- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Pumpas and
- 0:26Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. What else, twelves,
- 0:35Speaker 1: This is Michael Bumpas with Nasa Choby. You're listening to
- 0:37Speaker 1: Hawk Talk Preview edition Week thirteen, the Seahawks take on
- 0:41Speaker 1: the Giants. Before we dive in, here's Nasa Chubby with
- 0:44Speaker 1: the injury update. Thanks bump Well, the Seahawks came out
- 0:46Speaker 1: of the game against the Eagles pretty healthy. Chris Carson,
- 0:49Speaker 1: you played in his first game since Week seven. Was
- 0:51Speaker 1: a little sore given his first game action in a while,
- 0:53Speaker 1: but he should be fine for Sunday's game against the Giants. However,
- 0:57Speaker 1: Carlos Dunlap, he was a new addition to the injury report,
- 1:00Speaker 1: this week, head coach Pete Carroll gave us an update
- 1:02Speaker 1: on where he stands in his status for this weekend.
- 1:04Speaker 1: As far as Carlos's concerned, he's got a store of foot.
- 1:07Speaker 1: There's a little something going on, but nothing serious, and
- 1:09Speaker 1: so we'll just needs to see how he goes and
- 1:11Speaker 1: handles the week. I can't tell you how he'll be
- 1:13Speaker 1: on game day yet, but we're hopeful and he's hopefully
- 1:16Speaker 1: he'll be able to play. Running Back Rashad Penny in
- 1:18Speaker 1: draft picked Darrell Taylor, who get to practice with the
- 1:21Speaker 1: Seahawks this season, seeing begetting even closer for a possible
- 1:24Speaker 1: return next week. We're going to get word by the
- 1:27Speaker 1: end of the week here on Darryl. Rashad's getting real
- 1:30Speaker 1: close to doing some stuff and so I'm excited to
- 1:32Speaker 1: see if it's going to be this these next couple
- 1:35Speaker 1: of days or it's next Monday. But we're right there
- 1:37Speaker 1: for Rashot to jump back in here. Lastly, cornerback Quentin
- 1:40Speaker 1: Dunbar is making a lot of progress suffering from a
- 1:42Speaker 1: knee injury that plays him on IR three weeks ago.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Pete Carroll gave us an update on whether we will
- 1:47Speaker 1: see him back next week. He's got wait one more
- 1:50Speaker 1: week before he can come back, and I think he's
- 1:51Speaker 1: going to be ready to do that. I think from
- 1:53Speaker 1: the way things are going, he's got a chance before
- 1:55Speaker 1: we get going. Don't forget Every Thursday at seven pm
- 1:57Speaker 1: at Talks Live on seven ten ESPN, seat that Michael
- 2:00Speaker 1: Bombas and Paul Morier prepare you for each and every
- 2:03Speaker 1: game with their insight analysis, player interviews, and behind the
- 2:06Speaker 1: scenes look. After next Seahawks matchup, let's get right into it.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Who's next the New York Giants? Who's stacks? Who's next?
- 2:18Speaker 1: Who's next? I'll tell you who's next. The first place,
- 2:22Speaker 1: New York Giants. They are first place in the NFAC.
- 2:25Speaker 1: He's not saying much, but it's still the first place.
- 2:27Speaker 1: They still got a spot in the playoffs right now.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And this is the NFL, so you have to respect
- 2:32Speaker 1: every opponent that your play. Here they're wins, they're four
- 2:35Speaker 1: and seven, but here they're wins. Two wins against the
- 2:37Speaker 1: Washington football team, one win against the Eagles, another win
- 2:40Speaker 1: against the Cincinnati Bengals. You look at this team, you
- 2:43Speaker 1: look at the record, and it's easy to try to
- 2:45Speaker 1: go to sleep on these guys. But I gotta remind
- 2:48Speaker 1: people in NAST this is the National Football League. Anybody
- 2:51Speaker 1: can get it on any day now. You can even
- 2:53Speaker 1: get it on a Wednesday, depending on what the schedule
- 2:55Speaker 1: looks like. You get any day of the week here,
- 2:58Speaker 1: no question about And here's the thing, man, I think.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I think what you have to look at the second
- 3:02Speaker 1: week in role play in the NFC East and it's
- 3:04Speaker 1: these guys have something to play for. So you mentioned
- 3:06Speaker 1: it is a National Football League, and yes they're four
- 3:08Speaker 1: and seven, and you can look at all those losses.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I mean, this team started the season oz and five.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I mean they were dead in the water knowing five.
- 3:14Speaker 1: They've won four to six, but they got something to
- 3:16Speaker 1: play for and they're in first place right now. So
- 3:18Speaker 1: there's still a dangerous team because they're hungry and they
- 3:21Speaker 1: know they can still get into the playoffs and host
- 3:23Speaker 1: a first round playoff game. So despite the record, I
- 3:26Speaker 1: think there's something that they've got to be reckoned with
- 3:28Speaker 1: and we can't take them lightly. With that being said,
- 3:32Speaker 1: this is a game I'll come out and say it
- 3:33Speaker 1: from the jump that the Seahawks should win and should
- 3:35Speaker 1: win by more than double digits. They should win. I'm
- 3:39Speaker 1: with you there. They have a might have a backup quarterback.
- 3:41Speaker 1: We'll see what the situation looks like with Jones, they
- 3:44Speaker 1: had a hamstring injury. I believe Coote mccorre would be
- 3:46Speaker 1: the next guy up. We don't know what's gonna happen there.
