- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hands to Hester, and Hester, yep, got it, five out
- 0:07Speaker 2: of five. From carrying each other to a natty to
- 0:09Speaker 2: carrying each other on the air. Flynn is back to
- 0:12Speaker 2: throw for the end zone throw.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Live from the Raising Cane Studio, it's Off the Bench.
- 0:19Speaker 4: I can't stand it.
- 0:47Speaker 5: So listen up, cause you can't say nothing.
- 0:50Speaker 4: You shake that.
- 0:51Speaker 2: With a punch on your butt.
- 0:56Speaker 3: But you, I'm out and I'm gone.
- 1:00Speaker 6: I tell you now, I keep it on and on.
- 1:11Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in OTV, hour number three here
- 1:15Speaker 2: live from the Razor Cane Suite. Of course, every single
- 1:18Speaker 2: Monday brought to you by our friends over at Bayou Automotive. BayouAutomotive.com
- 1:22Speaker 2: for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. They got a little
- 1:25Speaker 2: bit of everything down there in La Paz, Louisiana. A
- 1:29Speaker 2: short drive down there. We encourage you to go see them,
- 1:31Speaker 2: go see the lot. But if you can't make it
- 1:33Speaker 2: down there, remember... It is okay because they will deliver
- 1:36Speaker 2: that vehicle to you in Baton Rouge once you purchase
- 1:40Speaker 2: on bayouautomotive.com.
- 1:42Speaker 1: All right, we are in game week.
- 1:45Speaker 2: It is going to be LSU versus Clemson inside Death Valley.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Game day is going to be here. So we have
- 1:51Speaker 2: finally made it. Now let's take a look at maybe
- 1:55Speaker 2: the depth chart. Let's take a look at how everything
- 1:57Speaker 2: is kind of rounding out. You don't have a, I
- 2:02Speaker 2: don't think a ton of position battles. Because receiver, it's
- 2:05Speaker 2: going to be a lot of different players. Those guys
- 2:07Speaker 2: are all going to rotate. That's what that position kind
- 2:09Speaker 2: of is, and that's why we talked about it with
- 2:11Speaker 2: this staff. When they were at Ole Miss, you had
- 2:13Speaker 2: a handful of receivers that had 600-plus yards.
- 2:17Speaker 1: They spread the football out.
- 2:18Speaker 2: You might not have a 1,500-yard receiver. That's just not
- 2:21Speaker 2: the way they do things. They like to get multiple
- 2:23Speaker 2: guys involved. So you're going to see a lot of
- 2:26Speaker 2: different receivers that are going to be out there at
- 2:28Speaker 2: different times. Tradez Green is going to be a constant.
- 2:31Speaker 2: He's going to be out there. I doubt he ever
- 2:33Speaker 2: comes off the field in most situations. He is going
- 2:36Speaker 2: to be the one guy with the offensive line and
- 2:38Speaker 2: Sam Levitt that you can pretty much count on being
- 2:40Speaker 2: in there. Now, running back, it's also a rotational position,
- 2:44Speaker 2: as always. We talked about it, I think it was
- 2:46Speaker 2: last week, running back by committee, 1A, 1B, however you
- 2:50Speaker 2: want to call it, that's what it's going to be.
- 2:52Speaker 2: But I don't think there's any way that Dylan Jones
- 2:57Speaker 2: isn't the lead back on this team, certainly early in
- 3:01Speaker 2: the season.
- 3:01Speaker 6: Hmm.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Just from spring from fall he feels.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Like the guy is going to get the first crack
- 3:07Speaker 2: at it now harlemberry is going to play kate and
- 3:12Speaker 2: durham's going to get some run but it feels like
- 3:14Speaker 2: right now as we sit here the last day of
- 3:16Speaker 2: august it's dylan jones harlemberry and then kate and.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Durham my question to you is um it seemed like
- 3:26Speaker 5: we got this news like week two of spring ball
- 3:29Speaker 5: which is why like almost like he started out the
- 3:33Speaker 5: spring nearly as kind of the thought of being the
- 3:36Speaker 5: number one guy, which for all LSU fans are pretty shocked.
- 3:39Speaker 5: You've had a really, really, really good true freshmen running
- 3:43Speaker 5: back for two years in a row. And both of
- 3:45Speaker 5: those guys are still on the roster. So you have
- 3:48Speaker 5: this brand new guy that comes in in spring. And
- 3:51Speaker 5: I think for LSU fans, a little bit of shock
- 3:53Speaker 5: that one of those two Harlem, Barry K Durham are
- 3:56Speaker 5: not at least the number one back through the spring,
- 3:59Speaker 5: at least. Right. Yeah. So, Let me ask you, how
- 4:03Speaker 5: does a Dylan Jones come in and overtake those guys as,
- 4:08Speaker 5: I guess, the first running back? I'm not going to
- 4:10Speaker 5: say there's going to be basically three starters throughout the season, right?
- 4:13Speaker 5: Because we think it's going to be a running back
- 4:15Speaker 5: by rotation.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:18Speaker 5: But the guy that's going to get the first crack
- 4:19Speaker 5: at it, how does one elevate himself to that point
- 4:23Speaker 5: against those two guys that have proven to be really
- 4:26Speaker 5: good players in the SEC?
- 4:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's because when you get a new staff,
- 4:29Speaker 1: you hit reset.
- 4:31Speaker 2: It's a completely new staff on that side of the football,
- 4:34Speaker 2: including the head coach.
- 4:36Speaker 1: So, sure, you know who those players are. You probably
- 4:39Speaker 1: recruited both of those players. You played against them, but
- 4:42Speaker 1: it's a clean slate.
- 4:44Speaker 2: So you don't come in with a, hey, this guy's
- 4:46Speaker 2: going to be one, this guy's going to be two,
- 4:47Speaker 2: this guy's going to be three. I think you go
- 4:49Speaker 2: out there, spring practice, and it says, hey, let's roll
- 4:52Speaker 2: the ball out there. Let's see what's going on. Let's
- 4:54Speaker 2: see who's what.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Let's see within our offense also. Which player fits it better?
- 4:59Speaker 5: Physically and visually, though, what is a differentiator for this
- 5:05Speaker 5: offense at the running back position that the coaching staff
- 5:08Speaker 5: can see apparently so clearly and blatantly very quickly? Is
- 5:13Speaker 5: it his conditioning was better early on and it helped
- 5:16Speaker 5: him take more first-team reps because he could keep up
- 5:19Speaker 5: with the speed? Is it pass protection, understanding? Is it
- 5:23Speaker 5: his football IQ? Is it visualizing? It's hard to really
- 5:28Speaker 5: see a running back's instincts in practice. Now, you can
- 5:31Speaker 5: do it with good, hard, tough practices, but it's like
- 5:33Speaker 5: until you get to the game situation and you're tackling
- 5:36Speaker 5: to the ground, it's really hard to tell a running
- 5:38Speaker 5: back's instincts, right?
- 5:40Speaker 2: I think that you have to have something that gets
- 5:43Speaker 2: coaches excited. You either have to be able to make
- 5:46Speaker 2: people miss, you have to be able to run past people,
- 5:50Speaker 2: or you have to run through people. You've got to
- 5:52Speaker 2: have one of those at a very high, I would say,
- 5:55Speaker 2: elite level at a place like LSU. So I think
- 5:58Speaker 2: you take a look at that and you say, which
- 6:00Speaker 2: one of those guys has more traits than the other ones?
- 6:03Speaker 2: And right now, they feel like it's Dylan Jones.
- 6:06Speaker 5: And a lot of that has to be from just
- 6:08Speaker 5: film study. Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Film study.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Because there's only so much, like we said, there's only
- 6:12Speaker 5: so much you're going to get from practice about.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Can you run through somebody? It's been a physical practice, though. Sure.
