- 0:00Hello and welcome to another episode of the Christian read
- 0:03podcast. Now today's episode is going to
- 0:06be a bit different. I should explain basically I had
- 0:10these two episodes of the podcast from wanna say maybe
- 0:15summer of last year they're quite old episodes and both of
- 0:21these episodes were recorded via Instagram live.
- 0:25Now generally I only tend to use Instagram live when I'm having
- 0:30Connectivity problems with my guests by a zoom because that's
- 0:33how I typically do the podcast. And unfortunately as a result,
- 0:37the episodes don't tend to have very good quality which is
- 0:42entirely out of my control. You know, as I say over chords
- 0:46the podcast through two different means, I do it through
- 0:49zoom and I also simultaneously record with an audio software
- 0:55program thing. Anyway, all of Goes out the
- 1:00window when it has to be done through Instagram live.
- 1:03Now, of course, there are benefits to doing it for
- 1:05Instagram live. For example, it's live.
- 1:08So it's a different version of the podcast.
- 1:11It opens it up potentially for questions from viewers and you
- 1:17might be asking, why am I talking about this?
- 1:19Why am I re releasing these episodes?
- 1:21Well, first things first, I didn't massively promote these
- 1:26two episodes in the beginning, they were on my podcast Clips
- 1:31channel, YouTube channel, and they will also available on
- 1:35Instagram, but I don't think a lot of people saw them, maybe
- 1:37the quality. Put them off, maybe there was
- 1:40just less people listening back. Then I'm always encouraging
- 1:44people to go and check out the order episodes, but I don't know
- 1:47that people always do or want to because I guess, you know,
- 1:52generally You can people tend to be more interested in the latest
- 1:55thing, you're doing as opposed to something you did a year ago
- 1:58or something like that. Not always, you know, some
- 2:00people are fully invested in what you're doing, right?
- 2:03This second. But other people, maybe not so
- 2:06much. And I guess I felt really bad
- 2:09about these two people sort of being left out and not being
- 2:13included in the standard Run for the podcast.
- 2:15I remember telling them at the time that it wouldn't be
- 2:20included and it would be different.
- 2:22It would be Like a part of this new series, I was trying, which
- 2:25I was trying. I was trying to give it a go and
- 2:30they kind of accepted it I suppose and just kind of went
- 2:33with it and we're just happy to do the conversation with me and
- 2:36I treated it exactly the same as I would, any other podcast still
- 2:40did loads of research for it, still trying to engage with
- 2:43everyone and make a good episode and people liked it and
- 2:47everything, but I think it just kind of sucked for them because
- 2:51it wasn't included. Due to my standard run.
- 2:54So here it is, being included in my standard run of episodes, but
- 2:59because I also feel bad for the people who listen to this
- 3:02podcast regularly, who look forward to it being released, I
- 3:07thought I would do some extra content here and kind of add it
- 3:11all together. So you might have like this one
- 3:14big episode basically like three episodes in one essentially and
- 3:20it's part of a new thing that I'm trialing in general.
- 3:23Which is that when I have these episodes that are Instagram live
- 3:26based, which I'm going to have a few more and this is one of the
- 3:29reasons why it prompted my decision to do this because I
- 3:33can't always help the fact that I have to do some episodes via
- 3:36Instagram live. There's going to be at least two
- 3:39that I'm going to be doing in the next month where it's
- 3:42either. It's usually because I have to
- 3:44interview a bunch of people in a group and when that happens
- 3:47unfortunately Zoom doesn't give me the possibility of having
- 3:52several Or in a live stream not live stream in the zoom cool for
- 3:57longer than 40 minutes. I can only record it for 40
- 4:00minutes. I did eventually pay at one
- 4:04point but then it just wasn't financially viable right now.
- 4:08I will pay for it in the future when things are a bit more
- 4:13possible in the finance department is if I haven't
- 4:16finance department, it just sounds more.
- 4:19I don't know. Somehow better doesn't it sounds
- 4:21like Real professional anyway. That's how I'm kind of
- 4:29approaching it and in order to make those episodes Steel.
- 4:36Have the kind of standard feel of the Christian we've podcast.
- 4:39I figure all ads, these kind of, I don't know, whatever this is
- 4:44right now to the beginning of each episode where it's been
- 4:47recorded on Instagram live. So you're always at least get
- 4:51some sort of content where it's just me talking like this.
- 4:55And it's the standard feel of the Christian re podcast.
- 4:58And then, you know, It goes, then to the Lesser quality of of
- 5:04the podcast. I mean, I think if nothing else
- 5:06the most important thing is, can I hear the people in the podcast
- 5:10and is the content? Good.
- 5:12And I stand by everything that I do, everything that I put out,
- 5:16I'm always confident that it will be a good conversation.
- 5:20I wouldn't release it otherwise. And, you know, I anticipate
- 5:25these upcoming episodes to be good.
- 5:28I mean, I would say that wouldn't I did.
- 5:30To say like oh they're gonna be shit, it was seriousness.
