- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome back. It's time once again to catch up with
- 0:08Country Weekly, the holiday edition of Country Weekly, where we
- 0:12dive into news and gossip from the world of country music.
- 0:16I'm your host as always, Ken Dawkins, and I will
- 0:19be reading from various sources found online now. As a reminder,
- 0:23RADIOI is a reading service intended for people who are
- 0:26blind or have other disabilities that make it difficult to
- 0:29read printed material. We'll begin with the first article, dated
- 0:33December fifteenth from the boot dot Com. First up, The
- 0:38top twenty six songs of twenty twenty five reflect a
- 0:42major shift in country music. The top country songs of
- 0:46the year prove that the next generation has arrived and
- 0:49we're not just talking about the artists. Important songs from
- 0:52this year broke on streaming platforms or social media before eventually,
- 0:56in some cases, catching radio programmers attention. More than ever,
- 1:01fans are separating the great from the good, as less
- 1:04than half of the songs that make the top's list
- 1:07also made Billboard's list of the sixty most played radio
- 1:10songs of twenty twenty five. The FM dial is particularly
- 1:13slow to embrace duets, especially when one half of the
- 1:17vocal talent is from another genre. The shift in how
- 1:20people find music isn't new, but the separation is becoming
- 1:23more dramatic. This year, twenty songs have reached number one
- 1:26on the Billboard Country's Airplay chart. They were twenty five
- 1:30last year. Seven songs have led Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart,
- 1:34which includes sales, streaming and radio airplay data. There are
- 1:37only five last year, and Morgan Wallen and Tate McCrae's
- 1:41What I Want has spent the most weeks that's twenty
- 1:44at the top of that chart. Artists with multiple songs
- 1:48on the list of the top songs of the year
- 1:50include Morgan Wallensak top Ella, Langley, Jelly Roll, Shaboozi, and
- 1:54Miranda Lambert. All but the top are part of groundbreaking duets.
- 1:59In fact, you'll find a total of nine duets among
- 2:01the twenty six songs listed. Overall, It's hard to argue
- 2:06for anyone but Wallen for artists of the Year, as
- 2:08so many of his songs ranked high on airplay, streaming
- 2:11and sales charts in twenty twenty five. Zach Bryan, Post Malone,
- 2:15and lu Combs are others worth considering, However, with less
- 2:18established artists like Megan Maroney and Riley Green coming on
- 2:22strong late. Streaming and sales data helped shape the annual
- 2:25list of the top four country songs in twenty twenty five.
- 2:29Staff and reader opinion matter as much as ever, but
- 2:31notable live performances can also aid a singer and a
- 2:35change or charge. Rather to number one, the top twenty
- 2:39five country songs of the list, and they have twenty
- 2:42six actually is not a rollout of the biggest radio
- 2:45hits of the year. Original duets, Christian crossovers, meaningful deep cuts,
- 2:49and breakout independent artists also helped shape the year's best.
- 2:54The top five songs on this list rely on meaningful
- 2:57lyrics and original arrangements. A great hook and pop deer
- 3:00presentation just isn't going to get it done anymore, and
- 3:03a few artists like Zach Top, Jelly Roll, Ella Langley
- 3:05have figured that out. Airplay, charts, sales data, and streaming
- 3:09numbers helped make this list of country music's top twenty
- 3:12six songs of the year, but staff and taste of
- 3:15country reader opinion were also influential. That's a big introduction anyway.
