Abraham never owned the land God promised him. The only piece of it he ever bought was a grave for Sarah. Hebrews says these heroes died “still living by faith.” They welcomed God’s promises from a distance, like waving to someone you love who is still far up the road. How did God respond to people still living in tents and still waiting? He was not ashamed to be called their God.
