- 1:43Speaker 3: of bodies that had nothing better to do to come
- 1:46Speaker 3: in and hang out with me on Christmas morning. I
- 1:49Speaker 3: want to give a Christmas Eve. I want to give
- 1:50Speaker 3: a big shout out to Judge Richard Lindsey, who is
- 1:54Speaker 3: not in this room with us because we ran out
- 1:56Speaker 3: of space, but he's in the other room right now,

- 2:06Speaker 6: that all Mike, you and I are wearing coats from
- 2:11Speaker 6: Tony the Taylor. But Tony's not wearing one of his coats.

- 2:31Speaker 3: Let's Talk podcast with Carly. Lisa Odie is here as well. Well,
- 2:35Speaker 3: you'll hear from her a little bit later on. Lisa's
- 2:37Speaker 3: kind of quiet and shy. Uh so she's backed away
- 2:40Speaker 3: from the microphone. From it, we'll have her. Tony the Taylor,
- 2:43Speaker 3: sponsor of our Tony the Taylor text line is here.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Mister Taylor, mister Tony, mister Parnzino, how you doing.
- 2:48Speaker 7: My good morning, Good morning, Merry Christmas, everybody.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I got Mike Pushkin here State Democratic Party Chair, but
- 2:54Speaker 3: not today, Delegate, but not today, Mike push Good morning Mary, Christmas,
- 2:58Speaker 3: and happy Honika, Happy Honda.
- 3:00Speaker 8: This is the Jewish part of Jewish Christmas, Spectacus, That's
- 3:02Speaker 8: why I'm here. So you have to lend some credibility
- 3:05Speaker 8: to the title of the show.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes, and we have Amos Steel Band. Hello guys,
- 3:10Speaker 3: So I guess all right, and you heard these guys
- 3:12Speaker 3: on the show not long ago. They just had their
- 3:14Speaker 3: album drop out at Marty Girl not long ago. Thanks
- 3:17Speaker 3: for the T shirt. If you go on social media later,
- 3:20Speaker 3: you'll see I'm rocking the Amos Steel T shirt. I've
- 3:22Speaker 3: never been given a Mike Pushkin T shirt.
- 3:25Speaker 4: I would it would.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Probably would be you know, white Haynes would have been
- 3:30Speaker 3: stained under it or.
- 3:31Speaker 8: Something like, you know what. Just for that, I'm gonna
- 3:33Speaker 8: go ahead and print some T shirts this this coming year,
- 3:36Speaker 8: and I'll I'll give everybody T shirts, all right.
- 3:39Speaker 3: And we got the lovely Elesha with us right now,
- 3:42Speaker 3: come on in here, La, say hello, say hello to
- 3:44Speaker 3: the peeps, Hello to and she's gonna be playing with
- 3:48Speaker 3: us as well. So again, I got this idea a
- 3:51Speaker 3: couple of years ago. Mike and I talked about it,
- 3:53Speaker 3: and I said, look, you know, we we we talked
- 3:54Speaker 3: politics a year round, and we talk about other things
- 3:57Speaker 3: on the show as well. But I wanted to give
- 3:58Speaker 3: an opportunity for people to just you know, just kind
- 4:01Speaker 3: of you know, have a little fun and that's and
- 4:02Speaker 3: that's when we're So you're gonna hear some music today.
- 4:05Speaker 3: You're gonna hear from all the people in the room,
- 4:06Speaker 3: but we'd also like to hear from you. So I
- 4:09Speaker 3: don't know, because I don't know if the phone system
- 4:11Speaker 3: is gonna work, because I don't think everybody can hear
- 4:14Speaker 3: of the phone calls. So how about we just do
- 4:15Speaker 3: text Tony the tailor text three zero four nine three
- 4:20Speaker 3: five five zero zero and you can try to call.
- 4:22Speaker 3: But I just don't know everybody be able to me
- 4:23Speaker 3: may have to translate what what what the caller said was,
- 4:26Speaker 3: so we may have to do something like that. So
- 4:28Speaker 3: I want to let me start by talking to mister Pushkin.
- 4:31Speaker 3: You you probably have the record for being on my
- 4:33Speaker 3: show the most since I started this little experiment five
- 4:35Speaker 3: years ago.
- 4:36Speaker 8: You've been on Christmas or overall?
- 4:38Speaker 3: I mean you probably Wow.
- 4:39Speaker 8: Do I get a plaque or I got it? Like
- 4:42Speaker 8: a sport coach? I have got this, I have this
- 4:45Speaker 8: Tony here.
- 4:46Speaker 3: How about a gold sport coats, slightly worn Amos steel
- 4:50Speaker 3: T shirt that I just put on about fifteen minutes ago.
- 4:52Speaker 3: So I'll get you one of those. Wow, But how
- 4:54Speaker 3: long have you been playing music. I mean serious, The
- 4:56Speaker 3: people may not know this about you, and they're gonna
- 4:58Speaker 3: hear you. You're a very fine music and how long
- 5:00Speaker 3: have you been playing music?
- 5:02Speaker 4: You're asking?
- 5:02Speaker 8: I didn't know math was going to be involved with this.
- 5:05Speaker 8: Uh so, I guess I started playing drums when I
- 5:08Speaker 8: was very, very young. I started playing drums and then
- 5:11Speaker 8: I switched to guitar because I didn't want to be
- 5:13Speaker 8: in the back of the stage. No offense, but yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 8: I wanted to. I wanted to move up to the
- 5:17Speaker 8: front of this. So I started playing guitar. And you
- 5:19Speaker 8: know that gives me this way I've been playing along
- 5:21Speaker 8: I should be much better than I actually am for
- 5:23Speaker 8: the amount of time that I've put it.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Well, you know, with the old joke is what they
- 5:25Speaker 3: say about drummers, and I think I told this, don't
- 5:28Speaker 3: do it. I can't take it to what they call it.
- 5:31Speaker 3: What do they call a person hangs out with a
- 5:33Speaker 3: bunch of musicians drummer?
- 5:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm the engineer of this train.
- 5:39Speaker 8: Yeah that was my first My first instrument was drums,
- 5:42Speaker 8: and I don't think I really switched. I just you know,
- 5:44Speaker 8: transferred that that theory over to the guns. Bang on
- 5:47Speaker 8: a guitar.
- 5:48Speaker 9: Like I said, I'm the engineer of this train. You
- 5:51Speaker 9: just hold on.
- 5:51Speaker 3: All right, all right, And so these are the guys
- 5:53Speaker 3: and and amos an aam of Steel band. Get back
- 5:56Speaker 3: up to the microphone here, guys, you're not done yet.
- 5:58Speaker 3: I wanted to want you all to introduce all your
- 6:00Speaker 3: introduce shelves and tell us a little bit about you
- 6:01Speaker 3: individually that that you can tell. Remember, there is a

