- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hello everyone, welcome to the Almost Famous Podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Today we have a special guest. Her name is Katie Thurston.
- 0:13Speaker 4: Hey Katie, Hello everybody.
- 0:16Speaker 3: So Hey you so Pumpeda. Have you here by the way,
- 0:19Speaker 3: Just very excited it's I have.
- 0:24Speaker 5: I am so interested in your life right now, like
- 0:27Speaker 5: from afar, follow you on social media with the show
- 0:32Speaker 5: coming up. Just very intrigued by you.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Thank you. I appreciate it in the best of ways.
- 0:36Speaker 5: Like I just have a lot of questions, So I'll
- 0:38Speaker 5: let Ashley dig in first, then I'm going to jump in.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Sounds good.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Well, obviously you're going to be on f Boy Island
- 0:46Speaker 2: any day now. It's October sixteenth, Monday, October sixteenth is
- 0:50Speaker 2: when you are going to be one of the three
- 0:52Speaker 2: women trying to tell the difference between a nice guy
- 0:56Speaker 2: and an f boy. It's the first season that it's
- 0:59Speaker 2: going to be on c W. I want to know
- 1:02Speaker 2: what your reaction was when you first met Alan Gale,
- 1:05Speaker 2: who officiated my wedding and was a father of the
- 1:09Speaker 2: Bachelor franchise for so long.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Well, I'd never got to work with him, you know. Yeah.
- 1:15Speaker 4: By the time I had my experience, well on Bachelor,
- 1:17Speaker 4: I should say.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yes, yes, yes, okay, ye yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 4: But I'd heard so many great things about him, and
- 1:22Speaker 4: so when the opportunity came for the show, and his
- 1:24Speaker 4: name obviously being like the mastermind behind it, I already
- 1:27Speaker 4: had a feeling like it was going to be a
- 1:29Speaker 4: really good match meeting him though everything everyone has ever
- 1:32Speaker 4: said about him is true. He's amazing, He's a genius.
- 1:36Speaker 4: He tells you ideas and you're just like, this is
- 1:38Speaker 4: why you are doing what you're doing.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Yeah, So he was great. I love him. We're very
- 1:44Speaker 4: close today, like we've been in constant contact even after
- 1:47Speaker 4: the show, and I mean, he's going to be in
- 1:48Speaker 4: my life forever for sure.
- 1:50Speaker 5: I when I saw that you were going on f
- 1:53Speaker 5: Boy Island, and obviously Alon was around when I was
- 1:57Speaker 5: on the show, I immediately my first thought was like, those
- 2:00Speaker 5: two are a good duo, Like you two could work
- 2:04Speaker 5: really well together, and I kind of wanted to go
- 2:08Speaker 5: in and we don't have to, you know, obviously your
- 2:10Speaker 5: time on the Bachelorette is not something we're here to
- 2:12Speaker 5: talk about. We're here to talk about Foy Island. But
- 2:14Speaker 5: I think if you think back on your time as
- 2:17Speaker 5: a bachelorette and you would have had an Alan there.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Who let's be honest, right, Alan does share a lot
- 2:23Speaker 5: of opinions. He has a lot of thoughts. He is
- 2:26Speaker 5: much more I would say, vocal about what he thinks
- 2:30Speaker 5: you should be doing and what he thinks would be
- 2:32Speaker 5: really good. Sometimes that rubs people the wrong way. Sometimes
- 2:36Speaker 5: you're like, no, that's a crazy thought. I would never
- 2:38Speaker 5: do that myself. Do you think you would have appreciated
- 2:41Speaker 5: having him there or do you think it would have
- 2:42Speaker 5: annoyed you in that season of life?
- 2:44Speaker 4: Oh, it would have been a better experience, you know.
- 2:48Speaker 4: And what I went through without him being there? And
- 2:50Speaker 4: what now I know he's like if he had been there.
