- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, Catherine, Hi Chelsea, how are you? And well, how's
- 0:03Speaker 1: your new abode? Catherine and Brad moved into a new house,
- 0:07Speaker 1: you guys, we did. We bought a house. You guys
- 0:10Speaker 1: heard about it here when we had put in an
- 0:12Speaker 1: offer on the house. But it's going great. There's so
- 0:15Speaker 1: many projects, but we're really enjoying doing the projects so well.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Isn't that just a happy homemaking story. What a success story.
- 0:22Speaker 1: And you sent me a beautiful picture of the sunset
- 0:24Speaker 1: from your house the other night that I was blown
- 0:26Speaker 1: away by. Yes, it it's gorgeous out there because we're
- 0:30Speaker 1: right at the base of the mountains and so every
- 0:32Speaker 1: night the sunset lights them up, all orange and salmon,
- 0:35Speaker 1: and then we just had this incredible from pinks to
- 0:38Speaker 1: oranges to purple's. It was just it was just gorgeous. Well,
- 0:42Speaker 1: that's great, and I mean there's also a red blood
- 0:45Speaker 1: moon coming tonight. We are recording this on Tuesday, November eight,
- 0:49Speaker 1: which is election day, to air on Thursday, November ten,
- 0:51Speaker 1: where we will know the results unless there are fifty
- 0:53Speaker 1: thousand lawsuits still happening at that time, which is a possibility. Yes,
- 0:58Speaker 1: but there's a blood red moon Hopefully it's not like
- 1:01Speaker 1: a port end of doom. It is. I after I
- 1:04Speaker 1: spoke to that astrologist, Jade Luna. He's on Instagram as
- 1:08Speaker 1: Jade Saluna. I did my annual forecast with him actually
- 1:12Speaker 1: last night, well go back, I did. I had some
- 1:14Speaker 1: shows this weekend, and uh, I did another reading with him,
- 1:18Speaker 1: and he was explaining to me how all the planets,
- 1:21Speaker 1: whether they're in your sign or not, can dictate what's
- 1:24Speaker 1: happening now. And I'm and I believe that. And he said,
- 1:27Speaker 1: if Donald Trump is able to run in, Jupiter is
- 1:30Speaker 1: through his sign, is moving through his sign that year,
- 1:33Speaker 1: which is almost unstoppable, which means he will have so
- 1:36Speaker 1: much good career fortune that he will be unbeatable if
- 1:39Speaker 1: he runs in. So hopefully he'll be arrested or put
- 1:43Speaker 1: down before then. I mean, I UM have some shows
- 1:47Speaker 1: coming up this weekend Rockford, Illinois. My sister in law
- 1:51Speaker 1: is going to a friend, Julie, who loves this podcast. Friday,
- 1:56Speaker 1: November eleven, I'm in Rockford, Illinois. Saturday night I'm in
- 2:00Speaker 1: in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and then Sunday night i am in Rosemont, Illinois.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And then Thursday the following Thursday, I have two shows
- 2:09Speaker 1: in Tampa, Florida at the Hard Rock Casino, So what
- 2:12Speaker 1: else was I going to say? Oh? Yes, I got
- 2:15Speaker 1: very intoxicated this weekend and it was really hard to
- 2:17Speaker 1: shake it. Where were you partying, Tucson? Surprisingly, yes, we
- 2:23Speaker 1: unexpectedly went out after the Tucson show. We all got
- 2:26Speaker 1: very Actually, no, I think I was the one who
- 2:28Speaker 1: got the most intoxicated, and then we got up. I
- 2:31Speaker 1: went to the gym in the morning because I like
- 2:33Speaker 1: to do the gym no matter what happens. But I
- 2:35Speaker 1: quickly turned around and realized that I had no business
- 2:39Speaker 1: being inside the gym because I just did not feel right.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Some people can, like they swear, by sweating out your hangover.
- 2:45Speaker 1: That was my intention, and I can't do it. No.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I did about fifteen minutes of an ABS class and
- 2:50Speaker 1: then I gave up my exercise. With a hangover is
- 2:54Speaker 1: like going to the bathroom and throwing up and then
- 2:56Speaker 1: going back to bed. That's all I can do. So
- 2:59Speaker 1: so anyway, I finally recovered, but it took a minute. Yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 1: We went to a lot of Republican areas this weekend,
- 3:05Speaker 1: Colorado Springs and Tucson, and they were both awesome. Shows.
- 3:09Speaker 1: So it's just nice to have my people everywhere I go. Yeah,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I mean Phoenix and Tucson, like those areas. They're such
- 3:15Speaker 1: like fun foodie towns actually, and they've got cute places
- 3:19Speaker 1: to go out. It's kind of lovely. Well, the airport
- 3:22Speaker 1: in Tucson is a little bit like a correctional facility.
- 3:24Speaker 1: There's no one there, and the people who are working
- 3:27Speaker 1: there look like armed guards and are like and there's there,
- 3:29Speaker 1: and there may as well be cageous in the airport
- 3:31Speaker 1: because that's how it feels. My security guy was like,
- 3:33Speaker 1: you stay in the car, will be check you into
- 3:35Speaker 1: the flight. And I was like, okay, And usually that's
- 3:37Speaker 1: like five or ten minutes, and then it was thirty minutes.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I texted my sister and I was like, Hey, what's up.
- 3:42Speaker 1: And she's like, you don't want to see what's going
- 3:45Speaker 1: on in here. And she's like, there's a woman. There's
- 3:46Speaker 1: one woman working ticket counter for the entire airline and
- 3:50Speaker 1: she's never never done this before. Clearly than well, yes,
- 3:58Speaker 1: of course, of course, what else could I possibly do?
- 4:03Speaker 1: I just read a good book. If anyone's looking for
- 4:05Speaker 1: a good book. Signifiers, Okay, I just finished that over
- 4:11Speaker 1: the weekend and then I gave it right away to
- 4:13Speaker 1: a friend whose birthday it was. Yeah, that was a
- 4:14Speaker 1: really good book. So that's it's about life. It's about
- 4:18Speaker 1: all these different characters living on the street and like
- 4:21Speaker 1: different times in their lives, and it just kind of
- 4:23Speaker 1: connects everybody. And it's a lot about the stars and
- 4:25Speaker 1: the galaxy and how everybody's connected and how you know,
- 4:29Speaker 1: life is like how time is a continuum, and it's cool.
- 4:32Speaker 1: It was like I was open to that. You know,
- 4:35Speaker 1: I'm much more open to all of that stuff now,
- 4:37Speaker 1: so when I read it, I like it. I feel
- 4:38Speaker 1: like they're speaking to me. Yeah, it's it's fun. And
- 4:40Speaker 1: we've got actually some very fun sort of woo woo
- 4:43Speaker 1: guests coming coming up. Oh yeah, we do. We've booked
- 4:46Speaker 1: a lot of fun guests like that. I think recently
- 4:50Speaker 1: sort of found out that a lot of listeners to
- 4:52Speaker 1: show are into that stuff, which we are too, so
- 4:54Speaker 1: it works out. Yeah, we have Laura Lynn Jackson coming
- 4:57Speaker 1: on the show was one of my favorites, and then
- 5:01Speaker 1: the media, Yeah, we're going to book him. I do
- 5:04Speaker 1: have to say I'm a little bit of a skeptic
- 5:06Speaker 1: of his stuff in particular because I'm like, can't you
- 5:08Speaker 1: google that? But I don't know. Everybody gets really blown away.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Well maybe we can just have callers call in and
- 5:15Speaker 1: then he has no prior knowledge of them. I love
- 5:18Speaker 1: that because he can't do me or you because that's
- 5:20Speaker 1: easily researchable. Right, Okay, I like this. I kind of
- 5:24Speaker 1: want him to prove himself to me. I want to believe.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I want to believe. Yeah, I want to believe to Yeah.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I like to believe in that stuff because it just
- 5:32Speaker 1: makes everything more tolerable and it's more fun, especially when
- 5:35Speaker 1: people die. It's like there's nothing comforting you could say
- 5:37Speaker 1: to anybody wants somebody's dead, except for the fact that
- 5:40Speaker 1: they're not really gone and that they're always around you
- 5:42Speaker 1: and nobody's energy will ever really die. I fully believe that,
- 5:46Speaker 1: but it's also like proven by quantum physics. I'm pretty
- 5:48Speaker 1: sure yes it is. Whatever that is. Where where did
- 5:51Speaker 1: your other thermisco? You're one that you've haven't been able
- 5:54Speaker 1: to let go since ma Orca. I have to tell you,
- 5:57Speaker 1: I lost it. I went to Disneyland. Oh god, well
- 6:00Speaker 1: that was the first mistake. Catherine with your hard boiled eggs.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Did you take your hard boiled eggs to Disneyland. I didn't,
- 6:06Speaker 1: but I didn't have a smoothie in the car. But listen,
- 6:08Speaker 1: I was like, they're gonna have Christmas stuff up. I'm
- 6:11Speaker 1: not into it yet. Halloween just happened. I went ham
- 6:15Speaker 1: on all of the Christmas merch. I currently have a
- 6:18Speaker 1: Mickey tumbler for my coffee. He is dressed in a
- 6:22Speaker 1: Santa hat. Oh, I just I bought it all. Catherine
- 6:26Speaker 1: and I couldn't be more different. Would Brad take you
- 6:29Speaker 1: to Disneyland? No, I go with one of my girlfriends.
- 6:32Speaker 1: We do a podcast called Driving to Disneyland. Brad are
- 6:36Speaker 1: you there? Are you on board with this or what? Brad?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Men aren't allowed to talk on this podcast, muted him. Yeah,
- 6:46Speaker 1: never gone. Well we do, man. We have a straight man,
- 6:48Speaker 1: you guys as our guest today on the podcast. Is
- 6:50Speaker 1: that the first time, no, Mike Berbiglia, we've had some
- 6:53Speaker 1: straight yeah. Justin Long Oh yeah, Justin. I love him.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I ran into him and his girlfriend keep on with
- 7:00Speaker 1: at the airport. They're so cute. I love watching people
- 7:02Speaker 1: and young love. Yeah. They seem so happy. I know, yeah,
- 7:07Speaker 1: everyone's happy in the beginning. Okay, Oh yeah, our guest today.
- 7:10Speaker 1: You're gonna love him well, you know him because he's
- 7:13Speaker 1: He's one hot mess and I respect it. Our next
- 7:16Speaker 1: guest has the I Am Rappaport Stereo podcast. He's on
- 7:20Speaker 1: tour doing live shows. All tickets and dates are at
- 7:22Speaker 1: Michael Rappaport Comedy dot com. That's r A P A
- 7:26Speaker 1: p O r T. Please welcome the very disruptive Michael Rappaport. Hi, Michael,
- 7:32Speaker 1: you hello, what's up? Hoem? Skillet are better now that
- 7:37Speaker 1: Adidas dropped Kanye You look dashing as always, Michael. Ha ha.
