- 0:02podcast. Woo.
- 0:05Whoa. I never, I never realized how
- 0:10much easier my life would be when I don't have to anticipate
- 0:12these crazy sounds in between our woos.
- 0:17It's. Just on the throat go.
- 0:18It's not here. Like we, we do it to ourselves.
- 0:24At this point I know. Ohhhhh God, you just.
- 0:28Gotta embrace it at a certain. Point seriously?
- 0:31I mean, I mean our discord members do love that nickname.
- 0:35I love it, way less so. I think if anyone should be
- 0:41upset about it, it's probably it should be Kevin, and he loves
- 0:44it, so yeah. Sure you like he.
- 0:47He goes beyond owning it. Welcome in one and all to Bangor
- 0:53Management, the Fantasy Hockey Podcast with Jake, Josh and the
- 0:59ghost of Kevin's past. That sounds really bleak.
- 1:03He's yeah, he's fine. He's absolutely fine.
- 1:08Absolutely fine, but legend has it that what happened is that he
- 1:14asked his girlfriend to enter into a throttle situation with
- 1:18Scott Wedgewood and she said no, and now he's in the doghouse.
- 1:22So he's trying to make it up to her all weekend and he's
- 1:25therefore missing a recording for the first time.
- 1:29Yeah, that's, uh, that is exactly what I was told as well.
- 1:33Exactly. So yeah, I mean it's it's.
- 1:40Most girls don't want some outside wood entering the
- 1:42relationship, you know. You know, she said something of
- 1:49like the, the, the line of, like I said, pine Catan Port, you
- 1:52know, or something. She's going to get very mad at
- 1:57me for speaking French. Yeah.
- 2:00Good for it and I love that I. Did I did.
- 2:04But the audacity to ask that. Like, I know he thinks he's
- 2:06gonna overtake Blackwood, but to go this far?
- 2:11Seriously. Big time.
- 2:13Big time. Yikes.
- 2:14Yeah, yeah. So anywho, today we are doing
- 2:20our Week 4 streamers episode. If you like what you were about
- 2:26to hear, which I anticipate that you will.

- 2:55not. Here.
- 2:55What's the opposite of dat cord discord?
- 3:00Nice. Yeah, definitely, definitely
- 3:07don't follow us on Daccord because that.
- 3:09Is not exist. Discord is the place to be.
- 3:15And yeah, I think that's about it.
- 3:18Radius, five stars, the whole shamang.
- 3:20I guess I'm throwing off my rhythm without without Kevin's
- 3:23woo. It's just like.
- 3:25It really sets. Them up with the.
- 3:27Nerves. Yeah, seriously.
- 3:29OK, maybe the next one I'll throw you off.
- 3:30We'll see. Yeah, please go on your toes of
- 3:33it honestly. So, yeah.
- 3:35So let's begin with our. We roast.
- 3:39It's true, yeah. We.
- 3:40Didn't roast them enough? Yeah, what do you got?
- 3:46I've What's the difference? What did?
- 3:49No, wait, you know, this is a classic.
- 3:53I have the punchline, but I can't think of the the question.
- 3:56Um, anyways, I'm just gonna go with Kevin is the classic.
- 4:02He's the GOAT of hyping up his guys and then they end up on
- 4:05the. Waiver wire a week later.
- 4:06Like he will convince himself and try to convince us he'll
- 4:11fail, but he'll try to convince us that the guy he picked 19th
- 4:14round is the new coming of Jesus Christ himself.
- 4:16And you know, Jesus walked on water, this guy's walking on
- 4:19ice. So yeah.
- 4:21And next thing you know, he's on the way wire and Kevin's like, I
- 4:24was never that into him anyways. It was just a joke.
- 4:26You know he's trying to trade him to you.
- 4:29Exactly, exactly that. Billy Corvin and poster.
- 4:32That that's exactly. What season isn't looking so?
- 4:35He was hyping him up so much. He's like, Oh my God, he's the
- 4:38best. He's power play one.
- 4:39He's the GOAT. I I will say, though, that I, I
- 4:44think I savaged him enough with our Scott Wedgewood theory, but
- 4:46but to be fair, he's he's dealt with a lot of injuries this
- 4:49year. Not yeah.
- 4:51Them personally like he's fine. Once again, like Kevin is fine.
- 4:55OK, yeah, locked up in Jake's basement with Morgan Riley.
- 4:58OK, They're both fine. It's an awful coincidence that
- 5:02Riley is day-to-day and Kevin's missing.
- 5:05But you know what? I'm gonna trust Jackie on this
- 5:08one. No, no, he's good.
- 5:10He's good, I swear. All right.
- 5:13Let's begin with our Week 3 choices for the waiver wire
- 5:18picks, our reputations. Takes 3, Reputation 3, here's
- 5:22top three, whatever you wanna call it.
- 5:23So our top 3-4 last week, just so you guys can follow along and
- 5:28see, you know, it's good to prove that what we've been doing
- 5:31has been shown results instead of just saying it every week.
- 5:34So, so yeah. So what we've got is first, Nick
- 5:37Schmaltz. This is one of the biggest W's
- 5:40in the history of our waiver wire recommendations.
- 5:43The fact that the fact that he was able to be on the waiver
- 5:45wire show last week means that he was under 40% owned.
- 5:48And if you tracked recently, but he's at like 80% owned.
- 5:51So it's actually insane. He put up since our last
- 5:55episode, 2 goals, 4 assists, 6 points, huge W for us.
- 5:58And we had a whole, a whole talk about how good he is.
- 6:02So we don't have to go into that, but just shows that we
- 6:04know we're talking about 75% of the time we were right 100% of
- 6:08the time. Well, good.
- 6:11Then. To the next one, we've got Leo
- 6:13Carlson. This is Jake.
- 6:15He's a favorite from back in the day.
- 6:18OK, last year, one goal, one assist, 2 points.
- 6:21Not as exciting as Nick Schmaltz, but you know what?
- 6:23I'll take that any day of the week.
- 6:24He was also putting up good shots, good faceoff wins, and
- 6:26he's another season long hold. So another big W for us not to
- 6:30just keep patting ourselves on the back, but you know, the
- 6:32results speak for themselves. And lastly, but not leastly,
- 6:35although I guess it is leastly, of these three, we've got Jason
- 6:38Zucker, one goal, 0 at one point.
- 6:41Not the most exciting. I'm still counting it as a W
- 6:44Sabres have actually been really good since we spoke about the
- 6:48Sabres last week. They've gone on, I think they've
- 6:51won four of their last five and they're looking really exciting.
- 6:55And Zuckers locked onto that power play one.
- 6:57He's getting you almost a double double and he's getting you the
- 6:59power those power play points. So, So yeah, all of those are
- 7:02guys that I'm happy to hold on to long-term.
- 7:04Yeah, We have a really, really sophisticated metric this year.
- 7:08Like we ran the numbers, did all the calculations.
- 7:12We even like brought in an actuary and like a a physicist
- 7:16to determine this. And we've come up with a great
- 7:19nomenclature called was it a good pickup?
- 7:22Yes. But the good is in quotation
- 7:24marks. So that is how we're determining
- 7:28a double or an L this year. Yeah.
- 7:31Because last year we would do, did the guy get at least two
- 7:34points over the course of the week?
- 7:36And yes, that's more objective, but that doesn't take into
- 7:38account all the other info that's going on, all the back
- 7:42cats, all the, you know, season long hold worthiness and stuff
- 7:46like that. So we decided to just use our
- 7:47judgment each week and we're not just gonna judge ourselves every
- 7:50time with just us. We know in L and we see it, but
- 7:53just so happens that we're starting off strong.
- 7:54We definitely know Anel when we see it, but yeah, so.
- 7:58Look at my roster. Three and oh, it's it's always
- 8:02good. So give us a rundown on the
- 8:05teams playing this next week, Josh.
- 8:08Yeah, so two game teams to avoid.
- 8:09You've got Florida, Montreal, Seattle, Utah, Vegas.
- 8:12I'm not gonna list all the four-game teams.
- 8:13It's actually a decent amount. The busy nights are Tuesday,
- 8:16Thursday and Saturday. Those are all 20 plus teams
- 8:19playing. And actually this is one of the
- 8:21usually this busy nights are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.
- 8:23But this week is one of the most lopsided.
- 8:24I'm pretty sure every team in the league plays Tuesday and
- 8:27then Thursday and Saturday have almost every team.
- 8:29So this is going to be a big week focus on those off nights.
- 8:32And the teams with multiple off nights this week are Anaheim,
- 8:36Columbus, Detroit, and the Islanders.
- 8:38So that's definitely something to keep in mind when you're
- 8:40optimizing your streaming for the week.
- 8:42So let's dive into our top ten points guys for this week.
- 8:47So before we dive into the top ten, I've got 2 honorable
- 8:50mentions. I'm not making a habit of having
- 8:52honorable mentions, but these there's a specific reason why I
- 8:55put them there. So 1st I'm going to talk about
- 8:57the GOAT Mackey Samutsevich line 3 power play one on Florida.
- 9:01The reason he's not in the top 10 is because they only have two
- 9:04games this week. This is less of a specifically
- 9:06this week type of thing and more of a season long type of thing.
- 9:09He is just playing unreal out of his mind.
- 9:11He's on power play one for now. They've been shifting it a lot,
- 9:14but they put him on and finally they were successful.
- 9:17So I think that he's going to stick on there and he's been a
- 9:20bangers beast even before getting on to power play one
- 9:22this year. At the end of last year, he was
- 9:24great as well. And I just think that in any
- 9:26bangers league he's only 8% owned last I checked and he
- 9:29should be. This could be the steel pickup
- 9:31of the season for a lot of leagues that don't know about
- 9:34him yet. So obviously it's an awkward
- 9:35week to do it because the two game week.
- 9:37But I think it's still worth it to, you know, take quote UN
- 9:40quote the L on this week in terms of optimizing the schedule
- 9:42because this is a really, really low rostered but high value
- 9:46pickup. Yeah, and they're giving him the
- 9:48time. Like I have them on my team in
- 9:50our, in our league of record. It's like just the best pick
- 9:53I've ever made. He's so good.
- 9:55And I was trying to work up some trades earlier with some guys in
- 9:58the league and I was like, OK, like I have an abundance of
- 10:01hits. I'm gonna give hits and he's
- 10:02the, you know, I drafted him over guys like Holloways,
- 10:05Lefkofsky, and at this point in the year, who would I rather
- 10:07rest of season? Sam Slavish.
