Transcript
- 0:00Coming up today on Mini Scroll, a major update on the $200,000
- 0:04Lego theft, Timothy Chalamet's questionable brand
- 0:08ambassadorship, and the 30A influencer trip gone wrong.
- 0:14Hi everyone. Welcome to Mini Scroll, the
- 0:17daily Internet culture podcast bringing you the biggest stories
- 0:20from social media, the creator economy and the digital space.
- 0:23Every Monday through Thursday and sometimes Fridays, I'm your
- 0:27host Lauren Meisner, the founder of the Australian youth digital
- 0:31media brand Centennial World. Welcome back to Menil Scroll
- 0:35everyone. If you guys are just listeners
- 0:38to the podcast and you don't watch, you're going to have like
- 0:40no idea what I just said. But basically yesterday and
- 0:44today, the sign that we have beside me that always says like
- 0:47mini scroll 2026 says Minil scroll 2026.
- 0:51So many people commented about this and we were interested to
- 0:54see if anybody would. OK, so here's the story behind
- 0:57it. Basically Wednesday nights is
- 1:00when high stakes record their episodes.
- 1:02So Annabelle and I came into the office yesterday and they've
- 1:04been in the night before obviously because yesterday was
- 1:06Thursday for us. We come in and the sign says
- 1:08Manil scroll 2026. Obviously the girls were just
- 1:11being like silly. So I sent them a picture in our
- 1:14group chat and I was like help, what is this?
- 1:16And they were like, I dare you to keep it like that for mini
- 1:18today. And I was like, OK, sure dare
- 1:21accept it. So that's why you got Manil
- 1:23scroll yesterday. You're getting Manil scroll
- 1:25today and then we will be back to a regular mini scroll on
- 1:29Monday. So no, you guys did not miss any
- 1:32type of like inside joke. People are like, did I miss
- 1:34this? Like, I listen everyday.
- 1:35I'm so confused. Honestly, I was confused too.
- 1:38You should ask Maddie and Laura because they invented mineral
- 1:40scroll. All right, anyways, for Friday
- 1:42menu guys, this is actually a pretty like a normal episode.
- 1:45It's not that rogue, it's not that random.
- 1:47It's not like as much of A free for all.
- 1:49So I'm really excited about it for once.
- 1:52OK, let's get into the stories for today.
- 1:55All right, the first story that I have for you guys today is
- 1:57coffee. Zilla has entered the chat with
- 2:00the $200,000 Lego theft drama with some new discoveries.
- 2:05So if you don't know who coffee Zilla is, his real name is
- 2:07Steven and he's a big YouTube. He has like 4.5 million
- 2:10subscribers and he largely investigates scams, particularly
- 2:14in cryptocurrency. He dropped an hour long video
- 2:17investigating the Lego scandal and here is what we've learned.
- 2:21Also, if you want like a really big recap on this, I did a mini
- 2:25deep dive episode last Friday on this entire scandal.
- 2:28So go back to that. But like at an incredibly high
- 2:31level. If you don't want to go watch
- 2:32that video, a man named Brian Menzel put his his family's Lego
- 2:36collection on consignment at a Bricks and Mini Figs store in
- 2:40Salem, OR USA, the franchise. When he put it on consignment,
- 2:45I'm going to call them Bam. OK, Bricks and Mini Figs, but
- 2:47I'm going to call them Bam. This location.
- 2:49This Bam location was run by franchisees Crystal and Ben
- 2:53Gorman. I was calling her Chris last
- 2:55episode because she introduced herself in one of their YouTube
- 2:57videos as Chris. Her name is Crystal Chris.
- 3:00So he retained ownership and was supposed to get a cut as the
- 3:04items were sold. He was supposed to get like
- 3:06between 60 to 70%. The running figure, at least
- 3:10online for what the Lego collection was worth this entire
- 3:13time has been $200,000. So then the franchise owners had
- 3:17put the store up for sale after acquiring this consignment.
- 3:21They said they had to like move overseas really suddenly.
- 3:24So on November 14th, 2024, corporate's new franchisees, 2
- 3:29men named Brandon Best and Josh Josh Johnson who run another BAM
- 3:33location did a takeover of the Salem store.
- 3:37This is the moment that the collection allegedly went
- 3:40missing. So corporate's press release
- 3:42claims that they only found between 2000 and $5000 of
- 3:46Brian's collection in the store afterward, which obviously is
- 3:49roughly like 10 times less than what was expected.
