- 0:35Festival. Joined the musings of an American Sanyasi as Sadvi shares the wisdom and
- 0:40teachings of her Guru, His Holiness Pujiaswami Chinnant Saraswatiji. Welcome everyone to inspiration
- 0:53and transformation from the holy banks of the Sacred Gunga River in the land of
- 1:02Rishikesh, India. The only blessing left that I want in life is that
- 1:10my thirty eight year old daughter should be married. Is there anything you can
- 1:17recommend that I can do to make sure that happens? So? Wanting our
- 1:26children to be happy is what parenthood is about. We want our children to
- 1:34be happy. We want them to be successful. We want them to be
- 1:41peaceful, we want them to have even more than what we have in life.
- 1:53The dilemma arises when we think that we know what they need to be
- 2:02happy, and a lot of times we don't, and we end up actually
- 2:08creating more friction through our agenda than help. So you haven't mentioned in the
- 2:23question whether you're thirty eight year old daughter wants to be married, whether she's
- 2:29looking for a spouse, or whether this is something that in your mind you
- 2:36feel, well, she would be so much happier if good cable shad the
- 2:42karlofor subtikojata. But that's our way of thinking, that's our agenda, and
- 2:51what we're seeing a lot when I imagine it's always happened, but we're seeing
- 2:57it more and more in recent general rations is this conflict between parents who want
- 3:07the best for their children, only want the kids to be happy, and
- 3:13yet the parents' vision of what would make the children happy it's actually quite different
- 3:21from what the children themselves think would make them happy. And that's really important
- 3:29thirty eight is she's an adult, and I have to imagine that if getting
- 3:42married were a priority for her, if that were something that she was really
- 3:49really looking for she'd make it happen. But if by thirty eight she's not
- 3:58married, what that means to me is that that isn't such a priority for
- 4:01her. Maybe her career is more of a priority, maybe traveling is more
- 4:08of a priority, Maybe her spiritual practice is more of a priority. Maybe
- 4:15she's in beautiful relationship but they're just not married. Whatever it may be.
- 4:21But I would say that there's absolutely nothing that you, as a parent can
- 4:27do to make your thirty eight year old daughter get married. And the best
- 4:33thing that you can do for her happiness, her peace, and also your
- 4:43relationship is for you to let go because on some level, she knows you're
- 4:53not satisfied with her life. On some level, she knows that you want
- 5:00something from her, of her, for her that isn't there, and that's
- 5:06going to create a challenge for her, that's going to create a sense in
- 5:11her that somehow she's letting you down, that somehow she's disappointing you, that
- 5:17somehow she's not fulfilling what you want for her, And that takes away our
- 5:26happiness, takes away our peace, takes away our freedom. So certainly ask
- 5:34her, Darling BETHA. Honey, whatever you call her, Are you looking
- 5:45for a spouse? Is that something you'd like me to help you with?
- 5:49And if she says, oh yes, please, for God's sakes, I'm
- 5:53dying to get married. Could you just you know, do something, well,
- 5:58then by all means, let me know, will think of something.
- 6:04But my instinct, given that she's thirty eight, is that she's making different
- 6:11decisions in her life and that the last thing that she needs is to feel
- 6:15like she's somehow letting you down or she's incomplete or inferior because she's not married.