- 10:09Like, you know, you drafted him under those guys, like you
- 10:11drafted him later. Than sorry, yes, I dropped him
- 10:13later on and I would rather him over my other more reliable
- 10:17higher paying guys. He's getting the opportunity
- 10:21with to Chuck and Barkov out. I think he's going to be a
- 10:23stable on the power play one. He's got a lot of offensive
- 10:25skill and just you could, what's cool about him is like you can
- 10:29really just tell he makes the most of his opportunities.
- 10:31More than 100 guys in the league gets put on or play one for like
- 10:34a minute and gets too powerfully points, you know like.
- 10:37Yeah. Exactly.
- 10:38I think he's staying there when Chuck comes back.
- 10:41Agreed. He's like Rudy.
- 10:44Is exactly. Yeah, there's the next one.
- 10:51Kind of interesting actually. Yes, I just tossed this on there
- 10:54because I noticed that in our top ten, we didn't have any
- 10:56defensemen. So we have in our Bangor
- 10:58section, we have some classic bangers, defence minister we'll
- 11:00talk about. But in terms of points
- 11:02defenseman, I tossed on Brady Shea.
- 11:04He's not very good for fantasy. OK, so which is a weird thing to
- 11:07start with a guy we put an honorable mention, but the
- 11:09reason I'm putting him here is because Yoshi has just been
- 11:11announced this week to week. Unsurprising.
- 11:13If you listened to the podcast in the offseason, we all said to
- 11:16avoid the OC. I know they said it's not
- 11:18related to his previous condition, just bad luck, but
- 11:21you could just you just know a certain guys that they're not
- 11:24going to play the full season. So anyways, a week to week Shay
- 11:27seems to be the guy stepping in for play one for now.
- 11:29The reason I'm not that excited about it like you would made the
- 11:32top ten if I genuinely thought this was like a great pickup,
- 11:35but the reason about that enthused by it is 1.
- 11:37He puts up no bad cats and two, Nashville is currently ranked
- 11:4032nd in the league in power on power.
- 11:42Play percentage like literally dead last.
- 11:44I just checked this before and I was like oh is this an
- 11:46interesting pick up? And I'm like oh they're ranked
- 11:47dead last. All that to be said though.
- 11:50Last year they were 18th, which is not that bad.
- 11:53And he's gonna be line one power plant and penalty kill one.
- 11:56He's gonna get a ton of ice time with the OC out.
- 11:58And again, we didn't have any other defensemen here.
- 12:00So if you're looking for a defenseman who's gonna give you
- 12:03the highest chance of getting some points but no back cats,
- 12:05then I thought I'd mention she is an honorable mention.
- 12:07Yeah, like, I mean, his only competition there is probably
- 12:11Justin Barron, who hasn't really proved it yet as an NHL.
- 12:13Defenseman, Yeah. He he, he's easily the veteran
- 12:16there. And despite the fact that they
- 12:19suck and they're probably, yeah, continue being bad, like they
- 12:22have no choice but to try, like with the contracts and
- 12:25everything, and like the fact that their teams full of
- 12:27veterans, it's just not clicking, which is very sad.
- 12:29But whatever, yeah, they're gonna do their best to make it
- 12:32work. If she is their number one guy
- 12:34and he's clearly getting the opportunity, you could
- 12:37definitely give that a pickup. It's definitely worth a look.
- 12:40Yeah. And you know what, on that vein,
- 12:42I actually didn't write him here, but I'll add him in off
- 12:44the top of my head in terms of defence because I do, you know,
- 12:48I want to give some positional options to people.
- 12:51I noticed just last night that Zane Perec was given a shot at
- 12:55power play one on the Flames and he got a power play assist.
- 12:59So again, this is 0 backwards and just not like the best
- 13:05necessarily not a guarantee to keep it over the course of the
- 13:08entire week. But as opposed to shape, Perec
- 13:10was, you know, people going into the season, we're expecting to
- 13:12get power play one. He's a young guy like rookie
- 13:15who, you know, has the potential.
- 13:16So I could see him chipping in power play points here and there
- 13:18if he keeps the power play. Again, the flames are not a good
- 13:21team and he offer zero back cats, but it's just another
- 13:24another defenseman option there. Before we dive into our top ten
- 13:26of my top 10 is always I'm actually genuinely excited about
- 13:29these. These were just like defensemen
- 13:31I wanted to throw in just so there's positional options for
- 13:33people. I'd prefer paretic overshoe.
- 13:36Yes, me as well. That's why when I, when I just
- 13:38noticed that I thought of it, I'm like, you know what, He is
- 13:40still technically under 40% owned even though it's close.
- 13:42So he makes. The yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 13:45So Thomas Coverage got two games next week.
- 13:47Yeah, that's the only reason he wasn't.
- 13:48He probably have my number one if he had an actual decent
- 13:52schedule. That's it.
- 13:53And look, I mean, he he's been on our our top, you know, 10/5
- 13:57for both bangers and points before.
- 13:59He's a stud overall. If for whatever reason, you know
- 14:03you don't need the optimized lineup next week, for instance,
- 14:06you have like a lot of guys already playing over your
- 14:10opponent next week, then he's the one that I would go for.
- 14:12Sure. Yeah.
- 14:13All right, let's dive into. #10 that's tough.
- 14:19Maybe he is the throat guy. Not not big toll on me.
- 14:25I like that a lot though. That was good at. #10 We've got
- 14:28Victor Olafson of the Colorado Avalanche, currently Line 3
- 14:32power play one, which is why he made this list.
- 14:34So the Avs are have been tossing around those, flipping around
- 14:38those power play units. And honestly, I did not think
- 14:41there would be a moment in time where none of Nichushkin,
- 14:44Leskinen or Landeskog was on that power play one.
- 14:47But that's where we're at right now.
- 14:48It's Nelson and Olafson on power play one obviously with the
- 14:51three locks of McKinnon car and niches.
- 14:54So anyone who gets a shot, anyone who gets a shot on that
- 14:58power play is worth a look. He only has a three-game week
- 15:01with off night. So it's not like an optimized
- 15:03schedule thing, but more like if he can keep that power play one
- 15:06spot, then he's definitely worth holding in points leagues.
- 15:09At least he put up a power play point and seven shots in his
- 15:13last game, which is kind of huge.
- 15:14So and I know the coach had talked about how he likes his
- 15:17shot and he wanted to try him on power play when at some point.
- 15:19So I'm not surprised to see him there.
- 15:21I will say that Bednar seems to love blending those power play
- 15:25units, so I'm not seeing him on there and thinking that he's a
- 15:27lock there long term, but if it starts clicking then he'll stay
- 15:30there, so it's definitely worth taking a look.
- 15:33Yeah, I'm with you on that one. I think it's an interesting
- 15:38opportunity for him cuz he's kind of like the Shane Gosses
- 15:43Sparrow forwards, right? He's just like, he just.
- 15:46Produced Ghost is the GOAT this year.
- 15:48Yeah, no, I mean, he's not technically that level, but
- 15:52regardless, that's where he's found offensive success in the
- 15:55past. So I wouldn't necessarily be
- 15:58surprised if he stays there over Nichushkin Landis going and
- 16:01looking who are all better players than him.
- 16:03Yeah, but if it works, it works. So this is a decent week to take
- 16:08that opportunity, even though it's just like a regular three
- 16:10games. And I guess he's got some off
- 16:11nights that he's dealing with. But regardless, I yeah, I think
- 16:16it's totally worth a shot. And look, if it sticks, then
- 16:19that's great because he's playing with the best player in
- 16:21the world. And McKinnon?
- 16:22Yeah, exactly. I love nature, slow tangent like
- 16:27it keeps me up at night that I didn't pick him in our main
- 16:30league like. It's actually really.
- 16:33Rough. He's so, so good and I knew it.
- 16:36That's the worst part is like you were talking about it all
- 16:38summer. So it's like, I know, but I
- 16:40totally get it. At the same time though, because
- 16:43sometimes you get in your head, you're like, I know every all
- 16:46the signs point to him being amazing.
- 16:48I know it. I feel it in my gut and you're
- 16:50like, but what if I'm overhyping myself and I built this up too
- 16:53high and you try and get him one round later?
- 16:55So you'd feel safer with the floor and then you get snatched.
- 16:58So yeah, definitely know how you feel with that because I got a,
- 17:01I got sniped on a couple of my signature picks too, so.
- 17:05Sorry about that, but. Yeah, it's all good with you and
- 17:09Kevin grabbed one of mine so it's all good anyways, moving.
- 17:13I'll try this next one. Yeah, he's fine.
- 17:16I'll try this next one at. #9. What?
- 17:27OK. I wanted to try.
- 17:28Wait, no, it's not even like my I have a really good Batman
- 17:30voice I could do. I'm.
- 17:31Batman. Show up or not?
- 17:37Strider, Yeah. I'm a little fright to knock and
- 17:43a lie. Wow.
- 17:45It does take a toll on you though.
- 17:46You know, it hurts my throat when I do that.
- 17:48Once they go like Kevin. Wow.
- 17:51Yeah. Anyways, Chris Kreider of the
- 17:53Anaheim Ducks, assuming he's healthy by then, it was just an
- 17:56illness keeping him out. I would be expecting him to
- 17:58hopefully come back tonight cause I have on my team.
- 18:00If not, he should definitely be back by next week.
- 18:02And he's line one power play one on a Ducks.
- 18:04Team that is seeming pretty, pretty fun, honestly.
- 18:07Crider has five points already. I think he's only played four or
- 18:10five games, so four of those are goals, multiple on the power
- 18:14play, which is exactly what we expect from him.
- 18:17If he's, you know, kind of hitting his let's say, like
- 18:19ceiling or kind of what he does on a team, what he contributes,
- 18:22it's being that power play goal guy just in the net front
- 18:25tipping them in or just hitting and rebounds and he seems to be
- 18:27doing well there. Anaheim at one of the worst
- 18:29power plays in the league last year and this year they're also
- 18:31really hot start. Look, they're not winning many
- 18:34games, but they're having a lot of fun along the way and scoring
- 18:37a lot of goals. So I definitely like Ryder this
- 18:39year, or at least as a pickup for this week where he has
- 18:41multiple off nights. Yeah, obviously they're not
- 18:44like, you know, a total, total win now team, but I do think
- 18:49that they're gonna really try to make the playoffs.
- 18:50They're not in tanking territory anymore by any means.
- 18:53Yeah, I mean, the moves they made in the offseason, like
- 18:55those are not tanking moves. Like getting like a Crider,
- 18:58getting a Grandland, that's like, OK, let's let's actually
- 19:01try and do something. Let's try and turn this rebuild
- 19:04into a playoff or, you know, into let's start moving up
- 19:07instead of just getting more draft picks.
- 19:08So it's definitely their intention to compete more and
- 19:11they're definitely competing more and like I said, they're
- 19:14scoring goals and Crider is going to be a part of a lot of
- 19:16it. Absolutely, yeah.
