- 0:00Believe it or not, there were some things that I did not cover
- 0:03in the last episode, which was long as usual.
- 0:08But so I'm going to cover those things that I wasn't able to
- 0:12cover, which I think are really interesting though.
- 0:16And it ties into Daniel Chapter 7.
- 0:19But we're going to talk about Revelation chapter 5, verse 6,
- 0:23because this also I think needs a little bit more explanation
- 0:28here. It says.
- 0:30Then I saw a lamb looking as if it had been slain, standing at
- 0:35the center of the throne, encircled by 4 living creatures
- 0:39and the elders, the land. The lamb had 7 horns and seven
- 0:43eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all
- 0:49the earth. There is that's a very confusing
- 0:53thing for all of us and there's a really good explanation of it.
- 1:00And so I want, I want to read that through gotquestions.org
- 1:08and so you can find this at gotquestions.org.
- 1:13What are the seven spirits of God?
- 1:17So it talks about in Revelation chapter 1, verses 4 through 5
- 1:24John to the seven churches in the province of Asia, Grace and
- 1:29peace to you from him who is and who was and who is to come, and
- 1:34from the seven spirits before his throne and from Jesus
- 1:41Christ. And then in Revelation 3, three
- 1:45verse one, the Angel of the church in Sardis write.
- 1:50These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God.
- 1:56Then in Revelation 4, verse 5, from the throne came flashes of
- 2:01lightning, rumbling, and peals of Thunder.
- 2:03In front of the throne 7 lamps were blazing.
- 2:07These are the seven spirits of God.
- 2:12And then Revelation 5, verse 6. Then I saw a lamb looking as if
- 2:17it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne,
- 2:21encircled by the four living creatures and the elders.
- 2:24The lamb had 7 horns and seven eyes, which are the seven
- 2:29spirits of God sent out into all the earth.
- 2:35The identity of the seven spirits is not explicit in these
- 2:38passages, but arriving at the proper interpretation is fairly
- 2:43straightforward. The seven spirits cannot be 7
- 2:48angelic beings such as Seraphim or cherubim because of the
- 2:53context of Revelation one verse 4 where it says John to the
- 3:04seven churches that are in Asia, Grace to you and peace from him
- 3:08who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits
- 3:13who are before the throne. John says that grace and peace
- 3:19are coming to the churches from these from three sources, Him
- 3:25who is and who was and who is to come.
- 3:29Verse 4 The seven spirits before the throne Verse 4 and Jesus
- 3:35Christ Verse 5. This is a depiction of the
- 3:39Trinity. Grace and peace are given by the
- 3:42Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the three Co equal
- 3:47persons of the Godhead. In Revelation 4 verse 5, the
- 3:53seven spirits of God are symbolized as 7 burning lamps
- 3:58that are before God's throne. This picture agrees with
- 4:02Zechariah's vision in which he sees the Holy Spirit symbolized
- 4:07as a solid gold lampstand with a bowl at the top and seven lamps
- 4:13on it. In Zechariah 42.
- 4:19In Revelation 5-6, the seven spirits are the seven eyes of
- 4:24the Lamb, and they are quote sent out into the earth.
- 4:29The seven eyes speak of the Spirit and the Lamb's
- 4:34omniscience, and the fact that He is sent into the earth, into
- 4:40all the earth, speaks of His omnipresence.
- 4:44Once we identify 7 spirits as the Holy Spirit, the question
- 4:48remains, why are there 7 of Him? The Bible, especially the Book
- 4:53of Revelation, uses the number 7 to refer to perfection and
- 4:58completion. John's vision includes a picture
- 5:02of the perfect and complete Holy Spirit.
- 5:05Isaiah 11 also references the Holy Spirit using a sevenfold
- 5:11description. The Spirit of the Lord will rest
- 5:14on him, the spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the spirit of
- 5:18counsel and of power, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the
- 5:22Lord. The prophecy is that the Messiah
- 5:26would be empowered not by 7 individual spirits, but by the
- 5:31one Spirit described seven ways, and that's the seven, or the
- 5:37Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of wisdom, the spirit of
- 5:41understanding, the spirit of counsel, the spirit of power,
- 5:45the spirit of knowledge, the spirit of the fear of the Lord.
