- 0:17Speaker 1: Today we are discussing mid Love Crisis from Hallmark Movies
- 0:22Speaker 1: and Mysteries. Sorry, I'm just excited about movies and mysteries
- 0:27Speaker 1: me too. They just put out good movies. Before we
- 0:29Speaker 1: get into that movie. Okay. You can always find us

- 0:50Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hallmarket has been growing, popping off like a weed.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Megan just sent me a text the other day and
- 0:58Speaker 1: she's like, I've had to like, I didn't forty people
- 1:01Speaker 1: today and I was like, let's go, let's go.
- 1:07Speaker 2: And then I just laugh when I see other groups
- 1:08Speaker 2: have like thousands of people.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So and steady just keep on keeping on. Yeah, Okay,
- 1:14Speaker 1: before we talk about mid Love Crisis, let's talk about
- 1:18Speaker 1: Hallmark in general. I got two things I'd like to say, Okay,
- 1:21Speaker 1: one I did something I never do when I was
- 1:23Speaker 1: watching this movie, looked for a spoiler. Watched the commercials. Oh,
- 1:29Speaker 1: not all of them, okay, but I did watch. You know,
- 1:33Speaker 1: typically the first commercial leading in to the break is
- 1:36Speaker 1: a Hallmark movie preview, so I did watch a few
- 1:39Speaker 1: of those. Got kind of excited. I can't remember.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Oh they had a Christmas they had a Christmas commercial. Indeed,
- 1:46Speaker 2: that's why, yes, I pay attention. There was also a
- 1:53Speaker 2: little bit of preview.
- 1:54Speaker 1: For Autumn in the City, which I'm very excited about.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Every time I see a commercial or a photo, I
- 2:02Speaker 1: have those real Fall New York vibes. I was watching
- 2:05Speaker 1: very carefully, Like there's an image of Amy t guard
- 2:08Speaker 1: and hailing a cab. I'm like, are they in New York.
- 2:10Speaker 1: There's no way. There's no way we'll find out next week,
- 2:13Speaker 1: but at least they're given the making me feel like
- 2:16Speaker 1: they're in the city.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Give us one real Fall movie, and if it's going
- 2:20Speaker 2: to take place in New York, please let it take
- 2:22Speaker 2: place in New York.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Trying to say, but I also saw a Balsam Hill
- 2:29Speaker 1: commercial too, so it appears that product placement is strongly
- 2:32Speaker 1: in our future. Okay, well, what did were we going
- 2:36Speaker 1: through the list of It was in our Countdown to
- 2:40Speaker 1: Christmas preview episode you had wondered if we would get
- 2:43Speaker 1: a balsom Hill collab.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Was that just out of thin air or was there
- 2:47Speaker 2: a list of companies that they had, like we were
- 2:51Speaker 2: discussing all of the official Hallmark collaborations.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I Balsom Hill does not have an unofficial Hallmark collaboration.
- 2:57Speaker 1: For example, there's no like this is the Hallmark Channel
- 3:01Speaker 1: Christmas tree. They just have a paid partnership with a brand,
- 3:05Speaker 1: and sometimes those partnerships are rather blatant in the movies. Look,
- 3:11Speaker 1: I love to see it. I got to say, I
- 3:13Speaker 1: have a balsam Hell tree, do you I think I
- 3:17Speaker 1: think they're.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Real pricey, right. We bought it at the end of season,
- 3:20Speaker 2: so like we got to deal on it. But it's
- 3:22Speaker 2: a nice tree.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Well, I feel like faux trees have gotten much more expensive.
- 3:27Speaker 1: We have one from Costco that we love very very much.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It's about nine years old and when we bought it,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I think it was four hundred dollars, which seemed like
- 3:34Speaker 1: a lot of money, like a huge investment. That same tree.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Now I think it's eight hundred dollars. God. Every year
- 3:40Speaker 1: when we plug it in, we go please light up,
- 3:42Speaker 1: please light this is a long time, still kicking. It's
- 3:45Speaker 1: still kicking. There was one year, three or maybe longer
- 3:48Speaker 1: than that, several years ago where one of the segments
- 3:50Speaker 1: didn't light up and I was like, oh no, but
- 3:53Speaker 1: someone who is handier than my husband and I I'm
- 3:56Speaker 1: actually pretty in I know, I know you are. You
- 3:59Speaker 1: do a lot of that, like hands on work around here.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I do. That's not sarcasm. I'm saying I know you do.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I don't do electricity. Yeah. So anyway, a friend of
- 4:10Speaker 1: ours came over and was like, oh, you need to
- 4:12Speaker 1: do and fix it. So every year we plug it
- 4:15Speaker 1: in and hope that all the segments light up. Still
- 4:17Speaker 1: looks great. One more. This is a this is a
- 4:21Speaker 1: real loose connection here. Okay, I'd like to plug our
- 4:24Speaker 1: Hallmark Channel Bingo cards that you have created. That's right,
- 4:27Speaker 1: thank you. They are live on our website, Megan and
- 4:31Speaker 1: Wendy dot com. Wendy will leave a link to them
- 4:33Speaker 1: in our show notes and she even added some new
- 4:37Speaker 1: cards this year. Do you like them? Yes?
- 4:39Speaker 2: I changed them up the way they look and I
- 4:41Speaker 2: added some new like spaces. I put Wowie Zowie nice
- 4:47Speaker 2: And for those who don't know what a wowie Zowi is,
- 4:49Speaker 2: I think it was worn out of Countdown to Christmas
- 4:51Speaker 2: last year exactly. And Wowie Zowi is just a good
- 4:56Speaker 2: looking lead man or woman.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Yes, so that's that's all it is. That's all. It is,
- 5:01Speaker 1: almost like a free spot really. We also have Instagram
- 5:05Speaker 1: story templates that you can find on our Instagram at
- 5:08Speaker 1: mangan and Wendy that you can use to play along
- 5:09Speaker 1: with our Countdownder Christmas movie. So check those out.
