- 0:19and Scott Moskowitz. Hey, everybody. Welcome
- 0:25back to No ID, North Idaho's mainstream media
- 0:29deconstruct. I'm Scott. I'm Paul. Hello, internet.
- 0:34And same room once again, we are I'm looking
- 0:36right at you. You're a handsome man. It feels
- 0:38good Good to be called handsome. I mean, oh Well,
- 0:43it feels good to be here Yeah for the right the
- 0:47right place and the right vibes but for maybe
- 0:49not the best reason yeah now I had to come down
- 0:52to get a consultation from my busted -ass foot
- 0:54and here we are But I thought, hey, it's recording
- 0:57day. Today's recording day. So I called up Scott
- 0:59and said, I got to be down in town anyways. Why
- 1:02don't we just stare into each other's beautiful
- 1:04blue eyes? Well, yours are kind of hazel. Well,
- 1:06yours are yours are being magnified. By your
- 1:09glasses. Making fun of my BCGs. Very hip glasses.
- 1:14You know, it's funny how things change because
- 1:16in the 50s, these were referred to as birth control
- 1:18glasses, the thick rims, the whole, you know,
- 1:20these are fucking Coke bottles, man. Like in
- 1:23the, in the wild, I would be considered easy
- 1:25prey because I can't see for shit without them.
- 1:27But, uh, you know, how times change. Now all
- 1:29I gotta do is throw on a beanie and wear these
- 1:31glasses and I'm hip. Yeah. No one's called you
- 1:34four eyes and at least a generation. No, no.
- 1:36I can play D &D in these glasses and still nobody
- 1:39makes fun of me. What a time to be alive. I think
- 1:42that's the problem, Scott. I think that's actually
- 1:43partly why society has collapsed is because we
- 1:45don't bully nerds like we used to. Nerds are
- 1:48not cool, man. Oh, nerds are in. No, no, they're
- 1:51not. Still jocks, dude. It's the jocks are still
- 1:54where it's at. Tell that to the Super Bowl. All
- 1:57right, let's let's get right into it. Do it.
- 1:59I have a lot of good stuff Paul came wildly unprepared.
- 2:03Yeah, he's got no laptop. He's got no articles
- 2:05He's got no nothing and that's okay. He's you
- 2:08know, medical emergency takes precedence. I guess
- 2:10I get it Luckily, I am over prepared It's gonna
- 2:15be just one running session of ask Paul basically,
- 2:18you know what lurch from topic to topic and I
- 2:20have no idea what's coming next Why don't we
- 2:22start we did it last week because I was trying
- 2:24to cheer you up and you brought it up again So,
- 2:26you know what? Why not? Once again, let's just
- 2:27start with us Paul The city of Post Falls recently
- 2:29announced it will remove an unnecessary sales
- 2:32tax on residential utility bills Well, this tax
- 2:34was for garbage collection services in the city
- 2:37of Post Falls decided the tax was unnecessary
- 2:41now since then After a statement from the Idaho
- 2:44State Tax Commission, now the city of Post Falls
- 2:47is yet again reviewing this decision. The city
- 2:52of Post Falls announced on January 26, they eliminated
- 2:55an unnecessary sales tax that was on residential
- 2:59utility bills. With the help of the Idaho State
- 3:02Tax Commission, the city says they found residents
- 3:04had already paid the use tax on garbage bins
- 3:08at the time of original purchase, meaning the
- 3:11use tax should not come out again. on their monthly
- 3:13bill. The city says the tax charge was about
- 3:1688 cents per month. After removing the tax, households
- 3:19would save $10 to $15 per year. After the announcement
- 3:23was made to remove the tax, I reached out to
- 3:26the Idaho State Tax Commission about the decision.
- 3:29I received an email back stating, what do you
- 3:32think? The commission said to this quote, journalist
- 3:37lady state tax commission. What is it? I reached
- 3:40out to the Idaho state tax commission about the
- 3:43decision. You can tell she did because you hear
- 3:44her typing in the background about the decision.
- 3:46I received an email backstating. It makes me
- 3:50think of the Minnesota, the investigations going
- 3:52on over Minnesota. We're like, we investigated
- 3:54whether or not day cares exist. And it's just
- 3:56them going, hey, are you a legit business? Yes.
- 3:59Yes, we are. There you have it. No fraud happening
- 4:03here. Hey, dispatch the rioters to the streets
- 4:06to distract the public, will you? Oh, this mic's
- 4:08still on? I think we should dispatch the rioters
- 4:10to the streets. $0 .88 cents on my garbage can.
- 4:12Get bent. actually, you know, they've, they talked
- 4:16about three taxes in this sound clip. There's
- 4:18like use tax sales tax and like garbage sanitation
- 4:22tax or some damn thing. Good Lord. What do you
- 4:25think? Idaho tax commission probably said, this
- 4:27is going to take more time and effort than it's
- 4:29worth. And this is, you know, We disagree with
- 4:33less taxes something to that. Oh, yeah I received
- 4:36an email back stating under more review the Tax
- 4:39Commission gave the City of Post Falls the wrong
- 4:42opinion Residents cannot get a sales tax refund
- 4:46because the garbage service is actually taxable
- 4:4994 of the Idaho sales and use tax administrative
- 4:53rules Stop this right now. Stop the sound bite.
- 4:56Okay. Do you know how we used to make fun of?
- 4:59How at some point they were gonna figure out
- 5:01how to tax oxygen. It's worse. They are taxing
- 5:05our garbage That's it game over man. No, they're
- 5:10not even taxing our air now. They're taxing our
- 5:12garbage They're taxing the shit we throw away
- 5:13Scott and when the city tries to do something
- 5:16nice the state tax commission stills like Nah,
- 5:20keep taxing them filthy plebes tax. They're rubbish.
- 5:24Hey, we would like to save our customers about
- 5:2788 cents a month. What do you think? No can do
- 5:33I can't like we couldn't make this up if we tried
- 5:35I couldn't write I couldn't write this I don't
- 5:37think George Orwell could write this referred
- 5:40me to the city of Post Falls for an update on
- 5:43the tax removal now post fall leaders leaders
- 5:46leaders tell me they are now reviewing the status
- 5:48of this tax removal and they will give an update
- 5:51a later date. What do you think they're gonna
- 5:54decide? What will the determination be? I hate
- 5:57to be that guy because you know how anti Everything
- 6:01I am really But I wonder whatever it is Paul's
- 6:05against it. I am against it. The answer is no
- 6:07But now you have to wonder how many man hours
- 6:11have been spent on this issue It like I'm obviously
- 6:15pro get rid of this tax. This is ridiculous However,
- 6:19there's a certain point at which how much money
- 6:20is the City of Post Falls potentially spending
- 6:23on staff to review this issue? versus what it's
- 6:27going to save the individual taxpayer. Now, I
- 6:29guess maybe what it's going to save en masse
- 6:32as like the city post falls as a whole, maybe
- 6:34that might pencil out. So maybe if you're looking
- 6:36at those numbers, that might pencil out. But
- 6:38on an individual level, let's say 15 bucks a
- 6:41household and the average city employee makes
- 6:45anywhere from $60 ,000 to $120 ,000 a year. I
- 6:50don't think the math maths. Good try though.
- 6:53I have to say this good try. I really do appreciate
- 6:56the city of post falls trying. I mean it You
- 6:59played the do the twilight zone music because
- 7:02it is like the twilight zone anytime. They actually
- 7:04take away attacks Yeah, yes, that's yes. Thank
- 7:07you city of post falls. Thank you. So very deeply
- 7:09Maybe a trombone. Whomp. Whomp. You tried maybe
- 7:12if we save enough of our we get like enough 88
- 7:17cents at a time handed back to us, maybe we could
- 7:19actually buy a house in Post Falls. Home prices
- 7:21in Kootenai County hit a more than three year
- 7:23high in January. The median price for a single
- 7:25family home climbed to $562 ,000. That is up
- 7:306 .4 % from a year ago. topping the previous
- 7:33peak that was set in 2022. There were 667 active
- 7:38listings last week while 143 homes sold in January.
- 7:42Realtors say the market is gaining momentum earlier
- 7:45than usual and prices could continue to rise
- 7:47throughout the year. Yeah, the market's gaining
- 7:50momentum earlier than usual because it's look
- 7:52outside the look out the window. It's it's like
- 7:54May. Prices are up and realtors rejoice. This
- 7:58breaking news. Realtors say the market has momentum.
- 8:02Yeah, and home prices are up six percent, which
- 8:04means so are my commissions. Meanwhile, I know
- 8:10housing is expensive. We should probably make
- 8:12it cheaper, but I'm not gonna because a lot of
- 8:14people have all their wealth in their house and
- 8:17we don't want to make it too cheap. We don't
- 8:18want people who haven't worked hard to be able
- 8:20to afford a house. So fuck you, everyone under
- 8:24the age of 65. Fuck you. If you have money to
- 8:32spend, this is actually kind of a longer presentation
- 8:34here on houses and money as it pertains to contractors
- 8:38and what is the latest push with regards to regulations
- 8:43because Idaho does not license contractors. You
- 8:47don't have to have a license, you have to be
- 8:48on a registry. But they're trying to change that.
- 8:51If you can imagine, of course they are. Last
- 8:52night we showed you Idaho's relaxed contractor
- 8:55registration rules and how they're harming homeowners.
- 8:58The division of occupational and professional
- 9:01licenses is getting more and more complaints
- 9:03about contractors each year, with nearly 400
- 9:07submitted in just the last seven months. Idahoans
- 9:10are losing millions of dollars. Idaho prides
- 9:16itself on being business friendly. Spoiler alert
- 9:19it right now. I'm gonna is like, well, occupational
- 9:21licensing isn't going to fix this issue. It never
- 9:23does. Well, that's okay. Well, you know, we don't
- 9:26go anywhere to any state. Go over to Washington
- 9:28where they where you are heavily licensed. And
- 9:30guess what? I wonder how many complaints they
- 9:32have. Probably a lot. I mean, like everywhere
- 9:35you go, contractors suck. Everybody hates them.
- 9:37There's this, you know, I think it's a level
- 9:39of Dante's Inferno. Hell is Like level eight
- 9:42is where you have to go and get a subcontractor
- 9:45to show up on time and stay within the bounds
- 9:47of the estimate. It never happens. It's like
- 9:49the eighth level of hell. The premise is like
- 9:51you're you just kind of it's not a spoiler exactly.
- 9:54But I mean, that is sort of the overriding thing
- 9:56here, which is through this whole presentation,
- 9:58because it's the mainstream media who's always
- 10:00arguing on behalf of bigger government. The premise
- 10:02is that more regulations on contractors equals
- 10:05less fraud perpetrated on homeowners. But it's
- 10:07not true. It never works out that way. Furthermore,
- 10:10everything anytime they tell you it's for consumer
- 10:11protection, the consumer always pays more. The
- 10:14consumer has less choice and higher prices in
- 10:17the end. And oftentimes the quality of service
- 10:18doesn't improve. The quality of product doesn't
- 10:20improve. You just now have fewer choices and
- 10:22you spend more money. Idaho prides itself on
- 10:25being business friendly with low barriers to
- 10:28entry and very minimal regulation. That was one
- 10:30of the main reasons lawmakers passed the Contractor
- 10:33Registration Act rather than licensing in the
- 10:35early 2000s with input from the Home Builders
- 10:38Association. And the legislature even at that
- 10:40time in 2005 was not keen on the idea of quote
- 10:44licensing and so ultimately what we settled on
- 10:47was the compromise which is now the registration.
- 10:50In Idaho, most general contractors working jobs
- 10:52over $2 ,000 have to register with the state
- 10:55contractors board and get liability insurance.
- 10:58But there's no requirement for formal training
- 11:00experience. or a test contractors can register
- 11:04under multiple names or businesses, including
- 11:06those who lose their registration or license
- 11:09anywhere in the country. Many of those bad actors
- 11:12are coming from other states where their license
- 11:14have been revoked and we don't have the ability
- 11:16to revoke a license because we don't have licensing.
- 11:19It was an eye opener. Brad Toft is a construction
- 11:22lender providing financing for building or renovating
- 11:25properties. He recently dealt with his own home
- 11:27building headaches, dealing with contractors
- 11:29who he says did. shoddy work on his new house.
- 11:33Was that surprising to you when you moved to
- 11:34the state of Idaho? Number one, that it's just
- 11:37a registration and not a license. And number
- 11:39two, that there is no education or competency
- 11:41evaluation. It was a big surprise people. I know
- 11:46I get it though. I do get this as somebody who
- 11:49spent 100 grand that I didn't have. On shoddy
- 11:53workmanship when we bought what we call a Clark
- 11:55Fork special. up in Clark Fork, Idaho, when we
- 11:57moved up there in late 2019 and discovered mold
- 12:00in the roof, mold in the floors, all kinds of
- 12:02corners cut, all kinds of issues. It was a self
- 12:04-build. I mean, you name an issue, we found it
- 12:07and had to correct it. Not to pat myself on my
- 12:10own back here, but if anybody can speak to this
- 12:12and lived the experience and spent the money
- 12:14and the time and the aggravation and had a house
- 12:15tore apart for two straight years, it was me.
- 12:17And even still, I wouldn't have it any other
- 12:19way as far as the licensure goes, because being
- 12:21licensure or not, that shit happens every day.
- 12:24Talk to anybody in the area, regardless of who
- 12:26they've hired, some with license, no license,
- 12:30big, small, almost everybody's got a bad story
- 12:34about not to say that all contractors are bad,
- 12:37but everybody has a story about a bad contractor.
- 12:40And that's not just Idaho, that's everywhere.
- 12:43So this doesn't solve the problem. It's frustrating.
- 12:48So but what's frustrating is they're going to
- 12:49use this, of course, as an opportunity to expand
- 12:51government power, make occupational licensing
- 12:54even even stronger. They talk about the home.
- 12:57the Home Builders Board or whatever that is.
- 12:59Well, guess who's going to sit on that thing?
