- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello, you guys. Welcome back to another episode of the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Hawkgirl Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kaylee, and this is
- 0:19Speaker 1: your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
- 0:22Speaker 1: a new mindset, and another day for you to become
- 0:25Speaker 1: the Hawkgirl Energy you want to attract. I have been
- 0:29Speaker 1: off the podcast now for almost a month, and I
- 0:32Speaker 1: don't think I've ever taken this long of a break before.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I think the last time I took this long of
- 0:36Speaker 1: a break was, I think, my wedding, which would have
- 0:39Speaker 1: been two years ago when I was getting married in
- 0:42Speaker 1: Italy and And I think a lot of you guys
- 0:45Speaker 1: know what this episode's about. And I feel like this
- 0:48Speaker 1: was probably the hardest secret to ever keep from you guys.
- 0:53Speaker 1: The amount of times I just wanted to slip and
- 0:55Speaker 1: tell you guys what was going on these past three months.
- 0:58Speaker 1: It was really hard, but I am pregnant. Hence the title,
- 1:02Speaker 1: which is Hot Girl Mom, Hot Girl Pregnancy. Like, I
- 1:07Speaker 1: cannot believe I'm pregnant. It is truly such... a blessing
- 1:12Speaker 1: to be in this phase in my life. And I
- 1:15Speaker 1: think if you followed me for a really long time,
- 1:17Speaker 1: this is something that I was very scared of. I
- 1:21Speaker 1: have always had really bad health anxiety. And one thing
- 1:25Speaker 1: that I was always terrified of was pregnancy. And it
- 1:29Speaker 1: wasn't even about like becoming a mom and just like
- 1:32Speaker 1: entering a whole different phase in my life in that
- 1:35Speaker 1: type of stage, which obviously that is obviously something to
- 1:37Speaker 1: be scared about too, because your life obviously changes and
- 1:40Speaker 1: you put you know, so much energy towards someone else
- 1:43Speaker 1: versus yourself, which is still a very huge commitment and
- 1:47Speaker 1: all that. But I felt like the past two years,
- 1:50Speaker 1: ever since my wedding, there's obviously been a lot of
- 1:53Speaker 1: conversation from parents, family, friends, all that. They're like, oh,
- 1:57Speaker 1: when's the baby coming? Like all that. And there was
- 2:00Speaker 1: so much stress and anxiety around that for me. And
- 2:03Speaker 1: I'm so happy that I took these past two years
- 2:06Speaker 1: to really just like find the time when I felt
- 2:09Speaker 1: ready to be at this phase in my life. And
- 2:12Speaker 1: here we are now. I'm pregnant. I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And yeah, I feel like that's just like a weight
- 2:20Speaker 1: lifted off my shoulders that I've been wanting to tell
- 2:23Speaker 1: you guys for so long. I think a lot of
- 2:25Speaker 1: you guys can assume that I also took a break
- 2:26Speaker 1: because we also moved into a new house. So obviously
- 2:30Speaker 1: like getting my podcast set up just kind of took
- 2:33Speaker 1: a while because it was in a storage unit for
- 2:35Speaker 1: the past two weeks. And then last week I finally
- 2:38Speaker 1: had the opportunity to get my mic, except I had
- 2:41Speaker 1: to like purchase a new setup. So if the mic
- 2:44Speaker 1: actually sounds better, which I think it does, because I
- 2:47Speaker 1: finally had like the official setup to like make this
- 2:49Speaker 1: microphone work for the longest time I was having microphone
- 2:51Speaker 1: issues and I figured out how to connect it with
- 2:54Speaker 1: my computer now properly. So anyways, I'm very happy that
- 2:58Speaker 1: we have a microphone working now. So hopefully there's going
- 3:00Speaker 1: to be no sound issues moving forward because I know
- 3:02Speaker 1: I've had a few sound issues for a few people,
- 3:05Speaker 1: but Anyways, I really wanted to dedicate this episode just
- 3:08Speaker 1: kind of about pregnancy, pregnancy prep, what has been going
- 3:12Speaker 1: on these past few months. It's kind of more of
- 3:14Speaker 1: like a life update, but also kind of sharing my
- 3:17Speaker 1: journey of how pregnancy has been so far, things I
- 3:20Speaker 1: did in my prep to kind of prepare myself for pregnancy, TTC,
- 3:26Speaker 1: all that. I've had so many people comment on my
- 3:28Speaker 1: social media that they wanted an episode dedicated to pregnancy
- 3:32Speaker 1: and just kind of like what's been going on these
- 3:35Speaker 1: past few months. So I figured this is the perfect
- 3:37Speaker 1: episode to do that since I haven't been on the
- 3:39Speaker 1: podcast for a month for obvious reasons. So I felt
- 3:42Speaker 1: like it was time to share everything that's been going
- 3:46Speaker 1: on and just kind of share my overall journey so
- 3:48Speaker 1: far of how things have been going throughout my pregnancy
- 3:52Speaker 1: and again, what these past three months have looked like. Okay,
- 3:55Speaker 1: let's just start off with the first three months of
- 3:58Speaker 1: my pregnancy. Obviously that was the first trimester. And let's
- 4:01Speaker 1: just say that the first trimester is truly a eye-opening experience, okay?
- 4:07Speaker 1: You have no idea what you're about to get into.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And I think even like when I found out I
- 4:12Speaker 1: was pregnant, I was like, okay, so am I going
- 4:15Speaker 1: to get beyond sick like everyone I know? Or am
- 4:19Speaker 1: I going to be that one odd person that doesn't
- 4:21Speaker 1: get any symptoms but has a healthy pregnancy and doesn't
- 4:24Speaker 1: have to worry about the vomiting or nausea or whatever
- 4:28Speaker 1: the case may be, right? Like, I've had so many
- 4:30Speaker 1: friends who are currently going through the same journey as me.
