- 0:01Speaker 1: Well, it's time to talk to doctor Michael Cobble. And
- 0:05Speaker 1: good morning, doctor Cobble. How are you today, Good morning,
- 0:08Speaker 1: I'm great.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Doctor Cobble can answer your medical questions. You must have them,
- 0:13Speaker 1: everybody has them. He probably can't tell you if you say,
- 0:18Speaker 1: does this look infected to you because he can't see
- 0:21Speaker 1: you on the phone. Yeah, but maybe you could describe
- 0:23Speaker 1: it and they say, does that sound like it's infected?
- 0:27Speaker 1: You could do that. But whatever kind of malady you're suffering,
- 0:31Speaker 1: or any medical advice you might need supplement. I'm just
- 0:35Speaker 1: reading a thing about supplements, doctor Cobble, and they were
- 0:38Speaker 1: suggesting that there are supplements you can take to help
- 0:42Speaker 1: improve or at least stabilize your memory. Is that Is
- 0:45Speaker 1: that true?
- 0:48Speaker 2: There have been memory supplements promoted for many years now.
- 0:53Speaker 3: That doesn't mean it really answer it.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean supplements can say whatever they want to say.
- 1:02Speaker 2: They don't have to have any proof behind what they do.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Thanks Ron Hatch.
- 1:05Speaker 1: That was orange hats h Do you think do you
- 1:09Speaker 1: think they should have to do it, you know, go
- 1:12Speaker 1: through more rigorous testing.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I think they should because I think a lot of
- 1:17Speaker 2: supplements are probably don't have any benefit and they should be.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Studied, all right, Well some of them have been. I
- 1:26Speaker 1: mean I know that it used to be that I
- 1:29Speaker 1: don't think doctors recommended any vitamins or supplements. But now,
- 1:32Speaker 1: for instance, vitamin E. Uh, it's recommended that you probably
- 1:37Speaker 1: take some vitamin E, right doctor Cobble.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Well, you know a C D or A C and
- 1:44Speaker 2: E were big anti acidant supplements, and beta keroteene, for example,
- 1:51Speaker 2: show to increase in lung cancer. I think C is
- 1:54Speaker 2: good for the immune system that you should get it
- 1:56Speaker 2: naturally through your diet. There is a nutritional supplement called
- 2:01Speaker 2: sarah folan nac which has been shown to improve memory
- 2:05Speaker 2: through registered studies. But I don't know if E. I'm
- 2:13Speaker 2: not a huge fan of E.
- 2:14Speaker 4: I like D.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I think vitamin D is really important for muscles, memory, joints,
- 2:19Speaker 2: and bones, and most of us don't get enough D
- 2:22Speaker 2: in our diet.
- 2:23Speaker 5: We have a call online one let's go to uh
- 2:27Speaker 5: Jed Hello.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Jed by Jed Ali. How's it going good? What's your question?
- 2:33Speaker 6: I'm wondering what the signs and symptoms are of a.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Black widow bite.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So you got bit by you got bit by something
- 2:42Speaker 1: and you you don't know what it was I got
- 2:45Speaker 1: bit by something.
- 2:47Speaker 2: We could have been a normal spider, but I have
- 2:51Speaker 2: seen black widows in the fire the woodpile before, so yeah,
- 2:59Speaker 2: I mean, and typically you get some necrosis or death
- 3:02Speaker 2: of the tissue around where the black widow bite is.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I think some people can get abdominal cramping or abdominal
- 3:09Speaker 2: symptoms as well, but I yeah, that's a toughie. You know,
- 3:15Speaker 2: most people are not are not severely affected by that.
- 3:19Speaker 2: But again, stomach problems, muscle problems, and again, usually kind
- 3:25Speaker 2: of necrosis or death of the tissue around where the
- 3:29Speaker 2: black widow bites you.
- 3:30Speaker 1: How long ago did this bite you?
- 3:34Speaker 2: It's about three days ago and it's been like pretty
- 3:36Speaker 2: swollen since then.
- 3:37Speaker 1: But I'm not seeing any symptoms of that, and no debt. No,
- 3:41Speaker 1: the tissue isn't kind of dying around it, just it's
- 3:43Speaker 1: just red and swollen. There's red and swollen.
