- 0:27Speaker 1: It is time to believe your worries outside and laugh with
- 0:31Speaker 1: us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley, along with Trey
- 0:35Speaker 1: Trenholm and Raj Sharma on Thursday January sixteenth, twenty twenty five.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Man on an eventful week, not just for us inside
- 0:50Speaker 1: the treehouse, and certainly it has been for those dealing
- 0:54Speaker 1: with the wildfires in southern California, in which case, if
- 0:59Speaker 1: you'd like to help, you can go to Redcross dot Org.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I think that's a great spot to start. But it's
- 1:05Speaker 1: also been a big week for NFL football. And then
- 1:11Speaker 1: when you whittle it down a little bit more, because
- 1:13Speaker 1: you had this past weekend was the first weekend of
- 1:16Speaker 1: NFL playoffs. This weekend is the second round of NFL playoffs.
- 1:23Speaker 1: But it was a huge week for one Eagles fan
- 1:26Speaker 1: in particular. It started out last weekend like most Eagles
- 1:33Speaker 1: fans weekends, and that's berating another team's fans. And it's ended,
- 1:40Speaker 1: and the week's not even over yet, and it's ended
- 1:44Speaker 1: with him being banned from the stadium in Philadelphia and
- 1:50Speaker 1: fired from his really really really good job that he
- 1:53Speaker 1: had last week for berating a Packers fan in the
- 1:59Speaker 1: stands Trey. Have you seen the video of the Eagles
- 2:05Speaker 1: fan uh calling a Packers female fan a dumb sea word?
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yes, I have.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I should have known the answer to that already. I
- 2:13Speaker 1: think you've got a news alert set to the sea word.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's uh, I mean it's.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I don't know, why are people shocked about Eagles fans.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Like it?
- 2:30Speaker 2: I it's it's dumbfounding. This is this is not new.
- 2:38Speaker 3: In fact, they're probably tamer than over the course of
- 2:43Speaker 3: our lives that we have.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Seen mm hmm.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's uh, it really is. It's a it's a
- 2:49Speaker 1: fascinating study that I don't know if anyone has ever
- 2:52Speaker 1: had the courage to do, which is to truly analyze
- 2:56Speaker 1: the angst and anger of Philipadelphia fans and Philadelphia people,
- 3:02Speaker 1: because this is something that is not limited to just
- 3:07Speaker 1: the Philly sports teams fans. I mean, this is something
- 3:10Speaker 1: that seems to infiltrate throughout the citizenry of Philadelphia and
- 3:17Speaker 1: surrounding areas. It's just like the spotlight has a tendency
- 3:24Speaker 1: to shine brightest on the sports fans because that just
- 3:27Speaker 1: comes out more so, maybe those are more of the
- 3:29Speaker 1: stories that get told.
- 3:32Speaker 5: It's like they should have before every game. They should
- 3:36Speaker 5: just have an anger management class.
- 3:40Speaker 1: It's almost like like in Philadelphia when you get your
- 3:43Speaker 1: driver's license, not in addition to passing the driving test,
- 3:46Speaker 1: you also have to take an anger management course, right,
- 3:50Speaker 1: and then where you got that? Every few years.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Everybody has to get to the stadium an hour early
- 3:54Speaker 5: and then hr comes out.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You think you think that hr REP would survive.
- 4:02Speaker 5: No, but you give it a you give it the
- 4:06Speaker 5: old college try, and you try to do an anger
- 4:10Speaker 5: management class. And then the national anthem and that's that.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You go, hello everyone on the jumpbotron. It's like instead
- 4:15Speaker 1: of the national anthem at some port, hr REP. Yeah
- 4:18Speaker 1: all right everyone, I need I know before we get started,
- 4:20Speaker 1: I need you to watch a video on proper fan behavior.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I mean, it's a city that has a statue of Rocky. Wait, wait,
- 4:32Speaker 3: what do you want?
- 4:34Speaker 1: I know? It really is sad. It's like Philadelphia's biggest
- 4:37Speaker 1: hero is fictional.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, let's let's look at you know, Detroit
- 4:43Speaker 3: RoboCop Philly, Rocky city that usually gets his people, feels
- 4:53Speaker 3: worse than Philly.
- 4:55Speaker 5: Rocky is supposed to be inspirational, like you can achieve anything.
- 4:58Speaker 5: He's the underdog and he to the top, like that's
- 5:01Speaker 5: what that's supposed.
- 5:02Speaker 1: To be, by hitting people, some of which may be
- 5:06Speaker 1: your wife.
- 5:08Speaker 5: He was madly in love with his wife, by the way.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but in twenty first century terms, it's kind of
- 5:14Speaker 1: a controversial plot point in the First Rocky how he
- 5:16Speaker 1: might be a little abusive towards Adrian.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Yeah, but the City of Brotherly Love is exactly the opposite.
- 5:24Speaker 1: It's the most ironic nickname for a city in the
- 5:27Speaker 1: history of this entire planet. Yes, and that includes Rome,
- 5:33Speaker 1: where they had the Colisseum where they they they murdered
- 5:36Speaker 1: slaves for sport. Yeah, I somehow feel like the Romans
- 5:41Speaker 1: were nicer about it. Granted they killed people. Philly doesn't
- 5:45Speaker 1: necessarily do that, but they do it with words.
