- 0:10What does the nanny do? OK, so we're done.
- 0:13Goodbye. You.
- 0:16Shut it off. Do not twist my words.
- 0:19Do not make me a victim, sweetie.
- 0:21Just look at the mountain. That's what you.
- 0:23Saw. That day.
- 0:25Just the knife in the kidneys over all these years and the
- 0:29sacrifices that I made to love
- 0:48Hello everyone, Welcome back to my Sister Wives podcast.
- 0:52We're going to start this episode a little different.
- 0:54We're going to do a little housekeeping.
- 0:56A little. Public service announcement for
- 0:58our valued listeners. You may have noticed that
- 1:01recently we had a Keep Sweet moment that was repeated 1
- 1:06episode after another and Oh my gosh.
- 1:10So I'm going to volunteer right up front.
- 1:13That means that we talked about it twice, I edited it twice, I
- 1:18sent it to Kimber both times and
- 1:21And maybe it was on your listens
- 1:25were aware of this? It was post that I was listening
- 1:29randomly another time to the first episode that it was on and
- 1:35I was like no I remember the ending being different than that
- 1:39and saying something different
- 1:44realized. So when you pointed this out to
- 1:47me, I was going, Oh my gosh, this is crazy.
- 1:50I'm going, is Kimber like, you
- 1:56What does that even mean? And then you said something
- 1:59about the piggy pliggy tootsies.
- 2:00And I said, well, yeah, that's when we did it.
- 2:03And then I realized, no, that's not one of the times that we did
- 2:09listened, and you were right. And I thought, how on God's
- 2:13green earth could this have even happened?
- 2:15I mean, not to make it sound like we're perfect or anything,
- 2:19we are. We are just a couple of deadbeat
- 2:28possible? But we did have a delay because
- 2:30you were under the weather. And part of me is thinking,
- 2:33well, maybe there was just something with having had a
- 2:36break in between our recording sessions and maybe there was too
- 2:42remember. But this is kind of crazy.
- 2:45I mean, I don't even know. I think we just really liked the
- 2:48Keep Suite. It was a very touching thing and
- 2:53we really liked that one we did.
- 2:54We talked about it quite a bit on our own as well, and we just
- 2:58resonated with it, you know? Let's go with that.
- 3:01It was so moving. We loved it so much that we had
- 3:03to do it twice. I think that totally makes
- 3:05sense. It's not the fact that for some
- 3:09weird reason, who gave these two Muppets microphones and
- 3:13we're just tutoring through the day.
- 3:16It's not that. That's not it bumping around
- 3:20here. That's funny, especially hot off
- 3:23the heels of the ending of that episode where I was like, this
- 3:25is a whole new low for us. And literally it was in more
- 3:28than one and we didn't even know
- 3:31Wow. So anyway, apologies for anyone
- 3:33who would be offended if you were offended.
- 3:36That's pretty sad and you should
- 3:38It's just a sad, sad example of how great we are at this.
- 3:43So thank you everyone for coming
- 3:47Back to the important business
- 3:49Season 6, episode 13 of Sister
- 3:54This is not our first boys night
- 3:57sure if it's our last. I mean this boys night out
- 4:00pissed me off more than the first one that's for sure.
- 4:04The first one was more wholesome, this one not so much.
- 4:09Wow, buckle up listeners, this
- 4:14I did want to start with mentioning the previously on
- 4:17'cause you have been on a previously on and a coming up
- 4:20Bender of sorts recently. And I just wanted to say that on
- 4:24the previously on for this episode, Kody did have his
- 4:28famous demons out moment demons out.
- 4:31And it made me very happy. And it brings me a sick, sad and
- 4:34pathetic joy. And I'm not well and I'm OK
- 4:38acknowledging that. So thank you for thank you for
- 4:40listening to me, everybody. I do love that that was one of
- 4:43the recap clips that they pulled
- 4:47Demons out. Well, for this episode we start,
- 4:51as we have so many times, with
- 4:53Opening with the adults on the
- 4:56their family changes over the recent years.
- 4:58Robyn joining the family, Julian
- 5:02into Vegas and into their rentals, and now moving into
- 5:04their new homes. We don't have to give any more
- 5:07details than that, do we? No, it's just another clue here
- 5:12that this might have been meant to be a season opener that
- 5:16they're recapping that far back again.
- 5:20It's just kind of an odd thing
- 5:24I know that. The point is they're bringing
- 5:26this up because they're going to
- 5:31ceremony and why they're doing it.
- 5:33Because of all these changes over the last couple of years.
- 5:39ourselves in front of family and friends.
- 5:42But it also feels like the start of a season, too.
- 5:46I see what you mean, it does have a early episode in a season
- 6:02times in reality TV where we see couples having vow renewal
- 6:14The kiss of death. Yeah.
- 6:16Like if you're going to have your vows renewed on TV, you're
- 6:19probably going to get divorced pretty soon.
- 6:21And that's the roll of the dice on that one.
- 6:23Not even a roll of the dice. Like the odds are not in your
- 6:25favor if you're going to do that.
- 6:26I have heard that I think in real life, the only instances
- 6:30that I've and I don't even really know someone personally
- 6:37But from what I have gathered, it is more for people that had a
- 6:45celebrating 10 years or 20 years and so they decide to do some
- 6:49sort of ceremony because they didn't for the first one.
- 6:52So I could see it if that was the case.
- 6:56But these guys, it's another Band-Aid on a wound, A
- 7:01festering, gaping wound of the Brown family.
- 7:04They're yes, the Browns gaping wound.
- 7:07The Browns gaping wound and it has become infected and they're
- 7:11trying anything they can with those band aids losing.
- 7:15I'll stop using describing words for that.
- 7:18Let's describe the pus a little more good.
- 7:19You know this is just another one of their little band aids,
- 7:25polygamist families don't do this.
- 7:27Oh, I think most families period don't do this, but OK, whatever.
- 7:34with a precious gem. Honey, did you happen to capture
- 7:37the sentence that Robyn uttered?
- 7:39No, I was too blown away by Christine's hot pink maxi dress
- 7:43at that moment. The maxi dress.
- 7:47What did she say? Tell us.
- 7:50Robyn has a few just magical, magical things to say in this
- 7:55episode. And the first one here, hot off
- 7:57the heels of starting the episode, is, excuse me, let me
- 8:04figuring it out as we go as she smirks and shrugs and kind of
- 8:09goes like, and it's like, what are you even saying?
- 8:13We sort of kind of just figuring it out as we go.
- 8:17Like, thanks, Robyn. That's life, isn't it Robyn?
- 8:19That's just the fucking life. I was adding those details that
- 8:23really brings a story to life, that Robyn.
- 8:26There are a lot of dumb Robyn quotes in this episode and we
- 8:30usually get a lot, but there are there are so many in this one
- 8:34that just took the cake for me. Yeah, she was in rare form on
- 8:38this one. Yeah, Christine's hot pink maxi
- 8:41dress just distracted me so much.
- 8:44I missed that one, that's for sure.
- 8:45She was sitting on the end and she's wearing this, a long hot
- 8:53her on the end then, because like, you can see the full dress
- 9:00it. And then I noticed because I was
- 9:06bottle, just a plastic water bottle, sitting on the ground by
- 9:08her feet. Thanks, puddle Monkey.
- 9:11Losers. I'm glad I didn't notice that I
- 9:14would. I mean, I shouldn't say I'm
- 9:15glad, but I'm not surprised. And Janelle finally got some low
- 9:25Janelle's hair. I don't know if it was the color
- 9:31lighting or you know, the tones of the light in the episode, but
- 9:38Did they to you as well? I think her hair is naturally
- 9:42really like white blonde so if she is going Gray now they it's
- 9:47hard to add tone to that light of hair.
- 9:52And there was a big chunk behind her bang almost the stylist
- 9:57didn't know what to do or didn't do them fine enough for the
- 10:02texture of hair that Janelle has that like her fluff that she
- 10:06has. So she got some low lights.
- 10:09I don't know that it was much of an improvement on anything.
- 10:12I just kind of felt like it looked as though she added some
- 10:17dark grey in almost and it was just kind of strange.
- 10:21But you know she's. Trying.
- 10:22She's trying. She's trying now in.
- 10:25Preparation for this upcoming ceremony where they're going to
- 10:28not renew their commitments to each other but celebrate their
- 10:34venues for their big family event.
- 10:37So exciting and the adults arrive at Emerald at Queens
- 10:42Ridge. Like.
- 10:43Emerald at Queens Ridge, what a name for a event venue.
- 10:47We do get to meet the manager of this fabulous venue named Ken
- 10:52Kimball. Ken, Ken Kimball.
- 10:56Christine starts them off here, letting them know that they are
- 11:04all married to him and points right at Kody.
- 11:09They're talking about how they're there to do a
- 11:13recommitment ceremony, and Christina has to point this out,
- 11:22this. She likes to point out that
- 11:23they're all married to Kody, especially when they're in an
- 11:26instance like this, because she gets to gauge their reaction and
- 11:37I do get that she does it in a way that is jokey and silly,
- 11:43which is a little uncomfortable, but I can understand why you'd
- 11:53But she is just something it's. Like a combination of wanting to
- 12:01like you know? She gets.
- 12:02Yeah. She loves the reaction.
- 12:04Yeah, Ken tells them. We do all kinds of ceremonies.
- 12:11the government. We're capitalists.
- 12:12We're here to make money, which they all laugh at and laugh.
- 12:15You know. It's like, yeah, OK, I
- 12:18appreciate the sentiment. Thank you very much.
- 12:19Ken, we get. Another gem from Robyn.
- 12:21She goes. Have you ever had a polygamist
- 12:31Robyn? Think he would have led with
- 12:33that? OK.
- 12:34Right once he. Figured out that you were
- 12:38polygamists. He might have volunteered that
- 12:42solver, Robyn, we have a couch moment where Kody clarifies for
- 12:46us that this is not a vow renewal.
- 12:48So this is what's funny is up until now, I know that I've
- 12:52personally been saying recommitment ceremony.
- 12:54And then I noticed in this episode how many times they say
- 12:58commitment ceremony. And so I'm going, OK, well, I
- 13:01guess I don't know if I was, you know, making them sound terrible
- 13:10spiritual union that they have. It's a religious marriage and
- 13:14that. Oh, no, OK, this one has to be
- 13:22well? 1st, I want to say that Kody
- 13:25starts starts everybody off by saying it's very in vogue right
- 13:30now to renew your vows. It's very popular.
- 13:33It starts by saying it's in vogue in.
- 13:37Vogue. God, I'm going.
- 13:39To have to inaugurate the word en vogue into my daily, you
- 13:42know, vernacular, I think. Hot.
- 13:45Off the heels of Kody letting us know what's en vogue right now
- 13:57Got going. On here.
- 13:59You know, not everyone that gets married.
- 14:02It's not necessarily a spiritual union.
- 14:04It's not necessarily a religious marriage, But you're not exactly
- 14:11spirituality or religious practice.
- 14:12Like, give me a fucking break. She is so fucking dumb.
- 14:15Yeah. Kody gets very defensive about
- 14:21Those are eternal. We don't need to redo those.
- 14:25Like it would be insulting to redo those he's inferring here.
- 14:31I don't understand how that
- 14:33would be insulting. Isn't that?
- 14:35That is literally what this is
- 14:38When people do a commitment ceremony, it's about renewing
- 14:41your vows and recommitting to each other.
- 14:45I don't understand the difference here because they're
- 14:47saying that this is about them
- 14:52other as a family, not renewing their vows necessarily as
- 14:57married couples. But isn't it kind of the same?
- 15:03Isn't it semantics? I don't know.
- 15:05Yeah, it. Feels like splitting hairs to
- 15:06me. That's why I was saying I you
- 15:09know, I don't think I need to be
- 15:12recommitment ceremony when they are adamant that it is a
- 15:14commitment ceremony. Like OK, like it's like potato,
- 15:19potato, you know, it's like OK, sounds good.
- 15:21They. Pick such weird things to get
- 15:24defensive over. It's another one of those things
- 15:28that they're getting defensive
- 15:31anything, Nobody said anything.
- 15:32You're the 1:00 calling attention to it totally.
- 15:35Yeah. No one would probably even
- 15:37notice that they weren't talking about it.
- 15:39Ken, the venue manager, shows them the hall, which is, you
- 15:44know, big banquet space or event space, whatever.
- 15:46And then they head outdoors, and Janelle says that she envisions
- 15:50their event happening outdoors. They go, and they stand by some,
- 15:57whatever. It's like OK.
- 15:58That looks too perfect and weird
- 16:03It definitely did not look like a place that you would want to
- 16:07take photos and it would look all beautiful.
- 16:08It would look like T move version of a pretty place, you
- 16:11know it. Was very man made looking Meri.
- 16:15Points out that they haven't gotten on the same page about
- 16:17what this event should be, which
- 16:20thinking different things. And I'm just going, Oh my God,
- 16:23when are you ever on the same page about anything?
- 16:25These people never talk about anything.
- 16:27And so of course, we're not surprised.
- 16:30Yeah. She says.
- 16:30I don't think that this venue is
- 16:33It's more for weddings. It's more for a big wedding.
- 16:38Yeah. You think?
- 16:39Yeah. Yeah, that's basically what it
- 16:41looks like. They.
- 16:42Can't agree on the type of party.
- 16:45Is what one of them says on the couch.
- 16:49OK, can't agree on the type of
- 16:52You can't even agree what type
- 16:56So I don't understand what's happening here and what are the?
- 16:59Variables of the party like one of them saying I want it to be
- 17:0280's rock band theme and another
- 17:04different like it's like how big
- 17:07even be on opinions about a commitment ceremony I mean I.
- 17:10Don't know very. Strange everything.
- 17:12Is difficult for these guys. Everything just has to be so
- 17:15difficult that it boggles my mind and makes me feel stupid
- 17:22sometimes because I think I'm overthinking it then because I'm
- 17:26so confused as to why it's difficult for them right?
- 17:30It's like, what am I missing here?
- 17:31And it's like you're not missing
- 17:33They're missing some brain cells.
- 17:35We. Find out that The Venue The
- 17:37starting cost for The Venue is
- 17:43package. So that includes the catering,
- 17:48the ceremony, reception area, the cake I believe they said.
- 17:55Or not even the cake for that one, no.
- 17:57Cake. Christine, I think, asks the
- 17:59cake and he says no, no. So that's the star and
- 18:03everything. Else, yeah, before we learn
- 18:05about the financial details, we do get a little split moment of
- 18:09Kody doing some moonwalking and bad dancing on the dance floor
- 18:13in the event space. And I just wanted to point it
- 18:16out because everyone is kind of Half Moon standing around just
- 18:19watching him as he's putting on his own little show for his
- 18:22wives and Ken. And it wasn't the most tragic
- 18:26thing I've ever seen, but it's
- 18:29It's like, what are you doing?
- 18:31Him very like when they tasted
- 18:35Robyn's wedding and he stood up and did his little like cha cha
- 18:38dance that was awkward at that
- 18:42Pants. I never want to shame anyone for
- 18:45having fun because if you're the
- 18:49dancing at a concert or something and looks insane and
- 18:54doesn't care what anyone else is
- 18:56Enjoy your life, you live your
- 18:58Yes. Yes, but.
- 19:00Some of these instances where he
- 19:03just be so embarrassed if it was
- 19:07the gumption. Up to just be like.
- 19:10I'm going to go out here and dork it up in front of the
- 19:14cameras. This random guy I just met in my
- 19:17wives. Yeah, he's.
- 19:19Definitely desperate for attention.
- 19:21And let's just say you did do something like that and then the
- 19:25first time you saw it on film,
- 19:28self, when the camera crews are here, don't do something that
- 19:31makes me look like a pathetic person who's desperate for
- 19:33attention. And Kody's like probably going,
- 19:35oh, I look so cool. It's like, no you do not.
- 19:38Yeah, no self-awareness whatsoever.
- 19:42But. This $10,500 initial cost for an
- 19:45event has Christine saying that it took her breath away the
- 19:49cost because it's only the starting cost and there could
- 19:51only be additional costs on top of that.
- 19:54And yeah, I don't know, a venue like that, $10,000 doesn't go
- 19:58very far. So I don't really know what they
- 20:03It's huge. And they, they do reiterate to
- 20:09the outdoor space. It's not like you're renting one
- 20:20rain, sometimes these venues don't have a backup plan for
- 20:24you. And so to me that's not that
- 20:28much money when you're thinking about a wedding.
- 20:32I know people that have spent like 30 K plus on weddings,
- 20:36which I'm sorry that scares the shit out of me and I could never
- 20:47that be the full fee for probably clean up and set that
- 20:53That is not expensive. However, for a party where you
- 21:04Again, that might be too much for that.
- 21:07Yeah, they keep calling it to Ken.
- 21:09They keep calling it a reception.
- 21:11So I guess for an actual full on wedding, that's not that much
- 21:16money. But if you were just say you got
- 21:22reception somewhere, you would not expect to pay the full
- 21:25wedding price because you didn't have your wedding there.
- 21:27So I can see why it would be a lot, but the space is huge.
- 21:32So I don't know. Janelle is not shocked by the
- 21:36price and Janelle thinks that it's actually a pretty good
- 21:40deal. But when you.
- 21:40Have to do all of those things on your own and hire vendors and
- 21:45that's why they have the pricing they do and level headed Janelle
- 21:50absolutely normal price. And I first I was going, is it
- 21:55world works? And then I'm like, no, they've
- 21:58should not have been surprising. Kody pisses me off with what he
- 22:03says. He says that it's about a good
- 22:08parties, he's conservative when it comes to their parties, but
- 22:22But Nah, we know you're really saying this party is for me.
