- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Coming up on the show today, Brock Heward, great football analyst talking forty nine or c-hawks week one.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: It is week one of the NFL season week two of the college football season.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Hey guys, guy here.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: It is Tuesday morning on what is a very busy week.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: College football was awesome this weekend for those of you that are into that.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: I am.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I've got a big week this week.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: My schedule because some of you, I've been encouraged to share.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: I am filling in for Greg Poppa this week on radio, Niners at Seahawks on CanBR.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I've got a college football game on Saturday, which I'm excited about.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: Thursday I'll travel to Penn State.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: We'll have coaches meetings with the Penn State coaches on Friday.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: And then Penn State has a football game on Big Ten Network on Saturday and noon.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Eastern, not any specific and then I've got a five thirty flight out of state college to Chicago to Seattle gets me into Seattle Saturday night.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: If all goes well, fingers crossed and then we got no problems on on Sunday and hopefully a great football game.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the week ahead here.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Niners have opened
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: open locker room on Wednesday.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I go down to Santa Clara on Wednesday and hopefully have some some more to share with you all that.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the week ahead.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Looking forward to it.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: The goal, I know this has come up a couple of times.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: We haven't talked about it in a month or so.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: But the goal here is to do as much content as always.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: A little challenging with this first week of doing two games.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm working through that.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: But like I said, excited to talk to Brock and have some other stuff for you guys here.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: A lot's happened since I last did a podcast, maybe a week ago, John Jennings returned to practice.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited to get out there on Wednesday and just kind of see this group and try and visualize what they look like almost full strength.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Because the nighters at full strength, any team, full strength, first, not full strength, the two very different things.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: But for a team this
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: You know, kind of top-heavy, that has this much elite talent that makes the top-heavy.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's particularly special.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a big week for Brock against Sam Darnold, not because Sam was around or anything like that.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that Donald represents a kind of a level of quarterback that's not elite, but also better than a backup, right?
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Middle the league, which is a compliment because most guys, as we know, what do we love to say on this show?
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: There aren't thirty two people out of the face of the earth that can play quarterback in an acceptable level.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: And last year, Sam's Arnold played quarterback at a more than
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: acceptable level didn't get paid like a true starting quarterback though.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think there's just going to be a lot of these games where, you know, it's not Brock versus Sam, but in a way, you go in and you'll hear this in even what Brock cured has to say.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like, okay, who's?
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: Who's going to play better today?
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like, Brock against the Seattle defense, Mike McDonald, Donald against Robert Sala, you know, like, who?
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of those types of matchups that
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: I do think Brock needs to win, so that's part of the fun of this week.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: One thing I mentioned in this conversation with Brock is how good the week one NFL schedule in the league is obviously we got Thursday, Cowboys Eagles Friday night, Chiefs Chargers.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: But what I referenced to him was how good the one o'clock Pacific games are on Sunday, but I didn't go through them.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll say them here.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: Seahawks hosting the Niners.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: Lions at Packers.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: Texans at Rams.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: So those are the three games.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: All games that you know could easily be prime time matchups.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: any given week.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think Texan's Rams is really intriguing.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, a little more so than even Lions Packers, because I feel like I have a idea what those two teams are.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: But then the Lions with new coordinators, I mean, it's just incredible.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Vikings, bears, is Monday night, Saturday night, Ravens, Bills, also great.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: So just a lot of great games this weekend.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: Steelers, jets.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: So good.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: Jackson Dart at the commanders, his debut.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I think the other one that's really very under the radar, because it's just not as good as these other games at all.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: But we'll be one of the first games that I want to watch on, you know, Sunday on the plane back home or maybe Monday morning, whatever.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be Cardinals at Saints because those are the Niners next to opponents.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: Spencer Ratler, starting for New Orleans, you know, but guess that means he'll start week two against the Niners probably, but I think it's going to be a revolving door of quarterbacking at New Orleans.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I think whatever we see week one is not, we'll see week five.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: And then the Cardinals come in week three.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: So I just think it's a, you know, I guess now looking at it, the question is, what game wouldn't I watch?
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: Even Panthers, Jax, I'd be into.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: There is not Titan's Broncos.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: Your first instinct is math, but like, wait, are the Broncos good?
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: Camorys debut.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: So, I don't think it's this way every week one.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it is.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: You know, bucks at Falcons, dolphins at Colts.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: Those are probably the two
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: quote unquote least interesting.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: Games, those are two TENAM games on the West Coast, but it's not hard early in the year to find something interesting in every game, but this week, I think, is particularly really good, really, really good.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Even to start a year when we're already juiced up, this has some good stuff.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: All right, that's said, let's get the Brock.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: All right, this is one of the best is we get ready for nine or C Hawks.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: One of the best there is.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's great to have Brock cured.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's true.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, morning shows Seattle Sports, seven, ten.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: When people ask me, who's the, who are, who are favorite analysts on TV?