- 13:00People who are already at the top, people who
- 13:02already have power and the money, and now they
- 13:05get decision -making power on who gets to enter
- 13:06the market, how, when, and why. So they're gatekeepers.
- 13:10Occupational licensing is gatekeeping. And I
- 13:12know if you've been screwed over by a contractor,
- 13:15you might be thinking, well, that's good. We
- 13:16should gatekeep people. Well, no, because if
- 13:19the market sorts that out, if they're good, you
- 13:22know they get referred they stay in business
- 13:23their reputation builds the market dictates they
- 13:26get to survive their business works if they're
- 13:29not good they don't stick around for long they
- 13:32do pop up again and again sometimes but they
- 13:34don't they don't have staying power and that
- 13:37comes down to just being you know be community
- 13:39-minded talk to people right get feedback that's
- 13:41why review sites exist you can review people
- 13:44there's lots of ways to review people are they
- 13:46good were they bad there's a lot of ways to do
- 13:48this without crushing the good actors while you're
- 13:52trying to stomp out the bad actors. It was a
- 13:56big surprise. People don't know the distinction
- 13:58between registration and licensing, and they
- 14:00don't know what the requirements are. So they
- 14:03look up something in a database and they're like,
- 14:06OK, well, they're licensed, so there must be
- 14:07some sort of vetting. The trade off to a lenient
- 14:10system. So he asked for half upfront, half a
- 14:13front homeowners like the role of sins. You need
- 14:16materials and you need to pay his sub. Note,
- 14:18by the way, the music in the background designed
- 14:20to create very honest unease. Yeah. What did
- 14:23you say? Very ominous, ominous, exactly. Ominous
- 14:26and uneasy. Well, what they're going to do here
- 14:28is also paint consumers as helpless and like
- 14:32and it's the it's kind of the bigotry of low
- 14:34expectations extended instead of a race situation
- 14:37like it usually is. We're like, you know, black
- 14:39people can't get are too stupid to get driver's
- 14:41licenses. That's why we that's why voter idea
- 14:43laws are racist. It's like, do you realize what
- 14:45you just did there? Clearly not. You're the racist.
- 14:49That would require self -reflection. Right? Yeah.
- 14:53But in this case, it's just consumers are stupid
- 14:56and we need to protect them from themselves.
- 14:58Well, as an adult, it's your job to advocate
- 15:00for yourself. As a consumer, it's your job to
- 15:03do your research. And in the day of the incredible,
- 15:05edible internet where everything is out there
- 15:07for everybody to see and you can talk to anybody
- 15:09anywhere at any fucking time, do your research.
- 15:13You need materials and you need to pay his subcontractors,
- 15:17which sound at the time realistic can be left
- 15:19vulnerable and he just continues to just make
- 15:22excuses just constantly making excuses where
- 15:25he finally just eventually goes to me. Their
- 15:27deck contractor took nearly 20 grand in a deposit
- 15:30and never started their project. Note the language.
- 15:34No, they did not take 20 grand in a deposit.
- 15:36They were voluntarily given 20 grand by this
- 15:40homeowner who got taken for a ride. But there's
- 15:44no no responsibility for the individual as usual.
- 15:46That's the overarching theme with all this stuff.
- 15:49The individual is not responsible for anything.
- 15:51They're too stupid to advocate for themselves
- 15:53or to know what they're doing. So therefore they
- 15:55need the government to do it for them. Lazy,
- 15:58stupid, whatever you want to call it, maybe a
- 15:59combination of both. Now, I'm not trying to sit
- 16:01here and and blame the victim or victim shame.
- 16:04That's not what we're trying to do either. But
- 16:06you do have a responsibility as an individual
- 16:09and as an adult to make all of these kinds of
- 16:12decisions in your life. You know, this is what
- 16:14being an adult is. I'm not saying it's a, it
- 16:17sucks to get taken like this. And it's going
- 16:20to happen with licensing or not. It might happen
- 16:23slightly less, but the damage done to the market
- 16:25when you stomp out a lot of the good actors too,
- 16:28is going to be more than, than what you're going
- 16:31to receive from stomping out some of these type
- 16:33of actors. And this goes along, you know how
- 16:35we always laugh about like, we should just tear
- 16:37the safety labels off of everything and let God
- 16:38sort it all out, right? We do live in a baby
- 16:41-proofed, safety -proofed, safety -proofed, safety
- 16:45-fied society where every chance we get, if one
- 16:48bad thing happens, now all of a sudden we have
- 16:50to cover everything in a bubble wrap for everybody.
- 16:54And it's insulting, actually. But people, they
- 16:58do want it. A lot of people do. Just for the
- 17:00record, I do use a Xacto knife and a heat gun
- 17:04to remove warning labels from essentially everything
- 17:06I own. I hate them. I hate them. I hate them
- 17:09and in a deposit. I'm not kidding. I really do.
- 17:12I ripped the tags off my mattress. Come and get
- 17:14me feds under penalty of law and in a deposit
- 17:18and never started their project. I think you
- 17:21need to balance an openness to small business
- 17:24with protecting consumers. The people paying
- 17:27for it was are the ones the ones being separated
- 17:30from their money. Generally speaking, the consumer
- 17:33should be. There is no greater entity. At separating
- 17:37you from your money and the government. Hello
- 17:39are the ones the ones being separated from their
- 17:42money. Generally speaking, the consumer should
- 17:45be given priority. Hello, how can Idaho protect
- 17:49consumers by leaving us alone challenge that
- 17:53we're facing is essentially narrowing this gap
- 17:56so that homeowners are not taking advantage of
- 18:00while at the same time, contractors that are
- 18:03doing good work aren't being overly burdened.
- 18:06Homeowners are being taken advantage of and contractors
- 18:09are being overburdened by the state. The state
- 18:15aren't being overly burdened. I think it's a
- 18:17great balance between consumer protection and
- 18:21still maintaining our really lowly regulated
- 18:25state. The Division of Occupational and Professional
- 18:27Licenses, Doppel, oversees the Contractors Board.
- 18:30They pitched legislation last year to give Idaho's
- 18:33contractor registry. I now know of another agency
- 18:35I want to abolish right now. That's an agency
- 18:38I didn't even know existed until right now, and
- 18:41I want to abolish it. To give Idaho's Contractor
- 18:43Registration Act more teeth. This really just
- 18:46gives Dopple a tool to say, you know, slow down.
- 18:50You are already a real bad actor. Here's the
- 18:54evidence. You know, we're going to be able to
- 18:56pause that registration. The bill never made
- 18:59it out of committee. Contractor registration
- 19:01was never meant to be. what I believe this is
- 19:03going at right here. Part of their knee -jerk
- 19:05reaction is anything that appears to be more
- 19:09regulation, more bureaucracy, they kind of view
- 19:12as a barrier to entry. Yes, because it is. No,
- 19:17no, no, it's a knee -jerk reaction. It's not
- 19:19thought through at all. The problem with getting
- 19:20this passed is that the people who would vote
- 19:23on it sought for what it does. And that's disappointing.
- 19:26They had a knee jerk reaction. We whacked their
- 19:29knee cap with the rubber thing and their leg
- 19:31flew right up into the air. No thought required.
- 19:33Maybe if we just shave off that 88 cents they
- 19:36tax garbage with and start a fund for homeowners
- 19:39who have been snookered by their deck builders,
- 19:43a reparations fund for ignorant homeowners. That's
- 19:47what I propose. See, they kind of view as a barrier
- 19:51to entry. And, you know, and that's just the
- 19:54philosophy and the attitude. I have been arguing
- 19:57with legislators that in our case, in this case,
- 20:00that this is a... But we're special. It's not
- 20:02a philosophy or an attitude. It's just the literal
- 20:04truth. Like, you can say that that's a good thing,
- 20:07and here's why, but it's not just a philosophy.
- 20:12Okay. You know, and that's just the philosophy.
- 20:14Did you ever watch that show Arrested Development?
- 20:17Yes, absolutely. Do you remember the blonde girl
- 20:20into bias? Thank you, I've made a huge mistake.
- 20:25Yes, the fume case. The fume case, thank you.
- 20:27Tobias the never nude. There's a scene in like
- 20:30season two where they're talking about, I don't
- 20:32remember what they're talking about, but it's
- 20:34Tobias and his wife and they're looking at other
- 20:36couples or something and Tobias goes, yeah, it
- 20:39never works. No matter who it is, it never works.
- 20:42It never has for anybody, no matter who's tried
- 20:44it throughout history, but it might work for
- 20:47us. Well, did it work for those people? No. It
- 20:54never does. I mean, these people somehow delude
- 20:56themselves into thinking it might, but it might
- 21:01work for us. That's this guy. He's like, yeah,
- 21:06we know that this is going to be a barrier to
- 21:09entry, but we're different. And, you know, and
- 21:14that's just the philosophy and the attitude.
- 21:16I have been arguing with legislators that in
- 21:18our case, in this case, but in our case, consumer
- 21:22protection issues. that really needs to be dealt
- 21:25with. Ken Burgess, lobbyist for the Home Builders
- 21:27Association, is pushing similar legislation this
- 21:30session. There are about 21 ,000 names on the
- 21:34contractor registration list, right? 99 % of
- 21:38those people are good businessmen who are trying
- 21:40to do a good job and provide a good quality service
- 21:43and product for Idahoans. If the numbers are
- 21:47that low for the bad actors, then you don't even
- 21:50need an occupational licensing program to find
- 21:52them. Follow the reviews. Furthermore, fun fact,
- 21:58the homeowners, what is it? Homeowners Builders
- 22:00Association. Home Builders Association are on
- 22:03record from a few years back as coming out against
- 22:05hard, hard, hard against one of our Cootin County
- 22:08commissioners, Mark Eberlein, a few years back
- 22:11when Mark Eberlein successfully, by the way,
- 22:14in Cootin County, you've mentioned this on the
- 22:15show, stripped back some county building requirements.
- 22:19Now, they didn't they didn't get rid of the state.
- 22:21building codes, federal and state building codes
- 22:24are still in place. So there was there was still
- 22:26pretty high bars, so to speak, as far as the
- 22:29bare minimums go for electrical work, for plumbing
- 22:31work, there was, you know, you basically still
- 22:33had to follow all the all the big stuff so that
- 22:34your house doesn't burn down and blah, blah,
- 22:36blah. But for people who wanted to build their
- 22:38own homes, or self build or hire contractors
- 22:40to do the work, the county was now not going
- 22:43to get involved and add to that burden. It wasn't
- 22:46really a big strip back it was it was small but
- 22:50it made big news of course and a lot of people
- 22:52threw a fit about it and the Home Builders Association
- 22:54and the Realtors Associations were the two big
- 22:58entities that threw the biggest fits about it
- 23:00and then between the two of them got Mark Ebeline
- 23:02ousted from the Kootenai County Commissioners
- 23:04and this was like four or five years ago now
- 23:06and it was because they have a vested interest
- 23:09in everything costing more and taking more time.
- 23:11Yes, of course they do because new competitors
- 23:12drive down prices and they undercut bids and
- 23:15they innovate more. We can't be having that because
- 23:17God forbid people who quote unquote don't work
- 23:19hard enough shouldn't be able to afford a house.
- 23:22Only people who work the right amount of hard
- 23:24and who are over the age of 60 should be allowed
- 23:27to live in a house. Yeah, this is like why would
- 23:31the Home Builders Association who represents
- 23:34contractors be arguing, don't contractors want
- 23:36less government regulation? Well, not when they're
- 23:39big. Established builders have compliance departments.
- 23:43Their dues paying members don't want the competition.
- 23:47They have the cash flow to absorb all these new
- 23:50licensing requirements and what it does is it
- 23:51all it does is filters out new competition. Well,
- 23:53it's the same reason why Amazon was a for, they
- 23:56supported the internet sales tax. when the internet
- 23:59sales tax became a widely pushed for thing. Cause
- 24:02every state was like, Oh, look at all this money
- 24:04we can get with internet sales and state by state.
- 24:08The issue was lost. And I mean, we lost on that
- 24:11issue. Cause now we pay internet sales tax too.
- 24:14And Amazon came out and said, yeah, we're for
- 24:15this. And at first a lot of people went, what,
- 24:17what the fuck Amazon? You're the biggest one
- 24:19of all. And it was like, Oh yeah. because they're
- 24:22the biggest one of all they're already set up
- 24:24to be able to do sales tax in all 50 states they've
- 24:28already got it going and they can absorb the
- 24:29costs everybody else the small guys now have
- 24:32to deal with it exactly weird how that works
- 24:34a couple of these comments these are not my words
- 24:36but i wanted to share them there's also the a
- 24:39liability shifting incentive more regulation
- 24:41means more checklists and more boxes to tick
- 24:44and if something goes wrong the blame migrates
- 24:47from the builder to the regulator So it's it
- 24:50masquerades as consumer protection, but it's
- 24:54risk outsourcing. Yes. Well, and then what you
- 24:55have is regulators, bureaucrats. They're bureaucrats
- 24:58who typically work for the government and are
- 25:00risk averse anyways, because they work for the
- 25:02government. You don't wake up in the morning
- 25:03and you're not an interesting person who takes
- 25:05risks or creates or innovates if you work for
- 25:08the government. There's a few exceptions, but
- 25:11most people who work for the government. don't
- 25:13do it because it's not rewarded. Risk is not
- 25:16rewarded. So now everything has to be exactly
- 25:19a particular way at exactly the right time with
- 25:21exactly the right form. Look at health care.
- 25:23Health care has suffered under this exact issue
- 25:26because nobody wants to take the liability. Understandably,
- 25:29they don't want to, but entrepreneurs and people
- 25:32like us, we live with risk every day. We work
- 25:34under risk. The market brings a certain level
- 25:37of risk that we're willing to make and take that
- 25:39other people aren't. That's why we do what we
- 25:41do and they do what they do. So your point is
- 25:44valid. It outsources the risk, but it also slows
- 25:46things down, makes things more complicated, more
- 25:48expensive. And at the end of the day, this was
- 25:50my biggest beef when it came to the Kootenai
- 25:52County issue, where they, by the way, they went
- 25:55Mark Ebeline and they stripped it back, but as
- 25:58soon as they ousted him, they put all the restrictions
- 26:00back on. Of course. Well, it's my property. Who
- 26:05the fuck are you to say who I can and can't have
- 26:08work on it or what I can and can't do Ultimately,
- 26:10that's the issue at the end of the day Scott
- 26:12who are they to determine that? Yeah, the state
- 26:15the state or our glorious leaders leaders leaders
- 26:19Good quality service and product for Idahoans.