- 6:28Because what that message does is it says, on your own who you
- 6:31are is not enough. Jupati will, you are not complete. And that's
- 6:43that's a really dangerous message. I mean, marriage is wonderful. Lots and
- 6:49lots of people in the world are very very happy in marriage. But for
- 6:59a lot of people that's not necessarily their dharma or maybe it's just not their
- 7:03priority right now. And I know a lot of people both monastic renunciance and
- 7:13Yasi's as well as non Signyasi's non renunciance non monastics, who are not married
- 7:24and very very happy. Their lives are very full. And I also know
- 7:30a lot of people who are married and are who are miserable and who wish
- 7:35that somehow they could get out of the marriage in order to be happy and
- 7:43peaceful and free. So it's neither the presence of a marriage nor the absence
- 7:48of a marriage that actually brings that that joy, that meaning, that fulfillment
- 7:58in life. We've all got different, different paths to walk, different dharmas
- 8:05to unfold, and so the best gift you can give your daughter, the
- 8:09best blessing for her, is that she should find happiness, she should find
- 8:18peace, she should find fulfillment meaning in her life as it is, and
- 8:28that she should feel totally free and empowered, not just by society but by
- 8:35you, especially her parents, because no matter what we say, we always
- 8:41want our parents to approve, to be proud of us, to respect the
- 8:46choices we make, to understand us. And so the best blessing for her
- 8:56is joy and peace and fulfillment in whatever path she chooses, and for her
- 9:03to know that your blessings as her I'm not sure if it's a mother or
- 9:11father, but as her mother or as her father, that your blessings are
- 9:16with her, not blessings that she should get married, but blessings with her
- 9:22for whatever path she chooses, and that you fully support her, and you
- 9:28fully respect her, and you fully see her and recognize her as a full
- 9:37being chi equip pati ho kny. It's not a husband or a wife that
- 9:45makes us full. We are full and in our fullness. Should we choose
- 9:54to get married, wonderful and in our fullness, should we choose not to
- 9:58get married, also wonderful. If you're looking for a relationship to complete you,
- 10:09you're going to be bitterly disappointed when you get involved in one, because
- 10:15you're going to find that it doesn't. The relationships that are the most meaningful
- 10:22and successful are two people fully grounded in their own fullness and completeness who come
- 10:31together in that fullness. So don't think that she needs it in order to
- 10:41be full. Bless her with your love, with blessings of happiness and peace
- 10:50and respect and celebration whatever she chooses. And again, if she says to
- 10:58you, yah yah kuch koov bind me of bartner, find me a spouse,
- 11:01well then let me know. Un we'll figure it out. But check
- 11:09with her, check with her whether she wants your involvement or whether she's really
- 11:16happy the way she is. You're listening to OTRFM, part of the IOM

- 12:33station. Welcome back to inspiration and transformation. I'm so glad to have you
- 12:43all back here with me. We have to realize that not forgiving is actually
- 12:52keeping us stuck, that it is that holding on to a grudge that keeps
- 12:58us stuck. My favorite story about this is the city in India that was
- 13:05overrun with monkeys and the city council was trying to figure out what to do,
- 13:13because obviously you don't want monkeys over running your city. But on the
- 13:18other hand, where a non violent people, they're not going to take out
- 13:22guns and shoot them, they're not going to poison them. And so someone
- 13:28came up with this brilliant idea. They took coconuts and they hollowed out the
- 13:33coconut, and inside the coconut they put something that monkeys love, a piece
- 13:43of fruit to sweet. But they made the hole in the coconut big enough
- 13:52for an empty hand like this to go in, but too small for a
- 13:58closed fist to come out. So the monkey would stick its hand in the
- 14:03coconut, grab hold of its prized treasure a banana, a sweet, and
- 14:13then it would be stuck because the fist couldn't come out. Now, you
- 14:18would think, because monkeys we know are very intelligent, they are our closest
- 14:24DNA relatives, you'd think they would be smart enough finally to realize, oh,
- 14:31it's holding onto this thing that makes my hand stuck, my legs stuck,
- 14:37and they would let it go and free their hand. But they never
- 14:41did. Now you imagine, if you've got four legs and three of them
- 14:48are free, but one of them is stuck in a coconut, you actually
- 14:54can't run. Imagine a monkey running with one legs stuck in a coconut.
- 15:01No candy, You can't climb a tree, you can't swing from branches,
- 15:07because if you watch monkeys, you'll realize they actually use all four of their
- 15:11legs. So the coconut ended up being this perfect trap in a way.
- 15:20They no longer could run, they couldn't swing, they couldn't climb, and
- 15:24so what the city council was able to do was go out with big nets
- 15:28and get them and then take them back into the jungle or forest. Now
- 15:35I love that because this is exactly what holding on to our our grudges does.