- 22:29And yeah, my image is at stake here.
- 22:33I totally believe that he meant that I.
- 22:35Do too and it's being filmed. I don't know if production paid
- 22:40for Robyn's wedding party, who knows, but you know, it is for
- 22:46His reputation. After he did that moonwalk on
- 22:49the dance floor, he had to renew his reputation.
- 22:51No, excuse me, not renew. He had to some other word that
- 22:57not renew. Someone's yelling again.
- 23:01Who's yelling? Somebody that's listening is
- 23:05yelling right now at us through not knowing.
- 23:08Because of our lack of vocabulary.
- 23:09Yeah. OK, OK.
- 23:11Yeah, sorry about that. Revamp his image.
- 23:14Revive his image. Save.
- 23:17His image Rehabilitate his image.
- 23:21In other words, do we know? Yeah.
- 23:25There's no, there's no rehabilitating Kody's image.
- 23:28Absolutely not. We have a cut to the Brown
- 23:33family cul-de-sac. Kind of a whiplash moment.
- 23:35All of a sudden we're back at the property where Kody's friend
- 23:43Brett's wife name is now because you know, she is a woman and
- 23:46knowing her name is not that important.
- 23:47Oh, do we know? They told.
- 23:48Us right away. Oh God never has to.
- 23:52Be I'm you. That was part of the.
- 23:55Man, typical. Typical Chris.
- 23:56OK, So what is her name? Darling Brett?
- 23:59And Ava are coming to town, we find out.
- 24:02We jump right into the background story about Kody with
- 24:08with Brett directly before joining the AUB cult.
- 24:11He doesn't label the AUB cult the AUB cult, but that's what we
- 24:18Robyn's wedding is a note from me here.
- 24:20I don't know that they have a flashback in this moment, but
- 24:23that was a note that stood out to me as I recall him.
- 24:26I remember him from the wedding footage.
- 24:28Yeah, they show us flashbacks to the wedding footage a few times
- 24:31here, and we get more of that back story later.
- 24:35Brettt shares with us that they always joked that they are like
- 24:41cosmic brothers. Cosmic brothers, like they were
- 24:45meant to be together as friends.
- 24:48It was written in the stars. They called each other their
- 24:52cosmic brothers. So that just tells you we're
- 24:56we're just starting to get to know their relationship here.
- 25:00Yeah, we learn a lot. Which one do?
- 25:02You think is the Big Dipper? And which one's the Little
- 25:04Dipper? That's what I want to know.
- 25:05The big. Dipper is for sure, Brett.
- 25:08Thank you. For sure the stars have aligned.
- 25:11My dreams are coming true. By the end of this episode, you
- 25:13all are going to hate me because
- 25:16OK, let's move on. Let's move on.
- 25:18Are you for real? Oh my God.
- 25:23Oh, listen, I'm just glad he's a
- 25:26know, I'm a different kind of constellation.
- 25:27I'm special, I'm unique, and he's just one that everyone can
- 25:30find in the sky. So I'm OK with that.
- 25:31Holy. Goodness, Shawn.
- 25:33Janelle's trainer is also there at the cul-de-sac, and he's
- 25:36there to help Kody and Brett with some wrestling mats that
- 25:39they're going to install in the garage for Hunter.
- 25:42Yeah. Janelle did not realize how much
- 25:45space these mats were going to
- 25:48They are going to be wall to wall, floor to floor, floor to
- 25:54ceiling, over the garage door,
- 25:59She won't even be able to open
- 26:02No boxes against the walls, nothing.
- 26:05She. Says that she does need to be
- 26:07able to put some stuff in her garage.
- 26:11Yeah, I was just cackling as they were saying how much space
- 26:15like a padded room They are making an entire padded room,
- 26:21straight jacket type of padded
- 26:24It was pretty funny how they were describing it well.
- 26:28I'm just imagining in most scenarios.
- 26:30OK, this isn't a normal scenario
- 26:32Who's bringing home like commercial wrestling gym mats to
- 26:36put into the garage without clearly describing what it's
- 26:39going to be to their wife? But I also was thinking, how
- 26:43many husbands would just say, I'm going to put some mats in
- 26:45the garage and then it shows up and this is the situation and
- 26:48the wife is going, are you fucking kidding me?
- 26:49A lot. Of husbands would do that, a lot
- 26:52of them, yeah. Straight.
- 26:54Men are the best they. Really, really are.
- 26:57You would know a lot of it because you hang out with them
- 26:59in the manosphere all the time.
- 27:01So oh, that's. Right, this is actually one of
- 27:11Yeah, we get to hear a lot about the garages and how it should be
- 27:22of the manosphere, they throw Christine under the bus.
- 27:27Christine, hey, you've got a clean garage.
- 27:31What about using your garage? And then cut to Brett saying the
- 27:40Everybody knows that the garage is the man cave.
- 27:43Kody has four garages. How can't he have a garage for
- 27:49Also says it's universal law. It's universal law.
- 27:55Oh, that's my Brett. Starting out strong here, it's
- 28:06cosmic brothers with Kody and he loves the good man cave the
- 28:11eye. Does he does also have some very
- 28:14keen observation skills because he notices that wives aren't
- 28:18thinking. It's very amusing.
- 28:20You know, his lame jokes. They don't find him so amusing
- 28:23because they said that. There's a moment where they show
- 28:25Janelle and she's literally like
- 28:27her face, glancing around like, Oh my God, what are you
- 28:30talking about? Love that.
- 28:32Janelle is saying I have things that I need to have in my
- 28:36garage still. I cannot have this be wall to
- 28:40wall mats and Christine has cleaned out her garage and
- 28:46hasn't had anything in there for
- 28:48Everybody knows that her garage is clean.
- 28:50So she gets Volun told essentially that it's going to
- 28:55be her garage. And Meri is standing over there
- 28:57like, well I am just moving in
- 29:00I have so many boxes, don't even
- 29:04She is just trying to hide whatever the Frick is going on
- 29:07in that house. She doesn't want anyone over
- 29:10there, not even in her garage.
- 29:15into the garage like. Amen, Mayor.
- 29:17Yeah. So Christine wants to have this
- 29:20conversation alone with Kody, not in front of everybody who's
- 29:25standing around there, which I
- 29:29You've got Ava, you've got Brett, you've got Sean, all the
- 29:32other wives. And you're just bringing this up
- 29:34for the first time to her in front of everyone and expecting
- 29:37an answer. And Kody yells, you're going to
- 29:40blackmail me, aren't you, in front of everyone?
- 29:44He says that because she wants
- 29:47with him about being told that
- 29:52thing for him. There was.
- 29:54An editing gold moment here where when she says let's have a
- 29:56conversation about this and a lone conversation, OK.
- 30:00And there was this audio effect that was like Dun Dun like.
- 30:04Like the? Drama's about to unfold and
- 30:07that's what he says, oh, you're going to blackmail me?
- 30:08And she says, I'm not going to
- 30:12And Janelle does back up Christine.
- 30:14She's like, you really do need
- 30:16Like, yeah. You just are springing this on
- 30:18her, yeah. This is not some sort of
- 30:20dramatic theatrics from Christine which we get often.
- 30:24You literally need to go talk to
- 30:26Like come on. So.
- 30:27They wander off together and they go and stand in somebody's
- 30:31doorway. They don't even really show us
- 30:34whose doorway it is. We don't hear the conversation.
- 30:39Kody and Christine have their mics off so we're seeing
- 30:43Christine's back and Kody's front and they're having this
- 30:45conversation in a front door way
- 30:51from voice over and interview from Kody.
- 30:56And Kody says that Christine told him you're going to be a
- 31:01better husband, you're going to spend more time at my house.
- 31:05I'm going to get more grocery money.
- 31:07And I basically had to talk her into it.
- 31:10How is that you talking her into
- 31:14I don't know. It seems like a reasonable list
- 31:16considering that we know that Kody does not spend a lot of
- 31:19time at her house, she probably does need more grocery money,
- 31:22and he does need to be a better husband.
- 31:23So at least the list was accurate.
- 31:25But, you know, he has a way of
- 31:29it and he's a decision maker, which we get to later in the
- 31:31episode. You know there's.
- 31:32His perception of himself is somewhat altered, I would say.
- 31:36So let's you know, he's got to
- 31:39went. I.
- 31:40Just feel like he's such a bumbling idiot because you
- 31:43purposely had your mics off for this conversation so you didn't
- 31:47want anyone to hear or Christine
- 31:51hearing. And you're going to come and
- 31:54tell the camera in an interview what she said and it makes you
- 31:59look bad. She said you're going to be a
- 32:02better husband. You're going to spend more time
- 32:04at my house. As a viewer, I'm like, what is
- 32:08he doing? Why is she having to request
- 32:12these things from him? That's weird.
- 32:14He's. Busy pulling the weeds in
- 32:16Robyn's yard, you know? Yeah.
- 32:18Not pulling her weeds. Her garden hasn't been
- 32:22flourishing for a long time. He has.
- 32:24Not been on his knees tending to
- 32:28See. If me and my husband were doing
- 32:30some jokey, OK, if you're going to do that, I get this, I'd be
- 32:35saying I get foot rubs the next month every single night I get
- 32:40to go and pick a purse out at the Coach store, something like
- 32:44that. You know, it wouldn't be so
- 32:45serious. Like you better get your shit
- 32:47together. I'm going to tear these mats out
- 32:49one. 100, I know I would be like, I get to pick out a
- 32:52vacation in the next year and you have to say yes, and I'll
- 32:54stay stateside. It's fine.
- 32:56I'll keep it reasonable. But 100, it wouldn't be like,
- 32:59please be a better husband, father and provider.
- 33:02Yeah. God, he should have been
- 33:04embarrassed to come and say that
- 33:07Which calls us everything we need to know about him again.
- 33:13Kody. Reassures Christine that the
- 33:15mats will be used almost daily
- 33:18kids, so this is going to be a
- 33:20She's doing a charitable act, almost like Mark Twain said it
- 33:24would be for any man to marry one of those homely women,
- 33:27downtrodden women, the downtrodden women.
- 33:32And. This is great because we get a
- 33:33little transition here where they're backing up EU Haul to
- 33:36Christine's garage. I noticed EU Haul before, but
- 33:39you're not really connecting the
- 33:41this all comes together. Where?
- 33:43OK, EU Haul has these huge fucking Jim Manson.
- 33:47Huge. Do you know how heavy those
- 33:49things are? So.
- 33:51Heavy they are they? Could.
- 33:53Kill. A person, probably no joke, yes.
- 33:56So the guys start pulling these mats out of the back of EU haul
- 34:00into Christine's garage. And the reason that I knew they
- 34:03were heavy one yes, there was some visual indicators.
- 34:05Kody looked like he was going to
- 34:08whatever, fill in the blanks. But there was a lot of groaning
- 34:11and moaning and man noises, grunts and.
- 34:18Oh my gosh, we've got Brett on
- 34:21Sorry. We've got Brett on the front of
- 34:24the mat. He's holding it.
- 34:27It's still in the truck. Sean is pushing.
- 34:30Kody's dumb ass decides to get
- 34:34hold it up with his back. Excuse me, Sir, what the fuck
- 34:40were you thinking? So he's literally not even doing
- 34:45anything except trying to be a
- 34:48And then he kind of falls. I don't think he realized how
- 34:51heavy it was going to be. So when it goes on in me kind of
- 34:54falls and then decides to stand up and use his arms.
- 34:59Yeah, he's a bumbling fool. I don't know how to really
- 35:02describe these mats. I'm thinking things like a
- 35:04literal gym or a dance studio.
- 35:07commercial mats in the future.
- 35:12something similar again in another garage.
- 35:14We don't see the move in. We just see him with the mats.
- 35:17And it's at Robyn's house. And Robyn is like, I don't even
- 35:21know what we're going to do with
- 35:23Like, how do you clean them? Like they've been used by high
- 35:25schoolers for how many years? They're probably full of disease
- 35:27and you know, whatever. And I'm thinking these mats
- 35:30probably are used from a high school or something.
- 35:33And it's like, Oh my God, like
- 35:37I'm just imagining the smell and
- 35:40the. Athlete's foot, The Scabies.
- 35:46All of the things you'd want to spray a lot for, and he
- 35:49probably didn't spray at all. So that's Kody for you.
- 35:52Oh my goodness. Yeah.
- 35:53They're about two inches, 3 inches thick.
- 35:56They're girthy and they're rolled up and giant sausage of
- 36:03Matt that they're attempting to move on their own with three
- 36:07men. We get a cute sidebar from
- 36:10Hunter. Yeah.
- 36:12Oh, Hunter, he's growing up. He, you know, when you before
- 36:15you said there was that the Q&A,
- 36:19out of nowhere and the way he was sitting in the clothes he
- 36:21was wearing, we were talking about him looking so jockish.
- 36:23And that is happening more and
- 36:25He's got that thickness and he
- 36:28man. He's very if he wasn't such a
- 36:31sweetheart, I'd say he looks like a meathead.
- 36:32But I love him, so I'm like, no,
- 36:35He totally does. You can.
- 36:36Look like a meathead and be soft
- 36:40Yeah. I know he's like the perfect man
- 36:42for me, but not now because he's
- 36:45this from the record. It's totally pathetic and
- 36:46disgusting. Hunter says that Kody was a very
- 36:51successful wrestler and he likes
- 36:56his sons. He likes to wrestle with Hunter
- 36:59and Logan and relive his glory
- 37:05Hunter. Also kind of a pathetic moment
- 37:09for Kody. Your child saying you're going
- 37:12to relive your glory days. Yeah, well, hunters having this,
- 37:16you know, one-on-one moment out in the street, he's like
- 37:18standing on the cul-de-sac. He's just having a 2 camera
- 37:20moment. And as he's talking, they do an
- 37:22overlay of this picture of Kody as a teenager in a singlet
- 37:27wrestling a still image and a placard is imposed over the
- 37:31screen that says Kody Brown, 1985 state champion.
- 37:36This is not going to be the last
- 37:40glory days, his peak in life, you know, not the marriages,
- 37:43not his children, not having ATV show, not being America's most
- 37:46hated polygamist. He was state champion in 1985 in
- 37:50high school wrestling. So.
- 37:52That's. You know, and not taking that
- 37:54away from anybody, if you're proud of it, you're proud of it.
- 37:55But it's just Kody, Kody, Kody.
- 37:59It's. Just funny because it's him, you
- 38:04This is. It could actually be something
- 38:10valedictorian. And I'd be like, he must have
- 38:11paid for it. Like, he's a liar and a fraud.
- 38:18relive his golden years, the men start unrolling these huge
- 38:22wrestling bats in Christine's garage.
- 38:24And they're using a DeWalt electric hand saw to cut the mat
- 38:35So they have a hand saw. And I think it's Brett.
- 38:38I'm not sure one of them is sawing this thing because it is
- 38:41inches thick. It's commercial fucking mat.
- 38:43And it's so funny to see because of course, in my mind, I am a
- 38:47gay man who's not great with power tools, but I'm going, I
- 38:49hope they have that blade high enough to not be like, dulling
- 38:54what they're doing? Because, you know, it is Kody,
- 38:58And then the remnants of what was left that was out in the
- 39:01garage that they cut with his handsaw they take and put up
- 39:04against the wall. So it does make that padded room
- 39:09They're literally making a padded room in Christine's
- 39:11garage. Crazy.
- 39:14I don't know how they get it to stick up there, if they're
- 39:15nailing it to the wall or what
- 39:19I don't remember if it was up later or not, or if they just
- 39:22tried and then abandoned it. I couldn't tell you do.
- 39:24They really do that in padded rooms.
- 39:28Oh, girl, I don't know. I.
- 39:29Just don't get that. I thought it would just be the
- 39:31floor but I don't know. Yeah.
- 39:34I'm thinking about wrestling in the sense of like the high
- 39:36school wrestling, the sport. Wrestling like Kody's, you know,
- 39:39his peak in life. I could imagine if you're doing
- 39:42your shit and then you get off
- 39:45the wall and it would be nice for it to be padded and not.
- 39:47Concrete. Yeah, or whatever their, you
- 39:50know, drywall or whatever their shit is.
- 39:52So that doesn't make sense, but also makes sense to me.
- 39:55And I know nothing about wrestling or mats or padded
- 39:57rooms. I've never been in one.
- 40:00I've been in a padded room before.
- 40:01I know. Yeah, you.
- 40:04Might not know it from the show,
- 40:08Next, we get an aerial shot of
- 40:14different driveways in the cul-de-sac towards Christine's
- 40:19garage. And we get the Dun.
- 40:21Dun Dun Dun type. Of warrior music.
- 40:24They're all walking up to the garage and Christine goes
- 40:30welcome to my wrestling room when they all arrive.
- 40:36So cheesy. This is where Kody says that
- 40:39Brett is going to show him some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
- 40:43And I thought, oh Brazilian, you
- 40:46of a moment here with Kody, a touching moment where his little
- 40:48dipper went inside of my Big Dipper and he said that he is
- 40:52going to be shown by Brett this Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
- 40:57And I was like, oh, Kody, he has
- 40:59the beginning of Brazilian Jiu
- 41:02And I thought, OK, there's someone else that does that too
- 41:05and my idol. So I felt included and it
- 41:10included and special. Gosh.
- 41:14So now we're going to cue the flashback montage of old photos
- 41:18of Kody and Brett from their youth.
- 41:20Oh my God. Well, they're intergalactic
- 41:23planetary youth. And we have a voiceover from
- 41:26Kody, and he says there was an
- 41:31I wouldn't call it a man crush, but we just liked each other
- 41:34right from the beginning. About his special relationship
- 41:38with Brett. And then the footage switches
- 41:41from this flashback footage to
- 41:44garage like grown man boys, Kody
- 41:48But Brett and I were going to take two different paths
- 41:51religiously. Religiously.