- 4:32Speaker 1: And I've had a few friends who literally have gotten
- 4:35Speaker 1: so sick to the point where they need medication. And
- 4:38Speaker 1: I've also had other friends who have had no symptoms
- 4:42Speaker 1: at all except like tiredness and, you know, food aversions.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And that's really it. So pregnancy could look very different
- 4:50Speaker 1: for everyone. With my first trimester, I did get very,
- 4:55Speaker 1: very sick. super, super nauseous. The first two weeks, so
- 5:00Speaker 1: when I found out at week four and week five,
- 5:02Speaker 1: I was kind of a little nauseous when I woke up.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I would eat crackers, have a bit of water, and
- 5:08Speaker 1: then I felt fine. So I was like, okay, obviously
- 5:10Speaker 1: I might be good. I might be in the clear.
- 5:12Speaker 1: But some people say your symptoms don't really kick in
- 5:15Speaker 1: until week six to week eight is when it really
- 5:18Speaker 1: starts to hit you hard. Week six comes around, I
- 5:21Speaker 1: get hit by the nausea bus. Let me tell you,
- 5:26Speaker 1: I was nauseous all day. It was not just a
- 5:29Speaker 1: morning thing. It was not just like when I was hungry.
- 5:32Speaker 1: It was 24 seven and it was so bad to
- 5:35Speaker 1: the point where I literally could not get out of bed.
- 5:37Speaker 1: It basically felt like I had a severe flu. Thankfully,
- 5:42Speaker 1: I was never in the position where I had to
- 5:43Speaker 1: like feel like I had to like put my head
- 5:45Speaker 1: over the toilet and like vomit all that. Like I
- 5:47Speaker 1: never had a situation like that, but The nausea just
- 5:50Speaker 1: was like so uncomfortable to the point where like getting
- 5:53Speaker 1: up made me like dizzy. And, you know, I didn't
- 5:56Speaker 1: want to eat food because I was so nauseous. Like
- 5:58Speaker 1: nothing was settling in my stomach. Like it just got
- 6:01Speaker 1: so bad to the point where my husband's like, we
- 6:03Speaker 1: need to go to a doctor. We need to figure
- 6:05Speaker 1: out if there's medication that you can take because this
- 6:07Speaker 1: is just so bad. I couldn't even do my job,
- 6:09Speaker 1: which obviously like that's really difficult for me, especially when
- 6:12Speaker 1: I am on social media. I can't just not show
- 6:15Speaker 1: up on social media. That's just like not going to work.
- 6:17Speaker 1: So I did have to get on a medication, which
- 6:20Speaker 1: worked absolute wonders. Oh my goodness. I truly basically felt
- 6:25Speaker 1: like I was back to my old self. Like I
- 6:26Speaker 1: was like, okay, I'm good. I'm pregnant, but I feel good.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Like obviously like there was other symptoms that I had,
- 6:31Speaker 1: like food aversions, you know, cramping in my stomach a
- 6:34Speaker 1: little bit, the odd time just from like the stretching
- 6:36Speaker 1: and like, you know, my stomach just trying to figure
- 6:38Speaker 1: out like what the heck is going on. But other
- 6:40Speaker 1: than that, like I was able to eat no problem.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I was able to work out, which was really great.
- 6:44Speaker 1: And obviously my job was the priority of being able
- 6:47Speaker 1: to work was a huge one. I still have my energy,
- 6:50Speaker 1: which is great. I was never really tired throughout my pregnancy.
- 6:53Speaker 1: So that was like a big thing that everyone was like,
- 6:55Speaker 1: oh my God, you're so lucky. Like, I feel like
- 6:57Speaker 1: everyone like gets really, really tired. I'm like, yeah, no,
- 6:59Speaker 1: I've had great energy, which has been really great. It
- 7:01Speaker 1: was just the nausea that was like really, really bad.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So anyways, everyone has a different experience. Of course, I
- 7:07Speaker 1: kind of had a situation where I had to get
- 7:09Speaker 1: on medication, but it does seem pretty common. I feel
- 7:11Speaker 1: like there is a lot of people like me who've
- 7:13Speaker 1: had that really bad nausea where it like literally takes
- 7:17Speaker 1: you out completely. Anyways, everyone just has a different journey.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And I just wanted to talk about, you know, why
- 7:21Speaker 1: I felt like for my body, it was best for
- 7:23Speaker 1: me and my baby to do that. So that's what
- 7:25Speaker 1: we decided to do. Some of the food versions I
- 7:28Speaker 1: had was, protein, which is so crazy because I've never
- 7:32Speaker 1: had an issue with protein until I got pregnant. Seeing
- 7:36Speaker 1: raw beef or raw chicken literally grossed me out so much.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Zach did most of the cooking for the first two
- 7:43Speaker 1: months of the pregnancy because I literally could not touch
- 7:47Speaker 1: raw chicken. I could not look at it. If it
- 7:49Speaker 1: was cooked and in front of me, I was going
- 7:51Speaker 1: to eat it, but that was just one thing that
- 7:53Speaker 1: I felt like was really, really difficult. The amount of
- 7:55Speaker 1: money I spent on takeout food was insane. I think
- 7:59Speaker 1: I was ordering something either for lunch or dinner, like
- 8:03Speaker 1: every third or fourth day, which is again, beyond unlike me,
- 8:07Speaker 1: because typically I always like cook something at home. I can,
- 8:10Speaker 1: you know, deal with it. No, I had to buy takeout.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I don't know why the cravings were just so crazy.