- 2:53Speaker 4: You know, he definitely has that human element of like,
- 2:56Speaker 4: here's my thoughts, now, tell me what your thoughts are
- 2:58Speaker 4: about that. It was just like it, oh, dialogue ongoing
- 3:02Speaker 4: on how to make great TV? Fine love, you know,
- 3:05Speaker 4: Like there was just so much transparency and that's something
- 3:09Speaker 4: I really respect from him versus you know, other experiences
- 3:12Speaker 4: are a little like everyone's trying to like make you
- 3:14Speaker 4: a little bit bit of a puppet. It's like no, no,
- 3:16Speaker 4: just tell me what you want and like, let's work
- 3:18Speaker 4: together and make something great happen.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Yeah, give me, give me the clarity.
- 3:22Speaker 5: I think that's one of the big things that I
- 3:23Speaker 5: felt was at least I had the clarity and I
- 3:25Speaker 5: felt like I had the position to say, no, man,
- 3:27Speaker 5: you're crazy. I'm not doing that. I don't think that's
- 3:30Speaker 5: right at all. And at least the conversation existed. And
- 3:33Speaker 5: maybe that was part of his strategy, because every time
- 3:35Speaker 5: you just get worn down and you're like, yeah, I'll
- 3:36Speaker 5: do whatever you say. But you know, before we dive
- 3:41Speaker 5: into f Boy Island, you do have a career right
- 3:44Speaker 5: now in improv. You have been doing stand up. I
- 3:49Speaker 5: have done that once in my life. I think it
- 3:50Speaker 5: was the hardest thing I've ever done. I never want
- 3:52Speaker 5: to do it again because.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I wants to do it so badly.
- 3:55Speaker 5: I was sweating all over in places I didn't know
- 3:58Speaker 5: I could sweat. I was sick to my stonfe make
- 4:01Speaker 5: it the green room behind it, it was a It
- 4:03Speaker 5: was an open mic. Night was chaotic because you have
- 4:06Speaker 5: people getting sick from being nervous, you have people super
- 4:08Speaker 5: chilled out being like this is just great. And then
- 4:10Speaker 5: you had me just in the corner like shaking, like
- 4:13Speaker 5: I don't want to do it. Katie, what made you
- 4:16Speaker 5: step into that? And kind of how's it going? Give
- 4:18Speaker 5: us a quick update?
- 4:20Speaker 4: Yeah, well, first of all, Jared should definitely give it
- 4:22Speaker 4: a shot, because you never know until you do it.
- 4:24Speaker 4: You have either a Ben who's like I tried it,
- 4:26Speaker 4: never again or myself who when I did my first
- 4:29Speaker 4: open mic, same vibe, I was like, I don't know,
- 4:31Speaker 4: and then did it. I watched the tape back I
- 4:33Speaker 4: was like, hell, yeah, I got this.
- 4:35Speaker 3: You did.
- 4:36Speaker 2: You do have a set written out?
- 4:38Speaker 4: Yeah, So when I did my very first open mic,
- 4:40Speaker 4: it's three minutes, which is so obtainable, right, And so
- 4:43Speaker 4: I kept chickening out and then finally I was just
- 4:45Speaker 4: telling you. I'm like, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna
- 4:47Speaker 4: do I'm gonna do it. Kind of hold myself accountable
- 4:49Speaker 4: by like announcing it. You know, like once you put
- 4:51Speaker 4: it out in the world, you look like a little
- 4:53Speaker 4: chicken when you like back out. So I'm like, well,
- 4:55Speaker 4: everyone knows I'm gonna do it, so I might as
- 4:57Speaker 4: well go all in. So, yeah, I had practice a
- 4:59Speaker 4: little bit of a three month the set, but you
- 5:01Speaker 4: really don't know what it's like until you're on stage.
- 5:03Speaker 4: And so when I was on stage, I felt like
- 5:06Speaker 4: I blinked and it was over. But then when I
- 5:08Speaker 4: watched the video back that my friend recorded, I was like, oh,
- 5:12Speaker 4: I think I got this. And so it's been a
- 5:14Speaker 4: year now of doing stand up, both with either open
- 5:17Speaker 4: mics or big shows with big names, and it's just
- 5:19Speaker 4: been so much fun.
- 5:21Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Can you give us a joke right now?
- 5:24Speaker 3: You know?
- 5:25Speaker 4: Literally, men will say that when they find out you're
- 5:27Speaker 4: a comic, They're like, Oh, tell me something funny, and
- 5:29Speaker 4: then I just look at them and I say men,
- 5:31Speaker 4: and then I just want I usually, you know, shut
- 5:35Speaker 4: a lot of guys up when they do that.
