- 1:00Speaker 1: Come on, all right, man, it's the end of the
- 1:05Speaker 1: year and you know, every year, like I like kind
- 1:07Speaker 1: of try to put my own top ten albums of
- 1:10Speaker 1: the Year list out.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Shout out to beat Out. He does it every year.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Everyone looks forward to it, and then I kind of
- 1:14Speaker 1: put mine out, and I wanted to just take a
- 1:17Speaker 1: moment because like we want to start doing more these
- 1:19Speaker 1: YouTube videos. We're just kind of talking about what's going
- 1:21Speaker 1: on news, et cetera. But I wanted to break down
- 1:23Speaker 1: my top ten hip hop albums of the year, and
- 1:29Speaker 1: this was probably, in my opinion, like twenty twenty five
- 1:33Speaker 1: was probably the best year for hip hop in terms
- 1:35Speaker 1: of just like you know, totality of just quality projects,
- 1:40Speaker 1: like in a long time. I kind of feel like
- 1:42Speaker 1: twenty twenty was up there too, but twenty twenty five, man,
- 1:46Speaker 1: it was really tough to kind of like point it
- 1:48Speaker 1: down to ten albums. So we do have honorable mentions,
- 1:54Speaker 1: and I left the Cardi B album off the honorable mentions,
- 1:58Speaker 1: which that fire.
- 2:00Speaker 2: There's a lot of albums are fire.
- 2:01Speaker 1: But let's go through some of these honorable mentions before
- 2:04Speaker 1: we do the top ten hip hop albums of the year.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Evidence un Learning Volume two. Shout out to ev Man
- 2:12Speaker 1: EV's on a Run Right now I'm super excited to
- 2:15Speaker 1: see what he's gonna do in twenty twenty six. But
- 2:18Speaker 1: La Legend, you know, a third of Dilated People's an
- 2:21Speaker 1: incredible solo artist had an incredible body of work this year.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Ben Riley, who in my opinion, is one of the
- 2:29Speaker 1: future go to the rap game. Him, Chris Patrick, Marco
- 2:34Speaker 1: plus samar Sin, they're kind of leading like the new
- 2:37Speaker 1: wave of what is going on. In his album he dropped.
- 2:41Speaker 1: This year's save was incredible. Shouts to Atlanta the new
- 2:44Speaker 1: Earl Sweatshirt album. This is like super high on a
- 2:48Speaker 1: lot of people's lists. Liv Laugh Love definitely needs to
- 2:51Speaker 1: be mentioned. This is an album that was tricky because
- 2:56Speaker 1: I didn't include it in the top ten list because
- 2:59Speaker 1: it's like a country fusion album. But I just want
- 3:02Speaker 1: to give some love to the Big X the plug
- 3:04Speaker 1: I hope your Happy album. It's like him rapping and
- 3:07Speaker 1: it's all country hooks. But dude, it is like perfectly done,
- 3:11Speaker 1: Like it's not corny. The songwriter's incredible. It flows perfectly.
- 3:16Speaker 1: It's concise, Big X delivered. You know, when you do
- 3:21Speaker 1: think about like a hip hop country album from somebody
- 3:25Speaker 1: who doesn't sing, you'd be like, I don't know, this
- 3:27Speaker 1: shit might suck.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Not Big X delivered that album is crazy. I hope
- 3:31Speaker 2: you're happy.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Mob Deep Infinite another album that could have just was
- 3:36Speaker 1: right there. Man.
- 3:37Speaker 2: You know, I'm such a big Mob Deep fan.
- 3:39Speaker 1: And the fact that Havoc and Alchemists were able to
- 3:44Speaker 1: put together this album and it's just sounds so seamless,
- 3:48Speaker 1: like prodig you're still here with us, Like certain parts
- 3:51Speaker 1: of the album, like I kind of got emotional listen
- 3:53Speaker 1: to it because it really just felt like a new
- 3:55Speaker 1: Mob Deep album.
- 3:58Speaker 2: And they delivered.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Man uh shot to Mass Appeal for everything they did
- 4:02Speaker 1: this year too. I think we definitely got to show
- 4:05Speaker 1: love Mass Appeal this year. We got to Slick Rick album,
- 4:07Speaker 1: we got a Noaz and DJ premiere album, we got
- 4:09Speaker 1: a day Lost Soul album, we got Big L, we
- 4:12Speaker 1: got ghost Face, we got Ray Kwan, we got Mob Deep.
