Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: Hello, everyone.
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: Welcome back to another episode of Truth Be Told.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: I am your host, Mickey, and joining me today is my co-host, Bethany, and we are here to talk about the truth.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: And what that truth is, is the Word of God.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: We want to open up the Bible today and dive in and kind of jump back into where we were last week.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: So, what we were talking about last week is we want to know if you're thirsty.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: We want to know if you're you're desiring to have a relationship with God, if you're if you're if you're soul searching and seeking out who Jesus is, and just wanting and needing to have a desire to build a personal relationship.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: But the thing that Bethany Bethany and I have been talking about is um not only is salvation important, which is very important, but what also is important is just having an understanding and learning what we're doing and um the value that that that is brought to the table because there's so much more to just going to church and getting saved and then not having a relationship with Jesus.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: You're missing the whole entire boat.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: And excuse me, if that's happened to you, like it has to me.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Um as an example, when I got saved as a young girl, um, 10 years old, excited at Billy Graham Crusade, could not wait to get saved, could not wait to meet this Jesus that he was talking about.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Um it was all exciting.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: I it was the hype was all there, everything was there.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: You know, I felt the calling on my life at him.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: I still feel that calling.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: But the only thing that was missing was a little bit of discipleship.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: I wasn't, I wasn't led or directed in the way that I think that I should have been.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: And so we want to make sure that when we talk about salvation, we want to talk about what goes and what comes next with it.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: We don't want to just say, go get saved, and that's the end of it.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: There's more to it.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: We want to help you build a relationship with Jesus.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: We don't want to just tell you, hey, just you know, jump off the cliff and and figure it out for yourself because that's not who we are.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: So with um this episode today, we're gonna um continue on with where we started last week.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: And that episode was are you thirsty?
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: And we want to know if you are thirsty today.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: We want to know if you guys are ready to dive into the word.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Bethany has been working really hard on a lot of scripture.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: We have a lot to dive into today.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: So I'm not gonna talk too much, but I just want to ask you guys and want you to think about this.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: How thirsty are you for Jesus?
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: We want you to be thirsty.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Not only that, we just want you to have a good relationship with Jesus because when you have a good relationship with Jesus, that foundation, your life is just it's gonna be amazing.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: Um, the things that that that transpire.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: And so uh with that being said, let's say hello to Bethany.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Bethany, welcome in this morning.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: I'm glad you're here.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Great to be here and excited for this episode and future episodes as we um will probably make this a series, and so you will not want to miss um even one episode that we do.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: And so um, Mickey, if I may, I'd like to start in prayer and we can dive in.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Let's go for it.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: I'm ready.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: Dear Lord, I thank you for this opportunity to once again open your word and to discover what you want Christians to know, how you want us to live, not just waiting for eternity to really start living, but understanding that you have opportunities that you want us to be a part of.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: And so I pray that this episode would be uplifting, and we invite you to do a work, Lord, because you're the only one who can do a work in our lives, spiritually speaking, and so thank you for this opportunity.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: Thank you for those who are watching and listening, and thank you for what you will do in Jesus' name, amen.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: And so, like Mickey said, we will now continue on talking about are you thirsty?
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: And if you watched or listened to the last episode, we talked about you know being being thirsty as in regards to becoming a Christian.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: But now today and in um future episodes as well, continuing with the next episode in that we want to discuss so what happens after you become a Christian.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: I mean, what what are the benefits of becoming a Christian other than just eternal benefits?
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: Because you know, it would it would be easy if the Lord would just take us home to heaven once we became a Christian, but he doesn't do that, and he doesn't do that.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: One reason I believe is because then there would be the gospel would not have as much emphasis put on it or as much opportunity to spread.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: And so if you're a Christian right now and you're wondering, okay, so what's next?
- 7:05SPEAKER_02: What should I be doing to nurture my relationship with Jesus, which I do believe is the most important relationship that anyone can ever have.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: And when we think about it that way, and we think about the other relationships that we have, um if you're married, the relationship with your spouse, if you have children, the relationship with your children, grandparents, grandchildren, and so on.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: And even parent-child relationships, no matter how old your parents or you are just thinking about those relationships and how important they are to you.
- 8:23SPEAKER_02: Well, having a relationship with Jesus and with God to me at least, that's so far greater.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: Not to say that earthly relationships aren't important or aren't valuable, they are.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: And so just nurturing that most important relationship.
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: And in doing so, even in my experience of being a Christian, I was at the age of seven is when I became a Christian.
- 9:27SPEAKER_02: And you know, like Mickey, even at the age of ten, you know, having similar experiences.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: Um you know, having similar experiences and when we both became Christians, different circumstances, of course.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: Um but having that discipleship, understanding what does come next in relationship by being a Christian, and so we are going to look at some verses today that will hopefully help to just understand what the foundation of being a Christian actually means.
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: And so that building on that foundation.
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: And so let's start in Proverbs chapter nine and verse nine.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: Verse nine says, give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser.
- 11:17SPEAKER_02: Teach a just man, and he will increase learning.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: Now, if you are not very familiar with the terminology of the Bible in Proverbs 9 9, when it talks about he, it's referring to anyone, it's referring to mankind as a whole, it's not just referring to men.
- 12:08SPEAKER_02: So just wanted to point that out in case there's anyone listening or watching that is not yet that familiar with terminology of the Bible, and that is fine, you know.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: Becoming a Christian, you know, you don't have to know everything or know anything about the Bible.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: You don't have to be at a certain level before you become a Christian regarding the Bible or any of that, and so but notice in that verse the two classifications or categories first give instruction to a wise man and he will be yet wiser, and then the second teach a dress man and he will increase learning.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: So my question to you would be is that where you're at?
