- 0:47Speaker 1: hear postgame. Bucky Mallory is here with our first new
- 0:53Speaker 1: entertainment segment of the year, so you know it's got
- 0:57Speaker 1: to be good. Basketball Sitting at two to oh now
- 1:03Speaker 1: in sec play after a wild ninety eighty eight win
- 1:10Speaker 1: at Auburn last night, strange things seemed to happen there
- 1:16Speaker 1: anm we know owns Auburn, but it took a lot
- 1:20Speaker 1: of weird stuff last night.
- 1:22Speaker 3: It was.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Like we like to say, crazy Florida by Georgia last night.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Ninety two seventy seven Tennessee took down Texas eighty five
- 1:36Speaker 1: seventy one. South Carolina I think at one time led
- 1:40Speaker 1: LSU forty to fifteen or something like that. I mean
- 1:45Speaker 1: brutal that was in Baton Rouge. LSU came back to
- 1:50Speaker 1: make the final score respectable, like within ten. But my gosh,
- 1:55Speaker 1: what a beatdown from a team that's not very good
- 1:58Speaker 1: at home. That won't make the Cajuns happy Elsewhere. Michigan
- 2:05Speaker 1: hung on beat Penn State seventy four to seventy two.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Duke came from behind to beat Louisville, Houston and Texas Tech.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Man they play. I'm telling you their styles are mirror images,
- 2:18Speaker 1: and that doesn't mean it's pretty. It is not pretty basketball.
- 2:23Speaker 1: It is hand to hand. Tech stopped the Cougars like
- 2:28Speaker 1: forty seven game homes streak last year. Houston won sixty
- 2:33Speaker 1: nine to sixty five. Kingston Flemings scored eight points no
- 2:41Speaker 1: nine points in the final two minutes of his twenty
- 2:44Speaker 1: three to lead to Koobs to a win. Kansas needed
- 2:50Speaker 1: over time to knock off TCU one oh four to
- 2:58Speaker 1: one hundred. Night Yukon is at Providence. Baylor is hosting
- 3:04Speaker 1: unbeaten and third ranked Iowa State, Kansas State visiting number
- 3:11Speaker 1: one Arizona Alabama, and Vanderbilt is the game in the
- 3:16Speaker 1: SEC this evening the tied thirteen Vanderbilt undefeated their rank
- 3:23Speaker 1: number eleven. That game is at eight o'clock on the Deuce.
- 3:28Speaker 1: At six o'clock is Missouri at Kentucky six o'clock on
- 3:33Speaker 1: the SEC network as Oklahoma Mississippi State. That will be
- 3:36Speaker 1: followed by Arkansas at Ole. Miss SMU, by the way,
- 3:43Speaker 1: is at Clemson. Mike Elko has been named a finalist
- 3:49Speaker 1: for the Paul Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Award,
- 3:53Speaker 1: along with Kurt Signetti in Indiana, Bob Chesney and James Madison,
- 3:58Speaker 1: Mario Christabaul of Mya A, Tony Elliott at Virginia, Dan
- 4:02Speaker 1: Landing at Oregon, Clark Lee at Vanderbilt, and Joey McGuire
- 4:06Speaker 1: at Texas Tech. That award will be handed out two
- 4:10Speaker 1: weeks from tonight on the twenty first in Houston. Let's see,
- 4:20Speaker 1: yesterday it was announced a couple of Aggies leaving to
- 4:26Speaker 1: try their hand in the NFL. Maybe surprising Tory and York.
- 4:35Speaker 1: York led the team in tackles, was seventy two and
- 4:40Speaker 1: was third team All SEC. I think he kind of
- 4:44Speaker 1: got hosed on that, but that's just me. No surprise.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I don't think that Chase Masontes decided that he is
- 4:52Speaker 1: going to the NFL. Ty Simpsons leaving Alabama. He's going
- 4:59Speaker 1: to the NFL. Alabama wasn't very good in the second
- 5:03Speaker 1: half of the season. Ty Simpson wasn't very good the
- 5:07Speaker 1: second half of the season. Right now, he is projected
- 5:11Speaker 1: as the third quarterback on the board, behind Fernando Mendoza
- 5:16Speaker 1: at Orgon and Dante Moore. Excuse me, Fernando Mendoz at
- 5:20Speaker 1: Indiana and Dante Moore at Oregon. They still are in
- 5:26Speaker 1: the CFP and they haven't announced what they're going to
- 5:30Speaker 1: do yet. Simpson was really good in the first half
- 5:33Speaker 1: of the season. As the team struggled to run the
- 5:37Speaker 1: ball and protect him, he wasn't quite as good. Former
- 5:42Speaker 1: University of Texas wide receiver Jordan Shipley is listed in
- 5:48Speaker 1: critical stable condition after suffering severe burns in an accident
- 5:54Speaker 1: on his ranch. Yesterday. The Athletic Department said Jordan was
- 5:59Speaker 1: involved in an accident in his hometown of Burnett. The
- 6:03Speaker 1: machine he was operating on his ranch caught fire. He
- 6:06Speaker 1: managed to get out. He was able to get one
- 6:13Speaker 1: of his workers on the ranch to drive him to
- 6:16Speaker 1: a hospital and then care flight to Austin. His wife,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Sonny wrote today on Instagram. We don't know exactly what
- 6:25Speaker 1: happened yet, but what we've gathered, it's an absolute miracle.
