- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. When it comes to Jeffrey Epstein and people
- 0:07Speaker 1: running for the exits, one of the most interesting battles
- 0:11Speaker 1: has always been at J.P. Morgan, where Jess Daly has
- 0:15Speaker 1: said that Jamie Dimon was aware of Jeffrey Epstein and
- 0:19Speaker 1: knew what kind of man Jeffrey Epstein was. Well, J.P.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Morgan and Jamie Dimon, they have a completely different narrative.
- 0:27Speaker 1: And somewhere in between, is the truth. What that truth is, well,
- 0:34Speaker 1: why don't we dive into this article from the Times
- 0:36Speaker 1: and see if we can get closer to it. Headline,
- 0:42Speaker 1: Jess Daly vs. Jamie Dimon, who is telling the truth
- 0:45Speaker 1: about the Epstein warnings. This article was authored by Josie
- 0:51Speaker 1: and Zor. Jess Daly, a former asset manager at J.P. Morgan,
- 0:56Speaker 1: told Congressional Hearing that he informed the bank's chief executive,
- 1:00Speaker 1: Jamie Dimon, on several occasions about criminal investigations into their client,
- 1:05Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein. And look, there's no doubt in my mind
- 1:09Speaker 1: that that happened. Jess Daly wasn't some low-level employee, wasn't
- 1:13Speaker 1: somebody that couldn't reach out to Jamie Dimon whenever he wanted.
- 1:18Speaker 1: So why would anyone think that Jamie Dimon wouldn't have
- 1:20Speaker 1: any idea who Jeffrey Epstein was? Now, look, I'm not
- 1:24Speaker 1: going to sit here and tell you that he knew
- 1:25Speaker 1: what Epstein was doing, like, intimately. But he heard rumors.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I have no doubt about that. And I have no
- 1:33Speaker 1: doubt that the people around him knew exactly what Epstein was.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I mean, look at the jokes that these clowns were
- 1:39Speaker 1: making in those email chains. Talking about the monster that
- 1:44Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein was. So in my opinion, both Jess Daly
- 1:48Speaker 1: and Jamie Dimon knew who and what Jeffrey Epstein was. Now,
- 1:51Speaker 1: the extent of the relationship between Jess Staley and Jeffrey
- 1:54Speaker 1: Epstein was certainly much deeper, at least as we know,
- 1:59Speaker 1: than Epstein and any kind of relationship he might have
- 2:01Speaker 1: had with Jamie Dimon. So all we have to go on, really,
- 2:04Speaker 1: is Jess Staley's word. Meanwhile, with Jess Staley, there's a
- 2:08Speaker 1: mountain of evidence that proves his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein
- 2:12Speaker 1: over the years. Staley agreed to testify in front of
- 2:16Speaker 1: the House Oversight Committee after its chairman, James Comer, requested
- 2:19Speaker 1: his appearance. saying that he believes Staley may have information
- 2:23Speaker 1: that would help the inquiry into the U.S. government's handling
- 2:26Speaker 1: of the Epstein case. Now, if that was really what
- 2:29Speaker 1: Comer was looking for, don't you think he'd be going
- 2:31Speaker 1: absolutely berserk over the fact that everybody's names were redacted
- 2:36Speaker 1: as far as the people who were making decisions? If
- 2:39Speaker 1: we're going to hold the government accountable for missteps, then
- 2:42Speaker 1: we have to know who was making those missteps. It
- 2:44Speaker 1: wasn't the government as an entity. Real people made these decisions.
- 2:49Speaker 1: The question is, Who are these people? Epstein banked with J.P.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Morgan from 1998 until about 2013. During much of that period, Staley, 69,
- 3:02Speaker 1: was the senior executive responsible for the private bank's relationship.