- 4:16Speaker 1: So Mass Appeal, thank you for just delivering on a
- 4:21Speaker 1: fucking awesome twenty twenty five and just helping keep like
- 4:28Speaker 1: that real rap shit alive. I want to give a
- 4:30Speaker 1: shout out to key Clock because that Glackavelli came out
- 4:33Speaker 1: early this year. That shit was fire. I mean key Glock,
- 4:39Speaker 1: I was. You know, Rick Ross kind of is known
- 4:41Speaker 1: to have like just the crazy ear for beats. I
- 4:44Speaker 1: always say he's got one of the best ears for
- 4:46Speaker 1: production ever made. Key Glock is on his head. Man
- 4:49Speaker 1: Keey Glock know how to pick some bangers. Man shout
- 4:51Speaker 1: to Key Clock that Glockavelli was crazy. I don't think
- 4:55Speaker 1: enough people talked about how good the Whis Khalifa album was,
- 4:57Speaker 1: either Cushion Orangs two. That Kushion o'js man was incredible.
- 5:01Speaker 1: It's probably my favorite Whiz album. He's had mixtapes and
- 5:06Speaker 1: stuff that I loved, but in terms of like an
- 5:11Speaker 1: official Whiz album, this is my favorite Whiz album since
- 5:15Speaker 1: Rolling Papers.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Loved it.
- 5:21Speaker 1: And also I want to give a shout out to
- 5:22Speaker 1: my woite Caski, who had an album that was called
- 5:24Speaker 1: Black Sheep five that you know, for whatever reason, Caski
- 5:28Speaker 1: doesn't get a lot of respect. I don't know if
- 5:30Speaker 1: he's a white boy or I don't know, but Caski
- 5:33Speaker 1: delivered an incredible album this year, Black Sheep five, the
- 5:37Speaker 1: fifth volume of.
- 5:39Speaker 2: His Black Sheep series.
- 5:41Speaker 1: There's bars on there, there's crazy production on there, crazy
- 5:44Speaker 1: song concepts on there. He used to be signed with
- 5:47Speaker 1: Cash money for a reason because he's incredible. So shout
- 5:49Speaker 1: out to CASKI. But let's get to it, man, the
- 5:52Speaker 1: top ten albums of the year. We're gonna start with
- 5:54Speaker 1: number ten. I want to give a shout out to
- 5:57Speaker 1: our brother, good friend of the show recently got credit
- 6:00Speaker 1: for some of the songs that made this album. In
- 6:02Speaker 1: an interview, he did Conway the Machine Man, let's talk
- 6:06Speaker 1: about it. Conway the Machine number ten, You Can't Kuild
- 6:11Speaker 1: God with Bullets. Shout out to Conway. This was personally
- 6:19Speaker 1: my favorite Conway album since twenty twenty, since from a
- 6:26Speaker 1: King to a God. So Conway's had moments that I
- 6:32Speaker 1: love and albums that I've loved since then. But to me,
- 6:35Speaker 1: this album delivered. It's crazy because it came at the
- 6:38Speaker 1: end of the year, so it's like it came that
- 6:40Speaker 1: same day we got Nasen Primo and twenty one Savage
- 6:42Speaker 1: and Chris Patrick's album. By the way, Chris Patrick's album
- 6:45Speaker 1: definitely deserves to be mentioned from top end of the year.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But Conway, Man, this album is incredible. It shows us
- 6:55Speaker 1: why we love them, like Conway the Machine number ten,
- 6:57Speaker 1: You Can't Kill God with Bullets. Keeping that drum work
- 7:01Speaker 1: flag flying and delivering to the fans. Man shouts to Conway.
