- 0:18Speaker 1: Welcome back to creep Cast. We are talking about one
- 0:26of the OG classics. I couldn't find an official date.
- 0:29There's been some speculation of when exactly this thing was
- 0:33live or whatever. I don't know. Today we're talking about
- 0:37Jeff the Killer. If you haven't heard of Jeff the Killer,
- 0:41you've probably seen this image here. I feel like everybody
- 0:44on the Internet has seen this image, at least.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Most classic Internet images.
- 0:49Speaker 1: It's a good one.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I like it.
- 0:51Speaker 1: You know, it's one of those It's a nice blown
- 0:53out image.
- 0:54Speaker 2: You know.
- 0:55Speaker 1: It kind of works in a bunch of different ways.
- 0:56I feel like it works in some comedy memes while
- 0:59also being a spooky It's it's a jack of all trades,
- 1:02which I enjoy.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I'm jumping the gun a little bit on the analysis,
- 1:05but I truly think the most impactful thing to come
- 1:08out of the entire story is the is that image.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Uh, it is probably the only not.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Just for Jeff the Killer, but for like where Internet
- 1:19horror went as a whole, Like this was one of
- 1:21the first images that was kind of in that shaky
- 1:24like found footage. There's something in my house tone, and
- 1:27that's like most of what you know, Internet horror became
- 1:30after that, so.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I think it does have that. Yeah, it does have
- 1:34that mendelic catalog kind of vibes. Yes, like that kind
- 1:37of like weird uncanny.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks like someone like was being attacked and
- 1:43uploaded it right before they died. You know. It gives
- 1:45that whole vibe to it. M hm. So I think
- 1:48I think the most impactful thing to come out of
- 1:50this whole story was that image, and that was the peak,
- 1:53because it's all downhill from there.
- 1:55Speaker 1: It is, it is. This is an interesting one because
- 1:57we started off with the search and rescue s here,
- 2:00which we both enjoyed, and it's like kind of it's
- 2:02just like a very fun, well written classic. This is uh,
- 2:06this is just this age is like sour milk. I mean,
- 2:08if I had to, if I had to, Literally, when
- 2:11I got done reading this, I thought to myself, Okay,
- 2:13this is like it's this is if they tried to
- 2:16make a superhero out of a school shooter. Is what
- 2:18it sounds like. That's exactly what it read like. School
- 2:22shooter vigil ante is what it reads. And there's a
- 2:25lot of influences and especially because I saw here that uh,
- 2:29no one knows where the photo, like, there's no specified photo.
- 2:32But apparently the version that we read that I think
- 2:34is the most popular isn't even the original version. There's
- 2:38something I'm reading here called the the Cessor version. I
- 2:41don't know if I can pronounce that correctly. I don't
- 2:43know if you know if you know that word. But
- 2:45on October third of two thousand and eight, Cessor s
- 2:49s E S. S. Susser, doctor Seusser, the Seuser version.
- 2:56You're probably right, but that individual uploaded a video titled
- 3:00Jeff the Killer Original Story on YouTube, and that video
- 3:03predates the famous Creepypasta story. So I'm guessing that the
- 3:06Creepypasta story came out around the same time as that,
- 3:10probably in the two thousand and eight which I'm also
- 3:12correct around two thousand and eight is when The Dark
- 3:14Knight came out, which feels even more in spot, like
- 3:19I feel like they literally saw Heath Ledger's Joker and
- 3:22were like.
- 3:22Speaker 3: That's the coolest thing I've ever.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Seen in my life, because it feels like there's so
- 3:27many call outs to that in this story. But yeah,
- 3:32there's apparently the Susser version. You know, there's there's some
- 3:37different kinds of delineation, some differences, but you know, the
- 3:43one that people at least the one that I read,
- 3:45the one that seems to be more famous, is the
- 3:46one that was re uploaded or like the reboot or
- 3:49whatever of the original version, which is the one we
- 3:53decided to read together. But yeah, no, I mean, without
- 3:57without further ado, I think let's just kind of jump
- 3:59into it.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I am so excited. So yeah, it seems like, at
- 4:03least from what we can tell, historically, there was a
- 4:07YouTube video uploaded, like a short little thing just to
- 4:10show off the face, to show that like it was
- 4:12creepy whoever made it, and then the story got made
- 4:15like shortly thereafter, to go along with the face and
- 4:18give it an explanation. That's what it seems like happened
- 4:24to this day. It's a point of debate where the
- 4:26Jeff the Killer image came from. There's some people who
- 4:29say it came from it's like this selfie a girl
- 4:32posted like early MySpace, but that rob yeah, you know,
- 4:36you know the what I'm talking about right where she's
- 4:38kind of in a dark room. But that's been debunked.
- 4:42There were theories of it being like a school project
- 4:45for a scary story, but then that's god debunked, like
- 4:47there's it's still a mystery where the image came from,
- 4:49but looks like it was the image, and then the
- 4:51story got attached to it. And one of the reasons
- 4:53I wanted to talk about this today is Hunter and
- 4:56I were discussing, like, oh, what other famous early Internet
- 5:00horror story should we cover? So a lot of good
- 5:03ones came to my mind, like No End House, the
- 5:06Showers Brosca, and the Stairs in the Woods that we
- 5:10talked about last episode, so like, there's so many good stories.
- 5:15But then while we were thinking about it, I said,
- 5:18you know, it's a little disingenuous to say every single
- 5:23early Internet horror story was good, not to say it
- 5:27wasn't effective. Because Jeff the Killer terrified me for months
- 5:31on end when that story came out, when I saw
- 5:33that face, and then as I was thinking about it,
- 5:36I'm like, man, I'm sure it is way worse than
- 5:39I remember. So to give some context, Hunter has compiled
- 5:42this document and like read the stuff to make the
- 5:45document out. I haven't looked at this story in over
- 5:48ten years, so I'm I'm so ready for whatever it's.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Truly, it's truly a yin and yang kind of situation
- 5:56of somebody who is going in already having all the
- 6:00bullets and now you're going in with you know, hell
- 6:02fire raining down on you. So I hope you're ready.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember the broad strokes of the story, but
- 6:07like I said, it's been a while, so I can't
- 6:09wait for how terrible this is gonna be.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Yes, and without further ado, I will get us started
- 6:14in here. We also heard some feedback from your guys
- 6:16and stuff, so we will be reading directly from it
- 6:18and you know, getting you all lucy and juicy in
- 6:22the story here. So here we go. The story starts
- 6:26with an excerpt from a local news paper talking about
- 6:28how the killer is still in the loose and on
- 6:30the rise. Very little, very little evidence has been gathered,
- 6:33but a young boy surviving an attack from the killer
- 6:36and tells a story which is, to me, was just
- 6:38kind of a funny way to start the story. It's like,
- 6:41because this.
- 6:42Speaker 2: So many early horror stories did that, you know, like
- 6:45the whole they try to do the cold open thing,
- 6:50but the cold open is always just like there's a death,
- 6:54someone died, and then it just it just jumps to
- 6:57something else.
- 6:58Speaker 1: That is true. Yeah, which I was gonna say, do
- 7:01you do you want to read as the young boy
- 7:02or do you want me to read as a young boy.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I'll take it. I'll take this one because again this
- 7:07is all this is like meeting a childhood friend only
- 7:11to find out that he's like a crack addict now
- 7:13and like homeless. So like this, this is gonna be
- 7:17sad for me because like.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Hale as old as time itself.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, of course the whole crack addict high school
- 7:22friends story we all know it, of course, but like
- 7:25this story was one of like my first exposures to
- 7:28internet whoror and we see how that you know, lineage
- 7:31took place in my life. So this is gonna be
- 7:33really depressing for me. So I'll go ahead and start.
- 7:36I had a bad dream and I woke up in
- 7:40the middle of the night, says the boy.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Oh come on, Well, first off, you gotta give us
- 7:44more of a boy than that. If if he's a
- 7:47little boy, come on, now.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I had a bad dream. Is that better?
- 7:51Speaker 1: It's horrible, Okay, go back to the regular.
- 7:53Speaker 2: But I think I think I caught something when I
- 8:04went to the range day, like the one of the
- 8:06eight hundred influencers gave it to me.
- 8:09Speaker 1: So, yeah, you definitely got sick from one of the
- 8:11eight hundred influence.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yeah that or I got shot. I can't tell. But
- 8:14either way, the little boy voice isn't happening today. So
- 8:17we're going back to my first step. All right, okay, right,
- 8:20I'm also holding the microphone closer to my mouth to
- 8:23blow out everyone's speakers. I had a bad dream, and
- 8:29I woke up in the middle of the night, says
- 8:31the boy. I saw that for some reason, the window
- 8:34was open, even though I remember it being closed before
- 8:37I went to bed. I got up and shut it
- 8:40once more. Afterwards, I simply crawled under my covers and
- 8:44tried to get back to sleep. Wait, hold on, hold on,
- 8:47immediately immediately, How old is the boy in this story?
- 8:50Speaker 1: They This is one of the most frustrating things about
- 8:53this entire thing is they do not give any agent
- 8:55about any of the fucking care.
- 8:56Speaker 2: All right, so let's say, let's say it's the kid
- 8:59who's like I had a dream, woke up in the
- 9:00middle of night. Let's be generous and say he's ten.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Okay, I was gonna say ten. I think ten.
- 9:04Speaker 2: It's fair it's a fair ten is a boy, right,
- 9:07that's a fair point.
- 9:08Speaker 1: It's a boy, so little boy.
- 9:09Speaker 2: There's a ten year old who is speaking to the
- 9:12police about attempted murder, and he says, I got up
- 9:16and shut it once more. Afterwards, I simply crawled it like,
- 9:20could you imagine a child speaking this way? I can't,
- 9:23we can't.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Afterwards, I simply crawled under my cover. Yeah no, it
- 9:28doesn't work. No, And then it feels even weird where
- 9:32it's like a nineteen year old having this play this
- 9:36kind of thing and referring to it as a boy.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I had a nightmare and I woke up.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got scared. I went to
- 9:42find my mommy. We can't do this for the whole
- 9:45like thing, because we'll be here all day. I'm sure. Yeah,
- 9:49I just have a feeling so that that's my blanket
- 9:52criticism for the whole story. Children don't talk that way anyway.
- 9:56That's when I had a strange feeling like someone was
- 9:59watching it. I looked up and nearly jumped out of
- 10:02my bed there in the little ray of light illuminating
- 10:06from between my curtains. I'm just sorry, I said, I
- 10:11just said I wouldn't keep criticizing it for that, But
- 10:13that's so funny. Illuminating from between my.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Curtains, it's HP Lovecraft as a child, It's it's ten
- 10:22year old HP Craft.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's illuminating from my behind me, Betweet, a pair
- 10:28of two eyes.
- 10:29Speaker 1: It's like, how old are you?
- 10:30Speaker 3: I'm shoven.
- 10:34Speaker 2: It's like, what what's that? That actor Keith David with
- 10:37all the cool voices? This was Keith David.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I would love if this was
- 10:41Keith David.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I'm sure we could. I'm sure we could pay him
- 10:44for a cameo, get him to narrate.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I have to think, so, oh yeah, that'd.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Be a good use for podcast funds anyway. Illuminating from
- 10:52between my curtains were a pair of two eyes. These
- 10:55weren't regular eyes. They were dark ominous eye, the dark
- 11:00ominous eyes. They were bordered in black and just plain
- 11:05out terrified me. That's when I saw his mouth, a long,
- 11:09horrendous smile that made every hair on my body stand up.
- 11:14The figure stood there watching me. Finally, after what seemed
- 11:18like forever, he said it a simple phrase, but said
- 11:22in a way only a madman could speak. He said
- 11:26go to sleep. I let out a scream. That's what
- 11:30sent him at me. He pulled up a knife, aiming
- 11:33at my heart. He jumped on top of my bed.
- 11:36I fought him back. I kicked, I punched, I rolled around,
- 11:39trying to knock him off me. That's when my dad
- 11:42busted in. The man threw the knife. It went into
- 11:45my dad's shoulder. The man probably, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
- 11:50I just just the thought of, like, I know, movies
- 11:54do it all the time, but it's really not that
- 11:56easy to throw a knife.
- 11:57Speaker 1: And like, trust me, as soon as you get done
- 12:01with this this blurb, I have.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Power through all right, the man through the knife. It
- 12:08went into my dad's shoulder. The man probably would have
- 12:11finished him off if one of the neighbors hadn't alerted
- 12:13the police. They what okay, uh. They drove into the
- 12:17parking lot and ran towards the door. The man turned
- 12:21and ran down the hallway. I heard a smash, like
- 12:24glass breaking. As I came out of my room, I
- 12:26saw the window that was pointing towards the back of
- 12:28my house was broken. I looked out it to see him.
- 12:32I looked out it to see him vanish into the distance.
- 12:36I can tell you one thing, I will never forget
- 12:39that face, those cold, evil eyes, and that psychotic smile.
- 12:45They will never leave my head.
- 12:48Speaker 1: So this is the preamble entry into this story. We
- 12:51haven't even gotten into who her main characters are. This
- 12:54is just the excerpt from a survivor of something. Now,
- 12:57let me tell you something. This is not a horrible
- 13:00way to begin a story of a preamble of some
- 13:03kind of newscast. It's fun. We see it in some
- 13:05kind of movies. The problem with this for me is one,
- 13:09like you said, the child doesn't sound like a child.
- 13:12And then also there's a couple things. One, if we
- 13:15are to assume that that is a child, am I
- 13:18supposed to be something afraid of, something that can be
- 13:21overpowered and kicked off by a tender Okay? What number one?