- 5:13Speaker 2: If I can add my loosely related Hallmark news here. Yeah,
- 5:17Speaker 2: I've been watching Dancing with the Stars, okay, and one
- 5:21Speaker 2: former Hallmark movie actor is a contestant.
- 5:26Speaker 1: His name is Trevor Donovan.
- 5:28Speaker 2: And I really don't care for him prior to this
- 5:35Speaker 2: or since watching this. No, okay, So he was in
- 5:39Speaker 2: a movie that we liked a couple of years ago, right.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Ish, maybe not? I don't know. I'm not sure I've
- 5:46Speaker 1: ever seen on Trevor donald Yes, we have. He was
- 5:49Speaker 1: a skier in this movie. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 5:51Speaker 1: yeah too Memory of a Goldfish These two. Yes, that's
- 5:55Speaker 1: what this podcast should be called He's So Pretty, though,
- 5:59Speaker 1: two for the win. I knew it was too further in.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I didn't hate that movie. I remember like somewhat enjoying it.
- 6:05Speaker 2: And anyway, he's an okay dancer. Okay, he's not great.
- 6:12Speaker 1: He's certainly middle of the pack, but he's just an
- 6:16Speaker 1: weird bird. Can you quantify that why he's weird? Yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 1: he just makes a weird facial expressions, Okay, like when
- 6:26Speaker 1: the judges are talking to him. And then in Monday
- 6:30Speaker 1: Night's episode, you know, they do like these prepackaged type
- 6:34Speaker 1: interviews where like you know, when they're practicing or whatever,
- 6:37Speaker 1: they show him like before they go out on stage
- 6:39Speaker 1: to dance, and he's with his dance partner and he's
- 6:44Speaker 1: I don't even remember what they're talking about. But he
- 6:45Speaker 1: goes one time when I was on nine oh two
- 6:48Speaker 1: one zero, and I'm like, this is where you're pulling from, dude,
- 6:51Speaker 1: Like the people who are watching Dancing with the Stars
- 6:54Speaker 1: know you from Hallmark, don't you think one hundred percent?
- 6:58Speaker 1: So anyway, like he pulls out this nine oh two
- 7:01Speaker 1: one oh reference and his partner's like, okay, great and
- 7:06Speaker 1: went on to what they were doing and it just
- 7:09Speaker 1: was so funny. I was like, he's so trying to
- 7:12Speaker 1: get so far away from Hallmark. I feel like, but
- 7:15Speaker 1: he's still making movies over for that other channel, right,
- 7:18Speaker 1: Great American Family. Yeah, I'm curious to see if he's
- 7:21Speaker 1: he has an exclusive deal over there? Is that I'm correct? Right? So,
- 7:25Speaker 1: but we don't know what's they're airing this year or
- 7:28Speaker 1: have we not even looked? Here's the deal? They have
- 7:31Speaker 1: released a lineup. If you go to Megan and Winny
- 7:33Speaker 1: dot com. We've discussed the lifetime movies that we have
- 7:35Speaker 1: information about to this point, we've discussed the UpTV holiday lineup.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest. This isn't a oh they're a
- 7:43Speaker 1: Hallmark competitor. This is I fully believe that Great American
- 7:46Speaker 1: Family formerly Great American Country is a channel that was
- 7:49Speaker 1: built on hate and weaponize is the term family friendly?
- 7:52Speaker 1: And I'm not interested in promoting their movies or watching
- 7:56Speaker 1: their movies at all. We're not more exclusive, right, That's
- 8:01Speaker 1: just my feeling about that. No, I agree, So don't
- 8:04Speaker 1: be looking to our website if you're looking for Trevor
- 8:06Speaker 1: Donovan graphic, be damned all those ad revenue clicks. Sorry,
- 8:11Speaker 1: Trevor Donovan will be starring in Reagan, which comes out
- 8:15Speaker 1: this year, a drama based on the life of Ronald Reagan,
- 8:18Speaker 1: Haley playing secret service agent John Barletta. Anyway, final thought
- 8:23Speaker 1: is he's just a weird bird. I'm tempted to watch.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I actually like Dancing with the Stars. I just get
- 8:29Speaker 1: behind every season. I love it. Monday Nights is just
- 8:32Speaker 1: the best for me. And it's it's Disney Plus now
- 8:34Speaker 1: so it streams live. That's so interesting to me is
- 8:38Speaker 1: that the only show on Disney Plus that does that. Yes,
- 8:41Speaker 1: So it's appointment television like at in prime time.
- 8:45Speaker 2: And there's no commercials either, which is crazy. It's still
- 8:48Speaker 2: a two hour show.
- 8:50Speaker 1: With no commercials. So they have these little like kind
- 8:52Speaker 1: of like breaks in between. Like for example, they were
- 8:56Speaker 1: giving the Charleston Dance last night, and they had like
- 8:59Speaker 1: pro come up, like two pros would be dancing, and
- 9:02Speaker 1: then Derek Huff, who's like one of the judges, would.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Explain what they're looking for in the dance and stuff,
- 9:07Speaker 2: which is actually really cool if you're super interested in
- 9:10Speaker 2: that stuff.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Yeah, but no commercials. Oh that's nice because Disney Plus
- 9:14Speaker 1: is going to a commercial model soon where their pricing
- 9:17Speaker 1: is going to change, so you will pay extra for
- 9:19Speaker 1: commercial free programming, which doesn't really surprise me. Moving on, Yeah,
- 9:23Speaker 1: let's start with the synopsis of mid Love Crisis.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Oh right, this is a short one. There were a
- 9:29Speaker 2: couple different all over the internet. Here's a short one.