- 26:23But the way the law is written, the door is just
- 26:26cracked open just enough that those scam artists,
- 26:29I call them, are able to take advantage of that.
- 26:33They hope to seal that. Government people calling
- 26:34other people scam artists just a pot calling
- 26:36the kettle black. I've ever heard it. Votje zet
- 26:38ben gezelf. You see, the problem is that other
- 26:41people are extracting money from people and not
- 26:43just us. It's not that we don't agree with the
- 26:46extraction. We just don't agree that it's not
- 26:48us. I'll take advantage of that. They hope to
- 26:51seal that crack this year. Their bill gives the
- 26:53contractor board more power this year. Their
- 26:57bill gives the contractor board more power power
- 27:00power by making it easier for them to track down
- 27:03and force contractors to participate in investigations
- 27:06and require continuing education if there are
- 27:09repeated issues. The bill also proposes a three
- 27:12strike rule. If a contractor has three violations
- 27:14over the course of five years that it gives the
- 27:17board the authority to rescind their registration.
- 27:21This legislation probably doesn't go as far as
- 27:24we would like, so now you're kissing the ring.
- 27:26Now you have to kiss the ring of this board.
- 27:30The intentions here are good. The theoretical
- 27:33idea of this is good, but pick another category,
- 27:37pick another industry, pick any of them and see
- 27:41how it actually works out. It speaks for itself.
- 27:44Well, that's the thing. It won't work out the
- 27:46way that everybody thinks. That's the thing.
- 27:49We're not saying that these people speaking are
- 27:51like, you unzip their skin suit and they're reptiles.
- 27:53Some of them, yes, but I don't... I'm willing
- 27:56to give the benefit of the doubt to the people
- 27:57you're hearing right here that, like, they genuinely
- 28:00don't want homeowners to get scammed out of 20
- 28:03grand for a debt contractor who never shows up.
- 28:06But the premises that they're operating under
- 28:08are inverted. Well, we're seeing the results
- 28:10of 100 years of just a little bit more, Scott,
- 28:12you and I in our lives right now. There are more
- 28:14laws on the books than there ever have been in
- 28:16our lifetime. We're the most jailed population
- 28:18per capita. We're the most surveilled. The list
- 28:21of what we can't do. 10 times bigger than the
- 28:24list of what we're allowed to do when at the
- 28:26same time people Thump their chests and be like
- 28:28America the land of the free right exactly. You
- 28:30can't do anything without permission No, this
- 28:32is how we got here is iron shit right here. We're
- 28:35guys are like just a little bit more We just
- 28:36need a little more regulation for the consumer
- 28:38and a hundred years later that little more regulation
- 28:41is a Encyclopedia of what you are not allowed
- 28:45to do. It's also unbelievably ironic that The
- 28:48list of what you're not supposed to do, that's
- 28:51supposed to be what like the Constitution is.
- 28:53It's limits on what government cannot do. It's
- 28:56inverted. You brought up the Constitution. You're
- 28:57funny. I know, I know. I'm a comedian. Hey, I
- 29:00have been told this is the best joke of the day.
- 29:02Some people do find our show funny, I've been
- 29:04told. So there you go. You're welcome. They have
- 29:06bad taste, but I'm glad you guys are listening.
- 29:08Thank you. Where's my rim shot? Let's finish
- 29:12this up. OK, I'm sorry. This legislation probably
- 29:14doesn't go as far as we would like, but we are
- 29:18hopeful that it is something that that is a middle
- 29:21of the road kind of scenario that we can get
- 29:23through the legislature now until the next time.
- 29:26Attorney Christian Martino represents both contractors
- 29:28and homeowners. I get to see both sides of the
- 29:30coin and thinks reform should go further. You
- 29:33don't have to reinvent the wheel bureaucrat telling
- 29:36us that we. He should have more power. That was
- 29:38an attorney. Attorney Christian Martinow represents
- 29:41both contractors and home. It's almost like the
- 29:44guy who stands to profit the most from regulation
- 29:48and rules and lawsuits and liability issues.
- 29:52Pro tip, also fun fact, any association that
- 29:55is full of lawyers, guess what they love? More
- 29:58law. Billable hours, baby. The less accessible
- 30:00you can make the law, the more money the lawyers
- 30:03make because now you need them. It's the same
- 30:05reason H &R Block loves more taxes and more tax
- 30:09regulations because the more complicated the
- 30:11tax code is... We're going to help you, consumer.
- 30:13We're going to help you navigate it. Oh hey,
- 30:14is that a complicated tax code over there? Don't
- 30:16worry, we're here to help. We're here for you.
- 30:18Should go further. You don't have to reinvent
- 30:19the wheel. He looks to neighboring Nevada and
- 30:23Washington as examples. They have some of the
- 30:26strongest. Right? Oh, and I'm sure there's no
- 30:31fraud there. There's no bad contractors there,
- 30:33right? No homeowners getting screwed out anything
- 30:35there, right? No protections with recovery funds
- 30:38for homeowners and mandatory surety bonding for
- 30:41contractors that homeowners can tap into if they
- 30:43feel the deck over there. Exactly. If you don't
- 30:47have that consumer protection bond in place,
- 30:49then. The contractor can't take a deposit of
- 30:52more than $1 ,000. The contractor can't take
- 30:55more than a deposit of what you, the homeowner,
- 30:58choose to give him. Correct. The contractor can't
- 31:01take anything you have to give it to him. Correct.
- 31:04More than $1 ,000 or 10 % of the contract price.
- 31:09If people ever could be, and this is one of the
- 31:11things I push as much as I can, to recondition
- 31:14people to think, to reframe the whole conversation.
- 31:17If people thought about the government, in the
- 31:20way they think about actors in the private sector,
- 31:22everything would change overnight. But it's crazy
- 31:25to me that we do not apply these same standards
- 31:29to the state. We don't. We apply these standards
- 31:33to everybody else, to everything and everybody
- 31:35else. And we're upset about being taken advantage
- 31:37of and getting nothing in return, shoddy work,
- 31:41opaque business practices, whatever, whatever.
- 31:44Ironically, we don't apply it to the worst actor
- 31:47that we deal with, which is the state. The state
- 31:50which gives no value in return, takes via force,
- 31:54is the most opaque, least transparent entity
- 31:57to exist. And we don't apply these kinds of standards
- 32:00to them. And you're really summing up, Paul,
- 32:02summing up the reason that we're ultimately here.
- 32:05The reason that that remit continues to be the
- 32:08default mindset and framing is because mainstream
- 32:13media presentations across the board on all mediums
- 32:16for decades and decades take this sort of tone
- 32:20and it conditions people not to think that way.
- 32:23Contract price, whichever is less. So it prevents
- 32:26them from taking these huge deposits and then
- 32:29not doing the work or continually making excuses.
- 32:32Was it just like there was the Cirksaw earlier?
- 32:34These are Natpops. So it prevents dude in a house
- 32:37construction like was it was he in the house
- 32:40while it was being built for this interview or
- 32:41something Ow, I hammered my thumb. Miss them
- 32:44from taking these huge deposits and then not
- 32:47doing the work. We're continually making excuses
- 32:49why they can't do the work. Bonding's not that
- 32:51expensive. You're talking about dependent...
- 32:53He's the guy who doesn't have to do it. That's
- 32:55the guy, that's the spokesperson from the Home
- 32:58Builders Association. Oh, shocker. Believe it
- 33:01or not. Let me just do a quick bonding. For one,
- 33:04who's gatekeeping, what is expensive and what
- 33:07isn't. For two... it completely, how much your
- 33:10bonding costs you totally depends on, it's basically
- 33:13a measure of your credit worthiness. Bigger contractors,
- 33:16yes, bonding is quote, not that expensive depending
- 33:19on what your definition of expensive is. And
- 33:21here's a quick breakdown. If you have good credit
- 33:24and a clean license history and several years
- 33:27in business and stable cash flow and no claims,
- 33:29like the incumbents largely do to varying degrees,
- 33:32then, you know, you're looking at like a $10
- 33:34,000 bond being one to 3%, you know, one to $300
- 33:37a year. But if you're a new contractor, you're
- 33:40trying to break into the business, just like
- 33:42if you don't have a lot of credit, well, you're
- 33:44going to pay higher interest rates. Bonding works
- 33:46the exact same way. New or thin file contractors
- 33:48are looking at like five to 15%. Some have to
- 33:51post collateral, and some are simply denied.
- 33:54So like a $25 ,000 bond, for example, at 10%,
- 33:57well, that's $2 ,500 a year. I mean, you start
- 34:00moving the needle a lot more in a one person,
- 34:02two person operation, or you're seasonal, or
- 34:04you're working with thin margins, or you're just
- 34:06trying to get licensed. And this is the one that
- 34:10I always come back to. You're young, and you're
- 34:14starting out. See this is the part area. This
- 34:16is the area This is the thing that people don't
- 34:18understand in general but boomers in particular
- 34:19I blame for this the most because they're the
- 34:21ones that gave us the bulk of this and then Gen
- 34:23Xers have carried it on and Millennials just
- 34:25grew up with it So now we just are conditioned
- 34:27to think that regulation of this magnitude is
- 34:30normal and civilized, but it's not. You know
- 34:33who you gatekeep the hardest with this stuff?
- 34:35Young people. Young people who want to be entrepreneurs.
- 34:38Ask any boomer and go, what do you think about
- 34:41young people today? And they'll tell you, oh,
- 34:43they don't really want to work that hard. And
- 34:44back in my day, everybody owned a business, and
- 34:46we worked for ourselves, or we worked for a manufacturing
- 34:49line. And one is pretty much one or the other.
- 34:50Now nobody wants to run a business because they
- 34:52don't want to work hard, and blah, blah, blah,
- 34:53blah. And it's like, No, mostly people our age
- 34:56don't want to run their own businesses, because
- 34:58it's so damn hard. And it's so expensive. And
- 35:01the permitting process, the paperwork process,
- 35:03just filing to get your fucking S corp status
- 35:05with the IRS, just pile it all up as money and
- 35:09time just to get started. You've you mean you
- 35:11are young barriers everywhere you are every step
- 35:13you are stupid for starting your own business.
- 35:15If you are young in this day and age, you're
- 35:18well, you're you're my kind of stupid because
- 35:20you know, I did it. Yeah, me too. You've done
- 35:22it. And people I know and love have done it,
- 35:25but we're built different. But most people, they
- 35:29just go, well, I'd love to do this or this or
- 35:32this with my talents and my time and my treasure.
- 35:34How's that for value for value? But I can't.
- 35:37Or it's too damn hard. I don't have the money.
- 35:39I don't have the resources. I don't know how
- 35:40to push all this paperwork. So instead, I'm just
- 35:42going to go work for Amazon. Or Uber or H &R
- 35:46Block. Yeah. This is a real thing. This is a
- 35:49real phenomenon. We're almost at the end. I'm
- 35:51sorry, and I'm really passionate about it. That's
- 35:53like the the the cost the lost opportunity costs
- 35:58of Crushing young people from being able to be
- 36:01entrepreneurs because of this bullshit is massive
- 36:04and most of it is unseen We can't actually fathom
- 36:07how much yes not quantifiable because you can't
- 36:10obviously you can't measure what never happens
- 36:12But if you just consider on the individual level,
- 36:15how many millions of people might do something
- 36:19else? and do something productive, creative,
- 36:22innovative, profitable, and just can't or haven't
- 36:26done it because of these things. That's trillions
- 36:29and trillions of dollars in lost opportunity.
- 36:33And that's just the money. That doesn't count
- 36:34dreams that have been crushed. That doesn't count
- 36:36products and services that don't exist, that
- 36:38could, things we can't even imagine that we could
- 36:41possibly have right now that we don't get to
- 36:43have. Bonding is not that expensive. You're talking
- 36:45about, depending on the amount of the bond, it's
- 36:48anywhere from $150 to $500 a year. Some states
- 36:53require milestone payments be built into contracts.
- 36:57In that contract, it has to have certain milestones.
- 37:00You can do this as a customer. You can do this
- 37:03right now. Right, whatever contract you want.
- 37:05I've done it. How can you do it without the state?
- 37:07milestones and certain amounts tied to those
- 37:11milestones for the funds to be released. The
- 37:13milestone payment sounds like an awesome solution.
- 37:16This already exists. This already exists. Oh
- 37:21my God. A great way to make sure that. We're
- 37:24not forking over our savings just so it can get
- 37:28stolen. Another possible solution? Martino suggests
- 37:32increasing registration fees, which could help
- 37:34Doppel work through the agency's backlog of disciplinary
- 37:37actions. Until and unless more protections are
- 37:39put in place, homeowners can take steps to educate
- 37:42and protect themselves. First, make sure your
- 37:46contractor is registered with Doppel and insured.
- 37:48Research their legal history. Get at least three
- 37:51detailed bids. contact multiple references. Make
- 37:54sure you get a physical contract, negotiate the
- 37:57payment schedule, save all receipts and communication,
- 38:01and avoid a large down payment, especially in
- 38:04cash. Good contractor, you know, yeah, they might
- 38:09need to get a little bit upfront to go get materials
- 38:11that they need. But you know, when people are
- 38:13asking for 30 % or 50 % down, that should be
- 38:17a red flag for people. Okay, there you go. This
- 38:21was probably one of the longest segments ever.
- 38:24And I want to apologize for that, but maybe I'm
- 38:27not gonna because there was a lot to unpack in
- 38:29this one. I'm gonna be perfectly honest here.