- 19:18And like there, despite their massive signing of Lacombe, like
- 19:22I, I don't really think they're they're not a shutdown team.
- 19:24So they're they're a team that if they're gonna win, they're
- 19:27gonna score a lot. And I.
- 19:28Actually. 76. Yeah.
- 19:30Exactly. I really like their power play
- 19:33potential too. And I think that just because of
- 19:36who he's been to the Rangers in his career so far, like it would
- 19:41be hard for him to lose that, you know, like, I see other
- 19:44players. Yeah.
- 19:45Like, I think like, you know, the Seneca, Mctavish, Gautier,
- 19:48like, these are guys who have a lot more, like offensive
- 19:51potential even this year than Cryder.
- 19:52But it still doesn't mean that they're gonna take him off.
- 19:55And as far as this week, this is really good.
- 19:59He's got the two off night games, especially Tuesday,
- 20:01Thursday, Saturday, being so packed.
- 20:03Like, you're gonna get the utility out of it.
- 20:05Why not give it a try? And in an illness is nothing
- 20:08like people don't come back from an illness.
- 20:09And it's not like. It takes them a while.
- 20:11Natural. Environment size exactly so.
- 20:14Yeah, no, and in terms of the power play like spot, it's not
- 20:17just that. I mean, they traded for him,
- 20:19they wanted him and you're not gonna trade for a guy like that
- 20:22if you're not gonna put him in a position to do what he does
- 20:24best. But also he's got that net front
- 20:26spot and all the guys you named are more like skill guys.
- 20:28I mean, I could see Seneca, he maybe has some great tis game,
- 20:31but I mean he still rookie and he's gonna be load managed over
- 20:33the course of the season. So so now criders, definitely
- 20:35the guy there. Alright, let's move on to the
- 20:37next one. How are you doing?
- 20:39It. No.
- 20:39We can take turns. You go.
- 20:42Hmm. #8. Ooh, spooky. #8 We've got Sean
- 20:50Couturier of the Philadelphia Flyers 4 game week, line one,
- 20:54power play one. I like this, especially in face
- 20:57off win leagues. He's always been in the past a
- 20:59guy that in a face off win league, a guy that's worth
- 21:01rostering even he's putting up almost zeros Everywhere else he
- 21:04just puts up double digit faceoff wins.
- 21:06So he's always valuable in that sense.
- 21:08But the fact is he's getting deployment, getting to play line
- 21:10one with connect me and Tippett and he's getting to be power
- 21:13play one. Look, this is not like Crider
- 21:16where I think it's a lock. I could see them moving it
- 21:18around, but you know, your plan needs at least one guy who is
- 21:22strong at faceoffs to get you started on a good spot and
- 21:25Couturier is making the most of it.
- 21:27He had a four point game and he's chipping in here and there,
- 21:29so I like him a lot in a four-game week.
- 21:31Yeah, me too. And you know, he's shooting
- 21:34considerably less so far on average this season than he was
- 21:37last season, right? He was hovering around 2 and
- 21:39this year's at 1.5. So, you know, on a four-game
- 21:42week with like a real opportunity to make an impact,
- 21:46especially for face off. So I would expect the shots to
- 21:48positively regress. I don't hate really as an
- 21:52offensively. Good.
- 21:54I know. I'm not I'm not highest on them.
- 21:56Like I don't think they're like some amazing team or anything.
- 21:59You know, they're they're definitely a far from a
- 22:02juggernaut, but I also think that they have the opportunity
- 22:06to score a lot of goals. So, you know, next week they
- 22:10don't have like the toughest opponents necessarily either,
- 22:13right? They have, they have Pittsburgh,
- 22:17which is always like a fun game because it's the Pennsylvania
- 22:20rivalry. Yeah, got Nashville easily.
- 22:22They could score on Maple Leafs and Calgary.
- 22:25So, you know Maple Leafs. Are really good.
- 22:27Schedule, but we'll may play and Wool hasn't played all year, so
- 22:31there's. Also Stolarz has been pretty bad
- 22:33actually so far. He has, he absolutely has.
- 22:36And there's then we got the the idea of Ursin just letting in
- 22:42everything that. So I think that realistically,
- 22:46if they are gonna win similar to Anaheim, they're gonna score.
- 22:50And he is line one on this team and power play 1.
- 22:54I think that's flexible. I wouldn't be surprised if
- 22:56Flexible gets it, but he's still the guy who's gonna get the most
- 23:00minutes of anyone on the Flyers. Forwards, obviously, but yeah.
- 23:04Yeah, exactly. So it's definitely a good stream
- 23:07for this week and maybe it could be a hold.
- 23:11Alright at. #7. It really does take a toll.
- 23:16It like my throat is hurting like Jesus.
- 23:21At #7 we've got Pavel Zacha of the Boston Bruins, currently
- 23:25line 2 power play, 1 four-game week.
- 23:28And this is a guy that he's one of the freakiest players I've
- 23:32seen over the past couple of years where he'll go from being
- 23:35just unrestorable for a couple of weeks, just putting up
- 23:38straight zeros to being just insane, just points every single
- 23:43game. I mean, that's what happens.
- 23:44You get to play with pasta, even if just on the power play and
- 23:46not even string, right? But yeah, so Zach is on one of
- 23:50his hot streaks. Been killing it to start the
- 23:52year. I don't think this is one of
- 23:54those long term holds, but this is one of those ride the waves,
- 23:56enjoy the point, enjoy the points while they come.
- 23:59And then once he starts putting up zeros again, don't feel bad
- 24:01about dropping him. Yeah, for sure.
- 24:04And he, he has been on somewhat of a good streak lately.
- 24:08But as you mentioned, it's really good.
- 24:10You know, in his past three games at the time of this
- 24:14recording, he's recorded at least pointing every one of
- 24:17those. When players play centre,
- 24:20sometimes it impedes their offensive ability because they
- 24:23have to be more defensive responsible.
- 24:25Yeah, for him, like, I think there's zero correlation.
- 24:28It's just are the points gonna come or are they not?
- 24:30And if they come next week, great.
- 24:32If not, like you know, it's there's nothing you can do, but
- 24:36it's still worth it because when he goes off, he goes off.
- 24:40Yeah, and they've got four games, some more chance of it
- 24:42and he's just on one of those streaks right now.
- 24:44You're not grabbing in the middle of his zero streaks
- 24:46hoping that he turns it on. Like I said, he just ride the
- 24:48wave and then and once the rides over, you know, you just Chuck
- 24:51him and. Pick up some.
- 24:54Like nobody's getting emotionally attached to having
- 24:57him on their roster so. So don't do that and just pick
- 25:00him up and hopefully hope for the best honestly.
- 25:03Yeah. All right, Yeah.
- 25:07Whoa, number six. I sounded dead there.
- 25:12Yeah. OK, interesting.
- 25:14We've all tried a different one on the next one anyways, I have
- 25:17number six. We've got Connor Garland of the
- 25:19Vancouver Canucks schedule wise, just the regular three-game week
- 25:22with no off night, So not not multiple off nights, So not too
- 25:25exciting there, but he's line one power play one.
- 25:27Vancouver is not the most exciting team, but Garland,
- 25:29honestly, with how bad Patterson has been, Garland might be the
- 25:32most valuable forward on Vancouver, which is crazy
- 25:35because you've got Peterson, you've got Besser.
- 25:37But Garland last year and this year it's just one of those kind
- 25:41of random ish. Like doesn't have really the
- 25:43name value, but he just puts up numbers.
- 25:45So I like him as he could be a season long hold.
- 25:48Not particularly the most exciting week this week, like I
- 25:50said, with no, not the off nights of the four-game week,
- 25:52but he's just one of those guys that slow rostered that can just
- 25:55stick around for a while. Yeah, I asked you this last week
- 26:00and I'm not sure if you've changed your mind on it.
- 26:02Would you trade technical for Garland?
- 26:06I would not, but it's just it's look, who would I rather have on
- 26:09my team for the next couple of weeks?
- 26:11Garland. That's that's that's a no
- 26:13brainer. But Garland's just doing what
- 26:15he's going to do for most of the year, which is be someone who
- 26:18rounds out your roster and is not exciting.
- 26:20But you know, we'll just chip in and you're not like need to drop
- 26:23him. Switch is absolutely garbage
- 26:25right now and we won't get into it too much.
- 26:28But he still has the potential to go back to being the draft
- 26:31value of where you got him. You know, like, obviously over
- 26:33the course of the season, his averages are now gonna suck
- 26:35because he's off to such a bad start.
- 26:37He's not gonna make up for that. But the past is in the past,
- 26:39right? I'm only looking forward at any
- 26:41point. Rod can move him back up in the
- 26:43deployment or he can decide he wants to play hockey again.
- 26:45And, and he can get it back. So as long as my team's not
- 26:50really struggling too hard, I have the I have the luxury of
- 26:53kind of just holding on to him and seeing what he can do.
- 26:56Yeah. You know, I'm looking at this
- 26:58like their division is a very weak division in the Pacific.
- 27:02And I think that Vancouver has a real chance to to, you know, try
- 27:06to make a push for the playoffs. I don't think they will make it.
- 27:09I think, yeah, LA is underperforming like crazy.
- 27:12Edmonton and Vegas are definitely like the top three
- 27:15there. And the top three?
- 27:16Are just too strong. Yeah, I do think the Ducks are
- 27:18better, frankly. So that puts them in contention
- 27:21for a wild card spot. But you know, I've spoken about
- 27:24this before. These are the type of players
- 27:25that you want to own because they need to try and this
- 27:29they're also non entangling territory by any means.
- 27:32I really don't think they're great, but they're way better
- 27:35than Calgary, right? So they're.
- 27:37Yeah, I will say they don't sleep on.
- 27:39I don't sleep on the crack. And I kind of, yeah, I mean, I'm
- 27:43not the biggest fan in terms of like fantasy value because, you
- 27:47know, they spread it out so much.
- 27:48But in terms of just specific rankings, like that's why I'm
- 27:50kind of excited about my decored pick this year because it's
- 27:53exactly like you said that look at their division and OK, Jose
- 27:57and Calgary are just absolute just bottom tier garbage.
- 28:00OK, like that's just easy, easy games.
- 28:04And then Canucks and Anaheim. OK, I'll put Canucks next.
- 28:07They're pretty close to bottom to your garbage.
- 28:09I know you're saying they could make a push playoffs.
- 28:11I don't make a push for playoffs.
- 28:12Not gonna be as bad as those garbage teams.
- 28:13So there gonna get some of those free wins, but they're still
- 28:16pretty, pretty trash unless Peterson decides to play hockey
- 28:19all of a sudden. So like switching Gov and then
- 28:22Anaheim is going to be fun and they could make a push for
- 28:24playoffs, but they're not like the scariest opponent.
