I just had to mail a package to my cousin in Germany and I totally froze at the counter. Lucas: Oh no, that's the worst feeling. But actually, that's the perfect inspiration for today. Let's learn how to send a package in German. Luna: Yes please! I need this. So where do we start? Lucas: First thing you say at the counter: 'Ich möchte ein Paket schicken.' That means 'I would like to send a package.' Listen again: Ich möchte ein Paket schicken. Luna: Ich möchte ein Paket schicken. Lucas: Good. Now the clerk will ask you something. They might say 'Wohin geht das Paket?' – 'Where is the package going?'. Luna: Wohin geht das Paket? Lucas: Exactly. And you answer with the country. For example, 'Nach Deutschland.' – 'To Germany.' Let's hear that: Nach Deutschland. Luna: Nach Deutschland. Lucas: Perfect. Then they'll weigh it and say the price. You can ask 'Wie viel kostet das?' – 'How much does that cost?'. Luna: Wie viel kostet das? Lucas: Right. And if it's heavy, you might say 'Das ist aber schwer!' – 'That's heavy!' Listen: Das ist aber schwer! Luna: Das ist aber schwer! Lucas: Also, they might ask 'Wie schwer ist es?' – 'How heavy is it?'. Luna: Wie schwer ist es? Lucas: Great. Let's put it all together in a mini scene. I'm the clerk. You walk up to the counter. Luna: Okay. Guten Tag! Ich möchte ein Paket schicken. Lucas: Wohin geht das Paket? Luna: Nach Deutschland. Lucas: Das macht 12 Euro. Wie schwer ist es? Luna: Das ist aber schwer! Zwei Kilo.