- 6:18Speaker 1: At least the ones that I've only, look, I've been
- 6:20Speaker 1: like four. But it's been physical.
- 6:24Speaker 2: And when I talked with, A defensive player, after spring practice,
- 6:29Speaker 2: before camp, I was like, hey, give me the lowdown.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Because I was curious. It wasn't even for the show content.
- 6:35Speaker 2: I was like, give me the lowdown. And the person
- 6:38Speaker 2: they kept coming back to was Dylan Jones at the
- 6:40Speaker 2: running back position. And it wasn't me being like, hey,
- 6:44Speaker 2: give me something on Dylan Jones.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Or, hey, give me.
- 6:47Speaker 2: They kept coming back to it. So they saw it.
- 6:49Speaker 2: And we always talk about it with quarterback battles. Why
- 6:51Speaker 2: can't it be with other positions? Organically, the team's going
- 6:54Speaker 2: to tell you before the coach does. And that was
- 6:57Speaker 2: a player that I did not ask about Dylan Jones
- 6:59Speaker 2: telling me about him.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And it was one of the best players.
- 7:03Speaker 5: And it's a big statement for a running back to make.
- 7:07Speaker 5: And if it is true, if Dylan Jones stepped in
- 7:11Speaker 5: in his first couple weeks of being at LSU, made
- 7:15Speaker 5: that big of an impact on the rest of his teammates,
- 7:18Speaker 5: made that big of an impact physically at the running
- 7:20Speaker 5: back position when you don't usually go live very often.
- 7:24Speaker 5: So at a running back position, just think about it.
- 7:26Speaker 5: You make your hay by not getting tackled. If the
- 7:30Speaker 5: drill in practice isn't a tackle drill, how good do
- 7:33Speaker 5: we really know? How good are you as a running back?
- 7:38Speaker 5: So to make that big of an impact, and we
- 7:42Speaker 5: know how good Caden is, and we know how good
- 7:44Speaker 5: Harlan Berry is, to stand out that much above those guys,
- 7:49Speaker 5: he had to have done something very special early on.
- 7:53Speaker 5: And sometimes you don't know how a coach is going
- 7:55Speaker 5: to look at and make these decisions, especially in a
- 7:57Speaker 5: room with guys that are similar skill level, skill set.
- 8:01Speaker 5: It might be really little things that make you stand
- 8:04Speaker 5: out to the coaches. Like you remember in your playbook
- 8:06Speaker 5: a little bit better. You give an extra effort or
- 8:08Speaker 5: extra work or whatever it is. There's little things that
- 8:11Speaker 5: you can do as a competitor to try to stand
- 8:14Speaker 5: out above your competition that you're competing against. And it's
- 8:17Speaker 5: a good lesson for middle school, high school, college kids
- 8:21Speaker 5: out there, do the little things right. It doesn't matter
- 8:23Speaker 5: how physically gifted you are. You could know your playbook
- 8:27Speaker 5: this bad. Don't let your coach have to correct you
- 8:30Speaker 5: on the same thing twice. You don't know what stood
- 8:33Speaker 5: out to the coaches, but when you have players talking
- 8:35Speaker 5: about how physically he stood out that fast at the
- 8:38Speaker 5: running back position, and again, the running back's job is
- 8:42Speaker 5: to not get tackled. So how much can you actually
- 8:45Speaker 5: stand out in practice when you're not getting tackled? Like
- 8:47Speaker 5: the tackle is not the drill.
- 8:49Speaker 2: That tells me like, just from my experience, because my
- 8:52Speaker 2: biggest skill that I had was breaking tackles. And to
- 8:56Speaker 2: your point, how do you do that when you can't
- 8:58Speaker 2: do that? And so I think you have to do
- 9:00Speaker 2: the little things, right? Like you kind of started this
- 9:02Speaker 2: conversation with, it's got to be in the film room.
- 9:05Speaker 1: It's got to be in pass protection. It's got to
- 9:07Speaker 1: be in your routes.
- 9:08Speaker 2: It has to be all these things that, that keep
- 9:10Speaker 2: you on the coach's mind until you can show them
- 9:12Speaker 2: the thing that maybe you do the best, which is
- 9:14Speaker 2: break tackles. And it feels like that's something that Dylan
- 9:17Speaker 2: Jones can kind of give you. And look, I, last
- 9:19Speaker 2: year he had 76 carries for 300 yards, right at
- 9:23Speaker 2: four yards, carry two touchdowns. It wasn't a ton when
- 9:26Speaker 2: he was at Wisconsin. I mean, even going back to
- 9:28Speaker 2: his freshman year, he only had 16 carries. So he
- 9:31Speaker 2: has 92 carries for three 88, 4.2 yards per carry,
- 9:34Speaker 2: two touchdowns along of 47. So it wasn't like he
- 9:38Speaker 2: came in with, these huge stats. But there was something
- 9:41Speaker 2: in the portal that they liked and they felt like
- 9:43Speaker 2: it fit their system. And it's only continued to grow.
- 9:47Speaker 5: I mean, kind of having this conversation is getting me
- 9:50Speaker 5: really excited for Dylan Jones this season. Again, we know
- 9:55Speaker 5: how talented those other running backs are in the room.
- 9:58Speaker 5: And we know how good of teammates they are. And
- 10:01Speaker 5: there's never been any word about them not knowing a
- 10:03Speaker 5: playbook or not studying or not. From everything that we know,
- 10:08Speaker 5: they're hard workers. They're great teammates. They are coachable. And
- 10:12Speaker 5: they're very talented. So for this kid to come in
- 10:18Speaker 5: And take that job like he is. You know that
- 10:20Speaker 5: he is practicing, like having amazing practices, having amazing workouts,
- 10:26Speaker 5: doing the right things in the classroom. But for real,
- 10:30Speaker 5: like you know that his game tape and his play style,
- 10:33Speaker 5: like the stats you just read me are not impressive.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:35Speaker 5: But Lane and his staff looked at it and said
- 10:37Speaker 5: his skill set matches exactly what we want to do.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:42Speaker 5: And we think so much of his skill set in
- 10:45Speaker 5: our offense– By week two of spring ball, he's going
- 10:48Speaker 5: to be our number one back over two established young guys.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Returning guys, too, yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Uh-huh. So now we're having to flesh this out and
- 10:56Speaker 5: talk about it. I'm excited about Mr. Dylan Jones.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Yeah, and you'll see Harlan Berry, and you'll see some
- 11:03Speaker 2: Caden Durham. Again, we laid this out last week. We
- 11:08Speaker 2: could go to 03, 07, 11. Some of the best
- 11:11Speaker 2: teams in LSU history have had multiple running backs. Like
- 11:15Speaker 2: in the national championship game that we played, I got
- 11:17Speaker 2: a carry, Charles got a carry, Keelan got a carry,
- 11:19Speaker 2: Richard got a carry, Trenton got a carry.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Hell, I'm sure Ridley was in there at some point, right?
- 11:24Speaker 1: Had to have been.
- 11:25Speaker 2: So it's okay to have multiple guys. But if I
- 11:29Speaker 2: was to bet on an RB1A, it's Dylan Jones. And
- 11:33Speaker 2: I don't think right now it's not that close.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Don't forget about those quarterback powers we ran. I had
- 11:39Speaker 5: about seven or eight carries myself. You ran the ball
- 11:42Speaker 5: a hundred times that year. Like literally 100, and we
- 11:46Speaker 5: still won. With a bum ankle.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Sam Levitt's also going to run. I'm going to assume.