- 38:33It's been really hard not to just curse at the
- 38:35voices in the machine this whole time. That cup
- 38:38of coffee really got to me. I'm having a great
- 38:40time, but also I'm livid as an anarchist, libertarian,
- 38:44whatever I want to call myself. Like this is...
- 38:48Why we can't have nice things and this is why
- 38:51when I get to have nice things it costs five
- 38:53times more than it should This is and this is
- 38:57this is why young people Struggle yeah to make
- 39:01a life because like, you know, there's a lot
- 39:04of guys It's usually men who think this way who
- 39:07are mainly construction because they work with
- 39:09their hands They're good with they're good with
- 39:10their hands, but you know who aren't great at
- 39:14paperwork who mostly those same guys the auto
- 39:18mechanic that you need, the plumber you need,
- 39:20the electricians you need, the dudes who can
- 39:22build your house and do that deck and do a great
- 39:24job of it. I'm generalizing, but they're typically
- 39:28not the guys who are good at pushing the paper,
- 39:31filing all the bullshit and doing all that. And
- 39:33they shouldn't have to be. As long as you can
- 39:36build a good deck or whatever I need you to,
- 39:39we're golden. But you shouldn't have to have
- 39:41to do the rest. Anyways, I'm rambling now. I'm
- 39:43pissed. Then we'll use some poker terminology
- 39:47since that's a hobby that Paul and I both share.
- 39:49I put Paul on tilt with this particular clip.
- 39:52Yeah, another part of the vernacular I would
- 39:55borrow then right now is I'm steaming. steaming
- 39:57yeah i'm steaming like if i had my pile of chips
- 39:59in front of me right now i'd probably shove all
- 40:01in with eight three off just to piss everybody
- 40:03else at the table off i've definitely lost with
- 40:05aces two eight three so you never know you might
- 40:06just win anyway yeah well i know you also lost
- 40:08with trip jacks the last time we played yes i
- 40:10did the set of jacks no good it wasn't your fault
- 40:12you made the right moves pocket jacks are always
- 40:13the worst they are you remember Muck dude. Auto
- 40:16muck. If I auto muck pocket Jacks, you know that
- 40:18better. You know that in that pot, by the way,
- 40:20if I'm the one on the flush draw, it's like,
- 40:22it's the, it's the four of dandelions hitting
- 40:24the river every time. No universe. Well, and
- 40:26if I'm the one on that draw, I don't call that
- 40:28bet. I never call that bet. It was a stupid pot.
- 40:31That guy was a stupid player and a bad player
- 40:33and he shouldn't have won. I'm sorry, Scott.
- 40:36You're the victim here. I need the state to step
- 40:39into the poker world and help me. We need licenses
- 40:41to be able to play poker in a state where poker
- 40:44is illegal. Show that you're competent, man.
- 40:46Otherwise, the other players are just going to
- 40:47take your money. They're just going to take it.
- 40:51OK, let's do one more before we take a mid show
- 40:54breather here to explain the value for value
- 40:57model that no ID runs on. And let's see, what
- 41:00will be a quick one here? Should we do? How about
- 41:06the raw milk one? This is great. Now you have
- 41:10a sort of, is it fair to say, a semi homestead?
- 41:15I call it a millennial homestead. A millennial
- 41:18homestead. Yeah, we're about halfway there. We're
- 41:20not off grid, but we're way less dependent on
- 41:23the grid than most people are. We don't have...
- 41:26a lot of livestock, but we do have a bunch of
- 41:28chickens, so on and so forth. So we kind of split
- 41:30the difference. But no, we're not a full blown
- 41:32on our own. I'm kicking ass, taking names, doing
- 41:35tough guy stuff homestead. No, we're like, it's
- 41:37just glamorous enough that I could probably do
- 41:39an Instagram channel with it, but not a good
- 41:42Instagram channel. Now you're the you're the
- 41:45quintessential type that would be would consume
- 41:49raw milk, probably if I could if you could dairy,
- 41:52which I love, but it doesn't love me. Yeah, I
- 41:54would. Central District Health in Idaho is investigating
- 41:58a cluster of serious illnesses in Ada County
- 42:01possibly linked to raw milk. The mainstream media
- 42:05is very against raw milk. They hate raw milk,
- 42:09mostly because they hate the type, the mentality,
- 42:11the independent type of thinker that like gravitates
- 42:14toward raw milk. So I just wanted to I wanted
- 42:16to play this clip from CBS. But first, let's
- 42:20let's do the story from Idaho here about like
- 42:23four people in the entire stage are sick. So
- 42:24raw milk sucks. Nine people have reported getting
- 42:27sick, including two children who were hospitalized
- 42:29with serious complications. Health officials
- 42:32say if you choose to drink raw milk, make sure
- 42:35you refrigerate it within 30 minutes. minutes
- 42:37of purchase and check for spoilage. Even though
- 42:40this happened, there isn't a, a board of raw
- 42:45milk where they can license it and bond it and
- 42:49slap fees and paperwork onto it and then control
- 42:51who gets to sell. That's why, that's why this
- 42:54happened, Scott, even though it's legal in Idaho,
- 42:56it's not risk free. Um, and so I would Exactly.
- 43:00Tell me something in life that's risk -free,
- 43:03like jamming the turn with those pocket jacks
- 43:05should have been there. But no. And so I would
- 43:10recommend not drinking raw milk. OK, so now I
- 43:14want this. Maybe this is even like a little bit
- 43:16of an as Paul. So here here's a clip from this
- 43:19is probably a couple of years old now, but it's
- 43:21like it's from a CBS morning show. And this when
- 43:23they have one of their, you know, one of their.
- 43:26stooge doctors on with like the stethoscope and
- 43:28the white coat to explain to lecture you on some
- 43:31medical topic. Ten out of ten pharmacists say
- 43:33raw milk is bad for you. Now shut up and take
- 43:36your oxys. There's no way you could possibly
- 43:40come up with this. Raw milk? Think of it as...
- 43:42Think of it as... What do you think she would
- 43:45compare raw milk to? Liquid death. I mean, you're
- 43:48really... You're not exaggerating. Raw milk?
- 43:51Think of it as raw sewage. It's heavily fecal,
- 43:55contaminated. Think about, you know, where the
- 43:57cows, you know, their feces are. You know, this
- 43:59is not - Think about it as - Think about where
- 44:00the cow's poop is. Does the cow poop out of their
- 44:03udder? Heavily fecal, contaminated. Think about,
- 44:08you know, where the cows, you know, their feces
- 44:10are. You know, this is not clean. You really
- 44:12want to be drinking pasteurized milk. You really
- 44:15want to be drinking pasteurized milk. We'll be
- 44:16right back after this message is from the American
- 44:18Dairy Farmers Association. Milk. Brought to you
- 44:23by the Dairy Cartel. Milk. And I'm gonna, no,
- 44:27I'm really not going near any pastries. Oh yeah,
- 44:30no, you would want to do that. Think of it as
- 44:33raw sewage. After that segment, they both got
- 44:37double -backed to protect themselves from raw
- 44:41milk. From our friends at Pfizer. And possible
- 44:44cow poop. Okay, well this nonsense claptrap that
- 44:51you're hearing, no ID, is a value for value proposition.

- 47:59Is that a handwritten note, Scott? It sure is.
- 48:01That is so cool. This week we do have an executive
- 48:04producer and it is from Chris with a K. And Chris
- 48:09sent in a handwritten note. And check out the
- 48:13With a wax seal on the envelope. Oh and the wax
- 48:17seal has a K on it. It sure does. Does he have
- 48:20a last name that starts with a K or is he doing
- 48:22it? I'm so curious. He just signs it Chris so
- 48:26I couldn't tell you. I'd be curious to know if
- 48:27it's Chris K or just Chris with a K. Now flip
- 48:31over the envelope so it's also check out the
- 48:33stamp. That looks purposeful too. Yeah that's
- 48:37fantastic. Because, so I'm going to read the
- 48:39note. This note is written in cursive. It's beautiful
- 48:43script, by the way. Yes. I was just going to
- 48:45say excellent penmanship. No ID. Well, since
- 48:48I proposed a donation level for the shiny Schmeckle,
- 48:53I may as well kick it off with a Schmeckle towards
- 48:58the cause. Here is nine dollars and ninety nine
- 49:02cents plus a penny for the jar because he sent
- 49:05in in fiat currency. Paper money. Yeah, ten bucks
- 49:09paper note and paper money So a penny for the
- 49:12jar. That's something they'll do on no I or no
- 49:14agenda where they like nine hundred and ninety
- 49:18nine dollars and 96 cents. Well thousand dollars
- 49:20makes you a night. They're like, hey, I'm all
- 49:22the way there I'd like my night and can you kick
- 49:24in a penny from the jar to get me there? Basically
- 49:26leave a penny take a penny. You got it Here is
- 49:29999 plus a penny for the jar in support of the
- 49:31best podcast in North, Idaho Continue keeping
- 49:35an eye on everything for us and don't let the
- 49:37bastards win. Hell, yeah from Chris Thanks, Chris.
- 49:41Thank you very much Chris. That's that's cool
- 49:43You are you sir are a well, I was gonna say God
- 49:47among men, but I don't want to be sacrilegious
- 49:49You are a mountain of a man. I Love the I love
- 49:52the handwritten letter. It's an excellent penmanship
- 49:55and the wax seal like and it's nice paper to
- 49:57fill the paper Stop. I can only get so erect
- 50:00So speaking of erect now this is so now this
- 50:03is the shiny schmeckle donation. It has been
- 50:07coined. So if you wish to make a shiny schmeckle
- 50:10donation or any donation, whether it be a buck
- 50:14or a thousand bucks or any number, whatever is
- 50:17value to you, please go to noidshow .com. And
- 50:29that being said, I think it's time for second
- 50:32half of show. Let's do it. Here is the What does
- 50:37she she's like a hybrid she's she's like a commie
- 50:40evangelical preacher This is a hybrid of a lot
- 50:45of different care archetypes all mixed into one
- 50:50dictatorial Teachers Union Association president
- 50:58This is at a national rally, yeah, so I I sent
- 51:06you this. Yes, you did. And not necessarily all
- 51:08the audio. I think with the audio, I sent you
- 51:10maybe not as much, but I sent you the A audio
- 51:13and audio file of this crazy chick and was like,
- 51:16you got, we got to do some stuff with her. I
- 51:19forget her name already. Her name is Becky Pringle.
- 51:22And she is the president of the national like
- 51:25the whole organization, the National Education
- 51:27Association, as crop level, she's the president,
- 51:30the biggest teachers union in the United States,
- 51:32which so it applies to Idaho because many Idaho
- 51:34teachers are under the umbrella of the NEA, I
- 51:38think all who's at all all of the ones who are
- 51:41in state run education, I think so. Let's I could
- 51:46be wrong. No, Idaho is not a right what they
- 51:48call so Idaho is what they call a right to work
- 51:50state Which means you don't have to join a union
- 51:53as a condition of employment if you don't wish
- 51:55to which is which is a good thing That's a good
- 51:57thing however I'm not sure how it works with
- 52:03state -run indoctrination camps whether or not
- 52:05they'll let you opt out of the union or not.
- 52:07I think they do. I think they have to let you
- 52:09opt out. Well, you must be right about that because
- 52:12this is the prompt. In Idaho, what percentage
- 52:15of public school teachers are members of the
- 52:17NEA? Verified data from, this is official state
- 52:21data, although it's a few years old, but it's
- 52:2449 .9, so 50%. Half of Idaho public school teachers
- 52:28reported that they were members of the NEA. That's
- 52:31actually encouraging. I'm surprised it's so low.
- 52:33That's a pleasant surprise. It probably speaks
- 52:35to how different and unique Idaho still is in
- 52:37some ways. Anyways, I already interrupted your
- 52:41clip. But the point is, is that the NAA is evil.
- 52:43And the gal who heads it up is every everything
- 52:46you need to know about the state of affairs when
- 52:48it comes to the education. And I use that term
- 52:53dryly or wryly, I should say, the education complex,
- 52:57everything you need to know about it. Just listen
- 52:59to this chick ever seed control of the motherland.
- 53:03Oh wait, sorry, wrong clip. Now, before we continue
- 53:15here, I just want to point out that the national
- 53:18average, to your point about Idaho being that
- 53:20it's sort of heartening, that it's only half,
- 53:22the national average is about 70%. So yes, quite
- 53:26a few, quite fewer Idaho public school teachers
- 53:30are members of the inning. It would be lower.
- 53:31It would be lower, except there are a lot of
- 53:36states that are not. considered right to work
- 53:37states. In fact, our next door neighbor, Washington,
- 53:39is not a right to work state, meaning if the
- 53:42workplace, if your if your workplace is unionized
- 53:46and the union has taken over and they basically
- 53:48can demand you join the union as a condition
- 53:51of employment, you cannot refuse. This is also
- 53:57so kind of keep playing this first part over
- 53:59and over again, because I love the like, finger
- 54:02in chest, say the words. Pulp it's Maoist. She's
- 54:06bullying from the pulpit right now Brain leeches
- 54:20their MP. They have brain leeches. They're NPCs.
- 54:23Yeah, and they teach your kids They have toxoplasmosis
- 54:25because they all have cats pull your kids out
- 54:29of public school, please go wait. Hold on Let's
- 54:32give all a look. Here we go everything you need
- 54:38to know about the state run indoctrination camps
- 54:41is right here with this gal in this rally. These
- 54:45people are parasites. They're NPCs. They are
- 54:48evil. They're coming for your kids. Who are you
- 55:09fighting? Oh, you beat me too. Who are you fighting?
- 55:11You know who they're fighting? Parents. Oh, you
- 55:17mean the people who are giving you the hostages
- 55:19for their program? What the hell were you saying
- 55:20that that one asshole dip the originator horse
- 55:24man? Yeah, was that it? Yeah hostages. Yeah.