- 28:26It's not like you're benching your goals when you see going up
- 28:28against Anaheim. So it's like 4 out of eight and
- 28:31you're 1. Seattle, one of the teams that's
- 28:32four of their seven opponents who is a pretty easy, pretty
- 28:37easy 1. I actually picked this year 2
- 28:39goalies from the Pacific. I picked Kemper and Discord and
- 28:43I did look into this beforehand and I was like, this is such an
- 28:46easy division. There's so many kind of those
- 28:48free, free games. So yeah, something like that.
- 28:51But back to Garland, he is on Vancouver.
- 28:53He's gonna get to play against a lot of these teams.
- 28:55So. So Vancouver guys could be
- 28:57interesting to own. I wouldn't want to own more than
- 28:59one. And Garland's probably the top
- 29:01one to own other than Quinn Hughes, even though he has been
- 29:03kind of underperforming so far. Yeah, he he's like an excellent
- 29:07bylaw. But when when it comes to it,
- 29:09you know, if if Garland is getting the I always wanna say
- 29:12Grantland, like, it's OK, yeah, they're so similar, but I feel
- 29:16like they're also kind of similar insofar as their career
- 29:19trajectory, right? Like 1 is like, you know, Crosby
- 29:24and the other one of the George Larock.
- 29:25It's like. Yeah.
- 29:26It's like they're similar vibes and everything.
- 29:29Both play in the Pacific Division, but yeah, it's his
- 29:33shots are a little volatile, which I don't love.
- 29:35Still for this week, it's definitely a good pick, but his
- 29:38minutes are amazing. 23221923 This is just like we have to
- 29:45pretty much hang our hat on the process over everything and the
- 29:48process the concept of him succeeding makes.
- 29:51A lot of sense, like you just know that someone on that team
- 29:54has to score right, especially with those components.
- 29:56And you look at all those they, they don't have anyone at centre
- 29:58essentially. So you can ignore the centres
- 30:00for now. And you look at all those
- 30:01wingers and they have so many wingers who potentially could be
- 30:02that guy. And you look at your first, you
- 30:05know, your eye first hits Besser.
- 30:06You're like Besser's done it before, but he's kind of been
- 30:08underperforming all of last year and this year as well so far.
- 30:10Then you look at, you know, Debrusk, maybe you know, he can
- 30:13do it because getting the deployment, he was decent in
- 30:15Boston, but he's not doing much with it.
- 30:16You look at our steep Baines. Sorry I couldn't help myself.
- 30:22You look at like, like Evander Kane, you know, that's not too
- 30:25exciting. Vancouver just traded for Lucas
- 30:27Reichel. We'll see what he can do, but so
- 30:29far, whatever. The only guy who actually, yeah,
- 30:31you didn't see that. No Rachel for 1/4 rounder.
- 30:35Oh wow, OK, well definitely talk more about that in the news
- 30:38episode, but. That's yeah.
- 30:39Well that's a bummer for Chicago.
- 30:41They spent like I think a first round pick on him.
- 30:43Yeah, and not to get into, but Long story short, the only guy
- 30:47over the past year and then this year who who's a winger who's
- 30:50actually produced consistent semi consistently for Vancouver
- 30:54has been Garland. So at a certain point you got to
- 30:56stop looking for the guy and be like, alright, the guys are in
- 30:58front of me. He's not the most flashy name,
- 30:59but you know, that's how you go with.
- 31:01Anyways, let's move on to number. 5.
- 31:06Easier. Easier on the yeah, yeah.
- 31:09This is awesome. I love this selection over here
- 31:13and he's the one to me who who's just shaping up to be an
- 31:16absolute stud for bangers leagues and Mid Finney of the
- 31:19Detroit Red Wings. He's got 4 game week with
- 31:22multiple off nights, so just saying Detroit's a really good,
- 31:25really good one and he's lined one power play one for now, with
- 31:27a big caveat of when Patrick Kane comes back, he's gonna bump
- 31:30him off power play 1. So that's a big thing.
- 31:32But even before Fanny got that power play spot, he was killing
- 31:36it at even strength. He's gonna he has line one on
- 31:37lock. He's having great chemistry with
- 31:39Larkin and Larkin's on just an absolute terror to start the
- 31:42year. And Detroit overall is is doing
- 31:44really well to start the year. So I mean, this guy was a
- 31:47seventh round pick. Yeah.
- 31:49That's like, I love seeing these kind of stories.
- 31:51That's so hype. It's like Marty Saint Louis
- 31:53being undrafted and then becoming a Hall of Famer.
- 31:55So it's really exciting. He's also, like you said, for
- 31:59bangers. He's shooting, he's hitting.
- 32:00I'm playing against him this week and he's wrecking me.
- 32:02And yeah, no, it's it's a really fun pic.
- 32:07Like I said, don't pick him up expecting him to be power play 1
- 32:09all week. Kane is not playing today, but
- 32:12he's been skating and I would expect him to come back midweek
- 32:14next week. But I don't think Binny's entire
- 32:17value is tied to that power play like certain players are.
- 32:20Yeah, and right. There's no reason he's gonna
- 32:23necessarily lose line one right now he's playing.
- 32:26With Mark, no chance he loses line 1.
- 32:27Yeah, very likely he's just gonna keep it.
- 32:30I mean it's. Like when Kane comes back,
- 32:32Raymond's getting bumped back up to line one.
- 32:34It's gonna be Raymond Larkin and Finney, and line 2 is Debrincat,
- 32:37Casper, Kane. I I mean, imagine that like
- 32:40Finn, he's gonna be playing with both Raymond and Larkin.
- 32:43Yeah, I, I'd rather, I mean, that's the vast majority of
- 32:47people's minutes. We like to talk about the power
- 32:49play being the crux of value. That's more for defensemen
- 32:53really, especially when it comes to points.
- 32:55There's the banger guys like Gudas, etcetera, that their
- 32:57value has nothing to do with power play.
- 33:00But then when you're looking at call it like Nikishin, like with
- 33:04the situation with Ghost, do you know what I mean?
- 33:06Like that's when power play comes into it for forwards.
- 33:10I mean, OK, I don't wanna say almost like it when they're not
- 33:13on power play. That's just me trying to make
- 33:14something out of nothing with this nonsense.
- 33:16Hagel situations. So not to bring my woes into
- 33:20this, but for a guy like Finney who's got both banger cats and
- 33:24point potential, I really like it because now he's just going
- 33:27to be playing with better guys for more like minutes of that.
- 33:33You know, it's more important like the power play more
- 33:37important when a players on a really bad team, when it's a
- 33:41forward on a really bad team, because the only time that team
- 33:43is really gonna like they don't score much goal, many goals,
- 33:45they're mostly gonna score on the power play.
- 33:47So if you're not on that power play, they're not getting many
- 33:49even strength goals. So you guys not getting many
- 33:50points. But if your team is kind of
- 33:52firing on all cylinders like Detroit has been for the start
- 33:54of the season, then they're putting up numbers at even
- 33:57strength in addition to the power play.
- 33:58So obviously power play is better than not power play, but
- 34:02he's not gonna lose all his value.
- 34:03And it's also the back cats. You know, if he didn't have any
- 34:05back cats then I would be like a lot less enthused about it.
- 34:08But the fact that he's put up numbers, even strength so far
- 34:11this year, he gets to play on a great even strength line and he
- 34:13has the back cat support, then I really like him as a pick up
- 34:16this week. Yeah, like the aforementioned
- 34:18Pavel Zacha, if they take him off power play 1.
- 34:21It's way. Less desirable than like a
- 34:23Finney off power play one, right?
- 34:25Yeah. So 100%.
- 34:27That's a concrete example there, all right. #4.
- 34:33I'm losing it, Kevin. We need you back, man.
- 34:37You need a recording of him saying the numbers, you know,
- 34:39seriously, go to your basement, we have him locked up and just
- 34:42get him. This.
- 34:43That's not a real thing. For the listeners.
- 34:48Right #4 I've got two guys who are kind of similar.
- 34:51We've got Zach Benson and Josh done, Benson's line one power
- 34:54play 1, Don's line 2 power play one.
- 34:56Both the Buffalo Sabres both just a three-game week with not
- 34:59multiple off nights. So in terms of the optimizing
- 35:01schedule, not that exciting. But there's something exciting
- 35:04going on at the Sabres this year.
- 35:05And I will say they've done this in the past, right, where they
- 35:09get our hopes up that they're going to be relevant and good
- 35:11and they go on a really hot streak and then they just crash
- 35:13out before the end of the season and end up just missing the
- 35:16playoffs. But you know what, let's take it
- 35:19on as a new year, new savers and they've got a lot of new
- 35:22players. So you know, you can give a give
- 35:24some to that. All that to be said, they're on
- 35:26a tear right now. They're really killing it and
- 35:28they're producing a lot of offence.
- 35:29And Benson and Don are both big parts of that.
- 35:32Obviously it kind of runs through Tage Thompson, Rasmus
- 35:34Dahlin, but those guys are like 9900% rostered.
- 35:37But Benson and done have not yet reached that 40% threshold.
- 35:41They're both around 25% and they're both really good
- 35:45options. I think these could both be
- 35:46season long holds or at least one of them will be.
- 35:49I think Benson slightly better than done because of that even
- 35:51strength deployment. Although don't I like his back
- 35:53hats better? But but yeah, no, I like both of
- 35:56these a lot. Yeah.
- 35:58My take here though is that if you have the choice between
- 36:01both, I would easily go with Benson because the the minutes
- 36:05have been like really, really elite.
- 36:08There 100%. Encouraging to see that with
- 36:10like a young guy on this team and look, I mean his averages
- 36:14are skewed. Let's be real. 4 assists in his
- 36:16first game was ridiculous and. Then he missed a lot of games.
- 36:20Yeah, exactly. But he went right into it and
- 36:23he's been playing a lot. He is more of like a quote lock
- 36:27in this team's future than loan. They invested super high draft
- 36:30capital whereas they just traded for done which doesn't mean
- 36:33anything negative for him. It's more positive for benzene.
- 36:35So I would say the spot on power play 1 is much more secure for
- 36:40Benson. That being said and a week
- 36:42coming up like this, I'd be happy to roster both, especially
- 36:46in a deeply if they're on. Agency.
- 36:49I will say the advanced stats are loving Josh done.
- 36:53I keep seeing posts about his like expected goals for and like
- 36:56him being on the ice and all that kind of fun stuff.