- 6:29Speaker 1: He is still here with us. He was in the
- 6:32Speaker 1: middle of nowhere, and any other person would have gone
- 6:35Speaker 1: into shock. He made it to the only other person
- 6:39Speaker 1: out there who was over ten miles away. Derek Sprague
- 6:46Speaker 1: is leaving CEO PGA of America Professional Golf still having
- 6:51Speaker 1: some issues. He says he hass to return to upstate
- 6:56Speaker 1: New York to help support his mother and mother in law,
- 6:59Speaker 1: who require additional care. He just took over a year
- 7:03Speaker 1: ago as a first club professional in twenty years to
- 7:07Speaker 1: be named the CEO. He says he'll stay on and
- 7:11Speaker 1: advisory capacity, and the PGA says it will announce a
- 7:16Speaker 1: new CEO in coming weeks. I will do that job,
- 7:21Speaker 1: just as I would do the Tzar of college football job.
- 7:24Speaker 1: It's not going to come cheap. I mean, it's going
- 7:27Speaker 1: to cost you, but I will do it. I'll do
- 7:30Speaker 1: it well. I'll clean up all the mess that has
- 7:33Speaker 1: to be cleaned up for sure. Tomorrow Jared is going
- 7:39Speaker 1: to be in, and I have no idea what he
- 7:42Speaker 1: has planned. We will have a high school report tomorrow.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Also on and I know we have women's basketball at
- 7:53Speaker 1: five point forty five tomorrow. Afternoon. Friday, Ryan will be in.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I have no idea what he has planned, although we
- 8:03Speaker 1: will hear from Kirk Bowles as we always do on Friday.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Kirk's got a lot of explaining to do about everything
- 8:12Speaker 1: that's going on in Austin. So we'll visit with him
- 8:16Speaker 1: coming up on Friday, and let me see if I
- 8:21Speaker 1: can find this note that I wrote to myself so
- 8:25Speaker 1: as to get everything right. And I don't think I
- 8:28Speaker 1: brought it in with me. So if you write stuff
- 8:30Speaker 1: down and you don't bring it with you, ah, we'll
- 8:39Speaker 1: talk about that in a minute. So I did find it,
- 8:42Speaker 1: don't worry. Also, next week I'm going to be visiting
- 8:50Speaker 1: with Martha Ackman. She has written a biography on Dolly
- 8:55Speaker 1: Parton called Ain't Nobody's Fool. She'll join me Monday or tuesdays.
- 9:01Speaker 1: We work that out again. Martha Ackman will be with
- 9:05Speaker 1: us next week. We have the writers on Monday. All right,
- 9:09Speaker 1: we'll take a break. We'll come back talk about bucket
- 9:12Speaker 1: ball and more after this.

- 10:40Speaker 1: Thanks Macon, Texas, thanks for being with us here on
- 10:46Speaker 1: this Wednesday edition. I don't know if I'm going to
- 10:50Speaker 1: survive this bypass project. Tex dot says five years. That
- 10:56Speaker 1: means ten years. So I'm a literally late, not survived
- 11:01Speaker 1: the project, or they may put me in an early grave.
- 11:07Speaker 1: And it hasn't even started to be brutal yet, hasn't
- 11:11Speaker 1: even started. It's gonna be brutal. Okay, I just thought
- 11:17Speaker 1: i'd throw that in to brighten up your Wednesdays. You
- 11:21Speaker 1: about to get on the freeway to try to get anywhere.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Last night on the planes in Auburn, things were rolling
- 11:33Speaker 1: along smoothly for the Auburn Tigers. They had a fifteen
- 11:43Speaker 1: point lead maybe somewhere in there, and then A and
- 11:53Speaker 1: M started doing bucket ball things. They had eight points
- 11:57Speaker 1: in like twenty something seconds out of two and two threes,
- 12:02Speaker 1: two turnovers that they turned over Auburn and away we go.
- 12:09Speaker 1: So then they build a A and M builds a
- 12:11Speaker 1: twelve point lead, so we are like a thirty point turnaround, right.
- 12:15Speaker 1: It's it's incredible, and so A and M is going
- 12:19Speaker 1: to win the crowds out of it. Three minutes left,
- 12:22Speaker 1: they're up twelve. And what we've said all year is
- 12:28Speaker 1: what is going to be all year. Now, it's entertaining,
- 12:31Speaker 1: by golly, it's going to keep you interested. But those
- 12:39Speaker 1: fifteen to three runs on A and M side will
- 12:42Speaker 1: also be fifteen to three runs on the opponent's side.
- 12:46Speaker 1: That's the style, and that's what we saw last night,
- 12:53Speaker 1: and A and M has struggled with leads down the stretch.