- 3:07Speaker 1: The Times understands that Staley told the committee during testimony
- 3:10Speaker 1: on Thursday that he spoke to Diamond about Epstein on
- 3:13Speaker 1: two occasions, once in 2006 and when Epstein was indicted
- 3:17Speaker 1: in Florida on charges of solicitation of a minor for prostitution.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Minors can't consent, and they can't be prostitutes, but okay.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And another occasion in 2008, when Epstein was serving a
- 3:29Speaker 1: 15-month sentence. It was first reported by Politico. Now, Diamond
- 3:34Speaker 1: denies it. He will take it to the grave. I
- 3:37Speaker 1: had no idea what you're talking about. I had no
- 3:40Speaker 1: idea who Epstein was, what he was doing, and anybody
- 3:43Speaker 1: saying any different is lying to you. But for me,
- 3:47Speaker 1: I find the whole group of these people to be
- 3:50Speaker 1: the biggest liars on earth. And when I say these people,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I mean the financial sector. I don't think they have
- 3:55Speaker 1: a collective truthful bone in their body. In lawsuits brought
- 4:00Speaker 1: against the U.S. biggest bank by the U.S. Virgin Islands,
- 4:03Speaker 1: the home of Epstein's estate, and victims of the late financier,
- 4:07Speaker 1: plaintiffs sought to determine whether Diamond knew about Epstein's activities
- 4:11Speaker 1: or decisions to keep him as a client. And they
- 4:14Speaker 1: even deposed him. He sat for a deposition and claimed
- 4:17Speaker 1: under oath that it was all a big lie. So
- 4:21Speaker 1: both of them can't be telling the truth. Either Jess
- 4:24Speaker 1: Staley's lying, or Jamie Dimon's lying, or they're both lying
- 4:27Speaker 1: in some capacity. Dimon testified under oath that he did
- 4:32Speaker 1: not recall discussing Epstein before his arrest in 2019. He
- 4:37Speaker 1: said he had no involvement in the decision to retain
- 4:39Speaker 1: or eventually terminate Epstein as a client. In a letter
- 4:43Speaker 1: to representatives on the committee this week, a spokesman for
- 4:46Speaker 1: Diamond reiterated, Mr. Diamond testified truthfully under oath. He never
- 4:51Speaker 1: met Epstein, never emailed him, and was not involved in
- 4:54Speaker 1: any decision to have him as a client. Well, the
- 4:57Speaker 1: buck stops with you, right? You're the boss. And if
- 5:00Speaker 1: one of your executives, Jess Staley, is having relations with
- 5:04Speaker 1: girls who were being abused by Jeffrey Epstein and then
- 5:07Speaker 1: emailing them about Snow White and Beauty and the Beast,
- 5:10Speaker 1: I would say that as the boss of the company,
- 5:13Speaker 1: You have some responsibility. Now, not the kind of responsibility, obviously,
- 5:17Speaker 1: of hands-on, but to just act like you have no idea.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Act like, oh, well, I had no idea what my
- 5:23Speaker 1: top guy was doing. I just don't believe it. Now,
- 5:28Speaker 1: does that mean that Jamie Dimon's lying? No. But I
- 5:32Speaker 1: just don't believe it. Sorry. Sorry. Earlier this month, Senator
- 5:35Speaker 1: Elizabeth Warren, a member of the Finance Committee, wrote to
- 5:37Speaker 1: Dimon asking for clarification about the bank's relationship with Epstein
- 5:41Speaker 1: and how much the chief executive knew. The letter referenced
- 5:45Speaker 1: published messages between Mandelson and Epstein in which they discussed
- 5:49Speaker 1: the possibility of Dimon calling the then-UK Chancellor Alistair Darling. Mr.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Dimon's phone conversation with government officials, including Alistair Darling during
- 5:58Speaker 1: his time as Chancellor of the exchequer, were routine for
- 6:02Speaker 1: the CEO of a global financial institution. JP Morgan said
- 6:06Speaker 1: in the letter, Those calls concern economic and policy matters
- 6:10Speaker 1: relevant to global banking. The record does not support any
- 6:14Speaker 1: suggestion that those calls were improper or related to Epstein. Okay,
- 6:19Speaker 1: I guess. We'll just take your word for it. I mean,
- 6:22Speaker 1: JP Morgan is a pillar of truth, right? They've never
- 6:26Speaker 1: been in business with scumbags. Certainly nothing they've ever engaged in, right?
- 6:30Speaker 1: Never mind all the fines, saying otherwise. Staley appeared voluntarily
- 6:36Speaker 1: before the committee in a closed-door hearing and was not
- 6:39Speaker 1: under oath. Members of the committee said they wanted to
- 6:42Speaker 1: bring Staley back through a subpoena, however saying they did
- 6:45Speaker 1: not believe he was being truthful with them. Should have
- 6:48Speaker 1: been there under subpoena in the first place. Oh, let
- 6:51Speaker 1: me have a voluntary sit-down with so-and-so because they're so
- 6:55Speaker 1: truthful and we can just believe everything they say at
- 6:57Speaker 1: face value. Mr. Staley, in our opinion, is flat out lying,
- 7:04Speaker 1: said Robert Garcia, the ranking Democratic member. He's claiming he
- 7:08Speaker 1: had no real friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. That is ridiculous.
- 7:11Speaker 1: There is documented evidence in the Epstein files of a
- 7:14Speaker 1: decades-long friendship, not just a friendship, but references of being
- 7:18Speaker 1: best friends. He's become an uncredible witness, become he always was.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Like this whole entire dog and pony show is exactly that,
- 7:28Speaker 1: a dog and pony show. And even Julie K. Brown's
- 7:31Speaker 1: catching on now. But for me, I can sniff this
- 7:34Speaker 1: bullshit out right away. You ain't slipping no kangaroo court
- 7:38Speaker 1: by me. Staley has not been criminally charged with facilitating
- 7:44Speaker 1: sex trafficking. Staley has repeatedly denied allegations of wrongdoing in
- 7:49Speaker 1: the friendship. Oh yeah, you know, sleeping with a girl
- 7:52Speaker 1: that was being abused by Epstein and trafficked by him.