- 41:56Their. Paths diverged.
- 41:59Brett says. We were both having a crisis of
- 42:01faith at the time, which I was
- 42:04about a crises of faith. Well, turns out their crisis of
- 42:07faith is complete bullshit on one side and pretty reasonable
- 42:10on the other at this point. When they're on the mission,
- 42:13that's when Kody's dad married
- 42:17So that's an important detail that we, you know, bring up
- 42:20sometimes. Whatever in their timeline,
- 42:22Kody's gone to the mission and
- 42:26second wife. And Kody's mom was writing him
- 42:28letters about, we've come to this new faith and I'm letting
- 42:32my husband, you know, touch another vagina and blah, blah,
- 42:35blah, blah, blah. And that's when we hear from
- 42:38Brett about what was happening
- 42:41What would what did they call it, this crisis of faith?
- 42:45Brett, his version of the church
- 42:49So his parents raised him as a
- 42:53watered down version. They never were really truly
- 42:58ingrained in it. And so they didn't know about
- 43:02the fundamentalist side of things.
- 43:04They didn't know that Mormonism started with polygamy.
- 43:10And so when he found this out,
- 43:14him. And then he ended up leaving the
- 43:18Mormon church and religion all
- 43:23at all anymore. Just.
- 43:25As his celestial brother was taking a path into that Mormon
- 43:28fundamentalism, deeper, deeper
- 43:32yes. Just as Kody was learning that,
- 43:34Brett was learning that this is all a farce.
- 43:37Yeah. This is all make believe We have
- 43:41a couch moment where Janelle talks about how Kody needs to
- 43:43spend time with friends because of their family structure.
- 43:47Obviously, you know Kody having four wives.
- 43:49He's very occupied, he's very busy, he's very wife centric and
- 43:52he's clearly constantly taking
- 43:56And she tells us about testosterone Tuesday.
- 44:00Which was the thing. Back in the day where Kody would
- 44:01hang out with his male friends
- 44:05husband after recharging with fellow humans that have penises.
- 44:11I think this is true through in a sense, I think everybody
- 44:16needs friends outside of their
- 44:18Your spouse or your partner cannot be your everything, and
- 44:24they shouldn't have to be your
- 44:26You should get things from external relationships and
- 44:30friendships. You know, you get different
- 44:32things from your parents as you grow to be an adult.
- 44:34You get different things out of your friendships and to put all
- 44:38the pressure on your spouse to
- 44:42It's just not a good idea, you
- 44:45Yeah. So I can understand this
- 44:46sentiment. The testosterone Tuesday of it
- 44:50all is a bit manosphere again.
- 44:59It's coded as that. Well, I'm.
- 45:01Just thinking about instead of
- 45:04I'll do testosterone Tuesday. I think it smells like it might
- 45:07be just as good and. I'll continue to do Taco Tuesday
- 45:11with the girls because we all have pink tacos.
- 45:15Oh God, I know. That was quite a setup, wasn't
- 45:17it? You.
- 45:18Did you set me up for that? I couldn't not take the bait.
- 45:22Back inside the garage, Kody tells Brett and Sean that he has
- 45:25dinner plans for them on the Strip because, you know, Brett
- 45:28is visiting from out of town. Sean probably doesn't give a
- 45:31fuck about being on the strip,
- 45:33But first, Kody has a surprise
- 45:39his testosterone friends. And I thought, oh, how
- 45:43masculine, how Butch, how little
- 45:46Kody, we. Keep throughout this episode
- 45:49getting random clips of interview footage from Brett.
- 45:54And we get another random interview clip from Brett where
- 45:58he's just reiterating yet again for the 500th time, that Kody
- 46:02is his best friend. That's a guy.
- 46:05And he worries about Kody allowing the energy of all of
- 46:10the wives to take off in different directions.
- 46:15What the fuck? And to cause chaos because of
- 46:21all the different wives, the energy.
- 46:24It was a weird interview clip that they pulled for him in the
- 46:30middle of the couch with the women and Kody announcing
- 46:34they're going to dinner and it
- 46:38That's what I'm saying. Well, he.
- 46:40Does wrap up his statement by saying I don't envy Kody at all.
- 46:43I could never deal with that. And then he's laughing.
- 46:46So he's, you know, trying to tee
- 46:49with, but it just. Feels a little awkward, like
- 46:52he's making a joke at Kody's expense and his wife's expense.
- 46:56Where if if I was doing an interview on a friends TV show I
- 47:00probably would be careful what I
- 47:04I don't. There's a few times during this
- 47:06where I'm thinking to myself, dude, rein it in.
- 47:10He's got no couth, I'll tell you
- 47:13They. Have a long complicated
- 47:15relationship. And it was about this time in
- 47:17the episode where I said, you know what, if Brett asked me
- 47:20out, I would say yes. I would totally say yes.
- 47:23I think Brett is a somewhat handsome middle-aged man, and I
- 47:29read between the lines and assumed he was a Big Dipper, and
- 47:32I thought I would totally say yes if he asked me out.
- 47:36So this is where you and I, you know, this is going to be some
- 47:38choppy waters moving forward because I'm going to stand up
- 47:41for my man, OK? I personally would not play hide
- 47:44the hot dog with Brett but that's just me.
- 47:47I wouldn't let him eat crackers in my bed.
- 47:49He would for sure get kicked out, but maybe he could eat
- 47:52crackers in your bed. I'm like, Brett, do you want to
- 47:57eat some crackers? And I have like saltines on my
- 47:59ass and bread and I'm just like hungry.
- 48:02And he's like, are those saltines?
- 48:04Like those aren't. Manly enough crackers for me.
- 48:08Oh yeah, I need the man crackers
- 48:10The driest crackers ever, so that I can stand here and chew
- 48:13them in your face and look tough.
- 48:16I'm like, oh, I choke. I'm like, this is a mistake.
- 48:19It's all a mistake. Oh my God.
- 48:22What is? Wrong with us.
- 48:25And we learned that while Kody
- 48:27some manly bonding, some intergalactic, planetary,
- 48:31planetary intergalactic bonding,
- 48:35Brett's wife Ava to the zoo with
- 48:39their own. We arrive at the zoo and meet
- 48:43Carrie and Carrie is going to take them all on the zoo tour.
- 48:49Oh, I didn't know you had got a tour guide for going to the
- 48:52zoo. Well, Puddle Monkey did do one
- 48:58time and got a release and asked if there's someone that could
- 49:01show them, you know, like, Oh my God.
- 49:03What I love about Carrie's appearance personally is that
- 49:06she's wearing those thick white plastic sunglasses that everyone
- 49:17I was so cool. You were.
- 49:19You were. Thank you for just acknowledging
- 49:23I'm your Robyn, if nothing else. Oh God, I'm.
- 49:27Your your hype woman. Oh God.
- 49:30No. Oh, I regret this.
- 49:32I regret this. I just need to follow you around
- 49:38Oh God, and you're my Christine. Getting worse.
- 49:42You were your mall. Could you be my Janelle though?
- 49:48Really, could you?
- 49:48I'm going to. End up in that padded garage.
- 49:51Just the way it just. Rocking back and forth trying to
- 49:54be all of the wives. I tried.
- 49:56To be all the sister wives I. Tried Oh my God the 1st.
- 50:01Animal that they get to hold. Is a baby kangaroo.
- 50:07That was so. Cute.
- 50:09What? They cut to Janelle holding this
- 50:11baby kangaroo and her arms in a blanket, and she says it feels
- 50:14like holding a human baby. Oh my God, It's so adorable.
- 50:20I want to hold a baby kangaroo.
- 50:21Yeah. Oh my God.
- 50:23Savannah is going crazy over holding the baby kangaroo, which
- 50:30gets to hold the baby kangaroo before the other kids, I think,
- 50:33and she's having the time of her life and I would be too.
- 50:37It's. Adorable.
- 50:38And this is where we get to fall more and more in love with
- 50:42Robyn, as we do collectively every week.
- 50:45Now, honey, this one who? This one's opening a can of
- 50:49worms. This one's opening a can of
- 50:51worms. It.
- 50:51Really is. Robyn lets us sit on a little
- 50:55secret, another little secret about her.
- 50:57I'm not a fan of animals. I'm not an animal person.
- 51:03This is no offense to anyone. I am not an animal person.
- 51:08I don't do animals. I don't it's because of their
- 51:13germs. If there was an animal that
- 51:15didn't poop or pee, I would be cool with that.
- 51:18A pet rock, perhaps? Robyn.
- 51:21Yes, we should get Robyn a pet rock and I'm having flashbacks
- 51:29I'm going to ask you for some help here because I'm having a
- 51:42walking up the sidewalk to the front door and the kids are with
- 51:47And there's a dog that's approaching her.
- 51:49Maybe the dog was too excited, I'm not sure, but she kicks the
- 51:55fucking dog. Apparently this footage has been
- 52:02captures of the actual few frames where you can visibly see
- 52:11So homework for our listeners, if you can find this footage
- 52:15would be ideal. Photos of it, please tag us,
- 52:19send it our way, let us know where we can find it.
- 52:22Because I would love to share it for everyone.
- 52:25Just to let everyone be reminded of how much we love Robyn and
- 52:28how great of a person she is. Because if there's anything I
- 52:30say about people that don't like animals, it's that they're great
- 52:36Red flag huge. Red flag, people.
- 52:40Who don't like animals are so weird to me and I can understand
- 52:48once. Maybe you're scared of dogs for
- 52:50a certain reason. She doesn't tell us any of that
- 52:54and she's just generally saying I'm not an animal person.
- 52:58Not even. I'm not a dog person, I'm not a
- 53:00wild animal person, I am not an animal person.
- 53:05And that blanket statement makes
- 53:10Something's wrong with you it.
- 53:14where we've questioned is she smart and evil or is she stupid
- 53:18and evil? And this one I'm going to put in
- 53:20the category of stupid and evil because an evil smart person
- 53:24would at least know enough to not say on national television
- 53:26that they don't like animals. I can't even believe she has the
- 53:29balls to say this while being filmed.
- 53:31It's nuts. And.
- 53:32She's standing back the entire
- 53:36grimacing and making faces as they're holding and touching
- 53:40animals. She's Ewing and cringing back.
- 53:46Can you tame it down? What are you doing?
- 53:49You are making yourself look awful and there's just no
- 53:54self-awareness there too. Just like Kody with his dancing.
- 53:59How do you not realize that this
- 54:03The whole family's enjoying this
- 54:07joyous, and you're standing back
- 54:13even know. Yeah.
- 54:14Like it's a torturous situation.
- 54:15Even if you weren't being filmed, your young children are
- 54:18there. Put on a little bit of a front
- 54:23disgusting to you. Like, just be there.
- 54:25You don't have to hold the baby kangaroo.
- 54:26We're going to hold a big snake next.
- 54:29You don't have to hold a big snake.
- 54:30Just stand there like a normal fucking human being.
- 54:33My God, they're. Having fun.
- 54:34Your kids are having fun, which means you should be enjoying it
- 54:38somewhat that your kids are enjoying it.
- 54:40I just have to say this one more time because this is not
- 54:44something that would happen nowadays.
- 54:46They got to hold a baby kangaroo.
- 54:48The fuck would not want to hold a baby kangaroo.
- 54:54Wrapped up in a blanket. Like it was so cute.
- 54:57It was. Adorable.
- 54:58You can't get away withholding baby Kangaroos nowadays, so you
- 55:03missed out Robyn. Animal hater is animal hating
- 55:07bitch is it is. Is the woke crowd made it not OK
- 55:16It would be highly frowned upon if you help a baby kangaroo
- 55:19nowadays. I'm just saying I don't know.
- 55:23I don't know if it's a law, but. I love it.
- 55:27My first ask. My first ask from our studio
- 55:30audience, thank you very much, was just a minute ago and now
- 55:33here's another one. Are we allowed to hold baby
- 55:36Kangaroos these days? Please let us know in the
- 55:38comments. Please let me know where I can
- 55:44Please let us know if we can and if we can, where.
- 55:47And I would like to remind everyone now in this moment that
- 55:59if you said you don't like sea creatures, but you didn't.
- 56:02You didn't say that. You said animals.
- 56:05So moving on. And it is ironic that this is
- 56:08happening before a scene where we are introduced to a very
- 56:11large snake by our host from the zoo carry.
- 56:14And it would be something for Robyn to say, I don't like
- 56:18snakes. I would go, OK, well, I mean,
- 56:19I'm not a fan. I don't necessarily want a big
- 56:25and there's a trained professional and this is what
- 56:27happens. I probably would do it because I
- 56:31someone did it before me kind of vibe.
- 56:33That would just make more sense to me.
- 56:35Not animals. But see, once again, we
- 56:37shouldn't get into hypotheticals to give Robyn any credit or
- 56:39anything. She already dug her grave.
- 56:41Let's kick her in there and throw the dirt on it.
- 56:43Yeah. I've held a Python before.
- 56:46It was at a nightclub, one in the cities here that's known for
- 56:53I held a large Python across my shoulders and felt like I was
- 56:59having a Britney Spears moment. It was glorious.
- 57:02I love that for you. That's amazing.
- 57:05We. See truly.
- 57:07And Meri is holding Little Truly with the snake kind of wrapped
- 57:18because she's so teensy, teensy cutesy.
- 57:20And I noticed that Truly has on a leash.
- 57:25She has on a backpack leash. No, truly.
- 57:29Was a leash child. She's wearing one of those
- 57:33little backpacks that has the leash attached to it.
- 57:36Oh my. Lanta, this is not surprising,
- 57:41But Oh my God, of course she has a leash on her.
- 57:46Oh no, Truly Scrumptious had a leash on her at the zoo.
- 57:50I'm glad you noticed that. I did not notice it.
- 57:53What stood out to me primarily was that with Meri holding Truly
- 57:59about how she was glad that Meri was doing this because it
- 58:02allowed Truly to be able to do this.
- 58:05And it stood out to me that this
- 58:10scary, terrible Meri and how she's so horrible as she's
- 58:15holding truly. And I don't think Meri is the
- 58:18one that put her on a leash. I I don't know.
- 58:19We don't know. No what you can't confirm or
- 58:22deny, but you know, her awful treatment of the children and
- 58:25she was so terrible. And here we get this another
- 58:27example. We see so many in the show of
- 58:29her actually being kind of great
- 58:33And no, it's not mutually exclusive.
- 58:35You can be an abusive person and
- 58:38meaningful relationships. I'm not trying to sound like an
- 58:40idiot, but it just seems like we
- 58:44that are not cringe in a negative way about Meri.
- 58:47So all the stories seem to be these stories, and I don't want
- 58:51to invalidate them, but I just
- 58:54listeners, especially people overseas and people that have
- 58:57never seen the show, that you're
- 58:59about how Meri's so terrible. But in the show we see a lot of
- 59:02examples of, in my opinion, that
- 59:05Yeah, it was cute because Christine was scared of the
- 59:09snake and did not want to go and
- 59:12So Meri took true lead so that
- 59:15And then after truly doing it,
- 59:21could go and do it too with Meri's help.
- 59:24So Meri encouraged Christine to go and touch the snake as well.
- 59:28So it was a good family moment
- 59:33of the children. You know, it was a touching, I,
- 59:37I don't even know if it was a touching moment.
- 59:39It just seemed like a very natural moment.
- 59:43If one person's not into doing
- 59:46help them do that and that should be the point of the
- 59:49Sister Wives. And as Christine is literally
- 59:52touching kind of shoulder to shoulder with Meri and the snake
- 59:56gets placed around Christine and
- 59:59head and the kids are coming up and petting the snake and
- 1:00:02doing all these things. And it totally felt of like a
- 1:00:04very. Organic familial moment.
- 1:00:08I agree with you. I just, I don't know why Meri
- 1:00:11gets painted with such a terrible broad brush all the
- 1:00:14time. I should say I don't know why.
- 1:00:16I do know why. And a voiceover from Meri here
- 1:00:18that I thought was something of note.
- 1:00:21She says that she thinks it's awesome to do things you're
- 1:00:24uncomfortable with just to say
- 1:00:28All right, Mayor, you know, I have this complicated
- 1:00:30relationship with Meri. I just give her so many shit
- 1:00:34stains. She drives me so crazy in this
- 1:00:36episode. She hits some fucking lows.
- 1:00:39And yet here in this moment, I'm
- 1:00:42cute and nice and I don't. Know then she says things like
- 1:00:45that and yeah you her on board
- 1:00:51Just for a bit. She doesn't let you stay on
- 1:00:53board for very long. She kicks you off the side.
- 1:00:56Janelle says that seeing Christine step up, she felt like
- 1:01:02it was her turn to step up and
- 1:01:07right? They all go to the camel exhibit
- 1:01:10and they're putting carrots between their teeth or lips,
- 1:01:14whatever, and they're feeding them to the camels and the
- 1:01:17camels come up and kiss them to get the carrot out of their
- 1:01:22mouth. And everyone is giggling and all
- 1:01:25the kids are doing it. The adults are doing it except
- 1:01:28for Robyn who's standing back grimacing, saying how disgusting
- 1:01:31it is. And everyone's laughing because
- 1:01:34they're saying the camels little
- 1:01:37And I thought it was funny. What I love about the transition
- 1:01:42from the snake to the camel is
- 1:01:46And so as Janelle, there's a voice over and then all of a
- 1:01:49sudden the footage starts and she says when it came time for
- 1:01:51kissing the camel and it's like out of nowhere, like, what the
- 1:01:55fuck? And she goes, I thought it was
- 1:01:57time for me to step up and do something here.
