- 0:30Speaker 1: a little thing we like to call the after party.
- 0:32Speaker 1: This is the show after the show, the party after
- 0:35Speaker 1: the party, the bridge to get you from one full
- 0:36Speaker 1: episode of Disgraceland to the other, the backyard to dig
- 0:39Speaker 1: into the dirt. On this bonus episode, we are talking
- 0:43Speaker 1: about this week's full episode subject said Vicious, Sean Diddy,
- 0:47Speaker 1: Combs and jay Z. We got an update for you.
- 0:49Speaker 1: We're getting into the next two episodes that are hitting
- 0:51Speaker 1: your feet in honor of the Academy Awards that are
- 0:54Speaker 1: coming up. First Dorothy Stratton and then our part two
- 0:56Speaker 1: episode on Martin Scorsese, and we get into your voice, text, DMS,
- 1:01Speaker 1: emails and as always, a whole lot of rosie. Alright,
- 1:05Speaker 1: disc goes, let's get into it all right, So just
- 1:18Speaker 1: imagine we're not sitting here in February. We're not blanketed
- 1:22Speaker 1: in snow, We're not freezing our butts off. Imagine it's
- 1:25Speaker 1: the summer. It's summer twenty twenty five, there's a worldwide
- 1:29Speaker 1: cooling in temperature. It's perfect weather everywhere. It's seventy two
- 1:32Speaker 1: and sunny. There's no humidity at the beach. This morning,
- 1:36Speaker 1: you pulled a perfect pearl from an oyster. It was
- 1:38Speaker 1: your second pearl on what seems like an endless vacation.
- 1:41Speaker 1: There's peace in the Middle East. At home here in America,
- 1:45Speaker 1: there's consensus among voters and our leaders on the direction
- 1:48Speaker 1: of the country is to follow Morrissey and Johnny mar
- 1:50Speaker 1: They've reunited the Smiths, as have Jack and Meg White
- 1:53Speaker 1: the White Stripes. Both bands are on tour right now
- 1:55Speaker 1: and tickets are only twenty bucks each. There are no
- 1:58Speaker 1: additional fees. Even Okay, Congress has passed the Buck Stops
- 2:02Speaker 1: Here Bill, a bipartisan piece of legislation that makes it
- 2:06Speaker 1: illegal to charge more than a dollar for a hot dog,
- 2:08Speaker 1: a coffee, or a glass of cheap beer. And Sean
- 2:12Speaker 1: Ditty Combs has just been convicted of sex trafficking, racketeering, conspiracy,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and transportation to engage in prostitution. The evidence against Ditty
- 2:21Speaker 1: numerous videotapes showing him committing unthinkable sex crimes against his
- 2:25Speaker 1: victims while being cheered on by other complicit a list
- 2:28Speaker 1: celebrities is so damning that he's given the maximum sentence
- 2:32Speaker 1: one hundred years plus life in a federal prison where
- 2:35Speaker 1: he will spend all of the rest of his breathing moments.
- 2:39Speaker 1: You want all of these things to happen, sure, but
- 2:42Speaker 1: that doesn't mean that they will. Okay, we didn't get
- 2:45Speaker 1: justice for sid Vicius's death. You can hear all about
- 2:47Speaker 1: that in this week's full episode of Disgrace San And
- 2:49Speaker 1: this past week we learned that the case against jay
- 2:52Speaker 1: Z was thrown out and that got me thinking, what
- 2:56Speaker 1: in the hell is actually going to happen with this
- 3:00Speaker 1: coming Sean Diddy Comb's trial. Do we think Comb's is guilty.
- 3:04Speaker 1: That's a tough question. We've talked about it a bunch here,
- 3:06Speaker 1: and you know we have evolving opinions on this, all right.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Combs has been indicted and legally accused in multiple cases,
- 3:13Speaker 1: criminal and civil, of sexual assault, abuse, and sex trafficking.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Sean Diddy Combs denies all of these charges. Now when
- 3:22Speaker 1: the court of public opinion, Combs has also been accused
- 3:25Speaker 1: of a lot of other things, Okay, of grooming, of
- 3:28Speaker 1: running a large scale celebrity blackmail operation and even of murder.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Over on TikTok. With one quick search, you can find
- 3:39Speaker 1: numerous videos accusing Sean Diddy Combs of murdering his ex
- 3:42Speaker 1: wife kim Porter, of conspiring with jay Z to have
- 3:46Speaker 1: so called Becky with the Good Hair to have her oft.
