- 0:21SPEAKER_01: This is the coach.
- 0:26SPEAKER_06: Well, hey there, stranger.
- 0:28SPEAKER_06: How you been?
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: How was your week?
- 0:30SPEAKER_02: How was your week off?
- 0:32SPEAKER_06: Yes, I know.
- 0:33SPEAKER_06: It was amazing.
- 0:34SPEAKER_06: Babies, babies, babies, babies.
- 0:36SPEAKER_06: Got to hang with my grandkids.
- 0:37SPEAKER_06: It was um, yeah, we didn't do anything special.
- 0:40SPEAKER_06: Like nothing, nothing exciting happened, nothing, anything, just spending time with them.
- 0:44SPEAKER_06: That's it.
- 0:45SPEAKER_06: They're just the most amazing little creatures ever put on the face of the earth, and everything they do is perfect.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: The grandma.
- 0:55SPEAKER_06: Right?
- 0:56SPEAKER_06: My daughter said, you know, the one of them would act up and uh you know, she's like, oh, they're being so, you know, they're misbehaving, they're being so bad.
- 1:04SPEAKER_06: I'm like, I just don't see it, honey.
- 1:05SPEAKER_06: I don't I don't see it.
- 1:06SPEAKER_06: I don't really know what you're talking about.
- 1:08SPEAKER_06: I feel like his behavior or her behavior was adorable.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was gonna say you're and in fact, I'm gonna give them another cookie.
- 1:16SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 1:17SPEAKER_06: More cookies.
- 1:18SPEAKER_06: I feel like they need another cookie or you know, whatever.
- 1:21SPEAKER_06: What I mean, literally whatever they want.
- 1:23SPEAKER_06: Whatever they want.
- 1:24SPEAKER_06: Honestly, they could like literally walk all over me and I'd be like, that's okay.
- 1:31SPEAKER_06: It's probably not the way you're supposed to be, but whatever.
- 1:33SPEAKER_06: Grandparent laws.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: There's not a lot of written rules on that whole thing, except you can't take them home.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: That's really about it.
- 1:43SPEAKER_06: Listen, if I could get those kids in my carry-on bag, it would be just to me.
- 1:47SPEAKER_06: I would be doing it.
- 1:48SPEAKER_06: I would.
- 1:48SPEAKER_06: And then, you know, then maybe I would finally get to a point where I'd be like, okay, time to take your kids back.
- 1:52SPEAKER_06: That's but that's you know, that's the thing with you, you don't get to see them as much.
- 1:55SPEAKER_06: You know, I I go every month, which is amazing, and it's such a blessing to do that.
- 1:59SPEAKER_06: But it's, you know, I'd prefer every week.
- 2:01SPEAKER_06: And if it was every week, that would be different, right?
- 2:04SPEAKER_06: Um, you had a busy week too.
- 2:06SPEAKER_06: I don't know how much you can uh share about that, but if you care to share some.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's not a secret.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: You know, a couple of years ago, I was the military advisor for season three of the TV show Reacher on Amazon.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: And um, you know, my best friend is the showrunner.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: And unfortunately, the season that I I worked on, I did everything at distance.
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: You know, everything was done over email um or Zoom calls or those kinds of things.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: And uh unfortunately I didn't get to, I worked with a ton of people that I never really got to meet.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: And I had the opportunity to go up there filming season five in Canada right now.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: And so I spent uh what three nights because they were shooting all night shoots.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Uh so I spent three nights on the set and got to meet a bunch of really, really awesome people uh in person that I had uh you know had some business dealings with a couple of years ago, but also met some even more people.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, they've got a great team up there, and and they do the Reacher show, but uh probably 95% of that team also does the spin-off Nealie, which is another huge show on Amazon.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: Um, and they are really like one big family up there.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: It's pretty, it's pretty awesome to watch.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: Um, but uh yeah, so spent some nights up there, and uh I got a uh actually hang on, I'll grab it.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: There was some I helped on some props and some things, and you know, if you work on a show, a lot of times you get to take souvenirs home, and because I was never there, um I didn't get to really take a souvenir.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: And uh I finally the sets and props lady, uh, she gave me a souvenir that I actually uh had some huge input in.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: I have a desk block that I had my whole career that has my name on it and and stuff.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: And I said, Well, you know, Reacher's office, maybe if you put something like this on his desk, it'll be and so I sent him a picture of mine, and then they built one for the set.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: And so I actually have Jack Reacher's desk nameplate.
- 3:55SPEAKER_06: That is very cool.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: That's pretty awesome.
- 3:58SPEAKER_06: I think so.
- 3:59SPEAKER_06: That's really cool.
- 4:00SPEAKER_06: I love it.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: So uh I got a little piece.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: It was it was a lot of fun.
- 4:05SPEAKER_06: That's so awesome.
- 4:06SPEAKER_06: So, as you know, as is no surprise to anyone who pays, even if you generally don't care, people do pay to you can't help but not know about things.
- 4:14SPEAKER_06: Of course, uh, the guy who plays Reacher, Alan Richson.
- 4:18SPEAKER_06: Richson.
- 4:19SPEAKER_06: I always want to say uh Reichman, which is somebody completely different.
- 4:23SPEAKER_06: Um, he is obviously a bit controversial.
- 4:25SPEAKER_06: He's made some you know pretty strong political statements that he's gotten a lot of backlash for.
- 4:31SPEAKER_06: But your experience with him was pretty nice, yes.
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, super personable guy.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, he he like I said, we did all night shoots.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: Uh some of them were done in neighborhoods, like in people's, you know, in a neighborhood with people's houses.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: And you know, it's Canada and it it was getting down into the high 30s, low 40s uh overnight.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: And he was taking time between shots to come out and shake hands and take pictures with people from the neighborhood, and you know, and it's 30 degrees outside and and um super professional guy.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: Uh nice, and and I listen, you and I are, you know, we talk politics and current events, and we don't always agree with we don't always agree with each other, although it's pretty pretty close to all the time.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: Anyway, um listen, he's a he's a human being and he's got a he's got opinions that I don't necessarily agree with, but that doesn't mean I can't have a grown conversation with a guy.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: And uh I like him, nice guy.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: So um, yeah, it was a lot of fun.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: I I had a great time, I learned a lot, uh, and uh had some great interactions with some people.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: Um stunt guys are amazing, they're so yeah, especially when you when you start talking to him and and you hear things like, Oh yeah, I was uh I was on this movie.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: What do you mean you're on that?
- 5:42SPEAKER_02: Like, and you find out like some of these guys, one of the guys I was talking to was in all three of the um Christopher Nolan Batman movies.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: Oh wow.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: And not only was he in those movies, but he was the stunt double for Batman and Bane.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, so he spent more time in the suit than Christian Bale did, kind of thing.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: So you meet people like the unsung heroes that make productions like that go, and and uh so it's a lot of fun.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: Great, great people.
- 6:06SPEAKER_06: That's so cool.
- 6:07SPEAKER_06: And as far as the whole differing of opinions, especially political opinions, which is you know one of like the top two or three most heated um disagreements or conflicts that people get into these days.
- 6:21SPEAKER_06: It's like it would be so nice if we could all get back to that.
- 6:24SPEAKER_06: Like disagree, fine.
- 6:26SPEAKER_06: I mean, you know, there's no, there's certainly no law saying that we all have to agree on things, but you know, separate, separate yourselves from that a little bit and just go with the human side, you know.
- 6:36SPEAKER_06: And yeah, I think we I think most of us, without even knowing it, experience that every single day that you're interacting and talking with people that, you know, you have no idea what their political opinions are.
- 6:47SPEAKER_06: You have no idea where they stand on any issue because it's simply not part of the conversation that you're having or the interaction you're having.
- 6:53SPEAKER_06: And, you know, it if we can just maybe do that, maybe we do have to go back to remember the old school, that the what is it, three things you don't talk about?
- 7:01SPEAKER_06: Um, money, politics, and religion.
- 7:03SPEAKER_06: Is that right?
- 7:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I don't know.
- 7:05SPEAKER_06: Maybe we need to go back to that because people obviously can't control themselves.
- 7:08SPEAKER_06: And I don't know, we'll see.
- 7:10SPEAKER_06: But that's not happening today because that's you know, more than half of our topics are way more than half.
- 7:16SPEAKER_06: Three quarters of our topics are um political, social political stuff.
- 7:20SPEAKER_06: That's kind of what the show is here, guys.
- 7:22SPEAKER_06: So no surprises.
- 7:23SPEAKER_06: So if you thought you were getting something else here today, you're not.
- 7:26SPEAKER_06: Here's what we're here for.
- 7:28SPEAKER_06: First topic we're talking about um is the execution, the upcoming execution of um oh, of course, I have my order backwards in my list here.
- 7:39SPEAKER_06: Um, but this is being talked about all over the place right now.
- 7:43SPEAKER_06: Uh, how do you pronounce his first name?
- 7:45SPEAKER_06: Nidal Nidal?
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: Nidal Hassan.
- 7:48SPEAKER_06: Nadal Hassan.
- 7:49SPEAKER_06: Um so it was already, you know, well decided that he was going to be executed.
- 7:54SPEAKER_06: He was convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood attack that killed 13 and wounded 32.
- 8:00SPEAKER_06: He is scheduled for execution by firing squad on December 3rd at Fort Hood.
- 8:06SPEAKER_06: Pete Heggs said it would be public and live streamed so people understand the consequences.
- 8:12SPEAKER_06: That was the you know, statement put out, right?
- 8:14SPEAKER_06: Um, and now the White House is reconsidering the plan amid concerns that it could turn the event into propaganda or entertainment, which was my standpoint on it.
- 8:24SPEAKER_06: Listen, I am 100% for the execution.
- 8:29SPEAKER_06: I have absolutely no problem with that whatsoever.
- 8:32SPEAKER_06: Um, I I think that is the right thing to happen.
- 8:35SPEAKER_06: I am good with it.
- 8:36SPEAKER_06: I did not agree, and boy oh boy, did people come for me in the comment.
- 8:40SPEAKER_06: I have plenty of people that agree with me, but plenty of people came for me in the comment section.