- 3:20Number twenty six Margo Price, Don't let the bastards Get
- 3:24You Down number twenty five, Bailey Zimmerman featuring Luke Colmbs
- 3:28Backup Plan number twenty four, Scotty McCreary featuring Hoody and
- 3:32the Blowfish Bottle Rockets. The twenty third song of the year,
- 3:36says The Boot. Trisha Yearwood with the Mirror number twenty two,
- 3:40Blake Shelton Texas number twenty one, Zach Top good Times
- 3:44and Tan Lines. Megan Patrick's Golden Child came in at
- 3:49number twenty, says The Boot. Morgan Wallen I Got Better
- 3:52at number nineteen. Eighteen was Ella Langley. That's Ella Langley,
- 3:57Weren't for the Wind Number seventeen. Lley Roll with Liar sixteen,
- 4:01Cody Johnson The Fall, Mackenzie Carpenter featuring Midland. I Wish
- 4:06You Would came in at number fifteen. Miranda Lambert's Run
- 4:10was number fourteen. Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton A Song
- 4:13to Sing at number thirteen. The twelfth best song of
- 4:16the year, says the Boot. Chaboozi's Jelly Roll as Chaboozy
- 4:20with Jelly Roll Amen number eleven. Russell Dickerson Happened to
- 4:24Me number ten, Sam Barber featuring Avery Anna Indigo number nine,
- 4:30Lady Wilson Somewhere Over Laredo number eight, Morgan Wallen featuring
- 4:34Tate McCray, What I Want Tyler Childers biton List number seven,
- 4:39the sixth best song of the year, says The Boot.
- 4:41Megan Maroney's Am I Okay? Chaboozie's Good News at number five,
- 4:46and then the top four Brandon Lake featuring Jelly Roll
- 4:48Hard Fought Allelujah number three, Jackson Deane Heavens de Petsy
- 4:53number two, Zach Top with I Never Die and they Say,
- 4:57Riley Green featuring Ella Langley Don't mind if I do
- 5:00the best song of the year. And again that's according
- 5:03to the Boot dot com. Moving on, Trace Atkins announces
- 5:08thirtieth anniversary tour. Trace Atkins is hitting the road in
- 5:12twenty twenty six to celebrate three decades of music. The
- 5:15country singer will embark on his thirtieth anniversary tour, and
- 5:19fans won't have to wait long to see him. The
- 5:22trek launches on January sixteenth in Oxford, Alabama, with twenty
- 5:25four dates filling up his calendar through September nineteenth. The
- 5:28tour marks thirty years since his debut album Dreaming out
- 5:31Loud arrived back in nineteen ninety six. Fans can get
- 5:36their hands on tickets with a special artist presale, and
- 5:39that's beginning that began this week. Actually, the general public
- 5:43can purchase tickets, also beginning well this weekend. Atkins embarked
- 5:48on his country music career back in ninety six, as
- 5:50we say, with his debut album. His three decades long
- 5:53journey is something he holds in high regards, recognizing that
- 5:56not every artist gets the privilege. Recently, I read if
- 6:00you lined up all the country music artists who break
- 6:02through it all, the majority clustered tightly around five to
- 6:06seven years of an active career. He says, only about
- 6:09ten percent have a career spanning twenty years. As I
- 6:12embark on my thirtieth year of touring, I find myself
- 6:16in single digit percentile of artists. He continues, I am
- 6:19humbled that my fans and promoters have let me do
- 6:22this for so long. Hope to see you one more
- 6:24time in twenty twenty six. While the last sentence in
- 6:29his statement sounds a tad ominous, it likely comes from
- 6:31a place of humility rather than a perceived plan to retire.
- 6:35He's humbled that people still want to see him perform,
- 6:37and it's not lost on him that it could end
- 6:40at any time, but it won't end before he is
- 6:43at Renfro Valley in Mount Vernon on June twentieth. Now
- 6:48we march on over to parade dot com with the
- 6:51verst article dated at December twelfth. Country Stars suffers embarrassing
- 6:56wardrobe malfunction during tour stop. Elena is laughing off a
- 7:01hilarious moment that has earned plenty of attention from her
- 7:04fans while heading to one of her recent shows in Ohio.
- 7:07The country artist and former American Idol Season ten runner
- 7:10up forgot to check her shoes, so she went out
- 7:13wearing mismatched footwear. Oh God forbid. A post shared on
- 7:17Elena's Instagram page shows the funny moment in action, with
- 7:20Elena in the passenger seat of a car driven by
- 7:22her tour mate Chase Matthew. This can't be real. Merry Christmas,
- 7:27Oh my gosh. Matthew can be heard saying out loud
- 7:30in the clip while holding back his laugh as the
- 7:32camera pans to Elena's feet, which shows her sporting one
- 7:35brown and one black boot. Molly, a friend replies, I
- 7:40told you can you drive us back to the hotel.
- 7:43She then asks Elena what did I say, to which
- 7:45Elena thirty one, responded, you said, whatever you do, don't
- 7:48forget to put the other shoe on. I think it's cool.