- 6:06Speaker 3: in mind. All right, go ahead.

- 20:07Speaker 4: Belief, Navid.
- 20:15Speaker 3: It does just like the just like the wise Man
- 20:19Speaker 3: planned it. Merry Christmas from the family. Yeah, yeah, he
- 20:26Speaker 3: edited it a little bit, Michael, he edited that. You
- 20:29Speaker 3: edited the song the Lord. Yeah, yeah, Yeah. It's okay though,
- 20:32Speaker 3: that's all right. It's all good. It's all it's all good.
- 20:34Speaker 3: You just you cleaned it up a little bit. There's
- 20:36Speaker 3: one one line and there was a little bit different
- 20:37Speaker 3: than what from the live version. Okay I had, Oh, okay,
- 20:41Speaker 3: I had. There's a studio version. I did not know that. Okay,
- 20:44Speaker 3: see I I have learned something that it's the Jewish

- 21:07Speaker 3: about traditions in your in your family?
- 21:10Speaker 19: What what what?
- 21:10Speaker 3: What are you guys doing well?
- 21:12Speaker 6: I mean, just like everybody else, get getting a lot
- 21:15Speaker 6: of people together, eating good food, home cooked food. You know,
- 21:18Speaker 6: we we we open a gift up on Christmas Eve
- 21:22Speaker 6: and then we open up the rest of them the
- 21:23Speaker 6: next day. So that may be a little different than
- 21:25Speaker 6: most people, but you know, I mean it's it's all
- 21:28Speaker 6: about being with family and friends, you know, trying to
- 21:30Speaker 6: see as many people as possible.
- 21:32Speaker 3: So all right, well that's good stuff, am as steel. Guys,
- 21:35Speaker 3: what anybody want to jump in there with something that
- 21:37Speaker 3: goes on and it's something a little bit different about uh,
- 21:40Speaker 3: I know you guys. So there's a lot of lot
- 21:41Speaker 3: that it's gonna be a lot different about you guys.
- 21:43Speaker 3: But anybody want to jump in get a little closer
- 21:45Speaker 3: to the microphone there if anybody wants to talk about
- 21:46Speaker 3: something that happened.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Generally January there's just a lot of drinking.
- 21:49Speaker 10: Okay, all right, but yeah, much like this show reasoning Off,
- 21:53Speaker 10: reason Off this year, so okay, all right, yeah, just
- 21:55Speaker 10: mostly traditional stuff. Just hang around with family and enjoy
- 21:59Speaker 10: dr me myself personally enjoyed my grandson.
- 22:02Speaker 3: So and he's is he a musician or is he
- 22:04Speaker 3: going to be?
- 22:06Speaker 4: Well, he's showing the signs, which is just very troubling.
- 22:08Speaker 3: What's what's what? What's the signs? Like bad credit?
- 22:11Speaker 10: Yes, that was the first one. He's already got three
- 22:14Speaker 10: loans out, second mortgage, a.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Couple of his way, a couple of DNA tests or
- 22:19Speaker 3: subpoene little yeah, all right, all right, all right, uh
- 22:23Speaker 3: uh ray, what about you? I know you're a big
- 22:25Speaker 3: family guy. I've got I've met your family and talked
- 22:28Speaker 3: to him, and so we want to talk about talk
- 22:29Speaker 3: about you.
- 22:30Speaker 4: What looks like for you?
- 22:31Speaker 20: Basically what we do is we just gather around. We
- 22:33Speaker 20: just talk about current events and things like that and
- 22:37Speaker 20: just fellowship, you know, just have a good time, eat,
- 22:40Speaker 20: drink no alcoholic drinks. Okay, so no alcohol, and just
- 22:45Speaker 20: stop up the toilet, you know, just clog it up.
- 22:49Speaker 3: So you talk about current events, I mean, because you're
- 22:52Speaker 3: a very political guy, and you're not allowed to do
- 22:53Speaker 3: it here. Ryan watches Mike. Uh but not today anyway.
- 22:56Speaker 3: But but you guys. You your family sits around, talks