- 1:02:00I was inspired by Meri and it's like, OK, you're inspired by
- 1:02:03Meri. And Janelle does try to give
- 1:02:05Meri kudos when she can. And then they show this footage
- 1:02:09of Janelle with the baby carrot in her mouth and the camel
- 1:02:12eating it out. And then there's a moment where
- 1:02:14all the wives are on the couch, and Janelle's explaining the
- 1:02:16experience. And she says, you know, you sort
- 1:02:18of just fill the whiskers, barely touching your lips,
- 1:02:24gestures towards this brushing
- 1:02:28And they show Robyn and Robyn is
- 1:02:33reaction she's. Horrified, she is.
- 1:02:36She is jolting her head and her arms and making different
- 1:02:39shapes and acting as if it is the freakiest thing she's ever
- 1:02:42heard in her entire life. And I just thought, God, Robyn,
- 1:02:45you've never looked more beautiful.
- 1:02:47She looked like a fucking freak.
- 1:02:48Do you? Think she has OCD like she is a
- 1:02:53super clean person because I've never gotten that vibe before
- 1:02:58but they're hinting and alluding to the fact that she doesn't
- 1:03:01like animals because of the germs and she thinks it's icky
- 1:03:08Think she's got OCD tendencies because I highly doubt it, no.
- 1:03:16Like there is no other reason you would hate animals that much
- 1:03:22Well. She's certainly as far as the
- 1:03:24editors, you know, the editors didn't leave in anything if
- 1:03:28she's volunteered any terrible experience with animals.
- 1:03:30But I still I don't know that I even met anyone that just hates
- 1:03:34animals period across the board.
- 1:03:36That's pretty extreme. Anyone.
- 1:03:38That I have met that hates animals or hates dogs or cats.
- 1:03:45I just am naturally inclined to not converse with I I find
- 1:03:53something a little alarming about it.
- 1:03:56I think it's a big red flag and it gives me serial killer vibes
- 1:04:00for sure. We'll definitely.
- 1:04:01All animals. Because you know I'm going to be
- 1:04:03a little defensive here. You guys put on your therapist
- 1:04:06hats and analyze me. I'm not so into the pussy like I
- 1:04:10I just don't think cats are all that amazing.
- 1:04:12Now, I don't hate them. I will pet a cat that will not
- 1:04:16leave me alone because they want
- 1:04:18I'm not like a scared of their
- 1:04:20I'm not a scared of their germs.
- 1:04:22I you know, it's fine. I just, I'm like, I'm not a big
- 1:04:26fan, but even people that I've met, I don't I feel like most
- 1:04:29people I've met, it's like they don't care for a particular
- 1:04:31animal or something. Like to just say I don't like
- 1:04:35animals is so broad and extreme I don't know.
- 1:04:38I'm. Scared of certain animals, but
- 1:04:44dangerous. You know, monkeys are another
- 1:04:46one of the ones don't. I don't like them.
- 1:04:49I'm sorry. They can hurt you.
- 1:04:51They could rip your nose off. They have disfigured people
- 1:04:54before. I don't need to fuck with
- 1:04:56monkeys. They're smart.
- 1:04:58They're so smart. I don't need to fuck with them.
- 1:05:01They can do their thing, you
- 1:05:03know? Well, let's.
- 1:05:04Add monkeys to your list of biggest fears and then also on
- 1:05:07that list is people that don't
- 1:05:11Yeah, I do just find something
- 1:05:16comes out and says that. Yeah.
- 1:05:19Now, we're going to get a commercial break here soon, but
- 1:05:21right before the commercial, as a little teaser, we get a
- 1:05:24little moment with Ava, who was with them at the zoo, by the
- 1:05:27way. And we haven't mentioned Ava,
- 1:05:28but they don't really highlight her because it's really about
- 1:05:30the kids and the wives during these zoo moments.
- 1:05:32And as Ava's being interviewed about her experience with the
- 1:05:35wives, she says it has been a bit as she was expecting.
- 1:05:39There's some tension at times, which is awkward, and then
- 1:05:44there's some genuinely bonded moments.
- 1:05:46I'm like, OK, they just, you know, this show is just full of
- 1:05:52people you like and you want to know more about.
- 1:05:54I don't know what to say. You know, don't hate Ava, but I
- 1:05:58don't know. They're trying to tee up that
- 1:06:00she's got something to say. And I guess we're going to hear
- 1:06:02about it after a commercial break.
- 1:06:03After the zoo, the wives and kids and their lovely friend Ava
- 1:06:14The children all kind of run off and we get the wives sitting at
- 1:06:20the picnic table. There's a few children around
- 1:06:23for this, which is a tad alarming to me.
- 1:06:26We hear from Ava what she initially thought when she met
- 1:06:32wives before she even. Oh yes.
- 1:06:34Before she even met them, when Brett told her.
- 1:06:37And she says when Brett told me he had a friend that was a
- 1:06:43polygamist, At first I was like EW, gross.
- 1:06:46He must be some kind of pervert, some horrible person.
- 1:06:51And as soon as I met Kody, I realized he was so genuine and
- 1:07:09pervert or horrible person. I have to highlight this because
- 1:07:13it was a moment for me and it just warmed me up inside.
- 1:07:18They cut to the couch and Christine has a very high
- 1:07:22pitched Oh my gosh, I can't hit the note.
- 1:07:26I couldn't even try if I tried
- 1:07:30Would hurt. Myself, it was in a register.
- 1:07:33We won't hear again until she serenades us with her rendition
- 1:07:37of Let Me Call You Sweetheart,
- 1:07:40future. And I don't want to give too
- 1:07:41much away, but it was such a high pitch that I'm certain some
- 1:07:48listeners couldn't even hear it,
- 1:07:52And I was like, Oh my God, it sounds like Minnie Mouse, like a
- 1:07:55cartoon. It was insane, Robyn.
- 1:07:56Would have been pleased because I bet a bunch of dogs were
- 1:07:59screaming after she hit that pitch.
- 1:08:02I guess and. After Eva said.
- 1:08:06But as soon as I met Kody I could tell he was genuine and so
- 1:08:09sweet. They show Meri and she goes
- 1:08:11thanks. And I was like, Oh my God, yes,
- 1:08:15Meri. I noticed that there was a child
- 1:08:18at the table, yet a small child,
- 1:08:23playing, but one of the little
- 1:08:27And I just was thinking to myself, I can't believe that you
- 1:08:30just said out loud in front of
- 1:08:34thought he must be some kind of pervert.
- 1:08:38And Christine says when Ava said
- 1:08:44pedophile because he was a polygamist, I was like, EW,
- 1:08:49that's why we went public, so people would see that people
- 1:08:54who live plural marriage are just normal people.
- 1:08:59And I'm wondering where Ava ever said that he was a pedophile.
- 1:09:06He said she said pervert. And you're assuming that pervert
- 1:09:20contact with the woman next to him at the stoplight.
- 1:09:22That's a pervert to me. Just that, just that.
- 1:09:26I mean, a sexual deviant of some sort, right?
- 1:09:29Yeah. Yeah, I hear you.
- 1:09:31I. Can't believe that Christine
- 1:09:33said that. I can't believe that Ava said
- 1:09:36pervert. And then Christine following up
- 1:09:38with what she followed up with. I was shocked.
- 1:09:42Yeah. I, I just think it's a weird for
- 1:09:48And I it goes to say that that is where people's minds kind of
- 1:09:55go when it comes to meeting people of this faith.
- 1:09:59And so that's where Christine's mind automatically went when she
- 1:10:07going to think that they are pedos and marrying underage
- 1:10:12women, you know, because that's what they're out there to
- 1:10:16dispel. So she just jumped to that
- 1:10:18conclusion when I don't even think that's what Ava meant.
- 1:10:21Well, there was no implication from, well, no literal statement
- 1:10:28I happen to miss that comment from Christine, so I don't
- 1:10:32really well they. Gloss over it.
- 1:10:34They don't make a big deal about it.
- 1:10:36And that's another issue I have with them is that you're
- 1:10:40literally talking about this like it's nothing.
- 1:10:43And that's why we went public, so people don't think of that
- 1:10:48about us. And they just gloss over the
- 1:10:51whole issue of it yet again, Just weird.
- 1:10:56Weird all around. Weird for Ava to say that, weird
- 1:11:02And then we get even more pushback from Ava.
- 1:11:05They go back to the picnic table and Ava is asking the women.
- 1:11:11You guys seem to all have your alone spaces.
- 1:11:16Does Kody have that? She prefaces that by talking
- 1:11:20about how Kody looks like he's always so busy, but that the
- 1:11:24wives have their alone spaces, their individual spaces, and so
- 1:11:27she's wondering if Kody ever gets alone time.
- 1:11:30Which is when Janelle jokes about getting alone time in the
- 1:11:34shower and she cracks herself up, which I love.
- 1:11:37I love when Janelle says something.
- 1:11:38And is it so funny? I mean, like, yeah, I guess it's
- 1:11:44Like, ha ha. But she is busting up.
- 1:11:46Like, she just said the funniest shit she's ever heard.
- 1:11:48And I do always get a little kick out of when Janelle cracks
- 1:11:51herself up because it's like, OK, girl.
- 1:11:53Like here for it, I think, Yeah. Usually it's the moms that only
- 1:11:58get alone time in the shower, if that, because the kids will
- 1:12:03So yeah. Totally.
- 1:12:05And then Christine says, well, he takes 2 hours at the gym and
- 1:12:09I'm like, Oh my gosh, we've got Christine tracking Kody's time.
- 1:12:12And you know, it is, I guess I
- 1:12:15would assume a bit of a luxury
- 1:12:18two hours at the gym with children.
- 1:12:20I mean, I feel as if I'm going
- 1:12:24It is something I have to do. I have to plan my day around it
- 1:12:27and it is intentional. And it's almost like a, I don't
- 1:12:30want to say it's a gift to myself, but it's a thing that
- 1:12:32I'm electing to do that is intentional and I'm doing it and
- 1:12:35I don't give a fuck about anything else.
- 1:12:37I'm going to prioritize it. So I think a parent doing that
- 1:12:41is it has to be like a luxury,
- 1:12:44Yeah. For sure, I have no time to work
- 1:12:46out anymore and I would love to get back into kickboxing, which
- 1:12:50was something I enjoyed, but there's just no time for it, not
- 1:12:54with little kids. So two hours, that's a lot.
- 1:12:58Yeah, Well, you could have. Your 4 year old hold the bag as
- 1:13:01you're kicking the shit out of
- 1:13:03Yeah, yeah. Oh my gosh.
- 1:13:06Yeah, but that doesn't surprise me to hear about Kody, that he
- 1:13:09spends 2 hours in the gym on however many days of the week.
- 1:13:11That is because, you know, Kody's self-centered and he's a
- 1:13:15narcissist and he gets to, you
- 1:13:18top shape, whatever that means
- 1:13:20And Christine is taking note of it and sharing it with Ava and
- 1:13:24with us, the rest of the world.
- 1:13:26Yeah, and I'm doubting that he's at the gym for two hours.
- 1:13:29So he's doing something else as far as I'm concerned, because he
- 1:13:37And Janelle says the men in polygamy aren't just sitting
- 1:13:40around waiting to be served as if they're kings.
- 1:13:44And you know it. This is a weird topic because
- 1:13:48it's like we hear from multiple people that there is this kind
- 1:13:55But then when Janelle shares this information, it's almost
- 1:13:58like she's highlighting it to emphasize, to demonstrate that
- 1:14:04his wives and with his kids. He's not just sitting around.
- 1:14:06I think at one point they referenced him watching TV.
- 1:14:09He's not just watching TV unless he's with the kids.
- 1:14:12So I don't know where the reality lies in that with this
- 1:14:18But I also do think these women are probably trying to get him
- 1:14:23They're trying to flip the script here to make him look
- 1:14:26good and to flip the script on what people think about plural
- 1:14:39terminology that a lot of people don't use in their normal
- 1:14:44day-to-day conversations. And she does say the men have to
- 1:14:53they're busy going house to house and trying to fulfill
- 1:14:56everybody's needs. But at the same time, from what
- 1:14:59we've heard from most of the ex plagues that have had bad
- 1:15:03experiences. So this is, you know, colored
- 1:15:06from their lens, the dads are treated like kings and the women
- 1:15:12And so they do treat them like kings when they get there so
- 1:15:17that they get more of his attention.
- 1:15:19And I feel like we do see that with Kody.
- 1:15:25So I am so confused by this as well.
- 1:15:28And I feel like it's just a blatant fly, probably to try to
- 1:15:34make him look good. I don't know.
- 1:15:36And it's. Another example, I'm just having
- 1:15:42way that's like from her perspective or her life, and
- 1:15:46therefore we're all supposed to either surmise or it's supposed
- 1:15:49to be a blanket statement about their entire thing.
- 1:15:52In all reality, I would imagine that Janelle's house, Kody
- 1:15:56probably is not treated like a king.
- 1:15:58But I don't know that that's the case at Robyn's house, and I
- 1:16:01don't think it's the case at Christine's.
- 1:16:03I think at Christine's, it's very, there's sensitivity about
- 1:16:07making sure that everything's OK for Kody and he's here.
- 1:16:10And we've got to be, you know, and that probably just doesn't
- 1:16:15So then she gets to answer that and it's kind of this whole
- 1:16:18thing about the whole family, when really that's probably not
- 1:16:19what it's like for the other wives in.
- 1:16:21Christine's book, she does mention that if she was arguing
- 1:16:25with him, he would spend less time there or he'd be coming
- 1:16:29super late at night on his nights to be there and leaving
- 1:16:36with him and she knew it was because she wasn't keeping
- 1:16:40sweet. She was arguing with him.
- 1:16:42Something was going on. So you cannot tell me that he's
- 1:16:45not using his time manipulative manipulatively.
- 1:16:48At Meri's house, you know, that he was trying to just
- 1:16:53accommodate her. So I don't know that he feels
- 1:16:55like much of A king at Meri's house.
- 1:16:56That would be an interesting dynamic to see them alone more
- 1:17:02But when they film these things, they're going to have
- 1:17:04conversations. They're doing anniversaries,
- 1:17:05they're doing trips, they're doing something.
- 1:17:07We don't see a lot of them. I'm just jostling around and
- 1:17:11spending time together and I think there's something there
- 1:17:14that we don't know about or we don't get to witness, I bet.
- 1:17:17It's just awkward and weird and there's tension or something.
- 1:17:20Or Leon's always got to be there.
- 1:17:22Yeah. Like they're never alone without
- 1:17:26I bet that's true. I.
- 1:17:29Feel like Ava's whole point here is, you know, bringing up that
- 1:17:44dynamic that is very traditional.
- 1:17:47And they come out and say that a
- 1:17:52And I think them kind of Pooh poohing the man cave thing in
- 1:17:56front of her was shocking to her.
- 1:18:00And I think she's bringing this up to put it in their faces.
- 1:18:07Like don't you understand that a
- 1:18:11Right and. She's trying to stand up for
- 1:18:13Kody and treating the situation how she would treat it with her
- 1:18:18husband, and she doesn't get it.
- 1:18:21She seems kind of combative with them.
- 1:18:23It's a little weird. OK.
- 1:18:26Yeah, I wasn't necessarily picking up on that, but I also
- 1:18:35situation and her pointing this out.
- 1:18:37She was. Sitting on the tailgate during
- 1:18:43And they showed her face a few times, and it was judgy.
- 1:18:48Yeah. And she does ask another weird
- 1:18:54production. So it's hard to know if she
- 1:18:57really was thinking these things or maybe if her husband had been
- 1:19:03talk to the wives or because he seems like the type of man that
- 1:19:06would do that. But she brings up another weird
- 1:19:12question and she talks about how she's noticed that Kody
- 1:19:17doesn't show affection publicly to any of the wives.
- 1:19:22He doesn't, you know, hold hands or get close with the wives when
- 1:19:29And she straight up says, is he not allowed to show affection
- 1:19:33publicly? Well.
- 1:19:34And you know, the first part of her question was pointing out
- 1:19:37that Kody does seem more affectionate with only one wife.
- 1:19:44questioning as quite. So maybe in the same light that
- 1:19:49you're talking about. I think she was like, he seems
- 1:19:52more affectionate when he's with
- 1:19:56not allowed to show affection publicly?
- 1:19:58And when I heard publicly, I was
- 1:20:02around each other, not necessarily for the world or
- 1:20:05in public. But this line of questioning
- 1:20:08just seemed I couldn't put my thumb on it.
- 1:20:10I I don't really get it. I feel that she was teeing stuff
- 1:20:19she's trying to get to the bottom of things to help Kody
- 1:20:22out or to give them a push in a certain direction.
- 1:20:26It felt weird. And like I said, it could have
- 1:20:35ask questions like this to make sure there was a good or in
- 1:20:40depth conversation happening during this boring ass picnic.
- 1:20:57Yeah. And they are all Kody centric.
- 1:21:03other or their stuff with their kids.
- 1:21:05It's all about Kody for sure. Yeah.
- 1:21:08She ends her camera interview moment by saying that she
- 1:21:12doesn't get why it would bother them if Kody shows affection
- 1:21:18like to the other wives when she leaves it there.
- 1:21:23I just kind of think she's not a fan of the family.
- 1:21:29It just feels weird. I didn't.
- 1:21:32Necessarily pick up on those vibes but then again, it is Ava
- 1:21:36don't know Ava. I haven't really been introduced
- 1:21:47kids. Like Isabel comes over and it's
- 1:21:48like, do you want to put your feet in the water or some shit?
- 1:21:51And they fucking leave.
- 1:21:52And I'm like, OK, thank God. And then this ushers in another
- 1:21:56conversation, which is, see, this is what I don't know.
