- 2:09Speaker 5: go around the horn.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Let's go around the horn. Yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 7: I'm Candice Martin and I am a PR person for
- 2:15Speaker 7: celebrity chefs. I represent everybody from Bobby Flay to Inina
- 2:20Speaker 7: Garden and of course Emerald Legassi. If there's somebody cooking,
- 2:26Speaker 7: I'm representing them.
- 2:28Speaker 3: What's up? I'm Toby Tobyson, and I represent bad girls
- 2:33Speaker 3: and bad boys, specifically bad girls and bad boys of Hollywood.
- 2:37Speaker 3: That's it's a lot.
- 2:40Speaker 6: Hey, how's it going. My name is Megan Scoops of
- 2:44Speaker 6: Scoops Shoops Incorporated, and I rep I love the Disney
- 2:49Speaker 6: darlings that you may have seen past, present and future.
- 2:52Speaker 6: I'm not going to use Inndaya.
- 2:54Speaker 4: The Scoops is here, legendary. Can't believe the Scoops. I
- 2:59Speaker 4: am DJ Mark and I rep blankets and different betting products.
- 3:05Speaker 4: I used to work through the Bath and Beyond and
- 3:11Speaker 4: now I am on my own.
- 3:14Speaker 3: That's awesome, so cool.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Well, what's up, guys? Last, but certainly least to be
- 3:20Speaker 5: honest with you. I know I'm the worst one here.
- 3:23Speaker 5: My name is Marvin Wahlberg. I am the publicist and
- 3:28Speaker 5: head publicist of Page one Rewrite Publicity. I handle authors
- 3:34Speaker 5: and I also handle screenwriters. Mostly the people who don't
- 3:38Speaker 5: want to be on camera. Boo boring. They suck boring.
- 3:44Speaker 5: It's fun to be around people who are representing cool
- 3:47Speaker 5: people like teen stars and blankets.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I'll say it's just cool to be a
- 3:52Speaker 3: brown people that get the industry. You know, even though
- 3:54Speaker 3: we're all such in a wide field, like we all
- 3:56Speaker 3: get the fundamental thing of whatever our thing is. We
- 3:59Speaker 3: got to get it out there, you know. We gotta
- 4:02Speaker 3: and we got to put out fires. You know, that's
- 4:04Speaker 3: our jobs. We're kind of the first line of defense
- 4:06Speaker 3: and putting.
- 4:08Speaker 7: Out fires, fires, fires, fires, fires all day. I'll tell
- 4:11Speaker 7: you why you've never heard a single bad thing about
- 4:13Speaker 7: in a garden. It's because I'm keeping the secrets from you.
- 4:16Speaker 7: That's It's because that's controlled.
- 4:18Speaker 8: Okay, just give us one, you know what tat Okay,
- 4:25Speaker 8: if you give me a little celebrity gospel, will delete
- 4:28Speaker 8: this obviously.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Okay, let's try love to make PR messy today.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Let's make PR messy. You know, I'll be honest. We've
- 4:37Speaker 2: had a couple of drinks.
- 4:38Speaker 7: I think I'm ready to spill some secrets and to
- 4:40Speaker 7: be completely honest, Ana is I. I recently caught her,
- 4:45Speaker 7: you know, on the phone through the grape vine, speaking
- 4:48Speaker 7: about how she would like to get a new PR person.
- 4:51Speaker 2: So I don't think I mind giving.
- 4:52Speaker 6: You a couple.
- 4:54Speaker 7: So was sort of caught bullying a ski instruct her.
- 5:02Speaker 7: She was in Mammoth with her family.
- 5:05Speaker 6: And uh, gorgeous slopes.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Love which we love for her and this ski guy.
- 5:13Speaker 7: No, So that was the problem, Like this ski instructor
- 5:16Speaker 7: was trying to help her, and you know, if you know, Ana,
- 5:19Speaker 7: nobody tells I know what to do. Okay, nobody tells
- 5:23Speaker 7: I know what to do. And so she immediately snapped
- 5:26Speaker 7: back and threatened to, you know, push him down a mountain.
- 5:31Speaker 7: Find out whose kids are all like really malicious, sort
- 5:34Speaker 7: of evil type stuff.
- 5:36Speaker 2: So that was a fire I had to put out.
- 5:37Speaker 7: I got a call from Mammoth and I rushed over.
- 5:41Speaker 6: Where was she staying in Mammoth?
- 5:44Speaker 2: So she was in that she was in the big
- 5:46Speaker 2: Foot Lodge.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Blankets some blankets there?
- 5:52Speaker 6: Do you wrap it?
- 5:52Speaker 2: The Bigfoot Lodge.
- 5:54Speaker 4: A bunch of a bunch of sheets and stuff?
- 5:58Speaker 5: Individual sheets? You wrap individual? No?
- 6:00Speaker 4: I read the sheet companies that the hotels buy from. Okay, okay, yeah, yeah,
- 6:05Speaker 4: and I and and when hotels take pictures of the
- 6:08Speaker 4: bedding that's dealing with the property of the sheets, then
- 6:11Speaker 4: it goes to me because it's of all print. It's
- 6:13Speaker 4: a whole thing. Somebody say I'm an agent, but I
- 6:16Speaker 4: am not. I am actually just a publicist.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Yeah, totally.
- 6:20Speaker 4: And I want to be really clear on the sank
- 6:22Speaker 4: you so much.
- 6:22Speaker 7: Yeah, there's a difference anyway, continue to continue anyway. That well,
- 6:27Speaker 7: that I mean, that's basically it. I have more, but
- 6:30Speaker 7: I don't want to get sued. Marvin, I gave you one.
- 6:34Speaker 4: You gotta show me your trouble.
- 6:37Speaker 5: He gave you the tin. I'll give you the tat.
- 6:39Speaker 5: We've had a couple of drinks, right, three, four or
- 6:41Speaker 5: five drinks we all have here. We've had a couple
- 6:44Speaker 5: of drinks, right, you know. We we stopped by the
- 6:47Speaker 5: Ivy before this and just had some cocktails and seafood.
- 6:50Speaker 5: So we're chatting. Uh, yeah, I'll tell you something. Dan
- 6:54Speaker 5: Brown is uh. He has several family that he has
- 7:01Speaker 5: not disclosed to the world.
- 7:04Speaker 3: They know a lot of sense for angels and demons.
- 7:07Speaker 5: They don't know each other. The angels and demons. Yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 5: angels and demons. The demons are you know. His insatiable
- 7:13Speaker 5: urge too. He chronic. I think he has an addiction
- 7:15Speaker 5: to starting families, which is what's crazy about it. He
- 7:18Speaker 5: likes the idea. He doesn't have just these rogue children
- 7:21Speaker 5: that he has. Right, it's not that I've got someone
- 7:23Speaker 5: pregnant on a whim. He starts the family, he marries them.
- 7:27Speaker 7: It's the marriage instinct to continue to marry.
- 7:32Speaker 5: They do the showers, they do everything, they do the wedding,
- 7:34Speaker 5: they invite all, you know, the bride's friends, and then
- 7:37Speaker 5: he disappears and he goes and he starts over.
- 7:39Speaker 6: You do notice the pattern of when he sort of
- 7:41Speaker 6: tires of the family, what compels him to start a
- 7:44Speaker 6: new one.
- 7:45Speaker 5: Yeah, it's when the child is exactly one year old.
- 7:47Speaker 5: There's something about the child being a baby.
- 7:51Speaker 6: Well, they're stupid after that, so I.
- 7:53Speaker 5: Guess that's what it is. They're no longer innocent. We
- 7:56Speaker 5: can all agree. Year one is the age of innocence.
- 7:59Speaker 6: Right right after that, give it to the nanny.
- 8:03Speaker 7: After that, I can't sell like any of us can
- 8:05Speaker 7: represent a baby, no problem. That's when they start saying sentences.
- 8:11Speaker 7: And you know what we say in the pr industry,
- 8:12Speaker 7: Once you start saying sentences, you're already losing.
- 8:16Speaker 6: Always saying that, always saying.
- 8:19Speaker 5: That, I think I learned it from you. Actually, yeah, it's.
- 8:22Speaker 7: One of those quota day calendars that we we really
- 8:25Speaker 7: love to float around here. But Megan, I am dying
- 8:27Speaker 7: to know about these Disney darlings.
- 8:32Speaker 6: Scoop, scoop you want, you want scoop to give the scoop.
- 8:35Speaker 6: I am getting a call. Let me just take this
- 8:37Speaker 6: really quick.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Go ahead?