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: Are you craving instruction?
- 14:03SPEAKER_02: Are you in are you craving biblical learning to learn?
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: Or are you, you know, like okay, I I've become a Christian, I'm I've secured my spot in heaven, so now I can just go back to how I was living.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: Um if that's where you're at right now, I would lovingly encourage you to rethink because there is so much that God has promised Christians.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: There is so much in the relationship with God.
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: I mean we make you and I spent a whole series on prayer.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: And for me, prayer is natural.
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: It's it's what I do before I get up every morning, before I go to sleep at night, other times during the day.
- 15:55SPEAKER_02: And like Mickey has said of herself that, and I do this too, that we talk to God throughout the day.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: And it's it's such a joy and a blessing and a refreshment, and so that is one benefit of being a Christian that we have a lifeline.
- 16:30SPEAKER_02: We have a connection that is not bound by anything.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: Prayer is not bound by, you know, whether there is electricity or whether there is internet connection.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: The only thing prayer is bound by is what God wants it to be, and so that is one of the choice of being a Christian that no matter what and no matter when we can go back to God to prayer, and so just are you thirsty for instruction?
- 17:30SPEAKER_02: Are you thirsty for learning from God's word?
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: And so, Mickey, do you have any insights on this verse?
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I want to mention that when we talk about um it says give instruction to a wise man.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: This doesn't mean that God doesn't think we are wise.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: We are very wise.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: Um, when we're new Christians, um, as a new Christian, sometimes I've heard Christians say, Well, I don't I don't really understand, so um he must not be talking about me.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: I don't have the wisdom to know this.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: So I want you to understand when we're talking about instructing the wise, meaning that we all have an ability to learn.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: God gave us the ability to learn.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: And also when it talks about being righteous, the way you become righteous is through the through the learning, through the instruction.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: It's like when you go to school and the teacher teaches you right from wrong, or your parents teach you right from wrong, that's the instruction that brings you more wisdom in your life.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: Now you can be wise and you can make good decisions, or you can be unwise and not make good decisions.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: Um, and that goes to let's to being righteous or unrighteous.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: When you're making right decisions and you're doing the right thing, um or opposed to not doing the right thing.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: When we're talking about the scripture, we want to make sure that we want to instruct you, um, Bethany and myself as instructors, um, not um as like you know, we're gonna like you know, uh shove it down your throat, but we want to make sure that you understand that we want you to understand that you will be stronger and wiser when you take God's word in and you start learning it and you start meditating on it and you start getting the grips of it.
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: And as you increase your learning, because it says you it says he will increase in learning, as you increase your learning, you will also increase in learning.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: So I need you to understand that what that means.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: You're gonna increase what God is going to give you.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: And some of those increases are the promises that God has in the Bible for you, by the way.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: So as you're learning and you're sitting at the feet of Jesus and you're meditating on his word and you're you're in prayer, and you're working on your relationship with Jesus, God's going to increase you.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: He's gonna increase your faith, he's gonna increase your wisdom, and he's gonna increase your learning and your own instruction.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: So as you're learning, you'll you'll learn how to instruct as well.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, Bethany and I didn't get you know saved early on and then start instructing people.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: That's something we did not do.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: That would have been very foolish.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: Now we might have thought we had it all figured out when we were nine and ten years old, but we did not.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: So having that in mind, as new Christians, when you think of a newborn Christian, you think of a baby.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: And even if you're an adult and you become a Christian, um, think of yourself as a child, as an infant, um, needing to be nurtured and taught and kind of taken in and um instructed.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: Don't be afraid of the instruction.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: I used to remember being afraid of the instruction because I used to think, oh man, I'm gonna be such a disappointment.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna let people I'm gonna let people down, I'm gonna let God down.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: If I know that if I know that the the instruction and what to do and I don't do it, if I fall short, I'm gonna fail.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: God doesn't look at it like that.
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: We we look at it like that because of our fleshly being and the way the enemy wants us to think.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: But we don't need to think like that.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: We need to understand that God's gonna walk it walk through us.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Um think about um Meeshach and Abednego and what's the other guy's name?
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: Oh, come on.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: There's Meeshach and Abendigo and what's the other the third guy's name in the fire?
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: Shadrach.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I can't hear you for some reason.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: You're I don't hear you.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: Um, anyways, um they're in the fire.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: Now they're in a fire.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: And guess what?
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Jesus was with them the entire time.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: So when you're learning an instruction and you feel like you're just under fire, just remember those three guys in the Bible that Jesus is going to be with you the entire time as you're learning the instruction.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: You're not gonna be perfect, none of us are gonna be perfect.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: That's not what makes us righteous, by the way.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: Perfection is not righteousness.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: So I just want to clarify that because I used to I used to think that that's what righteousness meant was having to be perfect.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: And we don't have to be perfect, we just want He wants us to have a righteousness to our consciousness to what we're doing, how we're acting, how we're behaving, how are we treating people, how are we living our lives?
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: Are we gonna be perfect in every day?
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: No.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: Are we gonna make the mistakes?
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: Yes, we are.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: Are we gonna step into sin?