- 5:36I just I guess, you know, I really meant what I said at the
- 5:38beginning of the year when I said that I wanted to do more
- 5:41discussion based episodes and I want to try to constantly I
- 5:47suppose evolve, you know, not just with the podcast but in all
- 5:51areas of my life, I'm trying as hard as I possibly can with
- 5:55everything with acting. I'm I'm, you know, I'm applying
- 5:58for new roles all the time for acting and voice acting roles.
- 6:02I'm doing more episodes of the podcast.
- 6:03I'm doing more discussion episodes now, so it's not just
- 6:06guests. I'm doing a lot of things right
- 6:10now, to try to put myself out there as much as I can to test
- 6:15myself to challenge myself. and to just generally create better
- 6:19content, you know that that's my key goal with all of this is
- 6:24what can I do to make sure that I'm producing the best content
- 6:31possible, and You know, constantly improving, I guess is
- 6:37my mindset and because now I've got some people that I know are
- 6:43regularly watching and listening.
- 6:44So thank you very much for listening and watching the
- 6:47podcast. I really appreciate it.
- 6:49It's one of the reasons why I'm not quick to release episodes
- 6:54all the time. Like, for instance, we've missed
- 6:56a week and that was by Design. I didn't have a guest lined up.
- 7:03I think it was What was that? I think there was a no-show at
- 7:07one point and that kind of messed with my schedule and
- 7:10normally, when I get a no-show, I just do a discussion episode
- 7:14but I don't ever want to release something for the sake of it.
- 7:17You know, one of the things that I'm doing is whenever I have a
- 7:20discussion episode, I tend to do even more research than I do for
- 7:25my standard interviews because I'm delving into a topic. and
- 7:30trying to kind of gain a broad understanding of it.
- 7:36But the more complex, the issue is and the more there is to
- 7:39read, the more time, it will take me to prepare the episode.
- 7:43Like, for instance, the episode that I did on Multi potentiality
- 7:46and polymaths, I had to basically read and go through
- 7:50all the different links via both the pages they had on Wikipedia
- 7:53and yes, I know Wikipedia but it's just useful for Science and
- 7:58for other things, you know, it has everything collected in one
- 8:01area and you can check the links to check if the information That
- 8:04Cara and stuff. Anyway I realized I had to do to
- 8:09lots of research and so I spent maybe a good couple of hours
- 8:14because I actually did the research for the episode and
- 8:17then recorded it and released it all in the same day which was a
- 8:20big test for me. I've never done that before but
- 8:23I managed to get it done. But with that topic
- 8:26multipotentialite e and polymaths.
- 8:29There wasn't loads and loads of information like I could
- 8:31potentially have gone down a rabbit hole.
- 8:33Bye. I didn't luckily but there are
- 8:36other topics that are coming up that I'm planning on doing that.
- 8:39I'm actively researching right now that just take time.
- 8:43And I think, you know, I'm a big subscriber to that mindset of
- 8:48less is more and in the sense of releasing less.
- 8:52But when you do release content, it's the best that it possibly
- 8:56can be. I'm a big believer in that and
- 8:59also just taking your time and you know delivering content.
- 9:03Really is going to be engaging for people, you know, wherever
- 9:08you're listening to this, or however, you're listening to
- 9:10this podcast. I imagine it serves one or two
- 9:13purposes. It's either something that you
- 9:16actively look forward to. And whenever it comes out you're
- 9:19eager to see it or listen to it and and gain something from it,
- 9:24be it to be full of laughter and I am not comedian, but if you
- 9:30get a laugh out of it, great or to learn something new.
- 9:33What to discover someone new or just generally to enjoy an hour
- 9:38or two however long it goes right.
- 9:42And I imagine this and I know for a fact, there's other people
- 9:45that listen and watch this podcast and it's sort of like, a
- 9:49background thing, you put it on in the background, maybe while
- 9:52you're driving, or while you're doing work, naughty should be
- 9:55working. I did the same.
- 9:58I mean, I listen to a lot of podcasts, particularly wrestling
- 10:01podcasts. And I often have it on in the
- 10:05background and I really enjoy that I can lose myself in that
- 10:10and get a lot of work done and the time just flies by you know,
- 10:15and recently, I've been getting a lot of wonderful compliments
- 10:17from people telling me that they think I have a voice for radio.
- 10:21They like listening to my voice whatever and you know I'm not
- 10:24good at taking compliments ever. I thank you for those people who
- 10:29did give those compliments. I tried To sort of regarding the
- 10:35except the compliments. But then when I noticed that
- 10:38quite a few people are saying the same thing.
- 10:40I tend to think. Okay, let's do something about
- 10:43this. Let's use this, you know,
- 10:47obviously, you know, I'm not going to walk around thinking,
- 10:50I'm brilliant or anything, I never do.
- 10:53I always think, you know, I always think of myself as like a
- 10:55project that I'm constantly working on, that's what I
- 10:57believe are. Humans are we are just Pete, a
- 11:01work of art that is never finished.