- 5:49Speaker 5: I'm just saying, if you if they had batteries back
- 5:53Speaker 5: in the Roman days, they not think they wouldn't throw
- 5:56Speaker 5: them at the slaves. I'm just saying it was lack
- 6:01Speaker 5: of equipment, Dan.
- 6:05Speaker 1: They just didn't know back then. If if they were
- 6:08Speaker 1: armed with the technological advances that we have today, it
- 6:11Speaker 1: might have been a different scenario back then.
- 6:14Speaker 5: Right, But I haven't seen this video, so I don't
- 6:17Speaker 5: know what the context is. I mean, I'm I'm just
- 6:19Speaker 5: I get, I mean, I understand what it means.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Trey, will you will you set up the context form
- 6:24Speaker 1: of what's happening while I try to find this video
- 6:26Speaker 1: so rog can take a gander at it.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Well, it's the Eagles Packers playoff game.
- 6:32Speaker 5: M h.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a Packers fan in Eagles Stadium.
- 6:38Speaker 5: That's still unfortunate.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, Drey could just stop right there. That's
- 6:44Speaker 1: bad enough.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And the Eagles are winning, yeah, and.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Go all right, here we go. Uh So, yeah, this
- 6:58Speaker 1: is up in the upper decks to the stands, and
- 7:00Speaker 1: you've got a pair of Packers fans. You have a
- 7:04Speaker 1: female Packers fan standing in front of cheering for her
- 7:07Speaker 1: team that's in the red zone, and the belligerent Eagles
- 7:11Speaker 1: fan standing behind her, and her boyfriend is recording this exchange.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And the boyfriend, by the way, happens to be a
- 7:17Speaker 1: Packer's content creator. So that's part of the reason why
- 7:20Speaker 1: this has been so prevalent on social media.
- 7:24Speaker 5: Okay, so now the.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Girl is cheering for the team, going yeah, okay, we're
- 7:42Speaker 1: closer to the goal line even though they didn't score,
- 7:44Speaker 1: and the Eagles fan leans into her ear from behind
- 7:46Speaker 1: her and screams, they didn't score a dip s. He
- 7:53Speaker 1: continues to scream in her ear, and then the girl,
- 7:55Speaker 1: the fiance of the guy recording the video, just turns
- 7:58Speaker 1: and is kind of rolling her eyes, and the guy
- 7:59Speaker 1: just keeps up. So that's the part that got him
- 8:13Speaker 1: in trouble. I says, do not call her an ugly
- 8:17Speaker 1: dumb sea word, and then the Philly fan responds with, well,
- 8:20Speaker 1: she is an ugly dumb sea word. And uh. Now
- 8:23Speaker 1: the come uppance has fallen upon this man. Uh and
- 8:27Speaker 1: he's been banned from the stadium and he's also been
- 8:33Speaker 1: fired from his actually what sounds to be like a
- 8:35Speaker 1: pretty good project management job at some sort of firm,
- 8:40Speaker 1: which which I feel.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Like, I feel like for a Philly fan, the being
- 8:43Speaker 3: banned is far more has a far bigger sting to
- 8:46Speaker 3: it than losing your job.
- 8:51Speaker 1: That's true.
- 8:52Speaker 5: What happened to you man, I lost my job and
- 8:54Speaker 5: I got banned from the stadium. Man sucks about the job,
- 8:57Speaker 5: but the stadium rough man rough.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Uh and and the and the Eagles has a franchise
- 9:03Speaker 1: felt bad. So in order to apologize for this fan
- 9:06Speaker 1: and what seems to be a good chunk of their
- 9:08Speaker 1: fan base. They sent this poor Packers fan a bunch
- 9:12Speaker 1: of Packers gear.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Oh wow.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Okay, so a nice gesture on the part of the
- 9:19Speaker 1: Eagles franchise. But the problem is when you're the Eagles franchise,
- 9:23Speaker 1: these are still a good junk of your fan base,
- 9:26Speaker 1: and you've all at some point your your merch budget's
- 9:29Speaker 1: gonna gonna run out.
- 9:31Speaker 5: Yeah, your your apology budget.
- 9:35Speaker 2: And listen.
- 9:35Speaker 3: It's even worse like for female Cowboys fans.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Because of the because of alliteration.
- 9:47Speaker 2: He was just good. Yeah, the absolute hatred of Cowboys
- 9:50Speaker 2: fans by them.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, this is just a Packers fan. If this
- 9:52Speaker 1: is a Cowboys fan, this might have been way different.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I had have been worse.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I had a couple of ladies that I know, Diuyard
- 10:01Speaker 3: Cowboys fans that want to go see a game in
- 10:03Speaker 3: every stadium.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I told them, no, you don't.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Ooh, hold that story. I want to hear more about that.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Don't go anywhere.
- 10:15Speaker 6: You're listening to the tree House Visitor is online at
- 10:18Speaker 6: Treehouse on air dot com.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Time now to talk to Daniel Cook from cook DFW
- 10:29Speaker 1: Roofing and Restoration for your free roof inspection and to
- 10:32Speaker 1: get yourself on the very important cook list eight three
- 10:34Speaker 1: to three cook DFW or the website cookdfw dot com.
