was a good one.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: I have one good rope there.
- 35:47SPEAKER_00: That's all it takes.
- 35:48SPEAKER_00: That was so cool.
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: It's like watching an adult learn to ride a bike.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: Cool.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 35:53You just watch the brain develop all these new neurological
- 35:56connections and it's
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: fucking fun and exciting.
- 35:58SPEAKER_02: So fun.
- 35:59SPEAKER_02: I need to get one of these.
- 36:00this go to home depot i will i that becomes my forever do
- 36:05everything tool it's it's
- 36:07a toy it is so fun literally a toy okay wait we we did one good
- 36:10one so that was
- 36:11perfect we'll call it thank you thank you we've gotten the
- 36:14spark that we needed out
- 36:15of your brain yeah yeah yeah so we're going to connect these
- 36:17dots all right jordan
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: yes blizzard planet
- 36:22SPEAKER_02: It's Jordan.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: Jordan, Blizzard Planet.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: Jordan, Alexander, Blizzard Planet, if you want to say all the names.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: Yes, I want the whole thing.
- 36:27SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 36:29SPEAKER_00: Still a human being on planet Earth, at least in this physical existence.
- 36:32SPEAKER_02: We're on ISO World.
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: That's something.
- 36:34SPEAKER_02: What are you talking about?
- 36:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, ISO World happens to be very grounded in planet Earth.
- 36:38SPEAKER_02: Totally.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: Doesn't stay there.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: That's where it starts.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: Okay, totally.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: All right, so.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 36:42being that human being let's go we adhere to those cardinal
- 36:45direction laws no
- 36:46matter what we're doing okay okay so if i have a rope in your
- 36:49hand a club in your
- 36:50hand or bodyweight exercises whatever it is same rules okay so
- 36:56with the club we
- 36:56have the same rules we have north figure eight yep we have
- 37:02south figure eight but
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: we have east and west
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: And that's where this cast comes in, and this is the fan favorite.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: Everybody loves the cast.
- 37:13SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: So this is what we're going to try and get down.
- 37:16So to not overcomplicate things,
- 37:19by doing that dragon roll,
- 37:20you already learned it.
- 37:21SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 37:22SPEAKER_00: There's nothing new to do.
- 37:23SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 37:23SPEAKER_00: You run the same pendulum.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: Just keep practicing that.
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: The same footwork.
- 37:26SPEAKER_02: Like walking.
- 37:27SPEAKER_00: Like walking.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: You're on the same pendulum, same footwork.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: And then eventually, if you play harder defense, that club's gonna float.
- 37:35SPEAKER_02: Okay, now we're talking.
- 37:36SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna get it by like tomorrow.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: So, if we get that club to float enough, your elbow has to bend.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: And then just like we did with the drag and roll,
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: we pivot and that's what brings the toy around back to the drag.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: Okay?
- 37:50SPEAKER_00: Another way to learn it, more literal, we have position one.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: Position two, scratch your back.
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: Position three, point, just drop.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: One, two, three, drop.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: One, two, three, drop.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: One, two, three.
- 38:07SPEAKER_02: It's not going to be as easy as I think.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: That's the motion we want to get in.
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: And your legs.
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: Don't worry about the footwork too much yet.
- 38:16SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: Just give me those positions.
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: One, two, three.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: And choke up in the beginning.
- 38:22SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: Because it's heavier than it looks.
- 38:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 38:24SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: It's only four pounds.
- 38:27SPEAKER_01: I'm like, how much?
- 38:28SPEAKER_00: This will be the heaviest four pounds.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: All my competitive nature is like blowing out of me right now.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: This is something,
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 38:38I've had the pleasure of working with Olympic gold medal
- 38:41winning athletes.
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: This
- 38:44relationship with competitiveness is something that infatuates
- 38:47me to no end and we
- 38:49all possess it and it surfaces in different ways yeah and no
- 38:52one quite knows what
- 38:53to do with it yeah well because and it's it's i know for damn
- 38:56sure it's like it's
- 38:58always mentally it's like me and myself right like we're always
- 39:02competing with
- 39:02ourselves but then it's like there is something physical that
- 39:05happens in i mean
- 39:07right now i'm not competing against anybody because it feels
- 39:10but you start to
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: But there's something that, yeah, there is something that just stirs up.