- 11:03That's genuinely what I think we all are.
- 11:06Anyway, with that in mind, you know, Amazing, my train of
- 11:13thought here, this is not good during the middle of a podcast.
- 11:16Know what am I going to do? Want to make sure that if this
- 11:19had been like a year or two ago, I would have been really
- 11:23worried. I would have been upset.
- 11:25I would have been like, oh no, I would have stopped the podcast,
- 11:28ended it there, continued later, but bring me that upset that
- 11:32I've randomly forgotten what I was talking about.
- 11:36But now I don't feel that way. I feel sort of confident in what
- 11:40I'm doing. I know I can pull it back.
- 11:42I can get it where it needs to be and sort of, more
- 11:47importantly, I know that I know what to do in order to make it
- 11:52engaging and interesting and something that people would want
- 11:55to listen to. Because I've spent a lot of time
- 11:58listening to other podcasts that, you know, Do things,
- 12:03right? And I've listened to ones that
- 12:04do things wrong, and Obviously is subjective but I think that
- 12:10the key thing with most podcasts and I've said this in previous
- 12:12episodes. So sorry for beating a dead
- 12:14horse but it's all about structure.
- 12:17It's all about having something you can follow and follow
- 12:22easily. You know, I you'll notice I try
- 12:24not to dark from topic to topic. I try to kind of have a sort of
- 12:30a flow that you can go along with you know, we ease into each
- 12:34topic rather than just dying and I hate going back and Off on,
- 12:38you know going back to something.
- 12:40You heard maybe half an hour ago.
- 12:41That sucks. I think if you're done with one
- 12:44thing and you want to move onto the next thing move on to the
- 12:46next thing, you know, don't just kind of Keep going back and
- 12:51forth because it's that I think is erratic.
- 12:54I think that becomes frustrating to listen to and the last thing
- 12:58I would want my podcast to be is frustrating anyway to the main
- 13:05event. Why it's not the main event.
- 13:07As I said before, this is bonus content attached to two episodes
- 13:12of the podcast. It's all condensed into one big
- 13:14bumper episode and I imagine I'll be releasing this episode
- 13:19along with Several other episodes.
- 13:22I'll be releasing around the same time.
- 13:24All in one goes, you'll get several episodes at once and
- 13:29you'll know that I've done my very best to kind of put
- 13:31everything together and make it as interesting engaging as I
- 13:36can. But, you know, I've been really
- 13:42kind of going out of my way to make sure that I take what you
- 13:45guys say into account. And I'm pursuing radio, I'm
- 13:53pursuing voice acting and I'm pursuing podcasting, you know
- 13:58this year in June. I think June time will be the
- 14:04two-year anniversary of the podcast, which is amazing.
- 14:08You know, I didn't even think we'd get past 10 episodes and
- 14:11here we are. How many episodes has it been
- 14:14170? Something I think 160 something.
- 14:17I don't know. I can't even remember the number
- 14:19at this point, but it's not the numbers.
- 14:21It's not how many it's the quality of each episode.
- 14:25You know. Each episode needs to be as good
- 14:27as the last And that's why I aspired to do anyway.
- 14:31I've rambled on for a long enough.
- 14:33I figured, I would give you this random content that I just, you
- 14:39know, I was hoping I'd get more responses, to be honest, but I
- 14:42figured I could just ad-lib. So, all of this is ADD lived.
- 14:45By the way, I often tend to ad-lib ad-lib ad-lib during
- 14:50their podcasts. When I'm, you know, throwing
- 14:53questions of people, attend to kind of just think of things on
- 14:57the spot and use the existing In questions, I have as a kind of
- 15:01means of guiding the conversation, but sometimes I
- 15:04don't even end up asking all those questions to be honest.
- 15:07It really depends, but normally, I have something prepared, and I
- 15:11do have something prepared here, but my plan was basically just,
- 15:17oh, I've got some things to read here.
- 15:20Let's just see my initial thoughts on each of these things
- 15:24and I'll share it with my audience so I apologize.
- 15:26If this is crap. It's To be a bit of extra
- 15:29content, tagged along tagged along, tagged on to content has
- 15:34already been released, but it's bonus content.
- 15:38But anyway, I keep going on and on and on, and I'm kind of sick
- 15:41of my, the sound of my own voice at this point.
- 15:43So anyway, I asked credit via the arse credit subreddit.
- 15:51What's the biggest life lesson you've learned so far?
- 15:54And I thought this would blow up.
- 15:55I thought it would get loads of responses.
- 15:58I was like, yeah. To be pretty and I maybe I can
- 16:00make a whole podcast out of it. And of course, that was me being
- 16:04naive but I did get a few responses and I thought I would
- 16:08share them with you and I don't know, maybe it'll make for a
- 16:12good title for this because I imagine the title of this
- 16:15episode is going to be something like.
- 16:17I don't know, life lessons from Reddit and then the names of the
- 16:23guests I had on the show previously all in one big
- 16:28bumper. Code.
