- 0:00Speaker 1: Is there a best question?
- 0:01Speaker 2: There is?
- 0:02Speaker 3: Oh, well, best question of the week.
- 0:07Speaker 4: We do that on Fridays and we answer questions that
- 0:10Speaker 4: you email us.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Radio from Helen X ninety six dot com.
- 0:14Speaker 4: Put best question in the subject line. You can ask
- 0:16Speaker 4: us just about anything. Well, answer just about anything. Hmm,
- 0:21Speaker 4: some things don't, but just about anything?
- 0:23Speaker 1: What is this question?
- 0:24Speaker 3: This one comes to us from our friend Max Power.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Max Power, Hello, Lords.
- 0:31Speaker 4: My wife and four kids are planning a vacation to Disneyland.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Our budget was fifteen thousand dollars and it is now
- 0:38Speaker 4: twenty thousand. Would you either upgrade your hotel to a
- 0:43Speaker 4: hotel in the park or upgrade your food and souvenir budget.
- 0:48Speaker 4: We're driving down and right now we're planning on staying
- 0:51Speaker 4: about a mile away from the park.
- 0:53Speaker 3: We're going in August. Thanks Lords, Max Power.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I'm not answering that question, Well, what is it? What
- 1:01Speaker 2: is specifically? What is the question there?
- 1:03Speaker 4: So he had he has upped his budget and should
- 1:06Speaker 4: he spend that extra money on a different hotel or
- 1:09Speaker 4: on souvenirs.
- 1:10Speaker 3: I definitely would stay at a park hotel.
- 1:13Speaker 1: You're right to do that.
- 1:14Speaker 5: They're all expensive, yes they are. There's a new Pixar
- 1:19Speaker 5: Palace Hotel that they've just been and it's it's even
- 1:25Speaker 5: it's as pricey, if not more than the Grand Californian.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I like the Green That's where I like to stay.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I like to stay at the Penny Sleeper, which is
- 1:33Speaker 2: across the street. You know it's not there, isn't.
- 1:35Speaker 4: It so the so so I like to stay at
- 1:39Speaker 4: a Disneyland Park hotel because you get early entry if
- 1:44Speaker 4: you stay there.
- 1:45Speaker 1: There they're getting rid of that though, are they soon?
- 1:47Speaker 1: That means you have to get.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Up early, but you can come and go.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the great thing.
- 1:53Speaker 4: You want to go back, especially if you have kids
- 1:56Speaker 4: and maybe they.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Need a Now I'm going to take more little monsters
- 1:59Speaker 1: back to the room.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean sometimes it's it's a nice option. I
- 2:04Speaker 4: think it's if you're looking for somewhere where you have
- 2:06Speaker 4: a little extra money to spend, I would spend it
- 2:09Speaker 4: on a park hotel.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I definitely do that.
- 2:13Speaker 5: The Grand Californian is my favorite place to stay.
- 2:16Speaker 1: But like I said, that picks our place. Where is
- 2:19Speaker 1: this great?
- 2:20Speaker 5: It's there by the Disneyland Hotel, which they've just remodeled.
- 2:23Speaker 2: The Disneyland Hotel. I loved staying there. My mother took
- 2:28Speaker 2: us all to Disneyland once, like my kids and my
- 2:32Speaker 2: wife at the time, and I think it was for
- 2:35Speaker 2: one of my kid's birthdays and we stayed at all
- 2:38Speaker 2: stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, and it was just I
- 2:40Speaker 2: loved that place.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Now there is a place across the street from the
- 2:44Speaker 5: park that is actually pretty good.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Not the Penny Sleeper.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Not the Penny Sleeper. Did they tear it down or
- 2:50Speaker 2: just do something else with it? It's gone.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I don't know what. I think the roaches picked it up.
- 2:56Speaker 1: They might have carried it away.
- 2:59Speaker 5: There's a place across the street called the Anaheim Hotel,
- 3:03Speaker 5: which we stayed at when we just went recently with
- 3:05Speaker 5: Geek Show.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Oh you did.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Yeah, And that one's pretty good. It's right across the street.
- 3:10Speaker 5: But again you're asking people to walk from the park
- 3:15Speaker 5: to across the street. But yeah, I'd upgrade to the
- 3:19Speaker 5: you know, either the Grand California or the Pixar or
- 3:21Speaker 5: even the Disneyland Hotel.
- 3:23Speaker 3: So people are like, going, my god, are you kidding?