- 8:17Speaker 1: One day I was craving for breakfast, a cinnamon raisin bagel.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I used to have these as a kid growing up.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I have not had a cinnamon raisin bagel in like
- 8:25Speaker 1: a year's I went to three different Tim Hortons that
- 8:28Speaker 1: day because I was craving it that badly. It was crazy.
- 8:33Speaker 1: None of the Tim Hortons had it for some reason.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I have no idea why. I ended up going to Kettleman's.
- 8:37Speaker 1: They had it and it literally hit the spot. And
- 8:40Speaker 1: I was only craving it for like two days. I
- 8:41Speaker 1: bought a whole package at Kettleman's just so I had
- 8:44Speaker 1: it at the house because I was like craving it
- 8:46Speaker 1: so much. And then by like two to three days
- 8:48Speaker 1: after that, I was like, nope, I don't want it anymore.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And then I never finished the package. I was just like,
- 8:52Speaker 1: this is so weird. Like you go through phases. where
- 8:55Speaker 1: you're like craving something so badly and then like you'll
- 8:58Speaker 1: love it for like two days and then you don't
- 9:01Speaker 1: ever want to eat it again. I also had a
- 9:02Speaker 1: weird craving for sweet potato fries. One night we were
- 9:05Speaker 1: at the Ella Langley concert and this was like when
- 9:07Speaker 1: I was like seven or eight weeks pregnant and it
- 9:10Speaker 1: was like midnight and Zach's like, okay, yeah, we're just
- 9:13Speaker 1: going to go home. We're tired. I'm like, babe, I
- 9:15Speaker 1: need sweet potato fries. Like I need to go to
- 9:17Speaker 1: A & W. I need to get sweet potato fries.
- 9:18Speaker 1: He's like, you're kidding. It's literally midnight. I was like, no,
- 9:21Speaker 1: I need them. I am craving them. So that was
- 9:25Speaker 1: like kind of like the funny part. I feel like
- 9:27Speaker 1: the first few weeks I was like really having these
- 9:29Speaker 1: weird cravings that I just like I needed to have
- 9:32Speaker 1: it immediately or else I wasn't satisfied. So whereas now
- 9:35Speaker 1: I feel like I haven't really had that. I feel
- 9:37Speaker 1: like I'm fully back to normal now. Like I am
- 9:40Speaker 1: still nauseous. I still feel nauseous when I need to eat.
- 9:43Speaker 1: That's basically it, which is great. So like right now
- 9:45Speaker 1: I don't feel nauseous, but like if dinner comes around,
- 9:48Speaker 1: lunch comes around, breakfast or like a snack, my body
- 9:51Speaker 1: will just like get nauseous and I just eat something
- 9:53Speaker 1: and then I feel great. One thing that's really helped
- 9:55Speaker 1: honestly is just like eating like salted crackers or bananas.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I feel like I always have have that in my
- 10:00Speaker 1: purse or on me. That way if I ever do
- 10:03Speaker 1: feel really nauseous, I just resort to that and I
- 10:05Speaker 1: feel so much better. Some people have recommended those pregnancy
- 10:09Speaker 1: pops that are supposed to help with nausea. I tried those.
- 10:12Speaker 1: It didn't really work for me personally. Like my stomach
- 10:15Speaker 1: did not handle that very well. People also said hot
- 10:17Speaker 1: lemon water or lemon water in general. That literally made
- 10:20Speaker 1: it worse for me. It was awful. So not everything's
- 10:24Speaker 1: going to work. Some things may work for others. But
- 10:27Speaker 1: for me, those things did not work. So again, salted crackers, bananas,
- 10:31Speaker 1: I just keep that on me at all times. And
- 10:34Speaker 1: it works. So that's all that matters. I had so
- 10:38Speaker 1: much health anxiety before I got pregnant. I think I've
- 10:41Speaker 1: made that very clear from my socials and from the podcast.
- 10:44Speaker 1: It's just always been an anxiety of mine. But I
- 10:47Speaker 1: feel like since I've gotten pregnant, there's been this like
- 10:49Speaker 1: release of my anxiety. And someone actually messaged me saying
- 10:54Speaker 1: she had the same thing where she had really bad
- 10:56Speaker 1: health anxiety before she got pregnant. And then when she
- 10:58Speaker 1: got pregnant, it kind of like went away. So I
- 11:01Speaker 1: don't know. I feel like once you're in this journey,
- 11:04Speaker 1: you almost like kind of feel like, okay, you're locked in.
- 11:07Speaker 1: You're in this journey. You're figuring out, okay, this is
- 11:10Speaker 1: how things are going to go. I don't know. It's
- 11:12Speaker 1: just like a really– weird feeling, I guess. I just
- 11:16Speaker 1: can't believe how much my anxiety has gotten so much
- 11:18Speaker 1: better since I've gotten pregnant in the best way possible.
- 11:21Speaker 1: The first, you know, 12 weeks were definitely like a
- 11:24Speaker 1: little bit of anxiety just because I feel like you're
- 11:26Speaker 1: more anxious just to make sure that like the baby's okay.
- 11:29Speaker 1: And obviously like that's always like the risky part of
- 11:31Speaker 1: pregnancy that you don't know, you know, it could be
- 11:33Speaker 1: up in the air of what's going on. So I
- 11:36Speaker 1: definitely was a little anxious during that period of time.