- 55:26Yeah. Yes the the the creators of your hostages
- 55:31So brave yeah, make sure to double mask, you
- 55:37know lest you get sick from one of your little
- 55:39disease vector I mean students Yeah, you you
- 55:42brave people who closed your schools for two
- 55:44years because you were so deathly afraid of the
- 55:46air Oh yeah, and still got paid, of course. You
- 55:49are brave! You are powerful! You are the - She's
- 56:02pounding the desk. It's for the kids. Give us
- 56:04your money. We have to win! All the things -
- 56:08You gotta sound like that. We have to win. All
- 56:12the things. Hey, just don't jam the turn with
- 56:14Jack. Hey, at least they're saying the quiet
- 56:15part out loud now. Yeah, I know, right? To preserve
- 56:27our democracy, we must win! All the things! That's
- 56:31the spirit of the Holy Ghost! We won't go back!
- 56:35We will keep going forward because we are the
- 56:40NEA! We are the NEA! We are the NEA! And that's
- 56:47what we do! Where are we? I just wanted to blend
- 56:56this nut into our friend Alvin Holmes. Well,
- 56:59it works. They both kind of have the same vibe.
- 57:02Incidentally, they probably have similar backgrounds.
- 57:08You know the irony, too, of her being that particular
- 57:16race. Her name is Becky Pringle. These are two
- 57:19of the whitest things I can possibly think of.
- 57:21Becky is the stereotypical white chick name.
- 57:25That's fantastic. And Pringles? Think of a Pringle.
- 57:28What color comes to your mind? You want to know
- 57:30the best part is that she, I don't know if you
- 57:32got this in your range of sound bites there,
- 57:36but she, this gal, Becky, likes to tell a story
- 57:38about her great, great grandma being from Guyana
- 57:41or whatever. I don't. Yeah. I just, I got a couple
- 57:45of like this. I got this one. You'll hear that
- 57:50on this show. And you'll also hear, listen to
- 57:53the anger in that voice. Oh baby. This lady is
- 57:57insane. And everybody who follows her is retarded
- 58:00and insane. And these are the people who demand
- 58:02you give them your children. Okay. And your money.
- 58:05And your money. Or else. We need the money. Where's
- 58:08that sound right? That's this. We need this money.
- 58:12I need money. Say the words. Okay, dig this.
- 58:20I got something for you. As a Christian, if you
- 58:23send your kids to public school, you are in sin.
- 58:27That is my belief. It is a sin to give your kids
- 58:32to these maniacs and to the system. There are
- 58:36a lot of Christians who will then give the excuse,
- 58:39but it's a mission field. We can do the Lord's
- 58:43work. To that I say, sending your kid to public
- 58:47school to be a light is a fool's errand. Children
- 58:51are neither trained nor equipped to mentally
- 58:54and emotionally fight the system for you and
- 58:57at the same time take instruction from it. your
- 58:59children are not cannon fodder for the culture
- 59:02war as parents that's your job amen amen let's
- 59:12go back to idaho even though we were sort of
- 59:15in idaho because half of the it applies because
- 59:18the nea came out against the uh hb 93 and lost
- 59:22hey all these bells by the way this uh so the
- 59:26bells for this episode are brought to you by
- 59:27steve peg this one's for you you're welcome steve
- 59:32yes we did receive uh receive a feedback. As
- 59:36Paul said, the people said and I corrected him.
- 59:39I said, the person said that there's too many
- 59:41bells. You know what I should have said when
- 59:43it came up as I said, you know, Steve, if you
- 59:45were an executive producer participating in the
- 59:48value for value model, I might, you know, the
- 59:51bell feedback might more weight. Yeah. Yeah.
- 59:54So Steve, now, you know, now, you know, let's
- 1:00:00move right along to another Steve, another bill
- 1:00:04that might Well, we'll see where it goes. This
- 1:00:09is Idaho NPR. They hate us. They hate us. And
- 1:00:18we can't hate them enough. The national treasure.
- 1:00:23The polosive on the P there is just so good.
- 1:00:27The nerve of us to even exist. is pushing lawmakers
- 1:00:33at the Capitol. By the way, they never refer
- 1:00:35to any of these other organizations as a left
- 1:00:38-wing commie pinko, or they don't say like the
- 1:00:41left -wing commie pinko mayor of Boise. They
- 1:00:43don't say that. They just label the right. Conservative
- 1:00:46Christian Policy Group, the Idaho Family Policy
- 1:00:50Center. Well, because see, they're just normal.
- 1:00:51Yeah. You know what? If that's normal, I don't
- 1:00:54want to be normal. I'm happy to be weird. It's
- 1:00:57fine. Idaho Family Policy Center. is pushing
- 1:01:00lawmakers at the Capitol to further crack down
- 1:01:03on the use of bathrooms by people whose gender
- 1:01:06or appearance might be different from their sex.
- 1:01:09You mean the mentally ill? Let me, yeah, let's,
- 1:01:11we can, we can translate NPR in real time. They
- 1:01:15don't want dudes in dresses going into the ladies
- 1:01:18room. Man, they really tiptoed through the tulips
- 1:01:20on this one by people who don't identify as their
- 1:01:23birth sex. These are the same people who would
- 1:01:26try to correct us if we used the term mother.
- 1:01:29instead of birthing person. Pregnant people.
- 1:01:32You mean moms, right? No, I mean pregnant people.
- 1:01:35Yeah, moms, women, the only people who can get
- 1:01:38pregnant. Have kids they get by people whose
- 1:01:41gender or appearance might sound by different
- 1:01:43from their sex The Center was also behind successful
- 1:01:47Senate bill 1100 three years ago Which bans anyone
- 1:01:50from using a bathroom or changing facility in
- 1:01:52government buildings that isn't aligned with
- 1:01:54their sex at birth? Legislation introduced Friday
- 1:01:57would extend those rules to every bathroom and
- 1:01:59changing facility in the state all the other
- 1:02:01bills Correctional facilities, and there's all
- 1:02:03these other things covered Now we're going specifically
- 1:02:06after these where we haven't been able to address.
- 1:02:10This is for the public sphere. That's bill sponsor,
- 1:02:13Eagle Republican Ted Hill. He faced stiff questioning
- 1:02:16in the introductory hearing on the potential
- 1:02:18for the law to be weaponized, forcing people
- 1:02:21to prove that. That is a valid concern. It is.
- 1:02:25I don't agree with men changing in front of women
- 1:02:29in the women's bathroom. I never will. So I'm
- 1:02:31not defending it, but. It is something that could
- 1:02:34be weaponized. That is a problem. Problem number
- 1:02:36two, unless they explain it for me, and I'm just
- 1:02:38jumping ahead here, is that if this bill extends
- 1:02:41to the private sector, that's a problem. As a
- 1:02:45business owner, as a homeowner, as a whatever,
- 1:02:47you have exclusive 100 % right to dictate how
- 1:02:51your bathroom is run, how it's conducted. And
- 1:02:54then it's up to your potential patrons or customers
- 1:02:56to decide if they like that policy or not. Oh,
- 1:02:59really Scott and Paul, so you just want business
- 1:03:01owners to be able to sign in the storefront window?
- 1:03:04Yeah, yeah, just as well as I do as I think the
- 1:03:07Crown and Thistle can hang a sign that says no
- 1:03:09white Anglo -Saxon Protestants except for the
- 1:03:11ones who vote the way I like in their place because
- 1:03:13that's how they are down there. It's not a hard
- 1:03:15concept. Put whatever you want in the storefront
- 1:03:18of your stupid business and let the market talk.
- 1:03:21Hashtag make hate official. Because I know they
- 1:03:25hate me. They might as well hang a sign on it
- 1:03:28so that it's easier for most of us to not give
- 1:03:30them our business. Well, what if the market talks,
- 1:03:32Scott, and then you find out that the business
- 1:03:34is thriving because they love the Nazis and they
- 1:03:36don't want you in the business? Then I know who
- 1:03:38not to trust. Yep, you got it. Congratulations.
- 1:03:40Now I know who will hurt me when things get even
- 1:03:42weirder than they are now. forcing people to
- 1:03:45prove their right to use a private space at potentially
- 1:03:48great personal expense. It's called the right
- 1:03:50of association. By the way, that's what that
- 1:03:52is. The thing we're talking about, you have the
- 1:03:54right to be racist. You have the right to be
- 1:03:57anything, really. It's the right of association.
- 1:04:00Is it moral? No. Is it ethical? Depends on the
- 1:04:05scenario. I would say it's definitely not moral.
- 1:04:08But as far as the legality of it is concerned,
- 1:04:10fuck off. It's a personal choice. You know what
- 1:04:13you sound like? You have the right of association.
- 1:04:14You sound like conservative Christian policy.
- 1:04:17Actually, I think most conservative Christians
- 1:04:19would disagree with me on this, too, because
- 1:04:20these are the people who are conditioned to cover
- 1:04:23their own tracks and be like, no, no, bigotry
- 1:04:25is bad, and you shouldn't have the right to think
- 1:04:27the way you think and hang out with who you want
- 1:04:29to hang out with, because they've been conditioned
- 1:04:31to say the right things. They're also the same
- 1:04:32people who mostly send their kids to public school.
- 1:04:35Point is, it's a deterrent. It's effective. I
- 1:04:38think all these red herrings have always going
- 1:04:40to cause all these issues. No, let's fix it.
- 1:04:43Let's protect these. Let's protect women in these
- 1:04:45spaces. Hill's bill was one of two introduced
- 1:04:48by the Senate State Affairs Committee Friday
- 1:04:50governing who's allowed in what bathrooms or
- 1:04:53changing facilities. The other similar bill is
- 1:04:55sponsored by Republican Representative Cornell
- 1:04:57Razor. One or both could receive a full public
- 1:05:01hearing at a later date. I know why he's doing
- 1:05:03it. Why? because about six weeks ago, eight weeks
- 1:05:08ago, it caused quite a stir when a man was changing
- 1:05:13in the women's bathroom standpoint at the YMCA
- 1:05:16standpoint. Yes, we covered it on the show. We
- 1:05:18did. And so that's up in district one, political
- 1:05:22district one in North Idaho, of which I am a
- 1:05:23resident and Cornell Razor is one of my representatives
- 1:05:26up there. So that one hits close to home for
- 1:05:27him. That's why he's brought it up. And then
- 1:05:29it comes down to, you know, is the YMCA, and
- 1:05:32I don't actually know this, I don't know this,
- 1:05:34so it's more of a question, you know, how is
- 1:05:36the YMCA funded, right? If the YMCA receives,
- 1:05:39and here's the litmus test, if the YMCA is a
- 1:05:42private organization, and it's privately funded,
- 1:05:44it's their prerogative. I can disagree with it
- 1:05:48all day long. And I do disagree with it all day
- 1:05:50long. But as long as the funds are private, it's
- 1:05:53their prerogative to do it. The moment taxpayer
- 1:05:56dollars enter the equation, then the government
- 1:05:58gets a say. And you need to change in the proper
- 1:06:02bathroom. It's just that simple because now it's
- 1:06:05my tax dollars propping up something that I disagree
- 1:06:07with. This is also such a sort of phony. Algoed
- 1:06:11wedge issue type of thing it is like totally
- 1:06:13is let me a personal anecdote quick story time
- 1:06:16Two summers ago. We were out on our friend's
- 1:06:20boat or maybe when we took ours I can't remember
- 1:06:21out on the river and our friends had some other
- 1:06:24friends of theirs in town from Southern California
- 1:06:26so old friends of theirs and it was a couple
- 1:06:28a good guy and a girl and We're you know, we
- 1:06:30pull into a cove. We're standing waist -deep
- 1:06:32in water with our beers We're hanging out over
- 1:06:34as one does out on the river and having a great
- 1:06:36old afternoon and I spent a bunch of the time
- 1:06:38talking to I think her name was Ashley, the guy's
- 1:06:42wife who was whatever brunette tattoos were and
- 1:06:45were swimsuits. I mean, we're in the river, you
- 1:06:46know, it's and which we mostly were talking about.
- 1:06:49Oh, she they live in Long Beach and how she inherited
- 1:06:52an apartment building from her family. And so
- 1:06:54she's been like managing tenants. And there were
- 1:06:56some challenges there because it's California
- 1:06:58and California hates landlords. And, you know,
- 1:07:00it was a very philosophically North Idaho type
- 1:07:02of conversation. Independent wanted to maintain
- 1:07:04her own wealth and wanted, you know, landlords
- 1:07:06rights, blah, blah, blah, blah. Well, I learned
- 1:07:09Weeks or months later that Ashley was born a
- 1:07:14man. Ashley was trans. You would not know. I
- 1:07:17didn't know. I literally stood two feet away
- 1:07:20from her and talked to her for two and a half
- 1:07:22hours, half dressed. No idea. So it turns out
- 1:07:26that apartment was a condo. A well landscaped
- 1:07:33one. Okay, and in this case, you know, I'll use
- 1:07:40her. I'll use her. I mean, This is not who anybody
- 1:07:46is talking about. If Ashley went into the YMCA
- 1:07:50locker room, nobody would have had any idea.
- 1:07:54It's the guy with the beard in the dress who's
- 1:07:57like the weirdo. You see what I'm saying? We're
- 1:08:00not really even talking about transgender people.
- 1:08:03We're talking about a specific subset. Do you
- 1:08:06see what I'm saying? I do see what you're saying.
- 1:08:09I would actually probably argue with you on that
- 1:08:12one, but I do understand the distinction. it
- 1:08:14is it i do get what you're saying yeah and then
- 1:08:17i just there would have been no there would have
- 1:08:19been no one to be made uncomfortable because
- 1:08:21no one would have been no one would have been
- 1:08:23aware there's just no issue i mean i mean you
- 1:08:27could you could make a philosophical issue like
- 1:08:29the kind of the kind of transition that she made
- 1:08:33he the into she yes made made it difficult to
- 1:08:37even tell the difference correct it was it was
- 1:08:39a full metamorphosis, if you will, transfer transformation
- 1:08:43or whatever you want to call it. Whereas, whereas,
- 1:08:45yeah, when you've got the dude like people with
- 1:08:48wieners going into the women's bathroom, right?
- 1:08:52You have a beer in a dress. Yes, that exactly.
