- 0:00Speaker 1: See what happens in Game three. Now game two here
- 0:02Speaker 1: on the anniversary of Roy Halliday throwing a no hitter
- 0:05Speaker 1: in the playoffs, his sons throwing to Carlos Ruiz chooch,
- 0:10Speaker 1: and we saw some great pitching in this one. Snell
- 0:12Speaker 1: On fire early Pedro.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I was really impressed. I thought Otani pitch well,
- 0:19Speaker 2: but man Blake snell is like in mid season form
- 0:23Speaker 2: and knights them fresh, great, youthful the Dodgers.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Scary first inning for Lozardo and then he went crazy.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Get this. Tonight was just the second game in MLB
- 0:32Speaker 1: postseason history that boach starters allowed one hit or less
- 0:36Speaker 1: through six innings.
- 0:37Speaker 2: That was kind of life.
- 0:40Speaker 1: But it all changed and the seventh inning curtis like
- 0:43Speaker 1: it always seems to with a Dodger, there's just.
- 0:45Speaker 3: So many bats there, you know, one MVP after another MVP,
- 0:49Speaker 3: and you just give them opportunities. Eventually somebody's going.
- 0:52Speaker 4: To get a hit.
- 0:52Speaker 3: The thing is they strung those hits together in the
- 0:55Speaker 3: seventh inning like they were able.
- 0:56Speaker 4: To do tonight.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Lozardo's night would end with six innings pitched, five k's,
- 1:01Speaker 1: a broken bat for Key k scores Ti Oscar It
- 1:04Speaker 1: was the Hernandez brothers at.
- 1:06Speaker 4: It yet again, Jero, you know that's one of those players. Look,
- 1:09Speaker 4: it's a tough play. You're coming in. You know you
- 1:11Speaker 4: got to make the throw to get the guy. But
- 1:13Speaker 4: as a shortstop, you have to make that throw up
- 1:17Speaker 4: the line right, give the catcher a chance to catch
- 1:19Speaker 4: the ball and block him off the plate, at least
- 1:20Speaker 4: make a get tag without reaching back across.
- 1:22Speaker 1: It just feels wrong that Will Smith is doing damage
- 1:25Speaker 1: in Philadelphia.
- 1:26Speaker 4: From West Philly.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Cuss, that's what I thought born and raised, But today
- 1:30Speaker 1: he knocks it through. It would then become four to zero.
- 1:33Speaker 1: As the Dodgers were pouring it on. We came down
- 1:36Speaker 1: here at Curtis. We thought it was over, and then
- 1:39Speaker 1: they brought us back in and it's not over to
- 1:41Speaker 1: it's over.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Get runners on cause a little pressure, anything could happen,
- 1:46Speaker 3: and we thought we might see it happen. As this
- 1:50Speaker 3: is getting now down to a one run league.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Castiganos called safe there on what many believe was questionable
- 1:57Speaker 1: base running, and then you could raise this question again.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Bryson Stott lays down the butt thrown out at third.
- 2:04Speaker 4: I see nothing row with that play. I mean you
- 2:06Speaker 4: might get mad, trying to play for the top. But
- 2:08Speaker 4: you're at home. You have to win a ball game.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Put yourself in a position. If we tied this game here,
- 2:13Speaker 4: we can possibly go to extras.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And this heart was in our throats. The skit throw
- 2:18Speaker 1: there to Freeman, he digs it out, he gets the out,
- 2:22Speaker 1: and the Dodgers win both games in Philadelphia. The Dodgers
- 2:27Speaker 1: have now won nine in a row. That begin that
- 2:30Speaker 1: top of the lineup for the Phillies, including Kyle Schwarber,
- 2:33Speaker 1: who is now old for his last twenty one with
- 2:36Speaker 1: thirteen k's, they can't get it done. The comeback falls short,
- 2:40Speaker 1: and the Dodgers have been showing grit. Just ask Blake Snow,
- 2:45Speaker 1: what can you say about the grid of the team.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Just that pick by Freddy the bunt defense.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Will's playing with a broken hand.