- 1:22:00And this is where I'm thinking
- 1:22:02There might be some production
- 1:22:04because we transition into this discussion that Janelle starts
- 1:22:09talking about the kids and the
- 1:22:13So this is where I'm going. I don't know about the whole Ava
- 1:22:16Kody driven thing that leads into this conversation.
- 1:22:19There's something disjointed here it.
- 1:22:21Is. Janelle talks to the wives about
- 1:22:23how they used to eat dinners together as a family two or
- 1:22:27three times a week and now they don't.
- 1:22:30And she mentions how they all work together now.
- 1:22:34So that's a different way of spending time together.
- 1:22:36But she finds herself thinking
- 1:22:40making a cross with her arms in front of her chest.
- 1:22:43Like I need my spare time ha ha ha.
- 1:22:45And as she does this Janelle and
- 1:22:47But I'm going how did this come up now?
- 1:22:49Like, it just we're missing something from this entire
- 1:22:53picnic scene, and I don't really
- 1:22:55Yeah. There's a question missing or
- 1:22:57something that led up to them having this little private
- 1:23:00conversation. And so Christine responds to
- 1:23:03Janelle by asking, do we want to
- 1:23:06with each other? And Meri goes, yes, let me get
- 1:23:10out my schedule and let's plan
- 1:23:12Can they all? Laugh, which I did think it was
- 1:23:14cute because I personally am not
- 1:23:17person. I I'm a planner.
- 1:23:20I am a producer. I'm a person that gets things
- 1:23:22done. And I need a plan and I need
- 1:23:24dates and I need times. And so I thought the joke was
- 1:23:27pretty funny to be like, yeah,
- 1:23:29spontaneous. I don't know that the goal was
- 1:23:31necessarily spontaneity. I think it was spending time
- 1:23:34together, period. It didn't need to be
- 1:23:36spontaneous, but you know how they do with this family rather
- 1:23:39than actually leaning into things, at least temporarily.
- 1:23:43But this specific moment, they're going to bring about
- 1:23:46humor, OK? Meri says that she just wants to
- 1:23:51stay at home and work on her projects.
- 1:23:54Yeah, she doesn't really want to
- 1:23:58While. Awkwardly giggling.
- 1:24:01OK, Meri. Yeah.
- 1:24:03You don't want to stay at home
- 1:24:05OK lady? Yeah.
- 1:24:08Listen, I hear her. I want to stay home and work on
- 1:24:11things alone myself, but I also am not married to a man that
- 1:24:14has three other spouses and there's seventeen children in
- 1:24:17the family. So yeah, whatever.
- 1:24:18Yeah. Now we do cut to an interview
- 1:24:22moment here with Meri, and I want to tee this up for everyone
- 1:24:24because it's kind of, it's a little telling that it's from
- 1:24:29the production lens. Meri's alone on a couch.
- 1:24:33There's dark shadows on the walls behind her.
- 1:24:36There's a dark vignette overlaid
- 1:24:40make things seem even more ominous or something.
- 1:24:43And they give her a pause. There's like this moment where
- 1:24:46before she starts talking, she's
- 1:24:48She's sitting there for a second
- 1:24:52heavy music starts playing in the background.
- 1:24:55And it's like, yes, we're going for this picnic moment.
- 1:24:58That's, oh, we're not going to
- 1:25:01I mean, we'll bring them up and we'll address them with humor.
- 1:25:04And then all of a sudden, Meri's
- 1:25:07the piano. Oh.
- 1:25:09My God. Yes, and then of course we get
- 1:25:12to hear Meri talking about Leon leaving for college and how her
- 1:25:17relationship with her sister wives is definitely a different
- 1:25:21one, she says. And then we go right back to the
- 1:25:25picnic table. She says that with her not
- 1:25:29having a young child, she is out
- 1:25:33Oh, yeah, you're putting yourself out of the loop.
- 1:25:38You're supposed to be another mother to these children.
- 1:25:43So you do still have young children, and you shouldn't be
- 1:25:46out of the loop. You should be participating in
- 1:25:49their lives as far as what we've
- 1:25:55family is supposed to work. But Honey Meri has all those
- 1:25:58projects that she needs to do alone in her big cavernous house
- 1:26:02she's making. PJS for everyone Yeah, so when
- 1:26:05she. Leaves her big, cavernous, empty
- 1:26:08home where she's got all these
- 1:26:11She's in a dark room with Vienna
- 1:26:14It's just like, OK, Oh my God.
- 1:26:17table, Robyn points out how Meri
- 1:26:22other three tend to interact more because of their kids and
- 1:26:25their children's schedules, which it was a coherent thought
- 1:26:28from Robyn. Yeah, that's a big deal.
- 1:26:31A big deal. We've got some back and forth
- 1:26:33between these women here, and it's not just two people.
- 1:26:36So I don't know how we're going to do these things back and
- 1:26:38forth, but oh, God. Christine asks.
- 1:26:43Meri, what do you want to have
- 1:26:45And Meri's like with what? With what?
- 1:26:49And Christine says with the kids
- 1:26:55Janelle has to kind of help Meri
- 1:26:58She's like, well, especially once Leon is gone, Meri's like,
- 1:27:03I don't know. And Robyn's like, do you want
- 1:27:07your space? Or do you want the kids around
- 1:27:11more? Fucking Robyn and.
- 1:27:15Meri says that she doesn't know what she wants, but she also
- 1:27:18doesn't want to force it, Like
- 1:27:24join her. So she's not alone.
- 1:27:27Why would it be forced? Why would it have to be forced?
- 1:27:30I don't understand why this is
- 1:27:34Oh, hey, we're going to have movie night at Meri's tonight.
- 1:27:36We're going to have popcorn in a
- 1:27:38girlies. Come on over.
- 1:27:40Oh, why don't you come on over.
- 1:27:41We'll have a nail Polish, paint our fingernails, toenails Night.
- 1:27:46Why does that have to be? Oh, we're forcing it.
- 1:27:49No, as a parent, you make decisions for your child.
- 1:27:54You call up a babysitter every
- 1:27:58do something. Why couldn't that just be
- 1:28:01natural for you guys? I don't understand this well.
- 1:28:04And she does reference the kids,
- 1:28:08So she's, you know, I feel like kind of making it up as she's
- 1:28:11answering the question. So she's trying to, I think in
- 1:28:15some way make it that it's not
- 1:28:18talking about the kids. So it's her having some bullshit
- 1:28:21response, you know, and I wonder
- 1:28:25with the, you know, Meri being
- 1:28:27along with Janelle and she just doesn't want to feel like she's
- 1:28:30forcing anything. And as the broken record that I
- 1:28:33can't get off of, it's like, we'll fucking pick a lane mare.
- 1:28:36Is it that, you know, you want
- 1:28:39want to be open, or is it that
- 1:28:41around and whatever? Like, you know, she's just, I'm
- 1:28:44not sure. I don't, I don't want anyone to,
- 1:28:47you know, feel forced. They're literally asking you
- 1:28:51right now. Your sister wives are giving you
- 1:28:53an opportunity to share your feelings and you're not
- 1:28:56actually, well, I shouldn't say share your feelings, but
- 1:28:58they're asking you what do you want to do with the kids and
- 1:29:01for your future. And she's like, I don't want to
- 1:29:03force anything on anyone. It's like you're not a fucking
- 1:29:06martyr, Meri, No. They're trying to be supportive
- 1:29:08and ask what you are going to need once Leon is gone, Robyn
- 1:29:13says. One of my favorite things she
- 1:29:15says this whole episode, Robyn
- 1:29:21I've heard of the whole empty nest syndrome or whatever that
- 1:29:24is. Empty nest syndrome or whatever
- 1:29:31that is. Like she's talking about
- 1:29:32postpartum depression or something.
- 1:29:35That is an actual diagnosis. She is such an.
- 1:29:40Idiot. Listen, I've heard the term
- 1:29:41empty nest syndrome. It's kind of a thing that people
- 1:29:44throw around. But yeah, I mean, is it a
- 1:29:45diagnosable? Is it an actual syndrome?
- 1:29:48No, you know, it's a phrase the.
- 1:29:50Way she's saying it and teeing it up, though, is with concern.
- 1:29:55Are you sad You can.
- 1:29:59I've heard of this thing and maybe you've got it.
- 1:30:03Oh my God. This woman is so dumb.
- 1:30:10She is so dumb. Also, let's not forget that
- 1:30:16these two are supposed to be close friends, right?
- 1:30:18Like of the Sister wives. It's like we kind of have this
- 1:30:21unofficial Janelle and Christine
- 1:30:25team and Robyn poses these questions as if she's got no
- 1:30:30idea and she's just concerned it's a new concern for her.
- 1:30:34It's. Like she has to think out all of
- 1:30:36her sentences and quips so far
- 1:30:43thinking about this and thinking
- 1:30:47oh, this is a perfect time for
- 1:30:50thinking, I should say. It's true like.
- 1:30:54She's not organically thinking
- 1:30:57She's got a tee up line because she can't think on the spot.
- 1:31:04Yeah, it feels. So weird and there.
- 1:31:06Are some moments coming up here that align with that even with
- 1:31:09her nonverbals in these couch moments with the sister wives
- 1:31:12where she seems almost like she's not listening, she's not
- 1:31:17engaged. She's just sitting there kind of
- 1:31:19like whatever during heartfelt
- 1:31:23wives. So it's almost like when she
- 1:31:25hears A keyword or there's a discussion and she's got her
- 1:31:28rolodex of responses that she's thought about over the last
- 1:31:31three weeks while having her once a month my sister wife's
- 1:31:34closet meeting and being so busy
- 1:31:37I mean no one knows what the fuck she does all day so she's
- 1:31:40got to figure out a few things
- 1:31:43inevitably come up that involve her family.
- 1:31:46Just bizarre She's. Thinking about stuff two weeks
- 1:31:49after the fact, she's taking a
- 1:31:53arguments in her head. And I'll say that next time I
- 1:31:56hear this topic come up, I'll put that in the Rolodex.
- 1:32:01She's. Hot off of Robyn's intellectual
- 1:32:07stimulation, we cue the dramatic
- 1:32:11Meri on the couch and she talks about memories of when the kids
- 1:32:15were younger and they spent time
- 1:32:21for that. I'm sorry, you guys, I forgot to
- 1:32:23include that the other sister wives are here on the couch with
- 1:32:25her. It's not just a solo moment.
- 1:32:27We've got all the wives on the
- 1:32:31going because Meri's always crying.
- 1:32:34And then I was like, oh, shit, I
- 1:32:36I'm always crying. So does it, You know, this is oh
- 1:32:39God, mayor. Oh God, Mayor, this.
- 1:32:41Is an intense one because she is
- 1:32:46heartfelt and sappy and all the otherwise are sitting there
- 1:32:51stone faced. Well, this is where Janelle is
- 1:32:58She picks a point somewhere offset.
- 1:33:00It's a person. It's craft services.
- 1:33:02I'm going to say it's craft services.
- 1:33:03Janelle is looking at the sandwiches over on the table.
- 1:33:06She's looking at the Cheetos in a bowl and she's like, I'm just
- 1:33:09going to stare at these Cheetos because I cannot engage.
- 1:33:12And then you've got Robyn looking like a 13 year old who's
- 1:33:18I wonder what bus I'm supposed to catch.
- 1:33:21I wonder if my jeans are going to fit tomorrow.
- 1:33:25Like she's so fucking stupid and she's just sitting there.
- 1:33:27She just looks like a fucking idiot.
- 1:33:29And then you've got Christine on the other side of Janelle
- 1:33:33looking at Meri, kind of looking concerned, looking at least
- 1:33:37engaged enough where she's fucking listening, trying to.
- 1:33:40Look like she's listening, nodding along.
- 1:33:42Yeah, yeah. She's she's sitting at the edge
- 1:33:45and crooked enough where you can't.
- 1:33:47I couldn't really see what she couldn't read.
- 1:33:49It, yeah, but. Janelle is staring off into
- 1:33:51space, Robyn looks like an idiot, and Christine is somewhat
- 1:34:00we've all had our ups and downs, but I'm so grateful for the
- 1:34:06relationship Leon has with you ladies.
- 1:34:08I'm so grateful for you being there raising Leon with me.
- 1:34:15Now, I'm being a little bit of an asshole here because as you
- 1:34:21She, I mean, she's in tears, she is crying.
- 1:34:24She's really kind of revealing, and I do.
- 1:34:28Think she's having a genuine moment.
- 1:34:30I think she is realizing Leon is leaving and she's reminiscing
- 1:34:35and sometimes when you get in your feels and you're having a
- 1:34:44And she's definitely having a, Oh my God, there's no coming
- 1:34:48back from this now I started it, the dam has opened moment.
- 1:34:51And layered on top of this, not only nostalgia, which is what
- 1:34:56Janelle actually says to her when Meri takes the breath and,
- 1:35:00you know, she's in a moment, and Janelle says there is a lot
- 1:35:05of nostalgia there of the kids being together and us being
- 1:35:09together. And for Meri in particular, she
- 1:35:12does only have one child. And Leon was one of the OG 5
- 1:35:17kids or whatever the label is that people would use online.
- 1:35:20I don't know. They were going through those
- 1:35:23hard times. They were growing family.
- 1:35:24I think they did live in the trailer with all these fucking
- 1:35:28It's referenced so many times that these kids had such a
- 1:35:31different experience than the younger ones.
- 1:35:32And so for Meri's only biological child to have been
- 1:35:36back in that time that all of the adults except for Robyn and
- 1:35:40the kids, all the kids look back on fondly.
- 1:35:44And that's going to all change for her.
- 1:35:48And she does talk more about her future coming up here.
- 1:35:50But I feel like that's even an extra layer.
- 1:35:52It's not like she's talking about one of the younger kids we
- 1:35:58it's like, you know, it's one of the original kids.
- 1:36:00And I don't know. Yeah.
- 1:36:03What does Meri say to Robyn? Oh.
- 1:36:05God, Meri tells Robyn. I'm sorry that you weren't there
- 1:36:17ceiling. And then when she comes back to
- 1:36:19the camera, it's like maybe she's a little glossy.
- 1:36:21Hard to tell. There's definitely no tears
- 1:36:24forming. It's very Robyn, you know.
- 1:36:27To me, I get the sentiment behind it.
- 1:36:31We're I'm sorry you weren't here to have like the close family.
- 1:36:40completely separate life. It's not that you're saying, oh,
- 1:36:49back and had to join us later or something.
- 1:36:51She wasn't even part of your life yet and she probably was
- 1:36:55underage at the time. So like to think she would be
- 1:37:00there with you at that time in your lives.
- 1:37:03She was probably. How old would she have been?
- 1:37:07I don't know. It's just.
- 1:37:09She was probably break dancing and they were filming here on
- 1:37:11that VHS recorder. She was doing her hot moves and
- 1:37:14her denim get up. You know, she was living her
- 1:37:17life. She was off having premarital
- 1:37:18sex, getting knocked up that little house.
- 1:37:21Yeah. And then Meri talks about how
- 1:37:24their family focus has always been on the kids and how Leon is
- 1:37:31going to be in the family moving forward there's.
- 1:37:33Only a few roles you can have in a family, and in a family like
- 1:37:44of the other children's lives. But I don't understand why that
- 1:37:49concept is so difficult for her to grasp, because it seems to be
- 1:37:55I think it's, I think that a sentence like I don't know what
- 1:38:00I wanted to be is much bigger than the edit gives it.
- 1:38:05It's like that was the wrap up of that and now we're going to
- 1:38:09said she doesn't know what she wants her role to be in this
- 1:38:12family of 17 children where she's supposed to be their
- 1:38:15mother and a wife and participant.
- 1:38:17So not hard to read between the lines there.
- 1:38:20Yeah, I think it's. More of a large life crisis at
- 1:38:28sight of the bigger picture, I guess is what I'm trying to say
- 1:38:33I. Suspect that none of the wives
- 1:38:38and inviting her like it. I don't get that vibe.
- 1:38:41No. And as we get from Sister Wives
- 1:38:45production, sometimes it makes me go, WTF, what the hell is
- 1:38:49going on? Upbeat, peppy music.
- 1:38:53It's like Meri was just crying on the couch having a near
- 1:39:00breakdown and all of a sudden it's sunshine and beautiful and
- 1:39:04everything's great. Like, OK, it's almost comical.
- 1:39:16Stratosphere? I don't.
- 1:39:17Think so. I don't think that I went when
- 1:39:21Not been, but I would love to say that I'd love to go, but I
- 1:39:26I don't. Really either.
- 1:39:27I'm not one of those people that needs to see things from high up
- 1:39:36crazy view like that. I don't know, Kody.
- 1:39:40Says, you know, the stratosphere is like 1,000,000 feet tall,
- 1:39:43right? And we're going to jump off of
- 1:39:48because he's fucking Kody. And we get an immediate cut to
- 1:39:54when you jump out of an airplane and they're at the top of the
- 1:39:57tower. I don't know.
- 1:39:58Do you know if these suits have a name or what they're called?
- 1:40:06free falling. That's called a squirrel suit.
- 1:40:10Suits and. Things, yeah, I don't think they
- 1:40:16Probably more protective gear. Keep them warm on their drop
- 1:40:21down my. Boyfriend Brett gets bondaged up
- 1:40:29going to be thrown off a building.
- 1:40:30I don't really know what that's called.
- 1:40:32Kody points out that Brett doesn't look scared at all.
- 1:40:36He talks about needing to keep up with the other guys.
- 1:40:39His, you know, thing. And I always enjoy when Kody's
- 1:40:45I'm like, oh, Kody. Oh, Kody.
- 1:40:49He talks about how Brett isn't fazed, he's not even breaking a
- 1:40:56sweat and Kody's over there. But everything's cool.