- 12:58Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure out why the announcers last night
- 13:05Speaker 1: were postulating that maybe A and M was trying to
- 13:07Speaker 1: take the air out of the ball, and we're going
- 13:10Speaker 1: to hear Bucky's comments and he kind of hinted at
- 13:13Speaker 1: that that's not their name. I you know, with Jakari
- 13:23Speaker 1: Lane in my mind, or even ronin Griffin, you can
- 13:28Speaker 1: put the ball in their hands late and get them
- 13:34Speaker 1: to the free throw line. And you know that's the
- 13:44Speaker 1: other issue, because they had issues against LSU late from
- 13:49Speaker 1: the They've been shooting free throws great, right, but last
- 13:53Speaker 1: night again sixty five percent. That won't get it. They
- 13:56Speaker 1: missed seven free throws and two now one front end
- 14:04Speaker 1: of a one and one. Jakari Lane only missed free
- 14:07Speaker 1: throw of the year and the only missed one last night.
- 14:12Speaker 1: He was six of seven. And then with Sean ag
- 14:15Speaker 1: missed the front end of a one and one late,
- 14:18Speaker 1: and all of that, all of the drama at the
- 14:20Speaker 1: end would have been taken care of. That that would
- 14:24Speaker 1: have been taken care of if they if they hit
- 14:28Speaker 1: free throws. And I don't care what style of basketball
- 14:33Speaker 1: you play, this is especially true in league play, and
- 14:39Speaker 1: it's especially true in league road play. You must make
- 14:45Speaker 1: free throws. Period sounds simple, should be simple, but you
- 14:53Speaker 1: must make free throws. Now you throw all this wild
- 14:59Speaker 1: stuff in with Larry Moe and Curly officiating your typical
- 15:10Speaker 1: SEC officiated basketball game, and you've got just chaos at
- 15:17Speaker 1: the end of the game. Let's hear from Bucky as
- 15:23Speaker 1: he visits with John Thornton and Andrew Monico on the
- 15:27Speaker 1: Aggie Network after the game last night.
- 15:31Speaker 7: Won a lot of games here coaching high school in Alabama,
- 15:34Speaker 7: and when I coach mid major basketball, it's good to
- 15:36Speaker 7: come back here get a win. That was a resilient
- 15:38Speaker 7: second half of our guys. You know, we are what
- 15:41Speaker 7: we are, and we're looking like we're supposed to look,
- 15:43Speaker 7: attacking basketball, being relentless the whole game and living with
- 15:47Speaker 7: what it is. You know, we had to overcome some
- 15:49Speaker 7: adversary there with foul trouble, had some turnovers there late,
- 15:52Speaker 7: win the best missing free throws late. Now they can
- 15:55Speaker 7: do all they want here. That game should have been
- 15:57Speaker 7: over if they won o'clock malfunction. That game is overwhel agreed,
- 16:00Speaker 7: and that's inexcusable for that to happen here.
- 16:03Speaker 8: I agree.
- 16:03Speaker 7: That's the only way that can happen is if there's
- 16:05Speaker 7: a clock malfunction. Now, guys, too, overcame that one, and
- 16:09Speaker 7: I think the referees you got to plug them because
- 16:10Speaker 7: it was close. They got to give that to us
- 16:12Speaker 7: because the game was over at the line right now.
- 16:15Speaker 8: And then with the clock stop with point six, it
- 16:17Speaker 8: hits the rim and they stopped.
- 16:19Speaker 1: The play in the middle.
- 16:20Speaker 8: If it missed the rim, the call needs to be played.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Now here's the other thing.
- 16:24Speaker 8: You went from one point seven to two point zero
- 16:26Speaker 8: on the first free throw to two point four, right,
- 16:29Speaker 8: So I'm with you on that. But back to that
- 16:32Speaker 8: resilience and back to why you brought Jakari Lane in,
- 16:36Speaker 8: and back to why pop Isaac. They have been in
- 16:39Speaker 8: the crux and the crucible of games, Bucky.
- 16:43Speaker 1: It's one thing to perform.
- 16:45Speaker 8: They're not scared, Bucky, and that permeates aroound the team,
- 16:48Speaker 8: doesn't it.
- 16:49Speaker 7: I've never seen our guys Roland Griffin play as hard
- 16:54Speaker 7: as he played thirty one minutes, came in here to
- 16:57Speaker 7: car Lane thirty minutes, Rue Win thirty Rashawn twenty seven,
- 17:00Speaker 7: Pop nearly twenty nine minutes, and we're fresh and ready
- 17:03Speaker 7: ready to keep fighting.
- 17:04Speaker 3: But to me, one of the things two things when
- 17:07Speaker 3: and you you parp on it all year, stuck out
- 17:09Speaker 3: to me today is I don't care what happens, We're
- 17:12Speaker 3: gonna get the ball inbounds and go right back and attack.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Even when they when they kind of rose up again,
- 17:18Speaker 3: we came right back at them. It was it was
- 17:19Speaker 3: just relentless us attacking the basket. Yeah.
- 17:22Speaker 7: Yeah, we've set it for about a month.
