- 0:00Speaker 1: I could make it up and you wouldn't know. It's
- 0:01Speaker 1: one more thing I'm strong and getty. Before I get
- 0:09Speaker 1: to that, I have to tell this story because it's
- 0:14Speaker 1: a little well, it's definitely it's sophomore, because it's coming
- 0:18Speaker 1: from freshman in high school. And I don't want to
- 0:23Speaker 1: tell it on the radio. So I'm at the airport
- 0:26Speaker 1: the other day, what a week or so ago, my
- 0:29Speaker 1: son's little birthday trip with him and two of his
- 0:31Speaker 1: other fifteen year old high school boy friends. We're going
- 0:36Speaker 1: through security and one of his friends gets pulled out
- 0:41Speaker 1: of the line because something showed up on the little
- 0:48Speaker 1: radar there, thing in his crotch area, and they showed
- 0:51Speaker 1: they had the screen there. It was like right in
- 0:54Speaker 1: his crotch area and they had to feel him up
- 0:58Speaker 1: and everything like that, and he said because he is
- 1:02Speaker 1: a high school boy to his friends when he got
- 1:04Speaker 1: away from the line, it's because I'm massive.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Which made me laugh. It was just such a yis
- 1:13Speaker 2: I'm a fifteen year old boy? Things?
- 1:20Speaker 3: Yes, yes, that the universe can continue spinning. Everyone has
- 1:24Speaker 3: played their role, and I thought there has been somebody
- 1:28Speaker 3: roughly that age make that sort of joke since human
- 1:31Speaker 3: beings have been able to communicate if somebody got an
- 1:34Speaker 3: extra pat down entering the Roman Colisseum thousands of years ago,
- 1:38Speaker 3: he made the same joke, right, yes, and the Katie
- 1:47Speaker 3: and all the women there at the Colosseum rolled their
- 1:50Speaker 3: eyes and thought, what an idiot. Right, nothing has changed.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Human nature does not change.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Oh jeez. Even his friends rolled their eyes.
- 2:02Speaker 3: As they must again, and the dance of the universe continues.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I'm not going to go through this list of TV shows.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I just thought it was kind of funny that in
- 2:12Speaker 1: the Life section of USA Today it mentions the ten
- 2:16Speaker 1: best streaming series on you know, on all your different
- 2:23Speaker 1: streaming Amazon, Netflix, all the different things.
- 2:26Speaker 3: I am watching. I believe two hot shows right now,
- 2:29Speaker 3: so I'm hoping they're on the list.
- 2:31Speaker 2: So you would know better than me.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But I was my intro as I could make it
- 2:34Speaker 1: up and you wouldn't know a lot of these titles.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I feel like I could make up a title and say, oh,
- 2:39Speaker 1: you haven't seen that, it's fantastic, and you wouldn't know
- 2:41Speaker 1: because there's just so many damn shows out there.
- 2:44Speaker 3: It's like Kentucky, Derby Horse or Yeah or what was
- 2:48Speaker 3: the positive Sean used to do this, ben or horror
- 2:52Speaker 3: movie or I can't really something like that.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Like are you watching The Last Anniversary on Sun Dance,
- 2:59Speaker 1: No sir? Or Pulse on Netflix, No sir. The Bondsman
- 3:03Speaker 1: on Amazon Prime, never heard of it. Friends and Neighbors
- 3:06Speaker 1: on Apple TV shows. According to the critic, these are
- 3:10Speaker 1: the best shows on all of television.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And they probably are.
- 3:12Speaker 3: They're probably freaking great, Katie Friends and Neighbors. You know
- 3:16Speaker 3: that one? No, I said that was fake?
- 3:18Speaker 1: Oh the last of us I've heard of. That's got
- 3:24Speaker 1: Pedro Pascal, who was the Mandalorian. He was now in
- 3:28Speaker 1: everything all the time. I saw an interview with him
- 3:31Speaker 1: where he came off as a dick and I didn't
- 3:33Speaker 1: like him. So now I have no interest in watching
- 3:35Speaker 1: anything with him because I find him so unpalatable.