- 3:49Speaker 1: There are those who accuse Sean Combs of having something
- 3:51Speaker 1: to do with the deaths of Andre Herrel and Heavy d,
- 3:54Speaker 1: even Aliyah and Whitney Houston TikTok conspiracy theories about Sean Combs. However,
- 4:00Speaker 1: they do not stop there. The hip hop mogul is
- 4:03Speaker 1: not only accused of sexually grooming underage pop stars Usher
- 4:08Speaker 1: at the time and Justin Bieber also at the time.
- 4:12Speaker 1: But you can hear and you can watch on TikTok
- 4:16Speaker 1: ai Sean Combs. You can see this artificial intelligence content.
- 4:22Speaker 1: You can see how do we refer to that AI content?
- 4:25Speaker 1: Doesn't sound right anyways, It's AI generated content depicting Comb's
- 4:30Speaker 1: raping and abusing Meek Mill, Bad Bunny and that fat
- 4:36Speaker 1: dude from Family Matters the Dad. Not only are you
- 4:39Speaker 1: going to get this deep fake content over on TikTok
- 4:42Speaker 1: again audio and video, you're gonna get testimony from members
- 4:46Speaker 1: of Sean Combs's inner circle, all right, mostly bodyguards and such,
- 4:49Speaker 1: testifying on video corroborating these wild conspiracy theories. Now, to
- 4:57Speaker 1: my knowledge, Sean Diddy Combs hasn't dignified these rumors. These
- 5:01Speaker 1: the wildest of these rumors were a response, and he
- 5:04Speaker 1: certainly hasn't admitted guilt in any way. And I am
- 5:06Speaker 1: in no way suggesting that he is culpable for the
- 5:12Speaker 1: wildest of these conspiracies that are being charged against Cobs
- 5:16Speaker 1: so far, other than the actual video we have showing
- 5:19Speaker 1: Sean did he Comb's viciously beating on his ex girlfriend
- 5:23Speaker 1: Cassie Ventura, who, lets remind ourselves, accused Combs of abuse.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Combs denied it, and then he settled with Cassie for
- 5:30Speaker 1: thirty million dollars a day later, and then he denied
- 5:32Speaker 1: all the subsequent abuse charges that were brought against him
- 5:34Speaker 1: after that, charges by Rodney Little, Rod Jones and others.
- 5:38Speaker 1: And then we saw and then we saw the video
- 5:41Speaker 1: of Comb's beating Cassie that not only proved that Combs
- 5:43Speaker 1: was an abuser, but it was also a proof that
- 5:45Speaker 1: he is a liar or was a liar. That he
- 5:47Speaker 1: lied about it. Okay, So aside from that evidence, however,
- 5:50Speaker 1: nothing has leaked. No other evidence has leaked. There's been
- 5:52Speaker 1: zero other evidence proving Sean Combs is guilty in any
- 5:55Speaker 1: of these seedier, more outrageous TikTok conspiracy theories which bring
- 6:00Speaker 1: me to jay Z. Jay Z is wrapped up with
- 6:03Speaker 1: Sean Combs and a lot of these conspiracy theories as
- 6:05Speaker 1: well over on TikTok and the civil case against jay
- 6:09Speaker 1: Z that was just thrown out last week a couple
- 6:12Speaker 1: of days ago, had a lot to do with Sean Combs. Okay,
- 6:16Speaker 1: but puff it's gone. Why we don't really fully know
- 6:21Speaker 1: yet officially because of quote unquote inconsistencies with the accuser's account,
- 6:27Speaker 1: and I'm betting there was also a lack of evidence here.
- 6:31Speaker 1: But that case is dead, jay Z free and clear.
- 6:35Speaker 1: How does this relate to Sean Diddy Combs. So what
- 6:38Speaker 1: we have to ask ourselves is the actual evidence against
- 6:42Speaker 1: Sean Diddy Combs. What is there that is going to
- 6:46Speaker 1: prevent Sean Diddy Combs and his case from going puff
- 6:50Speaker 1: the way the jay Z's did. How consistent are the
- 6:52Speaker 1: accounts from Sean Diddy Combs's accusers. How consistent are those
- 6:57Speaker 1: accounts going to be on the stand. Let's cut the chase.