- 8:38Speaker 6: Uh huh Fire Island? Yeah yeah, no Chutney, Okay, perfect, Thanks. Sorry,
- 8:46Speaker 6: this is my husband, so you guys.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Want to know. He just wanted to know about Fire Island.
- 8:52Speaker 6: Yeah. We are trying to re spark. We're trying to
- 8:56Speaker 6: keep the love alive because it it went away a
- 8:58Speaker 6: long time ago.
- 9:00Speaker 5: So you're going to island? Did he suggest?
- 9:03Speaker 4: I thought?
- 9:04Speaker 6: I thought, well, you know, it's very popular among the
- 9:07Speaker 6: gay population, and I thought we could use something more interesting.
- 9:12Speaker 6: He is a straight white man, and I thought, learn,
- 9:17Speaker 6: you know, and I'm trying to sort of push him
- 9:19Speaker 6: away from that.
- 9:20Speaker 3: So I thought it was and the gay population is
- 9:23Speaker 3: going to guzzle him up.
- 9:24Speaker 6: I'm sure, Oh my god, I mean, you're gorgeous, man.
- 9:27Speaker 6: They're gorgeous man.
- 9:30Speaker 7: Very likely being gay is very on trend for heterosexuals
- 9:35Speaker 7: right now, and.
- 9:35Speaker 5: It's a great and I wish I could find a
- 9:38Speaker 5: gay author. I just can't. I want to wrap a
- 9:40Speaker 5: gay author.
- 9:42Speaker 4: God, and would have been dying to find a gay
- 9:45Speaker 4: blanket designer to wrap, dying because or just to get
- 9:50Speaker 4: them to, you know, come out while I'm wrapping them.
- 9:54Speaker 6: That'd be huge, that'd be huge for you. Yeah. Yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 6: Well I could give you a little bit of scoop.
- 10:00Speaker 3: We went a little bit of that, Meganze.
- 10:04Speaker 5: We've all watched it on the TV Guide network. By
- 10:06Speaker 5: the way, we scoops.
- 10:08Speaker 6: You better not. I love that title.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I can't believe I got to hear you do it live.
- 10:13Speaker 2: That's incredible.
- 10:16Speaker 5: Means what does that means? Scoop scoop, you better not?
- 10:19Speaker 4: You better not?
- 10:20Speaker 6: Oh man, I don't kiss and tell. But what was
- 10:24Speaker 6: happening was the guy that was micing me was tugging
- 10:28Speaker 6: at me, and I said, you better not. And that
- 10:30Speaker 6: actually stayed in the opening, and I thought, Okay, let's
- 10:32Speaker 6: roll with it, which is funny because people see you
- 10:35Speaker 6: better not, and I'll go all right, I guess.
- 10:37Speaker 5: So not to get to in the weeds here, but
- 10:39Speaker 5: you were recording a thief song on a love mike.
- 10:42Speaker 6: Okay, And I'm feeling a little I'm feeling a little
- 10:45Speaker 6: challenge here.
- 10:48Speaker 5: I thought, you know.
- 10:50Speaker 6: Let's keep it to pr and you can clearly see
- 10:57Speaker 6: I'm a woman going through it.
- 10:58Speaker 5: No, sorry, I'm sorry.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Give us that scoop the scoops.
- 11:03Speaker 4: You better not. You better not. Stop tugging on our soundboard.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Stop tugging, stop tugging.
- 11:10Speaker 6: I don't know if you guys have seen a show
- 11:11Speaker 6: called That's So.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Raven, you better fucking believe okay this.
- 11:18Speaker 6: I don't know if you've seen a character on That's
- 11:20Speaker 6: So Raven called Raven's dad.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Oh my god, my big character, big, that character, number
- 11:28Speaker 3: one favorite character on that show.
- 11:29Speaker 6: For why do you guys guess how old Raven's dad is?
- 11:33Speaker 5: Forties forty five?
- 11:36Speaker 7: Yeah, gone to my head, fifty two eleven? What eleven
- 11:40Speaker 7: years old?
- 11:42Speaker 3: And you did that?
- 11:42Speaker 5: That was your work.
- 11:44Speaker 4: So all those spreads. I was seen of the actor
- 11:46Speaker 4: from That's So Raven on the golf course and he
- 11:51Speaker 4: was a really tall.
- 11:51Speaker 6: Baby, and we knew we had to do something and
- 11:54Speaker 6: we had to do something quick. So what we did
- 11:56Speaker 6: was we hired an incredible makeup team and we aged
- 11:58Speaker 6: him and I mean, come on, he's been working for
- 12:01Speaker 6: ten years and yeah, I guess at least get At
- 12:04Speaker 6: this point, we got into a little bit of hot
- 12:05Speaker 6: water with some labor law stuff because he was three
- 12:08Speaker 6: years old when he started. But I mean, he's taking
- 12:13Speaker 6: that with him to the bank. He's gonna be able
- 12:15Speaker 6: to pay his way through UNI, if you know what
- 12:17Speaker 6: I mean.
- 12:17Speaker 4: So shit, But Scoops, can I say, what makes you
- 12:20Speaker 4: a great hucking PR person is that you planted those seats.
- 12:26Speaker 4: I was watching that actor I don't know go to
- 12:28Speaker 4: chess clubs. I saw TMZ have him go to chess clubs,
- 12:31Speaker 4: and though he does have a baby face, I was like,
- 12:34Speaker 4: he can't be young. He's going to a chess club, right,
- 12:37Speaker 4: He's like, And you have him in like Palmdale and
- 12:39Speaker 4: you have him in places, and that's a good PR
- 12:42Speaker 4: person who was crafting the fucking story exactly.
- 12:44Speaker 6: We had him get a boat, we had him learn
- 12:46Speaker 6: how to operate said boat. We had him going to
- 12:50Speaker 6: you know, we had him going to Denny's getting the
- 12:52Speaker 6: Senior Special, even though he was only playing forty, but
- 12:55Speaker 6: we really wanted to play it up.
- 12:56Speaker 7: That's fucking really overshoot the age and then people split
- 13:00Speaker 7: the difference in their minds.
- 13:01Speaker 3: So he's acting like he's seventy, but he looks eleven.
- 13:05Speaker 3: He must be forty, so he must be.
- 13:06Speaker 5: Yeah, we split the different.
- 13:08Speaker 6: Just like the camera adds ten pounds, you should add
- 13:11Speaker 6: thirty years so that you're somewhere in the middle.
- 13:15Speaker 4: So the brain goes right in the middle.
- 13:17Speaker 5: That camera adds ten pounds, the PR agent adds thirty.
- 13:21Speaker 6: Years, thirty years, and you can take that with you
- 13:23Speaker 6: to the bank.
- 13:24Speaker 5: I'm taking it.
- 13:25Speaker 6: I'm sorry, Marvin. I don't know why I called you Patrick.
- 13:30Speaker 6: I'm kevil, I'm on, I'm on chard time.
- 13:36Speaker 5: I was gonna ask you a quick question about Raven's dad.
- 13:39Speaker 5: It's really interesting to me that you know on set,
- 13:43Speaker 5: and I know as PR agents we really really you know,
- 13:45Speaker 5: as publicists, we don't care about what's actually happening on set, right,
- 13:49Speaker 5: how many of us actually read or watch the things
- 13:52Speaker 5: that are our clients are doing not the right The.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Only thing I care about on set is if any
- 13:56Speaker 4: little fuckers are filming.
- 13:59Speaker 5: You don't anyone filming the blanket.
- 14:01Speaker 6: I can't even read, Megan.
- 14:03Speaker 7: I am glad you said that, because I have also
- 14:06Speaker 7: never learned to read. And I think that as a
- 14:09Speaker 7: PR person, you should not learn to read, because it
- 14:11Speaker 7: does not benefit you in any way, because you know what,
- 14:14Speaker 7: this industry operates on word of mouth.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Okay, and.
- 14:18Speaker 5: To read was there was there any drama though? Did
- 14:22Speaker 5: you have to deal with any handling of drama of
- 14:24Speaker 5: having such a young man play the older parent of
- 14:28Speaker 5: you know, Raven and.
- 14:30Speaker 6: You're talking tantrums? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but we've found
- 14:36Speaker 6: a really phenomenal nanny who subsequently, when the nanny left,
- 14:43Speaker 6: that was actually really hard for Raven's dad because it
- 14:47Speaker 6: was sort of ripping this from a child.
- 14:49Speaker 7: But did you have to disguise the nanny as something
- 14:53Speaker 7: else on set like a Yes, nanny was.