- 17:27Speaker 9: We have to be what we are and who we are.
- 17:29Speaker 7: And if it's not good enough, we'll shake your hand
- 17:31Speaker 7: and say good job. But there can't be any doubt
- 17:34Speaker 7: about our identity. And when you watch Texas and in
- 17:37Speaker 7: play right now, we have an identity to who we are.
- 17:39Speaker 3: We may be.
- 17:40Speaker 7: Undersized, but we got some dogs out there that are
- 17:42Speaker 7: gonna scrap and fight and keep attacking. And that's what
- 17:46Speaker 7: you want, right, that's what you want to actually what you.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Want with us. Twenty three seconds when you got eight
- 17:50Speaker 3: straight points and right here in front of the bench,
- 17:53Speaker 3: and like nobody's gonna give you that. You earn every second,
- 17:56Speaker 3: every point of that. And that was a cute.
- 17:58Speaker 1: That was a turning point, wasn't it.
- 18:00Speaker 7: Particularly on the road here? Yeah, you know, I mean
- 18:02Speaker 7: it is hostile environment. Wait till we get back home
- 18:05Speaker 7: and the students are in and said, rita reno and
- 18:06Speaker 7: would make those kind of runs. It's going to be electric,
- 18:09Speaker 7: you know. But we had to do that in their
- 18:10Speaker 7: home deal with our juice and being the aggressor, you know.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And but it was just that run, Bucky.
- 18:17Speaker 8: They responded and you guys responded again with another fifteen
- 18:20Speaker 8: to oher run. Yeah, you know how energy. Okay, we
- 18:23Speaker 8: did this. We're back and you kind of exhale. This
- 18:26Speaker 8: team's like, no, no, we're back. And there was a
- 18:27Speaker 8: little bit of ferocity, wasn't there.
- 18:29Speaker 7: Well, But we told him we got to keep goring.
- 18:31Speaker 7: We got to try to get to ninety in the
- 18:32Speaker 7: game and keep going. It was a really tough deal
- 18:35Speaker 7: the last two and a half minutes because we started
- 18:37Speaker 7: running zone and started taking Tom off the clock and
- 18:40Speaker 7: getting down to thirty seconds. They scored with one second.
- 18:42Speaker 7: So it's really a tough deal. If we make our
- 18:44Speaker 7: free throws, we're gonna ic it.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:46Speaker 3: It was it is what came down to the free throws.
- 18:48Speaker 3: What was interesting too, is as hard as they work
- 18:50Speaker 3: defensively as a team to come up with the turnovers,
- 18:52Speaker 3: they were just as hard offense did. That ball was moving,
- 18:55Speaker 3: it was hot, The open guy was got to no
- 18:59Speaker 3: four shots to big time decision making on the offensive.
- 19:02Speaker 7: And our guys were fresh air late making the right decisions.
- 19:05Speaker 7: You know, we know we had to ease into the
- 19:06Speaker 7: game on the road. It took us a second, but
- 19:09Speaker 7: you know, once we got momentum, man momentum never left.
- 19:12Speaker 7: It was great to see lots of great efforts by everybody.
- 19:14Speaker 7: I thought Ali dB came in there, played some incredible defense.
- 19:17Speaker 7: You know, Rashaun had fouls, Fetti had to come in there.
- 19:20Speaker 7: You know, some of these guys didn't play well tonight,
- 19:23Speaker 7: but maybe next game is going to be their night.
- 19:25Speaker 8: You've always said this about this team. When you play
- 19:28Speaker 8: at home, you don't know what you're going to see.
- 19:30Speaker 8: It could be Reuben hitting ten threes. It could be
- 19:33Speaker 8: Carrie knocking the ball and diving on the floor, knocking
- 19:35Speaker 8: into the deck. But it's a guarantee you're going to
- 19:38Speaker 8: see effort from this team. That's what you want to
- 19:40Speaker 8: see Saturday against Oklahoma, don't you.
- 19:42Speaker 7: That's what we got to have. We got to have
- 19:43Speaker 7: big second half. We play a big bench, and it's
- 19:46Speaker 7: a really good team with good players. They're playing good
- 19:48Speaker 7: basketball right now. We need all our aggies back at home.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Man.
- 19:51Speaker 7: You know, look, we just played in a great environment here,
- 19:54Speaker 7: flooded out, packed house. You know, we got to make
- 19:57Speaker 7: rit Arena what it is. I think they get about
- 19:59Speaker 7: ten thousand here. We can get thirteen and a half
- 20:01Speaker 7: and read and I promise you to the Aggies, this
- 20:04Speaker 7: is a team right now there. It's worse support in
- 20:06Speaker 7: this group right. I mean, we're giving up inches everywhere, size.
- 20:11Speaker 7: But these guys scrap, they fight. They represent this university
- 20:15Speaker 7: and I can't wait for everybody to get back there,
- 20:17Speaker 7: fight together on versus Oklahoma.
- 20:19Speaker 3: I'm gonna add one more thing. They believe in Bucky,
- 20:21Speaker 3: and what's going on with your coaching staff and you don't.