- 13:27And the number two with the dad coming in, Is
- 13:34it supposed to be bad ass that that this smiling
- 13:37character can throw a knife to such a perfect degree
- 13:41and hit the dad in the shoulder, Like, is this
- 13:43is now an action sequence? It completely takes out any
- 13:48of the actual suspense and terror of anything going on.
- 13:51When I'm like, okay, now this is just turning it
- 13:53like I'm picturing this smiling figures like Jason Statham or
- 13:57something like that, like a tiny little man. But I
- 14:02don't know this, this this whole thing. And then the.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Police showing up, one of the worst because it's like
- 14:09nothing was happening. He was hiding in the room. And
- 14:12the struggle lasts maybe half a minute, maybe a minute,
- 14:15and the police are in the driveway because the neighbor
- 14:17called them, what.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Like well, yeah, like what, well, how did the neighbor even?
- 14:22And this is all very nitpicky. We can get of course,
- 14:26we are here to bitch and complaints.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I just want to.
- 14:30Speaker 1: But but but I guess it's just the thing of
- 14:32like don't don't immediately give the character an out, Like
- 14:37don't give the villain like an out immediately, or the
- 14:40the the victims an out. I should say what it's like, well,
- 14:43thank god, the neighbors just kind of so happened to
- 14:45hear something. It takes away all of the weight and momentum.
- 14:49But I do. But this is going to come back later.
- 14:51I do want to put this out later because like
- 14:53I said, I thought that this was interesting, But I
- 14:56will be harping on it later. So we are now
- 14:59introduced to our main character, Jeff, a young man presumably
- 15:02mid teens, because once again, God forbid they give us
- 15:04any kind of age to really give an idea, not
- 15:08even like a grade like they say, because the old
- 15:10thing here is where he's presumably mid teens, just you know,
- 15:13him and his family just moved to quote a new
- 15:16fancy neighborhood following his dad's promotion at work. Jeff along
- 15:20with his mom whose name is Margaret, and his dad Peter,
- 15:23and Jeff has a younger brother named Lou, who are
- 15:26kind of just going along with this new place. But
- 15:28they're living in this you know, they're.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Like, it's cool that this is a news this is
- 15:31coming to me.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Oh no, yeah, we're in a new neighborhood and it's
- 15:35cool because dad got a promotion and we live in
- 15:37a quote unquote fancy neighborhood. But then they're interrupted by
- 15:42their neighbor, Barbara, who stops by to introduce herself and
- 15:45her son named Billy, who seems to be much younger
- 15:47than Jeff and his brother Lou, but invites them over
- 15:50to Billy's birthday party, in which Jeff's mom agrees to
- 15:53have them all over, but Jeff isn't having it, and
- 15:56he quote says, mom, why would you invite us to
- 15:59say kids party? If you haven't noticed, I'm not some
- 16:03dumb kid. That's a legitimate quote.
- 16:06Speaker 2: That was actually like, I forget until you do it
- 16:09that you can actually do impressions really well, because.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I can do the quotes from now and if you
- 16:15want me to, I'll do.
- 16:16Speaker 2: I'll do the quotes. I can do the reading, but
- 16:18I need you to do the children.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I'll do. Yeah, I can do the I'll do the acting. Cool.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Cool, that sounds good, It sounds dope, all right, Uh yeah,
- 16:25I'm remembering details of this story now. It does follow
- 16:30like everything so far as a stereotype like cold open.
- 16:33Someone tries to die, tries to die, it tries to
- 16:37not die, you know what I mean, they tried to die.
- 16:40Someone tries to die. Yeah, and then it's like, well,
- 16:43we just moved to the new neighborhood, but the neighbors
- 16:46are you know, it feels very very night standard. Yeah.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I immediately started. I mean, like the beginning blurb sure
- 16:53has his mistakes, but it wasn't until this direct quote,
- 16:56which is why I put it in here where I said,
- 16:58oh god, we're in for. This is going to be
- 17:00some schlocky cheesy which I have no idea who wrote
- 17:04this story, but I assume it was someone who was
- 17:07probably around the same age as Jeff, which is also
- 17:10probably why they never allude to the actual age of anybody,
- 17:14because they're just like, that's my age, you know, That's
- 17:16how I'm seeing it. Yeah, but I love that. I
- 17:18love this line. It feels like something out of a
- 17:20cheesy like extremely be to your.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Horror filled like the other kids, mom, why would.
- 17:26Speaker 1: You invite us to some kids party if you haven't
- 17:29noticed I'm not some dumb kid, which is so cliche
- 17:34of like I'm older now, mom, I'm an old kid.
- 17:37But it doesn't come across as like also like genuine
- 17:42or charismatic. It comes across as fucking like annoying. And
- 17:45it immediately sets in my mind that Jeff is an incel.
- 17:49I immediately started saying he's like a Reddit four chan
- 17:52kid who's like god. And then now, because then I
- 17:55started reading, I was like, oh god, his line read
- 17:57so much better.
- 17:58Speaker 4: If it is like this and he's like, mob, why
- 18:02wouldn't you invite us to some kids pozy? If you
- 18:05haven't though thisiced I'm not some dumb kid. God, it's
- 18:11so much better. It's like a nasally annoying, like we
- 18:15got moved into this fancy neighborhood, thanks dad.
- 18:19Speaker 2: It does keep it does keep the tone of like,
- 18:25don't you know I'm better than this, don't you know
- 18:27I'm above all this? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I'm supposed to be on rud Escape. I don't want
- 18:32to be hanging out with Billy. I'm supposed to be
- 18:36killing rats and run escape.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I have better things to do than socialized mom.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Yeah, you're idiot, but Jeff's But Jeff's mom. She'sn't having
- 18:47it all right, she doesn't give a shit. She's like,
- 18:49you're gonna go to the party, all right, that's final.
- 18:52She's like, you know, we need a socialized you to
- 18:54get out of your room and stop playing RuneScape. That's
- 18:56that's an ad lib. That that's you know, that's not
- 18:58in the story. But this what I like to think.
- 19:00And Jeff goes up to his room, realizing that arguing
- 19:03with his mom isn't going to get him anywhere. But
- 19:05then something strange happens and quote this is from the story.
- 19:09He says he walked up to his room and plopped
- 19:12down on his bed. He sat there looking at his
- 19:14ceiling when suddenly he got a weird feeling, not so
- 19:18much a pain, but a weird feeling. He dismissed it
- 19:22as if some random feeling. He heard his mother call
- 19:25him down to get his stuff, and he walked down
- 19:28to get it.
- 19:31Speaker 2: So I like about this is it seems a very feeling.
- 19:35Speaker 1: He had a feeling that was a feeling. It wasn't
- 19:37a painful feeling, but it was a weird feeling, which
- 19:41I don't know what kind of mental psychosis Jeff is
- 19:44starting to feel. But this is where I'm like, this
- 19:46is immediately once again, like I said, it's gonna start
- 19:50coming full circle. But this little thing is it doesn't
- 19:53feel like a feeling. It feels like mental deterioration. It
- 19:56feels like somebody going kind of becoming a bit wacky,
- 20:01is what I would.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I completely forgot about this until just now that that
- 20:06was something they tried to build in that like this child,
- 20:09this child is just setting in his bed and he's
- 20:12he gets a feeling feeling. I completely forgot about that.
- 20:15This is way for the podcast. This is much better
- 20:19than I remember. But like objectively, this is way worse than.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I reading this whole preamel is you showed the
- 20:28how immature it is. But it's it's it's charming. I
- 20:31don't want to completely on it. It has a layer
- 20:34of charm to it, but it's the idea of like
- 20:36it's something charming because it's so it's so amateur. But
- 20:42it's like what what feeling though, Like I don't know
- 20:45what feeling is. It's like, it's a feeling. I literally
- 20:49thought that is true, it is a feeling. I was
- 20:51wondering at this I was wondering at this point is
- 20:53it going to go into magic because it's like it's
- 20:57not a pain feeling but a weird feeling. And I'm like,
- 21:00is he going to get super powerful?
- 21:02Speaker 2: I don't know, but by the end of the story
- 21:04he does, by the way, like I do. Yeah, yeah, yes. Also,
- 21:11but something I want to clarify if you've never for
- 21:14one one of the reasons we're making fun of it
- 21:16as much as we are is this is one of
- 21:17the bedrocks of like internet horror and one of the
- 21:19things that got me into it originally. So it's like
- 21:22making fun of my grandpa, right, like it it's very important.
- 21:26I recognize it's very important. I'm still gonna mock it
- 21:30for like throwing up at Thanksgiving, right because it's I.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Think that people also need to understand that sometimes when
- 21:37you point and you are having fun with something, it's
- 21:41not that necessarily you don't like it. But I think
- 21:42it's like you can you can laugh at things that
- 21:44you appreciate and that you like. I think that people
- 21:46don't understand that. I think that's why so many people
- 21:48get up in arms when it's like, you don't like
- 21:50this thing that I like, and it's like, I do
- 21:52like it, but it is kind of stupid and fun. Yeah,
- 21:55so I think that it's I I like plenty of
- 21:57things and I respect plenty of things that I love
- 21:59to point at that I know are objectively kind of shitty,
- 22:02but that's fine. Yeah, that's That's a part of the
- 22:05beautiful thing about just even these stories is that if
- 22:10you all of them were bangers, none of them would
- 22:12be remotely special. Like you have to have these kind
- 22:16of goofy ones to really appreciate not only the goofy
- 22:19stories but the ones that are made. Yeah, you know
- 22:22that are very good.
- 22:22Speaker 2: But anyways, hey, everyone so I wanted to take a

- 24:59Speaker 1: Jeff has a similar feeling the next day, feeling. He
- 25:03has a feeling the nextel, all right, except this time
- 25:06he compares it to a tugging pain. So I'm like, okay,
- 25:08well now he's having a heart attack or something. I
- 25:10don't know what's happening to him. But he dismisses it.
- 25:12Good man, you know, Jeff, Jeff, he feels the pain.
- 25:16He says, whatever, I don't care. And Jeff and his
- 25:18brother finished their breakfast and go to the bus stop
- 25:20where we get maybe one of the cringiest antagonist intros ever,
- 25:24which is a boy named Randy.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Yes, and please do absolutely also for everyone listening if
- 25:31you think we're jumping, because we went from a murder
- 25:33description at the beginning to this. That's how the story goes.
- 25:36Speaker 1: This is the legitimate flow of the story.
- 25:38Speaker 2: We have not skipped anything. It goes from someone almost
- 25:42nine to I'm not like those other kids, and then
- 25:45what I'm about to read? Okay, yeah, all right, So
- 25:48referring to the bullies at the bus stop, they sat
- 25:52there waiting for the bus, and then all of a sudden,
- 25:56some kid on a skateboard jumped over them, only inches
- 25:59above their laps. They both jumped back in surprise. Hey
- 26:03what the hell? The kid landed and turned back to them.
- 26:07He kicked his skateboard up and caught it with his hands.
- 26:10The kid seems to be about twelve, one year younger
- 26:13than Jeff. Oh, we got an age. Jeff is thirteen,
- 26:17Jeff's thirteen, Jeff thirteen. Okay, cool, that makes this way
- 26:20worse for him. But continuing, the kid seems to be
- 26:25about twelve one year younger than Jeff. He wears an
- 26:29air Apostle shirt and wears blue jeans. So Jeff and
- 26:36his brother are at the buzz stead and then this kid,
- 26:39as described an Air Apostle shirt of ripped jeans, jumps
- 26:43a skateboard over them. Well, well, well it looks like
- 26:46we got some new meats a twelve year old.
- 26:51Speaker 1: It's a twelve year old.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Suddenly two other kids appeared. One was super skinny and
- 27:01the other was huge. Well, since you're new here, I'd
- 27:04like to introduce ourselves. Over there is Keith, Jeff and
- 27:10Lou look over to the skinny kid. He had a
- 27:13dopey face that you would expect a sidekick to have.
- 27:19That's pretty that's that's pretty mean to just be like,
- 27:22he looks like a sidekick.
- 27:24Speaker 1: You're a sidekick, Keith, you look just like a shidekick.
- 27:27He's like, really, I'm.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Keith and he's Troy. They look over at the fat kid.
- 27:37Talk about a tub of lard. That's not that's not
- 27:41a quote. That's the story calling him a tub of lard.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Yeah, from the story, talk about a tuble large.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Geez. The narrator had to be like, this kid was bad.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Well read the next line.
- 27:56Speaker 2: This kid looked like he had an exerciseense. He was crawling.
- 28:01What why is it a narrator telling us that.
- 28:06Speaker 1: I really want to put emphasis how fat this child
- 28:09is is such a problem in this country.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Character to explain to the audience how fat this person was.
- 28:18Speaker 3: He's large, so large.
- 28:20Speaker 2: And I said the first kid am Randy. Now for
- 28:25all the kids in this neighborhood, there's a small price
- 28:27for buzzfair if you catch my drift. This twelve year
- 28:30old's running a racketeering scam. If you catch that drift.
- 28:34Loose stood up ready to punch the lights out of
- 28:36the kid's eyes when one of his friends pulled a
- 28:39knife on him.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Bro, what exactly exactly?
- 28:45Speaker 2: Wait, dude, I think I just remembered where this is going.
- 28:48This story's insane. When I read this at like eleven
- 28:51years old, this all made sense. I'm like, Yeah, this
- 28:53is a clear this is clearly a viable like story,
- 28:57this could happen. But oh my gosh.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hitting every possible cliche it can. It's trying
- 29:04to be seven different stories so far, it's trying to be.
- 29:08It's basically like it starts off with ad Jason Statham
- 29:11action sequence and now it's veering its way into like
- 29:13it territory is what it feels like. Like the weird
- 29:16like bullies who had like they're like speak easy like
- 29:19nineteen fifties doop haircuts and knives and they're riding skateboards
- 29:24and they're like, hey, kiss tiss tiss. You know what
- 29:26I mean, I'm.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Literally pull a knife on another child.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, which which also, what child did you ever
- 29:34know growing up who had like a butterfly knife?