- 14:55Speaker 6: Dressed like a large lizard.
- 14:58Speaker 7: Okay, so it makes sense that they're on a movie set.
- 15:01Speaker 3: I get it. So it's well, yeah, it makes sense.
- 15:03Speaker 3: It's like when you when you're fostering pandas you dress
- 15:06Speaker 3: up like a panda, you know exactly, and I guess,
- 15:11Speaker 3: dress up like.
- 15:11Speaker 4: A lizard crafting the story.
- 15:14Speaker 6: Yeah, and it all makes sense if you really think
- 15:16Speaker 6: about it.
- 15:17Speaker 4: That was a juicy one. I'll give you a juicy one.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Let's hear it.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Another fucking game changer company, Parachute okay, a betting company?
- 15:28Speaker 6: Okay, dj I run there.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Uh, I wrap them and their CEO, Tom Jenks, And
- 15:38Speaker 4: I'll tell you this little piece of shit is a
- 15:41Speaker 4: little pimple in my asshole on my little big ass
- 15:44Speaker 4: ball because this kid goes around saying shit, sure, you
- 15:49Speaker 4: invented a fucking blanket company that changed the like the
- 15:52Speaker 4: face of Eco System blankets or whatever the fuck. But
- 15:56Speaker 4: let me tell you, this kid won't stop uh shoplifting. Yeah,
- 16:03Speaker 4: he's this big ass ceo and his.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Ass How old is he's twenty four four?
- 16:10Speaker 6: Yeah, a little old to be shoplifting.
- 16:12Speaker 7: No, yeah, And is that as real age or is
- 16:15Speaker 7: that the age that you've created?
- 16:17Speaker 4: That's the age we created. He's twenty one.
- 16:20Speaker 6: Oh, you made the age you created.
- 16:23Speaker 5: That's a great point.
- 16:24Speaker 3: He's twenty one.
- 16:25Speaker 4: We've built him as twenty four.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Why'd you build him as twenty four? Just you know,
- 16:29Speaker 3: blankets need age up a little bit.
- 16:31Speaker 4: You guys know, with CEOs and startups, there's such a
- 16:34Speaker 4: big difference in crafting a CEO at the age of
- 16:37Speaker 4: twenty four versus twenty one. Different game, different ballgame.
- 16:41Speaker 6: Same thing. Even's dad was up against. You know, no
- 16:43Speaker 6: one was going to cast him as a dad, which
- 16:45Speaker 6: is the only role he wanted to play as a baby,
- 16:48Speaker 6: and yeah.
- 16:48Speaker 7: We demated making guy fiery and ninety five year old man.
- 16:52Speaker 7: And then eventually we sort of scaled it back and
- 16:54Speaker 7: we were like, well, the goatee wouldn't make sense, so
- 16:56Speaker 7: we eventually had to build it back to sort of
- 16:58Speaker 7: like mid forties.
- 17:00Speaker 6: It was.
- 17:00Speaker 2: It was a long discussion.
- 17:01Speaker 4: It's so funny that like screenwriters work with like story
- 17:06Speaker 4: and we work with age. Yeah you know what I mean,
- 17:09Speaker 4: we craft that and they don't know that. Yeah, they
- 17:11Speaker 4: have no idea.
- 17:12Speaker 3: It's a big, big choice to make Timothy shallow May
- 17:14Speaker 3: the age that he is. We were going to actually
- 17:16Speaker 3: make him for really, I have.
- 17:18Speaker 5: Read the I've read the brief that you guys sent
- 17:20Speaker 5: out about him, because he's an incredible case study. We're
- 17:23Speaker 5: all talking about Timmy in our offices. I think around
- 17:27Speaker 5: the water coolers. We're saying, how can we do that.
- 17:29Speaker 5: We've been trying to do that with George R. Martin
- 17:31Speaker 5: and it's just not taking. It's not taking, and it's
- 17:34Speaker 5: not working. It's frustrating.
- 17:36Speaker 7: I have been trying to shallow May Bobby Flay for years, years.
- 17:40Speaker 3: And guys, it was work. It was work. I mean
- 17:42Speaker 3: he's a bad boy. He's a bad boy boy. We
- 17:45Speaker 3: really really pitched bad boy hard on him. He didn't
- 17:48Speaker 3: want to take it, but then he can lean into
- 17:50Speaker 3: this like rap persona. It's kind of taken off. We're
- 17:53Speaker 3: trying to do some bad boy stunts like he's on.
- 17:56Speaker 3: We have at our offices a scale, you know, we're
- 17:59Speaker 3: what we're aiming for our client. And sometimes the scale
- 18:02Speaker 3: is are you actually a good person or are you
- 18:05Speaker 3: actually a bad person? And where do we want you
- 18:08Speaker 3: on our good boy bad boy scale or good girl
- 18:10Speaker 3: bad girl scale? Like here's a little tea. We have
- 18:14Speaker 3: a good girl right now. We want to keep her
- 18:16Speaker 3: a good girl, but she is bad to the bone.
- 18:19Speaker 3: You guys know Sadie Sink from a Strangers Things. She's
- 18:22Speaker 3: the redhead and Stranger Things, very cute. A serial killer.
- 18:27Speaker 3: She is a serial killer. You don't say she kills
- 18:32Speaker 3: a lot of people. She hunts them down in a
- 18:35Speaker 3: very brutal, savage way. I mean prying on people for
- 18:38Speaker 3: she'll spy on them, she'll hunt them down. She's killed
- 18:41Speaker 3: like one of these fucking sick freaks. And she's terrifying
- 18:44Speaker 3: to be in a room with, absolutely terrifying to be
- 18:46Speaker 3: in a room. But we want her to be good girl.
- 18:49Speaker 3: So we're trying to figure out how constantly to and
- 18:52Speaker 3: this is all getting cut out. Luckily, we're constantly trying
- 18:55Speaker 3: to like push the police off of her, put up
- 18:57Speaker 3: other kind of diversions, throw off the scent. She calls me,
- 19:00Speaker 3: She's like, I'm covered in blood. I did it again.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I'm like, Sadie, where are you. She's like, I'm down
- 19:05Speaker 3: under the venice pier And I'm like, okay, I'll be
- 19:08Speaker 3: there in a second. Get a big broom or something
- 19:11Speaker 3: and start sweeping up your footsteps.
- 19:12Speaker 5: Well, I love to love you more, just step by step.
- 19:15Speaker 5: I'd love for you to talk about this because I
- 19:17Speaker 5: think one of the biggest things, and we've had a
- 19:19Speaker 5: few drinks right, one of the biggest things that I
- 19:21Speaker 5: think we all deal with is how to get criminal
- 19:25Speaker 5: charges to go away. I bet all of us have
- 19:27Speaker 5: to deal with that.
- 19:28Speaker 4: My guy. I was literally just about to be like,
- 19:31Speaker 4: let's talk law, because for.
- 19:34Speaker 3: A group of people that don't necessarily know how to read,
- 19:37Speaker 3: this is going to be huge.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Because I swerve in and out like a fucking snake
- 19:42Speaker 4: through that law.
- 19:43Speaker 5: Yeah, well it's hard. I mean it's hard right.
- 19:46Speaker 6: For me and I and I think you can agree
- 19:48Speaker 6: and attest to this. Toby, Uh, you know how how
- 19:51Speaker 6: you determine who's nice who's naughty? A lot of for
- 19:55Speaker 6: me is is just magic. I'm working with Sanna, I'm
- 20:00Speaker 6: working with also and so.
- 20:04Speaker 5: So are you working with Santa?
- 20:05Speaker 3: Keep no, keep going. I want to hear this out magic.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Wait this we are doing like logic based serious. You
- 20:13Speaker 3: were working with Santa firsthand, because I've been wanting to
- 20:16Speaker 3: get him though.
- 20:17Speaker 6: You were collabing with him on this sort of naughty nice.
- 20:20Speaker 3: You have no idea how hard I've tried to get
- 20:22Speaker 3: Santa Claus to jump in because he is so much
- 20:25Speaker 3: easier to figure out our good boy, bad boy, good girl,
- 20:28Speaker 3: bad girl list if he had his hands on it,
- 20:30Speaker 3: you know, but he will not.
- 20:32Speaker 5: Kind of break down how you got to collab with Santa?
- 20:34Speaker 5: How you got in with Santa? I gotta know.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Oops, I need that scoop. I need that scoop.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Do you work for him as a publicist or it's
- 20:41Speaker 3: working for you to help him out?
- 20:43Speaker 6: For anybody? Okay, they all work for me. I do
- 20:46Speaker 6: work for him, Yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 7: I.