- 16:29Anyway, I asked the people that read it and as you can imagine,
- 16:33I got some serious answers. I've got some silly answers and
- 16:38I've got some weird answers that.
- 16:41I don't even know how to respond to but this is what people sent
- 16:46me. So the first person said, no
- 16:48matter how much you try to help someone, it will always fail if
- 16:53they don't want to help themselves.
- 16:56I totally agree with this. This is something that For me,
- 17:03as a life lesson in my own life. I kind of learned years ago
- 17:06because I remember in my younger years sort of What about my
- 17:11early 20s? I had a very bad attitude
- 17:14towards life, you know, I wasn't happy, I wasn't in a good place
- 17:17back then, I was working in my customer services and yeah, you
- 17:22know, the story but I just wasn't happy and constantly.
- 17:28I'd hear people saying, oh, you need to do this.
- 17:32If you want to change your life, you got to do this.
- 17:33And it always used to frustrate me hearing that, like, because
- 17:36people would make it sound so easy.
- 17:39Oh, you just need to change your So oh, you just need to do this.
- 17:43And then everything will be different.
- 17:45And there is an element of Truth in that, but the bigger thing
- 17:49that people should tell you in that moment, is that yes, you
- 17:54can change your life for the better, but you're going to have
- 17:58to work for it and you're gonna have to work hard and you won't
- 18:03get it straight away. That's what people should tell
- 18:06you. Maybe they just tell you you
- 18:08know, I will things will get better because that's just the
- 18:11quickest easiest thing to hear but I don't know, I'm a big firm
- 18:15believer in telling people the truth and, you know, giving it
- 18:21to them straight, you know, not leaving anything on said or
- 18:24leaving anything out. And I think that if I'd heard
- 18:27that years ago and heard it enough, I would have accepted it
- 18:31earlier on a probably would have made the changes necessary to
- 18:34becoming the person I am today. But from experience when I have
- 18:41tried to help people that didn't have the right attitude in much
- 18:45the same way as people tried to help me and I didn't have the
- 18:48right attitude, it took getting to a point where I was so
- 18:52miserable that I knew I was forced to change things because
- 18:58if I didn't I don't know what would happened.
- 19:02You know, I just knew I was sick and tired.
- 19:04I was tired of being sort of miserable and depressive and - I
- 19:08hated being like that. I hated myself back then and so
- 19:13I changed my attitude slowly but surely, but I made some key
- 19:17changes in my life, probably the biggest of which was cutting
- 19:20down to part-time hours and then going to college and then going
- 19:25to University you know all these changes happened in the space of
- 19:28a year and my life look totally different a year later but my
- 19:34attitude was the biggest thing that changed.
- 19:36And from that point onwards, you know, I'm not going to say it
- 19:41was like all sunshine and daisies because it wasn't some
- 19:43of the hardest times were still yet to come, but at least my
- 19:48head was beginning to become. You know, grow to the point
- 19:54where it was in the right headspace.
- 19:56You know. And I think the biggest thing
- 19:59that's actually changed over the years for me, as I've spent a
- 20:01lot more time being introspective and I think this
- 20:06is something that we all need to do or find time to do at points
- 20:10in our lives so that we can reflect on what has happened.
- 20:15Good and bad in our lives so far come to terms with it,
- 20:19understand it. It and grow and learn from it,
- 20:22but we have to have that time. If we never stop to reflect, we
- 20:25never learn anything but Eastern in my perspective.
- 20:30Now, specifically regarding other people with this saying,
- 20:35yeah, I've seen it, you know, there's been times when I've
- 20:37given people advice and, you know, I can see that they're
- 20:41just not going to listen to me and I'm wasting my breath and
- 20:45largely that can be due to stubbornness.
- 20:47But I think, I think it tends to be more down to people feeling
- 20:52trapped, people feeling, like, whatever people say to them,
- 20:57it's hopeless because they can't imagine how things could be
- 21:00better if they'd follow this advice.
- 21:02But the funny thing is when they do eventually kind of open up
- 21:06and begin to accept people, And their advice and and trying
- 21:13something different going out of their comfort zone.
- 21:17They find that thing's actually change pretty quickly and
- 21:21amazingly. So like I'll give you an
- 21:23example, just going back to me being miserable in that first
- 21:27job, I had 18 through to 24 21 or just before I was 21.
- 21:33So it's about 3 years around time that I dropped from
- 21:38full-time to part-time hours because I've worked there for
- 21:41about two years full time. I was obviously, considering
- 21:46going to college and I was Looking at, you know, how would
- 21:48she would cost and what I would need to do and a big worry and
- 21:52concern of mine at the time. Was will I be able to cut down
- 21:55my hours? What if they say, no, what do I
- 21:58do? Will I have to find a new job.
- 22:00What am I gonna do? Like obviously, all these
- 22:02whirring thoughts went through my head and I was young and
- 22:05inexperienced and didn't realize that things would be fine.