- 3:52This entire situation got investigated by a YouTube named
- 3:56Reckless Ben. Not to be confused by the former
- 3:59franchise Ben Gorman. So Ben and Crystal were the
- 4:03couple that owned the BAM location.
- 4:06Reckless Ben is like a random YouTube who started
- 4:09investigating this so he made several videos about the
- 4:12situation and he even got arrested over his investigation
- 4:16into this. So now BAM has filed lawsuits
- 4:18against Reckless Ben and Brian Mansell.
- 4:21Reckless Ben has fled to Mexico after being released from jail,
- 4:25and the corporation put out this lengthy blog post, seemingly
- 4:28putting the blame for the mishandling of this Lego
- 4:31collection on the previous owners of the franchise, Crystal
- 4:35and Ben Gorman. That is where we left off last
- 4:37week. OK, so there are several new
- 4:39findings from Coffee Zilla's investigation.
- 4:41He spoke to every single person involved.
- 4:43So I'm just going to go through these findings, not in any like
- 4:46particular order. First, the $200,000 figure was
- 4:50wrong. This is kind of the main finding
- 4:52and it leads to a lot of his other findings because if it was
- 4:56not actually worth $200,000 then that means a lot out of the
- 5:00allegedly stolen or like missing Lego Might not actually be
- 5:05missing, might not actually have been stolen or missing.
- 5:07Crystal Gorman's actual inventory sheet put the real
- 5:11value at around $107,000 because she estimated on the low end it
- 5:16might sell for $85,000, on the high end it might sell for
- 5:20$120,000. So midpoint estimate is like
- 5:23$107,000. Reckless Ben admitted that he
- 5:25did pick up the $200,000 as a round attention grab number for
- 5:30a press release before he'd done a real item by item evaluation.
- 5:35So kind of the missing like 200K worth of Lego was already not
- 5:40totally accurate. A lot of coffee.
- 5:41Zillow's video went into reconstructing the day of the
- 5:47handover between the Gorman's and the new owners, Josh and
- 5:52Ben. Ben Brandon.
- 5:54Sorry. Oh my God, it's like last time
- 5:57last Friday. I was like having such a hard
- 5:58time with these names because they're all just like basic
- 6:00white men names, OK? Between Josh and Brandon, who
- 6:03were taking over the store. So in terms of the records that
- 6:06were kept, Crystal's records said that about $24,000 of
- 6:10Brian's collection was recorded as sold already, and Brian had
- 6:14been paid around $17,000 for that.
- 6:19So this math implies obviously that around $82,000 of his
- 6:23collection should still have been in the store on the night
- 6:25of the takeover. However, corporate is only
- 6:28saying that they found $2000 to $5000 worth of Lego of Brian's
- 6:33Lego. OK, so rather than trust either
- 6:35side, Coffee Zilla essentially hand tagged Star Wars Legos
- 6:40across 200 plus photos and videos from Crystal, matching
- 6:44them against Brian's collection. And the result was about $21,000
- 6:49of Brian's Legos that can be proven on camera to have been in
- 6:52the store that night, which again is about three to five
- 6:56times what corporate was saying in their press release.
- 6:59And then Coffee. Zilla also found that there did
- 7:02seem to be significantly more Legos in the photos that he was
- 7:05shown by Crystal and Ben, who were the owners of the franchise
- 7:10at the time, from the night that this all happened.
- 7:12He said there was a lot more Legos in their photos than there
- 7:16were in corporates photos. Crystal and Ben were able to
- 7:18explain that there were items that they would put out on
- 7:20display when the store was open, but they would take them down
- 7:23and bring them into safes in the back in the evening.
- 7:27And the reason that matters is one of the main points that
- 7:30corporate was saying in their press release, I mean, I went
- 7:32over it in a pickup last episode, but they were really
- 7:35trying to put the blame on like this mix up on Crystal, who was
- 7:39I think the main owner of the store.
- 7:40There was a point in the blog post where they said that there
- 7:44was not a lot of inventory left when they took over the store
- 7:48from her and that it was like disheveled, like it was not in
- 7:51good condition. And so it seemed to me it felt
- 7:54like they were trying to paint a picture of Crystal as like not
- 7:57being a super responsible store owner and not having made a lot
- 8:00of sales, she didn't have a lot of inventory, like, just like
- 8:03not keeping things up. And so that discrepancy is
- 8:07important because the photos that the Gormans were able to
- 8:10provide to Coffee Zilla painted a different picture.