- 11:54Speaker 5: He does not have a bum foot. It's good. He's
- 11:57Speaker 5: healed up. 110%, which is actually an impossible number to
- 12:01Speaker 5: get to.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Yeah, where'd that other 10% come from? Where are you
- 12:03Speaker 1: borrowing that from?
- 12:04Speaker 7: When the coaches are like, you have to give 110%,
- 12:05Speaker 7: I'm like, no, you literally cannot give 110%. You can't
- 12:08Speaker 7: do that. Maybe you think you're giving 100 and you're not,
- 12:11Speaker 7: and you have a little more, but you cannot give 100.
- 12:13Speaker 5: If you gave 100% physically, your eyeballs would burst out.
- 12:17Speaker 5: You're maxed out. So much pressure and strain about your eyeballs.
- 12:22Speaker 1: What did the youth say? It's giving 110%?
- 12:23Speaker 2: You say it's giving, and then they say something. It's
- 12:27Speaker 2: giving 110%, but you're still 100% because you can't physically
- 12:31Speaker 2: give 110%?
- 12:32Speaker 5: You can't do it. It's literally impossible. The youths. If
- 12:36Speaker 5: you had $ 10... and you wanted to give 110% to something,
- 12:40Speaker 5: you couldn't do it because you only have $ 10. You
- 12:43Speaker 5: couldn't give $ 11.
- 12:44Speaker 1: You'd want to.
- 12:44Speaker 5: You'd want to. You couldn't give $ 11 because you only
- 12:50Speaker 5: got $ 10. It's the same physically. You can't do it.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Tay-Tay, I know, gosh, we started talking about running backs,
- 13:01Speaker 2: and I got lost in the sauce because I was
- 13:02Speaker 2: talking about the superior position on the football field. But
- 13:05Speaker 2: you've also been out there. Is that your assessment of
- 13:09Speaker 2: the running back rotation as well?
- 13:10Speaker 7: That's what it's been. I mean, all fall camp, it's
- 13:13Speaker 7: not only Dylan Jones at the top. It's what you mentioned.
- 13:17Speaker 7: It's Dylan Jones. It's Harlem Berry. It's Caden Durham. Last week,
- 13:20Speaker 7: Stacey Gage was getting some run with the second team group.
- 13:23Speaker 7: That's another guy that transferred in from UCF. Like, you
- 13:26Speaker 7: have a stable of running backs. You're going to use
- 13:28Speaker 7: all of them. But, you know, Jake, we actually had
- 13:31Speaker 7: Dylan Jones last week at player interviews, and I asked him,
- 13:36Speaker 7: hey man, you could have went a lot of different
- 13:37Speaker 7: places in the portal. You came here with two established
- 13:41Speaker 7: backs with competition.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Why?
- 13:43Speaker 7: And he said, I love competition. It makes me better.
- 13:45Speaker 7: It makes me raise my level of play. And then
- 13:47Speaker 7: he started talking about running the ball is easy. It's
- 13:51Speaker 7: everything else at the running back position that'll help you
- 13:54Speaker 7: stand out over others. So to your point about, oh,
- 13:57Speaker 7: how has he been able to stand out without being
- 13:59Speaker 7: really tackled? It's that, it's everything.
- 14:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'm excited.
- 14:04Speaker 2: I'm excited to watch him play. I think he's earned
- 14:07Speaker 2: the right to be out there, certainly not given to him.
- 14:10Speaker 2: And so we know what we have with Harlan Berry.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I'm excited about him and his second year. We've seen
- 14:15Speaker 2: Caden Durham be an all-SEC freshman.
- 14:17Speaker 5: How many all-purpose yards?
- 14:21Speaker 1: We'll tell you that when we come back here on OTB.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Off the bench. called a radio tease there, buddy.
- 14:29Speaker 2: It's the Second Amendment tax-free weekend at Bowie Outfitters, Friday
- 14:32Speaker 2: through Sunday, September the 4th, 5th, and 6th. Firearms, ammo, suppressors, bows,
- 14:37Speaker 2: and hunting supplies are all completely tax-free, and Bowie is
- 14:40Speaker 2: covering the tax on everything else. So the entire store
- 14:44Speaker 2: is 100% tax-free. Plus, you can skip the lines. Come
- 14:48Speaker 2: in now and put any firearm, suppressor, or bow on hold.
- 14:52Speaker 1: For tax-free weekend.
- 14:53Speaker 2: And with sales throughout the store, you can stack up
- 14:56Speaker 2: on some of the biggest savings of the year. So
- 14:58Speaker 2: you can go find them online, but we always encourage you,
- 15:02Speaker 2: go walk in, go to Bowie Outfitters, tax-free weekend, September
- 15:06Speaker 2: 4th through the 6th.
- 15:07Speaker 5: So are you telling me that I can get ready
- 15:11Speaker 5: for hunting season with the clothes, the guns, the bows,
- 15:15Speaker 5: the ammunition, everything, and not pay.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Taxes on it? No taxes. Zero taxes, sir.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Go check them out there on Perkins Road right here.
- 15:23Speaker 5: and on Perkins, excuse me, and Baton Rouge, phillyoutfitter.com.
- 15:28Speaker 7: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 15:40Speaker 4: We get some rules to follow.
- 15:45Speaker 1: That and this, these and those.
- 15:47Speaker 2: No one knows.
- 15:48Speaker 4: We get these pills to swallow.
- 16:15Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in. OTB here live from the
- 16:17Speaker 2: Raising Gains studio. You asked me to give you a
- 16:21Speaker 2: prediction on total yards, total scrimmage yards.
- 16:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Dylan Jones.
- 16:25Speaker 6: For Mr.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Dylan Jones.
- 16:27Speaker 7: Hmm.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Again, it is.
- 16:29Speaker 5: I actually don't even know what a good number is anymore.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I don't know, right?
- 16:35Speaker 5: I was like 1,200. Is that good anymore?
- 16:37Speaker 2: It is going to be a three back at least
- 16:40Speaker 2: minimum rotation to some extent.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Like percentages will change.
- 16:46Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't think LSU will have a
- 16:48Speaker 1: straight 1,000-yard rusher.
- 16:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Because it's going to be spread.
- 16:51Speaker 5: But I would assume in Lane's offense, if they're excited
- 16:54Speaker 5: about a guy that they've watched tape on, he's going
- 16:57Speaker 5: to be a threat out of the backfield to catch
- 16:59Speaker 5: the ball as well. I would assume. There he is.
- 17:05Speaker 1: If I said 850, how would that make people feel?
- 17:09Speaker 6: Yeah. 850?
- 17:09Speaker 1: With a three-back rotation?
- 17:10Speaker 7: 700 rushing, 150 receiving?
- 17:15Speaker 6: Why not?
- 17:16Speaker 1: I would say it's low. You think so?
- 17:18Speaker 5: After our last conversation.
- 17:20Speaker 4: I know.
- 17:20Speaker 5: I know.
- 17:20Speaker 1: So that's what I have in my head. But at
- 17:24Speaker 1: what point, like– It's going to have a comment. I
- 17:25Speaker 1: don't know this coaching staff well enough.
- 17:29Speaker 2: To know if they go, like, with the hot hand
- 17:32Speaker 2: for multiple games or if it's like the rotation's kind
- 17:35Speaker 2: of like, hey, here's what we want it to be.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Here's what we want it to look like. We want
- 17:38Speaker 1: fresh legs. We want him in this situation.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Or– Because Lacey, obviously, last year, what he did at
- 17:44Speaker 2: Ole Miss, like, do you say, hey, if it's going well, sorry, bud.
- 17:49Speaker 1: It's no longer a rotation. It's you.