- 9:32Speaker 1: On the eve of turning fifty, A woman finds herself
- 9:35Speaker 1: doing the most unexpected thing, rekindeling a romance that ended
- 9:38Speaker 1: thirty years ago. Okay, yeah, it's not great, right, great? No,
- 9:43Speaker 1: I agree. I was doing my own version of a
- 9:47Speaker 1: synopsis earlier. She gets like, she gets in her mojo,
- 9:51Speaker 1: getting the zone, and that's the word I was looking for.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Where she's like summarizing the movie for me. Not that
- 9:57Speaker 2: I didn't watch it.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I watched it, but I needed a rough Terry Hatcher
- 10:01Speaker 1: plays Mindy. First of all, let's talk about that name.
- 10:04Speaker 1: We'll come back to it. Mindy is on the eve
- 10:07Speaker 1: of her fiftieth birthday. She is freaking out, by the way,
- 10:11Speaker 1: Terry Hatcher fifty seven, let her be on the eve
- 10:13Speaker 1: of her fifty seventh birthday, please and thank you. She
- 10:17Speaker 1: in the middle of a panic because her car won't start,
- 10:20Speaker 1: runs in to someone who turns out to be her
- 10:22Speaker 1: old high school boyfriend, and come to find out, he
- 10:25Speaker 1: is also the uncle of her daughter's current girlfriend, who
- 10:28Speaker 1: have come home for the weekend and they're going to propose.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Mindy does not like this because she is only twenty
- 10:33Speaker 1: three years old and she feels like they are too young.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And Mindy's marriage ended after twenty two very long years.
- 10:37Speaker 1: That's a very successful relationship. But Mindy's like, no, you
- 10:40Speaker 1: will not get married, and I am going to ruin
- 10:42Speaker 1: this moment for you. Minnie's ex husband, Mark comes back
- 10:45Speaker 1: into the picture. Mark's a real dick, realizes that now
- 10:50Speaker 1: that somebody else likes Mindy, and now that the woman
- 10:53Speaker 1: he left, Mandy four, is no longer interested in him,
- 10:56Speaker 1: all of a sudden, Mindy's looking kind of good. Remind
- 10:59Speaker 1: me of the ninth ten principle. When we're done with this, Okay,
- 11:01Speaker 1: Mindy is falling for Sam Marcus trying to get Mindy back,
- 11:04Speaker 1: Mark kisses Mindy. Sam gets real bud hurt over the
- 11:08Speaker 1: fact that Mark kisses Mindy, and Mark's like, oh, did
- 11:11Speaker 1: you think you could give her what you needed? And
- 11:13Speaker 1: Sam's like, well, I guess they didn't. And then Sam
- 11:15Speaker 1: runs away and goes back home. Meanwhile, Mindy's daughter decides, Hey,
- 11:20Speaker 1: maybe I'll propose at your birthday party that you don't
- 11:23Speaker 1: even want to have, which what is even happening here?
- 11:25Speaker 1: I don't understand, Like, don't propose to someone else's big event.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Oh anyway, Mindy's like, great, I don't want a party anyway,
- 11:31Speaker 1: Let's make it about you. She calls and leaves Sam
- 11:32Speaker 1: a really long voicemail saying like I'm sorry. I don't
- 11:35Speaker 1: actually remember what she says, but something like I'm sorry,
- 11:36Speaker 1: I'm please come back. She's having this beautiful birthday party.
- 11:39Speaker 1: It starts raining and Sam comes back. They kiss. There's fireworks.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Why always with the fireworks when it's raining? Yes, those
- 11:47Speaker 1: would have been canceled. Come on, and there's a double proposal. Yeah,
- 11:50Speaker 1: that was cute. That was cute. Okay, let's talk about
- 11:54Speaker 1: this movie. Okay. First of all, I take very big
- 11:57Speaker 1: issue with the fact that there is no IMDb pay
- 12:00Speaker 1: for this movie, which is really weird. Somebody's not doing
- 12:04Speaker 1: their job.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Some intern is not working today because they have not
- 12:09Speaker 2: added this to IMDb.
- 12:11Speaker 1: We do know that this movie was filmed in and
- 12:13Speaker 1: around Vancouver, British Columbia, from mid July to early August
- 12:19Speaker 1: twenty twenty two. This was directed by Terry Ingram, who
- 12:24Speaker 1: most recently directed Three Wise Men and a Baby, which.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Is coming out and countdown to Christmas. Probably the top
- 12:30Speaker 2: movie I want to see.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Yes, this person also did the wedding veil series Tons
- 12:35Speaker 1: of Chesapeake Shores, which I'm still watching and loving. There's
- 12:39Speaker 1: over eighty directing credits. I saw that in the opening credits,
- 12:44Speaker 1: and it gave me high hopes for this movie. Me too,
- 12:46Speaker 1: Me too.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I know when I saw it, I was like, oh, like,
- 12:49Speaker 2: I got a little excited.
- 12:51Speaker 1: This movie is written by Jois Votkin and Ken I
- 12:54Speaker 1: just tell you that we went the extra mile for you.
- 12:57Speaker 1: This morning, friends, we saw the name of the writer
- 13:00Speaker 1: and Wendy said, how do you think you pronounce that?
