- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to the Jags am practice Day eleven. I think
- 0:19Speaker 1: it's a counting correctly somewhere along those lines. Diaguar's training
- 0:23Speaker 1: camp well underway. We're finally getting that steamy Jacksonville weather
- 0:26Speaker 1: in the past couple of days. Hi, Donnie Stephens, Brian
- 0:29Speaker 1: Sex and John Osier here with you today. We're going
- 0:31Speaker 1: over some of the big things from last week. We're
- 0:33Speaker 1: with you on Thursday. We're coming back a couple.
- 0:35Speaker 2: More times throughout the week now and we want.
- 0:37Speaker 1: To tell you what's been going on. So big thing
- 0:39Speaker 1: number one is gonna beat chop Wood carry water. Of course,
- 0:41Speaker 1: Parker Washington is always a story in training camp, but
- 0:44Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence talked about their connection and why it works
- 0:47Speaker 1: so well.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Just consistency. I mean, the same guy every day. We
- 0:52Speaker 3: might not connect on every rep, but it's that dialogue
- 0:56Speaker 3: and the communication every single time. And you know what
- 0:58Speaker 3: you're gonna get from them if you talk about we
- 1:01Speaker 3: had a rep. I don't know if you guys saw
- 1:02Speaker 3: the deep shot today and we threw it in the
- 1:05Speaker 3: routes on air right before it and I told him
- 1:08Speaker 3: to hold this hang. I'm gonna throw out there, and
- 1:09Speaker 3: I kind of missed the throw a little bit and
- 1:10Speaker 3: he man made a good catch on the sideline, and
- 1:11Speaker 3: then we got the same exact rep in team. He
- 1:13Speaker 3: ran it the same exact way, and I gave him
- 1:16Speaker 3: a good thrower we could run under it. So it's
- 1:17Speaker 3: just little things like that where he's just really dependable.
- 1:20Speaker 3: When you talk about something, he knows what to do,
- 1:22Speaker 3: he knows what to expect, and you can trust him
- 1:24Speaker 3: and he just keeps showing up every day.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Dependable, consistent.
- 1:27Speaker 1: These are all things you want to hear about your
- 1:29Speaker 1: wide receiver, Parker Washington.
- 1:31Speaker 2: When are they gonna get the deal done?
- 1:32Speaker 4: Ryan?
- 1:33Speaker 5: If there's a player John having a better training camp,
- 1:36Speaker 5: I don't know who it is. I mean, he was
- 1:37Speaker 5: all over the Pad McAfee show on ESPN the other day.
- 1:40Speaker 5: I'll talk about a five foot nine receiver who came
- 1:43Speaker 5: here as a sixth round pick, who has crafted himself
- 1:46Speaker 5: into perhaps the best offensive threat this team has. He's
- 1:51Speaker 5: had a tremendous camp. The problem for the Jaguars is
- 1:54Speaker 5: is that, well the time receivers are all of a
- 1:57Speaker 5: sudden really expensive. Say Flower, it's got a big deal
- 2:00Speaker 5: in Baltimore, and as they're trying to close in on
- 2:03Speaker 5: the details on this one. The number just keeps going.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Up well, and Parker is sort of like erosion right
- 2:11Speaker 4: where he's become one of the better players on this
- 2:13Speaker 4: team almost without you noticing it. And I don't really
- 2:18Speaker 4: know what day or what game or what you know,
- 2:22Speaker 4: moments you noticed it, but all of a sudden your
- 2:24Speaker 4: house is gone, right?
- 2:25Speaker 1: Is so.
- 2:28Speaker 4: All of a sudden without every day he shows up
- 2:33Speaker 4: and now all of a sudden, maybe he's one of
- 2:36Speaker 4: the best players. And I mean there's Trevor and then
- 2:39Speaker 4: there's Parker. In terms of offensive weapons on this team.
- 2:43Speaker 4: I don't doubt for a minute that it's going to
- 2:45Speaker 4: get done at some point. I think the main problem
- 2:49Speaker 4: is he has never had a thousand yard receiving season.
- 2:53Speaker 4: He's never had that huge number season. But you watch
- 2:57Speaker 4: him in practice and you know that he has a
- 2:59Speaker 4: chance to be that guy, and you think he's going
- 3:01Speaker 4: to be that guy. Do you pay it early? When's
- 3:03Speaker 4: the right time to pay it? I'd be stunned if
- 3:06Speaker 4: Parker Washington's not with his team for the long term.
- 3:08Speaker 5: You remember the training camp where Jalen Ramsey showed up
- 3:10Speaker 5: in the Brinks truck to make his point I think
- 3:13Speaker 5: you could just pull the Brinks truck up and Parker
- 3:16Speaker 5: Washington could go get in it to.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Make his Parker would never No, it's what I mean.