- 5:50The quote 7 spirits of God in the Book of Revelation are thus
- 5:56a reference to the Holy Spirit in the perfection of His
- 6:00manifold ministry. So I thought that was really
- 6:03good because that's a question that I'm sure lots of people
- 6:06have. But then I also when I was
- 6:09thinking about this, I was and the prior chapter that I talked
- 6:14about Daniel Chapter 7 and and the spiritual world that we just
- 6:18don't know everything about. I do think there are other
- 6:25spirits that are in front of God that do his will.
- 6:31I mean they, they must, they have to submit to the authority
- 6:34of God, although they are not necessarily good spirits, but
- 6:40they are under the control of God.
- 6:42And he does use these spirits to get people to repent is what I
- 6:49believe to get people to turn back to Him.
- 6:53And when he needs to, he chooses to.
- 6:56And he doesn't force these spirits to do this because I
- 7:00think these spirits want to do that.
- 7:02Like they have chosen evil, but God can use them for his
- 7:07purposes. And I'll show you some examples
- 7:10of that. So one of the scriptures is in,
- 7:13it's actually in First Kings chapter 22 and we started verse
- 7:1919. Makaya continued.
- 7:25Therefore hear the word of the Lord.
- 7:27I saw the Lord sitting on his throne with all the multitudes
- 7:33of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left.
- 7:38And the Lord said, Who will entice Ahab into attacking
- 7:45Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?
- 7:49One suggested this and another that.
- 7:53Finally a spirit came forward, stood before the Lord, and said,
- 8:00I will entice him. By what means?
- 8:04The Lord asked, I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the
- 8:10mouths of all his prophets. He said, You will succeed in
- 8:16enticing him, said the Lord, Go and do it.
- 8:21So now the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths
- 8:24of all the prophet of yours. The Lord has decreed disaster
- 8:28for you. So we see here that a spirit is
- 8:32a deceiving spirit, and I don't think that is necessarily a good
- 8:39thing. And but God uses the free will
- 8:43of beings. This is the the way I understand
- 8:46it. Ahab was the king of Israel, and
- 8:48he was not a good king. And his wife was Jezebel, who is
- 8:54not a good queen either. And they had all of these false
- 8:57prophets and they were misleading the people of Israel
- 9:02into idolatry, sexual immorality and all sorts of things.
- 9:07And they were doing lots of evil.
- 9:09And so God was they, they had, you know, an opportunity.
- 9:13In fact, the Book of Revelation says that Jezebel could have
- 9:17been saved, but she would not repent.
- 9:21And so God will send to accomplish his purpose.
- 9:25He will use sometimes evil spirits, evil beings, you know,
- 9:33people with harmful intent. He will use them to accomplish
- 9:38his purpose. And his purpose is actually
- 9:40something that is good. It's actually to get the
- 9:43attention of people who are pushing him away, who are
- 9:46ignoring him and so that they will hopefully turn to God.
- 9:50There's another verse that where God does this, and it's with
- 9:55Saul. So Saul was Israel's first king
- 9:59and God warned them. You know, you're not going to
- 10:02really like the results of this, but I will let you have a king
- 10:05because that's what you're asking for.
- 10:06You can, you know, free will you get Saul.
- 10:09But here's what's going to happen.
- 10:11He warned them, but they wanted the king, so they got the king.
- 10:14And then Saul was disobedient to God.
- 10:16He would do some of what God said, but then he wouldn't do it
- 10:19all, and he'd use his own judgment rather than relying on
- 10:23God. And Samuel was constantly
- 10:27telling Saul, you know, reminding him of what he should
- 10:31be doing versus what he was doing on his own.