- 15:46We think that through this grudge, through this pain, that we're somehow
- 15:54going to get something. That's why we hold onto it. On some subconscious
- 16:02level, the ego thinks it's going to get something. Maybe we're going to
- 16:07get something from the person who harmed us. Maybe we think they're going to
- 16:11come back, mafia mangangay, They're going to apologize, they'll beg for forgiveness,
- 16:18they'll love us again, they'll see how much they hurt us. They'll
- 16:22do something really nice to make us feel good. Or maybe we think that
- 16:27we're going to get something from society. People will see what's happened to us,
- 16:33they will feel badly. They will give us sympathy and empathy. They'll
- 16:38take good care of us, they will love us. Or maybe it's something
- 16:44in our own lives. Maybe as long as I identify as being harmed in
- 16:51that way, being abused, being betrayed, being cheated, being lied to,
- 16:59being a band and whatever it was, well, it's it's already made
- 17:04excuse that I have not to step up to the plate of my own life.
- 17:12It's already made excuse never to trust. It's already made excuse never to
- 17:18fulfill my dharma, because well, you know, I was harmed, I
- 17:23was this, I was that. That's why I'm afraid. That's why I'm
- 17:27miserable. That's why I'm depressed, That's why I'm anxious. It's the may
- 17:33couchcardine, party Hune. It's already made excuse, it's a crutch. So
- 17:42if we're not letting go, you have to realize there's there's something that unconsciously
- 17:49our ego thinks we're getting from it, whether from someone else, from our
- 17:56own selves. And this is where we have to realize that it's actually like
- 18:03the monkey situation, we're not getting anything from it. Like the monkey thinks
- 18:07it's going to get a sweet, it's going to get a fruit. This
- 18:10banana is just it's coming, it's coming, when actually that is now what
- 18:15has handicapped me. That is actually now what is making me stuck. If
- 18:25the monkey wanted to be free, all it has to do is be prepared
- 18:29to let go of its closed fist over the sweet or the fruit, and
- 18:33then it's free. It's hand would easily come out of the coconut, it
- 18:37would run away. It's the very thing that it thinks it wants that ends
- 18:45up bringing about its downfall, that ends up making it stuck. Today is
- 18:52Ghita Jayanti and in the Bug of a Gita Baguan Krishna emphasizes over and over
- 18:57again letting go of our ignorance, being prepared to let go of the ignorance
- 19:07because our ignorance makes us suffer. People say ignorance is bliss. It is
- 19:14not bliss. In our ignorance. We get angry in our ignorance. We
- 19:22feel jealous in our ignorance. We compete in our ignorance. We feel like
- 19:29we are less than in some way. Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is
- 19:37suffering. And so, if you really want to let go of this pain,
- 19:45this grudge, first of all, you have to be deeply, acutely
- 19:48aware that holding onto it is what's making you stock. It's like if I
- 19:57had a hot coal and I threw it to you, and you didn't quite
- 20:03know what it was, so you caught it, and as you catch it,
- 20:06you realize it's burning your hands. Well, you're gonna as fast as
- 20:11you can. You're gonna let it go because you realize it's burning my hands.
- 20:18I don't need to give you a lecture to let it go. You
- 20:22don't need to read all seven hundred verses of the Bug of Adgita to let
- 20:25it go. Instinctively, we know this is harming me, it's burning me.
- 20:33It's a hot coal. You're gonna drop it. And so you need
- 20:41to be acutely aware of how this grudge, how this pain is keeping you
- 20:48stuck. Allow yourself to really introspect on that. What is it in your
- 20:55life that is stuck because of that? And then when you go to let
- 21:02it go, close your eyes and really dive within and find in your body,
- 21:18because we hold pain in our body, Find in your body where is
- 21:25that pain? Look at it? Does it have a color, does it
- 21:30have a shape, Is it solid? Is it moving? Where are you
- 21:37holding this pain in your body? A lot of us hold it in our
- 21:41stomachs and our solar plexes, and our necks, and our backs and our
- 21:45shoulders. Some of us hold it in our hearts, maybe other parts of
- 21:52your body. But where is it? And it may not be only one
- 21:56place, it may be several places. What does it feel like? What
- 22:00memories are associated with it? And then really feel yourself extricating it from you
- 22:11like it were a tumor, because it is. Go within visually and feel
- 22:18yourself extricating this, this tumor of pain from within yourself, and then feel
- 22:32yourself holding it in your hands. Find a sacred jugna, a sacred river,
- 22:45Find the base of a tree, something that is an embodiment of the
- 22:52divine and embodiment of the universe, of nature, of the healing aspects of
- 22:59Mother Nature, and offer it. Put it into the fire, put it
- 23:06into the water, bury it in the earth, knowing that you're giving it
- 23:11back to the universe. And as you do it, do it with a
- 23:18big exhalation, because we hold our breaths in our pain and our grudges and
- 23:27our anger. Really allow yourself just let it go. And you may certainly
- 23:41find that you let go some of it now, and that a week or
- 23:45a month or a year later you find, oh my god, there's another
- 23:48layer. That's all right, let it go again. We don't necessarily always
- 23:57get it all at one, because there may be layers to the unconscious that
- 24:03we don't even necessarily see. So whatever's there, pull let and let it
- 24:10go, and if it arises, let it go again. Just keep giving
- 24:15it back to the universe. And every time that the mind goes there,
- 24:23think of the coconut. Think of the coconut. No, no, no,
- 24:27no, no, no, I know what I know where that's going.
