- 0:10Speaker 1: Winter Insurance did true the troth I'm a check Insurance
- 0:15Speaker 1: gets the audults.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Hey, everybody, welcome to an emergency episode of Conspiracy The Show.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I'm your host, Adam Todd Brown joining me as co
- 0:40Speaker 2: host this week.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Who are you wi? You? Jessey, Jame Scott?
- 0:44Speaker 2: This is an emergency. Here's the thing. I wasn't even
- 0:47Speaker 2: gonna do an episode this week because I've been sick.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I've been very sick, and there already wasn't an episode
- 0:53Speaker 2: up the normal day this podcast goes up. So I
- 0:56Speaker 2: was just gonna take it easy for a week, come
- 0:59Speaker 2: back swing next week hopefully when I regain my strength.
- 1:03Speaker 2: But then astro World happened, and it happened so hard,
- 1:08Speaker 2: it really did. And astro World happened, and then the
- 1:12Speaker 2: stories about what may or may not have happened at
- 1:16Speaker 2: astro World happened, and I was like, well, we got
- 1:20Speaker 2: to talk about that. So here we are my flu game,
- 1:24Speaker 2: if you will, coming off the bench, hobbled working on
- 1:28Speaker 2: a torn acl to talk about astro World.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Jason, Really, he's really getting called in with an injury here?
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, getting called into work even though I'm sick.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Who among this been there.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I've just been hyper focused on this, hyper fixated for
- 1:42Speaker 1: the past whatever three days it's been. And my entire
- 1:47Speaker 1: FYP on TikTok, which stands for for you page if
- 1:50Speaker 1: you don't know, by FYP, every single video, every other
- 1:55Speaker 1: video is Astro World. And so I have compiled so
- 2:00Speaker 1: much information already, just independently because I'm a psycho. And
- 2:04Speaker 1: then Adam was like, do you want to do this
- 2:06Speaker 1: emergency podcast? I was like, yes, I'm so glad. I
- 2:10Speaker 1: was hyper fixated for three days.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Once I saw how much of this is spreading
- 2:14Speaker 2: on TikTok, I figured you'd be the best person for
- 2:18Speaker 2: this because I don't know anyone who uses TikTok the
- 2:21Speaker 2: way you use TikTok, which is to say I don't
- 2:25Speaker 2: really know anyone who uses TikTok except you.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I don't know anyone who uses TikTok like I do either, So.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I figured you would have some insight into that side
- 2:37Speaker 2: of things. But yeah, Astro World. Just to give people
- 2:41Speaker 2: some background if you somehow haven't heard about this, It's
- 2:45Speaker 2: a music festival that was launched by rapper Travis Scott
- 2:50Speaker 2: in twenty eighteen, and I like Travis Scott, I like
- 2:53Speaker 2: his music. I liked the Astro World album a whole lot.
- 2:58Speaker 2: So there's all that is. This year astro World the festival.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Some people died, eight people confirmed dead, more than three
- 3:06Speaker 2: hundred injured at the November fifth performance of the Astro
- 3:11Speaker 2: World Festival. And uh, it's crazy. It's some crazy shit.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Travis Scott's set started around nine pm, and by nine
- 3:21Speaker 2: thirty pm the show had already been paused briefly to
- 3:25Speaker 2: bring an ambulance into the crowd, which is one of
- 3:28Speaker 2: the first really crazy details to me, because once you
- 3:31Speaker 2: have to drive an ambulance into the crowd, I feel
- 3:34Speaker 2: like you could take a ten minute postponement and.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah, you could definitely be like, hey, let's take a
- 3:39Speaker 1: breather and figure out what this ambulance is. And also
- 3:43Speaker 1: keep in mind, an ambulance is a truck. It's a
- 3:47Speaker 1: big thing. It's not a little car. It's not a
- 3:51Speaker 1: little cop car. Also, I had no idea that you
- 3:54Speaker 1: had listened to the Travis Scott album. I don't know
- 3:57Speaker 1: anyone besides you who has listened to it.
- 4:00Speaker 2: It was like, yes, one of my favorite albums that year.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Really, you didn't bring it up on trend Pony.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I don't think tren Pony existed way back.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Oh, okay, so it's kind of old, I see.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah, the album's been out a while. Okay, Yeah, it's
- 4:17Speaker 2: a really good album.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I've just known that Travis Scott bands were the worst
- 4:21Speaker 1: because one day when I worked at Meltdown Comics, we
- 4:24Speaker 1: had a very small inventory of Travis Scott dolls that
- 4:28Speaker 1: he had released, and that was such a bad day
- 4:31Speaker 1: that I have blocked out the details of how terrible
- 4:34Speaker 1: Travis Scott fans were.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't know a lot about Travis Scott as
- 4:40Speaker 2: an individual before this. I really just kind of knew
- 4:45Speaker 2: that Astro World album, and yeah, he seems like kind
- 4:48Speaker 2: of a piece of shit. Like there's there's a really
- 4:51Speaker 2: wild story that I guess started circulating in twenty thirteen
- 4:55Speaker 2: that has understandably come up again since this story broke,
- 4:59Speaker 2: where he basically left his manager to die in the
- 5:04Speaker 2: basement of a house in Los Angeles his mind. Yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 2: his manager was having a seizure and Travis Scott and
- 5:12Speaker 2: his friend were like, well, we're out of here. And
- 5:14Speaker 2: then the next day he fired him because he didn't
- 5:17Speaker 2: want a manager who was epileptic like he which.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Is so evil. That's so fucking evil.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I mean, it's borderline illegal. I think, like, I guess
- 5:27Speaker 2: you can.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Think manslaughter right, well, no leave someone for dead though, well.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I mean that, but from a labor law standpoint, I don't.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Oh, that's discrimination for sure.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I don't know that legally you can sit someone down
- 5:39Speaker 2: and go, hey, we have epilepsy and I don't want
- 5:43Speaker 2: you around TI, which is one of the things he
- 5:45Speaker 2: said to this guy is that I don't want you
- 5:49Speaker 2: flopping around on the floor when tis around.
- 5:52Speaker 1: That is so gross.
- 5:54Speaker 2: So I don't know if I would have fucked with
- 5:55Speaker 2: that Astro World album in the first place.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I had already known that the fan
- 6:03Speaker 1: base was uncool, so I just never tried. I never
- 6:06Speaker 1: even tried to listen to his music. I couldn't name
- 6:08Speaker 1: a song, which is crazy.
- 6:10Speaker 2: You know, there's one song I'm gonna have to fucking
- 6:14Speaker 2: look it up because now I can't think of the
- 6:16Speaker 2: name of it. Yeah, google an Astra World's gonna help.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Right now.
- 6:22Speaker 1: They're like, do you mean the theme park, which it.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Is actually a theme park also in Houston. Yes, Sicko
- 6:30Speaker 2: Mode that song from the Astra World album. Fucking rules,
- 6:35Speaker 2: and it's why I listened to that album in the
- 6:38Speaker 2: first place. I heard that song on a satellite radio station,
- 6:43Speaker 2: and uh, that's a great fucking song.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But damn now I want listen to it. Now is
- 6:48Speaker 1: not the time I think I won't like it either way,
- 6:51Speaker 1: I think you like, I probably will like it. Also,
- 6:54Speaker 1: I'll probably hear it and go, oh, I do like
- 6:56Speaker 1: this song, and I do know this song is probably
- 6:58Speaker 1: what would happen.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it wasn't an obscure song like it was
- 7:02Speaker 2: one of the lead singles off that album.
