- 0:34Speaker 2: We're going to need a bigger burger.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Yum, yum, yum, yum.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Oh, oh, mogey, mogey, mogey.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Hey.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Under the gym, walking around the joint, doing press-ups as
- 0:50Speaker 2: soon as you get out of bed in the morning,
- 0:53Speaker 2: some ab crunches. God, you're looking good, mate. How's life?
- 0:56Speaker 3: Well, when you're looking as good as I do, man,
- 0:59Speaker 3: you can only be going grouse. Yeah, true, true. You're
- 1:01Speaker 3: a bad dog, you sick son of a... But you've
- 1:02Speaker 3: been working out as well, eh?
- 1:04Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit, mate.
- 1:05Speaker 5: Did you notice, have you?
- 1:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I noticed.
- 1:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Well, when you get to our age, because, of course,
- 1:10Speaker 3: you're 40 now. Yeah, boy. 40, Jase. Holy.
- 1:14Speaker 2: 40.
- 1:16Speaker 3: He's 40. Finally, he's made it. Unbelievable.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Just in hindsight, on that front, Mogi, I should have
- 1:22Speaker 2: had a 40th birthday party because it's quite the occasion,
- 1:24Speaker 2: isn't it?
- 1:25Speaker 4: Don't make me play the audio from yesterday.
- 1:26Speaker 3: It's not too late. It's not too late.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Maybe when I get back from overseas, I'll have a
- 1:32Speaker 2: big 40th birthday bash.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Well, why don't we make it, because I know we've
- 1:35Speaker 3: got Come Dine With The Fellas there at Old Pugzans.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Why don't we just have everybody turns up and we
- 1:39Speaker 3: can just have a big party there after Come Dine
- 1:41Speaker 3: With Me?
- 1:42Speaker 2: That can be the theme of Pugzans party.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Jase's 40th.
- 1:45Speaker 1: 40th.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, good.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yeah, good.
- 1:48Speaker 3: He's keen. How are you going there, Keezy, you mad dog?
- 1:50Speaker 4: I'm okay, fellas.
- 1:51Speaker 3: You've had a rough start today. You've had old Hoity
- 1:54Speaker 3: Jays just at you, man. He's at you.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Tearing shreds off me from my new shoes, my Japan shoes.
- 1:59Speaker 3: It's more the full outfit. It wasn't so much just
- 2:01Speaker 3: the shoes, was it? No. It was more the look.
- 2:03Speaker 2: No, it was the overall look. But, look, as I was,
- 2:07Speaker 2: you know, go and check out the podcast if you
- 2:08Speaker 2: want to know what we're talking about. As I was saying,
- 2:11Speaker 2: I am in no position to judge anyone, Keezy.
- 2:14Speaker 4: And yet you do it.
- 2:15Speaker 2: And so you look how you feel comfortable, man.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Thanks, man.
- 2:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Yeah, as I said, these are my holiday shoes. I'm
- 2:21Speaker 4: going away next week and I'll be walking around with
- 2:23Speaker 4: these puppies on, just breaking them in.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Breaking them in today.
- 2:27Speaker 3: It's exciting. It's not long until you guys go away. Yeah, man.
- 2:29Speaker 3: It's not long at all.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Totally.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Do you still want me to pick you up on
- 2:32Speaker 4: the way to the airport?
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that'd be good if you could, Keezy.
- 2:34Speaker 3: That'd be great. What's happening on The Big Show with
- 2:40Speaker 3: Old Mowgli. Speaking of the fellas going away on holiday,
- 2:43Speaker 3: old Keezy has been alerted to yet another travel scam.
- 2:47Speaker 4: Yeah, it almost got me this morning. So this is
- 2:49Speaker 4: a bit of a PSA later on in the show.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Oh, I like to hear it. Also, fellas, after the
- 2:54Speaker 3: weekend and watching that Newcastle victory over Penrith, an inspiring
- 2:58Speaker 3: piece of sporting history, I've had a bit of a
- 3:01Speaker 3: change of heart around my grand final tickets. Oh, yeah. Oh, really?
- 3:05Speaker 3: We'll get to that a bit later on. And coming
- 3:07Speaker 3: up next, Hoiti J. wants to wear the same clothes
- 3:10Speaker 3: every day for the rest of his life. Is that right?
- 3:12Speaker 2: That's my preference, but I need, cause you guys are
- 3:14Speaker 2: the experts and you know, we have been talking a
- 3:16Speaker 2: lot of fashion today. So I'd like your opinion on
- 3:19Speaker 2: a few things if you don't mind. In the meantime,
- 3:22Speaker 2: here's Black Keys.
- 3:24Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Radiohead there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. Uh,
- 3:33Speaker 2: the time is 4.13. I've got to be honest with
- 3:35Speaker 2: you fellas. Today, uh, Had a bit of a dilemma
- 3:37Speaker 2: on my hands. I just couldn't think of what to wear.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Do you ever have days like that?
- 3:41Speaker 3: It's funny.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Well.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Yes. Yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 2: You know, you get up and.
- 3:46Speaker 3: You go, oh.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Really? I don't know.
- 3:49Speaker 3: It's so funny because to me, you strike me as
- 3:52Speaker 3: a man who always knows what to wear.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I know I do. I do. I get that impression.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Because every day you wear exactly the same thing. Yeah.
- 4:00Speaker 4: It's like you wake up and you go, oh, I
- 4:01Speaker 4: don't want to wear the same shit as yesterday.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll wear the same hat. I'll wear the same hoodie.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I'll wear the same jeans. And I'll wear the same shoes,
- 4:09Speaker 3: give or take.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Well, funnily enough. That brings me to what I want
- 4:12Speaker 2: to discuss with you today. Now, yesterday, you won't notice
- 4:16Speaker 2: this probably because you guys aren't particularly attentive. You don't
- 4:21Speaker 2: pay attention. We're not observant. You're not observant people.
- 4:24Speaker 3: We're indifferent.
- 4:25Speaker 2: You're indifferent. Thank you, Mogi. I wore the same shirt yesterday.
- 4:30Speaker 3: I'd be shocked if you didn't.
- 4:31Speaker 2: And it was sitting on my chest, my Asian chest
- 4:35Speaker 2: of drawers.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I don't see how the continent of origin is relevant.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I'm trying to specify the quality of what it was
- 4:42Speaker 2: lying on.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Are you saying it's worse quality? No, it's good quality.
- 4:46Speaker 2: It's a beautiful Japanese chest. And I saw that shirt
- 4:51Speaker 2: and I went, well, hang on, hang on.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Sorry, I was just picturing a beautiful Japanese chest.
- 4:59Speaker 2: You see, this is what I'm talking about.
- 5:02Speaker 4: What are you talking about?
- 5:03Speaker 2: And my shirt was lying on top of it after
- 5:06Speaker 2: stripping it off last night before getting in the bed there.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Is this filth, Jack? No, it's not.
- 5:13Speaker 2: And I thought to myself, you know what? I only
- 5:15Speaker 2: technically wore that shirt for half a day yesterday. So
- 5:19Speaker 2: surely it's, and this was about midday today, surely it's
- 5:22Speaker 2: all G for me to wear it again. And then
- 5:25Speaker 2: I recall, because you guys have been great for me
- 5:27Speaker 2: on this front, because you've given me a lot of
- 5:29Speaker 2: advice over the years. For example, you'll recall jean chat.
- 5:34Speaker 3: You used to wash your jeans after every wear?
- 5:36Speaker 2: No, I used to, yeah, every wear or every two days.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Which is crazy.
- 5:40Speaker 2: And Mogi, you were like, what are you doing, you
- 5:43Speaker 2: absolute idiot? You can wear them for a month before
- 5:47Speaker 2: you need to wash them.
- 5:48Speaker 4: And I was like, really?
- 5:49Speaker 3: But I don't.
- 5:50Speaker 2: So I started doing that. Your gruddies, your undies. You know,
- 5:56Speaker 2: I would always be every day I'd have a fresh
- 5:58Speaker 2: pair of undies. But no, no, Mogi's like, you're an idiot.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Every two or three days is totally all G.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Is that what you do? I don't wear undies at
- 6:07Speaker 3: all now.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah, he goes commando.
- 6:08Speaker 3: It's a robbery. You're being done. They're doing you. Calvin Klein,
- 6:13Speaker 3: he's absolutely doing you, Keezy. Totally, man.
- 6:15Speaker 4: What do you mean me? I don't wear Calvin Klein's.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Your socks. Can you focus, please? Your socks. Again, I
- 6:24Speaker 2: was every day. Mogi's like, you're a mad bastard. You
- 6:28Speaker 2: could change those weekly. And I was like, sweet ass.
- 6:31Speaker 2: I tell you what, it saved me a lot in
- 6:33Speaker 2: laundry costs.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:35Speaker 4: So the shirt you're talking about, is it the one
- 6:38Speaker 4: on your skin, your bare skin?
- 6:40Speaker 2: Yeah, on my skin. But I will say this. I
- 6:43Speaker 2: always wear a T-shirt underneath it to soak up all
- 6:46Speaker 2: the filth.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Another T-shirt.
- 6:48Speaker 2: A clean T-shirt every day because you've got to have
- 6:50Speaker 2: a clean T-shirt every day. Wait, wait, wait.
- 6:52Speaker 3: So you've got a button-up long-sleeve shirt on. Yes.
- 6:55Speaker 4: A T-shirt under that.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:57Speaker 4: And a T-shirt under that.
- 6:59Speaker 2: No, just a T-shirt.
- 7:00Speaker 3: That's what he just said. Yeah, that is exactly what
- 7:02Speaker 3: he just said.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Oh, it's not what I meant.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. So I guess that's what's been a little
- 7:07Speaker 3: bit disorienting for me is that every single day, to
- 7:10Speaker 3: my eye, you're wearing exactly the same. Give or take.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Normally there's a Nike hoodie, there's some kind of other hoodie.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Yeah, a jacket, like a blazer.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true. The blazers come in. But you're talking
- 7:20Speaker 3: about specifically the shirt that is on the skin.
- 7:23Speaker 5: Yes.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Which oftentimes I don't even get to see.
- 7:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 3: So like for today, you're wearing the same one.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I'm just wondering, is that all, G, in terms of
- 7:32Speaker 2: your time scale?