- 7:01Speaker 1: What I believe that most people want, and maybe this
- 7:04Speaker 1: is just because I'm fucked up and I'm being cynical here,
- 7:08Speaker 1: but what I believe that most people want is they
- 7:10Speaker 1: want Sean Ditty Combs to be found guilty, not only
- 7:13Speaker 1: everything that he's accused of legally in that federal indictment,
- 7:16Speaker 1: but also of everything that he's accused of on TikTok.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I think there's a burning appetite in this country after
- 7:22Speaker 1: years of injustice, particularly around the Jeffrey Epstein case. There's
- 7:25Speaker 1: a yearning for justice when it comes to powerful people,
- 7:28Speaker 1: particularly famous people who've abused their power, or who we
- 7:31Speaker 1: believe to have abused their power. And I believe that
- 7:34Speaker 1: most people want these atrocious conspiracy theories to be true,
- 7:39Speaker 1: and that they want Diddy to be found guilty, and
- 7:41Speaker 1: they want all of his celebrity friends to be found
- 7:44Speaker 1: guilty too. Lebron and Kevin, Oprah and Gail and Ellen
- 7:47Speaker 1: and Ashton and even the Donald. They're all on tape, right,
- 7:50Speaker 1: They all gotta burn alongside Ditty? Am I one of
- 7:53Speaker 1: these people? I don't know? Some days, sometimes I want
- 7:57Speaker 1: the most entertaining outcome to be true just out of
- 8:00Speaker 1: pure selfishness. The caveman part of me, I guess, wants
- 8:03Speaker 1: some vengeance, but I try to keep that instinct pretty
- 8:08Speaker 1: tamped down for the most part. You know, Ultimately, more
- 8:12Speaker 1: than anything, I don't want these stories, the crazy conspiracy
- 8:16Speaker 1: TikTok theory, I don't want any of it to be true.
- 8:18Speaker 2: You know.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I actually think that the best outcome is that Sean
- 8:22Speaker 1: Diddy Coombs is actually innocent of what he's being accused of,
- 8:25Speaker 1: because then there's no victims, then there's no collateral damage.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I do I think that's going to happen. No, Do
- 8:33Speaker 1: I think he's guilty of what he's being accused of
- 8:35Speaker 1: on TikTok, of all these wild conspiracy theories. Do I
- 8:37Speaker 1: think that he's going to be convicted of that We're
- 8:39Speaker 1: going to find out it, you know, factually, that he
- 8:42Speaker 1: did these things and that he's going to go to
- 8:44Speaker 1: jail for them. As I teed it up at the
- 8:45Speaker 1: beginning of this episode, I don't think so. That said,
- 8:50Speaker 1: I'm not naive. Where there's smoke, there's fire, But we
- 8:55Speaker 1: have to look at the facts, especially in light of
- 8:57Speaker 1: this jay Z case being dismissed again on account of
- 9:01Speaker 1: inconsistencies with the accusers account and likely lack of evidence.
- 9:06Speaker 1: How strong is the evidence against Shandity Combs. We don't know, okay,
- 9:14Speaker 1: but we've heard nothing about evidence that the Feds have
- 9:17Speaker 1: that his legal accusers have. We've heard nothing in the
- 9:22Speaker 1: way of real evidence. I'm not talking again, I'm not
- 9:25Speaker 1: talking about the TikTok accusations. We've heard nothing and we've
- 9:31Speaker 1: seen nothing that supports any of those TikTok conspiracy theories. Nothing,
- 9:37Speaker 1: all right. All we know for sure is the following.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Shandy Combs is in jail awaiting trial. The Feds, his
- 9:46Speaker 1: accusers believe in this case. They brought the case. The
- 9:52Speaker 1: judge believes Combs is too big a threat to be
- 9:55Speaker 1: let out on bail. We don't know what the evidence is.