- 22:08Either way. I was just scared.
- 22:12I was worried and the funny thing was at the time, I had a
- 22:16particular boss. Who wasn't pleasant?
- 22:19They weren't a bad person. I think they were just young and
- 22:22had a bad attitude towards things here and there and they
- 22:25weren't always unreasonable, but they were riding me pretty hard,
- 22:28as far as, you know, being a little bit unfair here and there
- 22:32and we didn't like each other. At one point, we eventually got
- 22:36on good terms. But I think for the first kind
- 22:39of six months of working together or how other however
- 22:42long it was we just didn't get on and they knew I didn't like
- 22:45them and I'm pretty sure. They didn't like me and we just
- 22:49think on we tried to be professional at all times but
- 22:51bear in mind I was young. I was like 19 20 at the time.
- 22:56Anyway, it came to me needing to cut my hours down and that meant
- 23:02I had to directly talk to this manager.
- 23:04So I had to ask this manager who didn't like me, who knows?
- 23:07I don't like them for a favor essentially and it blew me away
- 23:13and this is when people surprise you how wonderfully
- 23:18accommodating. This person was, when I did ask
- 23:21them, I remember it very clearly.
- 23:23We were sitting down in this, in this kind of like, Random
- 23:27meeting room was like a tiny little room with a old ass
- 23:30computer from like the 2000s that we rarely ever went in.
- 23:35I don't even know what that room was for, to be honest.
- 23:37I think it was just for monitoring certain things.
- 23:40Anyway, we went in that room and we sat down and we went through
- 23:44what? My new hours would be, and we
- 23:46sort of, I don't know how to put it, we sort of negotiated the
- 23:50hours and I was saying all these hours would work for me and he
- 23:53said, oh well, you've got to be a little bit flexible.
- 23:56Christian, you might need to kind of give us something that
- 24:00will work for us. And we agreed basically on hours
- 24:04that would work for me during the week couple of days a week.
- 24:06And then I My Sacrifice, if you like was I gave them a Shift on
- 24:11a on a Saturday, you know, because I tried to get a morning
- 24:16shift and they were like, no, we need you here for most of the
- 24:18day, and as I go, I don't want to do a close, okay, should we
- 24:21do a mid-shift? Okay, agreed.
- 24:23And we agreed on it, and I was happy with that and those shifts
- 24:27sucked, but hey, I was now as only working three days a week,
- 24:30I didn't feel trapped there anymore.
- 24:33I was able to do over time which was A New Concept for me and do
- 24:38it on my terms and I felt a lot happier. during that final year,
- 24:42I'm still hard, but finally, I realized and this is the point
- 24:48by getting out of my comfort zone and Not being afraid, just
- 24:55just going for it and seeing what happens, things changed,
- 24:58and they change for the better. But crucially, they took time to
- 25:02change and that's what we need to exercise his patients.
- 25:07But yeah, that's quite a tangent along from what they said, no
- 25:10matter how much you try to help some women will always fail if
- 25:13they don't want to help themselves.
- 25:14Yeah, I mean, just to tie a bow on that there's got to be that
- 25:18willingness to change from the person themselves.
- 25:21They've got to be in the mindset of the when they receive advice
- 25:25from people around them. They have to be willing and
- 25:28ready to try those things even if they don't necessarily agree
- 25:32with them and they think of maybe this would be detrimental
- 25:35to me. They just need to try anyway,
- 25:39unless they know definitely, it's not going to work because
- 25:42not all advice that you receive is good advice for you.
- 25:46You have to think about whether or not it's good advice for you.
- 25:51But action is always better than in action.
- 25:53You know, your situation is never going to get better if you
- 25:56do nothing. So yeah, anyway, let's move it
- 26:01on one person said never give anyone up, never let anyone down
- 26:05never run around and desert someone and iconic song, of
- 26:09course. Yeah, I don't know.
- 26:13There's that just tickled me real thought.
- 26:14I was funny. They begin to give once one
- 26:19person said everyone sucks. X and that got quite a few
- 26:23upvotes. I know the feeling, I mean,
- 26:27okay, I know this is a funny comment but maybe there's an
- 26:30area of seriousness in this, you know, I felt like this times
- 26:35where you know, seemingly everyone is just against you or
- 26:41causing you problems or just not worth your time.
- 26:46But I can assure you. It's not true.
- 26:47Even if it feels that way, more often than not what you need to
- 26:51do is Branch out, put yourself out there and try different
- 26:56things, get out and about and you'll realize that, not
- 26:59everyone indeed sucks. It could just be the immediate
- 27:02people around you either in your workplace or at home or
- 27:06whatever, are not your people and your people are out there.
- 27:10You just need to find them and that might mean by.
- 27:14I don't know joining clubs. Clubs trying things you've never
- 27:17done before but you want to do, you know, getting out of your
- 27:20comfort zone? I say again, but it's important,
- 27:22you need to do that. You need to get out there and
- 27:27you'll you will realize that not everyone sucks.
