- 0:06Speaker 1: World Series champion Dodgers outfielder Alex Call joining us right
- 0:11Speaker 1: now on FT.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Alex, great to have.
- 0:13Speaker 3: You on the show.
- 0:13Speaker 2: We appreciate the time. Great shirt. How's life in the
- 0:16Speaker 2: off season and being a champ?
- 0:19Speaker 4: Thanks for having me on. Guys. It's uh, it's been
- 0:21Speaker 4: a blast, just kind of soaking it up.
- 0:23Speaker 5: We're getting, uh, you know, ready to rock and roll
- 0:26Speaker 5: here pretty soon, you know, but yeah, I've just been
- 0:30Speaker 5: trying to soak all soak it all in, enjoy every moment,
- 0:34Speaker 5: you know, still kind of pinching myself. It's been a
- 0:37Speaker 5: it's been an amazing year and couldn't be happier to
- 0:41Speaker 5: be where I'm at and with this organ Uh, just
- 0:44Speaker 5: a great group of guys too.
- 0:46Speaker 6: What is an off season for a guy who got
- 0:49Speaker 6: traded over there and isn't the like, isn't one of
- 0:54Speaker 6: the superstars? Nobody says, wow, look at this lineup, you know,
- 0:56Speaker 6: Freddie MOOKI, Alex Call show, Hey, what is the what
- 1:01Speaker 6: is the off season for you as a World Series champion?
- 1:05Speaker 3: Like?
- 1:06Speaker 6: Are you called to do signings and go to dinners
- 1:10Speaker 6: and they're like, oh, we got Alex Call And You're like, well,
- 1:13Speaker 6: it's because you couldn't get Freddy Freeman. That's why you
- 1:15Speaker 6: got Alex called. Nothing against Alex call, but just some
- 1:19Speaker 6: people don't some people never get the feeling or understanding
- 1:23Speaker 6: that there's twenty six dudes on this roster and not
- 1:27Speaker 6: every one of them is the marquee name guy.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I've had different signing events.
- 1:35Speaker 5: I'm working out a deal with a Chevy local Chevy
- 1:39Speaker 5: dealer in LA.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Shout out Felix Chevrolet.
- 1:44Speaker 5: But yeah, there's a lot of you know, there's a
- 1:47Speaker 5: lot of things that come with it, and yeah, it
- 1:49Speaker 5: takes a full team to make it happen. But certainly,
- 1:53Speaker 5: you know, grateful to just have a place in the lineup.
- 1:56Speaker 5: You know, whenever my name gets called with Freddy and
- 1:59Speaker 5: Mookie and Show Hey, and you know, the list goes
- 2:02Speaker 5: on and on.
- 2:03Speaker 4: It's it's pretty cool.
- 2:04Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:04Speaker 5: When I started Game four the World Series, it's like
- 2:07Speaker 5: I need that lineup card because I my name is
- 2:10Speaker 5: in it in the World Series next to all these guys.
- 2:13Speaker 5: It's something that's like how many people get to actually
- 2:16Speaker 5: say that, you know, how many people actually get to
- 2:18Speaker 5: do that and experience that, and you know, praise God
- 2:21Speaker 5: that I'm one of them.
- 2:23Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, not many people get to experience it.
- 2:25Speaker 6: But also not many people get to put together pro
- 2:29Speaker 6: big league at bats because when I always talk about
- 2:32Speaker 6: it as a catcher, when you're preparing in the playoffs
- 2:35Speaker 6: for a lineup, people don't add don't put as much
- 2:40Speaker 6: time into preparing for Alex call and you're at bats
- 2:43Speaker 6: the amount of pitches per at bat? Did you say
- 2:47Speaker 6: when you went in, I just got to be me.
- 2:50Speaker 6: I'm just because that's the kind of at bats that
- 2:51Speaker 6: I saw when you when you played for the Nats.
- 2:54Speaker 6: The at bat you just never you had a like
- 2:55Speaker 6: kind of relentless at bats for a team who wasn't
- 2:58Speaker 6: winning games. Is it easy for you to be you
- 3:02Speaker 6: on a team that was trying to win all their games?