- 7:04Speaker 1: That happens to me a lot where I'm like, oh, right,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I have heard this a thousand million times.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yeah, well I had forgotten the name of it. So
- 7:12Speaker 2: so yeah, Travis Scott has some unseemly behavior in his past,
- 7:18Speaker 2: and a lot of it deals with kind of a
- 7:21Speaker 2: disregard for the safety of his fans.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Right. He wants people to get fucking reckless, is.
- 7:27Speaker 2: The main vibe, and that really came to a head
- 7:31Speaker 2: at Astro World this year. The show was deemed a
- 7:36Speaker 2: mass casualty event by police and firefighters at nine thirty
- 7:40Speaker 2: eight pm.
- 7:41Speaker 1: So that's so crazy.
- 7:43Speaker 2: About eight minutes after that, ambulance comes in, which that
- 7:47Speaker 2: makes it really a whole what did the president know
- 7:51Speaker 2: and when did he know it kind of thing.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Very much that that's a perfect metaphor for it, for.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Sure, because yeah, if Travis Scott new to pause the
- 8:01Speaker 2: show so that ambulance could come in and then eight
- 8:04Speaker 2: minutes later they're like, people are fucking dying. Someone could
- 8:08Speaker 2: have got that message to Travis Scott. And if they
- 8:11Speaker 2: did and he was like, now I'm just gonna keep
- 8:13Speaker 2: the show going anyway, that's that's a bad look. That's
- 8:17Speaker 2: a very bad look.
- 8:18Speaker 1: That leaves so much room for people also to be like,
- 8:23Speaker 1: oh my god, do you hear that? I'm sorry, do
- 8:24Speaker 1: you hear that? Blower? Okay, stopped anyway? That leaves so
- 8:27Speaker 1: much room for people to be like he wanted people
- 8:32Speaker 1: to die, like even like people are gonna just jump
- 8:35Speaker 1: from that to that conclusion because and also the man
- 8:39Speaker 1: can see again, an ambulance is a fucking truck.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the thing. This Although there are some parallels
- 8:46Speaker 2: to Woodstock ninety nine, obviously this isn't the same crowd
- 8:50Speaker 2: like Woodstock ninety now hundreds of thousands of people. This
- 8:54Speaker 2: was tens of thousands in a parking lot, and there
- 8:57Speaker 2: are so many videos of these things happening, just in
- 9:02Speaker 2: clear eyeshot of Travis Scott. He's standing on a platform
- 9:07Speaker 2: like fifty feet in the fucking air, so he can see, yeah, everything,
- 9:12Speaker 2: And you sent the one video that you can tell
- 9:15Speaker 2: from where he's at. If he just focused on that
- 9:18Speaker 2: part of the crowd, he would be like, oh, someone's
- 9:20Speaker 2: clearly like dying.
- 9:21Speaker 1: The one where they're loading a kid onto a fucking stretcher,
- 9:25Speaker 1: and he's up on that fifty foot platform, like the
- 9:28Speaker 1: higher one than the stage, like the independent like beam,
- 9:32Speaker 1: and then he you see this kid pan up with
- 9:35Speaker 1: his phone camera from the medics putting this kid on
- 9:39Speaker 1: a stretcher. They pan up to him standing up in
- 9:42Speaker 1: the air, facing them, and then he just turns in
- 9:46Speaker 1: the other direction. It literally looks like he sees what's
- 9:50Speaker 1: going on and just turns his back on it.
- 9:52Speaker 2: It really does. And it's almost I can't tell if
- 9:56Speaker 2: that one is more or less damning than another one.
- 10:00Speaker 2: When I saw that, I'll try and look for it
- 10:02Speaker 2: and put it in the notes. We really are doing
- 10:04Speaker 2: this kind of at the last minute. But he was
- 10:06Speaker 2: on that same platform and there's a woman being carried
- 10:10Speaker 2: out of the crowd unconscious, like she's being crowdsurfed to safety,
- 10:15Speaker 2: and he's on that platform, just fucking looking right at that,
- 10:19Speaker 2: and he's.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Still so incriminating, Like, and that's the thing.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Once you have to stop to bring an ambulance in
- 10:26Speaker 2: at nine to thirty and you still see people are
- 10:29Speaker 2: being hauled out like ten fifteen minutes later, you gotta
- 10:32Speaker 2: be like, all right, maybe we should maybe we should
- 10:35Speaker 2: stop for a minute and let things settle down a
- 10:38Speaker 2: little bit. And he never fucking did it.
- 10:40Speaker 1: No, And I don't think I sent this to you
- 10:44Speaker 1: because I just saw it this morning, But I guess
- 10:46Speaker 1: after Astroworld, Travis Scott went to a Davenbusters.
- 10:50Speaker 2: He sure did, yeah, which actually kind of leads me
- 10:55Speaker 2: to believe he didn't know the full extent of what
- 10:58Speaker 2: was happening.
- 10:59Speaker 1: That's what I was thinking. I was like, is that
- 11:01Speaker 1: a clever Kardashian moment, Like literally like to be like,
- 11:05Speaker 1: oh my god, I didn't even know we went to
- 11:07Speaker 1: a daven Busters.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I think I've looked extensively into the Dave and Busters thing.
- 11:15Speaker 2: It was actually a party, like an after party that
- 11:19Speaker 2: Drake had scheduled.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Oh my god, Drake fucking would be the kind of
- 11:24Speaker 1: guy that has an after party at David Busters.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Okay, am I supposed to be mad at him for that,
- 11:30Speaker 2: because I love that.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Drake is so funny.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I love an after party at Davin Busters.
- 11:38Speaker 1: It's truly hilarious. Like I rented out the whole Dave
- 11:41Speaker 1: and Busters.
- 11:42Speaker 2: They do say that at Dave and Busters is where
- 11:47Speaker 2: Travis Scott found out the full magnitude of what happened,
- 11:51Speaker 2: which means like, that's like a fucking George Bush reading
- 11:56Speaker 2: a book about goats to kids during nine.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Absolutely was this same exact moment I visualized. I was like,
- 12:03Speaker 1: this is his kindergarten reading.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Moment, playing ski ball, and some fucking record label exact
- 12:09Speaker 2: just comes up and whispers he's.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Whackam moling and they're like, Travis.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Travis shooting fucking free throws awful awful. No, so yeah,
- 12:22Speaker 2: Travis Scott was. Travis Scott went to Dave and Busters
- 12:25Speaker 2: after all this happened, and also kind of the the
- 12:28Speaker 2: video of the girl on the platform trying to get
- 12:33Speaker 2: the video guy's attention. That also sort of leads me
- 12:36Speaker 2: to believe people weren't telling Travis Scott everything he needed
- 12:41Speaker 2: to know, which doesn't. Again, once you see people being
- 12:44Speaker 2: carried out and ambulances being brought in, like you're the
- 12:47Speaker 2: one who can stop it, so you should fucking stop it.
- 12:50Speaker 2: But also that cameraman, that's a bad look because he
- 12:53Speaker 2: had if people will link to this video too, but
- 12:56Speaker 2: basically one of the first videos that came out was
- 12:59Speaker 2: this a girl and a guy trying to tell a
- 13:03Speaker 2: cameraman in the audience that someone was dying in.
- 13:06Speaker 1: This girl literally goes, there's someone dead in there.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're like, you got to stop the show.