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: We are gonna step into sin.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: It says we're gonna sin up until the day we die.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: So we just have to be really careful and mindful and learn the instructions so that we can try to depart from that sin as much as possible.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: But that doesn't mean we're gonna be perfect in it.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: So I just want you to know as we're teaching you guys this, I don't want anybody to have the fear like I used to have as a kid and thinking that, oh my gosh, I'm gonna let God down, let Jesus down, you know.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: That's not the case at all.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: Just sit back and and and listen and learn and read and meditate and pray.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: And God is gonna open the door, God's gonna show you.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Um we're just gonna share the scripture with you, and then you know, God, you know, God does all the watering, he does all of the work.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: We don't do anything, we just give you the word of God.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: Um, and that's why we like to share it because Bethany and I both know firsthand what God can do.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: And we encourage everyone that has not had an experience with God to have an opportunity to experience who God really is.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: And whether it's whether it's something subtle or whether it's something um crazy and you know unfathomable.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: Um, because God is no respect for persons and He He lives in a supernatural realm that we can't even understand.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: There's so much power behind it.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: And also when Bethany was talking about prayer, I want you to understand them.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: Prayer is also power, it's not just a connection and a and a lifeline, and and you know, that it's there's power in prayer.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: When you're lining yourself up with the Father every single day, that increases power, the power in your prayer.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: And so think about that.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: When you're in line with the Holy Spirit, when you're in line with God, when you're in the Father, and when you're in line with Jesus, there is no more power on this earth than that power.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: And you gain that power through the power of prayer.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: So I definitely want to encourage you to do that.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: But okay, let's move on to our next scripture because I know we have a lot to go through.
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: I don't know we'll get through it all today, but let's see how far we can go.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: That's powerful insights there that we would be wise to remember and um, you know, even watch, listen to this episode again and again and again.
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: And so, um, yes, but so as we continue on here, I want to share some examples from the Bible of people who were in tune with God, and yet we will also notice that it wasn't necessarily right away.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: Um, it took time, and that's okay, you know.
- 25:23SPEAKER_02: Um God isn't upset with us if it takes time.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: He understands that it will take time, and yet he also has plans and purposes for our lives.
- 25:51SPEAKER_02: And so let's look at First Samuel chapter three and verse ten.
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: Now, this would be a chapter that I would encourage people to read for themselves, to study it for yourselves.
- 26:24SPEAKER_02: The entire Bible is that way, by the way.
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't say that to overwhelm you, I say that to encourage you to study it for yourself, allow the Holy Spirit to enlighten you in your own life and to be strengthened and encouraged.
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: And so first Samuel three verse ten.
- 27:10SPEAKER_02: And the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel.
- 27:21SPEAKER_02: Then Samuel answered, speak for thy servant hears.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: And you will want to go back to chapter three specifically to it more of the context of that verse.
- 27:49SPEAKER_02: But I just want to highlight from that verse that notice the Lord came to Samuel and it says, as at other times.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: So he had been coming to Samuel.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: Now, Samuel did not yet recognize that it was God coming to him.
- 28:25SPEAKER_02: You can read about that in the verses one through nine.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: But I find it interesting that God didn't give up on Samuel, and God does not give up on anyone.
- 28:51SPEAKER_02: Whether or not they are a Christian, he does not give up.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: Now, Satan loves to tempt us that God has given up on us, but we know that Satan is the father of lies.
- 29:14SPEAKER_02: Like it says in John 84.
- 29:20SPEAKER_02: And so I do find that encouraging that God did not give up on Samuel.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: And Samuel did come to an understanding that God was reaching out to him.
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: And if you are a Christian, I do believe that God is reaching out to you too, because I know for myself, yes, God does speak to me, through the Holy Spirit, and it's it's interesting to see how he speaks.
- 30:22SPEAKER_02: Not you know, not in an audible voice.
- 30:27SPEAKER_02: Now, sometimes I wish he would speak in an audible voice, but he uses the Holy Spirit, and so that that can be should be an encouragement to every Christian who is listening, that God does not give up, He keeps coming not to annoy us, not to, you know, hound us or whatever.
- 31:15SPEAKER_02: But just as we talked about when he came to Adam in Genesis three, after Adam had sinned, and so be encouraged, be strengthened that God doesn't give up, and he knows what each of us need, he knows when we need it, and so Mickey, do you have thoughts on this?
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: Um, not really.
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: I think what you're saying is on point, and I think that it is important to recognize that Jesus does um he does come to us.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: Um sometimes we always think we have to go to him, we have to go to him, we have to go to him.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: Um and we do need to go, we do need to go to him, but Jesus also comes to us.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: He knows sometimes he shows up when we we don't even realize when he's showing up.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: And um sometimes he has shown up and and I didn't even recognize that it was him that you know showed up.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: So um we we don't sometimes recognize it, but he does come to us at as at different times in our lives, and he works with us, and so I think you're you're on point with that whole entire scripture of what you're saying.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: I think it's good.
- 32:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:58SPEAKER_02: So now as we've looked at Samuel.
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: Now let's look at another example, and that is Jesus' own mother when he was here on us.
- 33:19SPEAKER_02: Mary.
- 33:21SPEAKER_02: Now there are several Mary's in the Bible, and this one we are talking about now is the mother of Jesus.
- 33:38SPEAKER_02: Before Jesus was born, and so in Luke chapter one and verses twenty-six through verse thirty-nine, that whole passage there.
- 34:08SPEAKER_02: I would encourage you to read that and study that.
- 34:14SPEAKER_02: Um, I will just highlight a few of the verses in that passage.
- 34:25SPEAKER_02: Starting with verse twenty six, and in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee named Nazareth.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: So we see who in this verse who the angel was that was sent, and it was Gabriel.
- 34:58SPEAKER_02: And now looking at verse 29, and when she saw him, she was troubled at his scene, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation there should be.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: Now, I find that very interesting, and maybe it's not as important as I think it should be, but when it says there in verse 29 that she cast in her mind, to me that it's talking about okay, what what was she thinking?
- 36:04SPEAKER_02: What when she saw Gabriel and she heard what he was saying, what was she thinking?
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: And that does make me curious and wonder what are we thinking about what are Christians thinking about?
- 36:40SPEAKER_02: Are we submitting to God and resisting Satan?