- 3:05Speaker 6: Because it really to me, it really showed that you
- 3:08Speaker 6: have an understanding of the strike zone all the way
- 3:10Speaker 6: back to the Phillies, the Phillies at that bats you
- 3:13Speaker 6: had against the Phillies and then going into the World
- 3:15Speaker 6: Series too, adding that value. Was that just you being you?
- 3:19Speaker 3: Or you were you?
- 3:19Speaker 6: Like, okay, I got to be somebody different now than
- 3:22Speaker 6: with the Dodgers.
- 3:24Speaker 5: Yeah, no, that I was. The message was really clear
- 3:27Speaker 5: once I got here. It's like, hey, we got you
- 3:29Speaker 5: because we like what you do and so keep doing you.
- 3:33Speaker 5: And that really just took the pressure off of me, because,
- 3:36Speaker 5: you know, when your name gets called and they're like,
- 3:37Speaker 5: you're going to the Dodgers, I'm like, the Dodgers are
- 3:39Speaker 5: the best team in baseball, they're the prohibited World Series favorites,
- 3:44Speaker 5: and at the deadline they want Alex Call on their team.
- 3:48Speaker 4: And I felt really validated by that.
- 3:50Speaker 5: You know, I've you know, I've been grinding through my
- 3:53Speaker 5: career and just trying to establish myself as a major
- 3:56Speaker 5: league baseball player and you know, to have some success
- 4:00Speaker 5: and kind of keep rolling the years together and then
- 4:02Speaker 5: to get traded for by an organization like the Dodgers,
- 4:05Speaker 5: with the pedigree that they have and the championship team
- 4:07Speaker 5: that they already had, it was really cool. And so
- 4:10Speaker 5: for them to say, hey, we love what you do
- 4:12Speaker 5: and we want you to keep doing it. Don't try
- 4:15Speaker 5: to be anybody else. That's exactly what I set out
- 4:18Speaker 5: to do and was able to, you know, take some
- 4:20Speaker 5: good at bats when it counted and you know, contribute
- 4:23Speaker 5: to our team, and that was it was really cool.
- 4:26Speaker 5: But yeah, for me, it's just about Hey, how is
- 4:30Speaker 5: at the most basic element baseball is about getting on base,
- 4:34Speaker 5: So get to first base somehow, and then how do
- 4:37Speaker 5: you do that? For me, It's like, okay, I need
- 4:39Speaker 5: to swing at strikes, which is again very elementary. But
- 4:44Speaker 5: if you swing at strikes, and not only strikes, but
- 4:46Speaker 5: your strikes the balls within the zone that you like
- 4:49Speaker 5: the best, not the ones on the corner or the
- 4:51Speaker 5: ones maybe not in your hot zone. So be really
- 4:55Speaker 5: picky about those pitches. And then if you don't get
- 4:59Speaker 5: one and you get to two strikes, well now it's like, Okay,
- 5:01Speaker 5: I got to cover the whole zone. I'm not going
- 5:02Speaker 5: to expand, and I'm absolutely battle to make this guy work.
- 5:06Speaker 5: So hopefully, yeah, when when the lineup turns over and
- 5:09Speaker 5: we get back to the top, it's like he's maybe
- 5:11Speaker 5: feeling a little bit extra tired, and I hopefully was
- 5:14Speaker 5: a part of that reason, you know, to make him
- 5:17Speaker 5: work a little bit harder. And you know, it's it's
- 5:20Speaker 5: kind of a fun role. It's kind of a it's
- 5:22Speaker 5: kind of a niche that I've carved out, I feel like,
- 5:25Speaker 5: and just have really found that, Oh yeah, teams actually
- 5:29Speaker 5: do value that. There is there's a lot more than
- 5:31Speaker 5: baseball than just hitting home runs and just you know,
- 5:34Speaker 5: doing all this extra stuff and feel really comfortable in
- 5:38Speaker 5: that role.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Dude, you hit that perfectly.
- 5:41Speaker 7: I was going to ask you some differences from Nationals
- 5:43Speaker 7: to Dodgers.