- 3:49Speaker 1: But let's take a closer look. They had to head comparison,
- 3:51Speaker 1: all right, NFL rank when it comes to offense. When
- 3:54Speaker 1: it comes to offense, the Seahawks just got him an
- 3:56Speaker 1: every category. Seahawks for fifth. In total offense, they're t nine.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Seahawks are fourth. In passing offense they're twenty eight. Seahawks
- 4:03Speaker 1: are twelfth, and rushing they are fifteenth. Seahawks are thirteen
- 4:06Speaker 1: points per game. They are thirtieth allowing or excuse me,
- 4:10Speaker 1: scoring nineteen point five. You look at the paper, you
- 4:13Speaker 1: look at the sheets, you look at the stats. They
- 4:15Speaker 1: should win this game. Offensively, they are better. Flip it
- 4:18Speaker 1: over to the defense. Okay, you're gonna look at the stats.
- 4:20Speaker 1: You're gonna be like, all right, well, Giants have a
- 4:22Speaker 1: better defense. They're tenth in total defense, nineteen than passing.
- 4:25Speaker 1: But we all know what the Seahaws defense looks like
- 4:27Speaker 1: as a blake, So I kind of. I mean, you
- 4:31Speaker 1: have to look at the data. You gotta respect the numbers,
- 4:33Speaker 1: but you gotta turn on the film and also see
- 4:35Speaker 1: who's playing better football at this point. Yeah, and right now,
- 4:38Speaker 1: I mean, yes, the Giants have won three games in
- 4:40Speaker 1: a row, but if we're looking he's playing better football,
- 4:43Speaker 1: it's a Seattle Seahawks. I mean, you mentioned that, you
- 4:45Speaker 1: brought up our defense. Of course we've been beating this,
- 4:48Speaker 1: beating you guys over the head with this from the
- 4:50Speaker 1: beginning of the season. The Seahawks are not going to
- 4:52Speaker 1: come back. In the defensive numbers. Yes, they're thirty second
- 4:54Speaker 1: in total defense. Yes they're thirty second in past defense
- 4:57Speaker 1: points were game twenty six. But you gotta look at
- 4:59Speaker 1: the last ten quarters. Last ten quarters, the Seahawk defense
- 5:02Speaker 1: has played really good football. They've held opponents to under
- 5:05Speaker 1: thirty points, under three hundred fifty yards each and every week.
- 5:08Speaker 1: So they're playing their best ball of the season as
- 5:10Speaker 1: of late. So numbers aside on the defensive side of
- 5:14Speaker 1: the ball, the Seahawks, you just look at these guys
- 5:17Speaker 1: on paper, and honestly, for me, I just there's just
- 5:20Speaker 1: no way that I think the Giants could come down
- 5:22Speaker 1: to Looming Field and get a win. I mean, it's
- 5:25Speaker 1: it's one of those things. Um, I don't want to
- 5:27Speaker 1: get too confident me and you can get confident because
- 5:28Speaker 1: we're not playing on Sunday. But I'm just saying I'm
- 5:31Speaker 1: looking at the numbers and I don't see how they
- 5:33Speaker 1: can get it done. And we'll get into and key matchups.
- 5:35Speaker 1: But Daniel Jones, he's out right now. Judge came up
- 5:39Speaker 1: to Potium this week and said he's not sure. We're
- 5:41Speaker 1: gonna wait and see as he goes through practice. But
- 5:43Speaker 1: judging by their last game, his hamstring looked pretty bad.
- 5:46Speaker 1: He got pulled, he couldn't throw off his back foot
- 5:48Speaker 1: or do anything like that. And Cole McCoy comes into
- 5:50Speaker 1: the game. He's been a backup, hasn't played a lot
- 5:53Speaker 1: of football, so they got things to play for. But
- 5:55Speaker 1: the Seahawks, I think, especially building off the last two
- 5:58Speaker 1: weeks with momentum that they had, should come out on
- 6:01Speaker 1: top and handle it. This defense looks different, This offense
- 6:05Speaker 1: looks different, a little more run oriented. Arm are taking
- 6:10Speaker 1: your time down the field when it comes to this offense,
- 6:11Speaker 1: this defense let's explosive. Jamal Adams is getting after him,
- 6:15Speaker 1: Dunlap is getting after him, and this defense is number
- 6:18Speaker 1: three against the run. So there's something that they can
- 6:20Speaker 1: hold on too, right there. Now, let's get to know
- 6:22Speaker 1: these two teams. Know your history, No, your history all right,
- 6:28Speaker 1: So these teams don't play a ton. But the series
- 6:30Speaker 1: record all time is nine and nine, with the Seahawks
- 6:33Speaker 1: winning the last four matchups. Last two times or last
- 6:36Speaker 1: time these two met, the Seahawks pulled out a twenty
- 6:38Speaker 1: four to seven victory in the Meadowlands in twenty seventeen.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Dominating performance by the Seahawk defense, but Russell Wilson is
- 6:44Speaker 1: one who came out and sold the show. Was twenty
- 6:46Speaker 1: seven for thirty nine for three hundred and thirty four
- 6:49Speaker 1: yards in three touchdowns. Doug Ballbin also had a great
- 6:52Speaker 1: game with nine receptions for ninety two yards in a
- 6:54Speaker 1: tud but interestingly enough, bump in that game on the
- 6:58Speaker 1: defensive line leading them into tackles. Damon Snacks Harrison he
- 7:02Speaker 1: had seven tackles and one TfL in the game. So
- 7:06Speaker 1: Damon Snacks going against his former team, and honestly, yes,
- 7:09Speaker 1: he came from Detroit, but Snacks became an All Pro
- 7:12Speaker 1: in the good football player that office know him by
- 7:14Speaker 1: in the Giants uniform, so it'll be cool for him
- 7:17Speaker 1: to go up against his old team. Well, now he's
- 7:20Speaker 1: playing for the good guys, so we can we canna
- 7:21Speaker 1: expect Hiven bigger numbers now, right, he has seven tackles.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna give him nine. Yeah, one tagle Flo, I'm
- 7:26Speaker 1: gonna give him two. Snacks is gonna step his game
- 7:29Speaker 1: up against his former boys. Let's take a look at
- 7:32Speaker 1: the NFC West. What's the word in the West? And
- 7:38Speaker 1: the Seahawks w the NFC West champs again? What's the
- 7:42Speaker 1: word in the West? On Hawk Talk, I'll tell you
- 7:48Speaker 1: what the word is. The Hawks are sitting on top
- 7:50Speaker 1: of the division at eight and three. The rounds right
- 7:52Speaker 1: behind him at seven and four. Cardinal six and five
- 7:55Speaker 1: in San Francisco, if they probably won't make the playoffs,
- 7:57Speaker 1: but they are still in the hunt at five six
- 8:00Speaker 1: and this was a crazy weekend for the Seattle Seahawks.