- 13:12Speaker 2: There's someone dead in the audience, And the guy finds
- 13:15Speaker 2: time to like argue with them and tell them to
- 13:18Speaker 2: get off the platform, and in the process of doing that,
- 13:22Speaker 2: he moves around and you see he's got a fucking
- 13:24Speaker 2: walkie talkie on. Like, if you have time to be
- 13:27Speaker 2: this worried about fucking up Travis Scott's camera angle, you
- 13:31Speaker 2: have time to be like, all right, tell me what's happening.
- 13:33Speaker 2: And then you get on that walkie talkie and you
- 13:35Speaker 2: tell the person above you. And then that video goes
- 13:38Speaker 2: from horrifying to well, at least someone tried to help, Like,
- 13:42Speaker 2: at least that guy yeah, this job.
- 13:43Speaker 1: That girl on Instagram had written out her whole story
- 13:47Speaker 1: and posted it, and I read the whole thing and
- 13:51Speaker 1: she said that she basically only got out of the
- 13:55Speaker 1: crowd because when she saw people dying, she like had
- 14:00Speaker 1: a primal reaction and like fucking clawed her way out
- 14:05Speaker 1: and climbed the stage, and that she her like biggest
- 14:10Speaker 1: regret up there was that she didn't like push the
- 14:14Speaker 1: camera or like do something more dramatic. So now this
- 14:16Speaker 1: girl has to deal with the guilt of not being
- 14:21Speaker 1: believed by someone that is not her fault for like
- 14:24Speaker 1: the rest of her life and deal with the idea
- 14:27Speaker 1: that she could have put a stop to something that
- 14:30Speaker 1: nobody cared to listen about. And it's just it was
- 14:33Speaker 1: so fucking frustrating to read. And she was just like,
- 14:37Speaker 1: what do you do in that situation? Note you're already
- 14:39Speaker 1: like so high from adrenaline, and like you made it
- 14:42Speaker 1: that far and now no one's gonna listen to you.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Uh.
- 14:45Speaker 1: It was so fucked up. And also that camera guy
- 14:50Speaker 1: so fucked. That whole crew is so fucked. Every single
- 14:54Speaker 1: person running that is so fucking fucked.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that guy especially, and he deserves it. I get
- 15:00Speaker 2: that he's a low level employee ultimately in the big
- 15:04Speaker 2: scheme of things, and I think everyone who put this
- 15:07Speaker 2: festival on has some culpability in it. But yeah, even
- 15:12Speaker 2: with him just being way down the wrongs, man, you
- 15:15Speaker 2: got to use that walkie talkie and say, hey, someone's
- 15:18Speaker 2: out here saying someone died, Like, do we want to
- 15:21Speaker 2: address this or should I just keep filming Travis Scott
- 15:24Speaker 2: up on that platform.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I've heard a lot of people say, and especially because
- 15:29Speaker 1: I guess Travis Scott had a previous documentary about the
- 15:32Speaker 1: recklessness at his shows, and I think I linked you
- 15:35Speaker 1: to a TikTok that talked a little bit about it,
- 15:37Speaker 1: that it was kind of duned from the beginning because
- 15:39Speaker 1: Travis like encourages his fans to like break down the
- 15:43Speaker 1: fences and like break into the shows even if they
- 15:45Speaker 1: don't have a ticket, and so it's pretty incriminating. I
- 15:49Speaker 1: think that I've heard a lot of people say that
- 15:52Speaker 1: the people running it, like the plan was to continue
- 15:55Speaker 1: to get footage no matter what happened, and to continue
- 15:58Speaker 1: what like filming the show show no matter what bad
- 16:01Speaker 1: things happened, and that was the precedent that Travis had set.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Is that no matter what, they were gonna still make
- 16:06Speaker 1: the video of the show, which is such a fucked
- 16:10Speaker 1: up perspective. Yeah, over people's lives.
- 16:13Speaker 2: And depending on when he told them that, especially because
- 16:17Speaker 2: there is a story out there where Houston Sheriff's Office
- 16:23Speaker 2: personnel or someone approached Track like once once I know
- 16:27Speaker 2: we're talking about a cop, my eyes kind of glaze over.
- 16:30Speaker 1: But yeah, Like in this.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Case, this guy claims he went to Travis Scott and
- 16:35Speaker 2: was like, look the way you got this organized. It's like,
- 16:39Speaker 2: if anything happens, it's gonna be fucking chaos. Anytime there's
- 16:43Speaker 2: one entrance and exit for a thing like this, that
- 16:47Speaker 2: is a recipe for disaster.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Very bad.
- 16:49Speaker 2: And it seems like that's a thing Travis Scott likes,
- 16:53Speaker 2: because you were mentioning that he sort of encourages this
- 16:57Speaker 2: chaos at his shows. There was a commercial for this
- 17:01Speaker 2: year's astro World festival on YouTube. It has since been
- 17:05Speaker 2: taken down, but part of the footage of that commercial
- 17:08Speaker 2: promoting astro World was footage of fans breaking through a
- 17:12Speaker 2: security barrier at an astro World performance in like twenty eighteen.
- 17:17Speaker 2: So it's like, come to astro World, you'll see this
- 17:20Speaker 2: kind of shit and it's like yeah, like and here's
- 17:24Speaker 2: the thing. It's there was no Astro World performance in
- 17:27Speaker 2: twenty twenty because of COVID. Yeah, so this is also
- 17:31Speaker 2: a crowd that's gonna be extra worked up, like just likee.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Very pent up, people too excited.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Yeah, people who haven't been to shit in a long time.
- 17:41Speaker 2: And you got to take extra precautions in a situation
- 17:45Speaker 2: like this, and these motherfuckers just threw caution to the
- 17:48Speaker 2: wind and it went bad, went really bad. Eight people
- 17:51Speaker 2: dead so far.
- 17:53Speaker 1: They're confirmed. Yeah, everybody on TikTok. Everybody on TikTok thinks
- 17:57Speaker 1: that there's way more than eight people who died, because
- 18:00Speaker 1: the amount of people who have posted stories on TikTok
- 18:03Speaker 1: just telling their first hand perspective of seeing somebody die
- 18:06Speaker 1: in front of them equals way more than eight. And like, granted,
- 18:10Speaker 1: there can be a lot of people in front of
- 18:12Speaker 1: you in a crowd that dense, but like, the numbers
- 18:15Speaker 1: don't add up of how many people said they saw
- 18:18Speaker 1: someone die in front of them.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if it comes out that
- 18:23Speaker 2: there were more deaths than that. I mean, especially with
- 18:25Speaker 2: three hundred people injured, right, that's a lot. And yeah,
- 18:29Speaker 2: he was arrested, I believe at Lollapalooza. I know he
- 18:33Speaker 2: was arrested after a concert at one point for insiding.
- 18:36Speaker 1: It it was either a previous Astro World festival or Lollapalooza
- 18:40Speaker 1: one of those.
- 18:41Speaker 2: At Lollapalooza in twenty fifteen, he encouraged people to break
- 18:46Speaker 2: through the security gates.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Which that's so annoying. It's already so easy to break
- 18:51Speaker 1: into Loallabalooza. You don't need to do that.