- 5:44Speaker 3: You can hit on that a little bit. I think
- 5:45Speaker 3: you kind of hit on most of it.
- 5:47Speaker 7: But also after that, if you got anything else you
- 5:50Speaker 7: want to say about that, tell me a little about
- 5:52Speaker 7: your offseason. Right now, it looks like you're in rare form.
- 5:54Speaker 7: You just probably got done working out. Is there anything
- 5:56Speaker 7: specific that you're working on, something that you may be
- 6:00Speaker 7: struggled with that you're trying to do better at, or
- 6:02Speaker 7: something that you do great at you're trying to do
- 6:04Speaker 7: even better than great at.
- 6:06Speaker 5: Especially Yeah, Now, for me, it's always working on well, one,
- 6:12Speaker 5: getting healthy. You know, at the end of the year,
- 6:14Speaker 5: your body's feeling a little bit. And that was the
- 6:15Speaker 5: longest season I've ever played, so I had some nicks
- 6:19Speaker 5: and knacks that were getting rehabilitated and feel really great.
- 6:23Speaker 5: But then on top of that, it's just making sure
- 6:25Speaker 5: you get bigger, faster, stronger, and then with more specifically
- 6:28Speaker 5: with my swing, with my approach. I think you know,
- 6:32Speaker 5: I was one of the best two strike hitters in baseball,
- 6:37Speaker 5: sure that I want to continue to have. But then
- 6:42Speaker 5: from there, I want to make sure that when I
- 6:45Speaker 5: get into advantage counts, maybe a little bit more room
- 6:48Speaker 5: to take a chance to.
- 6:52Speaker 4: You know, really try to drive the ball a little bit.
- 6:54Speaker 5: And so just kind of working that into my routine,
- 6:58Speaker 5: working into my approach, work through some counts, like, hey,
- 7:00Speaker 5: let's do some advantage counts here, Okay, we'll go back
- 7:02Speaker 5: to two strikes, all right, let's get back to the
- 7:03Speaker 5: advantage counts, and just kind of work on that advantage
- 7:06Speaker 5: count mindset because for me, I keep it pretty simple.
- 7:09Speaker 5: I'm just trying to hit the ball right back up
- 7:10Speaker 5: the middle, right around the second basement's feet, and that
- 7:13Speaker 5: just gives me the most room for air with my
- 7:15Speaker 5: swing to cover every pitch in every part of the zone,
- 7:17Speaker 5: especially with two strikes. But at the same time, I
- 7:21Speaker 5: know that I got a little bit more in the tank.
- 7:22Speaker 5: And I think that's been the message that's been communicated
- 7:25Speaker 5: by the Dodgers as well as like, Hey, we're gonna,
- 7:28Speaker 5: you know, give you a little bit of freedom to
- 7:29Speaker 5: try and test these advantage counts a little bit and
- 7:32Speaker 5: you know, go for it.
- 7:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I hit some dangers. That's what they're saying. Advantage
- 7:37Speaker 6: counts or no advantage.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Now.
- 7:39Speaker 6: One of the things Todd asked and you didn't answer,
- 7:42Speaker 6: did you just get back from working out?
- 7:45Speaker 5: I did you just get back when we're out? And
- 7:46Speaker 5: the other thing that I've got going on. I have
- 7:48Speaker 5: a my my daughter is two weeks old today. So
- 7:52Speaker 5: my second child is two weeks old today. She woke
- 7:55Speaker 5: up at five point thirty this morning and did not
- 7:57Speaker 5: go back to bed, you know, So the day started
- 8:01Speaker 5: about then and went to uh actually just the Dodgers
- 8:05Speaker 5: facility in Glendale, worked out and just got home, and
- 8:09Speaker 5: so I'm in the I'm in the garage still because
- 8:11Speaker 5: this is the quiet space. I have another a two
- 8:14Speaker 5: year old son at home as well, who's he's uh,
- 8:17Speaker 5: you know, loves to play with daddy. When Daddy comes home,
- 8:20Speaker 5: that means it's time to go in the backyard and
- 8:22Speaker 5: go crazy. So this is my nice quiet space where
- 8:26Speaker 5: I can, you know, have a nice conversation with you
- 8:28Speaker 5: guys without being interrupted.