- 29:37Speaker 2: What?
- 29:38Speaker 1: What child at all did you know growing up threaten
- 29:41somebody with a knife that wasn't born in nineteen thirty three.
- 29:45Speaker 2: I'll give you this from East Tennessee. I knew a
- 29:49lot of kids had knives, like because we thought it
- 29:51was cool. I never I was never in a knife fight.
- 29:54I never knew someone my age who got into a
- 29:56knife fight. That it doesn't happen that much.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess it could just be like a random
- 30:02litle pocket knife. I just always imagine like the one
- 30:05that you clicked to, like the butterfly now for when
- 30:07you like click it like.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's like.
- 30:10Speaker 1: A yeah exactly, like one of those where it's just like,
- 30:16don't be screaming to nobody.
- 30:18Speaker 2: You'll be sleeping with the fishes.
- 30:21Speaker 1: You'll be sleeping with the fishes when I dice up
- 30:26with my little knife.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Literally a child not twelve years old, yeah, man, okay.
- 30:31Speaker 1: All right, does not have any ball hairs on his balls,
- 30:35just a prepyvescent child probably so yes, really, hey, I'm
- 30:39gonna cut you with my knife.
- 30:41Speaker 2: He sounds like Mickey Mouse, like he.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Does Mickey Mouse every prest and boy sounds like I
- 30:47digress ahead.
- 30:49Speaker 2: So after he fools a knife, he says, tiss, tiss, tiss.
- 30:53I had hoped you would be more cooperative. Okay, all right,
- 30:59we're gonna be here all day if I don't power through.
- 31:01Speaker 1: But oh my god, I have to just power throw.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. You like he's a like a sith lord,
- 31:07like he's Darth Vader. I hope you.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Young Jedi.
- 31:14Speaker 2: It's like Marlon Brando.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Okay, Marlon Brando, like Christopher Lee.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, all right, but it seems we must do
- 31:24this the hard way. The kid walked up to Lou
- 31:28and took his wallet out of his pocket. Jeff got
- 31:31that feeling again. There's that feeling now. It was truly strong,
- 31:36a burning sensation, kind of like you know, syphilis. Uh.
- 31:41He stood up, but Lou gestured him to sit down.
- 31:44Jeff ignored him and walked up to the kid. Listen, here,
- 31:48you little punk, give back my bros. Give back my
- 31:53bro's wallet or else. Randy put the wallet in his
- 31:56pocket and pulled out his own knife. Wait. I thought
- 31:58Randy was holding a knife one of the Did one
- 32:01of the other kids have a knife?
- 32:02Speaker 1: I think it was the other kid pulled it out.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Okay, there's multiple one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I gotcha. Gotcha.
- 32:09The sidekick or the tub of lard is the story
- 32:11called them.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it's true. The dopey faced sidekick, the genetic abomination,
- 32:16or the tub of lard.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Yeah, crash. Just so, Randy pulls out his own knife.
- 32:23Oh and what will you do? Just as he finished
- 32:26the sentence, Jeff popped the kid in the nose. As
- 32:29Randy reached for his face, Jeff grabbed the kid's wrist
- 32:32and broke it. What the Randy streamed, and Jeff grabbed
- 32:36the knife from his hand. Troy and Keith rushed Jeff,
- 32:40but Jeff was too quick. He threw Randy to the ground.
- 32:44Keith lashed out at him, but Jeff ducked and stabbed
- 32:47him in the arm. Keith dropped his knife and fell
- 32:51to the ground, screaming. Troy rushed him too, but Jeff
- 32:54didn't even need the knife. He just punched Troy straight
- 32:57in the stomach and Troy went down. As he fell,
- 33:00he puked all over. Lou could do nothing but look
- 33:03in amazement at Jeff.
- 33:05Speaker 1: What the what's again? Another concrete another amazing concrete action
- 33:11sequence of Jeff, the thirteen year old getting business done, basically.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Dodging stabbing people, like what the Yes, this is a
- 33:21this is also supposed to be This is also once.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Again we quote a fancy neighborhood, and yet there's all
- 33:26these rap scallion and hooligans going on like a nineteen
- 33:29fifties like do wop street warfare happening for something.
- 33:33Speaker 2: There is a class system in this neighborhood. The children
- 33:36are left to the animals that they are.
- 33:39Speaker 1: It is a literal lord of flies going on in
- 33:42this neighborhood. But they they seeing the bus coming, the
- 33:46Jeff and Lou, the brothers, they they they know that
- 33:49they're going to be blamed for the assault on these people,
- 33:51which you know, I mean, it is their problem, but
- 33:54there's a good justification of like three people coming nice.
- 33:58Speaker 2: I guess it's time to make come on, But you're
- 34:00also twelve.
- 34:01Speaker 1: They didn't know that they were getting ready to stab
- 34:02Jason Bourne, but still they didn't know what to do,
- 34:05so they decided to run away. Jeff and Lou decided
- 34:07to run away, only looking back to see the bus
- 34:09driver tending to Randy on the ground. The brothers went
- 34:11to school and didn't tell anybody what happened. And uh,
- 34:16this is this is another little excerpt from the story.
- 34:18It says all they did was sit and listen. Lu
- 34:21just thought. Lu just thought of that his brother beating
- 34:24up a few kids. But Jeff knew.
- 34:26Speaker 3: It was more it was something scary.
- 34:29Speaker 1: As he got that feeling, he felt, God, here we go,
- 34:32Good Lord, dude. As he got that feeling, he felt
- 34:35up was he got that feeling, he felt how powerful
- 34:38it was, the urge.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Just to hurt someone.
- 34:42Speaker 1: He didn't like how it sounded, but he couldn't help
- 34:44feeling happy. He felt that strange feeling go away and
- 34:48stay away for the entire day of school, even even
- 34:52as he walked home due to the whole thing near
- 34:54the bus stop. Wait what even as he walked home.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Due to the whole thing near the bus stop.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Bus stop, and how now he probably wouldn't be taking
- 35:04the bus anymore. Basically, even as he walked home, and
- 35:07how he wouldn't be taking the bus even.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Though he even though he realized he can't use the
- 35:10bus anymore, I see Okay.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, sorry, it's a good lord. When
- 35:15he got home, his parents asked him how his day was,
- 35:17and he said, in a somewhat ominous voice, it was
- 35:20a wonderful day.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Okay, hold on once again.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Once again, we're getting some very in cell energy now.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, like I said, for sure. But also
- 35:28there's no like he used the kids pulling a knife
- 35:33on him as an excuse to hurt them. He already
- 35:36had that feeling, as the story made clear, before that happened.
- 35:39So Jeff wants to hurt people because he moved to
- 35:43a nice neighborhood.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Jeff moving to a nice neighborhood was probably the worst
- 35:48thing that could have ever happened to him.
- 35:50Speaker 2: What he needs to kill people now? According to him?
- 35:53Speaker 1: Yeah, apparently now this this feeling, which the feeling that
- 35:56we're feeling, the feeling that we felt before, that we
- 35:58felt and we're feeling now that we felt that we
- 36:00feel is Jeff. Is Jeff basically being like, I feel
- 36:05like I want to hurt someone, which, once again, only
- 36:09as the narrative that does this not sound like some
- 36:12four chan in cel school shooter vibes? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 36:16I mean it's becoming more and more clear. So I
- 36:18was like, Okay, where are we going with this? Which
- 36:20the next morning, officers show up to Jeff's house wanting
- 36:22to speak with him about the assault on Randy, which
- 36:25is just funny. I like, you know, I love that.
- 36:27It's the salt on Randy. You hurt Randy, Jeff, he's
- 36:32twelve and he has a skateboard. Jeff, come on. Jeff
- 36:34tries to explain that Randy was the one who pulled
- 36:36the knife on them, but with the injuries Jeff looked.
- 36:39But with all of the injuries that Randy, the fat
- 36:42tub of shit and the skinny guy had, Jeff looked
- 36:45like a complete monster. You look too guilty. So Jeff
- 36:48confesses to the crime, and which this is funny. I
- 36:50do like that. This is also a direct quote. The
- 36:52officer literally says. After Jeff's like.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I did it, all right, I did it.
- 36:57Speaker 1: The officer says, will kid looks like a year in Juvie?
- 37:02Speaker 5: What what kind of red.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Damn you got to hear? And Juvie going your way?
- 37:13Speaker 2: You know what? You know? That actually further backs up
- 37:17your theory that this was written by like a kid
- 37:19or like you know, pre.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Telling high school whatever it has to.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Be, because only they would think that. Like the way
- 37:24it works is a cop shows up and it's like,
- 37:27you stab this kid, Well, i'll put you in Juvie
- 37:29a year, come.
- 37:29Speaker 1: On direct to Juvie with you, son. Ye looks like one,
- 37:35one exact year of Juvie. Come in your way, all right?
- 37:38Speaker 2: The bill, So that exactly, it's like, yeah, and I
- 37:41just decided that right now, and that's how it's gonna work.
- 37:43You're coming with me.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I am the judge and the executioner that you're going
- 37:47to be put to death.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Jeff, the author has never even heard of a courtroom.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Yeah, no, they they think that that's a made up
- 37:54place for a TV show.
- 37:55Speaker 2: And also also the idea that you can if the
- 37:59if the court finds that you maliciously stabbed another child,
- 38:04they're just like one year.
- 38:06Speaker 1: One exact year.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah to.
- 38:09Speaker 1: You, Jeff, the man with feelings? Who you felt Jeff?
- 38:12Are you feeling those feelings now? Maybe? Have you felt
- 38:16them when you feel them? Have you felt them when
- 38:18you feel them? And you felt them when you felt
- 38:21feeled Jeff?
- 38:23Speaker 2: Oh okay, hold on, hold on? Can I read this
- 38:26next part? This is so good. Yeah, go ahead, I'm
- 38:27looking at this text document right now. Okay. So cops like, well,
- 38:31it looks like you're going to jail for a year,
- 38:32and then says Lou interjects at the top of the
- 38:35stairs holding a knife, in which all the officers immediately
- 38:39pull out their guns and pointed at the child holding
- 38:43a kitchen knife. Oh my gosh. Lou confesses for the
- 38:49crime to say Jeff, and everyone just believes him, even
- 38:53though wouldn't Brandy tell them who didn't. But at the end,
- 39:03Jeff's mother consolets Jeff by saying, quote, Jeff, please, you
- 39:08don't have to lie. We know it's Lou. You can
- 39:11stop bro, bro Okay. So the cops like Randy's like, hey,
- 39:15I got stabbed by this kid who's a year older
- 39:18than me, and the cops go to his house and
- 39:20then they're like, well, you're going to jail for a year.
- 39:22But then an unrelated child is like, actually I did it,
- 39:27and the cops like works for me. He throws back
- 39:31kid literally, he just throws the police car. And then
- 39:35the mom's like, yeah, I mean sure it's still my son,
- 39:38but who cares, Like, get over it.
- 39:40Speaker 1: It's just it's insane to me that they sit there
- 39:42and they're like, yes, like a kid's just like I'm
- 39:45holding a knife basically essentially like a eleven or twelve
- 39:48year old, because I think lou is younger than Jeff.
- 39:52So he's sit at the top of the steps with
- 39:53a knife and then all the cops immediately pull a
- 39:56gun out on him, like I mean, like three cops
- 39:58pull a gun. They're like, drop the knock, and he's like,
- 40:01I did it, I did the crime, and they're like,
- 40:05all right, we believe you. And when I was reading it,
- 40:08I was like, why wouldn't Randon just be like, no,
- 40:09that's not it's the other guy. If that's not the
- 40:12kid who beat the shit out of me, stabbed a
- 40:15younger brother too, yeah, exactly.
- 40:17Speaker 2: So now it's like a nine year old like decked
- 40:20out these three old.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Exactly and they're like, all right, fine, a year for you,
- 40:26nine year old boy in juvie.
- 40:30Speaker 2: That's that's how the works. I'm sorry, I've gotta do it.
- 40:34Speaker 1: I love how uh I love how his mom, Margaret
- 40:38is just so like she just it's so funny, how
- 40:42dumb they write her like she's just like Jeff, please
- 40:44you don't have to lie. We know it's Lou.
- 40:47Speaker 3: You can stop.
- 40:48Speaker 1: What kind of sentence? What kind of human sentence is that?
- 40:52It feels like Margaret Bot came up. It's like she's
- 40:54like just some kind of robot and she's like, Jeff, please,
- 40:56you don't have to lie. We know it's Lou. You
- 40:59can what would you like for dinning on Saden? But Jeff,
- 41:04he's riddled with guilt. Now you know, his brother's taking
- 41:07the blame for feeling alone in this new town. And
- 41:09a couple of days passed and it's Saturday. Only a
- 41:11couple of days, right, since like put that in context,
- 41:16a couple of days have passed since the mom and
- 41:19the family have found out that their son stabbed and
- 41:21be demanded death. Jeff has been this depressed sack of shit,
- 41:24staying up in his room, feeling all depressed. Whatever guns
- 41:27were pulled on your child who was holding a knife
- 41:29like a complete fucking psychopath. And all of a sudden,
- 41:32Jeff was woke it up by his mother to let
- 41:34him know that, hey, we have to get remember Billy.
- 41:36We need to get ready for Billy's birthday party. Barbara,
- 41:39you know, remember her son. We're going to the birthday party.
- 41:42And that's when I just wanted to read this excerpt
- 41:46because this is really funny. This is a long blurb
- 41:48from it, but it's a very funny back and forth,
- 41:50so I wanted to read this. It's a Jeff, it's
- 41:53the day, she said as she opened up the curtains
- 41:55let the light flood in the room. What's today, asked
- 42:00Jeff as he stirs awake. Why it's Billy's party? He
- 42:04was now fully awake. Mom, you're joking, right, you don't
- 42:08expect me? They good sub kid's putty. After there was
- 42:11a long pause. There's a lot of also long pauses.