- 17:51Speaker 2: So I don't know that enough, and that's going to
- 17:53Speaker 2: be something to see how it plays out with them
- 17:55Speaker 2: and their history of backs. Now, from recent memory, history
- 18:00Speaker 2: will tell you that they've kind of had a bell
- 18:02Speaker 2: cow back. Now, is that because they didn't have other
- 18:05Speaker 2: options at Ole Miss, or is that because that's the
- 18:07Speaker 2: way that this coaching staff coaches?
- 18:09Speaker 1: We have to see that play out. If he's the
- 18:10Speaker 1: bell cow back, then yeah, it's absolutely going to have
- 18:12Speaker 1: a comment.
- 18:14Speaker 5: Kwon Lacey, 2025, 1,744 all-purpose yards. I feel like that's
- 18:24Speaker 5: quite a few right there. It kind of depends on
- 18:28Speaker 5: how they are going to play this. Is it going
- 18:30Speaker 5: to be a keep a fresh guy in there, keep
- 18:32Speaker 5: fresh legs all game long, or is it going to
- 18:34Speaker 5: be a bell cow situation? To your point, Kiffin really
- 18:38Speaker 5: hasn't done the done the running back carousel during a
- 18:43Speaker 5: game situation before so yeah i would say it'd probably
- 18:46Speaker 5: be a hot hand um but then you got to
- 18:51Speaker 5: determine like what makes a hot hand too you know
- 18:53Speaker 5: what i mean like you sometimes a running back gets
- 18:56Speaker 5: put in there and he runs his own play and
- 18:58Speaker 5: it's untouched for 50 yards right the next guy runs
- 19:02Speaker 5: in and it's getting blown up so like who's really
- 19:05Speaker 5: got the hot hand he just got he got the
- 19:07Speaker 5: right carry at the right time you know um but
- 19:10Speaker 5: if Dylan Jones has made this big of an impact
- 19:12Speaker 5: this early. I got to think that he's got to
- 19:14Speaker 5: be looked at as a bell cow.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I was trying to get the, like, the four-year sample size.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Let's see if I can.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Because I know in 20, let's see, 2024 for Ole Miss,
- 19:27Speaker 2: it was, you know, Jackson Dart ran a.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Ton that year.
- 19:32Speaker 2: And Parrish ran a ton that year.
- 19:34Speaker 1: But also they had, was it Bentley? I think it
- 19:37Speaker 1: was Bentley that year.
- 19:38Speaker 7: This is Bentley, yeah. I mean, he had Jerrion Ealy
- 19:41Speaker 7: mixed in there.
- 19:42Speaker 1: All right, so in 2024, Jackson Dart had 124 carries.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Henry Parrish Jr. had 120.
- 19:50Speaker 2: So Jackson Dart was the second-leading rusher on the team
- 19:53Speaker 2: as far as carries, and then Bentley had 84.
- 19:55Speaker 5: For those of y'all wondering, like myself, we've always heard
- 20:03Speaker 5: the term bell cow. What is a bell cow?
- 20:08Speaker 6: When he said it? I was like, I guess I
- 20:11Speaker 6: get what it means. But people say it all the time,
- 20:14Speaker 6: but what is bell cow?
- 20:15Speaker 5: It's the lead animal. Farmers historically tied a bell to
- 20:19Speaker 5: the most dominant or trusted cow in the herd because
- 20:23Speaker 5: the dominant cow, the other cows will follow them. So
- 20:27Speaker 5: they would put the bell around the lead animal so
- 20:31Speaker 5: they could always track the group's location because wherever he was,
- 20:35Speaker 5: the others would follow.
- 20:36Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 20:38Speaker 1: The lead animal. Tell me where else you get that
- 20:41Speaker 1: kind of breakdown. Nowhere. Makes sense, though.
- 20:49Speaker 5: Just the more you know, really. You tune in to
- 20:52Speaker 5: Off the Bench for the education, as well as the takes.
- 21:01Speaker 2: All right, so I did steal the last couple of
- 21:03Speaker 2: segments talking to running backs. Well, Matt's position's already figured out.
- 21:07Speaker 1: That's pretty easy. That one's easy.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Alondra Tete, is there a position group? It could be
- 21:13Speaker 2: running back. Maybe I stole the thunder there. Is there
- 21:15Speaker 2: another one that's maybe not as settled? Maybe it's a
- 21:21Speaker 2: deeper conversation of here's the three guys it could be,
- 21:24Speaker 2: and maybe we've got to wait until Saturday to see
- 21:26Speaker 2: it play out.
- 21:27Speaker 6: I'm just super curious about the 30 wide receivers that
- 21:29Speaker 6: we have on the team.
- 21:32Speaker 1: You do have a lot.
- 21:33Speaker 6: I think that A bunch of them, I guess with
- 21:35Speaker 6: the exception of Jace Brown, since him and Sam Levitt
- 21:38Speaker 6: have beef.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Yep, obviously. Just kidding, guys.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Are you?
- 21:44Speaker 3: I'm kidding. I don't know about you two over here,
- 21:47Speaker 3: but I'm kidding.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Wait, who has beef? I missed it.
- 21:50Speaker 3: They say that.
- 21:50Speaker 6: Every time Sam Levitt throws a pass in practice to
- 21:53Speaker 6: Jace Brown, it's incomplete every single time.
- 21:57Speaker 1: So who says that Taylor? Well, no, it's.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Just on the practice reports.
- 22:02Speaker 6: Every time that he throws a pass to Jace Brown
- 22:05Speaker 6: is incomplete. So Taylor and Matt came up with the
- 22:08Speaker 6: idea that he is. They got beef.
- 22:11Speaker 1: It's Matt.
- 22:12Speaker 7: That Matt, yes.
- 22:13Speaker 6: But I just am curious to see what that looks like.
- 22:16Speaker 6: I mean, I think Jackson Harris is going to have
- 22:18Speaker 6: a really good year, but I'm curious to see everything
- 22:21Speaker 6: else behind him.
- 22:23Speaker 7: There's five guys in that room that have emerged. Chase
- 22:26Speaker 7: Brown and Jackson Harris being one. Trey Wilson has gotten
- 22:29Speaker 7: a lot of run the last two weeks.
- 22:31Speaker 1: He might be the most physically gifted of the group.
- 22:35Speaker 1: It doesn't mean he's the best, just physically gifted.
- 22:38Speaker 7: People– People look at his numbers in Florida and they're like, oh,
- 22:41Speaker 7: he's another highly recruited guy that didn't live up to
- 22:43Speaker 7: the hype. His quarterback play was Graham Mertz and DJ Lagway.
- 22:47Speaker 7: I hope Sam Levitt's a little bit better than both
- 22:48Speaker 7: of those guys. And then we know Winston Watkins has
- 22:51Speaker 7: the connection with Lane Kiffin from Ole Miss. And then
- 22:54Speaker 7: Malik Elzey from Illinois has gotten a lot of run.
- 22:57Speaker 7: I've been out to two practices, both practices I've been to.
- 23:00Speaker 7: He was one of the starting three guys along with
- 23:02Speaker 7: Jace Brown and Jackson Harris.
- 23:03Speaker 1: He looks the most different in his uniform.
- 23:06Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 1: He looks the part.
- 23:07Speaker 7: He's a big-bodied guy. I mean, he can play.
- 23:10Speaker 2: He had multiple contested catches the last time I went out.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Strong hands. Very strong hands.
- 23:16Speaker 2: But, again, a guy that doesn't have a lot of
- 23:18Speaker 2: stats to get you excited before the game. But the
- 23:23Speaker 2: coaching staff had a coach that knew about this guy,
- 23:25Speaker 2: brought him in for a reason, and he is going
- 23:27Speaker 2: to get some run.