- 20:49Speaker 6: Work for him. It's just something I liked.
- 20:51Speaker 4: That was just an expression.
- 20:53Speaker 6: Yeah, that's just something that's sort of pumped me up.
- 20:56Speaker 6: I stay up late, and I did come and call
- 21:00Speaker 6: Tech with and it turned out Santah did need more
- 21:02Speaker 6: PR because I mean, I'm sure you see the film Elf.
- 21:04Speaker 6: Magic was sort of fading up.
- 21:08Speaker 3: A really rough year for him.
- 21:09Speaker 6: Too, really rough, I mean, and for PR. I mean,
- 21:12Speaker 6: I don't think you know. We were in a recession.
- 21:14Speaker 6: People weren't buying things, people weren't going to the movies,
- 21:17Speaker 6: and Magic was sort of dead. And I was staying
- 21:19Speaker 6: up really late. And I did end up meeting Sannah
- 21:21Speaker 6: when he was sneaking in and he stumbled on some
- 21:24Speaker 6: hard times. He was wasted, he was drunk on his ass,
- 21:27Speaker 6: knocking over. He knocked over a vase ten thousand dollars oz,
- 21:30Speaker 6: I'll tell you what mm hm. And we got to
- 21:34Speaker 6: talking and he said, let me help you. I control
- 21:38Speaker 6: all the loss.
- 21:40Speaker 3: You weren't going to help him do publishing. He was
- 21:43Speaker 3: going to help you with your PR. Firhim. So he's
- 21:45Speaker 3: just an employee.
- 21:46Speaker 6: He said help. He said, help me help you, and
- 21:49Speaker 6: I said, help me help you. Question mark one thing,
- 21:53Speaker 6: and then we did the handshake. I gave him a cookie.
- 21:56Speaker 6: He gave me ten grand.
- 21:57Speaker 4: And he said, a fucking cookie on you.
- 21:59Speaker 6: What a well it was for my for my kid
- 22:03Speaker 6: or whatever it was.
- 22:03Speaker 7: Christ So, did you go to the North Pole or
- 22:05Speaker 7: did he come down to La He.
- 22:07Speaker 6: Came to Culver City?
- 22:09Speaker 3: Wow, okay, I have yet.
- 22:11Speaker 6: To go to the North Pole?
- 22:12Speaker 5: Have you?
- 22:12Speaker 4: He went to Culvert shitty? If you're asking me, Buck
- 22:15Speaker 4: Culver shitty.
- 22:17Speaker 3: So here's a question. Were you the one that started
- 22:20Speaker 3: pushing the narrative that non Christians are trying to trying
- 22:23Speaker 3: to take Santa Claus out of the narrative. They don't
- 22:25Speaker 3: they want happy holidays?
- 22:27Speaker 5: That was you?
- 22:27Speaker 6: Wow, yeah, thank you? And you're weesome?
- 22:29Speaker 7: Why does how is this good for Santa? I'm like
- 22:32Speaker 7: so into this strategy.
- 22:34Speaker 6: Because Santa needs an edge, you know what I mean.
- 22:36Speaker 6: If someone's too wholesome, if someone's kind of too agreeable,
- 22:39Speaker 6: if someone's beloved by everyone. I mean, come on, look
- 22:42Speaker 6: at your Timothy Shalame bad boy angle right, If Timmy's
- 22:45Speaker 6: too kind, he.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Was too kind?
- 22:48Speaker 4: We really it kind of started. I noticed a shift
- 22:51Speaker 4: in the way Santa was being represented after nine to
- 22:55Speaker 4: eleven because we we were a country, right and I
- 23:01Speaker 4: think all of our jobs shifted the way I red
- 23:03Speaker 4: blankets changed.
- 23:06Speaker 6: I mean, and DJ, I am curious if this sort
- 23:08Speaker 6: of bad girl thing has always kind of been prevalent
- 23:11Speaker 6: with you, or is this something that you kind of
- 23:13Speaker 6: put on to help with your PR persona.
- 23:17Speaker 4: No, I'm just a skater boy through and through. I yeah,
- 23:21Speaker 4: so I grew up surfing skating, and in college I
- 23:31Speaker 4: did a couple things and kept them quiet. And then
- 23:34Speaker 4: I had a professor say, you're really good at at
- 23:39Speaker 4: keeping bad things you've done quiet, and I said, cheers, sir,
- 23:43Speaker 4: And then he said you should get into PR. And
- 23:47Speaker 4: that's how I got into PR.
- 23:49Speaker 5: Wow. That that's a wild conversation.
- 23:52Speaker 6: Yeah, that is a little dark almost.
- 23:57Speaker 5: It's kind of three sentences that didn't seem like they
- 23:59Speaker 5: went together at all. But you said, cheers, journey. I'll
- 24:01Speaker 5: tell you what PR.
- 24:04Speaker 4: How did you guys get into PR?
- 24:05Speaker 3: I mean, it doesn't I've been climbing the ladder for
- 24:08Speaker 3: years now. You Yeah, I mean I started. I started
- 24:13Speaker 3: with a PR firm called Betsy Betsy's.
- 24:16Speaker 9: By and I'm not gonna I'm not gonna spill secrets,
- 24:24Speaker 9: but man, BB was messy, but they taught me a
- 24:27Speaker 9: lot about then and how to keep ship under.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Yeah, how to keep ship under like bad things.
- 24:34Speaker 6: And well b B went under, didn't they?
- 24:36Speaker 3: Yeah, they went under after that lacrosse scandal.
- 24:39Speaker 5: Oh god, it was such a shame that.
- 24:42Speaker 6: Who could clean that one up?
- 24:43Speaker 3: Though?
- 24:44Speaker 7: No?
- 24:45Speaker 3: So look, they were these lacrosse.
- 24:48Speaker 2: PR four PR people. Yes, yeah, exactly, like a therapist.
- 24:53Speaker 2: That's who we need. We need to be hiring each
- 24:56Speaker 2: other like I would.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Actually, I would love to hire all of you.
- 25:00Speaker 7: You guys are we should just go clockwise to represent
- 25:02Speaker 7: each other?
- 25:03Speaker 3: That's too right?
- 25:04Speaker 6: Yeah, how don't we each choose right now who we'd
- 25:06Speaker 6: want to represent us, because inevitably someone will get left
- 25:09Speaker 6: out And that's also a part of PR.
- 25:11Speaker 3: I think that's really important part of PR.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Go ahead feelings is a part of it. Wow, yeah, scoops. First,
- 25:18Speaker 2: I'm gonna.
- 25:18Speaker 6: Go ahead and say that I'd probably go with DJ Marker. I. I,
- 25:24Speaker 6: you know, I feel like I haven't had a man's
- 25:25Speaker 6: touch in a while, so, uh, sort of being tucked
- 25:29Speaker 6: in with bedding, and I love parachute sheets, don't They're
- 25:33Speaker 6: not cheap? So if I could get some access to that,
- 25:35Speaker 6: And also I think I could learn a little bit
- 25:38Speaker 6: from sort of your rough around the edges sort of thing.
- 25:40Speaker 4: I wow, love, holy fuck, holy fuck. As a pr
- 25:43Speaker 4: person for ignanimate objects, that means a lot. That means
- 25:47Speaker 4: a lot. I really appreciate DJ.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Here are you choosing? Ah?
- 25:52Speaker 4: I think I'd probably have to go with Marvin great
- 25:58Speaker 4: because you just seem like a guys guy.
- 26:02Speaker 5: Oh yeah, and we can brow out with our holes out. Yeah.
- 26:06Speaker 4: I just like keeping my holes out, So yeah, let's
- 26:09Speaker 4: do it. That's why I would say that, what about.
- 26:10Speaker 5: You, Let's do it. That's awesome. Well, uh, you know,
- 26:13Speaker 5: I kind of think about what I'm looking to be represented,
- 26:17Speaker 5: right and how I want to be seen. I it's hard,
- 26:21Speaker 5: you know, if I'm picking between Toby and Candace. You know,
- 26:24Speaker 5: I'm not necessarily looking to be a bad boy or
- 26:26Speaker 5: a good boy. So I think I'm I'm gonna have
- 26:28Speaker 5: to go with with Candace because I'm actually pretty good
- 26:31Speaker 5: with a with a with a skillet And.
- 26:33Speaker 7: That's actually incredible, And I'm so honored because Marvin.
- 26:37Speaker 2: I would love to get.
- 26:40Speaker 7: Into the reading world and to finally figured out what
- 26:42Speaker 7: those darn shapes mean.