- 22:58Speaker 3: about about current events and.
- 22:59Speaker 20: The current events just things was going on in the country,
- 23:04Speaker 20: you know, just sometimes political. Sometimes it's social stuff as well. Okay,
- 23:10Speaker 20: I mean it needs to be discussed because again we
- 23:13Speaker 20: cannot stick our heads in the sand when it comes
- 23:16Speaker 20: to things, because again it does affect the community.
- 23:19Speaker 3: It does, it does, but you can't give it a
- 23:21Speaker 3: break for one day ring Okay, today, okay, today, all right, dude,
- 23:28Speaker 3: but Dave Island showing five. Any line is brought to

- 23:44Speaker 3: got a text here. Question for everyone. All right, this
- 23:48Speaker 3: is gonna require thinking. Okay, so I'm sorry thinking guys,
- 23:52Speaker 3: not drinking thinking. Okay, A question for everyone. Say's a
- 23:55Speaker 3: textra If you could have only three Christmas or holiday
- 23:59Speaker 3: songs on rotation, what would they be? I think I
- 24:03Speaker 3: know one of Daves the nine minute version of Elvis
- 24:06Speaker 3: Merry Christmas America's Baby. That's definitely one. So you have
- 24:10Speaker 3: three songs, and if you can't come up with three,
- 24:13Speaker 3: give me one, you know. But all right, Michael will
- 24:15Speaker 3: start with you.
- 24:19Speaker 8: I remember who did it? Was it the Drifters that
- 24:21Speaker 8: did White Birth data version of the version of White Christmas.
- 24:24Speaker 8: That's the first one that comes to mind. And I'll
- 24:26Speaker 8: go ahead and pass off. Maybe if I think of something.
- 24:29Speaker 9: Guess I always like little drammer boy. Okay, you have
- 24:35Speaker 9: pretty obviously.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Do you have a well, it's the only it's the
- 24:39Speaker 3: only drum, one of the only.
- 24:42Speaker 9: I mean, you're a little kid, and you learn how
- 24:44Speaker 9: to play anything of.
- 24:45Speaker 3: That and any any certain version that you like.
- 24:47Speaker 6: I like.
- 24:48Speaker 3: I was gonna say, Bob Seger, that's I mean, his
- 24:51Speaker 3: versions is killer. The rest of you guys, you had anything?
- 24:55Speaker 18: Uh?
- 24:55Speaker 4: For me, it's the Chipmunks Christmas song.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Okay, that's awesome, all right about you?
- 25:00Speaker 19: I was telling you guys in them in the green
- 25:02Speaker 19: room or earlier that I don't know how many years ago,
- 25:05Speaker 19: you know, buying this thing. But it's a it was
- 25:08Speaker 19: James Brown's funky Christmas. Oh yeah, it's got all kinds
- 25:12Speaker 19: of good stuff, you know.
- 25:13Speaker 3: And speaking of funky, a a very underrated uh not
- 25:17Speaker 3: really Christmas song, but a holiday song is the Eagles
- 25:19Speaker 3: Funky New Year. I love Funky New Year. That is
- 25:22Speaker 3: a great song. You remember that, Mike Funky. It's a
- 25:25Speaker 3: great song. I'll have to go check it out. Check
- 25:26Speaker 3: it out, Funky New Year by the Eagles, Right, Elisha,
- 25:28Speaker 3: do you have a certain holiday song?
- 25:30Speaker 11: Yeah, one of them's one. Mike and I play God
- 25:33Speaker 11: Rest you merry gentlemen. But I love O Commy Manuel,
- 25:36Speaker 11: and I'm going to be doing that out of church
- 25:38Speaker 11: solo today.
- 25:39Speaker 3: All right, well, go ahead and sell it.
- 25:44Speaker 11: No, that's a surprise. You have to come to Unity
- 25:47Speaker 11: Church with me and Ron Sull today.
- 25:48Speaker 3: I thought you gonna say surprise where you are? You
- 25:50Speaker 3: just have to drive to every church. Do you find
- 25:52Speaker 3: where you? All? Right, Tony, Tony, what about you?
- 25:56Speaker 7: I'm an Elvis fan. I'm going to go with Blue Christmas.