- 27:30So there you go. Moving on.
- 27:33You can't pour from an empty cup and this person said it's a
- 27:37quote that they live by recently.
- 27:41You can't pour from an empty cup.
- 27:44I would assume this means, This is talking about.
- 27:52Everyone, literally. It's what's within within
- 27:55someone? Isn't it?
- 27:56I guess? you know, you need to There's
- 28:03gotta be something within you. Maybe I'm just butchering this,
- 28:06I don't know the way I anticipate anticipate interpret.
- 28:10This quote, is that within you? There needs to be some kind of
- 28:15motivation. There needs to be something
- 28:18driving, you look, a driving force of some description. it's
- 28:23like you can't you running on empty, can't run them reserves,
- 28:26you can't run on nothing, you gotta You got to be in good
- 28:30condition, you got to take care of yourself, you know, from a
- 28:33physical and mental standpoint. But there's got to be something
- 28:36within you, some driving force. Something that's keeping you
- 28:39going and pushing you and moving you forward.
- 28:44That's how I interpret that quote and in that sense I would
- 28:47tend to agree with it. I also will add this though that
- 28:51I think sometimes it's okay if you've got nothing to offer in
- 28:55that particular moment, you know, I don't think that we're
- 28:58not robots, we're not supposed to, you know, continuously
- 29:03contribute and give give give all the time.
- 29:07No matter what, Society, might tell us, or expect from us.
- 29:10We're not robots. We need to rest.
- 29:12We need to Relax, sometimes, sometimes we need to take a side
- 29:16seat. You know, I'm sure you've been
- 29:18in group situations before where, you know, maybe you're
- 29:21often expected to be the leader, or to, you know, push things
- 29:26forward. But you know what, sometimes,
- 29:28it's good to sort of just observe a bit, you know, I do
- 29:32that, as I've gotten older, I observe a hell of a lot more
- 29:34than I used to Because I don't feel the need to be in control
- 29:41of everything. I feel the need to be in control
- 29:43of everything in my own life. And I think that's important for
- 29:45everyone to have a grip. A kind of Just control of what's
- 29:52going on in their own particular life, but I don't think it's
- 29:55necessary. but not maybe just you know focus on the things
- 30:01that you can control and the things you know you have
- 30:04influence over but don't worry too much about the things that
- 30:07you don't have influence over and Yeah, just observe a bit
- 30:13more. See what you can learn, so we
- 30:15can pick up. I don't know.
- 30:16That's, that's what I take from that.
- 30:19If you want to lose a friend, lend them money.
- 30:22Uh-huh. I'm 50/50 on this, I'm 50/50
- 30:29because I think it depends. You know, I do think generally
- 30:33it's not a good idea to sort of go into business with friends or
- 30:39to borrow large amounts of money from Friends. because, yeah, you
- 30:46know, maybe that could lead to the end of a friendship
- 30:49potentially, but I don't know. You know, I mean, I've borrowed
- 30:51money from friends and paid them back.
- 30:53I've had friends, borrow money from me, some of whom paid me
- 30:57back, some of whom didn't. I've never really been one to
- 31:00chase people up for for money because I kind of see that.
- 31:05It's like low Behavior. You know, I'm not the tax man,
- 31:09you know me if they're not going to pay me back, I just know.
- 31:12Well, they don't respect me enough so I'm not going to help
- 31:17them again. You know what I mean?
- 31:20But then again, I've never lent like the large amounts of money.
- 31:23We're talking like 50 Quid here, 100 there, you know, like 20,
- 31:27quit here, like nothing. It's like Pocket Change, you
- 31:29know? And I think if you can help
- 31:32people, you should, you know, but you know, you're not, you're
- 31:36not a bank and people shouldn't treat you as such if they know
- 31:41you they should. You back even if they say, oh,
- 31:44don't worry. Don't pay me back.
- 31:46I mean, unless they really reluctant like I know, I'm
- 31:49reluctant when people want to pay me back, I'm like, no, no,
- 31:52no please don't. But I'm very happy that they
- 31:55offered and that they, that was on their mind because that's how
- 31:58it would be with me. I'd be very conscientious of the
- 32:01fact that I owe someone money and I'd want to pay them back.
- 32:05So like I said, I'm 50/50 on that.
- 32:06I think it depends on who you're lending the money too.
- 32:12And if you can trust them or not on that sense, but it's a tricky
- 32:16one, isn't it? The jury's out on that one?
- 32:19Here's another one. Should we save that one till the
- 32:23end? Yeah, I'll come back to that one
- 32:26because that's a big one. Nothing great comes from anyone
- 32:31ordinary. And in this person said, quote
- 32:33by me, unless I just saw that somewhere and forgot about it.
- 32:36If so, let me know I disagree entirely with that quote.