- 10:39Speaker 1: It's that time of season, Daniel, and that season is
- 10:41Speaker 1: of course people on their roofs decorating for the holidays.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Many people already have decorated, which means they're going to
- 10:47Speaker 1: take them down soon. And is that when they're going
- 10:50Speaker 1: to discover that maybe they did little damage to their
- 10:52Speaker 1: roof when they put up Santa Claus and his reindeer man.
- 10:56Speaker 7: It is that time of the year. Merry Christmas to
- 10:58Speaker 7: you and everybody body listening. And yes, sir, we see
- 11:02Speaker 7: a lot of roof damage, especially around the edges of
- 11:07Speaker 7: the people's homes. A lot of people will skirt around
- 11:10Speaker 7: the sides because they get scared about going too far
- 11:12Speaker 7: up and they kind of hold themselves up around the
- 11:15Speaker 7: edge as they're plugging the lights around, or they'll hold
- 11:19Speaker 7: the ladder against the side of the roof and they'll
- 11:21Speaker 7: damage the shingles all the way around the edges. So
- 11:25Speaker 7: there's a lot of things that happen to shingles and
- 11:27Speaker 7: it may not damage it right away enough to leak,
- 11:29Speaker 7: but it's going to potentially put it there. So we
- 11:32Speaker 7: always suggest having your roof checked out once a year
- 11:35Speaker 7: at least obviously for all the weather that we have,
- 11:37Speaker 7: but especially if you know you've had people on top
- 11:40Speaker 7: of your roof hanging lights or decorations, or you know
- 11:43Speaker 7: you see some shingles that are starting to fold on
- 11:45Speaker 7: the corner, so let us come out. Let's do an inspection.
- 11:48Speaker 7: May need some minor repairs, but it could save you
- 11:49Speaker 7: potentially thousands of dollars later on.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Eight three to three cook DFW that's eight three three
- 11:54Speaker 1: cook DFW or that website cookdfw dot com.
- 12:04Speaker 8: You're in the tree house, visit us online at freethouse
- 12:08Speaker 8: OnAir dot com.
- 12:11Speaker 1: This segment of the Treehouse is brought to you by
- 12:13Speaker 1: Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration. To get your free roof
- 12:16Speaker 1: inspection called eight three three cook DFW. That's eight three
- 12:21Speaker 1: three cook DFW to get that free roof inspection. Also
- 12:24Speaker 1: get yourself on the very cool cook list. Get more
- 12:28Speaker 1: info by giving them a call eight three three cook
- 12:30Speaker 1: DFW or the website cook dfw dot com. I'm Dan
- 12:34Speaker 1: along with Trey and Raj back inside the treehouse. Now
- 12:37Speaker 1: we were just discussing the Eagles fan last weekend who
- 12:42Speaker 1: was berating the Packers fans sitting in front of him
- 12:45Speaker 1: at the game, in which Philly won, by the way convincingly.
- 12:51Speaker 1: So there's really no need for the unnecessary trash talk
- 12:54Speaker 1: other than just being a raging soul. But we're talking
- 12:59Speaker 1: about Philly. So yeah, and Trey, this is a great
- 13:03Speaker 1: example of why you just told us that You've got
- 13:08Speaker 1: a pair of friends who are female that have stated
- 13:11Speaker 1: to you that they want to go watch the Cowboys play.
- 13:14Speaker 1: They're diehard Cowboys fans. They want to go watch the
- 13:17Speaker 1: Cowboys play at every stadium, including Philadelphia. And you told
- 13:21Speaker 1: them what.
- 13:22Speaker 2: I said, Oh you don't, no, no, no, no, no.
- 13:27Speaker 3: They they did one of these things, and it great
- 13:31Speaker 3: thing to do. Especially their late twenties. They were like,
- 13:36Speaker 3: we're gonna go, you know, to one away game every year.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:41Speaker 3: So over the years they they went to like San Francisco.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Which, by the way, San Francisco, if you follow sports
- 13:52Speaker 1: closely enough, that's kind of a dangerous place too. You
- 13:56Speaker 1: wouldn't think it if you don't follow it, but it is.
- 14:02Speaker 3: I want to say, maybe Tampa I forgot over you.
- 14:05Speaker 3: But but they and then they were like, well, we're
- 14:07Speaker 3: gonna go to Philly.
- 14:08Speaker 2: No, no, I go, I go Philly.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Especially, but the Northeast as a whole is not the hospitable,
- 14:18Speaker 3: nice place that people might think it is.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Especially that.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Is any has anyone left the Northeast going you know
- 14:25Speaker 1: what they're really they're really sweet up there.
- 14:30Speaker 3: But I people don't, especially when it comes to sports.
- 14:34Speaker 3: They take nasty to a whole another level. Like they're
- 14:39Speaker 3: just mean and vile a lot of times. And so anyways,
- 14:45Speaker 3: they they rolled their eyes at me, like, you know, oh,
- 14:48Speaker 3: we're two girls, what's gonna happen?
- 14:52Speaker 2: I wait, they don't care. Yeah, and I'll never forget.
- 14:56Speaker 3: They came strolling in after uh when they got back
- 15:00Speaker 3: from Philly, and their eyes.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Were that big.
- 15:04Speaker 5: They're like they went.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Uh huh oh yeah they went all right.
- 15:08Speaker 1: To their credit, they survived uh huh hm physically, but
- 15:12Speaker 1: mentally and emotionally. I wonder what their state was like.