- 8:44SPEAKER_06: What a surprise we don't all agree on things.
- 8:47SPEAKER_06: Um and and my thought process was exactly that.
- 8:51SPEAKER_06: That well, actually more than that.
- 8:54SPEAKER_06: So propaganda, entertainment.
- 8:56SPEAKER_06: Um we are already way too desensitized by violence and graphic images and graphic things.
- 9:04SPEAKER_06: I don't need to watch a live execution to feel justified or vindicated or relieved.
- 9:13SPEAKER_06: Um glad isn't a word I would put in this uh a case uh or anything really with about this kind of stuff.
- 9:20SPEAKER_06: Um but uh I don't need to see it in order to, I don't know, to agree with it or to believe it, I guess, right?
- 9:29SPEAKER_06: Uh maybe the victims' families, maybe they would get some closure satisfaction out of it.
- 9:36SPEAKER_06: I don't really know, couldn't speak for anybody.
- 9:38SPEAKER_06: Um, so that right there, I have a problem with it.
- 9:42SPEAKER_06: Again, that people see um the worst crime true crime television is your perfect example of all of these things, right?
- 9:50SPEAKER_06: That we are a society that treats the worst moments of people's lives, getting broadcast for all to see, viewing it as entertainment.
- 10:01SPEAKER_06: And I do and I've said this many times that I have a problem with that.
- 10:04SPEAKER_06: It is, I think it is a deep, ugly flaw in our nature.
- 10:08SPEAKER_06: Um, to either, you know, i i I liken it in some ways, Klay, to watching growing up watching soap operas.
- 10:16SPEAKER_06: You know, people would watch the soaps be or read books, read fiction as ways to escape the mundane or the boringness or the stress of your own life.
- 10:26SPEAKER_06: People use is voyeurism, right?
- 10:28SPEAKER_06: You use it as an escape from your life.
- 10:31SPEAKER_06: You see somebody who has it worse and it somehow makes you feel better, or I don't know.
- 10:35SPEAKER_06: You know, there's a ton of reasons why people watch it, but it does boil down to entertainment.
- 10:39SPEAKER_06: They're using it as entertainment.
- 10:41SPEAKER_06: So that I have a problem with.
- 10:43SPEAKER_06: And then the other side of that is, you know, much like gun laws, um the good guys, good people adhere to the rules and obey and and you know, think about consequences.
- 10:55SPEAKER_06: The bad guys don't.
- 10:56SPEAKER_06: So in a case like this, if you're somebody who is one, um, you have uh political or religious ideologies, or you're mentally ill, or you're both.
- 11:07SPEAKER_06: That's not really gonna phase you, is it?
- 11:09SPEAKER_06: I don't think a live execution will phase those people.
- 11:11SPEAKER_06: And in fact, it'll it'll goes right back to the propaganda that you know that's what it'll be used for.
- 11:15SPEAKER_06: They they want to be martyred.
- 11:17SPEAKER_06: So that's my opinion.
- 11:19SPEAKER_06: Where you stand on it?
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I'm not a fan of the live stream.
- 11:23SPEAKER_02: I yes, is he guilty?
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: Of course he is.
- 11:25SPEAKER_02: Do I have a problem with the firing squad?
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: No, I don't, especially since he supposedly requested it as the method of execution.
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: Um so I have no problem, I have no problem with that as well.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: Um, I do have a problem with the live streaming.
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: Um, listen, there is a reason why uh Osama bin Laden was never given a grave, and there's a reason why the photographs of him uh for identification purposes were have never been released ever, ever.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: And that is because they are are or would be recruiting tools for every terrorist organization in the United States or in the world.
- 11:57SPEAKER_02: Um, this we are giving terror organizations a recruiting film by live streaming this.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: Um Al Qaeda has already vowed that if he is executed, if he is executed, let alone um if he's on live stream, but if he's executed, there will be reprisals from them.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: And and so, but that live stream, that film footage turns into an eternity.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: Like that is there forever.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, I actually would have preferred most people had forgotten about this guy.
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: He was sitting in a jail cell and his, you know, because he when he got shot, he got paralyzed.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: So we, you know, he was sitting in a jail cell rotting, and most people had forgotten about him.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: If they had contracted this to a federal penitentiary, put him in a chair, uh, and executed him and invited only the families of the victims and the the victims themselves, um, choose if you want to come or not.
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: Uh, if they would have done all that and then dumped him in a hole somewhere, um I I think that would have been the best thing.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: But the fact that it's been brought back to the forefront, it's been put in the news, there's this live stream thing, um, I think is a terrible uh I think it's a terrible geopolitical decision because of what it does on behalf of terrorist organizations.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: Um, I think it's a you know, it's a uh decision made in bravado from Secretary Hegseth.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: Uh, I think that, you know, this is one of those things that should have just been handled quietly.
- 13:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: Uh, it doesn't we killed tens of thousands of insurgents, literally tens of that.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: That was not a deterrent.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: Killing this one guy is not deterring anyone by saying, well, this is what you get, is not stopping radical Islamists.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: If you're a radical, you know you're going to die.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: That is part of it.
- 13:47SPEAKER_02: In fact, many of them welcome the opportunity for that.
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: So this is not stopping anyone.
- 13:52SPEAKER_02: So the explanation of this is what you get, people need to understand this is what you get is a is a bad argument.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: Um, and then on top of it, you get the recruiting opportunities for terrorist organizations.
- 14:03SPEAKER_02: So I think all in all, the live streaming, the attention that this is resurfaced under, I think it's all bad.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: I do like the fact that the White House has taken this a step back and said, let's reevaluate, let's re-examine this.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: I do think that Secretary Heggs, once again, off the reservation, uh, making decisions on his own without conferring with people, believing that he has authority to do whatever he wants.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: I think that's that was my next question.
- 14:29SPEAKER_06: That was actually my question for you, Clay.
- 14:30SPEAKER_06: Did he speak out of turn?
- 14:32SPEAKER_06: I think he did when he announced that.
- 14:33SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: I think he did.
- 14:34SPEAKER_02: I don't think he discussed this with the president or any any of the other cabinet members for that matter.
- 14:39SPEAKER_02: I think Secretary Rubio probably would have been the one that said, hey, he would have said, hey, this is a bad idea.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: Let's do some cultural, let's think through the cultural implications of this.
- 14:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: Um and so, but but I think he's I think he completely did this off the reservation, uh, off on his own, made this decision, made the announcement without really getting any kind of approval.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: Secretary or uh Vice President Vance has already expressed a lot of concern about the live streaming for a number of all of the reasons that you and I are talking about.
- 15:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: So I I don't think that there is uh consensus approval in the White House uh or in the administration as a whole.
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: So I do think he stepped out of line.
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: And uh I think I think this is gonna get reeled back in.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: I don't think that this is gonna end up being live streamed, I don't think it's gonna end up being filmed.
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: Uh, and so it will be, you know, and a lot of the victims' families are also pushing back on this.
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: Um the Pope is getting involved again, speaking out of turn, um, speaking when nobody's asked his opinion, uh, but also doing it in a very political sense and not in a very uh biblical sense.
- 15:48SPEAKER_02: You know, he's he's trying to walk people through the well, you can't say that you're you know pro-life, anti-abortion, and support the death penalty.
- 15:59SPEAKER_06: That is so wrong.
- 16:00SPEAKER_06: That is so completely wrong.
- 16:02SPEAKER_06: It's almost mind-blowing that he or anyone would equate the two things uh as the same.
- 16:09SPEAKER_06: Worse than anything is a man who should know the Bible inside out, back and forth, every nook and cranny of it would even say something like that is beyond comprehension to me.
- 16:21SPEAKER_06: It's just the absurdity of it.
- 16:22SPEAKER_06: He just he just goes lower and lower.
- 16:25SPEAKER_06: And I didn't have much esteem for him to begin with.
- 16:27SPEAKER_06: I didn't care one way or the other, to be honest with you.
- 16:30SPEAKER_06: Um, but boy oh boy, if I had any esteem for him, it it's it's just completely gone.
- 16:34SPEAKER_06: This is just yet another opportunity to, you know, offering uh sentiments from your job, essentially, which is as a as a religious leader, like that's it.
- 16:47SPEAKER_06: Your your only opinion should be based out of what the Bible says.
- 16:51SPEAKER_06: Ridiculous to me.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: Um it's it's um, you know, again, nobody asked.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: And now he's got an American, the American uh cardinal who is in charge of the archdiocese that oversees the military, because that is a though in the you know, the build of the Catholic Church, the way that it's organized, there is one archdiocese that controls or that has responsibility for the U.S.
- 17:13SPEAKER_02: military.
- 17:13SPEAKER_02: Um, and that cardinal has said that no members of the Catholic Church should participate in the firing squad uh as Catholics.
- 17:23SPEAKER_02: Again, don't care.
- 17:25SPEAKER_02: Nobody asked your opinion.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: And oh, by the way, soldiers don't get to make choices like that.
- 17:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm sure that there will be, you know, some sort of volunteer ability to opt out if somebody doesn't feel comfortable or something like that.
- 17:41SPEAKER_02: But, you know, this is another one of those where nobody asks the Catholic Church their opinion and and therefore it shouldn't even be taken into consideration.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: If an individual says, very much like the COVID shot, when again, you know, service members weren't given an option, right?
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: Other than if you don't do it, then get out.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: And not to be in so to make sure we're not on the hypocritical side, if a soldier does get put on the detail and says, Hey, I don't want to do this, I don't want to take part in it, fine, step back.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: There's a hundred thousand guys standing behind you that will happily raise their hand.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: I know there's there's a couple of million veterans that would jump in there and do it as well.
- 18:17SPEAKER_06: Well, there's a whole bunch of keyboard warriors that think they would too, you know, till it really came down to it.
- 18:22SPEAKER_06: They're a whole they're a whole other, whole other subject.
- 18:25SPEAKER_02: But I think you and I at the end of the end of it are in the same place, which is you know, death penalty, fine.
- 18:30SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 18:31SPEAKER_02: Firing squad, fine, good with all that.
- 18:34SPEAKER_02: Live stream, terrible idea.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: Um, and the Catholic Church needs to keep their nose out of it.