- 18:53Speaker 2: And guys, music festivals are already so much of a nightmare.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and now like people are taking so much any
- 19:00Speaker 1: precautions to keep it safe from COVID, and you're gonna
- 19:03Speaker 1: put other people in danger by not even like doing
- 19:05Speaker 1: the protocols for that either, if you're just breaking in
- 19:08Speaker 1: fuck you.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Yeah. He also got sued by a man who claims
- 19:13Speaker 2: he was pushed off a balcony at a Travis Scott
- 19:17Speaker 2: show in twenty seventeen after Travis Scott encouraged people to
- 19:21Speaker 2: jump from that balcony. Yeah, which, man, I feel legally
- 19:26Speaker 2: weird when I'm like smoke weed every day because I'm like,
- 19:29Speaker 2: what if a fucking teen smokes weed because I said
- 19:33Speaker 2: that and has a weird reaction next to me he
- 19:35Speaker 2: has at my door or something, and Travis Scott is
- 19:38Speaker 2: at his shells, being like, hey, jump from that balcony,
- 19:41Speaker 2: like you wouldn't see someone on the third story of
- 19:44Speaker 2: a building sitting on a ledge and be like jump,
- 19:47Speaker 2: you should jump?
- 19:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:47Speaker 2: No, Uh.
- 19:49Speaker 1: It's so fucking frustrating and gross, like to have that
- 19:54Speaker 1: much power and influence over people and to just put
- 19:56Speaker 1: them in danger.
- 20:00Speaker 2: It's crazy. So now let's talk about some of the
- 20:04Speaker 2: theories behind my god, what happened? Because this symbology, this
- 20:11Speaker 2: that stuff, that shit makes me mad every time and
- 20:14Speaker 2: this is no exception. Yeah, let's let's talk about the
- 20:17Speaker 2: satanic panic stuff.
- 20:19Speaker 1: First. People really want something extra to blame when bad
- 20:26Speaker 1: things happen. People really want some sort of otherworldly source
- 20:29Speaker 1: that they can't control to be at fault when it's
- 20:32Speaker 1: truly just that people are bad and.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Not just that. But anytime you go down this road,
- 20:38Speaker 2: it's ending with QAnon.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Like, yes, come on, stop feeding them new food, you
- 20:44Speaker 1: know what I mean?
- 20:46Speaker 2: Like the people who would have you believe that there
- 20:48Speaker 2: was a portal to hell at the end of the
- 20:51Speaker 2: inverted cross that served as Travis Scott stage. The people that,
- 20:55Speaker 2: oh yeah, the people that want you to believe that
- 20:58Speaker 2: would also love for you to believe that Hillary Clinton
- 21:01Speaker 2: eats children's adrenal glands. Or I know there's people in
- 21:06Speaker 2: the audience who are gonna be like, that's not how
- 21:08Speaker 2: you make a drenochrome. Shut up, weirdo. You know what
- 21:12Speaker 2: I'm getting at.
- 21:13Speaker 1: And I think we don't know how to make adrenochrome.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Come on, we are part of the liberal media elite.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Show some fucking respect.
- 21:21Speaker 1: How could you?
- 21:22Speaker 2: And yet, like musicians have been using a cult symbology
- 21:27Speaker 2: and religious imagery in their music and in their presentation,
- 21:33Speaker 2: in their stage shows, in their album art, forever and.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Ever and ever in this isn't news.
- 21:40Speaker 2: It is not like this in no way, shape or
- 21:43Speaker 2: form means Hollywood is trying to sell you pedophilia. I
- 21:48Speaker 2: don't like.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Well, so basically people are saying that I'm mainly seen
- 21:55Speaker 1: that people think the Astrolar World was an intentional Satanic sacrifice,
- 22:00Speaker 1: yes to like sacrifice children to the devil literally, which
- 22:06Speaker 1: and they think that the stage was an upside down cross,
- 22:09Speaker 1: which I will say the stage design and production was
- 22:12Speaker 1: very poor decision making. Whoever designed that, engineered that whatever,
- 22:18Speaker 1: needs to never work in like a show production ever again.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Because the way it was set up, the barricades were
- 22:28Speaker 1: from the stage where the VIP section, and then there
- 22:30Speaker 1: was another set of barricades behind the general section, and
- 22:34Speaker 1: so the only ways out were to the sides. Yes,
- 22:37Speaker 1: so there was truly nowhere to go. But people were like,
- 22:40Speaker 1: oh my god, that's an upside down cross.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yeah, the upside down cross. There's a TikTok video. It's
- 22:48Speaker 2: one of my least favorite kinds of videos on the planet.
- 22:51Speaker 2: It's just a girl. She's sitting there and she's pointing
- 22:54Speaker 2: at the sky and it says conspiracy theories about astro world.
- 23:00Speaker 2: It shows a pic there's like fucking dance music behind
- 23:03Speaker 2: it or some shit, and then it like shows a
- 23:05Speaker 2: picture of the stage and she goes, that's an inverted cross,
- 23:08Speaker 2: and then she's like, look the Devil's mouth. And then
- 23:11Speaker 2: the video's over and that shit's got like fifty five
- 23:14Speaker 2: million views and is changing hearts and minds all across
- 23:18Speaker 2: the country right now, and it's like, how about you
- 23:21Speaker 2: get in that portal to hell and go there? Like
- 23:27Speaker 2: this is like it's such a distraction from whatever actually
- 23:32Speaker 2: caused this. And here's the thing, there's a perfectly neat
- 23:35Speaker 2: conspiracy theory that seems like it might be sort of
- 23:38Speaker 2: true about what caused this, and it's way more compelling
- 23:42Speaker 2: than oh, this was a satanic ritual.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Come on, the devil doesn't need us. The devil's fucking thriving.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Look around you, and what a setting to try and
- 23:53Speaker 2: pull off some sort of experiment, Like, that's a lot
- 23:58Speaker 2: of variables you have to keep under control. There are
- 24:00Speaker 2: tens of thousands of people there.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Yeah, like, are you're going to trap them in metal gates?
- 24:06Speaker 2: Are you monitoring the experiment? Like are you taking notes?
- 24:09Speaker 2: Like what's the I hate it? But oh there was
- 24:14Speaker 2: another video where it was kind of the same thing.
- 24:17Speaker 2: A girl just sitting there looking sad, and it said
- 24:20Speaker 2: astro world conspiracies and then it just said eight flames,
- 24:25Speaker 2: eight dead people coincidence and it's like, yep, yep, I'm
- 24:30Speaker 2: pretty certain, Like why weren't they.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Each flame represents a death tonight. I'm the stage operator.
- 24:38Speaker 2: That's their souls going to hell.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I'm the pyrotechnics guy. Oh god, yeah, go ahead, sorry.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Yeah, Whenever people bring up like they call it the
- 24:48Speaker 2: Satanic Panic for a reason, the Satanic Panic, hundreds and
- 24:52Speaker 2: hundreds of people went to prison for a long long
- 24:54Speaker 2: time behind these wild ass claims that they were abusing
- 24:58Speaker 2: kids in care centers. And it was stories like oh,
- 25:03Speaker 2: our daycare teacher brought in a giraffe and slaughtered it
- 25:07Speaker 2: in front of us, And it's like, where where did
- 25:09Speaker 2: they get a giraffe? What are you talking about? Has
- 25:12Speaker 2: fucking happened? And it turned out that, yeah, none of
- 25:15Speaker 2: it fucking happened, but the giraffe. The country got whipped
- 25:22Speaker 2: into a frenzy over it, nonetheless.
- 25:24Speaker 1: And I love the mouth. I've seen so much of
- 25:27Speaker 1: the mouth. The entrance to Astro World was like a
- 25:30Speaker 1: head that is Travis Scott's like head or whatever, and
- 25:35Speaker 1: people are like on the mouth to have.