- 9:59Speaker 1: We can only assume it supports the sexual assault, the abuse,
- 10:03Speaker 1: the sex trafficking, and the RICO charges that the federal
- 10:05Speaker 1: government is charging him with as of yet. As of late,
- 10:09Speaker 1: no other high profile friends of Sean Combs have been
- 10:12Speaker 1: legally accused, except for jay Z, who had the case
- 10:15Speaker 1: thrown out again for inconsistencies from his accuser is Sean
- 10:19Speaker 1: Didty Comb's going to be found guilty when he stands
- 10:22Speaker 1: trial in two months. I don't know. Do I think
- 10:25Speaker 1: we're going to get earth shattering evidence that incriminates not
- 10:28Speaker 1: only Combs but also his A list celebrity friends in
- 10:32Speaker 1: crimes that are unspeakable in most places except for the
- 10:35Speaker 1: dark corners of TikTok At this point, judging by what
- 10:38Speaker 1: went down with the jay Z case, and giving that
- 10:41Speaker 1: there's been no again there's been no other actual evidence
- 10:44Speaker 1: released or leaked to suggest otherwise, I really don't think so. However,
- 10:51Speaker 1: this is still America, and just like Sean Didty, Combs
- 10:53Speaker 1: maintains his right to plead the fifth so as not
- 10:56Speaker 1: to incriminate himself, I maintained the right to change my
- 10:58Speaker 1: mind new evidence. I'm not a dumb ass, but this
- 11:01Speaker 1: is where I'm at at the moment. This jay Z
- 11:03Speaker 1: thing threw me. I did not see this coming. I
- 11:05Speaker 1: did not see this thing getting thrown out. So that's
- 11:08Speaker 1: where we're at. I haven't done a Diddy update in
- 11:09Speaker 1: a while. That's the Diddy update you know again out
- 11:13Speaker 1: here throwing it at you guys because of the jay
- 11:15Speaker 1: Z news. Thought I should bring it up. It's definitely changed,
- 11:18Speaker 1: adjusting the way that I'm thinking. It's definitely affecting the
- 11:21Speaker 1: way that I'm thinking I should say. But I'm interested
- 11:23Speaker 1: to know what you guys think, all right, So hit
- 11:25Speaker 1: me up and let me know what do you think
- 11:26Speaker 1: is going to happen here with Sean Combs. Now, I
- 11:29Speaker 1: mentioned it at the top of the show, the injustice
- 11:31Speaker 1: surrounding Sid Vicious' death. We get into that in this
- 11:33Speaker 1: week's full episode on Sid and Nancy, a classic Love
- 11:36Speaker 1: Kills episode of disgrace slaying that we brought back for
- 11:39Speaker 1: Valentine's Day. Now, the Oscars they're coming up, and with
- 11:44Speaker 1: it being Valentine's Day, so the Valentine's Day Day season,
- 11:47Speaker 1: I guess we have another wild love Kills them story.
- 11:49Speaker 1: But again because the Oscars are coming, this love Kills
- 11:53Speaker 1: themed episode comes from Hollywood. It's on Dorothy Stratton. Now,
- 11:57Speaker 1: if you do not know who Dorothy Stratton is, do
- 11:59Speaker 1: not let that stop you from listening. Dorothy was the
- 12:03Speaker 1: next big thing, a true beauty, a perfect ten a
- 12:06Speaker 1: dime spot, a woman so gorgeous. Playboy Hugh Hefner called
- 12:10Speaker 1: her the next Marilyn Monroe. All right. That was the
- 12:14Speaker 1: promise of Dorothy Stratton's burgeoning Hollywood career, and then it
- 12:18Speaker 1: all ended quickly, violently, and disastrously. And I'm not going
- 12:22Speaker 1: to spoil it, but let's just say that this story
- 12:25Speaker 1: is so compelling. It's inspired multiple films, including by the
- 12:29Speaker 1: Great Bob Fosse his excellent Star eighty with Eric Roberts,
- 12:33Speaker 1: and also multiple songs like the Red Hot Chili Pepper's Californication,
- 12:37Speaker 1: Brian Adams's Cuts like a Knife. So check out this
- 12:41Speaker 1: episode on Dorothy Stratton, and then and then, and then,
- 12:44Speaker 1: and then the following episode before we talk again in
- 12:47Speaker 1: the next after party. You're gonna get another episode that's
- 12:49Speaker 1: coming on Tuesday. It's Oscar themed as well. It is
- 12:52Speaker 1: the wild story about the murder that director Martin Scorsese
- 12:57Speaker 1: did not commit. The murder Martin Scorsese needed his friends
- 13:02Speaker 1: Steven Spielberg and others to talk him out of on
- 13:06Speaker 1: one legendary Hollywood night. This might be my favorite episode yet.
- 13:11Speaker 1: It might be my favorite episode that I've written. Okay,
- 13:14Speaker 1: I love it that much and I cannot wait for
- 13:17Speaker 1: you to hear it. I wanted to tell this one
- 13:19Speaker 1: for a while. The story is legendary in Hollywood. It
- 13:21Speaker 1: was rumored to be true forever, but it wasn't confirmed.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Quentin Tarantino would speak about it from time to time,
- 13:27Speaker 1: and then in twenty fourteen, I believe Scorsese and Spielberg
- 13:31Speaker 1: appeared together and confirmed it. It's a vicious story of
- 13:35Speaker 1: violence and creative obsession and artistic commitment, and it involves
- 13:40Speaker 1: some of the greatest directors, not only of the seventies
- 13:43Speaker 1: but just from Hollywood history in general. When you're listening
- 13:46Speaker 1: to it, I want you to be thinking of this,
- 13:48Speaker 1: Who is your favorite filmmaker and why which director? Martin Scorsese,
- 13:53Speaker 1: Steven Spielberg, Brian DePalma, any of the guys from this episode.