- 20:24Speaker 3: You can't go and do what you just did if
- 20:26Speaker 3: they were all on the same page getting this done.
- 20:28Speaker 7: Well, I believe in them. I believe in our school
- 20:30Speaker 7: and we've got good things gonna lie a head.
- 20:32Speaker 3: We're gonna have some up and have some downs. Yep,
- 20:34Speaker 3: but uh.
- 20:37Speaker 1: You're telling me, you're telling me, great win.
- 20:40Speaker 8: Enjoy it with that team, Bucky, Thank you so much
- 20:42Speaker 8: for joining us.
- 20:43Speaker 9: Gigam what a lot?
- 20:44Speaker 1: All right? That's uh. Bucky on the post game last
- 20:48Speaker 1: night with John Thorne Andrew Monico, and I want to
- 20:54Speaker 1: give a shout out to Andrew Monico, who is just
- 20:57Speaker 1: named the Texas Sports cast Master of the Year by
- 21:01Speaker 1: the National Sports Media Association. The NSMA has been around
- 21:07Speaker 1: for a long time. This is the organization, especially in
- 21:13Speaker 1: terms of broadcast media print as well. But it's a
- 21:21Speaker 1: great award and well deserved. Our congratulations to Andrew and
- 21:27Speaker 1: to our friend Cedric Golden named the Sports Writer of
- 21:32Speaker 1: the Year from the Austin American Statesman, and he's on
- 21:36Speaker 1: with Louis every week. You can hear Cedric and all
- 21:39Speaker 1: of his opinions. We didn't get into a lot of
- 21:44Speaker 1: but I alluded to it. Bucky was saying, you know,
- 21:46Speaker 1: we went to zone towards the end, and they ended
- 21:50Speaker 1: up being able to score the ball really late in
- 21:53Speaker 1: the time clock a couple of times. But that's you know,
- 21:58Speaker 1: when you're not used to or confident in taking the
- 22:06Speaker 1: air out of the basketball, that's when problems occur. I
- 22:11Speaker 1: believe that's what we've seen several times with this team
- 22:15Speaker 1: losing leads. Now, there are other reasons for losing leads.
- 22:22Speaker 1: They have made some stupid plays, some stupid fouls, some
- 22:25Speaker 1: stupid turnovers, but having said all that. When you look
- 22:30Speaker 1: at the stats, listen to this. A and M is
- 22:34Speaker 1: minus ten and free throws made, They're minus six in rebounds,
- 22:41Speaker 1: minus seven in offensive rebounds, they are minus one in turnovers,
- 22:50Speaker 1: and yet they win the game. Part of it is
- 22:56Speaker 1: the forty three percent from threes pop. Isaacs was really good.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Domingus just continues to be money. Jakari Lane had a
- 23:13Speaker 1: heck of a ball game with seventeen and I think
- 23:19Speaker 1: it was bucky to mention Roland Griffin, but his statue
- 23:24Speaker 1: is stuffed. He had nine points, six rebounds, an assist,
- 23:31Speaker 1: three steals, zero turnovers. Ryland Griffin was really good last night.
- 23:39Speaker 1: You know you're not going to talk as much about
- 23:41Speaker 1: him because he had nine points, but he was really good.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Ali diba Is still played pretty well, not quite as
- 23:53Speaker 1: good as he was two games before, but still attacking
- 23:58Speaker 1: the basket. You can tell he's got more confidence growing age.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Did not get a double double, but he did do
- 24:08Speaker 1: fourteen and seven. And Keishawn Hall was just a man
- 24:11Speaker 1: last night for Auburn. He went for thirty two and twelve,
- 24:18Speaker 1: not to mention three assists, two block shots. I mean,
- 24:24Speaker 1: phenomenal game by Keishawn Hall carried Auburn, and you've got
- 24:33Speaker 1: to look at the way Auburn has lost their first
- 24:36Speaker 1: two games, and that can't be good with the Auburn faithful.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Auburn's sitting at nine and six right now. I'd have
- 24:50Speaker 1: to go back and look. I don't know if they
- 24:52Speaker 1: lost six games all last year? Can you check that?
- 24:58Speaker 3: Jet?
- 24:58Speaker 1: Can you check Auburn's basketball record from last season, because really,
- 25:06Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know if they lost six games
- 25:10Speaker 1: the entire year last year. Now, you can't do that
- 25:13Speaker 1: every year, I understand, but fans think you can, and
- 25:16Speaker 1: you should. They've got the coach's son who has an
- 25:20Speaker 1: enormous amount of brushure on him, and they have not
- 25:24Speaker 1: done well down the stretch of their two conference losses.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I'm not sure that boats well. I just want to
- 25:41Speaker 1: know how many games they lost last season? Their record,
- 25:50Speaker 1: We're working on it. Where was I the coach's son,
- 25:55Speaker 1: he probably.
- 25:56Speaker 3: He pro games?
- 25:58Speaker 1: No way?
- 26:00Speaker 8: Really?
- 26:01Speaker 1: How many they win?
- 26:06Speaker 3: They lost seven?
- 26:09Speaker 1: Seven total games?