- 42:14It's very anime. I've noticed a lot of It's like,
- 42:17you don't expect me to go to some kids putty after, Jeff,
- 42:24we both know what happened. I think this party would
- 42:27be a good thing that brightens up the past days. Now,
- 42:30get dressed. Jeff's mother walked out of the room and
- 42:33downstairs to get ready herself. He fought himself to get up.
- 42:36He picked out a random shirt and a pair of
- 42:38jeans and walked downstairs. He saw his mother and father
- 42:41all dressed up. His mother in a dress and his
- 42:43father in a suit. He thought, why would they be
- 42:46wearing why would they ever wear such fancy clothes to
- 42:49a kid's party? Son, son, is that all you're going
- 42:53to wear? Said Jeff's mom. Better than wearing too much,
- 42:56he said. His mother pushed down the feeling to yell
- 42:58at him and hit it with a smile.
- 43:00Speaker 6: Now, now, Jeff, we may be overdressed, but this is
- 43:06how you go if.
- 43:08Speaker 1: You want to make an impression, said his father. Jeff
- 43:11grunted and went back up to his room. I don't
- 43:13have any fancy clothes, he yelled downstairs. Just pick out something,
- 43:17called his mother. He looked around his closet for what
- 43:20he would call fancy. He would find a pair of
- 43:22black dress pants he had for special occasions and undershirt.
- 43:26He couldn't find a shirt to go with it, though.
- 43:28He looked around and found some striped and patterned shirts,
- 43:31none of which go with dress pants. Finally, he found
- 43:34a white hoodie and put it on. You're wearing that,
- 43:37they both said. His mother looked at her watch. Oh,
- 43:41no time to change, let's go, she just she said
- 43:45as she heard it. Jeff and his father out the
- 43:48door that crossed the street over to Barbara and Billy's house.
- 43:50Now I quoted all this because one, what a completely
- 43:53inhuman interaction to have. And then two, here's a couple
- 43:56of things. Why he said something up here where I
- 44:00was like, okay, we get this dialogue of him saying
- 44:04he picked out a random shirt and a pair of
- 44:05jeans and walk down the stairs he saw his mother
- 44:07and father all dressed up, his mother and a dress
- 44:09and his father in a suit. He thought, why would
- 44:11they why they would ever wear such a fancy clothes
- 44:15to a kid's party? So I thought, okay, is this
- 44:17going to set up some kind of weird like orientation
- 44:22thing something of like I don't I don't know something
- 44:26devious or whatever.
- 44:30Speaker 2: To wear.
- 44:30Speaker 1: And then to also be mad that he's not wearing
- 44:32because he essentially puts on a shirt and jeans. That's
- 44:36not the worst out for a child's birthday party.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that's like what are what are they doing at
- 44:41the child's party? Like talking about the stock market? They're
- 44:44going to play around in the yard.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Like yeah, and you would think that it's setting up
- 44:48something to be more than what it is. And then
- 44:51there's also like this rushed aspect of her being like
- 44:54there's no time, we have to go. They live next door.
- 44:57Speaker 2: And it's a child's birthday party.
- 44:58Speaker 1: It's not a child's birthday party next door.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Also so odd? But also who on earth? Like, okay,
- 45:06so it's a child's birthday party, right, and the parents
- 45:09are going for some reason. But this is the same
- 45:12woman who, when she found out her even younger son
- 45:15was responsible for his stabbing, was just like, Jeff, clearly
- 45:19your younger brother, like the cop said, he's going to
- 45:22jail for a year. So let's stop thinking about that
- 45:24and let's wear our ball gown to this other child's
- 45:28birthday party.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Yeah, let's play dress up as if we're going to
- 45:31prom and go to this young person's birthday party. Which also,
- 45:35that's a funny thing of like, we know that you're
- 45:37upset that your brother is a psychopath. Jeff, all right,
- 45:40we get it, but we have to go make an
- 45:41impression with the neighbors. Why why would you need that?
- 45:44And then also how how would the neighbors not be like, hey,
- 45:49by the way, you guys aren't invited anymore since your
- 45:51kids are fucking psychopaths. But no, they're just like, hey,
- 45:55please come over be alone with my children. I really
- 45:58want you to be alone with my children. Jeff, that
- 46:00your manic, and this happened three days ago, but please
- 46:04be alone with her and one kid.
- 46:05Speaker 2: The weird thing that they're in the neighborhood for one
- 46:07day and a kid gets stabbed.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Like literally not.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Weird.
- 46:13Speaker 1: One day and Jeff stabs the kids and breaks their
- 46:16wrists with ease, mind you, with ease to break someone's bones,
- 46:21I feel like would be relative. I mean, I have
- 46:23never done it, but I have to imagine you'd have
- 46:26to have some kind of godlike force to just do,
- 46:29especially as a child.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Well, it would have to be feeling.
- 46:34Speaker 1: The feeling was felt and reciprocated that he felt the feeling.
- 46:37That is true, which they go. They go over to
- 46:41the party and Jeff notices that at the party all
- 46:45of the adults are inside and the kids are outside.
- 46:47Barbara tells Jeff to go outside and play with the kids,
- 46:50which at first he doesn't like. He doesn't like being
- 46:54out there hanging out with him, but he almost immediately
- 46:56says he has a fun time when he quote pretends
- 46:58to shoot kids at the party because it was the
- 47:01first time he hadn't thought about his brother in Julie,
- 47:04which I thought was very funny killing children, Bang, bang,
- 47:11you're dead? Bang once again? Does that not read like
- 47:14a school shooter? I mean, honestly, does that? How were
- 47:17we not prepping up that this is a school shooter thing.
- 47:19I was like, Okay, I feel like I'm kind of
- 47:21reading this from a mile away. Sure, but no, you know,
- 47:26but and then you you think that it's going somewhere,
- 47:28and then once again you have the weird the weird
- 47:32crossover with like the importance of being in a dress
- 47:35up situation, which that goes nowhere. You go outside, and
- 47:38then he's like, oh, I feel good about, you know,
- 47:41fake killing these kids. Yeah, I'm having fun. I'm not
- 47:44thinking about my brother and Jaleen anymore. Okay, so this
- 47:47is probably going to be him, I guess, not able
- 47:50to control that that crazy feeling, right maybe yeah, yeah,
- 47:56I God, I love killing. That's the feeling. I love killing.
- 47:59And you're like, okay, that makes sense, but no, it
- 48:01doesn't go anywhere from there. Instead, suddenly at this party,
- 48:05right this backyard party, Randy, the kid who pulled the
- 48:10knife and had the skateboard all him, Randy and his
- 48:13fat friend and the skinny guy hop over the fence
- 48:16at the party, and all hell is about to break loose,
- 48:18which I was gonna say, if you want to take
- 48:20this party, I also.
- 48:22Speaker 2: Want to for listeners. They're probably listening to this and
- 48:26thinking like, what the where did that come from? Like
- 48:28he's talking about shooting kids, I'm telling you, And then
- 48:31it just says they show up. This is what this
- 48:34is verbati.
- 48:35Speaker 1: This is the legitimate flow.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to read the sentence right there. It says,
- 48:39so he played with the kids for a while until
- 48:41he heard a noise, a weird rolling noise. Then it
- 48:44hit him. Randy, Troy and Keith all jumped over the
- 48:47fence on their skateboards like it goes just like him,
- 48:53fantasize and shooting children to the gangs here. We gotta
- 48:58get out of here.
- 49:00Speaker 1: You wop nineteen fifties clan is here to wreak havoc
- 49:03on Billy's birthday party. Billy should be pissed, but we
- 49:06never hear from Billy. Wish I could hear his perspective,
- 49:08but so what So Yeah, suddenly Randy and his goons
- 49:12top are the fence and all hell is about.
- 49:13Speaker 2: The break rust And then it says, hello, Jeff, is it?
- 49:18He said? We have some unfinished business.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Jeff, so anime? So anime?
- 49:26Speaker 2: Jeff saw his bruised nose. I think we're even. I
- 49:29beat the crap out of you, and you've got my
- 49:32brother sent to JDC. This does feel like an anime, Like.
- 49:36Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I think we're even. I beat the
- 49:39crap out of you, and you've got my brother sent
- 49:41to JDC.
- 49:45Speaker 2: They're making those weird like moanin noise to themselves as
- 49:48the others talking god.
- 49:52Speaker 1: Like, hello, Jeff, is it? He said? And he put
- 49:57he pushes up his glasses or whatever with his pinky.
- 50:00He's like, we have.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Some unfished Randy got. Randy got an angry look in
- 50:08his eyes. Oh no, I don't go for even. I
- 50:11go for winning. Oh gosh, God, good lord, I go
- 50:16all right, hold on, I have to lean into it.
- 50:20Oh no, I don't go for even. I go for winning.
- 50:23You may have kicked our asses that one day, but
- 50:26not today. I just got what you were doing. They're
- 50:34like ugh as he has he hold on, hold on,
- 50:40I will you be Jeff for the rest of the scene,
- 50:42and I'll be ready. Okay, all right, I'll do the narration.
- 50:45But if it gets to a Jeff line, you take it. Okay, Yeah, Well,
- 50:49as he said that, Randy rushed at Jeff. They both
- 50:52fell to the ground. Randy punched Jeff in the nose,
- 50:55and Jeff grabbed him by the ears and head butted him.
- 50:58Jeff pushed Randy off of him and both rose to
- 51:00their feet. Kids were screaming and parents were running out
- 51:03of the house. Troy and Keith both pulled guns out
- 51:06of their pocket. Depot pulled guns out their pockets on
- 51:12the parents. Okay, no one interrupts, or guts will fly,
- 51:17they said.
- 51:20Speaker 1: Randy.
- 51:21Speaker 2: Randy pulled a knife on Jeff and stabbed it into
- 51:24his shoulder. Jeff screamed and fell to his knees. Randy
- 51:28started kicking him in the face. After three kicks, Jeff
- 51:32grabs his foot and twists it, causing Randy to fall
- 51:35to the ground. Jeff stood up and walked towards the
- 51:38back door. Troy grabbed him. Needs some help. He picks
- 51:43Jeff up by the bat It's literally the fight. Thing
- 51:46like going somewhere, I'm telling you. He picks Jeff up
- 51:53by the back of the collar and throws him through
- 51:56the patio door. As Jeff tries to stay, He's kicked down.
- 52:01He's kicked down to the ground. Randy repeatedly starts kicking
- 52:05Jeff until he starts coughing up blood. Come on, Jeff,
- 52:10fight me. He picks Jeff up and throws him into
- 52:13the kitchen. Randy sees a bottle of vodka on the
- 52:16counter and smashes the glass over Jeff's head.
- 52:20Speaker 1: To a twelve year old, this is a twove year old,
- 52:22by the way, this is a This is a this
- 52:25is a gang of a posse of twelve.
- 52:27Speaker 2: Old God guns that the parents right now.
- 52:32Speaker 1: They have twelve year olds, have guns at gunpoint, keeping
- 52:37everybody hostage. Basically, all this fight has happened.
- 52:39Speaker 2: In a quote nice neighborhood.
- 52:42Speaker 1: And a quote unquote fancy and nice neighborhood.
- 52:48Speaker 2: Okay, so he smashes vodka over jeff'said and goes fight.
- 52:53He throws Jeff back into the living room. Come on, Jeff,
- 52:56look at me. Jeff glances up, his face riddled with blood.
- 53:02I was the one who got your bread. I was
- 53:08the one who got your brother sent to JDC. And
- 53:11now you're just gonna sit there and let him rotten
- 53:14there for a whole year. You should be ashamed. Jeff
- 53:18starts to get up. Oh finally you stand, and oh
- 53:24finally you stand and fight. Jeff is now to his feet,
- 53:28blood and vodka on his face. Once again, he gets
- 53:32that strange feeling, He gets that shit. Oh my gosh,
- 53:43the feeling keeps showing up. Once again, he gets that
- 53:46strange feeling, the one in which he hasn't felt for
- 53:49a while. I thought he was feeling it that day.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Okay, he felt it continuously for the whole story.
- 53:55Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, Yes, finally he's up, says in my head. Andy.
- 54:00Sounds like vegeta like.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Every Finally he's up.
- 54:04Speaker 2: Yeah, finally he's up, says Randy as he runs at Jeff.
- 54:10That's when it happens. Something inside Jeff snaps. His psyche
- 54:15is destroyed, All rational thinking is gone. All he can
- 54:19do is kill. He grabs Randy and pile drives him
- 54:26to the ground. He gets on top of him and
- 54:28punches him straight in the heart. What whoa like? The
- 54:36punch causes Randy's heart to stop. No, No, this thirteen
- 54:44year old just punched twelve year old's heart.
- 54:50Speaker 1: In the chest.
- 54:50Speaker 2: He one.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Gives him the fucking five figure death from kill Bill.
- 54:58Speaker 2: Strongest thirteen year old ever. He literally punches I was
- 55:02joking about this being like a dragonball fight. This is
- 55:05actually a talent. Yeah, yes, Like he's on the ground
- 55:09an it's the scene with the cameras and then like
- 55:12come on and you can hear like the guitar and
- 55:14he's like powering up. Yeah, yeah, exactly. The punch causes
- 55:23Randy's heart to stop. As Randy gas for breath, Jeff
- 55:27hammers down on him. I thought he was already dead.
- 55:30Punch after punch, blood gushes from Randy's body until he
- 55:35takes one final breath and dies. He child to death.