- 7:42Speaker 1: This is my co host, Catherine. I'm good, I'm good, Michael.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Tell me the morning that we're recording is is the
- 7:52Speaker 1: morning I woke up and saw that Adidas finally dropped
- 7:54Speaker 1: Kanye West. What do you think took Adidas two and
- 7:57Speaker 1: a half weeks to drop Kanye West? I mean, as
- 8:00Speaker 1: far as Adidas dropping Kanye West, I'm sure his business,
- 8:06Speaker 1: you know, I'm sure it's business. I'm sure he's deep
- 8:08Speaker 1: in that company. Yeah, because him calling them out and
- 8:12Speaker 1: saying there there's no way that they can fire me,
- 8:14Speaker 1: There's no way they can fire me almost led me
- 8:15Speaker 1: to believe that he had some stipulation in his contract
- 8:18Speaker 1: that like allowed for either freedom of speech or something about,
- 8:22Speaker 1: you know, being able to voice his opinions or something.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Because he was so confident. I mean, not that anything
- 8:27Speaker 1: he says is that reliable, since he's clearly off of
- 8:30Speaker 1: his meds. But I was like, does he have something
- 8:33Speaker 1: going with Adidas where they're not allowed to fire him
- 8:35Speaker 1: for being racist and anti Semitic. It seemed like that.
- 8:39Speaker 1: That's that seems like why it took so long to me.
- 8:42Speaker 1: But you know, as far as Adidas in all these
- 8:46Speaker 1: places severing ties with him, and because I've been thinking
- 8:49Speaker 1: a lot about it and talking a lot about it.
- 8:51Speaker 1: The whole thing is he didn't invent anti Semitism. But
- 8:55Speaker 1: but what he did do in the last two weeks
- 8:58Speaker 1: with talking on these platforms and these platforms continuing to
- 9:02Speaker 1: let him speak, even down to this Lex Friedman, fucking
- 9:04Speaker 1: guy who put him on a two and a half
- 9:06Speaker 1: hour podcast just last night which I listened to. And
- 9:10Speaker 1: he's Jewish and he allegedly has family members that were
- 9:17Speaker 1: killed in the Holocaust And to sit there and you know,
- 9:20Speaker 1: be belittled and try to sort of massage this guy
- 9:23Speaker 1: office points and you know, and then those people at
- 9:26Speaker 1: the four or five freeway. That's the ramifications of him
- 9:31Speaker 1: talking that way. It's the same thing with Trump when
- 9:34Speaker 1: you sort of embolden these people. And you the thing
- 9:37Speaker 1: about Trump that's smarter than Kanye s that Trump is
- 9:40Speaker 1: the the king. He has the art of implication, implicative
- 9:46Speaker 1: speaking down to a t. He he does it better
- 9:49Speaker 1: than anyone I've ever heard. He'll say everything without saying it.
- 9:53Speaker 1: That's why he's never in trouble because he'll skirt around it.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Kanye's just sucking saying all the ship. And it's just
- 9:59Speaker 1: like to the point where Trump even said, this guy's
- 10:02Speaker 1: fucking nuts and he needs help. And you know, if
- 10:05Speaker 1: Trump is saying this guy's nuts and you need to help,
- 10:08Speaker 1: you're you're in bad shape. But may mean just the
- 10:11Speaker 1: whole thing is it's not good, you know, and you
- 10:14Speaker 1: have to do soul searching because if you won't accept
- 10:18Speaker 1: the anti Jewish talk, then you have to really be
- 10:21Speaker 1: down not to accept it across the board. It can't
- 10:24Speaker 1: be you pick and choose the people that you're gonna
- 10:27Speaker 1: stand by and defend or stand up for. I don't know,
- 10:30Speaker 1: it's been an interesting time because you never would have
- 10:32Speaker 1: thought Kanye West would have been sort of the spokesperson
- 10:35Speaker 1: for anti Semitism. Two. It's just a sort of a
- 10:39Speaker 1: far like a far out thing. It's gonna be one
- 10:41Speaker 1: of those things when you look back at the year two.
- 10:43Speaker 1: This will be like a highlighted part twenty years sort
- 10:46Speaker 1: of like, oh ship. Remember when Kanye West was saying
- 10:49Speaker 1: the wildest ship that I've ever heard about Jewish people
- 10:52Speaker 1: publicly from a successful person, Like he's saying everything. But
- 10:56Speaker 1: you know, then you think, like will he be back?
- 10:58Speaker 1: Will he is? They're coming back from him? Because mel
- 11:01Speaker 1: Gibson is is. I don't think mel Gibson ever publicly apologized.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I don't know if he did. I think he wrote
- 11:06Speaker 1: wrote a statement, but I don't know for sure if
- 11:09Speaker 1: you ever publicly apologized for his stuff. And you know,
- 11:12Speaker 1: I'm sure it's excuse to me he was on drugs
- 11:14Speaker 1: where he was drinking and and and you know, Kanye
- 11:17Speaker 1: probably said this, he was in a mental breakdown and
- 11:18Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah blah, and and whether you accept
- 11:21Speaker 1: those apologies is up teaching individual. I guess. So what
- 11:25Speaker 1: it was the podcast of the Freedman podcast, what what
- 11:27Speaker 1: kind of conversation. I mean, how did that go well?
- 11:30Speaker 1: The Freeman podcast. He's an engineer, he's one of these
- 11:33Speaker 1: smart guys, got a popular podcast. You know, he's one
- 11:37Speaker 1: of these sort of Joe Rogan has had him on.
- 11:39Speaker 1: He's one of these guys and their friends, and he's Jewish,
- 11:43Speaker 1: and he was trying to sort of explain to him
- 11:45Speaker 1: why he was doing a fair job. And he was
- 11:47Speaker 1: attempting to articulate why saying the Jewish media and why
- 11:53Speaker 1: saying these broad stroke statements are are not right, They're
- 11:56Speaker 1: not good, they're not acceptable. Why don't you just name names?
- 12:00Speaker 1: You get more done if you just say Jim, Alex,
- 12:04Speaker 1: Frank and Tommy. Are these people from these companies have
- 12:07Speaker 1: sucked me over? And this manager has fucked me over,
- 12:10Speaker 1: like instead of making these broad sweeping shows, and he
- 12:13Speaker 1: was trying to do that. The thing that frustrated me
- 12:16Speaker 1: is that it was going nowhere to the point where
- 12:19Speaker 1: he convinced him you shouldn't say Jewish media. And then
- 12:21Speaker 1: Kanye West was like, Okay, I'll just say jam and
- 12:25Speaker 1: that's where you go. Suck my dick the interviews over,
- 12:28Speaker 1: Get the funk off my show. As far as I'm
- 12:29Speaker 1: concerned as far as I'm because they're because you're we're
- 12:33Speaker 1: handling this guy with kick clubs, because he makes good
- 12:35Speaker 1: songs and he makes good sneakers, and inevitably you should
- 12:38Speaker 1: just be told, just like everybody else, to suck my dick.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Interviews over. That's it, that's how he needs to be treated.
- 12:44Speaker 1: But because he's famous, I think people are like tiptoe
- 12:48Speaker 1: around it. This guy seemed like he was tiptoe around it. Yeah,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I mean, even to give him a platform at this
- 12:53Speaker 1: point just seems stupid, Like it's not like he's going
- 12:55Speaker 1: to be convinced. You're not dealing with a rational person.
- 12:57Speaker 1: You're dealing with like a terrorist, you know what I mean.
- 12:59Speaker 1: And if say, if that's your friend, take him to dinner.
- 13:02Speaker 1: If you if you care about him, take him to
- 13:04Speaker 1: dinner and don't fill me like you know, like if
- 13:06Speaker 1: you want to explain to him your point of view
- 13:08Speaker 1: and that really is your friend, go I have a
- 13:10Speaker 1: private dinner somewhere. Take him to get a lobotomy, do
- 13:14Speaker 1: something you just can't rationalize with someone who's in their
- 13:17Speaker 1: mental illness choosing to not get treatment totally not rational
- 13:21Speaker 1: and having a manic episode. But we don't know, you know,
- 13:25Speaker 1: this idea of in their mental illness having a manic episode.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I haven't seen his paperwork, have you. I haven't seen
- 13:32Speaker 1: his diagnosis. Of course he's said he has bipolar disorder,
- 13:36Speaker 1: but we don't really know. It's not an excuse, it's
- 13:39Speaker 1: it's when I'm not on my lexa pro when not
- 13:42Speaker 1: when when I'm not hopped up on my twenty MILEXI pro.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I was just about to ask what kind of medication
- 13:47Speaker 1: you're on. I'm just on twenty mgs of a little lexepro.
- 13:50Speaker 1: That's all a little more stabilizing, just keeps me, you know,
- 13:54Speaker 1: keep in the pocket. I had to learn what that
- 13:58Speaker 1: me and that phrase Matt and keep you in the pocket.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Somebody said that. They were like, oh, you were so
- 14:02Speaker 1: in the pocket? I go, what does that mean? I
- 14:04Speaker 1: didn't even know what that phrase was. You didn't know.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I don't know how I missed that one. It's a
- 14:08Speaker 1: pretty big one. Is a music it's a music well
- 14:12Speaker 1: I think it's from a music thing. But you you say,
- 14:14Speaker 1: probably as a would somebody say to you in regard
- 14:16Speaker 1: to a performance. Yeah, yeah, it means like, yeah, you're
- 14:19Speaker 1: in the podcast, you're in this week Okay, copy that
- 14:22Speaker 1: you're in the flow. Michael, tell me about what you
- 14:25Speaker 1: think your best qualities are. What I think my best
- 14:28Speaker 1: qualities are. I think that probably one of my best
- 14:32Speaker 1: qualities is I have a dog like instinct to sniff
- 14:36Speaker 1: out bullshit. I think I'm generous. I think that I
- 14:42Speaker 1: am what babe, my wife is over here telling me. Yeah,
- 14:51Speaker 1: for better for words, I think I'm authentic. I think,
- 14:54Speaker 1: generally speaking, I think I'm I'm authentic. Wait, can you
- 14:57Speaker 1: bring your wife over? I want to say hi, Bige.
- 15:00Speaker 1: They want to say hi. Do you in the podcast? Hi? Hey?
- 15:04Speaker 1: How are you hi? Chelsea? I was sitting row when
- 15:08Speaker 1: you did busiest podcasts and I just wanted to be like,
- 15:11Speaker 1: I fucking love you. I mean her show that busy tonight. Yeah. Yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 1: When I say when I said he's authentic, I didn't
- 15:20Speaker 1: mean in that new fangled hippie dippy like I'm authentic.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I mean truly, he is one of the most what
- 15:26Speaker 1: you see is really what you get, and and truly
- 15:29Speaker 1: for better for worse, for better for worse. She can
- 15:32Speaker 1: tell you that he is not. We I've known him
- 15:35Speaker 1: for thirty years. He is not. There's no phony Bologney bullshit.