- 10:34And so finally God had enough of Saul.
- 10:37He was disobedient enough. And that's when God decided he
- 10:41was going to replace Saul with David.
- 10:44And it was a very long drawn up process, but during the time
- 10:49that this transition was happening from Saul to David,
- 10:54because of Saul's rebellion, God took his spirit from Saul.
- 11:00So that is like to me, I understand that as a an
- 11:04anointing of the Holy Spirit, like he had anointed.
- 11:09This is why when sometimes people say once saved, always
- 11:11saved, I'm like, well, wait a second, how does this work here?
- 11:16Because Saul's rebellion, like God sent the Holy Spirit to him,
- 11:22but then he rebelled and wouldn't be obedient to God.
- 11:26And then God took the Holy Spirit, the we, you know, that's
- 11:30like grieving, I guess the Holy Spirit where at a certain point,
- 11:38I don't know, that's the way I understand this.
- 11:40I mean, somebody else might want to explain this to me if I'm
- 11:42getting this wrong. But in first Samuel chapter 16
- 11:46verse 14, it says now the Spirit of the Lord had departed from
- 11:53Saul and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him.
- 12:00Saul's attendant said to him, see an evil spirit from God is
- 12:05tormenting you. And so then David would come in
- 12:07and play music and then he would be relieved from that tormenting
- 12:13spirit when that would happen. But the the point is about the
- 12:18Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and Saul was God's
- 12:23anointed. 1 He was anointed through Samuel.
- 12:25He was chosen by the people but anointed by God and he had the
- 12:30Holy Spirit because he would have had to have had the Holy
- 12:33Spirit for the Spirit to depart from him.
- 12:36And it also Jesus warns us about or he he told about when someone
- 12:44I guess it's talks about like cleans the house spiritually and
- 12:50I want to find what it's. I'm looking for something
- 12:59because I wasn't OK It's in. I guess Matthew and Luke talk
- 13:10about it. So this is this is like a word
- 13:13of warning to people, like another reason why we need the
- 13:16Holy Spirit and we need to stay in the word.
- 13:19We need to stay connected. When I say in the word, we need
- 13:22to be reading the Bible so that we our mind is renewed by what
- 13:27the Bible says. And you know, it could be a few
- 13:30minutes every day, but every day is good and to pray to God too.
- 13:33I mean, it's so important as the days get closer to the return of
- 13:38Jesus, quite honestly. And so in Matthew chapter 12,
- 13:43verse 45, it talks about an impure spirit coming out of a
- 13:50person. So it says this is Jesus
- 13:53talking. When an impure spirit comes out
- 13:56of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and
- 14:01does not find it. Then it says, I will return to
- 14:04the house I left. When it arrives, it finds the
- 14:08house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order.
- 14:13Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked
- 14:18than itself, and they go in and live there.
- 14:21And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.
- 14:27This that is how it will be with this wicked generation.
- 14:32So I think that's a big word of warning about receiving the Holy
- 14:35Spirit. You know, people who are
- 14:38rebellious to God and they don't have the Holy Spirit are open to
- 14:44an impure spirit taking over them.
- 14:47That's why I mean, when you look at people in a, in addictions
- 14:51and things like that, I believe that the, you know, that that's
- 14:56kind of like the foothold of spiritual.
- 15:00I mean, the devil seeks to destroy us.
- 15:05So if he can lure us in with something that's tempting,
- 15:09something that sounds good, you know, an addiction most often
- 15:13starts with something simple and, and kind of harmless, but
- 15:17then as it intensifies, it becomes harmful to a person.
- 15:22Will they, if they don't break the addiction, it will
- 15:25eventually destroy them either physically or spiritually or
- 15:29both. And this is a warning that Jesus
- 15:33said was you can get rid of that Spirit and but if you do, you
- 15:41must have the Holy Spirit with you.
- 15:46So you have to repent of those things.
