- 0:05Speaker 1: Now you know what I haven't done this week. I
- 0:07Speaker 1: haven't brought snacks, so you have my full attention.
- 0:11Speaker 2: How are you going to survive an hour without food? Oh?
- 0:14Speaker 2: No way, I just found just found a fun sized
- 0:17Speaker 2: Mars bar. Carry on. Yeah, how are you?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Oh?
- 0:21Speaker 3: Just wonderful, absolutely wonderful.
- 0:23Speaker 1: You say that with such contempt that you're here just
- 0:26Speaker 1: because I pay you in shitty NFTs.
- 0:29Speaker 2: They'll be worth something one day, one day. How's your
- 0:32Speaker 2: NFT collection going?
- 0:33Speaker 4: It's growing slowly. It's currently weighed down by Yundai NFTs.
- 0:37Speaker 4: I bought a bunch of those and they've become effectively worthless.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that's saying something, is it?
- 0:43Speaker 2: What struck you about the yun Day n FT? I
- 0:46Speaker 2: don't know. I just thought i'd buy some.
- 0:48Speaker 1: When you've got that much cash, you can kind of go.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I think I might just buy some.
- 0:52Speaker 4: Yes, well it was a disaster, Yeah, an absolute disaster.
- 0:56Speaker 3: But anyway, what did you buy?
- 0:58Speaker 2: Like? What? It was a pictures or something?
- 1:01Speaker 4: It's so stupid they I'm probably just embarrassed to say.
- 1:05Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm to open them up so you can
- 1:07Speaker 4: see that.
- 1:08Speaker 2: What this looks like.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Because when I was buying them, I thought, oh, this
- 1:12Speaker 4: is obviously going to be, you know, some cool thing
- 1:15Speaker 4: that's that's interesting and fun. And then they released it
- 1:20Speaker 4: and I was like, what it's a it's a buggy
- 1:26Speaker 4: with a leaf growing out of it. The car company
- 1:32Speaker 4: has launched in an FT collection that has zero to
- 1:36Speaker 4: do with their cars.
- 1:37Speaker 2: And so you bought that before they released it.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Yeah, So the way that works is there was part
- 1:43Speaker 4: of a collection, so I bought five of them. Then
- 1:46Speaker 4: they they mint and then they turned into these things.
- 1:52Speaker 4: So yeah, that that's what it became. But then what
- 1:54Speaker 4: happened was every person, every person that had one of
- 1:57Speaker 4: those then got an ironic, which was much much better.
- 2:04Speaker 4: But yeah, they've just they are effectively worthless at the moment.
- 2:10Speaker 2: So what do you do with that? Do you just
- 2:12Speaker 2: keep it on your hard drive? Dear? Talk about it
- 2:14Speaker 2: on the Drive show? Yeah? Do you have it like
- 2:17Speaker 2: displayed or anything like that.
- 2:19Speaker 4: As part of an online collection? So I've got my
- 2:20Speaker 4: other NFTs in there as well.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So out of all the wonkiest things you've said, that
- 2:28Speaker 1: is that is up the top?
- 2:30Speaker 2: Can we put that one on the whiteboard? Well, why
- 2:32Speaker 2: don't you make it an n FT? Make one an
- 2:35Speaker 2: NFT with a discussion. Can you do that? Yeah, of course.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Could we make this podcast an NFT? You could? Could
- 2:43Speaker 2: we make our logo and n FT as you could?
- 2:45Speaker 4: You could make anything an n FT. It's a non
- 2:48Speaker 4: fungible token. It can be anything.
- 2:50Speaker 2: From now on.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I'm selling my dig pics NFTs. It's a non refundable
- 2:55Speaker 1: token of my approngible whatever.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I don't even care. Look at me with my NFT collection.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I wish I did. I genuinely don't understand it. I
- 3:08Speaker 1: just I can't wrap my head around.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Don't fear it because you don't understand it. This stuff
- 3:13Speaker 4: will be the future. You're you're keen on that, aren't you.
- 3:17Speaker 4: You genuinely believe that.
- 3:18Speaker 3: But I just think it's I think it's interesting.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Like one of the one of the guys that I like,
- 3:22Speaker 4: Lush Sucks, who does murals and stuff.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yes, he often.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Releases n FTS, and I bought a whole bunch of
- 3:28Speaker 2: his stuff. Oh did you?
- 3:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I see that I would buy yah stuff's cool. Yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 4: his stuff is actually cool. I'll show you again, pointless
- 3:35Speaker 4: for how much?
- 3:36Speaker 1: How much would his NFTs go for? How much would
- 3:38Speaker 1: you buy an NFT from lush sucks.
- 3:40Speaker 3: It just depends.
- 3:41Speaker 4: So he basically paints them on a wall and then
- 3:44Speaker 4: will animate them. So that one was is that the
- 3:47Speaker 4: Elon one? Yes, this is a limited edition. It just
- 3:50Speaker 4: depends some of you know, some have sold for hundreds
- 3:54Speaker 4: of thousands, some have sold for thousands. It just depends
- 3:58Speaker 4: which one you get, and how much are you actually
- 4:00Speaker 4: parting with?
- 4:01Speaker 2: Just tell me, just tell me how much is an
- 4:03Speaker 2: nflush sucks? Before grand Wow? Just don't tell my wife.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I was gonna say, do you know what, You're probably
- 4:13Speaker 1: gonna have to sell off a few n f t
- 4:14Speaker 1: s when you get a divorce lawyer.
- 4:16Speaker 4: The problem is they're not worth that much anymore, which
- 4:19Speaker 4: is good because now that the government spies on everything
- 4:21Speaker 4: that you do, you can make a loss on them
- 4:24Speaker 4: and reduce your taxable income.
- 4:25Speaker 2: But anyway, this is a car This.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Is a car podcast. And I don't I don't get
- 4:30Speaker 1: what you're talking about. But likes Gordon, I don't do
- 4:33Speaker 1: any I should do investments with a name like Gordon,
- 4:36Speaker 1: I should do more investments.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Are you're saying that while you're holding a hot cup
- 4:40Speaker 4: of tea, like I'm.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Just going to invest in I'm going to go do
- 4:44Speaker 1: some investments, gazz I'll talk to you later. Hey, can
- 4:48Speaker 1: I bring up some really cool cars? I've seen this
- 4:49Speaker 1: race Go Mini have released.