- 7:33Speaker 3: In terms of hygiene.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Do you sniff it?
- 7:36Speaker 3: He can't help but. He can't help but.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Well, we all do that, don't we? We all go
- 7:40Speaker 2: through the laundry having a bit of a sniff. I mean,
- 7:44Speaker 2: that's what you do, isn't it? Oh, no, that needs a–
- 7:47Speaker 2: I mean, that's how you– No.
- 7:49Speaker 4: You smell it, and does it smell okay?
- 7:51Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Well, once I sprayed stuff on it.
- 7:55Speaker 3: What were you spraying on it? No, I wasn't. Come on, man.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Hey. But I'm curious, just on 348, just on 3483,
- 8:08Speaker 2: look at Pax, he's shaking his head.
- 8:10Speaker 4: How long can you wear a T-shirt for? Is that
- 8:12Speaker 4: what you're asking?
- 8:12Speaker 2: No, just in general, with all your clothes. I mean,
- 8:14Speaker 2: what are the time periods?
- 8:16Speaker 4: Okay, so in general, on 3483, what are the time
- 8:18Speaker 4: periods for all of your clothes?
- 8:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Text through now.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Can I just say, can we start with the T-shirts?
- 8:25Speaker 3: How many days can you wear it before a wash? Okay.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I personally think you're fine with two days, Jase. I
- 8:31Speaker 3: think you're good as... I think until it's... Visibly dirty
- 8:34Speaker 3: or it stinks. I think you're fine.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Or audibly, if it sounds gross. How big is the chest,
- 8:40Speaker 4: by the way?
- 8:41Speaker 2: The Japanese chest? Oh, it's about a metre by a metre. Wow.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:50Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 8:53Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Soundgarden there on the Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.
- 9:00Speaker 2: The time is 4.27 and we're talking clothes and how
- 9:02Speaker 2: long you can wear them for. You know, what's an
- 9:05Speaker 2: acceptable time period before you have to wash them? Now,
- 9:08Speaker 2: I had a shirt that I was wearing yesterday. I'd
- 9:10Speaker 2: only technically worn it for half a day. I looked
- 9:13Speaker 2: at it today and went, is it all G for
- 9:14Speaker 2: me to wear it today? I decided it was.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I think with a T-shirt, you have to smell it.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Because if it smells like BO, you get rid of it.
- 9:22Speaker 4: I would rather you had stains all down your shirt,
- 9:24Speaker 4: like Mogi often does, than it stank like BO.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? I don't think
- 9:31Speaker 3: either are good. But yours is fine with your T-shirt
- 9:33Speaker 3: because you cover it up with another shirt. Yeah, yeah.
- 9:36Speaker 3: And then a hoodie.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:37Speaker 2: You know? So it's like the filth is buried deep.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 9:41Speaker 4: The filth is within. So I'm happy with a T-shirt,
- 9:43Speaker 4: like two days, but you're going to sniff it.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Yeah, okay. What about three days and it still doesn't
- 9:47Speaker 3: stink and it's got no stains on it? Yeah, sure,
- 9:50Speaker 3: but you must have been doing nothing in it for
- 9:51Speaker 3: three days. What about eight days?
- 9:53Speaker 4: Nah, I think two. I'm going to write two days.
- 9:55Speaker 4: I think regardless, even if it smells OG on day three,
- 9:57Speaker 4: you've got to wash it.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Right, okay. I disagree.
- 9:59Speaker 3: I think you can go longer.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I don't want to get into a habit of, you know,
- 10:04Speaker 2: just on my hands and knees in the laundry sniffing
- 10:07Speaker 2: stuff every day. You know what I mean?
- 10:08Speaker 3: Not again.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Can we just... Go, okay, three days.
- 10:12Speaker 4: I'm not asking you to put all your laundry together
- 10:14Speaker 4: and then sniff it. I'm saying pull the shirt out,
- 10:16Speaker 4: sniff it. Okay, take it off.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Take it off and sniff it.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Sniff it. Does it need to go in the laundry?
- 10:21Speaker 4: No or yes.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Do you sniff it? I just take it off. I
- 10:23Speaker 3: just chuck it in. It's an instinct.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Yeah, okay.
- 10:26Speaker 4: But if it's a half-day situation like you, Jase, I
- 10:29Speaker 4: would sniff it and then go, oh, no, that's actually fine. Boom,
- 10:31Speaker 4: back in the drawer.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Because you've also got to take into account I walk
- 10:34Speaker 2: a Fast distances every day. So there's a bit of
- 10:37Speaker 2: heavy perspiration going on.
- 10:39Speaker 3: And you've got a general stink about.
- 10:40Speaker 2: You as well. Yeah, a general stink. You just do.
- 10:43Speaker 4: I think burn them.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Yes, good.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Now, another one here is undies. So a few people
- 10:49Speaker 4: have some opinions on this. Someone's text here saying you
- 10:52Speaker 4: change your undies when they make a Velcro sound when
- 10:54Speaker 4: you're taking them off.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Yeah, that's good.
- 10:56Speaker 4: That's how you know.
- 10:57Speaker 3: When it's time.
- 10:58Speaker 2: You're taking pubes with you when you remove them. Totally.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I just mean just because you're sweating and it's all
- 11:08Speaker 2: gross down there.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Yeah, we get it. Yeah, yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 4: So, honestly, undies, once they're off, even once, don't put
- 11:13Speaker 4: them back on.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Ever.
- 11:15Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Okay. Undies? Personally.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Just buy a new pack, like a five-pack of jockeys.
- 11:21Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, no, no. So, like, if you've
- 11:23Speaker 4: put your undies on for a few hours and then
- 11:24Speaker 4: you've had a shower, I'd put a fresh pair of
- 11:26Speaker 4: undies on.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Oh, would you?
- 11:28Speaker 4: Yeah, 100%.
- 11:29Speaker 3: So, what about, because there's... One for me would be
- 11:35Speaker 3: you come home from work, you have a shower.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Yes.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Then you put some undies on. Some freshies. It's only
- 11:40Speaker 3: for an hour or so before you go to bed.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Undies off.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:43Speaker 4: That's it, an hour or so.
- 11:45Speaker 3: What are we doing?
- 11:45Speaker 4: They're going back home the next day. If I was
- 11:47Speaker 4: in that situation, I wouldn't put undies on. I'd put
- 11:49Speaker 4: my home trackies on.
- 11:50Speaker 3: With commandos. Yeah, that's what I'd do. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:54Speaker 3: So that's disgusting.
- 11:56Speaker 2: That'd be disgusting.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Well, hang on.
- 11:57Speaker 4: What do you mean?
- 11:58Speaker 2: That'd be stinky as.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Okay, so with undies, once they're off.
- 12:01Speaker 3: How long do your Recon Commando trackies last for? Oh,
- 12:05Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever washed those. Socks, I think
- 12:11Speaker 3: sniff test. Socks are all about sniffing.
- 12:13Speaker 2: You've got this weird thing about sniffing laundry, Casey. It's
- 12:16Speaker 2: really freaking me out.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Do you smell like toe jams, yes or no?
- 12:21Speaker 3: Would you sniff them? See, for me, straight in the wash.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Yeah. To be honest, yes. But if you were iffy
- 12:28Speaker 4: on them, you'd bring it right up to your face
- 12:29Speaker 4: and then.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Yeah. Then you know.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Well, you wouldn't have to bring them too close to
- 12:34Speaker 2: your face, Keezy.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Why's that?
- 12:36Speaker 2: Well, because your snozz is so far away.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Good stuff, Jason. I'm glad I helped you out here, man.
- 12:41Speaker 3: This is good.
- 12:43Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Metallica there on the Hodaki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.
- 12:51Speaker 2: The time is 4.41.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Fellas, we've been running a little something here on the
- 12:56Speaker 3: Hauraki Big Show around the grand final, the NRL grand final.
- 13:00Speaker 3: The Warriors missed out. Yes. So we started talking about, well,
- 13:03Speaker 3: given the fact that 25% of tickets for the grand
- 13:06Speaker 3: final were owned by Warriors fans because they predicted that
- 13:09Speaker 3: we'd make the final, that incorrectly as it turned out,
- 13:12Speaker 3: we suggested that in order to make an impact on
- 13:14Speaker 3: the big day there that Warriors fans hold on to
- 13:17Speaker 3: their tickets and don't turn up so that 25% of
- 13:20Speaker 3: the stadium would remain empty. And that was, I think,
- 13:24Speaker 3: a mature approach to a situation none of us wanted. Well,
- 13:29Speaker 3: that was certainly my feeling. Until I watched the second
- 13:33Speaker 3: preliminary final over the weekend, Newcastle versus Penrith, in which
- 13:39Speaker 3: Ivan Cleary had his leg broken. Nathan Cleary. Sorry, Nathan Cleary.
- 13:43Speaker 3: A double compound fracture to his lower leg there. The
- 13:47Speaker 3: greatest player in the game gone for the remainder of
- 13:49Speaker 3: the season. His team bundled out playing against 12 men.
- 13:54Speaker 3: An inspired performance by Newcastle. The Knights who haven't been
- 13:58Speaker 3: in the grand final for some 25 years. And Newcastle
- 14:04Speaker 3: is a town which is, it's built on backbones.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Yes.
- 14:09Speaker 3: It's a mining town. It's a steel town. You know,
- 14:11Speaker 3: you get these guys that are going, you know, the
- 14:14Speaker 3: vast majority of the workers in that city, they go
- 14:16Speaker 3: underneath the town and Miles and miles and miles below,
- 14:20Speaker 3: digging up coal and all sorts of ore and minerals
- 14:24Speaker 3: in order to provide a living for their family. So
- 14:28Speaker 3: rugby league, it means a lot to them. They've got
- 14:32Speaker 3: their local clubs that they belong to. And they've also
- 14:36Speaker 3: got the Newcastle Knights. And that team has been going
- 14:38Speaker 3: through the doldrums for decades now, from bag coach to
- 14:42Speaker 3: bag coach, wooden spoon to wooden spoon. And so we
- 14:45Speaker 3: can sort of relate as Warriors fans because we've We've
- 14:48Speaker 3: been going pretty poor as well. Yeah. So at the
- 14:51Speaker 3: end of that game, during that game, to watch that
- 14:53Speaker 3: team put together the performance they did coming from seventh
- 14:56Speaker 3: place to beat the Warriors the week before and then
- 14:59Speaker 3: the Penrith Panthers who finished the year on top with
- 15:02Speaker 3: just 12 men shows a hell of a lot of guts.