- 3:48Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, And again, if it doesn't get beefy
- 3:52Speaker 6: fire engine red, it's probably just a normal reaction. But
- 3:55Speaker 6: if it gets beefy fire engine red and it's spreading,
- 3:58Speaker 6: then you've got a bacterial infection there and you need
- 4:01Speaker 6: an antibiotic for it. But typically you can treat spider
- 4:05Speaker 6: bites or mosquito bites or any uh, any of those
- 4:09Speaker 6: types of bites. Just with local you know, soap and water.
- 4:14Speaker 3: All right, rub some dirt on it.
- 4:17Speaker 1: We used we used to. We used to spin on
- 4:20Speaker 1: half a potato and then rub it with that half
- 4:22Speaker 1: of potato. Spin on it.
- 4:23Speaker 3: All right, Thanks Jazz. Later, let's go to Brianna. Hello, Brianna, Hello.
- 4:31Speaker 7: I wanted to just ask the general question of medical research.
- 4:37Speaker 7: I google things all the time for my kids, and
- 4:38Speaker 7: I want to know where.
- 4:39Speaker 4: It's a good place that you can actually trust on
- 4:40Speaker 4: the internet.
- 4:41Speaker 3: A source, a source for what for like medicines?
- 4:46Speaker 1: What do you what do you want from this?
- 4:50Speaker 7: Just general medical research on Yeah, like theres like vitamins
- 4:53Speaker 7: book you guys were talking about earlier that I want
- 4:55Speaker 7: to do background checkers cum first.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I like the med p U B M. E. D.
- 5:04Speaker 2: It's kind of the official website for the National Health
- 5:07Speaker 2: Institute of Health and you can google or search anything
- 5:12Speaker 2: on there. That's my favorite.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Oh I'm bookmarking that.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Yeah, there you go, and then turn it. I was.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I was at a medical office yesterday and they had
- 5:23Speaker 2: a website that they recommended. I can't remember the name
- 5:27Speaker 2: of it. But there are some great websites that you
- 5:30Speaker 2: can you know, Mayo Clinic's really good.
- 5:32Speaker 3: They're a lot of different male clinics, a good one.
- 5:36Speaker 1: All right. If you go to web md, can you
- 5:42Speaker 1: and you put in your symptoms every time, it'll come
- 5:45Speaker 1: up cancer if.
- 5:46Speaker 5: You if you do it between midnight and six am,
- 5:48Speaker 5: that's the worst part, the worst worst.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Uh.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Doctor Michael Cobble is on the line. He can answer
- 5:54Speaker 1: your questions. Been bit by a spider? You could help,
- 5:58Speaker 1: But we see that who is this Mark?
- 6:02Speaker 3: Mark is on the phone.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Let's go to Mark. Yeah, Hi, Mark, thanks for holding
- 6:06Speaker 1: on there. What's your question?
- 6:09Speaker 4: That was quite a long advertisement break.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Yeah it was, but but that's how we get paid you.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it was actually shorter than it should be. But
- 6:16Speaker 3: that's another story.
- 6:17Speaker 1: All right, Mark, what's your question?
- 6:20Speaker 4: My question is, well, look, my scenario is I've got
- 6:23Speaker 4: a close friend or relative that is coming off of
- 6:27Speaker 4: chemo treatment, just had a round with colon cancer and
- 6:32Speaker 4: got some good results after that after that treatment, and
- 6:35Speaker 4: now he just broke his foot, has a list rank
- 6:40Speaker 4: fracture or injury, which is kind of like a dislocation,
- 6:43Speaker 4: fracture and tendon damage. So I'm curious, what's the best
- 6:49Speaker 4: course of action did to care for a man who's
- 6:52Speaker 4: you know, recently out of chemo treatment, got a broken
- 6:55Speaker 4: foot and also has a you know, at risk of
- 6:58Speaker 4: a heart attack as well.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Oh geez, be really nice to it.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Wow, yeah, I mean hopefully you know, physical therapy, home health,
- 7:09Speaker 2: you know, someone nursing people that can help around there.
- 7:13Speaker 2: With the lis Prank fracture, I would presume that the
- 7:16Speaker 2: dietrist is managing that and has them in a boot
- 7:19Speaker 2: or in a little scooter so they can get around.
- 7:22Speaker 4: But for the.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Cardiac pardiovascular risk, I think being on cholesterol medications and
- 7:30Speaker 2: of course blood pressure medications. Usually Liz Frank fractures a
- 7:34Speaker 2: little more common in people with diabetes, so I certainly
- 7:37Speaker 2: would have am tested for diabetes as well, because there
- 7:41Speaker 2: would be different treatments that would be required. Vitamin D
- 7:45Speaker 2: again is really important for those healing those tendons and ligaments.
