  and actions matter. We are living in a moment where
• 0:16
  information travels faster than ever and truth can get buried
• 0:20
  under noise almost instantly. Rumors, half truths, misleading
• 0:24
  content. It's everywhere.
• 0:26
  And in the middle of that, there's a quiet but powerful
• 0:29
  question each of us has to answer.
• 0:31
  What kind of person am I going to be?
• 0:34
  Will I be someone who bends the truth when it's convenient, or
• 0:37
  someone who holds the line even when honesty costs something?
• 0:42
  Proverbs chapter 19, verses 5 and 6 are direct.
• 0:46
  A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes
• 0:49
  out lies will perish. God takes dishonesty seriously,
• 0:54
  not because he's harsh, but because truth is foundational to
• 0:57
  everything, to trust, to justice, to genuine community.

  When lies are normalized, everything built on top of them
• 1:05
  becomes unstable. Psalm 74 verse 2 gives us
• 1:09
  something to hold in the middle of chaos.
• 1:12
  Remember your congregation, which you have purchased of old,
• 1:15
  which you have redeemed to be the tribe of your inheritance.
• 1:19
  The psalmist is reminding God and himself that God does not
• 1:23
  forget His people. When everything feels chaotic
• 1:26
  and it seems like injustice is winning, God remembers.
• 1:30
  He is not passive. He cares about what's happening
• 1:33
  to his people, and he moves on their behalf.
• 1:37
  Then there's the scene in Second Samuel chapter one.
• 1:40
  A man comes to David with news of Saul's death, presenting
• 1:44
  himself as the one who had struck the killing blow,
• 1:47
  apparently hoping David would reward him.
• 1:50
  But David's response revealed the depth of his character.
• 1:53
  Second Samuel chapter 1, verses 13 and 14 record David
• 1:57
  confronting him. Where do you come from?
• 2:00
  And when the man identified himself, David said, How was it
• 2:04
  you were not afraid to stretch out your hand to destroy the
• 2:07
  Lord's anointed? He didn't celebrate the removal
• 2:10
  of his enemy. He held the line of integrity
• 2:13
  even when he could have easily justified looking the other way,
• 2:17
  even when the situation might have seemed to benefit him.
• 2:21
  That's who David was at his core, not someone who bent his
• 2:24
  values when circumstances made it convenient.
• 2:28
  Someone who held to what was right regardless of what was in
• 2:31
  it for him. Here's what I want you to take
• 2:34
  with you. Your character is most clearly
• 2:37
  revealed in the small moments, not the big ones.
• 2:40
  It's in the group project, when no one would know if you took
• 2:43
  credit for work you didn't do. It's in the conversation when a
• 2:47
  small exaggeration would make your story sound better.
• 2:51
  It's in the moment when speaking up for someone who is being
• 2:54
  treated unfairly might cost you something socially.
• 2:57
  Those are your first Samuel 24 moments, your second Samuel 1
• 3:01
  moments, the moments where your values meet pressure and one of
• 3:05
  them has to yield. God notices those moments.
• 3:09
  He honors integrity in ways that aren't always immediately
• 3:12
  visible, but they are always real.
• 3:15
  And a life built on honesty, courage, and genuine character
• 3:19
  is a life that ultimately stands firm.
• 3:22
  You have a chance every single day to choose integrity.
• 3:26
  Take it. Let's pray.

  Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding us that our words and

  actions reveal who we truly are. In a world where dishonesty is
• 3:37
  common and shortcuts are celebrated, give us the courage
• 3:41
  to hold the line of integrity. Help us to speak truth, act
• 3:45
  justly, and stand for what is right even when it costs us
• 3:48
  something. Let our lives reflect your heart
• 3:52
  and give us confidence that you see, you remember, and you honor
• 3:55
  faithfulness in Jesus name, Amen.

  the people also have fallen and are dead.

  David said to the young man who told him, How do you know that

  Saul and Jonathan his son are dead?

  The young man who told him said, As I happened by chance on Mount

  Gilboa, behold Saul was leaning on his spear, and behold, the

  Chariots and the horsemen followed close behind him.

  When he looked behind him, he saw me and called to me.

  I answered, Here I am, he said to me, Who are you?

  I answered him, I am in a male kite.

  He said to me, please stand beside me and kill me, for

  anguish has taken hold of me because my life lingers in me.

  So I stood beside him and killed him because I was sure that he

  could not live after he had fallen.

  I took the crown that was on his head and the bracelet that was

  on his arm and have brought them here to my Lord.

  Then David took hold on his clothes and tore them, and all

  the men who were with him did likewise.

  They mourned, wept, and fasted until evening for Saul, and for
• 9:15
  Jonathan his son, and for the people of Yahweh, and for the
• 9:18
  House of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.

  David said to the young man who told him, Where are you from?
• 9:25
  He answered, I am the son of a foreigner and a male kite.
• 9:29
  David said to him, Why were you not afraid to stretch out your
• 9:32
  hand to destroy Yahweh's anointed?

  David called one of the young men and said, Go near and cut
• 9:38
  him down. He struck him so that he died.

  David said to him, Your blood be on your head, for your mouth has
• 9:45
  testified against you, saying, I have slain Yahweh's anointed.

  David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over
• 9:54
  Jonathan his son, And he commanded them to teach the
• 9:57
  children of Judah the song of the bow.

  Behold, it is written in the book of Jashar.

  Your glory, Israel was slain on your high places.

  How the mighty have fallen. Don't tell it in Gath, don't
• 10:10
  publish it in the streets of Ashkellen, lest the daughters of
• 10:13
  the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the
• 10:16
  uncircumcised triumph. You mountains of Gilboa, let
• 10:20
  there be no dew or rain on you, and no fields of offerings.

  For there the shield of the mighty was defiled and castaway.

  The shield of Saul was not anointed with oil from the blood
• 10:31
  of the slain, from the fat of the Mighty.

  Jonathan's bow didn't turn back. Saul's sword didn't return
• 10:37
  empty. Saul and Jonathan were lovely
• 10:40
  and pleasant in their lives. In their death they were not
• 10:43
  divided. They were swifter than eagles.
• 10:46
  They were stronger than lions. You daughters of Israel, weep
• 10:50
  over Saul, who clothed you delicately in scarlet, who put
• 10:54
  ornaments of gold on your clothing.
• 10:56
  How the mighty have fallen. In the middle of the battle.
• 10:59
  Jonathan was slain on your high places.
• 11:02
  I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan.
• 11:04
  You have been very pleasant to me.
• 11:06
  Your love to me was wonderful. Passing the love of women.
• 11:10
  How the mighty have fallen and the weapons of war have
• 11:13