- 5:36Speaker 5: So I think that's the thing with with stand up ash.
- 5:40Speaker 5: You know, when I was preparing for it and I
- 5:43Speaker 5: wanted to give it a shot, was like, it's there
- 5:46Speaker 5: is such a different kind of mind space that I
- 5:48Speaker 5: had to get into to go up on the stage
- 5:50Speaker 5: and to share what I was wanting to share and
- 5:55Speaker 5: to see if it would work and react to. I mean,
- 5:57Speaker 5: I had I had jokes or segments that got no
- 6:00Speaker 5: last I had some that got a ton of laughs,
- 6:02Speaker 5: and I think Actually I found it more funny once
- 6:05Speaker 5: I was up there at the ones that I wasn't
- 6:06Speaker 5: getting laughs at because it was so awkward, and the
- 6:08Speaker 5: awkwardness makes people laugh, and that was fine for me.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I was good with it. Okay, So, Katie, My first
- 6:16Speaker 3: thought on f Boy Island.
- 6:17Speaker 5: Obviously we've mentioned that we're supporters of Alan tuned in
- 6:21Speaker 5: to the first season. What happens if one of the
- 6:24Speaker 5: three of you just want an f boy? Like, is
- 6:27Speaker 5: that an option or are you all agreeing to look
- 6:30Speaker 5: for the nice guy?
- 6:31Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 6:32Speaker 2: Like, you're not there to really find love, are you.
- 6:35Speaker 4: I mean with this show, it's very different because there's
- 6:38Speaker 4: there's multiple levels to it. There's one hundred thousand dollars
- 6:41Speaker 4: on the line. There's also the dating element, so it's
- 6:43Speaker 4: kind of like a win win, like, hopefully maybe I
- 6:45Speaker 4: win some money, maybe I find love, maybe a boyfriend.
- 6:47Speaker 4: You know, we all kind of had different goals. The
- 6:51Speaker 4: perk of looking for a nice guy is it's an
- 6:54Speaker 4: automatic split of the one hundred thousand dollars with them,
- 6:57Speaker 4: So in some degree you hope you fall for a
- 6:59Speaker 4: nice But the thing is, we don't know who that
- 7:01Speaker 4: is yet. So once we've already developed feelings and a
- 7:05Speaker 4: relationship with someone. Towards the end is the reveal of
- 7:08Speaker 4: who is an F boy who's a nice guy? And
- 7:11Speaker 4: sometimes you're just stuck with maybe all F boys and
- 7:14Speaker 4: like you have to just hope that maybe they're what
- 7:16Speaker 4: we call reformed and will choose to walk away with
- 7:18Speaker 4: you and the money at the end, or are they
- 7:21Speaker 4: just the ultimate F boy and they take one hundred
- 7:23Speaker 4: thousand dollars and leave you heartbroken and broke.
- 7:27Speaker 5: The For those who haven't seen the show, do these
- 7:32Speaker 5: guys know what category they're in or is this a
- 7:35Speaker 5: surprise to them?
- 7:36Speaker 4: So every guy comes in with their own definition of
- 7:39Speaker 4: what they think is a nice guy or an F boy,
- 7:42Speaker 4: So you're not like assigned a category. People have their
- 7:44Speaker 4: different reasons for, you know, self labeling themselves is what
- 7:48Speaker 4: they are. You know, I will hint that there was
- 7:50Speaker 4: one nice guy who we will all agree was not
- 7:53Speaker 4: so much of a nice guy. So just because they
- 7:55Speaker 4: label themselves something doesn't mean like that's really who they are.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Okay, I'm not going to have you call out any
- 8:11Speaker 2: of your bachelor exes directly, but we know that you've
- 8:15Speaker 2: dated Matt James Blake Wins and then your boyfriend that
- 8:21Speaker 2: you met on your season, John, that you ended up
- 8:24Speaker 2: dating in real.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Life, but you were no longer with.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Of the three of those guys, is there an f
- 8:29Speaker 2: boy amongst them?