- 4:53Speaker 2: It's automatically not cool. Okay, it's automatically not cool. I
- 4:56Speaker 2: like minnis, isn'tka you would? Yeah? Whatever? I used to
- 5:00Speaker 2: own one. I loved it. I did, I did.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I had like a It was a white Coopers and
- 5:06Speaker 1: it had wood grain interior and like the they called
- 5:11Speaker 1: it British lounge green on the seats.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Oh it's great car. I'm gonna have to leave whatever nerd.
- 5:24Speaker 1: So we've heard of the Mini Clubmen, and now they've
- 5:28Speaker 1: released the Mini Acemen Acemen.
- 5:32Speaker 3: How have I not seen this?
- 5:34Speaker 1: Oh? Right, it should be called the Mini Seamen. It's
- 5:40Speaker 1: quite an interesting looking mini.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Look at those Yeah, that's there's a lot. It's got
- 5:44Speaker 2: some neon lights on the front. Fully electric concepts.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Yeah, have a look at the interior of this, to
- 5:50Speaker 1: kind of paint the picture. You're looking at a steering
- 5:52Speaker 1: wheel that looks In fact, the entire interior looks like
- 5:56Speaker 1: it's been done by the Country Women's Association knitting sector.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Look what I mean?
- 6:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that is odd, that's crazy.
- 6:05Speaker 4: It is a concept though normally, yeah, especially with Minis,
- 6:08Speaker 4: they take the concept and then it looks nothing like
- 6:10Speaker 4: it when it's launched. They actually, the new Mini Cooper
- 6:14Speaker 4: was leaked a while back, like as in, when was it,
- 6:18Speaker 4: I'm just trying to find Yeah, this was back in
- 6:22Speaker 4: December twenty twenty one, and this is a car that
- 6:24Speaker 4: isn't meant to be revealed until next year. So that
- 6:27Speaker 4: concept they revealed is of this car. But for some reason,
- 6:31Speaker 4: someone parked one somewhere completely undisguised.
- 6:35Speaker 2: I think if it was perhaps in China or something
- 6:37Speaker 2: like that.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Yeah, spoted testing in China, and normally they have all
- 6:41Speaker 4: the disguised on them so you can't see anything. This
- 6:43Speaker 4: one was completely undisguised in some car park somewhere, and
- 6:46Speaker 4: someone's taken a whole bunch of photos of it two
- 6:48Speaker 4: years ahead of its release, which is a pretty big deal.
- 6:51Speaker 3: That's crazy, that's bad.
- 6:53Speaker 4: So yeah, it's funny that they're still bothering with the
- 6:57Speaker 4: concept when we all know what it looks like and
- 6:59Speaker 4: it looks nothing like like that.
- 7:00Speaker 3: No, I don't know.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I just the thing I've always loved about Mini is
- 7:06Speaker 1: they're very they're quirky to say, at the least and
- 7:09Speaker 1: the everything from design exterior to interior and stuff. I
- 7:14Speaker 1: just I like how they're almost brave about it and.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Not like by D.
- 7:21Speaker 3: With podcasts.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Do you just like on Instagram when you do a
- 7:24Speaker 4: sponsored post that's an ad? Do you have to say
- 7:26Speaker 4: that it's an ad just because you'd be getting paid
- 7:29Speaker 4: by BYD right, just.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Because of I am not getting paid by anyone?
- 7:33Speaker 1: Podcast is to shit on people in your industry. Hey,
- 7:38Speaker 1: do you know what's a great car and it's sort
- 7:40Speaker 1: of BYD?
- 7:42Speaker 2: Yeah? Do you know there was?
- 7:46Speaker 1: There's no there's this car that sort of flew under
- 7:48Speaker 1: the radar for me for a long time, and I've
- 7:50Speaker 1: recently just sort of started looking into it a lot
- 7:53Speaker 1: more and like realizing how much of a cool car
- 7:57Speaker 1: it is. Is the Lucid Air Oh yeah, Like it's
- 8:00Speaker 1: effectively a Silicon Valley style EV that's just.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Come to fruition and it is proper quick. Yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 4: When I was in the state seeing January, I went
- 8:09Speaker 4: to check them out at their showroom thing and I
- 8:11Speaker 4: saw one on the street as well.
- 8:13Speaker 2: They look so cool in person.
- 8:14Speaker 4: They're like a super long luxury sit and they're incredibly fast.
- 8:18Speaker 4: They actually drove one up the hill at Goodwood with
- 8:21Speaker 4: Ben Collins, who used to be the original stig for
- 8:23Speaker 4: Top Kit. Oh yep, and he was absolutely hammering this thing.
- 8:28Speaker 4: So it is a capable car.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah. I think they're fantastic and the interior looks incredible too,
- 8:34Speaker 2: So yeah, A huge fan of them. Any idea if
- 8:37Speaker 2: they'll come here?
- 8:39Speaker 3: Look, I do hope so.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Rivian, for example, said that they were building right hand
- 8:42Speaker 4: drive versions of the Ute and the Suv. But I think,
- 8:46Speaker 4: just like Rivian, they have so much stock shortage that
- 8:50Speaker 4: it's impossible for them to scale at any great rate
- 8:53Speaker 4: that Australia would be considered a key market. You'd go
- 8:55Speaker 4: to Europe first the UK for right hand drive before
- 8:58Speaker 4: you come anywhere near Australia.
- 9:00Speaker 3: But I am hopeful if it does go to the UK.
- 9:02Speaker 4: We're seeing stuff like Mustang Marquee is now sold as
- 9:06Speaker 4: a right hand drive in the UK. They've announced it's
- 9:08Speaker 4: going to New Zealand. Hopefully that means what will be
- 9:10Speaker 4: coming to Australia.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, if it's going to New Zealand, you never know.
- 9:15Speaker 1: That Mustang Marquee, that electric What are your take on?
- 9:18Speaker 1: What's your take on that?
- 9:19Speaker 4: I didn't love it in pictures, but again when I
- 9:21Speaker 4: was in the States and I saw one in person,
- 9:23Speaker 4: they actually look really cool.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Yeah right, yeah, it's weird.
- 9:26Speaker 2: In pictures it just looks so stupid terrible. Yeah, in
- 9:29Speaker 2: person it looked great.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I saw a blue one and it looked fantastic.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yeah to me, Like first glance, I was like, why
- 9:34Speaker 1: are they even bothering like aligning this with Mustang?
- 9:37Speaker 2: You know what I mean? I think Mustang.
- 9:39Speaker 4: They said they'll have two separate divisions of forward, so
- 9:42Speaker 4: I think each each vehicle, like f on fifty, they'll
- 9:44Speaker 4: be the lightning the EV and then you've got the
- 9:46Speaker 4: normal f on fifty Mustang will be the same.