- 15:39Speaker 1: He does not. He gives zero fox. He is who
- 15:42Speaker 1: he is, he doesn't change he's he is totally generous,
- 15:46Speaker 1: he is authentic. And you know what, Alexa pro is
- 15:48Speaker 1: not a mood stabilizer the press. Bye. That's how she
- 15:59Speaker 1: deals with you every day. She's like, listen, this is
- 16:02Speaker 1: what actually happened. She has to deal with every day.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I know, I can't even imagine. She must be cool
- 16:07Speaker 1: as fuck. Yeah, she's She's cool, impatient, and you know,
- 16:11Speaker 1: we we have known each other for such a long time,
- 16:13Speaker 1: so there is a good understanding of each other, and
- 16:16Speaker 1: we've grown, We've grown with each other. Yeah, yeah, well
- 16:19Speaker 1: you've been Have you been dating for thirty years or
- 16:21Speaker 1: you've just known each other for the No? No, no,
- 16:23Speaker 1: well we dated ship. Hell no, we dated when we
- 16:27Speaker 1: were young. We met when we were young, twenty one
- 16:29Speaker 1: years old, and we dated for about four or five years,
- 16:33Speaker 1: and then we went our separate ways and then I
- 16:36Speaker 1: wind up getting married, I had two kids, got divorced,
- 16:39Speaker 1: and then twelve years ago we got back together again
- 16:43Speaker 1: and we got married. Five years ago. I think, oh wow,
- 16:47Speaker 1: that's a love story. It's it's a good love story.
- 16:50Speaker 1: It's a good love story. I mean, you know, we
- 16:51Speaker 1: know each other very well. Yeah, yeah, she must bring
- 16:55Speaker 1: out the best in you. Do you think that's true.
- 16:57Speaker 1: She definitely brings out the best of me. She pushes
- 17:00Speaker 1: me to be the best I could be. I hope,
- 17:02Speaker 1: hopefully I pushed her to be the best I could be.
- 17:04Speaker 1: You know, she's a good you know, I I need boundaries,
- 17:07Speaker 1: So she's good at keeping boundaries but also letting me
- 17:10Speaker 1: be myself. And I think I do the same thing
- 17:13Speaker 1: for her. And I think we support each other and
- 17:15Speaker 1: and our patient with each other and continue to get
- 17:19Speaker 1: to know each other. You know, sometimes I say that
- 17:21Speaker 1: to her and she's like, what do you mean? I say, like,
- 17:22Speaker 1: our relationship is continue to evolve. I think once if
- 17:26Speaker 1: you stop evolving in a relationship, whether it's a boy
- 17:30Speaker 1: girl romantic relationship or boy boy or girl girl romantically,
- 17:34Speaker 1: I don't want to get canceled here, any sort of
- 17:37Speaker 1: romantic relationship or even just a relationship with you know,
- 17:40Speaker 1: with your parents, or relationship with friends. Relationships need to evolve.
- 17:44Speaker 1: They need to evolve, and when when they don't, I
- 17:46Speaker 1: think you could get into a slippery slope. Yeah, well,
- 17:48Speaker 1: that's a very important thing for men to understand. Actually,
- 17:51Speaker 1: you know, there is an evolution. And also it's important
- 17:55Speaker 1: to grow as a person, to not remain fixed in
- 17:58Speaker 1: your line of thinking or your opinions or your viewpoints.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Because every phase of our lives or personality traits, it's
- 18:07Speaker 1: not a state of being. It's a state of mind.
- 18:09Speaker 1: And your states of mind can change over time and
- 18:11Speaker 1: when you learn new things. Yeah, and I find that
- 18:14Speaker 1: to be a very recurring theme with a lot of guys.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I guess guys are different now, you know, there's and
- 18:20Speaker 1: definitely younger guys are more open to understanding that things
- 18:23Speaker 1: are not fixed, Like you don't have just a personality
- 18:27Speaker 1: trait and like that's just the way I am. Where
- 18:29Speaker 1: there should be a desire to grow and move and improve.
- 18:33Speaker 1: You know, if you're a jealous person, you should know
- 18:36Speaker 1: that that's not you don't have to be that way.
- 18:38Speaker 1: You don't have to live your life like that way.
- 18:40Speaker 1: If you're if you have no self esteem, or if
- 18:41Speaker 1: you're insecure, that's also a state of mind, not a
- 18:44Speaker 1: state of being. I agree, And for me age, you know,
- 18:48Speaker 1: I'm fifty two now. Relationships not just romantic, whether it
- 18:53Speaker 1: be business, whether it be on set relationships or personal
- 18:58Speaker 1: relationships or even relationships with my family. Athletes talk about
- 19:01Speaker 1: the games slowing down, and that's when they get to
- 19:05Speaker 1: get into the pocket easier where the game slows down.
- 19:08Speaker 1: For me, relationships in life have slowed down a little
- 19:11Speaker 1: bit so I could see things better and not just react.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Because I'm a very reactive person, as you could imagine. Yeah,
- 19:17Speaker 1: I used to be really reactive as well, and then
- 19:19Speaker 1: I went to therapy and realized I don't have to
- 19:21Speaker 1: live like that. And it's a it's a load off
- 19:24Speaker 1: my shoulders because it's like, oh, I don't need to
- 19:26Speaker 1: react to everything. I agree. I agree, And there's a
- 19:29Speaker 1: real power and feeling when you don't react. You know,
- 19:32Speaker 1: there's a real power to it, to going okay, I
- 19:34Speaker 1: didn't react to that, or not inserting yourself where it's unnecessary.
- 19:38Speaker 1: It's a great hub to have gotten past. And anytime
- 19:41Speaker 1: I am reactive, I catch myself I'm like, wait a second,
- 19:44Speaker 1: you're not even thinking about what you're saying right now?
- 19:46Speaker 1: Do you want to say it? I'm like, oh no, no, no,
- 19:48Speaker 1: So just the awareness of it is even, you know,
- 19:50Speaker 1: like it's a whole thing of like a new way
- 19:52Speaker 1: of thinking, So I appreciate that a lot. All right,
- 19:55Speaker 1: So retake callers people calling for advice, so then you
- 19:58Speaker 1: you have to tell them what yeah, and you're going
- 20:00Speaker 1: to give them. Some of them are summer letters and
- 20:03Speaker 1: Summer Live on Zoom. So get ready, all right, I'm ready. Okay,
- 20:07Speaker 1: We're gonna take a quick break and then Michael, I
- 20:09Speaker 1: need you to put your pants back on and we're back. Great. Oh,
- 20:17Speaker 1: because I actually don't have on pain I know, I
- 20:20Speaker 1: didn't expect for you too, and actually did you request
- 20:22Speaker 1: that he didn't wear? Okay, we want to bring this
- 20:24Speaker 1: look back for men. Okay, it's such a flattering look,
- 20:28Speaker 1: a sweater with no pants on. I was like, how
- 20:31Speaker 1: the fund did she know I don't have pants on?
- 20:34Speaker 1: You started sitting, you kept sitting. I do have to
- 20:36Speaker 1: say I was excited for you to come on the show, Michael,
- 20:39Speaker 1: because when I was talking to Chelsea about like various
- 20:41Speaker 1: people that we might have upcoming, and your folks had
- 20:44Speaker 1: reached out to us and said, you know how about
- 20:45Speaker 1: Michael rap report and Chelsea just started laughing and then
- 20:49Speaker 1: continued laughing for like forty five seconds. I was like,
- 20:52Speaker 1: I think that's a yes. I love you funny because
- 20:56Speaker 1: I never met you, Chelsea, I've never met you in person. No,
- 21:00Speaker 1: that's so funny because I was going to say the
- 21:02Speaker 1: same thing. But any time I say that, everyone's like
- 21:03Speaker 1: we met three times. So I don't say that anymore
- 21:06Speaker 1: or they'll be like I was on your show. Uh No,
- 21:09Speaker 1: I didn't realize that we hadn't mad. It feels like
- 21:11Speaker 1: we have never like I've never I've never seen you
- 21:13Speaker 1: in real life, like I've never seen you before. Oh
- 21:16Speaker 1: that's weird, gust fix it. Yeah, Well, we'll run into
- 21:18Speaker 1: each other at some point, I'm sure for sure. Well,
- 21:22Speaker 1: our first question is an email, and this comes from
- 21:27Speaker 1: l Hi Chelsea. I'm a woman in my early forties,
- 21:31Speaker 1: and unfortunately I'm sleeping with a Republican. We've been seeing
- 21:35Speaker 1: one another for about four plus years. I know we
- 21:38Speaker 1: don't usually do a lot of political questions, but I
- 21:41Speaker 1: felt like, you know, this is a kind of a
- 21:43Speaker 1: good one. We've been seeing each other for four plus
- 21:45Speaker 1: years and love one another. The sex is ridiculously amazing.
- 21:49Speaker 1: He's my favorite person, and we get along great as
- 21:52Speaker 1: long as we don't discuss any sort of social or
- 21:54Speaker 1: political issues. We're both divorced, and have children, so we
- 21:58Speaker 1: have zero rush to live together or the serious future
- 22:01Speaker 1: right now, since our priorities are our children. I love him,
- 22:04Speaker 1: but lately our differences are becoming increasingly apparent, and I'm
- 22:07Speaker 1: irritated and angry. He's a cop and former marine. I'm
- 22:12Speaker 1: a doctor who works primarily with kids and teens, many
- 22:15Speaker 1: of them being transgender or lgbt Q. I've seen firsthand
- 22:19Speaker 1: the effects discrimination and marginalization can have on people and
- 22:22Speaker 1: how traumatizing it can be, and I care deeply about
- 22:25Speaker 1: how others are treated and their emotional well being. My
- 22:28Speaker 1: partner mocks pronoun usage and frankly seems transphobic and homophobic.
- 22:33Speaker 1: I'm pretty passionate about equality and give as much as
- 22:35Speaker 1: I can to support causes I believe in that make
- 22:37Speaker 1: a difference, whether through volunteer work or donations. I'm from
- 22:41Speaker 1: an affluent family. I'm educated and relatively well off, yet
- 22:44Speaker 1: I don't mind having to pay my share in taxes
- 22:47Speaker 1: if it means bettering the lives of others who have less.