- 36:52SPEAKER_02: Like it says in James four seven, which is a command.
- 37:03SPEAKER_02: Um, or are we so cumbered about with everything that's going on in our individual lives, you know, our schedules and all of that, the hardships that we're going through, or anything like that.
- 37:34SPEAKER_02: Are we so cumbered by those things that our minds are could I say miracle rounds of just fear and dread and all that because we're not submitting to God like we should.
- 38:12SPEAKER_02: We're not casting down those thoughts that come against God, and so I verse twenty-nine is just interesting to me, and so let's notice a few others in that passage there and the angel said unto her, fear not married, for thou hast found favor with God.
- 39:04SPEAKER_02: And this verse probably could be part of another episode at some point.
- 39:15SPEAKER_02: But notice what Gabriel said.
- 39:21SPEAKER_02: He not only said fear not, but he said fear not, Mary.
- 39:31SPEAKER_02: He called her by name.
- 39:34SPEAKER_02: He made it personal.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: That is so encouraging that God and his angels know each of us by name.
- 40:01SPEAKER_02: And I don't know about you, but there have been times that I have sensed those personal touches from God, and it it is reassuring to me.
- 40:25SPEAKER_02: And then what Gabriel says on favor with God.
- 40:44SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 40:46SPEAKER_02: Um like I say, I won't spend too much time on this because I think this can certainly be at least part of another episode.
- 41:00SPEAKER_02: But to find favor with God, Christians, fellow Christians, that should be already there, and it it I don't want it to sound like oh, it's something I have to achieve, or you know, do all this struggle to find favor.
- 41:35SPEAKER_02: No, I don't think that it's that way at all.
- 41:46SPEAKER_02: And so two more verses in that passage verse thirty-seven for with God nothing shall be impossible.
- 42:06SPEAKER_02: And then verse thirty-eight and Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it unto me according to thy word.
- 42:25SPEAKER_02: And the angel departed from her.
- 42:53SPEAKER_02: Have it in this modern age of technology, maybe have it as wallpaper on your phone on your device to remind you constantly of it, and then when Mary said, Be unto me according to thy word.
- 43:38SPEAKER_02: I do believe that's what God wants each one of us.
- 43:46SPEAKER_02: That when he says something, there's no hesitation.
- 43:56SPEAKER_02: There's no well.
- 44:01SPEAKER_02: How is this gonna work?
- 44:03SPEAKER_02: And yes, I think God does know that we will have questions on things, but I think we do need to be careful not to allow those questions to become part of Satan's trail.
- 44:33SPEAKER_02: And so Mickey, is do you have any thoughts on this passage?
- 44:41SPEAKER_00: Um, I have a thought on the earlier passage.
- 44:46SPEAKER_00: Um let me go back to here.
- 44:52SPEAKER_00: Where it says, um, we're talking about and cast in her mind um what manner of salutations this should be.
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found favor with God.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: I think a lot of times, like I mentioned before, that we have fear um in God, but we need to remember that we should have uh we we don't have to have fear.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: Um God, God is like a father to us, He's a father figure, he loves us like a father.
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: Um, yes, we need to be, you know, you know, in obedience and righteous and all of that, but he doesn't want us to fear him in a terrifying way.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: That's why I think I love that he says, you know, the angel says, you know, don't be afraid, don't, you know, fear not.
- 45:37SPEAKER_01: Um, because you already have favor with God.
- 45:39SPEAKER_01: We all have favor with God if we want it, if we want to have it.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: Um, so we have to keep that in mind as well.
- 45:50SPEAKER_01: And then down to the other scripture, um, oops, I went too far.
- 45:55SPEAKER_01: Oh, excuse me.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: Um, talking about um um for with Godhing shall be impossible.
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: If we think about that, we also we hear people say, um, you know, um none you know, or what I can't, I'm trying to think of the other phase phrase right now.
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: It's not coming to me.
- 46:16SPEAKER_01: But anyway, it's similar to this one.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: We say it a lot.
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: Um, but when we think about nothing is impossible, it's not impossible for God, but it can be impossible for us.
- 46:26SPEAKER_01: But with God, it's possible.
- 46:28SPEAKER_01: The things that happen in life, we tie we tend to try to do things on our own, and then we blame God because we think that it was impossible.
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: And I've done this, I'm guilty.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: I'm so guilty of this myself because I would have thought, man, you know, I'm trying to do this and and and not realizing I'm doing it going alone without God.
- 46:47SPEAKER_01: Because with God it's possible, but with myself alone in it, I'm not it's not gonna be possible.
- 46:53SPEAKER_01: We can't do everything on our own.
- 46:55SPEAKER_01: God says it says right here.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: It says, for with God, nothing is impossible.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: It doesn't say with me or you or your best friend or your mom or your dad or whatever.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: Um, it says with God.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: And we just really need to keep that in mind.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: Um that when we're going through stuff and we're thinking about our relationship with God and we're building that relationship, um, God can do anything he wants.
- 47:23SPEAKER_01: Anything he wants at all.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: Now we necessarily cannot do that, but if we lean on God, and God's gonna know what's best for us more than what we know what's best for us.
- 47:33SPEAKER_01: And sometimes his answer is no, by the way.
- 47:37SPEAKER_01: Sometimes we don't like that.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: We think, well, no, it's just he's being impossible.
- 47:40SPEAKER_01: No, he knows what's best for us.
- 47:42SPEAKER_01: So we gotta really, you know, like you said, this this this chapter could be a chapter for another episode.
- 47:48SPEAKER_01: We could actually dive into this quite a bit and um break this down more, but I don't want to do that today.
- 47:53SPEAKER_01: But I do think that we need to keep in mind when we're talking about God that we can come up against things that are impossible, but with God, we won't.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: We won't.