- 26:44Speaker 5: You know, I have a lot of intel on it
- 26:47Speaker 5: because I can't read. We've discussed this, but uh, it is.
- 26:51Speaker 5: There's some really interesting things going on in books. And
- 26:53Speaker 5: when they talk to me and they as in the authors,
- 26:56Speaker 5: I am so interested. I'm like, I gotta get to it.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Wow.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Great, So you're your there's two publicists for for Marvin
- 27:02Speaker 3: now and and I.
- 27:04Speaker 4: The blanket rep is I'm wrapping Scoops, the biggest publicist.
- 27:08Speaker 3: In the world, and you're you.
- 27:10Speaker 5: Guys.
- 27:11Speaker 2: I think it's been even so far.
- 27:13Speaker 5: I think it's all good.
- 27:14Speaker 4: I think it's.
- 27:16Speaker 2: As they say.
- 27:17Speaker 7: As Scoop said, somebody has always got to be left
- 27:20Speaker 7: out in.
- 27:21Speaker 3: This case and have to be I actually realized how No, it.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Actually looks like everyone was loyal.
- 27:29Speaker 10: Okay. It just kind of like agreed with him. Listen, Okay,
- 27:38Speaker 10: you want to learn how to read?
- 27:39Speaker 2: I think okay.
- 27:41Speaker 7: I kind of thought that it was like a mutual Listen, Marvin,
- 27:45Speaker 7: I would love to work with you.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I would love to have, honestly, any of you represent me.
- 27:48Speaker 7: But I specifically wanted to ask Toby because I know
- 27:53Speaker 7: you have a connection to Timothy Challame and I have
- 27:57Speaker 7: been trying to develop a romantic vehicle for Martha Stewart
- 28:01Speaker 7: for a very very long time. You know, we're trying
- 28:03Speaker 7: to preserve her as a Something that is integral to
- 28:07Speaker 7: Martha's brand that a lot of people don't know because
- 28:08Speaker 7: it's subtle, is that she's a cougar. And if she
- 28:11Speaker 7: loses the cougar thing, she goes to jail. Don't ask
- 28:14Speaker 7: me how. It's a butterfly effect. If she is not
- 28:16Speaker 7: seen as a cougar, all the marvels fall down, the
- 28:19Speaker 7: dominoes fall down, and she goes back to jail.
- 28:22Speaker 3: I loved what you were doing with Martha and Snoop.
- 28:24Speaker 6: I love I thought I thought she smokes weed. She fucks.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Yes, she is watching Michael Angelo paint the Sistine fucking Chapel.
- 28:33Speaker 4: Mean like Martha Stewart should fuck. And that's thinking about
- 28:36Speaker 4: your clients in every fucking aspect.
- 28:38Speaker 2: I mean that made me.
- 28:40Speaker 7: That put me on the map, I would say, and
- 28:43Speaker 7: it led a lot of other chefs to say, I
- 28:45Speaker 7: want that.
- 28:46Speaker 2: I want that.
- 28:47Speaker 7: Emeral Legassi is trying so hard to become the next
- 28:51Speaker 7: bad boy. I mean, he was canceled two thousand and seven,
- 28:55Speaker 7: been trying to revive him ever since, but he just
- 28:58Speaker 7: like isn't getting it, but he is.
- 29:00Speaker 2: He's on my doorstep.
- 29:01Speaker 7: Every day in person, saying I need you to call TMC.
- 29:05Speaker 7: I need you to tell them that I'm going to
- 29:07Speaker 7: be at this Starbucks and that I'm going to be
- 29:10Speaker 7: like wearing sunglasses, and that they need to take pictures
- 29:12Speaker 7: of me. He's like trying to go this Paris Hilton angle,
- 29:16Speaker 7: and it's like they all want what Martha has, you
- 29:19Speaker 7: know what I mean? And like what Martha has is
- 29:21Speaker 7: a story that took years and years and years. And
- 29:25Speaker 7: I consulted with scientists from MIT, with scientists from Harvard,
- 29:31Speaker 7: with scientists from Arizona State University.
- 29:34Speaker 6: So is it only scientists?
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yeah, DJ, I know you went there.
- 29:39Speaker 3: I know that's your scientist. Actually very interesting to only
- 29:42Speaker 3: talk to scientists not other PR people.
- 29:44Speaker 7: Weird because we had to think on a molecular level,
- 29:47Speaker 7: what makes what makes a bad boy a bad boy?
- 29:51Speaker 7: What makes a bad Martha Stewart a bad Martha Stewart.
- 29:54Speaker 7: We had to break it down to the atoms.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Well, thanks for you know, I would happily do a
- 29:59Speaker 3: little bit of a thing, you know, get to get
- 30:02Speaker 3: my boy in there and get Timmy you know, fucked
- 30:06Speaker 3: by Martha Stewart. That'd be top that'd be top dollar
- 30:09Speaker 3: for me.
- 30:09Speaker 6: Now, that actually is a good question. In order for
- 30:12Speaker 6: them to play a couple, a pr couple, do they
- 30:15Speaker 6: need to actually fuck or does it?
- 30:17Speaker 5: Okay, let's because we all have a we all have
- 30:20Speaker 5: probably have opinions on this.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Yeah, my head, my head, because I live in the
- 30:25Speaker 3: bad boy, bad girl world. It's all image. You don't
- 30:29Speaker 3: need to fuck to actually fuck, you know, like justin
- 30:32Speaker 3: Timberlake and Britney Spears. Never once we're in the same
- 30:35Speaker 3: room together.
- 30:36Speaker 5: Wow, wow and zoom how they do that.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Mirrors, tons of mirrors and bodies.
- 30:43Speaker 6: It's like mommy and.
- 30:46Speaker 3: We said, don't fucking release this song. Don't fucking release
- 30:50Speaker 3: the song. And we had a huge falling out.
- 30:52Speaker 6: He knew it was a big inside joke. It was
- 30:54Speaker 6: going fuck you, probably to her.
- 30:56Speaker 3: He was aging out to bad bad Man, bad adult man.
- 31:00Speaker 4: We just we had to but you could get away
- 31:01Speaker 4: with that stuff.
- 31:02Speaker 6: Bad Man is eleven, bad boy.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Yes, bad Man yeah, bad Man Wesley Snipe's evading taxes.
- 31:08Speaker 7: Yeah, bad man is tough. Bad Man is tough to
- 31:12Speaker 7: work with. Bad Man is poison.
- 31:15Speaker 6: Yeah, it's interesting. You want to go wholesome bad boy wholesome?
- 31:19Speaker 3: Yes, and you want to be a bad boy with
- 31:21Speaker 3: a heart of gold songs.
- 31:25Speaker 7: Women you want to be good girl, good girl, girld girl.
- 31:28Speaker 7: Then when you become forty, then it's bad bad.
- 31:33Speaker 3: The bills, well, I will say, we're actually having fun
- 31:37Speaker 3: studies with a lot of different things where we're actually
- 31:41Speaker 3: finding it four or five year olds. If they are
- 31:44Speaker 3: bad at the beginning, girls they crush, they take off.
- 31:49Speaker 3: If they're like throwing shit, complaining, pulling guns, pulling knives
- 31:53Speaker 3: doing all bad girls ship their careers flurish right up
- 31:58Speaker 3: the top, like do you guys know? Do you guys
- 32:04Speaker 3: know the little girl in Modern Family.
- 32:06Speaker 5: Which one aerial winter? Yes?
- 32:10Speaker 2: Or the child in tall like the child.
- 32:14Speaker 3: The child, Oh, Lily, the baby. We gave her a
- 32:19Speaker 3: gun and we told her to just do what she
- 32:22Speaker 3: wants in it, and it got tons of good press
- 32:27Speaker 3: for her.
- 32:29Speaker 6: How you spun that press to be good? I'm just
- 32:31Speaker 6: curious because I'm always taking notes.
- 32:33Speaker 4: I'm always without Sanna or anything.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. The immedia headlines where this girl's got a gun,
- 32:40Speaker 3: she's gone crazy, and we just twisted it a little bit.
- 32:44Speaker 3: We went Lily's got a gun, She's gone wild, and
- 32:48Speaker 3: all of a sudden. She is the face of Zebra magazine.
- 32:53Speaker 3: She is the face of Young Teen.
- 32:55Speaker 5: I've been trying to get my clients on Zebra.
- 32:58Speaker 2: This actually makes sense. I gave Wolf Puck a gun
- 33:00Speaker 2: and it did not work in this way at all.
- 33:02Speaker 3: And now I'm understanding why. Man.