- 39:14SPEAKER_02: And it's like, and it's always in a physical environment.
- 39:17Like that's why like with sports and I'm like,
- 39:19I've always been very competitive.
- 39:21That's why we're trying to learn how to communicate so that we
- 39:25can be chilling in
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: this environment.
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: While competitive.
- 39:29SPEAKER_02: Competitively chill?
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: I call it competing but cooperating.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: I'm going to call it competitively chill.
- 39:37SPEAKER_00: Competitively chill.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: But you can call it that because that's your word.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 39:42SPEAKER_02: One.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: Two.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: Two.
- 39:44SPEAKER_00: And then?
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: I forget.
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: Three.
- 39:47SPEAKER_02: Three.
- 39:47SPEAKER_02: Oh, because you said not to think about the feet.
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: That's why we don't have to think about it.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: And then you're going to drag it back across for one.
- 39:55SPEAKER_00: Good.
- 39:55SPEAKER_00: Get to two.
- 39:57SPEAKER_00: Get to three.
- 39:58SPEAKER_00: Drag it back across for one.
- 40:00SPEAKER_00: Get to two.
- 40:02SPEAKER_00: Three.
- 40:02SPEAKER_00: And then keep it rolling.
- 40:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, this one's fun.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: Two.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: Three.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: Good.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: One.
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: Two.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: Three.
- 40:09SPEAKER_00: Keep going.
- 40:09SPEAKER_00: Keep going.
- 40:09SPEAKER_00: Keep going.
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: Keep going.
- 40:11And then you're going to let your hand naturally slide down the
- 40:14grip so that it
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: gets further from the bulb.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: And the further it gets, the harder it is.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: The further the grip gets down, the harder the exercise is.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's fun.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: Good job.
- 40:25SPEAKER_00: So you hear those little beads in there?
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: The goal is to make it silent.
- 40:30SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 40:32oh it's kind of quiet yeah yeah yeah don't worry about it it's
- 40:36gonna tell you all
- 40:37right it makes noises you don't have to think about it it's
- 40:39gonna tell you it
- 40:40speaks up for itself and if you lose alignment at any point in
- 40:44the motion you'll
- 40:44know you're gonna know oh i love that so it gives you immediate
- 40:47feedback to change
- 40:50what you're doing wait that's so sick isn't that nice just like
- 40:53our bodies guys it
- 40:56gives us immediate feedback that's what like what we were
- 40:59talking about with
- 41:00SPEAKER_02: relaxation and stillness
- 41:02SPEAKER_02: You really know if your body's not yelling at you.
- 41:06SPEAKER_00: No.
- 41:07SPEAKER_00: Let's go crazy.
- 41:08SPEAKER_00: Try the left hand.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: I was going to ask if we could switch.
- 41:11SPEAKER_00: Okay, cool.
- 41:11SPEAKER_00: Start with the same drill.
- 41:13SPEAKER_00: Give me one, two, and three.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: Choked up.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 41:18SPEAKER_02: Ground.
- 41:19SPEAKER_00: That's one, two.
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: Scratch your back.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: Three.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: Let it drop.
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: Here we go.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: Here we go.
- 41:31should it not up there i'm gonna as your hand drops down it'll
- 41:36make less it'll make
- 41:37less noise yes do people pick this one up quicker or is this
- 41:42just what it's it's a
- 41:43throwing motion that's a little bit more familiar for a lot of
- 41:47people okay for sure
- 41:48but it's interesting every single person picks up things in a
- 41:52little slight
- 41:53SPEAKER_02: different order sure that makes sense
- 41:57this is fun i could literally do this all day so this is called
- 42:00a cast like like
- 42:01you're casting a fishing lineup okay cast or if you've ever
- 42:06seen goofy movie what
- 42:07does he call it huh that's they do a whole dance oh they do
- 42:11yeah and i recently
- 42:13watched it is why this is on my brain has a new baby yes or he
- 42:17just watched it for
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: fun both she she's too new to watch no screens just yet yeah
- 42:25SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: Wow, this is way fun.
- 42:28SPEAKER_00: All right,
- 42:28SPEAKER_00: so you have two things from the same,
- 42:31SPEAKER_00: and there's a reason I picked these two things for Jordan.
- 42:34SPEAKER_00: So funny.