- 18:39SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 18:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and it's you know, the the whole I I think, you know, there were certainly people in my comment section that misconstrued misconstrued my objection and probably thought, because I don't read that, I've just glanced at the comments, if any.
- 18:53SPEAKER_06: And uh I I think they misconstrued it because they don't watch carefully and they don't actually listen.
- 18:59SPEAKER_06: Uh it's it's not a moral objection, it's not a uh sensitivity objection, it's a pr it's a practicality objection.
- 19:09SPEAKER_06: It is a logical uh objection.
- 19:12SPEAKER_06: Like you show me um how how this will how this will actually work as a deterrent for the people that it it should be deterring, because the only people that are gonna, you know, clutch their pearls at this are sensitive people who would never do something like this, who would never cause this kind of harm to anybody.
- 19:32SPEAKER_06: Um, you know, so it's just from a very, very practical, logical um viewpoint.
- 19:38SPEAKER_06: I know y'all think that girls can't be practical and logical, but we can.
- 19:43SPEAKER_06: Us us blondies, we can uh, you know, we can have a practical thought in our head.
- 19:48SPEAKER_06: Jeez.
- 19:49SPEAKER_06: But um as far as the executions, yeah, as far as the the the manner, uh again, I I agree with you.
- 19:55SPEAKER_06: I don't care that it's firing squad, that's what he picked.
- 19:58SPEAKER_06: All right, whatever.
- 19:58SPEAKER_06: Of course he picked that.
- 20:00SPEAKER_06: He wanted the most dramatic way possible, right?
- 20:02SPEAKER_06: Because he's he wants he wants to be martyred, and that's what his his people will will do.
- 20:08SPEAKER_06: You know, that's a perfect one for them.
- 20:10SPEAKER_06: So they shouldn't have given him the choice, actually.
- 20:12SPEAKER_06: They should give him the most like dishonorable, embarrassing.
- 20:17SPEAKER_06: I don't even know what that would be, to be honest with you.
- 20:18SPEAKER_06: I have no idea.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: I've heard some uh, you know, very um creative, but also very um probably not, you know, not all that ethical, like, oh, they should wrap the bullets in bacon, they should have a woman on the firing squad to make sure that he's, you know, yeah.
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: Um they should have dogs there.
- 20:37SPEAKER_02: They should, you know, all the things that, you know, traditionally I listen.
- 20:41SPEAKER_06: I'm sorry, you're all gonna think I'm so terrible, but I I am I am completely for that.
- 20:45SPEAKER_06: Do it.
- 20:47SPEAKER_06: Do it.
- 20:47SPEAKER_06: I love that.
- 20:48SPEAKER_06: I love it.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm much more of the mechanical, like just get it over with because the more the more you start messing with stuff, you start having, you know, things like uh what was that, Tennessee or Kentucky?
- 20:58SPEAKER_06: Oh my goodness, that fiasco.
- 21:00SPEAKER_06: Is that woman gonna actually does she is she so crazy to me.
- 21:05SPEAKER_06: So crazy.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: You understand that she requested an entire female staffed execution team.
- 21:14SPEAKER_06: I did not know that.
- 21:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: So she was she was abused as a young woman, didn't trust men.
- 21:20SPEAKER_02: So what she wanted was an entire female execution team, and then it got botched.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: And I'm not gonna make any jokes passed.
- 21:29SPEAKER_06: No, no, I can't, I mean, I can't even think of a single joke that you could make, Clay.
- 21:33SPEAKER_06: I mean, I just don't know.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I you know, the more you complicate it, the more you have instances like that happening.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: So um December 3rd, it'll come and it'll go.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: I hope that there is very little fanfare and that it passes very quietly and that they dump them in a hole somewhere.
- 21:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah, same.
- 21:50SPEAKER_06: I I hope uh I I pray for the families to get uh the the closure uh that they need as best you can.
- 21:57SPEAKER_06: I mean, you know, nothing brings back your loved ones, nothing un Injures you.
- 22:01SPEAKER_06: Um, nothing brings back life the way that it was.
- 22:04SPEAKER_06: So, you know, I I hope it does give them some sense of of peace or justice at the very least.
- 22:10SPEAKER_06: Um, justice.
- 22:12SPEAKER_06: So yeah.
- 22:13SPEAKER_06: Um, along the same veins, completely different topic.
- 22:17SPEAKER_06: Let's talk about Cornell 7.
- 22:20SPEAKER_06: This whole thing is so crazy, isn't it, Clay?
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: Um what I and I have said this to you a million times.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: People stop jumping to conclusions until all the evidence is out.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: Because this has been a rolling, like, oh, today something new.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: Oh, text messages, oh, we have an affidavit.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: Oh, and like so many things.
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: From the first 24 hours that this broke, there has been uh unbelievably uninformed backlash from all kinds of people, and it just you look dumber and dumber every single day.
- 22:57SPEAKER_06: Every day, every single day.
- 23:00SPEAKER_06: The whole, you know, the whole um faction of people who live in the all men are evil and bad and should be, you know, eradicated and destroyed and hated and everything, you know, they jump so hard and so fast on this.
- 23:16SPEAKER_06: And, you know, and the thing with a lot of them too is like once once you get proven to be wrong or misled, or at least, you know, or even just a hundred not a hundred percent correct, they can't back down.
- 23:28SPEAKER_06: Like they can't admit that they were wrong.
- 23:30SPEAKER_06: They'll either double down or they'll just quietly go away.
- 23:33SPEAKER_06: There's never any, hey, I was I was wrong.
- 23:35SPEAKER_06: My bad.
- 23:36SPEAKER_06: Sorry.
- 23:37SPEAKER_06: But yeah, the this thing is what a mess.
- 23:40SPEAKER_06: What the the whole thing is um it's just gross, honestly.
- 23:45SPEAKER_06: It's just flat gross and disgusting and depraved, honestly.
- 23:50SPEAKER_06: And um, you know, if if I'm not saying that it is, if this is uh an example of what's going on across college campuses, oof.
- 24:00SPEAKER_06: That's all I can say.
- 24:02SPEAKER_06: Um so for those of you, go ahead.
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're gonna do what I was just gonna do.
- 24:07SPEAKER_06: So for those of you that don't know, today is Wednesday that we are recording.
- 24:12SPEAKER_06: You'll be watching this on Thursday.
- 24:14SPEAKER_06: Uh so anything that happens between now and then, um, you know, we can't cover it because this is a recording.
- 24:23SPEAKER_06: There we go.
- 24:24SPEAKER_06: You do it so much nicer.
- 24:25SPEAKER_06: I just did it so goofy.
- 24:26SPEAKER_06: Um, but anyhow, so at this moment, here's what we've got going on.
- 24:30SPEAKER_06: So for those of you who don't know um kind of the the synopsis of the case, uh, here it is.
- 24:36SPEAKER_06: A former Cornell student has sued the university and seven Chi-Fi uh fraternity members.
- 24:44SPEAKER_06: Chi-Fi, thank you.
- 24:45SPEAKER_06: See how much I I don't know.
- 24:47SPEAKER_06: I didn't go to college, guys.
- 24:48SPEAKER_06: There are you happy?
- 24:49SPEAKER_06: Um, certainly not in any sororities.
- 24:52SPEAKER_06: A let's see.
- 24:53SPEAKER_06: So uh seven Chi-Fi fraternity members alleging she was drugged with ketamine and alcohol and gang raped at their house in October 2024.
- 25:02SPEAKER_06: So this goes back to 2024.
- 25:04SPEAKER_06: Correct me if I'm wrong, Clay.
- 25:06SPEAKER_06: They like opened this up, looked at it, looked at what was presented, and they were like, Yeah, there's there's you got nothing, right?
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: So so initially the university did a an investigation.
- 25:18SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 25:18SPEAKER_02: Keep in mind, folks, this is not a criminal investigation.
- 25:22SPEAKER_02: This is an investigation done by a university.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: Um, so it's not it's this is not like law enforcement quality kind of stuff.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: So, what happened to these seven young men?
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: Uh, two were expelled, yeah.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: Uh, two were suspended and then reinstated, and then two grad had graduated by the time all of this came to light.
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: And then there was a seventh one who was basically nothing happened to him.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: If I remember right, that's kind of the laydown of what happened to the seven young men.
- 25:56SPEAKER_02: Um, there have been things that have happened since just yesterday, or maybe even today.
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: Um, Cornell has barred any and all parties in any Greek houses, fraternity or sorority, for the rest of this school year.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: Um that will probably carry over.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: That fraternity, I believe, has been dismantled, has been shut down on Cornell campus.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: Um, but you know, what has happened in this rolling kind of release of this um is that bits and pieces of evidence have been released in in small parts.
- 26:30SPEAKER_02: And so initially it was yes, this girl went to a party.
- 26:35SPEAKER_02: She had come from there, you know, there were bits and pieces.
- 26:37SPEAKER_02: She'd come from a bar, she had had some alcohol, but she got to this party.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: Um, and then she was given more alcohol, she was given ketamine, and uh, you know, some boys engaged in sexual conduct with her, and then somebody sent out a mass text message to the rest of the fraternity that said, Hey, come to room XYZ.
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: There's you know, free sex in there, basically, um, to keep it moderately clean.
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and and so evidently some more boys came to the room.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: Now, that was the initial push, and from that reaction, everybody had what we would all have, which is holy crap, this sounds really bad for that fraternity.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: We all have flashes of animal house in our head, we have flashes of a poor young girl that was sexually assaulted, but then more information came out, right?
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: Then there was an affidavit that she filled out a couple of days after this happened that said, hey, everything that happened was consensual.
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: Hey, I yes, I took ketamine, but it was voluntarily, and then there was um more text messages that came out, and then more information.
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: And every time a new piece of evidence or information came out, the viewpoint of was this consensual?
- 27:54SPEAKER_02: Was it not consensual?
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: Right, was she regretful?
- 27:58SPEAKER_02: Was she not regretful?
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: Were the boys regretful?
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: Were they not regretful?
- 28:02SPEAKER_02: Like it has moved back and forth so many times in small bunches that right now, I said it from the beginning, but I will say it again.