- 3:20Speaker 4: It's completely clear here when I say erosion, I'm not
- 3:24Speaker 4: sure a player's I hate the phrase journey, but it's
- 3:28Speaker 4: all we use anymore. I'm not has ever impressed me
- 3:32Speaker 4: more than this kit because this time two years ago,
- 3:37Speaker 4: I didn't know if he was going to factor into
- 3:39Speaker 4: the team at all going forward. And now you know,
- 3:43Speaker 4: I always say there's guys when they go down, like
- 3:45Speaker 4: when there's a player injured. I don't want to see
- 3:47Speaker 4: forty four. I don't want to see sixteen down. I
- 3:49Speaker 4: don't want to see eleven down either. I mean, he's
- 3:51Speaker 4: on that on that level in terms of importance to
- 3:54Speaker 4: the offense.
- 3:55Speaker 1: It's truly been brick by brick with Parker, and he's
- 3:57Speaker 1: built himself up into quite a talented place. Let's go
- 4:00Speaker 1: to our second big thing today, which is O line shuffle.
- 4:02Speaker 1: We've seen some injuries and some movement on the O
- 4:05Speaker 1: line so far. Now obviously one of the bigger stories
- 4:08Speaker 1: we talked about last week Anson Harrison going to left tackle,
- 4:11Speaker 1: but now with some injuries as well.
- 4:14Speaker 2: John, things have been looking a little bit different on.
- 4:15Speaker 3: The right side.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Yeah, and I don't worry too much about offensive line
- 4:19Speaker 4: injuries until you're closer to the regular season and until
- 4:23Speaker 4: you start seeing guys get put on lists that mean
- 4:27Speaker 4: they're not going to be on the field in Week one.
- 4:31Speaker 4: But on the you know, Walker Little was playing the
- 4:33Speaker 4: right side. I think Anton Harrison has booked for the
- 4:36Speaker 4: left side now, so you've seen Jonah Mannheim go to
- 4:40Speaker 4: guard and Wyatt Milam go to tackle. As long as this,
- 4:46Speaker 4: as long as there's not more than one starter down
- 4:49Speaker 4: going into the opener, and as long as they're not
- 4:52Speaker 4: putting guys on season ending Brian, I don't worry about this.
- 4:55Speaker 4: This is sort of what they do during the preseason.
- 4:57Speaker 4: It's not panic time in the O line yet.
- 4:59Speaker 5: No, you get lots of these nagging injuries, especially after
- 5:01Speaker 5: you go to full pads. We're seeing Emmanuel Pregnan, the
- 5:04Speaker 5: rookie left guard, out there. He's been gone for a
- 5:08Speaker 5: couple of days. I can see it over here through
- 5:09Speaker 5: the window. There's a number of guys that are back
- 5:12Speaker 5: out there today, so we'll see what that means for
- 5:14Speaker 5: their practice on Thursday. Against the Saints and how much
- 5:17Speaker 5: participation we'll see from guys on Saturday in the Saints game.
- 5:22Speaker 5: But at this moment in time, this is just natural
- 5:25Speaker 5: for this part of camp.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Manuel Pregnant was out with injury and then also Walker
- 5:28Speaker 1: Little and Patrick McCarey are dealing with some stuff as well,
- 5:30Speaker 1: so we'll keep an eye on that obviously, update you
- 5:32Speaker 1: as this week goes along. Our final big things today
- 5:35Speaker 1: are gonna be the big easy, and I could go
- 5:37Speaker 1: a couple different ways. Obviously we're going to New Orleans
- 5:39Speaker 1: this week for a joint practice and a game, but
- 5:42Speaker 1: also Trevor Lawrence has been making it look easy so
- 5:45Speaker 1: far in camp as I would like to put it,
- 5:47Speaker 1: because at least Brian, from what I've seen, usually it's
- 5:50Speaker 1: inconsistency sometimes with Trevor because he's so talented. But then
- 5:53Speaker 1: as training camp goes on day off day, but there's
- 5:56Speaker 1: really not been a day where he looks bad. Now.
- 5:58Speaker 5: There was a moment early in the mock game last Friday,
- 6:03Speaker 5: John where he was off target. He under threw Brian
- 6:06Speaker 5: Thomas Junior, and he came back and he missed Parker Washington,
- 6:10Speaker 5: but then he grinded through it on the very next drive,
- 6:12Speaker 5: there he was and it was laser laser laser. So
- 6:16Speaker 5: he's had some up and down moments, but this is
- 6:18Speaker 5: a camp where I have thought that he has grinded
- 6:21Speaker 5: his way through the bad moments to get to the
- 6:23Speaker 5: good moments. I think it's been a pretty effective camp
- 6:25Speaker 5: for him so far.