- 15:16Speaker 3: They ended up leaving, uh because they didn't feel safe
- 15:23Speaker 3: and they got called every name in the book. Yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 3: you know, they they it was not the hospitable environment
- 15:29Speaker 3: they thought it was going to be for two single ladies.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Okay, So now I have I have one major question
- 15:37Speaker 1: with this scenario with the two cow with the two
- 15:40Speaker 1: female Cowboys fans going to Philadelphia to watch a game.
- 15:45Speaker 1: At what quarter did they leave?
- 15:47Speaker 5: Like?
- 15:47Speaker 1: How far into the game did they make it? Did
- 15:49Speaker 1: they make it to halftime?
- 15:52Speaker 2: Yes?
- 15:54Speaker 1: Did they leave at halftime or did they like call
- 15:56Speaker 1: it somewhere in the second half and then then they bolted.
- 15:58Speaker 3: I want to say it was sometime, I'm early in
- 16:01Speaker 3: the third quarter. I think the Cowboys were winning and
- 16:09Speaker 3: they they decided they were no longer safe. But they really,
- 16:13Speaker 3: in their heart of hearts, it was like innocence lost
- 16:18Speaker 3: because they really thought, who is going to be mean
- 16:22Speaker 3: to two single girls?
- 16:24Speaker 1: Philadelphia?
- 16:25Speaker 2: Yeah, like Philly fans.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Philly fans easily. In fact, here's the thing. When you've
- 16:30Speaker 1: got a city like Philadelphia and its latest example of
- 16:34Speaker 1: how terrible some of the people there can be. You've
- 16:38Speaker 1: got this guy berating a Packers fan, calling her an
- 16:41Speaker 1: ugly dumb sea word. And I'm not even sure if
- 16:45Speaker 1: this most recent example of Philly fandom even cracks the
- 16:49Speaker 1: top five of the worst Philly moments in history. I
- 16:53Speaker 1: did some research to see, so I want to see
- 16:55Speaker 1: if you guys think this most recent example of Philly
- 16:59Speaker 1: being terrible can even crack the top five of worst
- 17:03Speaker 1: Philly moments in history. Okay, are you ready? Here we go.
- 17:06Speaker 1: We've got at number five. I feel like he needs
- 17:10Speaker 1: some music here.
- 17:12Speaker 2: No no, no, no, no.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Today on the Treehouse Top five the five worst Philadelphia
- 17:23Speaker 1: fan moments in history? Are you ready? Number five? Booing
- 17:29Speaker 1: and pelting Santa Claus in nineteen sixty eight. So this
- 17:33Speaker 1: is not a new trend. This is something that fans
- 17:35Speaker 1: over the previous century as well, booing and pantings. Booing
- 17:39Speaker 1: and pelting Santa Claus in nineteen sixty eight. Fans who
- 17:43Speaker 1: were there say they were booing the team, not Santa,
- 17:47Speaker 1: but the man in the Santa suit had a different take.
- 17:49Speaker 1: He remembers being booed and hit with snowballs, and he
- 17:52Speaker 1: even refused a return invitation the following year because he
- 17:56Speaker 1: was afraid it might not snow and he'd be hit
- 17:59Speaker 1: with beer bos instead of snowballs. Wow, that's number five,
- 18:04Speaker 1: Number four. That time when Philadelphia Eagles fans cheered for
- 18:09Speaker 1: Michael Irvin's career ending neck injury. And here's the thing.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I remember watching that game live and for a while
- 18:19Speaker 1: We didn't know if he was dead because they showed
- 18:23Speaker 1: the replay and how his neck went, and I thought,
- 18:25Speaker 1: I've seen Rambo. Ironically, I've seen Rambo do that to
- 18:31Speaker 1: people's necks and they died. So for a while, we
- 18:34Speaker 1: didn't know if Michael Ivan was gonna live. And then
- 18:36Speaker 1: when we could see that he was gonna live, we
- 18:38Speaker 1: weren't sure if he was going to walk again. In
- 18:40Speaker 1: the whole time, Philly fans be like, Yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 5: That's great, that's awesome.
- 18:44Speaker 1: That's number four. Cheering about the possible death of an
- 18:47Speaker 1: opposing team's wide receiver is only number four on my list.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Number three of the top five Philly fans memorable moments.
- 18:57Speaker 1: The Bounty Bowl trey. You know about this nineteen eighty
- 19:00Speaker 1: nine Eagles versus Cowboys. Fans through frozen snowballs, ice and
- 19:05Speaker 1: beer at Cowboys players and coaches, including the punter. Fans
- 19:10Speaker 1: also through snowballs at the announcers Vern Lundquist and Terry Bradshaw,
- 19:16Speaker 1: and then Eagles player Jerome Brown had things thrown at
- 19:21Speaker 1: him because he had the audacity to ask the fans
- 19:23Speaker 1: to stop throwing things in the first place. That's still
- 19:27Speaker 1: only number three. Number two.
- 19:30Speaker 3: I mean that's he said, bounty ball, I mean, and
- 19:34Speaker 3: it got its name because Buddy Ryan will put bounties
- 19:37Speaker 3: on Cowboys players heads to intentionally hurt them.
- 19:41Speaker 1: And there's that. Yeah, that's the team sanctioned part of it. Okay,
- 19:48Speaker 1: then number two. Do you guys remember Hitchbot. Hitchbot was
- 19:54Speaker 1: in twenty fifteen, was a friendly hitch hiking robot from Canada.