- 11:38Speaker 1: But like, other than that, I feel like I've been
- 11:40Speaker 1: so much more okay and like my body has definitely
- 11:44Speaker 1: been changing I'm definitely gaining a bump I have bigger
- 11:47Speaker 1: boobs there's just like a lot is changing obviously but
- 11:51Speaker 1: the confidence that you feel in pregnancy is actually crazy
- 11:54Speaker 1: like I actually feel really confident in my own skin
- 11:58Speaker 1: right now and I honestly thought it was going to
- 11:59Speaker 1: be the complete opposite I thought I was going to
- 12:01Speaker 1: struggle a lot with my body changing because obviously like
- 12:06Speaker 1: that's hard right like seeing your body change is not
- 12:08Speaker 1: easy but I think I just like again shifted my
- 12:11Speaker 1: mindset of like the fact that our bodies are able
- 12:14Speaker 1: to do this is so amazing to me and I
- 12:15Speaker 1: think like that's what makes me feel so like powerful
- 12:19Speaker 1: and like confident and like I find the journey so beautiful.
- 12:23Speaker 1: So I feel like I've actually really loved the way
- 12:26Speaker 1: that you know pregnancy has been for me and I
- 12:28Speaker 1: feel super good as well about just like how I've
- 12:31Speaker 1: been feeling, like just like the confidence that I feel
- 12:34Speaker 1: with my body changing. Anyways, I do think a lot
- 12:36Speaker 1: of people do challenge with that and that's totally okay.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I think that's totally normal and definitely something that's a
- 12:42Speaker 1: conversation to have with someone if you are going through
- 12:44Speaker 1: a tough time with body changes. But I don't know.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I think I just like shifted my mindset in the
- 12:49Speaker 1: best way possible throughout this journey and seeing it such
- 12:53Speaker 1: as a blessing of, you know, being able to be
- 12:56Speaker 1: able to do this because I know there is some
- 12:57Speaker 1: women out there that unfortunately can't get pregnant. And that's really,
- 13:01Speaker 1: really hard, right? So being able to have, you know,
- 13:05Speaker 1: the body and the health to do this is such
- 13:07Speaker 1: a blessing. And I think shifting your mindset that way
- 13:09Speaker 1: is really, really important. Okay, so now let's talk about
- 13:13Speaker 1: the pregnancy prep because I know a lot of you
- 13:15Speaker 1: guys have seen that I've been prepping almost for an
- 13:18Speaker 1: entire year. It's actually going to be a year, I
- 13:21Speaker 1: think next week is when I started. It was like
- 13:23Speaker 1: end of September of last year. I started to take
- 13:26Speaker 1: my prep really seriously in terms of you know, reading books,
- 13:29Speaker 1: figuring out foods I should be eating, supplements I should
- 13:31Speaker 1: be taking, just like everything that I could do to
- 13:34Speaker 1: kind of prepare my body for this journey. And, you know,
- 13:39Speaker 1: I think one of the main things that I went
- 13:41Speaker 1: into this pregnancy prep wasn't to like start TTC right away.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Like the plan was never to start trying to conceive
- 13:47Speaker 1: at the end of next year. Zach and I had
- 13:49Speaker 1: a plan that we were not going to start trying
- 13:51Speaker 1: until we were closer to our move-in date for our
- 13:54Speaker 1: new house. The last thing I wanted to do was
- 13:56Speaker 1: move into a new house when I was like eight
- 13:58Speaker 1: to nine months pregnant or with a one to two
- 14:01Speaker 1: month old baby. For us, that just didn't make any sense.
- 14:05Speaker 1: For us, we really wanted to kind of be in
- 14:07Speaker 1: the first trimester, second trimester by the time I have
- 14:11Speaker 1: moved into the new house. And that was just a
- 14:13Speaker 1: preference that we both wanted to do. So we purposely
- 14:17Speaker 1: waited until April to try to conceive, which April is
- 14:21Speaker 1: technically 2027 babies. So that's another reason we just kind
- 14:24Speaker 1: of like wanted to wait till 2027 for our baby
- 14:26Speaker 1: to be born. Again, just a preference with the timing
- 14:29Speaker 1: of where things were at with our living situation and
- 14:33Speaker 1: what we thought was like the ideal timing to kind
- 14:35Speaker 1: of prepare ourselves for For a baby, obviously like you
- 14:38Speaker 1: have to pick out a lot of things for the baby,
- 14:41Speaker 1: have a baby shower, have a nursery, all that. So
- 14:44Speaker 1: we just like kind of wanted to like have a
- 14:47Speaker 1: good few months to like prepare ourself for that phase.
- 14:51Speaker 1: So essentially when I started in September, I kind of
- 14:53Speaker 1: knew that we weren't gonna be trying till April. So
- 14:56Speaker 1: basically it was like six to seven months of like
- 14:59Speaker 1: a prep. And again, basically what I was doing, I
- 15:01Speaker 1: was just like reading different books, listening to different podcasts
- 15:04Speaker 1: and just kind of like writing down any feedback or
- 15:07Speaker 1: things that I wanted to do in my health and
- 15:09Speaker 1: wellness journey to kind of prepare myself for pregnancy. And
- 15:12Speaker 1: I will say one of the main things as to
- 15:14Speaker 1: why I did this prep wasn't for like physically being
- 15:18Speaker 1: able to conceive. It was also just to like mentally
- 15:21Speaker 1: prepare myself because as I mentioned, I do have a
- 15:24Speaker 1: lot of health anxiety and I think mentally preparing myself
- 15:29Speaker 1: to become pregnant was was the best decision for me personally,
- 15:32Speaker 1: like educating myself on what I can do, um, that
- 15:36Speaker 1: made me feel really confident with my health and everything
- 15:38Speaker 1: before trying to conceive was again, something that I just
- 15:41Speaker 1: wanted to do for my mental side. So, you know,
- 15:44Speaker 1: I had a lot of doctor's appointments in January to
- 15:46Speaker 1: do a bunch of blood work, a bunch of tests,
- 15:48Speaker 1: just to make sure that everything looked good and that,
- 15:51Speaker 1: you know, I have no issues, which is, you know,
- 15:53Speaker 1: obviously a blessing. Um, doing my dentist appointments, making sure
- 15:56Speaker 1: all my, you know, teeth are good. Everything looks great
- 16:00Speaker 1: health wise. Um, you know, again, just eating healthy, maintaining
- 16:04Speaker 1: a good workout routine. I thought that'd be something that
- 16:07Speaker 1: was beneficial to also take into pregnancy once I eventually
- 16:10Speaker 1: got pregnant and then obviously taking the right supplements. So
- 16:14Speaker 1: I started taking a prenatal in January. I wanted to
- 16:18Speaker 1: take it at least, you know, three to four months
- 16:20Speaker 1: before we started trying that way. My body was like
- 16:23Speaker 1: getting used to the prenatal and getting the supplements and
- 16:27Speaker 1: vitamins that the baby would need when I got pregnant.