- 36:58And I've been watching the games and his eye test has really been
- 37:00he's been passing it. So I still prefer Benson over
- 37:03done because of the deployment, but I do like Donuts and option
- 37:06a lot. So if you're choosing one of
- 37:09these guys, take Benson. If Benson's already taken, take
- 37:11Don. And I'm happy with either one.
- 37:12Yeah, yeah, they should trade one of their defensemen to get a
- 37:16better forward. Yeah, exactly.
- 37:17I don't, I don't know. What the deal is over?
- 37:19Here maybe like Kesselring for JJ Peterka.
- 37:25What? No, but if that's another fun
- 37:28thing is, is the Savers been doing this well and Kessler
- 37:30hasn't even played yet and he's actually a really solid
- 37:32defenseman and he's coming back this coming week.
- 37:35So that could boost them even more.
- 37:36So it's I'm excited to see what they can do.
- 37:39Yeah, they're always a fun team to watch and yeah, like you
- 37:42said, they burnt us in the past, but all you can really do is
- 37:44look at like the new season. As yes, exactly.
- 37:47I mean, I'm in like a weird spot where I currently have three
- 37:50savers on my team, which is not somewhere I want to be, but I
- 37:53kind of have to wait and see which one is the OK.
- 37:55So I've got Tage, who's obviously a lock.
- 37:57He's amazing. But then I also picked up Zucker
- 37:59and and done. So I'm kind of waiting to see
- 38:04I'm gonna drop one of them at some point unless they both keep
- 38:06killing it, which I doubt. There's just not enough love to
- 38:08spread around that consistently. But I'm kind of waiting to see
- 38:12which ones the guy who's more valuable.
- 38:14But all that to be said, savers are fun right now and I've been
- 38:17watching a lot of their games because I have so many of them.
- 38:21Alright, alright, at number. 3. Telling you like, like, what's
- 38:27cool about the way Kevin does it is that he has the consistent
- 38:29like, yeah, exactly. We keep cracking like.
- 38:32Yeah, no, this is tougher than I thought.
- 38:35I'm gonna be practicing in my room.
- 38:37I was gonna be like, do not know how to count.
- 38:39So are you practicing? Do you have a?
- 38:41Cold. Exactly.
- 38:44Anyways, at #3 we've got Emil Heineman crazy he is line one
- 38:50power play 2 on the Islanders 4 game week with multiple off
- 38:53nights. I love that schedule and what
- 38:54he's been doing is just unreal. I mean, if you were a house fan
- 38:58and saw him play on the haves last year, this isn't the most
- 39:01shocking thing. If you're, if you never heard of
- 39:04him, which is very fair. You're like who the hell is this
- 39:06guy? And that's a very fair reaction
- 39:08as well. But but he looked he there was a
- 39:11stretch last year with the hats. They were kind of very up and
- 39:13down and there was a stretch where, I don't know if you
- 39:15remember, but he got like hit by a car in Salt Lake City and like
- 39:19broke his wrist or something. And he missed about 2-3 weeks of
- 39:22games and the Habs went on a crazy losing streak.
- 39:25And then he came back and they started winning again.
- 39:27And obviously, like he was a fourth liner on the haves.
- 39:29Like it's not that much of a difference, but there's
- 39:32something there. And he always brought the
- 39:33energy, was always a good banger.
- 39:35And now he's being given the chance on line one power play 2
- 39:38and they don't have a split. They have a clear play one, but
- 39:41it's not the biggest. Like it's one of those power
- 39:43play ones that stays on for 90% of the time, so it's not
- 39:47irrelevant. All that to be said, he's
- 39:48putting up really good numbers points wise.
- 39:50The banks are unreal. He's averaging almost five hits
- 39:52a game and I don't see any threat to his deployment.
- 39:55If anything, he has the upside of if he keeps playing
- 39:58amazingly, he could maybe get elevated to power play one at
- 40:00some point because there's a lot of guys on there who aren't
- 40:02locks. So I like kind of in a lot,
- 40:04especially for a week like this with his schedule lining up
- 40:06perfectly, I would definitely take a shot on him.
- 40:09So, so like the quote UN quote bear case over here is that a
- 40:12lot of his points are from goals.
- 40:13Listen, it is what it is. The bull case is that he's
- 40:17scoring a lot of goals, and those come from shots, yeah.
- 40:21So to. Me like one of the best
- 40:24indicators of an amazing player to pick up is when we're
- 40:28speaking about top ten points guys and they also have five
- 40:33hits a game. That's ridiculous.
- 40:35Like that is for the listeners, especially those who play in
- 40:39bangers leagues, which I guess most of our listeners.
- 40:41Do. It's and listen also like just
- 40:46to say points leagues do allocate a.
- 40:49Portion hits, yeah. Yeah, exactly.
- 40:51So like it's not gonna be as much as a goal or whatever,
- 40:53which Hanneman has plenty of, but still like I would say he's
- 40:57like a must roster right now going into next week, 2 off
- 41:00nights and four games. Like that's like a dream dream
- 41:03for a guy producing like this. And hey, I mean he's he's a new
- 41:07addition to this team already had a consistent line 1
- 41:11deployment. What's stopping him from going
- 41:14to this power play 1? Jonathan drew exactly.
- 41:17Yeah. That's it.
- 41:18That's exactly it. It's not like there's some like
- 41:205 like stars locked on there. I could definitely if he keeps
- 41:22putting up numbers, I could see him doing that.
- 41:25Why is not the type of coach who is afraid from putting a kind of
- 41:29no name guy in a position to succeed?
- 41:30You know, like he's he'll do it if he thinks it's the right
- 41:33move. And if Heineman keeps doing what
- 41:35he's doing, he's kind of going to force his hand.
- 41:36So I really like him like you said in a bangers like I think
- 41:38he's a must pick up, especially on a week like this.
- 41:40See what he does and see if you can stick out in your roster.
- 41:42And with those hits, it's like, even if he just goes completely
- 41:45cold on points, he's still gonna be a nice addition to your team,
- 41:48at least as a stream for the week.
- 41:49So the the floor is so high that that I feel really comfortable
- 41:54making this pick. Up.
- 41:55Yeah, he's like, I, I mean, you know, even and like you said
- 42:01with the hits and I think that's also relevant for the shots.
- 42:03He's shooting a lot and I think the shot is gonna keep going,
- 42:06like, yeah, he's getting that those minutes.
- 42:08Reflects off to like an unreal start to the year and Heinen's
- 42:11kinda stapled to him on line 1, so I really like seeing what
- 42:14they've got going on right now. No, Absolutely.
- 42:16Would you rather Hineman or Samutsevich Russ this season?
- 42:21I got to go Samos gavage because Samus Savage has the power play
- 42:24one right now over Heineman. They're both like elite shot
- 42:27hitters. I think Sam Savage probably
- 42:30shoots more whereas Heineman hits more, but they're very
- 42:32similar to me. But Samus sketch I think is on a
- 42:35much better team and has the power play on deployment.
- 42:39So I'm going to go sandwich. But the fact is that like I was
- 42:42just saying how much to me, Samus Gavich is such an
- 42:45underrated pickup, right, even on A2 game week.
- 42:47So the fact that, you know, it's even a conversation that
- 42:50Heineman is in with him, then it shows how solid will pick up
- 42:53Heineman. Could be for sure, and for this
- 42:54week I would rather him just because of.
- 42:56The because the four games and the off nights.
- 42:58Exactly. Yeah, exactly.
- 43:00Like, if you're in a pretty deep league and you're gonna end up
- 43:02dropping whichever one by the end of the week anyways, then go
- 43:04with Heineman. But I do think that some savage
- 43:07could stick on your team long term.
- 43:09Agreed. Hurried.
- 43:10Alright. #2. And #2 we've got another pair of
- 43:16names. Sometimes you've got, I've got
- 43:17these guys who are very similar on similar teams, so I kind of
- 43:20group them together and. Similar names.
- 43:22Yeah, exactly. Will and William, We got Will
- 43:26Smith and William Eckland of the San Jose Sharks.
- 43:29Will Smith is currently line one power play 1, Eckland line 2
- 43:31power play one. They both have a four-game week,
- 43:33although they don't have the off nights, and they're kind of
- 43:36popping off right now with the celebrity.
- 43:38That's a Jake finally getting rewarded for his his picocell
- 43:42Aurini. I knew it was.
- 43:43Coming that was, I sent Josh a trade involving celebrity in it
- 43:48and like I I was getting a good return and I was like, Nah, you
- 43:50know what? I just can't do this.
- 43:51And then the next night, he was. Like pops off.
- 43:54Yeah, thanks. To be fair, not asking for my
- 43:57you're asking for my first round pick.
- 43:58So it's not like I was buying low per se.
- 44:00No. Absolutely.
- 44:01But no, it definitely like the type of thing that you wouldn't
- 44:04have sent after that game happened.
- 44:06So So yeah, no, definitely, definitely.
- 44:08But anyways, Will Smith and Eckland both are getting to
- 44:11enjoy the celebrity action. I mean, they're doing some of
- 44:13the action themselves, right? They're both like highly touted
- 44:16prospects who are taking a step up this year and it's really fun
- 44:19to see. It's kind of like what we said
- 44:21would happen with the Sharks, right?
- 44:22And even like even when they win, they're winning games like
- 44:2565 because their defence is atrocious.
- 44:27So but. That's what the.
- 44:30Well, we had also mentioned said this about the Sharks over the
- 44:32course of the offseason, but yeah, similar to the Ducks.
- 44:35But yeah, we had mentioned this with the Sharks in the off
- 44:36season of just. That's the same vibe, right?
- 44:39Like terrible defence. I mean, obviously this is a lot
- 44:41worse than the Ducks defence. Ducks have solid defence, but in
- 44:44this case the Sharks, right, this garbage defence, they're
- 44:46not going to win many games. The one they do, they have to
- 44:48score like six goals and they've got the personnel to do it.
- 44:50You know, they got the guys who are ready to take that step up
- 44:53and have some really fun games. They're all young guys, they're
- 44:55gonna be not that consistent, but when they pop off they're
- 44:58gonna get like 4 point nights like they all did and they last
- 45:00like 2 games. So if you look at their game
- 45:02logs you'll see that, I mean, I'm sure getting picked up a
- 45:04ton, especially coming up on a four-game week.
- 45:05But yeah, if you have the chance to grab either of them, I think
- 45:08that's a really sick. I'd go with Smith over Ecklin
- 45:10right now just because of that even strength deployment, but
- 45:13it's also not a lock. But you may as well go with what
- 45:16for now is the better deployment.
- 45:18Yeah, and like definitely a agree on all fronts, except I
- 45:21think I'd rather Eckland over Smith only cause of shots have
- 45:24been so good. And he's like really decent
- 45:27Blogger. Like, OK, he's a he's like a
- 45:30block per game type forward. Like I think he's gonna be
- 45:33really good. Hey, it's like you can't go
- 45:34wrong with either, especially for a week like this.
