- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Real Talk with Mike D. Welcome to Real
- 0:07Talk with Mike D. How are you? Are you there?
- 0:14Can you hear me? Is anybody listening? School's in session.
- 0:23Pay attention. Because today, and today, we got a good
- 0:28one for you. Because today is not Friday. Today is Thursday.
- 0:33And you know what that means? That means it's almost Friday.
- 0:40Thursday is a strange day. You might be asking yourself,
- 0:43why is Thursday a strange day? Because it's not Monday.
- 0:48Thank God. It's not Tuesday, which is basically Monday's ugly cousin.
- 0:54And it's not Wednesday because Wednesday is that awkward day
- 0:57in the middle where you're just trying to convince yourself
- 1:00That the week is moving. And it's definitely not Friday.
- 1:06But it's close. So damn close. Thursday is basically Friday
- 1:11standing at the end of the hallway saying, Hey, I'm
- 1:14almost here. Just hang on a little bit longer. And
- 1:19you're standing there thinking, I'm trying. I'm freaking trying. I'm trying.
- 1:26Thursday is the day where you start mentally checking out
- 1:28of work, even though you still have things to do.
- 1:31You're sitting at your desk looking at the clock. 9.17 a.m.,
- 1:36you think. Okay. Only about seven more hours. Then you
- 1:41look again. 9.19. What the hell? Who put the clock
- 1:47in slow motion? But there's something about Thursday. Thursday gives
- 1:52you hope. Because once Thursday arrives, you can finally see
- 1:56the finish line. You made it through Monday. You survived Tuesday.
- 2:00You crawled through Wednesday. And now Thursday is saying, come on, Mike,
- 2:04one more. One more day after me. And honestly, sometimes
- 2:09that one day feels like the longest day of the
- 2:11entire week.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Because Friday is sitting there in the distance. You can
- 2:18practically taste it. But you still have to get through Thursday.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And Thursday can be exhausting. Because Thursday you're tired. You're
- 2:30not just physically tired, you're mentally tired. You've been dealing
- 2:34with work. And sometimes you just wake up Thursday morning
- 2:37and think, can I just skip today? Wouldn't it be
- 2:42nice if we all had a skip button? You wake
- 2:45up Thursday morning, hit a button, and suddenly, boom! It's
- 2:49Friday afternoon. No work. Just peace. Unfortunately, we don't have
- 2:56a skip button. Thursday reminds me that sometimes you don't
- 3:01have to have everything figured out. Sometimes all we need
- 3:07to do is just make it through that day. That's it.
- 3:10You don't need to worry about tomorrow. We don't need
- 3:12to worry about next month. And we don't have to
- 3:15worry about if everything's going right or wrong. Sometimes our
- 3:20goal is simply get through Thursday and that's enough and
- 3:27maybe you're listening to this right now and you're having
- 3:29one of those days maybe you're tired maybe you're stressed
- 3:31maybe you're like Mike shut the hell up we don't
- 3:37always see the battle happening inside of each other you
- 3:42could be standing next to somebody at work today who
- 3:44looks perfectly fine but inside they're struggling we all struggle
- 3:51We all struggle at certain times of the day, certain
- 3:55times of the month, certain times of the year, sometimes
- 4:01every day. And that's life. But you know what? You
- 4:05wake up the next day and you try again. And
- 4:08that's what Thursday represents to me. Keep going. You know,
- 4:15we haven't reached Friday yet, but we're getting close. And
- 4:19maybe that's exactly where we are in life. Maybe you're
- 4:24not where you want to be. Maybe things haven't worked
- 4:26out the way you imagined. Maybe you're still trying to
- 4:29figure things out. But that doesn't mean the story is over.
- 4:33It means you're still in the middle of it. You know,
- 4:36in today's world, in today's economy, a lot of people
- 4:40are struggling mentally, physically, financially. They may be feeling loneliness, depression, anxiety,
- 4:51or all of the above. But I want you to know,
- 4:54tomorrow will be better. Maybe next week will be better.
- 5:00Maybe next month changes everything. You just don't know. All
- 5:06we can do is keep moving forward. Trying to live
- 5:11a better tomorrow than we do today. Work hard and
- 5:17do the best we can. It doesn't matter if you
- 5:21live in the north, the south, the east, or the west,
- 5:23or the center of America. We all struggle. We all
- 5:28struggle with different things. We are all going through this together.