- 8:30Speaker 6: I was gonna more say about you working out. You're
- 8:33Speaker 6: working out on a Dodgers outfit. What happens if you
- 8:35Speaker 6: need gas? What happens if you need to stop, do
- 8:37Speaker 6: you wear the Dodger's shirt outside? Because we have this
- 8:41Speaker 6: conversation sometimes on the show because some people be like, oh,
- 8:45Speaker 6: you can't billboard, you can't be a billboard, and I'm
- 8:48Speaker 6: just like, it's another shirt and it's comfortable.
- 8:52Speaker 4: No, I don't.
- 8:52Speaker 5: I don't usually wear any Dodgers gear unless I'm going
- 8:55Speaker 5: to the facility. So I've been working out at the facility,
- 8:57Speaker 5: so I threw on the Dodgers gear. But yeah, I've
- 9:01Speaker 5: always been and actually I see with the Dodgers, the
- 9:04Speaker 5: LA logo is so like prominent.
- 9:06Speaker 4: It's like such a brand, you know.
- 9:07Speaker 5: You actually see a lot of guys wearing like the
- 9:10Speaker 5: Dodgers logo, and that was kind of something that I
- 9:13Speaker 5: felt like was new because most of the time, yeah,
- 9:16Speaker 5: you don't really wear your team hat around. But it's
- 9:19Speaker 5: almost like the LA brand is so like, like the
- 9:22Speaker 5: Dodgers brand is so intertwined with LA and the culture
- 9:26Speaker 5: and the fans that it's almost like, hey, if you
- 9:28Speaker 5: want to wear a Dodger hat around, like that's totally cool.
- 9:31Speaker 5: It's almost been like the the vibe that I've been getting,
- 9:34Speaker 5: it's it's been a really unique experience playing for LA.
- 9:37Speaker 5: I mean, the fans are unlike anything I've really experienced.
- 9:40Speaker 5: They are so passionate. Everybody cares about baseball as basically
- 9:44Speaker 5: the number one, which is really refreshing.
- 9:48Speaker 4: So it's been really cool.
- 9:50Speaker 7: I want to ask you a little bit about Shoho Tani.
- 9:53Speaker 7: I don't know if you have any good stories. We
- 9:55Speaker 7: saw him last night talk a little bit of English
- 9:58Speaker 7: at the Awards show. How is he with communications with
- 10:01Speaker 7: you guys? And uh does he talk much in the
- 10:05Speaker 7: in the locker room? We don't really hear much about it.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean show is great. He's uh, he's so humble,
- 10:12Speaker 5: He's so amazing. You know, it's crazy that we played
- 10:15Speaker 5: the same game. But yeah, he uh.
- 10:20Speaker 6: He does.
- 10:21Speaker 4: He does really good well with English.
- 10:22Speaker 3: You know.
- 10:22Speaker 5: I think it's he's more comfortable obviously in his first
- 10:24Speaker 5: language when you do interviews and stuff like that.
- 10:26Speaker 4: But yeah, he'll joke around, you know.
- 10:29Speaker 5: You know, just I think my favorite story is just
- 10:32Speaker 5: he's in the I'm I think I'm on the bench
- 10:35Speaker 5: that game. He's dhing, hasn't had any hits that game,
- 10:40Speaker 5: and he's like, come on, do something, do something. You know,
- 10:43Speaker 5: he's laughing with all the coaches and next to bat
- 10:45Speaker 5: home run. So it's just like, you know, he he's
- 10:49Speaker 5: a different animal, He's a different cat.
- 10:51Speaker 4: It's so much fun to watch, I mean, Game four.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Of the NLCS against the Brewers, you know, six shutout,
- 11:00Speaker 5: three homers, one left the stadium. It's like you're just
- 11:04Speaker 5: watching it on the and you're just like, this is
- 11:06Speaker 5: amazing and it's so cool to be to be a
- 11:10Speaker 5: part of it and just have a front row seat
- 11:11Speaker 5: at it.
- 11:13Speaker 4: You know, so much fun.