- 42:35Because I know a little bit about Jordan's background,
- 42:37and I know she likes to play basketball.
- 42:39SPEAKER_00: All right,
- 42:40so the number one position that you're going to see in at least
- 42:4450% of the time
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: when you're playing basketball is this right here.
- 42:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:49So being really confident and competent in this playing is all
- 42:53we were focused on.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: Just in a sneaky way.
- 42:55SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's so true.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah.
- 42:57SPEAKER_00: All right, so exactly.
- 42:59SPEAKER_02: But I'm gonna just be standing there like this now.
- 43:01SPEAKER_00: And that's the hope, is we wanna connect it all together.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: The craziest things to basketball to walking around.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Totally.
- 43:09We wanna have one practice,
- 43:11not three,
- 43:12because that's convoluting,
- 43:14not relaxing.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: We want one practice.
- 43:17SPEAKER_00: That way, everything that we're doing is running towards the same goal.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: It's got pressure in one direction.
- 43:22Because everything's interconnected,
- 43:23so having the one just applied everywhere.
- 43:25SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: That's the mission.
- 43:27So I wanted Jordan to be able to walk out of here differently
- 43:30than she walked in,
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: be able to have some fun and a target when she's playing basketball,
- 43:36and get some new fun toys in her hand that she can really
- 43:39utilize and bring to life
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: some of the awesome practices that she puts in her books.
- 43:45SPEAKER_00: Handstand?
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: Last up.
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: All right, and this one is going to be a fun one.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: All right, now, handstand.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: All right, in ISO world, this is upside down standing, right?
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: Upside down standing.
- 43:59SPEAKER_00: Yep, the way that we're going to learn this is standing straight up.
- 44:02SPEAKER_00: That's where we're going to be exactly.
- 44:04SPEAKER_00: This is a handstand.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: All right, the key in the hand is maintaining structural integrity.
- 44:09SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: How are we going to know you have structural integrity?
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: Those targets and indicators.
- 44:13SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: So if you remember all the way back from walking,
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: we had three major cues,
- 44:17SPEAKER_00: three areas to focus on your feet,
- 44:19SPEAKER_00: your hips,
- 44:19SPEAKER_00: your spine.
- 44:20SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: So we're going to go right back to those focuses.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: So we have your weight shifting forward to the front half of your feet.
- 44:26SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: We have your hips shifting forward over your feet.
- 44:29SPEAKER_00: We have your thoracic spine right behind your heart pushing forward.
- 44:32SPEAKER_00: Try and get it a little further to my hand.
- 44:34SPEAKER_00: Lean into it a little bit.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, lean.
- 44:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:36SPEAKER_00: So hips keep leaning forward.
- 44:38SPEAKER_00: Oh my God.
- 44:38SPEAKER_00: Spine keeps leaning forward.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: I'm going to fall over.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 44:41SPEAKER_00: Your brain's telling you you're going to fall.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: Oh, right.
- 44:44SPEAKER_00: But you're right here.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: Totally.
- 44:46SPEAKER_00: And then the other thing is, do you feel your core turn on?
- 44:48SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: That's what we needed.
- 44:51SPEAKER_00: So that target tissue,
- 44:52SPEAKER_00: that core work,
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: like you felt in the rope,
- 44:54SPEAKER_00: tells us what's going on inside.
- 44:56SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 44:57And then your arm should have felt light and buoyant,
- 45:00very free to come up.
- 45:01SPEAKER_02: They wanted to.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: Yes, invited.
- 45:03SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 45:04So that invitation is important because if you go upside down
- 45:07on those hands and
- 45:08SPEAKER_00: they're not invited into this position,
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: your body's going to be pissed off.
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: There's no chance that you're getting that handstand.
- 45:13SPEAKER_00: I don't want to do that.
- 45:14SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 45:14SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 45:15SPEAKER_00: All right, now relax, shake off.
- 45:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: Do this thing.
- 45:19SPEAKER_00: With my version of it.
- 45:21SPEAKER_00: We're going to cheat into it now.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 45:23SPEAKER_00: Or I call this rebuild.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 45:25SPEAKER_00: We're going to build it backwards, okay?
- 45:26SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 45:27SPEAKER_00: So what I want you to do is start from that overhead standing position.
- 45:30SPEAKER_00: Then you're going to hinge and drop your hands down to the floor.