- 16:31Speaker 1: And then, of course, Zach, we took his prep really
- 16:34Speaker 1: seriously as well, putting him on certain supplements like CoQ10.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I think he was also taking zinc. And I want
- 16:43Speaker 1: to say another one, but I think just a multivitamin,
- 16:46Speaker 1: to be honest. There was specific supplements. I wish I
- 16:48Speaker 1: knew them right now. I obviously don't have them on
- 16:50Speaker 1: hand with me since our move, but I can always
- 16:53Speaker 1: write it out in the description for anyone that's interested.
- 16:55Speaker 1: But again, these were things just based off of research
- 16:58Speaker 1: of what is recommended for sperm health for men, all that.
- 17:01Speaker 1: So we really like took that all seriously for like
- 17:04Speaker 1: the first three months of 2026. So we were like
- 17:07Speaker 1: taking it very seriously from like January to March. And
- 17:10Speaker 1: then I guess also April because we were trying to
- 17:12Speaker 1: conceive in April. And the first round, I'm going to
- 17:16Speaker 1: be like a little TMI here about, you know, this
- 17:20Speaker 1: TTC journey. But first month, My cycle was all messed up,
- 17:24Speaker 1: so I felt like my stress was kind of kicking
- 17:26Speaker 1: in of like, oh my gosh, we're trying to have
- 17:28Speaker 1: a baby. I'm scared. I'm stressed out. I really didn't
- 17:31Speaker 1: know how to absorb it. So I actually had a
- 17:34Speaker 1: delay in my cycle, which I think kind of impacted
- 17:36Speaker 1: why I didn't get pregnant. So I think that was
- 17:41Speaker 1: like my March cycle was all messed up. Going into April,
- 17:45Speaker 1: we tried to conceive. I ended up getting my period.
- 17:49Speaker 1: But again, it was like kind of late, not really
- 17:50Speaker 1: on time. So I had two late periods. And I
- 17:53Speaker 1: felt like my body was kind of like all messed up. Now,
- 17:56Speaker 1: when April came around, I introduced myself to acupuncture because
- 18:00Speaker 1: I heard acupuncture was really, really good for people who
- 18:03Speaker 1: had chronic stress and also really, really good for fertility
- 18:08Speaker 1: for anyone that was trying to conceive. So at this point,
- 18:10Speaker 1: I have no idea if I have fertility issues. I
- 18:12Speaker 1: have no idea about any of that. I did my
- 18:15Speaker 1: tests to see if there was anything concerning, but unfortunately
- 18:17Speaker 1: my doctor said you know, we can't check for fertility
- 18:21Speaker 1: unless you've been trying for like six or eight months
- 18:23Speaker 1: more and then we could like run fertility tests on you.
- 18:27Speaker 1: So I wasn't able to check my fertility. I don't
- 18:30Speaker 1: know if you can in the States. I just know
- 18:32Speaker 1: with our healthcare system, you know, we get everything for
- 18:36Speaker 1: free here in Canada because we pay into a system. So,
- 18:39Speaker 1: you know, I couldn't get that tested. So I essentially
- 18:43Speaker 1: was like going in like, okay, well, let's just hope
- 18:45Speaker 1: that my fertility is good. Like I have no idea, right? So,
- 18:50Speaker 1: you know, I heard acupuncture was really good for it.
- 18:52Speaker 1: So in April, I went, I think, one or two times.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I can't remember. But I was connected with this girl
- 19:00Speaker 1: in Ottawa who's called Kristen. She works at Refine Ottawa. Incredible.
- 19:05Speaker 1: By the way, if you're ever looking for an acupuncturist,
- 19:08Speaker 1: she is amazing. Absolutely adore her. So I saw her
- 19:11Speaker 1: twice that month. And she kept telling me, she's like, honestly,
- 19:13Speaker 1: I think if you came weekly, like you would see
- 19:16Speaker 1: huge benefits. Like I would really, really recommend it for
- 19:18Speaker 1: your next cycle if you're actively like really wanting to
- 19:21Speaker 1: get pregnant. I'm like, okay, cool. So May comes around
- 19:25Speaker 1: and I literally booked four appointments that day. Like I'm
- 19:28Speaker 1: like every single week, let's just book an appointment. And
- 19:31Speaker 1: I even booked my appointments based around my ovulation when
- 19:35Speaker 1: I'm like in the period where it's like the two
- 19:37Speaker 1: week wait period, you know, before pregnancy. taking a pregnancy
- 19:41Speaker 1: test to see if I was pregnant. I booked an
- 19:43Speaker 1: appointment every single week to really take advantage of the
- 19:49Speaker 1: acupuncture benefits for hoping to get pregnant. So basically, I
- 19:53Speaker 1: felt like May was the month where I took it
- 19:55Speaker 1: way more seriously. I was like, okay, I'm doing what
- 19:57Speaker 1: this girl tells me to do. She literally sent me
- 19:59Speaker 1: an email of things that I could do as well.