- 25:39Speaker 2: And it's like, yeah, the real Astro World has a
- 25:42Speaker 2: mouth for an entrance. All yeah.
- 25:44Speaker 1: The theme park, it's just a fucking thing on the
- 25:47Speaker 1: theme park. It's a it's a cosplay of the theme park.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Now Here's how you could have sold me on it
- 25:53Speaker 2: being a mouthway to hell is if the face on
- 25:57Speaker 2: the theme park had always been Travis Scott. And then
- 26:02Speaker 2: one day he just arrives.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, my destiny overlord of Astro World.
- 26:11Speaker 2: But no, that's not what happened. It's like a fucking
- 26:13Speaker 2: clown or something. Which is scarier it is.
- 26:16Speaker 1: The theme park even like still a thing? Is it
- 26:19Speaker 1: still in operation? Like can we go?
- 26:23Speaker 2: I sure, hope?
- 26:25Speaker 1: So I want to go because I bet you and
- 26:28Speaker 1: no one's going right now.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Oh no, it closed in two thousand and five.
- 26:35Speaker 1: If it's not a corporate six Flags, we don't want it,
- 26:38Speaker 1: said America.
- 26:39Speaker 2: It was a corporate six Flags really astro World at
- 26:44Speaker 2: the time it shut down.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Oh so six Flags couldn't have even saved it.
- 26:49Speaker 2: I wonder if it was a Hurricane Katrina thing how much,
- 26:54Speaker 2: because there's a documentary about a six Flags I think
- 26:59Speaker 2: that was in New Orleans, and six Flags was all
- 27:03Speaker 2: gung ho about how they were gonna build it back
- 27:05Speaker 2: up and they were going to bring jobs back to
- 27:07Speaker 2: the community, and they were gonna make New Orleans a
- 27:10Speaker 2: family tourism destination, which seems like a terrible fucking idea.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Yeah no, but then Hurricane Katrina happens while they're rebuilding
- 27:18Speaker 2: this theme park, and six Flags was like, never mind.
- 27:24Speaker 1: That's what we're cutting our losses.
- 27:26Speaker 2: That's gonna be a little bit too much work.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Sorry, and uh oh six Flags.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Yeah, with us being two thousand and five, that wouldn't
- 27:33Speaker 2: surprise me, and with it being in Houston, but I
- 27:37Speaker 2: don't know, so.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe it's in Texas.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I don't know. But we can't go to Astro World,
- 27:42Speaker 2: damn the theme park. And it seems like we cannot
- 27:46Speaker 2: go to the festival anymore. Although it would be an
- 27:50Speaker 2: act of such brazenness if he was like, fuck, yeah,
- 27:54Speaker 2: we're doing Astro World again in twenty twenty two. You
- 27:56Speaker 2: kidding me? Same lot and everything.
- 28:00Speaker 1: How long did it take you to think about what
- 28:03Speaker 1: the Kardashian response was gonna be? Because I was like, okay, so,
- 28:08Speaker 1: how is Chris gonna spin this baby?
- 28:12Speaker 2: Did she respond?
- 28:15Speaker 1: No? But I saw somebody predict the like Kardashian Jenner
- 28:19Speaker 1: response plan of what they're gonna do, like and they
- 28:23Speaker 1: wrote it out and I screenshot at it because I
- 28:25Speaker 1: think it's so funny. Do you want me to read
- 28:26Speaker 1: it to you?
- 28:27Speaker 2: Yes? Please?
- 28:28Speaker 1: Okay, hold on? And this is I don't even know
- 28:31Speaker 1: who this was. It's just some random person for me
- 28:33Speaker 1: being hyper fixated on this, and I was like, all right, oh,
- 28:37Speaker 1: there's so many memes about this too. Let's see here
- 28:40Speaker 1: it is Ashrawbold Crisis Communication Plan. Stage one, Kylie and
- 28:44Speaker 1: Kendall issued joint message of condolence. Stage two team to
- 28:47Speaker 1: feed stories to friendly magazines about how they're helping victims
- 28:51Speaker 1: with cash and finances. Stage three visit scene to layflowers
- 28:54Speaker 1: and post sad pictures cameras rolling Stage four u s
- 28:57Speaker 1: foot it from above for seeing a new reality TV
- 28:59Speaker 1: show that's gonna be on Hulu. So we'll see how
- 29:03Speaker 1: quickly that all happens. But I think it's a pretty
- 29:05Speaker 1: good guess.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Yeah, which one is Travis Scott Kylie? Kylie? Yeah, she
- 29:12Speaker 2: already issued some kind of statement on Instagram, and because.
- 29:17Speaker 1: She like posted stories during it happening with the ambulance
- 29:20Speaker 1: in the middle of the fucking thing.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Yeah. She also had some pictures that she took before
- 29:26Speaker 2: the festival that showed basically where everyone died, and she
- 29:30Speaker 2: was just like they were just like selfies and people
- 29:33Speaker 2: were like, do you want to take those down now?
- 29:34Speaker 2: Like this it's kind of a crime scene behind you
- 29:37Speaker 2: at this point. Bikes, But yeah, I don't know what
- 29:40Speaker 2: we're expecting the fucking Kardashians to do uh.
- 29:43Speaker 1: I mean, they're gonna just make it about them, which
- 29:46Speaker 1: is fucking crazy but expected.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's it's it's wild. And the wildest thing
- 29:53Speaker 2: to me is this theory that will not go away,
- 29:57Speaker 2: which is that someone in the crowd wigged out and
- 30:00Speaker 2: started injecting people with drugs. Oh yeah, Like TMZ is
- 30:05Speaker 2: the outlet that reported it first. And here's the thing.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I get that TMZ aren't great people, but they're really
- 30:11Speaker 2: good at their job, and they generally when they report something,
- 30:16Speaker 2: it's because they've heard it from a pretty credible source. Yeah,
- 30:20Speaker 2: And they right away were like, we're getting reports that
- 30:24Speaker 2: someone was fucking stabbing people with needles in the audience, Yeah,
- 30:28Speaker 2: which that would explain that sudden crowd surge, that's for sure.
- 30:31Speaker 1: And also I have been hearing a lot lately that
- 30:35Speaker 1: people are getting like roofy type injections at bars lately,
- 30:41Speaker 1: like that people are just out here stabbing each other
- 30:43Speaker 1: with needles.
- 30:44Speaker 2: That's crazy. But yeah, I mean, there have been lots
- 30:48Speaker 2: of videos of dudes at concerts and festivals like caught
- 30:53Speaker 2: on camera, just like dropping drugs in a woman's drink.
- 30:56Speaker 2: In the audience. Yeah, So like, I guess if you
- 30:59Speaker 2: could progress to doing it with needles. I don't know
- 31:02Speaker 2: how it's easier, but it could also just be like
- 31:06Speaker 2: if you wanted a fun way to be a mass murderer.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Maybe, ah, I guess Jesus.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Because what's weird about this one? They haven't backed down
- 31:16Speaker 2: from that reporting, Like they tweeted it separately from the
- 31:20Speaker 2: rest of their reporting on it. And then a security
- 31:23Speaker 2: guard came forward and was like, Yeah, I got fucking
- 31:26Speaker 2: someone stuck me in the neck with a needle and
- 31:28Speaker 2: I passed out.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Oh my god, I didn't hear that.
- 31:31Speaker 2: And we'll link to all of this in the notes.