- 8:03Speaker 1: So Cardinals lose to the Patriots, lose to the Patriots.
- 8:08Speaker 1: They got their run game going again. They had about
- 8:10Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty yards one hundred and sixty yards rushing.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Drake had two touchdowns. They fixed that. But I'm looking
- 8:16Speaker 1: at Kyler Murray and I think teams are starting to
- 8:18Speaker 1: figure it out. They're starting to figure it out. He's
- 8:21Speaker 1: not able to get outside of the pocket like he's
- 8:22Speaker 1: used to doing, and they're starting to bliss him. He's
- 8:25Speaker 1: being blitzed thirty nine percent of the time. They're one
- 8:27Speaker 1: of three last four games before that being blitzed seventeen
- 8:30Speaker 1: percent of the time, and they're balling. So Kyler Murray
- 8:33Speaker 1: is in a place where Russell was maybe a few
- 8:35Speaker 1: weeks ago to where you're starting to get different looks
- 8:37Speaker 1: on defense against defenses, and you have to try to
- 8:40Speaker 1: figure it out. In Cam Newton, I'm a Cam Newton support.
- 8:45Speaker 1: As long as he ain't playing the Hawks, I want
- 8:47Speaker 1: to see Cam Newton has some success. Finally, he came
- 8:50Speaker 1: through with a big run on third down to kind
- 8:52Speaker 1: of extend that drive. Got a penalty, got hit late,
- 8:55Speaker 1: which I don't think it was a late hit. I
- 8:56Speaker 1: don't think it's a dirty hip, but they called a
- 8:58Speaker 1: penalty for him. He was stepping out balance. He got
- 9:00Speaker 1: hit by the rookie linebacker. They put them away with
- 9:03Speaker 1: the field goal. I wasn't expecting New Winglands to get
- 9:06Speaker 1: it done. No, I wasn't at all, and quite frankly,
- 9:09Speaker 1: especially just the way they're playing, and they didn't play
- 9:12Speaker 1: well offensively. I mean, like you mentioned being a Cam
- 9:15Speaker 1: Newton supporter, and I am too. It just looks rough.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Every single yard is hard to get and like and
- 9:22Speaker 1: I don't know if Cam is still hurt or it's
- 9:24Speaker 1: just because they have zero offensive weapons in terms of
- 9:26Speaker 1: the outside, but I mean it's it's painful. I mean,
- 9:29Speaker 1: this is like the second week in a row. May
- 9:31Speaker 1: I think maybe the third or fourth time all year
- 9:33Speaker 1: that Cam Newton hasn't thrown for a hundred yards. I mean,
- 9:36Speaker 1: this man was a former league MVP, So I don't
- 9:39Speaker 1: know if it's Cam being hurt. I don't know if
- 9:41Speaker 1: it's a lack of weapons on offense. I don't know
- 9:43Speaker 1: if it's Bill Belichick on it was Josh McDaniels. But
- 9:46Speaker 1: something is not right over there. With that being said,
- 9:49Speaker 1: he did just enough, so there's a little redemption. Like
- 9:51Speaker 1: I said, I thought they were trying to run the
- 9:53Speaker 1: clock out of third and thirteen. He saw Hiow scrambles
- 9:55Speaker 1: with the first down, gets hit out of bounds, Tiki
- 9:57Speaker 1: tach call. Obviously, if you're Seahawks fan, you enjoy that
- 10:00Speaker 1: because that set up the game winning field goal. And
- 10:03Speaker 1: you mentioned about Kyler Murray. So is this them getting
- 10:08Speaker 1: figured this Kyler Murray being figured out, or is this
- 10:11Speaker 1: Cliff Kingsbury being figured out with the offense he's trying
- 10:13Speaker 1: to bring from Texas Tech to fit Kyler Murrays. This
- 10:16Speaker 1: more of a scheme offensive coordinating issue or just more
- 10:19Speaker 1: of a Kyler Murray issue. Man, that's the good question.
- 10:22Speaker 1: It has to be a little bit of both, right,
- 10:23Speaker 1: because players have their tendencies, and we know that any
- 10:27Speaker 1: type of pressure, Kyler Murray wants to get outside, scurry
- 10:29Speaker 1: up the field, get to the sideline, so teams are
- 10:31Speaker 1: game planning for that. But then also the film is
- 10:34Speaker 1: out on Kingsbury. Just like the Hawks have to adjust
- 10:37Speaker 1: mids season, they have to make their adjustments as well.
- 10:39Speaker 1: And I think Kisbury's he's a good coach. He understands
- 10:41Speaker 1: the offense and how to get guys open. But this
- 10:44Speaker 1: is the NFL. You're not just gonna overpower guys, so
- 10:46Speaker 1: you've got more talent. You have to really scheme for this.