- 7:54Speaker 1: No big deal. I didn't know. The former Barclays Bank
- 8:01Speaker 1: Chief Executive developed a close friendship with Epstein. According to
- 8:05Speaker 1: correspondence released by the U.S. Department of Justice earlier this year,
- 8:08Speaker 1: Staley exchanged more than 1,200 emails with him, visited his properties,
- 8:14Speaker 1: and described him as being like family, and he also
- 8:16Speaker 1: paid him a visit in the lockup. Sounds like a
- 8:20Speaker 1: pretty good friend to me. Documents in the files also
- 8:25Speaker 1: indicate that Epstein asked an unnamed woman to purchase a
- 8:28Speaker 1: Snow White costume. Epstein sent Staley a blank email with
- 8:32Speaker 1: an attached photograph of a young woman wearing the costume.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Staley messaged Epstein on July 10th, 2010. That was fun.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Say hi to Snow White. After Epstein had already been
- 8:43Speaker 1: convicted as a child molester. But sure, go on, Jeff Staley.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Tell us some more about how great your judgment is.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Staley is reported to have told the committee on Thursday
- 8:54Speaker 1: that he was unsure who the woman was. Oh, yeah,
- 8:56Speaker 1: I had no idea. I had her dress up as
- 8:58Speaker 1: Snow White. I did... God knows what to her, but
- 9:02Speaker 1: I have no idea who she is. In 2019, after
- 9:06Speaker 1: Epstein's death, the UK Financial Conduct Authority asked Barclays to
- 9:10Speaker 1: explain Staley's relationship with Epstein. Staley stepped down in 2021
- 9:16Speaker 1: after six years at the British Bank. He was fined £ 1. 1
- 9:20Speaker 1: million and banned from Britain's financial industry for downplaying his
- 9:24Speaker 1: close relationship with Epstein. Well, it was a lot more
- 9:28Speaker 1: than that. And this all happened The first time around.
- 9:32Speaker 1: So like all the people that are showing up now.
- 9:34Speaker 1: And I appreciate it. But all these people were outed
- 9:38Speaker 1: years ago. Les Wexner. Forced to step down. Leon Black.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Forced to step down. Jess Staley. Forced to step down.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And this all happened back in 2019-2020. But then it stalled.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Nothing else came of it. But all those people. Had
- 9:58Speaker 1: to step down from their. Boards. had to take a
- 10:00Speaker 1: step back from their businesses, and that's because they knew
- 10:03Speaker 1: the heat was on. And they thought stepping down would
- 10:06Speaker 1: be the end of it. Well, the files came rolling around.
- 10:09Speaker 1: And guess what? It wasn't the end of it. Patricia Wexler,
- 10:14Speaker 1: a spokeswoman for J.P. Morgan, told Politico of Staley's alleged
- 10:17Speaker 1: discussions with Jamie Dimon about Epstein. No such conversation ever occurred,
- 10:23Speaker 1: and Staley lacks credibility. A UK tribunal found Staley to
- 10:27Speaker 1: be evasive and unreliable. Well, that's true, but let's not
- 10:31Speaker 1: act like that's just a Jess Staley problem. There's a
- 10:33Speaker 1: lack of honesty amongst all these people. Epstein's victims later
- 10:39Speaker 1: sued J.P. Morgan in a civil case over accusations it
- 10:42Speaker 1: knowingly profited from his illicit sex trafficking scheme. The bank,
- 10:46Speaker 1: which paid out $ 375 million across two settlements... then suits
- 10:50Speaker 1: Daley for allegedly covering up information about the late financier
- 10:55Speaker 1: that may have seen him dropped as a client. Instead,
- 10:58Speaker 1: they reached a confidential settlement. It's always a confidential settlement,
- 11:02Speaker 1: isn't it? Always private, always behind the scenes, and out
- 11:07Speaker 1: of the view of mere peasants like you and me.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So I wonder if Congress is going to try and
- 11:13Speaker 1: hold him accountable one way or the other. And if
- 11:15Speaker 1: he was lying about Jamie Dimon, that should be something
- 11:18Speaker 1: that's sanctionable. But if he's telling the truth, then the
- 11:21Speaker 1: question is, when is Jamie Dimon coming to speak before Congress?
- 11:28Speaker 1: All the information that goes with this episode can be
- 11:30Speaker 1: found in the description box.