- 45:38But yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, even if he's not
- 45:42playing with celebrity there, he's gonna get a lot of minutes.
- 45:45So 100%, I think it's really very, as Kevin would say, you're
- 45:49splitting feathers on this one. But yeah.
- 45:51Exactly. Because that's a real thing, so.
- 45:54And this is like, I actually think, like, anybody could just
- 46:00be like, hey, coach, put me in. It's like, what position
- 46:03defence. Yes, please come.
- 46:05Like, yeah, they are actually so bad on defence.
- 46:08It's not particularly. And like, Klingberg is not some
- 46:11savior. He's been hurt that week.
- 46:13Love that cool pick. Him up.
- 46:15Kevin would call me up, be like, yeah, you picked him up to your
- 46:17IRA and I was like, yeah, but still.
- 46:19Yeah. So he's he is paid like 0
- 46:22dividends and it's not like it's costing me too much.
- 46:24But regardless, mini rant. But all this to say, when he's
- 46:28back, like all it is is potentially to add to the
- 46:31offence. So there's other reasons to
- 46:32think there will be good. There's two types of teams.
- 46:35I think there's those trying to compete like Vancouver, who may
- 46:39not have a chance and but they're still gonna like get the
- 46:43most out of their players like Garland.
- 46:45And then there's teams like this, which like, look, they're
- 46:47not gonna make the playoffs. I was the highest on them and I
- 46:50clearly wasn't right about that. But at the.
- 46:53End, but they're gonna have fun doing it.
- 46:54Exactly. So they will have big games and
- 46:57it's just about developing their players.
- 46:59They'll shuffle things around, but they want Will Smith,
- 47:01William McClain and Celebrity to be like 3 of their five power
- 47:06play players for years to come. The 4th is probably going to be
- 47:09Mesa, which I don't know if he's going to be relevant at all this
- 47:12year, probably. I don't think so.
- 47:14I think they're really like managing his time, like they're
- 47:16scratching him every second game or something like.
- 47:18That you know. Rostrum, But Smith and Eckland
- 47:20are here to stay all year, and it's gonna be really, really fun
- 47:23to watch. Yeah, now all they need to do is
- 47:25find a power play quarterback for their future.
- 47:28I mean, maybe Dickinson over the future, who knows.
- 47:30But for now, they've got Klingberg.
- 47:33And leave it at that. This is all right at #1.
- 47:42But. It was great.
- 47:45At #1 we've got another two namer, Dimitri, Veronika V and
- 47:50Sean Monahan of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
- 47:52Both 4 game weeks with multiple off nights, both line one power
- 47:56play 1. And Veronica, I'd say, has been
- 48:00outperforming what people expected and Monaghan has been
- 48:02severely underperforming what people expected.
- 48:05Despite that, I'm not worried about him at all.
- 48:07He's kept his deployment and he was elite last year and I don't
- 48:10see why that would, you know, he might not be the as elite this
- 48:13year, but it's not gonna be as bad as it's been to start the
- 48:15year. So Columbus is, like I said,
- 48:18have an amazing schedule and both these guys like are just
- 48:21they get to play with Marchenko, who's the best krill in the
- 48:23league, and they get to play on power play one with Warenski as
- 48:26well. And it's just this is a great
- 48:28team, great line 1, great power play 1 and they're gonna Broncos
- 48:33gonna keep killing it. He's shooting and hitting as
- 48:34well and Monaghan's turn it around, so I like both of them
- 48:37as a pick up this week. Yeah, I still have a few
- 48:41reservations about him on Monaghan online one, No, sorry,
- 48:46I have reservations about Monahan on Power Play 1 all
- 48:49year. OK, that's the truth.
- 48:50I really do think and I'm like the outlier here, I know you and
- 48:54Kevin are pretty high on Fantilli keeping that line to
- 48:59Power Play 2 situation and Monahan being a staple to Power
- 49:02Play 1. I don't necessarily think that's
- 49:05the case. I, I know in the past we said,
- 49:07oh, maybe they'll bump Ken Johnson off.
- 49:10Yeah, just because he's a centre.
- 49:11I, I, I think that they made Bum Monahan off.
- 49:14That being said, you're right. He's drastically
- 49:16underperforming. He's still gonna get big minutes
- 49:18and he's playing with these insanely fantastic players in
- 49:22the chemistry is there. Monahan has been a really solid
- 49:27addition to every team he's been on especially.
- 49:30When he has got him because he was really, yeah, but he was
- 49:33really injury prone in Calgary. So like he was really good.
- 49:36Like people kind of forgot how good he was because he spent so
- 49:39much time injured. And then he's kind of been
- 49:41rejuvenated since that trade to the Habs, right?
- 49:44Where we, they gave us a first round pick to take him and then
- 49:47we flipped him for a first round pick because he did so well with
- 49:49us. Then he did amazing on Winnipeg
- 49:51for that brief run. And then Columbus, he's just
- 49:53been killing it ever since. Yeah, exactly.
- 49:55He he's, he's just so reliable. He's he's the Toyota of NHL
- 50:00players, you know what I mean? Like Toyotas are great cars.
- 50:06Like you're always happy to have the Toyota.
- 50:08You know, it's like, I'm trying to think like it would be like
- 50:13Mcdavid's a Ferrari, but like, which would you rather in a
- 50:16snowstorm, probably. Still make David.
- 50:20Whatever. For all intents and purposes,
- 50:23Toyotas are great cars. Monaghan's a really great
- 50:25player. And sponsored by the way, no.
- 50:28Sponsor. Maybe someday, though.
- 50:30Yeah. Listen up, Mr. Toyota, but not
- 50:34even as your real name. Mr. Toyota was my father called
- 50:38me Sean. So.
- 50:47Yeah, just just look, it's for this week.
- 50:50I think I'd rather Voronkov. He's already had that
- 50:52production, but but Monaghan is really I think in bangers
- 50:56leagues with face off some must roster.
- 50:58Yeah, if he does lose that power play one, we'll definitely be
- 51:01discussing it on a news episode. I do think it's, I wouldn't say
- 51:05likely, but I'd say there's a 30% chance that he loses it.
- 51:09I just think that he's not even like.
- 51:12I think both for Rankov and Johnson would lose power play 1
- 51:16before Monahan, but obviously like like because we've seen in
- 51:19the we saw it in the past, right.
- 51:21Voronkov last year was bouncing a bit between probably 1 power
- 51:23play 2 even line 1 and line 2 and Johnson as well.
- 51:27Johnson, I mean, just got promoted power play one until
- 51:28like last week was Boone Jenner on there.
- 51:30So I really I really don't think Monahan spot is in peril.
- 51:34I think that Bentley could get a shot there, although they seem
- 51:37to be trying out everyone but fancily.
- 51:39But but yeah, so I'm not too worried about his spot there.
- 51:42But definitely in terms of this week, I'm not worried about
- 51:44either their spot there. And and I also prefer Veronica
- 51:46for this specific week from one hand season long, but Veronica
- 51:50for this specific week just because he's the one who's been
- 51:52hot right now. So ride the hot hand.
- 51:54Yeah, Fantilli is not a Hegel situation, by the way, who's
- 51:56like put me in coach and like he's just like, no, he's just
- 52:00young. And then they wanna like let the
- 52:01other guys like this is this is a real up and coming team that
- 52:06almost made the playoffs last year.
- 52:07I don't think it's impossible for them to replicate that. 100%
- 52:11they can almost make it again this year.
- 52:12Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
- 52:16All right, shall we dive into our top five bangers?
- 52:20Yazir, let's do it. Yeah.
- 52:22Alright at. #5. At #5 we've got Will Cooley so
- 52:30talked about on this podcast. Look, we know that he's
- 52:34underperforming points wise, but he's still a bangers beast. 1.1
- 52:37Pimms, 2.3 shots for hits a game so far.
- 52:40Look, you're not complaining. Like maybe you know, you were
- 52:43expecting a bit more points from him, but in terms of the back
- 52:46cats, you are not complaining or very happy with what he's doing.
- 52:48So definitely, and I see him, I just saw him drop below 40%.
- 52:52A lot of people are dropping him.
- 52:54So that's the type of guy analogue like ours who I would
- 52:57very happily grab and hold all season because of how good he is
- 53:00at the back hats. And he still has that potential
- 53:02at at points, right? I mean, right now he's been
- 53:05bumping around between line 1 and line 2 at even strength, but
- 53:09there is kind of a big hole where Trocheck left.
- 53:12But check is going to be back soon and the second Trocheck
- 53:15back coolies either playing with Panarin and Trocheck or he's
- 53:19playing with Miller and Zibanejad.
- 53:21That's amazing. Line needs to have it even
- 53:23strength. Obviously he's never getting
- 53:24power play one, but like for where you got him and the back
- 53:28cats that he provides, he's got the points are gonna pick up.
- 53:30All that to say, I love Will Colisa bangers pick up.
- 53:32Yeah, when you said for where you're going, I'm like maybe not
- 53:36in the sixth round. Yeah, unless you're Kevin, who
- 53:38reached on him like crazy, but. Like.
- 53:41His sixth round pick is doing better than my six round pick so
- 53:44I can't really talk. My six round pick sound about it
- 53:49alright, not bad. OK, so we're all having a
- 53:51slightly disappointing 6 round. Yeah, yeah, I will say it might
- 53:54not slightly disappointing. Mine is in the toilet, but you
- 53:57know you guys are. Let's get my six round pick next
- 54:00year. I'm gonna forget honestly.
- 54:02Hope for another Samus cabbage in the 17th.
- 54:04Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I think.
- 54:07Over my 6th. Honestly same and same for my 6
- 54:12and Kevin. 6 though. We love Samutsevich on this
- 54:15podcast so yeah, cool is honestly not much to add.
- 54:19Must roster and Bangor leagues and I think the offence will
- 54:22come not in like anything drastic.
- 54:25I mean he's still probably gonna be a .6 point per game guy, but
- 54:29it goes back category thoughts and especially his hits.
- 54:31Wonderful players. Roster.
- 54:33Exactly. Definitely.
- 54:34Not everyone's gonna be a point per game player.
- 54:36You just have to. Despite what every Yahoo player
- 54:39fantasy chat tells you, not everyone is supposed to be
- 54:42getting multiple points every single game, and not everyone's
- 54:44a drop the second they don't put up a point.
- 54:46Yes. Exactly.
- 54:48I don't know why I look in those chats but it's.
- 54:52Entertaining, but it's it is. Entertaining.
- 54:54It's plenty of guys not doing well.
