Latest / Mom Street USA / 87. Speaking the Disney Parks Language
Transcript
- 0:05Welcome everybody to Mom St. USA.
- 0:07My name is Jackie AKA Wishes Mama.
- 0:10And on today's episode we are going to be talking about
- 0:13something that I don't feel like is talked about enough, but is
- 0:16very crucial if you are someone who is planning a Disney trip
- 0:21coming up soon or thinking about a Disney trip coming up soon and
- 0:25that is speaking the Disney parks language.
- 0:29So that is something that everybody I feel like needs to
- 0:33know because there are so many terms and abbreviations and
- 0:37things that come into planning a Disney trip, visiting the Disney
- 0:42parks. So hopefully today's episode
- 0:45will give you a good basis to start on deciphering some of the
- 0:49code that is the Disney parks. And we are going to talk about
- 0:53some terminology and kind of give you some little, maybe a
- 0:57little encyclopedia of, of Disney terminology.
- 1:01Then we're also going to talk about Disney abbreviations
- 1:04because there are a lot of them and they can get lost in
- 1:06translation very easy. So that is the hope for today
- 1:11because Disney definitely has those terms and abbreviations
- 1:16that are frequently used when talking about the resorts in the
- 1:19park. So my hope is that this will
- 1:21give you that guide to help you out.
- 1:24Just a note before we kind of jump in.
- 1:26This is not by any means a complete total abbreviation list
- 1:33or terminology list when it comes to Disney.
- 1:36We would be here all night because there are so many things
- 1:40to talk about. But I'm going to give you what I
- 1:43think are the highlights and some of the more important ones
- 1:46that will hopefully help you then not have quite so big of a
- 1:50list that you don't know what they mean.
- 1:52So that's the hope for today. Hopefully by the end you feel
- 1:56really good about all of these terms.
- 1:59So let's start off with some different terminology that the
- 2:03Disney parks use. Now, some of this may seem to
- 2:08those of us who have visited Disney like a very basic, Oh
- 2:12yeah, everybody knows that that may or may not be the case.
- 2:15You know, those of us that are frequenting the parks a lot or
- 2:19have been or live in the Disney bubble, these are going to seem
- 2:24like really basic terms. But for somebody who is brand
- 2:28new to the parks, has never visited before, is planning
- 2:31their very first trip, these, I think, are useful terms that
- 2:35somebody might want to know before going to the Disney
- 2:38parks. So we're going to go kind of in
- 2:41alphabetical order because that was just the way that my brain
- 2:44arranged it when I was making these notes and compiling my
- 2:47list. I will mention that some of our
- 2:51lovely Mom St. community members did help out on our Discord
- 2:54channel. I had put a question in there
- 2:58about what terms and abbreviations they thought would
- 3:01be helpful to include in this episode.
- 3:02So quite a few of these were mentioned in our Discord
- 3:06channel. So if you were someone who
- 3:07chimed in, thank you so much for your assistance.
- 3:10I really appreciate it because I feel like in a, in a topic like
- 3:13this, it's easy to forget something that might be helpful
- 3:16to those who need it. So first term that we're going
- 3:20to start with is kind of a basic one, but I think it's important
- 3:22and that is just the term attraction.
- 3:25Depending on if you're super familiar with the Disney parks
- 3:31or any sort of theme park or you know, even somewhere like a Six
- 3:38Flags or those types of things, attraction may or may not be
- 3:42something that you're used to hearing.
- 3:44So at Disney, the term attraction just really applies
- 3:49to any ride or show in the parks.
- 3:52It's something that you can attend, go to view, ride on in
- 3:58the parks. So think about your different
- 4:01shows. You might go to a theater to sit
- 4:03in any rides that you might go to.
- 4:05Those are all considered attractions in the Disney parks.
- 4:08So anytime you hear that, that's what somebody's talking about.
- 4:11It doesn't refer to just rides. It is kind of all-encompassing
- 4:15when it comes to that. The next one that I want to talk
- 4:18about is audio animatronic. This is one that most people
- 4:23have probably heard. It's a little more commonly used
- 4:27for things outside of the parks, I would think to some extent.
- 4:32And basically the the definition that is given is a lifelike
- 4:39robotic person or animal that is programmed to move, speak, sing
- 4:46simultaneously. So they have simultaneous
- 4:48responsibility for that audio animatronic.
- 4:52The majority of the attractions that you will visit at the
- 4:56Disney parks have a lot of audio animatronics.
- 4:59Think about things like Pirates of the Caribbean, think about,
- 5:03you know, Haunted Mansion, a lot of the ones at Magic Kingdom or
- 5:08in Disneyland, their equivalent over there going to have those
- 5:11audio animatronics because that was the technology that was new
- 5:16and revolutionary whenever Walt and his team were creating the
- 5:21Disney parks. So that's what a lot of those
- 5:23kind of original early attractions used before, you
- 5:28know, more popular now we see screens and more like 3D
- 5:31effects. So this was, you know, before
- 5:34all of that. So that's when you will find a
- 5:35lot of those. If you're visiting the Disney
- 5:38parks and you hear someone talk about a backstage area, all that
- 5:44means is that it is an area just for the workers, just for the
- 5:49cast members, which is our next terminology, which just means an
- 5:52employee of Disney World, Disneyland, the Disney Parks,
- 5:55they're all considered cast members.
- 5:57So a backstage area is an area that is just for cast members.
- 6:01There is no guest access. That's where the cast members
- 6:04can go for breaks. That's where a lot of your
- 6:07characters will get prepped and ready to come on stage, which is
- 6:11another term that you will hear in the Disney parks, which is
- 6:13the opposite of backstage on stage is the guest areas in the
- 6:18park. So a little bit of stage
- 6:20terminology for that because that's the way that that Walt
- 6:24Disney set up the parks. You know, it was a guest
- 6:28centered area that that these workers were going on to.
- 6:35So thus the name cast member, part of the cast for the show,
- 6:40for the production that is the Disney parks.
- 6:42So a couple terms backstage, on stage, cast member, those are
- 6:47all really important ones to know.
- 6:51Something else that you might need to know when it comes to
- 6:54visiting the Disney parks are the terminology that they use in
- 6:58the ticketing atmosphere. So again, these are kind of
- 7:00alphabetical order. So we're going to hop around a
- 7:03little bit. But to the first one ticket wise
- 7:06that I want to talk about are is the terminology base ticket.
- 7:11So a base ticket is simply just a ticket that is good for one
- 7:15park for one day that is your or one park per day.
- 7:20I should say. A base ticket is something that
- 7:22is good for one park per day. And that is just your basic
- 7:25ticket, base ticket for Disney World whenever you're planning
- 7:29your trip. So we'll get into more ticket
- 7:33options here. A little bit down the list in my
- 7:35ABC order, but that is your first terminology for tickets.
- 7:39Something else you might want to look into when you are planning
- 7:42your Disney trip is some dining. So you may hear the term
- 7:48character dining. Character dining is a restaurant
- 7:52experience where you have the opportunity to meet one or more
- 7:57characters during your meal. There are tons of character
- 8:01dining experiences at Disney World.
- 8:04There are a few at Disneyland, but definitely still some great
- 8:07options. And we've covered actually all
- 8:10of the character dining options on Mom Street.
- 8:12So again, our archives are available on our YouTube channel
- 8:16at Mom St. USA.
- 8:17You can find them on there very easily, but character dining is
- 8:21just that you have the dining experience where you get the
- 8:26opportunity to interact or meet with one or more characters.
- 8:30Lots of different styles of character dining.
- 8:32Some are sit down table service where you've got a waiter or
- 8:36waitress that is, you know, taking your order and bringing
- 8:39you food. There are buffets that are
- 8:41character dining as well. So a couple different options
- 8:45when it comes to that, but basically just refers to the
- 8:48fact that there are characters around.
- 8:51Moving down our list, this is going to be a feel a little bit
- 8:54like rapid fire, but this just kind of feel like I'm reading an
- 8:57encyclopedia a little bit to you guys today.
- 9:00But moving down our list, hopping around a little, we're
- 9:03going to talk about dark rides. This is a term that I feel like
- 9:08is not very well utilized, but may be helpful if you are
- 9:12someone that is looking into the types of attractions.
- 9:15We talked about attraction, the type of attractions that are at
- 9:19the Disney park that you're looking to visit.
- 9:21So a dark ride is something that is classified as an indoor ride
- 9:26that moves the guests through scenes to create a narrative.
- 9:30So think about something like if you're familiar with the Peter
- 9:34Pan ride at Magic Kingdom, that's a very, very popular dark
- 9:38ride that you can find there. You know, so those types of
- 9:43rides that are inside mostly in the dark or darkish right
- 9:48setting that move you through a narrative.
- 9:51So there's got to be some sort of a storyline that's going
- 9:53through whenever it comes to to that type of ride.
- 9:57You will find that classification on the Disney
- 10:00website. So if you're looking up
- 10:02different rides to go on and you're unsure about what type of
- 10:05ride it is, you will find that dark rides are a classification
- 10:12that they use. So that can help you kind of
- 10:14determine. Some dark rides are slow moving,
- 10:17some are faster moving, so you may have to look at some other
- 10:22key factors underneath there. But dark ride is definitely a
- 10:25category that you will see on the the website as you're
- 10:28looking through. A couple other things in our
- 10:33alphabet in that start with the letter D deluxe resort, deluxe
- 10:39resort. We haven't talked about resorts
- 10:40yet, but a deluxe resort, you will find that Disney is the
- 10:44highest level and most expensive of the resorts at Disney World
- 10:49and Disneyland. So all of the Disneyland resorts
- 10:53are considered that deluxe category resort at Disney World,
- 10:58there are I believe around 15 ish.