- 10:49Speaker 1: And also, Hopkins second week in a row five catches
- 10:53Speaker 1: fifty yards. If that man isn't getting at least nineteen
- 10:56Speaker 1: targets ten catches on a hundred yards, this offense is
- 10:58Speaker 1: not gonna go for the errors on the Cardinals. When
- 11:01Speaker 1: I saw that stat, I'm thinking something's wrong. And we
- 11:03Speaker 1: all know against the Hawks, Kyler had a shoulder thing going.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Is that effecting his game? Is that making him hesitant
- 11:09Speaker 1: to run? I'm not sure, but there are some things
- 11:11Speaker 1: going on that they have to figure out. Yeah, no
- 11:12Speaker 1: question about it. I mean he was containing on the
- 11:14Speaker 1: ground again, he only on thirty one rush yards and
- 11:16Speaker 1: this guy came in leading all quarterbacks by a big margin.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I was wondering if he was going to rush for
- 11:20Speaker 1: a thousand yards. That's the clip he was on before
- 11:22Speaker 1: the Seahawks game. So maybe he's hurt, maybe he's not.
- 11:26Speaker 1: They're struggling right now. I mean, if you take out
- 11:28Speaker 1: that Hail Mary to Hopkins, they've lost three in a row,
- 11:30Speaker 1: so they're not playing good football. So they fall down
- 11:34Speaker 1: there now. The other game rams in forty nine ers.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I met with my dad and my sister earlier that day.
- 11:41Speaker 1: We went on a walk just talking about football, and
- 11:44Speaker 1: the game was starting up and I was like, well,
- 11:46Speaker 1: the Rams are gonna win that one. I mean, the Niners,
- 11:48Speaker 1: They're they're gonna give him a good, good effort, but
- 11:51Speaker 1: there's no way they win that game. And I start
- 11:53Speaker 1: falling along, and my god, man, this game was sloppy.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Seven turnovers by both teams. Both teams also scored defensive touchdowns.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Robbie Goldkay the game winning field goals time expired to
- 12:03Speaker 1: end the forty nine Ers three game losing streak. But
- 12:06Speaker 1: my goodness, man, Jared Goff, We've talked about this man
- 12:09Speaker 1: a lot, and Sunday, this previous Sunday was a Jared
- 12:14Speaker 1: Goff where he looks like a bottom five quarterback. Nineteen
- 12:17Speaker 1: to thirty one, one hundred nine eight yards, two interceptions,
- 12:20Speaker 1: and also lost a fumble. And it's just again, I
- 12:23Speaker 1: just will never understand it how he can look so
- 12:26Speaker 1: good some weeks in so bad in other weeks. And honestly,
- 12:29Speaker 1: I think he's the key to the Rams period. The
- 12:31Speaker 1: Rams go as Jared Goff goes, yep, exactly. And finally
- 12:35Speaker 1: we're starting to hear some criticism from his offensive coordinated slash.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Head coach McVay said, our quarterback has to has to
- 12:43Speaker 1: take care of the football. And we've been saying that
- 12:45Speaker 1: for one a couple of years. Now he's got to
- 12:47Speaker 1: take care of the football. There was an interception he
- 12:49Speaker 1: threw to Richard Sherman. It looks like he was throwing
- 12:51Speaker 1: get too Richard Sherman. Yes, like there was nobody around.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I think there was a tight end leaking to the sideline,
- 12:57Speaker 1: but it just didn't look confident. Now here's a positive
- 13:00Speaker 1: if for the rounds, they might have something in this
- 13:02Speaker 1: kid Anchors the running back. They got three running backs
- 13:04Speaker 1: over there who can get it done. To get Anchors.
- 13:06Speaker 1: They got Henderson to have Malcolm Brown. That should be
- 13:08Speaker 1: their formula. Also, Cooper Cup has to scored a touchdown
- 13:11Speaker 1: in six seven games. Get this man the football. I
- 13:14Speaker 1: understand their scheme that's involved with that, but your end
- 13:17Speaker 1: of the day, your quarterback has to make the right decisions.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I'm not seeing that out of Jared Goff. Here's my
- 13:23Speaker 1: question to you, and ask who you take Jared Goff
- 13:26Speaker 1: or Carson Wentz. Oh, that's a tough question. I can't believe.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Like my initial gut reaction was was Jared Goff. But
- 13:40Speaker 1: I don't feel comfortable saying that. I don't know, man,
- 13:43Speaker 1: because the Carson Wentz that we saw twenty seventeen seems
- 13:46Speaker 1: like ten years ago. It's like, I don't even recognize
- 13:48Speaker 1: that guy as of right now. At least at least
- 13:52Speaker 1: Jared goffed his upside. I feel like can be really
- 13:56Speaker 1: good right now with went titis looks broken. So that's
- 14:00Speaker 1: a good question, Bump. But what I do know about
- 14:01Speaker 1: the Rams. The last thing I'll say about them is
- 14:04Speaker 1: I don't care how they looked the week before. I
- 14:06Speaker 1: don't care if Jared Goff throws ten interceptions this week
- 14:09Speaker 1: against the Cardinals. When they play the Seahawks again, we're
- 14:13Speaker 1: gonna get their best effort in that game is gonna
- 14:15Speaker 1: come down to the wire. That's just always how it goes.
- 14:18Speaker 1: You already know, you already know what the West is
- 14:20Speaker 1: getting wild And on Sunday the Rams and Cardinals square
- 14:23Speaker 1: off in a huge NFC West matchup. We will be
- 14:26Speaker 1: glued to that game scene when what's happening? Now, let's
- 14:29Speaker 1: check out these matchups? Man up? Is this this man up?
- 14:40Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk? Man up? Will We usually start with
- 14:43Speaker 1: the quarterback, and we're gonna start with the quarterback for
- 14:45Speaker 1: the New York Football Giants. Don't think it's gonna be
- 14:48Speaker 1: Daniel Jones unless he's got some crazy um healing power
- 14:52Speaker 1: to that hamstring. We don't think we're gonna see him. Um.