- 11:15Speaker 6: He takes advantage, he takes advantage of advantage counts, just
- 11:18Speaker 6: like you're trying to work on. He's been working on
- 11:20Speaker 6: that too, Alex. So that's good, you guys, are you
- 11:23Speaker 6: guys are the same same? You guys are working on
- 11:25Speaker 6: the same thing. Somebody who didn't play in Game seven
- 11:30Speaker 6: until the end, How surprised were you that Yamamoto went
- 11:34Speaker 6: out there? Like were you in it? Did you see
- 11:36Speaker 6: any of the like conversations or anything, And and when
- 11:39Speaker 6: he went out there, were you like this is crazy?
- 11:42Speaker 6: And then he almost lost the game for you guys,
- 11:45Speaker 6: obviously ends up being the MVP.
- 11:48Speaker 5: I mean, you literally can't say enough about what that
- 11:50Speaker 5: guy did. Just such an incredible performance. Uh just grit
- 11:57Speaker 5: and you know, willingness to go out there for the team.
- 12:01Speaker 4: It was it was incredible. I honestly didn't.
- 12:04Speaker 5: I was trying to like focus on like, you know,
- 12:07Speaker 5: like my role, my routine, like how I'm getting ready
- 12:10Speaker 5: because I might go into the game at some point,
- 12:12Speaker 5: getting ready to go in, so like that kind of
- 12:14Speaker 5: keeps you focused on, like now all the external stuff
- 12:17Speaker 5: like as a fan, like you would worry about once
- 12:20Speaker 5: you're out of the game. Like when I came out
- 12:22Speaker 5: of the game against the Phillies, It's like, Okay, my
- 12:24Speaker 5: job's done. Now I can just like be on the
- 12:26Speaker 5: edge of my seat and like my heart's pounding way harder.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Versus when you're still preparing to go in the game,
- 12:31Speaker 5: you're like, okay, what am I gonna do?
- 12:33Speaker 4: I'm rolling through the situations in my head.
- 12:36Speaker 5: But then like you're still watching the game, you're like, wait,
- 12:37Speaker 5: Yamamoto's down there, he's warming up. It's like, oh, man,
- 12:40Speaker 5: he's he's he's really warming up, like he's going to
- 12:43Speaker 5: go in. And then helpe, here he comes, and it's like, man,
- 12:45Speaker 5: didn't wait, how many pitches did he throw last night?
- 12:47Speaker 5: And and then for him, like you're just on the
- 12:52Speaker 5: edge of your seat, like, Okay, what's gonna happen? And
- 12:54Speaker 5: then they had guys in scoring position. He gets a
- 12:56Speaker 5: strikeout and he gets a double play, and it's just
- 12:58Speaker 5: like blows your mind and then before you know what,
- 13:02Speaker 5: you're rushing the field as World Series champs and dog
- 13:05Speaker 5: Pilon on him, you know, and just another great guy,
- 13:10Speaker 5: extremely humble, very diligent, hard working, very routine, very impressive
- 13:15Speaker 5: stuff that he does day in and day out, and
- 13:18Speaker 5: so it's really no surprise that he's able to, uh,
- 13:22Speaker 5: you know, put up a legendary performance like that.
- 13:24Speaker 4: It's truly incredible.
- 13:27Speaker 3: All right.
- 13:27Speaker 6: I should have been able to do the research before this,
- 13:29Speaker 6: but I haven't. How many games in left field have
- 13:32Speaker 6: you ever played?
- 13:35Speaker 4: Uh? I don't, I mean a lot.
- 13:38Speaker 6: Plenty a lot, right, yeah, plenty. Do you let Andy
- 13:42Speaker 6: pa Haes dunk on you like Andy Pies dunked on
- 13:45Speaker 6: Kyk in the play to save the game, or do
- 13:48Speaker 6: you knock pa Haes over? Because you've been in the
- 13:51Speaker 6: gym and you're you know, you're staying fit and Todd
- 13:53Speaker 6: said you're looking fit.
- 13:58Speaker 5: You know that that's a crazy play. I don't know
- 14:03Speaker 5: what you know I would have done in that situation.