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: And he's taking a, he's away from team.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it's a break.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully we get itself.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: I hope we get Brock back on on TV soon, but the tight end, the tight end's coach.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: at Christian McCaffrey's high school, also his son's high school, Valor Christian.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think they want the road to Vegas this week.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: We are two and a oh, we're trying to go to three and a on the road in Vegas.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, rock here, man.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's great to see you.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for making time.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we actually, Mike, say in further head coach.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the name that should be familiar to football fans, both his dad and Mike at twenty something year coached college level, head coach, a Western Kentucky coordinator at
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: Notre Dame, Boise, Minnesota, and he did the smart thing because he recruited Christian McCaffrey to Stanford.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: And he did the smart thing and retired Christian's jersey this last April.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: So we had the whole McAfrey gang and crew back to the high school man.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: It was phenomenal.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's fun stuff.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's cool.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: Is that the only retired jersey at Valley Christian?
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: I believe so not a real old school.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: We're only about fourteen years old.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: So Christian was on the front end of it.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: Want a bunch of state titles and my goodness.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: attention that he gained from both the student athletes and many of the high school gals.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was very, very real good looking dude.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's big on IG in addition to, uh, in addition to the NFL.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the thing about Christian's funny is like, you know, I'm sure you see, I'm sure you guys have old, which must be cool to have access like old Christian McAfrey high school tape obviously being around him here in the Bay Area at Stanford to see him to see him with the Panthers to see him in the NFL.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's one of these guys, like his table, it probably looks the same at every level, which is pretty crazy, right?
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the game, the game's never caught up to usually each level you go up, the speed of the game kind of slows you down.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: And now man, he is, and he is just a precaution muscle.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you see him in person, that's, you see in his football uniform, I got to do this, right?
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: And then you see him in person, you're like, oh, that's how that sweater's supposed to look.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't look the way anybody else, but it looks really good on that guy.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's a great call.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: We're excited man.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like I'm excited to see him obviously for him to start in Seattle's and be like these are huge games, you know, all these games are big games.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: For all the talk last weekend of like historic college football weekend.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it's such if anything in the NFL can be sneaky, but it's the one-a-clock games, especially this weekend.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: And this one is almost a little under the radar.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: Ninersy Hawks, I think nationally, just because, and I was where six wind teams, he actually didn't make the playoffs.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know, maybe we're used to this game being like,
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: humongous in years past, and maybe doesn't quite feel like that, but give me your, where are you at?
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think that's what I wanted to establish with you today, Brock, is like, where are you at with the seahawks?
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: Every team in this division has, I think a case they could win it, a case they could finish fourth.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: So we're, we're yet we'll see atle.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it feels a little bit kind of going back to the college football thing.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like this last week.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like Ohio State Texas, LSU Clemson Miami right Notre Dame feels like you're going to you're going to get to know what your team is.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe a little more and I know the NFL's tricky in that way.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Because we see surprises in week ones that all of a sudden that team is terrible.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we got to be careful as we do a college football.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: But this is a man.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: These are two teams that know each other.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: These are two staffs that largely know each other.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: The Clint Kubiak, the new O.C.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: was with Shane a hand and and Sam was down there.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: And the Shane a hand tree is what Mike McDonald was brought here to chop down.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: And to destroy and to put in the end and to put in the fire and turn to ashes because Pete Carroll could never do it against McVay or Shane Hancock consistently.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: And last year, you saw McDonald's start to make some real strides in the second half of the year defensively.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: When hired guy, it was really thought of that he would be a disruptor.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: that, you know, he's going to come in and kind of like in business, like he's going to be a disruptor to all these offensive minds and offensive powerhouses, especially in this division, first and foremost.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm, I'm higher, I'm Salt my morning co-host, Mike Saltkin, I have hosted the morning show for like, seventeen years, been the flagship of the Seahawks from day one.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: And he and I both are along these lines of man, are we just too close to it?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: Because everybody nationally, largely,
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: other than Kyle Brandt to pick the Seahawks to win the division this morning.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: But they guess an outside analyst and outside like it's just yeah, they're going to be third or fourth in division.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think they got a great shot.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you know, if Stafford says healthy, I think they're the best team.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: I got to see Perti do it over the course of the season with a little less around him and a little more pressure on him now that he is the guy with those expectations.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I think Seattle is a really, really sneaky talented roster.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, I think given all the questions with Seattle, with the Niners and the Rams, if you can stop the run and run the ball.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I mean, that was the biggest issue for the forty-nine years last year.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: They couldn't stop the run without McAfee.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: They couldn't score touchdowns on the red zone.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: And so it seems like watching you over the course of this preseason, watching your show in the mornings.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: And it feels like there's been this question in Seattle.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like, all right, guys, we ran the ball on the preseason.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like, is this real?