- 14:55Speaker 1: We think we're probably gonna see Courte McCoy taking snaps
- 14:58Speaker 1: for the Giants. Now, Yeah, for those out there wondering,
- 15:01Speaker 1: Colt McCoy is still a quarterback in the National Football League.
- 15:06Speaker 1: For Daniel Jones, has been a while. Not a commentator yet.
- 15:09Speaker 1: You think he'd be a commentator by now, right, quarterbacks man,
- 15:12Speaker 1: no man, So he's stepped in for Dana Jones. He's
- 15:14Speaker 1: thirty four years old, eleventh professional season. It's been a
- 15:18Speaker 1: while for him. Man, He's got seven starts in nine years.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Hasn't really been a starting quarterback since twenty eleven. You know,
- 15:26Speaker 1: he's appeared in just twenty games since then, starting only seven.
- 15:29Speaker 1: But Joe Judge talked to the media in New York
- 15:32Speaker 1: this week about his confidence level if Colton McCoy has
- 15:35Speaker 1: to play on Sunday, I have a lot of confidence
- 15:38Speaker 1: in cold. Let me tell you what. The way this
- 15:39Speaker 1: guy comes to work every day and prepares and then
- 15:42Speaker 1: every chance he gets on the field to compete. But
- 15:44Speaker 1: I've been able to play again or coach against this guy.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Now he's with us. Right now, you get to see
- 15:48Speaker 1: how competitive this guy is. He's got a lot of instincts,
- 15:51Speaker 1: a lot of savvy draws on his experience. He's a
- 15:53Speaker 1: tough dude. He's mentally tough, he's physically tough. You know,
- 15:56Speaker 1: he's a guy that's very well respected on this team.
- 15:58Speaker 1: In the locker room, on the field, the guys really
- 16:00Speaker 1: like Colby rally around him just like a d Daniel.
- 16:03Speaker 1: You know, he's a guy that puts a lot of
- 16:05Speaker 1: confidence in the players in the huddle. I always talk about,
- 16:07Speaker 1: you know, you want a quarterbackers will step in the
- 16:09Speaker 1: huddle of ten sets of eyes looking. I have known
- 16:11Speaker 1: that this guy's got to give him the answer, and
- 16:13Speaker 1: I think, cold sat guy. So of course your head
- 16:16Speaker 1: coach with a backup quarterback stepping in is gonna have
- 16:18Speaker 1: his back. He's gonna say, you have all the confidence
- 16:20Speaker 1: in the world. We know what he can do. You
- 16:23Speaker 1: got to speak it into existence, right, So Cold McCoy,
- 16:25Speaker 1: this how long it's Ben? He hasn't won a game
- 16:27Speaker 1: and starting quarterback since October twenty seventh of twenty fourteen
- 16:30Speaker 1: against Tony Romo and the Cowboys in overtime. He did
- 16:33Speaker 1: start a game last year for the Giants. He went
- 16:36Speaker 1: eighteen for twenty seven one hundred and twenty two yards,
- 16:39Speaker 1: zero touchdowns, one interception in with sacks six times in
- 16:42Speaker 1: a blowout loss. So if you're the Seahawks defense, man,
- 16:47Speaker 1: I think you're licking your chops in your ready rock man,
- 16:49Speaker 1: because you need to force turnovers, and especially after what
- 16:52Speaker 1: we did to Carson once last week. I mean, this
- 16:54Speaker 1: is a game where I feel like we make a
- 16:57Speaker 1: jump in the defensive categories this week. Better make a
- 17:02Speaker 1: jump then, Judge man, I appreciate you trying to hype
- 17:04Speaker 1: up your quarterback, but there's a reason why he's only
- 17:06Speaker 1: started seven games. He's been in the league at eleven years,
- 17:10Speaker 1: seven games appeared in twenty No disrespect to Cole. You're
- 17:13Speaker 1: making way more money than me holding the clipboard. But
- 17:15Speaker 1: I don't think he's the guy. And if he comes
- 17:19Speaker 1: out and performs great, then I'd be surprised, and I
- 17:23Speaker 1: would say that this defense has some other issues they
- 17:27Speaker 1: need to work through. In regards of the Seattle Seahawks,
- 17:29Speaker 1: I just don't see it happening. But I can never
- 17:32Speaker 1: hate on a man who's been collecting checks in the
- 17:34Speaker 1: league for eleven years. I mean, good for you, good
- 17:36Speaker 1: for you, Colton McCoy. But Seahawks are about to get
- 17:39Speaker 1: at him all right. Next match of Russell Wilson verse
- 17:42Speaker 1: the Giants defense. Russell has thirty two hundred and sixteen yards,
- 17:45Speaker 1: thirty one touchdowns, ten interceptions, but two straight games with
- 17:49Speaker 1: no turnovers, and that's what I think we should focus
- 17:53Speaker 1: on him. He's taking care of the fullball. He has
- 17:55Speaker 1: a run game that's gonna help him now, and I
- 17:57Speaker 1: think he's settled down. He's understands that there are gonna
- 18:00Speaker 1: be times where he has to take the game over him,
- 18:03Speaker 1: but at this point of the season, he doesn't have to.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Right now, it's just put points on the board, take
- 18:08Speaker 1: care of the football, and just survive. There are no
- 18:10Speaker 1: style points. People are like asking for Russell Wilson to
- 18:13Speaker 1: get back to four or five touchdowns and we need
- 18:15Speaker 1: to blow guys out. I don't care about the blowout.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I understand it's stressful. I understand it's it's not fun
- 18:21Speaker 1: watching a team throw a hell Mary at the end
- 18:22Speaker 1: of the game and put an extra seven on the board.