- 7:05Speaker 1: So number nine, let's move on this one again could
- 7:11Speaker 1: have been higher, but I feel like this whole list
- 7:14Speaker 1: kind of can just be interchangeable. But we got to
- 7:16Speaker 1: give some love to walle Man Wala. Everything is a
- 7:18Speaker 1: lot in terms of just like listening experience. Like I
- 7:23Speaker 1: told Walle this in San Diego last week. I was like, Bro,
- 7:25Speaker 1: you have like a whole album of singles, Like this
- 7:28Speaker 1: whole damn album is singles and vibes. It's vulnerable, the
- 7:33Speaker 1: features are incredible, and there's just joints on here man,
- 7:37Speaker 1: Like it's a whole album of joints. And then you
- 7:40Speaker 1: got like a song like the song he has with
- 7:41Speaker 1: Shaboozie that's like different the Michael Corleone record, which is different,
- 7:45Speaker 1: but just joints on joints. This might be the best
- 7:50Speaker 1: walle album and if it's not, its second place my
- 7:53Speaker 1: favorite ambition A shout out to wale Man numb nine.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Let's keep it moving. Number eight, Dave.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I don't know what it is about us in the States,
- 8:01Speaker 1: but we can never give the bruhs from the UK
- 8:05Speaker 1: enough flowers, or any flowers for that matter, Dave is
- 8:10Speaker 1: probably one of the greatest rappers in the last decade,
- 8:13Speaker 1: and he's the most vulnerable artist alive in my opinion,
- 8:19Speaker 1: and he delivered. Man. You know, when he dropped the
- 8:23Speaker 1: EP with Central C two years ago, I had that
- 8:26Speaker 1: up there for the year. It was only four songs,
- 8:29Speaker 1: but that was more him being braggadosis and talking that shit,
- 8:32Speaker 1: going back and forth with See, this is the Dave
- 8:35Speaker 1: that I love. All Right, So Dave number eight, the
- 8:37Speaker 1: boy who played the hart Man, let's start putting some
- 8:39Speaker 1: fucking respect on the UK and their MC's let's keep
- 8:42Speaker 1: it moving. Number seven, let's talk about Ravaon. Man, he's
- 8:47Speaker 1: gonna be super mad. He's number seven, by the way,
- 8:49Speaker 1: ran into him and can't flog down. We had an argument,
- 8:51Speaker 1: but the good, the bad, the dollar menu Ravon I
- 8:58Speaker 1: talked about Dave being vulnerable. Rayvaughn is special man, and
- 9:03Speaker 1: to me this was like the first time we've seen
- 9:06Speaker 1: Ravon freestyles. We've seen like even before he signed with TDE,
- 9:11Speaker 1: he would have these like crazy vulnerable, like barring out
- 9:14Speaker 1: in his front seat of the car freestyles that would
- 9:17Speaker 1: go viral. And he's been with TD for a long
- 9:19Speaker 1: time and he's dropped music with TDE. But I do
- 9:22Speaker 1: feel like finally this body of work illustrated and displayed
- 9:29Speaker 1: what I know about ray and that's that he is
- 9:33Speaker 1: like a one of one and he's you know, Rayvaon
- 9:36Speaker 1: has music that will like literally make me cry. There's
- 9:41Speaker 1: a song on this album called Shasta. I think it's
- 9:43Speaker 1: called Shasta, and it's speaking about his mom's battle with alcoholism,
- 9:48Speaker 1: and fuck man it is. It is deep, dude, and
- 9:53Speaker 1: another album that could have been higher. I just don't
- 9:57Speaker 1: understand how people are making these albums of the Year list.
- 10:00Speaker 1: They're not recognizing what Rayvon's doing. The good, the bad,
- 10:03Speaker 1: the dollar menu. There's vulnerable shit on there, there's slaps
- 10:05Speaker 1: on there. Rayvon will be a future just household name
- 10:12Speaker 1: in this rap shit TDE for the usual. They're just
- 10:14Speaker 1: batt in a thousand man. So shouts to ravon number seven.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Moving on number six, j I D. God does like ugly.
- 10:25Speaker 1: J I D is kind of quickly like carving his
- 10:30Speaker 1: way into like whatever Tier is like right below when
- 10:35Speaker 1: we talk about j Cole or Kendrick or used to
- 10:38Speaker 1: talk about Drake, Sorry, I feel like j I D
- 10:43Speaker 1: is like getting like he's he's kind of like him,
- 10:48Speaker 1: you know, uh, guys like Freddie, guys like Big Sean,
- 10:53Speaker 1: they're just in that space right beneath that tier that
- 10:56Speaker 1: we kind of consider like the Mount rushmore of like
- 10:59Speaker 1: this era. But Jid is kind of like he's really
- 11:03Speaker 1: just missing, like a real, real single off of this album,
- 11:08Speaker 1: Like Skate was cool with Sierra, but I think like
- 11:11Speaker 1: Community with the clips that Bob the builderline, the intro
- 11:15Speaker 1: with Westside Gun talking that shit Like Jid is one
- 11:20Speaker 1: of the greatest rappers alive and this body of work
- 11:24Speaker 1: is incredible. I think it's his second best album. Finding
- 11:30Speaker 1: Forever for me will always be just goaded. But shout
- 11:33Speaker 1: out to Jid for delivering an incredible body work and
- 11:36Speaker 1: delivering an incredible tour and just continuing to be like
- 11:39Speaker 1: a one of one.