- 31:34Speaker 2: I'm not making it up. And he had to be
- 31:37Speaker 2: revived with narcan, which is what they use to revive
- 31:41Speaker 2: people who've had opioid overdoses. And what's weird about the
- 31:46Speaker 2: deaths in this case? This sort of thing isn't unusual,
- 31:50Speaker 2: like people, there's mass deaths at concerts, not all the time,
- 31:54Speaker 2: but it happens a lot. There was one that happened
- 31:57Speaker 2: at a Pearl Jam show and I think two thousand
- 32:00Speaker 2: that it was just the way the crowd was situated
- 32:04Speaker 2: at one point. All the people in the back just
- 32:06Speaker 2: started moving forward and it like crushed a bunch of
- 32:10Speaker 2: people in the front. But that's the thing. That's how
- 32:13Speaker 2: people usually die is crushing or yeah, asphyxiation or suffocation.
- 32:19Speaker 2: These people all had cardiac arrest, which oh.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Right, yeah, that's weird, Like that is weird.
- 32:27Speaker 2: I'm sure suspicious. Yeah, I'm sure these circumstances could give
- 32:32Speaker 2: a person cardiac arrest. But also you think you'd see
- 32:36Speaker 2: some variety there too, that they'd be like, oh, well,
- 32:39Speaker 2: this person was in cardiac arrest, but this price she
- 32:41Speaker 2: just couldn't fucking breathe because they got crushed. So I
- 32:44Speaker 2: don't know that that person stabbing people with drug needles
- 32:48Speaker 2: seems kind of compelling.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't disagree now that I know that they
- 32:53Speaker 1: all died of cardiac arrest, because I mean it's likely
- 32:57Speaker 1: that like some of them would, but like you said, yeah,
- 33:00Speaker 1: more likely from asphyxiation in theory. But hmm, I guess
- 33:05Speaker 1: maybe if you're panicking though, and everyone was saying with
- 33:09Speaker 1: like the music, how low frequency it was, that everyone
- 33:12Speaker 1: kind of felt like their heart was like, oh, you
- 33:14Speaker 1: know when you just hear really loud bass and it
- 33:16Speaker 1: like hurts your chest kind of yeah.
- 33:18Speaker 2: And not to I mean, not to state the obvious,
- 33:20Speaker 2: but they were also at a music festival, so yeah,
- 33:24Speaker 2: it doesn't take an assassin wielding a needle for eight
- 33:29Speaker 2: people to all be under the influence of opiates at
- 33:31Speaker 2: the same time. Also, Travis Scott concert, like, there could
- 33:36Speaker 2: have been someone selling pills in the crowd and those
- 33:40Speaker 2: pills might have had fentanyl in them, Like that's happened,
- 33:44Speaker 2: super likely. That happened at the first Woodstock there was
- 33:48Speaker 2: acid that got sold that was tainted, or at least
- 33:51Speaker 2: there was like a message that went out about it.
- 33:53Speaker 2: I don't know if it was actually a thing that
- 33:54Speaker 2: was happening, but yeah, I mean, drugs could have played
- 33:58Speaker 2: a big part in this. It's just if it was
- 34:02Speaker 2: it now, I guess it wouldn't be weird for people
- 34:05Speaker 2: to have cardiac arrest all at once if there was
- 34:07Speaker 2: also a big push.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it would. You would panic and you could
- 34:12Speaker 1: very easily, I feel like, send yourself into a heart
- 34:14Speaker 1: attack from that. Yeah, I hate it. I hate thinking
- 34:16Speaker 1: about it. I don't know why. I'm like so addicted
- 34:19Speaker 1: to all the information on this too, and like the
- 34:21Speaker 1: actual thought of dying that way is horrific to me. Also,
- 34:25Speaker 1: I don't know if I've told this story on the
- 34:26Speaker 1: podcast before, but I got like tricked into going to
- 34:29Speaker 1: an OAR concert once that turned into a riot, and
- 34:32Speaker 1: so like, yeah, it was fucking weird. I got pepper
- 34:34Speaker 1: sprayed because this girl was spinning with mace. But like,
- 34:37Speaker 1: imagine not even liking Travis Scott that much and then like.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Dying that would be the thing.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Yeah, like holy shit, imagine if you're like friends made
- 34:48Speaker 1: you go.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Yeah, because I'm a very reluctant music festival goer. I've
- 34:53Speaker 2: been to like three in my life. I just gent
- 34:57Speaker 2: don't like them. And yeah, if I had been at
- 34:59Speaker 2: astro World, it would have been because someone made me
- 35:02Speaker 2: an offer I couldn't refuse, like I might have sought
- 35:05Speaker 2: it out. And yeah, dying that way brutal.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Oh terrible, but like it. Uh. Also, I don't understand
- 35:13Speaker 1: why a riot broke out at OAR. It's like such
- 35:15Speaker 1: a joke. Whoever wrote that scene in my life?
- 35:18Speaker 2: What the fuck that does? That does seem like an
- 35:21Speaker 2: unlikely fit. It was bizarre a riot, Yeah, I don't know.
- 35:26Speaker 2: There is There is one last controversy we should talk about.
- 35:31Speaker 2: This is an especially fun one because I don't know
- 35:34Speaker 2: if you heard the ads that played in between the
- 35:38Speaker 2: segments of this pod, but this podcast is brought to
- 35:41Speaker 2: you in part by Better Help, Better Help. If you're sad,
- 35:46Speaker 2: do what it says in the ad, Hey hy poetry. Also,
- 35:52Speaker 2: they have seemingly partnered up with Travis Scott to help
- 35:55Speaker 2: the victims of the Astra World tragedy, which I'm so
- 35:59Speaker 2: on offense about. This.
- 36:01Speaker 1: On paper, seems like a nice gesture.
- 36:04Speaker 2: But he's also such a corporate sponsorship guy. Wasn't he
- 36:08Speaker 2: the first one to have a meal named after him
- 36:11Speaker 2: at a fast food place?
- 36:12Speaker 1: I think probably.
- 36:13Speaker 2: I think the Travis Scott meal was first, and I
- 36:16Speaker 2: think it really called the Cactus Jack meal. Well, I
- 36:20Speaker 2: think is one of his nicknames.
- 36:22Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Okay, weird producers fact check that for us before we So.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I bet you he gave himself that nickname, and you
- 36:33Speaker 1: just should not give yourself nicknames.
- 36:35Speaker 2: No, definitely not. Yeah, no, Like who would have given
- 36:39Speaker 2: him the names, right?
- 36:41Speaker 1: No one?
- 36:42Speaker 2: Was he doing fucking peote in the seventies with Jim Morrison.
- 36:48Speaker 1: So yeah, it's pretty likely that Travis is getting kickback
- 36:52Speaker 1: for every person that signs up with this Better Help
- 36:54Speaker 1: promotion for the people who suffer trauma at astral world?
- 36:57Speaker 2: Do you think so? Because he's also paying for it,
- 37:01Speaker 2: like Better Helps, I don't think it's free.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Right, but like, I don't know, I've heard that they
- 37:09Speaker 1: do pay like huge people per sign up. It sounds like.
- 37:13Speaker 2: No, I have no doubt about that. I just don't know.
- 37:17Speaker 2: I mean it's possible.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Also, like Betterhelp has been kind of in trouble for
- 37:22Speaker 1: data mining it seems like from people's mental health stuff.
- 37:26Speaker 1: So I don't know, but it does seem like just
- 37:29Speaker 1: a really nice, convenient way to get therapy.