- 8:31Speaker 4: I will say this, I do think I tend to
- 8:34Speaker 4: date nice guys, and I would say all three of
- 8:37Speaker 4: those are nice guys. And then in my experience on
- 8:40Speaker 4: this show, I thought I was going to be really
- 8:42Speaker 4: good at picking out who the nice guys are because
- 8:45Speaker 4: that's the type that I date. I was very very
- 8:48Speaker 4: wrong in truth.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Was that a surprise to yourself? Were you?
- 8:54Speaker 5: I mean kind of what's your emotions? Is that as
- 8:56Speaker 5: you walk through this process? Were you frustrated with yourself? Surprised?
- 9:01Speaker 4: I mean overall, I was happy with my experience and
- 9:05Speaker 4: learning about myself and getting to watch these men kind
- 9:08Speaker 4: of navigate their experience as well. But there was at
- 9:12Speaker 4: least one situation that left me very frustrated because it
- 9:15Speaker 4: was very much like a blindside.
- 9:17Speaker 3: I'll say that M something to tune into.
- 9:20Speaker 5: Now, Katie, you obviously have been in the spotlight, you
- 9:24Speaker 5: were the Bachelorette, You've gone on to stand on stages.
- 9:29Speaker 5: You're correct me If I'm wrong, tell me that if
- 9:34Speaker 5: I'm far off, your experience on reality television up to
- 9:37Speaker 5: let's say six months ago was maybe not a positive one. Like,
- 9:41Speaker 5: it wasn't one that you would say, yes, this was
- 9:42Speaker 5: the best season of my life. You know, there's good
- 9:44Speaker 5: things that came from it, but you know you you
- 9:47Speaker 5: weren't exactly like seeking to get back onto the Bachelorette
- 9:50Speaker 5: to be the bachelorret at.
- 9:51Speaker 3: A second time. What is it? Am I right or wrong?
- 9:55Speaker 2: Oh?
- 9:55Speaker 4: Yeah? I mean I had a lot of emotion recovery
- 10:00Speaker 4: from my reality TV experiences and I didn't have it,
- 10:05Speaker 4: you know, in the front of my mind to ever
- 10:06Speaker 4: really go on reality TV again. So when I got
- 10:11Speaker 4: the call actually for Bachelor in Paradise and for f
- 10:14Speaker 4: Boy Island this summer, it was just kind of like, well,
- 10:17Speaker 4: I guess, I guess I'm not done with reality TV.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so what like.
- 10:21Speaker 5: Give us a perspective to you personally then, like what
- 10:24Speaker 5: made you say yes to this stuff?
- 10:26Speaker 4: So for f Boy Island, I'd never seen the show,
- 10:30Speaker 4: so I had binge watched season two before agreeing to
- 10:32Speaker 4: do it and then seeing what it was about. Nicki Glazer,
- 10:35Speaker 4: who's a comic. She's the host alone he's the executive producer.
- 10:39Speaker 4: There was just all these positives behind the scenes and
- 10:42Speaker 4: what the show is about. That felt like maybe this
- 10:44Speaker 4: was going to be a better match for me and
- 10:46Speaker 4: my personality than what like traditional bachelorette is. You know,
- 10:50Speaker 4: it's very bachelor, it's very serious, which is great and
- 10:53Speaker 4: works for some people. I just think that's not a
- 10:56Speaker 4: good match for me, you know. So my experience in
- 10:58Speaker 4: doing f Boy Island was are silly and there's humor,
- 11:01Speaker 4: and there's comedians both on this on the cast and
- 11:05Speaker 4: behind the scenes, like it's just a big fun joke
- 11:08Speaker 4: that we're all in on it. It was just it was
- 11:09Speaker 4: just a much better experience. I'm really glad.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I said, yes, now you're with two other girls during
- 11:15Speaker 2: this whole process. It never seems to get catty between
- 11:19Speaker 2: the girls though, but what if you're like fighting over
- 11:21Speaker 2: the same guy because you are genuinely interested, Like, does
- 11:23Speaker 2: it give you bachelor and paradise vibes?