- 14:06Speaker 5: I as long as the ball gets caught, I don't
- 14:11Speaker 5: care if I get dunked on and post rides the
- 14:12Speaker 5: rest of my life, because you know, I'm sure feels
- 14:16Speaker 5: the same way. But what absolutely, uh, you know, amazing
- 14:20Speaker 5: play by Andy. Oh, here's my little boy, bring a man, daddy.
- 14:26Speaker 5: Daddy's doing an interview right now. Can you go into
- 14:30Speaker 5: your grandma?
- 14:33Speaker 4: There we go.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Hey, that's her office. That's her office.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Make sure.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Office got broken into?
- 14:40Speaker 5: Sorry about that, but yeah, I mean amazing played by
- 14:44Speaker 5: Andy and just really couldn't you know, I can't put
- 14:50Speaker 5: into words what what that meant?
- 14:53Speaker 3: All right?
- 14:53Speaker 1: Well, ninth inning of this conversation, since the kiddos will
- 14:57Speaker 1: take over soon hopefully, I want to ask thank you
- 15:00Speaker 1: about the Playmakers Classic in Arizona. We're going to be
- 15:03Speaker 1: out there. We'll bring special coverage on FT. It's a
- 15:06Speaker 1: super meaningful event for us. We talk about it pretty
- 15:08Speaker 1: frequently to our groups that wanted to get your thoughts
- 15:11Speaker 1: on the Playmakers Classic. And of course your attendance to
- 15:14Speaker 1: anyone that's on the Arizona side for spring training is
- 15:17Speaker 1: able to make it. As you can say at the
- 15:18Speaker 1: bottom of February eighteenth, but wanted to get your thoughts.
- 15:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm super excited for the Playmakers Classic. This will
- 15:26Speaker 5: be my first time going because I've been in Florida
- 15:28Speaker 5: the last few springs. But you know, the Players Trust
- 15:31Speaker 5: does amazing work and I'm super excited to be a
- 15:34Speaker 5: part of I'm an Ambassttter forum just you know, helping out,
- 15:38Speaker 5: encouraging guys whoever wants to get involved, give back in
- 15:41Speaker 5: the community to get things started, just to encourage them
- 15:44Speaker 5: and support them.
- 15:45Speaker 4: So they do a really great job.
- 15:47Speaker 5: I did a camp last July with the players the
- 15:53Speaker 5: Players Trust. They put on an amazing event in my
- 15:56Speaker 5: hometown when I went back to play against the Twins,
- 15:59Speaker 5: just a tremendous time. They did such a great job
- 16:03Speaker 5: helping me and supporting me with something that I was
- 16:06Speaker 5: really passionate about and giving back to the place where
- 16:08Speaker 5: I grew up in my community. So yeah, Playmakers Classic
- 16:12Speaker 5: is gonna be a great time. It'll be great to
- 16:13Speaker 5: see guys out there and really gonna have fun.
- 16:18Speaker 6: Do you have any idea what to expect since you
- 16:20Speaker 6: haven't been to one yet and I was at one
- 16:23Speaker 6: two two years ago. Scott Or three years ago. I'm
- 16:25Speaker 6: not sure two two, two years ago, any idea what
- 16:29Speaker 6: to expect.
- 16:31Speaker 5: I mean, it's gonna be fun. There's gonna be a
- 16:33Speaker 5: bunch of different games. I think there's some like ski ball,
- 16:37Speaker 5: like a bunch of other things, casino games, probably good
- 16:41Speaker 5: food and good times. I mean I saw some of
- 16:44Speaker 5: the guys who went last year, you know, they said
- 16:46Speaker 5: it was a great time and you know, really looking
- 16:48Speaker 5: forward to getting out there supporting a great cause.
- 16:53Speaker 6: For sure. Are you competitive? Because that's what I was
- 16:55Speaker 6: gonna say, there's a bunch of games. Are you a
- 16:57Speaker 6: competitive person off the field, because not everybody is. Sometimes
- 17:01Speaker 6: they play non chalant, they played cool.