- 7:51We can call that aftermarket. Matthew equipped, well, I was
- 7:54trying to decide between the two boots, and I forgot,
- 7:56and I came with both boots on, Elena explained. After
- 7:59the three they made their way out of the vehicle
- 8:01before Matthew teas she's full blown mom today. Luckily, Elena,
- 8:06a new mommy who with her husband Cam Arnold, welcomed
- 8:08her daughter Benny Dohl Arnold into the world in June,
- 8:12was able to make light of the situation as she
- 8:14laughed along with her pals. While it's unclear whether she
- 8:17went back to the hotel to switch out her shoes,
- 8:19fans have already chimed in, saying she may have started
- 8:22a new trend. Aha, mom, brain for the wind. I
- 8:25feel like you're starting a trend here, one person wrote.
- 8:27Another person added this is historic, it's really cool and
- 8:30makes a statement, while another fan said, to your credit,
- 8:33you might be onto something tonight with two different boots
- 8:36as a fashion statement. Anyway, Elena and Matthew previously teamed
- 8:40up on All My Exes, releasing a music video in
- 8:43which they both star. Now we move over to Penn
- 8:47Live Patriot News with the article dated December fifteenth, Country
- 8:52music rock this year as more stars pass and here's
- 8:56what we know. The country music world has lost some
- 8:58iconic names this year, and sadly the list has grown
- 9:01through the first half of December. As we head into
- 9:04the final weeks of the year, we take time to
- 9:06look back at the country music stars and influential names
- 9:09that have been lost thus far this year. And I'm
- 9:12just going to read the names, and many of these
- 9:14are not household names but certainly had an effect on
- 9:17country music. But there's a bunch of them. Eddie Adcock,
- 9:21Chriscilla Anderson, Walt Aldridge, Ed Ascu, Larry Bastian, David Briggs,
- 9:27Carl Dean, Billy Earhart, Mac Gaden, Tony Holliston, Bill Ivy Flacco,
- 9:34Jim Andez, brad Keeling, Mark Laws, Raul Mallow that was
- 9:38just recent, Melbourne Montgomery, Chad Morgan, Joe Morris, Johnny Rodriguez,
- 9:44Lulu Roman, John Wesley Ryles, Genie Seeley, Todd Snyder, and
- 9:49Buck White, and unfortunately we add a new name to
- 9:53that list this week. Moving over to saving country music,
- 9:57the article dated December fifteenth, Joe Joe Ely, the purveyor
- 10:01of Texas Cool, passed away. He was the Bruce Springsteen
- 10:05of Texas, the country icon of punk, the rock and
- 10:07roll heart of country, and the envy of any singer,
- 10:10songwriter and guitar player out there that knew their stuff.
- 10:14He wasn't any genre, he was every genre all at
- 10:17the same time. He was a brilliant and sought after
- 10:19collaborator while being an incredibly accomplished solo artist. He was
- 10:24someone who made it through seventy eight years in the
- 10:26belly of the dinghy brothel that is the American music industry,
- 10:29with every stitch of his dignity and integrity. Intact, he
- 10:33was Joe Eely, and news of his passing pierces the
- 10:35soul like a dagger, only to be tempered by the
- 10:38food of fond recollections of his music and performances. Joe
- 10:43Eely was born on February ninth, nineteen forty seven, in
- 10:46Amarillo and became the embodiment of music from West Texas.
- 10:50This includes country and rock songwriting as a strong imperative
- 10:54to Hanno when it's called for, all combined in a
- 10:56tornadic energy that could give birth to Buddy Holly Willing, Jennings,
- 11:00Terry Allen and everything in between. There were few, if
- 11:04any musical scenarios where Elee was unmat out or outmatched,
- 11:08says saving country music. He could hang with the clash
- 11:12sang background on the band's iconic should I Stay or
- 11:14Should I Go. He was part of the Hispanic supergroup
- 11:17Low Super Seven and Freddie Fender Flaco Jimenez, and even
- 11:22won a Grammy Award with them back in nineteen ninety nine.