- 18:25Speaker 1: But I also know that it's a marathon and they're
- 18:27Speaker 1: eight and three and Russell has has gotten back to
- 18:30Speaker 1: his responsible self by taking care of the football. So
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm i with how he's playing. Oh, no question about it,
- 18:35Speaker 1: because it's like you said, this isn't this isn't the
- 18:38Speaker 1: year two thousand and four, and we're hoping to get
- 18:40Speaker 1: into the BCS like it doesn't matter. Yes, four and
- 18:43Speaker 1: five touchdowns was great. We all loved it. We all
- 18:46Speaker 1: love let Russ cook. We all loved the MVP talk
- 18:49Speaker 1: each and every single week. But like I said, like
- 18:51Speaker 1: you said, I think in our last podcast, it's kind
- 18:54Speaker 1: of nice that we're not so concerned and focus about
- 18:57Speaker 1: the MVP and Russell is just doing what he has
- 18:58Speaker 1: to do to get this team in games. And by
- 19:01Speaker 1: no means is he just managing the game. He's still
- 19:03Speaker 1: making all the plays and all the throws and all
- 19:04Speaker 1: the decisions, all the protections, all that stuff. Russ is
- 19:07Speaker 1: still doing it and doing it at high level. But
- 19:09Speaker 1: now we're just getting what we have to get done.
- 19:11Speaker 1: We're getting ourselves in the best position to win. We're
- 19:13Speaker 1: getting our running backs back and our running game is
- 19:15Speaker 1: starting to show up. So love how Russ is playing
- 19:19Speaker 1: the Giants. If you're gonna give them strength, it's their defense.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Like we mentioned earlier, they're only allowing twenty three points
- 19:24Speaker 1: a game. They're okay against the pass two hundred forty
- 19:27Speaker 1: five pass yards a game. But all that being said,
- 19:32Speaker 1: Russell only has three touchdown passes in three weeks. So
- 19:39Speaker 1: I'm just saying I feel like he's due for a
- 19:42Speaker 1: big game. I'm not saying we need him four hundred
- 19:44Speaker 1: yards and five touchdowns, but I could see him going off,
- 19:47Speaker 1: especially because I don't know anyone in a Giants uniform
- 19:52Speaker 1: that is going to match up with DK Metcalf or
- 19:55Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett. So I could see them having a big game.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I am you there. The next matchup Giants receiving Corps
- 20:03Speaker 1: verse Seahawks secondary, and no one really jumps off the
- 20:06Speaker 1: page when you look at the stats and even look
- 20:08Speaker 1: at the film, no one really, No one does anything
- 20:10Speaker 1: for him. But do you have a guy in there
- 20:12Speaker 1: Slayton who has thirty eight receptions, five hundred eighty four
- 20:14Speaker 1: yards and three touchdowns. You and I talked before we
- 20:16Speaker 1: go out on the air here, Evan Ingram, it's probably
- 20:19Speaker 1: their best offensive rip forty four receptions he's a tight
- 20:22Speaker 1: end four hundred and seventy six yards and one touched him.
- 20:25Speaker 1: One thing I like about Ingram is that he's got
- 20:28Speaker 1: a little burst when the ball is in his hands, yep,
- 20:31Speaker 1: and he will go up and attack the football out
- 20:33Speaker 1: the air. If he was on any other football team,
- 20:36Speaker 1: any other any other football team outside of the NFC East,
- 20:39Speaker 1: he might be getting more loved than he's getting right now,
- 20:42Speaker 1: no question about I think he's a matchup nightmare. I
- 20:44Speaker 1: was watching the game shape against the Bengals this last Sunday,
- 20:48Speaker 1: and he's beating corners, he's beating quarters on deep balls,
- 20:51Speaker 1: he's getting inside. He's nice in his route running. And
- 20:55Speaker 1: if he's line up against him, if he's matched up
- 20:57Speaker 1: on a linebacker, that's typically a lost every single time.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I mean, Ingram is good. He's solid. Not that he's
- 21:03Speaker 1: not a world beater. He's not a George Kittle in
- 21:04Speaker 1: the run game, but he's gonna get it done. And
- 21:06Speaker 1: like we, like you mentioned, I do think he's their
- 21:08Speaker 1: best offensive weapons. He's definitely someone that the Seahawks defense,
- 21:12Speaker 1: if you're gonna focus on anybody, it's that man right there.
- 21:15Speaker 1: If Golden Tate, now Golden Tate players for the Giants
- 21:18Speaker 1: twenty ever sceptions, three hundred six yards, two touchdowns. If
- 21:21Speaker 1: the Twelves were in lumen Field Stadium, I'm sorry if
- 21:24Speaker 1: I'm jacking that uplum. What is the lumen Stadium field?
- 21:27Speaker 1: Louman Field? If the Twelves are in lumin Field, does
- 21:30Speaker 1: Golden Tate get a standing ovation? I think so. I
- 21:36Speaker 1: think it's a smattering. I think it's eighty twenty. I
- 21:38Speaker 1: think eighty percent years, maybe twenty percent booze, But I
- 21:41Speaker 1: mean Golden did a ton for this football team, obviously
- 21:45Speaker 1: helped bring us the only Super Bowl championship for this organization.
- 21:49Speaker 1: So much love for Golden Tate. I think, just because
- 21:52Speaker 1: it's football fans, there's gonna be some people that boo
- 21:55Speaker 1: he's not wearing the right uniform anymore. But it'll be
- 21:58Speaker 1: interesting to see because he's still a good football You
- 22:00Speaker 1: just don't really hear much about him. I know there's
- 22:01Speaker 1: a little friction in the Giants locker room. I think
- 22:05Speaker 1: at one point he wanted to get traded and talked
- 22:06Speaker 1: about that, apologize for that, and is still performing. So
- 22:09Speaker 1: it'll be interesting to see what he looks like on Sunday.