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's you guys, they ran the hell out of the ball in the preseason.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, Pete Carroll was really disappointed.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: That game ended up in a tie and the Raiders actually came back and they're opening preseason game played, Crosby and Jenty and Gina.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: Afterwards, just knowing Pete the way we do and reading them, you know that he got his butt kicked like, wow, physically.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: We were not there.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: Kansas City played a bunch of their starters.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously not their top end guys, but
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: They had a lot of depth, I think, eighteen, the guys returned defensively.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: So there were starters out there and Seattle, just absolutely bold of some forty eight carries.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody had a preseason game like the Seox did against Kansas City, nowhere else and all of the preseason.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: Did you see forty eight carries for two hundred and sixty five yards by anybody.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that was such an outlier and it was just consistent.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: It was the ones, it was the twos.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: But in particular, the ones that game that were just like, wow, that's refreshing.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's actually what it's supposed to look like.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: That's actually, you know, when they hired Shane Waldron from the Rams out of the McVey out of the Shanahan tree, that's what it was supposed to look like and it never wants not even one time.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: in a preseasoned scrimmage or practice or game did it ever look like that.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think that gave some people a level of excitement.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll say this to guy, like this is going to be the youngest online in the lake.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's now one guy up front on a second contract that's starting.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: So they are super, super young, but they have never been more athletic.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: Are they going to be good?
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but they have never collectively been this athletic.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: Charles Cross left tackles a great athlete.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: The left guard greys able.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: The first round pick is a tremendous athlete.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen Sundella, a little bit under size, but a really good athlete.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: Bradford's probably the least athletic, but by far the most powerful.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: Abe Lucas is six, six, three, twenties, and the best shape of his life unbelievably athletic.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: So they've actually got some clay to mold that they have not had on that offensive line.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: really since it became early.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, producer Connor and I were talking about this last week.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I got our attention the night, the, you know, Dan Jeremiah, who I know you talked to a lot.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: There's like, one point, oh, one point two, one point three, draft, one point five, one point.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: But the one, the day before the draft is the day before the draft, he had the Niners taking Grey's Abel.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: And that got our attention.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like, okay, I don't think they're going to take a guard at eleven, but
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's like there's something there, you know, and they want a different direction.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: They took Michael Williams, so we didn't get to see in the preseason because of injury.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: And then it sounded like Gray's able had a great, you know, had a great camp.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, Gray's just.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's different, and they need, they need it different.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: They tried to do a whole bunch of some of all the parts.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: They've tried to go cheap labor with veteran guys.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: They've tried.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a glucose is a third round pick that yeah, it's pretty bad knee stuff the last two years obviously Charles they invested in and are going to resign here eventually.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it's been just a bunch of moving parts.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: Some of all the parts they hope would be greater than it hadn't been and they've been dominated by LA and been dominated in the division by San Francisco upfront.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I think this is the first time they've got a legitimate fighting chance.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: And those guys in San Francisco are going to say, huh?
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's better.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's these guys actually are moving and moving me a little bit and hitting me and actually have a definitive plan and a plan of attack of the way they want to do this and oh, by the way, like four of their receivers are great blocking receivers and two of the three tight ends are really good blocking tight ends and
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: They got this two hundred sixty five pound fullback with thighs, you know, as big as ham hawks.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's just his name.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: And then this crazy Brady Russell who plays with his hair on fire.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, literally out of the balance.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, they're going to be, I don't know how good they're going to be, but there is no way you're going to come out of a game against the Seox offense and go, oh, that was soft.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that was finesse.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to try to hit you and hit you as much as they can.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's the part of the preseason.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_00]: We're like, say what you want about who you're playing against, whatever.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think I think about what you said, like it's just about it's signaling that it's different, right?