- 55:40Speaker 1: He's also he punched a thirteen year old child punches
- 55:45a twelve year old child to death. He punches him
- 55:47so hard in the chest that Randy is unable to
- 55:50breathe anymore. Mind you, well this is happening. His friends
- 55:54are like pointing guns at him, and like everybody at
- 55:57the party, even the adults are watching this. Had nobody
- 56:00is breaking up these infants.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, you know what I mean, not one person
- 56:07person intervens involved, but there's like forty year old men
- 56:10watching this. Like if only I could.
- 56:12Speaker 1: Do something yeah, like their hands, especially because now I'm
- 56:15I'm picturing it like an old timey bank robbing thing.
- 56:18Their hands are up and they're like, oh, don't don't
- 56:21shoot us, mister twelve year old. The fat kids are
- 56:24eating all billies, per I'm fat. I'm the fat one.
- 56:31Speaker 2: The fat and skinny kid are wearing like pit striped suits.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Yeah, with the with like the little like eye cuffling
- 56:37like burglar, old timey burglar deal.
- 56:39Speaker 6: Yeah, I saw your sweets and now your candy, which
- 56:44everyone looks at Jeff, the parents and the children and
- 56:47even Randy's goon friends Troy and Keith.
- 56:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I like to say, good friends. Which Troy and
- 56:53Keith proceed to shoot at Jeff in the small house
- 56:56and they miss every shot all right, and Jeff runs
- 56:59away until you gets into the bathroom, in which he
- 57:01rips a towel rack off the wall, and Troy and
- 57:04Keith make their way up there. They fire some more shots,
- 57:07miss again, and basically Jeff just beats Troy's face in
- 57:11until Troy is like, I don't know if he's lifeless,
- 57:14but he falls to the ground hard, and immediately Keith
- 57:17grabs and starts choking Jeff and he pushes pushes Jeff
- 57:23into a wall and which a like a container of bleach,
- 57:27plops over and it starts covering Jeff's face and body.
- 57:31Jeff takes the towel rack beats the living hell out
- 57:34of Keith until Keith is basically dying on the floor.
- 57:37And Keith, as he's laying there dying, cracks a big smile,
- 57:42and Jeff says, what's so funny? Keith pulled out a
- 57:46lighter and switched it on. That's fuddy, he said, is that.
- 57:50Speaker 3: You're covered in bleaching alcohol.
- 57:52Speaker 1: Jeff's eyes widen, and Keith threw the lighter at him.
- 57:56As soon as the flame made contact with him, the
- 57:58flames ignited the alcohol in the vodka. While the alcohol
- 58:01burned him, the bleach bleached his skin. The bleach bleached
- 58:04his skin. Just let out a terrible screech as he
- 58:07caught on fire. He tried to roll out. He tried
- 58:10to roll out of the fire, but it was no use.
- 58:12The alcohol had made him. The alcohol had made him
- 58:16a walking inferno. He ran down the hall and fell
- 58:19down the stairs. Everybody started screaming as they saw Jeff,
- 58:22now a man on fire, dropped to the ground, nearly dead.
- 58:25The last thing Jeff saw was his mother and the
- 58:27other parents trying to extinguish the flame. That's when he
- 58:31passed out. So basically, Jeff gets fucking lit on fire
- 58:35like a goddamn you know, fireball, rolls downstairs. No one
- 58:41like tries to pat him out. They are watching this
- 58:43child like rolling on the ground. They're just like, oh
- 58:48my god, Jeff, you're on fire.
- 58:52Speaker 2: While they're like evening ballroom gowns and.
- 58:56Speaker 1: Yeah they're great Gatsby party outfits for some and they're
- 59:00all probably fucking smashed first off. That's like one thing
- 59:02I was like, Okay, the vodka thing is that everybody
- 59:06in the party is like no way, someone help, and
- 59:11all just.
- 59:11Speaker 2: They're all just hammered. Yeah. Yeah.
- 59:13Speaker 1: Oh you'd have to imagine which Jeff wakes up in
- 59:16the hospital. His face is wrapped in gauze and the
- 59:19cast and he has also has a cast on his
- 59:21shoulder and stitchings all over his body presumably from getting stabbed,
- 59:25you know, throwing.
- 59:26Speaker 2: Down like the To keep to keep track of everything,
- 59:31the story just went up, three kids show up at
- 59:34an unrelated kid's birthday party. Billy, the poor victim whose birthday,
- 59:38I'm sure was ruined.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think that that was a.
- 59:42Speaker 2: Heaven all Yeah. And then all the parents of the
- 59:44neighborhood and they're like, like you said, they're great, gats
- 59:47be closed. Just watch as a fight breaks out and
- 59:51Jeff kills three children and then he gets set on fire,
- 59:55and it says before he passes out, they're just looking
- 59:58at him.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: We are presumably thinking that, yes, the adults did nothing
- 1:00:03to stop the death of four children at this party,
- 1:00:06which the death of the four children also was no accident.
- 1:00:10It was a full on fight that broke out in
- 1:00:12the house. Yes, two of the kids did have guns
- 1:00:15pointing out their parents. But how could they have let
- 1:00:18this happen.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: It's it's a shot. They are a fat child and
- 1:00:22a skinny child. You can tackle them, I don't care.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Yeah. One of them is wheezing. Yeah, one of them
- 1:00:28is wheezing, like can't really control his breath because he's
- 1:00:31so fat. The other one can barely open his eyes.
- 1:00:33He's a genetic abomination. It's like a pug and a
- 1:00:36bulldog having a gun, is what it feels like.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: All right, Hey, let's keive mind. A nice neighborhood it.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Is a quote unquote fancy neighborhood. Let's also not forget
- 1:00:51that it's a quote unquote fancy neighborhood, all right, which
- 1:00:54I always every time I see read that, I'm like,
- 1:00:56it reminds me. It makes me think of like like
- 1:00:59the desperate housewife like neighborhood or something like that, super
- 1:01:02upper middle class like big suburbia kind of thing.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: But from from the events that happened, it's a war zone.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: It's from the events that happened. It is, yeah, a
- 1:01:13literal war zone. So I don't know, I can't tell
- 1:01:16if it Also, what is his definition of fancy? You know,
- 1:01:19is it actually is it just like barely better? Is
- 1:01:24he just now not living in our part? We don't know.
- 1:01:26Not enough is given, but we do know that it
- 1:01:29is quote unquote fancy fancy, all right? If that is
- 1:01:32one thing to take away from this thing is quote
- 1:01:34unquote fancy, which I'm going to say from now on,
- 1:01:36our our podcast is quote unquote fancy. This is a quote.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: Unquote podcast because I mean, just like the story, who
- 1:01:43who's going to fight us on it? Like we said, so,
- 1:01:46so this is a fancy podcast, is a respectable podcast.
- 1:01:49This is a respectful podcast.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: And I have a feeling, a feeling that I felt, well,
- 1:01:56I had a feeling that I felt earlier today that
- 1:01:58this was a quote unquote fancy pod cast, and I
- 1:02:00did feel that when I felt it earlier today, and
- 1:02:02then I had that feeling, so I knew that that
- 1:02:04was what I was going to do. And I did
- 1:02:06have a feeling too, that a gang of twelve year
- 1:02:08olds were going to come and beat the shit out
- 1:02:10of me and shoot me in.
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: The back of the head with their guns.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: You felt, that's the feeling I had. You felt a
- 1:02:14feeling of a fancy feeling podcast feeling earlier today.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: That I did have a fancy feeling. I had a
- 1:02:20fancy feeling that this would be a fancy podcast that
- 1:02:22I felt earlier today when I had that feeling. So
- 1:02:25that's where that's where we ended up.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: That's a fancy feeling.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: It is a pretty fancy feeling. And I'm going to
- 1:02:31digress by taking that feeling and putting in this feeling
- 1:02:33that I need to read more of this story, yeah,
- 1:02:35which is Jeff is in his heart.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Yeah, just go ahead and just look at this all right. So, yes,
- 1:02:41Jeff's in the hospital right and then he starts to
- 1:02:44come to in the hospital. But did you know he's
- 1:02:46now murdered three people?
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: Yes, that is true. He's basically killed one child twice,
- 1:02:52which is pretty funny.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: After hours of setting alone, he finally heard his mother. Honey,
- 1:02:59are you okay? She asked. Jeff couldn't answer, though his
- 1:03:03face was covered.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Can I pause for a second.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: I just feelized word in on that?
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Can I Can I pause for a second? Honey, are
- 1:03:11you okay? She asked. This woman saw her son fight
- 1:03:15off three other people that were trying to kill him,
- 1:03:18and he had bleach all over him and was in
- 1:03:20a ball of literal fire full down steps and basically
- 1:03:24died at her feet. And the first thing she says
- 1:03:26to her now consciously, I don't know how a miracle
- 1:03:29child is. Honey, are you okay?
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Mom? No?
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: I could be a lot better, all right, I just
- 1:03:36want to say that she.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: Sold her son out to the cops. She lets she
- 1:03:42makes JELU immediately stupid outfit doesn't help him, and it
- 1:03:46is like, are you okay?
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: This mom is checking out immediately. This is a mom
- 1:03:51who doesn't want to go a mom at all. That Yeah, No,
- 1:03:54sold her son out and if anything, she was she's
- 1:03:56upset that that Jeff is still alive. I bet is
- 1:03:59what I.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: It's like, I was so close to being free. I'm
- 1:04:06oh absolutely, Oh my gosh, bro, that was so funny. Honey,
- 1:04:10are you okay? You're like, can I pause? So she asked, honey,
- 1:04:16are you okay? He was unable to speak. Oh honey,
- 1:04:20I have great news. I don't want to hear anything
- 1:04:23she has to say. Oh honey, I have great news.
- 1:04:26After all the witnesses told the police that Randy confessed
- 1:04:29to trying to attack you, they decided to let lou go.
- 1:04:34That's not none of this is how police work. None
- 1:04:37of this is how any of it elks like, Oh,
- 1:04:39that turns out that cop throwing the child into jail
- 1:04:43for a year incredibly unconstitutional, Like they ate him up.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Yeah that I also would have no sympathy for my mom.
- 1:04:52Where it's like, oh honey, I have great news. After
- 1:04:54all the witnesses told the police that Randy confessed of
- 1:04:57trying to attack you, they decided to let lou go.
- 1:04:59It's dude, didn't we already tell you that this guy
- 1:05:03came out, came at us with knives and it took
- 1:05:06you guys to be held at gunpoint to even give
- 1:05:08a shit about this, Like, Okay, well now we believe you.
- 1:05:11It's like, yeah, I told you that yesterday when you
- 1:05:13probably found his body, you probably found a bunch of
- 1:05:15knives on him.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: Now that you're kids in the hospital bed, it's reasonable. Okay,
- 1:05:20it wasn't before.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: But it's reasonable now. And also I love that says uh.
- 1:05:24It says uh. She says uh. He'll be out by
- 1:05:28tomorrow and you two will be able to get to
- 1:05:30be together again. I like how they're just like, well,
- 1:05:32we've got a keepspee for another day. We know you're
- 1:05:36free of the crimes, but we're gonna have to hold
- 1:05:38you for another day. We'll let you go tomorrow. A right,
- 1:05:41So get back in your cell. We're gonna lock that up. Okay,
- 1:05:44you're a freeman. Way to go, Lou, you're a freeman.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: Like looking at a nine year old like, looks like
- 1:05:54your time is up. I hope this institution like he's.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I hope this is riabilitated you to go back
- 1:06:01into normal society. Lou. He has his billy club and
- 1:06:04he's like hitting it on the on the bars and
- 1:06:07ever sleep tight, Lou will catch you in themorrow.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: You remember, you know what a nine year old looks like? Like?
- 1:06:16How young we're told? I know the story doesn't say nine,
- 1:06:19but I mean it looks like a baby. Yeah, it's
- 1:06:21like a baby, right.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Like a like a like a long baby just throw there.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that monster he's with.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: His bunkmate is a nineteen is like an eighteen year old?
- 1:06:32Or like it's a sixteen year old kid that fucking
- 1:06:36like skinned his parents alive? All right, you too, be
- 1:06:38sure to not be too crazy. Sleep tight, Lou, you're
- 1:06:43a free man tomorrow. Yeah, how don't even his face tonight?
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Greg, You know what, Shame on you for stabbing that
- 1:06:52self respecting twelve year old with open access to firearms
- 1:06:56and a racketeering thing going around the block in our
- 1:07:00fancy neighborhood. Shame on you for hearing that guy.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: I just want you to know that this is a
- 1:07:04quote unquote fancy neighborhood and you went ahead ruined it.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: Lou.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: I hope you burn in hell.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Look.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: I love the idea of a cop telling a nine
- 1:07:13year old to burning hell.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Look here, boy, in this fancy neighborhood, we got feelings
- 1:07:21all right, and these feelings are very important feelings, and
- 1:07:25you gets it. Log to mess up those feelings when
- 1:07:27we don't take too kindly to that.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: We don't take too kindly of that. Your brother gets it,
- 1:07:31but you're having a hard time wrapping around your stupid
- 1:07:34little head lou.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Idiot. They don't get it.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: They don't get it. Lock them up, you know what
- 1:07:42I'm not. You're not going free tomorrow. Never mind.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: It's just isn't full of children.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Literal children. It's like it's like Willy Wonkas. This is
- 1:07:52this is the security system of Willy Wantas. Just does
- 1:07:56a kid you wanted the chocolate, but you broke all
- 1:07:58the rules.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: It's a it's like Randy has the police paid off.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: He's like yeah, He's like he gives us a good shit.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: He's got like all good.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: Wonder how much Randy was making a year his scream.
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: Probably hold yeah, thirty seven dollars. If he was robbing
- 1:08:15like ten year olds.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: For money, yeah, I was gonna say, I mean, how
- 1:08:18much really are people taking to lunch?