- 6:26Speaker 4: We're gonna have Any quarterback is gonna have better games
- 6:29Speaker 4: than others and better practices than others. I think the
- 6:34Speaker 4: thing you see from Trevor more than anything is if
- 6:40Speaker 4: the performance last training camp was this, then the performance
- 6:45Speaker 4: this training camp is this, and he up and down
- 6:48Speaker 4: is higher than it was last year. Whatever his floor is,
- 6:54Speaker 4: it's much much higher. His struggling games from here forward,
- 6:59Speaker 4: I don't think are going to be the same as
- 7:01Speaker 4: Australian games before. Even if it's just okay Trevor, it's
- 7:06Speaker 4: going to be good enough to win. That wasn't always
- 7:08Speaker 4: the case before. I think that's a product Brian of
- 7:12Speaker 4: his understanding and comfort within Liam Cohen's offense. He's got
- 7:18Speaker 4: eighteen games in now or as he didn't this time
- 7:20Speaker 4: last year.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Well, that's right. The other day he made an arid
- 7:24Speaker 5: throw and then came back the next play and made
- 7:27Speaker 5: that beautiful throw down the sideline on Sunday to Parker,
- 7:29Speaker 5: and he talked about it yesterday with the media where
- 7:31Speaker 5: he told Parker what to do. He's just a guy who.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Is a nobody tells Parker what to do.
- 7:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it sounds like a T shirt. It was an
- 7:40Speaker 5: adjustment that he made, and he's adjusting at a much
- 7:43Speaker 5: higher level of confidence and understanding of what Liam Cohen wants.
- 7:47Speaker 4: He looks like a really knowledgeable frontline NFL quarterback right now. Again,
- 7:54Speaker 4: they still have ups and downs, but I'd be stunned
- 7:57Speaker 4: if he's not just really really good this year and
- 8:00Speaker 4: we didn't know that last year.
- 8:01Speaker 1: This time, the floor has been raised for sure what
- 8:03Speaker 1: we expect out of him. Stay with us here on Jagzam.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Coming up, we're gonna go over the in stadium in
- 8:09Speaker 1: the practice facility scrimmage we saw earlier this week and
- 8:11Speaker 1: tell you what we saw on Friday, the exam brought
- 8:22Speaker 1: to by Fields Auto Group Seafields First, Jacksonville's premier luxury
- 8:25Speaker 1: auto group. Head over to Fields Auto dot Com.
- 8:29Speaker 6: Continuing to improve our physicality and the excess and those
- 8:32Speaker 6: behind the games, because so then when we know that
- 8:34Speaker 6: and everybody can trust the communication, we can all fly around.
- 8:38Speaker 6: So I liked what I saw in terms of being
- 8:40Speaker 6: in the right spots and stuff and kind of ramping up,
- 8:43Speaker 6: getting ready for a real game, kind of get that
- 8:45Speaker 6: energy behind it with the motin game field. But it's
- 8:47Speaker 6: always good to see a guy out there playing football,
- 8:49Speaker 6: talking with each other and flying around.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Wait, we we can weigh in on that mock game
- 8:53Speaker 1: they had on Friday. Obviously, lots of team sessions, practice
- 8:57Speaker 1: red zone, they do all kinds of stuff, but actually
- 8:59Speaker 1: set it up as if to be game like on Friday,
- 9:02Speaker 1: our first little taste of what this might look like.
- 9:04Speaker 5: Brian, I paid particularly close attention to the running game
- 9:07Speaker 5: because that's been a focus for Liam, not just because
- 9:10Speaker 5: they've got a different running back room this year, but
- 9:14Speaker 5: because John and we talked about it. The running game
- 9:17Speaker 5: last year tailed off the second half of the season.
- 9:19Speaker 5: And despite the fact that we talked so much about
- 9:21Speaker 5: Trevor Lawrence Parker Washington and Brian Thomas and Jacob Myers,
- 9:25Speaker 5: Travis Hunter, what Liam Cohen wants to do with his
- 9:27Speaker 5: offense is all predicated on the ability to run the
- 9:30Speaker 5: ball when he wants to.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Yeah, they need to run about an eighth of a
- 9:34Speaker 4: yard better than they did last year consistently, meaning they
- 9:38Speaker 4: need to get into They were in a lot of second, seven,
- 9:41Speaker 4: second and eight last year. They need to be in
- 9:42Speaker 4: second and six a lot. And I don't know if
- 9:46Speaker 4: we've played the soundbout in any of our shows, but
- 9:49Speaker 4: Trevor talks about Chris Rodriguez the other day and sort
- 9:53Speaker 4: of just stated the company line on what this guy is.
- 9:57Speaker 4: And it was interesting because I don't think he was
- 9:59Speaker 4: trying to say the company and he was talking about
- 10:01Speaker 4: what he has seen, the physicality. He's going to be
- 10:04Speaker 4: hard to bring down during live action, and his physicality
- 10:09Speaker 4: and you know yards after contact are going to be
- 10:13Speaker 4: what get them in better situations. It's the non sexy
- 10:18Speaker 4: storyline because you can't really see it during OTAs, but
- 10:22Speaker 4: they believe it. It's gonna be one of the building
- 10:24Speaker 4: blocks of this offense this year.