- 24:30It's like if the monkey were smart enough to pull its hand out,
- 24:33but then it saw another coconut, it would be smart enough they learn,
- 24:37Oh no way, I'll take my bananas from the the open cart, not
- 24:42from inside the coconut. I know what happens because we learn it was maybe
- 24:48fuzz jut the usiva chard me my fuzz jat the I've seen it before.
- 24:56I know what happens. I get stuck. I know where that thought is
- 25:00going. It takes me to misery. I don't want to go there.
- 25:07So next time it begins to arise, just look at it like you were
- 25:11the monkey looking at the coconut, going not this time, not this time,
- 25:18and bring on a different thought, a thought of love, a thought
- 25:23of joy, Bring on your mantra. But give your mind something else so
- 25:33that it doesn't keep ruminating. And it works. I've seen it in my
- 25:47life. I've seen it in so many people's lives. It works. This

- 27:26Welcome back. This is Sadvi Bagavati Saraswati with inspiration and transformation. God is
- 27:37inside of us. What does that mean? When we say God is inside
- 27:44of us, what does it mean? Does it mean that God is,
- 27:48you know, sitting on top of your kidneys, right next to your adrenal
- 27:53glands and you just have to somehow be able to see it. What is
- 28:00mean God is inside of us? What it means is the truth of who
- 28:07we are. The core of who we are is divine. If I say
- 28:14to you, who are you up corning, You're gonna tell me your name,
- 28:19You're gonna tell me where you're from, Maya, may you com kurte
- 28:26the hone. I'm this one's wife or husband or mother or father. You'll
- 28:32give me your job, You'll give me all these things. But that isn't
- 28:37who you are. Those are all attributes of the body. Your age,
- 28:44your height, your weight, your size, your bank account, your job.
- 28:48These are attributes of the body. Body keeps changing. That's not who
- 28:56you are. The core of who you are is the divine. So when
- 29:03we say go within, what it means is that divinity you are looking for
- 29:11is within you. You've been created of the Creator. There was a a
- 29:23temple in I think it was Thailand that was the temple of the Clay Buddha.
- 29:33There was this huge Buddha made of clay, and one day and everybody
- 29:40would come and worship this beautiful clay Buddha. And one day the monks of
- 29:45that temple, we're cleaning the clay Buddha, and they saw some light,
- 29:52something was shining. They thought, what is that? So they started gently,
- 29:57slowly try to seeky what is shining and they could see in a crack
- 30:04in the clay it looked like gold. The lucky son used me so D
- 30:12D D D. Slowly they started moving away the clay and they discovered that
- 30:19actually inside the clay Buddha there was a golden Buddha. And it turned out
- 30:26that originally it was a mon there of the golden Buddha. But then all
- 30:33of the invaders came at a time when they were stealing everything, melting everything,
- 30:41looting everything. So the monks in the temple usi same. At that
- 30:48time, the monks of the temple of the Golden Buddha decided, well,
- 30:53let us cover the Buddha with clay paki legga ki it's worthless, so that
- 31:00the invaders wouldn't harm our Buddha. And the good news was that the Buddha
- 31:07was left unharmed, but the monks died, so there was nobody left too.
- 31:12New that inside the clay buddh other actually was gold. And I love
- 31:19that because this is a perfect metaphor for this teaching of God is within you.