- 11:26He performed with bands like Uncle Tupelo and The Chieftains
- 11:30to the Boss Bring Bruce Springsteen himself, but all started
- 11:34back in Lubbock, Texas with two fellow West Texan musicians,
- 11:38Jimmy Dale Gilmour and Butch Hancock. Together they were the Flatlanders.
- 11:42They recorded an album back in nineteen seventy two before
- 11:46breaking up shortly thereafter, but the damage had been done.
- 11:49The mystique would follow the three throughout their careers as
- 11:52they would continue to collaborate, even if it really took
- 11:55until two thousand and two for them to officially reform.
- 11:59Though everyone he wanted to play with Joe and he
- 12:01was the last to want the spotlight to himself. His
- 12:04solo career was strong. Eely released twenty one total solo
- 12:08album starting in nineteen seventy seven, with his self titled
- 12:11release Up to Love and Freedom released on February seventh,
- 12:15twenty twenty five. He never really hit the big time,
- 12:18but he refused to slip through the cracks. He may
- 12:22not have been a superstar to the gen pop, but
- 12:24many of his fellow musicians got goosebumps to see him
- 12:27perform or, if so lucky, take the stage with him.
- 12:31Joe E. Lee was a Texas music institution. The music
- 12:35scene in Lubbick and Austin, the sound of Texas country
- 12:38the swagger it all comes with can be traced back
- 12:40to Joe E Le resolutely. In twenty sixteen, Ely was
- 12:43named the Official Texas State Musician. In twenty twenty two,
- 12:47he was inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame.
- 12:51He was part of the twenty twenty five American Music
- 12:53Honors administered by Bruce Springsteen's Archives and Center for American Music.
- 13:00Earlier this year, ahead of his new album work, came
- 13:02down that Joe's health was deteriorating. According to an official
- 13:06release from his family, Joe Eely passed away on Monday,
- 13:09December fifteenth from complications of Louis body dementia, Parkinson's and pneumonia.
- 13:15His beloved wife Sharon and daughter Marie were at his
- 13:17side at their home in Taos, New Mexico. Joe Eely
- 13:21is gone, and the story of the Flatlanders now reads
- 13:24and then there were two. But as sure as the
- 13:26West Texas wind numbs the face when it turns from
- 13:29the north, the legacy of Joe Ely will howl on
- 13:33next music legends, Doc Watson, the Dillards, and Ah. They're
- 13:38the latest AI fraud victims. Those proclaiming that the benefits
- 13:42of artificial intelligence will outweigh the costs and risks continue
- 13:47to lose that public relations battle when it comes to music.
- 13:50As major labels go from suing massive music AI firms
- 13:54like Sumo to partnering with them, and human creators continue
- 13:58to get squeezed. The propriet of AI continue to hijack
- 14:01the official accounts of beloved music legends to distribute AI
- 14:05generated music in an attempt to deceive the public. Meanwhile,
- 14:09streaming companies sit asleep at the switch. The latest victim
- 14:13of this activity is a legendary seven time Grammy winning
- 14:16bluegrass folk and country legend Doc Watson, as well as
- 14:20pioneering bluegrass group The Dillards. They both released new albums
- 14:25on December tenth. The only problem is Doc Watson has
- 14:28been dead since twenty twelve and The Dillards have never
- 14:31sounded like dated y two k music Country. A ten
- 14:36song album currently live on streaming services called Roses Never Came,
- 14:40is copyrighted to Doc Watson, with all the tracks marked
- 14:43as written, produced and performed by Watson, with a clearly
- 14:46AI generated album cover and AI generated music. With the
- 14:51way Sumo and other companies can take a simple prompt
- 14:53and turn it into a completed song within seconds, it
- 14:56makes these deceptions easy. But how these are then able
- 15:01to hijack the official accounts of these performers across DSPs
- 15:05to distribute this music is the most worrisome element to
- 15:08the trends, says Saving Country Music. It's the same story
- 15:12for the progressive bluegrass group The Dillards. The album Roses
- 15:15Never Came. In its fifteen tracks. It's supposedly a copywriter
- 15:20to The Dillards, with all credits going to the Dillards,
- 15:23but of course this is in Dillard's music, despite being
- 15:25on the band's official streaming accounts. Formed in nineteen sixty three,
- 15:30The Dillards are officially still around with members Rodney Dillard
- 15:34and Beverly Cotton Dillard, but this is not their music.