- 20:01Speaker 1: And I just took it so seriously that I was like,
- 20:03Speaker 1: I'm doing everything she tells me to do. Like she's
- 20:05Speaker 1: like eat a high protein diet, which I kind of
- 20:07Speaker 1: was already doing, obviously taking supplements, which I was already doing.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Another thing was like wearing socks when you go to sleep.
- 20:14Speaker 1: That was definitely something that I thought was interesting, but
- 20:17Speaker 1: I did it. I was like, I'm just going to
- 20:18Speaker 1: do it. I, again, I did everything she told me
- 20:21Speaker 1: to do. It was just supposed to help with like circulation,
- 20:23Speaker 1: I believe, which kind of helps with the uterus. But anyways,
- 20:26Speaker 1: at these acupuncture appointments, she would know my cycle day.
- 20:30Speaker 1: So she'd be like, okay, it's cycle day 10. We're
- 20:32Speaker 1: going to be focusing on this for acupuncture today. So again, very,
- 20:36Speaker 1: very fertility focused. And so May comes around and I
- 20:41Speaker 1: think my period's usually like at the end of the month.
- 20:43Speaker 1: And within that two week wait period, it's obviously like
- 20:46Speaker 1: very stressful. I feel like you're trying to not think
- 20:49Speaker 1: about it and not like, you know, think all these
- 20:51Speaker 1: symptoms could be pregnancy, right? Like you could be sneezing
- 20:54Speaker 1: a lot one day and you might search on Chachaputi
- 20:57Speaker 1: and they might be like, oh yeah, like sneezing could
- 20:59Speaker 1: be an early sign of pregnancy. Like you cannot do that.
- 21:01Speaker 1: That's one thing that I've learned is that you can't
- 21:04Speaker 1: like nitpick everything that feels off. That could be something
- 21:08Speaker 1: that could be a sign for early pregnancy, all that.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I really was trying to like avoid that in, you know,
- 21:14Speaker 1: the TTC journey. Cause I'm like, I really can't, get
- 21:16Speaker 1: too much in my head about it because at the
- 21:18Speaker 1: end of the day I just kind of went in
- 21:20Speaker 1: with the intention that it's God's timing I really kind
- 21:23Speaker 1: of leaned into faith of just like if it takes
- 21:26Speaker 1: six months it takes six months if it takes eight
- 21:27Speaker 1: months it takes eight months if it takes a year
- 21:29Speaker 1: it takes a year like I really just was like
- 21:31Speaker 1: open to anything at this point I just obviously wanted
- 21:34Speaker 1: to do everything I could on my end to like
- 21:36Speaker 1: increase the chances of obviously hoping to get pregnant And
- 21:40Speaker 1: so May comes around, I'm in my two week wait period, again,
- 21:43Speaker 1: trying to like keep myself busy, doing things, hanging out
- 21:46Speaker 1: with friends, like not trying to like overthink it too much.
- 21:49Speaker 1: And guys, I actually knew I was pregnant before I
- 21:53Speaker 1: took a pregnancy test. And the reason being is because
- 21:56Speaker 1: I woke up one morning and it was like five
- 21:58Speaker 1: days or six days before I could take a pregnancy test.
- 22:02Speaker 1: And the weirdest thing happened. I had this like really
- 22:05Speaker 1: weird taste in my mouth. It was like a heavy
- 22:08Speaker 1: metallic taste. And again, here I am saying like, don't
- 22:12Speaker 1: nitpick everything that you like think could be a pregnancy symptom, right?
- 22:16Speaker 1: So I didn't do anything. I just kind of was like,
- 22:19Speaker 1: you know, drinking my coffee, literally tasted like metal. It
- 22:23Speaker 1: was disgusting. Ate some watermelon. I'm like, okay, this is really,
- 22:26Speaker 1: really weird. So I had an acupuncture appointment like mid
- 22:31Speaker 1: of that week before I could take a pregnancy test.
- 22:35Speaker 1: And I told the Kristen, the girl that was my acupuncturist,
- 22:38Speaker 1: and I was like, I don't know. I'm like, I'm
- 22:41Speaker 1: getting this weird taste in my mouth. It's like, it's
- 22:43Speaker 1: been a metallic taste. I'm like, again, I'm not trying
- 22:44Speaker 1: to like think this could be an early pregnancy sign,
- 22:47Speaker 1: but it's definitely something that's like out of the normal
- 22:49Speaker 1: for me. Like really like weird to me. And even
- 22:52Speaker 1: Kristen was like, Hmm, like, okay. Like that could actually
- 22:57Speaker 1: be an early pregnancy sign. And I was like, wow. Okay.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Like that's crazy. Um, so then like those three days
- 23:02Speaker 1: before I could take a test, I was like, Holy crap.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Like maybe I am pregnant. Like you know? And then
- 23:07Speaker 1: Kristen was like, yeah, but again, we don't want to
- 23:09Speaker 1: think too much of it. Let's just continue doing your
- 23:11Speaker 1: acupuncture or whatever. I'm like, okay, cool. And then, you know,
- 23:15Speaker 1: my period day comes around and this is like the
- 23:17Speaker 1: day that I could take a test and I didn't
- 23:19Speaker 1: get my period. And I was like, oh my God, okay.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I am texting Zach. I'm like, okay, I think I
- 23:25Speaker 1: need to go pick up a test. Like I'm low-key
- 23:27Speaker 1: kind of freaking out. I'm really nervous. I've never taken
- 23:30Speaker 1: a pregnancy test in my life. Like really, really scared.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And he's like, okay, like, do you want to take
- 23:34Speaker 1: it together? And I was like, yeah, I do. I'm like,
- 23:36Speaker 1: I don't really want to do this without you. Like,
- 23:37Speaker 1: this is something that, you know, we have been talking
- 23:40Speaker 1: about for so long. And like, I feel like we
- 23:42Speaker 1: should do it together. I think like that would be
- 23:44Speaker 1: like really, really special and something to like look back on,
- 23:47Speaker 1: especially if I am pregnant. But I was so freaking scared, guys.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Like literally, I'm sure you could probably see the video
- 23:53Speaker 1: on TikTok and Instagram, but I was like vibrating. I
- 23:56Speaker 1: was shaking because I was so scared. Cause I'm like,
- 23:59Speaker 1: oh my God, like you're so excited of like wanting
- 24:02Speaker 1: to it to be pregnant. Obviously like you want the
- 24:04Speaker 1: test results to come back positive. But I also was
- 24:06Speaker 1: like so scared where I'm like, okay, like I don't
- 24:08Speaker 1: want to be disappointed. Like I don't want to be like, oh,
- 24:10Speaker 1: like we're not like, and then obviously be like sad.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Cause obviously like that's also very common too for people
- 24:15Speaker 1: in the TTC journey. So I just kind of felt
- 24:17Speaker 1: like I really didn't want to like overread the signals
- 24:19Speaker 1: of what I was getting like for the past few
- 24:21Speaker 1: days of, you know, my symptoms. I was like, you
- 24:23Speaker 1: know what, like whatever it is, like we're just going
- 24:25Speaker 1: to be, you know, happy. We're just going to be like, whatever.
