- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everybody, Brian Smith here with the I&Team series and your daily influence.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: Today is Memorial Day and I'm going to try to keep this amazingly brief.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think that Memorial Day is one of the most important days of the year.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's today that we memorialize that we have gratitude for, thankful for.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: all of those people who have sacrificed to give us around the world, the freedom that some of us, or many of us enjoy.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, not here to argue what freedom means to each person.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: What I'm here to influence you to do is to slow down, stop for a moment, and remember.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: that there are people who believed in freedom, that believed in what they were doing for us.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Now for themselves, not for anybody else, but for us.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: They're fellow countrymen and they gave the ultimate sacrifice.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: Regardless of how you feel,
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: about why they did that or when they did that or who led them to do it.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: In our country, most of those people are volunteers.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: They are there with purpose.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: They are there for a very definitive reason they chose to be there to support our way of life.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: And for many of us that
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: to the people who give that sacrifice, they do it for that freedom, for our ability to have differences, for our right to define freedom differently, for our right to free speech, for our right to vote, for our right to have more immigrants, more diversity than any other country in the world.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: they fought for that.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: And we owe them more than just a moment, more than just a day, understanding how hectic life is, take this moment while you're with friends while you're with family, having your barbecue's kicking off summer and remember what this day was intended for.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: It was intended to honor those.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: who gave it all for us, period.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Everything else after that, you can enjoy, but make that the foundation of your day.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you enjoy your Memorial Day, take that pause, have gratitude, express your gratitude, feel that gratitude, and then go on and join the freedom that you have because of those sacrifices.