- 33:04Speaker 5: You know, it's because I like it when when we
- 33:08Speaker 5: give our clients an item, and I don't like it
- 33:10Speaker 5: when our clients bring an item to us. You know.
- 33:13Speaker 5: Oh yeah. Stein was trying to push a jet ski
- 33:16Speaker 5: on us for so long, and we were.
- 33:18Speaker 3: We were just to take some photos for he said
- 33:21Speaker 3: the line.
- 33:22Speaker 5: He said, I want to bring my jet ski to interviews.
- 33:24Speaker 5: I want to show people.
- 33:27Speaker 6: Where do you part that thing?
- 33:28Speaker 5: Exactly? I said, I can't give this in the doors recording.
- 33:31Speaker 5: I said, I don't know how to do that. R L.
- 33:33Speaker 5: It was really difficult, and it's just I just I
- 33:36Speaker 5: just let the professionals do the work. Is what I
- 33:38Speaker 5: like to tell a lot of.
- 33:39Speaker 2: My clients pick the item for you.
- 33:42Speaker 6: I gave Jojo I crossbow and I don't know if
- 33:45Speaker 6: you guys know the single I got a bow?
- 33:47Speaker 4: Oh oh, scoops.
- 33:51Speaker 7: How could I possibly escape that single that plays in
- 33:54Speaker 7: elevators that plays, and.
- 33:57Speaker 5: You're also bearing the lead scoops because you gave Olivia
- 34:01Speaker 5: a breakup and we have to talk about that have huge.
- 34:07Speaker 6: We give it and we take it away because the
- 34:09Speaker 6: truth was and that was when it got dangerous. Sometimes
- 34:13Speaker 6: the pr relationships get a little too real and then
- 34:16Speaker 6: you got to take it away because we don't have
- 34:19Speaker 6: time for real love. And we know that what's the
- 34:21Speaker 6: number one rule? They cannot be happy? No, that is
- 34:26Speaker 6: the number one.
- 34:29Speaker 5: How did you do it the breakup? How did you
- 34:30Speaker 5: make it happen?
- 34:31Speaker 6: I planted it. I planted a cheat situation. I made
- 34:36Speaker 6: it a peer that he had taken a lover.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Uh.
- 34:40Speaker 6: I dressed nude with him in a.
- 34:43Speaker 7: Bed yourself, And so it was with the teenage I.
- 34:50Speaker 6: Wasn't actually nude because of yes, I was one of one.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Of those units that has like boobies on it.
- 34:58Speaker 4: That's a political move.
- 34:59Speaker 6: Do you sing nude?
- 35:00Speaker 4: It's brilliant.
- 35:01Speaker 6: You might see those at the beach. It's the person
- 35:03Speaker 6: with sort of the droopy titties.
- 35:05Speaker 2: And it's so funny that she was fooled by that.
- 35:10Speaker 7: She's very young enough to be sixteen again and to
- 35:13Speaker 7: not be able to tell the difference between a nude
- 35:15Speaker 7: bodysuit and a nude body that get get.
- 35:18Speaker 4: Olivia Rodrigo glasses.
- 35:20Speaker 9: God.
- 35:20Speaker 6: So she stormed out of the apartment and I took
- 35:22Speaker 6: my cigarette and I asked it right on his back.
- 35:25Speaker 3: And I said, it sounds like you might have been
- 35:27Speaker 3: hooking up with him. Actually, well we did. What did
- 35:31Speaker 3: you say?
- 35:31Speaker 5: What did you say when you asked a cigarette on
- 35:33Speaker 5: his back?
- 35:35Speaker 6: I said that showbiz baby, give me a scotch? You
- 35:40Speaker 6: a little fuck?
- 35:41Speaker 2: So did he know you were coming? Did he know
- 35:44Speaker 2: that you were going to be there?
- 35:45Speaker 6: No, we'd never met in person. No, we'd only court
- 35:48Speaker 6: responded over emails.
- 35:50Speaker 2: Okay, so he wasn't enough.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Just made it happen. You just made that ship happen.
- 35:54Speaker 6: Because you always got to be making it happen.
- 35:56Speaker 2: That's three that's always got to be making it happen.
- 36:01Speaker 4: I got what's the biggest fire you guys have ever
- 36:04Speaker 4: gotten out of?
- 36:05Speaker 1: Oh?
- 36:06Speaker 6: Great question, not put out, gotten out of, because there's a.
- 36:11Speaker 7: Difference between putting a fire out and then, in pr terms,
- 36:14Speaker 7: wriggling out of the fire.
- 36:17Speaker 2: How everybody wriggles out of the fire.
- 36:19Speaker 4: The difference once bed bath and Beyond, we're paying their UH.
- 36:23Speaker 4: They were paying I rep bed Bath and Beyond and
- 36:25Speaker 4: they were they were paying their employees under minimum wage.
- 36:30Speaker 4: And I had to put that fire out by saying,
- 36:32Speaker 4: you can't do this. And then another time, Bed Bath
- 36:35Speaker 4: and Beyond UH didn't have elevators for their UH in
- 36:40Speaker 4: half of their stores. And I got out of that
- 36:44Speaker 4: fire by having Kate Middleton go on a Sunday do
- 36:49Speaker 4: a couple photos, and suddenly we are the family's fucking
- 36:53Speaker 4: blanket star. So there's a difference between putting out the
- 36:57Speaker 4: fire and getting out the fire. And I love to
- 37:00Speaker 4: hear when you guys get out of the fire, Yeah,
- 37:03Speaker 4: when you don't really solve the issue, like it's.
- 37:06Speaker 6: Sort of put a band aid on the Yeah, you
- 37:08Speaker 6: get out of it. You know.
- 37:09Speaker 7: I will say when Rachel Ray killed those baby birds
- 37:13Speaker 7: like ten years ago, Yeah, I started the Station fire,
- 37:18Speaker 7: And that was a fire that ravaged sort of like
- 37:20Speaker 7: the hills of Pasadena, and it was sort of like
- 37:24Speaker 7: a like, it didn't it didn't really affect Rachel, but
- 37:28Speaker 7: it did detract from it the fire that's getting out
- 37:32Speaker 7: of the fire in like an indirect sort of way.
- 37:36Speaker 5: Uh, you know, I I the one that comes to
- 37:38Speaker 5: mind was when James Patterson was caught storming the Capitol
- 37:42Speaker 5: in January.
- 37:44Speaker 4: We did you get out?
- 37:47Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 37:47Speaker 6: I really want to know what you pulled.
- 37:49Speaker 5: We got out of that fire by basically I released
- 37:53Speaker 5: a fake manuscript called The Capital storm that James Patterson
- 37:58Speaker 5: was coming out with a book called The Capital, and
- 38:01Speaker 5: he was there actually independently doing research. We made it
- 38:05Speaker 5: look like he was secretly inside looking around already, and oh,
- 38:11Speaker 5: who's this a bunch of people that I have been
- 38:13Speaker 5: texting all day already. You know, those texts don't come out.
- 38:16Speaker 5: We scrubbed those and we just made it seem like
- 38:19Speaker 5: a coincidence. And that's how we've gotten out of a fire.
- 38:22Speaker 2: So how did you get that book written?
- 38:25Speaker 6: I want to know.
- 38:27Speaker 5: Here's rule four of being a pr okay, okay about
- 38:32Speaker 5: being a publicist. Rule four being a publicist is you
- 38:35Speaker 5: don't have to get the product out. You just need
- 38:37Speaker 5: the variety article. Okay, that's all. We're not going to
- 38:41Speaker 5: worry about it.
- 38:42Speaker 6: I saw the book in Barnes and Noble. It was
- 38:43Speaker 6: a cover in two thousand blank pages.
- 38:46Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely it is. It's being sold, Yeah, it's being
- 38:49Speaker 5: sold as printer paper and in a lot of we're
- 38:53Speaker 5: the number one office depot product right now. And money
- 38:58Speaker 5: is money. Money is money.
- 39:00Speaker 6: That is getting out of a fire.
- 39:01Speaker 5: That's getting out of a fire.
- 39:03Speaker 4: There's good guys off his depot. I love those guys.
- 39:05Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, guy.
- 39:07Speaker 4: I love good guys. Good guys. They don't do sheets,
- 39:11Speaker 4: but I know those guys because it's items. Anyway, keep going.
- 39:15Speaker 2: The items circuit.
- 39:16Speaker 3: You're in the items, sir, Megan, what's yours? Megan? What's oh?