- 8:13And then Coffee Zilla also went through like their inventory
- 8:16with corporate. So like with the CEO and the CEO
- 8:19of BAM went through Crystal's final inventory list and
- 8:24compared it to corporate's inventory list, and there were
- 8:27discrepancies there. Of course, corporate's whole
- 8:29thing is like we can't necessarily trust Crystal's
- 8:31spreadsheet, like she can just write whatever she wants.
- 8:33But it is important to note that there were discrepancies.
- 8:36OK? The most damning evidence that
- 8:38everybody is pointing to in the comments is this U-Haul
- 8:41situation. So in the initial story, Crystal
- 8:44essentially said that she saw AU Haul in the parking lot of the
- 8:49Salem store on the night of the takeover.
- 8:51She said she didn't really notice it at first, but after
- 8:54Brandon who it was Brandon Best who took over the store with his
- 8:57colleague or business partner Josh.
- 8:59Brandon was the one that was like physically there.
- 9:01Though she said it was only after Brandon told her that he
- 9:03was taking the keys and locking her out of the store that she
- 9:07kind of paid attention and realized that he had a large
- 9:11U-Haul truck there. Now corporate denied this and
- 9:14they also denied this to Coffeezilla.
- 9:16To Coffeezilla, they said that Brandon had a rental car and
- 9:20they specified it was not a U-Haul.
- 9:23However, coffee Suzilla. By brightening and zooming in to
- 9:28footage and photos everything he had from the parking lot of that
- 9:32evening, he was able to find a U-Haul.
- 9:35Then he when he confronted corporate about this, their
- 9:37story seemed to change overnight.
- 9:40They admitted that a U-Haul actually was involved, but they
- 9:43offered this kind of like convoluted explanation.
- 9:46They said that like a camper trailer towing weight problem
- 9:51forced Brandon to rent AU Haul instead of a rental car as they
- 9:55initially thought he had rented. And then a former employee of
- 10:00the location that Josh and Brandon already owned before
- 10:04taking over the Salem location contacted Coffeezilla and spoke
- 10:08to him in this video and basically said that that evening
- 10:13when the store was taken over, Brandon showed up with a medium
- 10:17sized U-Haul full of used Star Wars and city Lego sets.
- 10:21And this employee claims that Brandon said to them that
- 10:25Crystal had, quote, stolen Legos and left the country because
- 10:28remember, they were going to move overseas.
- 10:30So then this is where Coffee Zilla is trying to piece
- 10:33together the timeline because Brandon claimed that it took
- 10:36about four hours to unload the Legos, but there were only three
- 10:41hours between his last Salem photo and dropping EU Haul back.
- 10:46Like the timestamp of when EU Haul was returned to the
- 10:49station. That's not where you returned
- 10:51U-Haul. I don't know wherever you
- 10:52rented, which obviously is not enough time if he's saying that
- 10:55he drove to another city in this U-Haul, loaded the Legos,
- 10:59unloaded the Legos, and then returned EU Haul.
- 11:02And there were some discrepancies in Crystal's
- 11:04bookkeeping and some errors in her bookkeeping that kind of did
- 11:09raise some red flags, like there was $10,000 sold but never
- 11:14recorded. There was this like layaway
- 11:16situation where Crystal and her husband who were running the
- 11:20store allowed people who wanted to possibly buy the like, Star
- 11:24Wars that are the special like Brandon's.
- 11:26I'm not Brandon. Oh my God.
- 11:27Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben. No, not Ben.
- 11:34Brian. Oh my God, that wanted to buy
- 11:38Brian's Legos. They would allow people to put
- 11:41it on layaway. So basically like pay a very
- 11:42small deposit and then they would hold it for them for a
- 11:44week and if they didn't come back to buy it, it would go back
- 11:47out to market. And they said that that is not
- 11:50very typical at a BAM location. And a lot of different like BAM
- 11:54employees and people involved in the company confirm that to
- 11:57coffee zila. That's not like super
- 11:59commonplace, but because this was a special set, Crystal and
- 12:02Ben claimed that's why they did that, why they allowed that.
- 12:05So they're definitely were some like questions about like the
- 12:08record keeping, the bookkeeping from Crystal and Ben in general.