- 15:38The situation is very similar to what happened with Don
- 15:40Williams in early November, when a fake album attributed to
- 15:43him populated on streaming services in an unprecedented and aggressive
- 15:47encroachment on the AI scourge. Despite reporting and fans calling
- 15:52for the music to be taken down, it took many
- 15:55days for the fake title to disappear. It's unlikely Don Williams,
- 16:00Stoc Watson, and The Dillards are the only victims of
- 16:02his latest trend in AI fraud, though alarmingly, country and
- 16:06roots music has become the unlikely epicenter of AI concerns,
- 16:09with multiple AI songs charting on Billboard and FAKEAI artists
- 16:14targeting the format over at ed M, hip hop, pop,
- 16:17and more electronically based music. With the latest versions of
- 16:21AI generating music programs, the electronic nature of the music
- 16:25is becoming virtually indiscernible. Heading into twenty twenty six, the
- 16:29threats on human creators are going from worrisome to immediately existential,
- 16:34with not just the president and future in peril, but
- 16:36past grades and music becoming posthumous victims of the rise
- 16:40of AI. Now. We stop by countrynow dot com with
- 16:44a couple of stories, beginning with the December sixteenth article
- 16:47about Riley Green. Riley Green confirms acting debut and TV show.
- 16:54From months, Riley Green has been subtly hinting that his
- 16:57next chapter might unfold not on stage, but on screen.
- 17:01And no, we're not just talking about another music video.
- 17:05We recently, we meaning country Now, caught up with the
- 17:07country superstar to talk with his whirlwind year and his
- 17:10partnership with Hey Dude, and during the conversation he finally
- 17:13made it official. Green confirmed that his acting debut was
- 17:17coming soon, giving fans their first real taste of what's
- 17:20next beyond the music. While specific details remain under wraps,
- 17:24the Alabama Natives shared just enough to get people talking.
- 17:28I need to actually sit down and talk to somebody
- 17:30about what I'm allowed to say. I'll just guess I'm
- 17:32allowed to say that I've done some acting, and it's
- 17:35a show and it's going to be airing sometime fairly soon.
- 17:38Making the leap from performance on stage to acting on
- 17:42set proved surprisingly natural for Green, who admitted he barely
- 17:45had time to get nervous thanks to his hectic tour schedule.
- 17:49It helped a lot that I knew some of the
- 17:50other people on the show and on set. Everybody was
- 17:53really great to work with, and it's not always like
- 17:56that from a little bit of film stuff I've done,
- 17:58which is music videos and commerci and things like that.
- 18:01He explained, it really helps a lot when you feel
- 18:04comfortable there, and I did as soon as I got
- 18:06on the set, and I think a little bit. It
- 18:08just happened so fast that I didn't really have time
- 18:10to get nervous, and so I was just kind of
- 18:12on the scene and watched it being done and I
- 18:14was like, Okay, well, I guess it was all right.
- 18:17They didn't yell at me or yell cut or anything.
- 18:19But it was a lot of fun between flying out
- 18:22for shows and jumping straight into scenes. He found the
- 18:24experience challenging but rewarding. It was a little tough because
- 18:27of the travel, because I was still playing shows every
- 18:30weekend and flying out and flying back and flying out,
- 18:33So that was a tough part. But as far as
- 18:34actually on set acting and kind of being there and
- 18:36getting into the headspace, I felt it came sort of
- 18:39natural to me. While fans eagerly await the official announcement
- 18:43of Raleigh Green's acting debut, they won't have to wait
- 18:46long to catch him on stage. The Alabama native is
- 18:49hitting the road in twenty twenty six for his Cowboy
- 18:51as It Gets to Her, with dates planned across North
- 18:54America and beyond. For this trick, Green is shaking things
- 18:57up with fresh production elements. We've added some production We
- 19:01added a B stage, which is something I've never done,
- 19:04he revealed. And as far as the stage setting and
- 19:06lighting and all that, we've added some things. I think
- 19:09it's always going to be a duck blindish kind of
- 19:11feel on stage, and that's kind of what really feels
- 19:14on brand for me and certainly where I feel comfortable. Meanwhile,
- 19:19Raleigh Green is closing out the year on a high
- 19:21note with his sixth career number one single, his third
- 19:25chart topper of the year, and a history making Milestone
- 19:28is the first artist since Taylor's Swift to score back
- 19:31to back self written number one hits on the country
- 19:34radio charts. His latest solo written single, Don't Mind If
- 19:38I Do, featuring Ella Langley, has reached the top spot
- 19:41on both the Billboard and media based country airplay charts.