- 22:12Speaker 1: All right next matchup? Who you got, nass Wayne Gallman
- 22:16Speaker 1: running back. Yes, Seahawk fans for those listening out there,
- 22:19Speaker 1: Wayne Golman is they're starting running back. He's not say
- 22:22Speaker 1: Quon Barkley who went down in Week two with an injury,
- 22:25Speaker 1: or DeVonta Freeman, who you guys remember from the Falcons,
- 22:27Speaker 1: who also has been injured. But Wayne Gallman's is solid
- 22:30Speaker 1: running back. Okay, He's got ninety three carries for three
- 22:32Speaker 1: hundred and sixty nine yards and five rushing touchdowns. Daniel
- 22:36Speaker 1: Jones was leading the team at the quarterback position in rushing.
- 22:39Speaker 1: But Gallman's a good athlete. He's explosive, he's kind of elusive.
- 22:44Speaker 1: He's not the tough physical runner that like a Chris
- 22:47Speaker 1: Carson is. But he saw it, he saw it. He's
- 22:49Speaker 1: gonna get the job done. He can run in between
- 22:51Speaker 1: the tackles, he can get outside. And then Giants is
- 22:54Speaker 1: a team. They're kind of in the middle when it
- 22:56Speaker 1: comes with running the ball, averaging one hundred and thirteen
- 22:58Speaker 1: yards per game. So he's a guy that it's one
- 23:01Speaker 1: of those things where he can't go off. Obviously, he's
- 23:03Speaker 1: someone they need to contain and continue do a good
- 23:05Speaker 1: job stopping to run. But he's not someone that you
- 23:10Speaker 1: immediately circle and feel like you need to have an
- 23:12Speaker 1: extra meeting for it. In my opinion, I think he's
- 23:14Speaker 1: a solid dude. Yeah, should be respected, but nothing, nothing
- 23:18Speaker 1: over the top crazy. I think what scares me about
- 23:22Speaker 1: running backs in the NFL is that anyone's capable of
- 23:25Speaker 1: having a day. Right, we talk about Goldman and but
- 23:28Speaker 1: if if the gaps are there, if the lands are there,
- 23:31Speaker 1: if he's feeling good, he can have a day. So
- 23:33Speaker 1: they have to make sure that they make the Giants
- 23:36Speaker 1: who they are not a very good offensive football team,
- 23:40Speaker 1: and don't let guys that you don't really know about
- 23:42Speaker 1: go off by young man win all right? Next matchup,
- 23:46Speaker 1: DK metcat birds everybody on the Giants defenses. Dudeom had
- 23:52Speaker 1: ten catches one hundred and seventy seven yards in Week twelve.
- 23:54Speaker 1: He leaves the league with a thousand and thirty nine yards.
- 23:58Speaker 1: He has five games of at least one hundred receiving
- 24:01Speaker 1: yards this season, tied for the most in the league.
- 24:05Speaker 1: You called it, ass, you called it superstar in the making.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I'm just gonna say he's a superstar. Now it's facts. Now,
- 24:12Speaker 1: this dude has a thousand yards a second year in
- 24:14Speaker 1: the league. You look at his numbers two years compared
- 24:18Speaker 1: to Megatron, even good old Jerry, and there was one
- 24:23Speaker 1: other receiver anyway, you compare his first two years to
- 24:26Speaker 1: the greats. He's right up there throwing hands making a
- 24:29Speaker 1: case that he might be one of the best receivers
- 24:32Speaker 1: to play this game if he continues on the path
- 24:36Speaker 1: that he is on. Oh, no question about it. I
- 24:37Speaker 1: think he's on the path of being a perennial pro
- 24:40Speaker 1: bowler as well as an All Pro caliber guy. And
- 24:43Speaker 1: you look at it right now, and it's not even
- 24:45Speaker 1: like he's doing it in the way that others are
- 24:47Speaker 1: doing it. Like when you look at Hopkins, who my opinion,
- 24:50Speaker 1: is probably the best receiver in National Full League today.
- 24:53Speaker 1: If you had to pick up just number one, he
- 24:56Speaker 1: the volume apart from the last two weeks, the volume
- 24:58Speaker 1: of targets, and he has way different He has way
- 25:01Speaker 1: more targets than a DK Metcalf. You look at digs
- 25:04Speaker 1: in Buffalo, he has a lot more targets in Metcalf.
- 25:06Speaker 1: So DK is just doing it in big, explosive ways
- 25:10Speaker 1: and he's finding a different way to do it each
- 25:12Speaker 1: and every single week. So I think DC is creeping
- 25:13Speaker 1: in that conversation. If you're talking about top receivers in
- 25:16Speaker 1: the league, DK metcalf is in the top three, and
- 25:18Speaker 1: he continues to do it. And I don't know who
- 25:20Speaker 1: on the Giants is gonna be able to get in
- 25:21Speaker 1: front of him or stop him. The only person that's
- 25:24Speaker 1: had any chance sewing him down this year was Jalen Ramsey,
- 25:27Speaker 1: and we all know that has circled on everybody's calendar
- 25:30Speaker 1: for that matchup when it happens again. But DKs is
- 25:33Speaker 1: another dude man, and he's getting underdude's skin. Man. He
- 25:36Speaker 1: is making B's angry, and honestly, I feel it because
- 25:40Speaker 1: if I was a dB going against him, I would
- 25:42Speaker 1: be angry too. I'd mean they're trying to be getting
- 25:44Speaker 1: fiscal and when you think you have good coverage and
- 25:46Speaker 1: you get most, you get ran over. You can't get
- 25:48Speaker 1: off him in the run game. Yeah, you start getting
- 25:50Speaker 1: frustrated and start pushing. After the play, he started yelling,
- 25:52Speaker 1: start complaining to the referees. I mean, I get it,
- 25:55Speaker 1: and I understand why flags are getting thrown. DK makes
- 25:59Speaker 1: DB's insecure. It ain't gonna be me, Yeah, gonna do
- 26:02Speaker 1: that to me, Yes, he is. He's going to do
- 26:04Speaker 1: that to only one man that's been able to contain
- 26:06Speaker 1: him a bid so far, Like you mentioned, that is
- 26:08Speaker 1: Jalen Ramsey. And now because DK has been having such
- 26:11Speaker 1: a great season, it's time for number sixteen. I feel
- 26:14Speaker 1: like sixteen Tyler Lockett is gonna have a day this weekend.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Now let's talk about how are you gonna get this debut?