- 1:41:00Everything's cool. And then threat.
- 1:41:04He dives off. He's Superman's, Kody calls it.
- 1:41:09And really, I mean, Brett did
- 1:41:11leap off, but Kody refers to it as Superman dive.
- 1:41:15It's not a dive. He just jumps off.
- 1:41:17Like it's ridiculous. Kody's got to make every man
- 1:41:19sound so amazing and he's just
- 1:41:23to actually be more manly. And it's like, Oh my God.
- 1:41:26And Sean jumps off next, and Kody says that Sean looks pale
- 1:41:32and as quiet as he approaches the edge.
- 1:41:34And I'm thinking about if I was in that experience, I don't
- 1:41:38really like jumping off of high things, personally.
- 1:41:41I probably could look a little
- 1:41:45definitely be quiet. So, you know, I think I would do
- 1:41:48it personally. I would do it.
- 1:41:49I would be like, people do this all the time.
- 1:41:51I'm going to go for it. It's fine.
- 1:41:53But I would be freaking the fuck
- 1:41:55I don't know. I wouldn't.
- 1:41:56Do it. I.
- 1:41:57Wouldn't do it. I am not a fan of heights and I
- 1:42:01found that out the hard way when
- 1:42:06husband and I went and did one of those treetop zip line
- 1:42:10tours and we were in the trees for hours on top of these tiny
- 1:42:15things that were shaking and waving in the wind.
- 1:42:18And I was hungover as shit. So I was trying not to puke and
- 1:42:22I didn't know I was scared of heights until we got up there.
- 1:42:26And Nope, not for me, not for me.
- 1:42:29Oh my. God yeah, the hangover would
- 1:42:32definitely take it to a whole another, I found.
- 1:42:34Out the hard way, yeah. But Sean jumps off and as he's
- 1:42:38hurling down through the sky, he
- 1:42:41And I was like, OK, so he's actually enjoying it while he's
- 1:42:44doing it, but to a certain extent.
- 1:42:48And Kody says if I do a Pike, I beat them both, right?
- 1:42:51I need validation, man. It's like, yeah, no kidding.
- 1:42:55You need validation. That's all.
- 1:42:58You definitely need validation.
- 1:42:59You definitely need to he. Literally says that, yeah, Chris
- 1:43:05And he says that he gets talkative when he's nervous, so
- 1:43:09you can tell he's nervous right now.
- 1:43:11Yeah, yeah. Sean and Brett are down below
- 1:43:16and they yell up dude. They yell up at Kody.
- 1:43:21Yeah, Kody says he was nervous, of course, and feeling
- 1:43:24lightheaded, which I love that he volunteered that information
- 1:43:26because I'm going, yes, I'm glad Kody was so uncomfortable.
- 1:43:29But then we get to see Kody
- 1:43:31getting bondaged in, and I wasn't nearly as turned on as
- 1:43:34when I saw Brett getting bondaged in, but whatever.
- 1:43:37Kody jumps off and we get to see
- 1:43:40he's woohooing, laughing and yeah, the guy's.
- 1:43:47Dumbledore who? Who?
- 1:43:50And I had the closed captioning on and it said hooting,
- 1:43:54hooting, hooting. Hooting.
- 1:43:58That's awesome. Yeah, so good.
- 1:44:03After Kody Lancey says I did a
- 1:44:07God, Why he's so obnoxious, I don't even know.
- 1:44:11What a Pike is like. What is he talking about?
- 1:44:14What is it I? Think a Pike is the like in
- 1:44:17diving. It's when you dive, jump off the
- 1:44:19end of the diving board and you take your feet and your hands
- 1:44:23to each other and then go into a
- 1:44:25Oh, yeah. You know when your body makes
- 1:44:27like a hinge and then you go down and I'm going.
- 1:44:29I don't know, Kody, I think you're giving yourself a lot of
- 1:44:31credit here. I didn't see a pipe.
- 1:44:32I don't. Think anyone saw that but OK
- 1:44:35keep. Telling.
- 1:44:37Yourself, you did that. He tells us he was more afraid
- 1:44:41of being shown up by Brett and
- 1:44:44And it's like, yeah, you don't
- 1:44:46I'm pretty sure it's true, Brett.
- 1:44:48Goes let's call it peer power,
- 1:44:53These fucking. Guys, lame.
- 1:44:56This made me think, I really do want to go parasailing at some
- 1:45:01point. And I was wondering, you've
- 1:45:03spent time in Mexico. I have not.
- 1:45:06You used to live in California, and that's a parasailing Mecca
- 1:45:08in the United States. Have you gone parasailing?
- 1:45:11I. Have not that is 1.
- 1:45:14Thing I might do because you're strapped to another person and
- 1:45:17you're on the water. I don't know what could really
- 1:45:20go wrong. And I say that and now I'm
- 1:45:22thinking about it and I think I have heard of deaths happening
- 1:45:25that way. So yes, things can definitely go
- 1:45:28wrong. Well.
- 1:45:29I saw it recently on another show where I thought, Oh my
- 1:45:31gosh, that may be one of those
- 1:45:35do. I don't want to jump out of an
- 1:45:37airplane. I don't want to jump off of the
- 1:45:38top of this fucking building. But parasailing, I was having a
- 1:45:43similar thought where I'm going,
- 1:45:45and what you fall in the water like, I don't know, I'm a OK
- 1:45:48swimmer. I think I would be maybe OK.
- 1:45:50I think the impact is the worst part.
- 1:45:52But you know, maybe it'd be all right, I think.
- 1:45:55You're strapped into a device and you're strapped onto this
- 1:45:58giant thing that you probably can't get out of, and you're
- 1:46:01stuck underwater. With the thing, potentially,
- 1:46:03yeah. With your straps and everything
- 1:46:06and you're strapped to another person, that's the weighing
- 1:46:08you're down. This it could be a.
- 1:46:11Torturous death. I'm just saying.
- 1:46:12And. Then the sail falls on top of
- 1:46:15you and it's. Pulling you to the ocean floor.
- 1:46:18Yeah.
- 1:46:18OK. So maybe it's got.
- 1:46:19Metal on my. Assumptions are Ron, the story
- 1:46:22that I did hear after I made this decision, I thought, you
- 1:46:25know, this would be an adventurous thing.
- 1:46:27I'm also thinking about, you know, this hypothetical man, my
- 1:46:29personal Brett in the future, yes, we're going parasailing on
- 1:46:33our first trip and I'm going, God, look at me, I'm so
- 1:46:35adventurous and whatever. And then I heard a story from
- 1:46:39another show where someone was
- 1:46:43came in. So when I Googled it, the thing
- 1:46:45you have to look out for is upcoming weather, right?
- 1:46:47Winds and storms and they can kind of come out of nowhere on
- 1:46:50the coast. So, and apparently this woman
- 1:46:53was living in California and witnessed where a storm came in
- 1:46:58and there was a break in the bungee or the whatever.
- 1:47:00And the woman flew, flew, flew
- 1:47:06top of a building And it took like emergency crews to get her
- 1:47:11off of the top of a building. Don't know if she lived or not.
- 1:47:14And then I was like, oh God, OK,
- 1:47:18bad outcomes. And now I'm questioning the
- 1:47:21whole thing. But I still would fucking do it.
- 1:47:23I totally would do it. I feel like I would.
- 1:47:25So I, my future husband, if you're listening to this
- 1:47:28podcast, please take me parasailing.
- 1:47:30It's I'm willing to risk my life
- 1:47:32Yeah. I am at a point in my life,
- 1:47:36especially after having children, where I just don't
- 1:47:38care to put myself in harm's way.
- 1:47:41There's really no purpose anymore.
- 1:47:43I got my jollies off when I was younger doing crazy shit.
- 1:47:48Don't necessarily need to do it anymore.
- 1:47:51I don't know, I was going to. Say like, what is your risky
- 1:47:53behavior these days? And I'm literally thinking like
- 1:47:56driving home from work. Oh my God, my drive to and from
- 1:48:00work is treacherous. 45 minutes each way.
- 1:48:05Dave and I do at the State Fair.
- 1:48:08We do the one really crazy ride that like flips you upside down
- 1:48:13and you like go up really high and it's like a giant arm that's
- 1:48:22I do love a good roller coaster. I love an amusement park,
- 1:48:27something like that. I still do, but.
- 1:48:30Now the boys go to the revolving restaurant at the top of the
- 1:48:34tower at this place, whatever it's called.
- 1:48:37Stratosphere thank. You the stratosphere and Sean
- 1:48:40says sometimes he looks at Kody and wonders what wife is in his
- 1:48:46head. Yes, I thought.
- 1:48:48This was quite a weird kind of thing to bring.
- 1:48:52I mean, I don't know, maybe it's not weird, but I don't know.
- 1:48:55I thought it was weird it. Made sense when they started
- 1:48:59talking about it because Kody has a little bit of a different
- 1:49:03personality with each wife and he's worried about different
- 1:49:06things when he's with each wife. So he's maybe in his head having
- 1:49:15just went through with one wife.
- 1:49:17And so he's speaking to his friends a different way based
- 1:49:20off the last person he was with.
- 1:49:22Maybe because they do cut to the wives kind of talking about this
- 1:49:28You know, he's different with each of us.
- 1:49:30And I can tell when he comes from so and so's house, what
- 1:49:35he's been worried about there and what he's been dealing with
- 1:49:38there based on what he's focused on here when he gets
- 1:49:41here. So I can kind of see that.
- 1:49:44I think I act differently around
- 1:49:48different person, but we all have different ways we act
- 1:49:53around different people in our
- 1:49:54So I can see where one of your
- 1:50:00those different sides of you and
- 1:50:03Actually have to give a little
- 1:50:05production company, Puddle Monkey, and because this is
- 1:50:08actually a good segue, I mean for Sean, even though I was
- 1:50:12wondering where the fuck is this
- 1:50:14It does lead us into these wives
- 1:50:16And then Christine says that and
- 1:50:20into the house and he's concerned about XY or Z, she
- 1:50:24knows exactly who he's been talking to.
- 1:50:27So not only is there a difference, but I know who you
- 1:50:30were talking to based on what you're bringing up.
- 1:50:32And I'm going, oh, my God, it's so true.
- 1:50:35Like, even if you're not married
- 1:50:38whatever, of course, like if I
- 1:50:41started talking about something,
- 1:50:44he was dealing with this or talking to that person.
- 1:50:46Like, yeah. All right.
- 1:50:49And back at the restaurant, Brett says at the beginning of
- 1:50:51their relationship, Ava told him
- 1:50:55So I guess this is his, you know, preface to let us know
- 1:50:57that he too is a feminist part
- 1:51:00And so once again, my boyfriend comes through.
- 1:51:04But then he says if we have a disagreement, she would allow
- 1:51:08him to make the decisions. And that that has saved us so
- 1:51:13many times in air quotes is what
- 1:51:16Now this is where I feel like I have to ask you, what does this
- 1:51:21really mean and how should I feel about it?
- 1:51:24He. Says that she told him early on
- 1:51:29that if they were ever having a disagreement, she would trust
- 1:51:33him to make the right decision.
- 1:51:36So she would let him take over and be the, you know, put lay
- 1:51:42the hammer down and make the decision regardless of what
- 1:51:46they're arguing about. She would trust him to do that.
- 1:51:52Relationship dynamics are so
- 1:51:55interesting because obviously they have a very traditional
- 1:52:03relationship and this is what I was getting at earlier with her
- 1:52:07leading questions. I felt like she was asking
- 1:52:11leading questions from her lens of their traditional marriage.
- 1:52:18And they kind of joke about how well, they don't kind of joke
- 1:52:23about it. They flat out joke about it,
- 1:52:26about how, you know, Brett gets to lead and Kody, do you ever
- 1:52:31get to lead? Do you ever get to be in charge?
- 1:52:33And they're joking about at the beginning of the episode with
- 1:52:36the garages and you've got 4 garages and you can't even have
- 1:52:40one. And then you got his wife teeing
- 1:52:43up questions to the wives, kind of leading them to be like,
- 1:52:50well, does he have his own space
- 1:52:54What about this affection between all of you?
- 1:52:58And then when we get to this part of the episode and they're
- 1:53:02talking and basically making fun
- 1:53:07kind of making fun of him, poking fun of him and saying his
- 1:53:11wife's pushed him around and that he just gets browbeat into
- 1:53:15making a decision because he gets tired of arguing with them.
- 1:53:21I feel like him and his wife had
- 1:53:28I can see more of your perspective as we're going
- 1:53:31through the episode and connecting those dots.
- 1:53:34I can see that. I can see that, you know, it's
- 1:53:37not helpful as a viewer. Well, especially one that's a
- 1:53:40leader of the manosphere that Sean, you know, piles on or adds
- 1:53:46in that he, you know, and his wife compromise a lot.
- 1:53:49So he starts with that. We compromise a lot.
- 1:53:52But when there isn't a compromise that we can make, I
- 1:53:55take the lead. So you have two men here saying
- 1:54:00similar enough things where, you
- 1:54:04You know, we compromise. But when it comes, when push
- 1:54:07comes to shove, I make the call.
- 1:54:09And I don't know what to say about this because I am
- 1:54:13certainly not in a traditional marriage.
- 1:54:15I'm not ever in a relationship with a female and I'm a male.
- 1:54:20I don't know how these things are actually determined in
- 1:54:23relationships. The example that I have is my
- 1:54:25mom and dad, and my dad makes the decisions because my mom was
- 1:54:30parents to being taken care of by her husband.
- 1:54:32So not a good example. She just falls into line whether
- 1:54:41like to actually see a man and a woman in a situation where they
- 1:54:45can't find a compromise, they can't decide.
- 1:54:48Then what do you do? For example, what do you do,
- 1:54:52Kimber? Do you say whatever you say,
- 1:54:54hubby? Men have such fragile egos, and
- 1:54:57as soon as you do anything that threatens Emil's ego, that is
- 1:55:04game over. And that's what they're doing to
- 1:55:10defensive. Now in my relationship, tons of
- 1:55:14compromise. We decide stuff equally and we
- 1:55:25and conquer. And there are things that I
- 1:55:27defer to him for and things he defers to me for.
- 1:55:30And if we've ever had an argument about something, we
- 1:55:34compromise on it. These guys are just having a
- 1:55:39Dick swinging contest during this conversation and their egos
- 1:55:51It's outrageous. And as soon as this ego contest
- 1:55:57starts, Kody gets defensive and he turns into a bumbling idiot.
- 1:56:04And it's embarrassing. He says, I guarantee I'm in
- 1:56:08charge, but it's because of my
- 1:56:15Because we all know how women are viewed in your church versus
- 1:56:21how men are viewed and that you're the prophet of the family
- 1:56:24and you get to spread the word
- 1:56:28So yeah, sure. It's not because of your
- 1:56:31anatomy. Sure.
- 1:56:34And he kind of bumbles around and says like a few different
- 1:56:37things and then says again, everyone knows I'm in charge.
- 1:56:41And just him coming out and saying those statements is so
- 1:56:45yucky. At one point when he's going
- 1:56:48through his paragraphs of nonsense, Brett asks him, Do you
- 1:56:53ever get the ultimate say? And Kody responds by saying, you
- 1:56:57guys know I'm an alpha male, but
- 1:57:01chill. And this is the thing about
- 1:57:04Kody. He's such a showboat.
- 1:57:05And he's also not even, I don't want to say he's not aware he
- 1:57:09thinks he's an alpha male. Do I think in a bunch of men
- 1:57:13he's the alpha male? Of course not.
- 1:57:14Like he's an attention seeker and he'll just say what he needs
- 1:57:19the opinion of these men than jumping off of a fucking high
- 1:57:22rise building. Like he volunteers that like he
- 1:57:25gives himself away and so learning to chill is an
- 1:57:28interesting thing for him to say.
- 1:57:29But then they transition to a couch moment with Kody where he
- 1:57:33says everyone knows I'm in charge of my family, but I have
- 1:57:37to do it subtly. I can't just go around with
- 1:57:40strong women and boss them around.
- 1:57:42OK, he's maybe trying to give us an insight into how he manages
- 1:57:49anything to actually learn from this or garner from it?
- 1:57:53No, he shares a story about how at one point he got a job in
- 1:57:57Utah and he was like, we need to move to Utah.
- 1:58:00This was back when the family lived in Montana when they were
- 1:58:02a young family. And he told Janelle that they
- 1:58:05were moving because he got this job, which, OK, we've gone into
- 1:58:08this before, but you don't probably move the family for a
- 1:58:13where Janelle's job is. I would guess because Janelle
- 1:58:16was probably the breadwinner and the, the, the consistent income
- 1:58:21and Janelle says, no, she wasn't going to move.
- 1:58:24And she just put her, she planted her feet and said no.
- 1:58:27And she does volunteer in a couch moment that she was
- 1:58:30adamant about not moving and kind of talking about how it's
- 1:58:35And so she was not going to do it.
- 1:58:37And, you know, I don't know how much weight to put in that.
- 1:58:40I kind of find it a little bit of an unsavory quality when
- 1:58:44people are adamantly opposed to things because someone's telling
- 1:58:55hard time with borders with that's.
- 1:58:56Ego sticking your feet in and not changing your mind just
- 1:59:00because of your ego yet again, as opposed to making the best
- 1:59:03decision based on the facts in front of you.
- 1:59:07And I think she's lying yet again here.
- 1:59:10I think that they were at a point in their family and their
- 1:59:14marriage where it wasn't great. And I think that this was
- 1:59:17probably just the straw that broke the camel's back, the fly
- 1:59:20on the camel's hump. Yes, yes.
- 1:59:23Yeah, I don't think that it was really about her digging her
- 1:59:28feet in. I don't believe that for a
- 1:59:30second. I.