- 11:02Don't quote me on that number, I didn't look it up.
- 11:04That's just off the top of my head.
- 11:06Deluxe resorts on 15 ish, don't quote me on that number, I
- 11:11didn't look it up. That's just off the top, top of
- 11:12my head, Deluxe resorts that you can find.
- 11:16So that deluxe category is just your top tier, your most
- 11:19expensive resorts on Disney property.
- 11:24Something else to look into. This one is a little bit more
- 11:28specific, doesn't always apply to or doesn't apply to
- 11:32everybody, and that is the Disability Access Service Pass.
- 11:36So again, going alphabetically, this is also referred to as the
- 11:40DAS Pass or DAS. This pass is Disney's service
- 11:46that accommodates guests who cannot wait in lines.
- 11:49And I'm not going to go into details about DAS and how it
- 11:52works and who qualifies. All of that is available on the
- 11:55website, but it's helpful to know that that is the
- 11:58terminology that Disney uses for that accessibility feature that
- 12:02they offer. Again, that is the disability
- 12:05access service or DAS or DAS or DAS.
- 12:08Pass a couple different ways that you might hear that
- 12:11referred to from someone that you may be speaking to about
- 12:14Disney. A few more in our alphabetical
- 12:19list that start with D. The Disney Dining Plan is
- 12:23something that you may hear as you are looking to plan your
- 12:27trip currently. Right now there are lots of
- 12:31package deals with dining included, so you will see that a
- 12:34lot on the Disney website. As I'm recording this, these
- 12:38these deals for the Disney Dining Plan come and go, but the
- 12:42Disney Dining Plan itself is always available and that is
- 12:45just essentially pre purchasing dining credits that you pay for
- 12:53as part of your vacation package that then you can utilize for
- 12:59meals at Disney. There's two different options
- 13:02that they offer. They offer a quick service and a
- 13:05table service option and I'll talk about those here in just a
- 13:07second. But they have two different
- 13:10options and they will essentially give you so many
- 13:13meals and so many snacks throughout your vacation
- 13:15depending on how many days you're going and what you pay
- 13:18for with that. Now, under Disney Dining, like I
- 13:22just mentioned, there are two different categories that you
- 13:25can look to purchase or two different types of restaurants
- 13:29that you can look to go to even without the Disney Dining Plan.
- 13:33So all of these restaurants are open to anybody who chooses to
- 13:37eat eat there. Some of them need reservations,
- 13:39some of them don't. Your table service restaurants
- 13:44are going to be the ones that you sit down, You're going to
- 13:47have a waiter that is going to take your order, bring your
- 13:50food, those types of things. So that is your table service
- 13:53option. Your quick service option is
- 13:56going to be more of like a cafeteria style where you go
- 14:01order your food, pick it up out of tray and then go and find a
- 14:04seat to sit at. So no waiters or waitresses when
- 14:07it comes to the quick service option.
- 14:10So those are two other terms that will be helpful if you are
- 14:13visiting Disney. Those are also listed under the
- 14:17restaurants on the Disney website or the app.
- 14:20So again, if you're doing your research and looking into
- 14:24different options that you may have for dining, those terms are
- 14:28what you're going to see. You're going to see quick
- 14:30service for those you know that you go up in order and take it
- 14:35to a table, you're going to see a table service or those sit
- 14:39down waiter waitress style restaurants.
- 14:42So all of that venting is encompassed under the Disney
- 14:46dining or Disney Dining Plan if you are pre purchasing those
- 14:49credits. So a couple layers to that one.
- 14:52Hopefully I explained that in a way that all makes sense as we
- 14:56are thinking about dining for your upcoming trip.
- 15:00Something else to think about and consider is not directly
- 15:06parks related, but is Disney property related and that is
- 15:10Disney Springs. So it may seem like a given that
- 15:14a lot of people know what Disney Springs is, but it has gone
- 15:18through a couple iterations and a couple name changes in the
- 15:21past year. So Disney Springs is the
- 15:24shopping district located at Walt Disney World on property.
- 15:30That is where you can go to find the big this merchandise store
- 15:34on Walt Disney World property, which is the World of Disney
- 15:37Store. They also have a lot of third
- 15:39party operated stores and shops and restaurants there as well.
- 15:43So Disney Springs is the name of the shopping district at Disney
- 15:48World. Now if you're visiting
- 15:50Disneyland, they have something equivalent but smaller, but
- 15:55there's a still called Downtown Disney, which is the former
- 15:58title of what the one at Walt Disney World was called prior to
- 16:02the change in the 20 tens. Sometime, I don't remember
- 16:06exactly when, but Downtown Disney is still that shopping
- 16:10district that you will find outside of Disneyland and
- 16:15Disney's California Adventure. It is the difference between the
- 16:19two. The one at Disneyland is
- 16:21directly connected to the parks, so you can easily walk to their
- 16:27Downtown Disney district from inside the parks at Disney
- 16:30World. You're going to have to either
- 16:32drive or take bus transportation to get to Disney Springs because
- 16:36is it is not directly connected to the parks that are there.
- 16:41So just a little note about that if you're wondering about
- 16:44transportation, but those are your shopping districts that
- 16:47you're going to find on either coast of the United States based
- 16:50parks. The final term in our ABC D list
- 16:57is the Disney Vacation Club. You will also hear this referred
- 17:02to as DVC and Disney Vacation Club is Disney's timeshare
- 17:06program where guests can purchase points to go towards
- 17:12Disney accommodation. So most of the time you're going
- 17:15to be purchasing points at a home resort.
- 17:18It is a timeshare. You're purchasing a set amount
- 17:21of points that you can then utilize.
- 17:24You are not limited to just that particular resort that you
- 17:27purchase for, but that will become your home resort.
- 17:30There's lots of details and things that are very specific to
- 17:35DVC and that program for the Disney Vacation Club.
- 17:38Again, is the the the full name of the term that we're talking
- 17:42about? So if you're interested in that,
- 17:43definitely check it out online because I am not DVC and I do
- 17:47not have all of the details. I know enough about it to help
- 17:51explain it briefly to you all, but I am not DVC.
- 17:54So if that's something that interests you, be sure to look
- 17:58that up online. But that is their timeshare
- 18:00program and the terminology that they will use when speaking
- 18:04about people who own points in that timeshare program.
- 18:10Moving on out of the DS, I feel like there was a lot that we had
- 18:14in that section. We're going to kind of press
- 18:17Fast forward through the rest of this alphabet here.
- 18:20The next term and the first term in our E section of our ABC list
- 18:25of terms for Disney Parks is E ticket.
- 18:27This is again one kind of like we talked about earlier with
- 18:32dark ride, this is one that I feel like is not always used or
- 18:37you may hear it and and most people don't really know what
- 18:40that means. So an E ticket attraction or if
- 18:44you consider something E ticket, it is a term that is used to
- 18:49describe basically the most popular slash newest slash
- 18:55biggest and best Disney attractions.
- 18:59So this term is very historical in the Disney parks.
- 19:05It comes from the old ticketing system that they used to use.
- 19:09So they used to have books of tickets that you could purchase
- 19:12for the attractions at Disney Parks in Each of the books of
- 19:19tickets had ABCD&E listed in there and then each ride or
- 19:25attraction would get categorized under those and they would be
- 19:30different amounts that you would have to pay to to ride.
- 19:34So the E ticket was the end of that book.
- 19:38The most thrilling and most popular attractions were
- 19:42considered those E tickets, whereas the A ticket was kind of
- 19:46the tamest and most easygoing kind of attractions at the park.
- 19:52So if I'm giving examples of something that would be
- 19:55considered an E ticket, thinking about Disney World, I would
- 20:00think like Guardians of the Galaxy, Cosmic Rewind, that
- 20:03would be considered an E ticket attraction.
- 20:06Something like Tron at Magic Kingdom, that would be
- 20:09considered an E ticket attraction.
- 20:11The newest, the most popular, the biggest, most thrilling.
- 20:15That's what you're looking for. If you're thinking about
- 20:17Disneyland, something like their Guardians of the Galaxy mission
- 20:21breakout would be a great option for that.
- 20:25So you you kind of get the idea with those.
- 20:28Again, that's something that you can look up.
- 20:31Now. The Disney sites and apps will
- 20:34not list E ticket because it is kind of a term that is not not
- 20:41used directly by Disney parks, but used frequently by locals
- 20:46and people who who do go to the parks a lot will use that
- 20:50terminology, but it's not something that's directly used
- 20:53by Disney. So you won't necessarily find
- 20:56that classification online, but you will see that they have like
- 21:00thrill rides listed and things like that.
- 21:03So you can kind of gauge that. And again, is knowing E ticket
- 21:09and what that means going to be crucial to your Disney vacation?
- 21:11Probably not, but it's a fun term to know.
- 21:14You may or may not hear it depending on who you're around
- 21:17on your trip. So that's why I included it in
- 21:19this list for us. Let's talk a little bit about
- 21:23characters. We haven't touched on characters
- 21:25yet on our terminology list here, but a couple things to
- 21:30know about when you're referring to different characters.
- 21:35The first is you may hear the term face character, and if you
- 21:40hear the term face character in the parks or at the resorts or
- 21:45wherever, you may see a character on Disney property.
- 21:48That just simply refers to a character whose actual face is
- 21:53visible and they can and will speak to guests.
- 21:57So something like the princesses are going to be face characters.
- 22:03Characters like Mary Poppins, Alice, Peter Pan, Moana, those
- 22:09are all going to be considered face characters when it comes to
- 22:13the parks. On the opposite side of that,
- 22:16you also may hear the term fur character.
- 22:20So a fur character is a character whose face is covered
- 22:24by their costume and they do not speak because of that.