- 11:40Speaker 2: In the game. Man. So number six Gid, moving on,
- 11:43Speaker 2: let's DWAYE. I have the album right here. Yeah.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I bought this with my own money. Chance wouldn't give
- 11:52Speaker 1: it to me, so cash Aptain twenty bucks?
- 11:54Speaker 2: Was it twenty Chance? The rapper?
- 11:56Speaker 1: Number five star Line should have been nominated for a Grammy.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I gotta say this about Chance, man, I loved Acid Rap.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I loved the Ten Day Mixtape.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I did not.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Love Coloring Book as much as the rest of the world.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Not to say that it wasn't bad, Like it wasn't good,
- 12:20Speaker 1: it was incredible. People loved it. This would kind of
- 12:22Speaker 1: cross them over. And what's crazy is the album they
- 12:25Speaker 1: came out with after that that was about getting married.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I actually kind of liked. But this album.
- 12:31Speaker 1: If you think about like kind of like Chance as
- 12:35Speaker 1: somebody who was like positioned to be like the next goat,
- 12:43Speaker 1: the next face of hip hop, it was Chance and
- 12:48Speaker 1: for whatever reason, he puts this album out about being
- 12:51Speaker 1: married and.
- 12:54Speaker 2: How excited he is.
- 12:55Speaker 1: The Big Day album is what it was called, I Apologize,
- 12:59Speaker 1: and it's like people didn't like it, and so like
- 13:02Speaker 1: it just felt like hip hop kind of turned their
- 13:04Speaker 1: back on Chance in this like weird way. He also
- 13:09Speaker 1: was like super overexposed. He was doing a lot of
- 13:10Speaker 1: Shape We Show some a bunch of TV shows, He
- 13:12Speaker 1: was in commercials. But like, the bottom line is Chance
- 13:15Speaker 1: is like a generationally talented artist and to see him
- 13:21Speaker 1: deliver this album, which in my opinion, the subject matter
- 13:28Speaker 1: of this album is super important for the times we're
- 13:32Speaker 1: living in, you know, speaking out against ice you know,
- 13:36Speaker 1: even like the ship he's talking about with like the
- 13:38Speaker 1: weed industry and you know black people being boxed out
- 13:41Speaker 1: of that industry. I mean, Ride would do or Die.
- 13:47Speaker 1: There's so much on this album that is just crazy.
- 13:53Speaker 1: My favorite was Letters. Letters was like a bunch of
- 13:58Speaker 1: different perspectives where he's like kind of speaking from the
- 14:01Speaker 1: perspective of preachers and it's it's kind of like a
- 14:08Speaker 1: He told me that he had to kind of clear
- 14:11Speaker 1: it with his pastor before he released it, but man,
- 14:14Speaker 1: go listen to that. But the Chance album, it's spectacular.
- 14:20Speaker 1: It could have been higher, but we only got you know,
- 14:24Speaker 1: we only got a top five now, So let's move
- 14:27Speaker 1: on Chance to wrap your number five what deserved now.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Daylas Soul Cabin in the Sky this was my favorite
- 14:35Speaker 1: album out of all of the Mass Appeal releases this year.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I want to give a shout out to day Law because, man,
- 14:44Speaker 1: this you want to talk about an emotional journey, This album,
- 14:51Speaker 1: which was very much dedicated to you know, Dave who
- 14:57Speaker 1: passed away. Man, it's just masterfully done, insane features. Obviously,
- 15:05Speaker 1: NAS has been on every single Mass Appeal released this year,
- 15:08Speaker 1: but I feel like for day Las Soul to come
- 15:10Speaker 1: out in twenty twenty five and deliver such an incredible
- 15:14Speaker 1: body of work. It's just impressive. Man, the secret, seeing
- 15:21Speaker 1: the skits, everything just it's just such a seamless, amazing,
- 15:26Speaker 1: damn near perfect hip hop album. And day La soul
- 15:31Speaker 1: Man putting another point on the board for the Ogs
- 15:33Speaker 1: in twenty twenty five. Salute to day La and shout
- 15:35Speaker 1: out to Mass Appeal again for giving us an amazing
- 15:39Speaker 1: run of legendary hip hop artist drops this year. Dayla
- 15:43Speaker 1: though Man number four, shout out to day La. So
- 15:45Speaker 1: go watch our interview too. We talked a lot about
- 15:47Speaker 1: the album Cabin in the Sky number four. Number three
- 15:50Speaker 1: could have.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Been number two or one.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Listen Larry June, Two Chains, Alchemist. Look, this album dropped
- 16:03Speaker 1: in February. I think I still listen to this album.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Damn near every day life is fucking beautiful. I mean,
- 16:11Speaker 1: Larry June and two Chains, it's almost like they were
- 16:15Speaker 1: made for each other. Like I know that sounds hella crazy,
- 16:18Speaker 1: but like musically, like when you hear these two guys
- 16:21Speaker 1: just going back and forth in the most effortless flyway
- 16:26Speaker 1: over Alchemists production, it is it is. It's like, why
- 16:30Speaker 1: didn't we get this sooner, and I just hope that,
- 16:33Speaker 1: like this isn't the final time these guys do an
- 16:37Speaker 1: album together.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Please do Life is Beautiful?