- 26:10Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 26:11Speaker 10: Huh in one nine?
- 26:13Speaker 1: No? No, no, no, not in conference play the whole season,
- 26:17Speaker 1: the whole season we had. Wow, they lost twelve games. Okay,
- 26:23Speaker 1: so they're still okay. But I tell you this isn't
- 26:26Speaker 1: last year. It's never last year. Every year is different.
- 26:29Speaker 1: So I was gonna I'm gonna pull up their schedule
- 26:34Speaker 1: here and see who they have. So Saturday, Auburn is
- 26:43Speaker 1: home to Arkansas. That is not going to be easy.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I still think Arkansas may be the best team in
- 26:48Speaker 1: the league. They go to Missouri the following Wednesday, not
- 26:54Speaker 1: an easy place to play, and they're home to South Carolina,
- 26:59Speaker 1: which they should win, and they go to Ole Miss.
- 27:05Speaker 1: They have opportunities coming. They also have some opportunities for
- 27:10Speaker 1: disaster if they don't take care of business. But Aggie's
- 27:14Speaker 1: are home. They're hosting Oklahoma Saturday afternoon. I suspect some
- 27:20Speaker 1: of the students will be back and should should have
- 27:27Speaker 1: a decent crowd. There was a good crowd last week. Saturday,
- 27:31Speaker 1: should be a good crowd Saturday afternoon against the singers,
- 27:35Speaker 1: who I have not seen a lot of. Frankly Porter
- 27:42Speaker 1: Mosher coming back to Reed Arena. I've not seen a
- 27:45Speaker 1: lot of them, so I'm not sure. Plus, let me
- 27:52Speaker 1: look at this, make sure that they're where they are playing.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So Oklahoma's at Mississippi State tonight that won't be easy.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Before coming here, for the game on Saturday. All right,
- 28:14Speaker 1: so we'll check. We'll see the suitors when they're opener
- 28:19Speaker 1: at home against Old Miss, an Old Miss team that's struggling.
- 28:24Speaker 1: But see what happens Saturday. Should be a good crop.

- 31:29Speaker 1: it's not. Working what do you mean it's not? Working
- 31:32Speaker 1: you just well you just changed it. Up if you
- 31:34Speaker 1: just put your headphones.
- 31:36Speaker 10: On you and it didn't work WHEN i put them.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Off, no it didn't work in both. Ears it didn't
- 31:41Speaker 1: work at.
- 31:42Speaker 10: All now it's in this. YEAR i fixed.
- 31:43Speaker 1: It, Well, no don't move back right. There you've hurt my.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Neck you brought Some. Uh, Yes i've been reminded by
- 31:54Speaker 1: a listener THAT i already knew, that AND i thought
- 31:57Speaker 1: that was closer to. Right auburn was thirty two and
- 32:00Speaker 1: six last. Year they lost only six games all last,
- 32:02Speaker 1: year and they've.
- 32:03Speaker 10: Lost six times in their last seventy four GAMES.
- 32:06Speaker 1: A hall at? Home, yes how many Of how many
- 32:09Speaker 1: of those have been TO a AND m twice including last?
- 32:13Speaker 3: Night?
- 32:14Speaker 1: Yes, okay it just seems like MORE a And m's
- 32:18Speaker 1: beating them, Here, okay.
- 32:19Speaker 10: Because they've won five of the last. Six, Okay so
- 32:23Speaker 10: there's some splits in, there. Okay and there was a
- 32:26Speaker 10: tournament game in.
- 32:27Speaker 1: There oh that's, Right, yes there was a tournament game in. There,
- 32:31Speaker 1: okay but tell me about the home record.
- 32:35Speaker 10: Again every team that has Beaten auburn At auburn since
- 32:40Speaker 10: they've opened the new building in those seventy four games
- 32:43Speaker 10: has gone to THE ncaa.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Tournament they haven't lost a lot in those seventy four. Games,
- 32:50Speaker 1: no so every team who has gone in there and.
- 32:53Speaker 10: Won except for a team that beat them last night
- 32:56Speaker 10: because they're not in the tournament. Yet previously to last,
- 33:01Speaker 10: night every team that had beaten In.
- 33:03Speaker 1: But you just, said but BUT a AND m won
- 33:05Speaker 1: won a game at that, arena and they that year
- 33:07Speaker 1: they went to the Turn, yes it. Did, okay so
- 33:10Speaker 1: EVERY i don't think that's gonna be not because IT'S
- 33:12Speaker 1: a AND. M i don't think that's going to be
- 33:14Speaker 1: the case this.
- 33:14Speaker 10: Year because you think is losing some more.
- 33:16Speaker 1: GAINS i.
- 33:17Speaker 10: DO i think those assistant coaches might have them coached
- 33:21Speaker 10: up next. Game, look, uh are we going to cry
- 33:25Speaker 10: crocodile tears for Baby? Pearl?
- 33:28Speaker 1: No, No i'm not crying any tears for any of,
- 33:32Speaker 1: them any of those.