- 3:37Speaker 3: And that poor gal what's her name, we got fired
- 3:39Speaker 3: for expressing, you right light sympathy toward not far left communism.
- 3:45Speaker 3: What's her name?
- 3:45Speaker 2: Gina uh Corano? Corano?
- 3:51Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well, well correct that if it's not right,
- 3:54Speaker 3: but yeah, god bless her man. Did she get screwed
- 3:56Speaker 3: by the Marxists?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Anyway? A bunch of other shows on here that you've
- 3:59Speaker 2: never heard of that. I'm that are i''m sure are
- 4:01Speaker 2: Actually you gotta.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Keep going, you gotta keep going. I gotta see if
- 4:04Speaker 3: my shows are on there.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Okay, I'm sure they're actually fantastic.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Uh.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Do you watch What Makes a Good Friend?
- 4:13Speaker 3: No? Never heard of it?
- 4:15Speaker 2: And or.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Oh wait a minute, I'm Disney season two of and
- 4:21Speaker 1: or it's a it's a Star Wars series.
- 4:23Speaker 3: You it's supposed to be horrible.
- 4:25Speaker 2: You is on its final season. I actually watched some
- 4:28Speaker 2: of that on our final season.
- 4:32Speaker 3: You yo you.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a serial killer, nut job and as a
- 4:36Speaker 1: pretty good show.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I watched like the first season or so see that. Yes,
- 4:40Speaker 2: I saw that first season.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Oh it was troubling, but it didn't keep me around
- 4:44Speaker 1: poker face mm hmmm, over compensating.
- 4:50Speaker 2: That's on all of these Sirens on Netflix.
- 4:55Speaker 3: I've heard of that one.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Also premiering this spring, Wolf Hall, which I never read
- 4:59Speaker 1: the book, so it mind watching the series just because
- 5:01Speaker 1: I'm really into the old timey English stuff. Hands Made
- 5:06Speaker 1: Tale final season on Hulu in April. Hacks on Cinemax
- 5:11Speaker 1: Doctor Who, which is a reboot.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I guess is that what's going on there?
- 5:15Speaker 3: It reboots every few years and Murder James Bond.
- 5:18Speaker 2: So none of your shows. None of your show So
- 5:21Speaker 2: what are your shows that you're watching.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I'm I'm way too late to the party to get
- 5:26Speaker 3: on the hipster list. I think Judy and I are
- 5:29Speaker 3: watching the exactly exactly Saved by the Bell. Uh we're
- 5:38Speaker 3: watching I think is it The Fabulous Gemstones, Gemstones, the
- 5:44Speaker 3: something or other Gemstones. It's on Max John Goodman as
- 5:48Speaker 3: the head of a televangelist family that are all crooks
- 5:51Speaker 3: and pervs and immocrats.
- 5:53Speaker 2: It is so entertaining. That's a good premise.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And most of these shows I mentioned here are giant
- 5:58Speaker 1: stars in them, like really stars.
- 6:01Speaker 3: And then I'm watching a solo because Judy kind of
- 6:04Speaker 3: lost interest. It wasn't her vibe Severance, which is the weird,
- 6:08Speaker 3: eerie science fictiony you know, high tech company that makes
- 6:15Speaker 3: you put a chip in your brain so your outside
- 6:18Speaker 3: self is totally unaware of your inside self and vice versa.
- 6:21Speaker 1: And you know what the show I just got into
- 6:26Speaker 1: and I am I think fifteen years behind or a
- 6:29Speaker 1: decade behind or something like that. Henry got onto it
- 6:32Speaker 1: and now he wants me to watch episodes with him
- 6:33Speaker 1: because he really really likes it Hell's Kitchen with Gordon Ramsey.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Ever watch it? You ever watch any of that? Every
- 6:39Speaker 2: single it's pretty well put together.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, even with all my cynicism about those
- 6:45Speaker 1: kind of shows, it's pretty good.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I have a T shirt with Gordon Ramsey and it
- 6:49Speaker 4: just says where's.