- 54:55It's really bad place to be because everyone just piles on
- 54:58and you just feel even worse about your pick.
- 55:00Ask me how I know. They're living in the sketch
- 55:03fantasy chat like the rim place to view.
- 55:07Anyways, let's go to #4. OK.
- 55:14Caught up in the excitement. Yeah, and #4 we've got Nick
- 55:18Seeler of the Philadelphia Flyers.
- 55:19He's kind of been a favorite of mine over the years for Blocks 4
- 55:22game week. He's averaging 2.3 hits, 1.9
- 55:25blocks so far. The next couple guys going to
- 55:27talk about are very unexciting. This is just let's say you need
- 55:29guys to kind of plug in for those back hats.
- 55:33I know we didn't mention many defensemen in the points area,
- 55:36so that's why I'm gonna mention a lot of defensemen here in the
- 55:38back Cats Bangers area. So I know there's much to say
- 55:41here, it's just kind of hits and blocks.
- 55:44Yeah, it's not Nick Ellers, it's Nick Seeler.
- 55:47Yeah, exactly, although I don't. Know who I'd rather have?
- 55:51Yeah, it's Josh. Yeah, I.
- 55:55Do he is a honky terrorist? A fantasy hockey terrorist,
- 55:59alright. #3. Nice at #3 we've got Brendan
- 56:03Dillon of the New Jersey Devils, that was a good one.
- 56:05Another four-game week he's averaging a shot 2.4, hits 1.9
- 56:09blocks. He also had like two goals in
- 56:10those last three games. Don't expect that to continue.
- 56:13It's so funny seeing the transaction trends on Yahoo and
- 56:16you see a guy like Dylan put up a goal in two straight games and
- 56:18he's like the most added person and I'm like, do you guys?
- 56:21Just think that this is random like defensive defensive
- 56:24defensemen just now going to become prime like Alex Ovechkin
- 56:27because he scored two goals. Like you know you got you gotta
- 56:29use the logic like he didn't get any deployment improvement.
- 56:32It was just that happens every NHL player will eventually score
- 56:35a goal. Even Scott Gomez that one year
- 56:36still scored a goal. You know what a disaster.
- 56:41Look, it'll happen. So anyways, yeah, don't expect
- 56:43the offence to continue. But again, in terms of a plug in
- 56:45and get a couple shots, hits and blocks, he solid for that.
- 56:49Yeah, well said. He's got two first names like
- 56:52Ricky Bobby and. He wants to go fast.
- 56:56Exactly. Exactly.
- 56:57I think, I think it's definitely when it comes to Bangor
- 57:01defensemen that you're trying to stream, it's definitely one of
- 57:04those things that you just kind of you pick them up and you drop
- 57:08them at the end of the week when they're unless of course, they
- 57:10have another four-game week, whatever.
- 57:11But nothing special about either Sealer or Dylan.
- 57:15Sorry to their families for yes. Other than to their loved ones,
- 57:21you know not. Exactly.
- 57:22No, I'm sure they're great guys, but yeah.
- 57:26But OK, yeah, go for it at. #2 We've got Sean Walker of the
- 57:32Carolina Hurricanes 2.1 shots, 2.4 hits, 1.7 blocks per game.
- 57:37But what makes this one a little more interesting than the others
- 57:39is that with the Gosta spare injury and the Country Miller
- 57:42injury, Sean Walker was the gun power play 1 Jakey.
- 57:45I'm sorry Nikisha's not getting power Play one this year if.
- 57:47If you if they lose both those guys and and and Slavens injured
- 57:51too and they just have like no NHL defensemen and Nikitin still
- 57:54not getting that power play one spot.
- 57:56It's not going to. Been, but that's fine.
- 57:58He's still sick at bangers so so and he's still putting up points
- 58:00at even strength. But anyways, back to Sean
- 58:02Walker. He's got that power play for
- 58:03now. It's gonna be very brief.
- 58:05Both Miller and Gosta spare should be back in the next week
- 58:08or two, but until then, you know it's a banger with some
- 58:11PowerPoint upside very rare to find one of these on the waiver
- 58:13wire. So a very good stream for the
- 58:15week. I just like don't get how rod.
- 58:19As approaches. Like, no, but like it just like
- 58:22doesn't make any sense. Like Sean Walker is actually
- 58:24like a pretty fairly decent IRL defenseman.
- 58:29Yeah. So like obviously that's.
- 58:31Doesn't have an offensive bone in his body though.
- 58:33Yeah, this makes sense. Doesn't make sense.
- 58:36You import this like 6 foot 4 beach God from.
- 58:38The depths of Russian. And next thing you freaking
- 58:43know. Sorry what?
- 58:45Freaking not a swear word, but next thing you know I I'm just
- 58:49like like why? Why not use this talent on your
- 58:53team? Like I don't get it like.
- 58:56I mean, look, Technical's line for power play too, so I'm.
- 58:58Right there with you. No, that's like a true, true
- 59:02question mark disaster situation.
- 59:04Like they must hate each other. But Nikisha.
- 59:07Hasn't done anything yet. He can't even speak English.
- 59:10They're both Russian. Oh my God, there we go.
- 59:13Wow, we were. You're onto something.
- 59:18OK, OK, maybe we, huh? Maybe.
- 59:22We like learn English and then you could be power play.
- 59:24One exactly you watch. Me actually.
- 59:27Nice. Actually it's.
- 59:30A Miracle on Ice. What's wrong with you?
- 59:32OK, anybody in the discord who like, can you just like, please
- 59:35encourage both Kevin and Josh to watch Miracle on Ice?
- 59:37Because like, I'm trying and it's just not working and it's
- 59:40the best movie ever. So maybe I'll make Eva watch it
- 59:42with me tonight. We'll see.
- 59:44Please do. You're gonna love it On crime.
- 59:45Yeah, it's. Amazing.
- 59:46OK, I will say though, actually funny that I mentioned that the
- 59:51English, but I saw one of the beat reporters or whatever
- 59:54trying to like hypothesize why Nikisha didn't get put on Power
- 59:57play 1 and they were like, he doesn't speak English.
- 1:00:00And you know what? When you're on the ice.
- 1:00:01You need to communicate and like yell out, you know, like.
- 1:00:03Pass it to me so I can best of. Whatever, you know, like, so I
- 1:00:06don't know, that could be just BS, but who knows?
- 1:00:09All that to be said, Sean Walker, interesting pick up for
- 1:00:11the week. He's not gonna keep power play
- 1:00:12one once either of Miller or Gosser come back, but he's got
- 1:00:15the back hats. So with a little bit of upside.
- 1:00:18I think at this rate if Rod had Kucherov, Ovechkin, Kaprizov and
- 1:00:25like like, you know, Tretiak and Nets and.
- 1:00:30Like, you know, like, yeah. Like insert 2 amazing Russian
- 1:00:34defensemen here. I'm blanking Andre Markov and
- 1:00:36like I don't know someone. Else yeah.
- 1:00:39He would just not feel the power play 1.
- 1:00:41That's what he would. Be like I decline the power
- 1:00:45play. Exactly.
- 1:00:47Alright, let's forget the goal and regroup.
- 1:00:49Exactly. We figured it out, Josh, after
- 1:00:53all these years. He'll actually call a.
- 1:00:56The challenge, even though there's been no goal scored,
- 1:00:58just so they can take a delayed game penalty and make it 4 on 4.
- 1:01:01Exactly. Yeah, that's it.
- 1:01:04There's something going on here. I think we're fine.
- 1:01:06Yeah, we finally discovered it. Sorry, Hurricanes fans all.
- 1:01:10Right. Number one.
- 1:01:12Nice at #1 For our bangers we've got Jacob Trouba.
- 1:01:16He's back baby. One shot 3.1, hits 2.4 blocks
- 1:01:20per game with some random offence.
- 1:01:21Again, don't expect it to last, but it's fun when these guys get
- 1:01:25you points here and there. You know, maybe his demise was
- 1:01:28greatly exaggerated because he as recently as two years ago was
- 1:01:33one of the top bangers defensemen out there.
- 1:01:35Last year he had a bit of an off year.
- 1:01:37That was the year I drafted him obviously.
- 1:01:38And and now he seems to be back in his hitting and blocking
- 1:01:42ways. So yeah, great pick up.
- 1:01:45They have the two off nights this coming week so definitely a
- 1:01:48solid 1. For sure.
- 1:01:49I mean, like if this is somewhat of a resurgence to Jacob Trouba
- 1:01:54of old, like there were there were times where he was like a
- 1:01:57top five round pick in our league.
- 1:01:59He was he. Really puts up the back ends.
- 1:02:02Yeah, and like, for a defenseman to go that high with 0 offensive
- 1:02:06potential, never power play one, just shows like, OK, there's
- 1:02:10something here. What's most striking to me.
- 1:02:12OK, his most recent game that he played at the time of this
- 1:02:16recording, 28 minutes. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 1:02:19If he can do that like period and somewhat relatively
- 1:02:25consistently even 25 plus like there will be production there.
- 1:02:30Yeah. For sure, The Sims are probably
- 1:02:32not part of his game anymore. That's fine.
- 1:02:35Because when he randomly get you like A5 PIM game where he does
- 1:02:38something stupid and get some major or something like that or
- 1:02:40gets in a fight, you know, yeah, it'll come.
- 1:02:43Yeah, that's, that's fair. I mean, it's just like at one
- 1:02:45point it was just ridiculous. Like it was all he.
- 1:02:48Doesn't have a pimp this whole year.
- 1:02:49Yet I know it's crazy. So, so yeah, I mean for for his
- 1:02:53opponents. I do hope that he doesn't do
- 1:02:56that because it seemed mean, but but for fantasy, obviously it
- 1:03:01pays off. Just just this is really good.
- 1:03:04Like this is a really great, great option.
- 1:03:06And with the two off nights, I mean, if he gets the minute,
- 1:03:10man, it's crazy. Yeah, all right, all right.
- 1:03:13Our top three skater pickups for the week are Dmitri Baranov,
- 1:03:17Will Smith and Emil Heinemann. We'll check back next week to
- 1:03:21see how those guys do. Moving on to our.
- 1:03:24Goalies. One moment I know I said I'd
- 1:03:26rather Ecklund and that was that was for season.
- 1:03:30So I just wanna, yeah, correct the record there to say that I
- 1:03:33think that his, like his deployment is more reliable, but
- 1:03:35Smith is currently playing with. Celebrity, That's it.
- 1:03:37That's exactly why I put Smith over account just for this
- 1:03:39specific week because he currently has the deployment.
- 1:03:41But I fully agree with what you're saying.
- 1:03:43All right, let's go back to the goalies.
- 1:03:45So let's start with our quantity goalies.