- 15:05Speaker 3: And to give you an indication of what it meant
- 15:07Speaker 3: to people, here's a bit of audio from Matty Johns.
- 15:11Speaker 3: It cuts him after the game. I don't know.
- 15:14Speaker 6: To be honest, I don't know what to say. No,
- 15:21Speaker 6: but it was an unbelievable, incredible effort in that second half.
- 15:25Speaker 6: And I just feel so happy for all the fans.
- 15:30Speaker 6: They'd have put up with a lot of shit for
- 15:32Speaker 6: a lot of years to get back to where they
- 15:34Speaker 6: are now.
- 15:35Speaker 3: So that's Matty Johns. Matty Johns was in the last
- 15:37Speaker 3: team that won the grand final alongside his brother, Andrew Johns. And,
- 15:41Speaker 3: you know.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Watching that it made me emotional um you know and
- 15:46Speaker 3: so the idea that that i could deprive um you
- 15:50Speaker 3: know some kid from newcastle um whose old man works
- 15:54Speaker 3: bloody hard week in week out to not give him
- 15:57Speaker 3: an opportunity to get along to a game i think
- 15:59Speaker 3: right um was probably a little bit short-sighted on my
- 16:02Speaker 3: part um so you're gonna because you've got a ticket
- 16:06Speaker 3: and and and looking back on it now um I'm
- 16:10Speaker 3: a little bit ashamed of myself, actually, for taking that stance.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Wow.
- 16:17Speaker 3: And so I've got a pair of tickets, and yeah,
- 16:20Speaker 3: I'll be obviously making those available to a couple of
- 16:24Speaker 3: fans of the Newcastle Knights.
- 16:25Speaker 4: You're going to give the tickets away?
- 16:26Speaker 3: That's amazing. I won't be giving them away, Keezy. I've
- 16:29Speaker 3: got them on the side over there. They're up to
- 16:31Speaker 3: 10 grand now. Just the thought of what that money
- 16:36Speaker 3: can do for me. I work bloody hard. I work
- 16:44Speaker 3: so hard.
- 16:45Speaker 4: You don't work that hard. Jase, are you going to
- 16:49Speaker 4: say it?
- 16:51Speaker 2: Say what, man?
- 16:52Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Kekaha, Logie.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Yeah, kekaha.
- 16:55Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 16:59Speaker 2: She had there on the Hodaki Big Show this, what
- 17:03Speaker 2: day is it? Tuesday. The time is 4.53. Let's talk TV.
- 17:09Speaker 2: What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Yeah!
- 17:17Speaker 2: That's right.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Well, fellas, fellas, fellas. I don't think I've talked about this,
- 17:22Speaker 3: but I've watched the first two episodes of the new
- 17:24Speaker 3: season of Slow Horses.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Have I told you about this? It's a new season. Yes.
- 17:29Speaker 3: It's got Gary Oldman as the head of a bunch
- 17:32Speaker 3: of sort of British spies that have done bad things elsewhere,
- 17:36Speaker 3: and now they're in this place called Slow House. It's
- 17:39Speaker 3: our house. And they're not allowed to have anything to
- 17:42Speaker 3: do with anything, but somehow they always seem to find
- 17:44Speaker 3: themselves in the middle of every terrorist attack that happens
- 17:47Speaker 3: in London, which seems to be one every, well, certainly
- 17:50Speaker 3: one every season. So probably one every two months. It's
- 17:55Speaker 3: really good. It's really good. He's very, very funny yet again.
- 17:58Speaker 3: He's a real down-and-out sort of scumbag. But it's got,
- 18:01Speaker 3: same as last season, it's got a terrible B story
- 18:04Speaker 3: in it, a terrible storyline in it, which is just
- 18:06Speaker 3: completely unbelievable. Unbelievable. And really annoying. So for that reason,
- 18:10Speaker 3: I'm going to give it three. It's still, you've got
- 18:11Speaker 3: to watch it, though. It's still the best. It's on
- 18:13Speaker 3: Apple TV. It's on Apple TV. You should watch it, Jase.
- 18:16Speaker 3: You simply must. Three and a half buzzies out of
- 18:17Speaker 3: a possible five buzzies. The other seasons, last season was
- 18:20Speaker 3: three and a half. The rest of them are five buzzies.
- 18:22Speaker 4: What's an example of a terrible B story in a
- 18:25Speaker 4: famous show?
- 18:26Speaker 2: Oh.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Or is it something that is?
- 18:27Speaker 2: It'll be something romantic or, you know.
- 18:30Speaker 3: You know what? Well, generally what they'll do is they'll
- 18:32Speaker 3: run out of ideas. So generally what they'll do is
- 18:34Speaker 3: they'll bring in a kid. Right. So now there's a
- 18:36Speaker 3: kid in it. Somebody has a kid or it turns
- 18:38Speaker 3: out someone's got a long lost brother. So you bring
- 18:40Speaker 3: in this new character. He's real cheeky.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Right.
- 18:43Speaker 3: And he's just now he's ruining the show that I
- 18:45Speaker 3: used to love because who's that kid? I've watched six seasons.
- 18:47Speaker 3: That kid was never here before. Get him out. Scooby-Doo
- 18:50Speaker 3: did it with Scrappy-Doo. Oh, yeah, true.
- 18:53Speaker 4: People hate Scrappy-Doo.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Absolutely hate Scrappy-Doo, and for good reason.
- 18:56Speaker 4: He always tries to fight everyone.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Yeah, come on, come on.
- 18:58Speaker 2: We did try and watch it the other day, but
- 19:00Speaker 2: our continuing debacle with Prime Video continues.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Isn't it Apple TV?
- 19:05Speaker 2: It would be annoying because it's on Apple TV. It
- 19:07Speaker 2: is on Apple, but that's through Prime that we get it.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Oh.
- 19:11Speaker 2: And it was like, I was trying to figure it out,
- 19:14Speaker 2: and then my wife was like, oh, no, it's under
- 19:16Speaker 2: my name. So we went into that. It's a point
- 19:19Speaker 2: of sale bloody thing that we're paying. It's like, how
- 19:22Speaker 2: is it a point of sale? Isn't it an automatic payment?
- 19:25Speaker 2: Where is this account? scanning codes, all sorts. It was
- 19:30Speaker 2: just ridiculous.
- 19:32Speaker 3: You're like a spy as well. You're like James Bond
- 19:34Speaker 3: with all your codes and all your passwords and all
- 19:37Speaker 3: your secrets.
- 19:38Speaker 2: It was infuriating. It was like, how does this work?
- 19:40Speaker 2: But anyway.
- 19:41Speaker 3: You're trying to crack codes, but you can't.
- 19:43Speaker 2: I continue watching the fourth series of Monster, the Lizzie
- 19:47Speaker 2: Borden story, sort of mass murder. kind of scenario. I'm
- 19:51Speaker 2: always fascinated quite often with these murderous types. It all
- 19:56Speaker 2: starts with a very illicit relationship where the person is
- 20:01Speaker 2: coerced into, oh, look.
- 20:04Speaker 3: You know what would be good.
- 20:05Speaker 2: You know what would be good. They're really rich. And
- 20:08Speaker 2: if they're not here anymore, you would inherit $ 200, 000. So
- 20:14Speaker 2: why don't, you know.
- 20:15Speaker 4: That sort of stuff.
- 20:16Speaker 3: That's why they've got it in the Ten Commandments, Jase,
- 20:19Speaker 3: that you should, I think it might be, it's definitely
- 20:21Speaker 3: in the top ten commandments. It might be seven or eight. Don't,
- 20:26Speaker 3: never covet thy neighbor's ass. Yeah, yeah. Don't covet it, Keezy,
- 20:31Speaker 3: because this is the sort of thing that happens.
- 20:33Speaker 4: Sorry, isn't it don't covet thy wife? Wouldn't it just
- 20:35Speaker 4: be thou.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Shalt not kill? No, no, those neighbour's ass. Yeah. Have
- 20:40Speaker 3: you not heard that before, Keezy? We probably should need
- 20:43Speaker 3: to go through the Ten Commandments to you, Keezy, because
- 20:46Speaker 3: I worry about you. Because I could see you standing there.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Coveting my neighbour's ass.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Coveting your neighbour's ass there.
- 20:53Speaker 4: My neighbour is a 75-year-old Singaporean man.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Not good.
- 20:59Speaker 4: And I'm not joking.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Well, I've been to your house, of course, for your dinner.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Yeah, you've seen him. He's caked up.
- 21:04Speaker 2: You've got lots of neighbours all over the shop.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I know.
- 21:08Speaker 2: It's really built up around there.
- 21:09Speaker 4: You live in an apartment in town, right? For Christ's sake.
- 21:15Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show, with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in,
- 21:19Speaker 1: weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Welcome back, you massive bank bones. Hope you're surviving your
- 21:24Speaker 2: Tuesday afternoon. You are, in fact, listening to The Big Show,
- 21:27Speaker 2: brought to you by Re-Burger.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that'll change the game.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Re-Burger! Yeah, great stuff. I tell you what, actually, I
- 21:39Speaker 2: got a bit nostalgic there for a while. Fellas with
- 21:42Speaker 2: old Bryn. I miss Bryn not coming into the studio
- 21:45Speaker 2: with us.
- 21:46Speaker 3: You really love him, eh?
- 21:47Speaker 4: Are you talking about Bryn Rudkin, the newsreader who did
- 21:50Speaker 4: Breakfast with us?
- 21:51Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:52Speaker 2: He's a sweet young fellow, isn't he? He's a very
- 21:55Speaker 2: kind young man.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I don't know if he's kind. He might be an a-hole.
- 21:59Speaker 4: He's a massive a-hole.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Is he really?
- 22:01Speaker 4: 100% Bryn Rudkin.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Shock and burst.
- 22:04Speaker 4: So he's one of those baby face assassins.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he creates this image. And it's
- 22:11Speaker 2: all a facade, is that what you're saying?
- 22:13Speaker 4: Massively.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Okay, yeah.
- 22:15Speaker 4: But you can poke holes in it pretty easily.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Right, okay.