- 9:48Speaker 2: You got the internal combustion money and then you have
- 9:50Speaker 2: the EV version as well. Yeah, very cool. We should
- 9:54Speaker 2: talk news, Yes, let's do that. So guess what fuel.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Is going to get more EXPENSI and cleaner apparently, Yeah,
- 10:02Speaker 4: but don't think more expensive is the bit that everyone's
- 10:05Speaker 4: concerned about. So this is a bit of a technical discussion.
- 10:08Speaker 4: So I know that you don't like using your brain
- 10:10Speaker 4: on a Saturday, but here it is. Anyway, in Australia
- 10:14Speaker 4: at the moment, diesel fuel from around I think it
- 10:16Speaker 4: was two thousand and oh, sorry, two thousand and nine,
- 10:20Speaker 4: YEP has had a sulfur limit. So sulfur is stuff
- 10:25Speaker 4: in fuel that is toxic and bad for your health,
- 10:29Speaker 4: and it's also bad for engines as well. So diesel
- 10:32Speaker 4: fuel in Australia has been first world quality since two
- 10:36Speaker 4: thousand and nine, but our unleaded fuel has been ranked
- 10:40Speaker 4: amongst third world countries for its sulfur content, So we
- 10:44Speaker 4: have incredibly low quality fuel.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Sorry, let me just pause you. Is that is that
- 10:49Speaker 2: Australia only?
- 10:51Speaker 4: Yeah, so, well, Australia's standards, so the standards for the fuel,
- 10:56Speaker 4: So in Australia you can have unleaded fuel with up
- 10:59Speaker 4: to one hundred and fifty parts per million of sulfur,
- 11:04Speaker 4: so since two thousand and five, that's where it was
- 11:06Speaker 4: capped at, and that was a long time ago. Europe,
- 11:09Speaker 4: for example, is moving to they're currently a ten parts
- 11:13Speaker 4: per million, but they're moving to a stricter standard from
- 11:15Speaker 4: twenty twenty five. So we are so far behind that
- 11:18Speaker 4: it's not even funny. So well, the government, the previous
- 11:21Speaker 4: government came out and said that from twenty twenty seven
- 11:24Speaker 4: they're going to be changing that to be better quality.
- 11:28Speaker 4: The new government that's come in has taken over that
- 11:30Speaker 4: and they're now pushing it through to twenty twenty four.
- 11:33Speaker 2: So from twenty.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Twenty four we will have a cap of fifty parts
- 11:37Speaker 4: per million on sulfur content. Now, the reason this is
- 11:39Speaker 4: important is because in Europe, where they have this good
- 11:43Speaker 4: fuel standard, they're able to sell cars there that are
- 11:46Speaker 4: efficient and have new technologies in them. But then when
- 11:49Speaker 4: they go to Australia, they're like, well, if we release
- 11:52Speaker 4: that engine in Australia and then it runs on ninety
- 11:54Speaker 4: one rong fuel with high sulfur content, the engine will
- 11:57Speaker 4: basically shit itself after fifty thousand k's.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Remember the problem with the diesel filters we had here.
- 12:03Speaker 4: This is unrelated to that, but that is the reason
- 12:06Speaker 4: why we've been getting some cars with pretty average engines
- 12:09Speaker 4: in Australia. So that will all change when the fuel
- 12:12Speaker 4: standard changes. But the problem is the reason I say
- 12:14Speaker 4: it's going to get more expensive. The government claims, which
- 12:17Speaker 4: I think it's just ridiculous, it's going to cost them
- 12:19Speaker 4: almost a billion dollars to fix this problem, which is
- 12:24Speaker 4: getting this better quality fuel, and they claim that it
- 12:26Speaker 4: will increase the cost of fuel by zero point six
- 12:30Speaker 4: to one cent per liter.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Or an average of I'm quoting your website here, eight
- 12:35Speaker 1: dollars perhaps household over three years.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I'll tell you why. I think that's complete bullshit.
- 12:40Speaker 4: If you release a product that is much higher quality,
- 12:45Speaker 4: is it fuel stations even fling over a billion dollars
- 12:49Speaker 4: like fuel stations at the moment with the government cutting
- 12:52Speaker 4: the excise in half, they're still gouging the shit out
- 12:54Speaker 4: of everyone, even though they don't need to be. Even
- 12:56Speaker 4: though oil prices have come down to before well and
- 12:59Speaker 4: true before their peak. The reason I think it's going
- 13:03Speaker 4: to get more expensive is New Zealand already has these standards,
- 13:06Speaker 4: and during the fuel crisis that we had recently in
- 13:09Speaker 4: New Zealand, they were paying over three dollars a leter
- 13:11Speaker 4: for fuel.
- 13:12Speaker 3: So I think our fuel is going.
- 13:14Speaker 4: To get significantly more expensive when it's fixed. If you
- 13:17Speaker 4: look at the price of fuel in the UK, it
- 13:20Speaker 4: is way more expensive than it is here.
- 13:23Speaker 3: They are bulk buyers of we headed Field.
- 13:25Speaker 1: We have bitched about the price of petrol in this
- 13:28Speaker 1: country for a long time, but do you know what
- 13:30Speaker 1: we're actually done. We've actually had a pretty good We've
- 13:34Speaker 1: actually had a. We've actually had it pretty good.
- 13:37Speaker 4: We have, so yeah, look, I think that this is
- 13:39Speaker 4: a good move because it's going to make for cleaner air,
- 13:42Speaker 4: better engines, and all that sort of stuff. But ultimately
- 13:44Speaker 4: it's going to be the consumer that pays for it,
- 13:45Speaker 4: because oil companies are greedy, retailers are greedy, and they're
- 13:49Speaker 4: going to try and get as much as they can
- 13:51Speaker 4: out of you, the average consumer.
- 13:53Speaker 1: And this will roll into the narrative of cost of
- 13:56Speaker 1: living and all that sort of stuff, and there'll be
- 13:59Speaker 1: more bloody, there'll be a bigger push for evs and
- 14:03Speaker 1: you know.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Now, how do you like the sound of this?
- 14:06Speaker 2: An off road version of the Lamborghini Hourrican? Oh? I
- 14:11Speaker 2: think I saw this? Did they release pictures of this?
- 14:14Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like a little video of a concept car.