- 11:26Speaker 4: So we all talked about that we didn't really know
- 11:28Speaker 4: what to expect, but truly, with the exception of one person,
- 11:33Speaker 4: it all kind of organically worked itself out naturally. The
- 11:38Speaker 4: one guy that they were kind of both interested in
- 11:41Speaker 4: they talked about real quickly, like behind the scenes, it's
- 11:43Speaker 4: not even a moment for the show, and we're just like, yeah,
- 11:46Speaker 4: go for it. You know, I got a good group
- 11:48Speaker 4: of men here, so they're really for us. Wasn't that
- 11:52Speaker 4: opportunity to really fight over anybody or trade and it
- 11:56Speaker 4: just kind of worked out organically.
- 11:58Speaker 5: How does that make it different? And when they did
- 12:00Speaker 5: two bachelorettes, you think, is there a difference between them?
- 12:05Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I don't know how that worked for
- 12:08Speaker 4: the two bachelorettes. I can only speak from my own
- 12:10Speaker 4: bachelorette experience, and what I will say is on f
- 12:14Speaker 4: Boy Island, there's a lot of freedom to just exist
- 12:18Speaker 4: as you are, you know, like like I didn't get
- 12:21Speaker 4: interrupted a lot. There wasn't a lot of producer input,
- 12:23Speaker 4: like they're there, but like as nothing like there's just
- 12:27Speaker 4: they're not interrupting anything, you know. And so I think
- 12:30Speaker 4: that really allowed for organic connections to happen, whereas as
- 12:34Speaker 4: you guys know, with you know, the Bachelor, there is
- 12:36Speaker 4: a little bit more of like guidance for certain things
- 12:39Speaker 4: to happen or conversations or people to be talked to,
- 12:41Speaker 4: you know. So I think just by allowing us to
- 12:44Speaker 4: exist freely, allowed everything to just work out the way
- 12:49Speaker 4: it's supposed to.
- 12:52Speaker 5: What what happens Katie and I apologize, I don't know.
- 12:57Speaker 5: I know you go to Bachelor in Paradise. You just
- 12:59Speaker 5: mentioned it. We've seen the teasers. It's not a it's
- 13:02Speaker 5: not a spoiler. I don't know what capacity, like, I
- 13:05Speaker 5: don't know if it's in a Hannah Brown capacity and
- 13:07Speaker 5: you're you're just going down to you know, shakes things
- 13:10Speaker 5: up for a couple hours and you're like, yeah, I'm
- 13:12Speaker 5: just actually here a chill, or if you're actually going
- 13:13Speaker 5: as a contestant. Is that has that been released yet?
- 13:16Speaker 4: That hasn't been talked about. So yeah, you will have
- 13:19Speaker 4: to kind of tune in. I will say Paradise was
- 13:23Speaker 4: filmed first, so the timing of what ends up happening
- 13:28Speaker 4: on Paradise during filming, after filming, and then going on
- 13:32Speaker 4: to F Boy, which you know sometimes there are f girls.
- 13:35Speaker 4: I'll say that in short, you just got to tune
- 13:38Speaker 4: into both shows to kind of see what ends up happening.
- 13:41Speaker 5: It's a big piece and that's like my my curiosity
- 13:44Speaker 5: is here. Let's just say, you know, we don't let's
- 13:47Speaker 5: just say, you go down to Paradise to date, you
- 13:49Speaker 5: find love. What happens then with your commitment to go
- 13:52Speaker 5: to F boy Island.
- 13:54Speaker 4: I mean, just because there's F boys doesn't mean they
- 13:57Speaker 4: can't be F girls.
- 13:58Speaker 3: So this is big. Wow, that's really big.
- 14:04Speaker 2: For some reason, seeing you walk down those steps in Paradise,
- 14:07Speaker 2: I never even contemplating, contemplated you being a contestant where
- 14:12Speaker 2: you actually totally can be what it just like was
- 14:16Speaker 2: ruled out in my head that you would ever go
- 14:18Speaker 2: down as a contestant. Okay, Wow, this is good, this
- 14:21Speaker 2: is juicy. Now, you haven't talked to Blake for two years,
- 14:26Speaker 2: he says, as you walk down the stairs, you gotta
- 14:30Speaker 2: tease us with how your first interaction was.
