Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Didn't you kind of think that talk shows were going away?
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Like Kelly Clarkson just retired.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: And I thought, are we still watching talk shows?
- 0:08SPEAKER_02: I don't think they know what to do during the day on television.
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: That's why they're there.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Right, exactly.
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: You can only watch so much Family Feud.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: I Although I really can watch a lot of Family Feud.
- 0:19SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 0:19SPEAKER_02: That show goes off the rails more than that.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: I just think it's so funny when they add a talk show.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: I'm like, who is watching talk shows?
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Like I haven't watched a talk show since like my grandma was alive.
- 0:28SPEAKER_02: Well, and it's like when soap operas were around, you know, and that used to cover all the daytime television.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: Then they most of them, except for like Days of Our Lives in General Hospital, everything else died.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: And when you become the talk show host, do you know that your career is on the downswing?
- 0:46unknown: I mean.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Or do you feel like you're one of the people that's gonna revive it?
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna tell you why I'm saying this.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: I don't know if you're gonna revive it, but there's now it's getting to the point that if you okay, do you remember at the time there used to be a talk show?
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: There was there were so many hosts of the during the day talk shows.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know, you had Sally Jesse Raphael.
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: You had Oh, yeah.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: In the 90s.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: Yes, in the 90s it was huge because it was like 20 of them.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Now there's like three.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Well, let me tell you another one.
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: One of the problems Drew Barrymore is like one of them.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, I know.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Well, and I again never watched it.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: I've seen like a clip as I'm passing through on my algorithm, but I never stay on it.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: And then even with Kelly Clarkson's, not one time did I ever watch this talk show.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: I would see a clip.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Remember Montel Williams?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, what that's now that's an American treasure.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: Now he he is an American treasure, and he got real sick for a while, didn't he?
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: I think he has MS or something.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: I think he does.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: But the reason I'm saying this is because one of the property brothers is now doing a talk show at Daytime Talk Show on CBS.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: And I thought, well, a little eye candy for the ladies.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Right, but what are you gonna are you gonna talk about improving my home?
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Like, where are we going with this?
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: And who's gonna be watching this?
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: Although you know those guys, they only pick up a hammer for a quick hammer shot of their show.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: They have personally not rebuilt anything, probably in 20 years since you know their original property brothers and stuff took off.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: They probably haven't made anything since they did woodworking class in high school.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: When my brother came home with the the shelf, he also built a toolbox at one point.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Did you ever do this in woodworking?
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: I never took woodworking.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, my brother did.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: And it it honestly was it was really cool, don't get me wrong.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: But then my brother never pursued it.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: And I think I think once you have it, because he actually came home with some some um, I would say classic pieces.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: I think my mom actually still has both of those things that I just heard.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Of course she does.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: I mean, she hands you a tub of your crap, like, get it out of my house, but she'll keep his shoebox.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: But yeah.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: The shoe polish kit, remember those?
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: I just think I don't know if this is the best choice for you because talk show hosts is like, hey, how about one foot in the grave of your career?
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: There is uh there is that thought.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: I mean, I don't know.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: I gotta see the pla the uh the format for that too.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: Like you said, are they gonna throw in little handy things like but then again, there's a smart to that.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: And hear me out on this.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: I will.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: How many women specifically this took off during the pandemic?
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: All right, if you go with traditional ways things were done, most of the time, well, I'm the man of the house, I can do things.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: Women very much up their skill level of home improvement and then crafting and redoing.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: I know women that redo uh old furniture and stuff like that.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: So you you know, this might work if you take, you know, Mr.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: Handsome pants from the Property Brothers and then you mix in like a light project.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: Uh well, it was sort of like um you know how uh uh why can't I think of Oprah's friend, the doctor?
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: He's in the government now.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: Dr.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: Oz.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: You know, if you think about it, Dr.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: Oz did some medical, not 100% the whole way through.
- 3:56SPEAKER_02: This would be one of those things if the women because prime primarily these shows are aimed at women.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: And you Well, I mean, yeah, they picked Jonathan Scott of Property.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: You you pick a a couple little projects and you start showing it.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: It may not be the worst, the worst programming decision.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Is the light projects because he doesn't know how to do anything heavy?
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: No, no, it's just it's like that's how they spice it up.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: They'll be like, you know, now ladies, you can refinish this tabletop as well.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: It's it's easier than you think.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: So now I'm in.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: Now I'm in, you know.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: So degrading.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Like because since I've since I've been in this house in November.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: Maybe when I said now ladies was what made it degrading.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: So since I've been in this house, I have installed a new garbage disposal, changed out my toilet.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: What about Butz's face showing you how to do that on the show?
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: And then interviewing uh, I don't know, uh Leah Mason.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: Hey, coming up, Leah Mason.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: So listen, I've got to change a garbage disposal, and I don't have a damn clue what I'm doing.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: That's where the entertainment is.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: That is.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: It's seeing uh celebrities really just foober it up.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure what the word foober is.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Fuber is a new one.
- 5:06SPEAKER_02: I think you meant foobar, but I like foober.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: No, yeah.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: It's more of a southern tier way to say it.
- 5:12SPEAKER_02: Hey, what we're gonna do here is foober this up.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Right, exactly.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: That's wait a minute, I crossed the blue and the red wire is what you're saying.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: And then all of a sudden Liam Neeson's like blown across the room.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: This would be something we just sold the show.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: There we go.