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: Do not jump to conclusions on this, right?
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: Everybody is afraid of victim blaming, right?
- 28:18SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: Um, the the seven boys' names have all been released, which is potentially like think back to Duke LaCrosse.
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:27SPEAKER_02: Um her name, I think, was released at one point.
- 28:30SPEAKER_02: Everybody continues to refer to her as Jane Doe.
- 28:32SPEAKER_06: Jane Doe, right.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: Um, uh, but but her name I think was released at one point, which is shameful, right?
- 28:39SPEAKER_02: Nobody's name should have been released in this.
- 28:41SPEAKER_06: No, none of them.
- 28:42SPEAKER_02: Um, but there is now, like you said, she's suing the university, which is now turning into potential criminal charges.
- 28:48SPEAKER_02: There will be a full investigation by the local police department.
- 28:51SPEAKER_02: Um, but I will tell you folks, this, you know, I've seen everything as I'm sure you have, Elsa.
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: The um, you know, don't victim blame.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: Um, I've seen the t-shirts that were immediate.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: I'm Jane Doe, Cornell Jane Doe, or whatever they're saying.
- 29:08SPEAKER_06: Um Lindsay Clancy last month, you know.
- 29:13SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 29:14SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, I've seen the um teach your boys not to rape, right?
- 29:18SPEAKER_02: So these guys have already been convicted in the court of public opinion.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: Um it's it's all over the place, folks.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: And you're right.
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: It's the same people who are, you know, uh protecting this young lady uh from the consequences of her actions, good, right, or wrong, right?
- 29:33SPEAKER_02: Right, wrong, or indifferent, um, are the same people who were cheering for Lindsay Clancy, the same people who were calling Sydney Sweeney uh all kinds of names for dressing, you know, the way that she did for the commercial.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:48SPEAKER_02: They're the same people who are going after Shane Gillis right now, which you and I talked about before the show started, that we decided not to make a topic right now.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: But but they're the same people.
- 29:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right?
- 30:00SPEAKER_02: Again, it's the hypocrisy and the inconsistent judgment um that makes you just look dumb.
- 30:08SPEAKER_02: You just look dumb.
- 30:09SPEAKER_06: Dumb, so dumb.
- 30:10SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you know, uh, Clay, same thing, right from the beginning.
- 30:15SPEAKER_06: Again, same thing like you said, the same initial, you know, woe uh sentiment of, oh, this sounds absolutely terrible.
- 30:25SPEAKER_06: And then, you know, now then I'm I I'm so conditioned, much like you.
- 30:29SPEAKER_06: Um, and I always credit my husband and I also credit you for it to do, you know, I take that pause and just go, well, we'll see.
- 30:36SPEAKER_06: We'll see.
- 30:37SPEAKER_06: We'll see what what else comes out.
- 30:38SPEAKER_06: I'll wait, I'll wait till it's all out, and then I will, you know, have some sense of an opinion on it.
- 30:45SPEAKER_06: Um, but it's gonna be based in the facts that we're presented with, and and that that's it.
- 30:50SPEAKER_06: I'm not getting caught up.
- 30:52SPEAKER_06: Guess what it comes down to is I'm not getting caught up in the emotional reactions um to things, and that's all these things are.
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: Understand the the jurisdiction that this falls under and the nuances of the laws where it happened, because where you live, the laws may say one thing.
- 31:11SPEAKER_02: In New York, they may say another.
- 31:13SPEAKER_02: In other words, there is potential uh for this young lady to also be served with sexual assault charges because she was not the only one on drugs, or that sexual assault charges may not be possible against these seven young men solely because um she voluntarily took the drugs.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: Nobody slipped our Mickey, they weren't dropped in her drinks, she admitted she took them freely, and at that point, right, the New York laws kick in a little bit different than some other places.
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: So none of us are well, I'm not a lawyer, you're not a lawyer, none of us are judges, right?
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: So wait for this thing to go through.
- 31:52SPEAKER_02: I will tell you that if you if you are at all sensitive to um some adult content, do not read the details of this because uh it was uh, you know, from what I've seen uh in the affidavit and even in some of the text messages, it is some pretty raunchy stuff.
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: And so um if you're sensitive to that, I would not go digging too very deep into the details of this.
- 32:20SPEAKER_06: No, I, you know, the you know, from what I read, um it it appears to be that this was all consensual, very drunken, consensual, drunken and drug-induced uh consensual activity between all parties that were involved.
- 32:37SPEAKER_06: Um there were parts, uh there were points during this, I think this was like a you know pretty extended period of time, um, that she either said no or was, you know, whatever, said no, and the person that she said no to walked away, was like, okay, so she was never at any point uh forced by her own statements.
- 33:01SPEAKER_06: This is I I'm not making things up.
- 33:02SPEAKER_06: This is by her own statements.
- 33:04SPEAKER_06: Um, you know, so what this really sounds like, it sounds like somebody who made some really, really bad personal decisions and there were consequences for it, and then embarrassment set in, and probably some, you know, friends or whoever saying, telling her that, you know, well, you that's that's assault.
- 33:22SPEAKER_06: You were assaulted.
- 33:23SPEAKER_06: You know, it doesn't matter that you said yes, you were drunk.
- 33:25SPEAKER_06: They forget one little detail.
- 33:27SPEAKER_06: If she's innocent because she was too impaired to make good judgment, then the boys were too impaired to be judged for having impaired judgment.
- 33:36SPEAKER_06: So it it's kind of they it kind of it's a wash.
- 33:39SPEAKER_06: Like they all made terrible, disgusting life decisions, and that's it.
- 33:46SPEAKER_06: Like that should be the end of the story.
- 33:49SPEAKER_06: It shouldn't be any of our business, quite frankly.
- 33:51SPEAKER_06: Um, we shouldn't even know about this.
- 33:52SPEAKER_06: It should never have even been brought to this level of attention.
- 33:56SPEAKER_06: Um, but you know, presumably either she got embarrassed into doing this, maybe she it, you know, is seeking monetary gain from it.
- 34:05SPEAKER_06: No idea what her intentions are, what her beliefs are.
- 34:08SPEAKER_06: Uh clearly to put yourself in that kind of situation, um, you got some stuff going on and you probably do need some psychological help, really.
- 34:17SPEAKER_06: This this is not just um it's not just kids being kids, college kids being wild.
- 34:22SPEAKER_06: This is a whole level of um uh grossness, really.
- 34:27SPEAKER_06: It really is.
- 34:28SPEAKER_06: It's not um, it's not just to me, I don't know.
- 34:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we're not absolving those young men.
- 34:33SPEAKER_02: Like no when the when the text message goes out to the fraternity uh that says, you know, hey, come get a freebie.
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, should should somebody in the I don't know what it was, 40 something guys on the on the text chain, should somebody have walked into room you know five and gone, okay, this is sure, yeah.
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: We we're not absolving that.
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: Should the, you know, anybody who answered the text message and went to room five, like, is there a like should should they probably reevaluate their life choices?
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: A hundred percent, but only the court is gonna be able to get one, all the information, uh, two, all the facts, all the witnesses, all of those things.
- 35:13SPEAKER_02: So for the rest of us, um just let it run.
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: Let it let it come to its conclusion and and trust the American justice system.
- 35:22SPEAKER_02: That's all I'm gonna tell you.
- 35:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:24SPEAKER_06: That's it.
- 35:24SPEAKER_06: That's that's all you really can do.
- 35:26SPEAKER_06: I I think, you know, again, it kind of goes back to the um execution conversation that, you know, people are everybody's living like vicariously um through these events, these news-making events, and like I don't know, making it their whole identity.
- 35:44SPEAKER_06: Like this is the biggest thing to be talking about, and and the most important thing going on.
- 35:50SPEAKER_06: And, you know, everybody has to make sure everybody knows your opinion on it and the t-shirts and the I stand with so-and-so, or I like, oh my gosh, you you need a hobby.
- 36:00SPEAKER_06: Like, you need a really, you just do.
- 36:04SPEAKER_06: I mean, listen, and I know somebody will hop in and be like, oh, but you're sitting here talking about it.
- 36:09SPEAKER_06: Like, dude, this is this is like literally a job for me.
- 36:12SPEAKER_06: This is, you know, what I do.
- 36:14SPEAKER_06: Social media content creation is what I do.
- 36:18SPEAKER_06: So at least I'm earning a living off of talking about.
- 36:22SPEAKER_06: But y'all sitting there on the street corner with your little picket sign and your little, you know, sharpie drawn t-shirts on a beautiful Saturday afternoon when you can be enjoying time with your family or taking a hike or reading a book.
- 36:35SPEAKER_06: It's like, oh, it just makes me sick for them.
- 36:38SPEAKER_06: It's just sad.
- 36:40SPEAKER_02: Or run for office.
- 36:42SPEAKER_06: Or that.
- 36:43SPEAKER_06: I mean, how about that?
- 36:44SPEAKER_06: Do something really constructive with your time that, you know, if you're so outraged, uh, advocate, right?
- 36:51SPEAKER_06: Advocate, um, run for office.
- 36:54SPEAKER_06: Um, I I don't know, there are just so many more uh productive ways, out outlets that you can express your big feelings in.
- 37:03SPEAKER_06: Start a podcast.
- 37:05SPEAKER_06: There you go.
- 37:06SPEAKER_06: Start a podcast.
- 37:06SPEAKER_06: There's only about 20 million of them out there.
- 37:09SPEAKER_06: Add more.
- 37:10SPEAKER_06: Why not?
- 37:12SPEAKER_06: Oh, so yeah, like I don't know.
- 37:14SPEAKER_06: To sum it up, like you said, Clay, just sit back, let let let the system do what the system does.
- 37:20SPEAKER_06: And um, you know, is there always justice?
- 37:23SPEAKER_06: No, there isn't always justice, but you literally have no control over it.
- 37:27SPEAKER_06: So that's that.
- 37:30SPEAKER_02: Who do we want to?
- 37:31SPEAKER_06: What's that?
- 37:32SPEAKER_02: Speaking of criminals in office.
- 37:34SPEAKER_06: Ooh, how about this one?