- 22:50Speaker 1: He had a very different upbringing than I did, and
- 22:52Speaker 1: has had to work hard to be in the financial
- 22:54Speaker 1: position he's in now. He makes two K year or
- 22:57Speaker 1: so so he's not exactly underpaid. He gets up set
- 23:00Speaker 1: every time a law is passed that provides more social
- 23:02Speaker 1: or financial support to others. I won't get into our
- 23:05Speaker 1: differences with vaccines and mask use, but I'm pretty sure
- 23:08Speaker 1: you can guess where each of us stands on those issues.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I was previously able to ignore our differences and just
- 23:14Speaker 1: not discuss them, but as someone who has only become
- 23:17Speaker 1: increasingly passionate about social justice issues and politics, it's now
- 23:21Speaker 1: impossible to bite my tongue. What's more, his social media
- 23:24Speaker 1: is a ton of let's go Brandon, anti vax or
- 23:27Speaker 1: yea guns stuff that I find disgusting and immature. He's
- 23:31Speaker 1: made all of his accounts private because I got upset
- 23:34Speaker 1: over his content and reposting of some very discriminatory posts
- 23:37Speaker 1: and tweets. I've overheard him use terms like stupid vaxers
- 23:41Speaker 1: and lib tards to describe people who are well, just
- 23:44Speaker 1: like me. It feels like he has zero respect for
- 23:47Speaker 1: the work I do with LGBTQ youth, anyone who isn't
- 23:50Speaker 1: a white male, and sadly me, I'm angry. I'm hurt,
- 23:54Speaker 1: but worse, I'm conflicted about staying in this relationship. I
- 23:57Speaker 1: know I can't change his views, but I think we
- 23:59Speaker 1: may be too different and have too many conflicting values
- 24:02Speaker 1: for this to work. Our chemistry and sex life are
- 24:04Speaker 1: out of this world hot, but I'm wondering if maybe
- 24:07Speaker 1: that's all there is, and we're just too different to
- 24:09Speaker 1: stay together much longer. I should add he isn't bothered
- 24:12Speaker 1: by any of this. Any advice on how to handle
- 24:15Speaker 1: having someone in my life whose world views are so
- 24:17Speaker 1: contrary to my own, or is this a lost cause?
- 24:20Speaker 1: L I mean it sounds like it's a lost cause
- 24:23Speaker 1: quite frankly, because he's so aggressive. I mean, it's one
- 24:27Speaker 1: thing to be a Republican, but it's another thing to
- 24:30Speaker 1: actively be against trans children, or be homophobic or throwing
- 24:36Speaker 1: around phrases like let's go Brandon and libtard doesn't invoke
- 24:40Speaker 1: any sort of healthy state of mind in my opinion.
- 24:44Speaker 1: And yes, sex is great, but guess what, you can
- 24:46Speaker 1: suck a bunch of other people and have great sex also,
- 24:49Speaker 1: like who gives a ship? If the sex is great,
- 24:50Speaker 1: that is not enough of a reason to stay in
- 24:52Speaker 1: a relationship. If it was just like a fly by night,
- 24:54Speaker 1: I would say, sure, Yeah, I keep having sex with him,
- 24:56Speaker 1: But clearly you're getting aggravated and the value system is
- 25:00Speaker 1: on opposing ends of the spectrum. So there's no point
- 25:03Speaker 1: in continuing that because you're just going to enervate yourself
- 25:06Speaker 1: by even being in the same relationship with him. And
- 25:09Speaker 1: and yeah, blocking I mean not being able to follo
- 25:12Speaker 1: him on social media because his supposts are so upsetting,
- 25:14Speaker 1: Like that's kind of a deal breaker. I mean, it
- 25:17Speaker 1: is a value it's a value issue. Your values are
- 25:19Speaker 1: different than his. Michael, what do you think I agree?
- 25:22Speaker 1: I mean at first, I was, you know, at the
- 25:24Speaker 1: beginning of the letter, I was going to be like,
- 25:27Speaker 1: you know, just seemed to just so, I I agree
- 25:31Speaker 1: with what everything you're saying. When you're funny, you funk
- 25:34Speaker 1: the sex whatever, what do you I mean, what do
- 25:36Speaker 1: you like? There's plenty of people you could have good
- 25:38Speaker 1: sex with, So you gotta shut down. What's this lady's name?
- 25:41Speaker 1: L got to shut it down? Okay, shut it down
- 25:46Speaker 1: now and listen. It was just like a light thing,
- 25:49Speaker 1: But it sounds like it's not a light thing because
- 25:50Speaker 1: that would be kind of kinky, like, oh, you know,
- 25:53Speaker 1: while you're having sex with him, he's like, you dumb,
- 25:55Speaker 1: fucking lived toward let's go Brandon, and that could be
- 25:58Speaker 1: like a kinky kind of sex old thing, but it's
- 26:00Speaker 1: this seems like a more interpersonal relationship. So I feel
- 26:03Speaker 1: like the relationship, you need to shut it down. You
- 26:05Speaker 1: guys are adults, so you need to shut it down. Also,
- 26:08Speaker 1: you know, I would love to say, sure, you could
- 26:10Speaker 1: date somebody who's a Republican. I would like that to
- 26:13Speaker 1: be true. But in this stage that we're in, it's
- 26:15Speaker 1: pretty being a Republican represents restricting women's rights, it represents
- 26:20Speaker 1: restricting gay rights, trans rights, any marginalized group, like, it
- 26:24Speaker 1: stands for a lot more than it used to in
- 26:26Speaker 1: terms of oppression and and contraction of human rights. So
- 26:32Speaker 1: it's not really feasible that, I mean, everything is so divisive.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I wish it weren't this way, but it is. And like, unfortunately,
- 26:39Speaker 1: you're living in a time where Republicans do represent all
- 26:42Speaker 1: of those things. If you're voting for a Republican candidate,
- 26:45Speaker 1: especially because of your like what's coming out of your pocketbook,
- 26:48Speaker 1: I mean, that's just the lamest excuse ever for voting
- 26:51Speaker 1: for anybody at the cost of everyone else's rights. The
- 26:53Speaker 1: world is never gonna be white again. Okay, so just
- 26:56Speaker 1: fucking shut up about it already. It's never gonna be
- 26:58Speaker 1: like that. There's two much of a population of people
- 27:02Speaker 1: who are brown and black, and that is going to
- 27:04Speaker 1: be the majority, which is what scares the funk out
- 27:06Speaker 1: of Republicans. But it's like, just be loving. Don't you
- 27:10Speaker 1: want to live in a loving, nice place where people
- 27:12Speaker 1: are friendly and not screaming at each other and yelling
- 27:15Speaker 1: about guns. Fuck off? So yeah, leave him? Okay. I agree.
- 27:20Speaker 1: It's one thing to have different political beliefs than someone.
- 27:24Speaker 1: It's a different thing to have a varying degree of
- 27:26Speaker 1: value on human life. And this seems to extreme. This
- 27:30Speaker 1: is not even political, This is like values and and
- 27:33Speaker 1: he's blocking you on social media because he's posting wild ship.
- 27:36Speaker 1: That's crazy. These are how old is? How old is?
- 27:40Speaker 1: Mid forties? Come? Yeah? And especially there are kids involved.
- 27:44Speaker 1: If you do want a long term relationship with this guy,
- 27:47Speaker 1: you are eventually going to have him around your kids.
- 27:49Speaker 1: So like, is that someone you want instilling their values
- 27:51Speaker 1: and your kids? Probably not? No, definitely not. And you
- 27:54Speaker 1: know what, having sex with somebody who values women's rights
- 27:57Speaker 1: is going to be a lot hotter than having sex
- 27:59Speaker 1: with this guy up all right, now solved. They'll be
- 28:02Speaker 1: able to tell by the way he touches your hair. Well.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Our next question is a coller. This is Jackie. Dear Chelsea.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I'm in love with two different men, and what's worse
- 28:17Speaker 1: sins they're both in love with me like this story. Yeah,
- 28:21Speaker 1: eventually I have to break someone's heart, and I can't
- 28:24Speaker 1: imagine doing that to anyone. These men are both polar
- 28:27Speaker 1: opposites of each other. I relate to them in different
- 28:29Speaker 1: areas of life. The chemical connection is insane with each guy.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Both of them tell me they're so in love with
- 28:36Speaker 1: me and that I'm the love of their lives, and
- 28:38Speaker 1: I truly believe both of them. It's incredible and yet
- 28:41Speaker 1: incredibly painful at the same time. I just want you
- 28:43Speaker 1: to know while we're reading this, Michael is licking his lips. Well,
- 28:47Speaker 1: that's because they're dry. Somebody just popped. Yeah, that's the call.
- 28:51Speaker 1: She's gonna be two and two together, Michael, I got it,
- 28:58Speaker 1: I got I don't know what the is going on here, obviously,
- 29:01Speaker 1: she says, I don't know how to choose. One guy
- 29:04Speaker 1: is my boyfriend of two years and the other is
- 29:06Speaker 1: my ex boyfriend that has come back into my life.
- 29:08Speaker 1: My current boyfriend has been very difficult lately, and my
- 29:11Speaker 1: ex boyfriend has really done the work to figure himself out.
- 29:15Speaker 1: The sex is also amazing with both, but a little
- 29:17Speaker 1: better with my current boyfriend, and that area of the
- 29:19Speaker 1: relationship is very important to me. I need someone who's
- 29:23Speaker 1: not afraid to tell me like it is. Help Jackie,
- 29:26Speaker 1: and I should clarify she's not sleeping with both of
- 29:29Speaker 1: them currently. She just remembers the ex from before, right, Jackie. Yes, okay,
- 29:35Speaker 1: Hi Jackie, Right Jackie. You sure you're not sleeping with
- 29:39Speaker 1: them both? Not currently? Okay? So you're still in love
- 29:45Speaker 1: with your ex boyfriend and you're in love with your
- 29:46Speaker 1: new boyfriend and you're only sleeping with your new boyfriend. Yes, okay.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I was hoping that you were sleeping with both of
- 29:52Speaker 1: them at the same time, just because I love drama,
- 29:54Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I mean, yeah, that would
- 29:57Speaker 1: be nice, but now that's not my Okay. Well, that's
- 29:59Speaker 1: nice of you not to do that, because that's, yeah,
- 30:01Speaker 1: cheating isn't nice. So how long were you with your
- 30:05Speaker 1: ex boyfriend? Not that long, like six months and then
- 30:09Speaker 1: you guys broke up because why, Well, I was divorced
- 30:14Speaker 1: for about a year when I met him, and he
- 30:17Speaker 1: was my first boyfriend's sense of divorce and so I
- 30:21Speaker 1: was kind of crazy and so he ended it. Uh huh.
- 30:25Speaker 1: And so when you say he came back now that
- 30:28Speaker 1: he's done the work, what does that mean. Oh, he
- 30:31Speaker 1: went to therapy, he did a lot of work on himself.
- 30:33Speaker 1: He's very like emotionally available and everything like that. So yeah,
- 30:40Speaker 1: the ex boyfriends, Yes, how do you know that now?