- 17:05Speaker 5: I mean I think, uh, I've learned to manage the
- 17:10Speaker 5: competitive spirit. You know, if you get me on the
- 17:12Speaker 5: ping pong table, there might be a different animal that
- 17:16Speaker 5: comes out. But for the most part, I stay pretty
- 17:19Speaker 5: reserved and I try to just enjoy the game. But
- 17:23Speaker 5: a few you know, maybe ten years ago when I
- 17:25Speaker 5: was in high school, would have been a completely different
- 17:27Speaker 5: competitor coming out of me for no matter what, no
- 17:31Speaker 5: matter what game it was. But now I just try
- 17:33Speaker 5: to enjoy the entire experience and win or lose, just
- 17:37Speaker 5: have a good time.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Have you played Kershaw on ping pong and did you
- 17:41Speaker 3: beat him?
- 17:42Speaker 4: If you have, I did not get a chance to
- 17:46Speaker 4: play Kersh in ping pong. Okay, what about you?
- 17:50Speaker 3: No, I haven't.
- 17:50Speaker 7: I would love to play against him, I would I
- 17:52Speaker 7: would be a good match.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Yeah, there we go. He has no clue about life.
- 18:00Speaker 7: Last thing for you, I want to talk a little
- 18:03Speaker 7: bit about your your project, your charity got going on here,
- 18:06Speaker 7: the Call for Freedom Project. Why don't you give that
- 18:07Speaker 7: a little plug and talk a little bit about that
- 18:09Speaker 7: a little more.
- 18:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I appreciate that. So January is National Human Trafficking
- 18:16Speaker 5: Prevention Month. I partner with IJM. They're an amazing organization
- 18:23Speaker 5: that takes care of helps prevent human trafficking around the world.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Make sure they work with local law enforcement to really
- 18:33Speaker 5: make sure that the predators who are doing this are
- 18:36Speaker 5: getting caught, and they're working with the justice system to
- 18:42Speaker 5: actually get these perpetrators processed and put in jail, behind
- 18:47Speaker 5: bars so they can't just pay off the cops. A
- 18:48Speaker 5: lot of these you know third world countries, they've got
- 18:52Speaker 5: you know, tough living conditions, they've got corrupt corruption running
- 18:56Speaker 5: through their system. And so IJM goes in there, sets
- 19:00Speaker 5: a system, partners with them to actually get the process
- 19:05Speaker 5: going to where we can get these criminals locked up
- 19:07Speaker 5: so they can't continue to do these horrific crimes. And
- 19:11Speaker 5: so it's an amazing, amazing organization that I'm super happy
- 19:15Speaker 5: to be, you know, shouting out and supporting and doing
- 19:19Speaker 5: anything I can to really help this important cause that's
- 19:23Speaker 5: been near and dear to mine and my wife's heart,
- 19:26Speaker 5: because really no one should have to do that, and
- 19:28Speaker 5: the goal is truly to end slavery in our lifetime.
- 19:32Speaker 6: Did you get connected with IJAM through PO Because my
- 19:35Speaker 6: wife and I we got connected with IJAM through Pao
- 19:38Speaker 6: and then now we've moved on to another company, i mean,
- 19:41Speaker 6: another charity called Worthwhile. But did you get connected with
- 19:46Speaker 6: them through there?
- 19:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that's where we first first learned about them.
- 19:53Speaker 5: And we went to PO back in twenty sixteen and
- 19:56Speaker 5: we've been going for the most part ever since. And
- 20:00Speaker 5: so it's been a while that we've uh kind of
- 20:04Speaker 5: knew about the work that they were doing, but you know,
- 20:06Speaker 5: really want to just get involved and kind of put
- 20:09Speaker 5: the pedal to the metal anyway we can.
- 20:11Speaker 4: And so.
- 20:13Speaker 5: Being able to just try to raise awareness and use
- 20:17Speaker 5: my voice in my platform to you know, speak up
- 20:22Speaker 5: for those who might not have one. And so getting
- 20:25Speaker 5: this work done is really important.