- 26:27Speaker 6: and Hallelujah by Pedatonics if I'm saying that Pentatonics.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Okay, all right, all right, Lisa, mine.
- 26:38Speaker 12: Would be Joy to the World by Three Dog Night.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Sorry, you know that song is gonna be played at
- 26:46Speaker 3: my funeral. By the way, if my wife already knows
- 26:48Speaker 3: that Joy to the World, the Three Dog Night version,
- 26:50Speaker 3: it will be played at my funeral. But if you
- 26:53Speaker 3: listen to Mariah Carey's Joy to the World, the Christmas version,
- 26:56Speaker 3: she actually transitions into the other Joy to the World
- 26:58Speaker 3: at the very end. It's fair, actually, it's it's actually
- 27:00Speaker 3: very good.
- 27:01Speaker 11: All right?

- 27:11Speaker 3: like the Paul Schaeffer of this show.

- 27:16Speaker 8: Well, somebody mentioned the Merry Christmas Baby will do.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Okay, but that's not what we're because what are we

- 39:11Speaker 3: wife and I were just talking about that the other day,
- 39:14Speaker 3: and then I just read that he just passed Chris Riea.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Of course, the big hit song for him was full
- 39:18Speaker 3: if you think it's over in eineteen seventy eight. But
- 39:20Speaker 3: working on It was just a fantastic song. I'm not
- 39:23Speaker 3: familiar with that, are you familiar? But driving home for
- 39:25Speaker 3: Christmas and he gets familiar with that, very good song. Okay,
- 39:27Speaker 3: we'll have to give that one listening one of.
- 39:29Speaker 7: The most underrated guitarists.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Oh he was. I mean, if you can listen to
- 39:33Speaker 3: working on it and sit still and I have no
- 39:35Speaker 3: rhythm whatsoever, then you're in a coma. That's the way
- 39:39Speaker 3: all they had Texas. Can I possibly make a request
- 39:41Speaker 3: of everyone listening, if you receive new towels or blankets
- 39:43Speaker 3: for Christmas and you think of throwing your old ones away,
- 39:46Speaker 3: please consider donating those to your local animal shelter. Thank you,
- 39:49Speaker 3: maryor Christmas. Very good thought there. Lisa Odie is one
- 39:52Speaker 3: of our one of the crew here, one of the
- 39:54Speaker 3: cast of misfits that's here with his day. Of course
- 39:57Speaker 3: you hear Lisa on the Let's Talk podcast with Carl Lee.
- 40:01Speaker 3: How'd you get into the whole podcasting thing, Lisen, Babe,
- 40:05Speaker 3: I was actually.
- 40:06Speaker 12: A commentator for RSN Sports with Dana Ferrell and then
- 40:10Speaker 12: Carl and we formed a friendship during that time, and
- 40:14Speaker 12: then when he started this podcast, he asked me to come.
- 40:16Speaker 3: On and you guys on that podcast, the Carl Lee Podcast,
- 40:20Speaker 3: Let's Talk to Me. You guys do a variety of things.
- 40:22Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, you talk about sports, but there's a
- 40:24Speaker 3: lot of social issues generally speaking as it relates to sports.
- 40:28Speaker 12: Yeah. Absolutely, and we've had a lot of great guests.
- 40:30Speaker 12: We're actually going to have an end of years show
- 40:32Speaker 12: next week, Dave. That's gonna kind of take our five
- 40:34Speaker 12: top guests. I'm not gonna be a spoiler and get
- 40:37Speaker 12: who they are, but we're gonna do a review and
- 40:40Speaker 12: play some clips and just talk about how much fun
- 40:42Speaker 12: we've had this past year.
- 40:43Speaker 3: And that's available on your podcast providers. We also air it,
- 40:48Speaker 3: and I know it has to go around the sports schedule,
- 40:50Speaker 3: but we also aired a couple of times here on
