Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Some movies take longer than others to shoot, particularly a
- 0:05Speaker 2: big budget popcorn blockbuster like Avengers Doomsday, which reportedly took
- 0:09Speaker 2: six long months to film. But Paul Mescal's new movie
- 0:12Speaker 2: makes that schedule look like a blip because it's.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Taken, again, there's 20 years to shoot.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's kind of hard to believe, but it's a
- 0:18Speaker 3: film by acclaimed indie filmmaker Richard Linklater called Merrily We
- 0:22Speaker 3: Roll Along, who's always been fascinated with aging in his films.
- 0:27Speaker 1: And he's done something similar.
- 0:28Speaker 3: His 2014 movie Boyhood was shot over 12 years with
- 0:32Speaker 3: the same actors to show the growth of the central
- 0:35Speaker 3: character from age six to 18.
- 0:37Speaker 4: But this movie is actually pushing it way further. Paul
- 0:40Speaker 4: signed a contract committing to nine different shoots across two decades.
- 0:45Speaker 4: They've actually already shot four of the chapters.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yeah, they've quietly been at it for a few years,
- 0:50Speaker 2: which is why the actual due date for the film
- 0:51Speaker 2: is 2040, 14 years from now. But it takes serious
- 0:54Speaker 2: dedication to a director's vision to carve out time across
- 0:58Speaker 2: that much time, two decades to bring it to life.
- 1:00Speaker 1: So look for Merrily. We roll along in theaters 2040.
- 1:02Speaker 1: That's direct from Hollywood.