- 10:25Speaker 5: And the other side of the coin there with Chris
- 10:26Speaker 5: Rodriguez is he's a hammer and the defense gets tired
- 10:30Speaker 5: of tackling this guy. You get into the second half
- 10:32Speaker 5: on a game in September and October in particular, remember
- 10:35Speaker 5: the Steelers with your own Bettest teams just wear down.
- 10:39Speaker 5: So you wear him down, Kuy, and then you bring
- 10:41Speaker 5: in Bachel Toutin and you run by the tired guys.
- 10:44Speaker 5: I mean, the things they can do with the running
- 10:45Speaker 5: game with a big, bruising back like Chris Rodriguez, Well,
- 10:49Speaker 5: we're gonna see him this year.
- 10:50Speaker 4: I've said it before. I got a lot of questions
- 10:53Speaker 4: about Rodriguez and everything seems to be packaged with short yardage,
- 10:57Speaker 4: third down, goal line guy. Just because you're big and
- 11:01Speaker 4: physical doesn't make you that he's a lot more to
- 11:04Speaker 4: this offense than that.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Yeah, and the head coach Liam Cohen said last week,
- 11:07Speaker 1: you don't really see it until you get the pads on.
- 11:09Speaker 2: He's in a real game.
- 11:10Speaker 1: We've see in a little flashes of it, but because
- 11:13Speaker 1: they don't tackle all the way to the ground right now.
- 11:15Speaker 1: But he's definitely that guy where you think it's going
- 11:17Speaker 1: to be a yard or two and it ends up
- 11:19Speaker 1: being much more than that, just because it's difficult to
- 11:21Speaker 1: bring him down. We talked about the running game, of course,
- 11:24Speaker 1: there's also the defense, which when we talk about linebackers,
- 11:27Speaker 1: Foye is talking a little bit about what that's going
- 11:29Speaker 1: to look like around him. Devin Lloyd obviously heading off
- 11:31Speaker 1: to Carolina, and now Ventrel Miller steps in, but also
- 11:34Speaker 1: Branson Combs has been impressing some people. John, what's the
- 11:38Speaker 1: Linebracker room going to look like when it all shakes out?
- 11:40Speaker 4: Well, I think it's gonna be Gardax starting on the
- 11:42Speaker 4: strong side. Foyer who It was funny when you see
- 11:45Speaker 4: him up there're like, oh, yeah, he's still here and
- 11:48Speaker 4: he's still really good. That's our free agents. Have you
- 11:51Speaker 4: seen come in and they're gone after two years? You know,
- 11:54Speaker 4: older veteran it should say older, but veteran guys. He
- 11:58Speaker 4: just keeps plugging and he keeps madder. Everybody sort of
- 12:03Speaker 4: assumed that it was going to be Ventrell Miller over
- 12:06Speaker 4: or on the weak side. I think Ventreil is gonna matter.
- 12:09Speaker 4: But Brian, I think it's gonna be Branson Combs in
- 12:11Speaker 4: a lot of base situations where they think the offense
- 12:13Speaker 4: is leaning pass because he can really cover. I think
- 12:16Speaker 4: it's I mean, I think it's going to be an
- 12:19Speaker 4: ore situation, uh, rather than a first team situation over there.
- 12:25Speaker 5: Well, because their skill sets are so different, right, and
- 12:28Speaker 5: Ventrell's a guy who could go over and back up
- 12:30Speaker 5: and play behind Foyeluacon as well and play true middle linebacker,
- 12:34Speaker 5: and Brandon Combs can step in and play the weak
- 12:36Speaker 5: side linebacker. So they talk about versatility on the offensive line.
- 12:40Speaker 5: It matters in the in the linebacker's room. Also, Combs
- 12:44Speaker 5: is a guy that we saw last year on special
- 12:46Speaker 5: teams and you saw this six foot three guy with
- 12:48Speaker 5: really long arms, run really fast, and you thought, what
- 12:52Speaker 5: can he be In one year he went from being
- 12:55Speaker 5: a practice squad to special teams. What can he be? Well,
- 12:59Speaker 5: he can be started. I think they really believe. It's
- 13:02Speaker 5: one of the reasons why you don't You don't hesitate
- 13:05Speaker 5: with Devin Lloyd. You say, all right, listen, Devin, we
- 13:08Speaker 5: appreciate what you did for us last year. But this
- 13:10Speaker 5: is a younger player that we think has a very
- 13:12Speaker 5: high ceiling and we're going to go with him. So
- 13:16Speaker 5: there's been some injuries in that room too, worth pointing out.
- 13:18Speaker 5: So it'll be interesting to see how that group comes together.