- 23:29Speaker 6: For me?
- 23:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:31Speaker 7: I'll switch sides of the ball. I'm interested in the
- 23:33Speaker 7: defensive tackle rotation because there is a lot of talent there,
- 23:36Speaker 7: but it's young. I mean, it looks like Ducey Gerald's
- 23:39Speaker 7: is going to start now. Potentially you have another true
- 23:44Speaker 7: freshman on the other side that can potentially start with him.
- 23:46Speaker 7: Dominic McKinley's in year three. You brought in the file
- 23:49Speaker 7: and green and Malik blocked and all things hold. Zavian
- 23:52Speaker 7: Harris is going to be in that rotation as well,
- 23:54Speaker 7: who has a ton of experience with Lane Kiffin, but
- 23:58Speaker 7: is joining the team less than two weeks before the
- 23:59Speaker 7: first game. What's that rotation going to look like? There's
- 24:02Speaker 7: a lot of guys. I just want to see the
- 24:03Speaker 7: top two emerge.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Lamar Brown has kind of kicked out to more of
- 24:08Speaker 2: an edge rusher, not a defensive tackle. I'd expect to
- 24:12Speaker 2: see Lamar out there as well. But the thing about
- 24:15Speaker 2: a guy like that is he does have some versatility.
- 24:17Speaker 2: So you could see him on sub packages.
- 24:19Speaker 6: 295?
- 24:19Speaker 7: I would say so. He could scoot inside if he
- 24:21Speaker 7: needs to.
- 24:22Speaker 2: So certainly on like a third down package, if you
- 24:24Speaker 2: want to get another rusher out there on a guard.
- 24:27Speaker 2: or maybe a mismatch on a center, if you play
- 24:29Speaker 2: him in a shade, you can do that as well.
- 24:31Speaker 6: Lane himself has told you that the offensive line is
- 24:35Speaker 6: his biggest concern.
- 24:37Speaker 3: So that is something that I'm going to be looking
- 24:39Speaker 3: out for too.
- 24:41Speaker 5: Well, look, it's one of those situations where the benefit
- 24:47Speaker 5: that Lane brings to his players and his offensive line
- 24:51Speaker 5: specifically is– you don't have to worry because of the
- 24:55Speaker 5: speed of which LSU goes. You don't have to worry
- 24:56Speaker 5: about getting tricked a lot because the defense can't bring
- 24:59Speaker 5: too many exotic pressures. So really you got to focus
- 25:04Speaker 5: on blocking the guy in front of you. You got
- 25:06Speaker 5: to look for maybe a blitzing linebacker, maybe someone off
- 25:09Speaker 5: the nickel, but you're not, there's not too many times
- 25:12Speaker 5: LSU's offense is going to have to be worried about
- 25:14Speaker 5: a safety or a corner blitzing. So you're going to
- 25:17Speaker 5: have teams that are going to put that in. You're
- 25:19Speaker 5: going to see it some, but, You were going to
- 25:22Speaker 5: see it so few times compared to what you would
- 25:24Speaker 5: in a normal, like, either muddle huddle offense or regular
- 25:27Speaker 5: huddle offense because the defense just doesn't have time. So
- 25:29Speaker 5: the offensive line, whether it's the biggest concern point or not,
- 25:33Speaker 5: and it should be after last year, right? It should
- 25:35Speaker 5: be your biggest concern point as an LSU fan as
- 25:37Speaker 5: well just because it's a period of the unknown. We're
- 25:40Speaker 5: about to see something this weekend LSU fans have never
- 25:43Speaker 5: seen before. This type of offense. We have never seen
- 25:46Speaker 5: anything like this in an LSU uniform.
- 25:49Speaker 7: Nothing. Okay?
- 25:50Speaker 5: You're about to see something, and you just don't know.
- 25:52Speaker 5: We're not going to know how to feel as LSU
- 25:54Speaker 5: fans until we actually see it. And we are about this.
- 25:57Speaker 5: We're six days away from, five days away from seeing it, right?
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:02Speaker 5: And it's going to look different. It's going to feel like, yeah,
- 26:05Speaker 5: we've seen, we saw Ole Miss do it. We see
- 26:06Speaker 5: other offices doing it, but we never really thought it
- 26:09Speaker 5: was possible in an LSU uniform. You're about to see it.
- 26:11Speaker 5: And so the offensive line is going to be a
- 26:13Speaker 5: big benefactor of that. Yeah, people are going to get
- 26:14Speaker 5: beat one-on-one. You're going to give up sacks. It's going
- 26:16Speaker 5: to happen.
- 26:17Speaker 1: It's football.
- 26:18Speaker 5: The other team has good athletes as well.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Just get excited. Yep.
- 26:22Speaker 5: Because you're about to see something that is unlike anything
- 26:25Speaker 5: you've ever seen before. And I think even on year one,
- 26:28Speaker 5: it's going to look really damn good.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 26:31Speaker 5: Yep.
- 26:32Speaker 2: I can't wait to see the speed. I might not
- 26:34Speaker 2: even get a word in when else she's on offense.
- 26:36Speaker 2: It might just be Chris Blair the whole time because
- 26:38Speaker 2: I'm trying to get a word in, but he's got
- 26:40Speaker 2: to set what's going on, set the scene. I just
- 26:43Speaker 2: might be sitting there enjoying the game like y'all are.
- 26:45Speaker 2: And that's okay because that means they're going fast.
- 26:47Speaker 5: You're going to see me right there.
- 26:48Speaker 7: Good catch.
- 26:51Speaker 2: No.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Conor Ross is your set.
- 26:55Speaker 3: I know. Sorry, sorry, sorry. That's why I'm saying that
- 26:57Speaker 3: you can't be doing that.
- 26:58Speaker 5: Hey, quick question before we go to break. Has Clemson
- 27:03Speaker 5: named a starting quarterback yet?
- 27:05Speaker 1: No.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Probably internally.
- 27:07Speaker 7: Well, a report came out yesterday.
- 27:09Speaker 3: You would hope so. You would hope so. I would
- 27:12Speaker 3: think so.
- 27:12Speaker 7: A report came out yesterday that over the weekend, Christopher
- 27:14Speaker 7: Vazina took All the first-team brands.
- 27:17Speaker 5: Hey, Dabo.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:21Speaker 5: There he goes.
- 27:24Speaker 2: I do love the fact that when an LSU receiver
- 27:28Speaker 2: back tight end catches the football, whatever, you're going to
- 27:31Speaker 2: see them spot the ball and give it to the
- 27:34Speaker 2: official with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. There's rules in
- 27:38Speaker 2: the offense. There's no celebrating. We'll do that later when
- 27:42Speaker 2: we score a touchdown.
- 27:43Speaker 1: And I love that. I don't care about celebrating. I'm
- 27:45Speaker 1: not like, oh, my God, an old man on the line.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I don't care about it.
- 27:48Speaker 2: But I do love the fact that there's no, yeah,
- 27:50Speaker 2: there's no first down.
- 27:52Speaker 1: There's none of that.
- 27:54Speaker 2: You know, it is like literally I got to get
- 27:57Speaker 2: this ball spotted. Where is the referee? If you catch
- 28:01Speaker 2: it outside, if you catch it outside the numbers, put
- 28:03Speaker 2: it on the hash, catch it in the middle of
- 28:04Speaker 2: the field, spot it in the middle of the field,
- 28:05Speaker 2: and we're going.
- 28:06Speaker 1: And then when you score, that's when you can celebrate.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Do you still do that? What? Which one?
- 28:11Speaker 3: I think they still dab.