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: And then I'm going to take care of the rest from there.
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: So that you can find those targets upside down.
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: All right,
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: now you're going to pick one leg,
- 45:40SPEAKER_00: any leg,
- 45:40SPEAKER_00: whichever one you're more confident with,
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: pop that leg up into the air for me.
- 45:43SPEAKER_00: There we go.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: Do what?
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: All right,
- 45:45SPEAKER_00: so now I want you to get a little bend in this right knee here,
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: if you didn't already,
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: and you're going to hop up with me.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: I'm going to hold you up so you don't have to worry about it yet.
- 45:53SPEAKER_02: My hands want to move forward.
- 45:54SPEAKER_00: That's okay.
- 45:55SPEAKER_00: That's okay.
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: You can shift them forward a little bit.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: And whatever gets you confident to pop up.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: Go ahead.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 46:01SPEAKER_00: Now, remember the cues that we learned?
- 46:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: Let's practice it.
- 46:05SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: And now the harder you do it, the more buoyant you get until eventually.
- 46:11SPEAKER_00: This is perfect.
- 46:14SPEAKER_00: Work, mama, work.
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: T-spine drives through.
- 46:16SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 46:16SPEAKER_00: Good job.
- 46:17SPEAKER_00: That's a handstand.
- 46:19SPEAKER_00: Run your cues going down so you catch yourself.
- 46:23SPEAKER_00: That was perfect.
- 46:24SPEAKER_01: Did I do it?
- 46:24Did you feel yourself pop out of your body like that when you
- 46:27run your cues through?
- 46:29SPEAKER_00: Did you feel how you had structure to get away from the floor?
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 46:32SPEAKER_00: Well,
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: because when you said to the leaning forward,
- 46:36SPEAKER_02: that made more sense because then my body was like,
- 46:38SPEAKER_02: oh,
- 46:38SPEAKER_02: syncing up with each other itself.
- 46:41SPEAKER_02: Everything was syncing.
- 46:42SPEAKER_00: The essential axis.
- 46:43SPEAKER_00: The essential axis came online.
- 46:45SPEAKER_00: I felt it going more.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 46:47SPEAKER_00: That's all you need to be able to get your hands down.
- 46:49Okay,
- 46:50because I'll practice sometimes on my own and sometimes I can
- 46:53do it and sometimes not.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's an axis, meaning sometimes you get lucky to find it.
- 46:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:57SPEAKER_00: But in ISO world, we want to be able to find it efficiently.
- 47:00SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 47:01SPEAKER_02: So my question is,
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: because when practicing,
- 47:05SPEAKER_02: because obviously,
- 47:06SPEAKER_02: so it's like,
- 47:07SPEAKER_02: I'm like,
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: so I'll practice with both legs just to feel it.
- 47:10SPEAKER_02: But I'm wondering, should I be pressuring, like, my...
- 47:18nothing with the shoulders ever just like with the rope right
- 47:21like the middle part
- 47:22here like extended so it's the same if i really think about
- 47:26walking like standing
- 47:27like i really literally upside down standing literally i think
- 47:29that's why i need
- 47:30nothing different i want to try again go you go i'm not going
- 47:33to help you yeah
- 47:34don't but will you can you give correction like all i want you
- 47:38to think about all i
- 47:39SPEAKER_00: want you to think about yeah is ride your cues okay into an exhale okay
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: Ride your cues into your exhale.
- 47:49SPEAKER_00: I'll make sure you don't go over.
- 47:51SPEAKER_02: Well, I can catch myself if I go over.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: That was great.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: That was great.
- 47:54SPEAKER_02: I think I'm more nervous with you standing close.
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: Go exhale.
- 47:57SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I'm going to kick him.
- 47:57SPEAKER_00: Go exhale.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: Cues.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: Beautiful.
- 48:01SPEAKER_00: Beautiful.
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: Can you flip it back?
- 48:03SPEAKER_00: I can stand up.
- 48:07SPEAKER_00: You're there.
- 48:08SPEAKER_00: You're there.
- 48:10SPEAKER_00: What you need is a little bit of strength in that overhead structure,
- 48:15SPEAKER_00: not strength in a muscle,
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: not strength in a body part.
- 48:18SPEAKER_00: We need strength in that structure.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: What builds strength in a structure is repeated failure.