- 19:59Speaker 1: He was sent from Canada to hitchhike around North America
- 20:02Speaker 1: and he made it two weeks because when he stopped
- 20:04Speaker 1: in Philadelphia, he was promptly beheaded. Yes, that's number two,
- 20:12Speaker 1: and that leads us to number one. Of Again this
- 20:16Speaker 1: is subjective. This is my list of the top five
- 20:19Speaker 1: worst Philadelphia moments in history. Number one the Philadelphia Phillies
- 20:25Speaker 1: fan who intentionally vomited on an eleven year old girl. Wow,
- 20:32Speaker 1: do you remember that one, Trey?
- 20:33Speaker 2: I do remember that one. That was a good one.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Yeah, the one, the one, and it really was probably
- 20:40Speaker 3: an oli on your list. But there's always the Eagles
- 20:44Speaker 3: fan that I think they lost a playoff game to
- 20:48Speaker 3: Eras or Atlanta and he drunkenly punched the police horse.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I'm going to add that to my honorable mention.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's outside looking in.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good one. That's a great honorable mention.
- 21:02Speaker 1: That's a good ride in. Thank you, Trey. The other
- 21:04Speaker 1: one that I did have as an honorable mention was
- 21:09Speaker 1: Phillies fans fighting each other in the stands during the
- 21:12Speaker 1: two thousand and eight World Series ring presentation ceremony. So
- 21:17Speaker 1: the players are getting their rings from winning the World
- 21:19Speaker 1: Series the year before, and on opening Day in the stands,
- 21:23Speaker 1: Phillies fans are fighting each other. The reason why that's
- 21:26Speaker 1: an honorable mention and not making the top five is
- 21:28Speaker 1: because at least they were punching each other.
- 21:32Speaker 5: It's just stout selling alcohol in all Philly stadiums.
- 21:37Speaker 1: They did once. That was in response to I believe
- 21:43Speaker 1: it was the Bounty Bowl in nineteen eighty nine when
- 21:45Speaker 1: everything was really really bad. That was like the second
- 21:49Speaker 1: to last game of the season and the final game
- 21:51Speaker 1: of the season at the stadium they had no beer sales.
- 21:57Speaker 5: Okay, I was just kidding, but.
- 22:01Speaker 1: And also keeping in mind that the stadium where a
- 22:03Speaker 1: lot of this stuff happened was called Veterans Memorial Stadium
- 22:07Speaker 1: in honor of our veterans, and it was also to
- 22:10Speaker 1: the best of my recollection. The only stadium in the
- 22:13Speaker 1: United States history to have its own jail. No, that's
- 22:18Speaker 1: not there was another one. Almost all of the cowboys
- 22:23Speaker 1: have their own.
- 22:25Speaker 5: Yeah, but that's that's in recent years.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Right the corral, thought that was the bar. May it
- 22:35Speaker 1: rest in peace.
- 22:42Speaker 9: This is online Treehouse on Air dot.

- 23:20Speaker 1: on Thursday January sixteenth, twenty twenty five. We're all at
- 23:25Speaker 1: the age where we have friends that have kids. A
- 23:27Speaker 1: lot of those kids are getting older and they're doing things.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Have you guys been hit up for fundraising by friends
- 23:34Speaker 1: kids yet.
- 23:37Speaker 5: Yet?
- 23:38Speaker 1: Huh?
- 23:41Speaker 3: Most of my friends their kids are old. I'm past
- 23:43Speaker 3: that stage, sadly. Oh I'm getting get up for graduation gifts.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Oh god, that's oh man, that's steams. It's just a
- 23:54Speaker 1: tough thing when you get that, when you get the
- 23:56Speaker 1: you know, the baby shower announcement type thing, and then
- 23:59Speaker 1: you blink a couple of times and all of a
- 24:01Speaker 1: sudden you're getting the graduation announcement. You're like, yeah, I
- 24:04Speaker 1: gotta get more gifts.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:07Speaker 5: I always know when there's a fundraising scam. That's when
- 24:10Speaker 5: I get invited to dinner from a friend like I
- 24:12Speaker 5: haven't seen in a very long time. And then I
- 24:15Speaker 5: can see the popcorn form in the corner and I'm like, oh,
- 24:20Speaker 5: that's why I'm here.
- 24:22Speaker 1: They still do that because what I'm about to share
- 24:24Speaker 1: with you, I believe has been has gone to a
- 24:26Speaker 1: new level of child activity fundraising.
- 24:29Speaker 5: Yeah, popcorn I spent. I couldn't say no. It's my niece.
- 24:35Speaker 5: She's like, can you buy some popcorn for me? And
- 24:36Speaker 5: I bought like sixty dollars worth of popcorn. You'll never
- 24:40Speaker 5: get that. No.