- 33:33Speaker 10: People, like could you in your first blush with him
- 33:37Speaker 10: being the coach IN a AND m playing them and
- 33:39Speaker 10: you getting to see how he, acts you, know with You, payton.
- 33:43Speaker 1: His demeanor is slightly different than his.
- 33:45Speaker 10: Father's, Right BUT i got no crocodile tears for.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Him, WELL i don't. EITHER i JUST i think anybody
- 33:54Speaker 1: that steps into a position whose father has been very
- 33:57Speaker 1: successful is it's really difficult to deal, with really. Difficult
- 34:03Speaker 1: and especially and we've had this conversation many. Times there's
- 34:09Speaker 1: a few that have exceeded their father in all, sports,
- 34:13Speaker 1: yes but but not as. Many h most more have
- 34:18Speaker 1: failed than have succeeded in being better than their, father, right.
- 34:21Speaker 10: AND i and and and look at you, know Young
- 34:25Speaker 10: patino is a good basketball.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Coach no.
- 34:27Speaker 10: Doubt he's just not ever going to be as successful
- 34:30Speaker 10: as his. Father but he also wasn't at any place
- 34:35Speaker 10: where his dad was, coaching and then was anointed the new,
- 34:38Speaker 10: coach which is fine with. Me you know why BECAUSE
- 34:42Speaker 10: a AND m is going to Have bucky and he's
- 34:45Speaker 10: not going to be At auburn.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Because, YEAH i know what you're saying.
- 34:49Speaker 10: There, yeah because if if he was still At sanford
- 34:54Speaker 10: And auburn craters LIKE i think they're going to, crater
- 34:58Speaker 10: there's a there's a somebody that can go get Because
- 35:01Speaker 10: sanford would have been good again this. Year, yeah So
- 35:07Speaker 10: i'm HAPPY i get the best of both.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Worlds, yeah Take.
- 35:09Speaker 10: Auburn's terrible And bucky McMillan's.
- 35:12Speaker 1: A AND ms Coach auburn's not. Terrible i'm SAYING i
- 35:15Speaker 1: want that on. Record they will be. Terrible you mean all,
- 35:18Speaker 1: Year i'm saying by the end of the. Year, YEAH
- 35:21Speaker 1: i think they're gonna be doing like their football team.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Did you don't think they're going to be a tournament.
- 35:26Speaker 10: TEAM i think they're going to spiral down to AN
- 35:28Speaker 10: nt level.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Time, OH i don't. Know they've got some TALENT i.
- 35:32Speaker 10: Understand and their losses before last, night we're all against
- 35:35Speaker 10: top twenty five.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Teams i'm not sure. What, yes they were against good. Teams,
- 35:39Speaker 1: Yes i'm not they played a really brutal. Schedule so,
- 35:43Speaker 1: yeah we do need to mention. THAT i don't know
- 35:45Speaker 1: what's wrong With.
- 35:45Speaker 10: Pettiford that was one of his better games last.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Night, YEAH i know at home he's been. Terrible, Right
- 35:53Speaker 1: he's shooting like twenty percent or sixteen percent at home for. Threes,
- 35:58Speaker 1: yes last night was one for, Six so that won't
- 36:01Speaker 1: help him improve his home. Percentage on the, road he's been.
- 36:05Speaker 1: INCREDIBLE i, mean you just don't see that very. Often,
- 36:10Speaker 1: NO i just think he's too good a player to
- 36:13Speaker 1: continue like. That BUT i don't know what's wrong with,
- 36:17Speaker 1: him but they need. Him but if you get This murphy,
- 36:22Speaker 1: kid who has obviously some hops With, hall you have
- 36:28Speaker 1: three really nice. Players that's not to say a coach
- 36:31Speaker 1: can't screw things. Up And i'm looking at looking at
- 36:37Speaker 1: these turnover statistics in The. Guard so one of their,
- 36:41Speaker 1: issues in my, mind is they don't have a floor.
- 36:47Speaker 1: General now are the Losses, okay.
- 36:51Speaker 10: Twenty twenty, five they lost at home To. Alabama twenty twenty,
- 36:53Speaker 10: five they lost at home To. Florida twenty twenty, four
- 36:56Speaker 10: they lost To. Kentucky twenty twenty, three they lost to
- 36:59Speaker 10: Ann and twenty twenty three they lost.
- 37:01Speaker 3: TO a AND.
- 37:02Speaker 1: M that's.
- 37:03Speaker 10: It that's. It sixty four and six their last five.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Years so the fans are. Spoiled they're not used to
- 37:12Speaker 1: they're not used to seeing what they saw last.
- 37:14Speaker 10: Night that guy that tried to hit the officials was
- 37:17Speaker 10: after the buzzer as well with his.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Drink yeah he missed, him he.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Missed.
- 37:21Speaker 1: YEAH i don't THINK i want to go into a
- 37:27Speaker 1: long officiating. Rant NOW i don't think, It i've done.
- 37:30Speaker 10: It no, wait, wait, WAIT i don't get to have an.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Official you can have all the rent you. Want i'll
- 37:35Speaker 1: give you time to. Rent, OKAY i didn't think last
- 37:38Speaker 1: night's game was officiated any differently than most every OTHER
- 37:42Speaker 1: sec game by watch every. WEEK i.