- 48:27basically right so not necessarily repetition but more so
- 48:32building toward a new
- 48:34structure so if you think about think about the my little baby
- 48:37i just gave you
- 48:38right yeah how does she start off on her back right right and
- 48:41then she rolls over
- 48:42to her belly and then she gets her limbs underneath her and
- 48:45then she starts working
- 48:46SPEAKER_02: her head up like right wow this baby is gonna have the best form on earth
- 48:53no she's gonna be the freest lady on earth that's all i'm going
- 48:57for that's true
- 48:58freedom no no she's gonna be the most aligned lady no no rules
- 49:02all all options all
- 49:03open doors beautiful so it's it's the building toward the next
- 49:08thing that allows
- 49:10structural integrity in the previous okay so when i teach
- 49:13handstands i don't teach
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: you guys i don't teach people to hold them
- 49:17i teach them as soon as we can find what you that buoyancy that
- 49:20you found in there
- 49:21yeah once you have that the handstand is unlocked okay it's
- 49:24already done okay now
- 49:26it's about understanding to move through that buoyancy so think
- 49:30more handstand
- 49:31walking yeah then then stick the handstand okay what do you
- 49:35think it is about
- 49:35SPEAKER_02: society that handstands are attributed or associated with holdings
- 49:41just like the quantifiable the quantifiable nature of it it's
- 49:45it's scored in
- 49:46gymnastics it's we see it in the olympics we see it growing up
- 49:49oh interesting
- 49:50answer yeah it's quantifiable interesting but we could all be
- 49:55walking around doing
- 49:56in our handstands we wouldn't gloves would be the new shoes i
- 50:03told you this gets
- 50:04SPEAKER_00: this gets like semi conspiracy semi it's like it gets
- 50:08SPEAKER_02: Well, because that makes so much sense.
- 50:10SPEAKER_00: Socioeconomical and industrial.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 50:13SPEAKER_00: Very quickly,
- 50:14SPEAKER_00: you start to realize,
- 50:15SPEAKER_00: oh,
- 50:16SPEAKER_00: people make a lot of money the way things are right now,
- 50:18SPEAKER_00: like shoes,
- 50:19SPEAKER_00: for example.
- 50:20SPEAKER_02: Now I'm going to expand on that with you,
- 50:22SPEAKER_02: if you'd be so kind,
- 50:24SPEAKER_02: because it drives me crazy when people
- 50:27focus on oh people make money doing this so that's why this
- 50:31won't change blah blah
- 50:32blah it's like but everything is changing constantly and
- 50:35there's always going to be
- 50:36new ways to make money anyway so what do you think it is that
- 50:40people get so hung up
- 50:42on thinking that things won't change because of money as if
- 50:45things aren't always
- 50:46SPEAKER_02: changing regardless and money is always circulating and to be made the um
- 50:52it's like a victim it's like a victimization excuse okay it's
- 50:56it's you always have
- 50:57that lovely i could have more money and therefore things would
- 51:01be easier sure
- 51:02SPEAKER_00: option in life yeah yeah yeah and i think the a big part
- 51:09I don't have a lot of struggle with that conversation because I
- 51:12didn't grow up with money.
- 51:13SPEAKER_00: And then when I went to school,
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: I went to a private school because I had a scholarship for football.
- 51:18SPEAKER_00: And then I started to see that balance and be like, what?
- 51:22People use money as a reason in order to affirm whatever biases
- 51:28that they're
- 51:28SPEAKER_00: currently existing in,
- 51:29SPEAKER_00: whether that's having too much or too little.
- 51:32SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: And either way,
- 51:34SPEAKER_00: it's a really low hanging fruit,
- 51:36SPEAKER_00: really easy excuse to be a victim of your whatever the situation is.
- 51:40SPEAKER_02: And it's interesting that it's on both ends of the spectrum.
- 51:43SPEAKER_00: It doesn't matter which end.
- 51:45SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 51:45SPEAKER_02: And even in the middle, it's just we've created a culture that that.
- 51:51has honestly an unproductive view of money because money is a
- 51:57tool and it can be
- 52:00used in its abundant nature that because it is a product of our
- 52:05creation and we are
- 52:06abundant everything is abundant because abundant just is the
- 52:08way embodiment just is
- 52:09SPEAKER_02: and stillness just is when you connect with
- 52:13SPEAKER_02: your innermost workings,
- 52:15which then circles again forward to that abundant way of being
- 52:18a rotational
- 52:19SPEAKER_02: movement,
- 52:19SPEAKER_02: staying in alignment,
- 52:20SPEAKER_02: all of the things that we've been talking about.