- 12:12Part of this record keeping discrepancy was Coffeezilla
- 12:16discovered that Brian had a separate side deal with M&R
- 12:19Productions who had purchased some Legos reportedly held in
- 12:23storage. So Crystal's early inventory had
- 12:26a location column listing many Star Wars items as being in
- 12:29quote UN quote storage. And Coffeezilla found that 100%
- 12:33of the items matching Brian's collection inventory happens to
- 12:36be listed under storage and many of those appear in M and Rs
- 12:39photos and can't be found in the store.
- 12:42So basically coffee Zilla estimates that like 10,000 to
- 12:46$20,000 of the missing quote UN quote missing Lego is actually
- 12:49explained by this side of the deal and was never even given to
- 12:53Bam. And then in his closing kind of
- 12:55confrontation with corporate, Coffee Zilla discovered the
- 12:58inventory spreadsheets. Metadata shows that it was
- 13:01created on September September 6th, 2024 under a Bam Salem
- 13:05corporate account. And why that's important is
- 13:08corporate had repeatedly been claiming that they were never
- 13:11given documentation, yet the file was archived in their own
- 13:17system and created by their own company and on camera.
- 13:21The COO actually did appear genuinely unaware of this when
- 13:25Coffeezilla confronted him about this.
- 13:27So in general Coffee Zilla's conclusion, he feels like
- 13:30everyone was partly right and partly wrong.
- 13:33Far more of the collection was in the store on November 14th
- 13:36than corporate claimed, but the original $200,000 figure
- 13:39obviously was very inflated and much more was actually sold or
- 13:44put on layaway than Brian was ever paid for.
- 13:47So after accounting for the proven in store Lego, the M&R
- 13:51side of that deal, the layaways and the unrecorded sales Coffee,
- 13:54Zilla estimates that only about 10,000 to 20,000 $1000 of Lego
- 13:58is genuinely unexplained. Think now this paints a more
- 14:01full picture. It's not that, you know, Crystal
- 14:04and her husband were trying to quote UN quote steal things or
- 14:07be shady. And it's not necessarily that
- 14:09the corporation was trying to like steal this consignment or
- 14:13say that it was theirs or whatever and be shady.
- 14:16I believe from this video at least, it's changed my mind in
- 14:20terms of how I see this. And I believe now I think it's
- 14:23more of that there was just like an incredible lack of
- 14:26communication and record keeping.
- 14:28And it's allowed for, you know, 10 to $20,000 worth of Lego
- 14:33inventory to slip through the cracks.
- 14:35And I don't think it was like intentionally one person or, you
- 14:39know, a group of people trying to, like, steal it.
- 14:42I don't know if you guys have watched the video.
- 14:44Let me know what you guys think about that.
- 14:45All right, the next story that I have for you guys today is
- 14:47Timothy Chalamet is facing backlash for partnering with
- 14:51essentially A gambling company. So Timothy Chalamet just became
- 14:55the face of a campaign for a brand called Kolshi Kolshi.
- 14:58Kolshi Kolshi announced him as the face of its new campaign
- 15:01with a launch ad that shows Timmy basically name dropping
- 15:05the brand in random situations. So he's at the dentist, he's
- 15:08banging on his ceiling at noisy neighbors, He's testing
- 15:11keyboards at Guitar Center without ever actually explaining
- 15:15what the platform is. The Internet is immediately
- 15:18losing its mind over this as a Kolshi is a prediction market
- 15:21where users bet money on the outcome of real world events.
- 15:25So unlike sports books, prediction markets are not
- 15:28restricted to just sporting events.
- 15:31Users can put money on elections, wars, global
- 15:34temperatures, economic issues, even entertainment outcomes like
- 15:38who's going to win the Oscars. And it's kind of that breath
- 15:40that can make it more controversial because they sit
- 15:43in this like regulatory Gray zone between finance and
- 15:46gambling. I think we can all agree that
- 15:48like promoting and being a brand ambassador for gambling sites,
- 15:54it's not a good look. Timothy Chalamet, what are you
- 15:56doing? You had defenders in the ballet
- 15:59scandal. OK, this fall from grace with
- 16:02him. It's really insane to see.
- 16:03It's obvious that this is the person that he's always wanted
- 16:05to be. But it's so fascinating to watch
- 16:09how quickly and directly almost he has been, quote UN quote
- 16:15selling out. We know that Timothy Chalamet
- 16:17and Kylie Jenner, they keep going to the Knicks games,
- 16:19right? And so one of the top comments
- 16:21about the situation, somebody wrote, had to pay for those
- 16:24courtside seats somehow, another top comment reads, Dune Funds
- 16:29couldn't have dried up that fast.