- 32:42I get what it's trying to say but I think some of the most
- 32:47amazing people I've ever met in my life are indeed just ordinary
- 32:50everyday people. I think everyone is capable of
- 32:56something extraordinary, if you give them a chance, and I've
- 32:59seen it many times over. I mean, when I was volunteering,
- 33:03I saw some of the most amazing kindness and acts of generosity
- 33:10in and just all the nice things you could imagine from just
- 33:15seemingly. Everyday people that you want
- 33:17passed in the street. So, great things are Always
- 33:24capable of coming out of ordinary people.
- 33:28And I think, you know, in our minds, we often look at like,
- 33:32the most intelligent or talented people and society, and we
- 33:36regard them as these extra Ordinary larger-than-life
- 33:39People. But, you know, the biggest thing
- 33:41about those people that makes them different from everyone
- 33:43else is not so much their talent, it's their drive.
- 33:47It's the fact that they kept pushing to that point, because
- 33:51people forget rule, Born. you know, in the same way, more or
- 33:57less, and the key things that separate us tend to be are
- 34:03circumstances where we were born.
- 34:06The households, we were born into the countries, were born
- 34:08into the opportunities that were afforded or not afforded.
- 34:11You know, these factors change things and make it either easier
- 34:16or more difficult, but we're still all going to face
- 34:19different battles some more so than others, right?
- 34:25But that drive that willingness to be the best and keep pushing
- 34:30yourself forward. Never giving up like that is
- 34:33something that we all have and often.
- 34:35It's a choice thing, you know? I mean it's I choose to just
- 34:39keep pushing and never stopping until I get what I want.
- 34:42I mean I'm the same. You know, you might hear me
- 34:45Grumble from time to time about not having what I want, but I
- 34:48never give up. I keep trying because it's just
- 34:50not in me to give up. It really isn't?
- 34:53I'm not going to say, I've never given up in life because I have.
- 34:55But, you know what? I came right back full circle to
- 34:58where we are now. And look at me all these Years
- 35:01later doing working probably harder than I've ever worked in
- 35:04my entire life. Trying to make something of
- 35:07myself in entertainment, in all shapes and forms.
- 35:13I'm trying because I can't imagine not trying and I just
- 35:21unequivocally just completely disagree with this quote and
- 35:26often. When I see these sorts of
- 35:27quotes, I know that it's coming from a - minded person.
- 35:31And I'm not trying to criticize that person.
- 35:33It's just, this is the sort of thing I used to say when I was -
- 35:37minded, you know, as I go yeah, nothing greater than to me.
- 35:41Oh yeah, that'll never happen. It's like how do you know unless
- 35:44you try? How do you know?
- 35:45You don't know. So try Human beings.
- 35:52Are we unique and pretty much all the same.
- 35:56Mmm, this is an interesting one. And when we roll, we definitely
- 35:59all unique. This is true.
- 36:02No two. Human beings are exactly the
- 36:04same though, you will find human beings that are similar.
- 36:09You, you will have met the similar type of person many
- 36:11times over but that exact how to put it.
- 36:21The way that one person is assembled in it all senses of
- 36:25the work of the sense. I can't even speak right now.
- 36:27I do apologize. All the ways that that
- 36:30particular person is put together is unique to them and
- 36:33them only. But you are going to find
- 36:36similar personalities, similar looking people similar tastes in
- 36:42an interest in things, Etc, it's similar ideas, you know, no, two
- 36:46ideas or ever original, but maybe the way they communicated
- 36:50can be, I don't know. but this is kind of saying two
- 36:56contradictory things which are both true, which I find
- 36:59interesting because we are all unique and yet, fundamentally,
- 37:04we are the same Society divides us and makes us Divide ourselves
- 37:12and treat each other differently and such but we are pretty.
- 37:16We are fundamentally the same. We're all human beings, you
- 37:19know? And we often have to learn how
- 37:25to be the best versions of ourselves and that comes through
- 37:28life experience and the willingness to accept life
- 37:31lessons as they come and to move forward.
- 37:34And as I said before, to put take ourselves out of our
- 37:37comfort zone, and do the very best we can To really make the
- 37:43most out of ourselves. You know, I always think it
- 37:46comes down to choice. We don't always get choice in
- 37:50life as far as what happens to us.
- 37:54I mean, you know, mostly life is things that happen to us, but we
- 37:58do at least have Choice over decisions in our lives.
- 38:03You know, a or b, a b c. You know, we often get presented
- 38:07decisions, we have to make a choice and that choice can often
- 38:12be impactful on our lives, you know, I think of times in my
- 38:16life where there's job. Turn down and I wonder would, my
- 38:20life have been better. If I had taken the other job,
- 38:24would have been worse who's to say?
- 38:26All I know is in that moment, I made the right decision for me
- 38:31that I stand by. I think I made the right
- 38:34decision in that moment, but I guess you'll never know until
- 38:37the very end, right? But all you can do is your best.
- 38:41So and I guess we'll end on this big quote, which I haven't even
- 38:47read, but I can already see that.