- 6:50Speaker 2: The lamb sauce? When he gets so he's a do
- 6:56Speaker 2: you know much about this shoe?
- 6:58Speaker 1: Ah?
- 6:58Speaker 3: It's enough to yeah.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Very famous chef he was. He was voted best Chef
- 7:03Speaker 1: in England nine years in a row. I mean he's
- 7:04Speaker 1: a really big deal's chef and he opened.
- 7:08Speaker 3: The English famously don't know how to cook back too.
- 7:11Speaker 1: He opened some a Hell's Kitchen. I don't remember where.
- 7:13Speaker 1: The first one was the United States. I think at
- 7:15Speaker 1: LA and they're only eight of them in the country
- 7:17Speaker 1: and I ate it the one in Washington, d C.
- 7:19Speaker 1: When I was there with my kids because it was
- 7:21Speaker 1: the only place I could find a reservation. Also the
- 7:22Speaker 1: most expensive meal I've ever eaten in my life. But
- 7:25Speaker 1: it was very very good, with lots of yelling going
- 7:28Speaker 1: on in the kitchen. It's kind of like the TV show.
- 7:30Speaker 1: But he had a reputation for very very high quality
- 7:35Speaker 1: in a gazillion mission and stars and all this sort
- 7:37Speaker 1: of stuff, and he wants each restaurant to be to
- 7:40Speaker 1: live up to his standard. He doesn't want it to be,
- 7:44Speaker 1: you know, just the name, but not as good a quality.
- 7:47Speaker 1: And so he's really really hard on these people. And
- 7:50Speaker 1: one of the reasons that makes this seem like it
- 7:52Speaker 1: could be somewhat real is that the prize is so
- 7:55Speaker 1: big the at least the first season we're watching. The
- 7:58Speaker 1: prize is it you get the restaurant. You're gonna run
- 8:01Speaker 1: this restaurant if you win the competition, because otherwise you
- 8:06Speaker 1: would think the way he yells at everybody and treats him,
- 8:08Speaker 1: you just think you'd say f you and walk out
- 8:10Speaker 1: of there. I'm not going to listen to you. But
- 8:12Speaker 1: if you're gonna end up with, you know, a very
- 8:15Speaker 1: very famous restaurant that you're running, and you want to
- 8:17Speaker 1: be a ship for your whole life, you might.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Put up quite a bit of crap from Gordon Ramsey.
- 8:22Speaker 4: One guy did One guy did lose it on him.
- 8:25Speaker 4: I can't remember what season, but he takes his chef
- 8:27Speaker 4: coat off and he gets two inches away from Gordon's
- 8:29Speaker 4: face and it's like, you want to go outside, who's
- 8:31Speaker 4: from Boston. Well, take this outside.
- 8:34Speaker 2: I can see.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Getting there because he's such a dick to these people. Yeah,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you're shit, You are shit. That's what your problem is.
- 8:42Speaker 1: You are shit.
- 8:44Speaker 3: I'll say. Yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 4: He took a piece of bread in each hand and
- 8:48Speaker 4: he slammed it on either side of a guy's face
- 8:50Speaker 4: and called him an idiot.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Sandwich.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Wow. So a couple of thoughts. First of all, it's
- 8:58Speaker 3: very much like the premise of The Bear that the
- 9:01Speaker 3: guy the main guy, and that came out of a
- 9:04Speaker 3: kitchen like that just messed with his head and he
- 9:07Speaker 3: doesn't know how to deal with people in a normal
- 9:09Speaker 3: way now. But Jack, I know you hate that sort
- 9:13Speaker 3: of coaching style or leadership style. Is it tough to
- 9:16Speaker 3: take or is it so over the top it's entertaining.