- 13:22Speaker 5: You mentioned Denis Gardeck. I'm excited to see McCloud. Jalen McCloud.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Let's talk a little bit elsewhere on the defense, I
- 13:31Speaker 1: guess or offense, is there younger players you are excited
- 13:33Speaker 1: to see in the preseason because we're not necessarily going
- 13:35Speaker 1: to see starters this week and in New Orleans.
- 13:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, you're curious to see how extensive the
- 13:44Speaker 4: two rookie wide receivers play. You know, some of these rookies,
- 13:49Speaker 4: if they get in and show that they're over their feet,
- 13:53Speaker 4: so to speak, they know what they're doing, probably aren't
- 13:55Speaker 4: gonna play that much in the pre season because they
- 13:56Speaker 4: don't get them hurt either. But Williams and Cameron Bryan,
- 14:01Speaker 4: it seems like for the first time in a long
- 14:03Speaker 4: time they are drafting. You know, there's going to be
- 14:07Speaker 4: jars on the shelf at the receiver position of that term.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Where As before they were always sort of searching and
- 14:13Speaker 4: could never find late round receivers. They found a bunch
- 14:16Speaker 4: of them.
- 14:16Speaker 3: C J.
- 14:17Speaker 5: Williams is a guy who started it. First of all,
- 14:19Speaker 5: he played at mader D in Santa Ana, California, which
- 14:21Speaker 5: is a premier program, and then he went to usc
- 14:24Speaker 5: Wisconsin before Stanford. I mean, the game is not too
- 14:27Speaker 5: big for him, and we've seen that every single day.
- 14:30Speaker 5: I'm looking at one guy on the offensive line and
- 14:32Speaker 5: one guy on the defensive line in particular this week
- 14:34Speaker 5: John Emmanuel pregnant. Assuming he plays and if he's practicing today,
- 14:39Speaker 5: assume he'll practice and they have an opportunity to play.
- 14:42Speaker 5: He's the guy that Jeff Loghaman has been talking about NonStop.
- 14:45Speaker 5: When someone gets in front of him, they disappear. Now,
- 14:49Speaker 5: he wasn't a first round pick and because he doesn't
- 14:53Speaker 5: necessarily have the feet to chase guys and pull, but
- 14:56Speaker 5: if he figures out how to get in front of someone,
- 14:58Speaker 5: he races them. And I want to see if he
- 15:00Speaker 5: can do that against the Saints. And the other guy
- 15:03Speaker 5: is Wesley Williams, the fourth round pick from Duke Kay.
- 15:05Speaker 5: This guy is a violent guy off the line of scrimmage.
- 15:09Speaker 5: He's bigger than you think when you just look at
- 15:11Speaker 5: the six foot three and a half and two hundred
- 15:13Speaker 5: and fifty eight pounds. He is big. He is muscled up.
- 15:16Speaker 5: He's got big wrists, big elbows, you know the joints,
- 15:19Speaker 5: because you're going to need those to be strong when
- 15:21Speaker 5: you are violently attacking the offensive line. Plus, he's got
- 15:24Speaker 5: some nice moves. Want to see if that can translate,
- 15:26Speaker 5: because if you can have him and b J. Green
- 15:30Speaker 5: and then be able to slide Trayvon Walker inside next
- 15:32Speaker 5: to Eric Armstead. I mean, you see where I'm going.
- 15:35Speaker 5: The multitude of options for Anthony Campinealy, who's one of
- 15:38Speaker 5: those defensive minds, those innovators. I'm really excited to see
- 15:42Speaker 5: if what we see out here translates to the Caesar
- 15:44Speaker 5: super Dum on Saturday.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Yeah, they're really excited about pregnant he I'm not sure
- 15:49Speaker 4: that he's going to be quite ready to start you
- 15:53Speaker 4: off the bang, so to speak, but at some point
- 15:57Speaker 4: he's gonna get it. And all of a sudden, Myleiman
- 16:00Speaker 4: preignon as your interior alignment for the future of this franchise. Uh,
- 16:04Speaker 4: looks pretty good on the interior of the offensive line.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Sure does.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And obviously we're going to New Orleans for the first
- 16:10Speaker 1: preseason game of the year, but very soon we're gonna

- 16:57Speaker 1: People are very upset and as are we, but he
- 17:00Speaker 1: left us, so we're moving on now. So first off,
- 17:02Speaker 1: it's Ken from Saint Augustine, Florida says, I know Jaguars
- 17:06Speaker 1: GM James Gladstone always is looking to improve the team,
- 17:08Speaker 1: but based on the fifty three man roster predictions that
- 17:11Speaker 1: I've seen, I cannot find a player that I would replace.
- 17:14Speaker 1: What position do you think the Jaguars would like to upgrade?
- 17:17Speaker 4: Well, Brian, you always want to be careful in you know,
- 17:21Speaker 4: looking at a fifty three man roster and thinking well,
- 17:23Speaker 4: we got it. Yeah, you know, because they'll fall in love. Yeah,
- 17:26Speaker 4: there's obviously spots that you can replace. I think they're
- 17:31Speaker 4: still trying to figure out everything that linebacker will look like.