- 13:57Speaker 1: This episode guys, it's like remember the Muppet mupp Babies.
- 14:00Speaker 1: It's like Muppet babies for awesome Hollywood directors. This is
- 14:04Speaker 1: about Scorsese, Spielberg, Brian de Palma, John Millius, Paul Schrader.
- 14:09Speaker 1: When they're all just you know, coming up in the
- 14:11Speaker 1: in the seventies. It's it's like their origin story in
- 14:15Speaker 1: a way. That's the backdrop. Anyways, it's really solely about
- 14:17Speaker 1: Martin Scorsese. But all these guys are characters in it,
- 14:20Speaker 1: and it just begs the question, the question that I
- 14:22Speaker 1: want you to be thinking about when you're listening to
- 14:24Speaker 1: this episode, which is which director slash filmmaker makes the
- 14:28Speaker 1: movies that resonate most with you and why I want
- 14:32Speaker 1: to know let me know six one seven nine oh
- 14:33Speaker 1: six six six three eight voicemail and text at Disgrace
- 14:37Speaker 1: lampod on the Socials. That's going to be the question
- 14:40Speaker 1: of the week next week, relative to our episode on
- 14:42Speaker 1: Martin Scorsese coming this Tuesday, however, but before that, you're
- 14:45Speaker 1: getting that Dorothy Stratton episode. Don't forget that. I'm gonna
- 14:48Speaker 1: be back in a flash with the answers to last
- 14:50Speaker 1: week's Question of the week right after this. All right,
- 15:10Speaker 1: we are back. Just a quick reminder to make sure
- 15:11Speaker 1: that all you Apple podcast listeners have auto downloads turned
- 15:14Speaker 1: on so you're not missing any episodes.
- 15:16Speaker 2: All right.
- 15:16Speaker 1: It has been a year since we started our all

- 15:22Speaker 1: who have signed up and are receiving ad free episodes.

- 15:41Speaker 1: do my best, all right, I just wanted to update you.

- 16:20Speaker 1: free us up to make even more content for you guys,
- 16:23Speaker 1: and it's going to allow those who can't afford to

- 16:29Speaker 1: wait a year to do so. So for current All

- 16:35Speaker 1: the fact that a full year after you've heard an

- 17:38Speaker 1: me a text. You can also reach me at Disgrace
- 17:40Speaker 1: lampod on Instagram, Facebook, and x relative two. This week's
- 17:46Speaker 1: episode on Sit and Nancy, we asked the question which
- 17:49Speaker 1: celebrity couples were the most toxic and this is what
- 17:52Speaker 1: we heard back from you, guys, ad on Instagram. Rights. Hey, hi,
- 17:56Speaker 1: Jake Ad from the four one to ero with my
- 17:58Speaker 1: contribution for the worst and roll couple, Which rock and
- 18:01Speaker 1: roll couple could possibly be worse? And the ultra cringey
- 18:04Speaker 1: couple of Jerry Lee Lewis and his thirteen year old
- 18:08Speaker 1: cousin Myra Gale. Hard to fault Myra Gale in this
- 18:12Speaker 1: whole thing, not that you're doing that four one zero,
- 18:14Speaker 1: but you know she was thirteen and uh what a
- 18:19Speaker 1: whirl win that stirred up. I hear you great one
- 18:22Speaker 1: name and you know, awesome for us to be able
- 18:24Speaker 1: to call back to our Jerry le Lewis episode. You
- 18:26Speaker 1: guys can check that out. That's in the archive. You
- 18:28Speaker 1: have not heard it yet. That is the very first
- 18:30Speaker 1: episode of Disgrace Sland. Chris Hillman on Spotify chimes in
- 18:34Speaker 1: on this topic, writing, Hey, Jake, didn't know much about
- 18:36Speaker 1: this story, but o MG crazy. I mean, Sid beats
- 18:40Speaker 1: the murder rap for killing Nancy and then his mother. Basically, well,
- 18:43Speaker 1: I'm not gonna give it away for you guys here.