- 20:28Speaker 1: And that's Professional Athletes Outreach for PAO. Crawts likes to
- 20:33Speaker 1: use acronyms all day and then I have to be
- 20:35Speaker 1: the one that actually explains, of.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Course what they are. That's part of my job.
- 20:39Speaker 6: My wife, my wife and I were on the board
- 20:41Speaker 6: for a few years there, so I forgot I used
- 20:44Speaker 6: it as like it's just an acronym, and then I
- 20:47Speaker 6: didn't explain it.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Sorry, people, I got you, I got you.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Well.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Alex really appreciate the conversation. It was great to have
- 20:53Speaker 1: you on and we'll see you at the Playmaker's Classic
- 20:56Speaker 1: next month.
- 20:57Speaker 5: All right, thank you guys. I really appreciate you having
- 20:59Speaker 5: me and uh yeah, we'll see you guys.
- 21:02Speaker 6: Then see you then young boy in the house right now.
- 21:07Speaker 1: And then Dodger say, we'll see it Dodgers fan Fest,
- 21:10Speaker 1: which is going to be wild too.
- 21:12Speaker 2: They will see you there. Thanks Alex.
- 21:14Speaker 4: All right, appreciate you guys.
- 21:16Speaker 2: See you there you go.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Players Trust Playmakers Classic twenty twenty six edition, fourth Annual,
- 21:21Speaker 1: February eighteenth, QR Code on your screen. Otherwise, check out
- 21:25Speaker 1: tickets at Players trust dot Org. One of the events
- 21:28Speaker 1: of the year in baseball bet m Jam futures the
- 21:38Speaker 1: win total for the Padres at eighty five and a
- 21:41Speaker 1: half one twenty to win a houndo. If you go over,
- 21:45Speaker 1: it's plus money one to one hondo to win a
- 21:48Speaker 1: houndo if you go under eighty five and a half.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Thoughts from the Peanut Gallery.
- 21:57Speaker 7: Kratzy, you go first. I've been going first on the
- 22:00Speaker 7: last ones I've done with you. I want to hear
- 22:01Speaker 7: your thoughts over.
- 22:04Speaker 6: You're gonna have to convince me to not lock it
- 22:06Speaker 6: in today. You're gonna have to convince me to lock
- 22:10Speaker 6: it in. Even with the concerns that I think I
- 22:13Speaker 6: have about the rotation, I love the fat today. Today
- 22:17Speaker 6: they have Paveda, They have Michael King, they have Joe
- 22:21Speaker 6: musk Groves. They have one of the deepest bullpens, not
- 22:25Speaker 6: even just the best, the deepest bullpens in the game.
- 22:29Speaker 6: Even after losing Roberts Forz, I just have a hard
- 22:32Speaker 6: time believing that a team that gets to play the
- 22:35Speaker 6: Rockies thirteen times can't get eighty six wins.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Money. I would say this is a definite over. I
- 22:45Speaker 3: think they have the team to do it.
- 22:46Speaker 7: I'm not saying they're gonna get ninety plus wins, but
- 22:49Speaker 7: I feel like they're gonna be right on the.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Cuss in the high eighties low nineties.
- 22:53Speaker 7: And they're gonna do what they've been doing. So new management,
- 22:56Speaker 7: but same old story for the Padres. They're gonna be
- 22:59Speaker 7: the that bride's maid under the Dodgers and hopefully find
- 23:04Speaker 7: their way to make it a run.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 1: I'll take the over too. Make this a clean sweep.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I don't know if it's my favorite over, but it's
- 23:14Speaker 1: an over.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Yeah. They're losing some guys and Suarez is a big deal.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I agree. The bullpen still should be very good.
- 23:22Speaker 1: No one, I mean they're losing Bliss Rise, but no
- 23:25Speaker 1: one seems to care since the rest of the league
- 23:27Speaker 1: doesn't value him at all. I mean, we haven't heard
- 23:29Speaker 1: a peep about him. He's going to sign someone eventually. Yeah,
- 23:34Speaker 1: I'm a fan. He might sign back with the Padres.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I mean that's certainly possible. I think there's value there,
- 23:39Speaker 1: so we'll see.
- 23:40Speaker 2: But I'll go over.