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: But in this story, like the way that like this
- 1:08:23is written, those ten year olds probably have a four
- 1:08:24oh one K.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: So I don't know that is true. It is a
- 1:08:27fancy neighborhood.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: That's true. That's true.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: It is a very fancy neighborhood.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: All right, so I'll continue. So they decided to let
- 1:08:34lu go. This made Jeff almost bolt up, stopping halfway
- 1:08:38remembering the tube coming out of his arm. He'll be
- 1:08:41out by tomorrow, and then you two will be able
- 1:08:43to be together again. Jeff's mother hugs Jeff and says
- 1:08:47her goodbyes. Wait wait, wait, wait wait, his mom his
- 1:08:51mom left him? What? Yes, yeah, just said the story.
- 1:08:55I have the story pulled up to compare against notes
- 1:08:57to make sure we're right. Yeah. She just leaves.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: She's like, you guys be together tomorrow. I'll talk to
- 1:09:03you later. Burn Victim. Yea, my son. I know you're
- 1:09:05probably in tons of pain, but mommy has to go home.
- 1:09:08She needs to drink, it says.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: The next couple of weeks where those where Jeff was
- 1:09:14visited by his family. They visited. They didn't stay at
- 1:09:18the hospital.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: They did not stay at the hospital, which also just
- 1:09:21goes to show how unsympathetic his mom is. His mom
- 1:09:24doesn't even stay, she doesn't even care.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: She's just like he's.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: In the hospital. He's fine, then you go home. I
- 1:09:30want to see my bed just a big boy. Yeah,
- 1:09:35isn't that crazy?
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: This story is what? This story feels like it was
- 1:09:39written by someone who really hated their mom, Like I
- 1:09:42was a fan of my chemical romance growing up, But
- 1:09:44it feels like it was written by like the quote
- 1:09:47unquote fan of my chemical romance, Like mom stupid, I
- 1:09:51hate her. Us twelve year olds we kill each other
- 1:09:53all the time, you know that.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I was gonna say it feels very comparable to
- 1:09:58like an ari Astra thing. Ari Astor has to serious
- 1:10:00mommy issues too, and it feels like this this is
- 1:10:03definitely somebody who was having having a rough time with
- 1:10:06their mom, a little rough pumpkin passage.
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: You know what, I promise you. You're the first person in
- 1:10:10the world to compare Jeff the Killer to ari ast I'm.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: Sure both both that influential, equally important works, equally important works. Yeah,
- 1:10:20hereditary people. When people speak hereditary, they're really speaking all right.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: So, uh I see here, hunter that you left a
- 1:10:32note saying lol about let's the best.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Yeah, well it's finally week's past. Jeff's bandages are able
- 1:10:39to be taken off, and the doctor taking the bandage
- 1:10:42off literally says, quote unquote, let's hope for the best.
- 1:10:45That's what the doctor says when taking off the bandages.
- 1:10:49I thought that was hilarious. It's like a burn victim.
- 1:10:52Imagine how like imagine how discussing that would feel. You're
- 1:10:56a burn victim from some kind of thing. And as
- 1:10:58the doctor's taken off, he's like, let's hope for the best.
- 1:11:02Monster under here, you know what I mean? Like, why
- 1:11:04would you why would you say that? I just thought
- 1:11:06that was really funny.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: All right, So here's what we're gonna do here this section.
- 1:11:09I'm gonna narrate it, but I need you to do
- 1:11:10the Jeff lines. Okay, okay, all right, here we go. Ready,
- 1:11:15So finally the bandagees are removed and Jeff's transformation begins.
- 1:11:19Jeff's mother screams at the side of his face. Lou
- 1:11:22and Jeff's dad stare awestruck at his face.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: What happened to my face?
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: Jeff said. He rushed out of bed and ran to
- 1:11:32the bathroom. He looked in the mirror and saw the
- 1:11:34cause of the distress.
- 1:11:36Speaker 7: His face. It it's horrible. His lips were burnt to
- 1:11:42a deep shade of red. His face was turned into
- 1:11:45a pure white color, and his hair singed from brown
- 1:11:49to black. He slowly put his hand to his face.
- 1:11:54It had a sort of leathery feel to it.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: Now. He looked back at his family, then back at
- 1:11:59the mirror. Jeff said, Lou, it's.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: Not that bad, not that bad. It's perfect.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: His family were equally surprised. Jeff started laughing uncontrollably. His
- 1:12:14parents noticed that his left eye and hand were twitching.
- 1:12:19Speaker 8: Uh, Jeff, Uh, uh, Jeff, are you okay?
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Okay, I've never felt more happy. Look at this face.
- 1:12:42It goes perfectly with me.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: He couldn't stop laughing. He stroked his face, feeling and
- 1:12:47looking at it in the mirror. What caused this, Well,
- 1:12:51you may recall that when the story this is how
- 1:12:59it's written. Well, you may recall that when Jeff was
- 1:13:02fighting Randy, something in his mind, his sanity snapped. Now
- 1:13:07he was left as a crazy killing machine. That is
- 1:13:12his parents didn't know. Doctor said, Jeff's mom, is my
- 1:13:17son all right? You know in the head? Oh yeah, I.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Love I love that. The doctor says this. He's like,
- 1:13:26oh yeah, this behavior is typical for patients to have
- 1:13:29taken very large amounts of painkils. If his behavior doesn't
- 1:13:34change in a few weeks, bring him back here and
- 1:13:37we'll give him a psychological test.
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: What what Every part of that paragraph is absolutely insane.
- 1:13:46The idea of Jeff like getting burns on his face,
- 1:13:48like laughing love in his face. That's so good. The
- 1:13:52uh Jef j allright, look like the whole guy. You're
- 1:14:00gonna want to see this.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: Guys, he's right behind me. But I do like after
- 1:14:09the psychological test thing, the mother says, oh, thank you
- 1:14:12doctor jes. Mother went over to Jeff. Jeff, sweety, it's
- 1:14:15time to go. Jeff looks away from the mirror, his
- 1:14:18face still formed in a crazy smile, and he says this, kay, mommy.
- 1:14:23His mother took him by the shoulder and took him
- 1:14:26to get his clothes. Which now it's like I don't
- 1:14:31understand the psychological thing because he's say k mommy, and
- 1:14:35he says mommy a lot. Now it's like it's like
- 1:14:38a weird like I understand he's going insane, but I
- 1:14:41wonder is it also part of it supposed to be
- 1:14:42like did he de age a bit more or.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: Something, or it's his feeling.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: That is a feeling. Okay, that's right, I forgot. That
- 1:14:50is the feeling he's feeling.
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: Also, what you just said is his mental condition causing
- 1:14:54him to relapse in like age regression. You are three
- 1:14:58layers too deep for this story.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: That is absolutely true.
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: He's the reason he says mommy is because mommy sounds prepier.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: That's literally a that's true. I'm grasping desperately for a strong.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: You're like perhaps age just like falling back to familiarity,
- 1:15:16like bro.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Perhaps it is a little more in depth than I
- 1:15:20appeared to him. You know, maybe I think it's playing
- 1:15:22us for a room. Yeah, no, you're You're definitely right.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: It's just because it's weird.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: That is the creepy feeling he's feeling. This is what
- 1:15:33came in, said the lady at the desk. Jeff's moms
- 1:15:36looked down to see the black dress pants and the
- 1:15:38white hoodie her son wore. Now they were clean of
- 1:15:40blood and out stitched together. Jeff's mother led him to
- 1:15:43his room and made him put his clothes on. Then
- 1:15:46they left, not.
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: Knowing that this was their final day of life.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: So this is which also, by the point, we're like
- 1:15:55almost I would say, we're pretty pretty close to the
- 1:15:57end of the story here. What's weird is that the
- 1:16:01horror aspect this to let you know, typically and this
- 1:16:05is the setup of a story, and we're already to
- 1:16:07the finale because now we're setting up that this everything
- 1:16:11that's happened so far is the set up to our monster,
- 1:16:14which is in turn going to set us off in
- 1:16:17this tale of what this character is. But instead they
- 1:16:20set up is the legitimate story until we get the
- 1:16:23ending here, which it wraps up in a nice way
- 1:16:26if you want to, if you want to take the reins.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: Again absolute, I would be honored to. So Jeff goes
- 1:16:33home that night and then it's gosh late. You know,
- 1:16:38I'm like genuinely embarrassed right now for being so scared
- 1:16:41of this story as a child. But with that in mind,
- 1:16:45later that night, Jeff's mother awakes to the sound of
- 1:16:47someone crying in the bathroom. When going to see what
- 1:16:51it was, she finds Jeff in the bathroom having carved
- 1:16:54a smile in his cheeks. It's literally the heap, I'm
- 1:16:57telling you, it's literally the heath thing.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: I'm tony, I'm telling you. If this came ouround the
- 1:17:01same time twenty eight it's impossible that it has to be.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: All right? What would you like to continue being Jeff?
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: By the way, Yeah, okay, okay, I'll keeping Jeff.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: Because you're too good at it to not all right? Jeff,
- 1:17:19what are you doing? Asked his mother. Jeff looked over
- 1:17:23to his mother.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: I couldn't keep smiling, mommy. It hurt after a while.
- 1:17:30Now I can smile forever.
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: Jeff's mother noticed his eyes ringed in black. Jeff, your
- 1:17:39eyes his eyes were seemingly never closing.
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: I couldn't see my face. I got tired and my
- 1:17:47eyes started to close. I burned out the eyelids so
- 1:17:50I could so I could forever see myself, my new face.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: Jeff's mother slowly started to back away, seeing that her
- 1:17:59son was going insane.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: What's wrong, mommy? Aren't they beautiful?
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: Boo?
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Is why I say to that? I throw my boo
- 1:18:11at you. I hate that? What's wrong?
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: Mommy?
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: Are beautiful?
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Literally? That reads like why so serious? Does it?
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: Not?
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: That it has the same kind.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: It's just it's like it's like you could already see
- 1:18:26in like the writer's mind, like this character being like
- 1:18:30drawn on Devian art. With like are and I beautiful
- 1:18:33ridden behind him? You know, like absolutely going.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Through that absolutely yes, yep. Which actually from what I've
- 1:18:40seen a lot of this stuff from from one of
- 1:18:43the stuff that I've seen a lot of the fan
- 1:18:45art and stuff, all of the people just put the
- 1:18:47go to sleep to the beginning.
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the go to yeah man.
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: So so like so Jeff Jeff, like he has a feeling,
- 1:18:55all right, we we've established that.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: We've established the feeling.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: We've established the feeling that makes him want to kill people.
- 1:19:01He gets an excuse to kill people, and then after
- 1:19:05getting his face burned, decides to also carve his mouth
- 1:19:08open and then also burn out his eyelids so he
- 1:19:11can look at his mouth. And now that he has
- 1:19:14the feeling, the feeling's not gonna stop feeling, so he
- 1:19:17has to keep killing people. So it's pretty apparent that
- 1:19:23the person who wrote this story saw the image of
- 1:19:27Jeff the Killer and then just wrote a backstory to
- 1:19:29that image.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: Yeah, one hundred bits, like without without a doubt, which
- 1:19:34we're about to wrap up. Let's wrap up the story,
- 1:19:37like finish it and we can discuss more of it.
- 1:19:38Because I do have a bunch of thoughts about it.
- 1:19:40But yeah, we're we're right at the tail end.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: All right, all right, I'll continue, I'll continue, all right now.
- 1:19:46Fully realizing her son has gone completely insane, Jeff's mom
- 1:19:50says she's going to go get his dad to show
- 1:19:53him how good Jeff looks. The mom quickly goes to
- 1:19:56her room and wakes up her husband, prompting him to
- 1:19:59get is gun.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Jeff's gone fucking and saying, get your gun. He's gonna
- 1:20:06kill us. I love that this mother does not. That's
- 1:20:11another thing too, that you can tell that this is
- 1:20:12written by a very young person because there's no maternal
- 1:20:16or like parental instincts at all with how they the
- 1:20:19parents are acting. It feels like a Goosebumps book almost,
- 1:20:22where it's like completely void of any personality, any emotion.
- 1:20:26It's just like the kid is the complete centerpiece of it,
- 1:20:29which is fine, but it's like I'll get into it later,
- 1:20:33but it's just it's very funny. You can just tell
- 1:20:35that this is written by somebody who has no life experiences.
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: Run exactly so like and also, let's keep track of
- 1:20:41the mom through this story, tells her kids to get
- 1:20:45over their feelings, doesn't believe. Then when they said they
- 1:20:47were attacked, lets her youngest son go to jail, doesn't
- 1:20:50do anything while she watches her older son get nearly
- 1:20:54killed and then kills.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: Goes to goes to a party.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Yeah it goes to a party dressed like press gala. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:21:01it's drunk, and then doesn't stay with her son in
- 1:21:04the hospital. The only thing she does is scream at
- 1:21:07him when his bandages come off. And now when she
- 1:21:10finds him laughing clearly mentally distraught in the middle of
- 1:21:13the night, Down goes to her husband and says, get
- 1:21:17the gun.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Yeah, she's just like this old hound dog needs to
- 1:21:22be put down. It's it's that.
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: What's that the thing from Omni man I can always
- 1:21:29start over, make another kid.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: That is some serious you know what. Never mind the
- 1:21:39Jeff to Killer writers way ahead of his time. That's yeah,
- 1:21:42never mind, it's in the clear now, all right.