- 24:43Speaker 1: So Tara and I have good friends and they just
- 24:49Speaker 1: got married recently, and their kids, so her kids and stepdad, right,
- 24:56Speaker 1: they've so our friends just posted on Facebook about their
- 25:00Speaker 1: your youngest son's baseball team fundraising efforts. Okay, I'm gonna
- 25:06Speaker 1: share this with you. Here we go, Hi, friends and family.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Joel's baseball team is selling Super Bowl squares to pay
- 25:14Speaker 1: for their baseball tournament. You've got four chances to win
- 25:18Speaker 1: two hundred and fifty dollars each quarter forward only, no overtime,
- 25:22Speaker 1: twenty five dollars per square. Joel currently has eight squares available,
- 25:27Speaker 1: and then it shows the graphic of all the squares
- 25:30Speaker 1: that are available. Let me know which one of Joel's
- 25:33Speaker 1: squares you'd like to claim. All squares need to be
- 25:36Speaker 1: paid by February third. You can Venmo at the Venmo handle. Also,
- 25:41Speaker 1: Zell and cash app are available, Thank you. And then
- 25:48Speaker 1: it has the picture of Joel's super Bowl squares with
- 25:52Speaker 1: his baseball team's logo and everything on it, so you
- 25:55Speaker 1: know it's legit. So here you have the child of
- 25:59Speaker 1: one of are couple's friends raising money for his baseball
- 26:04Speaker 1: team through Super Bowl squares. And here I am remembering
- 26:08Speaker 1: the days of one hundred and five degree heat going
- 26:11Speaker 1: door to door selling chocolate bars inside of a cardboard
- 26:14Speaker 1: box in Dallas. So uh, this ain't fair, right, because
- 26:22Speaker 1: he's gonna make a lot of money.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Just the Don Corleone League, are they? The Fredosalia's.
- 26:42Speaker 1: The worst part is if you don't pay, you already
- 26:45Speaker 1: know that those little bastards are armed. They're gonna come
- 26:49Speaker 1: at you with a bunch of baseball bats.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Or horses.

- 28:28Speaker 1: thought of the little gambinos running around town selling Super
- 28:32Speaker 1: Bowl squares to fund their baseball team.
- 28:35Speaker 5: I just like, I'm excited to see their uniforms, just
- 28:38Speaker 5: black silk shirts and gold chains.
- 28:42Speaker 2: All I you think I was at the end of
- 28:43Speaker 2: my Blue Heaven.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Yes, yes, that's exactly what's in my head. They're all
- 28:50Speaker 1: dressed like little mobsters in shiny silk soup baseball uniforms. Again,
- 29:03Speaker 1: if you miss any part of the show, go back
- 29:05Speaker 1: to go back and listen to the Treehouse podcast. You
- 29:07Speaker 1: can hear what we're talking about. When our friends kids
- 29:10Speaker 1: decided to sell Super Bowl squares for fund raising for
- 29:14Speaker 1: the baseball team, and just imagine if they were to
- 29:18Speaker 1: actually go door to door and do it, which they
- 29:20Speaker 1: could really sell. Trying to tell the kid, Nos, he's
- 29:23Speaker 1: got a baseball bat hanging on his shoulder.
- 29:27Speaker 3: And I feel like, now we kind of have to
- 29:29Speaker 3: put this in as you know, if you're under thirty five,
- 29:31Speaker 3: probably My Blue Heaven movie with Steve Martin, Rick Morana's fantastic,
- 29:36Speaker 3: Probably what nineteen ninety ish Yep, Yeah, it.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Should be required watching.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Go go watch it, and just like you'll get you'll
- 29:44Speaker 3: get the jokes.
- 29:45Speaker 5: Just like how the kid just is like, you know,
- 29:46Speaker 5: there's eight squares left and he's got a baseball bat
- 29:49Speaker 5: in his hand. He was like, you know, I'll take
- 29:51Speaker 5: one square. There's eight left, still eight?
- 29:58Speaker 2: Why you being cheap? Why you being cheap? This is a.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Oh God, all right, speaking of speaking of kids and
- 30:10Speaker 1: things were different in a different time. If you follow
- 30:12Speaker 1: us on social media you need, then you may have
- 30:15Speaker 1: seen this video. This, This particular video from a nineteen
- 30:19Speaker 1: seventies public service announcement is simply titled Ricky Gets Caught.
- 30:24Speaker 1: This is this is what This is an all timer
- 30:26Speaker 1: without a doubt, and RAJ slapped it up on our
- 30:29Speaker 1: Instagram feed the other day to thunderous applause from the
- 30:36Speaker 1: masses for people that may not have seen it, and
- 30:38Speaker 1: for those that have that were just thoroughly enjoyed the
- 30:41Speaker 1: nostalgia of it. So I want to share it with
- 30:44Speaker 1: you today. That is Ricky Gets Caught, the public service
- 30:49Speaker 1: announcement from the nineteen seventies. This is what happens when
- 30:54Speaker 1: a young boy in the prime of adolescence gets caught
- 31:00Speaker 1: by his mom spanking it. So it starts out with
- 31:08Speaker 1: Ricky in his bedroom and he's got the covers pulled
- 31:11Speaker 1: up to his neck and he's staring straight up at
- 31:14Speaker 1: the ceiling and you could see motion in his hands
- 31:18Speaker 1: around his crotch area. And if you heard of the
- 31:25Speaker 1: term thousand yards stare, well, Ricky as he's staring up
- 31:29Speaker 1: at the ceiling has like a million yards stare. This
- 31:33Speaker 1: is truly kind of a terrifying look on a child's
- 31:36Speaker 1: face as he's masturbating, because I'm kind of worried about
- 31:39Speaker 1: what he's thinking about because I don't think it's anything healthy.