- 17:36Speaker 4: I think they feel great about their offensive line. You've
- 17:38Speaker 4: got what nine guys do they feel good about. I
- 17:41Speaker 4: feel like they're in good shape there. I don't know
- 17:45Speaker 4: that there's any glaring position as much as there's just
- 17:50Speaker 4: spots that you're still curious. How will safety play out?
- 17:54Speaker 4: Meaning what's that rotation going to look like? It's more
- 17:58Speaker 4: rotations than any place where I feel like there are
- 18:02Speaker 4: are places where they have to go upgrade. It's more
- 18:05Speaker 4: watching injuries and uh, you know, interior defensive line.
- 18:10Speaker 5: I was just about to go there.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Could they still you know they love Matt Dickerson, Uh,
- 18:15Speaker 4: Eric Armstead, you know, all those those things look good,
- 18:18Speaker 4: but you could still see a guy or to a
- 18:21Speaker 4: veteran who can hold up in there. Maybe there, But
- 18:26Speaker 4: I think the readers right, you feel good about everything
- 18:29Speaker 4: right now.
- 18:30Speaker 5: There's lots of answers to potential questions. Interior defensive line
- 18:34Speaker 5: is the first one that comes to mind. Although Eric
- 18:36Speaker 5: Armstead when he has practiced and they've been you know,
- 18:39Speaker 5: they've been easing him through camp at his stage of
- 18:41Speaker 5: the game, he's looked good in the in the past
- 18:43Speaker 5: rush party, he has looked really good and that is
- 18:46Speaker 5: an encouraging thing to see. And perhaps with Trayvon Walker
- 18:49Speaker 5: in there next to him, just the matchup problems that
- 18:52Speaker 5: those two guys will create. We'll give you more pressure
- 18:55Speaker 5: up the middle. There's been a couple of injuries. The
- 18:57Speaker 5: linebacking group is one that you've been like, Okay, you
- 18:59Speaker 5: know how we're going to shuff this one around. But
- 19:01Speaker 5: there's lots of potential answers to possible questions.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Fair enough, I don't know the answers, but I'll wait
- 19:09Speaker 1: until they arise from the ashes and tell us the guy.
- 19:12Speaker 2: What's gonna happen?
- 19:12Speaker 5: All right?
- 19:13Speaker 1: Jeremy for Montana, he says, with Harrison looking like he
- 19:16Speaker 1: might play left tackle and play it well, I'm thinking
- 19:18Speaker 1: we need to get that extension done asap. A good
- 19:21Speaker 1: year on the more premiere side could cause a double
- 19:23Speaker 1: digit price jump to his eventual deal.
- 19:26Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 19:27Speaker 4: Yeah, And some of this is whenever there's a guy
- 19:32Speaker 4: who starts playing well in his contract is not yet determined.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Every once did happen right away? BTJ sort of falls
- 19:40Speaker 4: into that way as well as as Parker. With Anton,
- 19:45Speaker 4: you've got the fifty year option, you've already extended him
- 19:49Speaker 4: in that sense. You've also got the franchise tag. You
- 19:53Speaker 4: can push it out a little bit. You can be
- 19:56Speaker 4: you can wait for other guys's contracts to fall off off,
- 20:00Speaker 4: you can wait for things to happen elsewhere around the roster.
- 20:03Speaker 4: So could you go get a deal done, Sure, but
- 20:08Speaker 4: I'm not sure that you wouldn't also like to see
- 20:11Speaker 4: Anton play at a high level there for a period
- 20:15Speaker 4: of time before you determine what that contract is going
- 20:18Speaker 4: to look like. So I don't know that that's this
- 20:21Speaker 4: preseason type issue.
- 20:23Speaker 5: The way that Parker feels the question about Anton, It's
- 20:27Speaker 5: never been his talent. I mean, this is a guy
- 20:28Speaker 5: with great feet on that big body, and always a
- 20:32Speaker 5: left tackle in waiting. I think we've known that they've
- 20:35Speaker 5: wanted to be able to move him over there because
- 20:37Speaker 5: he's more natural aside. I had a conversation with him
- 20:39Speaker 5: walking off the field the other day. He gets it,
- 20:41Speaker 5: He understands left tackles make a lot of money, and
- 20:44Speaker 5: he is excited about the opportunity to go over there
- 20:46Speaker 5: and play. But the question about him has been his
- 20:48Speaker 5: consistency right from his rookie season until now. Can he
- 20:52Speaker 5: play consistent football? Can he finish consistently if he does
- 20:57Speaker 5: this year, I mean, I'm willing to let it go
- 20:59Speaker 5: into the year. If you want to get Parker done. Listen,
- 21:02Speaker 5: he's taken care of as far as contract. He isn't
- 21:04Speaker 5: going anywhere in twenty twenty seven. You want to lock
- 21:07Speaker 5: him up, you want to reward him, but Parker is
- 21:10Speaker 5: the more pressing issue for you. Get Parker done, have
- 21:13Speaker 5: him prove himself consistently, and I could see him being
- 21:16Speaker 5: you know that Jacoby Meyers a December extension where you
- 21:20Speaker 5: get him locked up for the lost term. It can
- 21:22Speaker 5: be such a balance too. You.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Yes, you want to get guys locked in, but sometimes
- 21:28Speaker 4: franchises can jump too quickly to sign guys for the
- 21:31Speaker 4: long term. So you have to sort of be patient
- 21:36Speaker 4: and be over your feet a little bit and not
- 21:39Speaker 4: want to get you know, you don't want to just
- 21:41Speaker 4: have a list and cross it off fast. You want
- 21:43Speaker 4: to make sure you're making the right decisions and the
- 21:46Speaker 4: pragmatic because that's what you know. Yeah, at that point
- 21:49Speaker 4: when you're trying to get those things done.