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: So uh there, she sees Jeff in the doorway, overheard
- 1:21:50what his mom said to his dad, in which Jeff says, Mommy,
- 1:21:57you right. Jeff proceeds to gut both of them, and
- 1:22:02then from here I'm going to read out the last
- 1:22:04paragraph of the story. Okay, yes, His brother Lou woke up,
- 1:22:09startled by some noise. He didn't hear anything else, so
- 1:22:13he just shut his eyes and tried to go back
- 1:22:15to sleep. As he was on the border of slumber,
- 1:22:18he got the strangest feeling. Oh no, he got the
- 1:22:23strangest feeling that someone was watching him. He looked up
- 1:22:28before Jeff's hand covered his mouth. He slowly raised the knife,
- 1:22:32ready to plunge it into Lou. Lou thrashed here and there,
- 1:22:36trying to escape Jeff's prit.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: S. If you would like to do the honors, yeah,
- 1:22:44sh just go to sleep.
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: And there we have it. That's the story, and.
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: That's the ending. That is the legitimate ending to Jeff
- 1:22:53the Killer, which I want to I want to slightly
- 1:22:56give some thoughts here, because once again I said, beginning,
- 1:23:00I was going to preface that the news article. At
- 1:23:02the beginning, I was going to come back to it.
- 1:23:04And this is what I thought. I legitimately thought that
- 1:23:07it was going to circle back to the news article
- 1:23:09and that Jeff was going to that this was Randy's kid,
- 1:23:14and that Randy was the guy who and that's why
- 1:23:16he also threw the knife in his shoulder because Randy
- 1:23:18stabbed Jeff in the shoulder. There's a lot of shoulder
- 1:23:20stabbage in this. So I thought it was Jeff getting
- 1:23:24revenge in a weird way and like maybe going to
- 1:23:26abduct or you know, murder Randy's kid or something for
- 1:23:30having or like or even uh Troy or Keith trying
- 1:23:35to get his revenge in some weird way. But that
- 1:23:38that never comes back. There's so many like loose ends
- 1:23:41in this where it could have gone in a lot
- 1:23:43of different places. It's it's very very vanilla, very you know,
- 1:23:49same zy, you know, a lot of cliches that come.
- 1:23:51But I thought I was like, oh, that'd be a
- 1:23:53fun way to like full circle it, you know what
- 1:23:55I mean.
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: Randy's connected to the murder from the police report at
- 1:23:59the beginning, but no, it's just he's killing people and
- 1:24:02then it goes back and then it's like, yeah, and
- 1:24:04he killed people before too, that's it.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know, I think that there's there's ways
- 1:24:11to do serial killer kind of stuff where kind of
- 1:24:16like a The best example of that is probably Michael Myers,
- 1:24:20where it's just the horror is is it's just that
- 1:24:23he's a killing machine that there is no justifiable reason.
- 1:24:27He's just a monster. That's that's fine. But the thing
- 1:24:31about Michael, at least you know before they ruined it
- 1:24:33with like prequels and stuff like that, is that he's
- 1:24:35a very mysterious figure. You just get like a little
- 1:24:38blurb from him as a kid being kind of insane,
- 1:24:40and then now he's like escaped this psych ward and
- 1:24:43he's like out. And about the reason that Jeff it's
- 1:24:46weird is that we start we're trying to sympathize with
- 1:24:49him as a normal character, and then we're getting all
- 1:24:52of these feelings, and the problem with having all these
- 1:24:55feelings and the meme of the feeling is that we
- 1:24:58never understand what it is. It's never blatantly kind of said,
- 1:25:01like what is it. I think it's trying to be
- 1:25:03the idea that he has some kind of bloodlust. But
- 1:25:05the problem with that is that every time he's ever
- 1:25:08attacked somebody, the story it was self defense. Yeah's justifiable
- 1:25:12every time.
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: Yep, he only fights people who try to kill him beforehand.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: So so I thought to myself, I was when I
- 1:25:18was reading it, I was like, Okay, so he has
- 1:25:20this feeling of wanting to hurt somebody. So the first
- 1:25:23time he does it, it's an interesting way to maybe
- 1:25:25set up that the first time that you indulge yourself
- 1:25:28on these psychotic breaks is in self defense. So in
- 1:25:32a way, even people around you are like, you had
- 1:25:34to do it. You know it was self defense, you
- 1:25:36had to do it. But no, it's like he's punished
- 1:25:39for it. But then he also defends himself again. And
- 1:25:43I thought it would be people give light and like
- 1:25:47make a positive out of him defending himself. Like if anything,
- 1:25:50if you're gonna go cliche with it, have the dad
- 1:25:53be like, you know, that's my boy, you know, beating
- 1:25:56his ass whatever, you really gave it to him, good whatever,
- 1:25:59right the dot like that, the masculine dad who's really
- 1:26:03like supportive of you know, you're not exactly. So then
- 1:26:08it's like he's rewarded for it until it goes too
- 1:26:11far to the point where okay, well now he's like
- 1:26:13he's at the party and maybe he like hurts one
- 1:26:15of the kids or something like that, and then you
- 1:26:17have a slow deterioration of his character. But that never comes.
- 1:26:20It's just like, Okay, he defended himself both times in
- 1:26:25justifiable ways, and then because he's a burn victim, we're
- 1:26:28supposed to just believe that he had a psychotic break,
- 1:26:30which once again, that could possibly work, but it's just
- 1:26:33so it's so quick, like the ending is so abruptly quick,
- 1:26:37and that's where all the interesting stuff happens. And it's
- 1:26:39so like even the way that they describe like the killing,
- 1:26:42which you don't have to go in depth, and I
- 1:26:44know I'm rambling by the way I apologize, No.
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: This is good, this is good, but the the you
- 1:26:52don't have to go in depth with, you know, really schlocky,
- 1:26:55like really describing the disembowelment and stuff.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: But I really didn't like how at the end it's
- 1:27:02just like he guts his parents, and that's supposed to
- 1:27:04be if they's supposed to be emotional. Way to that,
- 1:27:06I think that you have to put as much emphasis
- 1:27:09as you did into describing the nonsensical fights as you
- 1:27:13would is like putting emotional depth behind somebody by a
- 1:27:17kid going psychotic and killing his birth parents. But that
- 1:27:22also doesn't work because his parents are like very unlikable.
- 1:27:25There's no real trace that they actually care about Jeff
- 1:27:29like at all.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: So actually it seems they actively hate him.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: Yeah, would if they actively hate him, then I almost
- 1:27:36wish that like that would have been dived in more too,
- 1:27:39like it would have been more cathartic.
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: Serial killer creation if yeah, like the parents maybe had
- 1:27:45like a hand in that that maybe they're hated of him,
- 1:27:47pushed him that way.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: And the whole time too, is that Jeff the entire
- 1:27:52story is guilt ridden right by his brother being arrested
- 1:27:59for his crime, but he just not. He just kind
- 1:28:02of nonchalantly kills him at the end, which, even if
- 1:28:04you're psychotic, I think it does a disservice to not
- 1:28:08have any kind of emotional resont, like if anything could
- 1:28:11have not have been like hey I killed I killed them,
- 1:28:13you know, we can be free now, or something like that,
- 1:28:16and then that's when lu could like challenge him into
- 1:28:19where Jeff is like, Okay, well I thought you were
- 1:28:21on my side, fuck you, and then he kills him.
- 1:28:24But it feels like you have all this emotional tie
- 1:28:26ins and all this build up to not have it
- 1:28:28pay off at all, Like it's just like, oh, I'm
- 1:28:30psycho and I killed them. Yeah, yeah, there's no weight
- 1:28:34to it, there's no emotional depth to it, there's no
- 1:28:36connection that the viewer or the I mean, the reader
- 1:28:39can have. It's just kind of nonchalant and it's creepy.
- 1:28:42It's it's just supposed to be like and this is
- 1:28:44what I feel like is creepy. But I think horror.
- 1:28:50Horror itself is very cheesy, like it's it's a very
- 1:28:54cheesy thing. It's fun, but a lot of the best
- 1:28:57horror is wrapped around great narratives and highlighted through these
- 1:29:01kind of crazy eccentric things. Because you can do the
- 1:29:04joker smile thing, you know, you can have that be
- 1:29:08in there and not have it be so cheesy and stuff,
- 1:29:11or even if it is, it can still be fun.
- 1:29:13But the way that this thing wraps up it feels
- 1:29:15just so cheap. There's no real story or connection that
- 1:29:19we're trying to feel. There's no kind of like character
- 1:29:22development or growth. There's nothing really that I'm supposed to
- 1:29:25be fighting for. The desperation of Jeff killing his parents
- 1:29:28holds no weight because there's nothing that's been established that
- 1:29:31I should care about this, which it's kind of the
- 1:29:34biggest detriment to it. But it's interesting how captivating the
- 1:29:39story has been to people, which for two thousand and eight.
- 1:29:41It probably was something where you're like, oh shit, you
- 1:29:43know you read it and you're like, oh god, you know,
- 1:29:46but I don't know. I mean, this is my first
- 1:29:49time ever reading it was when for this podcast. Once again,
- 1:29:52I've seen the episode or I've seen that picture a
- 1:29:55billion times probably, yeah, but I had never read the story.
- 1:29:58I've even heard Jeff the ki before, but I've never
- 1:30:01actually read it.
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: Yeah. It's uh, it's so fascinating how it's so impactful
- 1:30:10to internet culture. Like when people think creepypastas, they think
- 1:30:12Jeff the Killer and Slenderman, like that's the two. It's
- 1:30:15so impactful, and looking back on it, I'm so upset
- 1:30:21that it scared me as much as you did. Like this,
- 1:30:24this was like the best we had to offer, and
- 1:30:26like there were really good creepypastas and great stuff came
- 1:30:29out of that time period, and we'll talk about some
- 1:30:31in future episodes, but man, this was not one of those.
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: No. No, it feels like very amateurish. I mean, there's
- 1:30:39a note up top here. I don't know what the
- 1:30:40site is for the so apologies for not having the
- 1:30:42direct site, but it seems like the original creepypasta is
- 1:30:46credited to the user game Fuel TV, and was actually
- 1:30:50moved from several creepypasta sites because of its perceived low quality.
- 1:30:53So I think even back then, so yeah, I think.
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: I remember hearing something about that.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's it's very cheesy. It's it's interesting, though
- 1:31:02I do wonder the philosophy of some of the things
- 1:31:05of like people I think desperately reach for reasons to
- 1:31:09feel scared and to feel like they have like a
- 1:31:11fun story. And I think, if anything, this just shows
- 1:31:15how dedicated people are into wanting to consume that kind
- 1:31:19of media. Because Jeff the Killer is definitely not the
- 1:31:21first one, but it's one of the most infamous. And
- 1:31:23I think it just goes to show to what like
- 1:31:26a single image of something can do. It's very much
- 1:31:28like you know, when we were talking about Ted the Kaber,
- 1:31:30having just like those little images in there goes such
- 1:31:33a long way.
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: Yeah, of like putting yourself in that thing, and even
- 1:31:37having like this blown out meme image of Jeff the Killer.
- 1:31:39I mean, as a kid, it would be terrifying. I
- 1:31:41mean it is a creepy image. Now it's horribly dated.
- 1:31:44I mean it's like, you know, it is what it is.
- 1:31:46But back then at the toime, yeah, a razor flip phone,
- 1:31:50it would fuck me up.
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: I was like, sure, the story didn't help me, young
- 1:31:54me being afraid, but it was really the image that
- 1:31:56did it. Like I saw that image, I imagine. I
- 1:31:58remember falling asleep in night thinking of that face in
- 1:32:01the corner of my room, especially because like the the
- 1:32:06modus operandi, so to speak, of Jeff the Killer is
- 1:32:08that he like hides in your room at night while
- 1:32:10you're asleep and waits for you to wake up to
- 1:32:12kill you. So things like that would play out in
- 1:32:14my mind when I was afraid at night, So that
- 1:32:17that's really what did it. The story, like I thought,
- 1:32:20was scary ish, but it's the face that does the
- 1:32:22heavy lifting culturally too, I think, because after this, Jeff
- 1:32:26the Killer found his way. I remember reading dozens of
- 1:32:30creepy pastas that were either completely unrelated to him and
- 1:32:34then he'd just show up, or like people would write
- 1:32:37these almost fan fiction creepy pastas about like Jeff the
- 1:32:41Killer interacting with Eilish Jack or Laughing Jack or the
- 1:32:45slender Man or you know, stuff like that, like they
- 1:32:47would all stick around each other. So I remember the
- 1:32:53character kind of becoming his own thing, but it was
- 1:32:55all very fanficky, like I can I can't think. I'm
- 1:32:59sure they're out there, but I can't think of a
- 1:33:02good story involving Jeff sadly not like the character has
- 1:33:07a lot to work off of anyway other than being
- 1:33:09a creepy face.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, I mean that's kind of the interesting thing,
- 1:33:13even with like a even something because I mean, you
- 1:33:16know slender Man. I mean anything that becomes extremely pop culture,
- 1:33:20I feel like has looked on as being cheap or whatever.
- 1:33:22But even with something like slender Man, just the idea
- 1:33:25is much more realized, I think in terms of like
- 1:33:29kind of like a pied piper, feel of like this
- 1:33:31thing wants to come out and abduct children basically like
- 1:33:36take them away into like this interdimensional place whatever. There's
- 1:33:39a lot more to go, Jeff. It's just once you
- 1:33:41hear that, it's just simply a burn a thirteen year
- 1:33:46old burn victim.
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: Who for some reason it is like super strong sometimes
- 1:33:51like he can one punch something, yeah, but other times
- 1:33:53as a child can just kick him off, right. Yeah.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: And that's the thing too, is like if a ten
- 1:34:00year old child can just kick him off. It's like,
- 1:34:01what kind of threat does he really pose?
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: That's kind of punch stop of heart, right, like it's his.