- 31:42Speaker 5: But what if there's something on the ceiling.
- 31:46Speaker 1: He's not blinking, so whatever's on the ceiling is scaring me, okay.
- 31:53Speaker 1: And then there's a turn of the door knob, the
- 32:02Speaker 1: door opens, Oh.
- 32:06Speaker 10: Excuse me, Ricky.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Whoops, Ricky's got busted. Well, he didn't bust, but he's
- 32:11Speaker 1: been busted.
- 32:13Speaker 10: Uh.
- 32:13Speaker 1: We're assuming this is his mom, and she says, oh,
- 32:15Speaker 1: excuse me, Ricky, Ricky, I did see what you were doing.
- 32:20Speaker 1: It felt good, didn't it. It didn't it.
- 32:24Speaker 5: That's just the weirdest comment to make.
- 32:26Speaker 1: It felt good, didn't it didn't it? I don't know, Lady.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Doesn't look like he was enjoying himself. He's staring at
- 32:34Speaker 1: the ceiling like like he's thinking about murdering clowns.
- 32:44Speaker 9: It felt good, didn't it. It's all right.
- 32:46Speaker 8: We all have feelings like this sometimes.
- 32:49Speaker 5: I'm just glad you're doing this in the privacy of
- 32:51Speaker 5: your own room.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Has he done it in other rooms?
- 32:55Speaker 5: Whoops in the way?
- 32:58Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 32:59Speaker 1: Is he doing it in the front yard next to
- 33:01Speaker 1: like the kid peeing statue fountain thing, just trying to
- 33:03Speaker 1: mess with the neighbors. I'm just glad you're finally doing
- 33:06Speaker 1: this in your own room instead of mine.
- 33:09Speaker 5: Now we won't get any more complaints from Bible Camp.
- 33:16Speaker 1: What have we told you, Ricky.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Just because we couldn't afford a water weasel?
- 33:26Speaker 1: And now I feel sorry for young Ricky with his
- 33:29Speaker 1: void of any sort of expression and emotion face as
- 33:31Speaker 1: he looks at what we're assuming is his mother telling
- 33:34Speaker 1: him that it's okay to have these urges when.
- 33:37Speaker 8: You're a little bit older.
- 33:38Speaker 7: We'll have to talk more about these feelings, oh good,
- 33:40Speaker 7: and what causes them and how we can control these feelings.
- 33:46Speaker 7: I'm sorry I intruded on your privacy. I'll be sure
- 33:49Speaker 7: to not next time, Okay.
- 33:53Speaker 1: And she closes the door, and we get a close
- 33:55Speaker 1: up of the poster on his door, which says make
- 33:58Speaker 1: love not war, which I think is fitting.
- 34:02Speaker 10: This manner of response frees the child of the guilt
- 34:06Speaker 10: and assures him.
- 34:07Speaker 1: He is normal.
- 34:08Speaker 10: It opens communication between parent and child and introduces the
- 34:12Speaker 10: concept of responsibility for his behavior.
- 34:17Speaker 1: I'm worried about the fact that Ricky's gone back to
- 34:20Speaker 1: not blinking, like, as soon as I'm done jerking it,
- 34:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna kill you.
- 34:27Speaker 5: And the music is great too, because I always wonder
- 34:29Speaker 5: what happened to Garfunkle after you left the band for
- 34:38Speaker 5: masturbating adolescents.
- 34:43Speaker 3: And look how far we've come, because now that's a
- 34:45Speaker 3: whole genre of porn.
- 34:51Speaker 1: They were trailblazers and back then.

- 35:34Speaker 1: follow at Treehouse on Air, as are handled across all
- 35:37Speaker 1: the social media platforms at Treehouse on Air, give us
- 35:42Speaker 1: a follow. The thing about the Ricky gets Caught video
- 35:46Speaker 1: that you posted on Instagram rang, which I love. It's
- 35:49Speaker 1: an all time classic. PSA is we're just supposed to
- 35:54Speaker 1: assume that Ricky who gets caught masturbating, is at home
- 35:57Speaker 1: in his own bed and the woman that walked sin
- 36:00Speaker 1: on him and catches him as his mom, when in reality,
- 36:03Speaker 1: we don't know that to be true. That could be,
- 36:06Speaker 1: that could be somebody else's house, that could be somebody
- 36:09Speaker 1: else's mom. Ricky could be on a sleepover and missus
- 36:12Speaker 1: Anderson walks in and she says, oh, hi, Ricky. But
- 36:16Speaker 1: what she doesn't know is that her son, Timmy is
- 36:19Speaker 1: the one underneath the blanket that she can't see. And Trey,
- 36:27Speaker 1: You're right, this really did for a nineteen seventies public
- 36:31Speaker 1: service announcement on masturbating and how it's normal and how
- 36:33Speaker 1: a parent's reaction to it needs to be calm and measured.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Sorry for the pun was absolutely at the forefront of
- 36:44Speaker 1: its time, because now, like you said, Trey, family incest
- 36:49Speaker 1: porn is one of the most popular porn searches that
- 36:52Speaker 1: there is, as baffling and gross as it is to
- 36:56Speaker 1: me personally.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Also like the reaction that I think was far more common.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Remember Weird Science, when Kelly the brons like and why
- 37:09Speaker 3: they're tossing off in the bathroom and the moms.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Like, oh my god, what you were brushing your teeth.