- 31:29We live like we are made of clay, that we are this kind
- 31:34of junk. We are our weight, our size, our skin, color,
- 31:40our jobs, our success, our relationships. But we want to be
- 31:47gold, right, We want that light, and so we look outside for
- 31:53it. And it would be like covering the clay Buddha up with gold.
- 32:00Right, it's with the hay Sona. It is gold already. You don't
- 32:06need to find more gold to stick on top of the clay. All you
- 32:13need to do is remove the clay, melt the clay, and then you
- 32:21have that light. And so the teaching is we are looking for the divine
- 32:29outside of us, when actually who we are at the core, the very
- 32:37core of who we are, like the Buddha was gold, the core of
- 32:39who we are is divinity. We've been created not just by God but of
- 32:49God, like a drop is the ocean, but we're looking outside for that
- 33:01divinity. Cello Eck degree Lelo e course card case certificate Lelo Yekurovo. We're
- 33:08looking to keep doing more things to feel like it makes us more divine,
- 33:15more light, when actually all we have to do is remove that clay to
- 33:22find the gold, the divinity within ourselves. And so that goes back to
- 33:29your question of how do we find it, Well, it's simply a matter
- 33:35of removing that which is not true self. So we practice this beautiful meditation.
- 33:45There's a beautiful meditation called ninety, which is literally not this, not
- 33:52this. So we begin by saying, I am not my shawl, I
- 33:59am not to my side. Thinka. We all understand that I'm not my
- 34:06skin. I'm not the blood beneath my skin. I'm not my bones.
- 34:15Did beyond may essay adathing You think, oh, yeah, of course,
- 34:22tica, I'm not my bones. I know that I'm not my organs,
- 34:27not my kidney, not my liver. But then we get more subtle.
- 34:32I am not my brain. Right. My brain is just made up of
- 34:39neurons, gray matter, white matter. The brain functions with chemicals and electricity.
- 34:53What makes thoughts, emotions, feelings are There's this electrical charge that runs
- 35:00in the brain and then the neuron that has the chemicals, it releases the
- 35:06chemicals, then that makes more electricity, and the next neuron than that neuron
- 35:12releases its chemicals. That's what we call thoughts. If we say you may
- 35:17essay soach, then yeah, I am feeling this thinking that what that really
- 35:27is saying is the electricity in my brain is causing the neurons in my brain
- 35:36to release chemicals that form a pattern that we call sadness or we call anger.
- 35:47But it's just chemistry and electricity. I am not chemicals. I am
- 35:57not electricity. Right, we know that, which means I'm not My thoughts
- 36:06means I'm not my feelings, not my emotions. De deda, You go
- 36:14one by one what I am not, and then we hit that beautiful space
- 36:22in which the clay has been removed, not clay, not clay, not
- 36:30clay, and then that true experience of who we are, that goldenness,
- 36:40it arises. It's there, happening up. But that's the meaning of God
- 36:49is in you, all right. God is also outside. God is everywhere,
- 36:54a sneaky god pevil mujmei. God is in everything. So when we
- 37:01say God is in you, it means you don't have to look outside.
- 37:08But if it's easier for you to begin by experiencing God in a month there
- 37:15in a deity and mother Gunga in a tree, that's fine. Also it's
- 37:22the same God. Doesn't matter. But eventually, eventually the awareness arises Kim
- 37:31which maybe that same divinity I am worshiping outside also exists in me. This

- 39:27transformation. How do you deal with envy and hate from others, from friends
- 39:37and even from close relations. We don't have any control over someone else's emotional
- 39:47state. Sadly, it would be really wonderful if we could dictate and control
- 39:57and change how people feel. Don't be angry, calm down right? How
- 40:02many times have we tried to say to somebody, calm down, stop being
- 40:08angry, don't be sad right. We say these things, but has anybody
- 40:15ever actually stopped being sad because somebody said don't be sad. I mean,
- 40:22think about when you were sad and people who say, oh, don't be
- 40:27sad. Does it make you think, oh, all right, okay,
- 40:31I won't be sad you've said not to be. Or if you're really angry
- 40:37and the person you're angry at says don't be angry, does that make you
- 40:44not angry? And of course the worst is when people say calm down,
- 40:52don't be stressed. Right, That's when you get people saying, I am
- 40:54calm you know. So we don't have any control. Trying to control other
- 41:05people's emotional state is just an exercise in frustration and futility. What we have
- 41:20control over is ourselves. And so when someone is envious of us or hating
- 41:28us, it sparks in us upset, pain, hatred, anger, And
- 41:45that's the part we do have control over. So if someone around you is
- 41:51feeling envious or if someone around you is feeling hate, what you've got to
- 41:58work on is how do you yourself clear? I mean, we just got
- 42:02out of the COVID pandemic. What did we do when we moved through the
- 42:07world in a place where people were potentially sick? What did we do?