- 7:49Speaker 2: So five ten thousand units a day of vitamin D
- 7:53Speaker 2: and good Mediterranean nutrition.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Does this? Does this person live with you? They do? Yeah?
- 8:01Speaker 4: Well, I they're also native American of the day was.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so I listen. What I would do is
- 8:09Speaker 1: make sure that you fluff up the pillows on the
- 8:11Speaker 1: couch and make sure he has a remote to watch
- 8:14Speaker 1: TV and ask and continually ask him if he needs anything.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Yes, you're.
- 8:22Speaker 5: Well sorry, that's a lot to deal with, and caretaking
- 8:25Speaker 5: people in that situation as hard as hard.
- 8:27Speaker 3: So take care of yourself.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Doctor Capple mentioned home healthcare nurses. Have you looked into
- 8:34Speaker 1: that for anybody coming in periodically to help.
- 8:37Speaker 4: I haven't looked into it yet, but I mean I've
- 8:40Speaker 4: I've got friends in a pretty good support system. You know,
- 8:43Speaker 4: they're from South Dakota and new to the area, so
- 8:46Speaker 4: you know they're they're meeting new people and getting to
- 8:49Speaker 4: know their surroundings a little bit.
- 8:51Speaker 1: But there you go.
- 8:52Speaker 4: You know, home health care and a bad option.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, look into that. All right, Thank you, Thank you.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Do we have any text We do have some text questions.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Let's see, good morning doctor.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Are there any over the counter testosterone supplements that you
- 9:10Speaker 5: would recommend?
- 9:12Speaker 2: Not that I'm aware of, you'll get.
- 9:14Speaker 4: The real stuff.
- 9:15Speaker 1: You hear about them. You hear about them all the time.
- 9:18Speaker 1: They're trying to sell you pills.
- 9:19Speaker 2: That are too Yeah, but none that I've seen that
- 9:23Speaker 2: have been medically tested. That actually really supplement or help
- 9:27Speaker 2: raise testosterone. But I think those products have been promoted
- 9:30Speaker 2: for twenty or thirty years.
- 9:32Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, track the trash man rights. Just seen
- 9:36Speaker 5: a story on the news about too much turmeric causing
- 9:39Speaker 5: liver damage. What is the daily recommended dose of turmeric?
- 9:44Speaker 5: I don't think you should be taking it as a subset.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Do you.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Well, it's supposed to be an anti inflammatory.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I think they say, yeah, yeah, it's pretty common, it's
- 9:53Speaker 2: pretty popular, and I don't know if it comes in
- 9:55Speaker 2: a four hundred milligram dose. I think my wife's taking
- 9:58Speaker 2: it at different times. I think, like anything that you
- 10:01Speaker 2: put in your mouth that has the risk of affecting
- 10:04Speaker 2: the liver or the kidney or the stomach or different
- 10:08Speaker 2: organ systems. I do allergy testing and I occasionally see
- 10:11Speaker 2: people that are allergic to tameric. So I think if
- 10:14Speaker 2: you start it and you don't feel good, you probably
- 10:18Speaker 2: skip bloodwork or just stop it. But I imagine it
- 10:22Speaker 2: comes in a former milligram dose.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Ye like that? All right?
- 10:26Speaker 3: Yeah, let's go to Naomi.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I am hi there, Naomi. Hello, what's your question?
- 10:32Speaker 6: Helloha?
- 10:36Speaker 7: So we were in Lake Powell and I was trying
- 10:38Speaker 7: one of those. I can't remember what they're called, but
- 10:41Speaker 7: it's like a chair that you sit on kind of
- 10:43Speaker 7: like outside of the water, and you're being pulled like
- 10:48Speaker 7: you're in a wake or like your wickboard. Yes, and
- 10:51Speaker 7: I fell, and I bruised my ribs real good, and
- 10:55Speaker 7: I got kind of that Lake Powell drainage where you
- 10:58Speaker 7: just drain all of the lakes from your body and
- 11:00Speaker 7: you're coffee a ten. And that just like completely like
- 11:04Speaker 7: made it worse. And so my question is how do
- 11:08Speaker 7: I what do I do for bruise rips? And is
- 11:11Speaker 7: there anything that heals it or do you just have
- 11:14Speaker 7: to let time heal it?