- 16:39Speaker 1: Two? Do Life is Beautiful three? Just we need two
- 16:43Speaker 1: chains Larry, June and al to make music together forever.
- 16:48Speaker 1: And I got to see them live at Camp flognaw
- 16:50Speaker 1: do a lot of these songs live and it was
- 16:52Speaker 1: fucking awesome. Shout out to both of these guys, they're
- 16:54Speaker 1: both legends, and shout out to the Alchemist. And with
- 16:59Speaker 1: that being said, number two album of the year, The Alchemist,
- 17:03Speaker 1: Freddy Gibbs Alfredo two. That's right, this was I'm not
- 17:10Speaker 1: gonna lie, man, it was close for me to make
- 17:11Speaker 1: this the number one album of the year, and a lot
- 17:13Speaker 1: of people will always be like, well, Freddy's your boy,
- 17:15Speaker 1: Like yeah, but it just is what it is. This
- 17:19Speaker 1: is to me a classic album. I think it rivals
- 17:23Speaker 1: Alfredo one. I actually think I know this sounds crazy.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I think I take Alfredo two over Alfredo one, which
- 17:36Speaker 1: I thought was the album of the year in twenty twenty.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Freddy Gibbs is, you know, for my money, one of
- 17:42Speaker 1: the greatest rappers of all time. I think if you
- 17:44Speaker 1: wanted to be like super honest with that conversation, catalog,
- 17:49Speaker 1: body of work, body to work, skill set, all that.
- 17:51Speaker 1: He's a top ten guy ever. Alchemist. If you want
- 17:56Speaker 1: to talk about the MVP of twenty twenty five in
- 17:59Speaker 1: hip hop, it's Alchemist. I mean, Jesus, the amount of work,
- 18:03Speaker 1: quality work this got put out this year just incredible. Man,
- 18:08Speaker 1: it was worth the way we had to wait five years.
- 18:10Speaker 1: The last one got Grammy nominated, this one got snubbed.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Shout out to Freddy, Shout out to Al. It's a
- 18:17Speaker 1: lot of one of my favorite songs of the year. Man,
- 18:19Speaker 1: Skinny Shook two. Freddy, I mean, Freddy goes crazy all
- 18:22Speaker 1: over this fucking project. And again, Freddy and Al together,
- 18:27Speaker 1: please don't stop making music together. We need Alfredo three.
- 18:31Speaker 1: And that was also one of the coolest tour moments
- 18:34Speaker 1: of the year. I got to go see the Alfredo
- 18:35Speaker 1: two tour two nights in a row Man and it
- 18:38Speaker 1: was it was incredible. So shout out to Freddy, shout
- 18:41Speaker 1: and the rollout, oh yeah, the rollout was crazy.
- 18:43Speaker 2: They did a whole movie. Jesus, Yeah, the movie was crazy.