- 21:50Speaker 5: By the way, there's nothing wrong with having the carrot
- 21:52Speaker 5: hanging out there. Not everybody has to be happy through
- 21:55Speaker 5: the course of the season. Having a guy who's a
- 21:57Speaker 5: little angst ridden because he wants to know where that
- 21:59Speaker 5: contract is he's not necessarily a bad thing. Go earn it.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I'm not trying to anger a big man like that.
- 22:04Speaker 5: He's a good dude't but he gets it. But there's
- 22:06Speaker 5: never a problem as far as I'm conservative saying, all right,
- 22:09Speaker 5: here's the level, go earn it.
- 22:11Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 22:11Speaker 5: I'm just say if it's hanging out there and he's
- 22:15Speaker 5: he's not gonna get disgruntled. He wants to play, he
- 22:17Speaker 5: wants the money. There's nothing wrong with having.
- 22:19Speaker 2: To earn it.
- 22:20Speaker 4: We're still seeing it in real time, meaning when they
- 22:23Speaker 4: got here last year, they had to work with him
- 22:25Speaker 4: on every day consistency. Now they've moved him to left tackle.
- 22:30Speaker 4: That step has been taken. So let's see that step
- 22:34Speaker 4: play out a little bit and then they'll determine the
- 22:37Speaker 4: long term situation.
- 22:39Speaker 1: All right, let's close this out for Josh from Atlanta.
- 22:41Speaker 1: He says, there's been some high praise from a few
- 22:43Speaker 1: of the beat writers for prospect X. Has Zach Durfy
- 22:46Speaker 1: stood out much to you? It would seem with his
- 22:48Speaker 1: draft spot, he's set.
- 22:49Speaker 2: For a good bit of preseason game time.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Yeah, he's looked good. I mean Zach Durfy the defensive end,
- 22:55Speaker 4: He's one of four guys at that position who they
- 22:59Speaker 4: really like. Wesley Willilliams, J Green, Damie Strogal and you
- 23:03Speaker 4: know, I said that as four guys, Green has looked really good.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Durphy has stood out. He has a lot of traits.
- 23:10Speaker 4: I would expect to see him some in the preseason.
- 23:13Speaker 4: And uh, you know, you always hesitate with a rookie
- 23:16Speaker 4: pass rusher to get excited on August eleventh, because there's
- 23:21Speaker 4: so much that you've got to see. But he is
- 23:24Speaker 4: a guy. That position is very intriguing. We've talked about
- 23:27Speaker 4: it so much. You know about Trayvon, you know about
- 23:29Speaker 4: Josh einz Allen. Where do you find impact out of
- 23:33Speaker 4: those four? Somewhere out of those four, As Kaya said earlier,
- 23:37Speaker 4: something will rise from the Ashes.
- 23:39Speaker 5: I would be surprised if they kept five edge defenders
- 23:44Speaker 5: on the roster just from a numbers game, knowing what
- 23:46Speaker 5: they want to do on the offensive side. It could happen.
- 23:49Speaker 5: I mean, his progress through the preseason games could force
- 23:53Speaker 5: them to keep him on the team, kind of like
- 23:55Speaker 5: Tyler Shatley years ago. He played so well they couldn't
- 23:57Speaker 5: put him on the practice squad. But Wesley Williams and
- 24:00Speaker 5: b J Green are ahead of him, I think considerably
- 24:03Speaker 5: ahead of him at this point, and so I think
- 24:05Speaker 5: it's going to be a fight for him to make
- 24:07Speaker 5: the roster over Danny Strigau, who's the guy they like.
- 24:10Speaker 5: But he's somebody that they want to develop, and that's
- 24:12Speaker 5: why they took him in the seventh round.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Sure, and we saw flashes last year, but obviously undrafted
- 24:16Speaker 1: free agents both BJ Green and Danny strigo So something
- 24:19Speaker 1: to keep an eye on there as well. Stay with
- 24:21Speaker 1: us here, we'll tell you what's coming up the rest
- 24:22Speaker 1: of the weekend when we'll be back on jags Am.