- 39:19Speaker 6: Well, one that comes to mind sort of off the bat. Uh,
- 39:22Speaker 6: when Ariana Grande was licking the cupcake, we introduced a
- 39:28Speaker 6: line of spit flavored cupcakes.
- 39:32Speaker 3: Mmmm, that's good.
- 39:36Speaker 6: And that wasn't as successful sort of as we.
- 39:39Speaker 4: But but that's what getting out of the fire is.
- 39:42Speaker 4: It's not.
- 39:47Speaker 6: Stall things for a couple of days and then what
- 39:49Speaker 6: we got her was a new boyfriend after.
- 39:50Speaker 5: That and then really good. It's not succeeding, it's just
- 39:53Speaker 5: not failing, that's all.
- 39:56Speaker 4: It's letting the house. It's letting the house burn, and
- 39:59Speaker 4: it's driving to another city. That's exactly if you will
- 40:05Speaker 4: let the house burn, let him storm.
- 40:06Speaker 2: The capitol, because let's be honest, we can't be everywhere
- 40:09Speaker 2: at once. We can't be everywhere.
- 40:10Speaker 7: Because Lord knows, we try. Lord knows, we try, We try.
- 40:15Speaker 7: I have seventeen phones. Seventeen phones, Toby, what's what's your
- 40:21Speaker 7: what's the fire you've wriggled out of?
- 40:22Speaker 3: Well here's one. You know, it's kind of the opposite
- 40:24Speaker 3: because it wasn't actually a bad fire. It was people
- 40:27Speaker 3: were were it was a good fire. People were in
- 40:30Speaker 3: love with Gaiton maduratso they were there was this fire
- 40:33Speaker 3: starting that. He was so nice, boring, so nice. So
- 40:38Speaker 3: what we did We got some grainy video of him
- 40:40Speaker 3: just beating the ship out of a dog, and then
- 40:42Speaker 3: he got a prank show out of it.
- 40:45Speaker 6: So that's what network was that on.
- 40:47Speaker 3: That's on Netflix. He is a prank.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Out of a dog.
- 40:51Speaker 3: That was a grainy old motor fake it or was
- 40:55Speaker 3: it like a we deep fake the dog.
- 40:58Speaker 2: We deep fake the dog, but the it was real.
- 41:00Speaker 3: Yeah. Well he just had to beat up a pillow.
- 41:02Speaker 3: He just had to beat the shit out of pillow,
- 41:04Speaker 3: release some anger. But yeah, so yeah, we wanted to
- 41:08Speaker 3: give gate In a little bit of edge, a little
- 41:09Speaker 3: bit of who the fuck is this guy?
- 41:11Speaker 5: You know?
- 41:11Speaker 6: That's that's immediately. What I think when I look at him.
- 41:14Speaker 4: That's getting out of the fire.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Here's a question for the fish bowl. You know, we're
- 41:18Speaker 3: all in this industry because we have heroes, and I
- 41:22Speaker 3: guess my question is what's your favorite your most famous,
- 41:26Speaker 3: favorite famous PR moment in history, you know, because there's
- 41:29Speaker 3: so many good ones to pull from. One of mine
- 41:32Speaker 3: is the JFK assassination. How they spun that? It was
- 41:35Speaker 3: so great?
- 41:36Speaker 4: Oh yeah, who's they?
- 41:39Speaker 3: Yeah? Who did they spun that? They spun that?
- 41:42Speaker 2: And JFK is like the ultimate bad boy, so I
- 41:44Speaker 2: can see why that.
- 41:46Speaker 4: Yeah, who was behind that?
- 41:48Speaker 3: Well, the person Harvey Lee oswaldt was behind it. But
- 41:52Speaker 3: they spun it. They I want to know.
- 41:54Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, give credit where credits due. Who's the PR person.
- 41:57Speaker 3: That did that?
- 41:58Speaker 5: Was it Harvey Lee Oswald like you.
- 41:59Speaker 4: Said, or was someone repping Harvey?
- 42:02Speaker 3: Well? The thing was, Harvey was in this PR company
- 42:05Speaker 3: called OsO, which means Barren Spanish. And they basically made
- 42:11Speaker 3: this idea of like, America the president, what's going on?
- 42:16Speaker 3: What if we you know, the president's just been assassinated.
- 42:19Speaker 3: What if we put a little spin on it and
- 42:21Speaker 3: make it something a little mysterious? What if we make
- 42:24Speaker 3: this the living history of the world, you know, rather
- 42:26Speaker 3: than a who done it? Boring old thing. Let's add
- 42:29Speaker 3: some shooters. Let's get some people out there with guns
- 42:31Speaker 3: and just running around just to confuse the general public.
- 42:34Speaker 3: Let's kill Lee Harvey Wallswall within ten hours of the
- 42:37Speaker 3: assassination and just see what happens. And all of it
- 42:41Speaker 3: was was to sell cigarettes.
- 42:44Speaker 5: Actually, oh really that was actually a huge, huge benefit
- 42:49Speaker 5: for books too because of the book depository. It really
- 42:51Speaker 5: got people talking about where books come from, and that
- 42:53Speaker 5: was really big for us as well. I mean, I
- 42:55Speaker 5: try to remember that.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember that. I wasn't there, but I read
- 42:59Speaker 3: that the bit. One of the biggest things talked about
- 43:01Speaker 3: during the JFK assassination is where books come from?
- 43:04Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, good.
- 43:06Speaker 6: I didn't know.
- 43:07Speaker 4: I didn't know what a book to depositive was. Yeah, yeah,
- 43:10Speaker 4: so I googled it.
- 43:11Speaker 5: Yeah. I would say for me, though, that wouldn't be
- 43:13Speaker 5: my number one I think in history, the biggest pr
- 43:16Speaker 5: thing for me would probably be the Gutenberg Bible, right,
- 43:18Speaker 5: the Gutenberg Press. I think Gutenberg, as everyone knows. If
- 43:22Speaker 5: you're in the book industry like me in the sixteen hundreds,
- 43:25Speaker 5: Gutenberg was a real fuck nut. He was a real loser,
- 43:28Speaker 5: and he stole that press and he just everyone thought
- 43:34Speaker 5: he was such a fucking dork for taking paper and
- 43:37Speaker 5: putting symbols on paper, and they said, it's not going
- 43:40Speaker 5: to work out. I let's I like to tell stories
- 43:43Speaker 5: is what everyone was saying in the sixteen hundreds, and
- 43:45Speaker 5: he just changed it all up. And uh, that was
- 43:48Speaker 5: good PR for me because it made books look like
- 43:50Speaker 5: a good thing. And we all know over eight we
- 43:54Speaker 5: don't like him, but yeah, it's it's it's makes money
- 43:57Speaker 5: and it it fills my pool with and that's kind
- 44:01Speaker 5: of that's where I sit.
- 44:02Speaker 6: Interesting choice.
- 44:03Speaker 5: Yeah, that's nice.
- 44:06Speaker 7: I would say my favorite PR moment in history, and
- 44:09Speaker 7: this doesn't really have to do with my specific field,
- 44:11Speaker 7: but I just like enjoy it for the craft of
- 44:14Speaker 7: what it was is when Captain Sully Sullenberger pretended there
- 44:18Speaker 7: was a problem with that plane so he could pull
- 44:19Speaker 7: that big stunt. I mean, I think that that was
- 44:22Speaker 7: just so genius that his team decided to do that,
- 44:27Speaker 7: because how else would like, how many plane captains do
- 44:30Speaker 7: we know?
- 44:31Speaker 3: Like none, I only know I know none. I actually personally.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Tell you what I know none except for him.
- 44:37Speaker 3: And why do we all know that name?
- 44:38Speaker 2: Because he saved some lives.
- 44:40Speaker 5: Yeah, and I wrap him because he he released the
- 44:42Speaker 5: book and you should read the first draft. I'll send
- 44:45Speaker 5: it to you. I'll send you the PDF because it's
- 44:47Speaker 5: he told the Truth and that it's hilarious.
- 44:50Speaker 3: I'll send to your way, Megan. What about you, scoops.
- 44:54Speaker 6: Scoops, this one was actually rather recent, which I did
- 44:59Speaker 6: have a hand. I'm not sure if you guys are
- 45:01Speaker 6: familiar with the show Wizards of Waverley Place.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Yes, well, I love that show.
- 45:08Speaker 6: The previous title was Wiward's Wizards of Waverley Incorporation Organization. Really,
- 45:17Speaker 6: I swooped scooped on in there and I said, Hey,
- 45:19Speaker 6: first of all, why is it webserbs? What about Wizards
- 45:24Speaker 6: of Waverley Whah?