- 30:44Speaker 1: Because you were in a relationship with the new boyfriend,
- 30:46Speaker 1: Like he might be presenting himself that way, but you
- 30:49Speaker 1: can only really tell from being in the trenches with somebody. Yeah,
- 30:54Speaker 1: I understand that, but I've known him for a long
- 30:57Speaker 1: time and I know his family, like they all surround
- 31:00Speaker 1: me in this neighborhood that I live in, so I'm
- 31:03Speaker 1: surrounded by his entire family, so they are like well
- 31:07Speaker 1: known to me. So how long have you guys been
- 31:11Speaker 1: broken up? Three years? And how long have you been
- 31:14Speaker 1: with the new guy two and a half? Okay, and
- 31:19Speaker 1: so your ex boyfriend is actively trying to get you back? Yes? Interesting, Yeah,
- 31:25Speaker 1: that is they both tell me the same thing like
- 31:29Speaker 1: all the time. And does your current boyfriend know that
- 31:31Speaker 1: your ex boyfriend is trying to get you back. Oh no, okay, okay,
- 31:37Speaker 1: this is juicy. It is crazy. I feel like it's
- 31:40Speaker 1: a very embarrassing problem. Why because it sounds like a
- 31:45Speaker 1: soap opera and that is not my life. Yeah, but
- 31:49Speaker 1: some people, some people have this stuff going on. That's
- 31:52Speaker 1: nothing to be embarrassed about. It's cute. You have two
- 31:54Speaker 1: guys that love you and you have to choose. That's
- 31:57Speaker 1: a horrible it's horrible. It's agony. Do you feel like
- 32:00Speaker 1: you're in love with both of them? Yes? Absolutely, And
- 32:04Speaker 1: you're having an emotional affair with your ex boyfriend while
- 32:08Speaker 1: you're with your boyfriend sort of yes, So are you
- 32:12Speaker 1: going out and like seeing the ax? Have you guys
- 32:15Speaker 1: been in contact in person and letters? Like what's the
- 32:18Speaker 1: vibe there? Well, it's crazy because he has a ton
- 32:20Speaker 1: of siblings and they all have children, and so we
- 32:22Speaker 1: see each other like sports games and stuff like that,
- 32:25Speaker 1: and like we you know, we do we see each other.
- 32:27Speaker 1: So it's kind of is there lingering hugs and ship
- 32:30Speaker 1: like that? No, nothing like that. But he's just more
- 32:34Speaker 1: emotionally available than like my current boyfriend. So like the
- 32:37Speaker 1: lacking and my current boyfriend is not helping anything. The
- 32:42Speaker 1: grass is always greener on the other side, absolutely, and
- 32:45Speaker 1: that's I'm very self aware, Like I'm not going to
- 32:48Speaker 1: go move to an ex boyfriend just because of the
- 32:50Speaker 1: lacking and my current boyfriend. That's not going to happen.
- 32:54Speaker 1: So what do you like about your current boyfriend? Tell
- 32:56Speaker 1: us all the good things about him. I mean, he's
- 32:58Speaker 1: pretty amazing. A lot there are polar opposites. My current
- 33:01Speaker 1: boyfriend is like type A. He played rugby in college.
- 33:05Speaker 1: He's a business guy. He's very like active, he did
- 33:08Speaker 1: half iron Man's like all that type of stuff, and
- 33:11Speaker 1: he's very very fun. We have the best time together
- 33:14Speaker 1: doing absolutely nothing, which is the best. But my ex
- 33:17Speaker 1: boyfriend was We had fun doing nothing as well. He's
- 33:20Speaker 1: just more relaxed, easy going things like that. So I
- 33:24Speaker 1: don't know, I'm kind of leaning towards your ex boyfriend.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I like, like, I like a like a story like that,
- 33:31Speaker 1: like where you break up and then the person goes
- 33:33Speaker 1: and takes care of their ship and then they come back.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Like I find that to be very romantic. But I
- 33:38Speaker 1: can't really decide for you who you like more. I mean,
- 33:41Speaker 1: that is a tough situation to be in. You have
- 33:44Speaker 1: to sit and like literally meditate on it and close
- 33:47Speaker 1: your eyes and figure out what the feeling that comes
- 33:50Speaker 1: to you is. Well right, And not only that, but
- 33:52Speaker 1: I'm very aware that it could be no one I
- 33:54Speaker 1: could end up with neither of them, Like, none of
- 33:57Speaker 1: them could work out. So I don't know, it's very
- 33:59Speaker 1: hard to tell, like what outweighs what? You know? What
- 34:03Speaker 1: I mean? Yeah, So what are the conversations around him
- 34:06Speaker 1: pursuing you while you're in a relationship. Are you allowing
- 34:09Speaker 1: that to keep going? Or did you say, hey, like
- 34:11Speaker 1: this is disrespectful to a degree, because if your current
- 34:14Speaker 1: boyfriend found that out, he'd be fucking pissed. Oh yeah,
- 34:17Speaker 1: he's doing that to me, I'd be fucking pissed. So yeah,
- 34:19Speaker 1: I completely understand when I put that in perspective, But um,
- 34:23Speaker 1: I hate to hurt anyone's feelings. And that's the biggest
- 34:27Speaker 1: problem I have. Whatever I choose, someone is going to
- 34:31Speaker 1: be heartbroken, and I don't want to do that to
- 34:33Speaker 1: either of them. Yeah, but if your ex boyfriend is heartbroken, like,
- 34:36Speaker 1: that's not your responsibility his heartbreak, right, You're not with him,
- 34:40Speaker 1: So and you guys have been broken up for a
- 34:41Speaker 1: period of time and you're in another relationship. Yeah, and
- 34:44Speaker 1: he broke up with me first, so that's right. Yeah,
- 34:50Speaker 1: what are some of the you said there's some complications
- 34:52Speaker 1: with your current boyfriend? What what's going on there? The
- 34:56Speaker 1: time limit that we have together is not enough for me.
- 34:58Speaker 1: We've been together for two a half years, so I mean,
- 35:01Speaker 1: I would like to move in together soon. He says
- 35:03Speaker 1: that we will. I know he wants to get married,
- 35:05Speaker 1: but it's just not moving quick enough for me. And
- 35:08Speaker 1: we live a half hour apart, and he doesn't really
- 35:10Speaker 1: come here that often. I usually go there a lot,
- 35:13Speaker 1: So that's a problem, just the availability. Okay, well wait,
- 35:17Speaker 1: you just said something that leads me to believe that.
- 35:19Speaker 1: You say you want to move in with him, and
- 35:23Speaker 1: the only reason you're hesitant about that is or he
- 35:26Speaker 1: seems to be putting it off for whatever reason or
- 35:28Speaker 1: not doing it in your timeline, But that is that
- 35:31Speaker 1: implies that you want to be with him, that you
- 35:33Speaker 1: want to spend the rest of your life with him,
- 35:35Speaker 1: if you want to move in with him. So I
- 35:37Speaker 1: feel like the other guys irrelevant in that situation. If
- 35:40Speaker 1: those circumstances changed right. Well, it just feel like, you know,
- 35:44Speaker 1: if my current boyfriend wanted to be with me really bad,
- 35:47Speaker 1: he would show me the effort and like moving forward,
- 35:50Speaker 1: and that's not happening. So it's like, if you wanted
- 35:52Speaker 1: to be with me, I would know, you know what
- 35:54Speaker 1: I mean? Do you ask him for like a more
- 35:58Speaker 1: concrete timeline I have. We've had like a zillion conversations
- 36:02Speaker 1: about it until I'm blue in the face and I'm
- 36:04Speaker 1: kind of like over it by now. What is his response?
- 36:07Speaker 1: What does he say? Oh? He just says like, yeah,
- 36:10Speaker 1: I do want to live with you, I do want
- 36:11Speaker 1: to get married, and I believe him he does. It's
- 36:14Speaker 1: just to get him to move like in any sort
- 36:18Speaker 1: of way, any sort of action. He is not a
- 36:20Speaker 1: planner by any means, so for him to do anything
- 36:24Speaker 1: is like pulling teeth. Well, you could kill two birds
- 36:26Speaker 1: with one stone. You can just break up with your
- 36:28Speaker 1: current boyfriend and get back together with your AX, and
- 36:30Speaker 1: I bet you the current boyfriend will be ready to
- 36:32Speaker 1: move in as that would be the case. I probed
- 36:39Speaker 1: my boyfriend today, he would text me in or call
- 36:43Speaker 1: me in like a month or two in crying or
- 36:45Speaker 1: something like. That's the way it works. Yeah, always, always, Michael,
- 36:48Speaker 1: what are your thoughts on having to pending relationships one
- 36:51Speaker 1: relationship and one x lever. It's just seems confusing, And
- 36:56Speaker 1: I think that essentially, Jackie, I think having an emotional
- 37:01Speaker 1: affair with your ex boyfriend and you know that your
- 37:04Speaker 1: current boyfriend wouldn't like that, you might have to kick
- 37:07Speaker 1: both these dudes to the curb. You might have to
- 37:09Speaker 1: start from scratch because neither one of them might not
- 37:11Speaker 1: be the guy for you for a long term thing. Well,
- 37:14Speaker 1: that's what I'm thinking. I feel like they're lacking. They
- 37:17Speaker 1: pick up what each other lacks. They both Yeah, may
- 37:19Speaker 1: not work out, that's a real reality. Or you could
- 37:22Speaker 1: just be honest with your real current boyfriend and tell
- 37:25Speaker 1: him that you're having an emotional affair with your ex
- 37:27Speaker 1: boyfriend because of what's lacking in your relationship today. Yeah,
- 37:31Speaker 1: you got options because if he breaks up with you,
- 37:33Speaker 1: you could just go back with that other gie. Just
- 37:37Speaker 1: make him make the decision for me. Well, yeah, I mean,
- 37:39Speaker 1: why not just be honest about it. I mean that
- 37:42Speaker 1: is the best form of communication, is like laying it
- 37:45Speaker 1: out there, and that way you don't have anything to
- 37:47Speaker 1: feel guilty about. Be like listen, this is lacking. I'm
- 37:49Speaker 1: a little bit bummed about how slowly this is moving
- 37:52Speaker 1: and I want to be living together. You don't want this.