- 16:30Look, being someone whose company makes most of our money
- 16:34through partnerships, like, I am no stranger to the friction you
- 16:37might feel being presented with an amount of money that you
- 16:40really need to keep things going.
- 16:43And it's like kind of a Gray area.
- 16:46And you're like, I'm not sure if we should do this partnership.
- 16:50I don't know if this is like ethically sound and like having
- 16:53those conversations. It's something I take very, very
- 16:55seriously. We have said no to like multi 6
- 16:59figure deals multiple times. I can't explain how much those
- 17:05deals would have like completely changed the trajectory of the
- 17:07company and would allow me to sleep at night if I had that
- 17:11amount of money in our bank account.
- 17:14But you know, you have to make the ethical choice, right?
- 17:17I'm no stranger to that ethical dilemma, right?
- 17:20And I understand sometimes, like, people have to take it
- 17:24depends on what kind of company. But like, sometimes people have
- 17:26to make the decision to like, keep their company going, put
- 17:29food on the table, pay their staff, like whatever it is,
- 17:32whatever they need the money for.
- 17:33I understand sometimes you just have to get your bag.
- 17:35Timothy Chalamet is an A list actor who was dating a
- 17:41billionaire family. I guess everyone has a price.
- 17:45I don't know what he's doing. He needs like a chill moment.
- 17:47Like he needs to step away. Whoever does his PR needs to
- 17:51take him out of the spotlight. Stop allowing him to do like
- 17:54partnerships and interviews and stuff.
- 17:55And just like he needs a year away.
- 17:57OK. And the last story that I have
- 17:58for you guys today is there was this influencer trip.
- 18:03People are calling it the 30 a influencer trip and it's going
- 18:06viral for a whole bunch of drama.
- 18:09SO30A is a region in Florida. I think I was looking into it.
- 18:13I mean I know it's in Florida, but I think it's a region.
- 18:15I was looking into it. Apparently it's like a bunch of
- 18:17beaches and 30 AI believe is like the highway that goes
- 18:20through it. Apparently it's a very, very
- 18:21nice vacation location. OK so this is what I have
- 18:24gathered from what's going on. A creator named Ella Stowe
- 18:27planned this trip. So Ella is a lifestyle
- 18:30influencer with 384,000 followers and she is based out
- 18:34of Pennsylvania. The trip was not a brand trip,
- 18:37OK. It was something put together by
- 18:39Ella and she invited a bunch of like random influencers who I
- 18:42believe kind of interact with each other online and stuff.
- 18:45They live all across the USI don't know if any of them or
- 18:48most of them had met each other yet at that point.
- 18:50So it was paid for out of pocket by the creators to go on this
- 18:54like group vacation. It's like a girls trip.
- 18:57Ella was calling it an influencer trip.
- 18:59She wasn't calling it a brand trip as far as I know.
- 19:01She was calling it an influencer trip and I do believe when
- 19:04people hear the words influencer trip, they think brand trip.
- 19:08So they think all expenses paid, but it was paid for out of
- 19:11pocket by these girls. OK, So everybody was posting
- 19:14content. I will say some of the girls,
- 19:15they were posting content near the end of the trip.
- 19:18They went on it last week. They were posting content near
- 19:21the end of the trip, but Ella was not in.
- 19:24They're like more recent content, which is interesting.
- 19:27And now it seems we know why. So a few days ago, a creator
- 19:31named Aubrey posted a video on TikTok and the caption is
- 19:35literally an essay long. Let me read it.
- 19:37This past week, myself, along with seven other content
- 19:40creators, were invited on a trip hosted by an influencer.
- 19:43The eight of us who were invited were treated with hostility,
- 19:46anger, embarrassment for no reason.
- 19:48By day two of the trip, we had enough.
- 19:51Many were wanting to leave early and looking at new flight times.
- 19:54When we confronted this person with our feelings on day three
- 19:57about her behavior, we were met with deflection, gaslighting,
- 20:00and shifting the narrative to point blame at us.
- 20:02I approached the situation with grace and respect, but it was
- 20:05not reciprocated in any way. I tried to level set and find a
- 20:08common ground multiple times but to no avail.
