Lucas: No need to be nervous. Today's topic is super practical. We're going to talk about two adjectives you can use all the time: hot and cold. Luna: Oh, like the weather? Or food? Lucas: Both! In Cantonese, hot is 熱. Can you try that? Luna: 樂? Lucas: Almost! It's 熱, with a high-flat tone. 熱. Luna: 熱. Lucas: Yes! And cold is 凍. 凍. Luna: 凍. That sounds a bit like 'dong'. Lucas: Exactly. 凍. Good. Now, let's add to it. If you want to say 'so hot' or 'very hot', you say 好熱. Luna: 好熱. Lucas: Perfect. And 'so cold' is 好凍. Luna: 好凍. Lucas: Right. So let's practice with a little scene. Imagine you walk into a room and it's really hot. What do you say? Luna: 好熱! Lucas: Excellent! And if you grab an iced drink and it's really cold? Luna: 好凍! Lucas: Nice! Now let's learn a question. To ask 'Do you feel hot?' you say 你覺得熱唔熱？ Luna: Wow, that's a mouthful. 你覺得熱唔熱？ Lucas: You got it! 你 means you, 覺得 means feel, and 熱唔熱 is 'hot or not hot'.