- 37:54Speaker 1: So I've started talking to my ex boyfriend, and guess what,
- 37:56Speaker 1: he's really in love with me, and I feel like
- 37:58Speaker 1: I get something from him that I'm not get from
- 38:00Speaker 1: this relationship. This is worth discussing if we're going to
- 38:02Speaker 1: move forward or not. You know. Yeah, and I haven't
- 38:05Speaker 1: told him about my ex boyfriend, but I have kind
- 38:07Speaker 1: of like shut things down with him a little bit.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Like we're not completely broken up or anything, but I'm
- 38:11Speaker 1: saying I can't wait one more day for him to
- 38:14Speaker 1: make a move on anything. So we're kind of we're
- 38:18Speaker 1: not not together, but we're not together either. I know
- 38:20Speaker 1: that's messy, but like that's kind of the city we're
- 38:23Speaker 1: in right now. Yeah, it sounds like, yeah, you're in
- 38:25Speaker 1: a messy part of your life a little bit, which
- 38:27Speaker 1: is fine because then you know around the corner is
- 38:30Speaker 1: like normal adulthood or healthy, healthier circumstances. Well, then great,
- 38:35Speaker 1: you have the opportunity. You guys are separated sort of
- 38:37Speaker 1: like go and just tell him this now, Like, Okay,
- 38:39Speaker 1: if you want to do something. This is the time
- 38:41Speaker 1: frame I needed to happen, otherwise I may start dating
- 38:43Speaker 1: my ex boyfriend. I think if you do, like actually
- 38:47Speaker 1: break up with the current boyfriend ish situation, you have
- 38:51Speaker 1: to bang the X like you have to even if
- 38:53Speaker 1: you don't date them, just like at least once. Oh yeah,
- 38:56Speaker 1: for sure. I've wanted to be like a ho ho
- 39:00Speaker 1: girl summer forever and I've never got because I'm always
- 39:03Speaker 1: in a relationship. So maybe I'll just done both of
- 39:06Speaker 1: them and by summer I can go out with anyone
- 39:08Speaker 1: I want. Yeah, So that's a long lead until summer. Yeah. Yeah,
- 39:12Speaker 1: but I have to get in shape too. So that's
- 39:14Speaker 1: because just take some those epic you'll be fine. You
- 39:17Speaker 1: don't have to get in shape. Everyone's on ozempic now. So, Michael,
- 39:21Speaker 1: do you have any thoughts about like getting back with
- 39:23Speaker 1: an X because Michael was telling us his wife they
- 39:25Speaker 1: had data when they were in the early twenties and
- 39:27Speaker 1: then they you know, went their separate ways and came
- 39:30Speaker 1: back together and are married. Or did you always love
- 39:32Speaker 1: your current wife now even when you were with your
- 39:35Speaker 1: other wife, not in any sort of I mean in
- 39:38Speaker 1: a broad picture, we were like we didn't my wife, Kibi.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Now you know, I'm a I'm a burn the building
- 39:45Speaker 1: and the street and the city down type of person.
- 39:47Speaker 1: A lot of times when I end relationships. This is
- 39:49Speaker 1: the only relationship where it kind of ended in a
- 39:52Speaker 1: even though didn't relationships ends always sad, but it was
- 39:55Speaker 1: always like we always stayed in in good graces and
- 39:57Speaker 1: we were always like loving to each other. But that
- 40:00Speaker 1: being said, I mean it was just timing, you know,
- 40:02Speaker 1: it's you know this, it was years. It was years
- 40:05Speaker 1: and years and years that we that we weren't together. So,
- 40:08Speaker 1: I mean, each situation is different. I mean I have
- 40:10Speaker 1: no problem, you know with getting back with people. Each
- 40:14Speaker 1: situation so specific and different. So when you were with
- 40:17Speaker 1: your one wife and if you saw your other wife,
- 40:20Speaker 1: did you feel any certain way loving, very loving, but
- 40:24Speaker 1: not not anything to be ashamed of or like I'm
- 40:28Speaker 1: talking like chemistry wise, like you don't feel that like buzz. Honestly,
- 40:32Speaker 1: it's hard to answer that because it's such a long
- 40:34Speaker 1: time ago. But it doesn't. It wasn't. It wasn't as complicated.
- 40:38Speaker 1: You're in conundrum. Yeah, no, ship, you're in You're in conundrum, Jackie, Jackie,
- 40:44Speaker 1: tell me this, if you never saw either one of them. Again,
- 40:48Speaker 1: is there one that you would feel like he's the
- 40:50Speaker 1: one that got away? Yes, my current boyfriend for sure.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Well I think that's your answer that I think you
- 40:57Speaker 1: owe it to him to just be really honest and
- 40:59Speaker 1: put it all out there, like you have nothing to lose. Well, yeah, absolutely,
- 41:02Speaker 1: but I feel like I deserve more than what he's
- 41:04Speaker 1: giving me. If you going to give me anymore, then
- 41:07Speaker 1: that's that anyways. Yes, even if even if my ex
- 41:11Speaker 1: boyfriend didn't show up, like this still isn't enough for
- 41:14Speaker 1: me anyway, So it would probably you know what I mean,
- 41:17Speaker 1: And that's what needs Yeah, you've got to communicate that
- 41:19Speaker 1: to him, like if you want to keep me, this
- 41:22Speaker 1: moves to the next level and if not, cool like
- 41:24Speaker 1: I gotta. It's so weird that women always have to
- 41:27Speaker 1: give men ultimatums like I just it's so annoying to
- 41:31Speaker 1: have to even do that. Like I understand your frustration
- 41:34Speaker 1: because you wanted to be a mutual affection, Like you
- 41:36Speaker 1: shouldn't have to worry about whether somebody's gonna want you
- 41:39Speaker 1: to move in. It should be like you both are
- 41:41Speaker 1: like yeah, we're doing that, we're moving in together. We're
- 41:43Speaker 1: in love, So I can understand why you're not feeling that,
- 41:46Speaker 1: you know, respect or the other person should want it
- 41:49Speaker 1: just as much as me. And if he doesn't, then
- 41:51Speaker 1: I feel like that's a sign. How old are you? Okay,
- 41:56Speaker 1: So you're yeah, you're a grown up. Yeah, I mean
- 41:59Speaker 1: I've been married, divorced, gone through relationships, therapy, the whole thing.
- 42:04Speaker 1: So I'm very like, I'm very self aware of what's
- 42:06Speaker 1: going on. That's why this messy situation is not like
- 42:09Speaker 1: suiting me. Yeah, Like I think the advice would be
- 42:13Speaker 1: different if you were you know. And also I'm not
- 42:17Speaker 1: telling like anyone about this. You're the first people I've
- 42:20Speaker 1: ever talk The whole world's gonna know now. Oh, I'm
- 42:24Speaker 1: not telling anyone. We're keeping her video private private share
- 42:29Speaker 1: A video won't go up. They'll just hear her voice.
- 42:32Speaker 1: So what are we leaving with? What am I telling
- 42:34Speaker 1: your what to do? I don't fucking know. Tell me answers?
- 42:39Speaker 1: I know, I know, I mean, I I just well,
- 42:42Speaker 1: I think first things first, you have to have the
- 42:44Speaker 1: conversation with your ex, I mean with your current boyfriend.
- 42:47Speaker 1: You have to have a conversation and go listen, forget
- 42:49Speaker 1: about this little area you're in this gray area. You're
- 42:52Speaker 1: you want black and white, like are you guys going
- 42:55Speaker 1: to move in together or not? And if you're not,
- 42:57Speaker 1: that's fine, You're going to move on and just let
- 42:58Speaker 1: him know that. You don't have to men and the
- 43:00Speaker 1: ex boyfriend, you don't have to threaten him with whom.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Just say I'm good, I'm ready to move on. If
- 43:04Speaker 1: you're not going to do this and get that out
- 43:06Speaker 1: of the way, then see what he says. If the
- 43:08Speaker 1: answer is no, I'm not ready, then go great, and
- 43:10Speaker 1: then you can go. You have every right to go
- 43:12Speaker 1: date your ex boyfriend and see if that is something
- 43:14Speaker 1: that you want. And then I guarantee you this guy
- 43:17Speaker 1: is going to come around. And once he loses you,
- 43:19Speaker 1: that's what happens in every single relationship. One person leaves
- 43:22Speaker 1: and then the other person is like, what can I do?
- 43:26Speaker 1: I know my ex husband's the same way, Like he
- 43:28Speaker 1: still wants to get back together. Everybody wants to get
- 43:30Speaker 1: back together with you. Yeah, after they're done, sure, but yeah,
- 43:36Speaker 1: I don't know. It's a really hard thing and I
- 43:38Speaker 1: don't want to hurt anybody that's don't worry about that.
- 43:40Speaker 1: You can't control that. Do what you want to do
- 43:42Speaker 1: what's best for you, don't worry about hurting anybody. Have
- 43:44Speaker 1: that conversation. Are you gonna do this? You're gonna have
- 43:47Speaker 1: the conversation with your current guy and an honest already
- 43:50Speaker 1: have like we're on like a not talking basis for
- 43:53Speaker 1: a couple of days now, okay, so when you can
- 43:55Speaker 1: talk again, have this conversation. Yeah, okay, And like if
- 44:00Speaker 1: you need to go be a hobiah and tell us
- 44:02Speaker 1: about it, Yeah, totally don't feel bad about being a
- 44:04Speaker 1: hoe either for me. Who knows. Yeah, Michael still licking
- 44:08Speaker 1: his lips. Yeah, well, it's also it's also I didn't
- 44:14Speaker 1: sleep when you guys said go be a hobo. You know.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I think that's I think that's you know, I think
- 44:19Speaker 1: women these days this is kind of like talked about.
- 44:22Speaker 1: But I think it's a lot harder to do. It's
- 44:26Speaker 1: a lot easier to say than actually do for women
- 44:29Speaker 1: to actually go be go be hoes. I don't care
- 44:32Speaker 1: to do it. It might be the easiest thing rather
- 44:39Speaker 1: than Yeah, it's definitely fun to like have a bunch
- 44:43Speaker 1: of guys that you're juggling. That's fun. I've done that
- 44:46Speaker 1: in my life before, and I like that feeling because
- 44:48Speaker 1: there's no ties to anyone and you're just like you
- 44:51Speaker 1: can let people know you're not available for anything more
- 44:53Speaker 1: serious and most guys are totally downe with that anyway.
- 44:56Speaker 1: So oh yeah, yeah, for sure. Well Jackie, let us
- 45:03Speaker 1: know what you posted. When you make your fucking decision
- 45:05Speaker 1: and make some and take some action and let us
- 45:08Speaker 1: know what happens. I will thank you so much, all right, Jackie.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Sorry Jackie By, that's a stumper that was all over
- 45:17Speaker 1: the shop. I was like, wait, what and then they're
- 45:20Speaker 1: not together. It's like, wait, I don't understand. I was
- 45:22Speaker 1: excited when I thought she was having an affair. I
- 45:25Speaker 1: love to listen. This is I love listening to people
- 45:30Speaker 1: talk about affairs like I love on shows when there's affairs,
- 45:32Speaker 1: I love it. I don't know why I wanted that too,
- 45:36Speaker 1: I rued it. Sorry, guys, I wanted I wanted it.