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, you know, these Geno teams, Genos, one of the most prolific pastors, maybe, yeah, record, like Seattle Records.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: They were fifth and fifth highest passing rate last year in the league.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's obviously going to change this year.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think of Jeno, you kind of just knew guy, you know, it's like unlike college football, right, where you really don't know and weak one exposes a lot of things gives you data that just consistently surprises like Jeno, you know, and Jeno, I was just looking at numbers actually him and say him darnal were two of the most clutch quarterbacks and all the NFL last year.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: I said, you know, I know I did not know that.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, our buddy Hawke blogger put out some great perception, verse, reality stats of sand Arnold, you know, five game winning drives.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I had with Matthew Stafford for the most in this division and clutch numbers and just under pressure and under direct genos, great and all those things and actually so was Sam.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: Save for the last two weeks of the season, not maybe not so good.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: But you knew what you got with genos.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a turn in the page and doing so with a much younger player.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's totally bought into this system.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's one thing about Sam.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: At this stage of the game, I believe he knows what he is and equally he knows what he's not.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a lot of young quarterbacks burn out of this league because they never realize actually what they're not and protecting against what they're not.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I think this system all the run, all the play action, all the under center you're going to see.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: It drove me freaking crazy last year with Ryan Greb like
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: can we stop with the shotgun on eighty percent of the snaps.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: Bosa knows exactly where you're going to end up.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: And our tackles aren't that good anyway.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: And it's an unfair fight.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: So this will be a little bit more of a fair fight.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is going to be a really really good game as most are with the Niners and Seahawks and Seattle.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think this will be very compelling theater.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: I remember watching Donald here in camp two years ago, and he was for those listening, I'm air quoting battling with trade lands for the QB two spot.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: And one thing that was really clear, he was immediately ahead.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: And one thing he made note, he just wasn't making mistakes, which was not like the rap on Sam Darnold, right?
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, like, you know, better than far better than me, like quarterbacking, I heard two different offensive coaches this weekend, college football say the number of just decision making, like just start with that.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_00]: And so like I mean, it's pretty funny to see a guy like him coming off the year he just had getting, you know, a lot of the end of the year, whatever, you know, he has to him or Baker have to be to a non rookie best deals in the NFL.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, what do you give me your same darn or like, where yeah, what can he be?
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, first few weeks are pretty rough at training camp.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that was a testament, honestly, to this defense.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: And basically, everybody returning to Marcus Lawrence, going to be an ex-factor.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the sea ox and the Niners both get each other at like some of the best time of the year for this evaluation.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: Now San Francisco looks like John Jennings back.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I know you've got a few more guys out than Seattle.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: See all of us, everybody.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they are totally, totally healthy.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's Christian McCaffrey, which is always a bummer when you play in the Niners because he's at a hard time staying healthy.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: So it should be good on good, you know, cross the board.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: And when it was early in camp, Sam struggled.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: This defense was ahead.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: Last couple weeks.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, in the Green Bay Joint Practice, the reason Green Bay played all their starters, and C.O.X.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: played none, because they got their butt kicked in that joint practice.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was Seattle very much handled them at the line of scrimmage and Sam and J.S.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: and, and they were awesome.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: So they're kind of building off of, I think, some really, and you want it that way.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: If you're Sam Darnell and the C.O.X fan, you'd rather have it that way than the inverse where, hey, they popped the first couple weeks, but the defense caught up.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: This was kind of the other way around that there's some confidence and some quiet confidence.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think any of them mind being picked last to win the division.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: Vegas is picking them last, most think that it's a step back, most think that say I'm to step back from Gino.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they mind that little chip on the shoulder either.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: All right, last thing, do you have any, I'm gonna throw this at, I don't, I don't have a theory I've been thinking about it for twenty four hours.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_00]: Our, our spotter statistician for, then forty nine hours radio, gave me this stat and I can't figure it out.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: The forty-nineers have lost.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: Seven straight, one o'clock, one fifteen, one twenty-five games in Seattle.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: They have not won a day, a day Sunday, like so we've played three straight Thursday games.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: They have not won a Sunday afternoon game in Seattle since two thousand eleven.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: When David acres made four field goals.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: Now they haven't played a lot like they've been a lot of Thursdays, they've been some Sundays and you know, anything, anything come to mind.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: No, actually no.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: There's not any theory that is the most random.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: If it were baseball, you would say, that's just baseball.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's just baseball.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: No, I can't say that the caffeine.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: I can't say that, you know, it gets dark at four o'clock.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: Come November.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: I can't.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: No, I can't.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really have any any theory for that other than as a Seahawk fan, his livelihood depends on the Seahawk ratings and then doing it.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully they go to O&A.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_00]: All right, hey, Brock.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for making time, man.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: I know you're busy.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: Good luck this week.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it's great to see you, bro.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate you as well.