- 24:29Speaker 1: If it's negative, we move on and we keep trying.
- 24:31Speaker 1: If it's positive, then great. Let's get excited about having
- 24:35Speaker 1: a baby and being pregnant. And then of course the
- 24:37Speaker 1: test came back positive. I immediately started crying just because
- 24:40Speaker 1: I was like, oh my God, I knew. I just
- 24:43Speaker 1: knew that I was, even though I didn't want to
- 24:45Speaker 1: believe it, I just had this gut feeling that I
- 24:47Speaker 1: was just based off of that metallic taste in my mouth.
- 24:51Speaker 1: And it was really just the best feeling also seeing
- 24:54Speaker 1: Zach get emotional and just see how excited he was
- 24:57Speaker 1: And in that moment, it just made me realize like
- 24:59Speaker 1: how we were both so beyond ready, you know, like
- 25:03Speaker 1: we were so beyond excited for this chapter together. Whereas
- 25:06Speaker 1: I feel like if I, you know, did it right
- 25:08Speaker 1: after the wedding or, you know, a year before, whatever
- 25:11Speaker 1: the case may be, I feel like I wouldn't have
- 25:13Speaker 1: been as excited as I was in the moment when
- 25:17Speaker 1: we did start trying, if that makes sense. So I
- 25:19Speaker 1: truly do believe that there is a gut feeling when
- 25:22Speaker 1: you do feel ready and whether you have to do
- 25:24Speaker 1: a prep like me to like mentally prepare yourself for that,
- 25:29Speaker 1: there is the right timing in my opinion. And I
- 25:31Speaker 1: do think our timing was perfect and I feel so excited.
- 25:36Speaker 1: I do think there is a perfect time for everybody.
- 25:39Speaker 1: And I'm really, really grateful that not only are we
- 25:41Speaker 1: pregnant with our first baby, but we're also moved into
- 25:45Speaker 1: a new house, and we're starting a new chapter in
- 25:48Speaker 1: our new home, which is, yeah, such a blessing. And again,
- 25:51Speaker 1: something that I feel like I've prayed for for so long.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Now I will say that we do know the gender
- 25:56Speaker 1: of the baby. I did record our reaction of finding out.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I am waiting to share the results until we get
- 26:03Speaker 1: double confirmation from our ultrasound in two weeks because that's
- 26:08Speaker 1: just like a double confirmation. I just like want to
- 26:10Speaker 1: make sure because I have heard stories where- people get
- 26:14Speaker 1: the results back early and it ends up being incorrect.
- 26:17Speaker 1: So I'm like, you know what? I don't want to
- 26:19Speaker 1: post the results to my followers until we have like
- 26:22Speaker 1: a double confirmation that this is the gender of our baby.
- 26:26Speaker 1: But I'm so excited to share that with you guys.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I think that's like really, really exciting. And there's so
- 26:31Speaker 1: many of you that have already messaged me saying you're
- 26:33Speaker 1: either the same week as me or do the same
- 26:35Speaker 1: month as me, or also just had a baby and
- 26:38Speaker 1: like you know, are so excited to kind of like
- 26:41Speaker 1: see my journey of being pregnant and like you obviously
- 26:44Speaker 1: being in the newborn bubble, or there's people who are
- 26:46Speaker 1: just pregnant in general who are, yeah, really excited to
- 26:50Speaker 1: have this journey with me, which I am literally so excited.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I feel like I have so much fun content planned
- 26:56Speaker 1: that I can't wait to share. I really want to
- 26:58Speaker 1: do like dress the bump with me, especially now going
- 27:00Speaker 1: into the fall season. You guys know how much I
- 27:02Speaker 1: love the fall. I've already done a bunch of shopping
- 27:04Speaker 1: just because I did have to buy a few new
- 27:06Speaker 1: pairs of pants just because my pants are fitting a
- 27:09Speaker 1: little snug right now. Um, they fit. It's just when
- 27:12Speaker 1: I sit down, the button literally will burst out of
- 27:15Speaker 1: my jeans. So I'm like, okay, it's time to start
- 27:17Speaker 1: looking for, you know, some pieces to style, but you know,
- 27:22Speaker 1: I'm trying to go down more of the, like the
- 27:23Speaker 1: affordable route, um, and like style fun things that way.