- 2:50Speaker 5: Yeah, no, it's unbelievable. And then Montcy on the butnt
- 2:53Speaker 5: Yeah to go three as well. I mean, what a
- 2:56Speaker 5: wild inning. But to play here get two wins in
- 2:59Speaker 5: this environment special and the team's clicking right now. It's
- 3:02Speaker 5: a lot of fun.
- 3:03Speaker 6: It was an impromptu play that I just told Mookie,
- 3:07Speaker 6: you know, you know, his start's gonna bunt he's a
- 3:09Speaker 6: good bunner, and so let's just run a wheel play.
- 3:12Speaker 6: Those guys executed it to perfection, and for me, that
- 3:15Speaker 6: was our only chance really to win that game in
- 3:17Speaker 6: that moment.
- 3:18Speaker 7: I love the fight in the eighth and ninth inning.
- 3:22Speaker 7: They fought like hell and hopefully that carries over into Wednesday.
- 3:26Speaker 7: But this is a resilient group. Our backs are against
- 3:28Speaker 7: the wall. You just got to come out fighting.
- 3:31Speaker 8: Yeah, it doesn't suck that we didn't get a winder, absolutely,
- 3:34Speaker 8: but now we have to go out there. We have
- 3:36Speaker 8: to focus on one game at the time. There's no
- 3:38Speaker 8: looking ahead, right and to make our fight back home
- 3:41Speaker 8: in Philly because we're going to be coming back to
- 3:43Speaker 8: some point and make it worse something.
- 3:47Speaker 1: All Right, So we're out here because we're going to
- 3:49Speaker 1: break down the bunt, which seemed like the pivotal moment
- 3:51Speaker 1: in the game. But first we got to talk about
- 3:53Speaker 1: Blake Snell held the first thirteen batters hit list. What
- 3:57Speaker 1: did you see from his stuff today?
- 3:58Speaker 2: I saw the typical Blake snail when he's healthy, when
- 4:02Speaker 2: when he's own and unfortunate for the Phillies, Uh, this
- 4:07Speaker 2: is the guy that's very deceiving, has outstanding stuff was
- 4:11Speaker 2: mixing in his pitches, and I think he learned something
- 4:14Speaker 2: from Altani because I saw him take pretty much the
- 4:18Speaker 2: same approach against some of the same.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Guys, attacking the strikes, lacking the strikes.
- 4:22Speaker 2: On in certain areas. This is a good time for
- 4:25Speaker 2: vide on turner, a lot of change ups on shover,
- 4:30Speaker 2: start him off inside, finish him late on the outside
- 4:33Speaker 2: part of the play. That's what Ottani was doing, and
- 4:35Speaker 2: with breaking stuff he was really executing today. A guy,
- 4:40Speaker 2: like I said, over the top, really deceiving heart to
- 4:44Speaker 2: center and Philadelphia did not do a good job of
- 4:47Speaker 2: putting the balls in play against a guy that's normally taught,
- 4:51Speaker 2: and then you strike out that many times, twenty four times.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I think it was that they struck out in the
- 4:58Speaker 2: in the last two games.
- 5:00Speaker 4: That's point.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Too many strikeouts. You can never overcome that against a
- 5:04Speaker 2: good team like the Dodgers, and especially having guys like
- 5:07Speaker 2: Blakesmail do what he did tonight.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Heading into that ninth inning, batters two through six for
- 5:13Speaker 1: the Phillies. So this is Schwarber, Harper, boem Real, Muto,
- 5:18Speaker 1: and castianos Oer for fifteen with five k's. Now the
- 5:22Speaker 1: ninth inning, they came alive. So let's check out tonight's
- 5:25Speaker 1: all heart moment presented by Thriving, because it's the one
- 5:28Speaker 1: that everyone's been talking about. Philly started off going single
- 5:32Speaker 1: double double shows a butt, Jimmy, what are you seeing here?
- 5:36Speaker 4: Well, what should happen is that on that first pitch?
- 5:41Speaker 4: What is this play? Where the second? So the will
- 5:44Speaker 4: play means we're giving up second base, right, We're gonna
- 5:47Speaker 4: take our chance and get the out at their worst
- 5:49Speaker 4: case scenario, he's safe. We get the out at first gotcha.