- 3:27Speaker 3: Twenty grand for I know that's how much it is.
- 3:30Speaker 4: It's a family of so if they have four kids,
- 3:32Speaker 4: that's six people you're taking to Disneyland.
- 3:35Speaker 5: It is ridiculous how much they charge for park tickets anymore.
- 3:39Speaker 2: That's why I will never go to Disneyland again. And
- 3:42Speaker 2: I don't think anybody my family will not go to
- 3:45Speaker 2: Disneyland again.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Yeah, and they just keep rising the prices.
- 3:49Speaker 5: Rebecca was down in disney World just a day ago
- 3:54Speaker 5: and Tony did the math and apparently it's cheaper to
- 3:59Speaker 5: go to disney World parks than it is Disneyland.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Well, yeah, they just entrance and it's.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Cheaper to go, like to Disneyland Paris. Yea, including like
- 4:12Speaker 4: flying there.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I can't believe that. Yeah, it's a it's
- 4:17Speaker 1: a pretty cheap flight.
- 4:20Speaker 4: I think.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I think the last time I was in a Disney
- 4:22Speaker 2: property was disney World, and it was that was a
- 4:26Speaker 2: long time ago, and we stayed in some really it
- 4:30Speaker 2: was a it was a hotel that was part of
- 4:33Speaker 2: the but it was off off the park, but it
- 4:37Speaker 2: was still part of the whole thing. You had to
- 4:39Speaker 2: take a shuttle and then get on a boat to
- 4:42Speaker 2: go over to Yeah, you have to take a boat
- 4:43Speaker 2: to get there, yeah.
- 4:45Speaker 3: And which is kind of fun. The rit.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I didn't like disney World I've been there a couple
- 4:51Speaker 2: of times, and I don't like it as well as Disneyland.
- 4:54Speaker 5: That's funny because the best Disney experience I've had has
- 4:57Speaker 5: been at disney World.
- 4:58Speaker 2: What I what I liked most about disney Land. Disney
- 5:02Speaker 2: World is spread out. Yeah, it's big, it's spread out. Disneyland,
- 5:06Speaker 2: it's all packed in packed. You know, you don't have
- 5:08Speaker 2: to walk for a mile to get to.
- 5:10Speaker 3: The next Why was that your favorite?
- 5:13Speaker 5: My sister in law, Anna is a planner, and she
- 5:17Speaker 5: planned out the days for us, and we stayed at
- 5:21Speaker 5: a condo just off of Disney Springs, which is like
- 5:23Speaker 5: their downtown Disney.
- 5:24Speaker 1: So we didn't have to do the boat, but they
- 5:27Speaker 1: would come.
- 5:27Speaker 5: And pick you up in the morning and take you
- 5:29Speaker 5: and the and the buses would come like every twenty minutes.
- 5:32Speaker 5: They call her Anna the Plant, Anna the Planet, and
- 5:39Speaker 5: it just was.
- 5:39Speaker 1: All laid out for you. Everything was taking there. I
- 5:42Speaker 1: didn't have to think.
- 5:42Speaker 5: It was just like, oh, I'm supposed to report to
- 5:44Speaker 5: the rock and roller coaster, now, okay, I will h.
- 5:48Speaker 1: So that was great.
- 5:50Speaker 5: Tokyo Disney is very inexpensive, but again that park is
- 5:54Speaker 5: not as good.
- 5:55Speaker 1: As it used to be. Oh it used to be. Yeah.
- 6:00Speaker 5: I went the first time and I loved it. The
- 6:02Speaker 5: second time I went did not love it. And I
- 6:05Speaker 5: found out in between is that it was owned by
- 6:08Speaker 5: the Japanese government and they just rented or leased everything
- 6:13Speaker 5: from Disney. But they maintained it and so everything worked
- 6:17Speaker 5: all the time. It was always clean, there were plenty
- 6:19Speaker 5: of employees everywhere. And then the second time we went,
- 6:23Speaker 5: we found out that some sort of financial firm bought
- 6:26Speaker 5: it and they run it, and they decided to cut
- 6:29Speaker 5: back so and you could tell a difference because you'd
- 6:32Speaker 5: go to a restaurant and the line to the cash
- 6:35Speaker 5: register it was two lines, and they'd take one from
- 6:39Speaker 5: the right, one from the left, one from the right,
- 6:41Speaker 5: one from the left. Not a great thing. But if
- 6:44Speaker 5: you are going to Anaheim, might I suggest this. There
- 6:49Speaker 5: is a tremendous lack of shade in Disneyland.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Bring your own, get one of those collapsible umbrellas, use it.