- 14:33Speaker 4: Okay. I was told when I was gonna see everybody,
- 14:36Speaker 4: everyone's going to be very excited and get up and
- 14:38Speaker 4: hug me. And so I went in with this like
- 14:40Speaker 4: mentality like I'm about to be so welcome. When I
- 14:43Speaker 4: walk down, obviously the first person I look for is Blake,
- 14:46Speaker 4: and he's looking at me like he saw a ghost.
- 14:49Speaker 4: And it feels like five minutes of nobody saying anything,
- 14:53Speaker 4: no one's getting up, Like I feel so uncomfortable, like
- 14:58Speaker 4: I will do open mic over and over again before
- 15:00Speaker 4: I ever had to experience entering the beach that way.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel you. I did.
- 15:06Speaker 5: Were you nervous though, I mean, like, were you nervous
- 15:09Speaker 5: to see Blake again?
- 15:11Speaker 4: You know, so much time had passed. I was indifferent,
- 15:16Speaker 4: you know, I Blake's is very mature and despite how
- 15:20Speaker 4: things happened, you know, in the aftermath overall, like we were,
- 15:24Speaker 4: we were two happy people in love at one point,
- 15:27Speaker 4: and so I was very optimistic that, you know, regardless
- 15:30Speaker 4: of his situation status on Paradise, that the conversation was
- 15:34Speaker 4: going to be a positive one and much needed, you know,
- 15:38Speaker 4: as we both navigate whatever happens next in our lives.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Now, I have to just say, as a bachelor detective here,
- 15:56Speaker 2: the bachelor contract would not have allowed you to go
- 15:58Speaker 2: down there and date in then do f Boy Island,
- 16:01Speaker 2: So you are not a contestant.
- 16:02Speaker 3: So this is you are not a contestant.
- 16:05Speaker 4: I mean, you're entitled to your thoughts. Just you have
- 16:10Speaker 4: to know as a as a former bachelorette, you do
- 16:12Speaker 4: have a little bit more power and what your trap
- 16:15Speaker 4: says and how you navigate that. So I am a
- 16:18Speaker 4: very smart business woman. I read my contracts, I negotiate
- 16:22Speaker 4: my contracts, and all I'm going to say is, obviously
- 16:25Speaker 4: I made it work out for me the way I
- 16:26Speaker 4: needed to that best was going to benefit my life,
- 16:29Speaker 4: my love life, and my bank account.
- 16:32Speaker 5: I'm not convince you're not a contestant me neither.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Now that response was epic.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's I think it's very fair. Here
- 16:40Speaker 5: here's the wild part about all this, Katie. Let's just
- 16:45Speaker 5: say you were a contestant. You've spent the last I mean,
- 16:47Speaker 5: you spent all summer on television, like you were filming
- 16:50Speaker 5: all summer like this is you got to feel all
- 16:53Speaker 5: sorts of weird, right, Like that's a whole different reality
- 16:56Speaker 5: than the real world and sitting in your house with
- 16:57Speaker 5: a foster dog.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, it was because the dust felt like it
- 17:01Speaker 4: was finally settling in my life. I was like, all right,
- 17:03Speaker 4: this is the next chapter of what I'm going to do.
- 17:06Speaker 4: And then these phone calls happen. I go, well, I
- 17:09Speaker 4: guess my summer is in front of the camera again.
- 17:11Speaker 3: So was that exciting?
- 17:13Speaker 5: Like are you looking were you looking forward to that
- 17:15Speaker 5: or is this like like does it feel like intimidating
- 17:18Speaker 5: and nerve wracking.
- 17:19Speaker 4: You know, I did. I did my research with both opportunities,
- 17:23Speaker 4: Like I really didn't. I wasn't quick to be like, yes,
- 17:25Speaker 4: put me in front of that camera. You know. I
- 17:27Speaker 4: really made sure it made sense for me, for my
- 17:30Speaker 4: mental health, for everything that I worked so hard to find,
- 17:33Speaker 4: you know, in this point in my life. And so
- 17:36Speaker 4: this year of reality TV has just for both shows,
- 17:39Speaker 4: has just been so much better than my past experiences,
- 17:42Speaker 4: and so I'm really glad to just leave on a
- 17:44Speaker 4: positive note with you know, both different like franchises, my
- 17:49Speaker 4: mental health, you know, coming off of it, and just
- 17:51Speaker 4: feeling just overall very good about my experiences.