- 5:52Speaker 4: But as a base runner, you have to see what's
- 5:55Speaker 4: going on. Mookie isn't really holding him on. He's just
- 5:58Speaker 4: kind of standing right there behind him. And what I
- 6:00Speaker 4: didn't like about his lead is Castianos went straight out.
- 6:04Speaker 4: You're always taught at second base. When you take your lead,
- 6:07Speaker 4: you walk towards the shortstop. It looks like Movie's as right,
- 6:12Speaker 4: and you're almost at you see and at that position,
- 6:14Speaker 4: he can feel Mookie, he can hear Muki. When Mooki moves,
- 6:17Speaker 4: you move with him. But remember there's no force play.
- 6:20Speaker 4: There's no force player at thirst gotta tag you. He
- 6:23Speaker 4: has to tag you at third. So they're giving up
- 6:26Speaker 4: second base. That means I can get as far as
- 6:28Speaker 4: I can because no one's going to be at second base.
- 6:31Speaker 4: I can always get back. He didn't do that. He
- 6:33Speaker 4: was just kind of sitting there, almost like there was
- 6:35Speaker 4: no game plans like what to do If I can
- 6:38Speaker 4: If I can read this bunt and it's and it's short,
- 6:41Speaker 4: I can always get. I mean, and it's short, and
- 6:43Speaker 4: I can get there. I can get. If not, I
- 6:45Speaker 4: can go back. I can dictate a lot of things
- 6:48Speaker 4: as a runner if I take this lead. As I'm
- 6:51Speaker 4: coming back, Curtis are he sold me on? Okay? Perfect?
- 6:53Speaker 4: The bag is here. They can't pick me off. Third
- 6:55Speaker 4: base coach is watching the second baseman. I have my
- 6:57Speaker 4: eyes on him because he's probably already away from me
- 6:59Speaker 4: because he has to get the first. So I'm going
- 7:02Speaker 4: to walk back, and I want to see exactly where
- 7:04Speaker 4: Curtis is. If there's a pick two things, he's gonna
- 7:08Speaker 4: have to go around me, and I can just cut
- 7:11Speaker 4: him off right here because if he bumps me, if
- 7:13Speaker 4: he bumps me, I get the advance a third. But also,
- 7:16Speaker 4: as a play goes on, if I'm here, I'm standing here,
- 7:19Speaker 4: I'm not worried. About the pick a second. As Mooki
- 7:21Speaker 4: is hitting there and the pitcher list's leg I can
- 7:24Speaker 4: see the ball in the strike zone. I have to
- 7:27Speaker 4: anticipate he's going to bunt that pitch, and with no
- 7:30Speaker 4: one at second base, I can get down as far
- 7:32Speaker 4: as I can. The catcher is not going to run
- 7:35Speaker 4: back and try to get me a second base. So
- 7:37Speaker 4: as Mookie starts to take off and he goes, I'm
- 7:39Speaker 4: going right there with him as fast as I can,
- 7:41Speaker 4: as far as I can, because I do want to
- 7:42Speaker 4: get the third. But if I see that Mooki's four
- 7:46Speaker 4: or five steps ahead of me, I can hit on
- 7:48Speaker 4: the brakes hurt. They're going to Yale third, because that's
- 7:51Speaker 4: what it looks like I'm doing. Yes, I can go
- 7:53Speaker 4: back the second. Now he's runners on first and second
- 7:56Speaker 4: and nobody out. But the most important thing for those
- 7:59Speaker 4: out there base when you're on second base, find the shortstop.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Your third base coach is gonna take the second basement.
- 8:05Speaker 4: We're not worried about to pick. They showed us on
- 8:07Speaker 4: the first pitch what exactly they're doing. They're crashing. Find
- 8:11Speaker 4: the shortstop, get in his face. I want to feel
- 8:13Speaker 4: you what's going on? Curtis you good, okay. The only
- 8:17Speaker 4: way he can pick me is by running through me.
- 8:19Speaker 4: If he runs through me, I get a free advance.
- 8:22Speaker 4: But that way, like I said, I want to feel
- 8:24Speaker 4: you deep as deep as you want to. You can
- 8:27Speaker 4: take a deep You could take a lead to center
- 8:29Speaker 4: field if you like now you get get picked off.