- 5:32And I want you to know that you're not alone. Today,
- 5:40I really want to talk about positivity. Trying to stay
- 5:45positive in a world where there's so much negativity. This
- 5:49is not a political statement in the least. This is
- 5:52just not being negative and trying to think of the
- 5:57positive in the world. You know, you turn on the news,
- 6:01most of it's negative. You look at the world, most
- 6:03of it's negative. Financially, mentally, physically. We're all going through it.
- 6:13Sometimes we just need to go out. We need to
- 6:19go out and party and have a good time and
- 6:21let loose and forget about all of our problems. Or
- 6:26maybe you prefer to stay home. Maybe you're ordering pizza.
- 6:30Maybe you're just sitting on the couch watching TV. Or
- 6:34maybe you're doing absolutely nothing and there's nothing wrong with that. Honestly,
- 6:39I like doing that. I like sitting at home and
- 6:41doing absolutely nothing. Because going out is expensive and who
- 6:47can afford that right now? I know I can't. Sometimes
- 6:53doing nothing is exactly what you need. But Thursday? Thursday
- 6:59is the setup. Thursday is the appetizer before the main course.
- 7:05Thursday is the trailer before the movie. And Thursday is
- 7:08the almost there. And sometimes almost there is enough to
- 7:12keep you going. So if you're listening to this on
- 7:16a Thursday morning, maybe a Thursday afternoon, Or maybe a
- 7:20Thursday evening. Here's what I want you to remember. Ladies
- 7:24and gentlemen, you made it this far. Whatever happened earlier
- 7:28in the week, it's behind you. Whatever went wrong, it's
- 7:32behind you. Whatever somebody said, it's behind you. You can't
- 7:38change yesterday, but you can decide what you do today.
- 7:43Today's Thursday, so take a breath. Drink your coffee. Put
- 7:48your head up. Handle whatever you've got to handle. And
- 7:53then go home knowing you made it through another day.
- 7:56And you did the best you could. Because sometimes we
- 8:00don't give ourselves enough credit. We celebrate the big victories.
- 8:04We forget about the little ones. You know, it could
- 8:08be as simple as getting out of bed. That could
- 8:10be a victory. Going to work can be a victory.
- 8:15Taking care of your family is a victory. Maybe making
- 8:22it through a difficult day is a victory. Getting through
- 8:26something that nobody else knows you're dealing with, that's a
- 8:30victory too. So don't underestimate yourself. You all are stronger
- 8:37than you think. You all survived every bad day you've
- 8:41had so far. And that's a pretty damn good record.
- 8:47So I want you to remember something. When you're sitting
- 8:51in your house, your apartment, wherever you live, and you're
- 8:55thinking to yourself, I'm going through this alone. Nobody understands
- 9:00what I'm going through. Nobody will ever relate to me.
- 9:04That is not true. Everybody has struggles. Everybody has troubles.
- 9:11Everybody has something that they're going through. Some people hide it.
- 9:16Some people are vocal about it. But we all have
- 9:21something that we're going through. Nobody's life is perfect. Nobody.
- 9:28So if you look at social media and you think, wow,
- 9:30this person has everything going on. They're married. They're happy.
- 9:36They have this, that, and the other. But you never
- 9:39know what that person might be going through. They just
- 9:43put on a good front. And a lot of people
- 9:49do that because they're afraid to show their feelings. They're
- 9:52afraid to open up to people. They're afraid of what
- 9:55people might think. And you should never, ever. worry about
- 10:01what people think about you. Life is too short. Life
- 10:05is too short to be unhappy. So on this Thursday,
- 10:10I want you all to remember that you're not alone.
- 10:16Somebody out there is going through the same exact thing
- 10:18you are They just might not be talking about it
- 10:24or they may not be vocal about it. But everybody
- 10:29has troubles and everybody is going through things that nobody
- 10:35knows about. But as always, that is going to do
- 10:39it for today. I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday.
- 10:43As always, please be the reason someone smiles. Make someone happy.
- 10:49And for God's sake, Be kind to each other. Until
- 10:54the next one, hope you all have a great day. Peace!