- 42:17We wore masks, we stayed socially distant, We washed our hands, we
- 42:23did the things that we were taught, we learned over the last several years
- 42:28to do to protect ourselves. You couldn't make somebody not sick, but you
- 42:36could make yourself not contract their sickness. You could keep yourself healthy, protect
- 42:45yourself. And it's really about the same thing. Our spiritual practices are actually
- 42:53about building our spiritual immunity. So I don't mean you have to stay separate
- 43:00from people or actually wear masks or but the way that we protect our spiritual
- 43:08immunity is with our meditation. A mask over our face isn't going to help.
- 43:15Spirituality is not about distancing yourself from people. It's about staying connected,
- 43:24but in a way where someone else's ignorance or ego waves of emotional state,
- 43:37anger, envy, fear, confusion that they don't end up literally making you
- 43:43sick, which is mostly what happens when somebody's angry or full of hate or
- 43:49full of envy. They make things really difficult for us. They're the people
- 43:54who are really difficult to be around, especially when they are colleagues, family
- 44:00members, and you've got to see them every day work, with them.
- 44:06The only way is to develop a really strong spiritual immune system through recognizing that
- 44:15you are not someone else's projections. If I sit over here and I say,
- 44:21oh, you are like this, you are like that, you are
- 44:23this, well, that's only going to impact you if you buy into my
- 44:31story. Then you get upset, then you fight back. But if you're
- 44:40walking down the street and there's somebody, you know, where you're in a
- 44:45subwoy station or something like that, where there's lots of people and a lot
- 44:50of times you see people who are not in their right senses and they're kind
- 44:52of standing in a corner shouting and screaming. Now, if you're walking down
- 44:59a are you walking through a subway station and somebody is clearly not in their
- 45:06senses and they're yelling, and you walk by and they say you are the
- 45:10evil Witch of the West. Now are you going to get all worked up
- 45:16about that? I mean, is it going to ruin your day? You
- 45:22realize, first of all, I'm not the evil Witch of the West.
- 45:27Like, clearly the person is having some sort of psychotic episode. But what
- 45:36you're going to realize most importantly is what they're saying is about them, not
- 45:42about me, doesn't matter what I look like, doesn't matter who I am.
- 45:46This person is in the middle of a hallucination in which what they are
- 45:53seeing is the Wicked Witch. I could have been anybody walking by. It's
- 46:00irrelevant. Their hallucination is showing them wicked Witch of the West. But that's
- 46:09not about me, So I'm not going to get upset about it. I'm
- 46:14not gonna lose my sleep or not be able to eat my food or need
- 46:19to go to therapy because some drunk or not in their senses person told me
- 46:24that I was the wicked Witch. In the same way, when people in
- 46:32our lives who may not so obviously appear to be under the influence of drugs
- 46:40or alcohol or not in their right senses, when they lash stuff at us,
- 46:49we have to remember it's about them, it's not about us. They
- 46:54may not be actually drunk or on drugs, but they're certainly under the influence
- 47:00of ego, of ignorance, of fear of their own illusion, their own
- 47:10sense of being not enough that leads them to envy me for having more than
- 47:19they think they have and just triggers their feelings of not enoughness. But it's
- 47:28not about you, and So whether it's a family member, whether it's a
- 47:35colleague, whether it's a drunk person or a psychotic person on the street,
- 47:40you have to be clear, this isn't about me, it's about them,
- 47:49and so don't buy into it, don't react. Maybe if you're you know,
- 47:57a spiritual person or practicing loving hindness meta meditation, maybe as you walk
- 48:02by that person screaming at you, maybe you'll send them, send them some
- 48:07loving kindness because you realize they're really suffering, and because you don't get triggered
- 48:15by what they've said, because you realize they're sick, you're able to send
- 48:20them energy of love. You're able to send them. May you be in
- 48:25peace, May you be healthy, May you be safe, because we understand
- 48:31you are suffering. It's like if you walk by somebody who's coughing and sneezing
- 48:39and really sick, well, first thing, you're gonna want to make sure
- 48:45you don't catch it. But once you know you're safe, you're gonna feel
- 48:53empathy or at least sympathy for them. You are a minimum some pity for
- 49:00them that they are suffering so much so, in the same way, when
- 49:07people are lashing out, realize it's because they are not well. They're in
- 49:16a state of dis ease. Now it may not be some diagnosable disease by
- 49:24medical textbooks or psychology textbooks, but they are definitely not in ease in health.