- 22:29So Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, those are all
- 22:35going to be considered for characters.
- 22:38The country bears at Magic Kingdom are going to be
- 22:41considered fur characters. Stitch is considered a fur
- 22:45character. You get the idea.
- 22:47So two different designations for that.
- 22:50And that's also a really good way to know whether or not a
- 22:54character is going to speak to in your interaction with them.
- 22:57So that way you know what to anticipate with your kiddo.
- 23:01So if you are standing in line and you noticed that the
- 23:03character you're going to you're standing in line to meet is a
- 23:07face character, well then you know that you're going to be
- 23:10able to have a verbal interaction with them.
- 23:12If they are a fur character, please still speak to them, but
- 23:16just understand they're going to be doing a lot of pointing and
- 23:19gesturing and their handler, their cast member handler who is
- 23:22with them will help kind of translate if that's needed in
- 23:26your interaction. But that's a really good way to
- 23:29know with your kiddos and to be able to prep them accordingly.
- 23:32And I did talk a lot about character meet and greets on a
- 23:35recent episode of Mom Street. So if you want to hear more
- 23:39about how character meet and greets work and ideas and tips
- 23:43and tricks for that, you can find that episode again in our
- 23:47archives on our YouTube or wherever you get your podcast,
- 23:50Spotify, Apple, all those good places as well.
- 23:54OK, skipping on a little bit in our alphabet of terminology here
- 24:00to something completely different.
- 24:02And we're in the HS now. So moving right along to Hidden
- 24:06Mickey. This is a super fun term and
- 24:09this is something that I encourage everybody, especially
- 24:12if you're taking like elementary aged kids to the parks or older
- 24:17from there, but definitely starting kind of that pre-K
- 24:20elementary age is Hidden Mickey. These in the parks are Mickey
- 24:26Mouse shaped icons. They can be and most often are
- 24:32A1 big circle for the head and two small circles for the ear.
- 24:36So you're going to see a 33 circle hidden Mickey and they
- 24:42can be found hidden everywhere through the parks resorts and
- 24:46they've been placed there purposefully.
- 24:48Now frequently you will also find like silhouettes of Mickey
- 24:53or sometimes you'll find Mickey's full body depending on
- 24:56what you're looking for. There are several books of
- 24:59hidden Mickeys that exist out in the Disney universe.
- 25:02So look those up and grab yourself one of those.
- 25:06Some of them come with pre made like scavenger hunts, but
- 25:10basically as you're standing in queues or riding rides, that's
- 25:13something extra fun that you can be looking for with your with
- 25:19your group that you're with. Now these are placed
- 25:22purposefully there by imagineers.
- 25:26Well, you may be asking yourself, what is an imagineer?
- 25:30Well, that perfectly leads us to that term on our list.
- 25:35So an imagineer is a term that was coined by Walt Disney and he
- 25:41created it with a using a combination of imagination and
- 25:47engineer. So the imagineers are the people
- 25:50who dream up and create everything that is put into the
- 25:54Disney parks and the resort. So that is your creative team
- 25:59behind and your team that is on the ground physically building
- 26:03all of the attractions shows they do, the parades, the
- 26:07fireworks, they do everything in the parks.
- 26:09So those hidden Mickeys are purposefully placed there by
- 26:14Disney Imagineers and the Imagineers are those people who
- 26:17have created the parks. Again, Hidden Mickeys are so fun
- 26:22for for something a little extra bonus to be able to look for
- 26:27their great ways to help with your long lines you may be
- 26:31waiting in. Some of those Hidden Mickey
- 26:34books are divided by attraction. So if you know that you're going
- 26:39to be waiting in a 30 minute line for a certain attraction,
- 26:42you can flip to the page in that Hidden Mickey book and look up
- 26:45the different options for that particular ride and hopefully be
- 26:48able to find some yourself. OK, moving forward in our
- 26:53alphabet to a couple other terms that will be helpful.
- 26:57We've got a lot of Ms. coming up, so we're going to live with
- 27:00some M terms here for the next few.
- 27:03The first one is Magic Band, and I should have grabbed 1 and I
- 27:06didn't to show you those of you who are watching us visually
- 27:09right now. But a magic band is a rubber
- 27:12wristband that serves as your ticket, resort key and more.
- 27:16So there are several different iterations of magic bands and
- 27:21the newest ones have LED lights in them.
- 27:24There are some older models that do not that just have a little
- 27:28Mickey head, but basically imagine kind of a rubbery
- 27:32version of like an Apple Watch or a Fitbit that is Disney
- 27:36themed. And you can utilize that to get
- 27:39in and out of the parks, your resort room if you're staying on
- 27:42property. The newer ones do have some
- 27:45interactive features with the Gold's character statues around
- 27:50the parks and with bounty hunting and Galaxy's Edge at
- 27:54Hollywood Studios, they are not necessary.
- 27:58You get the question a lot, at least I do as someone who helps
- 28:02people give them tips for their trips.
- 28:05And things people frequently will ask are magic bands.
- 28:09Like do we need to have magic bands?
- 28:12You do not need to have them. They are just a fun accessory
- 28:16and they are a more convenient way to have your ticket kind of
- 28:22readily available. They in the past they were free
- 28:26and included with vacation packages.
- 28:28They are no longer free. They typically run anywhere from
- 28:3235 to $45.00 for your standard ones.
- 28:37Some of the more limited special edition ones are quite a bit
- 28:40more expensive. Some of them up into the 100 or
- 28:42$200 range because some of them are that specialty and they have
- 28:49some big brand names that they'll collaborate with such as
- 28:53like Doody and Berk and things like that.
- 28:55So you'll find magic bands and all sorts of ranges.
- 28:59They do have just basic colored ones.
- 29:01They have a lot of Disney character ones as well.
- 29:05I have some Stitch magic bands because Stitch is one of my
- 29:08favorite character. So you'll find lots of different
- 29:11options for magic bands. So again, not required, but
- 29:15definitely a fun little way to have a little bit of extra magic
- 29:20that you get to carry around with you.
- 29:23The next in our list of terminology for the Disney Parks
- 29:27and RMS is Magic Mobile. So this is actually something
- 29:32that can help you if you choose not to have a magic band.
- 29:37And Magic Mobile is Disney's term for the system from the
- 29:42Disney app, which is the My Disney Experience app, which
- 29:46we'll talk about here in a moment.
- 29:48That will allow you to have your ticket or pass in your mobile
- 29:53wallet on your device. So those of you that are
- 29:56familiar with utilizing mobile wallets for paying with credit
- 30:00cards or ID cards, things like that.
- 30:04You can use your device's mobile wallet to have your Disney
- 30:09ticket on as your means of entry and that is through the Magic
- 30:14Mobile section of your Disney app.
- 30:18So that is something that you have to set up ahead of time to
- 30:21have it pre loaded. You have to kind of agree to
- 30:24offload it off of your My Disney Experience app and put it in
- 30:29your mobile wallet. So definitely something to do
- 30:31ahead of time, but that is another way of gaining entry
- 30:35into the parks. Do keep in mind that if you want
- 30:38to use your phone, you have to go through that process.
- 30:41There is nothing that the cast members can scan at the entry
- 30:45point. If you don't go through that
- 30:47process, they're going to send you over to guest services to
- 30:50get that done. If you're at the the tap styles
- 30:52waiting to get in. So be sure that you do that if
- 30:56you're not planning on using a magic band or having a physical
- 30:59ticket, which is your other option.
- 31:00Obviously to be able to get in and a physical ticket, you would
- 31:04need to see guest services to to handle that as well.
- 31:07So while we're talking about the app, let's talk about my Disney
- 31:12Experience. My Disney Experience is the term
- 31:17and the name of the Disney World app.
- 31:20So they don't just call it Disney World, it is called My
- 31:22Disney Experience and that is where you will find everything
- 31:26you need to know for your Disney World trip.
- 31:28Now Disneyland makes it a lot easier so I didn't even include
- 31:32it on my list because their app is just called the Disneyland
- 31:35app. Don't know why Disney World's is
- 31:37different, they just decided to be difficult with the naming I
- 31:41guess. But that Magic mobile is
- 31:44something that you will find in that My Disney Experience Disney
- 31:47World app. Something else that we actually
- 31:51talked about recently here on Mom St.
- 31:54USA that I was just mentioning earlier in our character
- 31:57episode, we talked a little bit about Photo Pass and what Magic
- 32:02Shots and Memory Maker are. So let's talk about all of those
- 32:06terms here to make sure that you're clued in if you missed
- 32:09that episode. Photo Pass is the overall
- 32:13terminology that Disney uses for photos that are taken by Disney
- 32:16Cast members. And you will find Photo Pass
- 32:21locations throughout the parks a lot, especially in Disney World,
- 32:26not as many in Disneyland, but you will still find them there.
- 32:30And those are specific cast members that their role is to
- 32:34take those photos for you and your family.
- 32:37So this is something that you have to purchase, and when you
- 32:41go through to do that, you will purchase what they call the
- 32:44Memory Maker. So Memory Maker is the purchase
- 32:48that allows you access to all the photos taken by Photo Pass.
- 32:53So Photo Pass is the actual act of getting the photo taken, But
- 32:57without the memory Maker, you're going to have a big Disney
- 33:00watermark across your photo and you're not going to be able to
- 33:04view the whole thing or download it without that watermark.
- 33:07So memory maker is the term for purchasing those photos to be
- 33:12able to have them, download them, save them on your device.
- 33:16One of the options of photos is a magic shot.
- 33:20So a magic shot is a digital enhancement of your photo that
- 33:25is taken by a photo pass cast member.
- 33:28They'll do things such as adding a Disney character to the photo
- 33:33or one of the ones that I like that they do on Main Street.