- 1:08:55There's a distinction. I would say they are.
- 1:08:57Yeah, there is a distinction. The overall concept
- 1:09:00is actually still the same, but the effect is
- 1:09:02not necessarily the same. And so I don't know,
- 1:09:04maybe that's probably one that could use some
- 1:09:07more fleshing out pun, not intended. I'm telling
- 1:09:11you all our flesh was out and I couldn't even
- 1:09:12tell. That's what I've been trying to tell you.
- 1:09:14Let's stay on. Now I know how you swing when
- 1:09:15you're on the beach. Let's stay on NPR here because
- 1:09:20this is more of their conservative Christian.
- 1:09:23This answer, whatever the hell the guy said,
- 1:09:25is a different story, but it's the same source.
- 1:09:28Oh, but the same people are the bad guys? Idaho
- 1:09:30NPR, yeah. Governor Brad Little fired one of
- 1:09:32Idaho's human rights commissioners days after
- 1:09:35far -right, far -right, far -right activists
- 1:09:37shared some of her social media posts. Oh wait,
- 1:09:40so it's our fault? Yes, for just making people
- 1:09:43aware of what she said publicly. This is like
- 1:09:46the libs of TikTok type of thing where it's like
- 1:09:48we just sort of shine a spot. Like I play the
- 1:09:51NEA psycho commie. And it's like, how dare you?
- 1:09:54It's like, how dare I just show the public statement
- 1:09:57she's making? This headline should read or say
- 1:10:00fired after posting crazy bullshit. Instead,
- 1:10:06it's fired after far right crazies revealed.
- 1:10:10Her behaviors. Days after far right, far right,
- 1:10:14far right activists. It's not even, it's activists.
- 1:10:17See, so when they say stuff publicly that's political.
- 1:10:21If you post shit on the internet and I see it
- 1:10:22and I alert somebody, I don't know if that's
- 1:10:24activism so much as a, hey, this is bat shit
- 1:10:26crazy and you use taxpayer money to pay your
- 1:10:29mortgage. I disagree with this. Get bent. Shared
- 1:10:32some of her social media posts related to immigration
- 1:10:35enforcement in Minnesota. Estella Zamora served
- 1:10:38on the state's Human Rights Commission under
- 1:10:40Democratic and Republican governors beginning
- 1:10:43in the 90s. One of her recent Facebook posts
- 1:10:45shared information about a protest. She's a lifelong
- 1:10:48bureaucrat. Yep. She's been there for a thousand
- 1:10:50years. Doing a job that would never exist in
- 1:10:52the private sector except for woke corporations.
- 1:10:55And you'll hear her too. You'll hear her voice
- 1:10:57in a moment. She's 111 years old. Post shared
- 1:11:00information about a protest urging federal immigration
- 1:11:03officials to leave Minneapolis. OK, now let's
- 1:11:06translate that. That's going to work. What did
- 1:11:08she probably post? She probably posted, hey,
- 1:11:11get out in the streets. Hey, commie activists,
- 1:11:13put those bandanas around the bottom half of
- 1:11:15your face and go bust heads and bust windows
- 1:11:18in Minneapolis because the Nazi Trump icers are
- 1:11:21in Minneapolis or some variation of that. I think
- 1:11:24I think she probably. said something really polite
- 1:11:28and nice. She probably did not call for violence
- 1:11:30and probably was very cohesive in her statements
- 1:11:33and coherent, I should say, and cohesive. I'm
- 1:11:36sure it was, I'm sure it was very uplifting and
- 1:11:38encouraging something like, can we all just come
- 1:11:41together and get along and, you know, love everybody
- 1:11:45because I'm a leftist and I intolerance and peace
- 1:11:47and love. For a recent Facebook post shared information
- 1:11:51about a protest urging federal immigration officials
- 1:11:54to leave Minneapolis I'm sure that's all it was.
- 1:12:03Oh, hey ice. Could you guys uh not? Another from
- 1:12:07last year compared members of the far -right,
- 1:12:09far -right, far -right Proud Boys and white supremacist
- 1:12:12Ku Klux Klan to gang members. Brian Allman works
- 1:12:15doing so. First of all, those two groups are
- 1:12:17not even the same. The Proud Boys are feds, just
- 1:12:19in case you guys didn't know that. They lumped
- 1:12:21those two groups together as if they are a single
- 1:12:24group and they are associated with the KKK, which
- 1:12:28basically no longer exists, by the way. Oh, and
- 1:12:31what was left of the KKK, also they were Democrats,
- 1:12:35by the way, sorry. Sorry. Sorry, Estella. Sorry
- 1:12:38to break the news. Yeah. Whomp, whomp. Brian
- 1:12:40Allman works doing social media for the Idaho
- 1:12:43Republican Party and has previously worked for
- 1:12:45far right. political organizations. We should
- 1:12:48draw a line and say somebody with these views
- 1:12:50should not be in this government position. He
- 1:12:52made those comments on a web show called the
- 1:12:54Idaho Signal last week shortly after. This government
- 1:12:57position shouldn't exist. There's no right to
- 1:12:59what is this position even for. Why does this
- 1:13:02exist? Last week, shortly after Zamora's nomination
- 1:13:05hearing, Zamora says she's not opposed to enforcing
- 1:13:07immigration laws, but not in the way ICE has
- 1:13:10been operating that's resulted in the deaths
- 1:13:13of two US citizens. There's no reason. Oh, you
- 1:13:15mean those things that blacks can't get? Yeah,
- 1:13:17Mexicans too, apparently. Black and brown people.
- 1:13:21There's no reason for... That's her, by the way.
- 1:13:24This is 175 -year -old Estella Zamora. There's
- 1:13:27no reason for ICE to be going to that extreme.
- 1:13:32I hate that this woman worked for the state of
- 1:13:34Idaho. I don't hate her because hate is... We
- 1:13:37try not to... I'm working on that. This is more
- 1:13:41of the... This is the... When we say like...
- 1:13:44people are being algo'd into their outrage. This
- 1:13:47is what we're talking about. Like, well, I'm
- 1:13:48not opposed to it, but I'm just opposed to it
- 1:13:50now. Well, when I talk about not paying my taxes,
- 1:13:53this is what I'm talking about. Like any time
- 1:13:56some asshole tells even, yeah, but my roads,
- 1:13:59we need to just point them to shit like this
- 1:14:01to be like, did you know that this is actually
- 1:14:02a position in the Idaho state government and
- 1:14:05it probably pays 120 K a year? Like that's what
- 1:14:09your taxes go to jackass. Please don't take our
- 1:14:12road. Okay, let's play a little bit more. If
- 1:14:15I could eliminate every position like this on
- 1:14:17planet Earth and admit we had no roads, I would
- 1:14:19hit that button right fucking now. I mean, yeah,
- 1:14:21we don't really like leaving our castles anyway.
- 1:14:23Tomorrow night, we'd have roads again, because
- 1:14:25the private sector would be like, oh, well, somebody's
- 1:14:27got to get to, you know, we're going to figure
- 1:14:29this out. Let's play some more of Estella Zamora.
- 1:14:31Sorry, I'm sorry. Like the time I cut the fairy
- 1:14:34over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for
- 1:14:37my shoe. Oh wait. I'm sorry. That's uh, that's
- 1:14:40not Estella. My bad. Zamora said she never heard
- 1:14:42from the administration despite knowing little
- 1:14:44for years. Why would she? Allow me the courtesy
- 1:14:47and give me a call or at least look me in the
- 1:14:52eyes before you fire me. You know, even email
- 1:14:55me anything. I think that is what is the most
- 1:15:00frustrating to me. spokesperson for the governor's
- 1:15:03office didn't immediately respond to questions
- 1:15:05I'd like to actually this is if you this is kind
- 1:15:08of like a TLDR I kind of summarized this clip
- 1:15:12I maybe I didn't even need to play the whole
- 1:15:14thing let me just play the shortened version
- 1:15:15of it so you get the overall gist we're gonna
- 1:15:18play the shortened version after you just played
- 1:15:19the longer that is correct yeah I just want you
- 1:15:21to hear if you can you did that in reverse order
- 1:15:24scott oh you're right but it's still worth playing
- 1:15:26um just because it took me time to put it together
- 1:15:28so just shut up and listen far right far right
- 1:15:30ku klux klan far right far right far right white
- 1:15:33white supremacist far right far right white white
- 1:15:36white supremacist far right far right far right
- 1:15:38far white far right ku klux klan and that's npr
- 1:15:41idaho brought to you by pfizer yeah we'll be
- 1:15:44right back after these messages from galaxo smith
- 1:15:46klein Good times. All right. Well, so long Estella
- 1:15:52Zamora brought to you by raw milk is sewage Have
- 1:15:56a nice rest of your life there miss Zamora somebody
- 1:15:59send that woman some raw milk All right couple
- 1:16:02more for this week before we wrap it up and head
- 1:16:04to the lounge Let's do this episode pseudo sponsored
- 1:16:08by the racketeer cigar. Yes the racketeer in
- 1:16:11Post Falls Gotta talk to Nathan about that. He
- 1:16:13needs to get in on this value for value stuff.
- 1:16:15That is so true Let's do And I see because the
- 1:16:21very first inaugural episode of this show was
- 1:16:25with Todd Banducci, your pops and the former
- 1:16:29chairman of the board of trustees and despite
- 1:16:32despite his best efforts to you know, like author
- 1:16:37a dark chapter in the history of the college
- 1:16:40and make it lose its standing and accreditation
- 1:16:43despite his efforts. After years in limbo, North
- 1:16:46Idaho College's accreditation was officially
- 1:16:48restored. The school will remain in good standing
- 1:16:50now after facing issues dating back to 2021.
- 1:16:53Well, the question of the college's accreditation
- 1:16:54came due to noted dysfunction by its board of
- 1:16:57trustees. That's according to the Northwest Commission
- 1:17:00of Colleges and Universities whose job is to
- 1:17:02accredit institutions. Ultimately, the board
- 1:17:04was able to hold on to it after changing changing
- 1:17:06how they operate over the past few years. Because
- 1:17:09now the entire board, as well as the president,
- 1:17:13are all part of the cartel. Idaho College Special
- 1:17:16Board of Trustees meeting on Monday night. They're
- 1:17:20very happy with themselves. Applause and cheers
- 1:17:22were all to see and hear after the Northwest
- 1:17:24Commission of Colleges and Universities, also
- 1:17:26known as NWCCU, announced North Idaho College
- 1:17:30is now in good standing and will get to keep
- 1:17:32its accreditation. for voting the correct way,
- 1:17:39is what this is. But to keep its accreditation.
- 1:17:42Feels great. Kind of removes the doom, the gloom
- 1:17:46of February. This decision has been in question
- 1:17:49since 2021, when the accreditation board warned
- 1:17:52North Idaho College about what they say was instability
- 1:17:55aboard leadership. Instability they caused. Instability
- 1:17:58aboard leadership. In 2022, the college was sanctioned
- 1:18:01by the commission. And one year after that, NIC
- 1:18:04received a show cause sanction, which is the
- 1:18:06last step before a college loses its accreditation.
- 1:18:10The commission said this was not because of financial
- 1:18:12or academic concerns, but because of how the
- 1:18:15Board of Trustees govern the college in the past.
- 1:18:18NIC Chair Terry Zimmerman says while the past
- 1:18:20is the past, it is inexcusable to have had the
- 1:18:23college be in the standing. it once was in. Yeah,
- 1:18:25they didn't like who was on the board. That's
- 1:18:27all it was. Three conservatives were on the board
- 1:18:29for a grand total of like four years together.
- 1:18:31That was it. And they tried really hard to clean
- 1:18:33some things up, shed a light on some things,
- 1:18:35stop some things, slow down some things. And
- 1:18:37of course, the cartel didn't like that. There's
- 1:18:39a very, very powerful grip on well, colleges
- 1:18:44in general, but NIC as well as not immune to
- 1:18:47it by the cartel, the downtown cartel, the business
- 1:18:49cartel, the academic cartel. They all They all
- 1:18:52are large and in charge down there. And for a
- 1:18:54brief time, there was some ruffles in their feathers
- 1:18:57when conservatives actually had a little bit
- 1:19:01of power. You mean far -right Klu Klux Klaners?
- 1:19:03Far -right, far -right, far -right. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:19:05yeah. Because I'm pretty sure they actually held
- 1:19:07a vote one time to ban black people from college.
- 1:19:10My dad made the motion. He was like, yeah, all
- 1:19:12in favor of blanning, banning anybody who's not
- 1:19:15like me. It is important to say clearly and without
- 1:19:23hesitation, what happened at North Idaho College
- 1:19:26should never have happened. They found NIC did
- 1:19:49improve on those fronts, which sparked the decision
- 1:19:52to put them back in good standing after they
- 1:19:54found those changes were met. It's an update
- 1:19:56Morgan says will only benefit the Northern Idaho
- 1:19:58community. Education for the community in terms
- 1:20:02of its economy, for jobs for these young people,
- 1:20:07as well as some older people who have returned
- 1:20:10to school. The commission says the college now
- 1:20:12falls into standard evaluations, including one
- 1:20:14of institutional effectiveness scheduled in 2027.
- 1:20:18All the while folks like Morgan are glad to breathe
- 1:20:20a sigh of relief knowing NIC did what it could
- 1:20:23to bring its good standing as a school back.
- 1:20:25for the communities. Very excited. This has been
- 1:20:28a long journey for the college. NIC SAF says
- 1:20:32its improvement stems from multiple staffing
- 1:20:34changes going on over the past several years.