- 27:27Speaker 1: So stay tuned for some you know, styling videos of pregnancy.
- 27:31Speaker 1: That's definitely something that I've always wanted to do. So
- 27:33Speaker 1: I'm really excited that my job allows me to do
- 27:36Speaker 1: things like that. I think that's always so fun. So
- 27:38Speaker 1: definitely a lot of like style the bump with me,
- 27:40Speaker 1: which I'm excited about. Obviously, eventually we'll have like nursery plans,
- 27:45Speaker 1: you know, our baby shower. I think Zach and I
- 27:48Speaker 1: are also going to plan a little baby moon, hopefully
- 27:50Speaker 1: in the coming weeks. So just a lot to kind
- 27:55Speaker 1: of uncover. these next four months. But yeah, there's so
- 27:58Speaker 1: much going on these next few months that I'm so
- 28:00Speaker 1: excited to share with you guys. We actually had our
- 28:03Speaker 1: first ultrasound, you know, I think it's been two months
- 28:06Speaker 1: now since that happened. But I want to talk about
- 28:09Speaker 1: the first ultrasound for a second because I feel like
- 28:11Speaker 1: you don't feel like it's real until you get your ultrasound.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I don't know if anyone else has felt that way,
- 28:16Speaker 1: like if anyone has kids here on the podcast. But
- 28:19Speaker 1: for the first eight weeks of they literally, like you
- 28:23Speaker 1: have nothing except you've peed on a stick. That's it.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Like you have like weird feelings obviously about like, you know,
- 28:28Speaker 1: you're in your stomach and all that. And like, you're
- 28:30Speaker 1: obviously nauseous and feeling sick. But I was like, is
- 28:33Speaker 1: there something actually inside me? Like, I felt like I
- 28:35Speaker 1: needed like confirmation from the ultrasound in order to be like, yep. Okay.
- 28:41Speaker 1: There's something in there. I'm pregnant. Like even going to
- 28:43Speaker 1: my doctor's appointment, she's obviously talking to me about everything like,
- 28:46Speaker 1: you know, OBGYNs, midwives, whatever. And I'm kind of like, okay, yeah, yeah.
- 28:50Speaker 1: And then I'm like, yeah, like I need to confirm
- 28:53Speaker 1: that I'm pregnant like some other way besides just a
- 28:55Speaker 1: pregnancy test. Like this is not enough for me. So
- 28:58Speaker 1: then by week eight, you're waiting again, like four and
- 29:01Speaker 1: a half weeks until you get your ultrasound. And then
- 29:04Speaker 1: once we had our ultrasound, I was like, oh my God, okay,
- 29:06Speaker 1: I am pregnant. Like it just kind of like confirmed it.
- 29:10Speaker 1: It was such a cute moment though. Like Zach was
- 29:11Speaker 1: so emotional. Like I was obviously like so happy because
- 29:15Speaker 1: I think that's like a really scary appointment to go
- 29:18Speaker 1: into because it's like, You never really know how it's
- 29:20Speaker 1: going to go. So I was like really, really scared
- 29:23Speaker 1: before that appointment. But like hearing the reassurance of like
- 29:26Speaker 1: hearing the baby's heartbeat and like, you know, yeah, just
- 29:29Speaker 1: knowing that we had a healthy baby was like, again,
- 29:32Speaker 1: the best feeling and something that I was really, really
- 29:35Speaker 1: grateful for. But yeah, I'm pregnant. I'm not going to
- 29:38Speaker 1: obviously make my whole podcast. about being pregnant, but obviously
- 29:41Speaker 1: being in this phase of my life, I definitely want
- 29:42Speaker 1: to try and incorporate it in some future episodes and
- 29:45Speaker 1: all that. But of course, the next few episodes are
- 29:47Speaker 1: really going to be about fall, getting excited about this
- 29:50Speaker 1: new season that's approaching. my favorite things to look forward
- 29:55Speaker 1: to this season, all that. So I feel like I'll
- 29:57Speaker 1: have a lot to uncover for the fall season. And
- 30:01Speaker 1: then obviously I am in my new house right now.
- 30:04Speaker 1: We're trying to buy some furniture, kind of get the
- 30:06Speaker 1: house situated. Right now the house is still kind of
- 30:09Speaker 1: a crap show, not going to lie. There's some construction
- 30:11Speaker 1: going on in our kitchen. So I'm kind of living
- 30:13Speaker 1: at my parents' place and also living at the new
- 30:16Speaker 1: house for the time being. I'm sure it's going to
- 30:18Speaker 1: be like that, honestly, for the next two weeks. I
- 30:20Speaker 1: think we'll technically be officially moved in by the end
- 30:22Speaker 1: of September just because we still don't have our appliances installed.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Little things like that you don't think about until you're
- 30:29Speaker 1: actually living in the house and realize, oh, okay, I
- 30:32Speaker 1: need a fridge in order to eat food. I need
- 30:34Speaker 1: a stove in order to eat lunch. And anyways, you
- 30:37Speaker 1: don't realize how important those things are until you're in
- 30:40Speaker 1: that situation where you don't have them. So kind of
- 30:43Speaker 1: just living in two different spots for the time being.
- 30:45Speaker 1: But yeah, That's today's episode. I really just wanted to
- 30:49Speaker 1: give you guys a huge update of what's been going
- 30:51Speaker 1: on these past few months. And obviously being pregnant, I
- 30:54Speaker 1: wanted to share my journey and how things have been.
- 30:57Speaker 1: And yeah, I am very grateful to be in this
- 31:01Speaker 1: phase of my life and share this journey with you
- 31:03Speaker 1: guys through social media, through the podcast, all that. And yeah,
- 31:08Speaker 1: I'm just so grateful to be able to call this