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: He can help us get through anything.
- 48:07SPEAKER_01: So I just want y'all to I want that to encourage you guys that God makes things possible.
- 48:13SPEAKER_01: It may not even be in our timing, it may not be in our time, and it may not be instantly, it may not be right now, like in Samuel.
- 48:20SPEAKER_01: It's not an instant thing.
- 48:22SPEAKER_01: We don't just call out and say, Jesus, I want this right now, and Jesus jumps up and gives it to us.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: You know, we're not we're that's not the kind of relationship we're we're we're supposed to desire with God, by the way.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: Um, God blesses us in the waiting period, kind of like the 40 years in the wilderness.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: He really does bless you in the waiting.
- 48:44SPEAKER_01: You have to be willing to wait for it.
- 48:46SPEAKER_01: It's not an instant thing.
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: It can be.
- 48:49SPEAKER_01: He has done things instantly, but if if we're expecting him to do things immediately, um, I would don't hold your breath on that because that's not the kind of God that we serve.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: And I think sometimes we put God in a in a in a box or in a diagram and we have expectations of God when we're not even meeting the expectations he has of us.
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: And how dare we put that expectation on God when we aren't even scratching the surface in our obedience and our faithfulness and our prayer and our dedication to God.
- 49:21SPEAKER_01: And yet we're we sometimes go to God with our demands and our commands.
- 49:25SPEAKER_01: And we're like, we want it now.
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: We need to be very careful and we need to be very diligent when we're we're focusing on what it is that we're wanting.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: Because God can do anything, and it is possible for God.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: And if he doesn't do it, there's a reason he doesn't do it.
- 49:43SPEAKER_01: So I just want you to understand that because some people are like, well, if it's possible for God, if if if it's possible with God, then why isn't he doing it?
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: And I've heard people say, why, why, why?
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: God knows what's best.
- 49:55SPEAKER_01: We do not know what's best.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: Think of an ant pile.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: You know how the ants they just circle around.
- 50:04SPEAKER_01: Have you ever watched a trail of ants?
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: And you if you drop something right in the trail, at first the ants kind of go, ah, what do I do?
- 50:12SPEAKER_01: You know, they kind of start scurrying around until they figure out how to get around the rock to get back into formation or get around whatever is blocking them.
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: Um Jesus knows what that block is in our life.
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: We don't.
- 50:24SPEAKER_01: We know what we're facing, we know how He knows how big, He knows how big the obstacle is that we're trying to get around.
- 50:30SPEAKER_01: We may not know.
- 50:31SPEAKER_01: All we see is there's a stone in our way and it's a it's a wall, and we can't get past it.
- 50:35SPEAKER_01: We're just stuck at it.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: We don't know to go left, we don't know to go right, we don't know to go under, over, whatever.
- 50:41SPEAKER_01: God knows these things.
- 50:43SPEAKER_01: He knows the things that we don't know, he knows the unseen things.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: So we need to keep that in mind as as we looking at the scripture.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: So I hope that's helpful and I hope that's encouraging for some of you guys.
- 51:05SPEAKER_02: Um one more example that I want to share, and understand that these three examples that I share are not the only ones in the Bible.
- 51:24SPEAKER_02: And so that that is another encouragement to study for yourself and to see how God works in your own life through these various um people in the Bible.
- 51:46SPEAKER_02: So now we're gonna look at another Mary, the sister of Lazarus and Martha.
- 52:01SPEAKER_02: And we go to Luke chapter ten, verses thirty eight through forty-two talk about that instance.
- 52:23SPEAKER_02: What I want to bring out to your attention is Mary's response.
- 52:37SPEAKER_02: Mary's response was to sit at Jesus' feet and listen to him.
- 52:47SPEAKER_02: No.
- 52:48SPEAKER_02: Martha was comfortable.
- 52:53SPEAKER_02: She was trying to do everything except the most important thing.
- 53:18SPEAKER_02: Um let's notice starting in verse thirty-eight.
- 53:39SPEAKER_02: As they went that he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
- 53:54SPEAKER_02: Verse 39.
- 53:56SPEAKER_02: And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet and heard his word.
- 54:08SPEAKER_02: Verse 40.
- 54:10SPEAKER_02: But Martha was cumbed about Martha's serving and came to him and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone with her.
- 54:32SPEAKER_02: Therefore that she helped me Verse forty-one And Jesus answered and said unto her.
- 55:08SPEAKER_02: And Mary hath chosen that good word which shall not be taken away from her.
- 55:21SPEAKER_02: So we see there's two sisters.
- 55:35SPEAKER_02: One Martha was worried about.
- 55:42SPEAKER_02: No busy what was she busy with?
- 55:56SPEAKER_02: And then you have Mary who said Jesus we and heard him.
- 56:05SPEAKER_02: And Jesus said to Martha Mary had chosen the good part, the needful thing.
- 56:36SPEAKER_02: Got me to wonder how many Christians today are like that.
- 56:51SPEAKER_02: They're comfortable, much serving, and yet they're neglecting the need for apart.
- 57:14SPEAKER_02: And how many Christians are like Mary, who they're sitting at Jesus' feet.
- 57:21SPEAKER_02: And today that looks like being in God's word.
- 57:28SPEAKER_02: Not only reading his word, but studying it.
- 57:34SPEAKER_02: No, devouring it.
- 57:38SPEAKER_02: Having a thirst for it.
- 57:41SPEAKER_02: Being so thirsty for it that you can't wait to get back in it.
- 57:50SPEAKER_02: And personally, that is where I'm at.
- 57:58SPEAKER_02: I have such a thirst and such a hunger for God's word that I cannot wait until I can get in it.