- 18:47Speaker 1: They went to Tokyo and they filmed all kinds of
- 18:49Speaker 1: shit and like again, shout out to Lambeau because Lambo
- 18:52Speaker 1: Freddy's manager, he builds this Alfredo universe. So they got
- 18:55Speaker 1: these crazy they got the comic books, they got the
- 18:57Speaker 1: merch but the rollout was wild. But no one's rollout
- 19:05Speaker 1: was fucking with number one. I am talking about the
- 19:08Speaker 1: most obvious choice for the number one album of the year,
- 19:13Speaker 1: and I know everyone's picking Clips. Let God sort them out,
- 19:16Speaker 1: but it is what it is. Everyone's just being super honest.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Got to give a shout out to the Clips for
- 19:22Speaker 1: anybody who knows. I've had this on the wall for
- 19:26Speaker 1: a long time. I've screamed at Jim Jones about push
- 19:29Speaker 1: a T. I am a Clips head and I've been
- 19:35Speaker 1: wanting a new Clips album. It's been since nine, I
- 19:38Speaker 1: think since still the casket drops dropped and like you
- 19:44Speaker 1: kind of are like, okay, push a T since two
- 19:46Speaker 1: thousand and nine has had this crazy solo run with
- 19:49Speaker 1: good music, and he's had his own classics like Daytona. Uh,
- 19:56Speaker 1: but like what happens when they come back together, like
- 19:58Speaker 1: what is this gonna sound like? Know? And man, it
- 20:03Speaker 1: kind of like breathed new breadth into me as a
- 20:07Speaker 1: hip hop fan. It made me feel so good about
- 20:09Speaker 1: rap this year because I have been like, man, some
- 20:14Speaker 1: of this shit that's cracking out here is it's just
- 20:17Speaker 1: like it can drain you if you're like, you know,
- 20:20Speaker 1: an old head like me. So when you have Clips
- 20:22Speaker 1: come out and not only put out an album that,
- 20:26Speaker 1: in my opinion is their best album, and that is
- 20:30Speaker 1: a crazy thing to say because they also have this album.
- 20:34Speaker 2: S right, so one of the greatest albums of all time.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Hell hath No Fury?
- 20:43Speaker 1: I think that let God's Soarn Them out is better
- 20:46Speaker 1: And I think Pharrell is in his fucking bag on
- 20:50Speaker 1: this album. He is definitely like the third member of
- 20:53Speaker 1: the Clips on this project, which he's always been. Malice
- 20:58Speaker 1: is rapping like the I mean, can you imagine coming back.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I think Malice is fifty two you've been kind of
- 21:07Speaker 1: I mean he put out too no Malice projects you
- 21:09Speaker 1: know that were dope. But for Malice to kind of
- 21:12Speaker 1: like come back into the game as one half of
- 21:18Speaker 1: the Clips do every These guys did every interview, including us,
- 21:23Speaker 1: so shout out to them. They didn't run from the music,
- 21:26Speaker 1: and they would always say that we want to do
- 21:28Speaker 1: all of the press because we're not running from our
- 21:30Speaker 1: music right, Like a lot of artists don't want to
- 21:33Speaker 1: do a bunch of press because they don't want they
- 21:34Speaker 1: get uncomfortable and they' asked certain questions about shit. They
- 21:36Speaker 1: were like, we are not running from the music. We
- 21:40Speaker 1: want to face it. They did all the right media.
- 21:43Speaker 1: The merch drops were fucking insane. I don't know if
- 21:47Speaker 1: you guys knew how. I probably spent twenty five hundred
- 21:51Speaker 1: to three thousand dollars on clips merged this year, which
- 21:54Speaker 1: is a lot.
- 21:54Speaker 2: With that being.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Said, back to the album. The album itself, Man, you
- 22:00Speaker 1: want to talk about probably the best hook of the
- 22:02Speaker 1: year Fiico like that fight Oh hook is crazy Malice's
- 22:05Speaker 1: verse on their screen. I mean Malice probably has three
- 22:07Speaker 1: Verse of the Year contenders on here. The Birds Don't
- 22:09Speaker 1: Sing nominated for a Grammy, one of the most beautiful
- 22:12Speaker 1: songs ever, and the album kicks off with the.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Birds Don't Sing. That's fucking crazy.
- 22:19Speaker 1: It's such an introspective, sad song, but it's a beautiful song.