- 37:32Speaker 2: So yeah, that's the thing. One of the stories I
- 37:35Speaker 2: read the article brought up that once it was confirmed
- 37:40Speaker 2: that Travis Scott had partnered up with them on this,
- 37:43Speaker 2: she showed this crew. It was indeed a crazy ass
- 37:46Speaker 2: screenshot where she texted her Better Help therapist and was like, Hey,
- 37:51Speaker 2: I'm having some suicidal thoughts. The therapist wrote.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Back, oh oh my god.
- 37:58Speaker 2: But also Better Help jumped in and was like, holy shit,
- 38:02Speaker 2: we are going to reach out to that person. That's
- 38:05Speaker 2: pretty crazy. And then another person tweeted like to each
- 38:08Speaker 2: their own, but the therapist I found there was the
- 38:11Speaker 2: best therapists I've had. So it's like I don't know.
- 38:14Speaker 1: And that's like with therapy in general, like not everyone's
- 38:17Speaker 1: going to be a good fit for everyone. Like that's
- 38:19Speaker 1: just like not how it works. Yeah, so I've been
- 38:22Speaker 1: through so many therapists.
- 38:25Speaker 2: It it just seems weird to like there's almost no
- 38:29Speaker 2: way to not frame it as another Travis Scott corporate partnership.
- 38:33Speaker 2: But I also don't know what else he was supposed
- 38:36Speaker 2: to do, like if he wanted. I honestly, I think
- 38:40Speaker 2: we said this before we started recording. The best thing
- 38:43Speaker 2: might have been to just not like offer this because yes,
- 38:47Speaker 2: for one thing, it's one free month.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Which is it should be a year, it should.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Be until you sort that shit out.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Yeah, it should be forever. And he's like so rich.
- 39:00Speaker 2: So that makes it feel a little hollow. And I
- 39:04Speaker 2: don't know.
- 39:05Speaker 1: So he needs to give money to these families. He
- 39:08Speaker 1: needs to have immediately been like whatever you need, you know.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a thing. I'm sure he's going to let
- 39:15Speaker 2: that play out in the court lawsuits.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not going to just be generous as a
- 39:20Speaker 1: really wealthy person, what like, no fucking why you're so
- 39:24Speaker 1: wealthy dude.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, I'm sure they'll offer settlements up. Yeah, Roan,
- 39:29Speaker 2: I just don't know how good they'll be. I don't know, Like, yeah,
- 39:32Speaker 2: it's really a it's a no win.
- 39:34Speaker 1: He could have very easily come forward with I'm so sorry.
- 39:38Speaker 1: I fully intend to compensate these families and losses, like
- 39:42Speaker 1: point blank. And he did not, in any way, shape
- 39:45Speaker 1: or form say that.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Well he did. He made a statement. He said he's
- 39:48Speaker 2: going to pay for all the funeral expenses and things,
- 39:51Speaker 2: and I mean, he's got to just expect that he's
- 39:54Speaker 2: going to get like he's already been sued a bunch.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I guess I didn't listen to that whole thing because
- 40:00Speaker 1: as it felt so insincere from the beginning. I was like,
- 40:02Speaker 1: after I said he didn't do that in any way,
- 40:04Speaker 1: shape or form, I was like, wait, you didn't actually
- 40:05Speaker 1: listen to his whole apology because it was like so
- 40:08Speaker 1: fucking bad.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Oh. I just read about it in an article.
- 40:13Speaker 1: I tried to watch it, and it's just like him
- 40:15Speaker 1: rubbing his head the whole time.
- 40:17Speaker 2: It's so weird, Jesus.
- 40:21Speaker 1: It was so strange though, and like in black and.
- 40:24Speaker 2: White, Oh, don't do that it was like you filtered this,
- 40:29Speaker 2: Hell yeah, tone do that.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I
- 40:34Speaker 1: don't know, I don't know. I know it's bad times,
- 40:37Speaker 1: bad times.
- 40:38Speaker 2: It's ugh, what a weird what a weird twist in
- 40:43Speaker 2: this story that better helped thing? Like it's I know,
- 40:47Speaker 2: it's it's hard to be completely mad at it, but
- 40:50Speaker 2: it's also just like don't, don't that's not it's.
- 40:53Speaker 1: So encompassing of just like the problems right now that
- 40:57Speaker 1: we face where it's just like even if somebody on
- 41:00Speaker 1: paper looks like they are doing something good, you don't
- 41:03Speaker 1: really know. It's so hard to trust anything. There's been
- 41:07Speaker 1: so many moments where I was like, oh, hell yeah
- 41:09Speaker 1: this and then in like twenty four hours it's like, nope,
- 41:12Speaker 1: fuck that that was not what was the right thing?
- 41:15Speaker 2: I guess nope, Yeah, who knows?
- 41:19Speaker 1: Who knows this?
- 41:20Speaker 2: I know that fucking tragedy. It's sad, especially like I know,
- 41:25Speaker 2: the youngest person who have died is fourteen, but there's
- 41:29Speaker 2: like nine and ten year olds who are in medically.
- 41:33Speaker 1: So this nine year old is doing really poorly.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Yeah, there's all these stories of people bringing their kids
- 41:39Speaker 2: to this which I mean, I'm not gonna victim blame,
- 41:42Speaker 2: and I understand wanting to Like nine isn't an unreasonable
- 41:47Speaker 2: age to take a kid to a concert, but it's
- 41:50Speaker 2: kind of an unreasonable age to take a kid to
- 41:53Speaker 2: the front row of a standing room only music festival
- 41:57Speaker 2: in a parking lot. Yeah.
- 41:59Speaker 1: I don't know about all that.
- 42:00Speaker 2: And that is one of the stories that's out there.
- 42:03Speaker 2: And that guy like he survived, like he got it
- 42:05Speaker 2: because he started feeling weird and got his kid out
- 42:08Speaker 2: of there. And it's like, yeah, of course you were
- 42:10Speaker 2: feeling weird, Like you're in one of the least safe
- 42:12Speaker 2: spots in any concert.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Yeah, so scary, Like if there's.
- 42:17Speaker 2: No seats, you don't want to be that close to
- 42:19Speaker 2: the stage, Like it's no chaos.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Especially with a kid. Dude, like that kid is getting
- 42:25Speaker 1: separated from you.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Yeah, if there's seats, that's a totally different thing. Yeah,
- 42:28Speaker 2: because then you can just get in and out really
- 42:30Speaker 2: easy and it's fine. But woof, yeah, this is this
- 42:33Speaker 2: is tough. It's uh, this is quite the tragedy. It's
- 42:37Speaker 2: a thing that happens a lot. And that's why the
- 42:39Speaker 2: satanic panic thing bothers me so much. Like, don't let
- 42:43Speaker 2: the people responsible for this get off that.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Way with Yeah, no it wasn't Satan.
- 42:49Speaker 2: Fucking conservatives blaming Hollywood liberals and Satan on this like
- 42:54Speaker 2: this was another in a long line of examples of
- 42:58Speaker 2: terrible planning behind large events where people sometimes die.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Also, being a diehard fan is canceled.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean except this podcast and.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Obviously, oh yeah, I mean please die for us.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Yes absolutely. If you think that's not what this is
- 43:16Speaker 2: building up to.
- 43:19Speaker 1: I think again, JK live forever.
- 43:23Speaker 2: But yeah it, Uh, I guess that's our episode.