- 28:12Speaker 1: I don't think after.
- 28:14Speaker 7: A first down I've ever seen that. But, hey, who knows?
- 28:17Speaker 7: Maybe this is the year, Matt.
- 28:20Speaker 3: It's usually the arrow. I like the arrow one.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Crossbow. I love when a guy gets, like, a good
- 28:28Speaker 1: eight-yard run. He thinks he got 10. And it's like, bro,
- 28:32Speaker 1: you are two and a half yards short.
- 28:33Speaker 5: Or the defense does this after the first down. Maybe
- 28:36Speaker 5: they put up the four-down fist.
- 28:37Speaker 1: The thing that bothers me the most.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Is when the defense does this after stopping him on
- 28:45Speaker 2: fourth down.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. It's actually first down. It's your ball. It's
- 28:48Speaker 1: not fourth down.
- 28:48Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:49Speaker 1: It's actually your ball now.
- 28:51Speaker 7: You do that before fourth down.
- 28:52Speaker 5: Or the DB.
- 28:53Speaker 7: The seatbelt.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Who puts the seatbelt on with two hands?
- 28:56Speaker 3: I think I did it wrong.
- 28:57Speaker 1: No, you grab it here and you.
- 28:59Speaker 7: He gets torched though, right? Like the receiver beats it
- 29:03Speaker 7: by like 10 yards and drops it. And then the
- 29:05Speaker 7: DB's like.
- 29:06Speaker 5: Or the coach or the quarterback overthrows it.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:10Speaker 5: Throws it out of bounds.
- 29:11Speaker 7: I said, bud, you didn't do a damn thing. You
- 29:13Speaker 7: got beat.
- 29:13Speaker 1: What's this one?
- 29:14Speaker 5: What is this?
- 29:15Speaker 1: I do now.
- 29:15Speaker 5: I think they're doing this always. I thought they were like.
- 29:19Speaker 3: It's a seatbelt, though.
- 29:20Speaker 5: I thought they were putting their sword away or something.
- 29:22Speaker 1: I saw Jackson.
- 29:23Speaker 3: That's Trevor Bauer.
- 29:24Speaker 1: I saw Jackson do it. They stopped him on third down.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I was like, no. No J-Bones.
- 29:29Speaker 3: J-Bones. You should know better.
- 29:31Speaker 7: We're dropping a J-Bones on the broadcast Friday.
- 29:34Speaker 5: How did J-Bones do? We're not going to talk about
- 29:36Speaker 5: the result.
- 29:38Speaker 1: He did good.
- 29:38Speaker 7: He did good.
- 29:40Speaker 1: He's playing zero nos in an odd front, so all
- 29:42Speaker 1: the blocks.
- 29:43Speaker 5: All the blocks.
- 29:43Speaker 1: So many double-taps. This week's going to be probably his
- 29:45Speaker 1: toughest test of the year. Rumble's got some huge guards.
- 29:49Speaker 5: Love it.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Some giants playing guard. Just wait until you see the
- 29:53Speaker 1: right guard, Tay-Tay.
- 29:54Speaker 5: Oh, I'm excited.
- 29:55Speaker 1: He's probably really good. I don't even know. I just
- 29:57Speaker 1: know just the size of him. I was watching.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Nussmeier throw a touchdown, and I remember, because for me,
- 30:03Speaker 2: I'm a dad, so I'm looking at the guards. I
- 30:04Speaker 2: don't care about the touchdown pass. My son is going
- 30:06Speaker 2: against the center and the two guards. Oh, boy.
- 30:09Speaker 1: The right guard? He's a big fella. Yeah, that. All right,
- 30:14Speaker 1: we'll take a break. More OTB when we come back
- 30:16Speaker 1: here live from the Raising Cane Studio.
- 30:18Speaker 3: Off the bench.
- 30:19Speaker 2: All right, go see our friends at First American Bank
- 30:21Speaker 2: and trust FABT.com.
- 30:24Speaker 1: FABT.com. They've been in the game for over a century.
- 30:28Speaker 1: That's right. You do not stay.
- 30:30Speaker 2: in banking for over a century, you're handling people's money,
- 30:33Speaker 2: their life, unless you do it the exact right way
- 30:36Speaker 2: and you have them in mind. And that's exactly what
- 30:38Speaker 2: they have at First American Bank and Trust. We say
- 30:40Speaker 2: it all the time because it's factual. You are a name.
- 30:43Speaker 2: You are a face. You are a relationship. You're not
- 30:46Speaker 2: just another account number. And that is always going to
- 30:49Speaker 2: be the case with First American Bank and Trust. Bank
- 30:52Speaker 2: with people you know. Bank with somebody local. FABT.com.
- 30:56Speaker 5: That's right. You're going to know them because you can
- 30:57Speaker 5: walk into their local branch and shake their hands. Look
- 31:01Speaker 5: them in the eye. Let them make those local decisions

- 31:08Speaker 5: in Louisiana for over a century. Over 100 years they've

- 31:14Speaker 5: are looking at a loan, personal, commercial, whatever, maybe it's
- 31:16Speaker 5: a mortgage, make sure it's a local bank making local decisions. FABT.com.
- 31:26Speaker 5: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Off the Bench. Talks like a gentleman, like you imagine
- 32:01Speaker 4: when you.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Were young Can we climb this mountain? I don't know.
- 32:17Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in OTB here live from the
- 32:20Speaker 2: Raising Cane's studio. It is game week. We're all fired up.
- 32:25Speaker 2: You're fired up. College football is officially back. No more
- 32:29Speaker 2: week zero. We get teams with people we actually know
- 32:32Speaker 2: who they are. We don't have to guess anymore. Logos
- 32:37Speaker 2: we recognize. Storylines we've been talking about, and we're all
- 32:41Speaker 2: fired up for it. But real quick, around the room,
- 32:44Speaker 2: How are we taking in the game? How's Saturday going
- 32:47Speaker 2: to be? I know we all have different responsibilities from
- 32:50Speaker 2: time to time. Sometimes we have work for the game,
- 32:54Speaker 2: pregame stuff. Sometimes we watch it from the press box.
- 32:56Speaker 2: I know what I'll be doing. I'll be walking around
- 32:59Speaker 2: amongst the people, a little tailgating with the family, and
- 33:02Speaker 2: then up in the booth.
- 33:03Speaker 1: What about you, sir, Matthew Clayton Flynn?
- 33:06Speaker 5: I'll probably be watching from the house this weekend. Yeah.
- 33:09Speaker 5: That's my preferred way to watch. Now, of course, I feel.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Like I'm watching from the house being in the booth
- 33:16Speaker 1: a bit.
- 33:16Speaker 5: I love being in the crowd. I love feeling the crowd.
- 33:22Speaker 5: It's just not something I love to do every single game.
- 33:25Speaker 5: And there's a select few games that we got. Certainly,
- 33:28Speaker 5: we're going to be out and about. But, you know,
- 33:32Speaker 5: one in early September with the heat. It's not my
- 33:34Speaker 5: favorite thing. I don't really feel like sweating my guts
- 33:37Speaker 5: out all day.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Sweating your guts out. You've combined a lot of things here.
- 33:44Speaker 2: That's another one. Let's add it to the list.
- 33:45Speaker 1: What is that?
- 33:46Speaker 7: Sweat your guts out?
- 33:47Speaker 1: Throwing your guts up. I've heard that.
- 33:49Speaker 5: That's right. Sweating my something off. I could have said that.
- 33:55Speaker 5: I feel like people say that.
- 33:57Speaker 1: I've heard sweating my ass off.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Sweating my ass off for sure. I don't think I've
- 34:02Speaker 3: ever heard.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Ball's hot.