- 58:13SPEAKER_02: Not just for myself, but for doing things like this and my own YouTube channel and all that sharing.
- 58:29SPEAKER_02: And so do we have?
- 58:34SPEAKER_02: Are we?
- 58:37SPEAKER_02: Are we Martha?
- 58:40SPEAKER_02: Humbered about.
- 58:43SPEAKER_02: We're thinking we were doing everything we should.
- 58:50SPEAKER_02: And yet maybe we were missing that meanful part.
- 58:58SPEAKER_02: Or are you like Mary?
- 59:01SPEAKER_02: Who is sitting at Jesus' feet?
- 59:07SPEAKER_02: No.
- 59:10SPEAKER_02: Remember though.
- 59:13SPEAKER_02: Just because Mary was sitting at Jesus' feet did not mean that she was neglecting her other responsibilities.
- 59:26SPEAKER_02: Because it does tell us in chapter eleven.
- 59:40SPEAKER_02: Those first few verses, it does tell us what Mary did.
- 59:48SPEAKER_02: Because of her love and admiration for Jesus.
- 59:58SPEAKER_02: I encourage you to study it for yourself.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_02: And so Mary did have a balance.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_02: She served.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_02: She knew she should.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_02: And yet she also took word in that needful thing.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_02: And I do believe Jesus was trying to get Martha to that point to have that balance.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_02: And so I I encourage you.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_02: Don't neglect the needful part of nurturing the most important relationship.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_02: Every day.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_01: One thing I love about this story is it's one of my favorite stories, Mary Martha.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_01: Um, there's a lot to it, and there's a lot that can be dove into.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_01: But one thing I love about it is Mary understands that even though there's things that need to be done, she understands the importance of sitting and being still for the moment.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_01: And sometimes we forget to do that.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_01: We we we continually think in our busyness and our busy lives and our busy schedule and our busy routine and our busy jobs and our busy, busy, busy, busy.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_01: How often do we even neglect our own family because we don't act like Mary did in this story?
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_01: Not just Jesus that gets neglected.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_01: If if we're a busybody, I think of Martha as probably not having a real connection, a real strong relationship with others around her because she's so busy tending, tending to everything that needs to be done, that she's kind of missing out on something.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_01: That that real important that that connection between people per se.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_01: And um myself being a Martha most of my life, just always wanted because I always felt like the more I did, the more I'd be pleasing to people.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_01: But what I found is that it took me away from people because I didn't spend time with them.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_01: I did things for them.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_01: And my daughter told me one time, which really helped me actually as an adult.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_01: She was older.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_01: And I remember um her being at work, working, you know, working two jobs, and I was cleaning the whole house, just getting everything done.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_01: All the kids' rooms, all the laundry, I mean, everything, just getting it all done, you know, because I like I like things to be kind of tidy.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_01: I'm a little OCD.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_01: She's not.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_01: I am.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_01: And so I remember her coming home, and you know, you kind of want somebody to walk in and be like, oh wow, you did this, this, this, this, this, and and and acknowledge it, right?
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_01: And give you a little bit of compliment, at least a thank you, right?
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_01: Because sometimes we have that expectation, well, I'm gonna do this, but then we have an expectation of wanting something in return.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_01: Jesus doesn't want anything in return.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_01: He just wants our time.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_01: And my daughter said this to me.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_01: She said, you know, and she's she's like, um, and I was like, well, did you notice I cleaned the house?
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_01: She's like, Yeah, I noticed.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_01: I said, Well, you didn't say anything.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_01: She's like, Well, nobody asked you to clean the house.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_01: I was like, What?
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_01: What do you mean?
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_01: I go, you know, and that kind of it made me really see something to me, you know, and she was right.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_01: She didn't ask me to do anything for her.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_01: She was like, Mom, whether you clean the house or not, I'm gonna love you the same regardless.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_01: Whether you work all day and clean the house or whether I come home in the house isn't clean.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_01: You know, and you know, and so it was really an eye-opener because I feel like that's a Mary Martha moment in this story.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_01: It really does.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_01: And I think Jesus sees it that way.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_01: Jesus knows the house needs to be cleaned and things need to be done, but he also knows how to put time in perspective and time in place.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_01: And we often don't do that.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_01: We do not delegate our time wisely.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_01: We waste time.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_01: We are very wasteful people.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_01: And I feel like we waste more time trying to get stuff done.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_01: I remember I had a house inspection one time for my daycare, and I, you know, I knew it was coming and it comes every year, and everything has to be perfect, like perfect, right?
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_01: Everything's got to be spotless, on you know, on point.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_01: I don't want, I don't want one comment made when they get here.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_01: And I will spend a whole entire week pulling my hair out, just stressing over it, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, and and just making everything perfect.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_01: Not that I don't clean anyway, but I do, but I was just overly cleaning, just so worried about that inspection.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_01: And they came in, they're here for like 10 minutes, and half the stuff I cleaned, they didn't even look at.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh my gosh, they didn't even notice it.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_01: You know, and I spent all my energy and all my time and all my exertion on something that was not necessary because I was worrying about it.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_01: I was worried about what somebody else would think instead of you know feeling like I was adequate enough that I was already meaning.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_01: The need.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_01: So Jesus wants to meet our needs and He wants us to sit at His feet and He wants us just take a break.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_01: It's okay, you could take a break.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_01: I know people that work and work and work and work and they don't take a break.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, take a break.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_01: It's allowed.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_01: You're allowed to take a break.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_01: And it took me years to, you know, start doing this because I've always been a busybody.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_01: I've always been, I'm a multitasker.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_01: It's it's in my nature.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_01: And I I I really do know how to get things done quickly, but I also forgot how to take the time and sit and enjoy the people that I want to be with, you know, and be like, you know what, that can wait.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_01: I can do that tomorrow.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_01: I want to spend time with you today.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_01: And I've done that.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_01: I do that now.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_01: Now that I'm older, I do that more and more and more.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh, you know what?