- 13:02Speaker 1: And what did I do? I hunted down a podcast
- 13:05Speaker 1: episode where this lovely woman was interviewed, and in fact
- 13:08Speaker 1: I guessed prior that it was JOI you did. I
- 13:13Speaker 1: thought it was Joey, And in fact it is the
- 13:16Speaker 1: French pronunciation jois. Yeah, what did you say? DUIs de v?
- 13:22Speaker 1: I can't I've never taken French. I think it means
- 13:26Speaker 1: like I don't want to the Joy of Life. I
- 13:29Speaker 1: just thought it meant joy and I was. She says it.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I go, isn't that a perfume? I thought it was
- 13:34Speaker 1: that perfume that that act Charlie's Throne. Oh my god,
- 13:39Speaker 1: Now are really Charlie's tharn? I can picture the commercials,
- 13:45Speaker 1: but I don't know.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Want the runway and she's got a gold dress or
- 13:48Speaker 2: she's painted in gold er.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can picture it. It's that perfume.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Call it's duaw something, Charlie's thorne perfume. It's jador close
- 14:01Speaker 1: close door. Oh my gosh. Anyway, anyway, Jua Botkin is
- 14:09Speaker 1: a prolific writer. She's written a number of TV movies,
- 14:12Speaker 1: including Beverly Hill's Wedding, Cranberry Christmas, and The Christmas Contest. Recently,
- 14:17Speaker 1: yeaes and you know what's coming up next for her,
- 14:21Speaker 1: Mabel Valley Christmas with mister Andrew Walker. That's one of
- 14:25Speaker 1: those movies that's on the top of my list too
- 14:27Speaker 1: to watch easily easily. We would like to correct a
- 14:32Speaker 1: mistake that we made previously where we said this movie
- 14:34Speaker 1: starred Terry Hatcher and James Denton. It does not stars
- 14:39Speaker 1: Terry Hatcher. And James Tupper. I'm telling you though, those
- 14:42Speaker 1: two actors look alike too well. In in all fairness,
- 14:45Speaker 1: James Denton was in The Perfect Harmony.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Oh yeah, So you think you just saw like a
- 14:49Speaker 2: commercial or an ad for it and then James Ditton
- 14:52Speaker 2: stuck in your mind? Or do you think because Terry
- 14:54Speaker 2: Hatcher has done a lot of work with James Ditton.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I actually think you said Terry Hatcher and James Denton
- 14:59Speaker 1: are in another mo on me, and then I just
- 15:02Speaker 1: was like, well, okay, and then repeated it. Guys, that's
- 15:06Speaker 1: not nice. So you're blaming it on me that I
- 15:09Speaker 1: did not give you the right information. Oh I didn't
- 15:11Speaker 1: back check, all right, I think that's what happened. Okay.
- 15:17Speaker 1: You said, I'm really excited about this movie with Terry
- 15:20Speaker 1: Hatcher and James Denton because we talked about how much
- 15:22Speaker 1: we want old people in movies. Oh my god, I
- 15:25Speaker 1: do not think that was the words. It was my mouth.
- 15:28Speaker 1: It was. It wasn't we'll get to the we'll get
- 15:31Speaker 1: to the age of it all. Oh my goodness. But
- 15:35Speaker 1: I will say James Tupper in this movie also started
- 15:40Speaker 1: my Christmas family tree last year. One of the movies
- 15:43Speaker 1: I really like last year. Yeah, that's a movie I
- 15:46Speaker 1: would watch again this year. I would too. Yeah, it
- 15:49Speaker 1: was sweet. It was sweet. What was your first impression
- 15:52Speaker 1: of this movie? Oh?
- 15:53Speaker 2: My gosh, I did not write one down. This was
- 15:56Speaker 2: my first impression. When I started watching the movie the
- 15:59Speaker 2: other night. I exit you and I said, I feel
- 16:02Speaker 2: personally offended that Terry Hatter is trying to pull being
- 16:05Speaker 2: forty nine in this movie when she is fifty seven
- 16:08Speaker 2: in real life. Indeed, I feel personally offended because I'm
- 16:11Speaker 2: forty seven years old.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yes, and I think I look better than Terry Hatcher. Well,
- 16:21Speaker 1: she's ten years older than you. Terry Hatcher looks great.
- 16:23Speaker 1: That's not the issue for me. Yes, the issue is
- 16:28Speaker 1: why did she have to play a younger woman? I
- 16:31Speaker 1: don't know. It bothers me so much. Now James Denton
- 16:35Speaker 1: is also James Denton. James Tapper is also fifty seven
- 16:39Speaker 1: years old, which I was happy about. Yes, Oh wow,
- 16:43Speaker 1: so that actually made me happy that they weren't pairing
- 16:46Speaker 1: her with a younger man, that they are peers in
- 16:49Speaker 1: the movie, and that they are actually the same age.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I know, fifty is a nice milestone birthday. Sure make
- 16:56Speaker 1: her fifty five would in and be like, I can't
- 17:00Speaker 1: believe I'm turning fifty seven. What is fifty seven? Nothing happen,
- 17:03Speaker 1: exciting happens, and you're fifty seven, Like they could have
- 17:06Speaker 1: taken that. I know, I know, and I want to
- 17:08Speaker 1: be very clear. I don't think there's anything wrong with aging.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Aging's great. No, it's fine. And I'm not age shaming. No,
- 17:15Speaker 1: it'd be known. I don't think you are either. My
- 17:19Speaker 1: first impression is there were way too many nods to
- 17:23Speaker 1: the youths in this movie. Oh, a lot of like
- 17:26Speaker 1: the writing right, the little slips with the like yeah,
- 17:30Speaker 1: and most of them are like a little bit too
- 17:32Speaker 1: late late. Would you like to do a runt? Do
- 17:35Speaker 1: a rundown of the pop culture both dated and oren? Yes,
- 17:40Speaker 1: I'm feeling Gilmore Guys here right. Oh my gosh. As
- 17:43Speaker 1: I said that, I thought, what was that? What did
- 17:46Speaker 1: they call the backstory on that? I can't remember what
- 17:49Speaker 1: it was? Called pop culture? Pop goes the Culture? Yes, okay,
- 17:52Speaker 1: it's called Gilmore Guys was a podcast where they watched
- 17:56Speaker 1: and recapped every episode of the TV show The Gilmore Girls,
- 17:59Speaker 1: and in one segment of the show they would do
- 18:02Speaker 1: called pop Ghost. The culture. They would discuss all of
- 18:04Speaker 1: the pop culture references made in that episode. And it's
- 18:08Speaker 1: so funny because as I said that, I was having
- 18:10Speaker 1: that memory of that show. Interesting. Okay, I don't know
- 18:13Speaker 1: this on applies, but I'm gonna put it in here.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Mindy shades Rita's job is a content marketer. Oh yeah,
- 18:18Speaker 1: yea yeah yeah, like that's a fully legitimate job. And
- 18:20Speaker 1: they hear twenty twenty two totally. They talk about van life,
- 18:25Speaker 1: running a van and living in a van and working remotely.
