Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: You are listening to stories from Varod.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: In this episode, the soul that got lost, the legend of the Alden Bearer tree.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Sial was the Alvalduha who took care of the souls of all living when they passed between lives.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Most souls were easy.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Blonsters, Far Skyouts, and Rurdha's first creations, before the humans, had souls that did not question things, or had any need to explore more than needed for surviving.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: The souls in the three human creations were different, though.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Seal had asked for it herself, so she blamed nobody.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: The backside of passing development and knowledge down through generations was that the souls often continued to explore after leaving their bodies.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Souls that were not human just left their bodies, and without much guidance, they moved to another successful conception and found a new place to stay.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Souls of humans, Seal had noted, tended to linger more.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: At first, she thought they were uncertain of what to do.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Then, when guidance did not help, she concluded that the human soul was less eager to return to a human body.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: If they found their life too hard, or the time in between too interesting, she could not tell.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: She wished she could ask them, but souls could not tell about their feelings.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And once they entered a body, it was too late.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: In its mother's womb, it had no way to express anything at first.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: And when they could have told Seal, their time between their lives had been forgotten.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: And so came the day when Seal found a soul missing.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: A human had died, and its soul had left the body.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: That much she knew.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: And she knew it had not found its way to a new life.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: She is an Olvaldogar, and she knows these things, even if the souls are numerous.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: She searched the skies of all three planets without finding it.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: She searched around Modhir, if its maternal powers had drawn the soul closer.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: But it was not there either.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Worried about what could have happened, she turned to the other Olvaldigars and asked for help.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: They all searched the planets in the skies for the lost human soul.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Blonster, too, took part in the search.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Being the Olvaldiger of all green and growing, he noted that a sprouting acorn differed from others.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: He was not sure if he had found the soul, though, so he called upon Seal.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: She put her hands around the acorn and realized that the human soul they searched was inside the plant.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: It surprised them both because souls had never moved far from their species.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: The Orvaldigas discussed if they should do something, if they should kill the plant and let the soul return to another human instead.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: They decided against it.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: They all agreed that they would watch the growth of the tree with vast interest.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: If all souls wandered into trees, it could be a problem.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: But, as it were, it was a matter of one soul.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: The most valuable decisions are based on the current situation, not an issue that may never occur.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: The tree grew to a magnificent oak.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Humans, as well as animals, rested in its shade.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Birds built their homes on its branches.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Animals ate of its acorns.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Somehow, both predators and prey could be found within its treetop, as if the tree itself kept them apart and comfortable, each on their side.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: When the tree died of old age, Syle waited for its soul to guide it back to humans.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: But the soul avoided Sile's hands and continued away on its own.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Surprised, Syle followed.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: It passed the sky to one of the other planets and found a new acorn about to sprout.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Then she named the soul Aldinbara, because she understood that that particular human soul would always be found within a tree, somewhere on one of the three planets.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: For every tree, Aldinbara grew bigger and supported more.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Animals sort out its acorns, the birds lay more eggs.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Humans never chop it down.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: It is as if we understand what that particular tree is.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: When the Aldinbara's tree dies, people cry because their time with Aldinbara has ended.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Then they dance with joy, knowing that other people somewhere else will have its protection for a few lifetimes.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: And they are happy for them.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: In the next episode, the Kutler.