- 33:36They have you put your hands up like this, like you're holding a
- 33:38bunch of balloons, and then they'll put these adorable
- 33:41Mickey balloons, you know, added digitally into your photo.
- 33:44So that is what they call a magic shot.
- 33:47Most of the cast members that do photo pass, regardless of
- 33:53location, should have at least one magic shot.
- 33:56You just have to ask them. So if you're getting your photo
- 33:59taken, you know where, wherever in the parks you find a good
- 34:04angle and a good photo pass, you know, line that you're going to
- 34:07wait and it's not too long. When they go to take your photo,
- 34:10just ask them if they have any magic shots at their location.
- 34:15And chances are very, very good that they're going to say yes.
- 34:19And then they're going to tell you what to do.
- 34:21They might have you put your hands out in front of you and
- 34:23then they're going to put Tinkerbell in your hands or
- 34:26there's so many different options that they have.
- 34:28Now, if your cast member says no, feel free to ask them if any
- 34:32other cast member photo pass cast members around them have a
- 34:35magic shot because chances are good they know what locations do
- 34:38because those photo pass cast members rotate a lot.
- 34:42They're not all numbers rotate a lot, right?
- 34:44They're not always in the same place at the same time.
- 34:47So they're going to know where you can find a magic shop that
- 34:50is nearby. So that is what you are hearing
- 34:54when you hear someone talking about a magic shot or seeing it
- 34:57on a Disney Facebook group or you know, a blog.
- 35:01Those magic shots are those ones where they digitally enhance the
- 35:05photos and add characters and fun little Disney surprises into
- 35:08them. Few more M's here.
- 35:12The next one that I want to talk about is actually an
- 35:15abbreviation and a term that you will hear.
- 35:18So I put it up in this category because I felt like it made
- 35:22sense to me. And that is the abbreviation for
- 35:25the Orlando International Airport, which is MCO.
- 35:29So it's not an M term necessarily, but it is something
- 35:34that you will hear and see if you are planning to fly into
- 35:38Disney. MCO is the abbreviation for the
- 35:43Orlando International Airport and that is the main airport
- 35:48that is right in Orlando. There is another airport nearby
- 35:53that I will talk about in a little bit when we get a little
- 35:57further down the the list here, but just wanted to put that in
- 36:01there so that way you all knew. OK, let's continue on with our
- 36:05M's. Our next M term is mobile order.
- 36:09So we talked earlier about the Disney Dining Plan and the table
- 36:14service versus quick service. So mobile order goes hand in
- 36:19hand with a lot of quick service restaurants.
- 36:21Those are the ones that you will order at the window, get your
- 36:25food on a tray and walk it yourself to the table.
- 36:28So a mobile order is a special feature at select quick service
- 36:32restaurants. Not every quick service
- 36:33restaurant has them, but the majority do.
- 36:37So it is a special feature that allows you to place your order
- 36:41from your phone app, either the My Disney Experience app at
- 36:45Disney World or the Disneyland app at Disneyland.
- 36:48And then you will go pick it up at a designated time and
- 36:51designated window, thus giving you the option to skip the the
- 36:56the standby line in quotes. You will you won't have to stand
- 37:01in line to wait to order and then stand in line to wait for
- 37:04your food. You can do it all on your phone.
- 37:06It saves a ton of time, especially when you have little
- 37:09kids that are hungry with you. You want to make sure that you
- 37:14have that covered. So mobile order is that special
- 37:19feature at the quick service restaurants that will allow you
- 37:22to to order that ahead of time and not have to wait in line,
- 37:27which is a nice perk of that. And again, that's quick service
- 37:31locations. The next M that we have is
- 37:35moderate resort. So we talked earlier about
- 37:38deluxe resorts. Moderate resorts are the mid
- 37:41level of your resorts at Walt Disney World.
- 37:44They're going to be middle of the line when it comes to the
- 37:49amenities that they have and middle of the line when it comes
- 37:52to their price point. Generally speaking, you're going
- 37:55to find these in the three to 500 range, generally closer to
- 38:02the threes, sometimes twos depending on deals and things
- 38:07that Disney is offering, but you will find those at Walt Disney
- 38:11World. Now, it is worth mentioning that
- 38:13Disneyland does not have any moderate resorts that are
- 38:18considered Disneyland property. Disneyland has a lot of partner
- 38:24resorts and partner hotels around it, but there are no
- 38:27official Disneyland resorts that are considered the the moderate
- 38:31range. They're all in that deluxe range
- 38:33that we talked about earlier. So the mid level is called
- 38:37moderate resorts for Disney World.
- 38:40A few more Ms. to get through the next one in our M list is
- 38:45the monorail. This one I feel like is probably
- 38:48known by most people that have visited the park or want to
- 38:52visit the park. And the monorail is the Disney
- 38:56transportation option that you see.
- 38:58It's, it's one of the biggest iconic transportation modes at
- 39:03the Disney parks and it links together Magic Kingdom, Epcot
- 39:09and the TTC, which is another one of those abbreviations that
- 39:14we will get to and I'll go over it again later, but the TTC is
- 39:18the transportation and ticket center.
- 39:20So the monorail is linking that with Magic Kingdom and Epcot and
- 39:26it is a really fun way to get around property.
- 39:29A lot of people will purposefully make part of their
- 39:33trip just a ride on the monorail because it is such a fun way to
- 39:37get around. You're up above the lines of
- 39:40cars waiting to get in and out of the parks and you go a little
- 39:45quicker. You have to worry about
- 39:46stoplights as much, but it's definitely a super fun way to
- 39:50travel to those select locations around the parks.
- 39:54And our final M for our terminology here in the Disney
- 39:59speaking the Disney Parks language is Mouse keeping.
- 40:04Mousekeeping is a super fun term used at Disney to refer to the
- 40:10housekeeping services at the Disney resorts.
- 40:15So to make it a little play on words and a little more fun,
- 40:19instead of just calling it housekeeping, they like to
- 40:23switch it up and call it mousekeeping.
- 40:24So you will hear it referred to as that around the Disney
- 40:28resorts. Just a fun little term to keep
- 40:30in mind. So that way you know what people
- 40:32are talking about. OK, moving on to our P terms
- 40:37here in our alphabet of different terminologies for
- 40:40speaking the Disney parks language.
- 40:42We talked a little bit about tickets earlier.
- 40:45So let's talk about another ticket option and that is the
- 40:47park hopper ticket option. So we talked about base tickets
- 40:52earlier being one park per day. So your park hopper option is
- 40:57exactly what it sounds like it is.
- 40:59It's your Disney ticket that allows you to visit more than
- 41:02one park per day. It is going to be a higher cost
- 41:05because you do have that option to to hop between the parks and
- 41:10visit multiple or all of the parks in one day if you choose
- 41:13to. But that is what you will hear
- 41:16and what you will see on the Disney website when you're going
- 41:18to to book your package or price your vacation is that park
- 41:24hopper gives you the ability to go to more than one park per
- 41:27day. Then just a side note, all of
- 41:30these Disney tickets will allow you in and out access.
- 41:33So if you have a base ticket and you're visiting Epcot for the
- 41:36day, you have in and out privileges for Epcot.
- 41:39And if you've got a park hopper, you've got in and out privileges
- 41:42for any of the parks that you visit throughout that day.
- 41:44That's automatically included. Let's see, we've got another one
- 41:50more P option and that is the term pre show.
- 41:53You will hear this when people are referring to different
- 41:57sections and aspects of different attractions.
- 42:01And the pre show is part of the attraction that takes place
- 42:04before the attraction itself. But it often is very imperative
- 42:09for setting up the story. So a lot of the newer
- 42:13attractions that have been put up in the Disney parks recently
- 42:18have those pre shows. Something like Rise of the
- 42:22Resistance has several pre shows.
- 42:25Guardians of the Galaxy, Cosmic Rewinds at Epcot has a has a
- 42:29couple pre shows. So it's those rooms that you go
- 42:32into before you actually experience the full attraction
- 42:37that helps to set up the story. That's what the pre show is.
- 42:42Just a brief note on the word cue because this is something
- 42:46that you will hear in Disney terminology that just just
- 42:50wanted to mention. And a cue is simply just another
- 42:53term for the line that you wait in for an attraction or for food
- 42:57or to get on transportation. Any line that you wait and you
- 43:01will often hear called a cue when it comes to most theme
- 43:05parks, but also obviously Disney parks as well.
- 43:09Moving on to R, our first R term is rider switch or rider swap.
- 43:16You will hear both of those terms used and that is referring
- 43:20to a feature available at many attractions that allows adult
- 43:24guests to take turns waiting for with a younger guest that is
- 43:30unable or unwilling to experience a ride while the
- 43:34other adult rides. So it's basically the option
- 43:37that you have if you are two adults and you are one and you
- 43:42have one kiddo, but you still want to go on something that
- 43:44maybe the kiddo either isn't old enough, isn't tall enough,
- 43:47doesn't want to ride on. You still have the option to use
- 43:52rider switch or rider swap. And the way that you do that is
- 43:55you just go and see the cast member at the beginning of the
- 43:59queue, which we just talked about, and they will be able to
- 44:02explain to you what you need to do, set it up for you so that
- 44:06one adult can go wait in line and ride while the other adult
- 44:09stays with your kiddo. And then once the first adult is
- 44:12done riding, you will swap or switch your riders and the
- 44:17second rider will get to go through the Lightning Lane line,
- 44:21which we'll talk about Lightning Lanes here in a little bit.