- 22:23Speaker 1: It's about them rapping to their parents, you know, like
- 22:26Speaker 1: each each one of them rapping a verse for their
- 22:28Speaker 1: mom and their dad. And you know, we got POV
- 22:34Speaker 1: with the Tyler, the Tyler versus fucking crazy. I just
- 22:41Speaker 1: feel like the Clips owned hip hop in twenty twenty five,
- 22:45Speaker 1: And if that's the case, hip hop is in a
- 22:48Speaker 1: good place. Man. You know, If the best music to
- 22:52Speaker 1: come out of twenty twenty five was like The Clips
- 22:55Speaker 1: moving over one hundred thousand units in the first week
- 22:59Speaker 1: and selling out their whole tour and getting nominated for
- 23:04Speaker 1: Best Rap Album of the Year and Best Album of
- 23:06Speaker 1: the Year, overall, we're in a good place. So like
- 23:11Speaker 1: in twenty twenty five, we have had to deal with
- 23:14Speaker 1: the narrative of a lot of people saying hip hop's
- 23:16Speaker 1: dying because of this billboard bullshit. Fuck the Billboard charts, bro.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Hip hop started underground. Hip hop started in the streets. Bro,
- 23:24Speaker 1: Like this shit ain't about streaming numbers. Fuck all that shit,
- 23:26Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And so for me, the
- 23:29Speaker 1: crowning jewel of twenty twenty five, as we're at the
- 23:31Speaker 1: end of it, and two brothers, one of them's in
- 23:35Speaker 1: their fifties, I think Pushing T's knocking on fifty are
- 23:39Speaker 1: the biggest story of the year. I mean, and it's
- 23:43Speaker 1: because they put out just a quality, classic body of
- 23:49Speaker 1: work and everything they did the attention to detail, everything
- 23:54Speaker 1: was on purpose, everything was with intent. They performed at
- 23:56Speaker 1: the Vatican, like the Clips performed at the Vatican this year.
- 24:00Speaker 1: That's insane, the first rappers to ever do that. So
- 24:04Speaker 1: it's like, if that's where we are as a culture,
- 24:08Speaker 1: where like the Clips are being embraced right a year
- 24:11Speaker 1: after we get out of this crazy beef in which
- 24:14Speaker 1: like Kendrick Lamar becomes the biggest shit ever in shout
- 24:17Speaker 1: to Kendrick who had that dopest tour, I mean, the
- 24:19Speaker 1: biggest tour of the year. You know, I think we're
- 24:22Speaker 1: in a good place in twenty twenty five. So shouts
- 24:24Speaker 1: of the Clips album of the year. Let God sort
- 24:27Speaker 1: them out front to back, no skips, there's this is
- 24:30Speaker 1: a perfect album. It's a classic and they deserve all
- 24:34Speaker 1: the praise and they got me feeling good. I want
- 24:36Speaker 1: to say a couple of things about twenty twenty five.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I want to give some props to Meek Mills verse
- 24:43Speaker 1: on Proud of Me on the Friday album. That's one
- 24:45Speaker 1: of my favorite verses of the year. I also want
- 24:48Speaker 1: to give props to play with Cardi because Playboo Carti's
- 24:50Speaker 1: album had some shit on there. I really enjoyed, and
- 24:52Speaker 1: I'm an old head, but the Cardi album there was
- 24:54Speaker 1: like four or five joints on there that just just
- 24:56Speaker 1: work out fuel. So shouts to Carti. The NBA Young
- 25:00Speaker 1: Boy Tour. I went to the NBA Young Boy Tour,
- 25:04Speaker 1: and as in terms of as an experience, I'm pretty
- 25:07Speaker 1: much went to all the tours this year, but in
- 25:10Speaker 1: terms of like just an overall experience of me like
- 25:13Speaker 1: being like, oh shit, this is this is crazy. I'm
- 25:16Speaker 1: glad I came to this. It feels like history. The
- 25:19Speaker 1: NBA Young Boy Tour was that for me this year.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Obviously the Kendricks says the tour was crazy, but to me,
- 25:25Speaker 1: the NBA Young Boy Tour was its own.
- 25:27Speaker 2: I was like, oh my god, like.
- 25:31Speaker 1: This guy is he's fucking a rock star like he
- 25:35Speaker 1: is and I've always known that, but like it's crazy.
- 25:37Speaker 1: You had like if you didn't go, it's it's wild.
- 25:39Speaker 1: So shout out to Young Boy. Also want to give
- 25:42Speaker 1: a shout out. A lot of music came out this year,
- 25:45Speaker 1: non hip hop. My favorite album besides Clips this year
- 25:50Speaker 1: overall was The Weekend that wee can hurry up tomorrow?
- 25:56Speaker 2: Crazy, Oh my god, So.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Shout out to the Weekend. Shouts to everybody. I'm expecting
- 26:01Speaker 1: some dope music in twenty twenty six. I'm looking forward
- 26:04Speaker 1: to another samar Sin album because she I think just
- 26:07Speaker 1: dropped an EP this year. I'm looking forward to Jake Cole.