- 18:28Speaker 1: But that's not that's not dated, that's current, but that's
- 18:31Speaker 1: like a thing that is happening very much. TikTok trend.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Mindy singings, Yeah sings, I'm bringing muffins back. Yeah, in
- 18:39Speaker 1: the most cringe worthy moment of the movie.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Okay, hold it there for a second. I did laugh
- 18:43Speaker 2: out loud, as did I when she said it. But
- 18:46Speaker 2: then when she's they keep going bringing in muffins bad.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I was a little bit embarrassed. I was like,
- 18:51Speaker 1: stop doing that, yeah, yeah, and they kept going. They
- 18:53Speaker 1: took it a little too far. Also, is there not
- 18:55Speaker 1: a single more recent song not written by a total
- 18:59Speaker 1: trash bag that they could have referenced just saying burning man. Yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 1: I mean that's very current, like that just happened. But
- 19:07Speaker 1: I feel like that's a punchline for a lot of things.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Don't you hear a lot of burning man jokes? I do,
- 19:12Speaker 1: And it's funny because it did just end, and I
- 19:16Speaker 1: watched a lot of TikTok about it. Oh did you?
- 19:18Speaker 1: It looks like the most miserable experience of my life. Never,
- 19:21Speaker 1: it's very interesting, like there's no money involved, like you
- 19:23Speaker 1: can't pay for anything. Everything's done on like a trade
- 19:26Speaker 1: barter system. No, thank you. Do you have to sleep outside? No,
- 19:30Speaker 1: some people bring camper, some people bring tents, but it's
- 19:32Speaker 1: so dusty that apparently even if you bring like a camper,
- 19:35Speaker 1: you have to like seal all of the windows with
- 19:38Speaker 1: duct tape or your camper will be completely filled with
- 19:41Speaker 1: sand and dust. Where it like take place somewhere in
- 19:43Speaker 1: the desert in California, I think, I think, so, I
- 19:47Speaker 1: don't know. And then afterwards they have teams of volunteers
- 19:50Speaker 1: who like clean up everybody's crap, yeah, who like walk
- 19:54Speaker 1: for days and days, just like picking up, picking up,
- 19:57Speaker 1: picking up. It's a whole thing. Anyway, it looks miserable
- 19:59Speaker 1: but if you enjoy burning Man, I think you should go.
- 20:03Speaker 1: You the listener, Wendy's never going to Burning Man never. Anyway.
- 20:06Speaker 1: There were a lot of moments like that where Mindy
- 20:09Speaker 1: would say something and her mom would repeat it back
- 20:11Speaker 1: to her, like trying to be cool, and like, I
- 20:14Speaker 1: have this in my did you see that? But does
- 20:16Speaker 1: anyone say Cray Cray anymore? I don't think, because the
- 20:18Speaker 1: daughter goes so Craig Gray, Yeah, no, I don't. I'm
- 20:21Speaker 1: want to ask you about the name Mindy you referenced earlier.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I don't think it. Is it the name of a
- 20:27Speaker 1: fifty year old woman? Is that the era when they
- 20:30Speaker 1: were Mindy's. I don't have an issue with a Mindy name.
- 20:34Speaker 1: That's my only question. My best friend in high school
- 20:36Speaker 1: was named Mendy.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Okay, so we would be forty seven she is, so,
- 20:41Speaker 2: it is asked, But yeah, I thought it is.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess, okay. I mean Mindy was on her
- 20:46Speaker 1: birth name. It was a nickname for Melinda. But sure, okay.