- 18:45Speaker 1: What didn't see this coming at all? Awesome episode, love
- 18:48Speaker 1: definitely kills. As for worst rock and roll couples, my
- 18:51Speaker 1: pick is Pam and Tommy loved this podcast, Chris and
- 18:55Speaker 1: everyone else. I've long wanted to do a Pam and
- 18:58Speaker 1: Tommy episode, and maybe that's in the future. There's so
- 19:01Speaker 1: much so I did a Motley Crue episode. There's so
- 19:03Speaker 1: much more there, though, and a Pam and Tommy episode
- 19:06Speaker 1: might be a way in. All right, let's hear from
- 19:09Speaker 1: the five to four to oh on Sid and Nancy.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Hey Jake, this is justin from the five four zero.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I just finished listening to the didn't Nancy episode. I'm
- 19:24Speaker 2: only listening to that thing like four times probably, but
- 19:27Speaker 2: that is some of your best work. That is amazing.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I don't know, man, It's just the way you tell
- 19:38Speaker 2: the story. It comes across so vividly and so just
- 19:41Speaker 2: I mean, the utter despair and grit and grime of
- 19:46Speaker 2: nineteen seventies London, nineteen seventies New York. It was all
- 19:52Speaker 2: just you know, a complete shit show. But they had
- 19:57Speaker 2: some of the best music in the whole damn world.
- 20:00Speaker 2: And that's what Mike said, all right, But I appreciate
- 20:02Speaker 2: your story telling, man, I like that story. Rock and Rolling.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Justin thanks to your voicemail, Man, happy you're digging the
- 20:10Speaker 1: grime and the crime and the CID and the Nancy story.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Appreciate your call and appreciate your listening. Six one seven
- 20:18Speaker 1: nine oh six six six three eight. I talked last
- 20:22Speaker 1: week a little bit about and I think I did
- 20:25Speaker 1: it only in the Yeah, I did. I did the
- 20:27Speaker 1: recommendations in the exclusive portion of the after party, so
- 20:33Speaker 1: you guys missed out if you're not All Access members.
- 20:36Speaker 1: But I gave some Valentine's recommendations, and one of them
- 20:40Speaker 1: I won't I'll share it now because Valentine's Day has
- 20:43Speaker 1: passed for the most part, I mean, I mean those
- 20:45Speaker 1: still some of us celebrating, you know, for the lovers
- 20:47Speaker 1: out there, I recommended Rocky as one of my favorite
- 20:50Speaker 1: love stories and eight to eight rights and hey, Jake,
- 20:52Speaker 1: I cannot agree with you. More on the Rocky love story.
- 20:54Speaker 1: When I proposed to my wife, I used Rocky's proposal
- 20:57Speaker 1: to Adrian voice and all. It was awesome piece Lee
- 21:00Speaker 1: in the four one two Lee. That is some serious
- 21:03Speaker 1: Rocky commitment there, proposing to your wife and the visistalone.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Boyd you want to get married to? What? Okay, let's
- 21:09Speaker 1: see what else we got here? All right? More on
- 21:12Speaker 1: Prince versus Michael Jackson. This one won't die three h
- 21:15Speaker 1: two writes in I will die on the hill of
- 21:17Speaker 1: not being able to compare Prince and Michael Jackson. Sure
- 21:21Speaker 1: they were of the same time, Sure they benefited from MTV,
- 21:24Speaker 1: but what they did was colossally different. MJ was a
- 21:27Speaker 1: pop singer and dancer. Prince was a musician. He played
- 21:30Speaker 1: the instruments and all styles of music. He was pop, rock, soul, funk, jazz, blues,
- 21:35Speaker 1: and sprinkled gospel and even did at least one rap.
- 21:39Speaker 1: There's styles as musicians were hugely different. Okay, there's styles.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Weren't that different. I mean, come on, you're really really
- 21:45Speaker 1: nippicking here. I think to say that Prince and Michael
- 21:47Speaker 1: Jackson's styles were did you say colossally different, hugely different? Yeah? Man,
- 21:54Speaker 1: I don't know. I feel like this is like saying
- 21:56Speaker 1: you can't compare Pedro Martinez to Manny Ramirez because one
- 22:02Speaker 1: guy was a pitcher and the guy was a hitter.
- 22:06Speaker 1: They both played during the same time, they both contributed
- 22:08Speaker 1: to the game at the same time. Who would you
- 22:11Speaker 1: rather have on your team? Type of thing? Right, you
- 22:13Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong,
- 22:15Speaker 1: Maybe I'm in the wrong. I like, you know, I
- 22:19Speaker 1: like this. I like this one, Prince versus Michael Jackson.