- 22:17Speaker 4: You find out his private life is actually.
- 22:19Speaker 3: A bit of a shambles.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I don't judge people for that, Keezy.
- 22:22Speaker 3: You should.
- 22:23Speaker 2: You know what I mean? He was nothing but a
- 22:25Speaker 2: professional when he came in the studio with us.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Oh, there were some moments there.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Oh, well, I guess so. Actually, now that you think,
- 22:31Speaker 2: I think about it.
- 22:32Speaker 4: He slapped Pugson.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. Yeah. God, he did too. Hey, I'll
- 22:36Speaker 2: tell you what, coming up, we've got a bit of
- 22:38Speaker 2: travel chat because as Mogi alluded to earlier, old Keezy
- 22:41Speaker 2: and Horty J going away for a couple of weeks.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Next week onwards.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 22:46Speaker 3: I'm going to Japan. Jase, you're going to Aussie. Yeah.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Bert and Ernie. Bert and Ernie.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:50Speaker 4: And I thought it'd be interesting if we travel our
- 22:53Speaker 4: sort of, compare our travel styles.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Yeah, sure.
- 22:56Speaker 4: You know what I mean? Because there's a lot of
- 22:57Speaker 4: admin that goes into planning a trip and I have
- 22:59Speaker 4: a feeling we've got different Yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Well, you're very, very anal, aren't you?
- 23:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 2: What?
- 23:07Speaker 3: Very.
- 23:09Speaker 4: No, I'm chill. Whatever goes, man. I'm happy with.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Have you got a window like a couple of hours
- 23:14Speaker 3: each day over in Japan to have fun?
- 23:17Speaker 4: Not on the first day.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Here's red hot chilli peppers.
- 23:24Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Gage the Elephant there on the Hauraki Big Show this
- 23:31Speaker 2: Tuesday afternoon. The time is 5.13. Now, obviously, Keezy and
- 23:36Speaker 2: I are going to be away for a couple of weeks.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Starting next week, Mogi. Since when? Why, did you not
- 23:43Speaker 2: know that? Well, it's good that you know now, I guess.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:47Speaker 4: We were going to tell you tomorrow.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, were we?
- 23:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 2: All right.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Great.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Yeah, cool.
- 23:52Speaker 4: That's all right.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Where are you going? Where are you going, Keezy?
- 23:54Speaker 4: I'm going to Japan. Hoity J's going to Australia.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Again. He loves it.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Wow. We're doing a roadie this time, which I'm very
- 24:03Speaker 2: excited about. Mind you, with the price of petrol, what
- 24:07Speaker 2: were we thinking?
- 24:09Speaker 3: Am I right? It's good over there. I've done quite
- 24:11Speaker 3: a few roadies in Australia, Jase. You're going to love it.
- 24:14Speaker 3: because the roads are just dead straight for about $ 1, 000. Yeah,
- 24:17Speaker 3: so I hear.
- 24:18Speaker 2: I tell you who's really going to love it, my
- 24:20Speaker 2: 18-year-old daughter. Yeah. It's going to be good. Hey, but
- 24:24Speaker 2: good news. Yes. Good news, because, you know, I can
- 24:27Speaker 2: be a little bit chaotic when it comes to sort
- 24:29Speaker 2: of travel and that sort of stuff. It's all kind
- 24:31Speaker 2: of new to me. I haven't done a lot of travel.
- 24:33Speaker 2: But you'll be proud of me. I sorted my eSIM
- 24:36Speaker 2: card last night. Yeah, right.
- 24:38Speaker 4: So eSIM card.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:41Speaker 4: So an eSIM, if you don't know, is instead of
- 24:43Speaker 4: putting a SIM card into your phone, you get a
- 24:45Speaker 4: digital version. And then as soon as you land, you
- 24:47Speaker 4: can just flick a little switch there in your phone.
- 24:49Speaker 2: You toggle.
- 24:50Speaker 4: You toggle it on.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Boom.
- 24:52Speaker 4: And you've got data in whichever country you're in.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:55Speaker 4: So you've got it. It's on your phone all set up.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, no, I've got to– this is the one
- 25:00Speaker 2: thing I'm nervous about because apparently they've got to send
- 25:02Speaker 2: the chip up from Wellington.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Yeah. Wait, so hang on.
- 25:06Speaker 2: And I'm going on Sunday– So hopefully, Mogi. Yeah. You'd
- 25:10Speaker 2: think in this day and age, wouldn't you, with the
- 25:12Speaker 2: technology that we have that would be available in Auckland,
- 25:14Speaker 2: I could just go and pick the chip up.
- 25:16Speaker 4: No, totally. So they're shipping you an eSIM.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Yes. Well, courier. So I'm just hoping that.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Not by ship. From Korea.
- 25:25Speaker 2: You can't say... Oh, I suppose you could sail down
- 25:27Speaker 2: the coast there, but that would take forever.
- 25:29Speaker 4: Wait, so it's coming from Korea?
- 25:31Speaker 2: No, it's been couriered from Wellington up to... Right, okay.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Just because the whole point of an eSIM is that
- 25:37Speaker 4: it's digital. You don't actually need to ship anything.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Oh, it totally will be once I plug it into
- 25:42Speaker 2: my phone.
- 25:45Speaker 4: Right, I've got my eSIM set up as well. $ 80
- 25:48Speaker 4: for two weeks' worth of data over there. I think
- 25:50Speaker 4: 20 gigs.
- 25:51Speaker 2: How much?
- 25:51Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
- 25:52Speaker 4: $ 80 for 20 gigs?
- 25:53Speaker 3: That's about right.
- 25:55Speaker 4: $ 80? How much did you pay?
- 25:55Speaker 2: Well, $ 750. $ 750? Yeah, for five days, unlimited data.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Unlimited data?
- 26:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:02Speaker 4: How long are you going for?
- 26:03Speaker 2: Is that bad? Is it $ 750?
- 26:05Speaker 4: Yeah, but you've got it for five days. How long
- 26:07Speaker 4: are you going for? $ 11. And how much was shipping?
- 26:11Speaker 2: Well, the shipping's about $ 180. Which, again, you'd go, well,
- 26:16Speaker 2: hang on.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Surely, I mean, it's only a tiny little chip that
- 26:19Speaker 2: you poke into your phone.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Is it just my imagination or is an ESA meant
- 26:23Speaker 3: to be, it's not physical at all. No, it's digital.
- 26:26Speaker 3: It's just a digital. Yeah, yeah. So I don't know
- 26:28Speaker 3: what they're shipping you, Jase.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:30Speaker 4: You know what they'll do? They'll be shipping you a
- 26:32Speaker 4: QR code.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 26:33Speaker 4: And then you'll scan that and then that'll put it
- 26:35Speaker 4: on your phone.
- 26:35Speaker 2: I don't know if I can scan QR code, but okay, yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Well, they'll probably sell you, the same company will probably
- 26:41Speaker 3: sell you one of those QR code scanners.
- 26:43Speaker 4: You just plug it into your phone and then scan it.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Well, funny you should say that. I loaded one of
- 26:47Speaker 2: those bastards up last night.
- 26:49Speaker 4: How good?
- 26:50Speaker 2: How much was that?
- 26:53Speaker 3: $ 125.
- 26:55Speaker 4: The other good thing, too, I'm glad to hear you
- 26:57Speaker 4: got your data sorted, is that Aussie and Japan both,
- 26:59Speaker 4: you don't need a visa or anything.
- 27:01Speaker 3: You don't?
- 27:03Speaker 4: No, Aussie definitely doesn't need a visa.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Well, what was I paying for then?
- 27:07Speaker 4: Well, how much was it?
- 27:09Speaker 2: It was $ 480 for three of us.
- 27:13Speaker 3: That's not bad.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I thought. I thought, bloody hell.
- 27:17Speaker 4: What were you comparing it to?
- 27:18Speaker 3: But a day per day.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:22Speaker 4: For an Australian visa.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but for three of us.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Yeah, for three of us.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:28Speaker 2: She's not cheap, the old travel aid fellas.
- 27:30Speaker 3: I'll tell you what, you're better off staying home sometimes.
- 27:34Speaker 2: I've got to be honest with you, there's times I
- 27:35Speaker 2: did think that.
- 27:37Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 27:40Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 27:42Speaker 2: The darkness there on the Hodaki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon,
- 27:47Speaker 2: the time 25 minutes past 5 o'clock.
- 27:50Speaker 4: We're talking holidays, fellas, and this morning I got a
- 27:53Speaker 4: WhatsApp message from one of my hotels that I.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Booked during my time in Japan.
- 27:59Speaker 4: So for this particular hotel, I used a Japanese sort
- 28:04Speaker 4: of version of booking.com.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Right?
- 28:07Speaker 3: Okay.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Because they had better deals on hotels in the area.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Well, that makes sense.
- 28:11Speaker 4: So I was like, oh. Because they've probably got the contacts.
- 28:13Speaker 4: They've got the contacts. They've got people on the ground.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Yes.
- 28:16Speaker 2: They're like, I'll look after you, Casey.
- 28:19Speaker 4: That's right. So this particular hotel was like, I think
- 28:22Speaker 4: it was double the price on booking or something like
- 28:25Speaker 4: that through this Japanese app, which is a very, like
- 28:28Speaker 4: I checked everything. It was, I think it was like
- 28:31Speaker 4: half price almost.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Wow. That's a hell of a saving.
- 28:34Speaker 4: It's 50% saving almost.
- 28:36Speaker 3: It's up to 50%.
- 28:39Speaker 2: In that scenario, fellas, I'd immediately be wary.
- 28:43Speaker 3: I don't think you would be. I think you would
- 28:45Speaker 3: be a sucker.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Well, no, but no, I wouldn't.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Brazil, you're a sucker for a deal. This isn't the scam. Oh, okay.
- 28:52Speaker 3: This is not the scam.
- 28:53Speaker 4: This is a genuine booking platform that had a special
- 28:55Speaker 4: deal on to encourage visitors to come to Japan during
- 28:59Speaker 4: this certain time of year.
- 29:00Speaker 3: And so I was, oh, sweet.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Yeah, 100% did that.
- 29:02Speaker 3: It's great.