- 43:26Speaker 1: There's not it's not there's no good side to this.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Yeah, there's not really a lot of good to say.
- 43:33Speaker 2: I hope there aren't a lot more deaths. I hope
- 43:36Speaker 2: we do find out, like if there if there was
- 43:39Speaker 2: someone injecting people with drugs, I hope we find that out.
- 43:42Speaker 2: I hope we find out what they're going to wonder
- 43:44Speaker 2: motive was. I want to know how that worked like that.
- 43:49Speaker 1: It's just seems so much work. Yeah, to be that evil,
- 43:53Speaker 1: that's like some joker level shit.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it really is. That's why it like, if
- 43:58Speaker 2: that's a thing that happened that because I've seen the thing.
- 44:02Speaker 1: That's happening catch me nowhere ever again.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Yeah, because I've seen like right wing types who are
- 44:08Speaker 2: all wrapped up in the anti vax stuff being like,
- 44:13Speaker 2: oh yeah, they're stabbing people with experimental drugs, and it's
- 44:16Speaker 2: like you're gonna conduct the field experiment in those settings,
- 44:19Speaker 2: Like you're not going to be able to keep track
- 44:21Speaker 2: of people and monitor all the things you need to
- 44:23Speaker 2: monitor for an actual experiment. Like if that was happening,
- 44:27Speaker 2: it was probably the drugs equivalent of a mass shooter.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Like if you want, if you I bet it was
- 44:33Speaker 2: way easier to get opiates into that Travis Scott show
- 44:37Speaker 2: than it was to get a gun into that Travis
- 44:39Speaker 2: Scott show.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah, unless you just bust it down the fence,
- 44:43Speaker 1: which who knows.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Yeah, in that case, you get or you just shoot
- 44:47Speaker 2: a security guard and go past him. Travis Scott.
- 44:51Speaker 1: When the documentaries are rolling out.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Yeah, there will be some. I just want to I
- 44:55Speaker 2: want to know who's going to produce them. But we
- 44:57Speaker 2: think better fucking not be Cactus Jack production.
- 45:00Speaker 1: We think a weeker a month and Hulu or Netflix
- 45:03Speaker 1: we're taking bets.
- 45:04Speaker 2: M I hope it's like Firefest and they just drop
- 45:07Speaker 2: them at the same.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Time, both of them, both of them same night. But
- 45:10Speaker 1: who the production race.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Hulu has that New York Times documentary series where a
- 45:16Speaker 2: lot of this shit ends up. But I think Netflix
- 45:19Speaker 2: still beat them on the Britney Spears conservatorship thing.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Yeah. I didn't watch the Hulu one, so I think
- 45:25Speaker 1: they did beat them.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think I did either.
- 45:27Speaker 1: They won that one. Let's find out what tragedy will
- 45:30Speaker 1: win in the production companies this round, guys.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Yeah, this is this is gonna be bigger than Woodstock
- 45:38Speaker 2: ninety nine in terms of notorious concert disasters.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, because so much footage of it too.
- 45:47Speaker 2: That's the thing. It's so similar, but also there's so
- 45:51Speaker 2: much more footage and just it seems like it was
- 45:54Speaker 2: so much more preventable. I think. Yeah.
- 45:57Speaker 1: I mean, there's just been so many festivals that people
- 46:00Speaker 1: haven't died at since then, you know, Yeah, so many
- 46:03Speaker 1: they had. There's been time to practice as fuck.
- 46:06Speaker 2: And there's lots of video of entertainers out there. There's
- 46:10Speaker 2: a video of Asap Rocky, for example, during one of
- 46:13Speaker 2: his shows, he just stops and it is like, people
- 46:16Speaker 2: are hurt. We got a fucking there's stopping less.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Footage of people from stage stopping an audience, Like just
- 46:23Speaker 1: like endless entertainers who've stopped audiences because they see like
- 46:26Speaker 1: one person go down or whatever.
- 46:28Speaker 2: And that's the thing. Travis Scott is the only one
- 46:30Speaker 2: who could have done that. Like it's it's easy to say, well,
- 46:33Speaker 2: the police are the police. They could have just kicked
- 46:36Speaker 2: him off the stage and grabbed the microphone and so
- 46:38Speaker 2: this show is over. That would have been fucking Houston.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Would have been burned to the ground.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Oh that completely.
- 46:45Speaker 2: That would have been an insane right, Like that happened
- 46:49Speaker 2: when Metallica and Guns n' Roses did a show in
- 46:53Speaker 2: fucking Montreal. I think they Axel Rose ended up canceling
- 46:57Speaker 2: Guns and Roses set like two hour hours after they
- 47:00Speaker 2: were supposed to go on and just like made people
- 47:03Speaker 2: wait forever and then was like, nope, we're not coming out,
- 47:05Speaker 2: and there was a fucking riot over it. Yeah, And
- 47:08Speaker 2: that was without the CIA stabbing people with Adrina Chrome
- 47:12Speaker 2: in the audience or whatever the fuck was happening.
- 47:15Speaker 1: Probably like fucking the FBI just out here stabbing people.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Well, it's it's easy to joke and say, I bet
- 47:24Speaker 2: the FBI was in the crowd. It's a Travis Scott concert.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Of course, the FBI was in the crowd. That could
- 47:30Speaker 2: be That could be a local rapper playing to eighty
- 47:33Speaker 2: two people at a nearby dive bar, and the FBI
- 47:36Speaker 2: would be in the crowd because they monitor black people,
- 47:40Speaker 2: because they're the FBI. So yeah, of course the FBI
- 47:44Speaker 2: was there. But you just expect that.
- 47:49Speaker 1: I don't know who was doing the stabbings. We won't
- 47:51Speaker 1: know which part of the government just for years.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Just imagine the FBI seeing those stabbings happening and being like, fuck,
- 48:01Speaker 2: you can't really tell people we're FBI, So I guess
- 48:07Speaker 2: we're just gonna have to let this happen. Oh my god,
- 48:10Speaker 2: it'll be in the Freedom of Information Act request fifty
- 48:12Speaker 2: years from now.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Jesus Fuck.
- 48:14Speaker 2: All right.
- 48:15Speaker 1: So yeah, so.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Don't go to music festivals is what I think we're
- 48:19Speaker 2: getting at.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Honestly, skip it. We're good on that for a minute.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Yeah, there were we should.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Have been good on it for a minute, to be
- 48:29Speaker 1: completely honest with previous circumstances.
- 48:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it's this is definitely not the first music festival tragedy.
- 48:38Speaker 1: I mean, we are not not in the pandemic.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Yeah, there's that too.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Like that's mushedness of people. That is so many people.
- 48:47Speaker 1: I don't care that it was outside. You are breathing
- 48:50Speaker 1: other people's exhales in.
- 48:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's not like because I expected like football
- 48:56Speaker 2: games to be big COVID super spreaders. But when you
- 48:59Speaker 2: think about that, like everyone's kind of directing their their
- 49:03Speaker 2: their breath into the ether a little bit. Yes, you
- 49:09Speaker 2: and yeah, not the same thing, not that in this
- 49:12Speaker 2: kind of crowd. Yeah, I didn't fuck with a music
- 49:16Speaker 2: festival like this before COVID. I'm definitely not going to now.
- 49:19Speaker 1: I'm good on all that.
- 49:21Speaker 2: But uh, I think that's our episode. We did it.
- 49:24Speaker 2: Once again, thank you for doing this on such short notice.