- 37:36SPEAKER_06: Hey now.
- 37:38SPEAKER_06: Um, so yeah, so this has actually been a long time coming.
- 37:42SPEAKER_06: Now you uh Ilhan Omar, uh, her home and her office, everything, all her stuff was rated, right?
- 37:48SPEAKER_06: Or was it just her home?
- 37:50SPEAKER_02: But since then, like uh family members have been subpoenaed and like all kinds of stuff.
- 37:55SPEAKER_02: So it is a large-scale investigation.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: Um, but they started with her house, what was it, yesterday morning, I think at 6 a.m.
- 38:04SPEAKER_02: they kicked the door in.
- 38:05SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 38:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 38:05SPEAKER_06: So um, yep, like Clay said, photo agents executed a search warrant at Ilhan Omar's DC home early Monday morning.
- 38:11SPEAKER_06: A judge signed off on it.
- 38:13SPEAKER_06: The investigation focuses on possible false statements and fraud in immigration paperwork filed years ago by her late father.
- 38:21SPEAKER_06: Uh, specifically questions about her birth date and whether she derived citizen citizenship properly.
- 38:28SPEAKER_06: She calls it political targeting.
- 38:30SPEAKER_06: Um, let's see what else.
- 38:32SPEAKER_06: Um, yeah, that's I mean, that's the gist of it.
- 38:35SPEAKER_06: So, yeah, so one of the key things that I actually read was, you know, everybody's thinking that that Trump, the Trump administration, opened this up and started this whole thing.
- 38:44SPEAKER_06: This was actually started during Biden's administration, y'all.
- 38:50SPEAKER_06: And um, and then it was dropped, right?
- 38:52SPEAKER_06: For a while, they kind of just let it go for whatever reasons, and now here we are again.
- 38:57SPEAKER_06: It's been picked up again, obviously.
- 38:59SPEAKER_06: So, and is this has obviously been probably being quietly investigated for a while, and uh, and they clearly got enough of what they needed to be able to execute a search warrant, right?
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so her father, for those of you that don't know, was a uh colonel, for lack of a better term.
- 39:18SPEAKER_02: He had one of those, you know, African army ranks thrown around like uh, you know, yeah, like a prize at the bottom of a cereal box.
- 39:27SPEAKER_02: Um, but he he worked for the warlord, uh Mohamed Fred Ideed uh in Somalia of truthfully Blackhawk Down fame.
- 39:35SPEAKER_02: Like that's why we were there in the early 90s was to get Adid out of you know, out of power.
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: And her father worked for him.
- 39:42SPEAKER_02: So when that all came crumbling down, they came here to the United States.
- 39:47SPEAKER_02: And yes, there is speculation because her birth date has been changed on a couple of documents that she erroneously was given uh, you know, go went through immigration under false documentation, false pretenses, and then eventually her citizenship and whatnot.
- 40:02SPEAKER_02: However, I think what you will find is that there was suspicion, especially regarding her finances, um, yeah uh that as part of these raids and as as part of gathering evidence, they are going to find other things, right?
- 40:19SPEAKER_02: We all know the suspicions about her brother and her marriage and and all of that.
- 40:24SPEAKER_02: We also know that she claimed, you know, oh, I made$100,000 this year and then$30 million, you know, my net her net worth went up to$30 million, and then suddenly it was back down to$100,000 and it was oops, my oops.
- 40:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, my accountant made a mistake, right?
- 40:40SPEAKER_06: One heck of a mistake.
- 40:42unknown: Yeah.
- 40:42SPEAKER_06: So I think Yeah, the mistake was that he actually disclosed something he wasn't supposed to disclose.
- 40:46SPEAKER_06: Exactly right.
- 40:47SPEAKER_06: That was the mistake.
- 40:48SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 40:48SPEAKER_02: Um, and so I think with these with these raids, this is evidence gathering.
- 40:52SPEAKER_02: Um and by the way, folks, that's why you do these kinds of raids, right?
- 40:57SPEAKER_02: This is why you get a warrant to conduct a thorough search, to gain evidence, to prosecute people for crimes.
- 41:04SPEAKER_02: Um and and you know, the listen, we all know she's guilty of something.
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: It's just a matter of what and and what can they prove.
- 41:12SPEAKER_02: Uh and will it result in her being uh stripped of her citizenship and deported?
- 41:16SPEAKER_02: I hope so.
- 41:17SPEAKER_06: Oh, wouldn't that be amazing?
- 41:18SPEAKER_02: Oh, it'd be great.
- 41:19SPEAKER_02: Uh again, with everything else that we've talked about so far, the unbelievable hypocrisy surrounding this is goes back to Mar-a-Lago raid, right?
- 41:31SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: Where everyone was, including Ilhan Omar.
- 41:36SPEAKER_02: No one is above the law.
- 41:38SPEAKER_02: No one is above the law in response, right?
- 41:42SPEAKER_02: And so now she is on the opposite end of this and is claiming political targeting, right?
- 41:47SPEAKER_02: Um, along with a dozens and dozens of other people who are claiming the same thing.
- 41:51SPEAKER_02: And truthfully, the internet's doing what the internet does, and everybody's digging through old tweets and everything else, and they're finding exactly the same thing.
- 41:58SPEAKER_02: The people who were cheering for the Mar-a-Lago raid and have been claiming the whole, you know, Trump's not above the law and he's a criminal and all this other stuff are the same people that are defending her uh with vigor.
- 42:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's so predictable, isn't it?
- 42:14SPEAKER_06: Like at this at this point, all you could do, like you can't get mad.
- 42:17SPEAKER_06: Anybody who's who's following all of these things and and you know, feeling some anger well up over it, like all you can do is just laugh.
- 42:24SPEAKER_06: Like, just laugh about it.
- 42:25SPEAKER_06: Like this is so silly.
- 42:26SPEAKER_06: Like, because like you said, the internet does what the internet does.
- 42:29SPEAKER_06: And it takes two seconds to pull up, you know, dozens upon dozens of of uh you know, clips and videos and tweets and whatnot of them, you know, calling for the same exact thing.
- 42:41SPEAKER_06: It's just different when it happens to them.
- 42:43SPEAKER_06: You know, that's always the case.
- 42:44SPEAKER_06: And listen, uh Democrats aren't the only one guilty of that.
- 42:48SPEAKER_06: Of course, uh, conservatives and uh are are guilty of of the same types of things.
- 42:53SPEAKER_06: This just happens to be quite a long phase of it being the Democrats' turn because they're so freaking blatant about it.
- 43:00SPEAKER_06: And it's just so, so absurd and predictable.
- 43:05SPEAKER_06: So yeah, I mean, I I I hope beyond hope uh that the result in this is her being deported because I I would um probably like literally applaud to see that happen.
- 43:17SPEAKER_06: So yeah.
- 43:18SPEAKER_06: Um, hey, speaking of of the Dems, let's just move on to the next weird.
- 43:23SPEAKER_06: This dude is so weird, he's such a creepy little troll man.
- 43:28SPEAKER_06: Oh, um, but anyhow, he disappeared.
- 43:30SPEAKER_06: Uh James Tellerico, he's the Democratic Senate candidate in Texas.
- 43:34SPEAKER_06: He was off the trail for roughly 10 days um in his campaign, of course.
- 43:40SPEAKER_06: Said that it was the severe flu, and then online speculation went wild.
- 43:45SPEAKER_06: And uh the the the rumor that took hold and is the one that's been circulating is that he checked into a mental facility or was checked into a mental uh facility in Ohio.
- 43:58SPEAKER_06: Um, so I don't Listen, I don't know.
- 44:01SPEAKER_06: The facility itself denied it.
- 44:03SPEAKER_06: Um, he reappeared in Austin just recently.
- 44:06SPEAKER_06: I don't even know what day, probably yesterday.
- 44:08SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 44:09SPEAKER_06: Um, so yeah, anytime listen, we're we're at the point now where anytime they have like these long unexplained absences, you know, or even like vaguely explained like Mitch McConnell and uh who else?
- 44:20SPEAKER_06: There was a few other uh Congress Lloyd Austin, Secretary Austin, remember?
- 44:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, disappeared, right?
- 44:27SPEAKER_06: Went off the grid.
- 44:28SPEAKER_06: Uh turned out he was quite ill.
- 44:31SPEAKER_06: Um, there's a couple other ones.
- 44:33SPEAKER_06: I'm I'm picturing her face.
- 44:34SPEAKER_06: I can't come from the name.
- 44:34SPEAKER_06: But anyhow, like this is the routine.
- 44:36SPEAKER_06: Like they just one ended up, they found him in a nursing home.
- 44:39SPEAKER_06: You know, like they they just disappear, you know.
- 44:42SPEAKER_06: So the logical conclusion is that there's certainly a reason.
- 44:46SPEAKER_06: Maybe the uh like the flu thing is legitimate.
- 44:49SPEAKER_06: They supposedly, I think I just read that they supposedly uh shared some uh like video or something proof that he was home during some of those days.
- 44:58SPEAKER_06: Like I don't know if it was video or what, but who cares these days?
- 45:01SPEAKER_06: Like nobody believes anything, anyhow, because guess what?
- 45:04SPEAKER_06: AI is the first, I think this is the first episode in a while that we haven't had a topic about AI, so I just felt the need to throw in the words AI randomly.
- 45:13SPEAKER_02: So it's um I I do tend to look at the what's not what was happening so much as what was not happening.
- 45:24SPEAKER_02: And so what wasn't happening is somebody who was super duper active on social media was not active on social media, and not only not the videos, I mean the guy looks like Howdy Duty for those of us that are old enough to remember howdy duty, that's or a young Richie Cunningham, whichever you want to pick, yeah, um, which is what he looks like.
- 45:44SPEAKER_02: But he is constantly on video and um posting pictures of himself or at events on um, you know, social media.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: There was nothing, like like zero nothing.
- 45:59SPEAKER_02: Um so you know, at least you would think, you would hope that his staff and those around him would have picked up the telephone and at least pretended to be him with some tweets that are like, Hey folks, sorry, have to cancel, got the flu.
- 46:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, somebody send me some chicken noodles or whatever.