- 1:20:37Everyone attending was relieved to hear the news
- 1:20:39and hopes as time goes on, NIC doesn't end up
- 1:20:41in a similar situation in the future. Yes, but
- 1:20:44it won't unless the public votes incorrectly
- 1:20:46again. Just to remind you, we played this on
- 1:20:48the first show that we did, like I said, with
- 1:20:50Todd Manducci, who we did a two hour plus deep
- 1:20:53dive into what really went on there. play for
- 1:20:55you guys, William Lee's testimony from one of
- 1:20:58the public hearings where you will hear described
- 1:21:00exactly the mechanisms, the establishment people
- 1:21:04use to create this chaos and manipulate the state
- 1:21:07into having the Board of Accreditation threaten
- 1:21:11the college. It was manufactured. It was a hostage
- 1:21:13situation. The accreditation agency can only
- 1:21:16put their spotlight on a school when there is
- 1:21:20someone that reports or files a complaint. Who
- 1:21:24was the person that filed that complaint. There
- 1:21:27was just one organization that did it. There
- 1:21:29were two complaints. When the first one didn't
- 1:21:31really garner the response that they wanted,
- 1:21:34they filed a second one. Would you be surprised
- 1:21:36if I told you that one of the trustees on this
- 1:21:40board is the president of that organization?
- 1:21:42That trustee is Christy Wood. Trustee Christy
- 1:21:46Wood we've seen through several meetings for
- 1:21:49the past two years. has tried to take the high
- 1:21:52road and behave as though she's altruistically
- 1:21:54seeking the best interest of the school, saying
- 1:21:58that the school is in crisis, crisis of leadership,
- 1:22:02whatever. And even going to the CDA press and
- 1:22:06sounding the alarm that the school's in getting
- 1:22:08in trouble. Trouble. Yet her organization is
- 1:22:11the one sending the complaints to the accreditation
- 1:22:14agency. Weird how that works. If that sounds
- 1:22:16bonkers to you, it's because it is. Yep. It's
- 1:22:20essentially the metaphor is you go in, you clean
- 1:22:23up your house, the meth head who lives in the
- 1:22:25house steps outside of the house and says, stop
- 1:22:27cleaning up or I'm going to burn this motherfucker
- 1:22:29down. And then when you don't stop cleaning up,
- 1:22:32I want to clean it, light the house on fire.
- 1:22:34And then they go, you did this to us. You look
- 1:22:37what you did. You burnt down the house. We liked
- 1:22:39it. The we liked our roach infested gray gardens
- 1:22:43house just the way it was they're lighting the
- 1:22:45building on fire They're yelling at you. You
- 1:22:47did this to us. You've burned this down That's
- 1:22:51what this is. That's what this was and now that
- 1:22:54They have everybody they want on the board and
- 1:22:57as the president and it's a total rubber stamp.
- 1:23:00It's There's not a single conservative on the
- 1:23:02board. They get what they want Oh and when you
- 1:23:04know it magically their accreditation comes back
- 1:23:06and they even said it it had nothing to do with
- 1:23:08financial or academic stuff it had everything
- 1:23:10to do with personnel how the how the the board
- 1:23:13was governing the college in other words the
- 1:23:15Establishment lost control of the board and they
- 1:23:17flipped out and threw a tantrum and started pulling
- 1:23:20all of their levers of state power to try to
- 1:23:22get back into Their rubber stamp positions and
- 1:23:26they succeeded. Yes, they did. It's hard to fight
- 1:23:28man hard to fight the power here is a Just a
- 1:23:30quick, just to wrap up this saga for the moment.
- 1:23:34Here is 4 News Now's version of the story. North
- 1:23:37Idaho College is officially keeping its accreditation.
- 1:23:40The school has been on probation for the last
- 1:23:42four years. The college credits new trustees
- 1:23:45elected in 2024 with putting the school on the
- 1:23:48right track to get back in compliance with the
- 1:23:51NWCCU. Maintaining accreditation will allow students
- 1:23:55to continue to apply for financial aid, and their
- 1:23:58credits will transfer to other schools. So now
- 1:24:01thank God that our students can continue getting
- 1:24:03themselves into debt they can never get out of.
- 1:24:05What a victory. you would think they were the
- 1:24:30saviors of society or saviors of academics. So
- 1:24:33that's how these, that's how academia behaves.
- 1:24:35They think of themselves as the hero of every
- 1:24:37story. You can't, they are beyond reproach. They
- 1:24:39are beyond criticism. They are the heroes in
- 1:24:42their own story because you just, it's sacrosanct.
- 1:24:45Academia is considered sacrosanct. You can't
- 1:24:47touch it. You can't criticize it, which by the
- 1:24:49way, one of the hallmarks of being able to identify
- 1:24:53a cult is that you were not allowed to criticize
- 1:24:56it. We're ready to move forward, and we are moving
- 1:25:00forward. The far -right Nazis have been ousted,
- 1:25:03thank God, and now that the public voted correctly
- 1:25:05and the establishment is back in power, we can
- 1:25:07release our hostage grip on our pawn. I mean,
- 1:25:10the college... The North Idaho College leadership
- 1:25:12says it is grateful for the community support
- 1:25:15that kept the school from losing accreditation.
- 1:25:18What was that first bit you just played? Is that
- 1:25:20a real... The far -right Nazis have been ousted,
- 1:25:23thank God, and now that the public voted correctly
- 1:25:25and the establishment is back in power, we can
- 1:25:27release our hostage grip on our pawn. I mean,
- 1:25:30the college— The North Idaho College of Leadership—
- 1:25:33Did you put that together? That might have been
- 1:25:34me. I mean, it's believable, though. In a candid
- 1:25:38moment, that is absolutely believable. That's
- 1:25:41what I was wondering. Who the hell said that?
- 1:25:42Now, that's what they're all— that's what they
- 1:25:44all actually think. The reason I put that in
- 1:25:48there, A, was for comedic effect. But B, because
- 1:25:50this is a... For one, it's sort of believable.
- 1:25:54What isn't believable is that Four News Now would
- 1:25:56air it. That somebody would say it to a Four
- 1:25:59News Now camera person and boom my guy? Completely
- 1:26:01plausible. Four News Now would have never aired
- 1:26:03it. This is like something that a Veritas project
- 1:26:05would... you know, would glean. Yes, sit down
- 1:26:08and meet somebody for coffee and pretend to be
- 1:26:10with, you know, I'm on your team. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:26:13The next day it's on the Internet like, look,
- 1:26:14this person thinks you're all a bunch of Nazis.
- 1:26:16Let's find some gay guy who's lonely and then
- 1:26:19send James O 'Keefe out on a date with him and
- 1:26:21then get him to say stuff like what you want
- 1:26:23about James O 'Keefe. I know a lot of people
- 1:26:25don't dig him, but the dude gets some great dirt
- 1:26:27and fantastic. Yeah, I thought you'd like that.
- 1:26:30Well anyway, so all right, NICs, all is well
- 1:26:34in the universe. Thank God. Thank God. I can't
- 1:26:37wait to tell my dad that the college is better
- 1:26:39now without him. Okay, I think I got one or two
- 1:26:43quick ones before we wrap it up. Oh, you know
- 1:26:46what? We actually I'm going to read this because
- 1:26:48we got a real time donation here. Oh, right.
- 1:26:50We really. Yeah, we did. Right now. Yes. So I'm
- 1:26:52going to I'm going to break a little rule here.
- 1:26:54I'm going to do this outside of the value for
- 1:26:56value mid show donation segment because it just
- 1:26:59came in. And I want to make sure that it gets
- 1:27:00included in this week's show. Let's see the spook
- 1:27:05from Spokane. Two two dot two two twenty two
- 1:27:09dollars and twenty two cents a row of ducks from
- 1:27:12the spook from Spokane. Awesome. Thank you. Thank
- 1:27:15you very much. That makes you at least I think
- 1:27:17a two time value for value guy. Yes. Spook from
- 1:27:20Spokane has donated before and he said he said
- 1:27:24good stuff boys. I'm just catching up on Thursday
- 1:27:26show. Paul should get that shit fixed ASAP. Well
- 1:27:29you're in luck. Well I'm in luck. The longer
- 1:27:31tendons go ruptured, the worse the recovery,
- 1:27:33less than 10 days is ideal. And as such, spook
- 1:27:36from Spokane. I have surgery scheduled for tomorrow.
- 1:27:40Praise Jesus. So we are we're on top of it. So
- 1:27:43we thought we should record today before I'm
- 1:27:45out of it for the next week. Exactly. All right.
- 1:27:48So another executive producer for today's show,
- 1:27:50the spook from Spokane. Thank you very kindly.
- 1:27:53Thank you very much, man. We appreciate it a
- 1:27:55lot. All right, yeah, a couple more quick ones.
- 1:27:58Oh, and hey, my offer still stands for anybody,
- 1:28:00by the way. Like, you know, you want to meet
- 1:28:01up for a cigar and a drink. I'm happy to do it.
- 1:28:04Yes, you know, which we should mention. We did
- 1:28:06get to do that with Kevin Killian, another frequent
- 1:28:10donor. And on Saturday, Paul and I got to spend
- 1:28:12some good quality time over some sticks and drinks
- 1:28:14with Kevin. When I say it, I mean it. No lie.
- 1:28:16Like I said it, then I contacted Kevin and we
- 1:28:19did it. It was great. Yeah. A lot of fun meeting
- 1:28:21Kevin. And Kevin is a huge talk radio nerd, just
- 1:28:23like I was, and he grew up on KFI, just like
- 1:28:26I did, and now we just have to get Paul into
- 1:28:28Phil Hendry. That's the next step. All right,
- 1:28:30a couple more quick ones for this week. A new
- 1:28:32bill before the Idaho legislature would make
- 1:28:34it illegal to intentionally disrupt a church
- 1:28:37service. Representative Bruce Scog wants to amend
- 1:28:40Idaho's current statute on disturbing the peace.
- 1:28:43Right now it protects neighborhoods, families,
- 1:28:45individuals, and funerals. Now he wants to add
- 1:28:48religious worship services to that. I remember
- 1:28:51reading once someone was like, some chick was
- 1:28:53like, if you pay me $500, I will show up at your
- 1:28:57funeral wearing all all black holding an umbrella
- 1:28:59and stand sort of away from the crowd. So everyone
- 1:29:02wonders like, man, what did this guy have going
- 1:29:04on? Religious worship services. But she would
- 1:29:07be in violation, I suppose, of this bill. Religious
- 1:29:09worship services. Only if she made a bunch of
- 1:29:10noise and disrupted the service. Right. She specifically
- 1:29:13said she was just going to stand there quietly,
- 1:29:14so maybe not. Religious worship services to that
- 1:29:17list. He says making this change would make the
- 1:29:19law easier for police to enforce if somebody
- 1:29:22maliciously and willfully disturbs a worship
- 1:29:24service. Skogg says he decided to propose this
- 1:29:27change. partly because of what happened when
- 1:29:29anti -ice protesters went into a church in Minnesota.
- 1:29:32Several people were charged with federal charges
- 1:29:34in that situation, including journalist Don Lemon.
- 1:29:39Trespassing is already against the law, so let's
- 1:29:44leave it there. Like, why are we criminal? We're
- 1:29:47just criminalizing things now. In fact, I disagree
- 1:29:49now that I know. I was today years old when I
- 1:29:51learned that apparently it's illegal to disrupt
- 1:29:53a funeral service, too. That's bullshit. If I
- 1:29:54want to disrupt a funeral service, I should be
- 1:29:56allowed to. The guy was an asshole or owed me
- 1:29:58money or both. I should be able to show up and
- 1:30:01be like, yeah, fuck this guy and fuck all of
- 1:30:05you for liking him. Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck
- 1:30:09you. I mean. Would that be in poor taste? Of
- 1:30:12course, absolutely in poor taste. I'm not saying
- 1:30:15we should do it. I'm just saying you shouldn't
- 1:30:17go to jail for doing it and you definitely shouldn't
- 1:30:19go to jail for doing it if you did it. If you're,
- 1:30:21you know, kind of scared of what might happen.
- 1:30:22And so you mask up while climbing because that's
- 1:30:26the thing now, apparently, too, we're trying
- 1:30:28to criminalize crime while climbing with masking
- 1:30:30while climbing. No, because that's coming through
- 1:30:33right now as we speak, Scott, a bill to criminalize
- 1:30:36climbing while wearing a mask. But also at the
- 1:30:40same time, there's a bill going through to make
- 1:30:42it so that police can't wear masks. So, which
- 1:30:46is interesting now that you think about it, now
- 1:30:48that I'm thinking about it, they're trying to
- 1:30:50make it so police can't wear masks and criminals
- 1:30:53can't wear masks. Isn't that interesting? So
- 1:30:55especially when everyone absolutely had to. But
- 1:30:58everybody else has to wear a mask. Lest you be
- 1:31:00unsafe and killing grandma. Yeah, it's weird.
- 1:31:03Killing grandma is a crime too though, Scott.
- 1:31:04Are you sure? Don't we need to pass another law?
- 1:31:06Well, if you have the right paperwork and the
- 1:31:07right costume, you can kill grandma. But I feel
- 1:31:10like we can't kill grandma. If there was a grandma
- 1:31:12killing license and registry that you had to
- 1:31:14apply for. That's called being a health care
- 1:31:16provider. Minnesota. Several people were charged
- 1:31:20with federal charges in that situation, including
- 1:31:23journalist Don Lemon. As no agenda pointed out,
- 1:31:26Don Lemon is not a journalist. Don Lemon is a
- 1:31:28news reader. Don Lemon. I think somebody said
- 1:31:33this is the Don Lemon bill. It's not. You'll
- 1:31:37forgive us. I'm going to build on that and be
- 1:31:39like, this bill is a lemon. Get it out of there.
- 1:31:42It's not, but that may bring. to mind what had
- 1:31:45happened in Minnesota that was so much. Survey
- 1:31:48says that was a lie. Take a look at the video
- 1:31:50of what happened to that church service there.
- 1:31:52This dude saw on the EV news Don Lemon in the
- 1:31:56church and he's like, I'm doing this bill. I'm
- 1:31:58hopping on this train for sure. That is 100 %
- 1:32:00what happened. He's denying it, but survey says
- 1:32:02that was a lie. This is going to definitely help
- 1:32:04me increase my net worth during my time in office.
- 1:32:06It's like a black man in church, not on my watch.