- 15:48You have to turn to God. You have to we receive the Holy
- 15:52Spirit from Jesus. He has the Holy Spirit from the
- 15:56Father and he gives it to us. If our hearts are right with
- 16:00Jesus, with God, if we have recognized that we have a sinful
- 16:05way of life and we don't want to live it anymore, but we need
- 16:07help, God will help us and we are helped by the Holy Spirit.
- 16:14The the Holy Spirit helps us overcome it.
- 16:17As I said before, the flesh is weak, but the Spirit is strong.
- 16:20That's another thing that Jesus said about avoiding temptation,
- 16:25so we can receive help from the Holy Spirit to do that.
- 16:29But I think this is really important to understand these
- 16:35spiritual things. And again, the, the whole book
- 16:38of Job is almost, you know, that's almost like 1/3
- 16:42representation of what happens in the spiritual realm as well.
- 16:49And I it, it talks about, you know, Job being a righteous
- 16:53person and that the angels present themselves before the
- 16:58Lord. Now this is Job chapter one,
- 17:01verse six. One day the angels came to
- 17:05present themselves before the Lord and Satan also came with
- 17:10them. The Lord said to Satan, where
- 17:14have you come from? Satan answered the Lord from
- 17:17roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth.
- 17:22Then the Lord said to Satan, Have you considered my servant
- 17:25Job? There is no one on earth like
- 17:28him. He is blameless and upright, a
- 17:30man who fears God and shuns evil.
- 17:33And Satan replies, Does Job fear God for nothing?
- 17:37Satan replied, Have you not put a hedge around him and his
- 17:41household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his
- 17:45hands so that his flocks and his herds are spread throughout the
- 17:48land. But now stretch out your hand
- 17:50and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to
- 17:53your face. The Lord said, Very well, then
- 17:57everything he has is in your power, but the man himself do
- 18:02not lay a finger. Then Satan went out from the
- 18:05presence of the Lord. So it the story goes on and and
- 18:10God allows Satan to do these things to Job and I, I mean,
- 18:15this is kind of one of the hardest books to like understand
- 18:19like why did God allow that? But he allowed Job.
- 18:23Apparently Job had always been close to God and had served him,
- 18:28but he was never tested. And that's what Satan is, the
- 18:32accuser. And he it says that he roams and
- 18:38he's looking for his next victim.
- 18:41So if you haven't been tested in life, then you have to be
- 18:46careful about this because God could test you.
- 18:49But when you have the Holy Spirit, it says submit to the
- 18:52Lord that's receiving the Holy Spirit, submit to him as your
- 18:55Lord and resist the devil and he will flee.
- 19:00So when you have the knowledge of the Holy Spirit, the you know
- 19:03the relationship with God and have the Holy Spirit and have
- 19:06the knowledge of Scripture that you just need to submit to the
- 19:10Lord and resist the devil and he will flee.
- 19:15It's not like you have to do this really bad battle with him,
- 19:18but somebody who doesn't have the Holy Spirit and gets lured
- 19:23into sinful things and doesn't do anything about it, they're
- 19:29just going to get deeper and deeper and deeper into sinful
- 19:33ways. Addictions are breaking whatever
- 19:36commandment it is that God has. It's just going to get, you
- 19:40know, deeper and deeper to where somebody destroys themself.
- 19:45But that's something that happens and can happen to a
- 19:51person who doesn't have the Holy Spirit.
- 19:55So I think it's important that we understand the the role of
- 20:00the Holy Spirit. And perhaps Job didn't have the
- 20:03Holy Spirit. He was just a righteous man
- 20:05because there are people who are.
- 20:08Just righteous, they choose that way, but they don't have the
- 20:11Holy Spirit yet. But this again is another
- 20:14important reason why we need the Holy Spirit.
- 20:17And it ties into the prior chapter.
- 20:19But these were some parts that I wanted to cover.
- 20:22And because it got so long, I didn't cover.
- 20:25So this is kind of an extra added on to the prior podcast.
- 20:30So hopefully this was beneficial to you.