- 46:21SPEAKER_06: Like, right, but there was an act of even the selfie, even the classic in-bed with the blue selfie, you know, looking all pathetic and whatnot.
- 46:28SPEAKER_06: Nothing.
- 46:29SPEAKER_02: Zero.
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: So that's the wrong.
- 46:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: And and so when you do that, when there is no communication, you are leaving people to their own to come to their own conclusions and leaving them to their own devices.
- 46:41SPEAKER_02: And so this is what you get.
- 46:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:44SPEAKER_02: Um, I am a a believer in this particular instance that he was not sick, that he was there was something else going on.
- 46:52SPEAKER_06: There is definitely something else going on.
- 46:54SPEAKER_06: We are in, especially like you said, with somebody like him who is always constantly, you know, on or in social media in some way or another.
- 47:02SPEAKER_06: Uh there's just no way that he went complete off the grid.
- 47:07SPEAKER_06: Like you would, everybody does it.
- 47:09SPEAKER_06: I remember like and don't tell me that, you know, you don't know what it's like.
- 47:12SPEAKER_06: You must have never had the flu.
- 47:14SPEAKER_06: Dude, I had pneumonia and I was making video.
- 47:17SPEAKER_06: It was like, I had it so bad.
- 47:18SPEAKER_06: I was so sick.
- 47:19SPEAKER_06: I had 104 fever for 14 days.
- 47:22SPEAKER_06: So don't, and I'm taking videos of me looking pathetic.
- 47:25SPEAKER_06: So you can't tell me that you're not going.
- 47:28SPEAKER_06: If this is part of your world and what you do, you're gonna find a way to do it, even if it's torture for you.
- 47:36SPEAKER_02: And listen, he's a politician running, he is inside of a month, you know, to election day, literally every minute counts.
- 47:46SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 47:46SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, you can't disappear for 10 days, nobody can afford it.
- 47:52SPEAKER_02: And so, like you said, no matter what it is, even if it's this, and listen, these political, these people who run these political accounts for social media, they know what they're doing.
- 48:02SPEAKER_02: Yes, if he was sick, if he was the flu, this would have been a sympathy play.
- 48:07SPEAKER_02: They would have had the photos and all of that.
- 48:11SPEAKER_02: Nothing.
- 48:12SPEAKER_02: So nobody, I nobody should believe that this was, oh, I just had the flu.
- 48:18SPEAKER_02: Oh, by the way, folks, if you're one of those people that says, Well, you've never had the flu, um, well, you're not James Tallerico, right?
- 48:25SPEAKER_02: You're not the guy running for maybe you've had the flu, and maybe you've shut down your phone for five or six days, and maybe you've had the ability to rest and recuperate.
- 48:33SPEAKER_02: Good for you.
- 48:34SPEAKER_02: That's he doesn't have that.
- 48:36SPEAKER_02: So it's an apples and oranges comparison.
- 48:38SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I something happened.
- 48:40SPEAKER_02: I don't know what you could make the speculation of a mental health break, um, you know, some sort of psychological or psychiatric treatment.
- 48:48SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 48:48SPEAKER_02: Um, he may have had a medical issue, right?
- 48:53SPEAKER_02: It could have been a lot of things, could have been as simple as an appendix, it could have been a gallbladder, it could have been, you know, a syphilis outbreak.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: But you know, it could have been a lot of things, but there's no explanation.
- 49:06SPEAKER_02: And the flu's not cutting it, right?
- 49:08SPEAKER_02: The flu is just that is that is a horrible, horrible line to take because nobody believes it.
- 49:14SPEAKER_06: No, and you had the most valid point too about that whole thing that casts even more confusion or curiosity about it.
- 49:23SPEAKER_06: Like you have a team, why aren't they posting on your behalf?
- 49:28SPEAKER_06: Like that part to me is even more questionable.
- 49:31SPEAKER_06: Like, are they getting ready to pull him for some reason?
- 49:34SPEAKER_02: No, right?
- 49:35SPEAKER_02: That's that's that is one of the pieces of speculation.
- 49:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, is that he got pulled aside, and I heard this uh yesterday that he got pulled aside and was told, listen, you're slipping, the race is slipping, um, there is a problem, and the DNC is about to pull funding, they're about to, you know, and all of those things, and then he went into a mental breakdown.
- 49:59SPEAKER_02: Um, and so I again that's pure speculation, folks, but you could see how something like that you know, and and when the last word from the DNC is we're pulling your funding, and the whole staff looks around and they go, Well, we're about to be not paid.
- 50:14SPEAKER_06: So I don't care what yeah, yeah, whatever.
- 50:17SPEAKER_06: And went off and did their own social media stuff and started looking for another job already.
- 50:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah, right.
- 50:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they're like, okay, well, time to, you know, time to put the resume on LinkedIn.
- 50:27SPEAKER_06: Yeah, damn.
- 50:30SPEAKER_06: Oh, oh my goodness.
- 50:32SPEAKER_06: Speaking of new jobs, let's talk about our new press secretary, Katie Zachariah.
- 50:39SPEAKER_06: She stepped up as the White House press secretary on October 13th after our delightful Caroline Levitt left to spend more time with her children and take a job at Fox, I guess.
- 50:50SPEAKER_06: Um Zachary has a law degree from Pepperdine, worked as a DHS spokeswoman and was a commentator and communications advisor at Trump Media.
- 51:00SPEAKER_06: Her first briefing ran about 14 minutes.
- 51:03SPEAKER_06: Um sorry, my whole thing just like collapsed on me.
- 51:07SPEAKER_06: Um, let's see.
- 51:08SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 51:08SPEAKER_06: She 14 minutes, blah, blah, blah.
- 51:10SPEAKER_06: Mostly prepared remarks, and she took questions from three outlets before wrapping up because the president was heading out, and Trump said that she did well.
- 51:19SPEAKER_06: Uh, lots of mixed opinions about that.
- 51:21SPEAKER_06: We can watch, if I can pull up the right clip, we'll watch this for a moment.
- 51:25SPEAKER_06: I just I'm only showing a like barely a minute.
- 51:29SPEAKER_05: Good morning.
- 51:34SPEAKER_05: I am so honored to work for President Trump and the American people as the new White House press secretary.
- 51:43SPEAKER_05: I want to thank President Trump for his trust that he has placed in me.
- 51:49SPEAKER_05: I have wanted to work for him for a very long time.
- 51:54SPEAKER_05: I'm looking forward to working with each of you as well.
- 51:58SPEAKER_05: Especially as we are in the middle of the midterm blitz with energy and excitement, never seen before in the history of midterms.
- 52:06SPEAKER_06: She's nervous, she's new, she's in hostile territory.
- 52:11SPEAKER_06: And um I I would like to give her some grace.
- 52:14SPEAKER_06: Yes, her her delivery is not like Caroline, Caroline Levitt.
- 52:19SPEAKER_06: It is not like Kaylee McInney.
- 52:22SPEAKER_06: Um, she's as lovely as both of them.
- 52:25SPEAKER_06: Um, so I I want to give her some grace and give her a chance.
- 52:27SPEAKER_06: Uh for me, it was it looked like a bit of a rough start.
- 52:31SPEAKER_06: Um her, you know, she just I think it's nerves.
- 52:33SPEAKER_06: It's just nerves.
- 52:35SPEAKER_06: I I would like to give her a chance.
- 52:36SPEAKER_06: What do you what are you thinking?
- 52:38SPEAKER_02: Well, I think um one you put them all up on the podium together, they all look like they're related.
- 52:46SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 52:47SPEAKER_02: But I think, yes, she was nervous, and there's a lot of criticism headed her way.
- 52:53SPEAKER_02: Um I I there's not a lot of people who have stood up at that podium and been successful at that job.
- 52:59SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 52:59SPEAKER_02: And interestingly enough, some of the criticism she's getting are from some of the people who who have not been great at that job.
- 53:06SPEAKER_02: I I think one of the people um who I just absolutely despise, Jen Pisacki, uh, has been uh on the top of the list going after her.
- 53:15SPEAKER_02: Um and and so she's gonna take that criticism.
- 53:19SPEAKER_02: Yes, her delivery on day one was not spectacular.
- 53:24SPEAKER_02: Um you know, she's gonna have she's gonna grow into the job, folks.
- 53:29SPEAKER_02: It is what it is.
- 53:30SPEAKER_02: Um and and you know, Else and I were joking before the show, most of the people criticizing her across social media are people who, you know, were trying not to pee their pants in speech class in college or high school, right?
- 53:42SPEAKER_02: They didn't want to get up in front of 32 people in a high school classroom and give a a three-minute speech on whatever, and now they're going after a young lady who's a White House press secretary.
- 53:53SPEAKER_02: Um and so, you know, if you haven't done it, then you should probably keep the criticism to yourself.
- 54:00SPEAKER_02: If she's still acting like that and speaking like that three weeks from now, then yes, there's a problem and they probably need to pull her.
- 54:07SPEAKER_02: But to jump her uh and give her that kind of criticism uh on day one, right, I is is ridiculous.
- 54:14SPEAKER_02: Listen, everybody gets nerves, everybody gets stage fright.
- 54:17SPEAKER_02: Um, and so you know, let's chalk up day one to a not so great day and then see what happens.
- 54:24SPEAKER_02: But nobody wants to give anybody grace, nobody wants to give anybody any leeway.
- 54:29SPEAKER_02: Um, it's got to be perfect from the start.
- 54:31SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 54:31SPEAKER_02: And listen, if we expected perfect from the start, neither Joe Biden nor Kamala Harris would have ever been anywhere near the White House when it comes to college.
- 54:39SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 54:40SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 54:41SPEAKER_06: You want to talk about people who cannot speak publicly.
- 54:43SPEAKER_06: Jeez.
- 54:45SPEAKER_06: Oof.
- 54:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 54:46SPEAKER_02: Some of you out there voted for them.
- 54:48SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 54:48SPEAKER_06: So shame on y'all.
- 54:50SPEAKER_06: Jeez.
- 54:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they're still, they're still thinking they made the right choice back then.
- 54:55SPEAKER_06: Despite everything.