- 40:51Speaker 3: CHS and also on Charleston's ESPN Radio as well.
- 40:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:54Speaker 12: Actually on Thursday evenings I think around seven and then
- 40:56Speaker 12: Sunday evenings as well.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Oh, so you get a chance give it a listen.
- 41:00Speaker 3: I mean, because it's a it's a it's a great
- 41:02Speaker 3: it's a great podcast.
- 41:03Speaker 12: It really great time on there.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's it's obvious when you listen to it
- 41:07Speaker 3: that that you're having a good time. And uh, who
- 41:09Speaker 3: are some of your regular I've mentioned you and Carl,
- 41:11Speaker 3: but delling at Hollis Lewis as a is a regular
- 41:13Speaker 3: on the show. Who are some of your other regulars?
- 41:15Speaker 12: We usually have different guests. We haven't really had any
- 41:17Speaker 12: regulars other than us three hosts, but we've had like
- 41:20Speaker 12: Christy Martin who recently just had a movie out. Christy.
- 41:23Speaker 12: We've had Sterling Sharp on the show. He was a
- 41:26Speaker 12: Hall of Famer just this past year. We've had just
- 41:29Speaker 12: a variety of people and you know, like I said,
- 41:32Speaker 12: it's just a really good time.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Be sure and check it out. Swinging mic over to
- 41:36Speaker 3: Judge Lindsay here for a moment, I want to ask
- 41:38Speaker 3: you again. We're not talking politics, but you you know
- 41:41Speaker 3: you this was your first year as a judge. Uh,
- 41:43Speaker 3: I think you'll come back for a second year. Do
- 41:49Speaker 3: you know how you know how nervous these guys, a
- 41:51Speaker 3: name of Steele said, when I said the judge was
- 41:54Speaker 3: coming in, they all automatically said, your honor. I said, no, no,
- 41:57Speaker 3: it's not that. It's not that it's it's not that
- 42:00Speaker 3: I'm off the cloth right now. Okay, all right, so
- 42:02Speaker 3: you're you're, ladies and gentlemen. We have a very very
- 42:05Speaker 3: special guest. We'll do this before we go to break,
- 42:07Speaker 3: if you would, Elisha, I want to have you stand
- 42:10Speaker 3: up there, if you would, Ladies and gentlemen. Santa Claus
- 42:13Speaker 3: is here.
- 42:16Speaker 28: Well about that, Santa sends his regrets. Santa woke up
- 42:23Speaker 28: with a migraine and can't do the voice, okay, but
- 42:27Speaker 28: he did send along some note.
- 42:29Speaker 3: This is Rob Reel from our sister station ninety six
- 42:31Speaker 3: to one k WS.
- 42:32Speaker 28: Sorry, I have scheduled the dynamite fill in for later today,
- 42:36Speaker 28: okay in the Santa department.
- 42:38Speaker 3: But all right, all right, what do you go?

- 42:46Speaker 28: was on vacation, our headphones were all hung on the
- 42:49Speaker 28: back wall with care. As Stephanie scurried to find one
- 42:52Speaker 28: more pair. Producer Ryan so quiet, maybe he's having a
- 42:56Speaker 28: nap and Lisa running for something other than her. Speaking
- 43:01Speaker 28: of politics, we put those on ice, though Pushkin sneaks
- 43:04Speaker 28: them in at least once or twice. In order to
- 43:07Speaker 28: finance this big radio wreck, Judge Rich drop the gavel
- 43:11Speaker 28: to write a big check with the Amus Steelband providing
- 43:15Speaker 28: the sound. It's the excuse for Elesha to fiddle around.
- 43:19Speaker 28: A visit from Tony the Tailor would suit us mountaineers
- 43:23Speaker 28: of all creeds and colors, constitute us non believers in Christians.
- 43:27Speaker 28: A Palestinian and a Jew could manage to get along
- 43:31Speaker 28: at least for a few and there was peace as
- 43:33Speaker 28: around the room you looked, but no side of Sanna.
- 43:36Speaker 28: Turns out he was booked on Hotline, on Talkline and