- 14:17Speaker 2: It's going to be called the Hurrican Strato or stradat
- 14:21Speaker 2: or if you're Italian and racist, like hurricane with a
- 14:26Speaker 2: like an hurricane.
- 14:27Speaker 4: No, it doesn't have an E on the end, so
- 14:29Speaker 4: it's not Hurricane socan hurrican.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you. Though, this is basically can you say
- 14:34Speaker 2: it with an Italian accent? Give it a go?
- 14:37Speaker 3: Hey ho Acan.
- 14:39Speaker 4: That's that's so it's an all terrain version of the
- 14:43Speaker 4: hood Kan and I think this thing is going to
- 14:46Speaker 4: be so cool. So the concept had a raise suspension
- 14:49Speaker 4: of forty seven millimeters that the sort of con concept
- 14:54Speaker 4: that they launched was called Beyond the Concrete, and it
- 14:57Speaker 4: was this thing just belting through some gravel roads with
- 14:59Speaker 4: these dirty, big driving lamps on the front. This is
- 15:02Speaker 4: going to be insane, is there. Yeah, that's it's just
- 15:05Speaker 4: going to be insane.
- 15:06Speaker 3: And I think that this car is.
- 15:09Speaker 2: So cool.
- 15:10Speaker 4: It's going to be signing off the V ten engine
- 15:12Speaker 4: for the Huricans, so it'll be one of the last
- 15:15Speaker 4: cars you can get with this enormous engine before you know,
- 15:18Speaker 4: before EV's a mandated and all this sort of stuff
- 15:20Speaker 4: happens that just makes these cars disappear.
- 15:23Speaker 1: So you know that that is like a Dubai Special,
- 15:25Speaker 1: that car that is just going to.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Be that'll be carve up sand dunes, that'll.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Be there'll be some legends just driving that thing like
- 15:32Speaker 1: there's no tomorrow.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Yeah, God, that looks good, it does. It looks like
- 15:37Speaker 2: a hell of a lot of fun.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks bloody awesome.
- 15:39Speaker 4: So Lambaghini's actually working on a few other cars, so
- 15:41Speaker 4: they're doing a plug in hybrid version of the Urus
- 15:44Speaker 4: as well, so hopefully it'll be a little better than
- 15:46Speaker 4: the mghs we spoke about a couple of weeks ago,
- 15:50Speaker 4: and they're also doing a car called the Urus Evo,
- 15:53Speaker 4: which is a faster version of the SUV. So yeah,
- 15:58Speaker 4: the SUV, I don't know. I've seen a few round
- 16:00Speaker 4: but not as many as I thought I would. I
- 16:02Speaker 4: don't think the Euros has been all that popular.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I like them. They're very much. You either love them
- 16:08Speaker 1: or hate them. So of car, yeap, what I haven't looked.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I haven't driven one. I've sat in one, but I
- 16:12Speaker 1: haven't driven it. What were your impressions of driving it?
- 16:15Speaker 4: Look, it's the problem is it's based on the Q
- 16:18Speaker 4: seven platforms, so Cayenne is off that platform to reg
- 16:22Speaker 4: so they are kind of limited in terms of what
- 16:24Speaker 4: they can do with it. And it is cool, it's
- 16:26Speaker 4: got that lambeau vibe to it, but.
- 16:28Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 16:29Speaker 4: I think i'd be just buying a rain driver, sport
- 16:32Speaker 4: SVR or something that that just feels like a more
- 16:35Speaker 4: engaging su It actually has room inside.
- 16:37Speaker 3: The URS is pretty cramped.
- 16:39Speaker 2: It's not a very good suv, so.
- 16:41Speaker 1: It doesn't look as good like your land drove doesn't
- 16:43Speaker 1: look as cool. Rain drove doesn't look.
- 16:44Speaker 2: As cool, doesn't.
- 16:45Speaker 4: But I just think it'll age better and it's just
- 16:47Speaker 4: classier as funny as that is to say.
- 16:50Speaker 1: But that's my class with my NFT gallery on my
- 16:53Speaker 1: hard drive. Excuse me, I'll have a dry wide wine
- 16:56Speaker 1: with Christopher pine All here from car ex Yes, classy.
- 17:02Speaker 1: What else is making car news? I thought we were
- 17:04Speaker 1: talking about Yundai and Kia facing a class action.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Yeah, we are so Bannister law in my opinion, ambulance chases,
- 17:12Speaker 4: so they don't come consume me. They're investigating a class
- 17:15Speaker 4: action against Yuenda and Kia in austraight out due to
- 17:18Speaker 4: engine problems with American market cars. They also have a
- 17:23Speaker 4: distinct issue of catching on fire as well, which is
- 17:25Speaker 4: another problem they're having with abs modules and Yunday is
- 17:29Speaker 4: kind of just at the moment, they're staying tight lipped,
- 17:32Speaker 4: and I know that's a legal move because they don't
- 17:34Speaker 4: want to come out and comment because obviously, if they're
- 17:36Speaker 4: getting sued, they can use those comments against them. But
- 17:40Speaker 4: it all relates to vehicles made between two thousand and
- 17:42Speaker 4: nine and twenty nineteen. That use petrol engines up to
- 17:45Speaker 4: two point four leaders that include Santa Fe, Sonata, Tucson, Velosta, Kia, Sorrento, Optima,
- 17:51Speaker 4: and Sportage.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Initially, they claimed.
- 17:53Speaker 4: That this was just US vehicles that were affected, but
- 17:56Speaker 4: they've now found that these engines are made both in
- 18:01Speaker 4: the United States and Korea, which is where we had
- 18:04Speaker 4: our vehicles sourced from.
- 18:06Speaker 3: So yeah, they're going to be in hot water here.
- 18:08Speaker 3: And it's actually interesting.
- 18:10Speaker 4: You know, we sort of laugh a bit about Jeep
- 18:13Speaker 4: having all these recalls and stuff, but Hyun Dan and
- 18:15Speaker 4: Kia recently have just been on fire.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Part in the pun with what you did there your car?
- 18:22Speaker 2: Have you gone and got your recall sorted?
- 18:24Speaker 4: My k Stinger, Yeah, it's affected by the ABS module recall.
- 18:29Speaker 3: There was a recommendation with.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Thanks for bringing that up. I am trying to sell
- 18:32Speaker 2: that car even though it's brain new.
- 18:33Speaker 1: If you'd like to buy it, please contacted the Drive
- 18:35Speaker 1: show dot com dot attention Gordon.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, they.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Basically the ABS module can can cause the car to
- 18:43Speaker 4: catch fire, and they were recommending with one of these
- 18:46Speaker 4: recalls to make sure your car's parked outside until the
- 18:49Speaker 4: recalls addressed Jesus.