- 9:20Speaker 1: So I had a friend who went to culinary school
- 9:22Speaker 1: to be a chef years ago, and that was where
- 9:25Speaker 1: I was introduced to the idea that chefs are so mean.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I don't know how that ended up as a culture,
- 9:30Speaker 1: but it's the culture. Chefs are just mean, And it's
- 9:34Speaker 1: kind of like a real status this It comes with
- 9:39Speaker 1: the job. You're a chef, so you get to beat
- 9:41Speaker 1: a real jerk to people. Other industries aren't like that.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I mean they talk about it, you know, fast moving
- 9:46Speaker 1: and high pressure. Well, I'm sure, but so are lots
- 9:50Speaker 1: of industries, and it's not like well known that if
- 9:52Speaker 1: you're the head air traffic control er you get to
- 9:54Speaker 1: call everybody in an a hole or stuff like that, start
- 9:57Speaker 1: around and treat them poorly no matter what, and they
- 10:00Speaker 1: have to put up with it for some reason. In
- 10:01Speaker 1: the restaurant business, it's just a thing, and if you're
- 10:05Speaker 1: a lower level you just get belittled constantly. Uh So,
- 10:10Speaker 1: it's it's it's you know, fairly accurate. From that standpoint,
- 10:13Speaker 1: I would I could never work in the circumstance where
- 10:16Speaker 1: I'm getting yelled at like that all the time.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Another great Gordon oh yeah, another great Gordon Ramsay series
- 10:22Speaker 4: is a Hell's Kitchen or not Hell's Kitchen, I'm sorry,
- 10:24Speaker 4: Kitchen Nightmares, where he actually he goes around to restaurants
- 10:28Speaker 4: in the country and that are awful, and he goes
- 10:31Speaker 4: through revamps their menu, redecorates their restaurant and all that.
- 10:34Speaker 4: But when he's discovering how bad they are, it's hysterically funny.
- 10:38Speaker 2: He's like sitting at the table.
- 10:39Speaker 4: He's just spitting into a trash cab.
- 10:41Speaker 2: This is garbage.
- 10:42Speaker 1: I could I could see liking that because he's he's
- 10:44Speaker 1: a he's an entertaining personality. Yeah, but when he when
- 10:46Speaker 1: he tries people's food there at the restaurant and then
- 10:49Speaker 1: he just takes a plate and he shoves it in
- 10:51Speaker 1: their chest and their white tunic or whatever.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Yeah, we may have to try that. I don't know.
- 10:58Speaker 3: We prefer the more mellow and kind vibe of beating
- 11:02Speaker 3: Bobby Flay.
- 11:03Speaker 2: God. Henry was last we.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Show period, but it's been a long time.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I am.
- 11:10Speaker 1: It is kind of interesting though, those those super expensive restaurants,
- 11:13Speaker 1: how they get everything out of the kitchen at a
- 11:16Speaker 1: really high quality and hot and like in less than
- 11:19Speaker 1: you know, an hour later or something.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Is quite amazing.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 11:24Speaker 1: But uh, I guess that's why they charge so much
- 11:26Speaker 1: for it. It's just it's a lot like American Iley.
- 11:31Speaker 1: You get down to you got two teams competing against
- 11:33Speaker 1: each other, and then you get to the end and
- 11:34Speaker 1: one team has to eliminate somebody and you know the
- 11:36Speaker 1: whole thing.
- 11:37Speaker 4: But what is charming is there's a also a cooking
- 11:41Speaker 4: show he does with kids, and there's been YouTube videos
- 11:44Speaker 4: where it's a it's a contrast between Gordon Ramsey with
- 11:47Speaker 4: adults and Gordon Ramsey with kids, and it just goes
- 11:49Speaker 4: from him cussing somebody out to like helping a little
- 11:52Speaker 4: girl get a heavy pan off the stove.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I love that guy.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You're just a giant lump of uselessness. Why are you
- 12:00Speaker 1: even here?
- 12:02Speaker 3: The idiot sandwich is a nice dush.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Well. I guess that's it.