- 22:22Speaker 1: You guys like it too. Keep it coming, all right?
- 22:24Speaker 1: This one comes from the three to two three. Hey man,
- 22:26Speaker 1: Spike here from Hollywood. I just wanted to say thank
- 22:29Speaker 1: you for your show. I was raised on rock and roll.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Mom's a hippie, dad was a biker, and growing up,
- 22:34Speaker 1: my father used to tell me stories about all the
- 22:36Speaker 1: rock stars we love, Janis, Jimmy, Mick, Keith, David, Iggy,
- 22:39Speaker 1: Lou Courtney, Kurt, etcetera. Stories about all the messed up
- 22:43Speaker 1: shit they did and whether they survived or didn't. It
- 22:45Speaker 1: was basically the premise of your podcast. Anyway, my father
- 22:48Speaker 1: died three years ago and I just wanted to say
- 22:50Speaker 1: thank you for keeping that part of him alive. For me,
- 22:52Speaker 1: feels like I'm with him when I listened to your show. PS,
- 22:55Speaker 1: if you can give a shout out to my cap
- 22:57Speaker 1: Bam bam, he would very much appreciate that. Thanks again, brother. Oh,
- 23:00Speaker 1: I guess the shout out to my dad wherever he
- 23:02Speaker 1: is now. That would be good too. That's in the
- 23:04Speaker 1: three two three three two three shout out to you
- 23:06Speaker 1: your dad and Bam bam. Appreciate the listening, appreciate the text.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Six one seven nine oh six six six three eight.
- 23:12Speaker 1: You guys want to hit me up voicemail and text
- 23:15Speaker 1: next week's question of the week. Remember, I'm looking for
- 23:17Speaker 1: answers from you guys relative to our upcoming episode on
- 23:20Speaker 1: Martin Scorsese, and it is this question, who is your
- 23:23Speaker 1: favorite filmmaker and why? Which director slash filmmaker makes the
- 23:27Speaker 1: movies that resonate most with you and why? I want
- 23:29Speaker 1: to know Hit me up six one seven nine oh
- 23:32Speaker 1: six six six three eight voicemail and text. At Disgrace
- 23:35Speaker 1: lam Pod on the Socials, I'm back in a flash
- 23:37Speaker 1: with your emails reviews, the Story of the Week, and
- 23:39Speaker 1: for our All Access members, a sneak peek at our
- 23:43Speaker 1: upcoming exclusive Stevie ray Vaughn episode Back in a Flash.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Welcome back the Disgraceland's Story of the Week. Listen you
- 24:05Speaker 1: know this. It can be any story from your rock
- 24:07Speaker 1: and roll past or from rock and roll history that
- 24:10Speaker 1: you think best represents the rock and roll spirit and
- 24:12Speaker 1: that you want to share with us here in Disgraceland.
- 24:15Speaker 1: This week's Story of the Week is extra special because
- 24:17Speaker 1: it entails our sid in Nancy episode, and it comes
- 24:20Speaker 1: from a gentleman named Knox Bronson. Hey, Jake, let me
- 24:23Speaker 1: first say how much I enjoy Disgraceland. I love every
- 24:26Speaker 1: single episode. I just listened to your sid Vicious podcast
- 24:29Speaker 1: and I wanted to share something with you. Twenty years
- 24:31Speaker 1: ago or so, I read a blog post by Don
- 24:33Speaker 1: Eden telling the story of when, as a young woman,
- 24:36Speaker 1: she was hanging out in Washington Square Park and met
- 24:38Speaker 1: a junkie named John Spacely. John Spacey told her that
- 24:42Speaker 1: if she would loan him ten dollars, he would tell
- 24:45Speaker 1: her who really killed Nancy Spongent. He told her who
- 24:48Speaker 1: the real murderer was. But the reader of this blog post.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Me had to write to her to see who it was,
- 24:56Speaker 1: so naturally I did. And again, guys, this is Knox
- 24:59Speaker 1: Bronson saying me, not me. The story week goes on.
- 25:03Speaker 1: The email goes on at the time she was an
- 25:04Speaker 1: ex party girl turned Christian blogger. We had a short correspondence.
- 25:09Speaker 1: I shared my own John Spacely stories. She has since
- 25:12Speaker 1: turned into a fairly successful author. So the emailer goes
- 25:16Speaker 1: on to say, fifty years ago or more, I knew
- 25:19Speaker 1: John Spacely in Berkeley, California. He was always a character.