- 45:39Speaker 1: I wanted it more messy. I want some Jerry Spring
- 45:43Speaker 1: your ship coming at us with your messy staff. Guys, Well,
- 45:47Speaker 1: our next color is lucky. Lucky says. I'm not sure
- 45:52Speaker 1: if you'll ever read this, but what the hell? Three
- 45:54Speaker 1: months ago I started doing stand up after I graduated
- 45:57Speaker 1: from college and film. A lot of my professor has
- 46:00Speaker 1: told me to go into grad school or some sort
- 46:02Speaker 1: of writing program for comedy, so I went with the
- 46:04Speaker 1: free option of stand up. Apparently I'm very good, which
- 46:07Speaker 1: is still surprising to me since a lot of my
- 46:09Speaker 1: material is me being a lesbian and non binary and
- 46:12Speaker 1: I live in the close thing to a city in Montana.
- 46:15Speaker 1: A lot of comics in my area I've looked up
- 46:17Speaker 1: to have praised and supported me these past three months,
- 46:20Speaker 1: and I'm forever grateful. Recently want to even help me
- 46:23Speaker 1: get my first paid guest spot for an upcoming show.
- 46:26Speaker 1: The one thing that all the comedians have told me
- 46:28Speaker 1: that I should work on is my confidence. Like a
- 46:31Speaker 1: lot of comedians, I'm a byproduct of trauma, autism, and
- 46:34Speaker 1: Catholic shame, so I can sometimes crumble with my confidence
- 46:37Speaker 1: waivers and always have the cadence of someone who's unsure
- 46:40Speaker 1: what they're saying. Even though I'm only going to be
- 46:42Speaker 1: on the stage for five minutes, i still want to
- 46:44Speaker 1: do really well since there's a guy there who books
- 46:47Speaker 1: you more gigs if he likes your stuff. Plus, I
- 46:49Speaker 1: want to be good for all the comedians that have
- 46:51Speaker 1: supported me and believed in me? How do I gain
- 46:53Speaker 1: more confidence in the next two weeks, or at least
- 46:56Speaker 1: learn how to fake it? Lucky and Lucky's twenty three
- 46:59Speaker 1: and Lucky here with us as well. Hi Lucky, Hello, Hi,
- 47:05Speaker 1: this is Michael, our special guest today. Are you doing, Lucky?
- 47:08Speaker 1: I'm I'm the special guest. Actually head into my contract
- 47:12Speaker 1: Chelsea to refer to me as a very special guest.
- 47:14Speaker 1: I ripped up you. I ripped up your contract before
- 47:17Speaker 1: the podcast. All right, anyway, Lucky, I'm supposed to be
- 47:20Speaker 1: referred to as the very special guest. But that's all right,
- 47:25Speaker 1: sounds good. I'm just ship right now, Lucky. So you
- 47:31Speaker 1: want to build your confidence in two weeks? Yeah, what's
- 47:35Speaker 1: the two weeks? Is that a showcase or something? Yeah,
- 47:38Speaker 1: it's I'm opening for another comedian who is coming into
- 47:42Speaker 1: the only really comedy place we have in Montana. So well,
- 47:48Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of exercises you can do,
- 47:50Speaker 1: Like if you just do ship that scares you for
- 47:52Speaker 1: the next two weeks, or you go and just start
- 47:53Speaker 1: doing stand up in front of stores or where people
- 47:56Speaker 1: aren't gathered to do stand up that was That's gonna
- 47:59Speaker 1: be a way to build your offidence, extreme situations that
- 48:02Speaker 1: you're not comfortable in and putting yourself out there, like
- 48:05Speaker 1: standing outside of a grocery store asking people if they
- 48:08Speaker 1: want to hear your material. That would probably build a
- 48:10Speaker 1: lot of confidence because there's gonna be a lot of rejection,
- 48:13Speaker 1: and that's also confidence building. It doesn't seem like it
- 48:16Speaker 1: works that way, but over time and over like hits
- 48:19Speaker 1: and misses, you do that is how you build confidence.
- 48:22Speaker 1: The only way you're gonna build confidence is with more
- 48:24Speaker 1: stage time. So I would create that stage time in
- 48:27Speaker 1: places where no one's expecting to see comedy, so you
- 48:29Speaker 1: can have the worst possible scenarios and that way, when
- 48:33Speaker 1: you're in a comedy club it won't even compare to that.
- 48:36Speaker 1: That definitely makes a lot of sense. I agree. I
- 48:39Speaker 1: think that's a really good advice. I always think it's
- 48:42Speaker 1: good advice to to take a deep breath, but I
- 48:45Speaker 1: think based on where you are and the limited amount
- 48:47Speaker 1: of stage time you're gonna be able to get, I
- 48:49Speaker 1: think that's really good advice that Chelsea game. Even though
- 48:51Speaker 1: I'm the very special guests and I thought I was
- 48:54Speaker 1: gonna be the person given great advice, I don't think
- 48:56Speaker 1: I could top that, but just relax. I think the
- 48:59Speaker 1: most important thing is just relax and to trust yourself
- 49:02Speaker 1: and to trust your instincts. And I know that sounds generic,
- 49:05Speaker 1: but that I mean, at the end of the day,
- 49:06Speaker 1: that's all you could do and know your material and
- 49:09Speaker 1: and and you know hopefully you'll love Just take a
- 49:12Speaker 1: big deep breath before you get up there and have fun.
- 49:15Speaker 1: It's comedy. You if you're not having fun, the crowd
- 49:18Speaker 1: can have fun. Yeah, those things are generic, but they're true.
- 49:21Speaker 1: The reason why that people say them so frequently is
- 49:24Speaker 1: because all of those things are true. You want to
- 49:26Speaker 1: be able to be present on stage and be like
- 49:29Speaker 1: in the moment and actually enjoying yourself, right. You want
- 49:32Speaker 1: to remember each moment and be like secure in that.
- 49:34Speaker 1: And the more you remind yourself, I always feel like
- 49:37Speaker 1: when you're present and not distracted, like nothing can go
- 49:41Speaker 1: wrong because you're really in the moment and you're reacting
- 49:44Speaker 1: in real time. And yeah, you have your jokes and
- 49:46Speaker 1: your material set up, but you've got that. That's what
- 49:48Speaker 1: you've got. The other things that you can't control are
- 49:51Speaker 1: the things that you can just be present for and
- 49:53Speaker 1: be aware of. And I feel like nothing can go
- 49:55Speaker 1: wrong when you're really focused and honed in on something
- 49:58Speaker 1: you know. And I would definitely do even go over
- 50:00Speaker 1: to your friend's houses, go to your family's houses and
- 50:03Speaker 1: fucking make them listen to you, do stand up. Just
- 50:05Speaker 1: keep putting yourself in really awkward situations and I think
- 50:08Speaker 1: it'll lend itself to giving you more confidence. Yeah, no, definitely.
- 50:11Speaker 1: I will probably refrained from my parents because they might
- 50:14Speaker 1: not like the jokes I have most of the things
- 50:16Speaker 1: about them, But who cares. That's even more, that's even better.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Let them be squirm and that way. You know, that's
- 50:22Speaker 1: going to be awkward. Getting through awkward moments with confidence,
- 50:25Speaker 1: you know that's what you want to do, and so
- 50:27Speaker 1: that's okay. Yeah, I will say this is a very
- 50:30Speaker 1: awkward moment for me, so I'm it's good exercise. Yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 1: And by the way, not every comedian has to be
- 50:36Speaker 1: the most confident. There's a lot of weird comics out
- 50:39Speaker 1: there that have like a weird energy about them where
- 50:42Speaker 1: they don't exude confidence. Michael, you would agree with me,
- 50:44Speaker 1: wouldn't you. You don't have to exude confidence. But do
- 50:48Speaker 1: you think, Chelsea that some comedians it's almost like a
- 50:51Speaker 1: character that they're doing that because I always think like
- 50:54Speaker 1: those kinds of comedians, whether it's the one that pops
- 50:57Speaker 1: into my head I was thinking about recently and I
- 51:00Speaker 1: used to see him all the time, Emo Phillips. You're like,
- 51:03Speaker 1: this fucking guy seems like he's in pain walking down
- 51:05Speaker 1: the street, but yet to have the balls to go
- 51:08Speaker 1: on stage, there has to be a certain amount of confidence.
- 51:11Speaker 1: I don't know that's the person that came in my head,
- 51:13Speaker 1: but there's a lot of people that play that sort
- 51:15Speaker 1: of role. But to me, it's sort of like it's
- 51:17Speaker 1: a character. Do you think so, Chelsea, you're knowl Yeah,
- 51:19Speaker 1: I agree. I think that a lot of people are
- 51:21Speaker 1: playing up this kind of persona or character, if you will.
- 51:24Speaker 1: But I do think there's a lot of people like
- 51:26Speaker 1: there's a difference between stage presence and confidence. Also, I
- 51:30Speaker 1: think what you really want is stage presence, right, because
- 51:33Speaker 1: it might be part of your comedy that you're not
- 51:36Speaker 1: that confident, you know, So I think that's more important
- 51:39Speaker 1: to think about about, like commanding a stage and being
- 51:42Speaker 1: out there and making sure that nobody's going to trample
- 51:45Speaker 1: on you or nobody's gonna try and heckle you, like
- 51:47Speaker 1: that's more of a stage presence where you're commanding the
- 51:50Speaker 1: audience's attention, and I think that would probably be a
- 51:53Speaker 1: better focus than trying to instill the confidence because that
- 51:57Speaker 1: just comes with time and with time spent on stage age.
- 52:00Speaker 1: I mean, I stand by doing those exercises still, but
- 52:04Speaker 1: you know, just kind of a delineation of the two words. Luck.
- 52:07Speaker 1: You're getting world class advice from Chelsea here. That's a
- 52:10Speaker 1: good ship you're getting here. Yeah. No, this is a
- 52:13Speaker 1: very surreal moment for me, considering I used to watch
- 52:15Speaker 1: Chelsea Um as a kid and why I'm doing this now.
- 52:19Speaker 1: So this is a good good Make sure you have fun, Lucky.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Don't put too much pressure on yourself. You're not jumping
- 52:27Speaker 1: off a cliff. You ain't taking the s a t.
- 52:31Speaker 1: You know, there's far more things that the ramifications are
- 52:34Speaker 1: going to be worse. You've made people laugh before they're
- 52:37Speaker 1: gonna laugh again. Just have a good time. Thank you.
- 52:40Speaker 1: I appreciate it so much, and you guys taking the
- 52:43Speaker 1: time to tell me all this. Absolutely, honey, we're on
- 52:46Speaker 1: your team. We're on team Lucky. Yes, and what a
- 52:50Speaker 1: fantastic name. Also, thank you, I Joseph myself, I love
- 52:54Speaker 1: that good for you, Good for you. All right, Lucky, Well,
- 52:58Speaker 1: let us know how it goes, and you're gonna do great.