- 20:51Speaker 2: There was one really funny joke in this that I
- 20:54Speaker 2: did think was funny, and I'm only going to slide
- 20:56Speaker 2: it in here. Is they were talking about high school
- 20:59Speaker 2: with with the younger girls and they're like, oh, did
- 21:03Speaker 2: he drive a hot rod or whatever. She's like, thanks
- 21:06Speaker 2: for putting us in the fifties. I think that was
- 21:08Speaker 2: very funny because they would have been in high school
- 21:12Speaker 2: in nineteen ninety two. Yeah, I'll talk a little bit
- 21:15Speaker 2: about that in a bit.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Well. They also she's like, yeah, we're gonna play music
- 21:19Speaker 1: from the eighties and nineties, you know, like do wop music. God,
- 21:24Speaker 1: it's so funny. Okay, what else do we like about
- 21:27Speaker 1: this movie? I'm happy that there's a mid life movie. Yeah,
- 21:31Speaker 1: I think it.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Is probably somewhat relatable for a lot of Hallmark viewers.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I still want more movies like this, though.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Especially where the lead female doesn't have a reconnection with
- 21:46Speaker 1: an old boyfriend. You can still find love without going
- 21:49Speaker 1: back to your high school boyfriend, exactly. You didn't have
- 21:51Speaker 1: to find someone who loved you when you were young
- 21:53Speaker 1: and hot, right, right, Just give me something that's like midlife,
- 21:59Speaker 1: like real, Like well, they did try to say like
- 22:02Speaker 1: she was on the apps, or she wasn't technically on
- 22:04Speaker 1: the apps, but her friend was telling her, like you
- 22:06Speaker 1: should be on the dating apps, right, Well, Like, give
- 22:08Speaker 1: me a movie where there is a midlife woman who's
- 22:12Speaker 1: looking for love, and how do you do that in
- 22:14Speaker 1: the year twenty twenty two? I think people do it
- 22:16Speaker 1: on apps. Yeah, and it's not just your old high
- 22:19Speaker 1: school boyfriend come in to town and he happens to
- 22:20Speaker 1: be the uncle of your daughter's girlfriend, and now you're
- 22:22Speaker 1: going to be in a family together, so you might
- 22:24Speaker 1: as well get together.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just just give me more midlife movies that
- 22:28Speaker 2: are relatable.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Thank you. On that same track, I liked that we
- 22:32Speaker 1: had a same sex couple and it was not a thing.
- 22:35Speaker 1: It wasn't like, here's me dealing with my daughter who
- 22:38Speaker 1: also has a girlfriend. It was just my daughter has
- 22:40Speaker 1: a girlfriend, and let's normalize this in our Hallmark movies.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I would say that there was a lot of girl
- 22:48Speaker 1: on girl kissing in this movie. Yes, not that I'm
- 22:50Speaker 1: uncomfortable with it. I didn't care one bit, But I'm
- 22:53Speaker 1: wondering if that's why it was on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Oh you think. I don't know. I think it might
- 23:02Speaker 1: have been too much for Oh you think Hallmark Movies
- 23:05Speaker 1: and Mysteries is the more progressive of the two channel.
- 23:07Speaker 1: I think it's similar, edgier. Yes, interesting. I do. Hey,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I loved when Mark brings Mindy flowers and she goes, oh,
- 23:16Speaker 1: carnations your favorite. That was funny that there were some
- 23:20Speaker 1: good singers in there. There really were. Mark was a
- 23:24Speaker 1: freaking dope, he was, and I just thought, man, can
- 23:28Speaker 1: you relate to knowing that person who buys you gifts
- 23:32Speaker 1: that they love? Yeah?
- 23:34Speaker 2: I really enjoyed Jabe's tougher, not Denton. I cann't tell
- 23:38Speaker 2: you one thing that he's been in before. I know
- 23:39Speaker 2: his name, but I don't know what he was in
- 23:42Speaker 2: and his face. He was in Big.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Little Eyes, a million little things. Those names of those
- 23:48Speaker 1: shows sounds so familiar. What what else did you say?
- 23:51Speaker 1: He was in something a Christmas family tree? Oh right,
- 23:54Speaker 1: a Christmas family tree from last year. And it wasn't
- 23:57Speaker 1: until today when I was doing some research on him
- 24:00Speaker 1: that he was formally married. I think to Anne Hash, Yeah,
- 24:04Speaker 1: that blew my mind.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Yeah, And there's this whole like if you guys want
- 24:08Speaker 2: to google it, there's this whole like estate situation that
- 24:12Speaker 2: he is involved in. Yeah, sounds kind of ugly. And
- 24:15Speaker 2: then I was wondering, like, oh, I wonder if that
- 24:17Speaker 2: means he'll be working less because he's fighting than that
- 24:19Speaker 2: or is he going to be working more?
- 24:21Speaker 1: Right? Yeah? So anyway, I loved when they get engaged
- 24:27Speaker 1: and Mindy says, oh, now I have two daughters. Yeah,
- 24:31Speaker 1: that was sweet. I liked her relationship with Emily, that
- 24:35Speaker 1: they developed a relationship. She knew Emily's mom, and there
- 24:40Speaker 1: were just a lot of sweet moments of them having
- 24:42Speaker 1: a conversation together. And I liked that they were building
- 24:45Speaker 1: that relationship throughout the movie.
- 24:47Speaker 2: But nothing what no, no, I'm not gonna add anything
- 24:50Speaker 2: there because I was like, yeah, like that happens in
- 24:52Speaker 2: real life.
- 24:53Speaker 1: She was staying in the house, you know, but like,
- 24:55Speaker 1: you don't really build relationships like that where they're like
- 24:58Speaker 1: ann laws. Wouldn't that be ideal? The ideal I was
- 25:02Speaker 1: when your daughter bring someone home, Aren't you gonna want
- 25:05Speaker 1: to like be the cool mother in law who's like
- 25:09Speaker 1: lovely and wonderful to them? I would try, I'm going
- 25:12Speaker 1: to be the cool mother in law. Hey, next, when
- 25:16Speaker 1: did you wish for? Well? I don't have a lot here.