- 20:11This person told me they saw no issue with their behavior,
- 20:13actions, and tone towards everyone else on the trip.
- 20:16Once this person was removed from our daily plans, which we
- 20:19clocked because she is not in a lot of their content later on,
- 20:23we were able to finally. Enjoy the trip.
- 20:24The next morning there was another verbal altercation, this
- 20:27time including the individual's mother and again no resolution
- 20:30was found. Then on the final day myself
- 20:33along with another creator were the last two left.
- 20:35Another verbal altercation ensued.
- 20:37Again I was told that this person and their mother saw no
- 20:40issue with their behavior. 6 of the 8 girls still decided to
- 20:43leave the trip early Friday morning and by Friday evening
- 20:45myself and other creator were staying in a hotel to get away
- 20:49and it is extremely unfortunate. Money, time and resources were
- 20:53spent to try and make this an enjoyable trip.
- 20:55But there was 1 issue. No apologies were given and this
- 20:58person stated repeatedly that they saw no issue with their
- 21:01behavior so I can only take their word from it and remove
- 21:04myself from them. And the rest of the girls on the
- 21:06trip are doing the same. OK so people were like what did
- 21:09I just stumble across? Like what is this?
- 21:12And then when you open the comments a creator named Ava
- 21:15Christine commented. Thank you.
- 21:17I have a video posted on my page as well.
- 21:20I was invited and then uninvited the next day because there quote
- 21:23wasn't enough room for me. I was so so so upset because
- 21:26this was my first influencer trip and I genuinely couldn't
- 21:29wait to meet new people and make new friends.
- 21:31So it seems like Ella was the person that Aubrey and this Ava
- 21:35girl were referring to because Ella responded to this in her
- 21:40own TikTok. This TikTok has been deleted but
- 21:44a creator on TikTok was able to screenshot it and used in a
- 21:47video so this is what it reads. Respectfully speaking, I am
- 21:50choosing to move forward and not dwell on the past.
- 21:52I've previously extended apologies and admitted my faults
- 21:55and they were not acknowledged or reciprocated and that is OK.
- 21:58If people who have never interacted with me want to form
- 22:01opinions based off of hearsay, more power to them.
- 22:04I know my truth and I have done everything I can to try to make
- 22:07peace, but that isn't the route people want to go.
- 22:10Which is fine, but I'm going to choose peace for me and wish
- 22:12them nothing but the best. And then she finishes with that
- 22:15quote. What Sally says about Susie says
- 22:17more about Sally than Susie. And the reason why that's
- 22:19important is because then Aubrey responded to that and she made a
- 22:24TikTok post that also seems to have since been deleted that
- 22:27reads when Sally calls Susie out for Susie's mean behavior, that
- 22:31means Sally doesn't put up with BS.
- 22:33OK, and then let me play a clip from Ava Christine's video.
- 22:36So she's the one that commented on Aubrey's original post saying
- 22:39I was invited and then uninvited the next day.
- 22:42So cool, that's so exciting to follow me on TikTok, Instagram.
- 22:45And then she messaged me and in her message she says something
- 22:48along the lines of like, hey girl, I'm hosting this
- 22:51influencer event. Like I see her in Florida.
- 22:53It's going to be in Florida. Like, would you be down to come?
- 22:56Like you totally would fit perfectly.
- 22:58You match the vibe, yadda, yadda, yadda.
- 23:00I'm like, yeah, like I'm so down.
- 23:02Like this is so exciting. I've been waiting to like be
- 23:05invited to an influencer event or something along the swords
- 23:09because I'm almost at 20,000 followers and I'm just like when
- 23:13will that stuff like start happening?
- 23:15When does that stuff come? So I respond I'm like yes girl
- 23:18absolutely I'm so in. She then responds back and says
- 23:22like OK great. Like each girl has to pay $500
- 23:28in order to come $500.00 for an influencer event.
- 23:35When does anyone ever pay to go to an influencer event?
- 23:41I would love to know. So I was just sitting like
- 23:43thinking about this and I'm like, you know what?
- 23:45Like a lot of other content creators that I follow are going
- 23:48like maybe it will be a good thing.
- 23:50I will pay the $500 and I will go.