- 29:02Speaker 4: Really nice hotel. Best hotel of the trip, actually. I
- 29:05Speaker 4: got a message this morning on WhatsApp being like, hey,
- 29:07Speaker 4: like fully legit. It looks full blown, fully as legit as.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Full blown. Okay.
- 29:15Speaker 4: It says, hello, here are the details of your booking,
- 29:19Speaker 4: name of the property, your arrival date, your departure date,
- 29:22Speaker 4: your booking reference, action required. Please review and validate your
- 29:26Speaker 4: booking using the link below. No payment will be charged
- 29:29Speaker 4: and any temporary authorization is immediately released. You will then
- 29:33Speaker 4: pay at the property.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Sure. Well, that sounds like there's no red flags because
- 29:37Speaker 3: they're saying there's no payment details, right?
- 29:39Speaker 2: No, no.
- 29:40Speaker 4: It says, then you follow the link there, and it says,
- 29:43Speaker 4: please complete within 24 hours, otherwise the room may be
- 29:46Speaker 4: made available to other guests. And it says, thank you,
- 29:48Speaker 4: the full name of the hotel.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:51Speaker 4: And I was just like, I went into it, and
- 29:52Speaker 4: then it sends you to a booking.com page, a legit one.
- 29:54Speaker 4: And then it's like, and then the reason, the sort
- 29:57Speaker 4: of thing that pricked my ears up and my eyes-
- 30:00Speaker 4: was the price was wrong. It was too much. And
- 30:02Speaker 4: I was like, hang on, what happened to my little
- 30:04Speaker 4: juicy discount there? So I messaged him back being like, no,
- 30:07Speaker 4: the price is wrong. Didn't hear back for ages. And
- 30:09Speaker 4: then I sort of copied the link, put it into
- 30:10Speaker 4: private browsing mode.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:15Speaker 4: On my phone there. And then it came up with like,
- 30:18Speaker 4: this website is untrusted, blah, blah, blah, blah. So I
- 30:20Speaker 4: did some snooping around and some Googling.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Yeah, snooping.
- 30:22Speaker 4: And it's like, There's a whole Reddit discussion on look
- 30:25Speaker 4: out for, there was a few data breaches of quite
- 30:29Speaker 4: a few places. And this booking company was one of them.
- 30:32Speaker 4: And I think it's happened to booking.com and a few
- 30:34Speaker 4: others as well. And they had access to all the
- 30:36Speaker 4: details of my trip.
- 30:37Speaker 3: That's a great scam. We should get into that, Jay. Yeah.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Well, you see, I'm just thinking, I'm looking through it
- 30:43Speaker 2: and thinking about.
- 30:43Speaker 3: It, Keezy.
- 30:44Speaker 2: In that situation, what would Horty J do? You know,
- 30:47Speaker 2: they come back and it's like, oh, hang on, that's
- 30:49Speaker 2: a bit more than actually what the deal was. I'd
- 30:53Speaker 2: be inclined to pay it. Because then I'd be like, oh,
- 30:57Speaker 2: it's obviously legit because they're charging me more.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right. If Jason knows he's getting done, he's in.
- 31:03Speaker 3: So you know it's legit when you're paying. When he's
- 31:06Speaker 3: getting ripped.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Yes.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Well, this is the thing I found because, you know,
- 31:10Speaker 2: we've booked a lot of places through Airbnb.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Yes.
- 31:14Speaker 2: You know, and a lot of the time it's for
- 31:16Speaker 2: two nights, right? But they insist that apparently it's the
- 31:20Speaker 2: policy that you have to pay for 10 nights and
- 31:24Speaker 2: then they refund you the eight nights that you're not there.
- 31:28Speaker 2: And I was like, well, you know, that annoys me,
- 31:31Speaker 2: to be fair. I mean, I'll pay it, obviously.
- 31:33Speaker 4: I've never ever come across that, and I've come across
- 31:35Speaker 4: a lot while travelling. And I've never come across that.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 2: For Air D & B? What?
- 31:47Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 31:51Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Blink 182 there on the Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.
- 31:57Speaker 2: The time is 5.37. Now we've teamed up with our
- 32:00Speaker 2: mates at Emerson's, haven't we fellas? And we need you
- 32:03Speaker 2: to name our bear.
- 32:07Speaker 3: I think I'll have myself a beer.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Big Show.
- 32:12Speaker 1: The Radio Hodaki Big Show. Name our beer.
- 32:15Speaker 3: That's right, fellas.
- 32:16Speaker 4: The brand new beer is a tropical hazy IPA. It's
- 32:19Speaker 4: to celebrate the Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 32:23Speaker 4: Emerson's, of course, always there. The Big Show involved as
- 32:26Speaker 4: well the last few years. Will we be down there again?
- 32:29Speaker 3: Oh, will we? Probs.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Huh.
- 32:32Speaker 4: So far, a lot of suggestions have come through on 3483.
- 32:35Speaker 4: It's the name of this beer. Every text in the
- 32:37Speaker 4: drawer for an Emerson's hoodie. We've got a whole heap
- 32:39Speaker 4: of them.
- 32:39Speaker 3: I've been looking forward to this, man. I've been looking
- 32:41Speaker 3: forward to this because every day we get new names
- 32:42Speaker 3: that have been texted through 3483 and there's some belters
- 32:46Speaker 3: in there. Always.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Without fail.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Without fail.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Before we read some texts and keep them coming, 3483,
- 32:50Speaker 4: if you'd like an Emerson's hoodie, let's go to the
- 32:52Speaker 4: lines there.
- 32:53Speaker 2: G'day, Liam, you mad bastard.
- 32:55Speaker 3: How's life? Oh, good evening, fellas. Going good? Yeah.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Hey, tell me, Liam, what do you do for a crust?
- 33:01Speaker 2: I'm a baker.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Ah, bake bone.
- 33:04Speaker 3: What time are you getting up in the morning there, sicko?
- 33:08Speaker 2: Oh, three, but as of this week, it feels like two. Oh, yeah,
- 33:13Speaker 2: it would do, man.
- 33:14Speaker 3: It would.
- 33:15Speaker 2: What's your specialty there, Liam? Is there anything that stands
- 33:18Speaker 2: out from the pack?
- 33:20Speaker 3: Yeah, still making pies and doughnuts. Oh, of course. Oh, mate. Yeah, yes.
- 33:24Speaker 3: What's your favourite doughnut, sicko?
- 33:27Speaker 2: Oh, probably just a classic Nutella or something like that.
- 33:30Speaker 3: Yum, man. Nutella. Classic Nutella.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Inside a donut.
- 33:33Speaker 3: That's pretty standard. Never heard of that. Never heard of that.
- 33:36Speaker 3: When was the last time? How long have you guys
- 33:37Speaker 3: known about that? You haven't told me that.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Oh, we got a press release the other day about it.
- 33:43Speaker 4: Everyone's in on it. Hey, Liam, what would you like
- 33:45Speaker 4: to name our beer, man?
- 33:47Speaker 2: Oh, I had a couple. The Big Spring Kegger.
- 33:50Speaker 4: Big Spring Kegger, right.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Yes.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Or Six Out of Ten.
- 33:56Speaker 4: Oh, it's a six out of ten. Ah, six out
- 33:58Speaker 4: of ten.
- 33:59Speaker 2: I like that.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not bad. That's pretty good, man. That's actually
- 34:02Speaker 3: not bad, man.
- 34:03Speaker 4: That is actually not bad.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Well, look, we've had some absolute rippers across the desk,
- 34:11Speaker 3: haven't we? So that one there, it's all the praise
- 34:14Speaker 3: I can give you, man, to say I don't hate it. Boom.
- 34:18Speaker 3: There you go.
- 34:20Speaker 4: Rumour has it that's what Moggy said on his wedding day. Right.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Hey, Liam, what time do you go to bed at night?
- 34:28Speaker 2: Just whenever I fall asleep, Jase.
- 34:30Speaker 3: What time do you normally fall asleep, man?
- 34:33Speaker 1: Anywhere between maybe 5 and 10.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:38Speaker 3: Wow.
- 34:39Speaker 4: So he's in bed right now listening to us. Have
- 34:41Speaker 4: you got your jammies on, Liam?
- 34:43Speaker 2: No, not yet.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Yeah, get on your backbone. Do you like baking brownies? Yeah,
- 34:49Speaker 3: brownie cookie.
- 34:51Speaker 4: This is good stuff. Hey, Liam, we've talked to you
- 34:53Speaker 4: for approximately three minutes, mate.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Congrats.
- 34:55Speaker 4: We're going to give you an Emerson's hoodie, all right?
- 34:57Speaker 2: How does that sound?
- 34:58Speaker 3: Thanks, fellas. What a failure. No worries.
- 35:01Speaker 4: Yeah, it's an absolute ripper. Do you want me to
- 35:04Speaker 4: read some texts there, fellas?
- 35:05Speaker 2: Yeah, go on, Liam.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Hard on hazy.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Sorry, what? Oh, is this the names?
- 35:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:13Speaker 4: Hazy hooah.
- 35:15Speaker 3: It's a hazy hoover. I like that.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Yeah, not bad.
- 35:17Speaker 3: That's good.
- 35:18Speaker 4: This one from yesterday. Hoppy birthday, Honka. It's sort of
- 35:22Speaker 4: a birthday message for you, Honka. And also... Because that's
- 35:27Speaker 4: your new name.
- 35:28Speaker 3: Yeah, cool.
- 35:30Speaker 4: Tony's Tonic. Beer Wounder Whiz. Froth Pot. Hot Suck Daboos.
- 35:39Speaker 4: Hoda Keezy Steamer. The Rogue Stallion. The Rogue Stallion.
- 35:45Speaker 2: What was Liam's one? Sex.
- 35:48Speaker 3: Sex out of tin.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Out of tin, yeah.
- 35:50Speaker 4: Keep those sex coming. 3483 if you'd like to win
- 35:52Speaker 4: yourself an Emerson's hoodie. Tomorrow's your last day.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Here's to Linkin Park.
- 36:00Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 36:04Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Jane's Addiction there on the Hodaki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.
- 36:11Speaker 2: The time is 5.48. And fellas, just between the three
- 36:14Speaker 2: of us, I had a bit of a an odd
- 36:15Speaker 2: experience over the weekend. You know how it is sometimes
- 36:20Speaker 2: when you meet your workmates outside of the workplace? It's
- 36:22Speaker 2: a bit weird.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't like it.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of odd. But anyway, you'll recall the
- 36:28Speaker 2: fact probably that old Pugsan has been house-sitting for my father-in-law.