- 38:48It's good. This one person says, treat
- 38:52everyone with kindness. You never know what they're
- 38:56going through. It doesn't always justify their
- 38:58actions or attitude, but I know I've had some days where people,
- 39:03who would have thought. I was a much different person
- 39:05because of the way I was acting some of those people who you
- 39:09have one interaction with. And then decide what kind of
- 39:13person they are based on that lost their dad that day, or
- 39:16their mum, maybe they lost their job or relapse tough to being
- 39:20sober for ten years. You just never know.
- 39:22I wish I understood this sooner in life.
- 39:24Yeah, thank you very much. I'm going to say the name
- 39:28shocked cooler underscore OG on Reddit.
- 39:32I totally agree with you. You know, I think about some of
- 39:38the worst days in my life where I was breaking down.
- 39:42Strangest kindness sometimes people even people, I found that
- 39:47I thought didn't like me or had a problem with me.
- 39:50Surprise me with their kindness in some of my lowest moments.
- 39:54I all, I honestly think that us humans were at our best when
- 39:58we're lifting each other up. when we're consciously, making
- 40:05an effort to just push each other forward.
- 40:10You know, little things can often mean so much.
- 40:16And I think we just have to make it habit in our lives to help
- 40:20those around us as much as possible.
- 40:23And you know, with what this person is saying, yeah, treat
- 40:26everyone with kindness, even if they're being nasty to you,
- 40:30that's not to say that you have to know, completely turn the
- 40:33other cheek and just let them be horrible to you completely, but
- 40:37be understanding realize that we all have bad days.
- 40:43We will have our moments and maybe that, you know, doesn't
- 40:46fully reflect the complete nature of a person.
- 40:49It's probably just a bad moment, a bad day, you know, takes time,
- 40:56I think to fully understand the intentions of a person and how
- 41:02they operate and such and now, I think about a lot of times in my
- 41:09life, where I've chose to be kind because it is a choice
- 41:15often it you know I mean for me it comes naturally because I'm a
- 41:20person who is very conscientious of like they're more compass and
- 41:25stuff. I'm not going to sit here and
- 41:27tell you, I am perfect human being or something, or I've
- 41:29always made the right decisions, because that's not true.
- 41:32Sometimes I've been spiteful, sometimes I've been selfish
- 41:36sometimes, I've been deliberately mean and, you know,
- 41:38I'm ashamed of that, but in those moments, I realized, when
- 41:44I reflected on it, it came down to Ego.
- 41:47It came down to Ignorance lack of emotional maturity, all these
- 41:53things, you know? We get the very best out of
- 41:56ourselves. When we are kind and we make the
- 42:01right decisions that benefit, not only ourselves, but everyone
- 42:04else around us, you know, with everything that I do.
- 42:08And that I'm aspiring for in my own life as far as my goals and
- 42:12aspirations are concerned. I always try to make sure that
- 42:16I'm lifting up other people and helping other people and, and
- 42:19making a fuss of other people and their achievements.
- 42:22You know, I'm proud of everyone around me that's doing.
- 42:25When I want them to do well. And there's no point getting
- 42:29jealous of people or, you know, being upset that others are
- 42:33doing well and not you, your time will come.
- 42:36I fully believe maybe one day, my time will come.
- 42:40I hope my time will come. I don't know.
- 42:43But one thing I do know is that it's never a bad thing or a
- 42:48waste to be kind to people, that's always going to be worth
- 42:53so much more than money or anything else could ever.
- 42:58Be worse. I hope you've enjoyed this
- 43:02little impromptu section of the podcast.
- 43:07I did my best to make it interesting and engaging.
- 43:09Thank you to all the people on Reddit.
- 43:10Who answered my question. Who knows, maybe I'll do more of
- 43:14these in the future. Yeah, let me know what kind of
- 43:18stuff you want to hear in these kind of episodes that I do these
- 43:21Instagram lives in, I share these lives in again.
- 43:24I apologize for the quality of what's about to come It's
- 43:28Instagram live. There's nothing I can do about
- 43:30it but I thought I'd give you one bumper episode.
- 43:33As I said before, that's got a bit of everything in it and I
- 43:37don't know, it's something different, isn't it?
- 43:38I'm trying something different. I hope you like it.
- 43:41I hope you enjoy these two older episodes, which I'm very proud
- 43:44of the guests were fantastic and I believe that they should be
- 43:50showcased and not hidden away on an old Channel that I have.
- 43:58So this is me given them another shot and trying to promote them
- 44:01as well as try something different with this podcast
- 44:05structure, as I continue to grow as a podcaster and get better as
- 44:13if nothing else. I think what we've sort of
- 44:16spoken about throughout the course of these last well 45
- 44:19minutes but there is personal growth and wanting to get better
- 44:25and making a commitment to that. And the decision to continuously
- 44:30work on oneself. So, without further Ado, I hope
- 44:35that you enjoy these two episodes and this whole bonus
- 44:38episode in its entirety. Thank you so much for listening,
- 44:42and please check out these two extra episodes.
- 44:46Peace be with you, I'll see you real soon.