- 37:20Speaker 5: You touched on my point, No, no point intended.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Uh.
- 37:24Speaker 5: It was like, oh, hi, Ricky, you know this is
- 37:27Speaker 5: not your house, so please stop and go home.
- 37:39Speaker 1: We've we've talked about this many times. Did you cut
- 37:44Speaker 1: off your ankle?
- 37:45Speaker 2: Monitor again? How do you keep getting in?
- 37:49Speaker 1: So we've really got to put locks on those windows.
- 37:53Speaker 3: We said, make yourself at home. There were lines Ricky boundaries,
- 38:00Speaker 3: make a sandwich, play a video game.
- 38:08Speaker 1: I couldn't help but think though, because the video of
- 38:11Speaker 1: Ricky gets caught masturbating that you posted on Instagram. Rage.
- 38:15Speaker 1: While it's wonderful, I couldn't help but get a little
- 38:18Speaker 1: excited on my own for finding the Ricky longer and
- 38:22Speaker 1: uncut version online where it includes at least a little
- 38:28Speaker 1: more of the context of the PSA. But we still
- 38:31Speaker 1: don't know. We're just left to assume that it's his
- 38:34Speaker 1: house and that's his mom. But we, like we're pointing
- 38:36Speaker 1: out here, we don't really know that to be sure.
- 38:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I just like to see the casting call for
- 38:43Speaker 5: the kid. It's like, can we get somebody that looks
- 38:44Speaker 5: dead inside?
- 38:50Speaker 1: I will say the mom also looked at dead inside,
- 38:52Speaker 1: so at least it's believable that they could be mother
- 38:55Speaker 1: and child, because he clearly gets that from her. Meanwhile,
- 39:00Speaker 1: you know why the dad's not in that scene because
- 39:03Speaker 1: he's off masturbating god knows where, because that's where gets
- 39:07Speaker 1: it from.
- 39:08Speaker 5: The tool said the tool shed in the backyard.
- 39:11Speaker 1: He's out in his shed.
- 39:14Speaker 2: He's in the neighbor's garage.
- 39:15Speaker 3: And that, Bob, you know, this is not your house.
- 39:23Speaker 11: These are not your tools. That is, we're not going
- 39:29Speaker 11: to make it the birthdays, are we, Bob?

- 40:41Speaker 1: Rosharma inside the Treehouse just a little bit more before
- 40:44Speaker 1: we close up the Treehouse for the day. I figured,
- 40:49Speaker 1: let's just uh, we've had a running theme for part
- 40:52Speaker 1: of the show, and that theme seems to have been
- 40:56Speaker 1: so I figure, let's just stay with the theme. You know,
- 41:07Speaker 1: Usually a bunch of makes things hard, but in this case,
- 41:12Speaker 1: they all came together to solve a massively huge problem.
- 41:19Speaker 1: We have trade to think for this story. By the way,
- 41:21Speaker 1: on the island of Malta, potholes have become a huge
- 41:24Speaker 1: problem and no repairs were being done. So one man
- 41:29Speaker 1: took the whole problem into his own hands. Armed with
- 41:33Speaker 1: cans of spray paint, he spray painted penises around the potholes,
- 41:37Speaker 1: which then forced local authorities to finally fix them. According
- 41:42Speaker 1: to the man who spray painted the fallacies, the potholes
- 41:45Speaker 1: had been left to deteriorate for months. This is not
- 41:48Speaker 1: the first time something like this has happened. The unconventional
- 41:51Speaker 1: form of protest has precedents in other parts of the world,
- 41:54Speaker 1: including Spain and the United Kingdom. So watch out, thirty five,
- 41:58Speaker 1: We've got our eye on you. Like it just goes
- 42:03Speaker 1: to show. I mean, if you really want your local
- 42:07Speaker 1: authorities and lawmakers and people in power to do things,
- 42:11Speaker 1: you're just gonna have to drop around them.
- 42:15Speaker 5: Couldn't they just get a Dominoes, weren't they fixing potholes
- 42:20Speaker 5: for the longest time.
- 42:22Speaker 1: There was a Dominoes that was doing that for a while. Yeah,
- 42:24Speaker 1: they would drive along, deliver pizzas and fix the potholes
- 42:27Speaker 1: for people. Yeah, but you know that's that's private industry
- 42:30Speaker 1: taking care of what's supposed to be our tax dollars
- 42:33Speaker 1: doing it, not our thirty units or less policies.
- 42:38Speaker 3: I mean, if they did it in Dallas, Dallas would
- 42:40Speaker 3: try to spin it to where it's like some new
- 42:42Speaker 3: Banksy thing.
- 42:45Speaker 5: You're right, art exhibit.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, it's a new gorilla art thing. It's a yeah,
- 42:52Speaker 1: it's a Banksy type thing. Of course, with all the
- 42:56Speaker 1: potholes in DFW, someone goes around and spray paints wieners
- 43:01Speaker 1: around all the potholes, everyone's gonna think it's just a
- 43:04Speaker 1: gang bang waiting to happen.
- 43:07Speaker 5: They're just gonna make it like a map route all
- 43:09Speaker 5: the way to the DMA. Just follow the dongs all
- 43:15Speaker 5: the way to the museum, follow the dogshole.