- 1:59:31Think you're right maybe who knows about Kody's and her
- 1:59:34relationship at that time. Maybe it wasn't going so great,
- 1:59:36but we know it was not going great with Meri.
- 1:59:39And so she probably just had enough of the bullshit and was
- 1:59:44And that it might have actually been an out for her in the sense
- 1:59:48I. Think it was she even said that
- 1:59:51she was willing to stay there and that she knows of Polly
- 1:59:54family that live in different areas and that they've made it
- 2:00:01is, he has to tell the guys in this Dick swinging competition
- 2:00:09through example. So he decided to move and he
- 2:00:12just did his thing. And that Chanel of course
- 2:00:15followed after realizing she missed him.
- 2:00:17She does acquiesce in the sense of her story.
- 2:00:20She says she missed Kody and that's why she ended up moving
- 2:00:25I think it was more religion based probably.
- 2:00:27It was probably the sin of it all, the fact that she might go
- 2:00:31to hell and all of the other reasons, but OK.
- 2:00:35Having their children in different states must have been.
- 2:00:41mom and we're supposed to believe that she's whatever,
- 2:00:44there had to be an element of the kids being separated that
- 2:00:46was not good to witness. And you know, as a mother, you
- 2:00:50wouldn't want your kids to not
- 2:00:53apparently are. Yeah, you.
- 2:00:54Don't want to be the one that splits up the family.
- 2:00:58They probably guilted her or some shit too, you know?
- 2:01:01Totally. Totally.
- 2:01:04We get a couch moment with Kody by himself where he talks about
- 2:01:06if he wasn't in charge, that means a wife is in charge and
- 2:01:11there can't be one wife in charge.
- 2:01:14She. Says if I'm not in charge, then
- 2:01:17one of my other wives is in charge.
- 2:01:19I can't have a wife being in charge of my other wives.
- 2:01:24Never dangerous. That's a dangerous thing,
- 2:01:30because then one of them's going
- 2:01:33others. And I don't think he's wrong
- 2:01:36there, no. I don't think he's wrong either.
- 2:01:38Think that as animals, we inherently look to somebody for
- 2:01:44a leadership role. Whether you want to say, oh,
- 2:01:48we're even when it comes to some
- 2:01:52this, when you get to a family
- 2:01:56look for somebody to lead it, right?
- 2:01:58Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:02:00What stood out to me in this moment was thinking about the
- 2:02:03future. And I know we try not to talk
- 2:02:06too much about what happens in
- 2:02:09the future. And friendly reminder for anyone
- 2:02:11who hasn't been through this whole journey with us, I've
- 2:02:14watched the show before, but you're watching most of these
- 2:02:19episodes for the first time at
- 2:02:21Yeah. I haven't seen any of these yet.
- 2:02:23So that's another element of like, I try not to give too much
- 2:02:27away, but then also for people
- 2:02:29you, what eventually does kind
- 2:02:34interpretation? You know, this isn't law.
- 2:02:36This is in fact, and I am only a
- 2:02:39But really, Robyn kind of becomes the head wife through
- 2:02:45manipulation of Kody. They're both weak minded or
- 2:02:49they're both idiots or they're
- 2:02:51strong minded and they're both
- 2:02:52Who knows? We don't.
- 2:02:53It's hard to put the finger on, but Robyn manipulates Kody to
- 2:02:58being the wife who makes decisions.
- 2:03:01She's the neck that turns the head, as the old saying goes.
- 2:03:05And so that's pretty much why their family ends up falling
- 2:03:09apart is because he's convinced that he's a leader and he's
- 2:03:14making all these decisions, when
- 2:03:17the decisions that another wife is probably making up in that.
- 2:03:22Was going to be the point that I
- 2:03:25said and done, a lot of these men that think they're making
- 2:03:29these decisions, their wife is the one behind the scenes
- 2:03:33pulling the strings. And there is something called
- 2:03:39motivational interviewing where you can ask the right questions
- 2:03:44and get somebody to come to a conclusion.
- 2:03:46And I think that a lot of women do it without knowing they're
- 2:03:49doing it. And Oh well, I guess if you
- 2:03:53don't cut the grass today, then if you have to cut it on
- 2:03:59Sunday, then you might not be able to watch the football
- 2:04:04game. I guess it's up to you, though,
- 2:04:07leading things like that that end up getting you what you
- 2:04:11want. Women are good at that.
- 2:04:14And that's what Robyn ends up doing with him.
- 2:04:18And so I think that's kind of what's been happening all along
- 2:04:22a little bit from each wife. They each have their little
- 2:04:25manipulation tactic to get what they need to out of him.
- 2:04:27And he thinks he's the one in charge.
- 2:04:29But I don't really believe that. And for?
- 2:04:33Some reason Kody just really is into her, which I think most of
- 2:04:38us are going how and why and what, but he definitely buys
- 2:04:44into her avenue of that approach more than anybody else's.
- 2:04:48But we don't need to give away any details or anything.
- 2:04:51And I'm sorry if I blew my load prematurely for anybody, I
- 2:04:53wouldn't want to do that. I just think it's funny that
- 2:04:57Kody's all about how he's such a decision maker and he's a leader
- 2:05:04It's so obvious. When the Dargers were visiting,
- 2:05:07there was that whole thing about how it's like the Brown
- 2:05:09family chaos and Kody can't do anything.
- 2:05:11And it's like, I'm not saying that the way that Joe Darger
- 2:05:14runs his family is appropriate, but Kody clearly is not the
- 2:05:17actual leader of his family. He's the Homer Simpson of the
- 2:05:21fucking family. He's kind of a boob just
- 2:05:24floating around and. Sean and Brett are razzing him
- 2:05:29actually. I think Sean kind of took a
- 2:05:31backseat. I think he's a smart man.
- 2:05:33I think he's probably more progressive.
- 2:05:34And he did take a backseat. But Brett is for sugar razzing
- 2:05:41questions that are alluding to the fact that you ladies need to
- 2:05:54I think Sean is at a boys table. He's a boy.
- 2:05:58He's saying, yeah, my wife and I are equal.
- 2:06:01But you know, when push comes to shove, I make the decision, OK.
- 2:06:04I mean, I think a lot of people
- 2:06:06would probably say that about their relationships.
- 2:06:08It doesn't. It doesn't have the same vibe
- 2:06:10and Ness as fucking Brett. Brett is definitely doing that.
- 2:06:16Kody asks Brett if he would come
- 2:06:19commitment ceremony. And Brett says that he would fly
- 2:06:22in for it and then fly out. And then they laugh.
- 2:06:24And at first I was like, why are
- 2:06:29Like, what did I miss? Like what's happening?
- 2:06:30But luckily we get right into it
- 2:06:33don't get into this, I'm going to go, are you fucking kidding
- 2:06:35me? Like, I don't need to question
- 2:06:38Thank God they give us the answer right away.
- 2:06:41We get these moments with Kody and Brett hearing more about
- 2:06:44their history and things that have happened and Kody tells us
- 2:06:47that he and Brett got into an antagonistic argument and a
- 2:06:51disagreement years ago about Joseph Smith and they didn't
- 2:06:55speak for five years after that. This aligns with what we knew
- 2:07:01about Brett leaving the faith and being a non religious
- 2:07:05person. And I would have loved to have
- 2:07:15following his parents ego driven, bringing wives in.
- 2:07:17Yeah, I get to be the star of every scenario.
- 2:07:20Meanwhile, his supposed stellar star aligned boyfriend what did
- 2:07:25what would they called this cosmic?
- 2:07:28Brother or something? Oh yeah, cosmic.
- 2:07:30Brother, Yeah, God is going. By the way, this is all hocus
- 2:07:34pocus, and the path that you're taking is literally the craziest
- 2:07:44Yeah, I'm a little confused by the timeline of this because
- 2:07:49then we find out that Brett got a wedding invite from Kody and
- 2:08:01come. Kody says that when Brett left
- 2:08:10whole day because he had had this falling out with him and he
- 2:08:27I I don't know that Kody specifically said that he he
- 2:08:31says something along the lines of, you know, I invited Brett to
- 2:08:39Maybe it's because he's not part of the faith.
- 2:08:42So he didn't get to go to the actual ceremony, of course.
- 2:08:44And then he says, I missed Brett terribly.
- 2:08:47It's my wedding day and Brett says that they have to take off
- 2:08:51and it was nice to see you when they're leaving.
- 2:08:53And it was the only time I felt loneliness that entire day of my
- 2:09:00And then there was this long pause and Kody's eyes are welled
- 2:09:10And he looks to the side and he looks down, and then he gestures
- 2:09:17And I'm, you know, obviously as a dedicated member of the
- 2:09:22manosphere, I felt for Kody in this moment.
- 2:09:25Oh, my God, I hate when I feel for Kody.
- 2:09:28But he was emotional sharing the story.
- 2:09:30And he was, he was on the verge of tears and didn't want to talk
- 2:09:37intergalactic planetary boyfriend status.
- 2:09:40You know, people have cracked jokes online about how, you
- 2:09:44know, did Brett and Kody have a fling when they were on a
- 2:09:47mission? Was there something else with
- 2:09:50their relationship? Why is he so into this fucking
- 2:09:58And what does this all mean? I don't think that that
- 2:10:01happened, but whatever. Because, you know, my Brett
- 2:10:03would never sleep with another man before me.
- 2:10:05Never. But.
- 2:10:06Kody is really emotional talking about Brett being at his wedding
- 2:10:13lonely moment he had in the whole day.
- 2:10:15And I, I didn't. My take away wasn't necessarily
- 2:10:18that that was the first time they had seen each other.
- 2:10:20Maybe it was, but that wasn't my
- 2:10:23I see this is where the show sucks at setting us up for
- 2:10:27understanding things because I I
- 2:10:30first time and that he got the wedding invite from Kody and
- 2:10:35it was Kody like reaching out like trying to say like, hey,
- 2:10:38I have this event coming up. I'd love to connect with you
- 2:10:42again. So for me, I read it as that was
- 2:10:45the first time that they had seen each other in five years.
- 2:10:49And so it was emotional for him because they reconnected that
- 2:10:55day and then it was like he had to leave that same day and.
- 2:10:59And then Brett was like peace out, which is the tie in from
- 2:11:03when Brett was making this joke about, yeah, I'd come in and
- 2:11:06fly out and there's something disjointed about it all.
- 2:11:09And you're right, I would blame production because it is
- 2:11:13unclear. We had different perceptions
- 2:11:16from watching the same scene that it's just, it's hard to
- 2:11:21nail down. And I also don't know that it's
- 2:11:23really, I don't know. My take away from it is that
- 2:11:27it's not so important because my
- 2:11:31Kody is literally talking about it in the future and getting
- 2:11:33emotional. It made a huge impact for him on
- 2:11:37a wedding day and I don't know
- 2:11:42Layered on top of the confusion about the date and and how long
- 2:11:45they hadn't seen each other and everything is that Brett came
- 2:11:48in and came out and I was making a joke about doing that again
- 2:11:51and they're laughing while Kody's crying, talking about
- 2:11:55it. Swirling mess.
- 2:11:56I don't get it. But I did feel bad for Kody and
- 2:12:01I hate to say that I feel like I need to take a bath.
- 2:12:04I need to take a shower. I guess I find it hard to relate
- 2:12:14have just fallen off from over time because we grew apart or
- 2:12:19moved or whatever, I don't think I would have that big of an
- 2:12:24emotional response if I saw them again and then would be teary
- 2:12:28about it, talking about it again later.
- 2:12:30And I have had even some really, really good friendships and
- 2:12:36badly. And it's heartbreaking.
- 2:12:38It is like a breakup and it sucks.
- 2:12:41I would say more when it's a friend, sometimes it's it can be
- 2:12:54relationship I've had with a friend that I would get that
- 2:12:59emotional about today. I don't know.
- 2:13:01Maybe if I thought about it, maybe if I saw the person, I
- 2:13:04would. I don't know.
- 2:13:05It's hard. To know, specifically with the
- 2:13:11flying in and flying out when it seemed to have been hard for
- 2:13:15Kody to experience that in some way.
- 2:13:18So it's hard to follow and well, my question for you about it
- 2:13:24though would be when we were watching this, did you feel bad
- 2:13:29for Kody, I guess? I empathized with him but also
- 2:13:39overreaction. I guess.
- 2:13:40I don't know the whole situation and I, that was very apparent
- 2:13:45based on his tears and how emotional he got, because he
- 2:13:49really is emotional. He's not just, you can tell
- 2:13:52there's a lot more there and he doesn't want to let it out.
- 2:13:57So yeah, production really lets us down because there are these
- 2:14:01moments where they could make a thing of something and let you
- 2:14:08They never go there. And it's frustrating because now
- 2:14:17that I had a falling out with and we reconnected and then that
- 2:14:31thinking about it, I suppose there are a few people in my
- 2:14:33life maybe that I would have that reaction too, but I don't
- 2:14:38And I think that there's a lot of this drawn back to the faith
- 2:14:46and feeling heartbroken maybe for this friend thinking that
- 2:14:50they're maybe going to go to hell now if he is a true
- 2:14:55believer in his faith. And you think that your friend
- 2:15:03disappointed in the fact that they don't have the same faith
- 2:15:09with there for somebody that's really religious, and that might
- 2:15:18arguably to a big difference between Kody not seeing Brett
- 2:15:23for five years and then seeing him on his wedding day.
- 2:15:26And then he's like, great to see you got to go versus they
- 2:15:30reconnected in some manner. Previously.
- 2:15:32We met that friend of Kody's where they had a similar
- 2:15:35situation in a previous episode where they reconnected over
- 2:15:38business things. And then when they met in person
- 2:15:42that they had least had some recent history.
- 2:15:44We don't know that about Brett and Kody.
- 2:15:47And I didn't even think about that at the time.
- 2:15:49I I thought that it wasn't as significant as haven't seen them
- 2:15:58So production really does let us down.
- 2:16:01It's disappointing, frankly. They would.
- 2:16:03Have only been on speaking terms again for two years at this
- 2:16:06point because they've been in Vegas for about two years, so it
- 2:16:13times they've probably only seen each other since the
- 2:16:16wedding. Maybe a couple of times, maybe
- 2:16:19not since this, maybe not. At all until.
- 2:16:21This I mean, so I can, I guess I
- 2:16:26emotional if that is the timeline, which is what I
- 2:16:30thought it was, but they don't
- 2:16:33God. It sucks when I'm going to
- 2:16:35repeat myself, but it just sucks
- 2:16:38with Kody because I do not want to have them.
- 2:16:41And I'm watching this scene, feeling myself getting
- 2:16:43emotional, thinking about, Oh my
- 2:16:46experiencing that, I would also be upset and it would hurt.
- 2:16:49And I'm like, no, no, no, Chris,
- 2:16:52no. Do not allow yourself to have
- 2:16:54empathy for this man. You know, it's kind of, it's a
- 2:17:00transition to we're now at Meri's house and the sun's up
- 2:17:04and it's a whole new day and Meri is going to be doing
- 2:17:08something completely not related to an emotional crying wedding,
- 2:17:11blah blah blah thing. Meri shows the camera Leon's
- 2:17:15graduation photos on an invite to a graduation party.
- 2:17:18Was it like an invite? I think it was.
- 2:17:22Graduation announcements, she called it, which is weird
- 2:17:25because I would think you would have graduation party invites,
- 2:17:32She called it. OK.
- 2:17:33I was a little confused because I'm going.
- 2:17:35I don't know. Are you having a party?
- 2:17:37Like what is this? But who knows?
- 2:17:39Meri's friend Andrea is going to be heading to the store with
- 2:17:43Meri to get fabric and supplies to make a quilt or blanket for
- 2:17:57Loudly. Hanging proudly in his dorm room
- 2:18:04He gets to say, welcome to my dorm room, babe.
- 2:18:07This quilt is from my my dad's fourth wife.
- 2:18:11Yeah. No kidding, my dad.
- 2:18:13'S fourth wife's sister made this quilt and my dad wrote me a
- 2:18:20some bullshit like it was. Something about not sleeping
- 2:18:23with people. That was what he was alluding to
- 2:18:30quilt had everybody's pictures on it.
- 2:18:33So Robyn's sister prints photos onto fabric and then makes
- 2:18:40picture quilts. So he got a quilt with all of
- 2:18:44his siblings faces on it and all
- 2:18:49take to college his freshman year and they.
- 2:18:52All wrote him a little like you know well wish on it so he gets
- 2:18:55to put that next to his bed so
- 2:18:58he gets that precious 20 minutes
- 2:19:02from their class and he's going to masturbate he gets to look
- 2:19:04over and see his entire family
- 2:19:07Beautiful. So wonderful.
- 2:19:08Or look down if he's using it,
- 2:19:12face staring back up at him as
- 2:19:15Oh my God, no. It's.
- 2:19:18Either on the wall or on his bed.
- 2:19:20Oh my God. Let's hope it's in his trunk or
- 2:19:23in a tote in that like wooden closet that you get like he
- 2:19:27hopefully it's put away. It wouldn't.
- 2:19:29Fit. That thing was freaking huge.
- 2:19:31It was massive. It was thick too, like like you
- 2:19:34need that, OK. When Meri and Andrea arrive at
- 2:19:38the Fabric Boutique, is the name
- 2:19:42building. Now, I'm not sure if that's just
- 2:19:47it's the name of the business. Either way, I'm intrigued and
- 2:19:49I'd like to go spend some money there.
- 2:19:52They walk in and I was. I was moved by all of the
- 2:19:59beautiful quilts on the wall of the store, huge quilts on the
- 2:20:04walls of every color and texture, and good old grandma
- 2:20:10old fashioned vibe. I just had to point that out for
- 2:20:22In fabric, that's what it was.