- 23:53So then because I would have to drive like 2 hours away or
- 23:56something. I think it was like two 2 1/2
- 23:58hours away. I asked, is it possible if my
- 24:01sister comes? I made it clear, like, she
- 24:05wasn't obviously going to be, like, really doing things with
- 24:07us. I just wanted someone to ride
- 24:08with me in the car so I didn't have to drive by myself with me
- 24:11only being 19. Like, my parents aren't the
- 24:14biggest fans of me driving several hours away by myself.
- 24:18I said, we're obviously going to pay you the $500.
- 24:20Like, she can just sleep in my bed.
- 24:21Like, she doesn't need anything. But would it be OK if, like, she
- 24:25comes? And now if you are a good
- 24:27person, if you're truly a girl's girl, you'd be like, yeah, girl.
- 24:31Like bring your sister. I don't care about her social
- 24:34media, nothing. First thing she says back, can I
- 24:38see her TikTok? Mind you, my sister and I have
- 24:41like a 1516 year old age gap. I'm 19, just turned 19 May 11th.
- 24:45She's 33. So like that just brought me the
- 24:48wrong way to begin with. Because like, you should
- 24:50understand if it was me planning this, I'd be like, yes,
- 24:54absolutely. Your sister's more than welcome
- 24:56to come. Like the more the merrier.
- 24:57We will make the room for her. That's it.
- 25:00So after she sent that, I was just like, OK, like my sister's
- 25:03like, not really a big content creator yet.
- 25:05Like she's just starting her posting out, but like, OK,
- 25:08whatever. Like just forget it.
- 25:10So I told her I'm going to send you the $500.
- 25:12I'm just waiting for a brand deal to pay out.
- 25:14And then I'll just send that right to you tomorrow by saying
- 25:16that. You would think that she'd be
- 25:18like, oh, OK, Like she's actually coming.
- 25:21She's just going to send me the money tomorrow.
- 25:23So like, her spot is taken. Like this spot is taken right?
- 25:28Wrong. So Ava is clearly talking about
- 25:30Ella because she notes that she was planning the trip and also
- 25:32has almost 400,000 followers and as we know Ella has almost
- 25:36400,000 followers. So first of all, like I said,
- 25:39the whole like influencer trip thing I think has tripped some
- 25:43of these creators up a little bit and like the
- 25:46misunderstanding of like what this trip was from the get go.
- 25:50I think Ella needed to position this as like, it's not an
- 25:52influencer trip, It's a content collab trip.
- 25:55Like they were all paying to go on vacation together to
- 25:59collaborate on content the same way that a bunch of creators pay
- 26:02to live in a house together to make content day in, day out in
- 26:05a content house, right? I see this as the same thing.
- 26:08This is not like unusual in the creator space.
- 26:10I don't believe that Ella did a very good job of explaining that
- 26:15or positioning the trip in that way.
- 26:18And I think it led to a lot of infusion from these creators.
- 26:21And some of them are newer creators.
- 26:22So they've never been to brand trips before.
- 26:24They've never been to influencer events.
- 26:26You know, they might not be very ingratiated in this industry
- 26:29yet, might not like fully understand.
- 26:30But if six out of eight girls are allegedly having a problem
- 26:35with someone, that's a problem. You know, I'm not trying to
- 26:38defend Ella's behavior. Like, we don't even really know
- 26:40what happened. But I am inclined to believe, of
- 26:44course, if that many people on the trip are having issues, are
- 26:47choosing to leave early and stay in hotels like was obviously a
- 26:50big problem. What I think the girls need to
- 26:52do now, No one else on the trip I have been checking.
- 26:55As far as I can tell, nobody else on the trip who went on
- 26:58this trip has made a video about this.
- 27:00They need to. I know they probably don't want
- 27:03to be known for drama. And I do think Aubrey bringing
- 27:05this to TikTok in general was like maybe not the best move.
- 27:11It was definitely a questionable move to an extent.
- 27:14However, now that it's out there and people are starting to talk
- 27:17about it, the girls who are on this trip, I know they probably
- 27:20don't wanna make enemies and they don't wanna be in drama,
- 27:21but they need to make videos because this is going to blow
- 27:24them up. People are starting to talk
- 27:26about this. People are questioning like
- 27:29there's not a lot of info out there about these people and
- 27:31about this trip. Like everybody's like, what is
- 27:32going on? I need more information.
- 27:34The girlies need to capitalize on this moment.
- 27:36That's my opinion. If it's already out there,
- 27:38somebody's already roped you into this drama.
- 27:40Jump on it. Anyways, guys, that's it for