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: Power death punch of heart. You can just snap a
- 1:34:10man's wrist very easily. All that stuff, which is, you know,
- 1:34:14that's fun, but it's it goes into it. There's there's
- 1:34:18times when being ambiguous is extremely helpful and fun. Sometimes
- 1:34:23I think that it can also be it can be
- 1:34:25a bit of a cop out. I think that like,
- 1:34:28if people are too ambiguous with things to me, it's
- 1:34:30like they're trying to have the reader do too much
- 1:34:33of the legwork, which I think can happen. But I
- 1:34:36do think that when you over describe these things, you
- 1:34:40can ruin the mystique of what might make something mysterious
- 1:34:43or creepy, like if you would have gotten like little
- 1:34:45bits of like almost if you imagine this narrative where
- 1:34:49instead of having the news article, the whole perspective or
- 1:34:51the whole story, was a child talking to this person
- 1:34:54in his.
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: Room or something one night, yeah, whatever.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: And it's like Jeff, he's like trying to pride poke
- 1:35:01Jeff until inevitably Jeff is like giving him maybe an
- 1:35:04ultimatum of like killing him or letting him go whatever,
- 1:35:07And the kid is trying to buy time. And you
- 1:35:09put some like actual respect into like a child character
- 1:35:12of having the the the hindsight to try and you know,
- 1:35:16survive in some kind of weird way, then it becomes
- 1:35:19more disjointed. And if you are going through the heath
- 1:35:21leather ledger joker vibe, the best thing about that character
- 1:35:24is that he's lying the entire time. He changes up
- 1:35:27his story about how he got his scars numerous times
- 1:35:29in the story, and the whole thing is that he's
- 1:35:31not going to tell you the truth about it. Right,
- 1:35:34if someone's truly psychotic, why would they actually indulge you
- 1:35:37into like an actual story. So it'd be kind of
- 1:35:40you know, I think that there's a way that this
- 1:35:41could work and be interesting. Like I don't mind the
- 1:35:44idea of it being said in this in this, uh
- 1:35:47the scene of like this like you know, smiling face
- 1:35:50kind of hiding in the shadow talking to you and stuff,
- 1:35:53and you know, maybe like it doesn't want to be disturbed.
- 1:35:57And the kid is trying to keep his parents out
- 1:35:58because he knows that if the parents it's coming, they
- 1:36:00could be killed by this creature. So there's I mean,
- 1:36:04I don't know the influence is there. It's very schlocky
- 1:36:08and fun. It's such a small read to where it's
- 1:36:10like if you guys are looking for something kind of
- 1:36:13funny to digest that isn't such a big herculean piece
- 1:36:17of literature. It's a very easy read. And there's even
- 1:36:20like there's a great I wanted to give a shout
- 1:36:22out to because I read it. I read the story,
- 1:36:25but I also listened to a to a rendition of it.
- 1:36:29Let me see, you just want to pull up the
- 1:36:30name really quick.
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: I think mister Creepypasta was where I heard this story
- 1:36:34for the first time.
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: Or I listened to Chilling Tales for Dark Nights as
- 1:36:41it was, and they do a great rendition of it,
- 1:36:43and they have like sound effects and stuff, so shout
- 1:36:46out them and mister Creepypasta as well, so really fun stuff.
- 1:36:51I think the story is pretty fun to digest to
- 1:36:54in these audio formats where people put in voice acting
- 1:36:57in it and the sound effects, so it is overall
- 1:37:01very cheesy, but I would say a very swell time.
- 1:37:03Good old Jeff the killer dude, nothing like some joker scars.
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: What a what a weird banger to go back and
- 1:37:10look at it. Yeah, I think what you're saying about
- 1:37:12anonymity is correct. Like if the story or ambiguity, I mean,
- 1:37:16if the story had remained just the faith, it would
- 1:37:18remain more unexplainable and creepy in hide sight. But because
- 1:37:21we have all that, it's like, Okay, this is a
- 1:37:24bit triguard.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: It feels a little bit try hard, and I think
- 1:37:28it feels a bit uh, it just feels dated. Yeah,
- 1:37:30it just feels very, very very dated and very like
- 1:37:34it's it's it's hard not to immediately be able to
- 1:37:37call the bullshit on it because it just feels so
- 1:37:41I mean, just so aggrubly dated. I mean, there's there's
- 1:37:44so many people coming out right now that write so
- 1:37:46many great things, like you know, I mean cane pixels, rightist,
- 1:37:50I mean.
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: And also and also like if this story was like
- 1:37:54a project someone did to try to get better at
- 1:37:57writing when they were in middle school or whatever, then
- 1:37:59you know, I'm sure they've developed into a fantastic grider
- 1:38:02now and I'm sure they would probably say the same
- 1:38:04thing looking back that like yeah this was yeah.
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: Yeah, with anybody in their work, And I think as
- 1:38:10like a last thought for me at least is this
- 1:38:12just goes to show too that, like, you don't have
- 1:38:15to be the best writer in the world to captivate
- 1:38:17people like you don't like if there's any people that
- 1:38:20are like, oh I want to I'm a like I'd
- 1:38:22love to write something, but I'm too nervous to do something.
- 1:38:25Sometimes you just have to simply just write something and
- 1:38:28allow the scrutiny to hit you, and sometimes you might
- 1:38:30be surprised by being like, holy shit, this thing really
- 1:38:33took off. Whatever. You don't have to be a master
- 1:38:35to tap into some of the core ideas that people like,
- 1:38:38and to the imagination of people is that they like too.
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: So great is always make the video or write the
- 1:38:44story for sure, for.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: Sure always every time, don't snooze, you lose. It's the
- 1:38:50whole deal. So yeah, I mean, do you got any
- 1:38:53other thoughts or what do you think?
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: Think we about covered everything? Didn't we? I would say
- 1:38:57I think we did.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: I think Jeff the Killer is a what what a
- 1:39:01timeless classic of internet depravity, of internet culture. You gotta
- 1:39:06love it. I think that it's gonna be something that
- 1:39:08stands with us. And I think, well, after we're long gone,
- 1:39:10there's gonna be people still reading Jeff the Killer, laughing
- 1:39:13and giggling, wondering about some of these lines. I think that,
- 1:39:16and I think that that's so charming. I love it, yea,
- 1:39:18And I think that on a on a closing note too,
- 1:39:21if you have any suggestions of future wet we have.
- 1:39:23We've gotten a lot of comments about people asking about
- 1:39:26uh stories and stuff like that, and I did see
- 1:39:30one comment that I thought was interesting, right, Actually it
- 1:39:32was a series of comments, but people saying that if
- 1:39:34we do know the subjects, we're getting ready to get
- 1:39:36like a Twitter set up to where we're gonna probably
- 1:39:39prompt people what the episode is going to be so
- 1:39:41you can read the story as well before the episode,
- 1:39:43so a little more informed. That was a nice helpful comment.
- 1:39:47All the comments have been amazing, we guys, you know,
- 1:39:49all the love we've gotten on the first episode has
- 1:39:51been beautiful, beautiful beautiful.
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think too, like uh, Like I said,
- 1:39:58we want to cover a lot of classic core stories,
- 1:40:00and we'll look at some of the best ones, some
- 1:40:01of the inspiring ones. But if we're talking about impact,
- 1:40:04Jeff the Killers one of the biggest, so we had
- 1:40:06to cover it, and if we're gonna cover it, then
- 1:40:08we have to rag on it. It's just how it works.
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna have some goofs. It has nothing but
- 1:40:14respect in our hearts.
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: Let's do this. Hunter, say one, and it can't be
- 1:40:19the face. Say one positive thing about that story.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: MM, now are you talking about is it any general positivity?
- 1:40:30Are you talking about actual constructive positive? Because there's a
- 1:40:32lot of positivity when it comes to tell me something funny,
- 1:40:35unintentional funny, like tell me something.
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: You liked about it intentionally, intentional, that you liked about
- 1:40:41it intentionally.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: I'm trying to actually, I'm trying to be completely honest.
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: I'm legitimately thinking.
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: I'm legitimly thinking. I think that. I mean, I like
- 1:41:03the I guess I like to set up with the
- 1:41:08news broadcast at the beginning, even though it doesn't go anywhere.
- 1:41:11I still enjoyed. I enjoyed that little blurb. I like
- 1:41:15the idea of starting that the narrative or listening to
- 1:41:19is past tense versus presentense. So that's kind of an
- 1:41:24interesting display of structure. Remember, I'm not saying that it's
- 1:41:29it's not on levels of like pulp fiction or anything.
- 1:41:31But I just mean, like, yeah, sure, sure, I like
- 1:41:34the idea that, like, this thing is still happening, and
- 1:41:36by the end of the story it's like that's the
- 1:41:39technically the beginning of this, like Rising Killer. I guess
- 1:41:44if I had to think.
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: That, I'll take it very nice. I think you, I'll say,
- 1:41:53even though we made fun of it the whole, like
- 1:41:56uh oh, he had a feeling feeling like he got
- 1:41:58a feeling that is better, that is better than just
- 1:42:02doing what most other stories of this caliber would do,
- 1:42:06and whenever he gets burned at the end just says
- 1:42:09his mind snapped. Then they did partially foreshadow, even though
- 1:42:14that was always their intention, even though the stories just
- 1:42:17to rush to how the face came to be. I
- 1:42:20like that there was a feeling rather than just after
- 1:42:23the hospital he just kills everyone because he's crazy because
- 1:42:26his face is messed up, like it. I like the feeling.
- 1:42:30In other words, I.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: Like I I yeah, I appreciate the idea that they
- 1:42:34were like that there was intention behind it. For sure.
- 1:42:36It wasn't just there. There was at least a garner
- 1:42:39of setup for it, which is nice.
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: Yeah, So yeah, it wasn't just like, oh, his face
- 1:42:43was messed up. Now he killed his brother, right, which
- 1:42:45also not to immediately leave after we're talking about positives,
- 1:42:49the fact that everything that happened to him, all of
- 1:42:51his violence, was to protect his brother. Then he just
- 1:42:54kills him at the end, like bro.
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: That's what I mean. That's what I'm saying, is that
- 1:42:57it doesn't make any sense, like the idea that the
- 1:42:59whole time he's so guilt tripped and ridden, which also
- 1:43:02it makes sense that he kills his parents and if anything,
- 1:43:05he like spares his brother at the end he's like
- 1:43:07we're free or whatever, and he's like, Jeff, what did
- 1:43:09you do? Or you know, like something like that to
- 1:43:11where you could have the parents be fucking terrible. But
- 1:43:13it needs to be more, it needs to be more
- 1:43:15aligned with the actual narrative and it needs to be
- 1:43:17set up better. But you know, for him to just
- 1:43:20kid that, if anything, that was that that's my that
- 1:43:22was my biggest complaint, honestly, Like not the cheesy dialogue
- 1:43:25or whatever else, it's just a sheer fact that he
- 1:43:27would just blantantly kill his brother. And that's the literal
- 1:43:30finale of it makes no sense, Like it completely undermines
- 1:43:34the entire like the entire set up structure of this
- 1:43:37entire story. So yeah, yeah, not good.
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: But Jeff has moments. It has moments, and that was Jeff.
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: It has moments. That was Jeff the Killer, which I
- 1:43:45don't know. Do we have any idea of what we're
- 1:43:47going to be doing next?
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, I feel like I kind of wanted to
- 1:43:51cover like a classic that was bad to kind of
- 1:43:54for one, established to the audience that we might cover
- 1:43:56stuff like that, but also to keep it vary. So
- 1:43:58since we've covered like a famous one, a famous like
- 1:44:02creepypasta thing, not creepypasta, like a like horror story stairs
- 1:44:07in the Woods, and now we've covered like a famous
- 1:44:09creepypasta and kind of ragged on it a bit, maybe
- 1:44:11next time we could pick like a personal favorite of
- 1:44:14ours or like something something that we legitimately think is
- 1:44:18a good example of early and after we do three,
- 1:44:21we'll have like three said about early Internet, whoror then
- 1:44:24I think we can go anywhere we want. We could
- 1:44:26go to like urban legends around the Internet, we'd go
- 1:44:28to more spooky stuff, whatever you think. But I think
- 1:44:31doing a personal favorite maybe a cool third episode.
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: Yeah, wat to you. We'll have to let people know
- 1:44:36maybe a little beforehand which ones we're talking about. But
- 1:44:38until next time, I think that least if you don't
- 1:44:41decide to participate in the read along, at least it'll
- 1:44:45be something surprising. I'm very curious to see what you
- 1:44:47choose as well. I'm also I think it's a good
- 1:44:49opportunity to leave a comment below too of what's your
- 1:44:51favorite Internet story. I feel like there might be people
- 1:44:53that are cross pollinating a lot of people with the
- 1:44:56same opinions of what.
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: Their favorite stories are.
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's gonna be exciting to see. But until
- 1:45:01next time, this has been Creep Castep Canyon, and Windagoon.
- 1:45:06Appreciate you guys. This has been a lot of fun.
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: Man, this is a ton of fun. I'm so happy
- 1:45:10to see to see this channel, this podcast doing as
- 1:45:14well as it is. I'm really blown away by it.
- 1:45:16Are we not? We're now on Spotify as well?
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: Right, yes we should.
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: We're now on Spotify So I.
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: Saw some people talking about that too.
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: Yo, No, we are on Spotif we should probably put
- 1:45:26something at the beginning of the video, like the little
- 1:45:28Spotify logo or whatever, just to let people. Yeah, but like,
- 1:45:32for those who are interested, you can go check us
- 1:45:34out on Spotify. So but just to see people enjoy
- 1:45:36the show on any platform and like comment, leave constructive
- 1:45:40criticism stuff like that, it really does me in the world.
- 1:45:43It's fantastic. So I'm so stoked. I'm excited to keep
- 1:45:47going to thank you all so much for watching.
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: It means the most appreciate you, guys.
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: Hugs and kisses by bugs and kisses.
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: Bye bye, see in the next one.