- 26:12Speaker 1: I feel like it's cold season right now. I'm looking
- 26:15Speaker 1: forward to Kendrick dipping his toe back in the water,
- 26:20Speaker 1: which should be dope. I think we're gonna get another
- 26:23Speaker 1: Rayvaughan album this year. I think we're gonna get some
- 26:28Speaker 1: new Freddy in twenty twenty six. I would put some
- 26:31Speaker 1: money on that. There's a Big X to Plug six
- 26:37Speaker 1: hundred E n T compilation album coming out now. The
- 26:41Speaker 1: first time they did this album was called Meet the
- 26:43Speaker 1: six Ers. It went platinum or gold. The album I
- 26:46Speaker 1: don't want to give away too much, but I did
- 26:48Speaker 1: help some shake on this album and it's gonna be
- 26:54Speaker 1: fucking raw. So shout out to Rosama, shout out to
- 26:57Speaker 1: Young Hood, shout to Big X six one hundred E
- 27:01Speaker 1: n T Sixers album. The new one is gonna be
- 27:05Speaker 1: super sick. I'm curious to see what happens this year
- 27:09Speaker 1: with like just kind of like a guy, like what's
- 27:13Speaker 1: big Shawn's here gonna look like, you know, like I
- 27:15Speaker 1: want to see what Big Sean does in twenty twenty six.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Definitely want to see what Cold does. I also am like,
- 27:21Speaker 1: what's gonna happen with Does Alchemist take a break this year?
- 27:27Speaker 2: I don't know. Does he drop some new shit with Boldie.
- 27:30Speaker 1: We keep hearing that there's a currency Larry June Alchemist
- 27:34Speaker 1: album that is confirmed through currency? Actually does that come
- 27:38Speaker 1: out this year? I don't know anything.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Else this year.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Cook that we're looking forward to that you think might
- 27:44Speaker 1: be dope?
- 27:51Speaker 2: Oh that is true. Yeah, that is true, Tyler Doka.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, it's funny because I put my initial list together.
- 28:02Speaker 1: So look because I was like drop, I had a
- 28:04Speaker 1: road trip going, and I was like, yo, I just
- 28:07Speaker 1: started naming albums. And it's funny because Tyler the creator
- 28:11Speaker 1: don't tap the glass I had in my top ten,
- 28:15Speaker 1: but I was like, it's not really a hip hop album,
- 28:19Speaker 1: it's more like an alternative. But the moment and seeing
- 28:25Speaker 1: don't tap the glass. I can't flog now. And that's
- 28:28Speaker 1: another thing. Camp flog Naw was crazy. I think Tyler
- 28:31Speaker 1: cemented himself because the chromo I went to the Chromocopia
- 28:34Speaker 1: tour this year, which was crazy, and then Don't Tap
- 28:37Speaker 1: the Glass comes out and it's its own fucking thing
- 28:39Speaker 1: like Sugar on My Tones, all my favorite songs of
- 28:41Speaker 1: the year, and Tyler definitely delivered. Definitely it would have
- 28:46Speaker 1: been in the top ten. But I feel like I
- 28:48Speaker 1: just feel like it's I mean, it got nominated for
- 28:52Speaker 1: Best Alternative Album or something at the Grammys, but it's incredible.
- 28:57Speaker 1: It is incredible, the Tyler album and Tyler tour this year.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I think Chromacopeia I did go. I think that was
- 29:03Speaker 1: this year. That's another tour that was.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 29:09Speaker 1: I think Tyler this year for me personally, has solidified
- 29:14Speaker 1: himself as like.
- 29:17Speaker 2: One of the greatest performers in the world.
- 29:22Speaker 1: And after I saw Doci, I was like, Adochi is
- 29:25Speaker 1: the greatest performer in music right now because Doci.
- 29:30Speaker 2: She knows her and her fucking DJ DJ is it
- 29:33Speaker 2: Miss Milan jesus Man shout out at Doci. But look,
- 29:37Speaker 2: twenty twenty five is an incredible year for music.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Shots to everybody clips Tyler, shots of Freddy, shots, fucking
- 29:42Speaker 1: Ji d Chance.
- 29:45Speaker 2: There's probably a lot of people we didn't mention that
- 29:48Speaker 2: had dope years.
- 29:51Speaker 1: But shit enjoyed twenty twenty six man, and thank you
- 29:54Speaker 1: all for rocking with us on the podcast, and we'll
- 29:57Speaker 1: be back in the new year, Baby,