- 1:03:47These are the ones who are going to get at least two starts for
- 1:03:49you. So at #3 we've got Akira.
- 1:03:53Akira. Do it.
- 1:03:56I love that. Kira Ashmead of the Vegas Golden
- 1:03:58Knights. Aiden Hill got injured and is
- 1:04:01week to week, and Carter Hart got signed, but he's ineligible,
- 1:04:05ineligible to play until December 1st, which means Akira
- 1:04:08Schmid is your biggest Golden Knights starting goalie for the
- 1:04:10next month. So yeah, exactly.
- 1:04:15So they play, they don't have the best schedule next week.
- 1:04:17They only have two games and against Carolina and Colorado.
- 1:04:20So it's going to be rough. But you know what?
- 1:04:23It's still Vegas. If anyone could compete with
- 1:04:25those two teams, it's Vegas who are playing amazing hockey,
- 1:04:27unsurprisingly, and Akira is gonna be the guy.
- 1:04:30So definitely good for quantity of starts and should be decent
- 1:04:33for quality, at least in terms of wins.
- 1:04:36Do you know if both those games are home?
- 1:04:39One the Carolinas away and Colorado's at home.
- 1:04:42OK, OK. I mean, look at this.
- 1:04:45This is horrible matchups. Like, let's be real.
- 1:04:48Yeah, it's OK. At the end of the day, it's like
- 1:04:50you're like you said. I mean, if there's one team that
- 1:04:53can compete with these other two studs, like Vegas could be a
- 1:04:56president was gonna say a president's choice.
- 1:04:59No Presidents trophy winner. No, you will not be able to find
- 1:05:03the Vegas Golden Knights in your local supermarket.
- 1:05:06Or maybe you. Can, but it doesn't look in
- 1:05:07Vegas. Exactly.
- 1:05:10But yeah, I know that this is this is an amazing team.
- 1:05:13And I still remember that one time you stream Schmid like 3
- 1:05:16years ago and how happy you were when he had an amazing game like
- 1:05:20speed. Yeah, real, real difference from
- 1:05:23your number today. So yeah, exactly.
- 1:05:27Yeah. All right, number.
- 1:05:29Two, we could, yeah. I think we could have a group
- 1:05:31number one and two together because they are on the same
- 1:05:35team and it is Jet grieves and Elvis Presley skins.
- 1:05:38They are splitting starts. They're going back and forth
- 1:05:40right now and Columbus has four games next weeks, including
- 1:05:43including two back-to-back. So both are guaranteed to have
- 1:05:46two starts. They're playing Buffalo and
- 1:05:48Toronto and one back-to-back and Saint Louis and the Islanders on
- 1:05:51another back-to-back. Honestly, I'm not particularly
- 1:05:53scared of any of these matchups. None of them are like the Sharks
- 1:05:56are like one of those like home runs.
- 1:05:58But I mean, obviously Buffalo has been solid so far.
- 1:06:03Toronto's been pretty bad actually, even though they
- 1:06:04expect to be better. Saint Louis has been awful and
- 1:06:06Islanders I'm just never scared of in terms of goals against.
- 1:06:10So yeah, all these matchups are solid.
- 1:06:12Both these guys have been playing super, super well and
- 1:06:14they're splitting the starts, so both of them are gonna get you
- 1:06:16the quantity and should be decent quality as well.
- 1:06:19So Lewis is an absolute, absolute bleep storm right now.
- 1:06:23Like. You had the number 2.
- 1:06:24Yeah, yeah, this is abysmal. And Toronto and Buffalo are both
- 1:06:29beatable and I just think that the Columbus is a simply better
- 1:06:31team than the Islanders. So all these other Toronto and
- 1:06:35Saint Louis are on paper the scarier matchups and Columbus
- 1:06:38could easily win them given how things are shaking up especially
- 1:06:42look like. I really don't know what's going
- 1:06:43on with Toronto goaltending. It's still growing pains.
- 1:06:46Without ones, yeah. So yeah, I mean, I wouldn't be
- 1:06:49surprised if Columbus at least competes in all these games.
- 1:06:52Yeah, and I think of these two out prefer to have Grieves, but
- 1:06:56Grieves is a lot higher rostered and Riley has been just as good
- 1:06:59as him to start the year honestly.
- 1:07:01So Redskins is very low roster. So if Greece is taken in your
- 1:07:04league and need a multiple start goalie.
- 1:07:06I mean Redskins is doing the exact same thing as Grieves
- 1:07:08easily. They're literally alternating
- 1:07:10starts and they're both putting up great performances.
- 1:07:12So I think people just believe in grieves more over the long
- 1:07:16term, which I agree with, but for now merely has is just as
- 1:07:19good. Yeah, well, they're doing the
- 1:07:21back-to-back, I mean. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:07:23Like it's a popular thing these days.
- 1:07:25I don't necessarily agree with it, but hey, it's.
- 1:07:27Happening. Alright, let's go to our quality
- 1:07:30goal. These are goals.
- 1:07:31We're gonna get you one good match up.
- 1:07:33So we'll start with Levi Merlin of the Ottawa Senators.
- 1:07:37I know, I know the Ottawa Senators have sucked so far, but
- 1:07:40they're playing against Boston and Chicago.
- 1:07:41Neither 1 is a team on particularly worried about and
- 1:07:45Marilyn is going to get one of those starts.
- 1:07:46Maryland has been good in the past and maybe Ottawa should
- 1:07:50like Ottawa should be turning it around.
- 1:07:51Obviously the loss of Brady Chuck is massive, but I'm still
- 1:07:54think they have it in them to put up a couple of solid
- 1:07:56performances. I concur this is a good pick and
- 1:08:00they can beat either of these teams.
- 1:08:02Yeah. All right, next one.
- 1:08:05I know you wanted to get to this one.
- 1:08:07Yeah, because I wanna cry. Yeah, because I just dropped
- 1:08:10this guy in our league. Because I had to do it for
- 1:08:12Dobish, because I think it was so good.
- 1:08:15I think so, too, because I think that Kara, because the Canadians
- 1:08:19are a lot better than the Pittsburgh Penguins, Whose way
- 1:08:24better goalie is Arthur Sheloves over Jerry.
- 1:08:27I think Jerry's been decent to start.
- 1:08:29Yeah, he has. And like they're.
- 1:08:31They're also doing the splitting start thing.
- 1:08:34Yeah, which is super annoying and like anyway, whatever, but I
- 1:08:38think that she loves is actually a very solid IRL goalie and this
- 1:08:41Pittsburgh team is winning like they.
- 1:08:43Are it's actually crazy. It baffles me, but I'm not
- 1:08:46complaining cuz I have Crosby and he's just killing it.
- 1:08:49I don't know how this guy doesn't age but he ages like
- 1:08:51wine. But anyways, they have a
- 1:08:52back-to-back of Saint Louis and Philly again, two teams I am not
- 1:08:55scared about at all. I love She Loves Us A as a spot
- 1:08:59pick up here this week because it's going to be A.
- 1:09:01I think it's a really good game for him.
- 1:09:02Yeah, for sure. And Saint Louis once again
- 1:09:05sucks. So.
- 1:09:06Right, for now. For now, they're gonna turn
- 1:09:08around. For now, it's awful.
- 1:09:09So they could easily win both these games.
- 1:09:12Have you noticed how like every time they've been exciting over
- 1:09:14the past five years, they the year they won the Stanley Cup
- 1:09:17and last year, they start off absolutely terribly and then at
- 1:09:21some point in the season, either over winter break or they hire a
- 1:09:24new coach or whatever, they just turn it around and go on a crazy
- 1:09:26run. Yeah, So I think that's just
- 1:09:28what they do. So they're crazy run could still
- 1:09:30come. They've done it.
- 1:09:31They did last year. They did it the year they won
- 1:09:32the Cup. But you know you gotta lose a
- 1:09:35bunch before you could turn it around, right?
- 1:09:37I guess. That's why they call it the
- 1:09:38Blues. Exactly.
- 1:09:41But I'm. Alright, numero Uno.
- 1:09:47Number one, we've got Charlie Lindgren of the Washington
- 1:09:51Capitals. They've got a back-to-back of
- 1:09:53the Islanders in Buffalo again, two teams I'm not too worried
- 1:09:56about. And the Caps seem like they're
- 1:09:58saying to me that their demise was greatly exaggerated because
- 1:10:01they're playing super well to start the year.
- 1:10:03I'm still not buying it. But you know what?
- 1:10:05Look, I never said they were gonna drop out of the playoffs.
- 1:10:07I just said they were gonna be the Presidents Trophy winner or
- 1:10:09runner up again or best in the East or whatever they did last
- 1:10:12year. So I'm sticking to it, but they
- 1:10:14are after a really hot start and Lingering is a really solid
- 1:10:16goalie. He played, I think he played in
- 1:10:18the second game recently, but his first game was a 35 save
- 1:10:21shutout. So, you know, I like him a lot
- 1:10:23as a spot. Start here and there.
- 1:10:25Is this the best division right now?
- 1:10:28Like they're so. Natural young.
- 1:10:30Like I. Mean, I mean, the Atlantics we
- 1:10:32thought was gonna be so strong and is kind of a bleep show,
- 1:10:35yeah. Wide.
- 1:10:36Open wide open, the Atlantic, like the Red Wings, could
- 1:10:39definitely make the playoffs and.
- 1:10:41Like I think it would be so fun if it was like Habs, Red Wings,
- 1:10:43Buffalo, that would be so fun. It would be awesome.
- 1:10:46Which is where the standings are reporting and but look at this
- 1:10:51like the Metropolitan Division. I have no clue how this is gonna
- 1:10:54shake out. I mean, I'm pretty sure the
- 1:10:56Islanders are not gonna be there.
- 1:10:58Even. Billy are not gonna, are not
- 1:11:00gonna make it. I could tell you.
- 1:11:01That. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:02And the others though, I mean Caroline is such a a.
- 1:11:06While he's away and they're making it, New Jersey's making
- 1:11:09it for sure. Washington it's hard to bet
- 1:11:12against them with how they're playing, but then you look at
- 1:11:14Pittsburgh, you look at Columbus, they're both killing
- 1:11:16it too. The Rangers, who knows what's
- 1:11:18going on with them. You know, I I thought they we
- 1:11:20all thought they were gonna bounce back and they they're
- 1:11:22struggling hard right now. I still do think that the
- 1:11:24injuries in the preseason are we're holding them back and I
- 1:11:27think Sullivan still getting used to how the best line
- 1:11:29combinations whatever the trocheck injury.
- 1:11:31No need to dive into that. All that we said yes, I think
- 1:11:33the Metro is one of the strongest divisions right now
- 1:11:35and it's a very entertaining to watch.