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_01: I can do that laundry tomorrow.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go spend the day with my aunt, or I'm gonna go spend the day at the store with my daughter, or I'm gonna go take my daughter or my grandkids out on an outing.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_01: Because all the things that are gonna be there are still gonna be there when you get back.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_01: They're not going anywhere.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_01: You can still do them later.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_01: So we need to remember that sometimes we need to spend time with Jesus, and it's so meaningful.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_01: You get so much from it.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_01: So as we go into closing with this episode today, I think it's important that you guys remember and keep in mind that sitting at the feet of Jesus is the best place you could ever be, not the worst.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_01: And even though Martha was busy trying to please Jesus and Mary and trying to get things done, Jesus was trying to explain to Mary or Martha that that it wasn't necessary in that moment to be done right then and there.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_01: It's okay to stop and take a break.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_01: Kind of like the expression, stop and smell the roses.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_01: That's kind of how I feel like Jesus feels when we just we get up and we go on and we forget to pray or we don't do this and we leave Jesus on the shelf.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_01: It kind of makes me think of that that that phrase, you know, stop and smell the roses once in a while.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_01: They're in full bloom.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_01: Why are you not stopping and smelling them?
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_01: They're wonderful.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_01: Take the time.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_01: Jesus wants us to take that time.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_01: He values that time more than you have in a cleaner house.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_01: Are you you making more money?
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_01: Are you getting everything done perfectly?
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_01: He values your time more than anything.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_01: And we need to value his too, and each other's, one another's.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_01: It's important.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_01: And I really believe that that that the story is really emphasizing this.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_01: And even though Martha's complaining and Mary is not helping, Mary, Mary knows right where she needs to be because she's paying attention.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_01: Martha's not paying attention, she's too busy doing other things.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_01: How often are we doing that?
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_01: How often are we too busy?
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_01: I'm busy all the time.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_01: Not so much as I used to be.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_01: Um I'm still busy, but I now I know when to stop.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_01: And you know, you know what?
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_01: I need to spend time with Jesus.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_01: I gotta put my worship music on.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_01: I gotta spend my time with Jesus.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_01: Because I feel when I don't have Jesus in my life, I feel empty actually.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_01: I don't know about anybody else, but I feel like I'm missing something that day.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_01: I feel like something's like something's wrong.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_01: It's kind of like when you skip a meal and you're like, wait, I didn't eat breakfast this morning.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_01: It's kind of like the same thing.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_01: Like I didn't have my Jesus today.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_01: So I mean, hopefully, as new, as people that are new Christians, they'll get to the point where they just just have that thirst, that knowledge, and that desire to want to have that, to wake up and want to spend time with Jesus instead of, oh, I gotta wake up and go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_01: Give yourself time.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_01: Even if you have to wake up 10 or 15 minutes early, it's okay.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_01: Make the time, it's worth it.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_01: And God will bless you for it.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_01: And the promises will come, I promise you, they will.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_01: So, with that being said, Bethany, um, do you have anything else you want to say before we start wrapping up?
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_01: We're running out of time.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_02: Um, well, one more verse to um just leave us with to think about and to really consider, you know, how important is our time with God?
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_02: You know, are we like we've said on this episode already, are we so busy that we're not having that time every day?
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_02: Um one final verse in Jeremiah Chapter fifteen verse.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_02: The word of God had been somewhat lacking in Jeremiah's time.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_02: And so verses came really sheds a light on just how valuable Jeremiah considered the Bible.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_02: And back then, obviously, they did not have the entire Bible like we do now.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_02: And so Verse 16.
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_02: Thy words were found, and I did eat them, and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart.
- 1:12:28SPEAKER_02: For I for I am called by thy name, O Lord.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_02: O Lord God of hosts.
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_02: And so for Jeremiah to say that let's really consider that.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_02: Do we desire to nurture our relationship with God as much as Jeremiah did?
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_02: His relationship with God was the joy and rejoicing of his heart.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_02: Jeremiah's heart.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_02: Can we say that of our relationships if we're a Christian think about that?
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_02: Really consider that.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_02: And at some point, I think we will have an episode where we talk about the context of that verse to give an understanding of just how important that verse really is.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_02: And so I encourage you that's build on that foundation.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_02: If you are a Christian, be in God's word, nurture your relationship with him every day.
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_02: Because that will only encourage you and strengthen you and empower you.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_02: Because the cares of this world they're not getting any better.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_02: And Satan is alive, he's well, he's pushing so much on us.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_02: We have to be obedient to James 4.7.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_02: Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_02: And so let's have a thirst for God's word.
- 1:15:21SPEAKER_02: Let's have a hunger for God's word that surpasses not again, not neglecting our daily responsibilities.
- 1:15:36SPEAKER_02: But making sure we are nurturing our most important relationship is of being a Christian.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_02: And that is with God.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_02: And so looking forward to the next episode, and that will be um a continuation of this in some form.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_02: Um just you know, just again laying that foundation of okay.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_02: You're a Christian now what comes next because I strongly believe that God wants to bless each and every Christian here and now.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_02: Not just waiting for eternity.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_02: And so are we thirsty?
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_02: Are we hungry for God's word?
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_01: I think that's really good.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_01: I think we need to really, really ask ourselves, um, where are we at?
- 1:17:09SPEAKER_01: Are we at a crossroads?
- 1:17:11SPEAKER_01: Are we um sitting on the fence?
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_01: Are we in the gray area?