- 18:51Speaker 2: My dear, it didn't contact me over that one.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Or maybe your car isn't affected. Actually this would be
- 18:56Speaker 4: a fun little exercise. Let me just thanks for boring Podcat,
- 19:00Speaker 4: but Keia recalls. I'm just going to type that in.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Do I have to look up my registration number? Yeah?
- 19:07Speaker 2: I want your VIN? Do you have? Okay?
- 19:09Speaker 4: Again, this is boring you New South Wales readisa it all? Yes, yeah,
- 19:13Speaker 4: I need your VIN.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Okay, so we've got your VIN.
- 19:16Speaker 4: I'm going to type that into the Kia website right now,
- 19:19Speaker 4: so okay in a.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Oh that's interesting.
- 19:25Speaker 4: So it says there are currently no outstanding recalls for
- 19:30Speaker 4: this vehicle, even though I was certain the ABS module
- 19:36Speaker 4: recall affected Stinger as well. Yeah, it says here twenty
- 19:41Speaker 4: sixteen to twenty twenty one our twenty seventeen to twenty
- 19:45Speaker 4: nineteen Stinger.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Yours would be twenty twenty two, twenty two. Okay, so yeah,
- 19:49Speaker 3: basically it is.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Well, that was a that was a useless exercise.
- 19:54Speaker 4: We'll never get that eight minutes back for week. I
- 19:58Speaker 4: was really hoping it would catch.
- 20:01Speaker 2: I was really hoping you would burn to death, damn it.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Okay, but yeah, anyway, so yeah, ya they care. Now
- 20:09Speaker 4: if you do think your vehicle is affected, you can
- 20:13Speaker 4: join the class action. Now this next bit is going
- 20:15Speaker 4: to be my opinion.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Oh have we got another opinion piece from Paul? Give
- 20:20Speaker 1: the opinion piece theme please gets sued?
- 20:24Speaker 4: Now here we go, another opinion piece coming up from
- 20:26Speaker 4: If you are interested in taking part in a class action,
- 20:29Speaker 4: and I'm just talking based on experience here of my
- 20:32Speaker 4: sister in law who had a Ford Focus with a
- 20:34Speaker 4: dodgy dual clutch transmission, some people just joined the class
- 20:38Speaker 4: action and waited around and ended up getting you know,
- 20:41Speaker 4: ten bucks for their effort. At the end of the
- 20:43Speaker 4: class action. The lawyers always take the biggest lick of
- 20:47Speaker 4: that little pie.
- 20:48Speaker 2: So what ended up with her?
- 20:50Speaker 4: She ended up pursuing it with Ford and had her
- 20:52Speaker 4: car replaced, and I replaced it with a new car.
- 20:54Speaker 4: So I think that if you are having issues and
- 20:58Speaker 4: you want to join this class action, don't then stop
- 21:00Speaker 4: dealing with the car brand to get your problems sorted,
- 21:03Speaker 4: because ultimately you will end up with far less through
- 21:06Speaker 4: the class action than you would have if you persevered
- 21:09Speaker 4: with the car brand and got it sorted.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Did your sister in law drop your name?
- 21:14Speaker 4: No, actually, and I deliberately stayed out of that because
- 21:17Speaker 4: I said to her, if you don't succeed, let me know.
- 21:20Speaker 4: But she had to go through VCAT and all this
- 21:23Speaker 4: sort of stuff, which is the Victorian blah blah blah.
- 21:26Speaker 3: But yeah, so I just persevere with it.
- 21:28Speaker 4: Keep great documentation, so every interaction, don't do it on
- 21:32Speaker 4: the phone, do it. And if you do do it
- 21:33Speaker 4: on the phone, note it down. Take all of your documentation.
- 21:37Speaker 4: And if you are going to join the class action,
- 21:39Speaker 4: you can have a foot in both camps. You don't
- 21:41Speaker 4: need to just be in the one wow fi.
- 21:44Speaker 2: And there's Paul's opinion piece, roll the theme, shall we
- 21:50Speaker 2: get to the car of you? Yeah, let's do that.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Let's go the.
- 21:53Speaker 5: Twenty twenty three bmw M three competition under the bonnet
- 21:57Speaker 5: of all three models as a three leater wind turbot
- 22:00Speaker 5: inline sex petrol engine sending three hundred and seventy five
- 22:04Speaker 5: kilowats of power and six one hundred and fifty newtimeters
- 22:07Speaker 5: of talk to all four wheels through an eight speed
- 22:10Speaker 5: automatic transmission, and it also does zero to one hundred
- 22:14Speaker 5: and three point six seconds. Prices start from one hundred
- 22:17Speaker 5: and sixty thousand dollars before on road.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Now this is where I try not to seethe with jealousy.
- 22:26Speaker 1: One of the great cars BMW M four competition. Yes,
- 22:29Speaker 1: so M four Competition.
- 22:32Speaker 4: I had a chance to drive M four Competition with
- 22:36Speaker 4: a whole stack of M performance parts. And the M
- 22:39Speaker 4: three and the M four are now available as all
- 22:42Speaker 4: wheel drive, so you can basically get extrave versions of
- 22:48Speaker 4: these vehicles. And the cool thing about them is that
- 22:51Speaker 4: you can still get them with a manual as well.
- 22:53Speaker 4: And that was the interesting thing I thought that, you know,
- 22:56Speaker 4: these days, manuals are so rare and so hard to
- 22:59Speaker 4: come across that you kind of you don't expect to
- 23:02Speaker 4: see that all the time, whereas now you can actually.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Get manual or automatic. On the entry level.
- 23:07Speaker 4: The competition is automatic only, but it is cool to
- 23:11Speaker 4: see that they've actually gone down the path of doing that.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Now you can also get convertibles, but you don't don't
- 23:18Speaker 4: buy the convertible.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Shake of the head, there was very no, no, not
- 23:25Speaker 2: the purest thing to do.
- 23:27Speaker 3: So jump behind the wheel of the M four competition.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Re Wal Drive so one hundred and sixty five ish
- 23:32Speaker 4: thousand dollars plus on roads Rebel Drive Automatic, the one
- 23:36Speaker 4: that I drive.
- 23:37Speaker 2: This is straight six three liter YEP. That's it. So
- 23:40Speaker 2: mine had get this. It had adding these numbers up,
- 23:45Speaker 2: so these are like the optional extras. Yeah twenty.