- 7:00Speaker 1: You will thank me for that.
- 7:04Speaker 3: I were there not that long ago.
- 7:06Speaker 5: I don't know why they haven't thought about these things.
- 7:10Speaker 5: You know, they keep building all of these places to
- 7:13Speaker 5: have your lunch and all of that.
- 7:15Speaker 3: And none of them are shade, no shade.
- 7:17Speaker 2: You know.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I don't understand why they aren't thinking about that.
- 7:21Speaker 2: They just don't care. It could be could be ever
- 7:26Speaker 2: since they took out Country Bear Jamboree, I said, I'm
- 7:28Speaker 2: never going.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Let's back.
- 7:29Speaker 4: He is.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Maybe have to go.
- 7:33Speaker 1: It's not the traditional show. It's a different show.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I know that.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I don't.
- 7:37Speaker 2: I don't want to. They probably are doing modern country songs.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I don't want I would think you'd get blood on
- 7:45Speaker 2: the saddle. That's the greatest hit, you know.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Yeah, so should we now? Should we go to Tokyo
- 7:50Speaker 3: Disney when we're there or no, that's a question.
- 7:54Speaker 5: I would say, go to Disney c which is right
- 7:57Speaker 5: next to Tokyo Oh okay uh.
- 8:00Speaker 1: It's like Sea World.
- 8:01Speaker 5: No, it's just called that because it's next to the ocean.
- 8:06Speaker 3: But what's so, what's there?
- 8:08Speaker 1: It's just the second park.
- 8:10Speaker 5: You've got a Twilight Zone ride there, You've got to
- 8:14Speaker 5: all kinds of different attractions there.
- 8:16Speaker 1: There's the Jules Verne aspect of it.
- 8:18Speaker 5: There's a volcano in the middle of the park and
- 8:21Speaker 5: you can go into.
- 8:22Speaker 1: The volcano and it's that sounds dangerous. It's the Voyage
- 8:27Speaker 1: to the Voyage to the bottom of the twenty thousand
- 8:29Speaker 1: leagues under the sea.
- 8:30Speaker 5: There's that, but there's also the voyage to the Bottom
- 8:33Speaker 5: of the Earth Earth.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Oh, Journey the Center of the Fate, one of my
- 8:37Speaker 1: favorite movies. There's a ride based on that. Oh, that'd
- 8:40Speaker 1: be great.
- 8:40Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's a it's it's really amazing, right.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Maybe that are there bears there though, That's what I
- 8:48Speaker 3: was worried.
- 8:48Speaker 1: About, that I would check on the bear situation. Check
- 8:51Speaker 1: on that.
- 8:53Speaker 2: You never I mean, you never know. The bears seem
- 8:56Speaker 2: to be having their way with Japan right now.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Apparently.
- 9:00Speaker 5: Uh yeah, Doctor Mike says, uh, we did the math.
- 9:03Speaker 5: If you're staying at Disneyland, it is less expensive to
- 9:06Speaker 5: fly to Orlando and stay at disney World than at Disneyland.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Wow.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Yeah, no, I mean that's part of the plan with Anaheim.
- 9:15Speaker 5: I talked with a guy whose daughter worked for the park,
- 9:18Speaker 5: and she said that was the plant, is that they're
- 9:20Speaker 5: going to make it so expensive that only certain people
- 9:24Speaker 5: can go.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Really.
- 9:25Speaker 5: Yeah, they want to cut down on the crowds, but
- 9:28Speaker 5: they want to keep the money.
- 9:29Speaker 2: And we don't want like some of the riff raft
- 9:32Speaker 2: that ends up here exactly some of some of the poor.
- 9:35Speaker 1: The poors. We don't want the poors here.
- 9:38Speaker 2: And people in there in their cutoff shorts, in their
- 9:41Speaker 2: sack lunches. They could go to Six Flags, they could
- 9:45Speaker 2: go to knots Bery Farm, knots Berry Farm, knots Bury Bury.
- 9:49Speaker 1: It's Berry Farm.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Always said, so there you go. Question answered.
- 9:59Speaker 4: You have one. Email it to US Radio from hell
- 10:02Speaker 4: at x ninety six dot com.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Best question in the subject in Ryne.
- 10:07Speaker 1: There you go.