- 17:55Speaker 2: So if you are dating in Paradise, who was on
- 17:58Speaker 2: your list that you wanted to see down there?
- 18:00Speaker 4: That was the hard part because I haven't actually watched.
- 18:03Speaker 2: That was a hard part. So she had to do it.
- 18:06Speaker 4: I looked, you can do all you want, Ashley, but no,
- 18:12Speaker 4: but I really I haven't kept up with the show.
- 18:14Speaker 4: And so when I showed up there was a lot
- 18:16Speaker 4: of faces. I had no idea who they were. I
- 18:19Speaker 4: don't know where they a villain, are they a good guy?
- 18:21Speaker 4: Are they just a night one guy? I had no
- 18:23Speaker 4: idea who anybody was really.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Who was the hottest when you got down there.
- 18:28Speaker 4: I'll be so honest, there was this comfort in seeing
- 18:33Speaker 4: Blake again. It definitely stirred up some like things I
- 18:37Speaker 4: didn't know.
- 18:38Speaker 5: We're still there and he's kind of he's just looking good,
- 18:40Speaker 5: like we're all everybody talking about Blake two point zero
- 18:43Speaker 5: is doing all right for himself.
- 18:45Speaker 4: It's that breakup glow up that everybody goes through, and
- 18:48Speaker 4: you did it. So I was like, nice to see you.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Yeah, so okay.
- 18:54Speaker 5: We had Wells on a few weeks ago, and as
- 18:56Speaker 5: we close out here with you, obviously f Boy Island
- 18:59Speaker 5: is coming up.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Prety should tune in.
- 19:01Speaker 5: There's just a lot of intrigue and it's a very
- 19:04Speaker 5: fun show to watch. I don't think the name fully
- 19:09Speaker 5: represents the show. I think there's a lot of really
- 19:11Speaker 5: good like moments too behind well that we get to
- 19:15Speaker 5: watch on television as well. But we had Wells on
- 19:20Speaker 5: a few weeks ago, and he had mentioned that there's
- 19:22Speaker 5: a unique dynamic when a lead a former league comes
- 19:25Speaker 5: onto the beach, and that you know, you have multiple
- 19:29Speaker 5: different ways of going about it. Once some of the
- 19:31Speaker 5: leads go down and they only care about everybody else
- 19:35Speaker 5: because they don't feel like they need to care about
- 19:36Speaker 5: themselves or really pursue relationships of selves. Some leads come
- 19:39Speaker 5: down and they kind of have this ego give or take,
- 19:44Speaker 5: you know, a little bit to say, hey, you know,
- 19:46Speaker 5: I was a lead and I'm coming back to the
- 19:48Speaker 5: paradise and you know, y'all you're gonna want me, because yeah,
- 19:52Speaker 5: at one point I was it. How would you best
- 19:55Speaker 5: describe kind of your feelings leading up to the beach?
- 19:59Speaker 4: I mean, I I definitely did not want to target
- 20:01Speaker 4: on my back, so I wanted to make sure I
- 20:03Speaker 4: was humble in my experience. Also, let's not forget two
- 20:07Speaker 4: guys quit my season, so I don't really have that
- 20:09Speaker 4: confidence as the bachelorette. I'm just Katie coming to the
- 20:13Speaker 4: beach and if you like me, great. If you don't,
- 20:15Speaker 4: well that's your loss. But no, I definitely want to
- 20:19Speaker 4: stay humble and just open and not have this like
- 20:21Speaker 4: entitlement when I was there.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Is it the same mentel you took on f Boy Island?
- 20:26Speaker 4: Even more so on f Boy Island because it's a
- 20:28Speaker 4: shared lead spot with two other women, and I was
- 20:31Speaker 4: very nervous that they would feel some kind of way
- 20:34Speaker 4: fun fact, they had no idea who I was, so
- 20:36Speaker 4: we didn't even have to deal with that. So we
- 20:39Speaker 4: really got to navigate our experience, you know, as three
- 20:41Speaker 4: equal women dating these guys, and kind of every night
- 20:44Speaker 4: we kind of go through the list and like, you know,
- 20:46Speaker 4: mix around cards like this has to be an f boy,
- 20:49Speaker 4: this has to be a nice guy. And that was
- 20:51Speaker 4: kind of our like bonding moment every night after filming when.