- 23:49Speaker 4: It had around fifty thousand dollars worth of m performance
- 23:52Speaker 4: carbon accessories, carbon fiber, and a titanium exhaust as well.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Oh no, the titanium exhaust was like sixteen thousand dollars
- 24:02Speaker 4: and it comes with a bespoke diffuser at the back,
- 24:05Speaker 4: so it looks totally different. The carbon wing is just
- 24:09Speaker 4: ridiculous as well. This thing is unreal. So we went
- 24:14Speaker 4: to film it down at lang Lang where we do
- 24:17Speaker 4: all of our other reviews, and the video guys were
- 24:21Speaker 4: running late and it was wet, so this giant skid
- 24:24Speaker 4: pan open to me. So I ended up just going
- 24:28Speaker 4: and having some fun for about half an hour. The
- 24:30Speaker 4: best part about it being wet is you don't destroy tires.
- 24:33Speaker 4: To put the numbers for Mull Competition into into perspective,
- 24:37Speaker 4: three hundred and seventy five kilots of power, six hundred
- 24:39Speaker 4: and fifty meters of talk and zero to one hundred
- 24:42Speaker 4: in under four seconds.
- 24:43Speaker 2: This thing is a beast of a car. It is unreal.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Can I ask just on styling wise and looks are
- 24:50Speaker 2: you warming to the.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I was going to call it kidney grill, but it's
- 24:55Speaker 1: more giant lungs, the kind of nose looking thing.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Yeah, are you? I think it's it's this car.
- 25:01Speaker 3: It doesn't you need to see it in person.
- 25:03Speaker 4: In person, it actually looks good and if you have
- 25:04Speaker 4: a bigger number plate, it actually breaks up that grill
- 25:07Speaker 4: section quite nicely. So yeah, I think it actually is fine.
- 25:13Speaker 4: So yeah, I think it looks good in person. But
- 25:14Speaker 4: the cool features this car has. So it's got a
- 25:18Speaker 4: mode called the Drift Analyzer. I was gonna say, and
- 25:20Speaker 4: you did give this a bit of a spin to yeah? None,
- 25:23Speaker 4: no spinning, just all right then, thank you.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I was perfectly drifting. So it will basically rate your drift.
- 25:30Speaker 4: It will rate the maximum angle, the length of the drift,
- 25:35Speaker 4: and obviously whether you spin out or not.
- 25:37Speaker 2: And it gives you a star rating out of five.
- 25:39Speaker 2: And you've got five stars correct.
- 25:41Speaker 1: This is if it could only analyze your penis, you'd
- 25:45Speaker 1: get probably two stars.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Thank you. That's not good. That's not the length. Wasn't
- 25:53Speaker 2: there a Bengal?
- 25:54Speaker 4: The penis one is out of two stars, So I
- 25:56Speaker 4: think that was good, No, it really was not. The
- 26:00Speaker 4: other cool thing it has is variable traction control.
- 26:03Speaker 2: So what you can do.
- 26:04Speaker 4: It's got MDM mode, which gives you a little bit
- 26:06Speaker 4: of slip, but it's always sort of in charge. But
- 26:08Speaker 4: then you can go all the way through to stability
- 26:11Speaker 4: control totally off and also variable traction control. And what
- 26:15Speaker 4: that means is that on a wet surface like the
- 26:16Speaker 4: skid pam we're on, you could do one eighty degree
- 26:20Speaker 4: turns with limited traction, but you just keep your foot
- 26:23Speaker 4: in the throttle and it won't actually spin.
- 26:25Speaker 3: The car out.
- 26:25Speaker 4: It will just keep feeding the rear wheels and managing
- 26:28Speaker 4: traction as it goes. So there are so many cool
- 26:31Speaker 4: features in this car that allay you to just have
- 26:33Speaker 4: some real fun with it. And then when you do
- 26:35Speaker 4: actually want to go for a proper drive and really
- 26:38Speaker 4: get stuck into it, it is unbelievably quick. It is
- 26:42Speaker 4: just ridiculous how fast it is through corners and how
- 26:45Speaker 4: it picks up speed. Yeah, it is well and truly
- 26:48Speaker 4: one of my favorite sports cars. And this latest generation
- 26:51Speaker 4: just really knocks it out of the parks.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I feel like bmw' come to the party with almost
- 26:56Speaker 1: a new icon like a new classic.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Do you know what I mean?
- 27:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 27:01Speaker 2: It's it's a.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Really stellar looking car. It's beautiful to look at in
- 27:05Speaker 1: the way it drives.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I mean, what a base. Yeah it is. It is
- 27:08Speaker 2: so cool.
- 27:09Speaker 4: So yeah that that review will be live shortly on
- 27:13Speaker 4: our YouTube channel. I actually did. I spent a bit
- 27:15Speaker 4: of time demonstrating all of those features as well. So yeah,
- 27:20Speaker 4: actually check that out and and yeah, see what you think.
- 27:23Speaker 2: I've got to say, how many, how many? How many
- 27:27Speaker 2: like goes of drifting did you get to get the
- 27:29Speaker 2: five stars?
- 27:30Speaker 3: And first go?
- 27:31Speaker 2: So, yeah, did you learn how to drift?
- 27:35Speaker 3: Ye's a practice?
- 27:36Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, can I just quickly say, someone
- 27:39Speaker 4: remixed our Ford Ranger review where I did a little
- 27:45Speaker 4: bit of drifting drift in the review. Yeah, and they
- 27:47Speaker 4: put the Tokyo Drift music on it.
- 27:50Speaker 2: I gotta show you this, so so pulls in a
- 28:01Speaker 2: oh my god, look at you go, Look at you go,
- 28:07Speaker 2: look at that. That's actually you actually right.
- 28:12Speaker 6: I wouldn't call that five stars, but for a five
- 28:14Speaker 6: star Marrick, for a big heavy ass y, you actually
- 28:18Speaker 6: did a right out there a little bit four stars.
- 28:23Speaker 4: But yes, the internet is great, and so is the
- 28:26Speaker 4: M four competition, So I'm actually keen. Is anyone listening
- 28:29Speaker 4: to this? Well, is anyone listening to this in general?
- 28:31Speaker 4: But is anyone listening to this that owns an M
- 28:34Speaker 4: through and M four And.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Have you owned previous ones? How do you rate this
- 28:37Speaker 2: compared to the last ones?