- 19:44The achievement follows Green's self penned Worst Way, as well
- 19:48as You Look Like You Love Me, which he co
- 19:50wrote with Langley and Aaron Rantier. These accomplishments are something
- 19:54the Alabama native doesn't take lightly, admitting it's crazy their
- 19:58number one singles are not easy to come by. I've
- 20:00spent enough time with songs on the radio to know
- 20:02that you've got to get pretty lucky and things really
- 20:05have to work out, Green told Country Now during a
- 20:09recent conversation, reflecting on his year in partnership with Hey Dude,
- 20:13and to have three songs that I was a writer
- 20:16on and two songs with Ella, even that is just
- 20:18such a cool thing. He continued. To see the moment
- 20:21she's having in country music, and to see the music
- 20:23really really resonating with people. It just feels like they're
- 20:26really fired up about it. Looking ahead, Green is already
- 20:29thinking about what song to send to country radio next.
- 20:33When Country Now suggested change my Mind from his latest
- 20:36album Don't Mind If I Do, he smiled and seemed
- 20:39to confirm there thinking sounds like a good idea, He said.
- 20:43It's always kind of crazy when you have songs like
- 20:45this where Worst Way just blew up and became this
- 20:47huge song, and then Don't Mind If I Do did
- 20:50the same thing Change my Mind as one that really
- 20:52did too, Green explained, so I'm excited about a song
- 20:56it's already had a life of its own getting a
- 20:58chance to be heard by people on country radio, so
- 21:00who maybe haven't heard it yet or haven't even heard
- 21:02of me. Radio is still the biggest way to get
- 21:05songs out there, and I'd love for that to be
- 21:07the next single. It's definitely a front runner for me.
- 21:11With six chart topping singles under his Beltgreen has developed
- 21:14a strong instinct for choosing songs that resonate with fans.
- 21:19For him, the key is letting listeners lead the way.
- 21:22He recently wrapped a major year wrapped up a major
- 21:24year of touring with a stop in Las Vegas. Now
- 21:26he's enjoying some well earned downtime well except for the acting,
- 21:31before kicking off the new year in Mexico at Luke
- 21:34Bryan's Crash My Player and launching his Cowboy as It
- 21:36Gets to Her, which will bring his live shows to
- 21:39fans around the world next year. Speaking of Luke Bryan's
- 21:44Crash My Player, the full daily schedule has been released.
- 21:47In just one month, country music fans from across the
- 21:50globe will flock south of the border to the luxurious
- 21:53Moon Palace Resort in Riviera Cantcon, Mexico for the eleventh
- 21:57annual Luke Bryan's Crash My Player. The four day festival,
- 22:01running Thursday, January fifteenth through Sunday of the eighteenth, will
- 22:05feature two unforgettable nights with country superstar Luke Bryan alongside
- 22:09some of the hottest names in country music. Fans can

- 23:32Country first article dated December twelfth, country star Maddix Batson
- 23:37on staying grounded, making it in music and it surprising
- 23:40connection to Justin Bieber. At just thirteen years old, Mattix
- 23:45Batson knew he was born to be on stage. The
- 23:48rising country star was discovered by his now manager after
- 23:51his covers on TikTok went viral back in twenty twenty three,
- 23:55and it's been full steam ahead since now. Fifteen. Batson
- 23:59has open for Landy Wilson on tour, released his debut AEP,
- 24:03and made his Grand Old Opry debut. It's always been
- 24:07in my DNA, Batson tells people exclusively of his love
- 24:10of performing. I always thought I would go into music,
- 24:13maybe at an older age. Did I ever think I'd
- 24:15do it at thirteen? Well, absolutely not. But you know,
- 24:18I'm glad I did it younger because I have my
- 24:20parents that would help me. They can guide me and
- 24:22steer me in the right direction, he says, adding that
- 24:25his family is a huge blessing. It's nice to hear.