- 25:23Speaker 1: I just think in the beginning of this movie, Minnie
- 25:25Speaker 1: really needed to unclench. Like she talks about like, oh, well,
- 25:28Speaker 1: the saturated fat in that and I was like, it's
- 25:30Speaker 1: not nineteen ninety six, who's talking about saturated fat anymore? Totally.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I just thought she was so uptight and needed to
- 25:39Speaker 1: chill out, and she does eventually she meane she quiss
- 25:44Speaker 1: her job, which came out of nowhere, Like I feel
- 25:47Speaker 1: like she got guilted into quitting that job. It was
- 25:50Speaker 1: so weird because as far as I could tell, there
- 25:52Speaker 1: wasn't something else that she wanted to do. She had,
- 25:56Speaker 1: once upon a time wanted to be a doctor. It
- 25:58Speaker 1: didn't seem like she was going to go back to
- 25:59Speaker 1: that now at fifty. Not mean that she can't, but
- 26:05Speaker 1: I didn't get that sense from her, And so I
- 26:08Speaker 1: didn't get this feeling that, oh, there was something else
- 26:10Speaker 1: that she really wanted and now she was going to
- 26:12Speaker 1: have time for. And also she's fifty. She clearly says
- 26:16Speaker 1: like she's not able to retire, and now you're leave
- 26:18Speaker 1: in all that sweet sweet teacher retirement money, you get
- 26:21Speaker 1: a max out those years. She must be getting some
- 26:23Speaker 1: sweet sweet alimony alimony from Mark. Yeah, hey, he's a doctor,
- 26:29Speaker 1: right right.
- 26:31Speaker 2: I did not think it was necessary for the ex
- 26:35Speaker 2: husband to come back around. I'm like, sure he's going
- 26:37Speaker 2: to come because like his daughter is getting engaged and
- 26:39Speaker 2: blah blah blah, all that stuff whatever, but.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Like he didn't like they had been divorced. He left
- 26:45Speaker 1: her yeah for somebody else, right, So like it just
- 26:50Speaker 1: was like not necessary and he was just such compared
- 26:54Speaker 1: to James Tupper. Yeah, I was like what Nope, and
- 26:59Speaker 1: I I don't think it does what they want it
- 27:01Speaker 1: to do, because at no point was I rooting for
- 27:03Speaker 1: the ex husband. At no point did I feel like
- 27:05Speaker 1: he was an actual threat. Here's my last thing I
- 27:10Speaker 1: wished for. I wished for some nineties music. And let
- 27:14Speaker 1: me let me explain it here. My husband is forty
- 27:17Speaker 1: nine years old, so he graduated high school in nineteen
- 27:20Speaker 1: ninety one, and I just thought, like, couldn't they have
- 27:25Speaker 1: like put some like boys do men in or color
- 27:28Speaker 1: me Bad or something, just to like give those nineties
- 27:32Speaker 1: vibe at her party or yes, at her party. And
- 27:35Speaker 1: by the way, I looked at the hits of nineteen
- 27:36Speaker 1: ninety one, I don't hate it. I think I need
- 27:38Speaker 1: to find a Spotify oh, because I was like, oh, yeah,
- 27:41Speaker 1: I remember that song. I like that song. I just
- 27:44Speaker 1: wish like there could have been some budget to make
- 27:47Speaker 1: it a little more. I don't know, a little bit
- 27:51Speaker 1: of a nod to the fellow approaching fifty crowds, Yes,
- 27:56Speaker 1: because wouldn't that just feel relateble. I don't know, I'm
- 28:02Speaker 1: gonna put this here. I didn't think Mindy was super
- 28:04Speaker 1: off base for hoping her twenty three year old daughter
- 28:07Speaker 1: doesn't get married too young. Yeah, how old were you? Oh?
- 28:12Speaker 1: A baby? I was twenty five. But as I was watching,
- 28:18Speaker 1: I don't think there's anything to be gain from saying like,
- 28:21Speaker 1: I don't think you should get married. It's too late.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Her daughter's made this decision. Now you have a choice.
- 28:24Speaker 1: You can be supportive and be in her life and
- 28:27Speaker 1: be the mom that she wants you to be, or
- 28:29Speaker 1: you can be crappy about it and damage your relationship
- 28:32Speaker 1: with her. And I was we talked about this, you know,
- 28:37Speaker 1: on a recent episode we did about parenting and about
- 28:40Speaker 1: how I feel like I'm trying to shove my kids
- 28:43Speaker 1: full all the lessons I want them to learn now,
- 28:45Speaker 1: because at some point it's not going to be my
- 28:46Speaker 1: call anymore, and I'm just gonna have to trust them
- 28:48Speaker 1: to make their own decisions. And I was really thinking
- 28:51Speaker 1: about that, this is the moment you just have to
- 28:53Speaker 1: trust her, and you have to be there for her
- 28:55Speaker 1: because she's not gonna go You know what, Mom, You're right.
- 28:58Speaker 1: I never won't get married never. So this comes down
- 29:03Speaker 1: to those like being the good mother in law moments. Right,
- 29:05Speaker 1: do you want to be the mother in law who's
- 29:07Speaker 1: not supporting the marriage because she thinks you're too young
- 29:09Speaker 1: or the mother in law who's like, I'm gonna love
- 29:12Speaker 1: you and support your choices and help you when you ask. Earlier,
- 29:17Speaker 1: you mentioned the ninety ten principle. Oh, let's go back
- 29:20Speaker 1: to that real quick. I saw on Twitter someone was
- 29:25Speaker 1: saying essentially, the point was like men tend to focus
- 29:31Speaker 1: on the qualities that their partners don't have when they're unhappy.
- 29:35Speaker 1: So they may be with someone who ticks ninety percent
- 29:39Speaker 1: of their boxes, but they're really focused on that ten percent.