- 52:22SPEAKER_02: So if we just apply it to money, then
- 52:25everybody would be making more and things could more naturally
- 52:27actually change for
- 52:28SPEAKER_02: the better and not be victimized or blamed or excused.
- 52:33SPEAKER_00: You can find your value faster.
- 52:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:35SPEAKER_00: Communicate more clearly and therefore use that to your advantage.
- 52:39SPEAKER_02: Beautiful.
- 52:40SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 52:40SPEAKER_02: So cool.
- 52:42SPEAKER_02: One more handstand and then we call it.
- 52:43SPEAKER_00: One more handstand.
- 52:44SPEAKER_00: We're out of here.
- 52:45SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 52:45SPEAKER_00: Let's see it.
- 52:49SPEAKER_00: Get up in there.
- 52:49SPEAKER_00: I was close there.
- 52:51SPEAKER_00: What happened?
- 52:52SPEAKER_00: I want one exhale and one aggressive push for your cues.
- 52:55SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 52:58You're getting to that point,
- 52:59but then do you feel yourself slowly tipping immediately?
- 53:01SPEAKER_02: Well, it's one or the other.
- 53:03SPEAKER_02: Sometimes I go forward, sometimes I go back.
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: Feel of that axis.
- 53:07SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 53:07SPEAKER_00: It's a feel of that axis.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: So once you zip into that axis,
- 53:11you'll feel yourself delay or float before you go one direction
- 53:16or the other.
- 53:16SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 53:17and then you get good at recognizing that delay that float yeah
- 53:21it's the same
- 53:21buoyancy we've been speaking about the whole time okay let's do
- 53:25this yes yes did
- 53:29you see how you started walking yes that's what i was talking
- 53:32about so that flow
- 53:35that float allowed you to walk in it okay and all of a sudden
- 53:39you stayed on that
- 53:40SPEAKER_00: axis and it just
- 53:44SPEAKER_02: So can, selfishly, can I practice just like walking on handstands then?
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: I would skip to walking on handstands.
- 53:52SPEAKER_00: There's not a lot of value in static handstands.
- 53:55SPEAKER_02: Right, that's what I mean.
- 53:56SPEAKER_00: I would skip to walking and then most importantly,
- 54:00SPEAKER_00: you're entering the handstands from various positions.
- 54:05SPEAKER_00: Entering from, so the classic handstand entry.
- 54:09SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 54:09SPEAKER_02: But so like when I do a cartwheel, that's the same thing.
- 54:11SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 54:12SPEAKER_02: Like if I stopped in the middle, that's a handstand.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: Exit, yes, exactly.
- 54:15SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 54:15SPEAKER_00: Finding entries and exits from different positions.
- 54:18SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 54:18So that your brain is recognizing opportunity more than it is a
- 54:21still position.
- 54:23SPEAKER_02: That's so cool.
- 54:24SPEAKER_02: Recognizing, say that again for everyone.
- 54:26So that your brain is recognizing opportunity instead of a
- 54:30still position,
- 54:31SPEAKER_00: instead of a static state.
- 54:32SPEAKER_02: Beautiful.
- 54:33SPEAKER_02: Because then that will be externalized into your life.
- 54:35SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 54:36SPEAKER_02: Hell yeah.
- 54:37SPEAKER_02: High five.
- 54:38SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much.
- 54:39SPEAKER_02: Thank you for having me in ISO World.
- 54:43SPEAKER_02: We had the puppy, the baby.
- 54:44SPEAKER_02: Almost patient.
- 54:45SPEAKER_02: The baby didn't make it on screen.
- 54:46SPEAKER_00: Almost patient boy.
- 54:48SPEAKER_02: Very good.
- 54:50SPEAKER_00: He's been so good since the baby.
- 54:53SPEAKER_02: Thanks for visiting ISO World.
- 54:55SPEAKER_02: That's it.
- 54:57SPEAKER_02: We'll see you next Thursday.
- 54:58SPEAKER_02: From my planet to yours.
- 55:00SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Jordan.