- 25:22Speaker 1: He moved to LA at some point. When David Bowie
- 25:25Speaker 1: took his Diamond Dogs tour to Los Angeles in nineteen
- 25:28Speaker 1: seventy four, a bunch of us flew down to see
- 25:30Speaker 1: the show, staying at the Continental Hyatt. I think some
- 25:33Speaker 1: of the details of the seventies are foggy. Anyway, Spacely
- 25:36Speaker 1: and I and a couple of other people were drinking
- 25:38Speaker 1: in the bar the morning of the show and decided
- 25:40Speaker 1: at eleven am to go up to Spacely's room and
- 25:42Speaker 1: drink some more. We got on the elevator and Iggy
- 25:45Speaker 1: Pop was standing at the back, chin on his chest.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Spacely said, Hey, Jim, how's it going. Iggy shook his
- 25:52Speaker 1: head and grunted something, and Spacely said, you've been doing drugs.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Same response, You've been drinking. Same response. So Spacely, I
- 26:00Speaker 1: did Iggy up to his room and we all went
- 26:02Speaker 1: there and had a few beers or whatever. And I
- 26:04Speaker 1: doubt Iggy remembers, but I'll never forget it. John Spacey
- 26:07Speaker 1: was a cool guy. It's really too bad the needle
- 26:09Speaker 1: gut him. Here's a promo of the movie he was in. Okay,
- 26:12Speaker 1: so there's a lot more. Here goes on to say
- 26:14Speaker 1: that Spacely was briefly the publisher of Punk Magazine until
- 26:18Speaker 1: the drugs took him over. Anyways, he finishes the story
- 26:20Speaker 1: by saying that John Spacely told the blogger Don Eden
- 26:24Speaker 1: that Sid Vicious was innocent and it was Sid in
- 26:27Speaker 1: Nancy's drug dealer who killed Nancy while she was knotted off.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Could it be Thanks again, Knox Bronson Knox, thank you
- 26:34Speaker 1: very much. This story jive somewhat with the story that
- 26:39Speaker 1: I've long since heard people have been actually writing this
- 26:42Speaker 1: on commenting publicly on our recent Instagram post on Sid
- 26:47Speaker 1: Vicious about who who really killed Nancy. Our episode deals
- 26:51Speaker 1: more with who killed Sid, but there's there's long been
- 26:55Speaker 1: rumors that it was a drug dealer, perhaps another junkie.
- 26:59Speaker 1: I'm not gonna to get into their names here, but
- 27:01Speaker 1: if you want to go onto my Instagram account and
- 27:03Speaker 1: you can just look through the content there and you
- 27:05Speaker 1: can see who people are naming. There's one name that
- 27:09Speaker 1: keeps coming up. I have not heard John Spacely's name
- 27:12Speaker 1: before here. I'm not saying that John Spacely had anything
- 27:15Speaker 1: to do with this. I'm not trying to represent Don
- 27:17Speaker 1: Eden's commentary as being the truth here, but I think
- 27:20Speaker 1: it's interesting because one of the conspiracy involves a name
- 27:23Speaker 1: that some of you will recognize and a nameless junkie.
- 27:28Speaker 1: John Spacely could very well be that nameless junkie. I
- 27:33Speaker 1: don't know, but this story, the death of Nancy Spongeen
- 27:37Speaker 1: and how she actually died, probably deserves some more investigation anyway. Knox,
- 27:41Speaker 1: thanks for your email. We appreciate it thanks to the
- 27:43Speaker 1: story of the Week. If you would like your story
- 27:45Speaker 1: of the week featured in next week's episode of Disgrace

- 28:05Speaker 1: read one review from Apple Podcasts and one from Spotify,

- 28:11Speaker 1: some merch a pin, perhaps a shirt, perhaps, I don't know.

- 28:19Speaker 1: Christina Tucker on Spotify wrights on reaction to the Louis

- 28:42Speaker 1: and it's only now just occurred to me what Jake's
- 28:45Speaker 1: real superpower is. The show is well written and produced,
- 28:48Speaker 1: It's the perfect length, and the topics are varied, but
- 28:50Speaker 1: where Jake really shines is in his ability to make
- 28:53Speaker 1: musicians and genres i'd normally not give a second chance
- 28:57Speaker 1: come to life and be interesting in a way that
- 28:59Speaker 1: I'd not thought possible. If you have even a passing
- 29:02Speaker 1: interest in music, this show is for you. MK E