- 44:26So that is that process. And that works for any ride that
- 44:30has a height requirement is going to have rider switch or
- 44:33rider swap or anything that may be a little spooky or scary for
- 44:39kids. So something like a Haunted
- 44:42Mansion is going to have that option for you or something
- 44:46that's dark has got some drops. You know you you will know
- 44:50whether or not your kiddo wants to ride.
- 44:52And if your kiddo is saying absolutely not and you really
- 44:54want to ride it, go and talk to the cast member that is at the
- 44:58beginning of that queue to just see if rider swap is available
- 45:02and see if they can help you set that up.
- 45:03So that is a really great option that Disney has.
- 45:06And most theme parks honestly have some sort of an option like
- 45:09that for kiddos that don't want to ride or aren't big enough to
- 45:13ride some of the E ticket attractions.
- 45:15You see one of these terms just they keep circling back as I'm
- 45:20defining all of these for you. So that is a really important
- 45:23one if you're going with little kids that may be a little
- 45:27apprehensive about some of the rides are other are term is rope
- 45:33drop. And if you heard our last
- 45:35episode of Mom St. USA, we talked a lot about rope
- 45:39drop and rope drop just refers to the time that guests can
- 45:43begin riding rides at the park. So that is basically just park
- 45:48open time. The term comes from the fact
- 45:51that in some places they still do, but in all the places they
- 45:54used to have the cast members physically drop ropes that were
- 45:57keeping the guests back and away from the park.
- 46:02And the rope drop just signified that the park was open and that
- 46:05they were available. You know, the rides were
- 46:07available for them to go and experience.
- 46:10So if you want more advice and tips on rope drop, go back in
- 46:15episode because that is where you will find the information on
- 46:18that. OK, we're getting towards the
- 46:22end of our terms list, then we're going to go through some
- 46:24abbreviations kind of in rapid fire succession here.
- 46:28But let's move into a couple S terms.
- 46:31We talked about MCO being the Orlando airport earlier.
- 46:35The other airport in the greater Orlando area is the Sanford
- 46:41International Airport. It is a much smaller airport
- 46:45that is located northeast of Orlando.
- 46:48It's quite a bit further out then MCO is, but a lot of people
- 46:52like to fly in there. Some of the more budget friendly
- 46:57airlines fly into Sanford, but do keep in mind that it is quite
- 47:02a bit further out. So if you're using
- 47:03transportation, it's probably going to cost you a little bit
- 47:06more to get to Disney property from there.
- 47:09SFB is the abbreviation for the Sanford International Airport
- 47:14when you're looking up airports and looking at flights.
- 47:16So just another option if you're looking to go into that airport,
- 47:22another S option is a transportation option, which is
- 47:26the sky liner. So we talked about the monorail
- 47:29being kind of the OG fun way to travel across property.
- 47:33Well then the sky liner would be the brand new way to travel
- 47:38across Disney property. It is a gondola style Disney
- 47:42transportation and it runs between Top Century and Art of
- 47:49Animation is 1 end and then it will make a stop at the
- 47:53Caribbean Beach Resort, the Riviera Resort.
- 47:56It'll also take you to Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
- 47:59So those are the places that you can access with the sky liner.
- 48:05It is free and available for anyone on Disney property to
- 48:08use. It is a very fun way to get from
- 48:12place to place. I would caution that if you do
- 48:17not enjoy heights, probably not a great option.
- 48:21And I would also caution against riding it if you think it's
- 48:25going to be very windy or stormy.
- 48:27They will shut it down if it's not safe for guests to ride.
- 48:31And we'll provide some extra buses and things like that, but
- 48:34just keep that in mind if you're looking at sky liner options, A
- 48:37lot of people really enjoy staying at Pop Century and Art
- 48:41of Animation because they are on that sky liner route and it
- 48:44helps them be able to navigate getting to the parks more
- 48:48easily. So that is the sky liner.
- 48:50If you hear that term as you're looking to to plan your Disney
- 48:55trip. And just like I mentioned with
- 48:57the monorail, a lot of people will kind of make it part of
- 49:00their trip to, to take the sky liner.
- 49:04So if they're visiting Epcot or Hollywood Studios and they want
- 49:07to sky liner over, you know, to grab something different to eat,
- 49:11I like to, when I'm at Hollywood Studios, I like to take the sky
- 49:14liner over to the Riviera. They've got some really great
- 49:17quick service food over there. So I like to do that.
- 49:21But there's lots of lots of people will will include that in
- 49:25their planning because it's a fun way to just get from place
- 49:27to place that's different than the norm, which is always fun
- 49:31when you're at Disney. One more S term is the term
- 49:35standby. So you will hear this when
- 49:38people are talking about queues. We talked about queues earlier
- 49:42that the standby queue is just simply the regular line at an
- 49:46attraction. So no extra passes or skipping
- 49:50the line. That is your standby queue.
- 49:53And the standby time is what you will see listed on your Disney
- 49:57app. So if you're looking at wait
- 49:58times, that is a, that is the standby line that you are seeing
- 50:04when it comes to those terms. Let's see, we're moving into
- 50:10tease now. We talked about quick service.
- 50:13Just want to again remind you that table service is your
- 50:16dining experience where you're seated at a table and served by
- 50:19a waiter. So we talked about that earlier
- 50:22when it came to the Disney Dining Plan.
- 50:24So that is RT. Another fun term that you might
- 50:28hear when you are visiting the parks, specifically Magic
- 50:34Kingdom, is the term Utilidors. This may or may not be something
- 50:38that you come across as you are doing your research for your
- 50:41Disney trip, but the utilidors are the system of tunnels that
- 50:45are underneath Magic Kingdom that allow cast members easy
- 50:50access to get across the park and are used for other park
- 50:54operations such as trash removal.
- 50:57So when Magic Kingdom was built, the ground level was built as
- 51:02these utilidors to help be able to navigate the parks
- 51:07underground. It's really at ground level that
- 51:10they then built Magic Kingdom up on top of it.
- 51:12But that is what the utilidors are for.
- 51:15Those are considered backstage areas for cast members to to
- 51:20utilize. Again, all these terms are
- 51:22coming back full circle that we talked about earlier.
- 51:25So that's again just a fun term you may or may not come across
- 51:29on your on your research for your Disney trip.
- 51:34Just a few more here to round out the terminology for our
- 51:38Disney Parks language value resorts.
- 51:41So we talked about deluxe, we talked about moderate value
- 51:44resort is your lowest level of Walt Disney World resorts.
- 51:50So that is going to be the one that is most affordable at the
- 51:55bottom level. It does have the least amount of
- 51:59amenities when you're comparing it to the other ones, but those
- 52:03are going to be your your value level resort.
- 52:07So All Stars, I talked just not that long ago about the sky
- 52:11liner options of Pop Century and Art of Animation.
- 52:15Those are all value resorts that you can find at Disney World.
- 52:18And again, like I mentioned, Disneyland does not have value
- 52:21resorts that are officially Disney resorts.
- 52:23All of their resorts are that deluxe level and the last term
- 52:29that I have on my terminology list.
- 52:31Again, not a complete comprehensive list, just kind of
- 52:34your basic encyclopedia to get by, and that is Virtual Cue.
- 52:40Now, this is a system that is frequently used by the parks
- 52:44where you must join the queue on your app, whether it's Disney
- 52:48World or Disneyland, and wait for your boarding group to be
- 52:52called. Once your group is called, then
- 52:54you may join the queue. This is something that has been
- 52:57used and likely will be used in the future for Disney World new
- 53:02opening attractions. It was used for a brief time for
- 53:06Rise of the Resistance. It's been used for Tron,
- 53:09Guardians of the Galaxy, Cosmic Rewind, and it's been used for
- 53:14Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Over in Disneyland, they've had
- 53:18a couple different virtual queues as well, and they
- 53:20currently have the only virtual queue that is in use.
- 53:24So Disney World right now does not have any virtual queues that
- 53:27are being utilized currently, but Disneyland has one that is
- 53:31used for their World of Color show at Disney's California
- 53:35Adventure Park. So that is one that you can join
- 53:38at noon and it will give you a designated location that you'll
- 53:44be able to view the show in. So that is the only virtual
- 53:47queue at the moment that I'm recording this.
- 53:50Now that could change and I do anticipate that will change
- 53:53going forward with some of the new attractions that are going
- 53:56to be opening at the parks that we've been hearing about, things
- 53:59that they talked about at the most recent D23 conference, you
- 54:04know, hearing about some of the new attractions.
- 54:08A lot of them will likely at least initially open up with a
- 54:12virtual queue. It may not last long.
- 54:15Disneyland, when they opened their version of Mickey and
- 54:19Minnie's Runaway Railway had a virtual queue, but it didn't
- 54:21last long because they found that they didn't need it.
- 54:24So it really just depends on the attraction.
- 54:27It depends on the the location. It depends on kind of what else
- 54:33is going on. And thank you, Lem live laugh.
- 54:37Lem in our live chat here is saying they also use virtual
- 54:40queues for special events. So special event merch like run
- 54:44Disney or may the fourth things like that.
- 54:47And there is a virtual queue for Santa.
- 54:49That is very true. So that those are not in the
- 54:53immediate being used. We're getting close to May, the
- 54:55fourth year as I'm recording this.
- 54:56So there will likely be a merchandise virtual queue for
- 55:00that. But as far as attractions go at
- 55:03Disney World, there are not currently any virtual queues
- 55:06being used. So thank you, Lem, for that.
- 55:08Note that is very true. OK, I think we made it to the
- 55:12end of our terminology little encyclopedia.
- 55:16There was a lot that I threw at you.
- 55:18Hopefully you found it helpful. But the second-half of this
- 55:22episode here, I am going to run down just some abbreviations
- 55:26that you may come across because there are a lot of them.
- 55:30For whatever reason, Disney people, Disney adults, Disney
- 55:36frequenters like to abbreviate things.