- 34:03Speaker 3: I've heard balls.
- 34:04Speaker 6: I don't think I've ever heard somebody say that they
- 34:07Speaker 6: are going to sweat their guts out.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Never heard that before.
- 34:09Speaker 5: I feel like I've heard this before.
- 34:10Speaker 3: No, I just don't.
- 34:11Speaker 5: I even keep saying it.
- 34:12Speaker 1: In your head, yes.
- 34:13Speaker 5: Maybe it's just me that keeps saying it, and everybody
- 34:15Speaker 5: walks away from the conversation like, what did he say?
- 34:18Speaker 7: It feels typical.
- 34:20Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 34:20Speaker 3: I walk away from many conversations.
- 34:22Speaker 5: Let me know in the chat. Anybody say, sweat your
- 34:23Speaker 5: guts out.
- 34:24Speaker 1: God, we love that guy. Man, he's simple. All right,
- 34:28Speaker 1: so at home, in the comfort of your home. Actually-
- 34:32Speaker 1: You got a lot going on in your house. You
- 34:33Speaker 1: have a spot you can be able to watch the game?
- 34:36Speaker 5: Yeah, certainly we got a watching spot.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Okay.
- 34:39Speaker 5: We're pretty fortunate in our little upstairs area. It's kind
- 34:43Speaker 5: of like a small apartment, like a little.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Dorm room up there.
- 34:46Speaker 5: We've made it real comfy, cozy, thanks to the Hester clan.
- 34:51Speaker 5: Moving some furniture up there.
- 34:52Speaker 1: They're all kind of living up there.
- 34:53Speaker 5: We bought a little Blackstone. yesterday put together. So I
- 34:58Speaker 5: got that little propane tank. I had to get a
- 35:00Speaker 5: fan so I blow the smoke out from the balcony.
- 35:03Speaker 5: But yeah, it's our cooking device now.
- 35:05Speaker 1: So I'm going to be doing hibachi.
- 35:07Speaker 5: Was that your first time using it? Last night we
- 35:10Speaker 5: cooked some steaks.
- 35:10Speaker 7: So I got one.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I love hibachi.
- 35:12Speaker 7: I got one about two months ago, and I did
- 35:14Speaker 7: breakfast yesterday morning.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Do you throw the shrimp in your kid's mouth?
- 35:19Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Do you do the onion train?
- 35:22Speaker 5: Or the volcano? My eye's burning. Oh, yeah. Keep the volcano.
- 35:28Speaker 3: Do you do the egg roll?
- 35:30Speaker 5: Love an egg roll. Love a butterfly.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Good for you. You know what?
- 35:35Speaker 5: I was a little disappointed in the height of it, though.
- 35:38Speaker 5: It's pretty short out of the box. Pretty short cooking.
- 35:42Speaker 3: So it's not like adjustable?
- 35:43Speaker 1: Mine's on wheels, so mine's like a little bit taller.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Mine's got two wheels. Mine's four, okay.
- 35:47Speaker 5: So I bought the, you know, I went cheap. It
- 35:50Speaker 5: was on the deal.
- 35:52Speaker 7: Wait, how big is it?
- 35:54Speaker 5: 28-incher.
- 35:54Speaker 7: Wait, mine's 28. Mine's got the four-wheel. Mine's a two-wheel,
- 35:58Speaker 7: but chest height. I don't got a lot of bells
- 36:02Speaker 7: and whistles on mine. Yeah, standard model.
- 36:04Speaker 5: It was on sale.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:06Speaker 6: $ 200.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Not a big deal. Standard model.
- 36:08Speaker 5: Yeah, you're good.
- 36:09Speaker 1: It's temporary. It's temporary.
- 36:11Speaker 5: It's temporary fix.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:13Speaker 5: But it's low, and I got to kind of hunch over.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Get you some cinder blocks, Bo.
- 36:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I could do that. I thought about it. I
- 36:19Speaker 5: don't know if Lacey wants cinder blocks up on.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Her nice porch. I mean, you're renovating, bro.
- 36:23Speaker 5: That's true.
- 36:23Speaker 1: You're good.
- 36:25Speaker 5: That's a good point.
- 36:26Speaker 2: You know, there's a lot of stuff going on.
- 36:27Speaker 1: It's supposed to.
- 36:29Speaker 7: It is.
- 36:29Speaker 5: We are very blessed to have the space that we
- 36:31Speaker 5: are during this little construction. And we're going to bring
- 36:35Speaker 5: the family together.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Or kill each other. Or kill each other. Alondra, game
- 36:40Speaker 1: day plans.
- 36:40Speaker 3: I will be at the game.
- 36:41Speaker 1: I know, but do you have any work responsibilities?
- 36:44Speaker 3: Yeah, just social stuff.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Like pregame stuff like you do?
- 36:47Speaker 3: I don't think I'm going to do that anymore.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Okay.
- 36:49Speaker 3: It's just way more work than.
- 36:51Speaker 1: What it's worth. Yeah, just like pregame videos and stadium moments.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Yeah, stadium stuff. Just the typical stuff that you see
- 36:58Speaker 3: on game day.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Sweating your guts out.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Sweating my guts out.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Hate it. Tay-Tay. Game day plans.
- 37:05Speaker 7: Oh, some dogs on the Blackstone.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Some dogs.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 37:09Speaker 1: There's some dogs in there.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, really?
- 37:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he is.
- 37:11Speaker 7: Can't go too far.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Go American.
- 37:13Speaker 7: Got to watch the little man in the process, you know.
- 37:15Speaker 7: So it'll be fun. Little man's first LSU game. So
- 37:19Speaker 7: we're excited about that.
- 37:20Speaker 6: I know.
- 37:20Speaker 7: We got his LSU onesie ready to go.
- 37:22Speaker 1: He's got an 18 on there.
- 37:23Speaker 4: Razor.
- 37:23Speaker 1: In fairness.
- 37:24Speaker 5: Very cool.
- 37:24Speaker 7: Thanks for that.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Appreciate it. In fairness, there's no number. Because they don't
- 37:29Speaker 1: sell 15. We knew that.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Razor, you thought you had met your father before. This
- 37:34Speaker 5: is a new dad coming out during LSU game day.
- 37:38Speaker 5: He is going to speak differently than he normally does.
- 37:41Speaker 7: Victoria's going to be mad at me.
- 37:43Speaker 1: I'll just wait until the Cowboys play.
- 37:44Speaker 7: Well, she took a picture of him the other day
- 37:46Speaker 7: wearing the LSU onesie, right?
- 37:49Speaker 3: Get it off.
- 37:49Speaker 7: Well, no.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Not until game day.
- 37:52Speaker 7: With a big yawn. And she goes, look, it looks
- 37:54Speaker 7: like he's yelling and cheering on LSU. How cute. I
- 37:57Speaker 7: was like, well, when I do it, it's annoying. So
- 37:59Speaker 7: what the hell are we doing here?
- 38:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll learn that.
- 38:01Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 38:02Speaker 1: You'll learn that. All right. We are all fired up.
- 38:05Speaker 1: You're fired up. It is game week. And we're going
- 38:07Speaker 1: to be talking about it all week long here.
- 38:09Speaker 7: Let's go.
- 38:10Speaker 1: All right. Let's step away. On time. Look at us.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Not a big deal.

- 40:39Speaker 2: little Ask the Bench brought to you by Ice Cold
- 40:42Speaker 2: Dos Equis.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Score prediction for this weekend. I figured that one was coming.
- 40:49Speaker 3: We'll do that Friday.
- 40:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know if I'm there yet.
- 40:52Speaker 3: That's a Friday.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it feels like a very Friday thing.