- 36:34Speaker 3: Which is a weird setup. Very weird.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:36Speaker 4: If I was a listener right now, I'd be like, what?
- 36:38Speaker 3: How does that happen? I didn't recall that. I can
- 36:39Speaker 3: understand how it's sitting for you or, you know, your father-in-law. Like,
- 36:43Speaker 3: what is the connection there?
- 36:44Speaker 2: Well, he's actually met my father-in-law before, and my father-in-law
- 36:48Speaker 2: was taken with Pagsan and his lovely partner, too, and
- 36:53Speaker 2: thought they were lovely people. And they're going overseas for
- 36:55Speaker 2: a long time, so they went. How would Pugsarn be
- 36:58Speaker 2: looking after the joint? I said he's a very responsible guy.
- 37:02Speaker 3: I guess the curious thing about it from my point
- 37:04Speaker 3: of view is given the age of your father-in-law, sure
- 37:07Speaker 3: he's got dozens of people that make more sense than Pugs.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it was weird. But anyway, so I messaged him
- 37:16Speaker 2: on Sunday morning because- Who, Pugs? Pugs, because we borrowed
- 37:20Speaker 2: some of my father-in-law's deck chairs for our come dine
- 37:23Speaker 2: with me experience.
- 37:24Speaker 4: Oh, I didn't know that. You're not allowed to do that.
- 37:26Speaker 4: I'm going to have to mark it out.
- 37:28Speaker 2: And anyway, I texted Pugs at about 10 in the
- 37:30Speaker 2: morning and I said, hey, mate, hope you're all good. Listen,
- 37:34Speaker 2: my wife and I, we've just got to drop a
- 37:35Speaker 2: few deck chairs off at my father-in-law's place just to
- 37:40Speaker 2: return them.
- 37:40Speaker 3: That was months ago.
- 37:42Speaker 2: And he went- Oh, okay. And then there was like
- 37:46Speaker 2: a 10-minute gap between sort of, and I went, is
- 37:50Speaker 2: that all G? And he went, yeah, what time you thinking?
- 37:56Speaker 2: And I went, oh, you know, probably about half an
- 37:58Speaker 2: hour or so.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Right, so 10.30-ish.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm getting kind of. weird vibes already and
- 38:04Speaker 2: i said about half an hour and he went oh.
- 38:06Speaker 3: But he's pretty kooky anyway yeah he is a bit
- 38:08Speaker 3: kooky and he went i get bad vibes most times.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Yeah yeah and it was like yeah okay man i
- 38:13Speaker 2: said look we don't have to come inside man we're
- 38:15Speaker 2: not gonna we don't have to have coffee or anything
- 38:17Speaker 2: is that oh no that's all g.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Yeah knowing him he'd want you to come inside and.
- 38:22Speaker 2: So i turn up there and i kid you not
- 38:25Speaker 2: it's 10 30 in the grabbing these chairs up to
- 38:30Speaker 2: the deck there. Old Pugson comes out the slider in
- 38:33Speaker 2: his lava lava. And I'm like, oh, g'day, Pugson. And,
- 38:38Speaker 2: you know, he had the beard here.
- 38:40Speaker 3: The beard hair.
- 38:41Speaker 2: No, the bed hair.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Oh, beard hair. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:44Speaker 2: How you going, mate? Oh, yeah, yeah. And I could
- 38:46Speaker 2: hear this sort of jazz.
- 38:46Speaker 4: So he was just in a lava lava, shirtless?
- 38:48Speaker 2: Yeah, shirtless, just in a lava lava. And I could
- 38:51Speaker 2: hear this sort of jazzy music in the background.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:54Speaker 2: I was like, oh, sort of craned around and had
- 38:57Speaker 2: a little look there. And there was about 20 or
- 38:59Speaker 2: 25 people in the joint. And I was like, oh,
- 39:04Speaker 2: you got to be having a bit of a party
- 39:07Speaker 2: or something, mate. He was like, no, no, no, no,
- 39:08Speaker 2: just got some friends over. And he said, do you
- 39:11Speaker 2: want to come in? And I went, oh, no, it's
- 39:12Speaker 2: all a bit weird, actually. Yeah, a lot of people, yeah.
- 39:16Speaker 4: What were they wearing?
- 39:17Speaker 2: Well, this was the thing. It had like pool party vibes.
- 39:21Speaker 4: Does he have a pool?
- 39:22Speaker 2: No, there's no pool. There's like a goldfish pond. And
- 39:25Speaker 2: everyone was wearing just sort of lava. It was very.
- 39:28Speaker 4: They were all wearing lava lavas.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Well, you know, just to be honest, a lot of
- 39:35Speaker 2: them weren't wearing much. They were just sort of lounging
- 39:38Speaker 2: around on the couches and stuff and, you know.
- 39:42Speaker 3: Were there any sarongs? Were they wearing sarongs?
- 39:44Speaker 4: Or were they specifically lava lava?
- 39:46Speaker 2: No, I'll tell you what there was, though. There was
- 39:48Speaker 2: one guy wearing like a sumo pants, you know, like
- 39:52Speaker 2: a sumo.
- 39:52Speaker 4: Like the G-banger thing.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Yeah, like a G-banger thing, but it was.
- 39:56Speaker 4: Was he a big unit?
- 39:57Speaker 2: Oh, no, he was only a little fella, but it
- 40:00Speaker 2: really puffed him out a bit. A lot of topless
- 40:02Speaker 2: guys there, I've got to say.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 40:04Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, a bit of a party.
- 40:06Speaker 4: Any females there?
- 40:08Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, there were quite a few women there as well.
- 40:10Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 40:12Speaker 2: It was just very. very, very weird.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Did it give you, what's the guts? Is it making
- 40:17Speaker 3: you feel a bit crook?
- 40:18Speaker 2: Yeah, ick.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it gave you the ick?
- 40:20Speaker 2: It gave me the ick a little bit, you know
- 40:22Speaker 2: what I mean? But I was like, anyway, do you
- 40:24Speaker 2: mind if we grab a couple of tangelos off the tree? Tangelo.
- 40:29Speaker 2: And he was like, oh, yeah, no, fill your boots, mate,
- 40:32Speaker 2: fill your boots.
- 40:32Speaker 3: He said fill your boots.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Yeah, he said fill your boots.
- 40:34Speaker 3: You always say that. Fill your boots, yeah.
- 40:36Speaker 2: And he went, oh, that's good on you, pugs. And
- 40:40Speaker 2: then as I was walking off, he gave me the old, Really?
- 40:43Speaker 4: He winked at you? He did the noise that you make.
- 40:46Speaker 2: And then he said, hey, hoody J. This is just
- 40:48Speaker 2: between me and you, right?
- 40:50Speaker 4: Did he say mum's the word?
- 40:51Speaker 2: Well, no, he just went. Oh, okay.
- 40:55Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 40:59Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 41:01Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Hope your Tuesday night is absolutely going off. The time
- 41:06Speaker 2: is nearly bang on 6 o'clock and you are listening
- 41:09Speaker 2: to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburger.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Crave-worthy.
- 41:19Speaker 3: Good stuff.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Hey, Mogi, what did you have for din-dins last night?
- 41:26Speaker 3: Tacos. Oh, tacos.
- 41:27Speaker 5: A little cheesy tacos with beans, melted cheese on that
- 41:33Speaker 5: one there, Keezy, a pickled red onion, which I'm a
- 41:37Speaker 5: big fan of, with a little bit of.
- 41:38Speaker 3: Radicchio as well. What's that, radish? Yeah. And a little
- 41:45Speaker 3: bit of avo, a little bit of this, a little
- 41:46Speaker 3: bit of that. It was bloody nice.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Is avo avocado?
- 41:48Speaker 3: It stands for avocado. Avocado. I guess you would call
- 41:52Speaker 3: it abbreviation. Abbreviation. Yeah. Ah, yeah. And I ate two
- 41:58Speaker 3: of them while standing in the kitchen talking to my
- 42:01Speaker 3: wife about my day.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Yeah, nice.
- 42:03Speaker 3: And then I was in bed. You'll be keen to
- 42:05Speaker 3: know this, Jay. It's about 7.30.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Wow.
- 42:07Speaker 3: I was done.
- 42:08Speaker 4: So you went straight home, ate your tacos, boom, straight
- 42:10Speaker 4: to bed.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Straight to bed, yeah.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Because usually you need to do a bit of a,
- 42:14Speaker 2: after you've been chowing down.
- 42:17Speaker 3: I need to. Do a bit of a, you know.
- 42:18Speaker 3: What's that? Steamer. Steamer. No, I mean... I mean, I did. Oh, yeah, good.
- 42:26Speaker 3: But I went to bed first. Oh, then you went
- 42:28Speaker 3: to bed, yeah.
- 42:29Speaker 2: What's for dinner tonight at your place, Keezy?
- 42:32Speaker 3: My wife.
- 42:33Speaker 2: What?
- 42:34Speaker 3: What's funny? The thing that just popped into my head
- 42:36Speaker 3: was I felt like I could read Jase's mind, and
- 42:39Speaker 3: what Jase was thinking was some kind of abomination.
- 42:42Speaker 4: That is so true, every night. Last night, I was
- 42:48Speaker 4: supposed to get a homemade pie out of the freezer.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Oh, you've done it again.
- 42:52Speaker 2: But I forgot.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Classic.
- 42:54Speaker 4: So we're having that tonight, and my wife got it
- 42:56Speaker 4: out of the freezer this morning.
- 42:57Speaker 3: So she's had to do it.
- 42:58Speaker 4: She's made a point of getting it out.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I bet she has. At every bite, she'll make
- 43:02Speaker 3: a point of it.
- 43:03Speaker 4: Yeah. So on the bright side, we're having homemade pie,
- 43:06Speaker 4: which is delicious.
- 43:07Speaker 3: I love it.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Homemade.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:09Speaker 3: By you?
- 43:10Speaker 4: No, my wife's mum, my mother-in-law.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:13Speaker 4: She made it. She had leftover... Was she good at
- 43:15Speaker 4: that sort of thing?