- 55:39Don't know why, don't know where it started, but we're going to
- 55:43run through some abbreviations. Now.
- 55:45A lot of these are going to be things that are fairly
- 55:48self-explanatory or we'll just need a brief explanation.
- 55:52Again, we're going in ABC order because that's how my Type A
- 55:56brain works. So 1st on my list of
- 55:59abbreviations is ADR and that stands for Advanced Dining
- 56:03Reservations. Those are the reservations that
- 56:07you make at your table service restaurants before your trip.
- 56:11Those open 60 days before your trip and you can make them on
- 56:15the Disney website or on your app depending.
- 56:19But ADR is the term that you will see and the abbreviation
- 56:22that you will see when you're referring to that.
- 56:25Next on my list is just the abbreviation AK or you'll
- 56:30sometimes see DAK or DAC depending on who you're talking
- 56:34to. And that is just, all of those
- 56:36are simply just abbreviations for Animal Kingdom.
- 56:39So Disney's Animal Kingdom is where you get the DAK DAC from.
- 56:44So it's just abbreviations for that park.
- 56:46So if you hear that, that's what people are talking about and
- 56:49kind of hand in hand with that is you will see and hear people
- 56:53mention AKL, which is the Animal Kingdom lodge that is a deluxe
- 56:58resort that is very close to the Animal Kingdom park.
- 57:02So they will abbreviate that AKL just like they'll abbreviate AK
- 57:06for Animal Kingdom. Another resort abbreviation that
- 57:10you may hear is AOA. We've actually already talked
- 57:13about this resort earlier when we were talking about the sky
- 57:15liner and AOA is the Art of Animation Resort that is a value
- 57:21resort at the end of the sky liner ride or sky liner line
- 57:25that we talked about a little bit ago.
- 57:28Something else that you will hear in the abbreviation section
- 57:34of the speaking the Disney Parks language is AP and that is just
- 57:39an annual pass holder or an annual pass for the Disney
- 57:42Parks. You will also hear Magic Key for
- 57:45Disneyland, but for Disney World you will always hear and see it
- 57:48called AP or you will hear about annual pass holders being called
- 57:53a PS. Another one that you will hear
- 57:56for these abbreviations is BBB which stands for the Bippity
- 58:01Boppity Boutique. That is a very common one that I
- 58:04see a lot on like Facebook groups and people asking about
- 58:07reservations for this. The Bippity Boppity Boutique is
- 58:11a special opportunity that you can book for your kiddo to be
- 58:16transformed by one of the fairy godmothers into a Princess.
- 58:21They will do hair and makeup and make them looking super special
- 58:26for their park day. It is a very difficult
- 58:29reservation to get. It opens 60 days out at midnight
- 58:33so definitely a hard 1 to get. But that is what you will see
- 58:37when people refer to the BBB is the Bippity Boppity Boutique,
- 58:42another one in our B section. And just kind of a general note
- 58:47for DVC resorts, which we talked about DVC earlier is you will
- 58:53see things like BCV or BWV and those will stand for the villa
- 59:00rooms. So like BCV would be beach Club
- 59:03Villa. So if you see those terms when
- 59:06people are talking about resorts, chances are good
- 59:09they're talking about the villas, which are typically the
- 59:12DVC resort, some of the DVC room and resort options that you
- 59:18have. Another B abbreviation is BOG,
- 59:24which is for Be Our Guest. That is a table service
- 59:30restaurant located in Magic Kingdom that you get to dine in
- 59:35Beast's Castle. So if you see people referring
- 59:38to BOG, that is Be Our Guest restaurant.
- 59:42This next one is an attraction that actually has a few
- 59:46different versions of an abbreviation, and that is for
- 59:51the Big Thunder Mountain attraction.
- 59:54So you will see BTM just for Big Thunder Mountain, you will see
- 59:59BTMR for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, or you will sometimes
- 1:00:03see people. Do 2 Rs at the end.
- 1:00:06So BTMRR for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which is the
- 1:00:11official full name of that attraction.
- 1:00:13Most of the time you're just going to see BTM, which stands
- 1:00:17for Big Thunder Mountain. It is a roller coaster
- 1:00:19attraction at Magic Kingdom but is currently under refurb as we
- 1:00:23are recording this for the the entirety of the year 2025 plated
- 1:00:28to open back again sometime 2026.
- 1:00:30But if you see people using the abbreviation BTM, that is Big
- 1:00:34Thunder Mountain. Another resort that you will
- 1:00:38frequently see abbreviated is the Caribbean Beach Resort and
- 1:00:42you'll see CBR for that one. So that is a really popular one
- 1:00:46that a lot of people will use when talking about it.
- 1:00:49Just to abbreviate that long resort name, they use CBR in
- 1:00:53place of Caribbean Beach Resort. One that we talked about
- 1:00:56earlier, but just to again note is that you will sometimes see
- 1:01:01cast members just referred to as CMS. So people will abbreviate
- 1:01:05Cast Member to just the 2 letters and refer to the workers
- 1:01:09as that. Another attraction that you
- 1:01:12might see is COP which stands for A Carousel of Progress.
- 1:01:16That is a theater attraction in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom is
- 1:01:22one of the OG original attractions created by Walt.
- 1:01:27So you will see people refer to A Carousel of Progress as COP.
- 1:01:34The last C on our list is CRT which is Cinderella's Royal
- 1:01:40Table. Cinderella's Royal Table is the
- 1:01:44table service restaurant inside of Cinderella Castle at Magic
- 1:01:49Kingdom. That is where you get to meet
- 1:01:52Cinderella and dine inside of the castle, which is a very
- 1:01:56special and quite pricey experience.
- 1:02:00But if you see people referring to CRT, that is Cinderella's
- 1:02:04Royal Table. Moving on to our next letter of
- 1:02:08the alphabet, you will see often times the abbreviation for
- 1:02:14Disney's California Adventure Park, which is one of the two
- 1:02:19parks out in Disneyland abbreviated to DCA.
- 1:02:23So 9 times out of 10, when you are talking to somebody about
- 1:02:27Disneyland, they're going to talk about Disneyland and DCA.
- 1:02:30So DCA is Disney's California Adventure.
- 1:02:34We already talked about the Disney Dining Plan.
- 1:02:37Disney Dining Plan can sometimes be abbreviated as DDP,
- 1:02:41especially if you're looking at working with like travel agents
- 1:02:45and things like that. You will see a lot of that when
- 1:02:48it comes to package deals and bookings and things like that.
- 1:02:53Another Disney, a couple other Disneyland specific ones.
- 1:02:57You will sometimes see people refer to the Disneyland Hotel as
- 1:03:02DLH, not as frequent as some of the other abbreviations that we
- 1:03:06see for resorts, but that one is out there.
- 1:03:10You will also sometimes see people abbreviate the
- 1:03:13Disneyland, the park just as DL or DLR for Disneyland Resort.
- 1:03:20And the last one on that list, we've on the, the D part of our
- 1:03:24list is DVC, which is that Disney Vacation Club that we
- 1:03:28talked about earlier in our terminology a couple E terms
- 1:03:32here for you. You will frequently see ECV used
- 1:03:38in the parks and in conversation about the parks.
- 1:03:44So ECV is basically those motorized scooters or
- 1:03:49wheelchairs, you'll hear them referred to as both.
- 1:03:53So the ECV actually stands for, and I didn't know this before I
- 1:03:56looked it up, stand for the electric convenience vehicle.
- 1:04:01That's what ECV stands for. So now you know, now you have
- 1:04:06learned something new. If you're like me and didn't
- 1:04:08know what it stood for but knew what an ECV was, now you know
- 1:04:11what it stands for. So Ecvs are those vehicles that
- 1:04:14you will see in the parks. Our other E abbreviation is EMH
- 1:04:20or EMM and those stand for extra magic hours or early morning
- 1:04:25magic. You'll see those kind of used
- 1:04:27interchangeably. Extra Magic Hours is actually a
- 1:04:30term that doesn't currently exist at Disney because it is
- 1:04:35the term that was used pre pandemic for the extra park time
- 1:04:40that the resort guests got at the parks.
- 1:04:44They now call it early morning magic, so it's a little bit
- 1:04:49different, but it still means the same thing.
- 1:04:51So most people will use those interchangeably.
- 1:04:55So you hear EMH more frequently because that's the term that
- 1:04:58most people are used to using. But EMM for early morning magic
- 1:05:04is also a term in that same kind of umbrella.
- 1:05:07And again, that just stands for resort guests at that stay on
- 1:05:12Disney property get extra time in the morning to have the parks
- 1:05:16to themselves before the non resort guests and locals get to
- 1:05:20enter the park. So that's what that one means.
- 1:05:24A couple terms that begin with F as we work through our
- 1:05:27alphabetical list of abbreviations when we're
- 1:05:30speaking the Disney park language.
- 1:05:33And that is what I lovingly refer to as folk or FOLK or
- 1:05:39FOTLK, which just stands for Festival of The Lion King.
- 1:05:44I've been calling it folk for a really long time because of
- 1:05:47Stevie and Stevie being a cast member.
- 1:05:49That was something that she picked up when she worked at the
- 1:05:52parks and passed on to me. And that one is a lot shorter.
- 1:05:55So I appreciate the abbreviation of folk for Festival of The Lion
- 1:06:00King. And that is a show over at
- 1:06:02Disney's Animal Kingdom or DAC, should I say, as we talked about
- 1:06:06earlier. But folk is one of the shows
- 1:06:09that are that is performed daily over at Animal Kingdom.
- 1:06:14And it is a wonderful show. There's lots of very specialized
- 1:06:19performers that are in that show, some acrobatics, some fire
- 1:06:25spinning, there's lots of fun stuff in that show.