- 11:17Speaker 2: Yeah, time usually two to twelve weeks. If you're lucky,
- 11:20Speaker 2: it'll be better in two to six weeks. I think
- 11:22Speaker 2: an analgesic anti inflammatory could give you some relief. So
- 11:26Speaker 2: if you're not allergic to them, i'd be profen Motrin,
- 11:30Speaker 2: advil a leave. And then if those bother your stomach
- 11:34Speaker 2: or you're allergic to them, thil and All is your
- 11:36Speaker 2: only other option. You can use thilent all with those
- 11:39Speaker 2: other products, but I think if it's really uncomfortable, you
- 11:44Speaker 2: can get yourself a little rib belt from Walgreens or
- 11:47Speaker 2: one of those places and where during the daytime.
- 11:51Speaker 1: But it's okay time, you know, did you by the
- 11:55Speaker 1: way I would? So it was it lake pal? Did
- 11:57Speaker 1: you make sure that somebody checked your entire body quaga muscles?
- 12:01Speaker 1: Make sure make sure that you're not you don't have
- 12:04Speaker 1: any aquatic hitchikers, aquatic hitchhikers on you?
- 12:08Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, checked?
- 12:11Speaker 1: Okay, Sorry, I didn't mean to make you laugh. It
- 12:13Speaker 1: probably hurts, but that so, I've never heard of a
- 12:19Speaker 1: rib belt. What is this? Is it a compression like
- 12:22Speaker 1: a trust like you know, go check I'm making emotion.
- 12:27Speaker 3: You know, it wraps around here, has an elaborate series
- 12:30Speaker 3: of trusses.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Go check that out. NAO means that that probably that
- 12:38Speaker 1: sounds like that would help.
- 12:39Speaker 7: All right, Okay, thanks guys, thank you very much.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Sure glad you didn't have any quaga muscles.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Yeah. Let's see.
- 12:47Speaker 5: I have Raino's syndrome and was told it was caused
- 12:50Speaker 5: by an autoimmune Is that true?
- 12:54Speaker 6: Oh, it's possible.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I mean, people with autoimmune disease can have Rainos phenomenon
- 12:59Speaker 2: or reinos, but a lot of people have rhinos without
- 13:04Speaker 2: autoimmune illness. You can do autoimmune blood work testing, or again,
- 13:09Speaker 2: if you're not having musculo skeletal problems with it and
- 13:12Speaker 2: you're just getting those blue or white toes or fingers,
- 13:16Speaker 2: calcium channel blocker prescriptions are pretty good to dilate that
- 13:20Speaker 2: area the capillary blood flow. So having Reina's does not
- 13:26Speaker 2: mean you have autoimmune disease, but autoimmune disease can cause rainos.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Hopefully that makes sense.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I got it, all right. Getting in the weeds here.
- 13:36Speaker 5: What are doctor Cobble's thoughts on prescribing compounded ters zeppetide.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Oh, that's like it's like ozempic.
- 13:45Speaker 5: It's off brand where you go to a firmac Okay,
- 13:48Speaker 5: all right, I don't know.
- 13:48Speaker 1: What that is.
- 13:49Speaker 2: So terzepetite is Monaro for diabetes or zepp bound for
- 13:56Speaker 2: weight loss, and then semi glue tide is zempic for
- 14:00Speaker 2: diabetes or weight go v for weight loss. And the
- 14:05Speaker 2: FDA has recommended that compounding pharmacies not make those products
- 14:09Speaker 2: and people not get those products from the compounder just
- 14:12Speaker 2: because they're not regulated and it's considered illegal, although compounding
- 14:18Speaker 2: pharmacies may not be at risk for being legally responsible,
- 14:25Speaker 2: but I think it's probably better to get those products
- 14:29Speaker 2: from the manufacturer. So the manufacturer would be either Eli
- 14:32Speaker 2: Lilly or Novo Nordesk, and most of them have a
- 14:36Speaker 2: manufacturer coupons so you can get them at the cheaper
- 14:39Speaker 2: price similar to the compounding price.
- 14:42Speaker 1: There you go, all right, thank you, doctor Pablo. That's
- 14:44Speaker 1: all the time we have, seeing a a couple of weeks.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Be safe and maybe I'll see.
- 14:49Speaker 2: You tomorrow, see you Thursday.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, thank you,