- 28:38Speaker 4: Because the last ones were a duel clutch automatic. This
- 28:40Speaker 4: one is a talk converter, and but BMW has done
- 28:44Speaker 4: some really clever stuff with especially with the launch control mechanism,
- 28:48Speaker 4: because typically with duel clutches, you dial up REVS, it
- 28:51Speaker 4: drops the clutch and then they manage the takeoff with
- 28:54Speaker 4: traction control, whereas with the talk converter you can't do that.
- 28:57Speaker 4: You just always have to be under load. And they've
- 28:59Speaker 4: got a a system here that when you do engage
- 29:01Speaker 4: launch control, it will shift up to second gear while
- 29:04Speaker 4: the car is stationary, and you hear the turbo charges spooling,
- 29:09Speaker 4: and then it tells you when to let go of
- 29:11Speaker 4: the break and it is insanely fast. Typically with a
- 29:15Speaker 4: rebel drive you don't get a good clean launch. This
- 29:18Speaker 4: just blows it out of the park.
- 29:19Speaker 2: So yeah, it is. It is so cool, and it
- 29:22Speaker 2: well and truly breathes that that M performance sort of. Yeah.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Brand I'm not a huge BMW guy, like I could
- 29:31Speaker 1: pass up an suv any day, But there's something with
- 29:36Speaker 1: their M cars, especially the ones that are really track focused,
- 29:40Speaker 1: that they just they just nail yep in every aspect.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Yeah, they're very serious.
- 29:46Speaker 2: It's not like a with a C sixty three.
- 29:49Speaker 3: It's it's loud, and it's it's V eight.
- 29:52Speaker 4: It doesn't corner all that well, it doesn't really do
- 29:54Speaker 4: much well. And the Audi is all will drive. It's
- 29:58Speaker 4: very much focused about going around corners, whereas this it
- 30:01Speaker 4: has a bit of both. You can have the rebel
- 30:03Speaker 4: drive and be silly, or you can go the ll
- 30:04Speaker 4: will drive version that's better for cornering and can be
- 30:08Speaker 4: silly as well because you can just stick it into
- 30:09Speaker 4: rewel drive. And to think that Mercedes Bens is going
- 30:12Speaker 4: to a four cylinder for the next C sixty three,
- 30:14Speaker 4: I think is just absolutely criminal.
- 30:17Speaker 1: That's yeah, that does not sit well at all. No,
- 30:20Speaker 1: how would you say, what would this compete with? Would
- 30:23Speaker 1: this compete with a nine to eleven?
- 30:25Speaker 2: No, this would be this is C sixty three coupee,
- 30:29Speaker 2: it's out the RS five.
- 30:31Speaker 3: Yeah, Lexus RCF.
- 30:34Speaker 1: There's no one really in the Porsche world that would
- 30:36Speaker 1: compete with They just don't have that.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Really, these are too big.
- 30:40Speaker 4: And the thing with the M four comp you can
- 30:42Speaker 4: actually sit in the second row as an adult and
- 30:44Speaker 4: you have plenty of room, so you know, the stuff
- 30:47Speaker 4: you can't do in a nine to eleven don't even
- 30:48Speaker 4: have back seats and it Cayman.
- 30:50Speaker 3: So yeah, I think it's good. So I contacted the
- 30:53Speaker 3: Drive show dot com today.
- 30:54Speaker 2: You let us know. Have you owned an M car?
- 30:56Speaker 2: What do you think of them?
- 30:57Speaker 1: Yeah? I want to find out people's impressions. Actually like
- 31:00Speaker 1: living impressions too. It's one thing to track a car,
- 31:02Speaker 1: but also to live with it as a daily or
- 31:06Speaker 1: or you know, what.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Are you doing?
- 31:08Speaker 1: You're looking at the ingredients of kombucha while I'm trying.
- 31:11Speaker 2: To do it. I'm reading the can.
- 31:13Speaker 3: It says no sugar, and then there's a tick that says,
- 31:15Speaker 3: I quit sugar.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Yeah, oh okay, because I quit sugar.
- 31:20Speaker 1: I Quit Sugar is a book that and it's kind
- 31:23Speaker 1: of a brand movement, where so that is just basically
- 31:26Speaker 1: saying yes, you can have you can. It's like it's
- 31:30Speaker 1: like when you have your weight Watchers meals and you're
- 31:32Speaker 1: on like three points or whatever.
- 31:34Speaker 3: It fits in with that system, except I have four
- 31:36Speaker 3: of those meals instead of one.
- 31:38Speaker 2: You put them between two pieces of bread needle like
- 31:40Speaker 2: a sandwich, deep fry the shit out of it.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that reminds me, where's my cookie going? We should
- 31:48Speaker 1: just change the name of this podcast to two Fatty.
- 31:50Speaker 1: It's talking about cars occasionally. I love how we went
- 31:55Speaker 1: from like a bmw M four to your Kim Butcher.
- 32:01Speaker 2: And I just want to make it clear that I
- 32:03Speaker 2: don't buy Kom Butcher. This was in the fridge here,
- 32:04Speaker 2: and yes.
- 32:05Speaker 1: The only thing I could steal he demanded water, and
- 32:10Speaker 1: I was tempted to just there was a vase in
- 32:12Speaker 1: the kitchen and I was attempted to just give you that.
- 32:14Speaker 1: But anyway, contacted the Drive show dot com dot you
- 32:18Speaker 1: is where we're at, and please leave us rating, please
- 32:21Speaker 1: leave us.
- 32:21Speaker 2: I don't know. Can they share this podcast? It'd be
- 32:24Speaker 2: good if they told some friends or something. Yeah, I
- 32:26Speaker 2: don't know.
- 32:26Speaker 1: I tell your friends if you know anyone who's remotely
- 32:30Speaker 1: interested in cars.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Yeah, well, Gordie will give you his key stinger.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Oh no, I'll find some merch for you. We should
- 32:37Speaker 1: get merch. Merchant Can you imagine if.
- 32:39Speaker 2: We did a merch drop. Yeah, I don't know what
- 32:42Speaker 2: that is, but that's what all the cool kids say
- 32:44Speaker 2: when they come out with merch. Oh, it's like an
- 32:47Speaker 2: NFT drop. No, no, is Hey, I'm going to.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Ask you something random, right, because I feel like a
- 32:53Speaker 1: lot of car people would be into this.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Are you a watch guy at all?