- 24:37Speaker 4: That's the other side. I'm real, real healthy.
- 24:40Speaker 3: I mean I drank coffee every now and then, but
- 24:42Speaker 3: I don't really drink it.
- 24:43Speaker 4: As like me needing. It is more so just for
- 24:46Speaker 4: the aesthetic. And then I love Mata toufa.
- 24:48Speaker 5: It's kind of like.
- 24:49Speaker 4: The for the vibes.
- 24:50Speaker 3: But I'm real healthy, of I'm real strict about what
- 24:53Speaker 3: I eat.
- 24:54Speaker 2: John, what do you do for the vibes?
- 24:56Speaker 4: I drink coffee like it's oxygen.
- 25:00Speaker 2: We need the Parker does not.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Parker gets in here at at five am and does
- 25:04Speaker 1: not need any caffeany He's just doing it for the esthetic.
- 25:06Speaker 5: Naturally caffeinated.
- 25:07Speaker 4: He was talking about that last week about like in
- 25:09Speaker 4: before thirty, and I asked him what he why, well,
- 25:13Speaker 4: what he meant by that, I'm not even sure that's legal.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Just he does go to bed early. He loves to
- 25:19Speaker 2: get some sleep.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Now that he's a machine. We've talked about it, and
- 25:23Speaker 4: what a There's so many guys who fit this around
- 25:26Speaker 4: here right now, but what an ideal guy to be
- 25:29Speaker 4: setting your tone. All the coaches have to do is
- 25:32Speaker 4: say to rookies, oh, you want to be good?
- 25:35Speaker 5: Do that? He and Travis and Brian Thomas and Jacobi
- 25:38Speaker 5: you have a contest going on to see who can
- 25:40Speaker 5: get in here the earliest, which might seem crazy to you.
- 25:43Speaker 5: It's like it's how they were ridiculous. It's one of
- 25:46Speaker 5: my favorite guys in the locker room. He just always
- 25:48Speaker 5: has a smile on his face. He's always willing to
- 25:50Speaker 5: tell you what he thinks, and he he does. He
- 25:52Speaker 5: speaks what he believes, and as someone with the microphone
- 25:56Speaker 5: who wants to get the story, you could appreciate the
- 25:58Speaker 5: fact that he's got that honesty about him.
- 26:00Speaker 1: The good day, when that deal gets done, I'm not
- 26:02Speaker 1: saying if we're going when. So for us, the rest
- 26:05Speaker 1: of the week looks like another practice here tomorrow, then
- 26:08Speaker 1: we're heading to New Orleans. We're going to be live
- 26:10Speaker 1: from Saint slash Jaguars practice on Thursday for Jags Am
- 26:14Speaker 1: And what are you guys looking forward to enjoining practice?
- 26:16Speaker 1: Like I like to see the competition level go up
- 26:18Speaker 1: a little bit. I feel like there's always a little
- 26:19Speaker 1: some extra.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it'll be cool because we really didn't get this
- 26:24Speaker 4: last year. Even in Miami. There was one out of
- 26:27Speaker 4: the three weeks we had a joint practice, and even
- 26:30Speaker 4: then the Dolphins were sort of done with camp, so
- 26:32Speaker 4: there wasn't a whole lot the Jaguars could get done
- 26:34Speaker 4: out of that. You know, you look for defensive and
- 26:38Speaker 4: offensive line play because that always feels a little more
- 26:43Speaker 4: real than what they can do out here. I'm not
- 26:45Speaker 4: saying it's not real out here, but there's an energy
- 26:47Speaker 4: to a joint practice out of that, so pass rush
- 26:51Speaker 4: some physicality. You hope that they get some controlled Look
- 26:55Speaker 4: at the at the two running games, the offense and defense.
- 26:58Speaker 5: I was just going right there, want to watch that
- 27:00Speaker 5: in particular because Travis e chan is that we got
- 27:04Speaker 5: that right now? Why he never told us formerly known
- 27:08Speaker 5: as I still want to know why he never said,
- 27:10Speaker 5: never said a word about that. He had the best
- 27:13Speaker 5: training camp last year of any Jaguar. So I imagine he
- 27:16Speaker 5: is going to be motivated on Thursday to have his
- 27:20Speaker 5: best day as a Saint. I hope the Jaguars get
- 27:22Speaker 5: after him. Should be fun.
- 27:23Speaker 4: I loved what Trevor said. He I just called him trav.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Just keep it simple, all right.
- 27:29Speaker 1: We'll see you again for JAGXAM on Thursday from joint
- 27:32Speaker 1: practice with the Saints and Joy.
- 27:34Speaker 2: We'll talk to you then