- 29:42Speaker 1: And when men leave a relationship, it's because they've found
- 29:46Speaker 1: someone who meets that ten percent but not the other
- 29:48Speaker 1: ninety necessarily. And then they realize after a relatively short
- 29:53Speaker 1: or long period of time, like, oh shit, I actually
- 29:57Speaker 1: had something that was great and I was thinking in
- 30:02Speaker 1: this moment as Mark comes back to Mindy and after
- 30:05Speaker 1: he had left her for whatever reason, and he was
- 30:08Speaker 1: in a relationship that didn't work out, and he's like, oh,
- 30:11Speaker 1: I actually did have something great. It reminded me of that.
- 30:15Speaker 1: That's interesting. Is that scientific? Well, I don't think so.
- 30:19Speaker 1: But what is interesting is men, I think, probably statistically,
- 30:25Speaker 1: but I'm not gonna look up the statistics typically leave
- 30:27Speaker 1: a relationship when they have another relationship to go to. Huh.
- 30:30Speaker 1: As my mother likes to say, men don't jump ship
- 30:32Speaker 1: without a life raft, But women will leave a relationship
- 30:36Speaker 1: simply when they're unhappy. They don't need something else lined up, right,
- 30:39Speaker 1: And so men are jumping ship for that ten percent
- 30:44Speaker 1: life raft. So I.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Totally agree with all that, and I'm trying to apply
- 30:50Speaker 2: it to Like in the news recently, Adam Levine has
- 30:53Speaker 2: been like criticized for dming other women when he is
- 30:58Speaker 2: married to a beautif full Victoria's Secret model and has
- 31:02Speaker 2: three beautiful children and whatever, Yes, what tencent is.
- 31:07Speaker 1: He looking for? Well? Exactly, I know? Is this crazy?
- 31:10Speaker 1: Did we talk about? Did you see that? No? I
- 31:15Speaker 1: got nothing, got nothing for that. My one observation was,
- 31:18Speaker 1: does anyone say Craig Cray anymore? My number two observation
- 31:21Speaker 1: is where did the sun come from? It? Is pouring
- 31:23Speaker 1: down rain, and Dad goes, I've got a solution. And
- 31:26Speaker 1: then in the next scene, they're all still in the
- 31:28Speaker 1: same clothes. It's sunny and they're on a boat and
- 31:31Speaker 1: he goes, just goes to show you can't trust the
- 31:32Speaker 1: weather forecast. Here's why that doesn't make sense. The whole
- 31:35Speaker 1: reason they were upset about the rain is because Rita
- 31:38Speaker 1: had planned to propose to Emily, I believe on a
- 31:40Speaker 1: hot air balloon ride. And the hot air balloons don't
- 31:42Speaker 1: fly when it's raining. But if it is now, Sonny,
- 31:48Speaker 1: why couldn't they just go on their hot air balloon ride.
- 31:50Speaker 1: If they were, they anceled. I don't know, I know
- 31:52Speaker 1: they just was a little bit like pouring down rain.
- 31:55Speaker 1: You're sad looking through the window and dad has a
- 31:57Speaker 1: solution and all of a sudden, it's sunny. Yeah, that's
- 32:01Speaker 1: all I have.
- 32:02Speaker 2: And we talked about the fireworks already when it's raining
- 32:05Speaker 2: at her birthday, why is our fireworks?
- 32:07Speaker 1: We talked about it. Oh so this dude, fireworks are
- 32:11Speaker 1: very expensive.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, like you don't usually typically have like fireworks
- 32:17Speaker 2: for a birthday party unless you're a bazillionaire.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I mean, have you ever been to a birthday party
- 32:23Speaker 1: with fireworks.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Never, not in my forty seven years, have I ever
- 32:26Speaker 2: been to a No.
- 32:28Speaker 1: No. My parents live near the beach, and every year
- 32:32Speaker 1: there's like talk of like one of the local million
- 32:36Speaker 1: billionaires who like hires a barge and does fireworks in
- 32:39Speaker 1: the ocean. But it's always someone with like, you know,
- 32:42Speaker 1: fu money. Yeah, it's like I can literally light that
- 32:44Speaker 1: on fire. Well it's it's not.
- 32:46Speaker 2: It's not Mindy the school teacher or whoever threw the
- 32:49Speaker 2: party for her, or.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Sam the construction worker. No shade to construction workers. I
- 32:54Speaker 1: don't have fu firework money either. Either. Okay, what did
- 33:01Speaker 1: you rate this movie? I gave it three stars? Oh,
- 33:04Speaker 1: I gave it three point What I liked it? I
- 33:08Speaker 1: was just okay to me. I wanted war from it.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Next week we are back with our final Fall into
- 33:17Speaker 1: Love movie, which is Autumn in the City starring Amy
- 33:20Speaker 1: t Garden. I am quite looking forward to that. I
- 33:22Speaker 1: am hoping not to be disappointed because the week after
- 33:25Speaker 1: that we dive headfirst into countdown to Christmas and Wendy's
- 33:28Speaker 1: still so excited and I am excitedly am so nervous
- 33:32Speaker 1: for the moment that she's like, let's do this, let's
- 33:38Speaker 1: let's maybe we should do it in the Facebook group,
- 33:40Speaker 1: but we should predict, like give a prediction of like
- 33:43Speaker 1: when Wendy wants to tap out yes. And here's what's
- 33:47Speaker 1: funny is I believe you've maybe been including this in
- 33:51Speaker 1: our show notes the schedule of the movie. Yes, we
- 33:54Speaker 1: plan to review, and we have a couple of weeks
- 33:57Speaker 1: that are to be determined, and we put up a
- 33:59Speaker 1: poll in our Facebook group. But there's many weeks where
- 34:02Speaker 1: we have multiple movies that we're reviewing. And every time