- 32:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm a big fan of them. Looking at buying
- 33:01Speaker 1: one of the og Amiga speed Masters, right, Yes, beautiful,
- 33:05Speaker 1: beautiful watch, very classic. It's also known as the moon Watch.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Did you know that about I think it was about
- 33:12Speaker 1: six months ago. Amiga did a collaboration with Swatch. Yes,
- 33:16Speaker 1: and it was like the Swatch Speedmaster or something like that.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Those watches when they were selling was something like three
- 33:24Speaker 1: hundred and twenty dollars. Right, it's a plastic watch. It's
- 33:28Speaker 1: a bit of a tribute to Amiga. I guess Swatch
- 33:31Speaker 1: is a Swiss company, but this watch I don't think
- 33:33Speaker 1: has that really, It doesn't really have Swiss parts in it.
- 33:37Speaker 1: But I for shits and giggles, I remember I was
- 33:40Speaker 1: sort of around the Swatch store when they first when
- 33:43Speaker 1: they launched the day.
- 33:44Speaker 2: They launched this, I'm like what's this bloody life for?
- 33:46Speaker 1: And I found out it was like thousands, thousands upon
- 33:50Speaker 1: thousands of people.
- 33:51Speaker 2: You couldn't buy it online.
- 33:52Speaker 1: It was crazy in store, in store only and there's
- 33:54Speaker 1: only like one or two stores nowadays, Swatch stores in
- 33:57Speaker 1: Australia anyway, found out what it was. Those those watches,
- 34:01Speaker 1: there's plastic watches are now going for twelve hundred dollars
- 34:04Speaker 1: like you can get you can get a secondhand Amiga
- 34:08Speaker 1: that's still that's a proper Amiga, Swiss made or whatever,
- 34:12Speaker 1: and it's.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Just that'll last you for the rest of your life. Yeah,
- 34:15Speaker 2: do you know what I mean?
- 34:16Speaker 3: It's just hype.
- 34:16Speaker 2: I think eventually they will come down in like that.
- 34:19Speaker 4: They will just release new ones and then it will
- 34:22Speaker 4: just be yeah, because I saw people actually buying them
- 34:24Speaker 4: and walking out onto the street and reselling them immediately.
- 34:27Speaker 2: So nuts. Yeah. N So you're a watch guy, Yeah? Yeah,
- 34:32Speaker 2: what's your favorite watch? You have a favorite? You have
- 34:35Speaker 2: a Do you have a Rolex?
- 34:37Speaker 4: No?
- 34:37Speaker 2: Not at the moment.
- 34:38Speaker 3: I would like to have a Pepsi at some point.
- 34:42Speaker 2: The problem is, why is that the Cicco Siico No,
- 34:44Speaker 2: the Rolls, oh, the Rolls and half Blue, half red.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Yeah, because before COVID used to travel a lot with
- 34:52Speaker 4: work internationally, and I would every city I went to,
- 34:54Speaker 4: I'd go to the rollstore and put my name down
- 34:56Speaker 4: for one of the sport watches. Yeah, and no one
- 34:59Speaker 4: ever contacts you. But the thing is that with Rolex
- 35:02Speaker 4: in particular, I had a friend of mine who has
- 35:05Speaker 4: a whole lot more money than I do, but he
- 35:07Speaker 4: was buying three or four roles Is a month and
- 35:10Speaker 4: that made him eligible for access to the sport Watchers.
- 35:14Speaker 4: So he was getting like gold Daytonas.
- 35:17Speaker 2: And stuff like that.
- 35:18Speaker 3: So he would always get them and offer them to me.
- 35:19Speaker 4: But I'm not going to spend sixty thousand dollars on
- 35:22Speaker 4: a Daytona with rose gold or some shit like that.
- 35:26Speaker 4: So yeah, it's still on my to do list. And
- 35:29Speaker 4: he has promised me that if a Pepsi or a
- 35:32Speaker 4: Batman comes up, that he will sell them to me.
- 35:34Speaker 4: But yeah, I just refuse to pay twenty grand on
- 35:36Speaker 4: the secondhand market for them when you get them for
- 35:39Speaker 4: much cheaper. I own a Saiko Astron, which is a
- 35:44Speaker 4: duel a dual time zone solar backed watch.
- 35:48Speaker 2: That's a nice watch. So because I need to close
- 35:51Speaker 2: the look at that.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Yeah, because I travel a lot, I can basically on
- 35:54Speaker 4: the plane just as I land press a button. It
- 35:56Speaker 4: will get the satellites updated. And that's because it's got
- 36:00Speaker 4: solar power. You never have to really do anything with it.
- 36:03Speaker 2: Oh that's very cool. But anyway, thank you for listening
- 36:06Speaker 2: to this episode. What's the other ones, the Saco grand
- 36:09Speaker 2: Master or something?
- 36:10Speaker 3: Oh, the grand Master, Yeah, that's nice.
- 36:12Speaker 2: They're nice. Yeah, and they're not too expensive either. No,
- 36:14Speaker 2: they're a bloody good watch.
- 36:16Speaker 4: One of our developers is a mad watch guy and
- 36:18Speaker 4: he's a grand Master. He has a number of other
- 36:22Speaker 4: older Rolexes as well, so he collects them and has
- 36:24Speaker 4: friends who are on VIP lists, so he'll often cycle
- 36:27Speaker 4: through them. That was the other issue with my friend
- 36:29Speaker 4: on the VIP list. If he did get one of
- 36:32Speaker 4: the special watches, he's not allowed to sell it because
- 36:35Speaker 4: his dealer said to him, if this gets sold secondhand
- 36:39Speaker 4: within like a year of me selling it to you,
- 36:40Speaker 4: I'm not going to sell you any more of these,
- 36:42Speaker 4: even though he was buying three or four.
- 36:45Speaker 2: That's fifty dollars. Can they really police that?
- 36:49Speaker 4: Well, that's the thing. You are at the dealer's discretion.
- 36:52Speaker 4: Whatever they say goes. They can make up whatever they want.
- 36:55Speaker 4: So yeah, it's just crazy.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Wow. Eh, I've got an old rolex. Oh it was
- 37:00Speaker 1: my great grandfather, so it's like that old. But it
- 37:03Speaker 1: was like he was he was the mayor of our
- 37:06Speaker 1: suburb once upon a time. So they kind of felent. Hey,
- 37:10Speaker 1: here you go have a rolex if you approve his
- 37:12Speaker 1: building application. Alex, how dare you? But that's exactly what
- 37:17Speaker 1: happened to me anyway. Contacted the Drive show dot com
- 37:19Speaker 1: dot you tell us what you welcome to the Car Show.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Tell us your favorite watch.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be good.