- 37:45Speaker 10: Agree. Okay that being, said the jump ball with ag
- 37:54Speaker 10: was a turning point in that. Game he had called
- 37:57Speaker 10: time out plenty of time before he was engaged By.
- 38:01Speaker 10: Auburn that could have been a game changer to have
- 38:06Speaker 10: the clock go from one point seven seconds to two
- 38:09Speaker 10: seconds and then you shoot the free throw that locks
- 38:14Speaker 10: it at two, seconds WHICH i think was wrong, Anyway
- 38:17Speaker 10: it should have been one point. Seven when you throw a, pitch,
- 38:23Speaker 10: run another football, play whatever you. Do when you do
- 38:26Speaker 10: something in the, game you can't go back to the previous.
- 38:29Speaker 10: Play in all these sports.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Chips the only time you see something like that is
- 38:37Speaker 1: with a. Golten, yeah they can change that at a break,
- 38:41Speaker 1: right at a. Timeout, yep they can change a three point.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Shot whether his toe was on the, line, yes but
- 38:46Speaker 1: that has nothing to do with.
- 38:48Speaker 10: The, clock has nothing to do with the. Clock to
- 38:50Speaker 10: move that to two point four WHILE a AND m is,
- 38:52Speaker 10: calling their, making their decision on what they're going to
- 38:57Speaker 10: do could be completely different if they think there's another
- 39:01Speaker 10: half second in the, game.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Which. There apparently there ended up being another half second
- 39:07Speaker 1: in the, Game yes there, Was, okay even, so that's
- 39:11Speaker 1: almost a full second that was added to the.
- 39:13Speaker 10: Clock, okay the FASTEST i could on my on my
- 39:18Speaker 10: doing a stop watch was zero point seven. Seconds and
- 39:22Speaker 10: that's what me anticipating in him catching the ball and
- 39:25Speaker 10: turning and. Shooting, Okay AND i watched enough press conferences.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Today does That does that mean that the clock is
- 39:34Speaker 1: supposed to start when the guy touches the multi? Ball,
- 39:37Speaker 1: okay just.
- 39:39Speaker 10: CHECKING i saw enough press conferences today that every clock
- 39:44Speaker 10: in the arena except the ones at the end which are,
- 39:47Speaker 10: official was off by point two.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Seconds, CORRECT i saw.
- 39:52Speaker 10: That so that has a major impact on the. Game
- 39:58Speaker 10: so all of that be. Set this is a game of.
- 40:03Speaker 10: Milliseconds don't be laid On. Saturday that was. Cold that was,
- 40:09Speaker 10: cold AND i liked.
- 40:10Speaker 8: It.
- 40:12Speaker 10: UH i don't think the. Interaction i'm just gonna. GUESS
- 40:17Speaker 10: i Think bucky was An alabama fan growing.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Up you think. SO i think he. Was he doesn't Like.
- 40:22Speaker 1: AUBURN i think he.
- 40:23Speaker 10: Was An alabama. Fan, now if you had been the
- 40:26Speaker 10: head coach At, Auburn i'm sure he would. Be i've
- 40:28Speaker 10: always been An auburn. FAN i, mean you're not gonna
- 40:31Speaker 10: bite the hand that feeds. You, yeah, okay but all
- 40:34Speaker 10: of those things normally don't end up with the team
- 40:38Speaker 10: that has all that stuff done against him getting a. Dub.
- 40:42Speaker 1: YEAH i. WAS i gotta SAY i was a little.
- 40:44Speaker 1: SURPRISED i, mean it should, again shouldn't have come to.
- 40:47Speaker 1: It didn't never should have come to that.
- 40:51Speaker 10: CHIP i don't know.
- 40:52Speaker 1: How but when it happened and that shot goes, through
- 40:57Speaker 1: you're going that it's just, impossible, RIGHT i, mean it's
- 41:02Speaker 1: just well because you can't do.
- 41:03Speaker 10: IT i WATCHED i Watched Ralph sampson do that against The.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Lakers that was just a flip.
- 41:09Speaker 10: Shot well, no it was a three, pointer but he redirected.
- 41:13Speaker 10: It the ball was thrown towards, him towards the, basket
- 41:17Speaker 10: and he redirected it in a in a as good
- 41:20Speaker 10: AN nba shot in that situation As i've ever. Seen
- 41:23Speaker 10: last night was catch the, ball turn around and shoot
- 41:27Speaker 10: do you know? Where AND i want to see something
- 41:29Speaker 10: from THE nbc conference.
- 41:31Speaker 1: WHERE i was on the that won't. Happen why not
- 41:35Speaker 1: because they don't hold their officiating publicly, accountable which is
- 41:40Speaker 1: a huge part of the. Issue That's i'll hold another
- 41:43Speaker 1: discussion which we've had. ONGOING i remember WHERE i was
- 41:48Speaker 1: When Ralph sampson made that. Shot where were? YOU i