- 53:02Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Okay, take care and try and
- 53:05Speaker 1: get out of Wyoming as soon as you can. Okay,
- 53:09Speaker 1: it is the same thing actually, By lucky God. I
- 53:15Speaker 1: can't believe people even have stand up comedy clubs there.
- 53:17Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever performed in Montana. I mean
- 53:20Speaker 1: it's just open spaces. Really. I think you just got
- 53:22Speaker 1: into a field and started telling jokes to the wheat
- 53:25Speaker 1: or what's in Montana? Yeah, there's a ski resort in Montana.
- 53:29Speaker 1: That's all I know about Montana. We drove across Montana
- 53:33Speaker 1: actually last year and it was the weirdest thing. It
- 53:35Speaker 1: was super flat and they were just these like you
- 53:37Speaker 1: could see storms in the distance, but you just see
- 53:39Speaker 1: a column of rain coming from a cloud. It wasn't
- 53:42Speaker 1: like the whole you know, distance was filled with rain.
- 53:46Speaker 1: And we wound up driving through one It was just
- 53:48Speaker 1: a downpour and we out the other side and like
- 53:50Speaker 1: five minutes it was the most bonkers weather I've ever seen.
- 53:53Speaker 1: It sounds like one of those rain do you know
- 53:54Speaker 1: how you see those on social media now, those like twisters,
- 53:56Speaker 1: but they have them over water where they pull up
- 53:59Speaker 1: the water. I'm like, what the fund is that. I
- 54:02Speaker 1: don't want to be have a fucking boat and run
- 54:03Speaker 1: into one of those though. No, thank you. Well, let's
- 54:07Speaker 1: take a quick break and we'll be right back to
- 54:09Speaker 1: finish up with Michael and Chelsea. And we're back. Well,
- 54:17Speaker 1: this is the part of the show, Michael where we
- 54:19Speaker 1: would like to know if you would like any advice
- 54:21Speaker 1: from Chelsea. What advice could I ask from Chelsea handler
- 54:27Speaker 1: parenting advice? Well, my kids are twenty and twenty two,
- 54:32Speaker 1: so they're boys. The fuck you got kids, Chelsea? No,
- 54:37Speaker 1: you're gonna have kids. I'm seven. I can't have kids anymore.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I hope you might. You never know. I'm not sucking
- 54:45Speaker 1: pulling any ship like that. I don't like that. I
- 54:46Speaker 1: don't like having babies at fifty. I'm not down for that.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Do you want any kids? No? I did if I had.
- 54:52Speaker 1: If I wanted kids, I would have had them. I
- 54:54Speaker 1: don't have time for that. I'm too selfish. I like
- 54:56Speaker 1: my life. I'm not interested in raising anybody or being responsible,
- 55:00Speaker 1: you know, having to provide them with all the information
- 55:02Speaker 1: that comes along with having to parent. First of all,
- 55:05Speaker 1: they ask too many questions. That's annoying, you know, I mean,
- 55:08Speaker 1: I can't even handle all the questions. And then I
- 55:12Speaker 1: don't think insessantness is a word, but maybe it is.
- 55:14Speaker 1: I'll look it up. I'm sure it'll be a word
- 55:16Speaker 1: by the end of the week. Here's a question I
- 55:19Speaker 1: have for you, Chelsea. You're a ship talker. I I
- 55:23Speaker 1: consider myself a ship talker. I say that with all
- 55:25Speaker 1: due respect. How do you maintain your ship talking superpowers
- 55:32Speaker 1: in this delicate cancel culture, day and age without compromising
- 55:38Speaker 1: your ship talking superpowers and your gut instinct to talk ship?
- 55:43Speaker 1: Do you know what I'm saying? Well, I think the
- 55:45Speaker 1: rules are very simple. We're we're not supposed to be
- 55:48Speaker 1: racist and we're not supposed to be sexist. That's it.
- 55:51Speaker 1: As long as you're not discriminating against a certain group
- 55:54Speaker 1: of people within your ship talking as you say, then
- 55:58Speaker 1: there is no problem. I don't feel like that's such
- 56:01Speaker 1: a tall order. I feel like if I don't have
- 56:03Speaker 1: to be racist or sexist, that okay. Great. I like parameters.
- 56:06Speaker 1: It makes you more clever, and you know, when you're
- 56:09Speaker 1: picking fights with people, make sure you're picking them with
- 56:11Speaker 1: the people that you disagree with on a value level,
- 56:14Speaker 1: you know, if you're talking of I mean we're talking
- 56:16Speaker 1: about like Republicans and Trump and and Kanye, like those
- 56:19Speaker 1: are pretty big targets and and and rightfully so, you know,
- 56:24Speaker 1: and deserving of it. So I just think about it
- 56:27Speaker 1: in terms like that. It doesn't limit my personality or
- 56:30Speaker 1: make me you know, I mean, we can all be
- 56:32Speaker 1: kinder and gentler, but it's not going to take away
- 56:34Speaker 1: my pizzaz or whatever the funk it is, you know,
- 56:36Speaker 1: my ability to call somebody out when they're acting like
- 56:39Speaker 1: an idiot, a or an asshole. And there are also
- 56:43Speaker 1: a varying degrees of ways to say those things, you know,
- 56:47Speaker 1: right right there, there definitely are varying ways to say things.
- 56:51Speaker 1: You know, I choose my persona. It doesn't allow me.
- 56:55Speaker 1: I'm not gonna play Kate and be delicate with these
- 56:57Speaker 1: with these people, you know, especially when it's coming at
- 57:01Speaker 1: the Jews. Because also I have such a um. I
- 57:04Speaker 1: don't like the stereotypes, particularly in show business of Jewish men.
- 57:10Speaker 1: You know, I do not like them. They're they're perpetuated.
- 57:13Speaker 1: That's part of who I am, It's part of who
- 57:14Speaker 1: my family is. But I feel like that's all we
- 57:17Speaker 1: get to see for the most part with Jewish men,
- 57:20Speaker 1: and I don't like that. I don't like that. Well,
- 57:22Speaker 1: I mean, I think those are two separate issues, you know.
- 57:25Speaker 1: I mean, I think does yeah. I just think listen,
- 57:28Speaker 1: nobody wants to be discriminated against, and nobody wants to be,
- 57:31Speaker 1: you know, be told. That's just like human decency, like
- 57:34Speaker 1: we should evolve, right, we should understand that that's not
- 57:37Speaker 1: a pleasant feeling. And I think that, you know, real
- 57:39Speaker 1: comedy comes from self deprecation, like when you're starting out
- 57:43Speaker 1: with yourself, then you can have more leeway to go
- 57:45Speaker 1: after other people, because you have to be an egalitarian
- 57:48Speaker 1: about it, right, and we just can't just hand pick
- 57:52Speaker 1: certain groups, or I mean the Jewish thing, the conversation,
- 57:55Speaker 1: I mean, we're talking about a couple of different things here,
- 57:57Speaker 1: but people not standing up for Jewish people. I think
- 57:59Speaker 1: you kind of touched upon which I think a lot
- 58:02Speaker 1: of people assume that Jewish people can take care of themselves,
- 58:05Speaker 1: which is not helpful and it's a falsehood. It's like,
- 58:08Speaker 1: if you're gonna stand up for BLM. I also read
- 58:10Speaker 1: this woman's post yesterday who was saying she was so
- 58:12Speaker 1: pissed that all these white people were going up talking
- 58:15Speaker 1: about standing up for Jews, yet where were they for BLM?
- 58:17Speaker 1: And I'm like, well, wait a second, I was. We
- 58:19Speaker 1: were all right there. What are you talking about? I mean,
- 58:21Speaker 1: not all of us, but I know I was. I
- 58:23Speaker 1: know you were. I know you were. So it's an
- 58:25Speaker 1: unfortunate conversation to constantly have. But I don't think we're
- 58:30Speaker 1: going to move past it until we just get it right.
- 58:32Speaker 1: We keep rehashing it and rehashing it, and then then
- 58:35Speaker 1: there's all this resistance to it, and it's like, cool,
- 58:38Speaker 1: well this is limiting my behavior, like your personality or
- 58:41Speaker 1: your persona, which I would argue is your personality. It's
- 58:43Speaker 1: not a persona, that's who you are. You're not a
- 58:47Speaker 1: discriminatory guy. So I don't think that you have that
- 58:50Speaker 1: much to worry about, you know what I mean, You're
- 58:51Speaker 1: not coming from some nasty place. You're not on bright
- 58:54Speaker 1: Bard if that's still up and running hopefully not. You know,
- 58:58Speaker 1: I don't I don't look at you like, oh, you're
- 59:00Speaker 1: gonna have to watch what you say. And I don't
- 59:02Speaker 1: think I have to watch what I say because I'm
- 59:04Speaker 1: not a fucking idiot. You know, I know better, Like
- 59:07Speaker 1: when you know better, you do better, as Oprah says.
- 59:10Speaker 1: But it's true. It's like, oh, we're all educated on
- 59:13Speaker 1: it now, you know, Like let's just behave in a
- 59:16Speaker 1: little bit more mindful way, especially with the ship that's
- 59:19Speaker 1: going on. I like to put out good vibes, but
- 59:21Speaker 1: I'm not going to be soft ever. I'm always going
- 59:23Speaker 1: to be a cunt, like that's part of my DNA, Right,
- 59:28Speaker 1: I got you. That's good. I like that. I mean,
- 59:30Speaker 1: this whole episode was all over the shop. I think
- 59:33Speaker 1: you know what I mean. We had calls that we're
- 59:35Speaker 1: making sense, predicaments that aren't making sense, conversations that are circular,
- 59:39Speaker 1: but whatever. I mean, it's a good fucking day at work.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Then isn't it just to be more confused than when
- 59:44Speaker 1: we started? We didn't solve anything today. This is a
- 59:49Speaker 1: hot mess. But I love you, Michael Rappaport. I love you.
- 59:52Speaker 1: You're entertaining. You entertaining. That's my booklyn accent. You're entertaining.
- 59:56Speaker 1: And everybody needs to follow Michael on Instagram. Is it
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: at Michael Rappaport or the Michael map at Michael And
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: also you have a new podcast coming out right, Yeah,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: well it's not new, but yeah, the IMP stereo podcast,

- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Are you having fun? I am? I am? I mean,

- 1:01:06Speaker 1: I'm like, fuck, I don't have time to be writing
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: fucking material. I mean I do, but I'm not writing it.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: So I've got to just really start thinking that's cool. Okay,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I can't wait to hear it. All right, Well, I'll
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: see you soon, Michael. Thanks so much anytime. I appreciate it.