- 1:32:08And how people for political reasons interfered
- 1:32:12with the worship. of a church. And we've had
- 1:32:16some situations like that in Idaho. This is why
- 1:32:19you should just pack heat when you go to church.
- 1:32:22I do. It'd be, you know, some asshole groups
- 1:32:26of assholes storm your church. That's not saying
- 1:32:31you necessarily open up the pew pews, but you
- 1:32:34unsheath that pew pew. And you're like, this
- 1:32:36is the house of God, sir. Don't make me spill
- 1:32:39blood in it. disturbing the peace law which is
- 1:32:41a misdemeanor up to six months in jail and up
- 1:32:45to a one thousand dollar fine the committee ultimately
- 1:32:47voted unanimously to introduce the bill next
- 1:32:50it will go to a committee hearing that is where
- 1:32:52the public will be able to weigh in totally not
- 1:32:55a lemon it's not the don lemon bill though has
- 1:32:57nothing to do well sort of but it's not that's
- 1:32:59not the intention i mean i can see how there'd
- 1:33:00be similarities but just lest you be confused
- 1:33:03this is not the don lemon bill i'm actually I
- 1:33:07shouldn't even be surprised that stuff like this
- 1:33:09is coming up anymore. But that's terrifying.
- 1:33:11Speaking of being able to weaponize laws, how
- 1:33:15are they going to define disruptions? How are
- 1:33:19they going to define disturbing the peace? Which
- 1:33:20for the most part, I disagree with disturbing
- 1:33:22the peace laws to begin with, because they are
- 1:33:24one of the easiest things to weaponize. They
- 1:33:26are one of the easiest things to just stack onto
- 1:33:29a stack of misdemeanors and felonies when they're
- 1:33:31trying to make a point anyways. This is a real
- 1:33:33problem. Churches already have the right to trespass.
- 1:33:35You leave it at that. I'm not saying it's OK
- 1:33:38to disrupt services. I'm not saying it's a good
- 1:33:41thing. But again, why are we giving the government
- 1:33:45more power to stop people from being able to
- 1:33:50assemble? Because when the government has more
- 1:33:52money and power, the weather gets fixed and everyone
- 1:33:54gets protected. Haven't you been paying attention?
- 1:33:56And people behave themselves better because that's
- 1:33:58how it works. People people just, you know, when
- 1:34:00they're told how to act, they just magically.
- 1:34:03behave better. Your debt contractor shows up
- 1:34:06early, leaves late, comes in under budget and
- 1:34:08builds you a beautiful deck because the government
- 1:34:10licensed him. You know, I don't know. This is
- 1:34:12not complicated. I don't know where the confusion
- 1:34:15is. Oh, actually, that's all bad. That's a lemon.
- 1:34:17Pun intended. Bad. Last one for... By the way,
- 1:34:21just because I'm going to cover our asses here,
- 1:34:23I obviously don't support shooting people in
- 1:34:26general, but also in church. You know, I'm, I'm
- 1:34:29making sacrilegious jokes. I am a man of faith.
- 1:34:31I do attend church. I do pack heat in church,
- 1:34:34but it's for, you know, that hopefully never
- 1:34:36ever happens scenario type thing. So, so for
- 1:34:39legal reasons, these are jokes and we're just
- 1:34:42having fun. Laugh. Glad you clarified in the
- 1:34:44words of that crazy. Any, any a gal laugh, say
- 1:34:47the words. Yeah. Okay, where is the least Idaho
- 1:34:53thing? Oh, yeah, I think it was this one. Yes,
- 1:34:58we did. We did save it for last. Here is one
- 1:35:02more Idaho bill thing, and it's going to be the
- 1:35:04source of a sound clip you're going to hear,
- 1:35:06so I want to play it. If you'll forgive me, I'm
- 1:35:09sorry. I know it's more NPR. The Idaho House
- 1:35:12gave the green light on Thursday to a bill that
- 1:35:15would ban cities and counties from passing anti
- 1:35:18-discrimination laws. Only the state legislature
- 1:35:21could adopt an anti -discrimination law under
- 1:35:23the bill, which lawmakers have rejected for more
- 1:35:26than a decade. Several Republicans who support
- 1:35:29the measure, like Representative Clint Hostetler,
- 1:35:31say gay and transgender people are using these
- 1:35:34local ordinances to push their views onto religious
- 1:35:37conservatives. Now you see this is NPR sleight
- 1:35:40of hand. It's perfect sleight of hand where you
- 1:35:43say gay and transgender people and then you say
- 1:35:47onto religious conservatives instead of just
- 1:35:49to push their views on everybody or on people.
- 1:35:52Well, but it's not even it's It's not gay and
- 1:35:54transgender people that are pushing. It's the
- 1:35:56political left. Yes. Most of which are not gay
- 1:35:59or transgender. No, it's actually generally speaking,
- 1:36:01it's straight white women. Exactly. It has it
- 1:36:05has very little to do. Mayor McLean of Boise.
- 1:36:08She's the poster child for that in Idaho right
- 1:36:10now. Oh, yes. Far left. Call me Pinko, mayor
- 1:36:13of Boise. Yeah. Who is who is making a career
- 1:36:15and spending lots of taxpayer money in Boise
- 1:36:18to fight over a flag. so she can, oh man, don't
- 1:36:21even get me started, yeah. Straight white women.
- 1:36:24That's right. It's classic sleight of hand where
- 1:36:27you do, what would you call it, like identity
- 1:36:30group as defined by the mainstream media, LGBTQ,
- 1:36:34transgender, gay, and then you say against a
- 1:36:37political group, the conservatives. Yep. It's
- 1:36:40the political left against the political right.
- 1:36:43But when you do it this way, that's how you,
- 1:36:45that's what we mean, that's what people mean
- 1:36:46when they say identity politics. This is sleight
- 1:36:49of hand, it's bull crap. And by the way, the
- 1:36:51notion that all quote gay and transgender people
- 1:36:54close quote think the same, you freaking bigots
- 1:36:57over there at NPR, who are you kidding? Senator
- 1:36:59Clint Hostetler say gay and transgender people
- 1:37:02are using these local ordinances to push their
- 1:37:05views onto religious conservatives. This isn't
- 1:37:08about acceptance. This is about dominance. And
- 1:37:11I just see this as setting the record straight.
- 1:37:16We cannot abuse or impose the will of anything
- 1:37:19against our faith community. Democratic Representative
- 1:37:23Monica Church and the rest of her party joined
- 1:37:25a handful of GOP lawmakers in opposing it. She
- 1:37:29says it further erodes the state's embrace of
- 1:37:31local control. What is the long term effect of
- 1:37:35voting for a bill that says Cities serve at the
- 1:37:40pleasure of the state. Yikes. That is the only
- 1:37:44thing I have ever. Well, exactly. And now the
- 1:37:48centralization of power all of a sudden gets
- 1:37:50trotted out. Oh, we just love the notion of decentralized
- 1:37:54control. We are the Democrats. I agree. Actually,
- 1:37:57decentralized power is the way to go. And cities
- 1:38:00should be able to dictate this. Anti -discrimination
- 1:38:03laws are absolute rubbish and they're total bullshit.
- 1:38:06But. decentralized power as much as we can obtain,
- 1:38:09it's the way to go. So I actually agree with
- 1:38:11the with the overall, of course, premise of that
- 1:38:14particular argument. It just, of course, a Democrat
- 1:38:16saying the only time that a Democrat and even
- 1:38:19most Republicans, really, frankly, will make
- 1:38:22the argument is when it serves their particular
- 1:38:24ideology. Otherwise, we wouldn't hear from them
- 1:38:26on this at all. Serve at the pleasure of the
- 1:38:30state like if a city proposed, for example, to
- 1:38:34cut the waste management tax by 88 cents per
- 1:38:37person, then all of a sudden they don't give
- 1:38:39a shit about decentralization of power. And the
- 1:38:43state tax commission comes in and goes, you can't
- 1:38:45do that. And I don't hear the Democrats or most
- 1:38:48Republicans going, well, wait a minute. What
- 1:38:49about decentralization of power? It's almost
- 1:38:52like they're inconsistent. It's almost like they're
- 1:38:54inconsistent. Yikes. I agree. Yikes. Here's the
- 1:38:58sound clip. That is the least Idaho thing I have
- 1:39:01ever heard. Idaho's largest county and 12 have
- 1:39:04these laws on the books. The bill now heads to
- 1:39:07a Senate committee for consideration. All right.
- 1:39:10Well, just get ready. You heard that one from
- 1:39:12Democrat church that according to her, that is
- 1:39:15the least Idaho thing we have ever. That is the
- 1:39:17least Idaho thing I have ever heard. Listen to
- 1:39:20the conviction. Great sound bite though. It's
- 1:39:22a fantastic sound bite. But if we're going to
- 1:39:24play that game, allow me to one up you, Mrs.
- 1:39:27Church. Hold my beer. Finally for this week,
- 1:39:31episode number 15, closing out here on No ID.
- 1:39:34Just in case you wanted to get high in the Kootenai
- 1:39:36County Jail, it was entirely possible just a
- 1:39:39few weeks ago, but now... We are following some
- 1:39:42breaking news out of Kootenai County. The Sheriff's
- 1:39:44Office is shaking up how the jail handles legal
- 1:39:47mail. Starting February 23rd, the jail will only
- 1:39:51accept sealed mail through the U .S. Postal Service.
- 1:39:54Before this, people could drop off mail at the
- 1:39:56front desk of the facility. But that's changing
- 1:39:59due to recent overdoses. Back in December...
- 1:40:02Is that how the drugs got through? Through a
- 1:40:03parcel that was just dropped off at the office?
- 1:40:07Isn't that what they... I'm trying to... Did
- 1:40:09they not actually disclose when we did the story
- 1:40:12originally? They did not? No, remember that was
- 1:40:14one of our big questions. Was how this happened?
- 1:40:15Was how they got... the drugs through in the
- 1:40:19first place. Well, you know what, is this a tacit
- 1:40:22admission that it happened through the mail?
- 1:40:23It must be. Yeah, by inference, they either discovered
- 1:40:27that this was the method through which the drugs
- 1:40:30got through. Sorry, bad sentence structure there.
- 1:40:33or they just decided let's close this one and
- 1:40:36narrow it, I don't know, narrow down the variables,
- 1:40:38I guess. Due to recent overdoses, back in December,
- 1:40:41six inmates overdosed on fentanyl. Deputies gave
- 1:40:45them Narcan and took them to the hospital, leaving
- 1:40:47the jail short staffed with six of nine deputies
- 1:40:50taking inmates again to the hospital. A search
- 1:40:53of the jail uncovered fentanyl, and authorities
- 1:40:56arrested a 37 -year -old man for bringing it
- 1:40:59in. The jail says this change only applies to...
- 1:41:02It's illegal mail. Right, so I guess you still
- 1:41:04can sneak it in through a parcel. Yeah, well,
- 1:41:07wait, did they say? For this, people could drop
- 1:41:10off mail at the front desk of the facility. Okay,
- 1:41:12so obviously that's how it came in. Why was that
- 1:41:15ever? Why would you ever? I didn't know you could
- 1:41:17do that. But why not? What's wrong with that?
- 1:41:20Who cares? I don't see a problem with that. Why
- 1:41:22would? Who cares? I, well. Okay, for instance,
- 1:41:26as an example. I've spent a little time in that
- 1:41:30facility. Oh, that's why. It's because you wanted
- 1:41:31to receive contraband. I did. I wanted butt drugs.
- 1:41:34That's what I wanted. My whole premise is based
- 1:41:37on the fact that I wanted butt drugs while I
- 1:41:39was in county jail. Yep. You got me. No. Do you
- 1:41:43want to get high? I did. I did when I was in
- 1:41:46there. It's a terrible place. In all seriousness,
- 1:41:49though, as someone with some experience of that
- 1:41:52process, I live here. My wife lives here. And
- 1:41:55it would have been awesome. if my wife could
- 1:41:57have just gone to the front office and dropped
- 1:41:59me off a book. Yeah. A book. A book. Got it.
- 1:42:04Air quotes. A book. Yes, of course it would have
- 1:42:08been, but I think, I mean, not I think. Do you
- 1:42:10know how hard it is to get a book up your butt
- 1:42:13and like get it through? It's not. But I've heard
- 1:42:16the reading experience is so much more intense
- 1:42:17that way. You know, I might start listening to
- 1:42:21audio books now. What about podcasts? Thumb drives
- 1:42:24are way easier to sneak in. Stick with podcasts
- 1:42:27or Phil Hendry. Yeah So you you've heard it here
- 1:42:31first folks our podcast you could probably smuggle
- 1:42:34it into Coot -N -County Jail You yeah, well,
- 1:42:37but you can't just drop it off at the front No
- 1:42:39send it in via legal legal mail not the illegal
- 1:42:42kind legal kind legal mail definitely legal mail.
- 1:42:45Okay. Well If you have relatives in prison, please
- 1:42:48introduce them to the show. Spread the word,
- 1:42:50Know ID. It's how shows grow and we appreciate
- 1:42:53it a lot. Thank you in advance. Thank you to
- 1:42:55our executive producers this week. Please remember
- 1:42:57us, KnowIDShow .com. The value for value model
- 1:43:01works when you guys embrace it. It's as simple
- 1:43:05as that. Thanks for listening to us, guys. Thank
- 1:43:09you for being here in person, dude. Even though
- 1:43:11the circumstances sucked, I appreciated doing
- 1:43:13the show with you live. It's always so much more
- 1:43:15fun that way. Yeah. Well, between the two cups
- 1:43:16of coffee and being an eight out of 10 on the
- 1:43:18pain scale, I feel like it was pretty hyped.
- 1:43:21It was a good time. It was a good time. All right.
- 1:43:22Well, let's continue the good times. We're going
- 1:43:24to head over to the racketeer for some sticks
- 1:43:26and some legal kind of things and some links.
- 1:43:30And until episode 16 from Post Falls, I'm Scott
- 1:43:34and I'm Paul. Taxation is theft. That is the
- 1:43:47least Idaho thing I have ever heard.