- 54:56SPEAKER_06: So, you know, not the opinions I'm gonna be uh investing too much in.
- 55:00SPEAKER_06: So yeah, I I think um uh like you said, like I said, uh we both said uh let's give her some grace, give her a chance to grow into the role.
- 55:08SPEAKER_06: Uh, you know, she's got huge shoes to to to fill.
- 55:11SPEAKER_06: I mean, um, and I'm sure she has heard that personally hundreds of times uh and read it hundreds of times.
- 55:19SPEAKER_06: So yeah, can that psych you out a little bit?
- 55:22SPEAKER_06: I I'm sure.
- 55:23SPEAKER_06: But now that she got that first one over and done with, um, she, you know, she she stepped into the fire and now she knows she can do it.
- 55:30SPEAKER_06: I I think uh I hope she's gonna, I think I think she's gonna grow into the role.
- 55:34SPEAKER_06: I hope that she does for her sake.
- 55:36SPEAKER_06: You know, I don't like I don't like for, you know, I'm actually a nice person.
- 55:38SPEAKER_06: Some of you don't think so, but I'm actually a nice person.
- 55:41SPEAKER_06: I don't like for people to fail.
- 55:42SPEAKER_06: Um, so I I'd like to see her succeed in the role, especially despite the uh the mean girl crowd out there that just want to bash her.
- 55:50SPEAKER_06: Um what else we got?
- 55:52SPEAKER_02: Just for those of you, uh one more, right?
- 55:55SPEAKER_02: She is literally up against the gold standard.
- 55:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like Caroline Levitt was as close as you're gonna get to perfect as a White House press editor.
- 56:05SPEAKER_02: Um, and like you said, she's been told hundreds of times in the last since the job was offered, and she took the job that she is the shoes she's trying to fill are ridiculous.
- 56:17SPEAKER_02: So, you know, uh everybody like Tom Brady was a backup quarterback.
- 56:24SPEAKER_06: Mm-hmm.
- 56:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, right.
- 56:26SPEAKER_02: Give give her a minute.
- 56:27SPEAKER_02: She'll be okay.
- 56:28SPEAKER_02: It's all right.
- 56:29SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 56:30SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 56:31SPEAKER_06: Uh let's talk about another another Trump girl taking some heat.
- 56:38SPEAKER_06: Well, former Trump girl, I guess we should call her.
- 56:41SPEAKER_06: Uh, the White House has asked Kimberly Gulfoyle to resign as ambassador to Greece after Wall Street Journal reporting about alleged requests that a donor cover a large personal credit card bill and other questions about gifts and access.
- 56:57SPEAKER_06: She denies the wrongdoing, and Trump said he didn't like what he was reading.
- 57:01SPEAKER_06: Uh, being close to the president or his family is not a substitute for fitness for the job.
- 57:06SPEAKER_06: So, you know, that's that's kind of the case we're in.
- 57:09SPEAKER_06: I, you know, let's let's face it.
- 57:11SPEAKER_06: There there are a few things here going on, right?
- 57:14SPEAKER_06: Number one, well, the strike against her number one is that she was married to Gavin Newsom.
- 57:18SPEAKER_06: Let's let's just, you know, let's just kind of scratch our head at that one.
- 57:22SPEAKER_06: Uh she was involved with Don Jr.
- 57:25SPEAKER_06: for years.
- 57:26SPEAKER_06: I mean, I think at least a couple few, right?
- 57:28SPEAKER_06: Um, rumors of engagement, uh, which I don't know if that was ever even confirmed that they were actually engaged.
- 57:34SPEAKER_06: Um, but they split and they, you know, the the gossip around town, meaning the internet, uh, was that she was given a consolation prize of ambassador to Greece.
- 57:45SPEAKER_06: Like just take take this and go away and go do that.
- 57:49SPEAKER_06: Um, is that accurate?
- 57:51SPEAKER_06: You know what?
- 57:51SPEAKER_06: Probably.
- 57:52SPEAKER_06: Probably.
- 57:53SPEAKER_06: It's probably accurate.
- 57:55SPEAKER_06: Um, you know, I can't speak to certainly I can't speak to whether the allegations are true or not.
- 58:01SPEAKER_06: Maybe they are, maybe they aren't.
- 58:02SPEAKER_06: Again, as with everything, we will find out or we won't.
- 58:07SPEAKER_06: She's just out of the job.
- 58:09SPEAKER_06: And uh, you know, I don't know where she'll land next.
- 58:12SPEAKER_06: I think, you know, honestly, Clay, the only thing I I'm taking some umbrage with umbrage with is the man, oh man.
- 58:20SPEAKER_06: I mean, listen, this isn't my first day.
- 58:21SPEAKER_06: It's not my first rodeo, certainly not my first time on the internet, but holy cow, people are mean.
- 58:27SPEAKER_06: Man, oh man, are they vicious?
- 58:29SPEAKER_06: I mean, it's just attack after attack, all about her appearance uh and her looks and everything.
- 58:35SPEAKER_06: And it just, my goodness, I I I just do not like that.
- 58:38SPEAKER_06: We live in the world where everybody is fair game.
- 58:42SPEAKER_06: Just because you're a public figure, you are fair game for everyone to just trash the living daylights out of your appearance.
- 58:49SPEAKER_06: Much like that uh Dell.
- 58:50SPEAKER_06: What's her first name?
- 58:52SPEAKER_06: Oh my gosh.
- 58:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yes, Mike Dell's white.
- 58:56SPEAKER_06: Oh, absolutely uh brutal and disgusting, and just the lowest denominator, lowest version of the human experience, right?
- 59:06SPEAKER_06: To attack people um just because of the way that they look.
- 59:10SPEAKER_06: And by the way, uh the Dell's uh how many like five billion, something like some uh like outrageous amount of money they are spending donating for children.
- 59:22SPEAKER_06: And this is where everybody went with it.
- 59:24SPEAKER_06: Like really, really sick and sad.
- 59:25SPEAKER_06: But as far as uh Kimberly goes, um, yeah, you know, I don't know.
- 59:30SPEAKER_06: If the allegations are true, shame on her.
- 59:32SPEAKER_06: And uh that's probably the least of uh you know what she deserves to happen, probably.
- 59:37SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 59:39SPEAKER_02: What gets me is that this brings it sheds light on the fact that some of these ambassador jobs, and people have known this for a while, you know, like Shirley Temple was an ambassador.
- 59:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right?
- 59:52SPEAKER_02: Like the there are places where we just frankly, if he's given this to for all of the reasons that you said, if any of those are true, if he gave this to her, then frankly, we don't need an ambassador in Greece.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_02: We just don't, right?
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_02: Um and and so Shirley Temple was the ambassador to I think Ghana, right?
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_02: Somewhere in Africa, I think so.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_02: Um, which at the time was much more stable than it is now.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_02: But but you know, I think that there is a portion of this that ambassador positions are traditional in a lot of cases.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_02: Uh that doesn't mean that they should just be handed out to friends and family, like it just shouldn't be a thing, right?
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_02: You do have diplomatic responsibilities.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_02: Clearly, she is not capable of those diplomatic responsibilities.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_02: And so, yeah, it's it we probably need to look at the reevaluate what we use ambassadors for and why we need them.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_02: Because in some places they're hugely important.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_02: In some places, they clearly are not, right?
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_02: And we should probably just have a diplomatic outpost that maybe somebody comes and occupies, and you know, you have an underling who kind of runs protocol in that country, but we don't need a a living diplomat there all the time.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_02: Because if we do, then we should have one.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_02: And right Kimberly Gefoil is not a diplomat.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_06: No, nope, I don't think so.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_06: I don't think so.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_02: There's probably some scrutiny under that whole program.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and and this may be the catalyst for that.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_06: You know, maybe somebody else in that in that world is saying, okay, hang on a second.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_06: We this this was uh, you know, and I the more I think about that as I'm saying it, the more I think that there probably will be, because we know President Trump does not like to be made to look bad.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_06: And this, you know, and at least in his mind, and not wrongly, this could feel like it reflects on him.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_06: I mean, it does, does really, because he gave it to her, right?
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_06: Um, so this probably is going to be a reassessment of that of who gets those uh titles, you know, because like you said, it it is kind of like an honorary thing.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_06: It's, you know, I think um I'm trying to remember, like you said, Shirley Temple, I feel like Audrey Hepburn, um, I think she was like a UN ambassador or something.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_06: She she was like a she, not UN, she was she was an ambassador for something, and she did like wonderful things because she was just a lovely, delightful human.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_06: Um, but yeah, so this might be the catalyst for a little little bit of change in that, maybe a little bit more vetting and a little bit more um, I don't know.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_02: Here you go.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_02: Here's a couple.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_02: Michelle Kwan was the U.S.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_02: ambassador to Belize.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_02: Caroline Kennedy, who grew up in a very political family, yeah, who was not a diplomat, was twice a US ambassador, uh, Japan and Australia.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_02: So there's there's some of that out there that probably we need to take a look at um and and decide, do we or do we not want to do this and do it the right way?
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_02: That's all.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_06: I think like a good question too is like what exactly does the US ambassador do?
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_06: Like, what's in your job discretion?
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_06: Are you just going to parties?
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_06: Are you just saying, hi, we're America and we're nice?
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_06: And like, what are you doing?
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_02: Very much depends on the country they're in, because I've had some interaction with some ambassadors along the way, and some of them are very, very busy, and some of them are Michelle Kwan living in Belize.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_02: So it is what it is.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_06: I mean, I don't know.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_06: It sounds like a kind of pretty cool job.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_06: I uh I'm not volunteering, I've got grandbabies to visit every month.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_06: So, but you know, I'm out.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_02: But I'll take it.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_02: If they need it, if they need an ambassador in Greece, I'll I'll go.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_06: I mean, listen, you're gonna twist my arm for Greece.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_06: I mean, you don't have to twist too hard, right?
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah, especially for Greece.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_06: There's there's a few places where you might be able to get me to go.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_06: Oh my goodness.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_06: All right, we got time for one more.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_06: Are you okay if we do the fun one?