- 43:16Speaker 3: Yeah, very good.
- 43:16Speaker 4: She had leftover chilli con carne, put a wee bit
- 43:18Speaker 4: of cheese, you know, flaky puff pastry on the top.
- 43:22Speaker 3: Oh, a bit of chilli con carne. Really nice.
- 43:24Speaker 2: How do you get that up from Christchurch?
- 43:27Speaker 4: Well, I put it in a... It's frozen... And I
- 43:30Speaker 4: put it in my bag, and then I put the.
- 43:31Speaker 3: Bag on a plane, and then I hop on the
- 43:33Speaker 3: plane as well. That's smart.
- 43:35Speaker 2: That's smart.
- 43:35Speaker 4: Every time I fly out, my carry-on, so I check
- 43:38Speaker 4: in a bag, and my carry-on is full of frozen
- 43:39Speaker 4: soup and pie and cheese rolls and stuff.
- 43:42Speaker 3: I've never heard of that. That's good stuff.
- 43:43Speaker 4: What are you having tonight, Jason? Abomination?
- 43:46Speaker 2: Well, just on that front, actually, my wife got out
- 43:50Speaker 2: some two very heavy chicken breasts from the freezer, and
- 43:55Speaker 2: they're big bastards. And it's like, there's no way that's
- 43:58Speaker 2: going to defrost in time for dinner.
- 44:00Speaker 3: When you see the large breasts of a now-deceased chicken, Jason,
- 44:04Speaker 3: do you ever think to yourself, when they're really big
- 44:06Speaker 3: like that, What size, you know, do you try and
- 44:09Speaker 3: imagine the chicken that it's come off of? I do. Yes,
- 44:13Speaker 3: I do. You think, jeez, that must have been a
- 44:14Speaker 3: big bass.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I visualise the chicken that the breasts came off.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Because you can't imagine them not toppling.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that's right.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Toppling over.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Well, I just imagine a heavy chest.
- 44:25Speaker 3: A heavy.
- 44:26Speaker 2: So I don't know actually what the plan was with
- 44:28Speaker 2: those frozen chicken breasts, but I guess I'll find out.
- 44:32Speaker 4: So do you feel like you're doing the chicken a
- 44:33Speaker 4: favour by eating the breast? the buzzies off the front
- 44:37Speaker 4: of it, because it would have been a pretty tough existence.
- 44:39Speaker 3: No, I just think it's an interesting, because sometimes, honestly,
- 44:42Speaker 3: you do. You see a dragon breast and you think
- 44:44Speaker 3: to yourself, you say, Jesus.
- 44:46Speaker 2: That is a big bastard. Hey, what's for tea, New Zealand,
- 44:52Speaker 2: by the way?
- 44:52Speaker 3: Text us on 3483.
- 44:53Speaker 4: Oh, my God, we completely forgot. 3483, you can get
- 44:56Speaker 4: reburger vouchers.
- 44:58Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 45:01Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 45:04Speaker 2: Filter there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Tuesday evening.
- 45:08Speaker 2: The time is 6.11, which means... Oh, yeah.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Hey, guys.
- 45:11Speaker 4: Text here from Steve.
- 45:13Speaker 2: What's for tea, New Zealand?
- 45:15Speaker 4: With me, Keezy. Genuine accident. I know I used to
- 45:22Speaker 4: cut you off, but that was a genuine accident, Jase,
- 45:24Speaker 4: and I apologise. I'm not sorry, I apologise. Hey fellas,
- 45:29Speaker 4: someone's obviously heard about What's For Tea New Zealand because
- 45:33Speaker 4: they've come on board and asked me to read out
- 45:35Speaker 4: a sponsor's message. That's pretty exciting. It's an exciting development
- 45:38Speaker 4: for a heritage segment on our show. Bakels are currently
- 45:43Speaker 4: looking for the number one sausage roll in New Zealand.
- 45:45Speaker 4: They're going to be judging it 1st of October. Winners
- 45:49Speaker 4: will be announced on Hodaki 2nd of October. One saucy
- 45:53Speaker 4: roll is about to become a Kiwi legend.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Which one?
- 45:56Speaker 4: We don't know. But to celebrate, if you'd like to
- 45:58Speaker 4: win a sausage roll workplace shout from Hodaki for your workplace,
- 46:02Speaker 4: text the word roll with your name and workplace address
- 46:05Speaker 4: to 3483 and get yourself on the roll.
- 46:07Speaker 3: 3483. That's the one.
- 46:10Speaker 4: Hey, lots of texts coming in, guys, for what's on
- 46:12Speaker 4: the dinner. G'day, fellas. Jimbo here.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Oh, I know a guy called Jimbo. Same.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:19Speaker 4: Cool.
- 46:20Speaker 3: G'day, guys.
- 46:20Speaker 4: Jimbo here from Gore. I'm a mate of Jase and Mike's.
- 46:25Speaker 2: That's right.
- 46:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:26Speaker 3: It's all Jimbo.
- 46:27Speaker 2: That's what we just said.
- 46:29Speaker 4: I'm having home-kill mutton stew.
- 46:32Speaker 3: Does he say anything else?
- 46:36Speaker 4: It's good eating.
- 46:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not sure it is. I don't think it
- 46:38Speaker 3: is either. Well, the thing, I guess if you made
- 46:40Speaker 3: it a stew and you had all the accoutrement.
- 46:44Speaker 2: Aye.
- 46:45Speaker 3: A bit of red wine in there, Keezy. A little
- 46:48Speaker 3: bit of vermouth. A little bit of tequila.
- 46:53Speaker 4: A glazed cherry.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Aye.
- 46:54Speaker 4: What?
- 46:54Speaker 3: On top. So I'm thinking you'd have to drink all
- 46:57Speaker 3: of that before you ate mutton stew. Oh, in order
- 46:59Speaker 3: to get down.
- 46:59Speaker 2: I think the only way forward with your mutton is
- 47:05Speaker 2: a stew.
- 47:05Speaker 3: Even the word.
- 47:06Speaker 2: I know, I know, is a stew. And old Jimbo,
- 47:11Speaker 2: I'm picking it's not going to be a flash stew.
- 47:15Speaker 3: You know what it'll be? It'll be the meat and
- 47:17Speaker 3: some water.
- 47:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 47:18Speaker 3: You're a shocking bastard, Jimbo. You always have been, man.
- 47:21Speaker 4: Hey, thanks for your text, Jimbo.
- 47:24Speaker 3: G'day, fellas.
- 47:25Speaker 4: Alan here.
- 47:25Speaker 2: Partridge.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Ah, Partridge.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Alan Partridge. I made some croissants today, and then we're
- 47:34Speaker 4: having them as vessels for bacon for dinner. So a
- 47:38Speaker 4: bacon croissant. That sounds delicious.
- 47:39Speaker 3: For dinner.
- 47:41Speaker 4: Bit of tomato sauce in there.
- 47:43Speaker 3: Bacon. Beautiful.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Oh, come on, man. They're homemade croissant keys. You better
- 47:48Speaker 2: squirt tomato sauce all over it.
- 47:51Speaker 4: Jason, you put tomato sauce on a butter chicken pie.
- 47:54Speaker 3: He's got you there, man. He's done you.
- 47:56Speaker 4: I've absolutely done you. G'day there, fellas. Leighton here.
- 48:03Speaker 3: Hewitt. Smith.
- 48:05Speaker 2: Oh.
- 48:08Speaker 3: Eggs on toast.
- 48:11Speaker 2: No.
- 48:11Speaker 3: Nah. Nah, I mean... Correct me if I'm wrong, Jizz,
- 48:15Speaker 3: but that's the sort of thing that you might have
- 48:17Speaker 3: if you're feeling a little bit rich when you're in
- 48:19Speaker 3: your dull days. But there's a sadness to it, an
- 48:22Speaker 3: egg on toast.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Start the day with it short.
- 48:23Speaker 3: Yeah, end the day with a couple of eggs.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Well, I've got to disagree with you on this one, though.
- 48:29Speaker 3: But how are you having them then?
- 48:31Speaker 2: Couple of poached eggs on toast for dinner sometimes. Something simple, easy.
- 48:36Speaker 3: No.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Squirt of tomato sauce on there, some cracked pepper, bit
- 48:40Speaker 2: of lemon zest. No. Aioli.
- 48:43Speaker 4: Ah, good stuff. G'day, fellas. Kevin here.
- 48:48Speaker 2: Heart. Bacon.
- 48:49Speaker 3: Oh, yum.
- 48:50Speaker 4: Yeah, yum, and a croissant with tomato sauce.
- 48:54Speaker 2: G'day, guys.
- 48:55Speaker 4: Kevin Bacon here. Sausages and chicken skewers, nothing else. So
- 49:00Speaker 4: I'm picturing a packet of supermarket sausage and a pack
- 49:03Speaker 4: of supermarket chicken kebabs.
- 49:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's probably what it is because I don't know.
- 49:07Speaker 3: It sounds like he's alone.
- 49:09Speaker 6: Yes.
- 49:09Speaker 3: He has been for a while.
- 49:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 49:12Speaker 3: And so I don't know why you'd make a chicken
- 49:14Speaker 3: skewer for yourself. No. It must have come as a skewer.
- 49:18Speaker 2: I'm suspecting, though, he hasn't. or she, mentioned it.
- 49:21Speaker 3: Oh, it's a dude. It's a dude.
- 49:23Speaker 2: It's a dude, yeah. You know, no sort of bread
- 49:26Speaker 2: or anything like that, because with that kind of action,
- 49:28Speaker 2: it's just meat.
- 49:29Speaker 3: Just meat. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And no, like, Yeah, he's
- 49:34Speaker 3: just grabbing the sausage by the throat, you know. He's
- 49:37Speaker 3: never got a knife before.
- 49:38Speaker 2: No, he's got a bit of tomato sauce, a bit
- 49:42Speaker 2: of aioli.
- 49:43Speaker 3: A bit of what? Aioli.
- 49:46Speaker 4: One last one here, fellas, just because we're on a roll.
- 49:49Speaker 4: Mince and cheese. Oh, the music stopped.
- 49:51Speaker 3: Oh, I better turn it off. Shut it down.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Oh.
- 49:54Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 49:58Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Queens of the Stone Age there on the Hodaki Big
- 50:02Speaker 2: Show this Tuesday evening. The time is 6.24.