- 20:54Speaker 3: You go down to Paradise.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I don't know that there's anybody from your season besides Blake,
- 20:59Speaker 2: But when you look back on your season, you did
- 21:02Speaker 2: date John after the fact, is there anybody else that
- 21:05Speaker 2: you were like, Oh, like I could revisit and date
- 21:08Speaker 2: that person, I'm thinking because Michael Alio is single. Your
- 21:10Speaker 2: take on all that.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I will say there definitely was a time where Michael
- 21:16Speaker 4: was on my mind, but more like fresh in my
- 21:19Speaker 4: experiences and reflecting and watching back and just all of
- 21:22Speaker 4: that stuff. With all the time that has passed, I
- 21:26Speaker 4: do feel like I don't know him as who he
- 21:30Speaker 4: is today. You know, a lot of people go on
- 21:31Speaker 4: the show and come out a little different. A lot
- 21:34Speaker 4: of people go on the show and it's a heightened
- 21:35Speaker 4: version of themselves. But then you get to kind of
- 21:37Speaker 4: see them on social media and you're like, oh, that's
- 21:39Speaker 4: a little different, you know. So there definitely was a
- 21:41Speaker 4: time where Michael was on my mind, but I can
- 21:45Speaker 4: say pretty confidently that that would never be experienced again.
- 21:49Speaker 5: Well, Katie, we got to let you go, but we
- 21:52Speaker 5: do want to remind everybody tune in the f Boy Island.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Katie is going to be one of the three women
- 21:59Speaker 5: walking through the experience.
- 22:00Speaker 3: What do you call them?
- 22:01Speaker 5: What do you call yourselves as the kind of leads
- 22:03Speaker 5: of f Boy Island? Is there a name for it?
- 22:05Speaker 4: You know? Some of the articles have been just calling
- 22:07Speaker 4: us the bachelorette, but yeah, I'd just say the leading
- 22:11Speaker 4: women of.
- 22:12Speaker 5: F Boy Island, leading women of f Boy Island. And
- 22:14Speaker 5: also we've got to tune in to uh to Katie's
- 22:18Speaker 5: story on the beach in Paradise to see how this
- 22:20Speaker 5: all kind of like filters out.
- 22:22Speaker 3: I don't know, Katie, I'm watching.
- 22:24Speaker 5: And I'm listening to you, and I'm thinking this has
- 22:26Speaker 5: to just get messy. I don't know if it does,
- 22:28Speaker 5: but it feels like it had a lot of risk
- 22:30Speaker 5: to get messy and I want to see if it happens.
- 22:33Speaker 4: I am known for being messy, so tune in to
- 22:36Speaker 4: find out.
- 22:37Speaker 3: That's is good TV.
- 22:38Speaker 2: So thank you, Katie. We'll see you on our TVs
- 22:41Speaker 2: multiple times a week soon maybes, yes, maybe it thank you.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Bye bye.
- 22:48Speaker 5: Well that's been Katie Thurston, former bachelorette, also a potential
- 22:52Speaker 5: contestant on Bachelor in Paradise and one of the leading
- 22:54Speaker 5: women on f Boy Island. Katie's got a lot going
- 22:57Speaker 5: on uh this summer. I if you you're going to
- 23:00Speaker 5: be watching a lot of her, you can tune in
- 23:02Speaker 5: to f Bay Island on the CW. As we spoke about,
- 23:07Speaker 5: and I don't know, Katie should be shown up to
- 23:09Speaker 5: the beach soon. I guess it would happen within the
- 23:11Speaker 5: next couple of weeks.
- 23:12Speaker 2: I'm excited about that. That is so unexpected.
- 23:15Speaker 3: I totally just.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Assumed she wasn't coming because she's on f Boy Island.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Oh she worked it all out. Well, until next time,
- 23:24Speaker 3: I've been, Ben, I've been Ashley. Talk to you soon.