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_06: Look at I already clicked before I even finished asking.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_06: Um, not that it's it's fun.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_06: It it's just listen, it's just a conversation piece.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_06: Um, we're starting with Kelly Clarkson.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_06: She posted about a bad experience at a Brooklyn shop over a mechanical bird that the store claims is not for sale, um, or only a twin of it is, apparently, for$15,000.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_06: So um, so she goes online, she she shares this experience.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_06: She says, uh, I went into this store, really cool place.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_06: I thought it was like rad, was her word.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_06: Looked like a really rad place.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_06: So I went down there.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_06: I was interested in this bird, and she basically got the pretty woman treatment.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_06: Like, you know, the movie, pretty everybody knows the movie, and you should know if you know the movie, you know the scene where she, Julia Roberts' character, goes into this fancy store, and the um the the staff there treats her like garbage, basically, treats her like a peasant uh based on the way she looks and everything, and is very condescending and demeaning to her and blah, blah, blah.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_06: So she likens, she didn't make the comparison, but we're making the comparison.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_06: Um, so she the that's the vibe.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_06: She got that kind of treatment that she was treated like she couldn't afford this thing.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_06: She left the store upset and disappointed, and she shared about it.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_06: She's like, store's really cool.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_06: Y'all are not.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_06: You know, the person I dealt with is not, owner's not.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_06: Um, they subsequently not retaliated, but responded to it with their own video.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_06: Um, and basically saying that's not how it was at all.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_06: I don't, you know, I don't know where she's getting that from.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_06: Um, if the bird was not for sale, and that, you know, that did not happen the way that she did it, bashing her for beating up a small business and they're getting threats and blah, blah, blah, all that stuff.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_06: So it's a lot of back and forth.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_06: And of course, the internet does what the internet does, and that's way in.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_06: Like it is the most important thing in everybody's life to be talking about this.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_06: Um, so there a lot of things have have happened.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_06: Like this has been a really rapid succession of things, right?
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_06: So somebody, I don't know who, got pictures of this particular bird in the store with the price tag next to it,$15,000.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_06: So that was like the first retaliation.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_06: Like, hang on a second, they're saying it wasn't for sale.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_06: Uh yeah, it is.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_06: It's for sale.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_06: Here's a picture.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_06: I have proof, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_06: Somebody else made a video saying I was treated the same way in that store like a year ago or two years ago.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_06: So you got that side.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_06: And then of course you've got the defenders of the store that are saying, like, you know, that's not the case.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_06: Blah, blah, blah.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_06: End of story.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_06: Well, not end of story, but current story is that that bird is now 15 million dollars.
- 1:06:21unknown: Yeah.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_06: So I mean, what the heck?
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_06: I I I do, I mean, as if we care, but we're gonna play it anyhow.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_06: I have the have the surveillance video.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_06: So Kelly is the one in yellow.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_06: I mean, this whole this whole thing is so stupid.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_06: So both sides are using this video as if it proves something.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_06: And I maybe I'm not seeing something.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_06: Uh you will, Clay.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_06: I don't think it helps or hurts either one of them because there's no sound.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_06: All it is you see the interaction.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_06: So she's in yellow in the uh, what is this?
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_06: The right corner of the screen.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_06: She's talking to people, looking around.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_06: I don't know if she's got people with her.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_06: Um store's actually pretty busy, so that's impressive.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_06: Good for them because it's like a small, you know, mom and pop shop.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_06: It's not like a chain or anything.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_06: Um, so she's talking to an employee now who looks like he'd be just a customer himself.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_06: He's got his coffee, he's chilling.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_06: You can see from his side of it.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_06: I can't tell anything.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_06: I can't tell if he's being condescending, but some people are interpreting it as it is.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_06: Others are saying that he's just being friendly.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_06: They go on for, I don't know, however long this goes on for.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_06: Doesn't look like anybody's yelling.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_06: She's nodding her head.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_06: I mean, I'm sorry, I'm looking at it and just looks like two people having a conversation.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_06: I'm maybe I'm not a good body language reader, I don't know.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's like you said, I don't think this does anything for anyone except for prove that she was in the store.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_02: That's really about it.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_06: I mean, that's really it.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_06: So everybody watching this, I mean, God bless them that they're seeing so much more than I'm seeing.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_06: Um, but the last part, I don't know, I already missed it.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_06: The last part of that showed her at the entrance or exit of the store.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_06: Kind of looks like she is not yelling, but street, you know, speaking strongly.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_06: That part it kind of looked like, and then she leaves the store.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_06: And then I guess she goes and tweets about it.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_06: So I mean, I don't know.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_06: Are you a team small store or are you team Kelly, or do you just don't care?
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_02: I I don't care.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_02: Um, and and you know, within hours of this whole thing breaking, you also had, you know, Selma Blair, who um, again, these two women have a very kind of America sweetheart.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_02: And I listen, Selma Blair's had some issues in the past, but right.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_02: She's battling MS.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_02: She has been for a number of years.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_02: She's been very public about it.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and so she was on a flight into JFK, uh, got violent on the flight, uh, assaulted a flight attendant when they lay.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_02: They didn't have to divert the flight, thankfully.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_02: They bring the police on board, she assaults a police officer, uh, and then was immediately arrested and taken to court and is potentially facing seven years in jail.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_02: So, you know, with these two things in rapid succession, you know, it begs the question like the image of these two women is has been very much like who doesn't love Kelly Clarkson, right?
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_02: You know, um she is America's sweetheart, let's go.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_02: America's sweetheart, right?
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_02: And you know, Selma Blair kind of fits in the same category.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_02: She's been in Hollywood since she was a young teenager.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_02: And and, you know, again, she did a couple of young, 20-year-old stupid things along the way, but but nothing crazy.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_02: And now you've got both of these in rapid succession.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_02: So it makes you wonder, and this is my only point in this entire discussion, is it makes you all of us should take everything that we see with a grain of salt because we just don't know.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_02: We don't know if Kelly Clarkson was a jerk to that store staff.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_02: This is a he said she said they could have been jerks to her, and she could be the sweetest person that we all see or be on TV.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_02: Um, don't know.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_02: You know, Salmer Blair's the same way.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_02: I will tell you though, that there have been a couple of incidences of people that were so well liked on TV that one turn ruined them.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_02: And I mean ruined them.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_02: Like Ellen DeGeneres, all right, ruined, right?
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_02: When it came out that she was mean, ruined.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_02: That was James Corden, ruined, right?
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_02: That guy has been surviving by the skin of his teeth.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_02: Uh, once he treated a waitress-like crap with some witnesses.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_02: So, you know, um, it's it's one of those things that we don't know.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_02: We we think we know, we have these opinions and these images of these people, and the reality is that we just don't know.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_02: Um people that we believe to be so sweet and and all of those things, they're real people, and you know, Hollywood is just full of images.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_06: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_06: And listen, I'm fair enough to say that, you know, one person's perception of a celebrity when they see them in the real world, when they see them out in public, um, may not be an accurate reflection of their personality.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_06: You know, these are people who are, you know, treated um, well, they're treated like property.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_06: I mean, they're treated like they're better than everybody in that they're special and important.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_06: So that in itself is a problem, a different kind of problem.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_06: Um, but they're also treated like public property.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_06: So, you know, you're if you're out in the public and you're just trying to go to the store, like you're just trying, like you're not doing it as a photo op, you're not doing it for attention, like you're just trying to go to the store and get some milk and eggs.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_06: And people are, you know, coming up to you and sticking their camera in your face and saying, take a picture with me, I want your autograph, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_06: They do have a right to say no.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_06: You know, they can't, it they're not your property.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_06: So, you know, I have mixed feelings about like the whole thing.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_06: Like, are they being like somebody, you know, says, Oh, this celebrity is the rudest person I ever met and they're terrible.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_06: Like, what were the circumstances of that meeting?
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_06: We're like, you're sticking your phone in their face, are you, you know, are they with their kids and you're like coming up to them?
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_06: And, you know, so uh it goes back to it's kind of like part of the theme of our conversation, interestingly.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_06: It's like you again, like you said, I'll echo you again.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_06: Um, you got to take everything with a grain of salt, like question everything and and um, you know, I don't know, what fruits does it bear, I guess, is is the final conclusion.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_06: Does does it is it sound?
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_06: Does it make sense?
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_06: Does it hold up to scrutiny?
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_06: And you know, if the answer is no, then you you probably don't want to call it a truth, you know?
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_06: That's that's my thought process on it, Clay.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's um, you know, we one, we shouldn't care as much as we do.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we just we just shouldn't.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_02: Um but two to again take it all at face value, um, dig a little bit deeper than than that, understand that everything in Hollywood is an image.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, uh what it we went through three or four or five years of be body positive from a number of people, and then suddenly, you know, um Lizzo is down 150 pounds, and you know, like everybody it just you you can't buy into it all, folks.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_02: You just you just can't for your own sanity, mental well-being, whatever you want to call it, just yeah, you know, take it, take it at face value, but don't don't buy into it as much.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_02: And we just really, really, really shouldn't care as much as we do about Hollywood.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_02: We just shouldn't.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_06: So you just shouldn't.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_06: However, you all should just care so much about what we have to say.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_06: That's the most important thing.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_02: Come back every week, right?
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_06: I mean it's right at the end of the day, guys.
- 1:13:34SPEAKER_06: It's really all about what we think and what we have to say, right?
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_06: Oh my goodness, yeah.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_06: Well, on that note, it was great to be back.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_06: Uh missed hanging out with you all last week.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_06: Um, but the babies took precedence, sorry, and of course Reacher for you did as well.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_06: Priorities, folks.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_06: Um, but this was uh a great, great show.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_06: I enjoyed it very much.
- 1:13:57SPEAKER_06: I hope y'all did too.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_06: Clay, uh, you want to close them out with our final blah blah blah.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_02: We're happy to be back and uh love y'all and thanks for tuning in, as always for me.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_02: When in doubt, keep moving, keep shooting.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_00: Take care, guys.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_00: The headlines will change by tomorrow, but the patterns won't.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_00: Thanks for spending this time with us.
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_00: We'll be back to keep asking the harder questions and telling the quieter truths.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_00: Until then, stay grounded, be discerning, and we'll see you next time.