- 50:06Speaker 4: Fellas, we've got a competition running, right, where you can
- 50:09Speaker 4: win two and a half grand's worth of stuff from
- 50:11Speaker 4: Trade Tested to spruce up.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Your deck, your backyard. It's life changing.
- 50:14Speaker 2: Is it a competition?
- 50:16Speaker 4: Well, it is because every Friday we've been giving away
- 50:18Speaker 4: two and a half grand's worth of stuff.
- 50:19Speaker 3: Right, yeah. And you've also, when you take into account the...
- 50:22Speaker 3: What constitutes a competition, Jase? That's probably what you've got
- 50:25Speaker 3: to ask yourself. You've got to be in to win.
- 50:28Speaker 1: Yes.
- 50:29Speaker 3: That's the first thing. I'm not writing it down. No,
- 50:31Speaker 3: you don't need to. Okay. Everybody knows that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 3: But you've got to be in to win, and this
- 50:35Speaker 3: is the case, right? So people are injuring, and then
- 50:38Speaker 3: you draw a name.
- 50:39Speaker 4: That's right.
- 50:40Speaker 3: And so they've been in to win, and then they're winning.
- 50:41Speaker 3: And then they're winning. And then there's the other defining
- 50:43Speaker 3: thing is mostly a competition that consists of– A litany
- 50:48Speaker 3: of losers. That's right. It's mostly losers, the competition.
- 50:51Speaker 4: And I'd like to touch on them today, because on Friday,
- 50:54Speaker 4: we will be calling someone, giving away two and a
- 50:56Speaker 4: half grand worth of stuff, right?
- 50:57Speaker 6: Yes.
- 50:57Speaker 4: Outdoor stuff, your barbecues, your deck chairs, billions of different things.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Your stand-up paddles.
- 51:02Speaker 4: Yeah, stand-up paddle board for some reason. They've got everything.
- 51:05Speaker 4: So go to tradetester.co.nz, put together a shopping list worth
- 51:09Speaker 4: two and a half grand, no more. Screenshot it, upload
- 51:12Speaker 4: it at hodaki.co.nz. That's how you enter. The competition is
- 51:14Speaker 4: called Big Deck Energy.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:16Speaker 4: Now, I have got a list of everyone who's entered
- 51:18Speaker 4: so far, and I'm just going through and looking at
- 51:20Speaker 4: the screenshots.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Okay.
- 51:21Speaker 4: So this person here has put a four-seater with ottoman
- 51:25Speaker 4: outdoor sofa set.
- 51:26Speaker 3: They love those.
- 51:28Speaker 2: It's very popular, isn't it?
- 51:29Speaker 3: There was another one that was $ 13. 99 yesterday. It's different
- 51:31Speaker 3: to that one, I think. That's right.
- 51:33Speaker 4: This one's slightly bigger, and it has the bonus ottoman.
- 51:35Speaker 3: Yeah. What's another name for an ottoman?
- 51:39Speaker 4: No, I don't know if there is. Classica Fiberstone Planter, black,
- 51:43Speaker 4: 119 litres.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Of what?
- 51:46Speaker 4: A planter. It's a planter, a big pot.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Liters.
- 51:52Speaker 3: Liters, yeah. $ 537. It's a biggie.
- 51:54Speaker 4: And then they've also added a single chair to go
- 51:56Speaker 4: with their sort of Ottoman set there. Oh, yeah.
- 52:00Speaker 6: $ 2, 735.
- 52:00Speaker 4: No. No, you're out of the draw.
- 52:03Speaker 3: What does that mean there? You're disqualified. Yes, you're disqualified.
- 52:06Speaker 3: That's another sign you're in a competition because you've been disqualified.
- 52:09Speaker 4: That's right. So I see that and I go like this.
- 52:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 52:13Speaker 3: Can you name and shame?
- 52:15Speaker 2: No.
- 52:16Speaker 4: No, I can't because I can't remember who it was,
- 52:18Speaker 4: but I've just got a picture here.
- 52:19Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 52:20Speaker 4: Okay, then you've got this bloody, this person here.
- 52:23Speaker 3: This goose.
- 52:25Speaker 4: They've gone $ 1, 958. They've gone for the Panama outdoor hanging
- 52:30Speaker 4: egg chair.
- 52:32Speaker 3: Everybody wants one of those.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Do they? Okay. Okay.
- 52:37Speaker 4: Outdoor beanbag lounger, canvas and coal color. That's $ 300. Big
- 52:41Speaker 4: outdoor beanbag lounger. Really nice. Really nice. They've got the
- 52:46Speaker 4: outdoor umbrella, 2.2 meters, black and white stripes. It pivots
- 52:50Speaker 4: slightly so you can adjust it for wherever the sun is.
- 52:53Speaker 4: You know the ones?
- 52:55Speaker 3: Yes. $ 2, 506. Oh, that was so close.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Boom.
- 52:57Speaker 3: You're out of the comp.
- 52:59Speaker 4: You know what I mean? And then you've got this
- 53:00Speaker 4: person here who's got like a new ion battery, a
- 53:04Speaker 4: planter box, a a whole three-piece sort of outdoor kit,
- 53:08Speaker 4: a flagpole, and a barbecue, adding up to $ 2, 475. You see,
- 53:13Speaker 4: there you go.
- 53:14Speaker 2: He's nailed it.
- 53:16Speaker 3: You think that guy actually wants a flagpole? How much
- 53:19Speaker 3: is a flagpole?
- 53:21Speaker 5: $ 129.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Exactly. He doesn't want that. He's chucked it in so
- 53:23Speaker 3: he can get as close as he can to the $ 2, 500. Yes,
- 53:25Speaker 3: that's right. That's not the first thing he put in
- 53:28Speaker 3: his basket.
- 53:29Speaker 4: Or he might, maybe he just desperately wants a flagpole.
- 53:31Speaker 4: But if you want to enter, this Friday is your
- 53:33Speaker 4: last chance. Tradetester.co.nz. Put together a shopping list with.
- 53:38Speaker 3: $ 2, 500.
- 53:38Speaker 4: Upload it at hodaki.co.nz slash bigdeckenergy.
- 53:42Speaker 2: Good stuff, mate.

- 54:45Speaker 4: is just going to wear what he's wearing now.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Well, I'm filming tomorrow, so I might... Oh, yeah. I
- 54:50Speaker 2: don't want to go on set looking like an absolute
- 54:53Speaker 2: f * * * wit.
- 54:59Speaker 4: Good stuff comes out. It's 7.30, fellas.
- 55:01Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff.
- 55:02Speaker 2: Speaking of, what's your plan tonight, Moggy?
- 55:05Speaker 3: Ah, great question, Jase. I'll be going home in, yeah,
- 55:08Speaker 3: probably doing a little bit of work tonight. I've had
- 55:11Speaker 3: a night off, so that'll do me, but I wouldn't
- 55:13Speaker 3: mind watching something. Do you know what's out? Mobland's out.
- 55:16Speaker 2: Right, okay.
- 55:17Speaker 3: The latest season of Mobland's out, so I might get
- 55:19Speaker 3: a couple of those in me.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Is that the Brosnan one?
- 55:22Speaker 3: That's it.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Yeah, okay. And Helen Mirren?
- 55:24Speaker 3: That's it.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Yeah, gotcha. What's that on?
- 55:27Speaker 3: I think it might be on your Disney.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Okay, I got Disney.
- 55:30Speaker 3: Yeah, not Netflix. Okay, Disney.
- 55:33Speaker 2: What about you, Keezy? What's going on in the Keezy
- 55:36Speaker 2: household tonight?
- 55:38Speaker 4: My wife and I will have homemade pie, and then
- 55:41Speaker 4: I might go for a walk around the block if
- 55:42Speaker 4: it's still light out, just to help with the digestion there.
- 55:47Speaker 3: Excuse me.
- 55:47Speaker 2: Huh?
- 55:48Speaker 3: Oh, that was rude.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:50Speaker 3: What happens to your digestion in the winter months when
- 55:52Speaker 3: there's no light and you don't go for a walk?
- 55:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I just like throw, I wake up in the
- 55:54Speaker 4: middle of the night and I've just thrown up in
- 55:56Speaker 4: the bed. So I have to, it's terrible. And then
- 56:00Speaker 4: I'll put my wife to bed and play PlayStation and
- 56:01Speaker 4: have a little glass of port there. What are you
- 56:03Speaker 4: doing tonight, Jase?
- 56:07Speaker 2: Um, tonight, well, it's funny, you know, because you'll recall,
- 56:10Speaker 2: of course, yesterday was my birthday.
- 56:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:12Speaker 2: So we were up all night last night.
- 56:15Speaker 4: Yeah, you were, mate.
- 56:16Speaker 2: Having a good old party there. You and your wife.
- 56:21Speaker 2: It's always, you know, it's like the opening night of
- 56:24Speaker 2: a show, really, isn't it? You go hard out. And
- 56:27Speaker 2: the second night, there's always a bit of a drop-off.
- 56:29Speaker 3: What was the Christmas... A natural drop-off. What was the Christmas,
- 56:33Speaker 3: the birthday dinner? Did we go through that?
- 56:36Speaker 2: It was spicy chicken fried rice and spicy dumplings.
- 56:41Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
- 56:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 56:42Speaker 3: Yeah, that's pretty good.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Don't go wrong. So, yeah, I'd look.
- 56:47Speaker 2: As I say, you know, I think it's going to
- 56:50Speaker 2: have to be a quiet one tonight. Though, you know,
- 56:53Speaker 2: who knows? Because, I mean, the reality is we live
- 56:58Speaker 2: right in the heart of the city. And often my
- 57:01Speaker 2: wife and I will be tempted after din-dins to go
- 57:04Speaker 2: and have some, you know, some frozen yogurt or something
- 57:08Speaker 2: like that. Just a.
- 57:09Speaker 3: She'd probably want to get out on her own, wouldn't she?
- 57:11Speaker 3: Just get a bit of a break.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Oh, no, she wants me on her arm for sure.
- 57:15Speaker 4: Because you cling to her arm like a little koala, right?
- 57:18Speaker 2: And, you know, that's the beauty of it. See you tomorrow, Paul.
- 57:21Speaker 3: Bye.