- 2:20:25covered in quilts. A.
- 2:20:27Lot of fabric and a lot of quilts and Meri wants to make
- 2:20:30sure that she gets Westminster
- 2:20:34obviously what what colors would
- 2:20:36Westminster colors? They did that for Logan's
- 2:20:39wonderful quilt. So Meri's going to pick fabrics
- 2:20:43of purple and gold. We get some voiceovers from Meri
- 2:20:48where she's talking about how most plague wives have so many
- 2:20:52kids that when their oldest one leaves the house, they still
- 2:20:55have so many children left that they have many years left with
- 2:20:59this family. And we're just going to bring up
- 2:21:01this whole empty nester thing.
- 2:21:05in that culturally, not only is it, you know, someone living in
- 2:21:09the monogamous world and whatever and only having one
- 2:21:11child and navigating that through life, especially if they
- 2:21:14wanted to have more kids. But then in her culture, so many
- 2:21:17of these women have so many kids.
- 2:21:20And so it's kind of just another
- 2:21:23about Meri's expectations of her
- 2:21:26probably thought, well, you know, when Leah, not that she
- 2:21:30thought specifically, when Leon goes to college, I'll have
- 2:21:32other kids, but there aren't any other children for her.
- 2:21:35And everyone else in her culture
- 2:21:39child wearing ahead of them, you know?
- 2:21:41What I didn't think of as well is that by the time a lot of
- 2:21:46these women are empty nesters, they might have grandkids.
- 2:21:50So they never get empty nest syndrome because they
- 2:21:54technically never have an empty nest because then they're
- 2:21:58helping with grandkids. So this might be a super weird
- 2:22:08That does even make it more unique.
- 2:22:10I'm so glad that you pointed that out because really that is
- 2:22:14common thing in the polygamous culture right?
- 2:22:17Multigenerational. I'm older than my uncle vibes
- 2:22:21and Meri is raising a child that not only is going to college and
- 2:22:30having that happen for her. Yeah.
- 2:22:32Oh God. See this.
- 2:22:34Oh. Don't make me feel bad for.
- 2:22:36Meri No. I don't.
- 2:22:37I'm not going to do that. We're not going to harp on it.
- 2:22:47this. We're trying, we're trying to
- 2:22:50connect and understand where they're coming from.
- 2:22:53So. And I promise our keep sweet
- 2:22:55this episode won't be a repeat from last week.
- 2:22:59We do. Try.
- 2:23:00Sometimes I swear we do. But this does tee up another
- 2:23:04moment for you know, Meri to share how Kody is not in the
- 2:23:07same situation as her. Because not only is she an empty
- 2:23:13Her partner in crime, The love of her life in air quotes isn't
- 2:23:17even in the same experience at all with her.
- 2:23:20That would fucking suck to not even be able to have your spouse
- 2:23:27If anything, if they were on good terms, he'd be using her
- 2:23:30house as an escape to get away
- 2:23:35have that man time alone. And he would think of it as a
- 2:23:39reprieve where she is there all the time alone.
- 2:23:44And it's totally different. Yeah.
- 2:23:47They don't even have that. Oh God.
- 2:23:51She. Feels like she's going to do
- 2:23:53this completely alone and I just
- 2:23:56quote in because she feels that.
- 2:23:57Do you? Feel that way, Meri?
- 2:23:59You're probably not wrong. That's where we end it.
- 2:24:04We end on a high note, as per usual.
- 2:24:08They really. Do like to leave us feeling good
- 2:24:13Do how many times have we ended and we're like well left us on a
- 2:24:21Oh my gosh, before we do our mustard seeds, shit stains and
- 2:24:30out a few comments from a recent episode that we received
- 2:24:32on Spotify because I think some of our listeners might find
- 2:24:36these to be interesting resources.
- 2:24:39And you know, we'd love to share
- 2:24:42We're sharing knowledge, we're
- 2:24:45light, love and a closeness to
- 2:24:48And on a rewatch of season 6, episode 9, Sister Wives on the
- 2:24:52ropes, we got a couple of these comments.
- 2:24:55One is from Fab Poppy and Fab Poppy tells us that Christine
- 2:24:59Marie. Now, as we remember, Christine
- 2:25:01Marie is on the episode for the panel, right, which we're
- 2:25:05talking about the panel episode.
- 2:25:06And Christine Marie was the one that had the Netflix
- 2:25:09documentary. Trust me, the false prophet.
- 2:25:12Yes, thank. You honey.
- 2:25:14Thank you. And her daughter Lola has a
- 2:25:17really good cult podcast called Trust Me, which is funny because
- 2:25:25her mother's story about her own polygamous cult experience.
- 2:25:27And Fab Poppy was suggesting it
- 2:25:30for anyone interested in hearing
- 2:25:33experience or her daughters experience I have.
- 2:25:35Listened to that podcast, not the one specifically about
- 2:25:38Christine Marie, but I have listened to the podcast in
- 2:25:42general and it's good. Oh.
- 2:25:44So you would also recommend, trust me to our listeners when
- 2:25:47you recommended that book by Jessup.
- 2:25:51That was a good listen. So I love these recommendations.
- 2:25:54Another one is from Nikki the Vandal and Nikki says, not sure
- 2:25:58if it's been mentioned, but Colleen is on ATV show called
- 2:26:02Escaping Polygamy, which we didn't reference when we were
- 2:26:05talking about Colleen. I don't know what network that
- 2:26:08show is on. Honey, have you seen that show?
- 2:26:10I. Haven't the name rings a bell
- 2:26:14and I might have randomly seen a
- 2:26:18the top of my head recall it when.
- 2:26:21Searching for Colleen's name online, there's all these
- 2:26:23references to this escaping polygamy show.
- 2:26:25So that could be a future deep dive for us.
- 2:26:28So in our case, a shallow dive. We'll see what ends up
- 2:26:32happening, but another thing to look into with Colleen is
- 2:26:35Escaping polygamy as ATV show. Why don't you go first with your
- 2:26:45Why don't I have you do it this time, Sir?
- 2:26:50Well, I. Feel like the belle of the ball.
- 2:26:52I've never felt prettier, younger or thinner.
- 2:26:55Thank you, honey. I'm tempted to give Brett my
- 2:26:59mustard seed, but I do have a conscience.
- 2:27:04I do have a soul and I'd like to
- 2:27:06So even though he is a sexy man that could wrestle me and pin
- 2:27:11me down and push me into the ground and make me get covered
- 2:27:15in the filth that's on those wrestling mats, you really?
- 2:27:18Want to do the horizontal hokey pokey with Brett?
- 2:27:21I just didn't. Know listen, if Brett never
- 2:27:25talked and Brett never did anything except for please me,
- 2:27:30I'd be down. But my mustard seed in this
- 2:27:35episode has to go to 1 Christine
- 2:27:41allowed Kody to put those filthy fucking mats in her garage and
- 2:27:46all she did was ask for a one-on-one conversation to get
- 2:27:51some extra perks. OK, let's not let's not say
- 2:27:54extra perks to be treated probably like some other wives
- 2:27:58in his life and ask for some reasonable things.
- 2:28:02And we didn't even get to hear
- 2:28:04Her asks were and I you mentioned the mic packs might
- 2:28:08have been turned off. Maybe they were.
- 2:28:10Maybe it was production being like we're not even going to put
- 2:28:12the audio. Who knows what it was.
- 2:28:15But I'm giving her my mustard seed because frankly, I think
- 2:28:19she should have said no, But you
- 2:28:24thing. I mean, the Mormon fundamental,
- 2:28:26I mean the cult member thing and
- 2:28:28that. And also I was a huge fan of her
- 2:28:38high it could shatter thin glass.
- 2:28:41And when she was screeching, Oh my gosh, I had flashbacks to
- 2:28:46flash forwards to let me call you sweetheart, which is
- 2:28:50something that you all have to
- 2:28:53future. And it's a rarity for me to give
- 2:28:57Christine a mustard seed. So I'm just going to celebrate
- 2:28:59myself as one of the leaders of the manosphere and as someone
- 2:29:02who gave Christine a mustard seed.
- 2:29:05Well, I hope I didn't steal yours.
- 2:29:07Who's your mustard seed guy? You sure?
- 2:29:08Did, because she was kind of the
- 2:29:13doing anything special. But yeah.
- 2:29:16You. Know I am going to give it to
- 2:29:19Meri here and hear me out. She did get very annoying with
- 2:29:26her. Oh yeah, woe is me kind of with
- 2:29:31Leon moving out and then not smelling what the other sister
- 2:29:37Ives were stepping in when they were trying to give her options
- 2:29:40and like, oh, what do you want
- 2:29:41You want the kids around more?
- 2:29:43No, she just didn't even pick up
- 2:29:46But she did help little truly get to hold the snake and she
- 2:29:52helped Christine do it as well.
- 2:29:55I didn't mind the way that it ended with her connecting with a
- 2:30:03Her friend Andrea is an empty nester as well and I think it's
- 2:30:07smart for her to be connecting with other people in her life
- 2:30:11that are in a similar situation that can relate to her right
- 2:30:14now. So for those few reasons, she is
- 2:30:24Who's going to get your schmear in your underwear this week?
- 2:30:29Well I had our usual king and queen options of the shit stain
- 2:30:35royal family, but of. Course.
- 2:30:37And I'm going to opt for the one that is the neck that turns the
- 2:30:42head. I'm going to opt for Robyn.
- 2:30:46Hate animals, hate animals. You hate animals.
- 2:30:51Yershit stain. Period.
- 2:30:53Who says they hate animals? Oh my God disgusting.
- 2:30:57A psych, a nut job. Someone who literally should not
- 2:31:04She made some of the ugliest faces I have ever seen on
- 2:31:09television in this episode. The shocking couch reactions to
- 2:31:13the animals and the snake or the the I know the camel, the
- 2:31:19camel, the whiskers. She acted like it was like she
- 2:31:28Also looking so disinterested while Meri was sharing her
- 2:31:33feelings on the couch. It was subtle.
- 2:31:35If you're watching it for the first time you might not even
- 2:31:38catch it. But the way that Robyn was
- 2:31:40sitting next to Meri as Meri is sharing these heartfelt things
- 2:31:49bawling. And Robyn's, she straight up
- 2:31:51look like a 13 year old to me. And not to put down any 13 year
- 2:31:55olds, just in her own mind, disinterested, probably
- 2:31:58readjusting her pants. And you know, whatever.
- 2:32:02Shocking. The bitch fucking sucks.
- 2:32:05And we say that all the time. And Robyn, if you're listening
- 2:32:21social media platforms where you're defending yourself.
- 2:32:24Gross The. Dog kicking the.
- 2:32:27Dog I. Didn't know about that.
- 2:32:30Kicking I. Didn't know about that.
- 2:32:32I know, Let's call it alleged. Until one of our adored
- 2:32:35listeners gives us the evidence that we need.
- 2:32:38It's just a conspiracy and it's all alleged, but Oh my God, I
- 2:32:42can't. I don't even know right now why
- 2:32:44I'm getting so passionate about this shit stain.
- 2:32:46I just Robyn the hating the animals.
- 2:32:48I don't even know. I just can't.
- 2:32:51I can't. It's.
- 2:32:52Weird. It's a huge red flag and it's
- 2:32:54weird. And if she did kick a dog at one
- 2:33:07and saw. And if she can shoe shoe a
- 2:33:11little child away like they're a speck of dirt, then imagine a
- 2:33:15dog allegedly. Allegedly.
- 2:33:17It's all alleged. Yeah.
- 2:33:18It could just be because I need to get my vision checked.
- 2:33:21You know, I might need the same glasses that you have.
- 2:33:23Maybe I'm making it all up. It's it could all just be a
- 2:33:26figment of my imagination. Prove.
- 2:33:28Us wrong, Prove us right. Find the photos Thank you.
- 2:33:31Thank you. Evidence.
- 2:33:32Prove us something, all right, darling.
- 2:33:35So now your shit stain. I wonder who you're going to
- 2:33:38give it to are. You ready for this?
- 2:33:40Well, you've. Got a couple options and I'm
- 2:33:42curious to. You give it to Ava and Brett as
- 2:33:47a couple. I think that might be breaking
- 2:33:50rules. Damn, then I feel like I have to
- 2:33:57so he's the one that's leading them down this treacherous path
- 2:34:05of heteronormative bullshit. And self admitted leader, he's
- 2:34:12together. So he is so.
- 2:34:14I think he put her up to asking the wives specific questions.
- 2:34:19I think that they probably bitch about the Browns together behind
- 2:34:29like all of his wives. If anything, maybe he's a fan of
- 2:34:40their backs just based on those questions that Ava asked.
- 2:34:44They felt very pointed and like
- 2:34:47they were leading to try to get the wives to a conclusion that
- 2:34:51maybe they need to treat their
- 2:34:56And I don't like the way that he
- 2:35:02being the man of the household
- 2:35:06Then Kody was just as yucky because he jumped on board with
- 2:35:09it and tried to, you know, macho
- 2:35:13And Sean, you tried to stay out of it.
- 2:35:17I could tell that he was like trying to stay out of it.
- 2:35:20But those conversations are the ones where we need good men to
- 2:35:25stand up to each other and be like, look, not in my household.
- 2:35:29And This is why. And she's just as capable of
- 2:35:32making the final decision as I
- 2:35:34So sometimes I do defer to my wife when it's her purview, her
- 2:35:40type of thing. And sometimes she defers.
- 2:35:43To me, it would have been a good
- 2:35:46but that didn't happen. So Brett is a shit stain.
- 2:35:51He led the manosphere pack. He led the conversations with
- 2:35:55the men to these places where they were shitting on their
- 2:36:00wives, essentially talking about
- 2:36:04And I don't know, I I didn't like his vibes.
- 2:36:09I think Kody probably cares more
- 2:36:12Kody. This maybe was an opportunity
- 2:36:15for him to be on TV. Like, I don't know.
- 2:36:17I just did not like his vibe and
- 2:36:21either. She was sitting on the tailgate
- 2:36:24of that moving truck that was moving those mats and judging
- 2:36:28the fuck out of them the whole
- 2:36:31They showed her face. They showed her sitting there
- 2:36:34during the conversation about whose garage it was going to go
- 2:36:36in and she was judging MC Judgerton.
- 2:36:41I didn't like it and I just got a very weird icky feeling about
- 2:36:46them as a couple. He's going to get my shit
- 2:36:49stained. If they both could, they would.
- 2:36:52Hopefully his smears onto her a little bit something like that
- 2:36:58while she's cleaning his shoes
- 2:37:01maybe. Their laundry gets intertwined
- 2:37:03and some of that shit ends up on
- 2:37:05She ended up cleaning it up. That's probably what would
- 2:37:08happen. So yeah, she's.
- 2:37:10Definitely cleaning up his shit for sure.
- 2:37:12Unfortunately, because I am such
- 2:37:16manosphere, I have to say I agree with your shit stain.
- 2:37:20Even though Brett could be my Big Dipper any day.
- 2:37:24Sad place for me to be sad. Please help dirty.
- 2:37:26Whore mouth, then sure. Yeah, I would.
- 2:37:31Take bread. If you agreed with everything I
- 2:37:33said and said that I was right
- 2:37:35worshipped me, but you know, OK,
- 2:37:39All right, Chris, tell me our keep suite for the week.
- 2:37:43I would like to hear something
- 2:37:47heard before. Can you share with me please
- 2:37:50take me on a journey. I love this so much.
- 2:37:55I love this so much. Our keep sweet moment this week
- 2:37:58comes to us from a listener on
- 2:38:04Polygamy questions answered that
- 2:38:08the family did. This comment comes to us from
- 2:38:12user Uber Wino. Can we give them a keep suite
- 2:38:16for the username Uber Wino? I mean seriously, like.
- 2:38:18It I like it. Obviously love Uber Wino as a
- 2:38:21username I can identify. The older I get, the less Uber
- 2:38:26Wino I am. But I still do enjoy a nice
- 2:38:29glass of wine. And I think you do too, darling.
- 2:38:32I've seen you drink a glass or
- 2:38:35I do enjoy a wine Uber. Wino says listening to your
- 2:38:39podcast feels like hanging out
- 2:38:42Kris and Kimber never fail to make me snort laugh when they
- 2:38:45call out the adults and the kids
- 2:38:51favorite podcast. I love that because I have seen
- 2:38:55comments on some other people's content where people are all,
- 2:38:59oh, you talk about the children and it's so fair enough.
- 2:39:03I mean if you're just going to
- 2:39:05about minors, that would fucking
- 2:39:08But the. Majority of the show is about a
- 2:39:10family and the majority of that family are minors, so
- 2:39:13unfortunately we're going to have to talk about the children
- 2:39:16at this point. Giving me a reason to keep
- 2:39:19going, especially after the tragic mistake of reading the
- 2:39:24same keeps Week 2 weeks. In a row.
- 2:39:28I'm going to offer an official
- 2:39:31losers. Honey, is there anything you'd
- 2:39:33like to add to my official apology?
- 2:39:35That's basically just saying sorry, no.
- 2:39:37You know what? I don't apologize because I
- 2:39:41think that it was a pleasant one
- 2:39:47hear it a third if I could. Double.
- 2:39:50Down. I'm going to double down like
- 2:39:53Meri would, yes. Very merry of you.
- 2:39:57I love it. I love it.
- 2:39:59Oh, my goodness. Well, thank you, everyone for
- 2:40:01making it through another episode with us.
- 2:40:03You know what we didn't do this episode?
- 2:40:05We didn't promise that it was going to be short and we didn't
- 2:40:08lie. We.
- 2:40:10Delivered a long 1 yet again.