- 40:54Speaker 5: I don't know if I can count high enough.
- 40:55Speaker 1: No, me either.
- 40:57Speaker 7: According to the practice report.
- 40:58Speaker 3: A million to zero?
- 40:59Speaker 7: Well, according to the practice report, LSU beat the Clemson
- 41:02Speaker 7: scout team 86 to 18. So I'll go with that.
- 41:06Speaker 5: They let the scout team score points?
- 41:08Speaker 7: 86 to 18, Matt. That's an indictment. That's what it says.
- 41:15Speaker 1: We'll have it.
- 41:15Speaker 5: We'll have all this picture. We'll print them out on
- 41:17Speaker 5: our printer from Golfus.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Ask the bench, how many glizzies can Taylor eat in
- 41:25Speaker 1: one sitting?
- 41:26Speaker 5: Too many.
- 41:29Speaker 7: More than I should.
- 41:31Speaker 5: Who's to say what too many is?
- 41:33Speaker 2: Ask the bench, love, marry, kill. Duck on the Jeep,
- 41:36Speaker 2: changing a flat, poop on the car.
- 41:40Speaker 3: That's so very Jake Smith.
- 41:42Speaker 2: I would love, I guess I would love changing a
- 41:46Speaker 2: flat because, you know, look, I mean, you get a
- 41:50Speaker 2: flat tire, you got to go change it.
- 41:53Speaker 1: You know, it is what it is.
- 41:54Speaker 2: You might have to fight a hundred people. I guess
- 41:57Speaker 2: we'll marry poop on the car and then we'll kill
- 42:01Speaker 2: ducks on a Jeep.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Dang.
- 42:02Speaker 5: You're going to marry poop on a car?
- 42:04Speaker 2: That's crazy. Yeah, because at the end of the day,
- 42:06Speaker 2: if it didn't happen to me, it's a story that
- 42:09Speaker 2: I would probably share more. Like a human being stopped
- 42:13Speaker 2: in traffic and ran over and had to pull his
- 42:15Speaker 2: pants down and poop on someone's car.
- 42:17Speaker 1: In public. In downtown Baton Rouge.
- 42:19Speaker 3: A very public parking lot. So, I mean, like, It
- 42:22Speaker 3: was daylight outside.
- 42:23Speaker 1: Very daylight.
- 42:24Speaker 7: It really is a great story.
- 42:25Speaker 6: He was caught in 4K.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Yes.
- 42:27Speaker 5: You're killing poop on a car. You're going to marry
- 42:31Speaker 5: changing a tire because that shows you as a man,
- 42:33Speaker 5: you're willing to fix things. Get your hands dirty a
- 42:37Speaker 5: little bit. You're marrying that.
- 42:38Speaker 2: In 17 minutes, I'm going to be sweating from all
- 42:40Speaker 2: the places. Sweating my guts out, as you would say.
- 42:42Speaker 3: Sweating the guts out.
- 42:43Speaker 5: Sweating your guts out, buddy.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Shout out Goldfish.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Shout out Goldfish. Hashtag Ask the Bench. Who scores the
- 42:49Speaker 1: first touchdown for LSU?
- 42:51Speaker 3: Great day for you.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Who scores the first touchdown? Dylan Jones. Dylan Jones.
- 42:58Speaker 6: Sure.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Whit Weeks.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Let me go. Oh, there you go.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Number seven.
- 43:04Speaker 3: I'm going to go DJ Pickett.
- 43:05Speaker 5: Little pick six. All right.
- 43:07Speaker 7: Malik Elsie.
- 43:07Speaker 5: I'm going to say it.
- 43:08Speaker 1: All right.
- 43:08Speaker 5: Jack Pyburn, sack fumble, first play of the game.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Whitwick picks it up. He had two more sacks, by
- 43:13Speaker 1: the way. Jack was doing really good. Is that in
- 43:15Speaker 1: the NFL?
- 43:17Speaker 5: The NFL?
- 43:17Speaker 1: Yeah. What the hell?
- 43:19Speaker 5: He's going to be playing for LSU. Led the NFL
- 43:22Speaker 5: in sacks.
- 43:23Speaker 6: My for real answer, I guess I'll stay on my
- 43:25Speaker 6: Jackson Harris train.
- 43:26Speaker 5: Okay.
- 43:27Speaker 1: I like it.
- 43:28Speaker 5: Who knows?
- 43:29Speaker 2: Ask the bench, is QB1 gritty enough to change his
- 43:32Speaker 2: own tire, or does he call AAA?
- 43:35Speaker 5: I'll change the tire. Record time.
- 43:39Speaker 3: You feel like a triple A-er.
- 43:40Speaker 1: You feel like a triple A-er.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Oh, no. I'll change tires.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Not that you could not.
- 43:43Speaker 7: But he changes tires.
- 43:45Speaker 1: With his slices.
- 43:45Speaker 5: I only get my hands dirty.
- 43:46Speaker 1: On your truck, it would be. You got to have a.
- 43:48Speaker 1: You can't. The jack that comes with your truck is
- 43:51Speaker 1: not going to jack.
- 43:52Speaker 5: Your truck up.
- 43:52Speaker 7: No, you need one of those hydraulic jacks.
- 43:54Speaker 1: You'd have to go get a hydraulic jack.
- 43:56Speaker 5: You think so? Why would they put a jack in
- 43:58Speaker 5: there if it doesn't work?
- 44:00Speaker 1: I've had that situation.
- 44:01Speaker 7: Dude, when you're changing other people's tires and the jack situation.
- 44:05Speaker 6: Tay-Tay chained my tire one time because I'm not going
- 44:09Speaker 6: to change my tire.
- 44:11Speaker 3: I know how to, but I'm not going to. And
- 44:13Speaker 3: my jack didn't. We had to get like cage jack
- 44:15Speaker 3: or something. The jack was not jacking.
- 44:20Speaker 5: That would really frustrate me.
- 44:22Speaker 3: It was frustrating.
- 44:23Speaker 5: If the jack that came with the car doesn't lift
- 44:25Speaker 5: the car. I've had that happen like three times to
- 44:27Speaker 5: me before. How many tires did you change them? I've
- 44:30Speaker 5: changed like two.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Oh, really? Ever? Good for you.
- 44:34Speaker 5: I've been in like two flat tires before.
- 44:35Speaker 7: Oh, dude.
- 44:36Speaker 5: No, I've done more than that. Lacey's got a flat
- 44:41Speaker 5: tire on her car, and her wheels had like this,
- 44:45Speaker 5: like not a normal.
- 44:47Speaker 5: Situation and it had to go get had to get
- 44:49Speaker 5: like a special key for oh yeah those are yeah
- 44:52Speaker 5: and it did the car did not come with that
- 44:54Speaker 5: key it's supposed to be in the glove box and
- 44:56Speaker 5: it's never in it's never in there and i had
- 44:58Speaker 5: to go buy one i'm like what would have happened
- 45:00Speaker 5: if this was like not in the convenience of our.
- 45:02Speaker 7: Home that was the problem with yours yeah the key
- 45:04Speaker 7: wasn't in it.
- 45:05Speaker 6: Yeah and then i eventually found the key yeah i
- 45:09Speaker 6: was like i mean we.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Just i hope jay bone's car doesn't have that you're
- 45:12Speaker 2: gonna hear all the cuss words if it doesn't from
- 45:14Speaker 2: universal From the campus, you're going to hear the cuss
- 45:17Speaker 2: words here at this studio.
- 45:20Speaker 5: What is going to be the touchdown celebration of the year?
- 45:24Speaker 7: Oh, I don't know. There wasn't a specific one week zero.