- 49:36Because if we are, that's what we share. If I'm in a
- 49:39state of joy, I'm going to share joy. If what I'm sharing is
- 49:45hatred and envy, it's because that's what's brewing inside of me, all right.
- 49:51I mean, if you walk by somebody and they're sick and they throw
- 49:54up on you, or you pick up a baby who looks really cute but
- 49:59who hadn't yet been burped, and the baby kind of pukes all over you,
- 50:02well, it's not about you. It's about what that person has inside
- 50:12them. Whatever they have inside them is what's going to come out on top
- 50:15of you because they weren't well, because something in them wasn't settled, and
- 50:22so it came out on you. So your task is twofold number one,
- 50:30first and foremost, protect yourself with your spiritual immunity, with your meditation,
- 50:38with your energy. We talk a lot in here about conscious energy, either
- 50:45receiving or transmitting, because we're always doing both, but we can very consciously
- 50:52also decide what we're going to do more of. So when you're in a
- 50:58time, in a place that's deeply enriching and filling, you're in the Gunga
- 51:06Arty, you're on the banks of Gunga, you're in a beautiful hug with
- 51:10a loved one, you're smelling some beautiful flowers, you're in a beautiful,
- 51:17deep, meaningful conversation or connection. That's the time you open yourself and you
- 51:23want to just receive and receive beautiful energy. And then there's times when,
- 51:31to the extent possible, you want to turn the receiving off and turn on
- 51:37the transmission. And that's when you're going to be in places where you know
- 51:43the energy is not what you want to be receiving. It could be a
- 51:46really crowded subway car, it could be a family dinner, it could be
- 51:52a board meeting. But before you go into it, consciously, real eyes,
- 52:00okay, this is my transmitting time. So we protect ourselves with meditation,
- 52:08with being conscious of our energy, and also in the same way with
- 52:14COVID, where we were told you know six feet, give yourself six feet.
- 52:21Typically a sneeze can't go that far. So if you're six feet away,
- 52:24you're safe. In the same way, there are sometimes people where really
- 52:31the best thing to do is just to see how distant you can become.
- 52:38Can't always do it, I know that, But to the extent possible,
- 52:43can you maintain a distance of some sort to protect yourself? And if you
- 52:51can't, then maintain that distance emotionally at least if you can't maintain it physically.
- 52:59When you're with them, just make sure that you're constantly chanting your Mantha,
- 53:04that you're doing something else with your energy, the energy, the awareness
- 53:09is on your breath, you're chanting the Mantha or reciting a prayer or an
- 53:14affirmation. And then the second part is to remember it's not about you,
- 53:21it's about them, And to the extent possible, offer them your love,
- 53:28offer them your kindness, your compassion, your empathy, bear them and amm
- 53:34offer them your sympathy for the fact that they are suffering, and that's why
- 53:40you're they're essentially vomiting on you. So feel badly that they're not well.
- 53:50But do whatever you can to stay far enough away that you don't keep getting
- 53:54vomited on. And that power or of your meditation, well, we'll really
- 54:01protect you. It forms this energetic mask that really keeps anybody's stuff from impacting
- 54:13you. You're able to just see it. Oh yeah, there's that's their
- 54:16stuff. Oh yeah, they're like that. Okay, but it stops impacting
- 54:23us. This brings to a close, this hour of inspiration and transformation.
- 54:35Thank you so much for joining me. I'm so glad to be together with
- 54:40you all each week, and I look forward to being together again next Thursday,