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_01: We need to be very careful where we're sitting.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_01: And, you know, the word says in Revelation not to be lukewarm.
- 1:17:25SPEAKER_01: Um, is to be either hot or cold, but not lukewarm because, you know, God will just spew us out of his mouth.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_01: And so it's important to know like where you are at in your relationship.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_01: And the only reason why Bethany and I are encouraging and trying to um teach the word is because we want everyone to understand that God's word has so much power behind it.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_01: And when you start learning it for yourself, you start reading it, and you start meditating on it, God can actually use that to your benefit.
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_01: Like Bethany said in the beginning, what are the benefits?
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_01: There are so many benefits you have no idea.
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_01: There's healing.
- 1:18:08SPEAKER_01: You you you can seek out healing, you could seek out comfort, you could seek out um relationships.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_01: There's so many things that come with having a relationship with Jesus that it's un, it's unimaginable.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_01: You can't even imagine all of it.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_01: That's how how vital it is to think about your relationship with Jesus.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_01: As a new Christian, I'm happy you're a new Christian.
- 1:18:33SPEAKER_01: Um, if you are new, you know, um, I'm excited for you because it's it's only going to get better for you from here on out.
- 1:18:40SPEAKER_01: That's not to say the enemy is not gonna come and tantalize you.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_01: So be on the lookout for for the enemy because he's lurking everywhere.
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_01: But um there's good and bad in all in in all over the world.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_01: You know, whether you're Christian or not, there's good and bad.
- 1:18:55SPEAKER_01: Um there's there's evil among us all around.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_01: We just have to choose what we want to participate in and be careful of it.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_01: And the more we sit with Jesus, the more he guides us into that that that righteous obedience that we're supposed to walk in.
- 1:19:11SPEAKER_01: So as we close out prayer today, I just want to encourage you guys.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_01: If you're not thirsty, I just hope that you get thirsty.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_01: I hope that we're we're uh dangling the carrot, so to speak, that that you'll want to get you'll want to get a drink from the well.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_01: The well, the woman that went to the well.
- 1:19:30SPEAKER_01: That water was not the same water that she went to get that day.
- 1:19:35SPEAKER_01: We want everyone to have that water.
- 1:19:37SPEAKER_01: And um, we want our cups to be overflowing.
- 1:19:40SPEAKER_01: So um let's go into prayer and I just encourage you to um watch this episode, read the scripture, look it up for yourself, and just meditate on it, see what God does through it.
- 1:19:52SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:19:53SPEAKER_01: So let's pray.
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_01: Father God, Lord, we thank you for this day.
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_01: We thank you for this episode, Lord.
- 1:19:57SPEAKER_01: I thank you for Bethany and her diligence and her time that she she puts out to to help us with these studies, Lord, and that she brings your word and and uh breaks them down so that we can understand what it is that you want us to learn, God.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_01: And we just thank you so much for for her obedience and her faithfulness to you, God.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_01: And Lord, I thank you for this podcast, for everyone that's listening, and I just pray that your word is effective, Lord, um, and that it just um it just holds so much merit in people's lives that we just want to crave it and we desire it and we thirst for it more, Lord.
- 1:20:29SPEAKER_01: Not only just your word, Lord, but you but the relationship that we want to have with you.
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_01: And we just want to have have that relationship to where we're really close, Lord.
- 1:20:37SPEAKER_01: We want to be like Mary.
- 1:20:38SPEAKER_01: Help us to be diligent and sit at Jesus' feet, Lord.
- 1:20:42SPEAKER_01: We just ask that you just watch over us and bless us this week as we go through our daily lives, our daily routines, that we just help us to gain some clarity and some focusedness and and not be so distracted by everything that we think we have to get done, Lord.
- 1:20:56SPEAKER_01: Help us to come to a quiet place where we can just sit at Jesus' feet for for even a moment, if if if only a moment, at least that, Lord.
- 1:21:07SPEAKER_01: I just I just ask that you encourage everyone, Lord, and and um you just watch over and protect everyone, keep everyone's family safe, Lord.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_01: We just thank you for this episode, this day.
- 1:21:16SPEAKER_01: And we just love you.
- 1:21:17SPEAKER_01: In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
- 1:21:19SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 1:21:20SPEAKER_01: With that being said, that was wonderful.
- 1:21:22SPEAKER_01: That was a great episode.
- 1:21:23SPEAKER_01: Um, we will be doing another episode um because that we are turning this into a series.
- 1:21:29SPEAKER_01: And I think it's great because um we just want you all to have the desire to thirst Jesus.
- 1:21:36SPEAKER_01: And um, Jesus is the only one.
- 1:21:38SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say this in closing, Jesus is the only one that will quench any thirst that you do have.
- 1:21:44SPEAKER_01: There's nothing out there in the world that will quench your thirst the way Jesus will.
- 1:21:50SPEAKER_01: So that's why Bethany and I desire for you to get thirsty.
- 1:21:55SPEAKER_01: Because when you get thirsty, when you get thirsty for Jesus, you go after Jesus, and when he starts quenching that thirst, it's an amazing quench.
- 1:22:02SPEAKER_01: You're you're you'll just you'll just you'll just be in awe over it.
- 1:22:06SPEAKER_01: So we just want to send you blessings and lots of love.
- 1:22:08SPEAKER_01: Bethany, thank you again for a great episode.
- 1:22:11SPEAKER_01: And to everyone listening, we hope that you take care.
- 1:22:14SPEAKER_01: And again, this is another great episode of Truth Be Told.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_01: Don't forget to like, follow, and share us.
- 1:22:18SPEAKER_01: And y'all have a great and blessed day.
- 1:22:20SPEAKER_01: So take care.