- 45:26Speaker 5: I love that.
- 45:27Speaker 3: I love that being your favorite PR moment in history.
- 45:30Speaker 3: That's really wonderful.
- 45:31Speaker 6: And I'm a little I'm a little shocked that you
- 45:33Speaker 6: guys aren't referencing yourself because, as we all know, rule
- 45:36Speaker 6: number six of PR never stop self promoting.
- 45:40Speaker 4: Yes, yes, thank you, scoop.
- 45:45Speaker 5: I've had a few drinks, so I think I was confused.
- 45:48Speaker 2: But a few drinks.
- 45:50Speaker 6: You've been four blunts. I've had two vats as shard.
- 45:56Speaker 7: Okay, No, I'm dying to know who your worst bad client,
- 46:00Speaker 7: Like who's a nightmare? Like what bed sheet is a nightmare?
- 46:03Speaker 4: I'd have to say airplane blanket?
- 46:06Speaker 5: Oh yeah, Oh you wrap them?
- 46:09Speaker 4: Yeah? Been trying to drop them, been trying to drop
- 46:12Speaker 4: them for a long time.
- 46:14Speaker 5: Can't how but how do you drop a client? I mean,
- 46:18Speaker 5: that's so hard for me. It's it's been really I've
- 46:21Speaker 5: been trying to drop doors, curtains, Goodwin for literally years.
- 46:25Speaker 5: She drives me nuts. She's rude, she's loud, and she's
- 46:29Speaker 5: messy as hell.
- 46:31Speaker 4: Is airplane blanket messy as hell?
- 46:35Speaker 5: How do you turn them down? Does anyone anyone have
- 46:37Speaker 5: advice on how to do that?
- 46:38Speaker 4: That's good scoops. I feel like you turned down kids
- 46:41Speaker 4: all the time. What do you cruelty?
- 46:46Speaker 6: That's seven rule number seven? Don't let them let you
- 46:53Speaker 6: get nice?
- 46:54Speaker 5: Wow?
- 46:55Speaker 6: Wow?
- 46:56Speaker 5: Why do not?
- 46:56Speaker 3: Why not just for the end of this, we just
- 46:57Speaker 3: do the rest of the rules.
- 46:59Speaker 6: Oh okay, because there's three hundred of them, but we
- 47:02Speaker 6: can do the top ten.
- 47:03Speaker 4: I think we can throw them all out.
- 47:05Speaker 6: I think we.
- 47:07Speaker 5: Let's see as many as we can get.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Yeah eight, Rule number eight make them hot, Yeah, make
- 47:15Speaker 4: them hot real.
- 47:16Speaker 5: Rule number nine. That little simple rhyme to figure out
- 47:19Speaker 5: which late night host is best. We all know this.
- 47:21Speaker 5: Fallon is for pallin, Colbert is for the cold stare right, and.
- 47:26Speaker 3: Then of course that's a general public.
- 47:29Speaker 5: Cordon Cordon is for the warden, and Myers is for liars.
- 47:33Speaker 2: It's great so that we can all keep them all straight.
- 47:36Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, it's just like Indika and Stativa that way,
- 47:39Speaker 4: where you need the reminder constantly in the couch. Yeah, okay.
- 47:44Speaker 6: Cool Kilbourne is for milk porn addiction. Because we're buried
- 47:52Speaker 6: because we're good at our job.
- 47:54Speaker 5: You did that.
- 47:54Speaker 3: He's with the Disney Darlings.
- 47:57Speaker 6: Kibo came up on Disney.
- 48:00Speaker 5: I ask, I gotta ask, I gotta ask answer. Do
- 48:03Speaker 5: you know any inside scoop on if any of us
- 48:05Speaker 5: are on the not of your nice list from Santa?
- 48:07Speaker 3: Okay, this I gotta know.
- 48:11Speaker 6: I don't want to be controversial, but believe it or not,
- 48:15Speaker 6: he thinks you're doing the Lord's work, so you're all
- 48:17Speaker 6: on the nice list.
- 48:19Speaker 4: There's no way I could be on the nice list
- 48:21Speaker 4: after what I did. In college.
- 48:23Speaker 6: Well, uh, Santa's pretty fucked up all the time too.
- 48:27Speaker 6: In his memory, you can only remember what you did
- 48:29Speaker 6: exactly a year ago. That's so good from exactly a
- 48:33Speaker 6: year ago. Then you're good.
- 48:36Speaker 3: Wow, Well why don't we end on a little bit
- 48:38Speaker 3: of advice then if you let's uh, let's.
- 48:40Speaker 4: See any young PR people what we would.
- 48:42Speaker 3: Say to them. That feels good?
- 48:44Speaker 4: Oh, that's nice, like twelve interns.
- 48:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:47Speaker 3: Like my quick advice is actually rule ten, which is
- 48:52Speaker 3: make them bad, make them as bad as you can,
- 48:55Speaker 3: and if they're too bad, make them a little good.
- 49:00Speaker 3: So it's like basically bad bad boys are bad girls.
- 49:03Speaker 3: It's kind of what I do. It's a nice log
- 49:06Speaker 3: line for my industry. Okay, who's next?
- 49:08Speaker 5: If you're an author that just looking to be represented,
- 49:12Speaker 5: I would say my biggest advice is learn how to
- 49:16Speaker 5: dress yourself and learn how to do your hair. It's
- 49:20Speaker 5: so much easier if you come in knowing how to
- 49:22Speaker 5: do that. The amount of times that I've had to
- 49:24Speaker 5: literally lick my hand and pat Aaron Sorgan's head to
- 49:29Speaker 5: get his hair a certain way, it's like these guys
- 49:32Speaker 5: are just disheveled little shloves sitting in these rooms by
- 49:36Speaker 5: themselves and they come out. You know, they get sunburned
- 49:38Speaker 5: by the lights in the studios because they're so pale.
- 49:42Speaker 5: It's it's disgusting. So just learn how to be a
- 49:45Speaker 5: human being. If you're an author or a writer.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Marvin, I don't think licking your hand and touching his
- 49:50Speaker 4: foreheads doing much. That boy looks greasy.
- 49:53Speaker 5: I'm trying well, and it's hard because they won't touch him.
- 49:57Speaker 5: HMU won't touch these guys because they have a smell ordinance.
- 50:01Speaker 5: There's a certain smell. If you hit a certain level,
- 50:04Speaker 5: it's it's against the union to be touched. My makeup artists,
- 50:08Speaker 5: so it's what we deal with every day. This is
- 50:10Speaker 5: a little inside of my world. Just take care of yourself.
- 50:12Speaker 5: If you're a run people, don't do that.
- 50:14Speaker 7: My advice is not actually for publicist, but it is
- 50:18Speaker 7: for hummingbirds. Stay away from Rachel Ray's house. You don't
- 50:24Speaker 7: want to go anywhere near there. Trust me, the things
- 50:28Speaker 7: that she will do to you there. I'm a sister
- 50:34Speaker 7: seen everything, and these are crimes against nature, literally, So
- 50:40Speaker 7: just don't do it. If you're thinking all fly south
- 50:42Speaker 7: for the winter, fly southwest, okay, cut away from her
- 50:45Speaker 7: house in Houston and keep going.
- 50:48Speaker 2: That's my advice.
- 50:50Speaker 4: Credible I would I'd say, come folded, I'll be short
- 50:56Speaker 4: and sweet, Come volve.
- 50:58Speaker 6: I would have to say, if you don't mind, this
- 51:02Speaker 6: is directed towards any Disney darling looking to get into this. Uh,
- 51:07Speaker 6: I can show you the fame. Drop out of school kids.
- 51:11Speaker 2: Oh my god, all of our phones are going off
- 51:13Speaker 2: at once.
- 51:14Speaker 6: Do you hear that rumbling?
- 51:15Speaker 5: Yeah, it's seventeen years Hello, Oh my god, it's Houston.
- 51:23Speaker 4: To Oh God, from a snuggie.
- 51:28Speaker 2: Listen to me. Don't try Gianna's soup.
- 51:31Speaker 4: I don't know how to get a snuggy out of
- 51:33Speaker 4: a DUI.
- 51:34Speaker 6: My husband just sent me a divorce paper.
- 51:37Speaker 5: Drop the act, Drop the act, lemonee.
- 51:40Speaker 6: Can someone read this paper? I can't read it.
- 51:43Speaker 5: There's been artist on ars, artists and artists answering the question. Now,
- 51:46Speaker 5: that's why they call it show business. We'll see you
- 51:48Speaker 5: next week.