- 1:06:27So definitely a great one. And while we're talking about
- 1:06:31the offerings over at DAC, another abbreviation that exists
- 1:06:37over there is FOP and that is for Flight of Passage, which is
- 1:06:42one of the avatar rides over at Animal Kingdom.
- 1:06:46So you'll often see that abbreviated as FOP for Flight of
- 1:06:51Passage. In that same regards, another
- 1:06:54attraction that you will see abbreviated frequently is the
- 1:06:58Guardians of the Galaxy, and that's just GOTG.
- 1:07:01So if you want to abbreviate Guardians of the Galaxy, some
- 1:07:05people just call it Guardians. But if you're looking for the
- 1:07:07kind of acronym abbreviation, GOTG is what you'll see for that
- 1:07:12one. A couple other in our H section
- 1:07:16here. Again, this is not a
- 1:07:17comprehensive list, just trying to give you the basics and the
- 1:07:20most important ones, but it's not a total list of every single
- 1:07:25one that you may run into. But let's move on to our HS.
- 1:07:29We have H EA, which stands for Happily Ever after.
- 1:07:32Happily ever after is the fireworks show currently running
- 1:07:35at Magic Kingdom. So if you see people talking
- 1:07:39about going to see H EA or referring to H EA is at 8 O
- 1:07:43clock tonight, that's what they're talking about.
- 1:07:46Is that happily Ever after fireworks show at the castle at
- 1:07:49Magic Kingdom? Another attraction that you will
- 1:07:52see abbreviated often is the Haunted Mansion.
- 1:07:56Most people will just, you know, abbreviate it to HM.
- 1:07:59That one, You know, I don't know whether or not that actually
- 1:08:02needs the the abbreviation. It's not that long of a name,
- 1:08:05but most people who refer to it just as HM for Haunted Mansion,
- 1:08:10another park that has abbreviations.
- 1:08:13We talked about DAC earlier for Disney's Animal Kingdom, but
- 1:08:18Hollywood Studios will often be referred to as HS or just
- 1:08:21Studios. It can get a little tricky if
- 1:08:25people are referring to it just as studios because there is also
- 1:08:29a Universal park called Universal Studios.
- 1:08:33So you have to kind of be aware of that as you're, if you're
- 1:08:37seeing someone refer to it just as studios.
- 1:08:39But HS is typically the abbreviation that you'll see
- 1:08:42when people are writing it out, you know, if they're asking for
- 1:08:45advice or looking at itineraries and, and those types of things.
- 1:08:49You'll see that HS, our last H is HOP, which stands for Hall of
- 1:08:54presidents. That is an attraction at Magic
- 1:08:59Kingdom that is in it's in the list of the some of the original
- 1:09:06attractions that were created for the parks.
- 1:09:09It is a history of different presidents.
- 1:09:12Lots of audio animatronics in there.
- 1:09:14We talked about those earlier, but HOP stands for Hall of
- 1:09:18Presidents. Moving on, to our eyes, this one
- 1:09:22is a little more niche that not a lot of people may or may not
- 1:09:29use, and that is the abbreviation for the
- 1:09:32International Festival of the Arts.
- 1:09:35You will hear people call it I farts or you will hear people
- 1:09:39people call it just simply farts.
- 1:09:42Don't know where that abbreviation came from.
- 1:09:43I mean, you can see where that abbreviation came from.
- 1:09:46But that is one of the festivals over at Epcot.
- 1:09:51It runs typically January, February at the beginning of the
- 1:09:55year. Lots of really great artwork.
- 1:09:57It's a super fun festival with a very strange acronym.
- 1:10:01So if you hear that or see that, now you know what they're
- 1:10:05talking about. I felt like I had to include
- 1:10:08that one because it's a very strange abbreviation and a lot
- 1:10:13of people, I feel like, get confused by it.
- 1:10:15So that is what they are talking about.
- 1:10:18If you hear someone refer to I Farts International Festival of
- 1:10:23the Arts over at Epcot, a couple acronyms that are near and dear
- 1:10:29to my heart. Let's talk about Lightning Lane
- 1:10:32acronyms. And again, we're not talking
- 1:10:34about Lightning Lanes in this. I know that's always a hot topic
- 1:10:37and that you guys always want to hear more.
- 1:10:38I do have a Lightning Lane episode planned coming up here
- 1:10:42soon, but you will often see these abbreviations for
- 1:10:45Lightning Lane. You will see just simply LL for
- 1:10:48Lightning Lane. If you're talking about, you
- 1:10:50know, wanting to purchase a lightning lane, getting a
- 1:10:52lightning lane, having a Lightning lane, those are the
- 1:10:54passes that help you wait in a shorter line, similar to the
- 1:10:59Fastpass system that you are used to from the past or Genie
- 1:11:03Plus that you're used to from the past.
- 1:11:04Lightning lane is your terminology that you're using
- 1:11:06now. You will also see LLMP, which
- 1:11:10stands for Lightning lane multi Pass.
- 1:11:13Multi Pass is the Lightning lane that gives you access to like
- 1:11:1790% of the rides throughout the parks and it is called that at
- 1:11:21Disney World and Disneyland. So both of them have Lightning
- 1:11:25Lanes. Both of them have LLMP, which is
- 1:11:28the Lightning Lane multi Pass. Both of them also have the
- 1:11:31Lightning Lane single Pass or LLSP if you're abbreviating.
- 1:11:36So the single pass are those E ticket attractions that you do
- 1:11:40have to pay more for to purchase that single pass for those.
- 1:11:44So if you see those terminologies with the LL in
- 1:11:48front of it, those are Lightning Lane ones that they're talking
- 1:11:50about. The last Lightning Lane one that
- 1:11:53I have is the Lightning Lane Premier Pass, which you guessed
- 1:11:57it, LLPP. And that Premier Pass is the
- 1:12:01newest pass that they just released just a few months ago
- 1:12:06that gives you access to every attraction in the park for one
- 1:12:11ride and you don't have to pick times.
- 1:12:13So you can redeem that at any time throughout the parks
- 1:12:16operating hours and that is that premiere pass option.
- 1:12:20So LLPP or sometimes just premiere pass.
- 1:12:23Again, all of these go through kind of several different
- 1:12:26iterations of abbreviations. Some people will drop the
- 1:12:30lightning Lane altogether and just call them single pass and
- 1:12:33multi pass. I tend to do that.
- 1:12:36I don't know why, it just makes more sense to my brain that way,
- 1:12:38I guess. But so Lightning lane multi
- 1:12:41pass, Lightning lane single pass, and Lightning Lane premier
- 1:12:44pass are all under that Lightning Lane umbrella.
- 1:12:47Whether or not they're abbreviated in the way you
- 1:12:50anticipate, that's just a good thing to know for all of those.
- 1:12:54My other L1 is back to attractions and that is LWTL,
- 1:13:01which is living with the land. That is a very commonly
- 1:13:05abbreviated attraction over at Epcot in the Land Pavilion next
- 1:13:10to Soren. It is the one that takes you
- 1:13:12through all of the greenhouses and shows you all of the
- 1:13:15different ways that Epcot is growing food and helping to
- 1:13:21supply some of their restaurants with vegetables and all sorts of
- 1:13:25other things in there. We talked about Living with the
- 1:13:28Land on one of our most recent episodes where we talked about
- 1:13:30the behind the scenes tour. So if you heard that episode on
- 1:13:34specialty Tours, that was the attraction that we were talking
- 1:13:36about with Living with the Land. LWTL is that one.
- 1:13:42Let's hit our Ms. now in our different speaking the Disney
- 1:13:46park language abbreviations that we're talking about.
- 1:13:50So for the M's, we talked about magic bands earlier in our
- 1:13:54terminology, you will see them abbreviated a couple different
- 1:13:57ways. You will see just MB.
- 1:13:59You will see MB with the plus sign for Magic band plus, and
- 1:14:03you will just see M band also as an abbreviation.
- 1:14:06So all of those 3 can be utilized for magic Bands, which
- 1:14:11we talked about earlier as being those extra kind of bracelet
- 1:14:15options for your park entry and ticket and resort entry if you
- 1:14:19choose to use them. So all of those abbreviations
- 1:14:22you'll see earlier. We also talked about the My
- 1:14:25Disney Experience app being your Walt Disney World app that you
- 1:14:29need, and you will almost always see that abbreviated as MDE.
- 1:14:35So if somebody's talking about the app, talking about something
- 1:14:39to find or do on the app, you're going to see it abbreviated as
- 1:14:43MDE. Another easy M to figure out is
- 1:14:48MK, which is Magic Kingdom. So pretty much all of the parks
- 1:14:53other than Epcot, which is an abbreviation in itself, which I
- 1:14:57guess I didn't talk about, but I can talk about here in a moment.
- 1:15:01But the all of the parks have some sort of an abbreviation to
- 1:15:04them just for ease of conversation, I guess, who
- 1:15:08knows, right? So MK is Magic Kingdom, if you
- 1:15:11see that, that's what they're talking about.
- 1:15:14And I will go back to ease here momentarily because I did miss
- 1:15:17Epcot on my list because I forget sometimes that it's an
- 1:15:20abbreviation, but the the entire park name is an acronym.
- 1:15:25So Epcot stands for the Experimental Prototype Community
- 1:15:28of Tomorrow, and that is where the Epcot name came from that
- 1:15:34Walt Disney gave it. So that just refers to the park.