- 26:21Speaker 1: The path to victory? After forty five waits for the staff,
- 26:26Speaker 1: Michael Vickson puts it down. That kick is away. If
- 26:29Speaker 1: that kick gone, it's gone. It's a path to victory.
- 26:35Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk, how will the Seahawks improve to nine
- 26:39Speaker 1: and three in the wind Calm, I'll tell you. Take
- 26:42Speaker 1: care of the teams you're supposed to be. First thing
- 26:44Speaker 1: you need to do. Make Colte McCoy look like a
- 26:47Speaker 1: backup quarterback. It's someone who hasn't really played in almost
- 26:50Speaker 1: a decade as a starting quarterback in this league. He
- 26:53Speaker 1: is someone who obviously no disrespect to him. He's been
- 26:55Speaker 1: in the league for this long for a reason, but
- 26:58Speaker 1: he's not the starting quarterback. You have another guy in there,
- 27:00Speaker 1: you're playing well defensively. You need to make it look
- 27:02Speaker 1: that way. You need to get after him in the
- 27:04Speaker 1: pass rush, you need to create turnover, you need to
- 27:05Speaker 1: do all those things. So just just show up, man
- 27:09Speaker 1: don't don't let him come out there and throw for
- 27:11Speaker 1: three hundred yards and bring up all those questions about
- 27:13Speaker 1: where we are as a defense. The defense is training
- 27:15Speaker 1: in the right direction, so let's keep it up and
- 27:17Speaker 1: make it look like that they're trending in the right direction.
- 27:20Speaker 1: I was watching sports Center Ryan clarks as they're the
- 27:22Speaker 1: hottest defense in the league right now. So let's keep
- 27:26Speaker 1: that rolling. And like you mentioned, turnovers, one turnover. Last
- 27:30Speaker 1: week against Carson Wentz, Diggs had the interceptions and third
- 27:33Speaker 1: interception of the year in the end zone. We need
- 27:35Speaker 1: more of that. We need Colton mccore to be confused.
- 27:37Speaker 1: We need him to feel like he is a backup
- 27:40Speaker 1: a quarterback and things are happening really fast. For him
- 27:42Speaker 1: to get pressure on him, make him turn the football over.
- 27:45Speaker 1: And then if you get another opportunity like at that Diggs,
- 27:48Speaker 1: take it out the end zone. Get your head read on.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Let's take that thing one hundred and two. Let's go.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Come on, man hey, and you hear this from every
- 27:54Speaker 1: coach out there, alignment, assignment, key finish right. This game
- 28:00Speaker 1: one that the Seahawks need to dominate defensively, and it's
- 28:03Speaker 1: not even just win the way they started the game
- 28:05Speaker 1: against the Eagles, that was the game they need to
- 28:07Speaker 1: dominate and they started the game with five three owns.
- 28:09Speaker 1: The Seahawks defense needs do that same thing again and
- 28:11Speaker 1: it just starts a little thing. Get lined up right,
- 28:13Speaker 1: do your assignment, do your job, and keep it up.
- 28:16Speaker 1: And right now they're playing good. I mean, it's fun
- 28:18Speaker 1: watching them. Last week was fun watching Jamal Adams and
- 28:21Speaker 1: digs and you can just feel the energy. Bobby Wagner,
- 28:24Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks, everyone is flying around and they look like
- 28:26Speaker 1: they're having fun. So they need to keep that up.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Keep that up, and get Chris Carson going. He had
- 28:32Speaker 1: eight to ten ten carries last week, forty one yards
- 28:35Speaker 1: in a touchdown, and that was this warm up game.
- 28:37Speaker 1: That was Okay, let's see how you feel, let's see
- 28:39Speaker 1: what you got. He looked healthy to me. There was
- 28:41Speaker 1: a burst that I haven't seen out of any other
- 28:43Speaker 1: running back in the backfield for the Seahawks this year.
- 28:46Speaker 1: So get him going eighteen to twenty touches. I'm with that.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Maybe three to four receptions. I'm with that as well.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Get into the red zone, finish the drives. The Hawks
- 28:55Speaker 1: are one of the best in the red zone to
- 28:56Speaker 1: start the season. I think there's somewhere still near the
- 28:59Speaker 1: top half of the league. We'll get back to doing
- 29:01Speaker 1: what you do, no question about it. And then you
- 29:03Speaker 1: just mentioned in the last segment, Tyler Lockett needs to
- 29:06Speaker 1: be involved more offensively. He's been quiet for the last
- 29:09Speaker 1: couple of weeks, and he's just too good and too
- 29:12Speaker 1: important to what we do. Obviously, we know teams are
- 29:15Speaker 1: scheming and trying to figure out to take things away,
- 29:17Speaker 1: to take away those deep crosses, to take away some
- 29:19Speaker 1: of Tyler's favorite routes, but we need to find a
- 29:22Speaker 1: way to get him the ball has to make us
- 29:24Speaker 1: that much better. The same with Will Disley, man with
- 29:26Speaker 1: Greg Olsen going down. We know Jake Hollister has been
- 29:31Speaker 1: doing a good job. He's one of Russell's favorite targets
- 29:33Speaker 1: in the tight end room. But Will Disley, we know
- 29:35Speaker 1: what he can do in the first two years in
- 29:36Speaker 1: this league. We need to get him more involved in