- 24:29Growing up in Birmingham, Alabama, Batson has diverse taste in music.
- 24:33He listened to plenty of country music jazz rap and
- 24:36John Mayer as his favorite artist of all time. He
- 24:39also learned a thing or two about pop from his
- 24:42older sister. She's twelve years older than me. My sister
- 24:45she had a driver's license when I was like five,
- 24:48so after school she'd picked me up, and I remember
- 24:50she had an Usher CD and she had some Justin
- 24:53Bieber CDs. One direction Recallsdent Coincidentally, Batson has been dubbed
- 24:59countries Justin Bieber and the Southbound singer considers it an honor.
- 25:03He's one of the best artists, the most accomplished artists
- 25:06of my generation, and this is super cool to be
- 25:08even in the same conversation as him, Patson says, though
- 25:12the comparisons may have more to do with his age
- 25:14and the start of his career online, Batson says they
- 25:17do have one connection. His vocal coach. Her name's Mamma Jan.
- 25:21So if you watch the old Justin Bieber stuff, like
- 25:24the documentary from two thousand ten where he played Madison
- 25:28Square Garden, Mama Jan's in there. He says, we kind
- 25:31of connected. Hopefully one day we can have a little
- 25:33sit down conversation because I have so much to learn.
- 25:37This kid sounds pretty sharp. Most recently, Batson released a
- 25:40holiday bundle titled Home for the Holidays with his very
- 25:43own rendition of Christmas staples I'll be Home for Christmas
- 25:46and Last Christmas. Next year, the country singer will kick
- 25:50off his Mattox Bats and world wide tour on February seventeenth,
- 25:54and he recently announced the collaboration with Wringling Brothers for
- 25:57their Greatest Party on Earth. When Betson isn't in the
- 26:01studio working on music or on the road, he's sleeping, golfing,
- 26:05playing video games, and hanging out with his buddies. The
- 26:08young country star is conscious of how bizarre fame could be,
- 26:11but he's grateful he has good support system around him
- 26:14to keep him in check. Having my family members around
- 26:17keeps me really grounded. He says, I wrote a song
- 26:20about it called two Feet, and that's the entire premise
- 26:22of the songs. Having those people around you that won't
- 26:25let your head get too big. You know, when your
- 26:28head gets big, you start to float and your feet
- 26:30come off the ground. Well, he's got a long way
- 26:33to go. Batson is enjoying every moment as they come.
- 26:36So far as grand old Opry debut, felt like has
- 26:38mate a moment and he doesn't want to take any
- 26:41of it for granted. And finally somebody we haven't heard
- 26:44about in a while. Lady As Holiday traditions include Christmas pajamas,
- 26:48nostalgic movies, and tex mechs. Lady A is getting into
- 26:53the holiday spirit this year with a brand new Christmas album.
- 26:56The country group comprised of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelly, and

- 27:34Got thirty nine says of how she celebrates with her husband,
- 27:37Chris Tyrrel and their kids. Heywood forty three and his
- 27:40family are also big fans of holiday pajamas, he shares,
- 27:43and they've also been known to throw on a nostalgic
- 27:45Christmas movie. As for Kelly forty four and his family,
- 27:49they have their own favorite Christmas movies. Elf is right
- 27:52in the middle. Kelly also shares that he and his
- 27:55family wife Cassie McConnell and kids decorate their house with
- 27:59Kitchi pieces right down to his studio library. At Scott's house,
- 28:03Christmas morning always starts the same way. We start with
- 28:06our girls, and we'll have an extra one fourth or
- 28:09fifth or final. Now we'll just sit around with my
- 28:11husband and read the Gospel of Luke from the Story
- 28:13of Jesus. As for food at Scott's house, it's a
- 28:16pancake casserole. Well, Heywood's house is all about his wife's roots.
- 28:20We do text mechs on Christmas Eve. My wife's from Texas,
- 28:24so we do the big Tomali kind of fish she
- 28:26grew up doing. It's awesome. Well, folks. That concludes the