- 1:15:37It refers to Walt's original idea of what he wanted Epcot to
- 1:15:41be. We know that it didn't quite end
- 1:15:45up the way he wanted. Whether it be feasible or not in
- 1:15:48today's society to do what he wanted to do, who knows, But
- 1:15:52that is what Epcot stands for. So now you know, in case you
- 1:15:56were wondering. OK, back to our M's, a couple
- 1:16:00more M's to talk about the next M is one of my favorite
- 1:16:04attractions and that is the MMRR, which stands for Mickey
- 1:16:08and Minnie's Runaway Railway. So MMRR is the abbreviation for
- 1:16:12that. That is an attraction at
- 1:16:14Hollywood Studios inside their replica Chinese Theatre that
- 1:16:17they have there. It is Mickey's first attraction
- 1:16:22that we have and that we got. It opened in 2020 right before
- 1:16:27the pandemic kind of had everything closed down.
- 1:16:31But you will see that one abbreviated as MMRR quite
- 1:16:35frequently because it does have such a long name.
- 1:16:38Speaking of long names, the last two M's that I have for this
- 1:16:42list, again, not a complete list, just some of the the the
- 1:16:47abbreviations that I thought maybe would be helpful.
- 1:16:52The next one is MNSSHP. So when you say it out loud, it
- 1:16:58doesn't quite work, but when you type it, it's very helpful.
- 1:17:01So MNSSHP stands for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
- 1:17:08that is the special ticketed event at Halloween time at Magic
- 1:17:12Kingdom that they have. It runs typically August through
- 1:17:17Halloween and again it is a special ticketed event, special
- 1:17:21fireworks, special parade, special character meet and
- 1:17:23greet, special food. But you will very frequently see
- 1:17:28when people are typing things out that are Disney related that
- 1:17:32they abbreviate it that way when people speak it not typically
- 1:17:36abbreviated that way, people will just call it not so scary
- 1:17:39or the Halloween party. But that is what it is when you
- 1:17:43see the MNSSHP. On the flip side, the other big
- 1:17:51event that you will find at Magic Kingdom is the MVMCP,
- 1:17:57which is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.
- 1:18:00So on the Christmas side of things, also an abbreviation.
- 1:18:03Also a very long name for the event.
- 1:18:06Also a special ticketed event with special fireworks, parade
- 1:18:10characters, food, all of that. But yes, Mickey's very Merry
- 1:18:14Christmas party, MVMCP. So those are the abbreviations
- 1:18:20that you will see for both of those parties.
- 1:18:22Again, those ones I feel like make the most sense today
- 1:18:25because those are very long names for those those different
- 1:18:29events that you can go to. OK, we're going to keep on
- 1:18:32moving on. Again, these are just terms and
- 1:18:35acronyms that I feel like are helpful when speaking the Disney
- 1:18:38park language. The next one, we've got a couple
- 1:18:41resorts to talk about. The first one is POFQ, which
- 1:18:48stands for Port Orleans French Quarter.
- 1:18:51So that is a moderate resort on Disney World property.
- 1:18:55And because it does have a longer name, you will see it
- 1:18:58abbreviated POFQA lot. Again, not one that you hear
- 1:19:01people say as an abbreviation, but definitely one that you will
- 1:19:05see people write as an abbreviation.
- 1:19:08Now the next one is one that is often written and spoken and
- 1:19:12it's not really an, a, an acronym, but it is an
- 1:19:16abbreviation. And that is just the Poly.
- 1:19:19So you will hear people talk about Disney's Polynesian
- 1:19:22Resort, which is one of the deluxe resorts on the monorail
- 1:19:25line very close to Magic Kingdom.
- 1:19:28But people will often call the Polynesian Resort Polly.
- 1:19:32So if you hear people talking about I'm going to go to the
- 1:19:34Polly, or I want to go eat at the Polly, or I'm going to go
- 1:19:36visit the Polly, that's what they're talking about is that
- 1:19:39Polynesian resort. The last abbreviation on my P
- 1:19:45list is back to another attraction.
- 1:19:47And again, this one is one that is written but not really
- 1:19:50spoken, and that is POTC, which is Pirates of the Caribbean.
- 1:19:56So if you see that written out, they're talking about the Ride
- 1:20:00Pirates. I also will see just Pirates as
- 1:20:03an abbreviation for that. But POTC is another option that
- 1:20:07you will see again, not really spoken, but definitely written
- 1:20:11for that one. We were talking about dining
- 1:20:15earlier. You will sometimes see the
- 1:20:17abbreviations for quick service and table service as just QS and
- 1:20:22TS. Again, we talked about those
- 1:20:24earlier. So QS is quick service, TS is
- 1:20:28your table service. For that a couple other quite a
- 1:20:33few actually attractions that are on this list here.
- 1:20:38Rock and Roller Coaster, which is a roller coaster attraction
- 1:20:43at Hollywood Studios is often abbreviated as just Rock and or
- 1:20:48RNRC Rock and Roller Coaster. So that is an abbreviation for
- 1:20:53that Rise of the Resistance, again, a Star Wars ride over at
- 1:20:58Hollywood Studios, people will call it Ryze or ROR for Rise of
- 1:21:03the Resistance. So both of those abbreviations
- 1:21:05you will see for Ryze, 7 Dwarves, Mine Train, a roller
- 1:21:10coaster over at Magic Kingdom will often be abbreviated SDMT
- 1:21:16or the #7 DMT. So you will see both of those as
- 1:21:22an option for Seven Dwarves Mine Train.
- 1:21:25Some people will just call it 7 dwarves.
- 1:21:27So again, lots of different variations.
- 1:21:29These are just kind of the most common options for those
- 1:21:33abbreviations for these attractions.
- 1:21:35Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios is another one that you
- 1:21:39will see TOT or TOT. That is one that you will hear
- 1:21:44frequently for Tower of Terror. And the last attraction on this
- 1:21:49little section is Toy Story Mania or Toy Story Midway Mania
- 1:21:53if you're out in Disneyland and you will see that just as TSM or
- 1:21:58TSMM out in Disneyland, that one is one that is spoken more than
- 1:22:04the other ones. So TSM, Toy Story Mania, that is
- 1:22:07what they're referring to, which is the arcade style attraction
- 1:22:12at Hollywood Studios. If you're talking about TSM or
- 1:22:17Toy Story Mania, or it is a similar attraction out in
- 1:22:22Disney's California Adventure. OK, just a few more.
- 1:22:26We're almost to the end. Thanks for hanging in.
- 1:22:28I know this has been fast and furious, but hopefully these
- 1:22:31abbreviations are helpful for you for planning your next
- 1:22:34upcoming trip. We talked a little bit earlier
- 1:22:37about the TTC. When I was talking about the
- 1:22:40monorail, I mentioned that the TTC is the transportation and
- 1:22:45ticket center. So this exists because when Walt
- 1:22:50was drawing up the plans for Magic Kingdom, he did not want
- 1:22:55the parking to be immediately at the gate.
- 1:22:58He wanted you to kind of park out of sight and really be
- 1:23:02immersed as you approached the gate and the train station for
- 1:23:06Magic Kingdom. So thus the Transportation and
- 1:23:09Ticket Center was created. This is the parking lot for
- 1:23:14Magic Kingdom and the main hub for the Monorails.
- 1:23:22You can also catch the ferry boat here to go over to Magic
- 1:23:24Kingdom, but that is what this serves as.
- 1:23:28So anytime somebody is talking about the TTC, they're talking
- 1:23:32about the transportation and Ticket Center for that.
- 1:23:37Another sort of transportation related one, but the Walt Disney
- 1:23:41World Railroad inside of Magic Kingdom will often be
- 1:23:46abbreviated as WDWRR when people are typing it.
- 1:23:50Again, not really a spoken one. Most people just call it the
- 1:23:54railroad or the train inside of Magic Kingdom, but that takes
- 1:23:58you kind of around the perimeter.
- 1:24:00We've had three different stations, one on Main Street,
- 1:24:03one over by Big Thunder and Frontierland, and one over in
- 1:24:08Fantasyland adjacent to Fantasyland near Dumbo and the
- 1:24:13Barnstormer in the Storybook Circus area.
- 1:24:17But you will see that abbreviated as they are as they
- 1:24:21are writing it in the W as WDWRR for the Walt Disney World
- 1:24:27Railroad. OK, my final abbreviation of my
- 1:24:32not so complete but very thorough list of Disney
- 1:24:35abbreviations when you are speaking the Disney Park
- 1:24:38language is WOD and that is World of Disney.
- 1:24:43I talked about this earlier when I mentioned Disney Springs in
- 1:24:46our terminology section, that World of Disney is the largest
- 1:24:51merchandise store on Walt Disney World property.
- 1:24:54It is at Disney Springs and you will often see it written and
- 1:24:57abbreviated as WOD. Some people do call it WOD, but
- 1:25:03that's not as common as just seeing it abbreviated that way.
- 1:25:05Most people will talk about just World of Disney as the the name
- 1:25:10for that one. So I think that brings us to an
- 1:25:14end of of our list. Oh, Vinny, you're right.
- 1:25:18In our live chat, WDW, that was one that I didn't even mention.
- 1:25:22I didn't even think about that one.
- 1:25:23That one was so obvious. But yes, you will see WDW as the
- 1:25:27abbreviation for Walt Disney World down in Florida.
- 1:25:31That is the park in Orlando. If you are confused about which
- 1:25:34is which, but WDW is the Walt Disney World abbreviation.
- 1:25:38Thank you to my live chat for that one because somehow that
- 1:25:41made it, that didn't make it on my list.
- 1:25:43So thank you. Appreciate that, but overall, I
- 1:25:47hope that all of this is super helpful to you as you are
- 1:25:51thinking about your next trip, planning your first trip, your
- 1:25:54second trip, your third trip, conversing about a Disney trip
- 1:25:57with a travel agent or a friend who maybe is helping you.