- 8:31Speaker 4: But you can't do that. They tell you to come deep,
- 8:34Speaker 4: get right next to me. And as a shortstop if
- 8:36Speaker 4: we if we were reversed, if you do that, I'm
- 8:39Speaker 4: gonna play with you. I'm gonna mess with it. You
- 8:41Speaker 4: come back towards me, just to get you thinking I
- 8:44Speaker 4: might go there because I have to beat you here.
- 8:46Speaker 4: And if you're and if you're deep, you're changing my
- 8:49Speaker 4: angle to third. I can't run straight across the deeper
- 8:53Speaker 4: you get. Either have to try to get you to
- 8:55Speaker 4: come back, or I'm gonna have to stay screening. And
- 8:58Speaker 4: as a third basement, if you see the runner coming
- 9:00Speaker 4: along with me and I'm looking like this, guess what.
- 9:03Speaker 4: You're not making that throw. You are not making that throw.
- 9:06Speaker 4: So there's a lot of things you could have done.
- 9:07Speaker 1: A lot of people are questioning Rob Thompson right now
- 9:10Speaker 1: in terms of bunting at all. What I guys that
- 9:13Speaker 1: you guys are still with the decision to bunt.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Dave Roberts said, we knew he was bunting. That's why
- 9:19Speaker 3: they called the play.
- 9:20Speaker 4: The reason they knew.
- 9:21Speaker 3: He was bunting is because you have stopped facing a lefty.
- 9:24Speaker 3: He's zero for five against him. His ops against lefties
- 9:28Speaker 3: on the season is that high.
- 9:29Speaker 1: It's like six hundred.
- 9:31Speaker 4: I think you need to get the runner to third base.
- 9:33Speaker 3: You need to get him ninety with no outs.
- 9:35Speaker 1: And then you can put yourself. So you're saying it's
- 9:37Speaker 1: less about the decision to bunt and more of the
- 9:40Speaker 1: reading of the base. Running hundred percent, you can always
- 9:43Speaker 1: go to the secondary and it could be second.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I can get, I can get as far as I
- 9:47Speaker 4: can if I see the throw is going to beat
- 9:49Speaker 4: me because he was out by good ways. But at
- 9:52Speaker 4: some point one I see the ball in his own,
- 9:54Speaker 4: I'm anticipated he was taking his lead. The ball was
- 9:57Speaker 4: coming in his own and he was breaking down to
- 9:59Speaker 4: read if the bunt was going to get down. There's
- 10:01Speaker 4: no reason to because there's no one a second. Even
- 10:03Speaker 4: if he pops it up. Guess what, so everybody, no
- 10:05Speaker 4: one's going to be a second. Everybody's going to be
- 10:07Speaker 4: in here trying to catch the ball. Right, there's nothing.
- 10:10Speaker 4: He took a normal lead, just like the normal you know,
- 10:12Speaker 4: the normal lead. Just here. I am just chilling. Okay.
- 10:16Speaker 4: He comes to bunt and he kind of gets there
- 10:18Speaker 4: and does normally stuff. Not any effort really really true,
- 10:22Speaker 4: great effort to get the third easy. And if even
- 10:26Speaker 4: if you're just gonna take let's just say you just
- 10:27Speaker 4: take a normally without going deep. But you always should.
- 10:30Speaker 4: As soon as he breaks, knowing no one's there, run
- 10:33Speaker 4: as far down as you can. If it gets back stop,
- 10:36Speaker 4: no one's at second base, you can walk to second base.
- 10:39Speaker 1: It's everything you're talking about right now. Is base running
- 10:42Speaker 1: game plan?
- 10:42Speaker 4: Yes?
- 10:43Speaker 1: And that was also because you were a great base
- 10:44Speaker 1: runner and you stole a ton of bases. Nick kind
- 10:47Speaker 1: of looked like someone that hasn't had a game plan
- 10:50Speaker 1: when it runs the basis like and that.
- 10:52Speaker 4: It didn't look like he had a game plan off them. Yeah,
- 10:55Speaker 4: and that that was big. You can always go back,
- 10:58Speaker 4: there's no force. You can go back.
- 11:00Speaker 1: You can always have gone back to second
